- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And on today's episode of The
- 0:44Hypnotist, we've got a very special guest hypnotist talking
- 0:48about regression, talking about weight loss.
- 0:52Welcome to the show, Rosie Callahan.
- 0:55Thank you. Thanks for having me, Adam.
- 0:57Great to have you here. So it probably makes sense to
- 0:59start with getting to know you a little bit.
- 1:02Tell us a bit about you and how you got into hypnotherapy.
- 1:07So I would have gone to a quit smoking session about 13 years
- 1:15ago, just over 13 years ago. And that was my first taste of
- 1:19it and spent two hours with somebody and I never wanted one
- 1:24since. So 13 years later.
- 1:26So I knew straight away, what did he just do to me?
- 1:31Like some, you know, the way I explained it at the time was
- 1:36it's like turning off a switch or turning on a switch upstairs.
- 1:39I don't know which it is. But something definitely clicked
- 1:42that day and I thought that was really powerful.
- 1:44And then I figured, well, what else could he use it for?
- 1:48And for mental health, you know, I think like many therapists out
- 1:52there, you would struggle with something because that's why you
- 1:56go looking for something, you know.
- 1:57So I it would have helped me a lot for that as well.
- 2:01And yeah, I just got a fire in my belly then for for hypnosis.
- 2:06How can I help people do this? Because what I was doing before
- 2:09that was teaching music. So I suppose there was always a
- 2:13passion there for helping people, umm, feel better, I
- 2:18suppose. But it used to be just
- 2:19instilling a love for music and kids, and that made them happy.
- 2:24And, you know, music's great. It's very therapeutic as well.
- 2:27So umm, yeah. So then I studied, umm, with the
- 2:33Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy, and that was done,
- 2:38gosh, seven or eight years ago. And ever since then I have I was
- 2:45in Canada for two years as well and opened Ontario hypnosis and
- 2:49I actually saw a lot of women for weight loss over there.
- 2:53And and I don't mean just getting them to chew their food.
- 2:57I mean, doing the full emotional clean out as well on a one to
- 3:00one getting to the writ of why they were they gained 5 or 6
- 3:04stone or whatever it was. So spent a couple of years there
- 3:07and in 2020 I started the Hypno Slim online classes.
- 3:12So once a week I'd have a group of people on Zoom.
- 3:14They come on a course for six weeks and I do the group
- 3:18hypnotherapy there and in the clinic I do the 1:00 to 1.
- 3:22So yeah. Amazing.
- 3:24So it seems like you had that kind of early experience that
- 3:26was kind of groundbreaking for you.
- 3:28It really changed your life. And then it was like, oh, maybe
- 3:30I could learn more about this, help other people.
- 3:33And I think a lot of hypnotherapists, you know, have
- 3:36some kind of breakthrough themselves that becomes a bit of
- 3:39a convincer before they, they start working with other people.
- 3:42And I think like you, I started off with a lot of weight loss
- 3:45clients. For the first like two or three
- 3:47years, almost every client was weight loss.
- 3:49And I think what's fascinating about weight loss is that, and I
- 3:51don't know how it was for you, but my perception was, oh,
- 3:54people don't know what to eat or, you know, they're just kind
- 3:57of having two big portion sizes. But within weeks it was like,
- 4:01this is emotional and the weight loss is the the consequence of
- 4:06that kind of underlying issue rather than the issue is that
- 4:10they're eating too much food. What were some of the insights
- 4:12that you gained from just working with so many people in
- 4:15the area of of weight loss? Exactly what you say they're
- 4:19like the, the weight that they have gained is their.
- 4:22What's that symptom to A cause? And it's amazing when you, when
- 4:26you see that, it completely changes your view because a lot
- 4:29of people would see, you know, you'd see someone walking down
- 4:33the street and they've so much weight on them and there's a
- 4:36perception that they're lazy or they couldn't be bothered or
- 4:40they're, you know, just couldn't.
- 4:42Yeah, just no motivation and all that.
- 4:44But actually the motivation part might be right, but it's all
- 4:48emotional. You know, there's something in
- 4:50there like I've had clients who, you know, could have had 10
- 4:55stone to lose even at least. And then you get to the root
- 4:58cause. Like there was one particular
- 5:02person who got knocked off the bike at four years old and that
- 5:07was the root cause of the anxiety.
- 5:09The emotional part. Like I think the first time when
- 5:13people hear this, they think what fell off my bike?
- 5:15So now I have 10 stone. But actually, yes, the emotional
- 5:18side, the shock of that, the trauma, it's trauma trying to
- 5:21have trauma a lot of the time. Umm, but it's amazing though,
- 5:25even even just as early like. From the 1st.
- 5:28Session something clicks. Like I know for myself the first
- 5:31session that I give all my clients in the group is one that
- 5:34would have been done on me when I was studying the gastric band.
- 5:38And I haven't touched chocolate in 7 1/2 years since that and
- 5:42nor have I wanted to. That was my vice.
- 5:44I loved it, but now I can't even smell it and it turns to my
- 5:47stomach. So it's really powerful even
- 5:50from the first one. Now, we don't obviously
- 5:52guarantee everyone will have those results, but it's the
- 5:55habit. Even just getting them to chew
- 5:57their food and convince their brain that there's subconscious
- 6:03that they really want to get the runners on, you know, like I
- 6:05would be telling clients that like when those runners look at
- 6:07you, they're saying, bring me out, let's go for a walk.
- 6:09We want to go, you know, And it's just about tricking that
- 6:12part in the mind. And why not?
- 6:14Because it's for the better, you know?
- 6:16Yeah, absolutely. And I've, I've had a few weight
- 6:19loss clients that it's obvious what's going on, like they might
- 6:23have been the victim of some kind of assault or unwanted
- 6:26attention. And it's this one-on-one equals
- 6:293. It's this kind of like, well, if
- 6:30I'm overweight or undesirable, then I'm safer.
- 6:35And it's just this kind of belief system gets formed.
- 6:38There's a gentleman I worked with and he had two marriages
- 6:41that ended very badly and he was slimming in both times where he
- 6:45met the woman that became his wife.
- 6:47And he was so overweight that he had a suspected heart attack.
- 6:52When he started losing the weight, he started sabotaging it
- 6:56because his unconscious thought that it was inevitable that if
- 6:59he lost weight, he'd get into another toxic marriage.
- 7:02And it's kind of like a lot of the time it's, it kind of makes
- 7:05sense when you when you figure out what's going on, there are
- 7:09obviously more complicated, you know, kind of emotional things.
- 7:13If someone's feeling sad and you know, food makes them happy,
- 7:16it's kind of like A cause and effect that creates these
- 7:19addictive loops. What are the most popular
- 7:22patterns that you've seen with weight loss clients where you
- 7:24think, OK, it's on the surface it looks like this, but what
- 7:28really is happening is something else?
- 7:31It comes to my, Anthony asked. That I'm thinking When I was
- 7:34treating the ladies in Canada, there was a lot of abuse.
- 7:39That was a pattern I saw at the time, and they had come from
- 7:43Europe actually, as children coming away from, umm, certain
- 7:48countries, I'm not going to say where, but they had experienced
- 7:52that abuse in the home where the mother took them out and went to
- 7:56Canada. Umm, so it's, yeah, that pattern
- 8:00there. Here I'm seeing an awful lot in
- 8:03my classes, a huge pattern of the me, the perimenopause or PR
- 8:10menopause, all that. So like anything from the mid
- 8:1230s to mid 60s, it's like and like I'm 44 next week.
- 8:17So like I'm at the start of that cycle do going.
- 8:19Wow. This is what people are talking
- 8:21about and it's that umm, no time for themselves.
- 8:26They're taxi moms. That's mostly mothers.
- 8:29My class aren't exclusive to women only.
- 8:31But there's that pattern of having no time for themselves,
- 8:35umm, using food to comfort themselves.
- 8:37They don't even realise and they're eaten half the time and
- 8:41a lot of because of the hormonal change, they're all over the
- 8:45place, you know, And I know with that myself as well, I've seen
- 8:49it change. So obviously there's a dip in
- 8:50different hormones and stuff. So there's a huge pattern there
- 8:55in my daily clinic. And I think, you know, once they
- 9:02start changing the habits and they start losing a little bit
- 9:06of weight, like they've already convinced themselves that
- 9:10they've changed. And it's much, much easier when
- 9:12you do that through hypnosis. You know, dieting doesn't work.
- 9:16We all know that, you know, even if you lose them, you're going
- 9:19to get it back and the rest. So it's, it's so nice to be able
- 9:22to give them that support where it's effortless, you know, But
- 9:29that that would be the main pattern I'd see at the moment is
- 9:31the menopausal stage and just people who are just so busy,
- 9:34mostly moms, not exclusive, but they've forgotten to take care
- 9:38of themselves. That's it.
- 9:40And and as you get older, you've got the metabolic, you know,
- 9:44role, you've got different hormonal, you know, kind of
- 9:46elements and you're right, time and, and kind of habits and, and
- 9:49those kind of things. We were going to talk about
- 9:52regression a little bit. And I think, you know,
- 9:55regression can be really helpful for for weight loss as well,
- 9:58because it's quite often in childhood that kind of treats
- 10:02are some form of expression of love or affection or validation
- 10:06or reward. But sometimes the trauma that
- 10:08has caused all of this has also happened in the in the past.
- 10:11Where do you find yourself using regression most for clients?
- 10:15Is that at the beginning of a of a habit?
- 10:18Is that some kind of traumatic event or where do you find
- 10:21regression really helpful for clients?
- 10:23For for anxiety would be the main thing.
- 10:26So even though someone might come to me for weight loss, no
- 10:31matter what they are experiencing, whether it's
- 10:34depression, anxiety, low self esteem, whatever it is, there's
- 10:38a root cause somewhere. So it is the biggest tool in my
- 10:41toolbox, right? We got to get to the root of it.
- 10:44And that's where I would use regression.
- 10:46So most of the time, Adam, I'm sure you'll probably find this
- 10:50the same as well. You know, you could ask a client
- 10:53on the phone before you meet them, say, oh, what you know,
- 10:56what are the habits, what are the problems?
- 10:57And have you any idea when it started?
- 11:00And very often they might say they might refer to the, the
- 11:05foods, you know, Oh, well, my granny used to give me this and
- 11:09my mom used to, you know what you were referring to there a
- 11:11minute ago. But once they step into the
- 11:13clinic, there's none of that because that is not the problem.
- 11:16Because someone was giving you sweets.
- 11:17That's not the problem. Why you're here in this
- 11:19situation today. It's the emotional pain that's
- 11:23behind that. So when they come in to me, I'm
- 11:25like, right, we have to get to the root of their pain.
- 11:28But where is it? You know, so you would use like
- 11:31I know you don't, we're not going to go into the the whole
- 11:33technique today, but it's about getting the root cause, finding
- 11:38out where it started and removing or desensitizing the
- 11:43event. So you're removing the emotions
- 11:46attached to that event. And then you'll have a look for
- 11:50at least another half dozen, maybe depending.
- 11:53I mean, some clients you could be, you could be there right
- 11:56there could be loads and you pick out which are the ones that
- 11:59are quite relevant here, you know, some kind, they may not
- 12:04see a weigh it up and then the light feeling they get off after
- 12:08that is, is huge. So that's where no matter what
- 12:12they kind of come in with obviously quit smoking, people
- 12:14are different, you know, but there's a route, there's a cause
- 12:19for, for the weight that's on them.
- 12:21So I feel it's like a challenge, but we have to work together.
- 12:25I bring 50, they bring 50, but the challenge is to get to the
- 12:28root and make them feel better and build up the confidence as
- 12:31well. Yeah, it it and and when you
- 12:33look at it from the point that nobody is born pre programmed to
- 12:38kind of overeat or snack or whatever it might be, then this
- 12:43this had a point of inception. This had a point where something
- 12:47happened and it was kind of joined up as an emotional coping
- 12:50response or or something. And when I use regression it
- 12:54it's exactly that. It's to go to the point where it
- 12:56all started. And quite often it was a good
- 12:59intention deployed badly, you know, in that moment.
- 13:03But sometimes it's also good to use regression to kind of go
- 13:06back to times where they just had it exactly as they wanted
- 13:09it, That Goldilocks kind of thing where they were eating
- 13:11without, you know, being on a diet.
- 13:13They're eating well. They were moving more and just
- 13:16kind of reactivating those resource states is kind of good
- 13:19because quite often we forget that there was a time then it
- 13:22was exactly as you would want it to be.
- 13:24Yeah, it's lovely actually. Regrets.
- 13:26And so at the start of all my sessions, I'd be regressing to a
- 13:29happy time. And do you know what I find
- 13:31comes up most of the time is a Christmas morning of some sort.
- 13:36Any time in the first seven or eight years that there's
- 13:40somebody sitting on Grand Disney or something or opening a
- 13:43present, Christmas morning, it's lovely.
- 13:45Like it's really because it's also given them the confidence
- 13:49as well that there's loads of happy stuff there too.
- 13:52And you can, you can go back to whatever you need to and it's
- 13:55controlled as well, you know? Absolutely.
- 14:00And, and, and that's the thing, it's kind of like you react
- 14:02about those neural pathways, you reactivate the resource States
- 14:06and they're the same person, but the same person in a more
- 14:09resourceful state is able to make very different choices,
- 14:12which, you know, can break, break those kind of cycles.
- 14:16And in terms of weight loss, what have you noticed it?
- 14:20It changes because in theory, the same person that loses a few
- 14:24pounds, a few kilos should be the same person with just a few
- 14:28kilos left less. But actually, quite often it
- 14:31brings about an entirely, you know, different person, a
- 14:35different side of their personality.
- 14:36What are some of the things that you've seen when when people do
- 14:39shit that that excess weight? Yeah, it's, I mean, not a sound
- 14:46big headed, but like if I opened my phone now and went through a
- 14:50load of texts, which I wouldn't for GDP or to, but it's people
- 14:54saying like you've literally changed my life.
- 14:57You know, I'm now out doing things, I'm enjoying life.
- 15:01You know, people have this perception of when you're trying
- 15:04to lose weight or you're on a diet that you can't go out or
- 15:08you can't do anything. It's all deprivation, whereas
- 15:12I'm telling them to get out, you know, and when you've convinced
- 15:15them that their stomach's only the size of their fest and they
- 15:19only need a side plate, they they have the confidence sense.
- 15:22So there's lots it changes, it changes their lifestyle, you
- 15:26know, and I know that's a bit of a cliche if you need to change
- 15:28your lifestyle, but it does. They're more confident, they're
- 15:32feeling better and they're they're clothes, they've more
- 15:35energy. The energy is a big one because
- 15:37you're convincing them that they have lots of energy too.
- 15:39And do you know what one of my favourite ones was?
- 15:42It was the first class I did. There was four of them in it in
- 15:45January 2020 and I was still in Canada and they were over here.
- 15:51I didn't know them at all. And this lady was in Cork and
- 15:54she's a nurse and I remember she had to take leave.
- 15:59She's only about my own age. She had to stop working because
- 16:02of the arthritis. So all the inflammation, the
- 16:04pains in the joints, she wasn't able to be on her feet anymore.
- 16:08And she was married to two kids and we did the class and after a
- 16:12couple of weeks, like so, she stopped eating crisps,
- 16:15chocolate, everything from the very first session, didn't want
- 16:18them anymore. And she said after a few weeks
- 16:21that the pain had significantly reduced.
- 16:24And by the end, at that time, I was doing 10 week course.
- 16:27By the end of the 10 weeks she was hiking.
- 16:30So she'd been out walking and like, and not just normal going
- 16:35for a little stroll. So for someone who couldn't
- 16:37stand on her feet and work, all of a sudden she was and she was
- 16:40a nurse as well. She understood, you know, even
- 16:43the sugar, all that sugar every day what it's doing.
- 16:46But until, unless you flip the switch, umm, it can be very
- 16:50hard. So they had the arthritis.
- 16:52The other one was, umm, the cholesterol.
- 16:55I remember there was a lady, she said she was on, umm, I don't
- 17:00know, was it? Yeah, blood pressure, It's a
- 17:03blood pressure tablet she was on.
- 17:05Yeah, it was sorry, blood pressure tablets.
- 17:07And she had been on there for about 10 years and literally
- 17:10within a couple of weeks she went back to her GP and he took
- 17:13her off them. And that was just from because
- 17:16they're now eating healthier, you know, putting the food into
- 17:19their body that they want. So it's not like this magic
- 17:22wand. But once you do that and doing
- 17:25it effortlessly. So they were big things that
- 17:28people come with. They're sleeping better as well
- 17:30as another one. Yeah.
- 17:33There's endless advantages. It doesn't stop, does it?
- 17:37Because once the confidence increases, then they might feel,
- 17:40you know, more motivation to try different things.
- 17:44It can have social impact and you're right, health and
- 17:46well-being and this kind of ripple effect that keeps on
- 17:49going. It's a it's a wonderful thing in
- 17:52the world of hypnotherapy. A lot of hypnotists consider
- 17:55Ericsson one of the the kind of most influential kind of
- 17:59figures. And I'd probably say after
- 18:00Ericsson, it's probably Ellman that is real kind of like father
- 18:04figure, almost of kind of modern hypnotherapy.
- 18:08Tell us, because it seems like you use the, the Elman induction
- 18:11a lot in your, your process. For those people not familiar
- 18:14with the Elman induction and the and the influence the Elman has
- 18:17had on hypnotherapy, tell us your your thoughts on that.
- 18:24That the relaxation part. Now some people like to have a
- 18:30quicker, faster experience, which can be very good as well.
- 18:36I find with Yelman, it's I suppose clinical hypnotherapy.
- 18:41You're in there, you've got the relaxation process is so
- 18:45powerful. Remember the first time I'd ever
- 18:47done it. So from the very start, that's
- 18:50what I used. And I've never really gone
- 18:53looking. To be able to compare it to lots
- 18:56of other techniques, but I find it so powerful going into some,
- 19:01some nambulism, lots of deepeners that you've just got
- 19:05full access when you use it. You know, umm, there's, there's
- 19:11loads, umm, there's loads of different techniques out there.
- 19:15But really, I, I suppose I just think the almond praise, singing
- 19:19his praises that it's umm, it really works.
- 19:22And like, there's lots of methods obviously, for getting
- 19:25into hypnosis. And then what you do in there is
- 19:32up to, you know, whatever you're working on, whether it's quit
- 19:34smoking. But that relaxation process of
- 19:39his is very, very powerful. I, I agree, I think, I think
- 19:43it's an amazing process. And, and, and for those people
- 19:46listening that are wondering like who Elman is, you know,
- 19:48he's very kind of influential kind of figure, but his approach
- 19:53takes things like fractionation, convinces deepeners, all of this
- 19:58kind of stuff, progressive relaxation, this whole kind of
- 20:00journey. And for those people that like a
- 20:04really deep experience, that gives them that that deep
- 20:07experience. And, and some of the language,
- 20:10you know, if it's used exactly as the original kind of script,
- 20:13the the kind of Wet, Wet rags and clothes and all this kind of
- 20:16stuff seem, seem a little bit kind of.
- 20:19Old fashioned, I don't use the almond induction enough, I think
- 20:22because normally like my, my whole sessions are 60 minutes
- 20:25and then it's kind of like if you're doing 30 minutes of
- 20:27hypnotherapy, that's a long part of the of the process.
- 20:30But that doesn't mean it's not a great kind of tool.
- 20:33It's, it's a really, I think, wonderful induction.
- 20:36And you're going to be using the almond induction in your
- 20:39demonstration now and doing some weight loss suggestions.
- 20:42So I'm looking forward to that. But for people interested in
- 20:46working with you and learning more about you, where can they
- 20:48find out more information? So you can go to our website is

- 21:19We're going to put those links in the show notes.
- 21:21So if you are interested in working with Rosie, that's the
- 21:24place to to go. And Rosie and myself are also
- 21:28presenting at the Irish Hypnotherapy Conference in April
- 21:31in Dublin. So if you are interested in
- 21:32seeing Rosie, there will be a link to early bird tickets in
- 21:36the show notes as well. So you can certainly check that
- 21:38out. But Rose, you're going to do a
- 21:40hypnotherapy experience for us. I was just saying before we
- 21:44started recording, there's a few extra pounds I'd like to lose.
- 21:47So I'm going to be experiencing this along with with everyone
- 21:52listening right now. So I'm going to put myself on
- 21:53mute and then it's all over to you to lead us into this
- 21:56hypnosis. OK.
- 22:01Thanks, Adam. Yeah, it's all about your
- 22:04perception, isn't it? You think that you need to lose
- 22:06them, but sure, that's all we need.
- 22:08It's how the the client is thinking.
- 22:10OK, so we'll just start with taking a deep.
- 22:15Breath and just let that breath go and take another deep breath
- 22:25in and let that breath go. So this time when you take a
- 22:33deep breath in, I want you to fill your lungs completely and
- 22:38then hold the breath for a mental count of five.
- 22:44And as you slowly exhale that breath, allow your eyes to close
- 22:49normally and naturally. And I want you to imagine
- 22:53sending a big wave of relaxation all the way from the top of your
- 22:58head, down your forehead, further down over your eyelids,
- 23:04helping your eye muscles relax. And imagine now sending that
- 23:10wave of relaxation even further down your cheeks and your neck,
- 23:18all the way down your chest and stomach.
- 23:23And imagine sending that wave of relaxation even further down
- 23:27your legs into your knees and your ankles and feet.
- 23:35Now we're going to deepen this relaxation much, much more.
- 23:39So in a moment, I'm going to ask you to open and close your eyes.
- 23:44And when you close your eyes, allow this to be your signal for
- 23:48the relaxation to become 10 times deeper.
- 23:53All you have to do is to want this to happen, and you can
- 23:56allow it happen very easily. So when you're ready, take a
- 24:02deep breath and hold the breath and nice and gently open your
- 24:14eyes and close them. Now let that breath go and
- 24:21imagine your whole body now being covered in a warm blanket
- 24:24of relaxation. And we're going to deepen this
- 24:28relaxation even more. So in a moment, I'm going to ask
- 24:32you to open and close your eyes again.
- 24:34Now this time when you close your eyes, double the relaxation
- 24:38that you feel and be aware that you're twice as relaxed as
- 24:42before. So when you're ready, take a
- 24:46deep breath in and hold the breath and nice and gently open
- 24:53your eyes and close them. Now let that breath go and let
- 25:00every muscle in your body completely relax.
- 25:05Be aware now that every muscle in your body is relaxed, and you
- 25:09can hold on to this feeling of relaxation for as long as you
- 25:13choose. And we're going to deepen this
- 25:16relaxation even more. So in a moment, I'm going to ask
- 25:20you to open and close your eyes just one more time.
- 25:24And this time when you close your eyes, double the relaxation
- 25:27that you feel and be aware that you're twice as deep as before.
- 25:33So when you're ready, take a deep breath in and then hold the
- 25:39breath. That's it.
- 25:42Open the eyes and close them. Now let the breath go and double
- 25:50that relaxation that you feel. And be aware that every muscle
- 25:55in your body, from your head to your toes, is completely relaxed
- 25:58now. And for as long as you choose to
- 26:00hold onto that feeling of relaxation, every muscle is
- 26:05completely relaxed. So now that you have relaxed
- 26:10physically, next I'm going to show you how to relax mentally.
- 26:14And this doesn't take long, but I don't want you to start until
- 26:20I ask you to start. So in a moment, when I ask you,
- 26:23I'm going to ask you to imagine or pretend that you've got a pen
- 26:27and paper on your right hand and another pen and paper under your
- 26:32left hand. So when I ask you, I'm going to
- 26:36ask you to imagine or pretend when you exhale a breath, that
- 26:41with the right hand, you write the #73 on the piece of paper.
- 26:47And on the next exhale, imagine or pretend writing the letter W
- 26:53on the piece of paper. And on the next out breath,
- 26:59imagine writing the number before that on the right.
- 27:04And on the next out breath, imagine writing the letter
- 27:08before that on the left. So you'll find as you're doing
- 27:12this that your mind gets relaxed and confused and it'll get hazy
- 27:19as to which number or letter you're on and which hand.
- 27:22And this is exactly what you want to happen.
- 27:26You know, if you wanted, you could go all the way back to A
- 27:29or down to 0. But that's not why you're here.
- 27:33You're here to relax your mind, so just enjoy how good it feels
- 27:38as you do it. And I'll still be talking to
- 27:41you. But you don't really have to
- 27:43listen whenever you get confused or forget you know which number
- 27:48of letters come next. All you need to do in that
- 27:51moment is simply double the relaxation that you feel and
- 27:55enjoy how good it feels as you do it.
- 28:02So let's get ready to start 10. Let's get ready to start on the
- 28:18next out breath. Imagine with your right hand
- 28:20writing the #73 on that piece of paper, and on the next out
- 28:27breath imagine writing the letter W on that piece of paper
- 28:32on the left. And on the next out breath
- 28:37imagine writing the number before that on the right.
- 28:42And on the next out breath imagine writing the letter
- 28:46before that on the left. Now you continue doing this.
- 28:53I'll still be talking, but you don't really have to listen
- 28:56whenever you get confused. You forget which number, which
- 28:59letters come in next. Just simply double the
- 29:01relaxation that you feel and enjoy how good it feels.
- 29:05I should do it. And you continue doing a number
- 29:08or letter on each out breath in your own breathing pattern.
- 29:14And in a moment I'm going to count from 10 down to 1.
- 29:19And with each number I count, you'll notice your mind and body
- 29:25relaxing even more. All you have to do is to want
- 29:30this to happen, and you'll notice it happening all by
- 29:34itself. You'll notice how the deeper you
- 29:37relax, the better you feel. And the better you feel, the
- 29:42more you can allow yourself to relax.
- 29:45Not because I said so, but it's the very nature of your mind and
- 29:48body to enjoy these deep, deep levels of relaxation. 10 Going
- 29:56deeper and deeper, relaxed. Nine Relaxing more and more 8
- 30:12all the way down now deeper and deeper down.
- 30:15That's it. 7 Deeper and deeper, relaxed, almost like you can
- 30:22feel gravity just pulling into that chair or bed.
- 30:25The drawing. And if you've already got
- 30:29confused and forget which number letters come next, pick another
- 30:33random letter and number and start again. 6 Going deeper and
- 30:40deeper, relaxed. 5 Relaxing more and more, deeper and deeper. 4
- 30:55even deeper now. Three just letting go.
- 31:06Two deeper and deeper relaxed and one that's really good.
- 31:16Now I want you to imagine something, but before you do, if
- 31:19there's any numbers or letters still lingering, just imagine
- 31:24throwing them away for the rest of this relaxation.
- 31:27They'll be there when you're done, but right now all you need
- 31:30to do is relax. So use your imagination now and
- 31:36understand that some people are very visual and they can really
- 31:39see pictures in their minds and images.
- 31:42Others get impressions, but every single one of us can
- 31:46imagine. So I want you to use that
- 31:48imagination now and imagine that you're somewhere out in the
- 31:52countryside. Imagine and pretend you're
- 31:55somewhere out in nature, somewhere where the sky is an
- 32:01incredible blue. There's one or two fluffy clouds
- 32:06floating by, and imagine that there's a Little River or stream
- 32:13meandering by. You can hear the water running
- 32:19over the rocks, generating eddies of foam, the glisten, and
- 32:25the sunlight. This is a beautiful place, full
- 32:30of peace and tranquility, and there's nobody looking for
- 32:37anything. This is time out for you, so
- 32:43imagine there's birds and trees there, flowers and butterflies.
- 32:51Maybe you can even hear birds singing.
- 32:56Maybe you can feel a gentle breeze on your face.
- 33:01Imagine lying down in this place now and you're feeling so
- 33:04relaxed and so at peace. Notice the butterflies going
- 33:11from flower to flower. Maybe you can even smell the
- 33:16flowers feeling so relaxed and at peace.
- 33:24I want you to imagine you're pretend now that you fall into a
- 33:27peaceful natural sleep even though you know you're never
- 33:32going to be asleep in this place.
- 33:35But just pretend that you're going to sleep, because you know
- 33:39when you sleep you can dream. So imagine now that you are
- 33:45dreaming, and you know that when you dream, everything is
- 33:50possible. There's no limitations
- 33:52whatsoever. So imagine and pretend now that
- 33:59you're standing at the top of a staircase.
- 34:01Now, this isn't an ordinary staircase.
- 34:05This is your own personal staircase of relaxation.
- 34:11Now you can decorate it any way you want.
- 34:15Maybe put some nice soft carpet of your favorite colour on it.
- 34:20You can hang your favorite pictures, your photos in the
- 34:23walls, paint whatever way you want.
- 34:25Make it your own. And in a moment I'm going to
- 34:29count from 10 down to 1. And with each number I count,
- 34:35you'll notice your mind and body relaxing even more.
- 34:41With each number that I count, I want you to imagine or pretend
- 34:47that you're taking a step down the staircase.
- 34:51And you'll notice yourself relaxing more and more with each
- 34:55step you take. Now remember that some people
- 34:59are very visual. I'm not.
- 35:01Some people are very visual and they can see very clearly the
- 35:05pictures in their minds. And when they're asked to do
- 35:07this, they can see themselves walking down each step, noticing
- 35:13themselves relaxing more and more with each step.
- 35:18And then other people feel like they're floating down the steps,
- 35:22just relaxing more and more. And then there's other people
- 35:27who might find their minds wander and they just relax more
- 35:31and more with each number. So whatever way your mind works
- 35:35for you is perfect for you. There's no right or wrong here.
- 35:41So let's get ready to take that first step. 10 Going deeper and
- 35:50deeper. Nine Mind relaxing and body
- 35:57relaxing. 8 all the way down now. 7 Deeper and deeper
- 36:12relaxed. Six Relaxing more and more.
- 36:26Five. Each step is relaxing you more
- 36:31and more. Four, even deeper now, deeper
- 36:42and deeper down. That's it.
- 36:45Three just letting go. Two, relaxing more and more with
- 36:54each step. And one, that's good.
- 37:02So you notice now that every breath that you take is relaxing
- 37:07you more and more. Every breath that you exhale is
- 37:12relaxing you more and more and every sound that you hear
- 37:17relaxes you more and more. Any external sounds such as
- 37:24phones ringing or doors banging or any sounds even of me moving
- 37:30in the chair or any animals outside.
- 37:34All these sounds can only help and guide you deeper and deeper,
- 37:40relaxed. But you know that the outside
- 37:42world is still turning as you relax more and more, deeper and
- 37:52deeper. Now in a moment, I'm going to
- 37:56count from 5 down to 1, and with each number I count, you can
- 38:01just allow your mind and body to relax even more as your
- 38:05subconscious mind gets ready to take on all these wonderful,
- 38:09powerful hypnotic suggestions 5. Going deeper and deeper relaxed
- 38:20four. Relaxing more and more 3 mind
- 38:30relaxing and body relaxing and two, all the way down.
- 38:38That's it. And one, deeper and deeper,
- 38:43relaxed. Now what I want you to do now
- 38:48you're doing really well. I want you to imagine.
- 38:52Imagine being in a waiting room, and it's just like a doctor's
- 38:55waiting room. But imagine you're there.
- 38:58You're the only person there, just you, nobody else.
- 39:03And imagine, imagine yourself sitting in the middle of the
- 39:07waiting room and in front of you there's a door to the left and
- 39:12there's another door to the right.
- 39:14And I want you to imagine that you're waiting to make one of
- 39:18the most important decisions of your life.
- 39:22And this decision that you make is going to decide if you're
- 39:26going to be happier and healthier, slimmer, and all the
- 39:33wonderful things that come with that such as having more
- 39:36confidence and feeling in control and feeling proud of
- 39:41yourself, better mobility relationships, having more and
- 39:49more positive relationships in your life, and also wearing the
- 39:52nicest of clothes. This decision can decide if
- 39:57you're going to be in your ultimate shape for your body
- 40:00type and age. Now this decision could also
- 40:05decide though, if you're just giving up on yourself and giving
- 40:09up on the best version of you. Maybe giving up on being
- 40:15confident, healthy, happy. That decision could decide if
- 40:22you're actually going to lose control of your body shape,
- 40:26maybe a loss of pride in your appearance, and this decision
- 40:30that you're about to make could possibly take years off your
- 40:33lifetime. This is one of the most
- 40:36important decisions that you will ever make.
- 40:40So I want you to imagine now that behind that door to the
- 40:43left is you this time next year. And I want you to imagine that
- 40:50behind that door to left, that that's the you that did not
- 40:54decide to take control of their height, their health, and their
- 40:59weight. That's the you that's making all
- 41:02the bad choices. Eating just when you think
- 41:06you're hungry instead of actually waiting for the
- 41:09physical appetite to form. That's the you that's using food
- 41:14to silence negative emotions. Maybe drinking sugary drinks,
- 41:20maybe too much alcohol, lots of takeaways and always thinking
- 41:25that they're hungry and, and thinking, oh, what am I going to
- 41:27eat next? So I want you to imagine that
- 41:30that view behind that door on the left is still eating all the
- 41:34greasy foods, those foods that are filled with sugar and fat,
- 41:41takeaways, convenience foods. And that view is still not
- 41:47exercising, and they're eating bigger and bigger portions as
- 41:51the time goes on, feeling absolutely stuffed when they eat
- 41:57and getting bigger and bigger as time goes on.
- 42:01And I really want you to make this image as painful as you
- 42:05can. Unless you, unless you decide to
- 42:10make the right decision, then this is possible.
- 42:16This could be your truth. Unless you decide to take back
- 42:20control. It is a possibility.
- 42:23And if it's a possibility, then it's a risk to you in the
- 42:27future. And if it's a risk, then it's
- 42:31also a threat that you do not need in your life, nor do your
- 42:36loved ones need that threat in their lives.
- 42:40Now I want you to imagine. Imagine walking into that room
- 42:44on the left and boom, there you are this time next year.
- 42:48Imagine you're in that room on the left this time next year.
- 42:52Heavier, unhappier, more and more miserable, unhealthier.
- 43:00And of course you've more and more body fat.
- 43:04And imagine seeing yourself in front of you in this room.
- 43:09You're still eating huge portions.
- 43:12Like big, big portions eaten far too fast, not allowing the time
- 43:17to chew the food. And they're even eating when
- 43:21they don't even have an appetite, just eating for the
- 43:24sake of eating, not waiting for that physical appetite.
- 43:29And imagine all the takeaways that they've eaten in just one
- 43:33year. Imagine all that grease that
- 43:35they've consumed in just one year.
- 43:39And ask yourself a question now and be really honest, right?
- 43:43Ask yourself these questions. Am I happier that I've spent
- 43:48another year hurting myself? Am I happier that I had to buy
- 43:54bigger clothes? Am I healthier?
- 44:01And ask yourself this, Is food that good that you're prepared
- 44:06to risk your health? Is eating vast amounts of grease
- 44:11each year that good that you don't care about the stress that
- 44:15it's causing your organs? Is sugary food that good that I
- 44:22don't mean I don't mind feeling awkward when people look at me?
- 44:27Is sugary food that good that I don't mind risking even my
- 44:32children being bullied when I could pick them up in school?
- 44:38Is eating whenever I feel like it that special that you just
- 44:43give up on yourself? Is making bad choices and having
- 44:50a bad relationship with food so special I won't mind putting
- 44:55myself down every time I see a reflection in a window or in the
- 44:59mirror? Is making those bad choices that
- 45:02special? Now imagine.
- 45:07Imagine five years passes by and they're still trapped behind
- 45:13that door on the left, getting bigger and bigger with each year
- 45:18that passes. Imagine another five years of
- 45:22grease and sugar, another five years of stuffing yourself with
- 45:30big, big portions. Imagine another five years of
- 45:34convenience foods and another five years of losing my identity
- 45:41and forgetting to look after myself.
- 45:45Imagine another five years. Now imagine another 10 years
- 45:51passed by in that room. They're still stuck there in the
- 45:55same situation. Now imagine even 20 years on.
- 46:06Imagine still being stuck behind that door.
- 46:13And now I want you to imagine. Imagine yourself in the last few
- 46:18minutes of life and feeling really, really angry.
- 46:23Just feeling like a failure, knowing that if only I'd made
- 46:28changes to my food choices, if only it changed my lifestyle, I
- 46:34could have more time, more happiness, more self respect,
- 46:41more pride and more energy and much much more fun.
- 46:47If only I'd made that right decision.
- 46:52Now imagine they just pass away and boom, that's it, no more
- 46:57chances. OK, now what I want you to do is
- 47:06I want you to imagine leaving that room on the left and
- 47:11sitting back down in the waiting room.
- 47:14And now I want you to generate a huge, huge sense of relief.
- 47:18Because the great news is that none of that has happened.
- 47:22And it doesn't have to happen. But the only person in the whole
- 47:28world who can make that choice is you, and only you.
- 47:33Nobody can do for you, but it'll take for you to do for yourself.
- 47:37Only you have that power. Which means if you're serious,
- 47:42if you are really, really serious, then you need to make
- 47:45the right decision for you and your loved ones here today.
- 47:50But don't make it yet before you make it.
- 47:54Now. What I want you to do is imagine
- 47:56going in through that door on the right and just see the real
- 48:00you that's there. This is the you that only you
- 48:04can decide to be. It has always and always been up
- 48:08to you and only up to you. You have the power to decide if
- 48:13you're going to be overweight and miserable and feeling
- 48:18horrible, or if you're going to be slimmer and happier and
- 48:22enjoying life to the full. So look at EU behind the store
- 48:26on the right. Wow, absolutely amazing.
- 48:33Looking like a different person, much slimmer and healthier, more
- 48:40confident, lighter in your feet. Eyes are sparkling and skin's
- 48:47clear, full of energy and full of life.
- 48:54Look at the clothes they're wearing and look how happy they
- 48:59are. They do not eat huge portions
- 49:04that you behind that door on the right.
- 49:06No, they don't eat huge portions.
- 49:09They don't eat just because they think they're hungry.
- 49:12They actually wait for a physical appetite to come and
- 49:17they don't want to put the chocolate and the sugar and the
- 49:21so-called treats and convenience foods into their body.
- 49:24It's not that they can't remember.
- 49:27We're all grown up. We can do what we want.
- 49:29It's not that they can't, but it's because they don't actually
- 49:32want to. Why would they want to do that
- 49:35to themselves? Now it's time to make your
- 49:39decision. And the decision is not will I
- 49:42choose the left room or the right room?
- 49:44The decision is, do I continue to stay in the room on the left
- 49:50or do I make a lifestyle change to choose the door to the right?
- 49:56Because the truth is, as long as you've carried excess weight in
- 49:58your body, you've already been living in that room on the left.
- 50:02So it's time to say goodbye to that lifestyle.
- 50:05And I'm going to count from 5 down to 1 before we do that.
- 50:09And allow your mind and body relax even deeper as your
- 50:13subconscious gets ready to make this decision. 5.
- 50:17Going deeper and deeper relaxed 4 all the way down 3 deeper and
- 50:31deeper relaxed two, just letting go.
- 50:36That's it. And one, OK, it's time to make
- 50:41your decision now. I'm going to remain silent on
- 50:45the count of three for one minute.
- 50:48And in that minute, you need to find your desire, resolve,
- 50:53strengthen commitment and that need to change your lifestyle
- 50:58and relationship with food. Now if you don't, then you're
- 51:01deciding to remain in that room on the left.
- 51:05And why would you want to do that to yourself?
- 51:08OK, get ready 1/2 3. OK, now, well done.
- 52:06That's fantastic. You have decided to be in
- 52:10control of your health and your weight and your happiness.
- 52:13And what a powerful decision this is.
- 52:18Your subconscious mind now fully accepts the suggestion that
- 52:23you'll be free from overeating, free from eating junk food, and
- 52:29you'll achieve the changes that you want.
- 52:33And from now on, you'll always be healthier and free to be
- 52:37happier and healthier for the rest of your life.
- 52:45Now in a moment, I'm going to emerge you.
- 52:48I'm going to count from 1:00 to 3:00 and on the count of three,
- 52:52and not before. Your eyes will open easily and
- 52:56effortlessly, and your conscious mind will take back full
- 53:00control. One, slowly coming back to your
- 53:06normal awareness, and two, feel your eyes clearing as if they've
- 53:14been bathed in a cool mountain spring.
- 53:19And three, feeling good in every way, your eyes opening as your
- 53:24conscious mind takes back full awareness.
- 53:52Thank you so much for that, Rosie.
- 53:53I, I had a great little experience there.
- 53:55That was, that was fantastic. I'm just going to share a little
- 54:01bit of my thoughts as I was kind of on that, on that kind of
- 54:03process. And, and I just kind of that
- 54:07kind of first room on the left, you know, I could kind of see
- 54:11myself because I've, I've got family members, like uncles, my
- 54:15dad, like, I kind of know that a lot of my genetics is
- 54:18predisposed to have like a, like a big belly.
- 54:21So I just kind of saw that future with a big belly, But I
- 54:23also know that I'm capable of being quite athletic looking
- 54:27and, and that kind of stuff. So that kind of other room was
- 54:29kind of like a very lean and kind of like muscular and, and,
- 54:34and kind of a lot kind of happier sky high confidence.
- 54:38So I found that a really useful kind of element and yeah, and
- 54:43also what I was doing differently to get to each one.
- 54:45Lots of kind of processed foods for the left room and lots of
- 54:48kind of lean proteins and and kind of lots of vegetables in
- 54:52the right room. So yeah, it was a brilliant,
- 54:54brilliant last session. Thank you for that.
- 54:55Was there anything you wanted to kind of explain or kind of
- 54:59highlight about that session? I think for the say for anyone
- 55:05who might be listening to this. My advice would be that room on
- 55:09the left, you can really personalize it on a 1:00 to
- 55:121:00, but you can really get a really good benefit out of it as
- 55:16well if you just allow yourself feel the pain.
- 55:20You know me as Rosie, a normal person.
- 55:23I'm a mother too. I don't like to put pain into
- 55:25people, but when people come to me for help, that part is very
- 55:29important that you feel that pain so.
- 55:34If you were. With me on a one to one basis
- 55:37there, I probably would have known from doing an intake with
- 55:40you what you wouldn't like. You know what you would hate
- 55:44that room in the left to look like.
- 55:45So I would have probably sat. You would have been sitting
- 55:48there with a big belly. You know, without a doubt that
- 55:51would have been because I, I would have known that was your
- 55:52pain point. But in the classes or even
- 55:56someone listening to audio, you can't personalize it.
- 55:59But when you're in there, my advice would be allow yourself
- 56:02feel the pain and it's all for your benefit.
- 56:05You know, it's not that you're going to be left there.
- 56:07You know, hypnosis is very safe. But if you let yourself feel
- 56:10that pain, make it as bad as you possibly can, It's attitude
- 56:15change. We want.
- 56:16We want you coming out of the session with a change of
- 56:19attitude. So you don't want to do that to
- 56:20yourself. So there's a good reason for
- 56:23that. I'm not trying to.
- 56:25No, no, of course. And I think a lot of listeners
- 56:27to the show will know that because quite often I use
- 56:30particularly for kind of bad habits or addictions, it's kind
- 56:32of like associated to the future.
- 56:33You don't want to reach the point of threshold to make a
- 56:37decision for the future that you do want.
- 56:38And, and I think it's a great strategy because if you don't,
- 56:42you're going to get to that place anyway.
- 56:44And it's better to kind of imagine the pain that you don't
- 56:47want rather than actually have the pain that you don't want.
- 56:49Like that's a, that's a much, that's a much better, you know,
- 56:52kind of choice there. Rosie, it's been great having
- 56:55you on the show today. Just give us again your details
