- 1:45Speaker 4: Lots to get to this morning. Four traffic has been
- 1:48Speaker 4: on everybody's mind. Has been a very slow go really
- 1:51Speaker 4: once you get to Montrose on sixty four East coming
- 1:54Speaker 4: in to Charleston. It's been that way for a couple
- 1:55Speaker 4: of weeks. But you add on to that an accident
- 1:58Speaker 4: least I think I heard Chris a least a two
- 2:00Speaker 4: car accident reported earlier this morning. So it's it's just
- 2:05Speaker 4: been a mess getting into the capital city this morning.
- 2:08Speaker 4: They say that that particular project, though, is supposed to
- 2:11Speaker 4: wrap up I think in the next week or two.
- 2:14Speaker 4: So hopefully it will, because I know I've missed all
- 2:18Speaker 4: that this morning, thankfully, but I did get into Laid
- 2:20Speaker 4: a little bit coming into town. And you know, if
- 2:23Speaker 4: you see the sign, I'm not going to start preaching here,
- 2:26Speaker 4: but if you see the sign that says please merge,
- 2:28Speaker 4: and it's three miles down the road, you don't necessarily
- 2:31Speaker 4: have to merge then, but at least start making plans
- 2:34Speaker 4: for it. Make plans for it. Some of these problems
- 2:38Speaker 4: could be alleviated.
- 2:39Speaker 6: All right.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Coming up a little bit later on the show, there
- 2:42Speaker 4: was a company with ties to the Charleston area. This
- 2:44Speaker 4: instituting a very unique recycling program. But it's not just
- 2:47Speaker 4: about the recycling. It has to do with the recovery community.
- 2:50Speaker 4: We're going to talk about that, plus later on the show,
- 2:54Speaker 4: we're going to be joined by Knawa County Prosecuting Attorney
- 2:56Speaker 4: Deb Rosnik. Yesterday in a Canawac County courtroom in front
- 2:59Speaker 4: of Joe Mary Claire Akers, one of the two fourteen
- 3:03Speaker 4: year olds charged in the shooting death of the tobacco
- 3:07Speaker 4: store clerk back in January on the north side of Charleston.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Young man, at fourteen, pled guilty and is now facing
- 3:13Speaker 4: life in prison, obviously being tried as an adult, could
- 3:17Speaker 4: get out after fifteen years with probation. We're talking. It's
- 3:20Speaker 4: a tough, tough story all around. We're going to talk
- 3:22Speaker 4: to Knaw County Prosecutor Deb Rusnick about that. Plus, of course,
- 3:25Speaker 4: you know, tonight is the first and probably only presidential
- 3:28Speaker 4: debate between former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
- 3:32Speaker 4: That coming from Philadelphia. Programming Note will have coverage of
- 3:35Speaker 4: the debate tonight via the ABC Radio network from Philly
- 3:38Speaker 4: starting at eight pm. We'll get into all that puts
- 3:40Speaker 4: your calls and Texter, welcome to I want to talk
- 3:42Speaker 4: about some ribs though. Aaron Wood from Quantum Sports, Quantum
- 3:45Speaker 4: Party Rentals, the Quantum Family, lead sponsors and promoters of
- 3:49Speaker 4: rib Fest, which runs Thursday through Sunday and had at
- 3:51Speaker 4: Riverfront Park, joins us. Aaron, good morning, welcome to the show,
- 3:54Speaker 4: Thank you, good morning to you. Do I smell the
- 3:56Speaker 4: barbecue sauce yet? Or is that just in my mind?
- 3:58Speaker 4: Is it just psychosomatic.
- 4:00Speaker 7: No, it's probably coming off of me because we had
- 4:01Speaker 7: Ripcston Huntington last week and I am smoked.
- 4:06Speaker 4: So this is this the first year that you've done
- 4:08Speaker 4: rib Fest like two weekends in a row like that,
- 4:10Speaker 4: like you had in Huntingson last week and you're in
- 4:12Speaker 4: Charleston this weekend? Yes, first year? Is that harder? Is
- 4:15Speaker 4: it easier? It's it's pretty hard.
- 4:18Speaker 7: You know, two weeks in a road to a four
- 4:20Speaker 7: day event is a little mind boggling.
- 4:22Speaker 4: How did Huntington go?
- 4:24Speaker 7: Huntington was good. We had about eight thousand people show up.
- 4:26Speaker 7: I had beautiful weather. Could not believe how good the
- 4:29Speaker 7: weather was. Great setup, you know, everybody in Huntington was
- 4:32Speaker 7: very What.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Did you have it in Huntingson again? Hairs hair Forriver
- 4:35Speaker 4: from Vice? That's what I thought. And now you're going
- 4:37Speaker 4: to be in Charleston Thursday through Sunday. Had had at Riverfront Park.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Of course, most of our stations are going to be
- 4:42Speaker 4: there at some point. I know I'm supposed to be
- 4:44Speaker 4: down I think Saturday hanging out with animal in nine
- 4:46Speaker 4: eight seven a mountain, But we're all going to be there.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Steve Bishop from being one hundred and rob real we're
- 4:50Speaker 4: all going to be making an appearance at some point
- 4:53Speaker 4: and rib vendors are we're talking about some national folks
- 4:56Speaker 4: coming in here for this.
- 4:57Speaker 7: Yeah, we're talking about some award winning lipsmacking ribs. These
- 5:01Speaker 7: guys are from all over the country. We've got Texas,
- 5:03Speaker 7: North Carolina, Canada, Ohio, Pennsylvania. These guys are coming all
- 5:08Speaker 7: over the United States to bring their ribs to Charleston,
- 5:10Speaker 7: West Virginia.
- 5:11Speaker 4: And I do want to mention this because I heard
- 5:14Speaker 4: the interview that you did with Steve on the Mountain
- 5:16Speaker 4: earlier this morning, and we do want to make sure
- 5:17Speaker 4: we'll get into all the hours and pricing and everything momentarily.
- 5:20Speaker 4: But I do want to make sure people realize that
- 5:22Speaker 4: you are going to be open for lunch on Thursday
- 5:24Speaker 4: and Friday, so people will you know, if you just
- 5:26Speaker 4: want a little break from the normal thing that you
- 5:29Speaker 4: have in charleson which we got great restaurants in Charleston,
- 5:31Speaker 4: they'll get me wrong, but maybe if you want a
- 5:32Speaker 4: little bit of break from maybe some of the fast
- 5:34Speaker 4: food places or whatever, you can come on come down
- 5:37Speaker 4: there and grab yourself from lunch and head back to
- 5:39Speaker 4: the office.
- 5:39Speaker 7: Absolutely, we'll open at eleven o'clock for lunch. Yeah, So
- 5:42Speaker 7: how does the pricing work. Well, you know, when you
- 5:45Speaker 7: get to each vendor, they have their own pricing. There's
- 5:48Speaker 7: no cost to enter. Okay, you can choose to get
- 5:50Speaker 7: an eleven dollars taster, you know, from each vender, or
- 5:54Speaker 7: you can choose to get a full rack of ribs
- 5:57Speaker 7: with two sides from each vender, you know, and those
- 5:59Speaker 7: range which thirty five and forty dollars for a full rack.
- 6:03Speaker 4: And there's a lot more Aaron than just ribs because
- 6:05Speaker 4: we've got a lot of other activities, great music and whatnot.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Give us some of the other stuff that's going on.
- 6:10Speaker 7: We've got plenty of different types of food. The rivers
- 6:12Speaker 7: also have chickens, sausage, brisket. You know, it's just not
- 6:16Speaker 7: ribs Entertainment. Thursday night it's going to be Country Night
- 6:19Speaker 7: with Josh Pantry opening and Chase Mitchell as the headliner.
- 6:23Speaker 7: Thursday Friday will be opening the Esquires along with the
- 6:28Speaker 7: Motown Seven bringing some soul music to Charleston on Friday night.
- 6:31Speaker 7: And then Saturday we're going to rock it out. We're
- 6:34Speaker 7: gonna open with Bent Whiskey and then of course everybody
- 6:37Speaker 7: loves Hair Supply.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Yes, the official party band of our sister station nine
- 6:42Speaker 4: eight seven of the Mountain Wild wonderful classic rock. And
- 6:44Speaker 4: I happen to know those guys very well. Delan Vidovich
- 6:47Speaker 4: and Phil and those guys well, I just gave their
- 6:49Speaker 4: real names. They kind of undergo a chain when they
- 6:54Speaker 4: go on stage. They all have they all have alter egos.
- 6:56Speaker 4: But if you like the good time party music of
- 6:59Speaker 4: the nineteen eighty I mean I'm talking def Leppard, I'm
- 7:01Speaker 4: talking you know, Motley Crue and stuff like that, these
- 7:04Speaker 4: guys go full on and it's a full visual assault
- 7:07Speaker 4: as well. With Hair Supply. Oh absolutely, I love watching
- 7:09Speaker 4: those guys. I mean they're fantastic, they really, they got
- 7:12Speaker 4: that niche and they just took off with it and
- 7:14Speaker 4: they're they're they're doing some great things again. They're going
- 7:17Speaker 4: to be there and all this other great music. And Aaron,
- 7:20Speaker 4: I know the sponsors are such a huge part of this.
- 7:22Speaker 4: I know our company WVRC Media, Charleson's a big part
- 7:25Speaker 4: of it. But don't give you an opportunity if you
- 7:26Speaker 4: want to throw out some of your sponsors. Well, because
- 7:28Speaker 4: without the sponsors, it doesn't happen.
- 7:30Speaker 7: Right right. You know, Gomart has been a big sponsor
- 7:33Speaker 7: of us, Greylock Energy. Our presenting sponsors are my own company,
- 7:38Speaker 7: Quantum Party Rentals, Quantum Sports. W SEZ Channel three has
- 7:43Speaker 7: been a huge partner this year. You know, they're running
- 7:45Speaker 7: tons of commercials for us. So we're excited to have
- 7:48Speaker 7: the support of the city of Charleston. It's it's just
- 7:52Speaker 7: been great. Also, Kennall County came on board and helped
- 7:55Speaker 7: us out with some funds this year to help market
- 7:57Speaker 7: and make the facility the festival well even better.
- 8:01Speaker 4: And it's always I mean this has gone on, you know,
- 8:03Speaker 4: several different incarnations of this over the years. I know
- 8:06Speaker 4: it was a Shawnee for a while, and now it's
- 8:07Speaker 4: at Hadad Riverfront Park. It's a great, great setting have
- 8:11Speaker 4: it and Hadad Riverfront Park. What went into that decision
- 8:13Speaker 4: to have it there.
- 8:14Speaker 7: Well, it's really the only place in Charleston that you
- 8:17Speaker 7: can have a great festival. Yeah, you know, the setting
- 8:19Speaker 7: on the river, the stage, you know, it's just it's beautiful.
- 8:23Speaker 7: And you know, I grew up here in Charleston and
- 8:25Speaker 7: I'm a Charleston boy, and you know, I want to
- 8:28Speaker 7: do something special for the residents of Charleston and the
- 8:31Speaker 7: families of Charleston, and you know this is this is it.
- 8:34Speaker 4: It's got to be there talking again with Aaron. What
- 8:37Speaker 4: about Riverfest which runs Thursday through Sunday at Hadad Riverfront
- 8:41Speaker 4: Park in Charleston. Dave Island Show in five Ady Live
- 8:43Speaker 4: brought to you park by Jute Well the best in
- 8:45Speaker 4: security systems for both your home or business. Talk to
- 8:47Speaker 4: Jute j Oot of tays Valley visit protected by jute
- 8:51Speaker 4: dot Com. Let's go over all the details again. We
- 8:53Speaker 4: kick it off Thursday, and again folks are working in
- 8:55Speaker 4: the office buildings or wherever you are in Charleston, you
- 8:57Speaker 4: want a little break and do something a little bit different,
- 9:00Speaker 4: walk on over. It's could be. I mean, the weather
- 9:01Speaker 4: looks beautiful. I mean, for what I've been able to see,
- 9:04Speaker 4: there's a slight chance of rain here or there. But
- 9:05Speaker 4: overall we're just Tuesday. Now. Things can change, but overall
- 9:09Speaker 4: it looks good. But on Thursday, if folks want to
- 9:10Speaker 4: walk over and get him some lunch, take it back
- 9:12Speaker 4: to the office, or as Steve said this morning, just
- 9:15Speaker 4: couldn't take the rest of the day off exactly. Aaron said,
- 9:17Speaker 4: it would be.
- 9:18Speaker 7: Okay, exactly, come on over and don't forget you know,
- 9:20Speaker 7: you try their sauce, you try the ribs, Come on
- 9:22Speaker 7: over to the beer tent. We're gonna do a people's
- 9:24Speaker 7: choice award for the rivers, so you get to vote
- 9:27Speaker 7: on who has the best sauce and who has the
- 9:29Speaker 7: best ribs, and those guys will win a big trophy
- 9:31Speaker 7: at the end of the contest.
- 9:32Speaker 4: And again a lot of things went on for the kids.
- 9:34Speaker 4: As you said there, I know with Quantum there, you
- 9:36Speaker 4: guys are gonna be all set up.
- 9:37Speaker 7: Doing stuff rank well. Actually, we're gonna have a carnival
- 9:40Speaker 7: this year, okay, So we got a full carnival for
- 9:42Speaker 7: the kids, gonna have nine to ten rides down the
- 9:44Speaker 7: boulevard between Court Street and Clinton, and Sunday is actually
- 9:47Speaker 7: gonna be family Day. We're gonna have a hula hoop contest.
- 9:50Speaker 7: We're gonna have a Taylor Swift contest, lookalike contest, We're
- 9:54Speaker 7: gonna have a Lipsyn contest, and we're gonna have Disney
- 9:57Speaker 7: characters there, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, is light Year,
- 10:00Speaker 7: Mickey Mouse, Mini Mouse. So it's really going to be
- 10:03Speaker 7: family friendly on Sunday and.
- 10:04Speaker 4: Again, as they say the old adage, the cliche is
- 10:07Speaker 4: something for the entire family. And it runs Thursday through Sunday.
- 10:10Speaker 4: And my experience with Ribfest is is you did a
- 10:13Speaker 4: lot of repeat customers, meaning they check it out on
- 10:15Speaker 4: Thursday and then they come back again on Friday, or
- 10:18Speaker 4: they come back on Sunday or Sunday because they want
- 10:20Speaker 4: to try all the different ribs. And if you're not
- 10:22Speaker 4: a ribs person, well you're on American. But if you're
- 10:24Speaker 4: not a ribs person, there are other things there, Aaron,
- 10:26Speaker 4: as you said, brisket, sausage, even the sides. A lot
- 10:30Speaker 4: of people just go for the sides and there's a
- 10:31Speaker 4: lot of great side dishes here.
- 10:33Speaker 7: Oh yeah, it's great.
- 10:34Speaker 4: We's the best place to learn more about it. You
- 10:35Speaker 4: guys got a pretty good Facebook page. That's the best
- 10:37Speaker 4: place to get all the details.
- 10:38Speaker 7: You can get it on our Facebook page at Charleston Murdfests,
- 10:41Speaker 7: or you can go to our website at Wvribfest dot com.
- 10:44Speaker 4: And again, things will open up on Thursday, runs all
- 10:47Speaker 4: the way through the weekend. All of our at least
- 10:49Speaker 4: most of our stations are going to be down there
- 10:51Speaker 4: at some point when I'll be making appearances down there.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Are best of luck with everything you know you did
- 10:55Speaker 4: Huntington last week. You're definitely an iron man to be
- 10:58Speaker 4: able to do these things too. Two weeks in a
- 11:00Speaker 4: row in two different cities, looking forward to being down
- 11:03Speaker 4: there with you man. Thanks a lot for being here,
- 11:04Speaker 4: all right, Thank you, Aaron? What from quanam again? Rib

- 11:27Speaker 4: verdict yesterday or that plea I guess would be the
- 11:30Speaker 4: correct legal term in Kanaw Circuit Court in front of
- 11:33Speaker 4: Judge Acres yesterday with a fourteen year old one of
- 11:35Speaker 4: two fourteen year olds charged in the murder of a
- 11:38Speaker 4: nineteen year old tobacco clerk in North Charleston. We talked
- 11:41Speaker 4: to Deb Rusnick about that and when we come back
- 11:44Speaker 4: another event that's going on Saturday. This one a little
- 11:46Speaker 4: bit different and it has to do with the recovery
- 11:49Speaker 4: community in Charleston. We will get into that plus your
- 11:51Speaker 4: calls and Texter welcome to back after this on the
- 11:54Speaker 4: Voice of Charleston WCCHS.

- 14:54Speaker 4: why we're talking about it, and he is facing now
- 14:57Speaker 4: life in prison. And we're going to talk to you
- 15:00Speaker 4: Gnawan County Prosecuting Attorney Deb Rusnik about that. Plus tonight
- 15:05Speaker 4: probably the only time that you're gonna see former President
- 15:07Speaker 4: Donald Trump and current Vice President KAMBLA. Harris on the
- 15:10Speaker 4: same stage in Philadelphia. We'll give you a little preview
- 15:13Speaker 4: of that as well. I want to talk about a
- 15:15Speaker 4: unique event that's happening this Saturday in Charleston sponsored by
- 15:18Speaker 4: Charleston Area Metal Recycling, and it's being dubbed the Charleston
- 15:21Speaker 4: Area Metal Recycling Block Party, with proceeds benefiting the Recycle
- 15:26Speaker 4: for Recovery program. Beck Beck Is beck Berg is with
- 15:31Speaker 4: the group and she joins us in the Parmar Store
- 15:33Speaker 4: studio this morning. Good morning, good morning, and we also
- 15:36Speaker 4: have another guest with us. I'll let you introduce yourself.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Good morning.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I'm Chasity.
- 15:41Speaker 4: Okay, all right, so we got Beck. We're gonna primarily
- 15:45Speaker 4: talk to you here. Tell me about Charleston Area Metal Recycling.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Well, it's newly this year, but we want to make
- 15:53Speaker 3: it an annual event.
- 15:55Speaker 4: So I mean, let's talk about the company a little bit.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Talk about this.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Have taken over what was once Freedom Recycling, so it's
- 16:03Speaker 3: now as Charleston Area Metal and they've changed the whole outlook.
- 16:07Speaker 3: I mean even I mean I've worked with a lot
- 16:10Speaker 3: of jobs in my young age of forty six, a lot.
- 16:14Speaker 4: Of you're still younger than I am, so go ahead.
- 16:16Speaker 3: And I mean it's not just not just a company,
- 16:19Speaker 3: you know, it's like family oriented people, and I mean
- 16:23Speaker 3: they're down and.
- 16:26Speaker 4: In talking to mister Bledsoe of the company, as I was,
- 16:29Speaker 4: I talked to you on the phone last week when
- 16:31Speaker 4: we were setting this whole thing up. It's a company
- 16:33Speaker 4: that sounds like that they are interested in not just
- 16:35Speaker 4: making money but also giving back to the community. Absolutely,
- 16:38Speaker 4: and that's where you come in. Now we've got this
- 16:40Speaker 4: event that's going to be happening. I'll let you get
- 16:43Speaker 4: into all the details and how it all came about.
- 16:45Speaker 4: So give us the time and place of what exactly
- 16:46Speaker 4: is going to go on there.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Okay, The block party starts from on this Saturday noon
- 16:52Speaker 3: to five. We're going to have vendors.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Where is this specifically located?
- 16:57Speaker 3: Where is our address?
- 16:59Speaker 4: That's crazy, I don't have the address like in front
- 17:03Speaker 4: of me right now. Forty eighth Street, Okay, city, not
- 17:06Speaker 4: hard to find, not hard to find, Okay, go ahead, right.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Well, it's basically for recovery. You know, we have like
- 17:12Speaker 3: broken chains coming. The proceeds are going to go to
- 17:17Speaker 3: recovery points, mainly the one in Charleston because like a
- 17:21Speaker 3: lot of people that work there have battled addictions and
- 17:24Speaker 3: come through and I'm one of them. It affects nine
- 17:28Speaker 3: out of ten families, you know, And this is a
- 17:30Speaker 3: way for us to say and to give back to
- 17:32Speaker 3: the community. Charleston's not a dead city, but you go
- 17:36Speaker 3: out and you see the homeless, and addiction is part
- 17:39Speaker 3: of that. And we want to help take the stigma
- 17:42Speaker 3: off that and remind people that they are loved because
- 17:44Speaker 3: that's the only thing that's going to beat these sadistic situations.
- 17:48Speaker 3: So that's what we're trying to do.
- 17:50Speaker 4: The actual dress is six ten forty eighth Street. I
- 17:52Speaker 4: appreciate Coop forgetting that for me, sixteen forty eighth Street
- 17:55Speaker 4: in Kanal City. So talk about you, talk about you.
- 17:59Speaker 4: You are somebody that knows a little something about this.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Is that right?
- 18:02Speaker 3: Absolutely? Twenty six years I was in heroin addiction.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Okay, and I don't want to get too personal. You
- 18:08Speaker 4: can only talk about what you feel comfortable in talking about, Beck,
- 18:11Speaker 4: but let's talk about how you got out of this.
- 18:15Speaker 3: It's all about connection, and that's why this is important
- 18:19Speaker 3: to charlestonnar or Metal because we're a community. We not
- 18:23Speaker 3: one person can do this together. I struggled for many,
- 18:25Speaker 3: many years because I didn't have a network or connection
- 18:28Speaker 3: in the community, and that's a big part. The stigma
- 18:31Speaker 3: around addiction is still very real. You know, people they
- 18:35Speaker 3: don't reach out for help because there's that stigma. And
- 18:39Speaker 3: if we can break that cycle then and people realize
- 18:43Speaker 3: that there is a better.
- 18:43Speaker 11: Way and way out.
- 18:45Speaker 3: That's what helped me, the connection and the support of
- 18:48Speaker 3: the community, and we're hoping that it catches fire and
- 18:51Speaker 3: a lot of local businesses jump on board.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Do you want to and again, I'm going to leave
- 18:57Speaker 4: this totally up to you. This is the miracle of
- 18:59Speaker 4: why radio here. Do you want to tell your story
- 19:02Speaker 4: about about how you got how how you went down
- 19:05Speaker 4: that path, and then how you got out of You
- 19:07Speaker 4: talked about the connections afterwards, But are you comfortable in
- 19:10Speaker 4: talking to the audience or talking to others about your
- 19:12Speaker 4: particular story. If you're not, that's fine.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Oh, I mean, I'll give you some power points because
- 19:17Speaker 3: we don't all that time.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Yeah, well only got about ten minutes. We go ahead.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Uh, well, my audition, I was I was a very
- 19:24Speaker 3: sporty person back in school. And uh I played a
- 19:29Speaker 3: lot of sports and I was very athletic. It was
- 19:35Speaker 3: very good. But I tour my knee and that was
- 19:38Speaker 3: the first prescription drugs. You know, that was when I
- 19:41Speaker 3: was younger. I got a little taste of it, but
- 19:43Speaker 3: you know, I didn't But when I got older and
- 19:45Speaker 3: I started working labor jobs. And that's another thing West Virginia.
- 19:49Speaker 3: I love West Virginia people. By the way, we're the best. Wait,
- 19:53Speaker 3: we're a blue collar states, right, you know. And I'm
- 19:56Speaker 3: not going to mention any names big Pharma.
- 20:00Speaker 2: And that, you know.
- 20:01Speaker 3: And we're hard working people. And when I tore my
- 20:04Speaker 3: back out on a bridge job in Hardy County that
- 20:09Speaker 3: was two thousand and five, I had particular doctors that
- 20:12Speaker 3: would just keep writing me pills.
- 20:14Speaker 2: You know.
- 20:14Speaker 3: And then when that went away, I mean, we had
- 20:16Speaker 3: a whole epidemic of.
- 20:17Speaker 4: Sure, oh yeah, trust me. I'm from southern West Virginia.
- 20:21Speaker 7: I know all.
- 20:21Speaker 4: I was right in the middle of all of that,
- 20:24Speaker 4: and so many people got on these these opioids because
- 20:29Speaker 4: we have a tendency to trust the guy with a
- 20:31Speaker 4: white coat, you know, and you go into the big
- 20:33Speaker 4: medical facility, well obviously they know what they're doing. And
- 20:36Speaker 4: I'm not trying to put all the blame on the
- 20:37Speaker 4: doctors either, but I'm saying that there was a time back,
- 20:41Speaker 4: and you know, because you were part of it, there
- 20:43Speaker 4: was a time when for the slightest little thing you had,
- 20:46Speaker 4: you were given a script. I mean you were giving
- 20:49Speaker 4: I got a toothache. Here's a prescription, you got this,
- 20:51Speaker 4: here's a prescription. And then when that was taken away,
- 20:55Speaker 4: which you know, the pill mills started getting shut down,
- 20:58Speaker 4: and which was a good thing. Well, the addictions still there.
- 21:01Speaker 4: The addiction is still there, and you can pick it
- 21:02Speaker 4: up from there.
- 21:03Speaker 3: And you know, I'm not blaming the doctors, but you know,
- 21:07Speaker 3: in the nineteen sixties we knew morphine was addictive. But
- 21:10Speaker 3: for you to get on there and say, oh, the
- 21:12Speaker 3: pharmaceuticals didn't tell me oxy code. You knew morphine was
- 21:15Speaker 3: addictive in nineteen sixty, but you don't know that oxy
- 21:18Speaker 3: cotton is addictive.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Okay, whatever.
- 21:21Speaker 3: And I think it's particular funny that West Virginia is
- 21:25Speaker 3: Huntington's an overdose state. We are like the capital. But
- 21:28Speaker 3: if you look at us over a geographical map and
- 21:31Speaker 3: all the mountains, why are we reducing more than in
- 21:35Speaker 3: the ports? It kind of looks planned. They kind of
- 21:38Speaker 3: you know, I think we're up We're up against more
- 21:41Speaker 3: than the addiction itself. And I hope people realize that
- 21:45Speaker 3: that it's an everybody problem.
- 21:47Speaker 4: There's not a person listening to this show right now
- 21:52Speaker 4: who their life in one way or the other has
- 21:55Speaker 4: not been touched by a drug addiction of some sort.
- 21:58Speaker 4: I've told my own personal story. I have a sister
- 22:01Speaker 4: that no one has seen in years. We don't know.
- 22:04Speaker 4: I don't know whether she's alive, whether she's dead. We
- 22:06Speaker 4: couldn't find her too. It's my sister, you know. We
- 22:09Speaker 4: couldn't find her to tell her that our mother passed
- 22:11Speaker 4: away because she one reason or another. She's around your age,
- 22:16Speaker 4: a little bit younger. She started doing talking about college educated,
- 22:21Speaker 4: smarter than I ever thought about being, which is not
- 22:23Speaker 4: that big of a stretch.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Uh.
- 22:25Speaker 4: And and she, you know, got got involved in that lifestyle.
- 22:29Speaker 4: And to this day, I have no idea where she is,
- 22:33Speaker 4: and no one in the family is, and and that's sad,
- 22:36Speaker 4: and it really really is. And that's why I think
- 22:38Speaker 4: breaking down a lot of these stigmas back is a
- 22:43Speaker 4: is a major part of this. And hats off to
- 22:45Speaker 4: your company for wanting wanting to do this sort of thing.
- 22:48Speaker 4: What all is going to actually go on over there
- 22:50Speaker 4: at your event Saturday? We're going at a block party.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Yeah, well, we're going to have music and great food.
- 22:59Speaker 3: One of their local recovery points, I think the girl
- 23:02Speaker 3: recovery points from Charleston will be there and Broken Chains
- 23:07Speaker 3: and a few others. We have a celebrate recovery coming
- 23:11Speaker 3: in so and it's not just for the recovery community
- 23:15Speaker 3: like it's it's for everybody. Of course, we want you
- 23:17Speaker 3: to recycle and be good to the environment and make
- 23:20Speaker 3: your money. But this is particularly you know, to unite
- 23:25Speaker 3: everybody on a common goal and just put that realization
- 23:29Speaker 3: out there and that people aren't alone and there's a
- 23:31Speaker 3: better way. It doesn't have to be a lifestyle. It
- 23:34Speaker 3: could be you know, like John Lennon said, there's no problems,
- 23:38Speaker 3: there's any solutions.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Very good, very good point. And uh And I think
- 23:42Speaker 4: sometimes when people and I've talked to people that have
- 23:45Speaker 4: gone through this type of things and they'll say, well,
- 23:48Speaker 4: I don't think anybody really understands what I'm going through.
- 23:53Speaker 4: When they talk to Beck, they're going to understand because
- 23:57Speaker 4: you've been there, talk about that absolutely.
- 24:01Speaker 3: That's like, you know, pain is a common denominator for everybody.
- 24:05Speaker 3: And I think once we you know, we're supposed to
- 24:07Speaker 3: cary each other's burdens as they are our own. But
- 24:10Speaker 3: I think if you know, if we just realize that,
- 24:13Speaker 3: then everybody thinks they're pain is unique and it's really not.
- 24:19Speaker 3: It's actually the common denominator, you know, it's what unites us.
- 24:24Speaker 3: So you know, I got to bipolar the polar axis
- 24:26Speaker 3: of it all. Like the darkness needs the light and
- 24:29Speaker 3: the light needs the darkness. That's it. Like I, everybody
- 24:33Speaker 3: wants somebody to understand them. But that's why we want
- 24:36Speaker 3: to get the stigma like torn away from recovery because
- 24:39Speaker 3: when people feel alone and that they're not understood and
- 24:42Speaker 3: it's not possible, nobody's like me, that keeps them in
- 24:45Speaker 3: the dark, and then there's no network. And that's how
- 24:47Speaker 3: I was for twenty six years and.
- 24:49Speaker 4: You've been it's twenty six years or how long have
- 24:52Speaker 4: you been sober? Now, how long you've been cleaning?
- 24:53Speaker 3: Oh, I've been sober since twenty twenty twenty.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Okay, well, congratulations on that. That's that's remarkable because it's
- 25:00Speaker 4: not an easy it's not an easy road to go home,
- 25:02Speaker 4: and a lot of people don't don't succeed straight out
- 25:05Speaker 4: the box. And it sounds it sounds like thankfully that
- 25:08Speaker 4: you did before we let you go. You use the
- 25:12Speaker 4: term at the top of the interview, and it's some
- 25:13Speaker 4: of the notes that that you that you sent me
- 25:15Speaker 4: about about dead city, about Charleston. Some people have described
- 25:20Speaker 4: Charleston as dead city when it comes to this. You
- 25:22Speaker 4: say though that you you don't believe that I don't.
- 25:27Speaker 3: And it's things like this that's happening, you know, just
- 25:30Speaker 3: with just with our company. It's little things like that,
- 25:33Speaker 3: that spark of fire, you know, like love and happiness
- 25:38Speaker 3: and connection is contagious. And and I've heard it said that,
- 25:44Speaker 3: you know, but I go, like me and my wife,
- 25:46Speaker 3: we would go, we will make lunches and sandwiches and
- 25:50Speaker 3: we will put on a little zippy bags that you
- 25:52Speaker 3: are loved.
- 25:53Speaker 4: Of course that was right.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Yeah, but I think that is the most important thing
- 25:58Speaker 3: because if people don't feel loved or needed or wanted
- 26:00Speaker 3: a part of something, I even forgot what I was saying.
- 26:05Speaker 4: You're fine, we get the idea of what you're saying.
- 26:07Speaker 4: So the event is going to be at at your
- 26:11Speaker 4: business six ten forty eighth Street in Kada City this Saturday.
- 26:14Speaker 4: What's the time again?
- 26:14Speaker 3: On that it is news, there's a new noon.
- 26:16Speaker 4: It's gonna be like an all day kind of party
- 26:18Speaker 4: to get great music and food and just kind of
- 26:21Speaker 4: hanging out and learning more about this.
- 26:23Speaker 3: We're gonna rock that block with love, peace and happiness.
- 26:27Speaker 4: That's rocking that block would love peace and tell you what,
- 26:29Speaker 4: get with my man, Steve, get some T shirts made? Okay,
- 26:32Speaker 4: then you could probably sell those T shirts and help
- 26:34Speaker 4: it out. And again, hats off foot to your company
- 26:37Speaker 4: for doing this. I think it's a he's a wonderful
- 26:39Speaker 4: thing you're doing and I appreciate you taking time at
- 26:41Speaker 4: your schedule and more importantly back, I appreciate you being
- 26:44Speaker 4: willing to come forward with the honesty to talk about
- 26:46Speaker 4: this because again, so many people in situations like these think, well,
- 26:50Speaker 4: there's no one like me. By God, you look at you,
- 26:53Speaker 4: you are you are one of them. You are you
- 26:56Speaker 4: are like them, And nobody can tell the story quite
- 26:59Speaker 4: like a person that's been there. So I appreciate your
- 27:02Speaker 4: honestly appreciate both of you folks for being here today.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Best of luck with your event. Let's know how it goes. Okay,

- 31:01Speaker 4: issues in the state, and you don't need me to
- 31:03Speaker 4: tell you we have a lot of them. She's going
- 31:06Speaker 4: to join us on the show tomorrow. Also tomorrow, say
- 31:08Speaker 4: Senator Mike Stewart is here. Mike's been on plenty of
- 31:10Speaker 4: times before and he always listens a variety of calls
- 31:13Speaker 4: and texts when he's on. He's a fiery guy for sure,
- 31:16Speaker 4: but he's taken on a new project now that hardly
- 31:19Speaker 4: anyone I think would disagree with him about, and that
- 31:22Speaker 4: is the safety aspect of our youth when it comes
- 31:25Speaker 4: to football. This all coming in the heels of the
- 31:27Speaker 4: tragic death of the young crawdock boy from Boone County.
- 31:31Speaker 4: Mike's been really out there banging the drum for the
- 31:33Speaker 4: protective Guardian Caps. Now you've heard Hoppy and Mike and Hoppy,
- 31:37Speaker 4: He's actually spent a lot of time talking about the
- 31:40Speaker 4: Guardian Caps. Senator Stewart will be on the show to
- 31:42Speaker 4: discuss it with me tomorrow. Plus with the Knight's Trump
- 31:45Speaker 4: Harris debate, I'm sure Mike, who was a former state
- 31:48Speaker 4: director for the Trump campaign back in twenty sixteen, will
- 31:50Speaker 4: want to give his opinions on the debate that's coming
- 31:53Speaker 4: up on tomorrow's show. And again a reminder programming notes,
- 31:57Speaker 4: we will have coverage via the ABC Radio network of
- 31:59Speaker 4: the debate star tonight at eight o'clock and the Reds
- 32:03Speaker 4: will be heard on Charleston's ESPN Radio yesterday in can
- 32:08Speaker 4: all circuit to Court one of the two teenagers charged
- 32:11Speaker 4: in the death of the North Charleston tobacco store employee
- 32:15Speaker 4: planned guilty and this was front in front of Judge
- 32:17Speaker 4: Mary Clair Akers. Connaw County Prosecutor Deb Rusnick George is
- 32:20Speaker 4: now to talk about it. Deb Good morning, welcome to
- 32:22Speaker 4: the show.
- 32:22Speaker 14: Good morning, Dave to be here, Thanks for having me.
- 32:26Speaker 4: A little recap here. This goes back to January thirtieth
- 32:30Speaker 4: when John Williams Hampton, aged fourteen, of Charleston and another
- 32:34Speaker 4: team fourteen year old Brock Williams, We're accused of murdering
- 32:37Speaker 4: the tobacco shop employee that happened in North Charleston. The employee,
- 32:41Speaker 4: sadly enough, was also a teenager. Williams Hampton pleading guilty yesterday,
- 32:46Speaker 4: obviously being charged as an adult fourteen years old, now
- 32:50Speaker 4: facing life in prison with there is a possibility of parole.
- 32:55Speaker 4: Prosecutor Usnick, I know it's the and this is my
- 32:58Speaker 4: editorial comment, not your I know it's the right verdict,
- 33:03Speaker 4: but this is just a sad, sad story all around.
- 33:06Speaker 6: It is you are dealing with a situation where children
- 33:11Speaker 6: are involved, and you have children making adult decisions and
- 33:16Speaker 6: decisions that not only impact their lives in the lives
- 33:19Speaker 6: of their family members, but in this instance, change the
- 33:23Speaker 6: lives of Caden Martin's family and ended Caden Martin's life.
- 33:28Speaker 6: And it is beyond tragic what happened in this situation.
- 33:34Speaker 6: And you know, at the end of the day, when
- 33:38Speaker 6: we are dealing with a case like this, we have
- 33:40Speaker 6: to be able to step back and separate ourselves from
- 33:44Speaker 6: the reality of this situation, from the reality of the
- 33:48Speaker 6: fact that we are looking at a child, a juvenile offender,
- 33:53Speaker 6: and look at the crime, look at the facts of
- 33:57Speaker 6: what took place, and make a determination as to how
- 34:00Speaker 6: we proceed from there.
- 34:02Speaker 14: It's not always an easy, easy judgment.
- 34:04Speaker 4: I was going to say, as a prosecutor, you want
- 34:06Speaker 4: to do any prosecutor wants to do the right thing.
- 34:09Speaker 4: You know you're prosecuting on behalf of the people. But still,
- 34:13Speaker 4: you know there is a step back from because I
- 34:17Speaker 4: know you have known you a long time. I know
- 34:18Speaker 4: you're a decent human being, as I'm sure most of
- 34:20Speaker 4: our prosecutors are. But there's a part of you I
- 34:23Speaker 4: would think that would step back and think, wow, this
- 34:27Speaker 4: story just sucks all around. I mean, it really does.
- 34:30Speaker 4: And obviously for the family of the nineteen year old
- 34:33Speaker 4: whose life was in who was just just doing his job,
- 34:36Speaker 4: you know, just trying to just if I believe the
- 34:39Speaker 4: time time frame correct that I think it was maybe
- 34:41Speaker 4: toward the end of the shift or whatever. Getting that way,
- 34:46Speaker 4: and you think about the other the two fourteen year olds,
- 34:51Speaker 4: and by the way, editors note, we can only really
- 34:53Speaker 4: talk about one of them with Debra Rousnik. I can
- 34:55Speaker 4: say what I want, but the prosecutor resident can't. Well
- 34:57Speaker 4: I'll explain that a little bit later on. But for
- 35:01Speaker 4: that young man and that young man's family, I'm talking
- 35:04Speaker 4: about the fourteen year old that pled guilty yesterday. For
- 35:06Speaker 4: his family that's still there's still a family. So there
- 35:10Speaker 4: is still a family, friends and so on and so forth.
- 35:12Speaker 4: And they're also going to have to live with this
- 35:14Speaker 4: decision that a fourteen year old made. And even if
- 35:18Speaker 4: he is eligible for parole or whatever he gets out,
- 35:22Speaker 4: I mean, his life, his life is I don't want
- 35:25Speaker 4: to go as far deb as to say his life
- 35:27Speaker 4: is over.
- 35:27Speaker 14: It is forever altered.
- 35:29Speaker 4: It is forever altered. It's a great way to put it.
- 35:31Speaker 14: And the course of his life will forever be altered.
- 35:34Speaker 6: And there is no good outcome here at the end
- 35:37Speaker 6: of the day, the best outcome would have been for
- 35:39Speaker 6: this to never have happened to begin with.
- 35:42Speaker 14: But it did happen. And so while it is a
- 35:45Speaker 14: very very.
- 35:46Speaker 6: Difficult decision for us to make as prosecutors, we have
- 35:50Speaker 6: to be able to do the right thing and know
- 35:53Speaker 6: that not only are we getting justice for the family
- 35:56Speaker 6: of the victim, but that we are ensuring that we
- 35:59Speaker 6: are keeping this society safe and that we are sending
- 36:02Speaker 6: a message to the community that this behavior cannot be tolerated,
- 36:06Speaker 6: whether it be an adult a child. At the end
- 36:09Speaker 6: of the day, you cannot take someone else's life and
- 36:13Speaker 6: walk away unscathed.
- 36:15Speaker 4: I will mention that the second team is due in
- 36:17Speaker 4: court October twenty third also could be charged as an adult.
- 36:23Speaker 4: And I think probably yesterday one of the truly saddest
- 36:26Speaker 4: moments from yesterday, and I heard you in an interview
- 36:29Speaker 4: with local media talking about that when judge Akers asked
- 36:32Speaker 4: the young man, the first young man I'm talking about,
- 36:34Speaker 4: the one that played guilty, why he did it, And
- 36:37Speaker 4: just like a kid or a teenager would say, you know,
- 36:41Speaker 4: kind of like when you get caught cheating on a
- 36:44Speaker 4: math test or something. He just said, I don't know.
- 36:47Speaker 6: I don't know why, and he didn't know why, and
- 36:49Speaker 6: at fourteen he probably doesn't know why. But at the
- 36:54Speaker 6: end of the day, he made a decision. And while
- 36:59Speaker 6: the why would be great to know what was going
- 37:02Speaker 6: through his mind, maybe give some some peace of mind
- 37:05Speaker 6: to the family of Caden Martin, just to know why
- 37:09Speaker 6: he did that. I don't think we'll ever know, and
- 37:11Speaker 6: I'm not sure that he is capable of telling us.
- 37:15Speaker 4: Three lives on that evening in January, prosecutor one teen
- 37:19Speaker 4: life ended the store, Clark nineteen year old. The other two,
- 37:23Speaker 4: as you said, have been forever altered. Not to play psychologists,
- 37:27Speaker 4: because I know that's not what you are, although there's
- 37:29Speaker 4: a little psychology that goes in with being a prosecutor.
- 37:31Speaker 4: I'm sure what the hell's going on with our society.
- 37:34Speaker 14: I don't know.
- 37:35Speaker 6: I don't know the crimes that we see come through
- 37:39Speaker 6: our office day in and day out, even crimes involving
- 37:44Speaker 6: juveniles as victims or offenders. I do not know what
- 37:49Speaker 6: is happening. You know, we blame the drug epidemic for
- 37:52Speaker 6: a lot of things, but at the end of the day,
- 37:54Speaker 6: if you step back and look at things we need parents,
- 37:59Speaker 6: We need teach We need people who are going to
- 38:01Speaker 6: step up into these children's lives and teach them right
- 38:04Speaker 6: from wrong. We are going to you know, we need
- 38:07Speaker 6: people in positions who are able to provide a support
- 38:10Speaker 6: system and guidance to our youth, to our children, because
- 38:15Speaker 6: I think that's where the problems start.
- 38:17Speaker 14: If they're not taught at a young age, right is right,
- 38:21Speaker 14: wrong is wrong? You do the right thing? Then how
- 38:23Speaker 14: do they know that?
- 38:25Speaker 4: And I think sometimes we've seen this and I again,
- 38:28Speaker 4: I'm not a psychologist in or do I play one
- 38:30Speaker 4: on TV? And I'm and I'm older, and when you're
- 38:35Speaker 4: when you get to be a certain age, you start
- 38:36Speaker 4: to look at things a little bit differently. But there
- 38:39Speaker 4: came a time in society when it just seems like
- 38:43Speaker 4: we don't value life anymore. And I've heard people say, well,
- 38:47Speaker 4: it's it's video games. You know, they said that in
- 38:49Speaker 4: the eighties. When I was coming up in the eighties,
- 38:51Speaker 4: it was video games, you know, it was that they
- 38:53Speaker 4: don't I don't know what it is. But at some
- 38:55Speaker 4: point we just got away from realizing that. And one
- 39:01Speaker 4: of the sad things that really came out of that
- 39:02Speaker 4: story is best I understand it. And again, I know
- 39:05Speaker 4: you're limited on the second what you can say, and
- 39:07Speaker 4: I don't want to do to jeopardize the case. But
- 39:11Speaker 4: the clerk did what was asked of him, you know.
- 39:14Speaker 4: And I don't know what the exact verbiage was, but
- 39:16Speaker 4: it's basically, you're being robbed. He gave up the goods
- 39:19Speaker 4: and they still shot and killed him.
- 39:21Speaker 2: You know.
- 39:21Speaker 4: I mean I would say, you know, and I mean,
- 39:26Speaker 4: what a horrible story. I mean that one really hit
- 39:29Speaker 4: me hard when it happened back in January. I talked
- 39:32Speaker 4: about it, you know, with police and stuff on the
- 39:33Speaker 4: next day, on the Next Day show. But man, I mean,
- 39:36Speaker 4: he did what what you are instructed to do and
- 39:38Speaker 4: he still lost his life.
- 39:40Speaker 14: Yes, And there again step back and look at the situation.
- 39:46Speaker 6: We have individuals who are acting out in such a
- 39:51Speaker 6: manner that obviously had no value for anyone's life in
- 39:57Speaker 6: that circumstance. They again, you go back to the video games,
- 40:04Speaker 6: the TV shows. I don't know that there's a root calls.
- 40:08Speaker 6: I don't know that there's one particular cause. But at
- 40:11Speaker 6: the end of the day, we really need to start
- 40:14Speaker 6: valuing each other as a society and show each other
- 40:18Speaker 6: that we care help each other instead of fighting with
- 40:20Speaker 6: one another.
- 40:21Speaker 14: I don't understand.
- 40:23Speaker 3: You know.
- 40:23Speaker 6: Oftentimes we see a situation in my line of work
- 40:29Speaker 6: where you don't always have a purely innocent victim, but
- 40:33Speaker 6: in this situation we.
- 40:34Speaker 14: Did, and so those are a lot harder to swallow.
- 40:40Speaker 6: But again, you don't know what's right and what's wrong
- 40:44Speaker 6: to do in those circumstances, because, as you said, Caden
- 40:46Speaker 6: Martin still lost his life.
- 40:48Speaker 4: Yeah, indeed, And again the trial for the second young
- 40:52Speaker 4: person that's charging this will be in October. Deb I
- 40:54Speaker 4: know you're very, very busy. It was a very very
- 40:59Speaker 4: hard day for you and your staff yesterday. I mean
- 41:01Speaker 4: for everybody involved that was in that courtroom, I'm sure,
- 41:03Speaker 4: and even in the media covering stories like that, we
- 41:06Speaker 4: do have a heart every now and then it does
- 41:09Speaker 4: weigh heavily on us as well. I appreciate you being here.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Thanks a lot, and we'll talk soon.
- 41:13Speaker 6: Thanks a lot, absolutely, Dave, thank you, And just quickly,
- 41:15Speaker 6: if I can, I'd like to give a great shout
- 41:17Speaker 6: out to my people at my office. They did a
- 41:19Speaker 6: great job on this case, and the Charleston Police Department

- 45:03Speaker 4: even here, and the Mike Stewart texts already coming in Texas.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Mike Stewart's new project. He wants a taxpayer to fund
- 45:08Speaker 4: guardian caps for football playing students. They're seventy five dollars
- 45:12Speaker 4: apiece and can be used only one year. Ask him
- 45:16Speaker 4: how much money that is and perpetuity to buy every
- 45:18Speaker 4: football playing student a guardian cap every year. Justice won't
- 45:22Speaker 4: be able to get his tax reduction plan passed if
- 45:24Speaker 4: Stuart's guardian cap plan goes through Also ironic, Stewart wants
- 45:29Speaker 4: the government to mandate guardian caps for safety when he
- 45:32Speaker 4: was staunchly against government mandates of masks for safety. Says
- 45:37Speaker 4: a Texter. Well, you know, mister Stewart, tender Stuart or

- 48:12Speaker 4: name is Morgan Pemberton. We're gonna have her on the
- 48:14Speaker 4: show in the next couple of days so you can
- 48:15Speaker 4: get to know Morgan. But Dave Island Show on five
- 48:18Speaker 4: Vidy Live brought to you a part by your hometown
- 48:19Speaker 4: baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds. Birds are wrapping up
- 48:22Speaker 4: the regular season with the road series against Gastonia through
- 48:24Speaker 4: the weekend. For tickets, merchandise promotions and more, visit dirty
- 48:27Speaker 4: Birds Baseball dot com. I think they are still in
- 48:29Speaker 4: playoff contention, but you gotta have some other things happen.
- 48:34Speaker 4: From the best I understand it, I'll get with Jill
- 48:35Speaker 4: Garrin on that with the Dirty Birds and see what
- 48:37Speaker 4: we can find out about it. The first and only
- 48:40Speaker 4: debates between Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris coming
- 48:45Speaker 4: tonight in Philadelphia and again programming note, want to make
- 48:49Speaker 4: sure that you know we will have complete coverage here
- 48:51Speaker 4: on the radio via ABC Radio Network News starting at
- 48:55Speaker 4: eight o'clock to night. Red's Baseball can be heard instead
- 48:59Speaker 4: on Charleston ESPN Radio. You know, I'm going to review
- 49:03Speaker 4: it tomorrow morning, and I'm sure Hoppy will as I said,
- 49:10Speaker 4: Hobby is going to preview it with his folks coming
- 49:13Speaker 4: up this morning, and I'll review it. I'm preeing now
- 49:17Speaker 4: reading tomorrow. But at the end of the day, is
- 49:20Speaker 4: it all really going to matter? I mean, Hoppy did
- 49:23Speaker 4: a flashpole yesterday on X the artist formally known as Twitter,
- 49:28Speaker 4: asking the question how much of an impact will tonight's
- 49:32Speaker 4: debate truly have on the presidential race come November. If
- 49:38Speaker 4: you're answering, if you didn't see it, none at all.
- 49:41Speaker 4: Was the winner at forty percent. That was followed by
- 49:44Speaker 4: a little at thirty seven percent, and a lot at
- 49:49Speaker 4: twenty four percent. They say that the undecideds and the
- 49:53Speaker 4: independents are going to decide the White House come November.
- 49:58Speaker 4: I just don't know who the those people are at
- 50:01Speaker 4: this point. There are. They're there, obviously, because you know,
- 50:04Speaker 4: Trump and Harris are spending a lot of time at
- 50:05Speaker 4: Pennsylvania and some of these other key Keith swing states.
- 50:09Speaker 4: But I don't. I don't. I can say this from
- 50:12Speaker 4: my from my small circle. I don't know a single
- 50:17Speaker 4: person who's undecided at this point. Now again, I'm in Charleston,
- 50:20Speaker 4: West Virginia. There's a whole big world outside West Virginia.
- 50:23Speaker 4: I realize that, but I don't know at this point
- 50:25Speaker 4: a single person that is undecided. I think, you know,
- 50:29Speaker 4: the Trump folks are, they got their heels in the sand.
- 50:32Speaker 4: That's their guy. The Harris folks or some of them
- 50:35Speaker 4: would be considered anti Trump folks, uh and maybe vice versa.
- 50:38Speaker 4: I don't know. They aren't going anywhere. And then there's
- 50:42Speaker 4: a school of a lot of people that are just going,
- 50:44Speaker 4: Holy crap, is this the best we can do? They
- 50:46Speaker 4: said the same thing about Biden, and Harris may have
- 50:49Speaker 4: given them a little bit more energy going in. Well,
- 50:52Speaker 4: it couldn't be any less.
- 50:53Speaker 12: Uh.
- 50:54Speaker 4: But you know, I don't know anybody who's undecided at
- 50:57Speaker 4: this point. I will say, but maybe something happen at
- 51:00Speaker 4: the debate time. My prediction if Trump tells lie after lie,
- 51:05Speaker 4: which you will, his base will say he won. And
- 51:09Speaker 4: if Harris goes back on the previous stances that she's
- 51:13Speaker 4: had for decades on certain policies, including the border, so
- 51:16Speaker 4: on and so forth, which she has done, then her
- 51:20Speaker 4: side's going to say that she won. I will say this,
- 51:23Speaker 4: I think Harris will perform much better because she is
- 51:27Speaker 4: a better speaker, she doesn't make up words, and she
- 51:31Speaker 4: is an old all things that Joe Biden were and
- 51:34Speaker 4: were accused of style points. As I said, I think
- 51:39Speaker 4: the edge goes to her. But I'll be watching tonight
- 51:43Speaker 4: and I'm sure you will be too. Dave Allen Show
- 51:45Speaker 4: and five that He Live brought to you part by
- 51:46Speaker 4: Morgan and Morgan. If you're injured, hi are Morgan to Moregon,
- 51:48Speaker 4: America's largest injury law firm, tex says Dave. Why is
- 51:52Speaker 4: Justice appointing all his rich friends to these boards? Why
- 51:55Speaker 4: not a hard working middle class person. Apparently someone who's
- 51:59Speaker 4: new to politics. Texas. Don't think I'm going overboard by
- 52:03Speaker 4: saying our country has turned its face on God and
- 52:06Speaker 4: the decline of our society shows it, says a texture. Uh, Texas,
- 52:11Speaker 4: call me old school. I'm jen x. I'm of the
- 52:13Speaker 4: mindset that fourteen year old's killing another person and don't
- 52:16Speaker 4: know why they did it has a lot to do
- 52:17Speaker 4: with everybody gets a trophy, hatred of hearing the word no,
- 52:21Speaker 4: and a lack of discipline in the home Texas day.
- 52:24Speaker 4: You may have mispoke Trump. People have their heads in
- 52:25Speaker 4: the sand, not in their heels, heels, head toe. You
- 52:30Speaker 4: know it's it's all very just said. They both work,
- 52:33Speaker 4: all right. We gotta go tomorrow on the show I'm
