- 0:24Speaker 1: First of all, nice, yeah, nice to finally get up
- 0:26Speaker 1: with you. Man. I was telling you we met real
- 0:28Speaker 1: quick at the BT Media House this weekend.
- 0:31Speaker 2: But I'm gonna give your flowers because the No Jumper
- 0:34Speaker 2: interview that you had did with Adam like a long
- 0:36Speaker 2: time ago, well it.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Was like a year ago, year and a half, like
- 0:38Speaker 1: a year and a half ago.
- 0:40Speaker 2: I really like watched and dissected that interview so much
- 0:42Speaker 2: because a lot of the stuff that you were going
- 0:44Speaker 2: through with this podcast is like I felt like I
- 0:46Speaker 2: was also going through at the Toms with On the Radar,
- 0:49Speaker 2: you know, being affiliated with a radio station, but your
- 0:51Speaker 2: podcast not entirely being affiliated with the station, and you know,
- 0:55Speaker 2: just having that like synergy and and a lot of
- 0:57Speaker 2: the things you said and that like kind of really
- 0:59Speaker 2: help me and kind of like my thought process of like, Okay,
- 1:02Speaker 2: this is how I should move with on the radar
- 1:05Speaker 2: going forward to So I want to thank you for that.
- 1:07Speaker 3: All good man. So for people who don't know, so
- 1:09Speaker 3: your roots are in radio, Yes, my rooturn radio.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I started off at a Saint John's in Queens with
- 1:16Speaker 2: along with Nyla who's also on Power. Angie Martinez came
- 1:20Speaker 2: to the radio station for her book tour. Me and
- 1:22Speaker 2: her both interviewed her and then the rest is like
- 1:24Speaker 2: pretty much history, and he picked it.
- 1:26Speaker 3: I took a liking to you guys, yeah, yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 2: And you took a liking to us. She literally just
- 1:30Speaker 2: picked us up out of the radio station and and
- 1:33Speaker 2: then brought us to Power Ont five. And then I
- 1:35Speaker 2: was an intern at Power Wintal five for the rest
- 1:38Speaker 2: of my college career until like pretty much right before
- 1:40Speaker 2: I graduated, and then I took a full time position
- 1:43Speaker 2: as like the I ran all their social media. So
- 1:45Speaker 2: I took a full time position before I graduated to
- 1:47Speaker 2: stay in the building. She was a social guy. I
- 1:49Speaker 2: was association. Yeah, I was a social guy at the
- 1:52Speaker 2: station before anything. So I rand the social media up
- 1:54Speaker 2: until last August when I when I left, because you know,
- 1:57Speaker 2: she was doing everything was going on, was doing.
- 1:59Speaker 3: And then you were doing weren't you doing like a
- 2:02Speaker 3: something with Charlamagne at Marvel? Yeah podcast. Yeah, we had
- 2:06Speaker 3: a few episodes. You guys didn't do too many episodes.
- 2:08Speaker 1: We did like seventeen. We like we did like yeah,
- 2:11Speaker 1: we did like seventeen.
- 2:12Speaker 2: It was called Comic Kings, and it was just cause
- 2:13Speaker 2: that like had spawned out of when I was an intern.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Charlamage and I would just talk about like the different
- 2:18Speaker 2: comic book movies that we were watching. So like I
- 2:21Speaker 2: think I remember like one conversation me and him had
- 2:22Speaker 2: it was like Logan had came out, and uh, we
- 2:25Speaker 2: were just having a debate about the movie. And then
- 2:27Speaker 2: somebody at the say she's like, y'all should do a
- 2:28Speaker 2: podcast together. So, like, you know, on my time off
- 2:31Speaker 2: and his time off, you know, after Breakfast Club, we
- 2:33Speaker 2: would just shoot it. And then the pandemic came and
- 2:35Speaker 2: then he got a show and then everything just kind
- 2:37Speaker 2: of got super busy. But honestly, like that was such
- 2:39Speaker 2: a great opportunity. And when we still see each other,
- 2:42Speaker 2: like we talk about like the nerd ship, like we
- 2:44Speaker 2: love that.
- 2:45Speaker 3: What did you think of Flash? I didn't get to
- 2:46Speaker 3: see it yet.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Because I I've been on we you know, we've been
- 2:48Speaker 1: on the on the Radar tour.
- 2:49Speaker 3: It's like super mid Yeah, I keep hearing. I'm like,
- 2:52Speaker 3: how Michael Keatons did it? What's what? How they fucked
- 2:55Speaker 3: that up?
- 2:56Speaker 2: Like like how do you bring back like everybody, well
- 2:59Speaker 2: most people favorite Batman, right, and then you include Supergirl
- 3:03Speaker 2: and then somehow you still mess it up like this.
- 3:06Speaker 3: This guy who plays Flash did so many so much
- 3:09Speaker 3: wow ship, and they kept him in the movie. So
- 3:12Speaker 3: I'm like they had to have kept him in there
- 3:14Speaker 3: because it has to be Fire. I was thinking they
- 3:15Speaker 3: will scrap it after this guy was like breaking into
- 3:17Speaker 3: people's houses and falling asleep on the couch and doing
- 3:20Speaker 3: all kinds of weird ship the actor or like like
- 3:22Speaker 3: fighting people and whole guy fucking wild guy for sure.
- 3:24Speaker 2: You ever seen the video of him in Hawaii where
- 3:26Speaker 2: it's like you know what want to talk about?
- 3:27Speaker 3: Was like his face is a great I think he's uh.
- 3:30Speaker 3: They slashed them.
- 3:31Speaker 2: They yeah, they they sorry gotta beat my apologically correct.
- 3:34Speaker 3: I'd be correct.
- 3:34Speaker 2: But when they had when their uh, their mugshot was
- 3:39Speaker 2: on the TV. Yes, and then it pans over and
- 3:41Speaker 2: he's just like sipping a drink in like a nice
- 3:44Speaker 2: in like a nice suit, talking to three older women.
- 3:47Speaker 1: It's just like wild Boy Man wold Boy.
- 3:49Speaker 2: But yeah, I didn't get to see it. I'm gonna
- 3:51Speaker 2: watch it, uh when I go back to New York.
- 3:53Speaker 2: But I did see Spider Verse, and Spider Verse was phenomenal, amazing.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Do you think do you think the Spider Verse two
- 3:57Speaker 3: movies are better because there's a lot of people saying
- 4:01Speaker 3: that they're the best Spider Man's period. Yeah, I think so.
- 4:03Speaker 3: You think so, I think so.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I just think it's just I don't know, because I
- 4:06Speaker 2: remember when the animated movies first came out, I was
- 4:08Speaker 2: like I don't want this, Like like when they announced it,
- 4:10Speaker 2: I was like, I don't want Miles. I like, I
- 4:12Speaker 2: want to see Miles, you know an actor. Yeah, because
- 4:16Speaker 2: he's Puerto Rican. I'm Puerto Rican, you know what I'm saying.
- 4:18Speaker 2: So I'm like, Okay, this is dope because you know
- 4:20Speaker 2: we're gonna get like we're getting a first of all
- 4:21Speaker 2: Afro Latino representation on the big screen. He's from Brooklyn,
- 4:25Speaker 2: My family's from Brooklyn, Like it just kind of felt like, Okay,
- 4:28Speaker 2: this is dope. But then like when it actually came out,
- 4:30Speaker 2: like into the Spider Verse, became like one of my
- 4:33Speaker 2: favorite superhero movies of all time. And I think the
- 4:35Speaker 2: two of them alone are really the best Spider Man
- 4:38Speaker 2: movies ever created. And it's weird because it's animated, so
- 4:41Speaker 2: you wouldn't no Meal think that, But I like, I like.
- 4:43Speaker 1: The new one way better than I like like the
- 4:45Speaker 1: Tom Holland once. For sure.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I think I agree with you man the time. You
- 4:49Speaker 3: know what the one is that last time Holland won,
- 4:50Speaker 3: when it's just got that one moment where all the
- 4:53Speaker 3: Spider Man come together and you're just like, ah, it's
- 4:55Speaker 3: like this is crazy.
- 4:57Speaker 1: But have you rewatched it, like after the fact.
- 5:00Speaker 3: It's not as great when you rewatch it, for sure.
- 5:02Speaker 3: You're right, Like it's like it's just like one of
- 5:03Speaker 3: those in theater moments that you remember, almost like an endgame,
- 5:07Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Like it's it's but yeah,
- 5:09Speaker 3: the Spider for shit is lit. So look, let's get
- 5:10Speaker 3: to you obviously built this platform. Yeah, was on the
- 5:15Speaker 3: radar something that you had always kind of like because
- 5:21Speaker 3: I think early on I was seeing you were doing
- 5:23Speaker 3: stuff during the pandemic on like zoom YEP and what
- 5:27Speaker 3: everybody was doing, right, we all had to do that.
- 5:29Speaker 3: So when did you initially would you launch on the
- 5:32Speaker 3: Radar during the pandemic or was it prior to the pandemic? Like,
- 5:35Speaker 3: give me the kind of the history.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Well, like on the Radar started in twenty eighteen, so
- 5:39Speaker 2: like I originally had the idea because for me, like,
- 5:42Speaker 2: you know, I'm twenty six, so I was twenty eighteen.
- 5:45Speaker 2: I was like I was like twenty one, twenty twoish,
- 5:48Speaker 2: and my biggest thing for me back then was like
- 5:50Speaker 2: I you know, I was a young kid, and I
- 5:52Speaker 2: was listening to like, you know, the little Uzi Versy
- 5:54Speaker 2: Yatis and the whatnot, and I would see them go
- 5:56Speaker 2: on different platforms, and I just felt like they weren't
- 5:59Speaker 2: really under stood by you know. You think about like
- 6:01Speaker 2: the infamous Joe Budden moment with him and YACHTI, and
- 6:03Speaker 2: it's like.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Even like the ebro one where they were like trying
- 6:06Speaker 3: to get him a rap over some premo shit.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Right, And I don't necessarily blame them for those moments,
- 6:11Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, because you know, they just
- 6:13Speaker 2: didn't understand their generation, right, you know what I'm saying,
- 6:15Speaker 2: they're younger kids, right, So I felt like at that time,
- 6:18Speaker 2: I was like, damn, like I don't really see them
- 6:21Speaker 2: being represented properly in a media space. And I didn't
- 6:23Speaker 2: really see anybody and my age really being able to
- 6:27Speaker 2: be in this media space and also kind of be
- 6:30Speaker 2: that kind of that like that person that's able to
- 6:33Speaker 2: grab them and help them, you know, be presented properly
- 6:36Speaker 2: the way that like, you know, you think of like
- 6:37Speaker 2: an Angree Martinez in the nineties with with with everybody
- 6:41Speaker 2: from New York, or you think of or bless you,
- 6:44Speaker 2: or you think of whom I Who am I thinking
- 6:47Speaker 2: of Columbia Radio Station. I don't know why I'm blanking
- 6:50Speaker 2: right now stretching Bobido right like or how stretching Barbido
- 6:54Speaker 2: was there to help bring.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Up Biggie Wu Tang.
- 6:57Speaker 1: They had like some of.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Their first you think about those, and like, I wanted
- 7:02Speaker 2: to do something like that for this generation. So I
- 7:06Speaker 2: came up with the idea back in like the summer
- 7:09Speaker 2: of twenty eighteen, right after I graduated college.
- 7:11Speaker 1: You know, I kind of.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Presumed were you already at power?
- 7:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I was.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Already full time on the digital side of things. I
- 7:17Speaker 2: was part of the Andrew Martinez Show. I helped that
- 7:19Speaker 2: with Breakfast Club. So I did a little bit of everything,
- 7:21Speaker 2: and when it came to like creating this space, I
- 7:23Speaker 2: was like, you know, I wanted it to be like
- 7:25Speaker 2: on the radio station, but they were like, you know
- 7:27Speaker 2: what's build it on your own, you know what I'm saying,
- 7:28Speaker 2: Like kind of started getting going. They had a room
- 7:30Speaker 2: there that I could use. It was the same room
- 7:31Speaker 2: that Charlotte used to film Brilliant Idiots in. So I
- 7:34Speaker 2: was just filming like one interview a day or like
- 7:36Speaker 2: one interview a week, something like that, and it was
- 7:38Speaker 2: just I was finding anybody and anybody and everybody I
- 7:41Speaker 2: can interview, just trying to start building my connection. So
- 7:43Speaker 2: I was doing that for a while and then I
- 7:45Speaker 2: started making more younger friends in the industry, and that's
- 7:48Speaker 2: how I ended up getting up some bigger artists, started
- 7:50Speaker 2: getting a little more recognition in New York, and then
- 7:52Speaker 2: the pandemic came, and like right before the pandemic, I
- 7:55Speaker 2: did this interview with Bankroll Freddie and like that was
- 7:57Speaker 2: kind of like my biggest interview at the time. It
- 7:59Speaker 2: had like I think I had like twenty thousand views
- 8:01Speaker 2: like in like a week or whatever, which was like
- 8:02Speaker 2: a lot for me at the time, right, And I
- 8:04Speaker 2: was like, Okay, cool, I have all this traction.
- 8:06Speaker 1: But now like everything is shutting down dead right.
- 8:09Speaker 2: So I was like in a space where it was
- 8:11Speaker 2: weird because I also had another show at the time
- 8:13Speaker 2: I did with Power called Enter Player Too, which was
- 8:16Speaker 2: like a video game show, so I would play like
- 8:19Speaker 2: Mortal Kombat two K with like some artists, like I
- 8:22Speaker 2: had Chef Gs, Sleepy Hollow on this show too, which
- 8:24Speaker 2: was like one of their most talkative interviews, which was
- 8:26Speaker 2: really dope at the time. So Pandemic came, I'm like
- 8:29Speaker 2: and I was like, damn, what do I do now?
- 8:30Speaker 2: Like I really don't know what to do. The Zoom
- 8:33Speaker 2: interviews came around, and then like I kind of got
- 8:35Speaker 2: out of this like you know, depressive state that I
- 8:37Speaker 2: was in, not knowing where to go with my show,
- 8:40Speaker 2: just having to do the social media stuff every single day,
- 8:42Speaker 2: which was like it was fine, but it's like it's
- 8:43Speaker 2: not what I love to do. And I just started
- 8:46Speaker 2: doing like two to three Zoom interviews like every day,
- 8:49Speaker 2: Like I was just like, you know what, anybody again,
- 8:51Speaker 2: anybody and everybody who I can connect with in any
- 8:53Speaker 2: place in the world.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I'm ana do I'm gonna figure it out.
- 8:56Speaker 2: So I was doing interviews with with people like some
- 8:59Speaker 2: afrobeat artists, like I did Stoneboy very early on in
- 9:03Speaker 2: my career, and then I was doing like people from
- 9:05Speaker 2: like the Carolina's Florida, like literally anybody that I could
- 9:07Speaker 2: do a zoom interview with. And then it kind of
- 9:09Speaker 2: came to a point where it was like we had
- 9:11Speaker 2: I figured out this rhythm with the content. I'm like, okay,
- 9:13Speaker 2: I think I know what I'm doing now. And we started,
- 9:15Speaker 2: you know, getting out of the pandemic, and I was like,
- 9:18Speaker 2: you know, I want to do live interview So I
- 9:19Speaker 2: started doing those again, and I came up with I
- 9:22Speaker 2: had always had this idea for freestyles on the show,
- 9:25Speaker 2: and I had done them kind of ghetto before, Like
- 9:26Speaker 2: I would have my laptop literally sitting right here, plug
- 9:30Speaker 2: the headphones into the laptop, and then I would put
- 9:34Speaker 2: the volume all the way up, let them wrap, and
- 9:37Speaker 2: then in post production, I would try to hear where
- 9:39Speaker 2: the beat started and I would try to match it up.
- 9:42Speaker 3: That's fucking crazy, super.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Ghetto, super ghetto, right, but it worked, It worked, It worked.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I only had like one or two that I couldn't
- 9:48Speaker 2: put out because of that. So we had that done
- 9:51Speaker 2: and then I found this spot.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Well well, because you guys had freestyles where they weren't
- 9:55Speaker 3: wearing headphones sometimes, right, Am I tripping?
- 9:57Speaker 1: No?
- 9:58Speaker 3: We always have Okay, maybe I'm tripping. I've saw somebody
- 10:00Speaker 3: freestyling there was no headphones on, and I was like, Amaja, no,
- 10:03Speaker 3: somebody somebody ship there was. I was like, what is
- 10:05Speaker 3: going on here? They don't have headphones on? Ware the
- 10:07Speaker 3: hearing the beat?
- 10:08Speaker 2: Actually, okay, there was one. There was one we do.
- 10:11Speaker 2: We had like some ciphers, like we did a Christmas cipher.
- 10:13Speaker 2: We called it the Christmas and Harlem.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Site for I remember seeing that you guys had like
- 10:17Speaker 3: a fucking seventy eight people wrap.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Yeah, we had like sixteen people rapping. That was That
- 10:21Speaker 2: was a really dope moment too. But that we had
- 10:23Speaker 2: like a speaker outside and they could hear it. Same
- 10:26Speaker 2: with the Ladies Night that we just did in Atlanta.
- 10:28Speaker 2: That one had a we had a h an external
- 10:30Speaker 2: speaker that they could hear the beat played off of and.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Would just hand yeah.
- 10:35Speaker 2: My producer Rob is like a magician with that. I
- 10:37Speaker 2: don't even know how he does it, but he finesses it.
- 10:39Speaker 2: But we started doing the freestyles like kind of shortly after,
- 10:43Speaker 2: like I kind of caught the wave of the drill scene,
- 10:45Speaker 2: like I had caught you know, k Flogg be Love
- 10:47Speaker 2: and Dougie b I did their first interview together. I
- 10:50Speaker 2: did Dusty Locaine Busy Banks around that time, and then
- 10:52Speaker 2: I was like, all right, I got this motion doing
- 10:54Speaker 2: these interviews.
- 10:55Speaker 3: What else Bobby fitsher? Guys?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Bobby, Bobby fitted. Shout out Bobby Man, shout out Bro.
- 11:01Speaker 2: But yeah, So then like I found this spot called
- 11:03Speaker 2: HMD Studios out in Brooklyn, which is, you know, sadly
- 11:07Speaker 2: closing its doors really soon, but that's kind of where
- 11:10Speaker 2: we started doing the freestyles. And I just like, I
- 11:12Speaker 2: have my producer, Rob, who I mentioned at the time,
- 11:15Speaker 2: and I'm like, Bro, we're doing all these interviews with
- 11:16Speaker 2: like these dope up and coming artists.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I'm like, can we do freestyles here?
- 11:20Speaker 2: And he called over the owners to the studio and
- 11:23Speaker 2: who are also friends of mine.
- 11:24Speaker 1: He's like, is this possible? And they're like, yeah, this
- 11:25Speaker 1: is possible.
- 11:26Speaker 2: So we started off just kind of like doing again
- 11:30Speaker 2: once again, Like anybody who wanted to come rap, just
- 11:33Speaker 2: bring him to come rap. And one of the first
- 11:35Speaker 2: people who I had come wrap on on the freestyles
- 11:37Speaker 2: and that studio was Lola Brook because ME and Lola
- 11:39Speaker 2: had done interviews before, so we had this relationship. And
- 11:42Speaker 2: then kind of from there we just kind of caught
- 11:44Speaker 2: this wave. We caught the drill wave in New York
- 11:45Speaker 2: and then I.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Fyle Ice Spice.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Ice Spice. This ship was.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Again, Hey man, look if I have the only Ice
- 11:53Speaker 2: Spice free, if I have the only Ice Spice freestyle ever,
- 11:56Speaker 2: I'll be happy.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I'll be happy.
- 11:58Speaker 2: But like you know, we caught a lot of really dope,
- 12:00Speaker 2: incredible artists early on, and I feel like, you know,
- 12:02Speaker 2: that's kind of where I wanted to be at in
- 12:05Speaker 2: twenty eighteen. It took a bit of time, but like
- 12:08Speaker 2: you know, I feel like a lot of young people
- 12:09Speaker 2: in this industry don't always realize how long things takeing
- 12:12Speaker 2: to you guys.
- 12:13Speaker 3: So when we started doing freestyles for the podcast, we
- 12:15Speaker 3: kind of started the same way, I think because we
- 12:18Speaker 3: were thinking of the monetization route. So I would have
- 12:20Speaker 3: my producer, Tony Chak just give me a beat that
- 12:23Speaker 3: was original that wouldn't get flagged. So a lot of
- 12:25Speaker 3: your guys, beats are from producers that it's not like
- 12:29Speaker 3: they're freestyling over like Poundtown, you know what I'm saying,
- 12:32Speaker 3: Like there's original instrument instrumentals right some cases.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you know, I kind of like to
- 12:36Speaker 2: give the artists the free range to do what they
- 12:38Speaker 2: what they want.
- 12:39Speaker 1: We do have a lot of we have in house producers.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Now.
- 12:42Speaker 1: My boy Fritz cooks up a lot of the beats.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Him man gave us the beat for the ladies nice
- 12:46Speaker 2: I first, so that was really dope.
- 12:48Speaker 1: But I try to give them the free range.
- 12:49Speaker 3: You know.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I got a great partnership or create on the monetization
- 12:52Speaker 2: side of things, so they helped me kind of soar
- 12:54Speaker 2: through all those things with the beats and kind of
- 12:56Speaker 2: like getting copyrights on.
- 12:59Speaker 3: You guys, all the freestyles on like Spotify and all
- 13:02Speaker 3: that shit.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Not all of them, but we have a lot, Like
- 13:04Speaker 1: we put out.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Like what one hundred and fifteen already this year, one
- 13:09Speaker 2: hundred and fifteen already this year, So we have like
- 13:11Speaker 2: entire we have a pretty big catalog that we just
- 13:14Speaker 2: dropped this year. Alone, but we try to encourage artists now,
- 13:17Speaker 2: especially the up and coming ones. It's like, look, if
- 13:19Speaker 2: you're coming on the show, you might as well do
- 13:21Speaker 2: an original beat so we can put you in our
- 13:23Speaker 2: ecosystem on streaming, and then you get on the radar fans,
- 13:26Speaker 2: We get your fans, and then we kind of are
- 13:27Speaker 2: able to marry that together.
- 13:30Speaker 3: So for you, like, uh, you say, how were you
- 13:34Speaker 3: with Angie? Like every day like money through Friday?
- 13:36Speaker 1: Yeah, every day for many years?
- 13:40Speaker 3: What was the Because Angie's obviously I've met her a
- 13:42Speaker 3: few times and she always is so fucking like you
- 13:45Speaker 3: know I was when before I met her, I was
- 13:47Speaker 3: just assumed she had this or around it. But she's
- 13:49Speaker 3: so nice, like, yeah, she's like super super, super super sweetheart.
- 13:52Speaker 3: What was for you being around the voice in New York?
- 13:56Speaker 3: Would you learn? Man? Would you take away the one thing?
- 13:59Speaker 3: I'm sure you learned a million things, but you know,
- 14:01Speaker 3: I'm sure is there one or two things that you
- 14:04Speaker 3: kind of apply to what you're doing right now?
- 14:06Speaker 2: I feel like the one thing that I always tell
- 14:08Speaker 2: people I took away from being around Angie was like
- 14:11Speaker 2: how important relationships are in this industry?
- 14:13Speaker 3: Right?
- 14:14Speaker 2: And I learned this with Angie when I was working
- 14:17Speaker 2: her digital side, like, you know, like if I'm trying
- 14:19Speaker 2: to think of it, like let's say, like I worked
- 14:22Speaker 2: a six ' nine interview for an example, right, Like
- 14:24Speaker 2: I would think about, like I thought from a young
- 14:26Speaker 2: person's perspective, I'm like, what headline can we put this
- 14:28Speaker 2: on YouTube that will get the most clicks? And then
- 14:30Speaker 2: Angie would always reiterate to me, it's not about always
- 14:33Speaker 2: what's going to get you the most clicks, but like
- 14:36Speaker 2: or like what can what's going to be messier?
- 14:38Speaker 1: What was this?
- 14:39Speaker 2: But she's like, you got to remember that, like building
- 14:40Speaker 2: relationships over time is important.
- 14:42Speaker 1: She's like, you know, you don't want to just go
- 14:44Speaker 1: right for.
- 14:44Speaker 2: The clickbait stuff and then you burn a bridge with somebody, right,
- 14:48Speaker 2: And as I got older, I started realizing how important
- 14:51Speaker 2: that is because a lot of the you know media
- 14:53Speaker 2: now oftentimes we you know, people want to go right
- 14:55Speaker 2: for clickbaity headlines this and that, but then it doesn't
- 14:58Speaker 2: you don't you know, those same you know, YouTube pages
- 15:02Speaker 2: or whatever, like they don't think about like the long
- 15:04Speaker 2: term implications of that. You know, you kind of burn
- 15:07Speaker 2: bridges or you don't you burn relationships and I just
- 15:09Speaker 2: you know, I remember I was at a party I
- 15:11Speaker 2: think for it was like Angie and Angeliauee's like day off,
- 15:13Speaker 2: I think that's what they called it.
- 15:15Speaker 1: And it was like in the winter time.
- 15:16Speaker 2: It was around their birthdays, and I remember just seeing
- 15:18Speaker 2: like everybody in the room with them, Like I saw
- 15:21Speaker 2: like Joe and a bunch of other like people who've
- 15:22Speaker 2: just been around them for X amount of years, And
- 15:24Speaker 2: I'm like, you know, you think about the relationships that
- 15:27Speaker 2: they built over these periods of time and how they
- 15:29Speaker 2: wouldn't be around now if they had, you know, had
- 15:33Speaker 2: like that clickbait mentality, like oh, I got to ask
- 15:35Speaker 2: them some crazy shit just to get you know, one
- 15:37Speaker 2: hundred kviews, because sometimes those one hundred kviews ain't worth
- 15:40Speaker 2: the relationship being broken, you know. I'd rather I tell
- 15:42Speaker 2: ars all the time, like I'd rather mess with out
- 15:44Speaker 2: for like five to ten years and us do this
- 15:46Speaker 2: a million times and me just get one hundred k
- 15:48Speaker 2: views off of you one time, and then now we
- 15:49Speaker 2: beef and we don't like each other no more.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I've had that. I just went on back on
- 15:53Speaker 3: fig Man and fucking whoever t Rose guy is fucking
- 15:56Speaker 3: mislabeled some clip and I had to hit him like, bro,
- 15:59Speaker 3: this this wasn't said like He's like, bro, my bad,
- 16:04Speaker 3: let me fix it. But I just yeah, I think
- 16:06Speaker 3: I think, you know, there's definitely for you. I feel
- 16:08Speaker 3: like you don't do messy ship, which is important, you know. Yeah,
- 16:12Speaker 3: and we try not to do messy shit over here.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I mean we just interviewed Krishawan Rock and Blue Face
- 16:16Speaker 3: or not Krishan Rock.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Blue Face and his pearms. Yeah, I was talking that
- 16:21Speaker 2: before I came here.
- 16:22Speaker 3: That was messy for sure.
- 16:23Speaker 1: That was definitely.
- 16:24Speaker 2: But that's not you trying to be messy, like you're
- 16:26Speaker 2: just doing the interview. Like it's like you're not the
- 16:28Speaker 2: messy one there in this case. You're just asking questions
- 16:31Speaker 2: that people want to know for sure, and it's not
- 16:32Speaker 2: like it's not like you're not perfectly like I mean,
- 16:34Speaker 2: at the end of the day, like it's interesting conversation,
- 16:36Speaker 2: like right, we're the first interview to do both of
- 16:38Speaker 2: them together, and like people are interested in them.
- 16:41Speaker 3: You know.
- 16:42Speaker 2: No matter how many times I mute, I mute Blue
- 16:44Speaker 2: Face's name from my timeline, somehow I always popped heavy Chris,
- 16:48Speaker 2: I always pop back.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Up it will always pop up. Man, So what do
- 16:52Speaker 3: you kind of remember, like what video for you kind
- 16:55Speaker 3: of made you realize like, oh there's something here that
- 16:58Speaker 3: like I can leave. I was about say ninety seven
- 17:01Speaker 3: damn sorry, sorry, sorry to leave Power one oh five
- 17:07Speaker 3: and kind of just go full time with your own shit.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Well I'm still at Power. I still do my radio
- 17:12Speaker 2: shows at Power, but like leaving my I'm.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Talking about your full time Yeah, the full time doing
- 17:16Speaker 3: the social media director thing. Yeah, the show's on the
- 17:18Speaker 3: air right.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Yeah, shows on Friday nights as well too.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I you know, I think it was really kind of
- 17:23Speaker 2: when the motion started going on, when we caught the
- 17:26Speaker 2: second wave of drill music but like kflocking them and
- 17:28Speaker 2: the Bronx, Like that's when I was like, okay, there's
- 17:30Speaker 2: something here that we can really tap into. And then
- 17:33Speaker 2: it was just kind of like over time, like the
- 17:35Speaker 2: reason why I had to leave that position. It was
- 17:38Speaker 2: just like, you know, I caught myself at times being
- 17:41Speaker 2: like I like, I don't care about this as much
- 17:43Speaker 2: as I care about on the radar, you know what
- 17:44Speaker 2: I'm saying. Like I I wasn't in like the most
- 17:47Speaker 2: like financially stable place where I was like okay, like
- 17:49Speaker 2: I could do on the radar full time, but like
- 17:51Speaker 2: it was getting to the point where my brain couldn't
- 17:53Speaker 2: handle doing this other job and doing on the radar.
- 17:56Speaker 1: And it kind of like felt like to the point
- 17:58Speaker 1: where it's like, not that.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I'm wasting It didn't feel like I was wasting my
- 18:01Speaker 2: time doing that position, but it felt like that energy
- 18:04Speaker 2: that I'm doing at that the energy I was given
- 18:06Speaker 2: that job. If I put it into on the radar,
- 18:08Speaker 2: I could go, you know, And and you know, everybody
- 18:11Speaker 2: at Power is very supportive of that decision, like they're like, look, man,
- 18:15Speaker 2: like you have something special. You know, I think you should.
- 18:17Speaker 2: You should, you know, take the chance on it. And
- 18:20Speaker 2: then it was just like, you know, we went with it,
- 18:21Speaker 2: and you know, we caught that drill wave early. We
- 18:23Speaker 2: caught like you know, like you said, the ice spices,
- 18:25Speaker 2: the d things, you had the four to one guy,
- 18:28Speaker 2: you had jenn and you had Jennen coll up here.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Yeah, that freestyle for y'all, it was crazy.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Sixteen M yeah, sixteen M.
- 18:36Speaker 3: It's crazy. Yeah. But you know, isn't that on DP.
- 18:40Speaker 2: That one isn't They kind of they turned two of
- 18:42Speaker 2: those records. I think into songs, but not every piece
- 18:45Speaker 2: of that was ever released on streaming. But that's also
- 18:48Speaker 2: something we learned early on too, that you know that
- 18:51Speaker 2: we all kind of we don't regret it now, but
- 18:53Speaker 2: like now when you look back at it in twenty
- 18:56Speaker 2: twenty three, like it's like damn, Like if we kind
- 18:58Speaker 2: of had our shit to get the way that we
- 19:00Speaker 2: have now with streaming services, that could have just gone.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Same with Ice Spice, Like we probably could have gotten
- 19:04Speaker 2: Ice Spic's freestyle on streaming if this was, you know,
- 19:08Speaker 2: a year and a half ago before she blew up.
- 19:10Speaker 1: But I think that's all part of the learning process.
- 19:12Speaker 2: You know. I wish I could have had these on streaming.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I wish I could have had these records under my name, But.
- 19:15Speaker 3: You never know, man, Like you know, like you said,
- 19:17Speaker 3: like you gotta you gotta learn as you go, brother,
- 19:20Speaker 3: Like this shit is there's no there's no roadmap to
- 19:22Speaker 3: this shit. So guy stopped. The interviewer said about our
- 19:24Speaker 3: good folks at odd Socks, Baby, yeah, shot out to
- 19:28Speaker 3: odd Socks. Now, this is what I love about odd Socks. One,

- 22:03Speaker 3: The drill Ship is so like it feels like from
- 22:06Speaker 3: like a guy who lives in LA because I got
- 22:08Speaker 3: out there, we hung out with we hung out with Dusty,
- 22:12Speaker 3: we hung out with who else a bunch of those guys. Yeah,
- 22:19Speaker 3: but obviously the rep is is a very violent, divisive
- 22:23Speaker 3: genre of music. Right do you have you ever got
- 22:27Speaker 3: wrapped up in any of the fucking just because I'm
- 22:30Speaker 3: sure you gotta kind of play friends with everybody, right
- 22:32Speaker 3: of course, because and do you think it's a lot
- 22:35Speaker 3: a lot of it's overstated?
- 22:37Speaker 1: Well I got a few opinions on that.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Well, Like the one thing I got caught up in
- 22:40Speaker 2: was like when you know, there was like a point
- 22:42Speaker 2: where I was like, all right, like y'all doing too
- 22:44Speaker 2: much like this one on my show, Like I'm not
- 22:46Speaker 2: trying to do all this right, So I had like
- 22:48Speaker 2: made a statement where.
- 22:50Speaker 1: That I caught a lot of flak for from people
- 22:52Speaker 1: this is like a year ago. But I was like, look,
- 22:53Speaker 1: I think I remember that you said, like no more
- 22:55Speaker 1: think of anybody, no more name dropping.
- 22:57Speaker 2: And if you do name drop, it's going to get
- 22:59Speaker 2: xed out, right because I'm not trying to deal with
- 23:01Speaker 2: an add to that, right, I don't. I'm not trying
- 23:02Speaker 2: to add to that. I'm not trying to politic with that.
- 23:04Speaker 2: And but I still want to support you out because
- 23:06Speaker 2: I believe.
- 23:07Speaker 3: In a lot of them.
- 23:07Speaker 1: You feel me, And I caught a lot of flag
- 23:09Speaker 1: for that.
- 23:09Speaker 2: But over time, like you know, like anything, you just
- 23:12Speaker 2: ride out the wave and it's cool. You know what
- 23:14Speaker 2: I'm saying, Like nobody really is like is like upset
- 23:17Speaker 2: by that anymore. They're like, oh, why can't I do
- 23:18Speaker 2: the I'm like, I'm not going to let you use
- 23:20Speaker 2: my platform as a way to like go at you, right,
- 23:23Speaker 2: there's other platforms that you could go do that on.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Go do that on that platform.
- 23:26Speaker 2: This is like, you know, if you want to create
- 23:28Speaker 2: like the corner like the perfect cornerstone hip hop platform,
- 23:32Speaker 2: Like I don't want it to be known for that.
- 23:35Speaker 2: So like that part, but I feel like, you know,
- 23:37Speaker 2: when it comes to like the music itself is like
- 23:39Speaker 2: these kids like this is what they really live in,
- 23:41Speaker 2: and I feel like me, Like I think Rob Markman
- 23:44Speaker 2: had also said on like Rotation Round Taylor show that
- 23:47Speaker 2: I do on Amazon, he was like, look, man, he's like,
- 23:49Speaker 2: if you really listen into a lot of like you know,
- 23:51Speaker 2: gangster rap lyrics from like nineties, early two thousands, like
- 23:54Speaker 2: if you listen to like the locks, like they they
- 23:57Speaker 2: say in some of the same shit that these kids
- 23:58Speaker 2: are saying, they just saying, it differ like definitely now
- 24:00Speaker 2: it's more like I feel like it's more detailed, for sure,
- 24:05Speaker 2: but also it's not that far from what we've already
- 24:09Speaker 2: gotten in the past. You feel me and again like
- 24:12Speaker 2: these kids like this is their real life situations and
- 24:15Speaker 2: that's and you know.
- 24:16Speaker 3: It just feels more like you said, not only the
- 24:18Speaker 3: detailed aspect of it, but we also like back then
- 24:21Speaker 3: we didn't have social media, so like motherfuckers were going
- 24:23Speaker 3: live on people's blocks, and like it just feels like
- 24:27Speaker 3: now it's like, man, these guys are really doing some
- 24:28Speaker 3: shit on the internet, then going and rapping about it
- 24:30Speaker 3: and then getting arrested for it and then getting sense like.
- 24:33Speaker 2: No, it's definitely dumb, Like like it's definitely dumb how
- 24:35Speaker 2: they put everything on the Internet. But I'll be thinking about,
- 24:38Speaker 2: like if the internet was around back then, like.
- 24:40Speaker 3: It it'd be a wild place because then you had
- 24:42Speaker 3: hip hop police back then, and I'm sure there's hip
- 24:44Speaker 3: hop police now, but back then it was like there
- 24:45Speaker 3: was like old task force, Like.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Right, I was like, I was even just watching this
- 24:49Speaker 2: video on the way here was like fifty cent.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I forgot out what.
- 24:50Speaker 2: BET Awards it was, but it was like, you know,
- 24:53Speaker 2: they're like fifty was a wild boy, like he didn't
- 24:55Speaker 2: wrap the whole first verse of his song, walked around
- 24:58Speaker 2: the arena waiting to see if if any of his
- 25:00Speaker 2: like Ops or whoever would do something, and like you know,
- 25:03Speaker 2: and they were like and what was the caps was like, oh,
- 25:05Speaker 2: the BT Wars need to start bringing rappers back to
- 25:08Speaker 2: the BT Awards who be with each other, you know
- 25:10Speaker 2: what I'm saying.
- 25:11Speaker 1: And I was like, first of all, terrible idea, terrible idea.
- 25:15Speaker 2: But at the same time, it's like, but I think
- 25:17Speaker 2: about I'm like, Okay, that was fifty back then now
- 25:19Speaker 2: and that's without the Internet.
- 25:21Speaker 1: So imagine if like it's.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Been all over Academics and Shade Room and.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Right, So it's like it's not that much.
- 25:27Speaker 2: You know when people criticize or you know, the last
- 25:29Speaker 2: generation criticizes this generation for what they do. I think
- 25:32Speaker 2: it's just like you got to look in the mirror
- 25:33Speaker 2: and be like, look, if social media was around when
- 25:36Speaker 2: you guys were outside doing what ch'all was doing, is like,
- 25:39Speaker 2: it wouldn't really be that different.
- 25:41Speaker 1: We're all human at the end of the day.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Like, I wouldn't be surprised if back then you would
- 25:44Speaker 2: see like somebody on ag love talk, Oh.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Like oh no no, if the Internet was not around.
- 25:50Speaker 3: So it's like it's different, bro. It's like, shit, when
- 25:52Speaker 3: fifty first came out, I'm not even sure my Space
- 25:54Speaker 3: was popping like that. Definitely not definitely not, but it's like, yeah,
- 25:58Speaker 3: it's different, different world everything, like everything is online. And
- 26:01Speaker 3: then also the pressure of like having it not look
- 26:03Speaker 3: like a bitch because you're on the Internet comes into
- 26:06Speaker 3: people reacting. Maybe if they wouldn't have reacted had they
- 26:08Speaker 3: not realized that the whole world will see how they.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Would react, you know what I'm saying, right, But I'd
- 26:12Speaker 1: be telling them too.
- 26:13Speaker 2: I'd be like, look like sometimes, like what the music
- 26:15Speaker 2: that ch'n'll make is like you have to remember that
- 26:17Speaker 2: the music that you make, like it's.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Not just people.
- 26:19Speaker 2: And if we're talking strictly from a New York drill perspective,
- 26:22Speaker 2: it's like it's not even just like the music. People
- 26:24Speaker 2: in New York aren't just seeing this, like people all
- 26:26Speaker 2: around the country seeing this, and like that affects your
- 26:29Speaker 2: money at the end of the day too, because someone
- 26:32Speaker 2: from you know, you're talking from like a West Coast perspective,
- 26:34Speaker 2: if you hear them talking crazy dissing X Y and
- 26:36Speaker 2: Z is like and you're a promoter or you're a
- 26:38Speaker 2: showbook or whatever your love nation, It's like, I don't
- 26:41Speaker 2: know if I want to book.
- 26:41Speaker 3: These well, even like the Rolling Loud shit like guys
- 26:43Speaker 3: was getting like they were getting banned from.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Right ronk Tu two G's I think Dougie b two
- 26:49Speaker 2: and like it's like I'm like some of this stuff
- 26:51Speaker 2: and Ronzuno didn't. I don't know why they did that
- 26:53Speaker 2: to Ronsruno, But like all this stuff can affect your
- 26:57Speaker 2: money at the end of day and your longevity.
- 26:58Speaker 1: So like let's say you have like the big this
- 27:00Speaker 1: record in the world. Great, but like if how but like.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Are you worth a liability for me to book you?
- 27:07Speaker 2: Yeah, what at what costs? Like, like it got you
- 27:10Speaker 2: lit amazing congratulates. I think that that's great for you,
- 27:13Speaker 2: but like at what cost does at what cost? Does
- 27:15Speaker 2: it then affect the rest of your money now, because
- 27:18Speaker 2: now people for the rest of time will be like,
- 27:20Speaker 2: I don't know because they liability because you know, I
- 27:22Speaker 2: don't want him coming to LA And then the people
- 27:24Speaker 2: that they're talking about move to LA too, and then
- 27:26Speaker 2: now they the people they talking about trying to get
- 27:28Speaker 2: somebody to come from.
- 27:29Speaker 3: I mean, like, if you think about the nationally biggest people,
- 27:33Speaker 3: obviously Pop Smoke, Rest in Peace, Rest and Peace, Pop
- 27:36Speaker 3: pivoted into and I don't even he didn't even get
- 27:39Speaker 3: to see the success of his pivots sonically five or four,
- 27:44Speaker 3: and you know, doing the record with Alicia and like
- 27:46Speaker 3: not necessarily leaning on that ship. And then even like
- 27:50Speaker 3: I mean, Ice Spice is wrapping over drill ship, you
- 27:52Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like, yeah, she's a pop star.
- 27:55Speaker 3: It's kind of crazy, It's like really crazy. Yeah, Ice
- 27:58Speaker 3: Spice is the closest thing that I've ever seen that
- 28:00Speaker 3: if someone said that industry plans were real, which they're not.
- 28:03Speaker 3: I don't believe that that.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I don't beieve that either.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not a real thing. But if there was
- 28:06Speaker 3: like some like internet rap conspiracy that ice Spice was
- 28:10Speaker 3: an industry plan, I'd be like, I understand why you
- 28:13Speaker 3: think that, right, because it is just like it's crazy.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Has she done an interview beside you?
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 28:19Speaker 3: Oh oh yeah, she's like breakfast clever or anything.
- 28:21Speaker 1: She hasn't done. She did ebro on Apple Will on
- 28:25Speaker 1: Apple one.
- 28:25Speaker 3: She hasn't been like like like the traditional Hot ninety seven.
- 28:29Speaker 2: She did Hot, she didn't she didn't want to have,
- 28:31Speaker 2: but it wasn't like super And that she doesn't do
- 28:33Speaker 2: a lot of interviews.
- 28:34Speaker 1: I noticed that too.
- 28:35Speaker 3: It's prance smart not to overexpose yourself.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I think, like you know, you know what you
- 28:39Speaker 2: were saying about, like the with Pop, Like, first of all,
- 28:42Speaker 2: like the fact that Pop is still probably the.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Most streamed artist in New York in terms of younger artists.
- 28:48Speaker 3: And bro in La this motherfucker non stop every single
- 28:52Speaker 3: power rotation for like two years straight. I'm talking about
- 28:56Speaker 3: like what you know about love is still like a
- 28:58Speaker 3: subpower in La. Yeah, crazy like and it's it's such
- 29:02Speaker 3: because he didn't get to see, yeah, you know, the
- 29:04Speaker 3: fruits of his labor one hundred percent. You know, Like
- 29:06Speaker 3: I feel like the part too of what was the
- 29:09Speaker 3: EP that he put out was the before he died.
- 29:13Speaker 1: It was the oh that was the last piece of work,
- 29:17Speaker 1: I think, yeah, before literally like two weeks.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Yeah, and then this fucking album drops and it's like
- 29:23Speaker 3: just hit record after hit record in this like and.
- 29:26Speaker 2: It's crazy because this is like the album that dropped.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Probably that was I don't know, I was they did
- 29:32Speaker 2: some call where they played us a project. I don't
- 29:33Speaker 2: know if they said it was sixty percent done before
- 29:35Speaker 2: he passed away or something like that, but like you
- 29:36Speaker 2: imagine it's like, Okay, what if you actually what if
- 29:39Speaker 2: it's still around him? He was here to finish these
- 29:40Speaker 2: records and had the features on it that he wanted,
- 29:43Speaker 2: you know, not saying that they put all those features
- 29:45Speaker 2: on there, because.
- 29:46Speaker 3: I think fifty did a great job of like executive
- 29:48Speaker 3: producing and same because like, yeah, this because the last
- 29:52Speaker 3: album was cool, but it was definitely you're like, oh,
- 29:55Speaker 3: this this was like super unfinished stuff that they just
- 29:58Speaker 3: pulled together and they so many random features and ship and.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Yeah, one of my one of my man's produced one
- 30:03Speaker 2: of the songs on on on that on that project,
- 30:06Speaker 2: and then they switched they like switched.
- 30:08Speaker 3: The beat on him. See like that kind of shit.
- 30:10Speaker 2: It's like you know, or like they had two songs
- 30:13Speaker 2: on there, the one with Busy Banks and the one
- 30:15Speaker 2: with Ross Wish. Those were songs that were finished before
- 30:18Speaker 2: he passed away. Fish No, No, they let him on,
- 30:22Speaker 2: but you could tell, like when you listen to the project,
- 30:24Speaker 2: you can kind of tell what records were there before
- 30:28Speaker 2: he passed away versus what was kind of like kind
- 30:30Speaker 2: of Frankenstein together after the fact, and like that sucks
- 30:34Speaker 2: to me, Like and I heard stories of like his
- 30:36Speaker 2: friends verses getting taken over from him and stuff like that,
- 30:40Speaker 2: Like and I don't like shit like that kind of
- 30:42Speaker 2: like look like he was trying to put his Like
- 30:44Speaker 2: Pop was always about putting his people.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Like if you watch all these interviews when especially the
- 30:47Speaker 1: Angie interview.
- 30:48Speaker 2: He talked about Chef, he talked about Sleepy, I think
- 30:50Speaker 2: he talked about Busy and there he talked about Ross
- 30:52Speaker 2: Wish trying to think well, but like he was always
- 30:55Speaker 2: about putting like people who he fuck went on, So
- 30:57Speaker 2: like I think that that's just unfortunate that we got
- 30:59Speaker 2: to a point where it's like, Okay, now we're just
- 31:00Speaker 2: gonna we're gonna throw this pop verse here. We're gona
- 31:02Speaker 2: tho this pop verse here, you know what I'm saying. Like,
- 31:04Speaker 2: I know there's one on ne Ego's album. I don't
- 31:06Speaker 2: know where that came from. Like, I think about things
- 31:09Speaker 2: like that, and that shit kind of sucks.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Tiger's got Hella versus, Oh pop versus.
- 31:14Speaker 3: I think he's got one or two out.
- 31:15Speaker 1: I'm like Tiger, he got the Sunshine one, the one
- 31:17Speaker 1: with him, and.
- 31:18Speaker 3: I feel like there's another one though on my trip
- 31:19Speaker 3: and now I'm thinking Tiger and him had a record together.
- 31:22Speaker 1: On West West Coast. Yeah, I liked West Coast.
- 31:25Speaker 3: That was cool.
- 31:26Speaker 2: But yeah, like you think about like I don't know,
- 31:28Speaker 2: I don't know if Sunshine was done before Pop passed
- 31:30Speaker 2: away or not. I'm not gonna I don't know the
- 31:31Speaker 2: story behind that record, but like if it was Franken's
- 31:33Speaker 2: signed together, it's.
- 31:34Speaker 3: Like, damn, Like they did a good job.
- 31:35Speaker 1: They did a good job of Franken signing that one together,
- 31:37Speaker 1: but it was kind of sad.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna ask you, like so this complex
- 31:43Speaker 3: list comes out right, Okay, uh this is this is
- 31:46Speaker 3: the headline. No, I'm just curious because like I feel
- 31:49Speaker 3: like you're very like to like you. I mean, I'm
- 31:53Speaker 3: be honest with you. I feel like you're the premier
- 31:55Speaker 3: freestyle platform now. I feel like you guys, what you
- 31:58Speaker 3: guys are doing is more important. Know what the Leakers do?
- 32:02Speaker 3: Flex is flex, you know, so flex is gonna get
- 32:04Speaker 3: like yeah, he legend regardless the Conway shit that just
- 32:07Speaker 3: happened was crazy. Like I mean, I still watch the
- 32:09Speaker 3: Black Thought one like once a week if.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Me are obviously Meek Mill and the Tory Lane's ones,
- 32:14Speaker 1: I always watch.
- 32:15Speaker 3: But I was gonna say for you, like, you know,
- 32:17Speaker 3: we do we do freestyles here. We drop like two
- 32:19Speaker 3: probably one or two a week. It just depends on
- 32:21Speaker 3: what happens here. But like you guys have really dug
- 32:23Speaker 3: your heels into the freestyle lane and it's it's been
- 32:26Speaker 3: dope to see because I feel like like you said,
- 32:29Speaker 3: like being in New York there is like you can't
- 32:34Speaker 3: you can't just be anybody and go see flex. You
- 32:37Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like, you gotta have a certain
- 32:39Speaker 3: it's gotta makes sense for him you know what I mean,
- 32:41Speaker 3: for you, you're giving people platforms that you just believe
- 32:44Speaker 3: in or that you're like, hey, I think this person's dope.
- 32:47Speaker 3: I think more people should have eyes on these on
- 32:49Speaker 3: this person. So do you when you see like a
- 32:53Speaker 3: list like that come out, do you feel like you
- 32:54Speaker 3: deserve more acknowledgment when it comes to certain shit like that?
- 32:57Speaker 3: Or you, I mean, you're still like a relatively new platform,
- 32:59Speaker 3: but like what your thoughts on that kind of shit?
- 33:01Speaker 2: I mean obviously, like you know, I'm like, first of all,
- 33:04Speaker 2: thank you for the for the for the common words,
- 33:06Speaker 2: and like also kind of just going off what you
- 33:07Speaker 2: said about giving people a chance, Like the one thing
- 33:09Speaker 2: I want to say about on the Radar is I like,
- 33:11Speaker 2: the reason why on the Radar is what it is
- 33:12Speaker 2: is because my goal for it is to be able
- 33:15Speaker 2: for you to have a meek mill or a little
- 33:17Speaker 2: baby on there. But then also, Lil homie from down
- 33:19Speaker 2: the block, you feel me because I feel like there's
- 33:21Speaker 2: no place where you marry all those things into one place.
- 33:24Speaker 2: That's just about the culture, about hip hop, about music
- 33:26Speaker 2: in general, right, But when I see things like that,
- 33:29Speaker 2: like of course, like I'm like, man, like you know
- 33:32Speaker 2: I was bummed out about it, but like I've been
- 33:34Speaker 2: the underdog for so long in my life and in
- 33:36Speaker 2: my career that like it doesn't phaze me because I know,
- 33:39Speaker 2: you know, the numbers are like like I don't like
- 33:42Speaker 2: to be the person like look at the numbers, but
- 33:43Speaker 2: the numbers are there. You feel me like we're doing
- 33:45Speaker 2: things that hasn't really been seen in a long time,
- 33:48Speaker 2: and hasn't you know, there is no platform since like
- 33:51Speaker 2: I feel like like a rap city that or like
- 33:53Speaker 2: one or six in part that's or TRL that's really
- 33:55Speaker 2: kind of brought like the up and coming and like
- 33:58Speaker 2: the Who's Hot at the same time, right, the fact
- 34:00Speaker 2: that I can go on my show and like Bro
- 34:04Speaker 2: from down the Block was there and as he's walking
- 34:06Speaker 2: out and Elie Choppa is walking in, like that's fire.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Right, you know what I'm saying, Like nobody's doing something
- 34:11Speaker 1: like that, or.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Like Sexy reds walking walking in as like this up
- 34:15Speaker 2: and coming R and B singer from Jerseys is leaving
- 34:18Speaker 2: like that's dope. So of course, like I see that
- 34:20Speaker 2: and I'm like, damn, like this is crazy, Like I
- 34:22Speaker 2: feel like we deserve the recognition. It was funny because
- 34:24Speaker 2: when that list came out that same night, I was
- 34:28Speaker 2: at like this the Veto event at like Legos and
- 34:31Speaker 2: uh and like then they put the complex posted like
- 34:33Speaker 2: the up next like list thing.
- 34:37Speaker 1: They're like, oh, hip Hop's next, like whatever.
- 34:39Speaker 2: I forgot what they called it, but it was just
- 34:40Speaker 2: like it was just like a social post and it
- 34:42Speaker 2: was like me, haking from OGM.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Don't call me white girl.
- 34:47Speaker 2: I'm trying to Well, there a few other people on
- 34:48Speaker 2: that list, but I'm like, all right, so I'm a
- 34:50Speaker 2: social post, you know what I'm saying. But I appreciate
- 34:52Speaker 2: all the recognition regardless because I know that like it's
- 34:54Speaker 2: gonna be there right one way or another.
- 34:56Speaker 3: But also like I just be getting tired of the
- 34:58Speaker 3: list too. We also, this shit doesn't really matter. It
- 35:00Speaker 3: doesn't like help. It's like like you said, check the
- 35:02Speaker 3: check the scoreboard, you know what I'm saying. Like, yeah,
- 35:04Speaker 3: like I had people hitting me like and I genuinely
- 35:07Speaker 3: just didn't care.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Yeah, how did you feel about that?
- 35:09Speaker 3: I didn't give a fuck, bro, Like I really didn't
- 35:10Speaker 3: expect to be on the list. Like we over here
- 35:12Speaker 3: in LA we are very independent operation. I don't care
- 35:16Speaker 3: about none of that shit, bro, like they try to
- 35:19Speaker 3: uh get me to like be angry on some who
- 35:22Speaker 3: show was on when they asked me about it, t
- 35:26Speaker 3: rel shit, I just did. I just like I have
- 35:30Speaker 3: no emotion, man, Like my whole thing towards it is
- 35:32Speaker 3: like you know, at the end of the day, like
- 35:33Speaker 3: I'm doing me. If people want to recognize it, it's cool.
- 35:35Speaker 3: If not, we're gonna be all right. Like yeah, that's
- 35:38Speaker 3: how I feel Shit's moving.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Were good because I feel like it's just like you know,
- 35:43Speaker 2: people love making these lists, right, and also it's.
- 35:47Speaker 3: A it's also that's why I'm surprised you in because
- 35:49Speaker 3: I mean list of Complex at East Coast by his place, right,
- 35:51Speaker 3: So I was really thinking, like, how's the fuck is
- 35:53Speaker 3: going on over everything? Like you've had more moments than
- 35:56Speaker 3: a lot of these motherfuckers, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 35:59Speaker 3: and you're doing it with the high integrity, you know
- 36:00Speaker 3: what I mean? Yeah, and Complex stirring up bullshit, you know.
- 36:03Speaker 2: Yeah, Complex showed us, has shown us mad love, Like
- 36:05Speaker 2: we just had two freestyles on like the top twenty
- 36:07Speaker 2: five verses of the year so far, and they've done
- 36:10Speaker 2: like other stuff with me before. So but I didn't
- 36:12Speaker 2: feel no way because of that, Like I wasn't I
- 36:13Speaker 2: didn't hit my man's that complex, Like, yo, bro, why
- 36:15Speaker 2: you ain't put me on I would never do that
- 36:17Speaker 2: because I don't. I don't think that's a you know,
- 36:18Speaker 2: that's an integrity thing. Like I would never handle business
- 36:21Speaker 2: like that or come out my neck at someone like
- 36:23Speaker 2: that because that's just not how I am. But you know,
- 36:25Speaker 2: at the end of day, it's like, you know, you
- 36:26Speaker 2: still are disappointed. You're like, damn, I wish I could
- 36:27Speaker 2: have been recognized by this. But it's like it's cool
- 36:30Speaker 2: because I just kind of turned all that fuel into motivation.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Like whenever they told me, oh, like you know you
- 36:35Speaker 2: won't be able to have this artist a right, cool,
- 36:37Speaker 2: I'll see you in a year, right, and like you know,
- 36:39Speaker 2: then we then they end up coming back around anyway
- 36:41Speaker 2: because now they're like okay, cool, or like, you know,
- 36:43Speaker 2: we'll have an artist who comes on the show and
- 36:45Speaker 2: we'll do an interview. They're like, I don't know if
- 36:46Speaker 2: I want a freestyle, and I'm like, I I'll see you,
- 36:49Speaker 2: and i'll see you in six months and then six
- 36:51Speaker 2: months later, yo.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Hey, let's stop the interview real quick to tell you
- 36:54Speaker 3: about our good folks at King Palm. That's right, man,
- 36:56Speaker 3: shout out to King Palm. We're talking about them. But
- 36:58Speaker 3: that organic, all right, that natural them leafs, all right,
- 37:03Speaker 3: there's no tobacco involved, and they're so smooth when you
- 37:06Speaker 3: smoke in them. I love King Poms, the only thing
- 37:08Speaker 3: I'm smoking at it now. If you go to your
- 37:10Speaker 3: local liquor store, you go to your local smoke shop,
- 37:13Speaker 3: you can get King Palms. Of course, seven eleven's got
- 37:16Speaker 3: the King Poms. And they have so many crazy flavors.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Like shout out to Sugar Sean who's from Phoenix, Arizona,
- 37:23Speaker 3: my hometown. He's got his own flavor. They just sent
- 37:25Speaker 3: us these. Now, what's dope about King Palm is that
- 37:28Speaker 3: they have the turping infused flavors. So at the end
- 37:34Speaker 3: of the tip of these pre rolls, right, you get
- 37:37Speaker 3: the leaf, you squeeze the tip, that's what she said,
- 37:42Speaker 3: and then you just get a burst of flavor. This
- 37:45Speaker 3: is that honey mango all right. Now, this is the
- 37:48Speaker 3: most important part. This is absolutely natural, tobacco free leafs,
- 37:55Speaker 3: the cleanest way to smoke, all right. Trust me when
- 37:57Speaker 3: I say, man, we love King Palm. Over here. So
- 37:59Speaker 3: many flavors. I mean, shout out to the grape, Shout
- 38:01Speaker 3: out to the honey mango, Shout out to the sugar
- 38:04Speaker 3: punch right here. You know what I'm saying. Look, if
- 38:06Speaker 3: you go to Kingpom dot com right now, you can
- 38:09Speaker 3: get hooked up with everything you need at fifty percent
- 38:12Speaker 3: off if you use the promo code bootleg or bootleg keV.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Try either one of those. I forget which one it is.
- 38:19Speaker 3: It's bootleg or it's bootleg keV.
- 38:21Speaker 1: You know what.
- 38:21Speaker 3: The correct promo code will be down below. Use the
- 38:24Speaker 3: one that's down here. Kingpom dot com. Get fifty percent
- 38:28Speaker 3: off right now. Shout out to king Pom. Also when
- 38:32Speaker 3: a shout out to our good folks at blue Chew Baby,
- 38:35Speaker 3: shout out to blue Choo. Now, this what's going on
- 38:37Speaker 3: with blue Choo? Man? Everybody keeps asking me this blue
- 38:39Speaker 3: Choo work. Yes, it works, but don't take my word
- 38:43Speaker 3: for it. You're gonna get a month for free when
- 38:46Speaker 3: you go to blue Choo dot com and you use
- 38:48Speaker 3: the promo code bootleg a month for free. Now, what
- 38:52Speaker 3: is blue cheo? Fellas? If you're dealing with the rectile dysfunction, Fellas,
- 38:55Speaker 3: if your dick is not getting as hard as you'd
- 38:56Speaker 3: like it to. Maybe for your wife. Oh, I don't know. Listen,
- 39:00Speaker 3: all you gotta do is go to blue Cheo dot

- 39:21Speaker 3: delivered to your door discretely, of course, discreetly, no doctor's appointments,

- 39:32Speaker 3: you in so you can tell her how your cock's
- 39:33Speaker 3: not working properly. It happens, fellas all right, bluehoo dot
- 39:37Speaker 3: com take my word for it. Also take their word
- 39:40Speaker 3: for it, because they're gonna give you a month supply
- 39:42Speaker 3: for free, just fight dollars shipping blue choo dot com
- 39:44Speaker 3: promo code Bootleg. Let's get back to the interview. Is
- 39:47Speaker 3: it hard to I was gonna say this because you'll
- 39:50Speaker 3: get freestyles from artists who traditionally don't do freestyles, right, Yeah,
- 39:53Speaker 3: So do they go there knowing they're gonna freestyle because
- 39:56Speaker 3: a lot of times we'll run into that where like
- 39:59Speaker 3: somebody will come to LA and they'll have like their
- 40:01Speaker 3: LA leakers shit ready. Yeah, and obviously the well I'm
- 40:05Speaker 3: vala leakers ain't a thing anymore, y'all, breaking news. They're
- 40:08Speaker 3: just incredible thing ready. And uh, you know, like we're
- 40:14Speaker 3: we're not like our brand isn't freestyle driven. We do freestyles, yeah,
- 40:18Speaker 3: but it's not like you know, we do both, you
- 40:21Speaker 3: know what I mean. I would say we're more known
- 40:23Speaker 3: for interviews, you know, of course, So like I got
- 40:26Speaker 3: to hit artists sometimes and be like, hey, I know
- 40:28Speaker 3: you come to LA, make sure you got the other
- 40:30Speaker 3: clip ready, you know what I mean, Like save me something,
- 40:33Speaker 3: you know what I mean. But but y'all, I feel
- 40:35Speaker 3: like now if people come to New York like they're
- 40:37Speaker 3: coming there to do your shit, yeah, I think you know,
- 40:41Speaker 3: even like because flex is a lot harder to get onto,
- 40:43Speaker 3: you know what I mean? Like, so like do you
- 40:45Speaker 3: do you guys have those conversations like hey, look just
- 40:47Speaker 3: just do something, man, if you like it, we'll use it.
- 40:49Speaker 1: If not we'll scrap it, Like hell yeah, we definitely
- 40:52Speaker 1: have those commos.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Like I also give artists like the opportunity like, look,
- 40:54Speaker 2: if you don't want to do a freestyle, like, let's
- 40:56Speaker 2: get a performance video out of you.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Ud. I know y'all do that, like you did the
- 40:59Speaker 3: Sexy Read performance.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Exactly yeah, which which one of the funniest things we
- 41:03Speaker 2: ever shot too. But like Annalie Choppa did a performance
- 41:06Speaker 2: with his dude Gino. It's two times four times. I'm
- 41:09Speaker 2: sorry if I say that wrong, Bro, I'm sorry. But
- 41:12Speaker 2: like he did a performance off the deluxe off of
- 41:14Speaker 2: Condomwood too, which is totally cool because it still went
- 41:16Speaker 2: crazy regardless because at the end the day, not a
- 41:18Speaker 2: lot of people knew that song. So a lot of
- 41:19Speaker 2: people in the comments like, oh, this is a fire
- 41:21Speaker 2: freestyles far even though it's people don't know how to
- 41:23Speaker 2: read too. By the way, it's like it says performance
- 41:25Speaker 2: at the bottom, but regardless, but I just try to
- 41:27Speaker 2: get something out of that. I'm like, look, if you
- 41:28Speaker 2: don't like it, maybe come do a lip sync of
- 41:30Speaker 2: like a song that you have on the project, like
- 41:31Speaker 2: like something, let's just do something, you know what I'm saying.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Because I like maximizing content, Like you're there, you're there
- 41:36Speaker 2: for an hour, it's like a twenty thirty minute interview
- 41:39Speaker 2: sometimes depending how talkative you are. And then you know,
- 41:41Speaker 2: then if you do a lip sync, it takes like
- 41:43Speaker 2: ten minutes not even to get that done. But you know,
- 41:46Speaker 2: most people already know. Like if but if I had
- 41:48Speaker 2: a dollar, bro, for like how many freestyles we haven't
- 41:51Speaker 2: released too or like you know, haven't come out, like
- 41:54Speaker 2: you know, i'd be rich by now.
- 41:55Speaker 3: What is? Don't tell me who did it? But what
- 41:58Speaker 3: was the because we've had some very long freestyle sessions
- 42:02Speaker 3: where motherfuckers will take like thirty takes. Oh yeah, okay, okay,
- 42:05Speaker 3: where it's like crazy, like I think there was like
- 42:07Speaker 3: one time we had someone who was in here for
- 42:09Speaker 3: like an hour and I literally was like, look, man,
- 42:11Speaker 3: I got shit to do, so this is your final
- 42:14Speaker 3: go and they got it. What was the longest you
- 42:18Speaker 3: had to wait for someone to nail their ship?
- 42:20Speaker 1: Why are you laughing?
- 42:21Speaker 2: Bro?
- 42:22Speaker 1: I hear you in the back. No, I'm not gonna
- 42:25Speaker 1: say no name. I'm not gonna don't say the name.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Don't say that.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Yeah you know me, I'm not gonna do that, but
- 42:29Speaker 2: it was actually pretty It was actually within the last
- 42:31Speaker 2: six months. There was one that we stopped laughing. Yo,
- 42:35Speaker 2: we were there a month ago, maybe I know I
- 42:38Speaker 2: was more than a month ago. We were there at
- 42:39Speaker 2: nine pm.
- 42:41Speaker 3: When'd you leave? I left it like twelve Jesus she went,
- 42:48Speaker 3: she went, the gonna laugh still what but like I'm
- 42:52Speaker 3: gonna say that that's the case. You gotta be like, Yo,
- 42:54Speaker 3: if we get this right, it's gonna do well for us. Yeah.
- 42:56Speaker 1: No, there's you know that happens a lot though.
- 42:58Speaker 2: It's like me and me and like look at each
- 43:01Speaker 2: other and like I like, you know, we both had
- 43:03Speaker 2: that like look on our FACEO, like we want to
- 43:04Speaker 2: go home, but like we both like are like very
- 43:06Speaker 2: well aware that's like, look, if we get this done,
- 43:09Speaker 2: this shit is gonna go.
- 43:10Speaker 1: And if they tell us they don't want it out,
- 43:12Speaker 1: they're never coming back. You know what I'm saying.
- 43:14Speaker 3: We sit spent three hours with your ass.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Like, Nah, we've had that.
- 43:17Speaker 2: That's happened a lot too us, Like where artists have
- 43:19Speaker 2: like come on and then they'll just be like they'll
- 43:22Speaker 2: do their shit right and like let's say we drop
- 43:24Speaker 2: it like a month or two later whatever it is right,
- 43:26Speaker 2: and then they'll be like, oh, I don't want I
- 43:28Speaker 2: don't like this anymore. And then they're like, I want
- 43:30Speaker 2: to come redo it. I'm like no, like like yeah,
- 43:34Speaker 2: because it's like I'm like, if you got it, you
- 43:36Speaker 2: don't have to wait.
- 43:37Speaker 3: Like somebody asked to redo an interview after it was
- 43:39Speaker 3: like a two hour long interview, and yeah, I don't
- 43:42Speaker 3: like the way it came off in that. Let me
- 43:43Speaker 3: redo that.
- 43:44Speaker 1: A two hour long interview is crazy, by the way,
- 43:46Speaker 1: for them to ask to redo it.
- 43:48Speaker 3: It's someone that we're very close friends with. Its bold.
- 43:56Speaker 2: I can't wait for you to tell me after. But
- 43:57Speaker 2: you let them, you would you let people come back
- 43:59Speaker 2: after that, you'd be like, nah, don't.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Come back no more.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Freddy Gives is one of my best friends.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Oh it's Freddy Gis.
- 44:03Speaker 3: We did an interview and he was like, hey, man,
- 44:05Speaker 3: can we just redo the whole hitter? And I was like, bro,
- 44:08Speaker 3: did you drop it? I was like I had to
- 44:10Speaker 3: cut out so much and I get it. He was
- 44:12Speaker 3: in a weird place, like and he just didn't want
- 44:14Speaker 3: certain shit in there by the time. No, it wasn't
- 44:16Speaker 3: the one when we was drunk.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, now do you cut up your interviews a
- 44:20Speaker 1: lot like that?
- 44:21Speaker 3: I give a like artist opportunity, like you know, like
- 44:24Speaker 3: you said, like, I don't want to like make people
- 44:26Speaker 3: uncomfortable coming over here. So if like there's an artist
- 44:29Speaker 3: that like comes on the show and they're like, hey,
- 44:31Speaker 3: I said this and you take that out, I don't care,
- 44:34Speaker 3: Like I'm not going to be like nah fuck that,
- 44:36Speaker 3: you know, like the only time that ever happened was
- 44:39Speaker 3: we had dropped a little Pump interview.
- 44:40Speaker 1: H and y'all, Chuckley tells me everything I need to
- 44:45Speaker 1: know about this interview.
- 44:46Speaker 3: Yeah, and look, well he tried to like his little
- 44:49Speaker 3: weeny ass white boy manager. I was like, bro, you
- 44:52Speaker 3: know where the fuck we at, bro come through if
- 44:54Speaker 3: you want to talk that crazy shit. Like, So what
- 44:56Speaker 3: happened was the interview goes up. They didn't like to
- 44:59Speaker 3: tie because I put.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Oh, they never liked the time. They never liked the
- 45:03Speaker 1: time I put.
- 45:03Speaker 3: I put like little Pump on New Music.
- 45:07Speaker 2: H J.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Cole predicting his fall off or no, no, I didn't
- 45:10Speaker 3: say his fall off his career. If if J Cole
- 45:13Speaker 3: predicted his career something like, it wasn't even like crazy
- 45:16Speaker 3: like flavoring right, But they didn't like the fact Jay
- 45:18Speaker 3: Cole was mentioned in the in the title, so I
- 45:20Speaker 3: even so they hit me. And then they had like
- 45:23Speaker 3: his other manager hit me, who like works I forget
- 45:26Speaker 3: what label she works at, but she works with Doug,
- 45:27Speaker 3: she works with a lot of people. She's like well
- 45:28Speaker 3: respected in the industry. So I took it out of
- 45:30Speaker 3: the title, right, And then then they had hit me
- 45:33Speaker 3: and they were like because we put the clip up,
- 45:35Speaker 3: because we put clips up right, like yo. His guy
- 45:38Speaker 3: hit me like, yo, you gotta take that shit down.
- 45:40Speaker 3: And I was like, or what, it's already up? Like
- 45:43Speaker 3: what you mean? I gotta take it down. Tell me
- 45:45Speaker 3: what's gonna happen if I don't take it down, bro?
- 45:47Speaker 3: Like what do you? What the fuck are you gonna do?
- 45:49Speaker 2: Bro?
- 45:49Speaker 3: You see you come back to the studio. We're here
- 45:51Speaker 3: all day, you know what I mean? And uh, little
- 45:55Speaker 3: Pump posted my phone number on his story and said
- 45:57Speaker 3: call me. My phone was blowing the fuck up for like,
- 46:02Speaker 3: oh oh my god, oh my yeah, it was hilarious.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 46:09Speaker 1: So you're changing number obviously?
- 46:10Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean I I just was like two phones, right,
- 46:14Speaker 3: So I just turned that one off. I was driving
- 46:17Speaker 3: to Mexico at the time, so I just turned it
- 46:18Speaker 3: off and I had I had all kinds of fucking
- 46:21Speaker 3: like weird ass like pasty white bitches from Germany sending
- 46:24Speaker 3: me nudes and ship on WhatsApp. Like it was fucking weird.
- 46:26Speaker 3: What the hell? It was super weird. But but you
- 46:29Speaker 3: have the interview obviously, Fuck yeah, it's on there, right
- 46:31Speaker 3: and go run it up.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Yeah, keep keep watching that, I guess right, yeah, And
- 46:35Speaker 1: it was like a.
- 46:35Speaker 3: Fair interviewed a little pump. I was like giving him
- 46:37Speaker 3: props and ship. I see.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I've watched some of the clips too, Like it didn't
- 46:40Speaker 1: even seem like it was like it is what it is.
- 46:42Speaker 3: It was funny though.
- 46:42Speaker 1: It wasn't like a messy interview.
- 46:44Speaker 3: It wasn't.
- 46:44Speaker 1: It was very just a genuine conversation about where he's at.
- 46:47Speaker 3: And like the whole But you know what, people are delusional.
- 46:50Speaker 1: People are extremely delusional.
- 46:51Speaker 3: So it's like, you know, if he'd have shown some
- 46:53Speaker 3: sort of like humility and like like you know, self
- 46:56Speaker 3: awareness in that interview, I feel like people would have
- 46:58Speaker 3: been like, oh, a little pump, you know, mature a little.
- 47:00Speaker 3: But he was like I'm rich when I was like,
- 47:04Speaker 3: did J Cole, you know, looking back at y'all's interview,
- 47:07Speaker 3: when y'all's interaction, do you think he predicted anything that
- 47:09Speaker 3: ended up happening with your career. He's just like, I
- 47:11Speaker 3: just know I'm rich. And I was like, all right, bro,
- 47:13Speaker 3: well well J Cole.
- 47:15Speaker 1: J Cole is also very rich.
- 47:16Speaker 3: Shout out to Ja Cole, the co owner of the Hornets.
- 47:18Speaker 3: God damn it, literally co owner of the Hornets.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Now that shit is crazy to me. I love that
- 47:23Speaker 1: from you.
- 47:23Speaker 3: Guys have such a high output in terms of just
- 47:25Speaker 3: like you guys do a lot, right, Yeah? How many?
- 47:28Speaker 3: How many things a week do you feel you would?
- 47:30Speaker 3: You say you film?
- 47:31Speaker 2: I mean it could arrange for anywhere, like from fifteen
- 47:33Speaker 2: to twenty. I feel like, you know what I'm saying, Uh,
- 47:36Speaker 2: depending on the week that we're having. Like when we're
- 47:38Speaker 2: on tour, we film a lot because we're doing only
- 47:39Speaker 2: freestyles out.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Right, so everybody pull up, yeah, pull up, shoot.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Bing bang boom, Like today I'll give you. I'll tell
- 47:44Speaker 1: you what we're doing today.
- 47:44Speaker 3: We're doing.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Give me the list, John, We're doing, We're doing what
- 47:48Speaker 2: he's John calls at the California Love site but that's
- 47:51Speaker 2: what we're calling it.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Right. So we got a bunch of artists pulling up
- 47:53Speaker 1: to you today. Here, give me the list.
- 47:55Speaker 3: This is all Cali artists.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Yeah, so we have Reason, we have kembe X, we
- 47:59Speaker 1: got Simba.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we got Jason Cash, we got pac Man,
- 48:03Speaker 2: the Gunman, Incognita, Kayla James, and as the last Stone
- 48:08Speaker 2: confirmed today. Just now, Oh, Jaystone's gonna be in the site.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Make sure he's on time again.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Make sure you're you know, googling the politics there.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Oh, the politics is messing on that one. No, no, no, no, no,
- 48:21Speaker 1: they don't know about each other.
- 48:22Speaker 3: I'm not saying Stone. Oh, like, if you ever come
- 48:24Speaker 3: to Cali and you're gonna have like thirty rappers in
- 48:26Speaker 3: the building at the same time, just make sure everybody
- 48:28Speaker 3: knows about each other before that happens. Oh yeah, I'm
- 48:31Speaker 3: not saying anybody on that list you just said. I'm
- 48:34Speaker 3: not applying that to them because they're all very mature,
- 48:36Speaker 3: great dudes, you know, Yeah, but yeah, not just you know,
- 48:40Speaker 3: La can get tricky.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Oh I know, yeah, I feel that was the one
- 48:42Speaker 2: thing is like I'm like, I can't wear a Yankee
- 48:44Speaker 2: hat out here.
- 48:45Speaker 3: Yeah, you can I'm just I mean, you can wear
- 48:48Speaker 3: a Yankee hat, you just can't go to certain places
- 48:52Speaker 3: wherever you're at, you're probably fine.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Don't tell me that, bro, I didn't pack no Yankee
- 48:59Speaker 1: finish the play awards.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Like you're find like in Hollywood, you're finding the valley
- 49:05Speaker 3: you just can't go to, like South Central, you really can't.
- 49:08Speaker 3: Just there's like a bubble, the like I'm in town bubble.
- 49:12Speaker 3: You know, I'm in town bubble and you'll be fine.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Well, he got pressed by a valet once, right, he
- 49:16Speaker 1: got pressed by a valet once. What color was that.
- 49:21Speaker 3: Red yet? Yeah, like the navy blue one by the stadium.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Which stadium? Oh yeah, I mean that makes sense. Okay,
- 49:33Speaker 3: that's downtown.
- 49:33Speaker 1: So that that's how there you goes. That's how we
- 49:35Speaker 1: messed up.
- 49:35Speaker 3: Yeah, like I would say, Hollywood to the valley, you know, Melrose,
- 49:40Speaker 3: Beverly Hills, Hollywood, you'll be good West Hollywood. But yeah, yeah,
- 49:44Speaker 3: once you started getting to that downtown.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, like I feel like that's only that's
- 49:49Speaker 2: that's the only downside that I've that I thought out here.
- 49:51Speaker 3: But that's the sip of Also, if you were to
- 49:55Speaker 3: the rock Nation is a great choice because you can't
- 49:56Speaker 3: wear any hat out here. I think there's two hats
- 50:00Speaker 3: that are safe, but every other hat is something. But
- 50:04Speaker 3: I'm a hat guy, right, so I don't give a fuck.
- 50:07Speaker 3: I just be you know, hey, man, where are you from?
- 50:10Speaker 1: Now?
- 50:10Speaker 3: From here? Buddy? What's up? I've never you know? You know,
- 50:15Speaker 3: I did get I got pressed recently, but it was
- 50:17Speaker 3: it wasn't even like, uh yeah, I got pressed recently,
- 50:21Speaker 3: very weird set of circumstances. But it wasn't because of
- 50:24Speaker 3: the hat I was wearing. It was because I I
- 50:26Speaker 3: was trying to find a place to piss and I
- 50:27Speaker 3: walked down the wrong cult to sack.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Now that that no bathroom nearby? Where you have no
- 50:34Speaker 1: bathroom nere is mean, it's like where do I go?
- 50:37Speaker 3: Yeah? So what like cause again, like I said, you
- 50:39Speaker 3: guys have so much output? How big is the team? Like,
- 50:43Speaker 3: like how many people you got on the squad that
- 50:45Speaker 3: is like helping push everything out?
- 50:46Speaker 1: So we got Rob he's like the main shooter editor.
- 50:48Speaker 1: We got John.
- 50:49Speaker 2: He runs the record label, also does like talent relations, Toby,
- 50:53Speaker 2: talent relation and sales.
- 50:54Speaker 3: She's a She's a monster, she's the sales Yeah, Brandy
- 50:59Speaker 3: like hook you up at the Puma deal or yeah, yeah, she's.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Been bringing a lot of that. We got some we
- 51:03Speaker 2: got a lot of dope stuff on the way with that.
- 51:05Speaker 2: We got Calvin who does pictures. We got JV who
- 51:09Speaker 2: is kind of like our he does a little bit
- 51:10Speaker 2: of everything like interning wise.
- 51:12Speaker 1: And then we just brought my young guy right here.
- 51:14Speaker 3: JC.
- 51:15Speaker 1: We met him at New Orleans last week. He's from Orleans,
- 51:20Speaker 1: An so.
- 51:23Speaker 3: You know, you know, and you meet him at the
- 51:25Speaker 3: Rop forty unite.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Things, Yeah, yeah, pretty much. And and he's and he's dope,
- 51:28Speaker 2: he's good, he works hard. So we're like fucking like,
- 51:31Speaker 2: we're going from Nola to LA. Let's bring him to
- 51:32Speaker 2: La with us, and you know, let's see what he
- 51:34Speaker 2: could do. So we have like about like a five
- 51:35Speaker 2: person team.
- 51:36Speaker 3: How many you did Atlanta, you did New Orleans, you're
- 51:39Speaker 3: in LA. How many cities are you doing on the
- 51:41Speaker 3: tour thing we've done?
- 51:42Speaker 1: Like we're doing like ten.
- 51:43Speaker 2: But it's definitely gonna keep just going up because like
- 51:45Speaker 2: I feel like what I wanted for on the radar
- 51:47Speaker 2: right because we came up under the New York stuff
- 51:49Speaker 2: and obviously I feel like for me at least I
- 51:51Speaker 2: feel like I've done like almost pretty much everything I've
- 51:54Speaker 2: wanted to do in New York. Right, I'm always going
- 51:56Speaker 2: to be back in New York, always gonna do upcoming
- 51:57Speaker 2: New York, New York artists, Cause's where I'm from, that's home.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Like my vision for this show is like, I want
- 52:02Speaker 2: to be the biggest music platform in the world.
- 52:03Speaker 3: You feel me.
- 52:04Speaker 2: So we're doing We're We're also doing Houston, Detroit, We're
- 52:08Speaker 2: doing the Bay, We're doing Chicago, We're doing DC, We're
- 52:11Speaker 2: doing Miami, We're.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Doing Charlotte, North Carolina. What else am I missing? I
- 52:16Speaker 1: think that's really That's pretty much it.
- 52:18Speaker 2: And then and then I think we're gonna work with
- 52:19Speaker 2: Sleazy World go to bring to go to Kansas, Yeah,
- 52:22Speaker 2: because he wants to bring us out to Kansas, which
- 52:24Speaker 2: is dope. Might go to Ohio at some point, and
- 52:27Speaker 2: then next year we want to go We're gonna go
- 52:29Speaker 2: to Montreal. We want to go to Toronto, we want
- 52:31Speaker 2: to go to Yep, we want to go do Ghana, Nigeria.
- 52:35Speaker 1: We want to do the UK. We want to do London, Spain, France, Italy, Germany.
- 52:39Speaker 3: So I want to do in the DJ set thing
- 52:41Speaker 3: now right.
- 52:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I love house music too, like, so we kind
- 52:44Speaker 2: of are also using that as like a way to
- 52:46Speaker 2: pivot and kind of enter in other lanes of music too,
- 52:50Speaker 2: because we have hip hop, we have R and B,
- 52:51Speaker 2: we got some Spanish music that we've been really pushing
- 52:54Speaker 2: out lately. And but I want to also, like I said,
- 52:57Speaker 2: I wanted to be the biggest music platform in the world.
- 52:59Speaker 2: So I'm deaf trying to like do DJs as to
- 53:01Speaker 2: kind of like get that European audience too, because they're
- 53:04Speaker 2: really into that.
- 53:05Speaker 3: You got to go to London, man, I know, that's what.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's the goal. That's the goal.
- 53:08Speaker 3: You know.
- 53:08Speaker 2: We've had like AJ, Tracy Digady, Unknown T gigs, like
- 53:12Speaker 2: it's the London Trip is like the London Trip is
- 53:14Speaker 2: just gonna be like me going back to New York.
- 53:16Speaker 2: I feel like it's just like we're just gonna run
- 53:17Speaker 2: sh it up out there. And I love the UK culture,
- 53:19Speaker 2: like the fact that Central C was able to be
- 53:21Speaker 2: the first hard first UK artist to do the double
- 53:24Speaker 2: XL cover as far as I'm.
- 53:26Speaker 3: Aware, Yeah, I think I mean one Savage that's a
- 53:30Speaker 3: good one.
- 53:31Speaker 1: That's a good one.
- 53:32Speaker 2: But but yeah, like I love the UK right now,
- 53:35Speaker 2: and I think the UK like UK artists are like
- 53:38Speaker 2: really like they're they're bodying a lot of like.
- 53:41Speaker 3: The American art agree. I love that central Ce Dave
- 53:44Speaker 3: oh I got one.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Of the best projects of the year so far.
- 53:46Speaker 2: We had this conversation I think on uh, I think
- 53:49Speaker 2: on round table, people are like, oh, why do we
- 53:51Speaker 2: feel like male hip hop artists are like doing it
- 53:53Speaker 2: right now? And I'm like, I'm just like, I feel
- 53:56Speaker 2: like the music just isn't translating as much to audiences
- 53:59Speaker 2: as well as it did before because a lot of
- 54:01Speaker 2: it maybe is like the gangster rap part of it.
- 54:03Speaker 2: I don't know, but I feel like UK artists take
- 54:06Speaker 2: their craft very seriously, like I think they take their
- 54:09Speaker 2: craft maybe more seriously sometimes an American artists, at least
- 54:12Speaker 2: upcoming ones.
- 54:12Speaker 3: I feel like also people don't give the like the
- 54:15Speaker 3: UK drill scene is kind of what kept that shit alive,
- 54:18Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. Yeah, I made the New
- 54:20Speaker 3: York shit kind of I feel like because it was
- 54:22Speaker 3: like Chicago and then UK and then we got this Brooklyn,
- 54:25Speaker 3: New York. Yeah, version of the of the sub genre
- 54:29Speaker 3: if you will. All right, Well, look man, you got
- 54:31Speaker 3: anything else coming up? Man, We got the tour you
- 54:34Speaker 3: guys signed an artist.
- 54:35Speaker 1: We're working on it.
- 54:36Speaker 2: We're working on We got the On the Radar records
- 54:38Speaker 2: right now. Right now, we're doing like projects. So I
- 54:40Speaker 2: got a bunch of projects that we got coming out
- 54:42Speaker 2: under on the Radar. We got a lot of singles.
- 54:44Speaker 2: We got a uh huh, Yeah, we got our first
- 54:47Speaker 2: afrobeat single that maybe out by the time Y'll see this.
- 54:51Speaker 2: With this girl Foddy, she's from the air, incredible, incredible talent.
- 54:55Speaker 2: We've worked with her for a little bit while we
- 54:56Speaker 2: went viral with her over in Africa like a year
- 54:58Speaker 2: ago with one of her performances on my show. So
- 55:01Speaker 2: we got that, got a lot of singles on the
- 55:03Speaker 2: way I'm trying to but also we have coming up.
- 55:05Speaker 2: We were coming Yeah, I sent a bunch of EPs,
- 55:08Speaker 2: were going to different cities and yeah, man, I'm just
- 55:10Speaker 2: I'm really just trying to bring on the Radar and
- 55:12Speaker 2: make on the Radar the biggest and best music platform
- 55:14Speaker 2: that's this world has ever seen. I've seen, like you know,
- 55:16Speaker 2: how Americans, how we look at one O six in
- 55:18Speaker 2: Park and Rahap City and how we think about that
- 55:21Speaker 2: and how we idolize those platforms, like I wanted to
- 55:23Speaker 2: be thought.
- 55:24Speaker 1: I want on the radar, be thought about that. But
- 55:25Speaker 1: like around the world.
- 55:26Speaker 3: Also because the TV shit don't matter no more. So
- 55:28Speaker 3: it's like, yeah, it's no one cares. Yeah TV.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Yeah, so I want YouTube's TV. Bro, YouTube is TV.
- 55:34Speaker 2: So if you're not on YouTube, you know what I'm saying.
- 55:36Speaker 2: But I wanted, I want it to be the biggest
- 55:37Speaker 2: music platform in the world. So that's like, that's an
- 55:38Speaker 2: angle for me.
- 55:39Speaker 3: Well ship being. Congrats brother, you're on your way, man,
