- 0:03Speaker 1: Butlet cav show where we got a special guest in here.
- 0:05Speaker 1: It's not very often that we get somebody I could
- 0:07Speaker 1: say is a living legend. This is the case today, Man, Ludacris, I.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Want to come to the syndicated people. Man, I want
- 0:13Speaker 2: to come to the people that's in one hundred million
- 0:16Speaker 2: different markets.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Man, that's who I want to do interviews with.
- 0:19Speaker 1: You know what's crazy, Luda is a little unknown story.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I used to be on the radio at a place
- 0:25Speaker 1: in Vegas called KVG, and I had made the plan
- 0:31Speaker 1: to quit, but we had an interview scheduled labor day
- 0:35Speaker 1: weekend in twenty twelve, and I hung onto the job
- 0:38Speaker 1: for like an extra two weeks just to get the Ludacris.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Interview over the finish line.
- 0:42Speaker 1: And that day we did the interview, and then I
- 0:44Speaker 1: went on the radio that Sunday.
- 0:45Speaker 2: And quit on the radio. I love it. You never
- 0:47Speaker 2: told me this story. That's a dope story. And he
- 0:50Speaker 2: was in Phoenix too, because I Phoenix. Yeah, pimping all
- 0:53Speaker 2: over the world area.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Codes as you would say, Yeah, you see what.
- 0:56Speaker 2: We did there?
- 0:57Speaker 1: Pro anyway, Man, I'm welcome, dude. I'm glad this here.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I feel like I get excited when you have the music.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Bug. Man, thank you man, you have so much going on. Yeah, Like,
- 1:07Speaker 2: I feel like you gotta love it, man, Like humbly speaking,
- 1:11Speaker 2: ten albums, and it feels crazy to even say that, right,
- 1:14Speaker 2: and it's just being real. There's so many people in
- 1:17Speaker 2: the game that you get over the sophomore jinks, even
- 1:20Speaker 2: if you get to the sophomore jinks. But to honestly,
- 1:23Speaker 2: it be twenty five years in the game, right to
- 1:25Speaker 2: have ten albums. You can hear it in my voice, man.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Sometimes been in the game that long, you kind of
- 1:31Speaker 2: got to take a break and you really got to
- 1:33Speaker 2: become a fan again, because this industry will mess you
- 1:36Speaker 2: up with all the you know, the business behind the
- 1:38Speaker 2: scenes and how people act and the craziness. It's like
- 1:42Speaker 2: I need one of them little men in black, like
- 1:44Speaker 2: you know the thing and where they flash you so
- 1:46Speaker 2: you could just go back. And all I'm saying is
- 1:48Speaker 2: that sometimes you take a break in order to kind
- 1:51Speaker 2: of revitalize yourself and really understand what you got in
- 1:54Speaker 2: it for as opposed to just putting out music.
- 1:56Speaker 3: And so I'm back at that point. Man.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I'm loving I'm loving music. Loving the video aspect. I
- 2:01Speaker 2: don't know if you saw.
- 2:02Speaker 1: It's just vintage MTV.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I'm like, this is why we like.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I remember you were like you, and obviously before you
- 2:09Speaker 1: a bit was missy, but you were the guy who
- 2:10Speaker 1: came in the game and busted two man and just
- 2:13Speaker 1: went crazy, and we have all these iconic moments.
- 2:16Speaker 2: You know, we think. I appreciate that. So that's partly
- 2:18Speaker 2: why I wanted to do that pull over video the
- 2:20Speaker 2: way that I did it. Man, it's give that nostalgia
- 2:22Speaker 2: and you know, give you some real, real funny, crazy,
- 2:26Speaker 2: ludicrous wild visuals to go along with the brand.
- 2:29Speaker 3: It's right on brand.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I gotta ask you.
- 2:31Speaker 1: So I bought Timberland's solo album, Tim's Bio as a kid,
- 2:36Speaker 1: and Fat Rabbit was on that album.
- 2:38Speaker 2: That was the first commercial success I had.
- 2:40Speaker 1: That ended up being on your first album too. But
- 2:42Speaker 1: that was the first song. It's like time I had
- 2:44Speaker 1: ever even heard you.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I was like, yo, this guy's and it wasn't even
- 2:47Speaker 2: a single like it was on his album Cut, but
- 2:49Speaker 2: it was my first time being on an album. I
- 2:51Speaker 2: basically pulled it off and promoted it myself. Yeah, so
- 2:55Speaker 2: that was this crazy that you say that because that
- 2:57Speaker 2: was and that was from me working at the radio station.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Timberland came to the radio station in Atlanta and was like,
- 3:02Speaker 2: who is this kid? I heard rapping on the radio
- 3:05Speaker 2: and Shako was the manager at the time because he
- 3:07Speaker 2: was the music director, and I was able to give
- 3:09Speaker 2: Timberland my demo and from there that's how me getting
- 3:13Speaker 2: on this album happened. I'll tell you a crazy story
- 3:16Speaker 2: that I haven't really told anybody. I was working at
- 3:18Speaker 2: the station. I was not signed to a contract, so
- 3:20Speaker 2: they could have fired me any day. I was the
- 3:22Speaker 2: youngest person at the radio station, like eighteen seventeen, eighteen
- 3:25Speaker 2: years old. In order to go Timberland was like, I
- 3:29Speaker 2: want you to come to Virginia. This is where I'm
- 3:30Speaker 2: recording this album. But I need you to come like
- 3:33Speaker 2: on random Thursday. I was like, in my mind, I'm like, bro,
- 3:36Speaker 2: there's no way I could take off from this station.
- 3:38Speaker 2: They'll fire me miss the show. I'm gonna miss the show.
- 3:41Speaker 2: So I had to tell them and God bless rest
- 3:45Speaker 2: in peace. My grandmother said, my grandmother just died. I
- 3:49Speaker 2: have to go to the funeral in New York. I
- 3:51Speaker 2: used my grandmother to go record Fat Rabbit with Timberland
- 3:55Speaker 2: in Virginia and I got off.
- 3:58Speaker 1: I can't even tell you the amount of times I've
- 3:59Speaker 1: used my grandma. Once she had actually died.
- 4:03Speaker 3: I was like, okay, oh man, I.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Was like, I could you I could apply this her
- 4:07Speaker 1: dying to a lot of like citr ibo.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Man, grandma's not doing well. My grandmother would forgive me.
- 4:12Speaker 2: But I'm telling you, man, that's exactly what I did.
- 4:14Speaker 2: My rest is history. That is fire.
- 4:16Speaker 1: So you go to Virginia, you work with Tim. Was
- 4:19Speaker 1: there anybody else in the studio at the time? Was
- 4:21Speaker 1: it like, because that that was a star studded album,
- 4:23Speaker 1: like Jaz was on that album, like.
- 4:24Speaker 2: No, no, no, no no. I think this was like
- 4:26Speaker 2: one of the last ones he was doing for this song.
- 4:28Speaker 2: So it was me and him engineer, you know, Jimmy Douglass.
- 4:31Speaker 2: This is world right now. Uh.
- 4:33Speaker 3: And I was just so excited.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Man. It was my first time. Timlin my favorite producer
- 4:37Speaker 2: till this day.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yeah. Man.
- 4:40Speaker 2: And then next thing, you know, organized noise I did
- 4:42Speaker 2: game got switched with him. I was the first rapper
- 4:46Speaker 2: on Madden two thousands. Youer, main dupre put me on
- 4:49Speaker 2: a video game. It feels crazy because at the time.
- 4:54Speaker 2: I forget. We got to look that up. We're gonna
- 4:56Speaker 2: google that real quick. Madd in two thousand. It was
- 5:00Speaker 2: in two thousand. It was John Madden. It was there.
- 5:04Speaker 2: You go, yeah, that's crazy. It was before they started playing,
- 5:06Speaker 2: so history first rapper to rap on a video game
- 5:09Speaker 2: thanks to Jermaine Dupree.
- 5:10Speaker 1: That is incredible. Man, did Tim try to sign you?
- 5:13Speaker 2: He did try to sign me at the time, but
- 5:16Speaker 2: I forget what happened with the contract. There was like
- 5:18Speaker 2: so much going on at the time to where I
- 5:20Speaker 2: just decided to put the album out on my own independently.
- 5:24Speaker 2: But man, still, obviously I got loved for Tim Lee
- 5:27Speaker 2: went on to do roll Out. We did Potion together,
- 5:30Speaker 2: which I still perform to this day. One of the
- 5:32Speaker 2: hardest instrumentals of all time. Crazy, right, Jesus for to
- 5:36Speaker 2: like to stand the test of time, and people still
- 5:38Speaker 2: putting that.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Rap on that record too, Like it's still like a
- 5:42Speaker 1: go to, like yo put the Potion on.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I agree.
- 5:44Speaker 1: When you watched the jay Z documentary and saw that
- 5:46Speaker 1: he had passed on it, yep, what were your thoughts, Like,
- 5:49Speaker 1: I thank god he passed.
- 5:51Speaker 2: You know, it's the thing with artists. You asked any
- 5:54Speaker 2: artist a hit song that's out and they're gonna say
- 5:57Speaker 2: they passed up on the beat, like it's it happens
- 6:00Speaker 2: with every single person. So I've done that before I
- 6:03Speaker 2: got to think of what I did that on. But
- 6:06Speaker 2: when I saw it, I was just like, that's dope,
- 6:08Speaker 2: Like I actually picked and that did a song that
- 6:10Speaker 2: was going to jay Z. Because we idolized jay Z
- 6:13Speaker 2: every time I was on Death Jam. You know, he
- 6:14Speaker 2: was number one on the call sheet, as they could say.
- 6:17Speaker 2: And so when people say, you know, we had the
- 6:21Speaker 2: the hardest era of music, you really think about that.
- 6:24Speaker 2: It was me, it was jay Z, it was DMX,
- 6:27Speaker 2: it was Eminem, you know what I mean.
- 6:28Speaker 3: And it was like.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Multi platinum every single rap solo artist. And so I'm
- 6:35Speaker 2: in the category with these individuals for every award, and
- 6:39Speaker 2: I'm losing for the first five years. Every single time,
- 6:42Speaker 2: Eminem whooping my ass. Jay Z beat me in every category.
- 6:46Speaker 2: But I kept consistent and I stayed at it, and
- 6:49Speaker 2: eventually I started winning the damn Awards.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I don't know if they were taking breaks.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I don't know if I just got right, you know,
- 6:54Speaker 2: the right time in after year five or six.
- 6:56Speaker 3: But after that, it was all the way up.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Do you remember a time like, do you remember any
- 7:00Speaker 1: records you passed on her hooks or anything where you
- 7:02Speaker 1: were like, oh.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Damn, you know what's crazy? Go girl, it's your birthday.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Open one man. Trey Songs, I think I was. I
- 7:12Speaker 2: was supposed to get on that record, and I don't
- 7:14Speaker 2: remember exactly what happened, but I messed that up for
- 7:18Speaker 2: some reason.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I don't know if I was too big.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Like that was the era where Trey Songs.
- 7:21Speaker 1: There was like three or four artists that were just
- 7:23Speaker 1: doing hooksher records, and it was like Trey.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Songs was brutal mars that went on to be a
- 7:28Speaker 2: hit song, and it was supposed to happen like that.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Fabulous killed the verse. I'm one of those people like
- 7:32Speaker 2: I don't really resent or regret anything. It's more of
- 7:35Speaker 2: everything happens the way that they're supposed to. So salute
- 7:38Speaker 2: to Trey and Fabulous for making that a hit record. Man.
- 7:41Speaker 2: She immediately come in the game.
- 7:43Speaker 1: You've already worked with timbaland, you already got the Timbo
- 7:45Speaker 1: Co sign. Your breakout first record on the debut album
- 7:49Speaker 1: of Southern Hospitality, which is a phar real beat which
- 7:52Speaker 1: is a Neptune's beat what like in the heyday of
- 7:55Speaker 1: the Neptunes era. That's pretty early in the Neptune.
- 7:59Speaker 3: It was early. That was the last song that I
- 8:00Speaker 3: recorded for the album.
- 8:01Speaker 2: We had to turn the album in like in like
- 8:03Speaker 2: a day, and I remember going to Virginia again.
- 8:05Speaker 3: We went to Virginia. It was me and Shaka.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Something the water out there by the way. Oh absolutely,
- 8:10Speaker 2: Pharrell put on that beat. I was like, I kind
- 8:13Speaker 2: of like it. I go, I go in the damn
- 8:14Speaker 2: car and I'll just write within like I'd say, forty
- 8:17Speaker 2: five minutes wrote all verses, go back in there, spit it,
- 8:21Speaker 2: and Shaka and Pharrell are going crazy, this is it.
- 8:24Speaker 2: This is the one. I'm just sitting there like it's cool,
- 8:27Speaker 2: Like Oden bowls in there.
- 8:31Speaker 3: So I'm thinking it's cool.
- 8:33Speaker 2: So the answer to to towards that point, I did
- 8:36Speaker 2: not realize Southern Hospitality, the Throat and Bow's record was
- 8:39Speaker 2: the record that everyone realizes it is today. I did
- 8:42Speaker 2: not know it was a hit. I just thought it
- 8:43Speaker 2: was another album cut. Well that was that. I was
- 8:46Speaker 2: actually the second single, was it? What's Your Fantasy? Was
- 8:47Speaker 2: the first thing? Fantasy was the first. Yeah, crazy man. Yeah,
- 8:50Speaker 2: what a time, dude. Listen man, history, what is that?
- 8:54Speaker 1: In two thousand, two.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Thousand, So incog Negro album came out in nineteen ninety nine,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I was and that was the end of record. I
- 9:01Speaker 2: was the independent record So technically I got ten albums
- 9:03Speaker 2: out now, but that was the independent one that I
- 9:06Speaker 2: sold on my own. I sold fifty thousand copies at
- 9:09Speaker 2: seven dollars a pop, so I had a three hundred
- 9:11Speaker 2: and fifty thousand dollars check before I was twenty one
- 9:14Speaker 2: years old.
- 9:15Speaker 1: While you're on the radio, right, while I'm on the radio,
- 9:17Speaker 1: does your PD have any problems with you? Like I
- 9:21Speaker 1: always wondered, like the og radio stories like you're cracking
- 9:24Speaker 1: in the city.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Yeah, is your PD getting nervous that.
- 9:26Speaker 1: You might leave?
- 9:27Speaker 3: Or is That was the thing? Man?
- 9:29Speaker 2: The thing is that they never signed me to a contract.
- 9:32Speaker 2: They were at they were tripping when I left, but
- 9:35Speaker 2: they didn't know it was gonna happen.
- 9:36Speaker 3: So this song is blowing up.
- 9:37Speaker 2: One of the greatest days of my life is signing
- 9:40Speaker 2: my deaf Jam contract knowing I'm about to get a
- 9:42Speaker 2: seven figure check. While I was on the air, while
- 9:44Speaker 2: commercials are playing, you got like a seven minute timeframe. Yep,
- 9:48Speaker 2: somebody brought me my contract. Got you know, my lawyer
- 9:51Speaker 2: had already read it over. I'm signing it and just
- 9:53Speaker 2: smiling to myself, like, Okay, after this shift, I'm gonna go,
- 9:56Speaker 2: and I'm gonna say I'm putting my two weeks in
- 9:58Speaker 2: and I'm out of here, and it's still all love
- 10:01Speaker 2: at the station. But to answer again towards your point,
- 10:04Speaker 2: they did not sign me to a contract, so they
- 10:06Speaker 2: have me every day feeling like I could get fired, right,
- 10:08Speaker 2: And I was naive, you know what I mean. I
- 10:10Speaker 2: didn't know the business like that. I was the youngest
- 10:11Speaker 2: person at the station. I was just happy to be there.
- 10:13Speaker 2: You get to be on the damn station. You get
- 10:15Speaker 2: to go do clubs. I'm getting cash I got. I'm
- 10:20Speaker 2: like wilding out here in these streets. Sure, I was
- 10:22Speaker 2: having a great time.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Was there any like once you left? Did the station
- 10:26Speaker 1: hold it against you a little? Did it take them
- 10:28Speaker 1: a while?
- 10:29Speaker 3: No?
- 10:29Speaker 2: They could embrace you.
- 10:30Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. They could not hold it against me.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Everyone at this station had a contract for at least
- 10:35Speaker 2: a year, right, but me, And they're like, well.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Chris left, so I don't know if we're gonna be
- 10:41Speaker 1: the first to play his.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Song now, Yeah, And it was the young thing. It
- 10:44Speaker 2: was me and Pooon Daddy, and like I said, we
- 10:46Speaker 2: were the youngest up at the station. So I think
- 10:47Speaker 2: they just they felt like I needed it, and then
- 10:50Speaker 2: they realized later that I didn't.
- 10:52Speaker 1: All Right, another podcast brought to you by odd Socks.
- 10:55Speaker 1: That's right, baby, Listen, guys, we gotta stop playing here.

- 11:24Speaker 1: you got the ankle socks, whether you got the anklet socks,

- 11:30Speaker 1: They got all kind of flavors for y'all. And of
- 11:32Speaker 1: course the vintage you know, odd Socks, man, they got
- 11:35Speaker 1: the licensing game on Smash shot out to them because
- 11:38Speaker 1: they just did an incredible job with their odd Socks
- 11:41Speaker 1: pop up in Tampa.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Whatever you're into man.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Of course, they got the Budweiser, they got the Michelo,
- 11:47Speaker 1: they got that. They even got fucking liquid death socks.

- 12:10Speaker 1: were odd socks. Yes, cut to the footage. It looks great.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Shout out to odd Socks. Use that promo code. Support
- 12:16Speaker 1: our family, all right, odd socksofficial dot com promo code
- 12:19Speaker 1: bootleg and save some money and get some socks.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Man, Thank me later.
- 12:23Speaker 1: So you're the first artist signed to deaf Jam South,
- 12:26Speaker 1: which Scarface is the president of. Yes, so there's like
- 12:29Speaker 1: this idea of deaf Jam South. It's like this new thing.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And back then you would hear like death Row East
- 12:34Speaker 1: or like yeah, you know what I mean? Was it
- 12:37Speaker 1: who was like the was it Scarface that initially reached out?
- 12:41Speaker 1: Like what was that whole process like getting in again?
- 12:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Kevin Lyles and Scarface reached out at the same time.
- 12:46Speaker 2: But that's another good question because as the as the
- 12:50Speaker 2: song is blowing up, I'm starting to get calls from
- 12:53Speaker 2: different all the different record companies. Literally I went to Electra,
- 12:57Speaker 2: I went to Atlantic, I went to Sown and that
- 13:00Speaker 2: just kind of you know, sitting me down, taking me
- 13:02Speaker 2: through the office. This is gonna be a CEO. This
- 13:05Speaker 2: is what we're gonna do for you that radio. And
- 13:07Speaker 2: then I went to death Jam. They weren't even offering
- 13:10Speaker 2: the most upfront money, but it was just something about
- 13:13Speaker 2: death Jam with Kevin Lyles, with scar especially at that
- 13:17Speaker 2: time that time. But here's the thing, though, I was
- 13:19Speaker 2: the first artist from the South signed to Death Jam.
- 13:21Speaker 2: They had nothing but a whole bunch of mostly New
- 13:24Speaker 2: York artists. So there was a time where we were like,
- 13:27Speaker 2: is this going to work? Should we even do this?
- 13:29Speaker 2: Because do they know how to work a Southern artist?
- 13:32Speaker 2: So yeah, it looks good now because it eventually worked out,
- 13:35Speaker 2: but at the time we were still risk. I took
- 13:37Speaker 2: a risk, but my heart and my spirit told me
- 13:40Speaker 2: that's where I needed to be. Plus ll Cool Jay
- 13:43Speaker 2: is my hero. He's kind of who inspired me want
- 13:45Speaker 2: to rap in the first place. He was the first
- 13:47Speaker 2: rap artist signed to.
- 13:50Speaker 1: We're like, Yo, I'm gonna be the first Southern artist.
- 13:51Speaker 1: That's what make it happen.
- 13:52Speaker 3: That's it.
- 13:53Speaker 2: And I don't know if you saw, but twenty five
- 13:55Speaker 2: year anniversary, we just did a show in Atlanta called
- 13:58Speaker 2: One Music Fest. My management surprised me and had LL
- 14:01Speaker 2: cool J come out. I got the rap with LL
- 14:04Speaker 2: cool J on stage.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Oh, that was the first rapper I ever met as
- 14:08Speaker 1: a kid or super nice.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yeah. It was a jewelry store in Arizona. It was cool.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I had all world.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I had him sign it. I mean the greatest. Yeah,
- 14:15Speaker 1: shout out to l So he was cool though, Yeah,
- 14:17Speaker 1: super cool.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Yeah man, that's that's just how he is. Man.
- 14:20Speaker 3: You gotta love it.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I always wonder when you are in the studio making
- 14:23Speaker 1: the song, like, ho, this is one of my favorite songs.
- 14:27Speaker 2: It's such a brilliant song.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Then somebody else just as this.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Go ahead, go ahead, but just like what is the
- 14:33Speaker 1: like like like what is the inspiration behind you writing
- 14:35Speaker 1: the song?
- 14:36Speaker 2: And like what is the vibe?
- 14:37Speaker 1: Because no one has written the whole like you really
- 14:39Speaker 1: broke down that term right in a very crazy like way, great,
- 14:44Speaker 1: great question.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Like I was telling you, I was at the radio
- 14:46Speaker 2: station at that time, even when I wrote that record,
- 14:48Speaker 2: So I was wild in the studio at the station
- 14:51Speaker 2: sometimes doing that sometimes too, but just just living it
- 14:55Speaker 2: and knowing about, you know, being promiscuous in these streets.
- 14:58Speaker 2: But I also am a fan of comedy. I'm a
- 15:01Speaker 2: fan of We were just talking about like silly television,
- 15:04Speaker 2: so silly ass movies. You know. Coming to America is
- 15:08Speaker 2: one of my favorite movies. And this is the end.
- 15:11Speaker 2: It's crazy stupid shit like that. When you incorporate comedy
- 15:16Speaker 2: and stand up comedy, and you incorporate me being a
- 15:18Speaker 2: hip hop fan, and you incorporate all of these things together.
- 15:22Speaker 2: To answer your question about how I come up with
- 15:24Speaker 2: that stuff? Where us a whole, It's just combining all
- 15:26Speaker 2: of those elements. That's what makes Ludacris Ludacris.
- 15:29Speaker 1: What is Scarface's reaction to hearing Hope for the first time?
- 15:33Speaker 1: I just got to I wonder what he's like. Does
- 15:35Speaker 1: he got any notice?
- 15:36Speaker 2: Psyche? So Scarface is one of the greatest rappers of
- 15:39Speaker 2: our time in terms of storytelling, he is one of
- 15:45Speaker 2: those So when he heard that record, you could tell
- 15:48Speaker 2: that he knew I had a little bit of ghetto
- 15:50Speaker 2: boys in Scarface DNA, but I just added my Ludacris
- 15:53Speaker 2: element to it. So I think that he was proud.
- 15:57Speaker 2: He was a proud man. It's just proud because he
- 15:59Speaker 2: sees me doing something than unique and doing it of
- 16:01Speaker 2: my own. And by the way, I come from a
- 16:03Speaker 2: background of loving like Red Man was was one of
- 16:06Speaker 2: the artists that I really loved, and he kind of
- 16:08Speaker 2: had that kind of comedic element. So you think about that,
- 16:13Speaker 2: I am the summation of a lot, all of it,
- 16:15Speaker 2: of all of it. Yeah, common common Sense is one
- 16:17Speaker 2: of my favorites. Red Man, one of my favorites. Snoop
- 16:21Speaker 2: Dogg of course, who I got to work with. I
- 16:22Speaker 2: got to work with all of my heroes.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Man, you you kind of spike the whole sophomore slump
- 16:29Speaker 1: thing out of the park with Word of Mouth.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Is you know a classic album? Yeah?
- 16:35Speaker 1: Also the first album I could remember that had a
- 16:37Speaker 1: hidden track where you had to get through block on
- 16:39Speaker 1: lockdown at the because at the end of it was
- 16:42Speaker 1: like the one to Atlanta remix, but it was like
- 16:44Speaker 1: two minutes of silence before it kicked in.
- 16:46Speaker 2: He just reminded me about that we gotta bring well,
- 16:50Speaker 2: I guess we can't bring that back. Yeah, Like if
- 16:52Speaker 2: you play stream a song and it's at the end
- 16:54Speaker 2: of that song, but there was all.
- 16:55Speaker 1: The silence at the end, So like I remember, I
- 16:58Speaker 1: would have my CD player and I'd be having a
- 16:59Speaker 1: fast far fucker to get to the Walk by the Ways,
- 17:01Speaker 1: one of my favorite records that is Block on Lockdown.
- 17:03Speaker 2: That's my shit.
- 17:04Speaker 3: I appreciate that.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Man, You're gonna make me go back and listen to it,
- 17:07Speaker 1: but no, like for you, man, Like I just remember
- 17:09Speaker 1: like Rollout coming out in the video, and it just
- 17:13Speaker 1: felt like as much as like your first album was
- 17:15Speaker 1: like you arriving, it felt like, oh, this motherfucker's start coming.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Out another great story. This is how you know bouleg
- 17:21Speaker 2: kV is good at what he does. He asks questions
- 17:23Speaker 2: that invoke memories that I don't even know that nobody
- 17:26Speaker 2: else asked. So roll Out video before picture it without
- 17:31Speaker 2: the big head like without the post effects. We at
- 17:34Speaker 2: death Jam in my disturbing the piece. We shot this
- 17:37Speaker 2: video and we could not figure out what made it special.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Everybody was like this videos trash, it's nothing. It's literally
- 17:44Speaker 2: nothing going on here. When we decided to add the
- 17:47Speaker 2: element of the big head. It took it from we're
- 17:49Speaker 2: about to trash this video too. This is one of
- 17:52Speaker 2: the best videos that's gonna last and stay ever in
- 17:55Speaker 2: people's brains forever. Yeah, so I just had to bring you,
- 17:58Speaker 2: just brought back that memory that before we had the
- 18:00Speaker 2: big Heir roll out video, was he was gonna trash it. Yeah,
- 18:03Speaker 2: it was bad, that's crazy.
- 18:05Speaker 3: It was nothing. It was nothing.
- 18:06Speaker 2: It was it to and who did it?
- 18:08Speaker 1: Because that's that's something like ahead of the time of
- 18:11Speaker 1: editing there.
- 18:11Speaker 2: I don't know what I want to say. I don't
- 18:14Speaker 2: I don't remember the director. We gotta look that up,
- 18:17Speaker 2: but I just remember like the storyline and none of this,
- 18:21Speaker 2: none of it made any sense. And he was just
- 18:23Speaker 2: like I said, it's big ass head to it and
- 18:24Speaker 2: all of a sudden it make because it's Ludacris.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Oh, that album has area codes, it's got Saturdays on it,
- 18:32Speaker 1: it's got move Bitch on it, yeap, move Bitch all time,
- 18:37Speaker 1: Caucasian rap song, whatever wedding you're at, whatever fucking it
- 18:42Speaker 1: could be fifty five year old white people.
- 18:44Speaker 2: They play move Bitch and they sing that ship when
- 18:46Speaker 2: I perform that record, it's a it's a crime because
- 18:49Speaker 2: I hold the mic out to the crowd. They paid
- 18:52Speaker 2: to see me. I don't have to do a damn thing.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I it's a crime.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Well, that was the era too, where songs would get
- 18:58Speaker 1: banned in the club.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Will You'd be like, like, yo, there'd.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Be records you could like, you couldn't play in the club.
- 19:03Speaker 1: It'd be like knuck if you buck, that's right, move
- 19:06Speaker 1: like I feel like. Move Bitch was kind of one
- 19:07Speaker 1: of those.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Records people will get killed. Bro, You're a thousand percent right.
- 19:11Speaker 2: You gotta be careful about where you perform it too,
- 19:13Speaker 2: because fights breakout. Obviously. It was one of those. It
- 19:16Speaker 2: still is one of those. It's a beautiful thing. Man.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Thank you to all the fans for ingraining all of
- 19:22Speaker 2: these songs in the culture for the last two decades.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Let's keep it moving.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Shout out to our brothers a hard Dean man OTTs family.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Of course, they've been sponsoring the podcast for years now.
- 19:31Speaker 1: You've been seeing the mic flag for years now. Want
- 19:33Speaker 1: to give a shout out to our brothers. I just
- 19:34Speaker 1: was in Vegas. I had to pull up all right. Look,
- 19:36Speaker 1: it's the number one dispensary in the world. When I
- 19:39Speaker 1: tell you, you walk in that thing and the butt tenders
- 19:42Speaker 1: are great. They take care of you immediately. The selection
- 19:45Speaker 1: is great. So when you go to Vegas, you get
- 19:47Speaker 1: into that cab, you get into that uber immediately say
- 19:50Speaker 1: take me to Hardean.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Don't know what they're doing, all right?
- 19:52Speaker 1: They go get you right, all right, the number one
- 19:54Speaker 1: premium cannabis dispensary in the world. They just got me right.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I was just in town for Raffi's birthday.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Had to pull up. Get right, this.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Nice little one on one Hardean jersey.
- 20:04Speaker 2: These are not available, all right?
- 20:06Speaker 1: Shot to them, man, all right, salute to the family.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Follow him on Instagram. Hardean Underscore Las Vegas. Sorry, let's
- 20:11Speaker 1: get back to the podcast. What was like for you man?
- 20:14Speaker 1: Like DTP has this historical roster of artists. I mean,
- 20:17Speaker 1: you're you're part of so many people's careers. Back then,
- 20:21Speaker 1: it felt like the like rapper owning a label thing
- 20:25Speaker 1: could go one of two ways, Like you could have
- 20:27Speaker 1: a label and just sign your homies and like hope
- 20:30Speaker 1: for the best. But I feel like you and Shaka
- 20:32Speaker 1: were signing artist and like the goal was like for
- 20:35Speaker 1: them to be bigger than you. You wouldn't mind that
- 20:37Speaker 1: because I remember CHENI was on Dog Got the Double
- 20:39Speaker 1: XL with Chini on the cover.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Over there on the table. Jingy sold more records than
- 20:42Speaker 2: me on that Jackpie record on the album I think
- 20:44Speaker 2: it was called Jackpot and I had chicken and beer out.
- 20:47Speaker 2: I sold like three million, he had like three and
- 20:49Speaker 2: a half. Yeah, he went crazy. It was always the
- 20:51Speaker 2: goal to sign artists that were gonna be bigger than me.
- 20:54Speaker 2: You know, Bobby v you know, went platinum, Shauna had,
- 20:58Speaker 2: Shauna had a record, so it's like, like, man, come on, man,
- 21:01Speaker 2: like that was the goal. We had artists, and all
- 21:03Speaker 2: of these artists performed with me on the twenty five year.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Can you tell me I'm a kid from Phoenix?
- 21:07Speaker 2: Yeah? What do you think went wrong with the Willy
- 21:09Speaker 2: north Pole project? The Connect?
- 21:11Speaker 1: Because I bought like ten copies of that shit?
- 21:13Speaker 2: Man, I don't even know.
- 21:14Speaker 3: I don't know. I'd answer that question because I.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Love Willie north Pole, great guy, phenomenal, no album, you
- 21:20Speaker 2: know what.
- 21:20Speaker 1: He had the Hood Dreaming record with Bob, but it
- 21:22Speaker 1: was damn near like nine months too early before Bob,
- 21:25Speaker 1: like really.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Cracky, and some of that might be timing, and some
- 21:28Speaker 2: of it might be we believe in the artist is
- 21:30Speaker 2: disturbing the piece, but ultimately deaf Jam has to distribute
- 21:34Speaker 2: it and they have to put the money behind it
- 21:35Speaker 2: as well. And so sometimes what our vision is deaf
- 21:38Speaker 2: Jam doesn't match the vision of what we're trying to do.
- 21:41Speaker 2: So I would probably say it was a combination of
- 21:43Speaker 2: those things.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Can you tell me what's Nate Dog like?
- 21:46Speaker 2: Man?
- 21:46Speaker 1: You know, obviously Nate's one of those guys who.
- 21:48Speaker 2: The chillest man, the coolest dude on earth. May he
- 21:51Speaker 2: rest in peace. I'm the biggest Nate dog fan. I'm
- 21:53Speaker 2: so glad I got a chance to work with him
- 21:55Speaker 2: numerous times. But I'll tell you, man just laid back
- 21:59Speaker 2: all about his work. Smoke, get high as hell, write
- 22:02Speaker 2: the verse, you know, write the right his.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Hooks, lay it down and go chill. Some more like us.
- 22:07Speaker 3: He just chill.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Do you give him the concept for area codes? And
- 22:10Speaker 1: does he come up with the hook or I think I.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Think we did.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Me and Jazzy Fay did that, and we was exactly
- 22:15Speaker 2: because of the verses were already done, so we knew
- 22:18Speaker 2: it was gonna be called area codes. But the way
- 22:20Speaker 2: that he broke it down. It was just like he
- 22:22Speaker 2: accentuated it.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Are you guys in with him? Or is it something
- 22:25Speaker 1: he sent over?
- 22:25Speaker 2: Like, because no, he was in there with him. I
- 22:27Speaker 2: brought I came here to La and worked with him,
- 22:29Speaker 2: and then I got on a record of his where
- 22:31Speaker 2: I had one of my favorite rap lines. I said
- 22:33Speaker 2: something about you got a frog in your throat like
- 22:35Speaker 2: miss Piggy given head or something like that. Crazy, but
- 22:38Speaker 2: it was on his record. But yeah, man, fun times,
- 22:40Speaker 2: all fun times. Did anybody feel like you left it? Like?
- 22:45Speaker 1: What was the area code you felt like you left out?
- 22:47Speaker 1: The Mostly you would get feedback from the fans.
- 22:49Speaker 3: I got a lot of feedback.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I want to say Hawaii was mad as hell. I
- 22:54Speaker 2: don't know if I said anyway, but it was definitely
- 22:56Speaker 2: a couple of area codes that were extremely.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Pissed that I left him out.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Can you tell me? Like I was, Like, I was like,
- 23:01Speaker 2: I'm sorry I didn't have ose there at the time,
- 23:03Speaker 2: Like I can be mad at me. The songs called
- 23:05Speaker 2: hose in different area codes. For sure, I need ose there, Okay,
- 23:08Speaker 2: Like when do.
- 23:09Speaker 1: You kind of know it's time? Like like obviously we
- 23:12Speaker 1: talked earlier, like when you get the itch to kind
- 23:14Speaker 1: of like like I guess, kind of get remotivated, but
- 23:17Speaker 1: it feels like you're really like super locked in. Is
- 23:21Speaker 1: when did when? When is it time for you to
- 23:22Speaker 1: be like, Okay, are you putting movie stuff to the
- 23:25Speaker 1: side while you're in music mode or you're still trying
- 23:27Speaker 1: to do both?
- 23:27Speaker 2: Can you do both?
- 23:29Speaker 3: Good question?
- 23:29Speaker 2: John Singleton may have me try out for Too Fast,
- 23:32Speaker 2: Too Furious. I was on tour with eminem at the time. Man,
- 23:35Speaker 2: I had to disturbing the Peace tour. Yeah, exactly, that was.
- 23:37Speaker 1: What Anger management.
- 23:41Speaker 2: I went to that tour. I think was Papa Roach
- 23:42Speaker 2: on that tour, I think, so, yeah, I was.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I went great memory, I snuck backstage. Exhibit was on
- 23:47Speaker 1: that tour, so it was King t and uh No
- 23:50Speaker 1: Sofa Sofia was on the tour.
- 23:52Speaker 2: So anyway, I was backstage and I had to put
- 23:54Speaker 2: these lines on tape to uh to send to John
- 23:57Speaker 2: Singleton and I got the part. And it's crazy that
- 24:00Speaker 2: you say that because I was always in the not
- 24:02Speaker 2: like I'm not trying to do both at the same time.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Because if I if I'm acting, I want to put
- 24:06Speaker 2: one hundred percent into the acting. If I'm doing music.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I want to put one hundred percent into it. I'm
- 24:11Speaker 2: not trying to convolute this and water it down. So
- 24:15Speaker 2: as long as you use your time wisely when you're shooting,
- 24:17Speaker 2: you shooting. As soon as you've done with that, man,
- 24:19Speaker 2: you go right back to the music. And that's what
- 24:21Speaker 2: I did for years, yeah, and still doing. At this point,
- 24:23Speaker 2: we're supposed to shoot one more fast you know, the finale, finale,
- 24:26Speaker 2: because the last one was open ended. So I've been
- 24:28Speaker 2: in seven Fast and Furious movies, believe it or not.
- 24:31Speaker 1: So is the next one for sure the final one?
- 24:33Speaker 3: You think final one? I feel like yes for us.
- 24:36Speaker 2: I feel like, just like Jurassic Park, I don't think
- 24:38Speaker 2: they'll ever get rid of.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I just feel like, eventually you guys are gonna end
- 24:41Speaker 1: up in a time machine and they'll be a fastening
- 24:43Speaker 1: Furious in the twenties and you guys are gonna be
- 24:45Speaker 1: racing fucking buggies and like, yeah, I just feel like, yo, motherfucker's.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Been to space.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Yeh, that's what I'm saying.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I'm waiting for, like like a Michael Myers Jason Voorh
- 24:53Speaker 1: He's like introduction it, like yo, look in the next
- 24:57Speaker 1: Fast and furious. We're merging a bunch of different univers.
- 25:00Speaker 2: And all of that is like the original cast, or
- 25:02Speaker 2: can I say the cast over these last ten we've
- 25:05Speaker 2: had a hell of a run. For sure. I feel
- 25:07Speaker 2: like they'll bring it back and it'll probably be a new,
- 25:09Speaker 2: younger cast at some.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Point, almost like I reset the whole ship.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I think they're going to reset it.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I think I think too fast my favorite one, really,
- 25:16Speaker 1: I stopped watching listen five. I gotta be honest with you.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Five is the last one I've.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Watched five and five is not your favorite, the one
- 25:21Speaker 2: with the rock in something.
- 25:23Speaker 1: About the Tyres introduction. I just liked it. I don't know,
- 25:27Speaker 1: I just it still felt realistic.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I love that you say that. I mean, I'm in
- 25:30Speaker 2: that one. So as long as you didn't pick one
- 25:32Speaker 2: that I wasn't in, I'm cool. Get too fast.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I just feel like after five, I was like, I
- 25:36Speaker 1: don't know, I don't know what's.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Going on here anymore. There you go see.
- 25:39Speaker 1: And then I saw a clip it was like, there's
- 25:42Speaker 1: like some shit y'all did in space. I saw on
- 25:44Speaker 1: Twitter and I was just like, what.
- 25:46Speaker 2: We went into space? Man, I've been there. I've been
- 25:49Speaker 2: in space and back. What can I say?
- 25:51Speaker 1: What do you think is your most slept On album?
- 25:55Speaker 2: Slept On released not released Therapy. My last album, which
- 25:59Speaker 2: was Ship was the Day Universal. I think Louli versas
- 26:05Speaker 2: slept On. I think Theater of the Mind.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I feel like you was going.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Crazy on that Theater of the Mind one I won
- 26:14Speaker 2: Grammy for that was released there.
- 26:15Speaker 1: That was the ship that had to do it for
- 26:17Speaker 1: hip hop.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I'll give you that. I'll give you that. I'm with
- 26:19Speaker 2: you on that. I would say, Floyd there, Yeah.
- 26:24Speaker 3: I like that.
- 26:24Speaker 2: I like rock skit. It's between Theater of the Mind
- 26:28Speaker 2: and and Louli versal for sure.
- 26:30Speaker 1: When you do the record, I do it for hip
- 26:32Speaker 1: hop and Nas and jay Z, Like, do you know
- 26:34Speaker 1: Nas and jay Z are getting on the song?
- 26:35Speaker 2: Absolutely because I got Nas on there first and jay
- 26:38Speaker 2: Z was the president of Death Jam at the time,
- 26:40Speaker 2: and I asked to get on there and he was like,
- 26:42Speaker 2: he kept it for a little while, he didn't say
- 26:43Speaker 2: yes right away, and then he just sent me to verse.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I was like, I got one, were you like?
- 26:48Speaker 3: I couldn't believe it for that time.
- 26:50Speaker 1: And yo crazy, that's like I think that's only the
- 26:54Speaker 1: second time they because I think did the Black Republican
- 26:57Speaker 1: record on.
- 26:57Speaker 2: The NAS album absolutely and it was a DJ Premier beat,
- 27:00Speaker 2: So I kind of knew it's hard for them to
- 27:02Speaker 2: turn down the DJ Premiere, but they both work with
- 27:05Speaker 2: Premiere numerous times. What better way to get NAS and
- 27:08Speaker 2: jay Z on a song than to get the DJ
- 27:09Speaker 2: Premiere to produce it.
- 27:11Speaker 1: You have been known to hop on other people's songs
- 27:13Speaker 1: and steal the show. What is the time someone's hopped
- 27:15Speaker 1: on one of your records where you feel like they
- 27:17Speaker 1: got the better of you?
- 27:18Speaker 2: Man? I always tell people this, man Shauna as an artist, like,
- 27:21Speaker 2: I always had to watch myself, Like I knew she
- 27:24Speaker 2: was gonna get on the records, like spitting fast and
- 27:26Speaker 2: like and having lyrics and annunciation. I always was like,
- 27:31Speaker 2: I gotta watch Shawna. So I feel like I can't.
- 27:33Speaker 3: I don't.
- 27:34Speaker 2: I got to think of a specific record, but Shawna
- 27:36Speaker 2: just femail wise one of the.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I always say she's one of those left on rappers
- 27:41Speaker 1: ever crazy.
- 27:41Speaker 3: But I got to think about it.
- 27:42Speaker 2: I got to think about when somebody came on my
- 27:44Speaker 2: record and absolutely annihilated it or annihilated me. I feel
- 27:48Speaker 2: like it's arguable if somebody, I feel like it. I
- 27:49Speaker 2: feel like you've done that a lot were you like
- 27:51Speaker 2: you steal the show. I appreciate that for sure.
- 27:54Speaker 1: When you end up on this Justin Bieber baby song,
- 27:57Speaker 1: obviously Justin Bieber hughes at the time, but he's not,
- 28:00Speaker 1: but like well like on you like there was like
- 28:03Speaker 1: a buzz on YouTube like street folks like, but this
- 28:06Speaker 1: is the song that like breaks him for show like
- 28:09Speaker 1: baby is the first joint. Yeah, And you're like, like,
- 28:12Speaker 1: how does that because because at that time, you're kind
- 28:14Speaker 1: of you're you're kind of in the Hollywood space a
- 28:17Speaker 1: little like.
- 28:18Speaker 2: A little bit, but still you still have people wondering
- 28:20Speaker 2: why I would do a song with like a thirteen
- 28:23Speaker 2: year old kid, right, So, you know, I got a
- 28:25Speaker 2: lot of backlash. And it's funny because right after I
- 28:28Speaker 2: didn't embrace them, the entire hip hop community has embraced
- 28:32Speaker 2: Justin Bieber and the then you know, next thing, you know,
- 28:34Speaker 2: he continues to ascend and he's he has this community
- 28:38Speaker 2: and has this community, and he all of.
- 28:40Speaker 3: A sudden has everyone.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Yeah. So I was like, I never went off of
- 28:44Speaker 2: someone's age or you know, like someone's race. I always
- 28:48Speaker 2: go off of when I listen to the song if
- 28:50Speaker 2: I feel it in my heart. And now when I
- 28:52Speaker 2: listen to that song, I knew it was a hit record.
- 28:54Speaker 2: And I just stepped on there and just talked from
- 28:57Speaker 2: my point of view of when I was that age
- 28:59Speaker 2: and next thing, you know, the rest is history.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Do you feel like that, like like I feel like
- 29:03Speaker 1: when you get on certain like records in of that
- 29:05Speaker 1: big do you feel the difference, like, oh, ship, there's
- 29:07Speaker 1: a lot more little kids who like.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Oh my god, bro, Like, I got two names in
- 29:11Speaker 2: these streets. I'm Ludacris and that's the that's the dude
- 29:13Speaker 2: that's on the song with Justin Bieber. Right. I mean
- 29:17Speaker 2: that to say that there's a whole other generation of
- 29:20Speaker 2: kids that know me from being on that song. Some
- 29:22Speaker 2: people will be like, Yo, that's Test from Fast and Furious.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Oh that's Ludacris. Oh that's a that's that's that's lude
- 29:27Speaker 2: he was on Justin Bieber's song.
- 29:29Speaker 3: That's how huge that damn song was.
- 29:31Speaker 1: You've done conceptual albums throughout your career, obviously Battle the
- 29:36Speaker 1: Sexes we talked about Theater.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Of the Mind.
- 29:39Speaker 3: The first time I met but let kV.
- 29:42Speaker 2: He was in Phoenix, he was like, I just want
- 29:44Speaker 2: to start off and say I don't like your oving
- 29:46Speaker 2: battle of the sexist. I was like, okay, but I'm
- 29:49Speaker 2: a fan. Did I say that, No, it's something to
- 29:52Speaker 2: that effect.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I met you in Vegas first of one of these.
- 29:57Speaker 3: I think we was in. I think we was in. Yeah,
- 29:59Speaker 3: maybe it was.
- 30:00Speaker 2: I didn't love it.
- 30:01Speaker 1: I love I mean, look, look my chicad was cool.
- 30:02Speaker 2: I said it to tell you that I appreciated your honesty.
- 30:05Speaker 2: I still got a gold plaque from this damn album.
- 30:07Speaker 2: I didn't feel a certain way about it. You got
- 30:09Speaker 2: a big record.
- 30:09Speaker 3: I'm not mad at you, bro. Sometimes you got to
- 30:11Speaker 3: speak your mind.
- 30:12Speaker 2: You know how many radio individuals are scared to speak
- 30:14Speaker 2: they mind.
- 30:15Speaker 3: You gave your opinion. Yeah, everyone has an opinion.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I remember the first time, the first time I met Common,
- 30:20Speaker 1: I told comm and I'm like, yo, you got my
- 30:22Speaker 1: six favorite album of all time?
- 30:24Speaker 3: What did he say?
- 30:25Speaker 1: And he was like six And I was like, yeah, yeah, Resurrection,
- 30:29Speaker 1: it's like six seven for me up by the way,
- 30:31Speaker 1: before the six he just looked at me like I
- 30:33Speaker 1: was crazy.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Like yeah, thanks, yeah, yeah, that's Bootleg Cat, this is
- 30:37Speaker 2: Bootleg cab Ladies and gentlemen. That's how he gets down.
- 30:40Speaker 1: What is the vibe for this new project, because it
- 30:43Speaker 1: feels like you are like very much dialed in the
- 30:46Speaker 1: new Glorilla records dropping Friday.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Hell yeah, he had the luxury of listening to these
- 30:50Speaker 2: records early. But man, just that hunger back. Wait till
- 30:54Speaker 2: you hear some of these these sixteens and these metaphors
- 30:57Speaker 2: and the things that people really want from me, rapping fast,
- 31:01Speaker 2: rapping slow, the versatility. I feel like when it all
- 31:05Speaker 2: goes down, I want to be remembered as the one
- 31:06Speaker 2: of the ones that had the multi faceted it approach,
- 31:10Speaker 2: like I could do anything. MVP that was another record
- 31:13Speaker 2: I did. Most Valuable Player means when you talk about
- 31:15Speaker 2: hit records, you want to talk about verses, You want
- 31:18Speaker 2: to talk about lyrics, you want to talk about features,
- 31:20Speaker 2: you want to talk about.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Anything hip hop.
- 31:23Speaker 2: When you put all of those things together, the summation
- 31:26Speaker 2: of all Ludacris, all categories, that's what this is. Yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Do you feel like because I feel like you're one
- 31:33Speaker 1: of the greats of all time?
- 31:35Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 31:36Speaker 1: But do you feel like because you're ludicrous and you
- 31:40Speaker 1: are you have so much personality? I feel like it
- 31:42Speaker 1: happens sometimes with Buster and Rymes. Buster and Rhymes is
- 31:44Speaker 1: one of the greatest of all time. Yeah, but I
- 31:46Speaker 1: feel like sometimes when you have so much personality on records,
- 31:49Speaker 1: like I feel like you overlook you get overlooked in
- 31:53Speaker 1: those conversations.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Thousand percent, and it's like kind of an underdog. But
- 31:57Speaker 2: I'm gonna be honest with you, man, I wouldn't have
- 31:59Speaker 2: any the other way, because that's also what makes me
- 32:02Speaker 2: unique and makes me stand out, is having that type
- 32:05Speaker 2: of personality. And it always has me keeping that I
- 32:08Speaker 2: have something to prove, and I like the essence of
- 32:11Speaker 2: always having something to prove. I'm not gonna lie to you.
- 32:14Speaker 2: That's what keeps me going. So that competitive nature is
- 32:17Speaker 2: I love it. I love it, and like I feel
- 32:20Speaker 2: like it's just you've had this run as like as
- 32:24Speaker 2: a person.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Like you, I don't know how I feel like. You've
- 32:26Speaker 1: hosted iHeart Awards and you've been at the iHeart Words
- 32:28Speaker 1: two years straight doing some shit.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Man.
- 32:29Speaker 3: I love it.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Bro Like that's what I'm saying. I'm so curious of
- 32:32Speaker 2: a person. I just love trying different things. And when
- 32:35Speaker 2: I was in radio, that's what might have even gave
- 32:37Speaker 2: me the bug to say, let me try and go
- 32:39Speaker 2: host this, or let me go try and be on
- 32:41Speaker 2: this show, or let me do this because the opportunity
- 32:44Speaker 2: presents itself. I'm gonna make sure everybody knows that I'm
- 32:47Speaker 2: capable of doing it all when it comes to this
- 32:50Speaker 2: entertainment business. And I'm just curious.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Shout out to Raffi Lag Group our family. Yes, it's
- 32:55Speaker 1: been so dope to partner with, you know, such a
- 32:58Speaker 1: name and brand and somebody who I am. Actually I'm
- 33:00Speaker 1: a customer of. Shot out to Raffi Law Group, man
- 33:03Speaker 1: Arizona's premier personal injury law firm. And I don't just
- 33:07Speaker 1: put my name on anybody. When we do this stuff
- 33:10Speaker 1: on the Bootleg cap podcast and you see us partnering
- 33:12Speaker 1: with brands, We're very selective about who we connect with.
- 33:16Speaker 1: And Raffi is someone who's actually helped my family, helped
- 33:19Speaker 1: my wife get a settlement all right, has helped over
- 33:22Speaker 1: seventy thousand people in Arizona. No matter what happens, man,
- 33:27Speaker 1: car accident, crash, injury, you maybe get bit by a dog,
- 33:30Speaker 1: I don't know, whatever it is, Raffi Law Group makes
- 33:34Speaker 1: the process less stressful. They put money in your pocket.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Yes the name you can trust. You already know, man,
- 33:40Speaker 1: Raffi Law Group. Save the number just in case, because hey,
- 33:43Speaker 1: you get into a car accident tomorrow, you gotta call
- 33:46Speaker 1: Raffi six two three three eight eight four three three
- 33:50Speaker 1: three And want to wish a big happy birthday to
- 33:52Speaker 1: Raffi's just celebrated his fortieth birthday. We had a good
- 33:55Speaker 1: time in Vegas. Fifty cent was there, pauly d was there,
- 33:58Speaker 1: mad Rich was there. E c Rock was there. It
- 34:02Speaker 1: was a movie, all right, Secretary of State was there.
- 34:04Speaker 1: We were just hanging out, man show.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Look.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Shout out to Brandon Raffi. Don't forget Raffi Law Group.
- 34:09Speaker 1: The only calling you to make if you're an AZ
- 34:11Speaker 1: and you get into an accident, or you get into
- 34:13Speaker 1: any sort of injury situation, they'll take care you immediately
- 34:17Speaker 1: call Raffi.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Baby. Let's get back to the podcast.
- 34:20Speaker 1: So Yo, I remember the first movie that I saw
- 34:22Speaker 1: you in was Crash, which is a fucking crazy movie.
- 34:26Speaker 2: They won an Oscar Man Wild Movies.
- 34:28Speaker 1: That was that your first first movie?
- 34:30Speaker 2: Or was it Too Fast?
- 34:31Speaker 3: Was the first movie? I was in the wash before that?
- 34:33Speaker 2: Shout out to DJ Pooh Wash, Yeah, I made an
- 34:35Speaker 2: appearance a great yeah with doctor Dre Shout So then
- 34:40Speaker 2: Too Fast, Too Perious, and then Crash was the was
- 34:42Speaker 2: the third one, and everybody did that movie. You see
- 34:44Speaker 2: all those A list actors, We all took like less
- 34:47Speaker 2: pay because it was an independent album. The cast was
- 34:50Speaker 2: insane and there was no budget for the movie, so
- 34:52Speaker 2: everybody agreed to take money on the back end and
- 34:55Speaker 2: it ended up winning an Oscar. So everybody made the
- 34:57Speaker 2: right decision. And that's where I met Lorenz Tate, that's
- 34:59Speaker 2: one of my best friends. Crazy.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Yeah, do you feel like do you feel like that?
- 35:03Speaker 1: That was like the movie that kind of like really
- 35:06Speaker 1: because that's a serious movie. That's like that's when I
- 35:08Speaker 1: think Motherfuckers was like, Yo, Ludacris could act.
- 35:11Speaker 2: That's what. That's literally what made me kind of cross
- 35:13Speaker 2: over because at that time, if you will remember, it
- 35:16Speaker 2: was a lot of actors pissed that anybody in the
- 35:18Speaker 2: music industry or rappers got an opportunity just because they
- 35:22Speaker 2: were rappers to get a roll. So we were beating
- 35:24Speaker 2: out a lot of actors that have done this for
- 35:27Speaker 2: all their lives and getting rolls. And so when I
- 35:29Speaker 2: did Crash, it was like Okay, I'm accepted into this
- 35:32Speaker 2: acting community. They're not mad that I just was a
- 35:34Speaker 2: rapper that got an opportunity.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I always wonder because you're one of the guys we
- 35:38Speaker 1: always hear we're in La. You know, there's all this
- 35:42Speaker 1: conversation about like when La hip hop ran shit, which
- 35:47Speaker 1: was the nineties with Snoop and Dre and Tupac, and
- 35:49Speaker 1: then you know, obviously the East Coast had it before then,
- 35:51Speaker 1: but there's this like Atlanta run that has been happening
- 35:55Speaker 1: for the last twenty five years.
- 35:56Speaker 3: It hasn't stopped.
- 35:57Speaker 1: It hasn't stopped. But you're kind of like you're like
- 36:01Speaker 1: the first in the first.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Batch outcast man.
- 36:03Speaker 1: No, no, I'm talking about outcast was like outcast was
- 36:06Speaker 1: a thing obviously.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:07Speaker 3: Yeah, well solo artists absolutely, But I mean just.
- 36:10Speaker 1: In terms of like I think of like you guys
- 36:13Speaker 1: running ship kind of sonically, it was like kind of
- 36:16Speaker 1: the beginning was like welcome to Atlanta, and then that
- 36:19Speaker 1: moved into like Little John and the crunk era, and
- 36:22Speaker 1: then the ship just hasn't stopped obviously the future.
- 36:24Speaker 2: But like you, honestly just you just messed me up
- 36:27Speaker 2: right there because I'm so humble. I try not to
- 36:30Speaker 2: take credit before me. You had Outcasts, you had Goodie Mob,
- 36:33Speaker 2: you had Parento with Yeah, I mean I got a
- 36:35Speaker 2: Quimini right there.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I mean, that's my my third favorite album of all
- 36:38Speaker 1: time in terms.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Of solo artist.
- 36:40Speaker 2: After Outcasts, it wasn't many solo artists like what I'm saying,
- 36:44Speaker 2: man were making waves. Man, thank you for making me
- 36:47Speaker 2: realize this.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Yo, I appreciate. I know I came here for.
- 36:50Speaker 1: When you're started with. Like I mean, obviously shots are
- 36:53Speaker 1: Socio Deaf and JD, but.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Absolutely Man, he had Chris Kross and he had other artists,
- 36:58Speaker 2: but yeah, solo, I had.
- 37:00Speaker 1: To think, like you kicked off. The twenty five year run.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Of anything has come from this interview.
- 37:06Speaker 1: We have just two thousand, right to two thousand's your first.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Album thousand, nineteen ninety nine to be complete that that
- 37:12Speaker 2: was incog Negro back for the first time was two thousand.
- 37:15Speaker 3: So if you think about it.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Bootleg keV has just made a revelation.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Wow, when you get the idea from JD to do
- 37:25Speaker 1: Welcome to Atlanta.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Yeah, you know we basically strong arm that record and
- 37:30Speaker 2: said we're gonna put this on my word of Mouth
- 37:32Speaker 2: album at the end, Yeah, exactly because it was hidden track, right,
- 37:35Speaker 2: And so now this is the anthem for all things Atlanta,
- 37:39Speaker 2: which we greatly appreciate. There are a bunch of other
- 37:41Speaker 2: Atlanta anthems, but this is one of them. World Cup
- 37:44Speaker 2: coming obviously, we're gonna be a part of all of that.
- 37:46Speaker 2: So yeah, man, I just thank JD for that.
- 37:49Speaker 3: He was on one.
- 37:50Speaker 1: You you're obviously the guy who kind of kicks the door,
- 37:53Speaker 1: and I feel like for like this new wave of
- 37:55Speaker 1: Atlanta artists. And then it kind of pivots into like
- 37:57Speaker 1: the Trap era, which is like obviously Tip and Gez
- 38:01Speaker 1: and all that was what was it like kind of
- 38:04Speaker 1: coexisting in the city where there's like this BM but
- 38:06Speaker 1: you're like, Luda, I feel like I always got positive
- 38:08Speaker 1: vibes from you.
- 38:09Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Let me tell you something. I never have negative vibes.
- 38:12Speaker 2: It's always somebody messing with me. Then I have to
- 38:15Speaker 2: respond it's I'm never but I am toy jealous of anyone,
- 38:19Speaker 2: never in my entire career.
- 38:21Speaker 1: You're like this crazy force of like just superstardom. And
- 38:24Speaker 1: then at the same time, there's like kind of this
- 38:26Speaker 1: underground movement of like the Boys in the Hood album
- 38:29Speaker 1: comes out by the way, I was on bad Boy,
- 38:31Speaker 1: but Jeeze's your label mate on Death Jim, what's it
- 38:35Speaker 1: like that era being ludicris while the trap shit's bubbling?
- 38:38Speaker 2: I mean the same time. Tell you something I've said
- 38:40Speaker 2: this before, like, uh, team one on one, like j
- 38:43Speaker 2: Z's first album. I know he had a bunch of mixtapes,
- 38:46Speaker 2: but I was such a fan. Yeah, so I'm I'm
- 38:49Speaker 2: loving it. To answer your question, I'm loving it. I was.
- 38:53Speaker 3: I'm a JEZ fan.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Yeah, can you tell me.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Thug Motivation one on one? It's a classic album to me.
- 38:58Speaker 1: I'm just saying it's de only one of the greatest
- 39:01Speaker 1: greatest albums the show.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Shout out to Geez.
- 39:04Speaker 1: You guys never kicked the can around about doing just
- 39:06Speaker 1: like a fucking Transformers Voltron version of like a OG
- 39:09Speaker 1: like like you g Z T I just get together,
- 39:12Speaker 1: have JD's executive produce it.
- 39:15Speaker 2: I know, I know there's been conversations like but nothing
- 39:18Speaker 2: has ever come to fruition. I even remember I know
- 39:21Speaker 2: GZ and TI I think they were talking about doing
- 39:24Speaker 2: something together before. There's been conversations of you know, intot
- 39:29Speaker 2: like It's been a lot of that. It's just nothing's
- 39:31Speaker 2: ever come to fruition. Yeah, that'd be crazy. It would
- 39:34Speaker 2: be me Usher and Lil John and talking about trying
- 39:37Speaker 2: to make something happen. That'd be crazy.
- 39:39Speaker 3: John and Luda got to do it again.
- 39:40Speaker 2: You guys got Lovers and Friends?
- 39:42Speaker 3: Man, come on, man, yeah, classics?
- 39:44Speaker 2: Did you guys?
- 39:45Speaker 1: Did you guys ever start?
- 39:46Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah?
- 39:46Speaker 1: You going yeah?
- 39:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Yes, that's what I'm saying. These are too and
- 39:49Speaker 2: Lovers and Friends. There was never a video to that.
- 39:51Speaker 2: It still went number one. We never saw a video.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Yes, probably, I mean I feel like, yeah, at a
- 39:54Speaker 1: certain point in time, was the biggest song ever.
- 39:56Speaker 2: It's like number seventeen, biggest song of the century. That's
- 39:59Speaker 2: how that song and Jesus Christ crazy on Billboard. What
- 40:03Speaker 2: do you think is bigger that? Or Baby? That's actually
- 40:06Speaker 2: a good ask question. Baby is bigger on YouTube for sure.
- 40:10Speaker 2: I think it has over a billion views or something
- 40:12Speaker 2: like that. Matter of fact, Baby is diamond is yeah, diamond,
- 40:15Speaker 2: that's a good question. Better be fucking diamond. That's a
- 40:18Speaker 2: good question. Bro. Those them things are neck and neck.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Talk about publishing Jesus.
- 40:24Speaker 1: And then like radio play, I know for a while,
- 40:27Speaker 1: there hadn't been another song that got played more on
- 40:28Speaker 1: the radio than Yeah, there was like held the record
- 40:31Speaker 1: for a sec.
- 40:31Speaker 2: I don't know what it is now, but that song is. Yeah,
- 40:34Speaker 2: that's what I'm saying. That's why, that's why it's one
- 40:36Speaker 2: of them century songs. That's a century song. How often
- 40:39Speaker 2: do you get those? Not often? Yeah? No, Yeah. So
- 40:42Speaker 2: it's like when I do shows now, you gotta think
- 40:44Speaker 2: it's people that have been in the game for twenty
- 40:47Speaker 2: five years with me. But then you got people that
- 40:50Speaker 2: might not have been born when the first album came out,
- 40:52Speaker 2: and I'll do baby, and then a whole nother section
- 40:54Speaker 2: of the crowd is going crazy. Dude, you do have
- 40:57Speaker 2: all time Caucasian rap.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Songs, generation generational songs.
- 41:02Speaker 1: I mean, we're talking about bar Mitzvah's fucking weddings, birthday parties, corporative. Yeah,
- 41:08Speaker 1: move bitch, something about this like move bitches, like a
- 41:11Speaker 1: It's forever.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Live shows is listen.
- 41:14Speaker 2: I will never stop doing live So it's like one
- 41:15Speaker 2: of the greatest It's the greatest thing of being an
- 41:19Speaker 2: artist in my opinion. Like, I love performing. Somebody paid
- 41:23Speaker 2: money to come see me. I'm giving you everything I
- 41:25Speaker 2: got on that stage. Man, how everything?
- 41:27Speaker 1: How cool is it to have a roller coaster at Universal?
- 41:29Speaker 2: Now? It's dope.
- 41:30Speaker 3: It's supposed to open in a couple of weeks.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Right, because you guys have the like the other version
- 41:34Speaker 1: where you like go through and you sit in the
- 41:36Speaker 1: car and then you guys are on each side.
- 41:37Speaker 2: But that was got the real joint. That wasn't as exciting.
- 41:39Speaker 2: It's right here is gonna be exciting?
- 41:41Speaker 1: Are you gonna pull up?
- 41:42Speaker 2: And I got to the only problem is every time
- 41:44Speaker 2: I get on a roller coaster nowadays, I get a headache.
- 41:46Speaker 3: So I don't know what that's about. My equilibrium is off.
- 41:49Speaker 2: You're just old man. I get to say, that's what
- 41:50Speaker 2: it is.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, thousand percent.
- 41:52Speaker 2: But I gotta do this one fast and furious ride
- 41:55Speaker 2: Universal Studios, Ladies and gentlemen, it's what he's talking about. Yeah, No,
- 41:59Speaker 2: they've been building. It looks crazy. I mean I think
- 42:00Speaker 2: it's finished.
- 42:01Speaker 3: He has done it. That's what I said. In two weeks,
- 42:03Speaker 3: I believe they gonna debut that thing.
- 42:06Speaker 2: What is uh?
- 42:07Speaker 1: You know, when when can we expect this new album?
- 42:09Speaker 3: New album before the end of the year?
- 42:11Speaker 2: Yeah, hell yeah? Dropping singles we just we like to
- 42:15Speaker 2: call it getting back in the blood stream. It's been
- 42:17Speaker 2: a minute, so we we out here getting back in
- 42:18Speaker 2: the blacks stream. We heating up.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Is there anybody who you'd like to work with on
- 42:22Speaker 1: this new album or just some newer artists that you
- 42:24Speaker 1: are fans of? Obviously you're working with Glow on the
- 42:26Speaker 1: new single, but yeah, there are artists that you just
- 42:28Speaker 1: are just taking notes of, Like I like what this
- 42:30Speaker 1: person's doing.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Yeah, man, let me think about that. Who do I
- 42:34Speaker 2: love right now? Definitely love it. I mean I work
- 42:36Speaker 2: with Chris Brown before, but would love to work with
- 42:38Speaker 2: him again. I love what he's doing in the touring space. Man,
- 42:42Speaker 2: every every time he goes, it's just something totally crazy.
- 42:46Speaker 2: But like Don Tolliver, love Don Tolliver in Atlanta, I've
- 42:52Speaker 2: worked with. I've done a song with Future for him,
- 42:55Speaker 2: but I've never had Future on one of my songs
- 42:56Speaker 2: that would be dope. So yeah, just to name a few.
- 43:00Speaker 1: It on a like a Conway the Machine record, like
- 43:02Speaker 1: scatter Brand.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you guys might have did that on TV.
- 43:08Speaker 1: I think he did it on He did it on
- 43:10Speaker 1: one of the late night shows. I don't know if
- 43:11Speaker 1: you were there for it. But what what like that's
- 43:14Speaker 1: some underground boom back rap ship. What like what brings
- 43:17Speaker 1: Conway to the machine, to.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Your radar to do a record with?
- 43:19Speaker 3: He hit me up. He hit me on it. Man.
- 43:21Speaker 2: When I had a show one time in Buffalo, New York,
- 43:23Speaker 2: and I got to meet him and he was saying
- 43:25Speaker 2: how much of a fan he was, and I was like,
- 43:27Speaker 2: bro let's work. And he sent me that record and
- 43:29Speaker 2: the rest is history. And j I d Is another
- 43:32Speaker 2: one that I love. I've worked with him before too.
- 43:34Speaker 3: I love.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Oh That's dope, extra dope. Yeah, yeah, I love he
- 43:40Speaker 2: was styling on records he's called and he deserved that nomination.
- 43:45Speaker 3: You know, I wish you would have actually for the Grammy.
- 43:47Speaker 2: He deserved that. Man.
- 43:48Speaker 3: That album is insane. You're gonna make me go listen
- 43:50Speaker 3: to that when I leave you.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Great album, man.
- 43:51Speaker 3: Great album.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Is DTP still, like are you still trying to sign
- 43:55Speaker 1: artists or is it? Are you guys kind of just
- 43:57Speaker 1: is are you the loan artist on DTP?
- 43:59Speaker 3: Now we still have artists?
- 44:01Speaker 2: Something that would be like we'll be announcing some stuff
- 44:03Speaker 2: soon and we're still working. Man, It's like we got
- 44:06Speaker 2: I got songs with Seanna and Chingey. We're gonna start
- 44:08Speaker 2: breaking some things out. So again, it's just bringing everything
- 44:11Speaker 2: full circle.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Yeah, Chinky's been on the road's been moving around absolutely.
- 44:16Speaker 1: One night, I just I was at eleven and eleven
- 44:17Speaker 1: we booked Nelly, Chiney was hanging out.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, yo, you doing records.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Saint Louis. They love man, they got love for one
- 44:23Speaker 2: another at the end of the day. Yeah, it's all sure.
- 44:26Speaker 2: There might be a new Chiney album coming on.
- 44:29Speaker 3: Cheeky's working on his album.
- 44:30Speaker 2: He's not currently signed to DTP, but right now we're
- 44:33Speaker 2: working on songs together.

- 44:52Speaker 3: For this coming.
- 44:53Speaker 2: We well, we'll let you know that it's in a second.
- 44:56Speaker 2: We might have even more records dropping.

- 45:04Speaker 2: Universal has it on their calendar. We got to be
- 45:06Speaker 2: shooting by top of next year. Oh so yeah, yeah,
- 45:08Speaker 2: so we shall see and do we think?
- 45:11Speaker 1: Like, is everyone coming back together?

- 45:15Speaker 2: I wish I could tell you. I don't want to
- 45:17Speaker 2: tell you nothing wrong. I don't want to give you
- 45:18Speaker 2: false information.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Is Vin Diesel as cool as he seems?
- 45:21Speaker 2: Too cool?
- 45:22Speaker 3: The coolest?
- 45:22Speaker 1: I met him at a Super Bowl party I was
- 45:24Speaker 1: DJ and at and like fuck, I don't even remember
- 45:26Speaker 1: what year was, but he was so cool.
- 45:27Speaker 3: Too cool. And by the way, in his off time
- 45:30Speaker 3: he'd be in the studio.
- 45:31Speaker 2: This man probably got over one hundred songs and nobody
- 45:33Speaker 2: he sings, He raps, he does it all. Please convince
- 45:36Speaker 2: him to put it out.
- 45:37Speaker 3: He has put some out.
- 45:38Speaker 2: But what I mean by that is he's a true artist,
- 45:41Speaker 2: right Like he's behind the scenes making sure scripts and
- 45:44Speaker 2: stuff are right, getting his act and stuff right. And
- 45:47Speaker 2: just like when he's his mind constantly has to do art.
- 45:51Speaker 2: He's drawing, he's painting, like he is an artist.

- 46:11Speaker 3: That movie is the best.
- 46:12Speaker 1: When like those two guys have like a civil war
- 46:15Speaker 1: going on behind the scenes.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Do you feel conflicted because you're cool with both of them,

- 46:46Speaker 2: one of my partners, his son would come and do
- 46:48Speaker 2: what he's doing right now, because I remember when he
- 46:51Speaker 2: was a young kid, and so I just love to
- 46:53Speaker 2: see that maturation.
