- 0:40and beautiful, scripture journals, called seasons of
- 0:44soap. For those not familiar with
- 0:48soap. It stands for Sure, observation
- 0:52application and prayer. It's one of the many great ways
- 0:57to study and breakdown scripture in our daily lives.
- 1:03Today, we are going to chat about her trials.

- 1:19Thank you for being here. Here.
- 1:20Whoa, thanks for having me. This is so fun because I found
- 1:27you on Instagram. Actually, my daughter found you
- 1:29on Instagram and so many of us will see a product, but not
- 1:36really know the person behind the product.
- 1:40So I can't wait for all of us to meet the girl behind seasons of
- 1:46soap, journals, and dream planners.
- 1:48So I'd love for you to just two Share a brief backstory about
- 1:52yourself. And we'd love to hear, gosh, the
- 1:57trials that you face right before or even during you start
- 2:02starting these journals this business with the planners and
- 2:05everything else and what God did to you through this.
- 2:09Okay, so let's start from the beginning.
- 2:11I'll rewind, I'm from Alabama, small town, girl group on the
- 2:16Gulf Coast of Alabama and went to Auburn studied piano.
- 2:20ER, and ended up doing an internship in New York, lived
- 2:24there for 10 years and now I'm currently in Tennessee, raising
- 2:31my daughter. I have another baby on the way
- 2:34married to my lovely husband, Luke.
- 2:37So that's a little bit about me but I grew up as a Christian in
- 2:42the church. I guess in college.
- 2:45I kind of had that prodigal daughter journey of just I still
- 2:50loved God, I still loved Jesus. I just kind of put him in a box
- 2:54and allowed him to become kind of in his own little space where
- 3:01he didn't tell me what to do, and I live life and I wasn't
- 3:05really walking with him if that makes sense.
- 3:07And the journey went from seeking God, to seeking
- 3:12validation, to seeking romantic relationships, and whatever was
- 3:17kind of fun at the moment. And And moving to New York, it
- 3:20was kind of like a kid in a candy store.
- 3:23I eventually found the Lord again and started going to
- 3:27church in New York. My mom was like, I can't believe
- 3:30God's in the big city she'd praying and praying and praying
- 3:33for me. Yeah.
- 3:34To, to reconnect with God and I was really successful in my
- 3:40corporate career, in New York, I went from the pr space to
- 3:44digital marketing and grew up to become a senior sales director
- 3:48at a successful. A Tech company that has since
- 3:51been sold for over a billion dollars.
- 3:53So, very successful. Yeah, there's this.
- 3:55I was the 9th employee. And so fun watching these young
- 3:59guys, build this startup and grow into something that is
- 4:03truly, truly phenomenal. And I started Horatio printing
- 4:07while I was working at that, Ed tech company, it became kind of
- 4:11a side, hustle for about a year and a half and then I took the
- 4:14leap, but I guess really the Catalyst for me to start that
- 4:18business was Was I really hit a low point in my life, on the
- 4:23outside, I had the success, I had the network, I had a vivid
- 4:31nightlife in what a social life, so to speak.
- 4:36And my job was entertaining clients at night, taking them to
- 4:40dinners, and two shows. And, you know, just kind of the
- 4:44dream in a way and because I was everyone's Fun friend.
- 4:51I was overdoing it in many areas of my life and my spiritual life
- 4:56was completely devoid of depth, and obedience, and intimacy with
- 5:04God, and my spirit was just empty and crushed.
- 5:09And so, I heard a sermon by Erwin McManus, I guess it would
- 5:15have been in Late July called he was doing his book tour.
- 5:19Or for the Artisan Soul, his book, The Artisan soul and the
- 5:24concept is that we're all artists because we're all
- 5:27created in the image of God and God is so creative and it's in
- 5:31our human DNA to create and to design in our life, is our most
- 5:37important work of art. And if we don't take time to
- 5:40become the Artisan of our soul and our life, we're going to end
- 5:45up basically just doing whatever culture tells us to do and
- 5:48pursuing. Unity and all these different
- 5:51things that I was like, yep, that's me.
- 5:53And so at that moment, I just had this real turning point
- 5:57reading his book One Night in August, and I was like, you
- 6:01know, I've got to get my life together.
- 6:03I need to make a planner to do it.
- 6:05I'm a planar girl. Always been a stationary, girl,
- 6:08and I knew, I needed to make a planner and I wanted to make it
- 6:12not just a planner for anybody, but specifically for the
- 6:15Christian woman who loves beautiful, excellent things, And
- 6:20just make it gorgeous and because it's got inspired, it
- 6:23should be excellent. And so, I just started sketching
- 6:26it out that night. And through months later,
- 6:28Horacio printing was born. I was living on Horatio Street
- 6:33at this time and so that's where the name kind of was inspired
- 6:36by. And then after launching that,
- 6:38you know, one of the big Catalyst for growth in my life,
- 6:43it has been reading the Bible and I did a journey for Linton
- 6:47one year where I read the Gospels in 40 days.
- 6:51And then I just kept going. And then I went back and read
- 6:54the whole Old Testament. And it was just, I was so
- 6:57thirsty for the word, and so hungry for it.
- 7:00And one at it Church, they taught us how to do a soap Bible
- 7:04study. And I'm like, this is great but
- 7:06I want more prompts and so I decided to build a soap Bible
- 7:11study book. That is a beautiful thick paper,
- 7:14you can use your in t-pins. That's what I love.
- 7:16Is nice, thick art paper and I decided to make it a choose your
- 7:19own. Own adventure Through the Bible
- 7:21based on the season of life, you're going through.
- 7:24And so started with one volume and now we have four and that's
- 7:29been so great to hear the testimonies come in as people
- 7:32that are like, maybe new to the reading the Bible or, you know,
- 7:37maybe didn't really grow up knowing, you know, where to
- 7:40start where to begin. And it's just a great place.
- 7:42You can pick up and go. Okay, I'm feeling I'm feeling
- 7:45like I'm needing some peace and you can jump to the peace
- 7:48section. And pick a day and just go and
- 7:51it's something. You can also squeeze into a
- 7:54short period of time not that we always want to just, you know,
- 7:58put God in a 15-minute box but it's amazing what God can do
- 8:02with 15 minutes if you show up with the heart posture of
- 8:05wanting to hear from God, he can show up and he can really speak
- 8:09to you through scripture because Bible the Bible reads you as you
- 8:13read it. And so, that's been a passion of
- 8:16mine, is to get people addicted to reading the Well, because of
- 8:20how much it fills you, how much you can actually apply this old
- 8:24text to your life today in 2021 2022.
- 8:28And so, yeah, we started building those and put them in
- 8:32our first subscription box back in 2018 and been making them
- 8:37ever since. Oh, my gosh.
- 8:39Well as you know and I told you I absolutely love it.
- 8:43My daughter found you first on Instagram and then showed me
- 8:47these wonderful journals. And I bought volume one, she
- 8:51bought Volume 2 and it couldn't have come at a better time for
- 8:56me and we know that God has his perfect timing.
- 9:00The one I got it has the different seasons of purpose,
- 9:05wisdom, transition, anxiety, and joy.
- 9:09And I just so happen to go through one of the biggest
- 9:12transitions this Summer that I have since I moved here from
- 9:17Southern California to Austin. And of course, when you're going
- 9:21through transition, you're seeking wisdom, you're wanting
- 9:25more joy because you may seem a little bit down because
- 9:29obviously, with transition, there's a change in where
- 9:32there's a change, you're losing something to gain something new
- 9:36and so you're going through all these mixed emotions and then
- 9:40the enemy can attack you with question your purpose, you know?
- 9:44And so the purpose kind of reinforces like that was just
- 9:48such a Pump animation going through all that even though you
- 9:52know your purpose and the scripture that you have it's not
- 9:56just one scripture verse you have a passage and so it's a few
- 10:02scripture verses packed all together and I love that you're
- 10:08not. Just over it in a minute.
- 10:10You're really soaking in that passage because so many times
- 10:13when we read a verse, it could be so much more enriching if we
- 10:19See the surrounding verses around it and it really comes to
- 10:23life. So I love that.
- 10:25You got all the important stuff all together and not making it
- 10:29too long but not too short. So I love that we can just
- 10:34underline and highlight in the scripture part and then
- 10:39observation is just unraveling God's character and you just
- 10:46write down what you're learning about God and the A verse and of
- 10:50course, application is. How does this apply in my daily
- 10:53life? Like what can I take action in
- 10:57as I'm reading the scripture what do I need to do?
- 11:00And then prayer writing out prayers I have a scripture
- 11:05Journal myself that I just self-published and one of the
- 11:10ways that I love studying the Bible was the soap scripture,
- 11:15observation, application prayer and personalizing strip.
- 11:19Sure versus so those two things came to life with me and so I
- 11:24had a god dream of doing a journal with personalized,
- 11:28scripture verses and so anyway when I saw this, I was like, oh
- 11:34my gosh, this is like a second addition to what?
- 11:37I love, how I love studying the Bible so so fun.
- 11:41Yeah, I mean it's all about, renewing your mind and at the
- 11:44end of the day, we have to apply what we're learning or else
- 11:48nothing. Changes.
- 11:50You know, we were talking earlier before we click to
- 11:54record about, there's a fear section in the front of the soap
- 11:59and so they actually put some stuff from the dream planner
- 12:03into the soap in the hopes that somebody leads a Bible study at
- 12:07home, it's set up perfectly like if you wanted to go through a
- 12:12soap series with a group of girls at your house, you guys
- 12:16could take a little bit of your session and do something from
- 12:19I'm the front, whether it's a dream planning night, or a heart
- 12:23check night or a fear night or writing down the stuff from the
- 12:26front of the soap and the fear sections, really powerful
- 12:31because it's all about application of scripture.
- 12:34I was listening to a sermon a while back and the Pastor said
- 12:39he was dealing with all these fears and so what he did was he
- 12:43wrote down all of his fears and then he found a scripture to
- 12:46counteract in conquer it and sometimes we'll listen.
- 12:49To a sermon and were like, oh, what a great idea are like, man,
- 12:53that sermon was good. And I thought I'm putting that
- 12:56in my planner because I think we should all do it.
- 12:58And so, that means a lot of the things that are in my planner or
- 13:03in the soap. It's all from a sermon I heard,
- 13:05or like somebody teaching me something and I'm like, cool.
- 13:08Let's make a resource out of that.
- 13:09Like, I'm tired of reading stuff and hearing stuff and not having
- 13:13life transformation or not applying it.
- 13:16So, my big advice is like, apply?
- 13:18What you learn. How Can you apply it?
- 13:20Because if we just read it, I think there's just so much more
- 13:24fruit on the other side of like, applying, what you're learning.
- 13:28Oh, totally. I know.
- 13:30That was probably one of the first times I've actually
- 13:33written out fears, and it was so impactful, just to write it out.
- 13:39And then, like you said, apply a scripture verse towards that
- 13:43fear and also the heart chog purifying, your heart.
- 13:49And you sit remove the toxins, that's the header there, and I
- 13:55love how you broke it down to what do I need to, like, go of,
- 14:00who do I need to forgive? What fears are holding me back.
- 14:03I mean, just all these reflection questions that really
- 14:07make you think and get it all out and it's so unique.
- 14:13It's nothing I've ever seen before.
- 14:15So, I absolutely love it. So let's get Into what are the
- 14:21trials. I whenever we're launching or
- 14:25running something that's advancing God's kingdom.
- 14:28We're always going to get attacked.
- 14:29I know. It was awful right before.
- 14:32I was starting this podcast, it was just the enemy was attacking
- 14:35left and right, and you push through and it's So Glorious on
- 14:39the other side. But during it, it's challenging,
- 14:43it's hard. So I'd love to hear kind of the
- 14:45trials, the hardships, and what God did through.
- 14:49You do it through that and how you got to see his phenomenal
- 14:54miracles on the other side. So there's so many.
- 14:58I've been running this business for seven years now.
- 15:00So it's like how I think. I think you know trials are a
- 15:06part of life, right? Whether you're running a
- 15:08business or doing life period And I think like sometimes I
- 15:11think of it as like a circle like you're a circle and with
- 15:15what's inside that circle is what you can handle, right?
- 15:18What you've handled previously. Even if like thinking about
- 15:21working out, like there's a certain weight, you can max out
- 15:24on, right? And then all of a sudden
- 15:26something comes up that's outside of that circle.
- 15:29Like imagine a dart just gets hit right outside of that
- 15:32Circle. Well you're like I can't do.
- 15:34That like, that's out of my capacity and you have to stretch
- 15:39to reach that new thing. And then, guess what?
- 15:41Your you grown? And now, as things, hit inside
- 15:44of your circle for someone else, that's out of their capacity.
- 15:48But for you, you've, grown and grown, and it just takes time
- 15:52and growth. And so, there's a lot of things
- 15:54that have happened that have grown me through the trials, and
- 16:00I'm thankful for it, I'll go through a few of them when I
- 16:04first. First started my business.
- 16:05I think one of my biggest trials was in my head, my limiting
- 16:09belief of not being smart enough to run a company.
- 16:13I grew up just kind of thinking I was Dumb and I was bad at
- 16:19spelling. I was really bad at
- 16:20multiplication. Just did make good grades in
- 16:23school, until I really was peer pressured into like okay, I want
- 16:28to make better grades and not be the kid that's, you know, making
- 16:30the season D's. And when I Horatio printing.
- 16:35I was living on Horatio Street and when I finally got my LLC in
- 16:39the mail, I took it out to the street sign to like commemorate
- 16:43the moment and I held the piece of paper up to the street sign
- 16:47and I realized I had spelled Horatio wrong.
- 16:50Okay. And at that point planners are
- 16:52being printed the websites. Like halfway done, like our
- 16:55Instagram handles live, I was like oh my gosh I'm going to be
- 16:59the laughing stock like my whole family's going to laugh.
- 17:01Everyone that knows me will think it's hilarious.
- 17:04Reyes and I just was going to feel more done.
- 17:06It was just a solidifying that belief for me and that thought
- 17:10came in of who are you to start a business?
- 17:13Like, what are you thinking? You can, you can do this, you
- 17:16can even spell the name of your company, right?
- 17:17Like, how are you going to build products and, and, and do all
- 17:21the things you're supposed to do?
- 17:23Because it's there's so much unknown when you're starting a
- 17:25big new thing, and, you know that imposter syndrome of like
- 17:29I'm not capable, right? I was and I say imposter
- 17:33syndrome. Yeah.
- 17:34So I had to get over that. And it was, it was like, you
- 17:38know what, we're going to roll with it and like, God can use my
- 17:42mistakes, God can use my imperfection, I will boast about
- 17:47my imperfections, all the more because it's God that gets the
- 17:50glory. When we sold out in January,
- 17:52people bought Horatio printing with the see planner, they
- 17:55didn't care you know and since then right after that actually I
- 18:01was getting testimonies of people.
- 18:03I'm finally getting my It paid off.
- 18:05I'm finally going on that Holy tour, I'm finally doing that
- 18:07thing. I set up that trip with my
- 18:09grandmother. We went on that vacation
- 18:11together like people were pursuing their dreams and if I
- 18:15had let myself live in that limiting belief, right there
- 18:19were so many miracles on the other side of that for other
- 18:21people. And I got to celebrate with
- 18:24them. So that was a girly early one
- 18:27and it made you kind of think of wow like here I'm concentrating
- 18:32on this thetic so much That it's really all about what's on the
- 18:37inside of the book and what it's transforming, the hearts of
- 18:41those that are using it, you know?
- 18:44So, yeah. But it's a lot of money
- 18:47releasing perfectionism. Yes, releasing that.
- 18:51That's so critical. Yeah, to doing anything to
- 18:55moving forward in a dream and so I've had some other crazy
- 18:59things. I had somebody actually
- 19:01completely Jack my design. That was tough and not only did
- 19:07they Jack my design like we were friends like I knew the person
- 19:12and they had asked for my advice but did not, you know, I gave
- 19:16them some advice they were in a completely different Niche than
- 19:19me. So I was like, okay cool, we're
- 19:21not really competitors but then she stole my design and it was
- 19:26like yeah that's pretty unique, I think that's very, very
- 19:31recognizable and Not only the hard part, was she really
- 19:37succeeded? She did a, you know, a
- 19:39Kickstarter and it I think it made like over 100k in like
- 19:43three days and it was like ah you just leapfrogged over me in
- 19:49those early years and I felt so much bitterness swelling in a
- 19:54heart toxin, right? And I was pissed, to be honest.
- 19:58I was just upset and like, right you stole my design.
- 20:02You LeapFrog over me and my My husband said, well, this is your
- 20:06time to really be a Christian, you know, and forgive.
- 20:10And I was like, oh yeah. This is up right off the hard
- 20:14way. Yeah.
- 20:19And the thing that I was realizing is that Satan at.
- 20:23That moment was really trying to steal my joy and if State Satan
- 20:27can steal your joy, he can really take a lot of your
- 20:29creativity. Which is God, given any fears of
- 20:34I'll comparison and content to bitterness those heart.
- 20:38Toxins can steal your creativity and steal your essence of who
- 20:42you are. And so I had to do some real
- 20:47work and it was the day that it happened.
- 20:49I got a package in the mail. This is the miracle.
- 20:53I got a package in the mail from a guy that I had worked with,
- 20:58who was the founder of the tech companies to work for.
- 21:01And he said, you know, this book came out I'm out at are at
- 21:06Bethel, Bill Johnson's new book, and we had to pray over who to
- 21:10send a copy to. And we're sending one to you.
- 21:13The book was about strengthening yourself in the Lord, and
- 21:16fortifying your roots in him, and this book was just flooded
- 21:22with the power of God, and the power of praying in the spirit
- 21:27and, and like holding strong to your faith and connecting with
- 21:31God. And it was like, God was like,
- 21:34hey, Hey, yeah. I don't care if I don't look to
- 21:38the left or to the right. And I just got this word of
- 21:40like, stay in your lane, stay in your lane.
- 21:43I've got you, I know the path ahead for you.
- 21:46I know the plans for you. I know the pace that you're
- 21:49supposed to grow so that you grow and healthy pace.
- 21:54And I look back now, I think God, I didn't grow that fast
- 21:57when we grow so fast, so many mistakes are made.
- 22:01So many problems are had slow growth is something to
- 22:04celebrate. Great because you make a lot
- 22:06less Financial mistakes too. And so all these years later I'm
- 22:13still in business and God is good and God is faithful, and
- 22:16he's carried me through, but it's just, I really feel like
- 22:21when we pray for wisdom, which I'm an adamant fan of doing,
- 22:25God, delivers and the best ways he delivers is through people.
- 22:30I think God's greatest gifts are people one being Jesus, right?
- 22:34And so God brought all these people in my life to speak.
- 22:38Into me books that speak into me, obviously the Bible but I
- 22:44just was so grateful. And that moment of God's
- 22:46reminder that he has, he has me. And just a reminder that these
- 22:50toxic things in my heart, they're just a trick of the
- 22:55enemy and forgiveness is truly. The only way that I could live
- 22:59in that in the power of the Holy Spirit to continue to pursue my
- 23:03purpose. In my calling.
- 23:05And so that was a pretty cool Miracle on the other side of it.
- 23:08Tough going through it, but I'm happy.
- 23:11I went through it now. Do you still kind of, I always
- 23:15loved asking when I see a business I'm going.
- 23:19This is pretty successful. I mean, it's so gorgeous on
- 23:23YouTube. You'll be able to see the
- 23:25journal seasons of soap and the different volumes down here at
- 23:28the bottom and I'll leave a link also, so you guys can purchase
- 23:33these gorgeous journals. In Her Dream planners.
- 23:36But I love to ask people that you see on the outside outside.
- 23:42So successful this look is just an amazing product.
- 23:46People are growing hearts are being transformed.
- 23:49Do you get weary doing good? Like do you just ever go?
- 23:54Wow like I'm running this business and lives are being
- 24:01changed but I'm so tired. Or do you ever get maybe to that
- 24:07point where you want to give up, or does none of that ever cross
- 24:11your mind? Oh sure.
- 24:13Yeah, and that's normal, you know.
- 24:15Write it with anything you pursue.
- 24:18I think we like hearing that though it has.
- 24:20Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, absolutely.
- 24:23I've had people email me, like I want to buy.
- 24:25Horatio printing. I'm like how much you want to
- 24:27buy it for, you know? But like, but we're not for
- 24:32sale. But I mean, you can email me if
- 24:34you really Want to make a nice but I, you know, I know my
- 24:39calling is to help people pursue their dreams and grow in their
- 24:44connection with God and pursue their inner artist and I've seen
- 24:49the transformation in my life. And there is so much joy.
- 24:54I get from hearing the testimonies of dreamers and and
- 24:59doing this work and doing the creative work of writing, my
- 25:02Monday morning motivations. And creating new products and
- 25:06things. I'm excited to launch next year
- 25:09but I do get weary and that's one of the things I've been
- 25:12creating here recently is my Academy because I'm diving more
- 25:16into that area of really diving in deep with people to help them
- 25:22heal themselves because I believe the biggest dream we can
- 25:26have is becoming who you're called to become because you
- 25:30can't really dream healthy dreams if you are.
- 25:32So toxic like Urge you has scared dreams.
- 25:36Toxic. You has toxic dreams and we can
- 25:38get caught up on. What is this dream for me?
- 25:40Or did God give me this dream? Or is like this is selfish tree.
- 25:44I think it comes down to like, will house your heart, you know,
- 25:46like the status of your heart, you know, Above All Else, guard
- 25:51your heart, everything you do flows from it.
- 25:53So the health of your heart is so critical and getting people
- 25:57to remove strongholds and releasing from past experiences
- 26:03and pains and m' and fears of judgement fear of failure.
- 26:07And so I go deep with people in my Academy for the dream
- 26:10crafting course. And then I've recently launched
- 26:14my faith-filled business blueprint, which is a business
- 26:17course, and one of the big lessons I've learned in running
- 26:21the business is, if you are not careful and you don't pursue
- 26:25your health holistically, your business can become an idol or a
- 26:31burnout, you know, burden. And I've been there, I've been
- 26:35there where my time prioritization has been too much
- 26:42in the business, because it's what I like doing.
- 26:46It's what I could think I'm good at is what I get credit for if
- 26:50that makes sense. And so it's been a long journey
- 26:54of okay, I've got to have things in check.
- 26:57I've got to keep my spiritual life.
- 27:00Prioritize, I've got to keep my marriage prioritize throw in
- 27:03motherhood. Throw in all the other life
- 27:05transitions. We just moved into a new house.
- 27:07Two months ago, I've got a baby coming in six weeks.
- 27:10So I'm going through all sorts of transitions right now,
- 27:12creating a my paternity leave and I've got to make sure that
- 27:17I'm healthy. So I can run a healthy business
- 27:21and pursue a healthy dream and becoming who you're called to
- 27:24become is the most important dream we can pursue because it's
- 27:27the only way you can sustain the dream God gave you if your dream
- 27:33is to have a healthy day, Ridge. You have to pursue your health
- 27:38to show up in that marriage. If you want to have a thriving
- 27:41business, you have to be healthy as a CEO to run that business.
- 27:47And it's so easy for us to neglect ourselves specially,
- 27:50when you become a mom to. It's, everyone's needs over
- 27:53yours and we give, and we deplete ourselves, right?
- 27:59And so, that's been a big focus of mine.
- 28:03I've definitely hit see. Essence of complete burn out, or
- 28:07where it's been too high on my priority list and other things
- 28:11have really other balls of dropped.
- 28:13And and so now I'm in a place of really making sure my
- 28:19fundamental needs are met and I am giving things the priority
- 28:26time it deserves and and stewarding the blessings God's
- 28:29given me write this whole, this child, this marriage.
- 28:33And Myself my body, my health. So yeah, absolutely.
- 28:40I think we love hearing that and I just listen to one of your
- 28:44episodes. I forget who it was, but your
- 28:47guests said, don't let the world dictate your season, and oh my
- 28:55gosh, it was just like a few words but it made such an impact
- 28:59on me because I took normally I take a summer off.
- 29:04With podcasting. And then I just send out some of
- 29:08the previous ones to keep it going.
- 29:11But even this summer, God was like, hmm.
- 29:15I want you to be still, it means.
- 29:16Relax, don't do anything and just lean into me and have quiet
- 29:19time with me and so I had it in my mind.
- 29:24Oh, okay, for the summer and consoles, like didn't give me
- 29:28the go ahead on the green light when the summer was over.
- 29:32And so we ran into fall and Going.
- 29:35Oh my gosh, lord well not many podcasters, just take this time.
- 29:40This long of a time off like this is longer than a normal
- 29:44sabbatical and he was like, it doesn't matter.
- 29:49Just, you know, keep leaning into me and have the quiet time
- 29:52and I'll let you know when you're going to launch the next
- 29:55season. So that's when I was waiting to
- 29:58even see cuz every season, I just don't wanna Sue mah.
- 30:01God wanted me to do this again because I I know God is very
- 30:05seasonal and I know that he changes us and that when you
- 30:09know he wants to move us on you. Moved us on but I was waiting
- 30:14for that. Okay, you want me to continue
- 30:16this podcast so he he told me the word like yes, I want you to
- 30:21continue the podcast but so many of us think.
- 30:24Oh, right now. Okay, green light.
- 30:26Let's go. But it was like, no, not the
- 30:28right timing, just wait. And so I knew I was going to
- 30:32launch another season. It was just waiting on.
- 30:36Okay. When and so, I kept waiting,
- 30:40even though that side of me was like, oh gosh, you know, you may
- 30:46lose listeners. You this isn't what you do, like
- 30:49the world will tell you. This is so bad that you're
- 30:53taking this time off. And God was just kept telling me
- 30:58it was louder than the other voice.
- 31:00Thank goodness. I was just saying, just keep on
- 31:03pressing. Being in to me, you need to
- 31:05heal. You need to take the time to
- 31:08really make yourself whole before we launch this next
- 31:12season because of just the, the transition and emotions that I
- 31:17had to go through over the summer of some hardship that
- 31:20impacted my life and my family's life.
- 31:22And so, anyway, I really was thinking this is a big mistake.
- 31:30But God was saying, I make no mistakes and when I Just that
- 31:34next season. I was just so pumped Polly like
- 31:40the joy was overflowing, I had that fire burning inside like
- 31:46even I was I was winding down season for, you know, you start
- 31:49to get tired, you know, you're coming up on a summer break and
- 31:53so you just need that time off and I just love how God knows
- 31:58what you need more than, you know what you need.
- 32:01And it was just an amazing. Feeling getting back into it and
- 32:06having that fulfillment and that satisfying feeling of going.
- 32:10Okay. I'm so glad I took that three
- 32:13long months break because he's restoring my soul, he's filling
- 32:18me up again. He's got that fire burning of
- 32:21that passion back in me to produce these testimonies that
- 32:25these stories of who he is and his faithfulness.
- 32:29And it's just so important for us to get our stories out there.
- 32:33I mean, A wise started returning, which I think so many
- 32:38of us can lose those wise, you know, as we go along with our
- 32:42business, as we go along with our ministry, whatever the god
- 32:46dream. You forget the why?
- 32:48And it's so important to just be still and remember, having the
- 32:54Lord remind you of your why, why you are doing this.
- 32:58That's so true. And every time someone comes to
- 33:01me for like a dream that they're wanting to pursue, do we you
- 33:04have to start with the why? Because it could come from an
- 33:08unhealthy place. Like your y could be, if you
- 33:11look at the root of it, it could be toxic, it could be well,
- 33:14actually I saw some on Instagram and I won't want they have, you
- 33:17know, or if the why isn't big enough and larger than you
- 33:22without a, why a dream becomes a burden and burdens are
- 33:26abandoned. And so without that, why it's
- 33:30going to go away and so it's so critical with anything you do.
- 33:34To remember the wine testimonies obviously, or such a great way
- 33:38to inspire faith. I have a crazy one that happened
- 33:42in my business. The beginning of the pandemic, I
- 33:45was working with a new printer out of.
- 33:49It was a company in the u.s. that had a Korean printer.
- 33:53That was excited to print in Korea and try them out.
- 33:58And so, the founder came to my house at that time.
- 34:01I was When we first worked together, I was like nine months
- 34:06pregnant. He came to my house with my with
- 34:09my daughter and met me shook my hand, I was like cool, I can
- 34:12actually have a US Representative.
- 34:14This is great and we printed some soap, Bible studies, they
- 34:18came back, they looked great. I was like cool like let's work
- 34:23again. So the beginning of 2020.
- 34:26I was relaunching a subscription box and I had purchased from
- 34:33this The in 2019, like a lot of copies of this of the next
- 34:39volume of. So both I think it was vol.3
- 34:42that I was purchasing and along with some volume ones and twos
- 34:46because we were running out. And so I gave them a five
- 34:49thousand dollar deposit on my soaps and I was confirmed that
- 34:55everything would arrive by like February of 2020.
- 34:58And so there we are and I Keep checking in with them.
- 35:04Like, hey, when are we, you know, update update update long
- 35:07story short, that company was sold, the new owner fired, the
- 35:13old owner, and they took all the cash and they weren't paying any
- 35:17their printers and nobody's telling me anything, finally,
- 35:21some lady from the company calls me and she's like, hey, like you
- 35:24should probably like sue them. Like things aren't going good.
- 35:28Like wanted to let you know like what?
- 35:31Yeah, so turns out that I asked for my Todd's back.
- 35:34Okay, let's cancel this job and I immediately go back with my
- 35:37old printer. I wire them the money.
- 35:39And like five thousand dollars is not a small amount of money
- 35:42when it comes to inventory, like the cash on hand, the cash flow
- 35:47for inventory for future stuff. Like that wasn't something I had
- 35:50to lose, right? And that was only half the bill
- 35:54and so I was just in shock tears.
- 35:59I'm not going at this money bag. Should I?
- 36:01Sue? Oh my gosh.
- 36:02I don't have the Resources, what am I going to do?
- 36:05And I put a note on LinkedIn in desperation.
- 36:09Like and I didn't want to say like, hey, anybody know a
- 36:12lawyer, but I was like, hey, I worked with this company.
- 36:15I gave them a deposit. They won't return my phone calls
- 36:19anymore, they won't return my money and I didn't say I wasn't
- 36:25malicious in my post, but I was just telling the truth about
- 36:29what happened on that post, and The next day I got an email from
- 36:35this Sweet Home school company that said we prayed about it and
- 36:40we're going to send you a check for that amount of money.
- 36:44No questions asked, and they sent it down to the penny of the
- 36:48amount of money that I needed and they said we don't want any
- 36:51recognition. We don't want you just share who
- 36:54it was, which one, you know, that God's like for you.
- 36:57And I remember just falling on my knees and pray and just
- 37:00crying like Godlike, thank you. And, you know I was so thankful
- 37:07that the that person like felt a calling and like, was obedient
- 37:12to it, you know, to mean because I've been kind of my life where
- 37:15I felt a calling and I wasn't obedient, you know, and I made
- 37:18so many mistakes in my life. Like my first thought was me
- 37:22like, I get this. Like, I make mistakes left and
- 37:26right all day long. And so that was just this
- 37:29incredible miracle of God of him.
- 37:33Coming through in a way ultimately for his children
- 37:36because there were people that needed those soaps, you know.
- 37:39And so that's a beautiful miracle I wanted to share with
- 37:42your listeners. I love that.
- 37:45That is and I know there's many testimonies of getting these
- 37:49Anonymous checks, you know, they're just God's gift from
- 37:52heaven, from from above, I love it.
- 37:56So, at the end of each episode, I asked the guests if they could
- 38:01speak life with A takeaway for the listeners to just Ponder on
- 38:05when they're done. Listening, do you have any
- 38:09last-minute encouragement here? That you can tell us last been
- 38:14an encouragement to ponder? I love Ponder.
- 38:17I think the Ponder places where I like to hang out.
- 38:20So yeah, I would sit with the question of who do I want to
- 38:25become? I think that's probably one of
- 38:27the most important questions we can sit with We kind of know who
- 38:32we are right now and sometimes we end up in a place and we're
- 38:34like, how did I become this person or like?
- 38:37Yeah, how did I get here? You know, and it's like, well,
- 38:39where were you going? You know?
- 38:41And so, I think our schedule determines, who we become, where
- 38:46we spend our time and our focus and our energy.
- 38:49And so, if you want to see a change and transformation and
- 38:54specially in like a certain area of your life, who do you want to
- 38:58become in that area? You're feeling discouraged, and
- 39:02sit with that question, write it out.
- 39:06I know there's more and God has good things for you.
- 39:09He's an abundant God, he has more for you more, peace, more
- 39:12joy, more favored, more just blessings of intimacy of his
- 39:17love. And so that's a question.
- 39:19I would sit with today, is, who do I want to become?
- 39:23Yeah, more like him looks really.
- 39:26Yeah, I love it. Well, thank you Paulie.
- 39:30A. And for those of you listening,
