- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy, I'm
- 0:16Speaker 1: a former homemarketer. On today's episode, we are doing our
- 0:19Speaker 1: fourth installment of the Way Home season four Listener Mailbag,
- 0:22Speaker 1: and it is a long one, so we're going to
- 0:24Speaker 1: jump right into it. But the first thing we're going
- 0:26Speaker 1: to do is remind you that if you would like
- 0:28Speaker 1: to participate in future Listener Mailbag episodes, you can email
- 0:31Speaker 1: us hello at Girls Gonehollmark dot com or leave us
- 0:35Speaker 1: a voicemail nine four nine three two nine eight zero
- 0:37Speaker 1: nine zero. No, there's not a voicemail this week, just
- 0:40Speaker 1: a plethora of emails wampomp. We have gone ahead and
- 0:45Speaker 1: organized our episode in the same way we did last week,
- 0:47Speaker 1: a round subject rather than a round email writer inner,
- 0:51Speaker 1: although we are crediting everybody's comments just because I think
- 0:55Speaker 1: that makes more sense with this huge list of emails. Yeah,
- 0:58Speaker 1: and we can hit all the same topics without like
- 1:02Speaker 1: rebouncing back and forth. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, why don't
- 1:05Speaker 1: you start us off? Aaron writes in about quote the
- 1:08Speaker 1: one and bringing Tessa home. She writes, I think what
- 1:11Speaker 1: they mean is that nineteen eighty three Griffin. In nineteen
- 1:15Speaker 1: eighty three, Tessa jumped back to a year presumably the
- 1:19Speaker 1: eighteen hundreds, and are you guys writing all lit down?
- 1:23Speaker 1: And for some reason nineteen eighty three Griffin jumped back
- 1:29Speaker 1: to the future without her. Then, for some reason we
- 1:33Speaker 1: don't know, nineteen eighty three, Griffin was not able to
- 1:36Speaker 1: get back to Tessa because the pond takes you where
- 1:39Speaker 1: you need to go, not where you want to go.
- 1:41Speaker 1: So nineteen eighty three Tessa is stuck in the past,
- 1:44Speaker 1: and no eighteen hundred Landry with time traveling capabilities, is
- 1:50Speaker 1: able to get her back to the future. Okay, I
- 1:53Speaker 1: have a comment here. I feel like I've just set
- 1:56Speaker 1: her an ap math exam. So last week I admit
- 2:01Speaker 1: that I made a little bit of a mistake in
- 2:02Speaker 1: my understanding of the issue with bringing Tessa home. I
- 2:07Speaker 1: mishard what Kat was saying. I thought Kat was saying
- 2:11Speaker 1: that Griffin took her there, and then for some reason
- 2:14Speaker 1: Griffin wasn't able to bring her back. I thought he
- 2:17Speaker 1: went back and wasn't able to bring her back. And
- 2:19Speaker 1: then she was saying I can go bring her back
- 2:21Speaker 1: because I'm from her same timeline. I rewatched that scene.
- 2:24Speaker 1: That is not what she said. She just basically said
- 2:28Speaker 1: that the Landrries of that time were not able to
- 2:30Speaker 1: bring her back. Okay, so Griffin left her there. Obviously,
- 2:33Speaker 1: the eighteen hundred Landries couldn't bring Tessa back because they
- 2:36Speaker 1: can't travel forward. And so in lieu of Griffin going back,
- 2:39Speaker 1: now Kat thinks she's the one who needs to go
- 2:42Speaker 1: back and get Tessa. We got a lot of emails
- 2:45Speaker 1: to this effect. I may have confused people more. I
- 2:48Speaker 1: do understand what we're working with here, have you? I
- 2:51Speaker 1: think no? And honestly, I don't really care because I
- 2:54Speaker 1: think it's too complicated. M I care, guys, I care.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Please don't send her hate emails to me, because we
- 3:02Speaker 1: have a few of them. I care. It's just when
- 3:04Speaker 1: it gets too complicated, my brain cannot. Yeah, And how
- 3:09Speaker 1: much does it actually matter in the enjoyment of the series, exactly?
- 3:12Speaker 1: Like I don't need to understand one point twenty one
- 3:14Speaker 1: jigawats to enjoy Marty McFly exactly, And I just want
- 3:20Speaker 1: to enjoy the series. I don't want to have to
- 3:22Speaker 1: try to figure it out. It's not a race to
- 3:24Speaker 1: figure it out. That's true, that's true, but we do
- 3:27Speaker 1: have for episodes that we need to recap. Yeah, that's fine, Okay,
- 3:30Speaker 1: no problem to mean that. And it's like watching a mystery.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I'm not actually all that interested in solving the mystery,
- 3:35Speaker 1: nor am I ever going to solve those mystery movies
- 3:37Speaker 1: ahead of time? Jen writes in and she says, what
- 3:40Speaker 1: if the One is the one who brings Tessa through
- 3:44Speaker 1: the Pond? I think most of us have been thinking
- 3:46Speaker 1: about the One in terms of guarding the pond or
- 3:50Speaker 1: changing time travel, but what if it is particular to
- 3:53Speaker 1: Tessa and Fern's history. There's a thought. Jen also says,
- 3:57Speaker 1: none of the Landrys from eighteen nine, twenty two, or
- 4:00Speaker 1: whatever a year it was until the nineteen twenties can
- 4:03Speaker 1: bring her back to nineteen eighty three because they cannot
- 4:06Speaker 1: jump to the future. Tessa needs either Griffin or whomever
- 4:11Speaker 1: she jumped with, or another nineteen eighty three or later
- 4:14Speaker 1: Landry to bring her back to her timeline. And me
- 4:17Speaker 1: Alyssa wrapping up this category rights, I'm starting to think
- 4:21Speaker 1: that the one Fern keeps repeating is Alice's last name, Dewan.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Everybody keeps mentioning that she says, but you're not a boy.
- 4:31Speaker 1: This seems like a red herring misunderstanding that the show
- 4:33Speaker 1: is known for all good thoughts. Let's talk Tessa. Y'all
- 4:37Speaker 1: had lots of thoughts about Tessa. Jen says, Tessa seems
- 4:40Speaker 1: too interested in the Landryes nineteen seventy nine. Fern is correct,
- 4:43Speaker 1: Tessa wants to marry into the Landry family. I'm also
- 4:46Speaker 1: wondering if Tessa is lying about not knowing Fern in
- 4:48Speaker 1: nineteen seventy nine and she has already done some time
- 4:51Speaker 1: travel and has met Fern before. Jen also says, maybe
- 4:55Speaker 1: she's a coil. Basically, give her the backstory that everyone thought.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Slash thinks about Jasper Thomas passed down the legend of
- 5:01Speaker 1: the White Witch time travel Inport Haven. Michelle says, what
- 5:06Speaker 1: if that matching handwriting in the almanac and Elligott's letter
- 5:09Speaker 1: isn't Tessa's. What if it's Griffin covering Tessa's tracks because
- 5:13Speaker 1: he left her in the wrong era and can't get
- 5:15Speaker 1: her back. What if one of our main characters, Alice,
- 5:17Speaker 1: cat or Jacob are actually who took Tessa to the
- 5:19Speaker 1: nineteen twenties and left her there. She also says, is
- 5:24Speaker 1: Tessa Cassandra the goodwind Sister, or did Tessa masquerade at
- 5:29Speaker 1: some point as cat Aka the White Witch. Brittany says
- 5:33Speaker 1: Tessa seems lost even in the late seventies. She seems
- 5:35Speaker 1: to not quite know where she came from and envies
- 5:37Speaker 1: those who have deep roots and feels she doesn't belong.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I bet when Kat finds Tessa, she won't want to
- 5:44Speaker 1: return to the present, and she says, did she marry
- 5:48Speaker 1: Vic just to get access to the Augustine home. It's
- 5:50Speaker 1: looking that way, but I don't want it to look
- 5:52Speaker 1: that way. Vic said. Tessa went through the entire house,
- 5:55Speaker 1: making it at home. It sounds like she was looking
- 5:57Speaker 1: for the clock and didn't find it because she only
- 5:59Speaker 1: had a vague clue. That's interesting. M Finally we see
- 6:05Speaker 1: calculating behavior from Tessa, who steals from the more naive
- 6:08Speaker 1: coil of the series. I wanted to be a misunderstanding,
- 6:11Speaker 1: but she doesn't appear desperate here, and she seems to
- 6:13Speaker 1: be manipulating Alice too. Francisco says something's up with Tessa.
- 6:18Speaker 1: She's too nosy, and honestly, she seems like the type
- 6:20Speaker 1: of person who'd snoop in your medicine cabinets, and Aaron says,
- 6:25Speaker 1: the handwriting cat is claiming as Tessa's, but we don't
- 6:28Speaker 1: know if we're sure that it's Tessa's. We just know
- 6:30Speaker 1: that it belongs to ever wrote the letter. Was the
- 6:32Speaker 1: letter written by Tessa or is it written by someone
- 6:34Speaker 1: else that wrote down what they know Tessa wanted them
- 6:37Speaker 1: to say? The only other letter we have of quote
- 6:40Speaker 1: hers is typewritten. Yeah. That's what's frustrating with some of
- 6:45Speaker 1: these episodes is they make these like leaps, yes, like
- 6:48Speaker 1: they think they're fact, but we don't know for sure
- 6:50Speaker 1: if they are fact or not, and then we just
- 6:52Speaker 1: start to accept this yact exactly. M hmm, exactly. Do
- 6:56Speaker 1: you have any other thoughts about Tessa? No, my head hurts.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Let's talk about Fern. Okay, Brittany wrote in and writes,
- 7:04Speaker 1: I suspect an older Tessa befriended a younger Fern. Fern
- 7:09Speaker 1: possibly believes that she's protecting Tessa, but later believes she
- 7:12Speaker 1: was mistaken in their friendship when she becomes furious with
- 7:15Speaker 1: a younger Tessa. Mmmm. Is this explaining why Fern flips
- 7:21Speaker 1: out when she sees that young Tessa. Yeah, maybe there's
- 7:24Speaker 1: betrayal in her past. Oh yeah, perhaps. Brittany also wrote,
- 7:28Speaker 1: Grayson Goodwin is not just her fiance but also her
- 7:32Speaker 1: boss and her landlord. If they were to get married,
- 7:35Speaker 1: he would inherit landry farms. What other powers does he
- 7:39Speaker 1: have over her? It seems like it could potentially be
- 7:41Speaker 1: a very toxic relationship. Yeah. Hm, I would agree that
- 7:47Speaker 1: we do not know enough about Grayson at this point
- 7:50Speaker 1: because Ern in that last episode she said it's not Grayson, like,
- 7:53Speaker 1: he's not the one responsible, he's not working with the
- 7:55Speaker 1: Augie Boys all of that. But is she covering for him? Is?
- 8:00Speaker 1: Does she not know? I think Fern's a very unreliable narrator. Hmm.
- 8:05Speaker 1: She's always putting on an act. Yeah, Aaron writes, and
- 8:08Speaker 1: young Fern said that she's the song Tainted Love for
- 8:11Speaker 1: as long as she can remember, so obviously somebody taught
- 8:14Speaker 1: it to her, maybe Tessa, Maybe Tessa. Francisco writes in
- 8:20Speaker 1: as far as Fern goes, she came across to the
- 8:23Speaker 1: average person as someone who was sundowning, so she can
- 8:26Speaker 1: really avoid suspicion unintentionally that way. Oh that's interesting, Yeah,
- 8:31Speaker 1: So do the listeners know what sundowning is? I don't know.
- 8:34Speaker 1: It's only a term I've recently learned. My understanding is
- 8:38Speaker 1: that it's a person who is maybe experiencing some form
- 8:42Speaker 1: of dementia. It's worse in the afternoon. That's why they
- 8:46Speaker 1: call it sundowning and things. They get more confused and
- 8:50Speaker 1: agitated during that time period. So Francisco thinkstat Fern is
- 8:55Speaker 1: putting that on potential. I'll say people will ever stop
- 8:58Speaker 1: asking questions, all right. I have some thoughts from Alyssa
- 9:01Speaker 1: about the baby by the pond. Alyssa says, I'm starting
- 9:04Speaker 1: to think that the scene of two people leaving the
- 9:06Speaker 1: baby by the pond is not Tessa leaving Elliott, but
- 9:08Speaker 1: another event of a baby being left by the pond.
- 9:12Speaker 1: If we look at the cellab out of the person
- 9:13Speaker 1: writing the letter, it's clearly a woman with long, black, wavy,
- 9:16Speaker 1: curly hair. From what we've seen of Elliott's mom, she
- 9:19Speaker 1: has brown, straight hair, but we've seen Alice after being
- 9:21Speaker 1: in the pond, have wavy hair. Additionally, the person that
- 9:25Speaker 1: jumps with the letter writer has short brown hair. We
- 9:28Speaker 1: are led to believe it's Griffin, but I think it's
- 9:30Speaker 1: probably Casey, who has shoulder length brown hair. I'm willing
- 9:38Speaker 1: to accept that it's not Tessa jumping in the pond.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Are you willing to accept that it's not Elliott who's
- 9:45Speaker 1: the baby in the basket? Not at this point, like
- 9:48Speaker 1: there's two babies that were left on the banks of
- 9:50Speaker 1: the pond. Yeah, I'm not ready to make the jump,
- 9:53Speaker 1: but I am willing to accept that maybe it wasn't
- 9:56Speaker 1: Tessa in that moment. Elyssa also says it could be
- 10:00Speaker 1: the reason that Fern made up the story of who
- 10:02Speaker 1: the father of her baby is, it's because she doesn't
- 10:05Speaker 1: actually know. I'm thinking that if the scene by the
- 10:08Speaker 1: pond is a separate baby being left by the pond,
- 10:11Speaker 1: it could be that Fern found that baby and adopted it.
- 10:16Speaker 1: But if Fern is a Landry, how does the Landry
- 10:20Speaker 1: bloodline continue if she adopts a baby unless there's additional
- 10:25Speaker 1: babies in fallsd Yeah, I don't know. There are some
- 10:29Speaker 1: Casey theories coming in. Are you interested in hearing them?
- 10:32Speaker 1: I am? I mean, I don't am Casey theories. It's
- 10:35Speaker 1: I think four and four episodes generates and maybe somehow
- 10:38Speaker 1: Tessa and Casey met when they were more or less
- 10:42Speaker 1: the same age and became friends. Casey tells Tessa about
- 10:45Speaker 1: time travel and that they can take her to Griffin. Maybe.
- 10:51Speaker 1: At some point, Tessa does find Griffin and Casey leaves them.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Tessa and Griffin get married and have a kid who
- 10:57Speaker 1: will become Casey. H I feel like now we're venturing
- 11:02Speaker 1: into fanfic. Oh don't you think so? There has been
- 11:07Speaker 1: a lot of talk about case recently because of this
- 11:10Speaker 1: last episode, and one of the theories is further down
- 11:14Speaker 1: in this discussion. Okay, jenerates and my number one theory
- 11:17Speaker 1: is still Casey is from further down the timeline, so
- 11:20Speaker 1: can be all three bloodlines, meaning they're in Augustine, a Goodwin,
- 11:25Speaker 1: and a Landry and that's way down the way down
- 11:29Speaker 1: the time. M Okay, wow, Alyssa writes, the woman at
- 11:33Speaker 1: the bar feels like she might be Jacob's future wife
- 11:36Speaker 1: and potentially the mother of case. I think Casey is
- 11:39Speaker 1: Jacob's child. In season three, he told Elliott that he
- 11:42Speaker 1: wants to have a wife and children, so this feels
- 11:44Speaker 1: like a continuation of that. Aaron says. The random girl
- 11:48Speaker 1: at the bar talking to Jacob looks strikingly similar to case.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I don't take much stock in actors appearances because it
- 11:56Speaker 1: has to just do with casting. But if that's the
- 11:58Speaker 1: case they're trying to build, or maybe they're throwing out
- 12:01Speaker 1: a red herring, it's very convincing. If the argument against
- 12:06Speaker 1: that is the ring around Casey's neck, Alice could have
- 12:09Speaker 1: gifted her ring to Jacob if he was wanting to
- 12:12Speaker 1: propose but didn't have the means to buy a ring.
- 12:15Speaker 1: So I have a couple of comments about that scene
- 12:16Speaker 1: in the bar with the woman, the blowhard man and
- 12:19Speaker 1: the woman and Jake have a little bit of a connection.
- 12:23Speaker 1: We were like, who's that woman. She's not in the credits,
- 12:26Speaker 1: and as of the end of that episode, she was
- 12:29Speaker 1: not listed on IMDb. And then the day after we
- 12:32Speaker 1: recorded that episode, I texted Wendy because Spencer Macpherson posted
- 12:36Speaker 1: a picture with his wife and I was like, oh
- 12:38Speaker 1: my gosh, is this the same woman? And I sent
- 12:40Speaker 1: it to Wendy and you were like maybe. And I mean,
- 12:43Speaker 1: in the heat of the moment, DMed Spencer and I
- 12:46Speaker 1: was like, wait a minute, is your wife in this episode?
- 12:48Speaker 1: He was like, Oh my gosh, I haven't seen the episode,
- 12:50Speaker 1: but did she sneak in because she was on set
- 12:52Speaker 1: that day? And I was like, oh, this is not her,
- 12:54Speaker 1: and so I explained he goes, oh, He's like, that's
- 12:57Speaker 1: a great actress. Her name is Holly Devaux and he
- 13:00Speaker 1: said something like fun things are coming. Oh. Then spoiler.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Alexandra Clark had posted an image of the bar and
- 13:10Speaker 1: I was like, I need to know who was in
- 13:12Speaker 1: the bar. M Alexandra Clark commented, Oh, there are a
- 13:17Speaker 1: couple of people who are pretty significant at that bar.
- 13:21Speaker 1: So there has been a lot of speculation that the
- 13:24Speaker 1: woman in the bar is either a future Casey or
- 13:29Speaker 1: the mother of Casey somehow related to the character of Casey. Okay,
- 13:33Speaker 1: that's interesting. That's some people are like, is it Claire.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Obviously that doesn't make sense. Yeah. Now I'm thinking about
- 13:39Speaker 1: their conversation. It was they were calling each other like
- 13:41Speaker 1: old soul or something. Are they calling each other old
- 13:44Speaker 1: soul something along those lines, yes, yeah, But the vibes
- 13:47Speaker 1: I got between them were like romantic, romantic, and not
- 13:51Speaker 1: like that's not a paternal one. No no, no, no,
- 13:54Speaker 1: no no. Nobody was saying that that's his child. Okay,
- 13:57Speaker 1: they were suggesting it was a romantic interest. Okay, depending
- 14:00Speaker 1: on who that person is, they're of the same age.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Who are the couple other people in the bar that
- 14:06Speaker 1: are significant, Well, the woman is one of them, and
- 14:08Speaker 1: I don't know if the man is significant or is
- 14:11Speaker 1: she talking about Thomas In that case, I don't know.
- 14:14Speaker 1: That's all we saw in the bar. That's always ever
- 14:16Speaker 1: saw anybody else in the bar. So it's one of
- 14:18Speaker 1: those two. Oh, let's take it back break and we're
- 14:20Speaker 1: gonna come right back to talk more of your theories
- 14:23Speaker 1: about the way home. Let's talk about the clock and
- 14:34Speaker 1: the piano. Chris says, my new theory is that the
- 14:36Speaker 1: clock might allow someone who's not a Landry to time travel,
- 14:38Speaker 1: but probably only at eleven eleven. Oh, I like that idea.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Chris also sent in a screenshot, and this was a
- 14:47Speaker 1: screenshot that Sadie La Flame Snow had posted of the
- 14:50Speaker 1: lyrics to the song that Alice and Colton sing together,
- 14:56Speaker 1: and Chris said, I'm particularly focused on that third verse,
- 15:00Speaker 1: which says, so I just breathe, hope the water brings
- 15:03Speaker 1: you back to me. Oh no, and I always sing
- 15:05Speaker 1: it okay, And I wish for this wish to come true.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Let the water bring me back to you. The theory
- 15:14Speaker 1: about the clock allowing someone who's not a landry to
- 15:17Speaker 1: time travel talking about the water bringing me back to you.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Chris thinks that's particularly significant. Oh, I thought the significance
- 15:25Speaker 1: was a wish for this wish to come true. And
- 15:28Speaker 1: we talked about wishes at eleven eleven. Yeah, maybe it's
- 15:30Speaker 1: all tied, but but there's something there. I think I
- 15:34Speaker 1: think there's something there too. I think the song has meaning.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Aaron says the piano key. Yeah, show never makes a
- 15:40Speaker 1: note of something if it won't possibly be relevant some
- 15:43Speaker 1: other time. What's making the piano key stick something hidden
- 15:47Speaker 1: inside of the piano. Is that the piano from the
- 15:50Speaker 1: speakeasy joint that is now in the landry? Ow love that.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I noticed that too. Elliot's like, oh, yeah, you're the
- 15:59Speaker 1: key is sticky. We didn't mention it at all. We didn't.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I remembered it when we got this email. You want
- 16:05Speaker 1: to talk about the almanac? Okay? Aaron Wrights? Why capital
- 16:10Speaker 1: w h hy was Elijah so concerned about losing the
- 16:15Speaker 1: almanac and the fire to the point that he risked
- 16:18Speaker 1: Jacob's life to get it back? What power does that
- 16:20Speaker 1: thing wield? It was literally a pamphlet in the eighteen
- 16:24Speaker 1: fourteen slash sixteen storyline. They could have just gotten another
- 16:27Speaker 1: and rewritten it, unless the almanac holds some sort of
- 16:31Speaker 1: untold power. Hmm. Michelle writes Jacob left the past sometime
- 16:36Speaker 1: in the early eighteen hundreds. Tessa must have been at
- 16:39Speaker 1: the Landry farm when Elijah's son Jacob died in the
- 16:42Speaker 1: late eighteen hundreds. In order to have written the date,
- 16:46Speaker 1: she must have met the Landrys and buried her suitcase
- 16:49Speaker 1: at that time. She buried her suitcase in the eighteen hundreds,
- 16:52Speaker 1: she had like a driver's license that she brought with
- 16:55Speaker 1: her from right. Oh, yeah, it was kind of hidden. Hmmm.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I mean as hidden as you can get. Yeah. Michelle
- 17:04Speaker 1: also writes the Jacob Landry whose death was listed in
- 17:07Speaker 1: the family record was the grandson of Elijah, the founding father.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Elijah's son William, who grew up with our Jacob as
- 17:16Speaker 1: his older adopted brother, named his son the one listed
- 17:20Speaker 1: in the record after him. This means both Jacobs were
- 17:23Speaker 1: named after each other. Question mark, that's interesting. That's weird,
- 17:29Speaker 1: super weird. Let's talk about Nick. Brittany says Nick found
- 17:33Speaker 1: out about time travel from Elliott's journal, and he has
- 17:36Speaker 1: had an entire year to stew about real time travel,
- 17:39Speaker 1: so him being excited to actually go does not seem
- 17:42Speaker 1: at all out of character for him. To me, he
- 17:44Speaker 1: probably feels like a goony and Marty McFly and Bruce
- 17:47Speaker 1: Lee or the Karate Kid all wrapped into one. I
- 17:51Speaker 1: have some thoughts about Nick that we'll hear in this
- 17:52Speaker 1: week's episode. Alyssa says when Kat was saying she was
- 17:55Speaker 1: going back to the twenties, Alice said it wasn't safe,
- 17:57Speaker 1: and Nick volunteered to go. I loved when he said
- 17:59Speaker 1: I'm going into the time machine again. It brought some
- 18:02Speaker 1: comedy into the episode. Jen says, I'm really hoping that
- 18:05Speaker 1: the writers of the show just want someone besides Elliott,
- 18:07Speaker 1: Dell or Alice to travel with Kat to spell things
- 18:09Speaker 1: out for the audience since she is no longer trusting Fern.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Nick is good at being the person to ask for
- 18:15Speaker 1: recaps and get things spelled out. You guys are onto
- 18:18Speaker 1: something here, and Brittany says, I was glad to see Nick,
- 18:21Speaker 1: but I'm sure we won't be seeing much of him
- 18:22Speaker 1: anymore very soon. He either gets trapped in the past
- 18:25Speaker 1: and stays with Fern, or he's one of the five
- 18:26Speaker 1: good Men. Who goes into the tunnels, Is he going
- 18:30Speaker 1: to be the one who doesn't come out? Well, if
- 18:32Speaker 1: he doesn't come out, then he's But then he'd be
- 18:35Speaker 1: dead in the future. No, not now though, like he'd
- 18:39Speaker 1: be dead after what we've seen him. But he's not
- 18:42Speaker 1: going to go back and eliminate like if twenty twenty
- 18:45Speaker 1: six Nick goes to the past, it's not going to
- 18:47Speaker 1: like erase him like a photo if he dies in
- 18:49Speaker 1: the past Marty McFly style. Yeah, it doesn't seem to
- 18:51Speaker 1: work that way. Okay. Speaking of the tunnels and the explosion,
- 18:55Speaker 1: five went in, four came out five. When Brittany writes
- 19:03Speaker 1: someone gets shot by someone with Grace and Goodwin's gun,
- 19:08Speaker 1: Inspector Caine seems dissatisfied with his job and wants to
- 19:11Speaker 1: do a big bust. He, like Nick, is looking for
- 19:14Speaker 1: some excitement. Brittany also writes, it also seems odd that
- 19:19Speaker 1: Fern can just pay bail for someone who has no
- 19:22Speaker 1: identity when bail is supposed to be set for people
- 19:24Speaker 1: with upcoming court dates. I mean, look, Inspector Caine is
- 19:28Speaker 1: just running this whole operation by himself, so he's probably like, whatever,
- 19:31Speaker 1: take cut off my hands. Yeah, He's like, I kind
- 19:34Speaker 1: of have a sauce spot for Fern, so she can
- 19:36Speaker 1: just do whatever she wants. Yeah, bigger fish to fry
- 19:38Speaker 1: here with these Augie brothers. See mm hm tap tap
- 19:45Speaker 1: cigar out of the side of my mouth like a
- 19:47Speaker 1: cartoon villain. Dan jknot nothing but love, Jacob, let's talk, Jacob.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Francisco says, Oh, Jacob, he's imagining Thomas, go back to
- 19:58Speaker 1: where you came from. Thomas, pot your tongue. Franc Lets go,
- 20:01Speaker 1: Francisco that you were on our side, and doesn't seem
- 20:03Speaker 1: to realize him being away isn't doing the family any good.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I wish Elliot had slapped him across the face like
- 20:09Speaker 1: Vito Corleone did to Johnny Fontana and the Godfather. All
- 20:13Speaker 1: Jacob does is wine, Francisco. They're gonna come for you
- 20:16Speaker 1: next week's emails. Yeah, if you're please in the subject
- 20:20Speaker 1: line right in regard to Francister, so we know that
- 20:24Speaker 1: it's not directed at us, because Jack, he did not change.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Jacob is dealing with a lot of trauma. He has
- 20:32Speaker 1: caused his family a lot of anguish. But I have
- 20:35Speaker 1: a needle point project that says, are you mad at me?
- 20:37Speaker 1: I can understand Jacob being like, they don't they don't
- 20:40Speaker 1: need me, like I'm hurting them. Yeah, it can definitely
- 20:43Speaker 1: understand any Agram nine's man pov Alyssa says, Finally, Elliott
- 20:48Speaker 1: from season one makes a rare appearance. He apologized to
- 20:51Speaker 1: Dell and went to have a heart to heart with
- 20:53Speaker 1: Jacob about coming home. I don't love that we had
- 20:55Speaker 1: to browbeat him into being the old Elliot by reminding
- 20:58Speaker 1: him of Dell's losses Jacob missed twice and the miscarriagees
- 21:01Speaker 1: she had before Kat to do it. Brittany says the
- 21:04Speaker 1: bits with Jacob hallucinating were interesting. Hopefully this foreshadows Jacob's
- 21:08Speaker 1: returned to Port Haven. Now, do you consider him hallucinating
- 21:12Speaker 1: or is it kind of like No, I think it's
- 21:14Speaker 1: like if you were talking to yourself. Yeah, like Thomas
- 21:17Speaker 1: is the reflection of like, maybe not the reflection of yourself,
- 21:20Speaker 1: but the angel on your shoulder, the devil's advocate, so
- 21:24Speaker 1: to speak, the alternate perspective, And it's fun for us
- 21:27Speaker 1: to see Thomas again. Yeah, like you said, I don't
- 21:29Speaker 1: think it would hold any weight to it if he
- 21:32Speaker 1: was just talking to some random like looking at himself
- 21:35Speaker 1: in the mirror. You look at himself talking to some
- 21:36Speaker 1: random bar manager or some random customer. Yeah, that the
- 21:40Speaker 1: bar patron who's in there getting a drink. And Jacob's like, yeah,
- 21:44Speaker 1: I can't go home, and he's like, well, maybe your
- 21:46Speaker 1: mom misses you. Like that's yeah, doesn't have any meaning.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Let's talk about Dell and Sam. Alyssa writes, I don't
- 21:54Speaker 1: love that Dale torpedoed her relationship with Sam because of
- 21:57Speaker 1: Nick's dad. Julian is smarmy and fake. When she was
- 22:01Speaker 1: saying that Sam doesn't care Slash fight for the relationship,
- 22:05Speaker 1: I was thinking, maybe he just trusts you and doesn't
- 22:08Speaker 1: have to worry that you cheat on him. How do
- 22:11Speaker 1: you feel? Do you feel like bad for Sam that
- 22:15Speaker 1: Delle kind of like blew up their spot. I didn't
- 22:18Speaker 1: think Sam had done anything wrong me neither. I didn't
- 22:22Speaker 1: find him to be I said this in the episode.
- 22:23Speaker 1: I didn't find him to be taking advantage of her.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I think being comfortable in a relationship and not getting
- 22:29Speaker 1: up and being like that's my lady, move on over
- 22:32Speaker 1: Julian Gole's baby. I want right, yes, just somebody that
- 22:36Speaker 1: he just wants to hang out with her I think
- 22:38Speaker 1: Dell was being self destructive. Totally Francisco, guys, Guys, again
- 22:45Speaker 1: for Francisco, those emails, He writes, Dell's annoying. Heaven forbid
- 22:50Speaker 1: two older people can be comfortable what she want from
- 22:53Speaker 1: Sam constant knights on the town to the two restaurants
- 22:57Speaker 1: in town? Are there two either too? I feel like
- 23:01Speaker 1: I've only seen one, you know, only been to the point.
- 23:03Speaker 1: If I were Sam, I say, I'm too old for
- 23:05Speaker 1: this high school drama piece. I man, I kind of
- 23:09Speaker 1: feel bad for Sam a little bit, you know, of course.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I mean, is Dell the only plan in town? No Rita, Dell, Sam,
- 23:16Speaker 1: Rita's available, baby. I just feel like this is like
- 23:19Speaker 1: that manufactured drama we get there from young girls who
- 23:22Speaker 1: are always like, we're gonna fight about this. Yeah, yeah,
- 23:26Speaker 1: this is not a real fight. Yeah, Brittane writes, Dell
- 23:29Speaker 1: is reliving her own trauma, and so is Stormy. She's
- 23:33Speaker 1: trapped in grief cycle and everyone's leaving her again. Wait
- 23:37Speaker 1: Stormy the horse. Yes, because Stormy is traumatized by the
- 23:42Speaker 1: by the rock, by the woods, the path to the pond.
- 23:46Speaker 1: This freaking horse, I'm telling you, guys, freaking horse O
- 23:49Speaker 1: kidd o, gee, are you ready? Let's talk about Elliott.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Brittany says, I very much disagree that he should be
- 23:56Speaker 1: dealing with any of this maturely, especially since he doesn't
- 23:58Speaker 1: have anyone to give him counseling or even good parenting,
- 24:02Speaker 1: which he should have had a very long time ago,
- 24:05Speaker 1: considering all the trauma and the revelations tied to that trauma.
- 24:09Speaker 1: An emotionally abusive dad, a selfish mom who left an
- 24:12Speaker 1: unstable home life, the shock of Alice killing his dream
- 24:15Speaker 1: of being the only person who never left him, so
- 24:18Speaker 1: huge abandonment issues which never got addressed. I mean that's
- 24:24Speaker 1: super fair. I think so too. Brittany says, part of
- 24:27Speaker 1: Elliott is just wanting what any guy wants, a wife,
- 24:29Speaker 1: a family, and to feel secure emotionally in a stable
- 24:32Speaker 1: home life. But Kat is not a band aid, and
- 24:34Speaker 1: getting married and having children won't fix his issues. That
- 24:39Speaker 1: is true too. I yeah, totally agree with that. Cindy says,
- 24:44Speaker 1: I don't understand by so many people are making fun
- 24:47Speaker 1: of Elliott this season. I felt like I was listening
- 24:49Speaker 1: to middle schoolers. I've seen several interviews with Evan Williams,
- 24:53Speaker 1: and you can tell how hard he works to portray
- 24:55Speaker 1: Elliott and tell his story all throughout the series, and
- 24:58Speaker 1: especially this final season. It makes my heart hurt that
- 25:02Speaker 1: all these people are mocking the character when Evan was
- 25:05Speaker 1: so excited for people to see his story and work
- 25:07Speaker 1: this season. That's we talked about this particular comment before
- 25:14Speaker 1: we started recording, and I think I think there's two
- 25:16Speaker 1: important things. One, the actor is not the character. Not
- 25:21Speaker 1: liking a character doesn't mean we don't have the most
- 25:24Speaker 1: respect for Evan William totally. The other thing is not
- 25:28Speaker 1: all characters are meant to be unflawed, and sometimes the
- 25:33Speaker 1: only way we can see the growth of a character
- 25:36Speaker 1: is by noticing their flaws. And I think it's okay
- 25:41Speaker 1: for Elliott to have a lot of growth, and I
- 25:44Speaker 1: think people might be pleasantly surprised by Elliott in the
- 25:47Speaker 1: next episode of The Way Home. Yeah, two name guys,
- 25:51Speaker 1: you're not gonna believe. But I have to say, I
- 25:54Speaker 1: hear the criticism and I don't want to come for
- 25:57Speaker 1: an actor. That's there was a comment later in this
- 26:00Speaker 1: email that says, you know you wouldn't come for someone
- 26:02Speaker 1: in a movie like this, We would. We've talked a
- 26:04Speaker 1: lot about character flaws in the movies, and we're not
- 26:07Speaker 1: coming from the actors. And no characters are flawed. They
- 26:10Speaker 1: have problems. Some characters are unlikable intentionally, sometimes we have
- 26:14Speaker 1: a villain and playing that character well means that the
- 26:17Speaker 1: audience doesn't like you. So I hear the criticism that
- 26:22Speaker 1: it may come off as criticizing Evan Williams, and that's
- 26:25Speaker 1: not my personal intent, and I know that's not your intent. No,
- 26:28Speaker 1: not at all. Never trying to shit on an actor. Never.
- 26:33Speaker 1: As Wendy pointed out, we come for Cat too. We do.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Did I do that? Yeah? Every episode We've talked about it. Yes,
- 26:40Speaker 1: So these characters are not perfect people. Speaking of Cat, yeah,
- 26:46Speaker 1: Jen wrote that same mentality that she can use the
- 26:49Speaker 1: pond to fix things instead of staying in the present
- 26:52Speaker 1: and dealing with the fallout has remained. I do think
- 26:55Speaker 1: that her not growing is what frustrates people, but I
- 26:58Speaker 1: kind of like watching someone so trapped in their trauma. However,
- 27:02Speaker 1: as it is the last season, I do think we
- 27:05Speaker 1: need to see Cat grow beyond it and finally figure
- 27:09Speaker 1: out what she is doing in the present. I agree
- 27:15Speaker 1: with that. Francisco writes she's shutting the Harald down because
- 27:19Speaker 1: it wasn't as good as it was when Fern ran it.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Fern was running it as if it was page six.
- 27:26Speaker 1: She was hardly the Joan Didion of her day. Did
- 27:29Speaker 1: Cat say that? Did Cat? No? Wait, Fern likened herself
- 27:34Speaker 1: to wanting to be like Joan Didion right when they
- 27:36Speaker 1: first meet. Okay, do you remember that Cat say that
- 27:41Speaker 1: it's not as good as it used to be? I
- 27:43Speaker 1: can't remember specifically. I think she just was really running it.
- 27:46Speaker 1: She's just running the writing the society right, it's Grayson's,
- 27:51Speaker 1: Grayson's newspaper. I think Kat is like looking at the
- 27:54Speaker 1: Herald and comparing it to nineteen twenty five and being like, oh,
- 27:58Speaker 1: it was so lively here, like you know, because Ferne
- 28:01Speaker 1: was living there. You know, there was like life there,
- 28:04Speaker 1: and when she goes to the Herald, it's just all
- 28:06Speaker 1: like archives and mysteries basically. Well, and we have the Internet,
- 28:12Speaker 1: so producing you know, print media is valuable, but producing
- 28:17Speaker 1: a print newspaper in a small town is never going
- 28:20Speaker 1: to be as important as it was one hundred years
- 28:23Speaker 1: ago when it was the sole source of information. I mean,
- 28:26Speaker 1: we've all seen Devilwaar's Product Part two. I mean, you
- 28:29Speaker 1: and I have seen it. Yeah, it's the death of
- 28:32Speaker 1: print media. I know it's kind of sad. Actually, yeah,
- 28:36Speaker 1: I love a good magazine. Okay, moving on, we're still
- 28:40Speaker 1: talking about cat Hare. Alyssa says, Kat close the paper.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Thank you for finally acknowledging that she is never working.
- 28:47Speaker 1: We had the storyline for all of two minutes in
- 28:49Speaker 1: season two where she messed up the paper on Founder's Day,
- 28:52Speaker 1: and then have not really seen her do the job
- 28:55Speaker 1: for the last two seasons. I agree. This is why
- 28:58Speaker 1: I thought that is it's so weird that they would
- 29:01Speaker 1: like bring it up again in season four. Just let
- 29:05Speaker 1: it go away unless it plays a role somehow. Well.
- 29:09Speaker 1: I think we just needed to get back into the
- 29:11Speaker 1: Herald offices for some reason, to be digging through those archives.
- 29:15Speaker 1: That's where she finds Cassandra Grayson's sister and potentially some
- 29:19Speaker 1: future information and not to like it to Gilmore Girls
- 29:24Speaker 1: once again. But it's kind of like the Jackson Town
- 29:26Speaker 1: Selectman storyline. Yeah, we were watching it. My daughter goes,
- 29:30Speaker 1: when did Taylor become the town selectman again? I was like, yeah,
- 29:34Speaker 1: he just does, like they just don't you know. Yeah, finally,
- 29:40Speaker 1: Aaron Wright, this episode was like a junk drawer, a
- 29:45Speaker 1: bunch of stuff that doesn't really go together, but you
- 29:48Speaker 1: don't want to throw it out because someday it might
- 29:50Speaker 1: be relevant later on interest. Yeah. Interesting. Well, this whole
- 29:57Speaker 1: season I think has been like that. Yeah, that's what
- 30:01Speaker 1: I wonder. It's so interesting to me as a viewer
- 30:08Speaker 1: to watch when the shift is going to happen, that
- 30:11Speaker 1: they know that the season is going this is going
- 30:13Speaker 1: to be their last, because as of right now, I
- 30:15Speaker 1: feel like we just have all this build up and
- 30:17Speaker 1: we could continue on sure for two more seasons with
- 30:20Speaker 1: just like all the stuff that they've been adding. Absolutely,
- 30:23Speaker 1: I can't wait to see the shift of like it's
- 30:26Speaker 1: going to be a hard left turn I think. I
- 30:28Speaker 1: think I imagine so too. Because we're halfway through without
- 30:32Speaker 1: any answers. Right, let's talk about Evelyn and the White Witch.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Aaron says Evelyn's obsession with the White Witch was noted
- 30:40Speaker 1: by Elliott when going through her papers. Is it because
- 30:43Speaker 1: the White Witch Kat saved her when she was younger
- 30:47Speaker 1: or something more? Could Evelyn know more than she's letting on.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Aaron also says Alice explaining everything to her could explain
- 30:54Speaker 1: why Evelyn left all of her records to the Herald.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Perhaps Alice told her that if she did, it would
- 30:59Speaker 1: help solve some of the mysteries that have been surrounding
- 31:01Speaker 1: Port Haven for centuries. Alice has broken the rules before
- 31:05Speaker 1: by telling Colton his future, knowing that he was going
- 31:08Speaker 1: to die soon. I just implored that you guys have
- 31:12Speaker 1: all these details still. Well, you know what was funny
- 31:15Speaker 1: There was some speculation online that someone was saying, does
- 31:19Speaker 1: Alice make it back in time to be with Evelyn
- 31:22Speaker 1: when she dies? Because remember in the first season they
- 31:25Speaker 1: have this whole thing about Evelyn dying low in that
- 31:29Speaker 1: house looking out at the yard, and I wonder if
- 31:32Speaker 1: we're going to come back around to that moment. I
- 31:34Speaker 1: don't know, I don't know, being up in an eighties tower, right,
- 31:39Speaker 1: hmmm mmm, that's didn't she die? Like didn't they say,
- 31:44Speaker 1: like remember those scenes like they had like her binoculars
- 31:47Speaker 1: and stuff from the window. And then we hear earlier
- 31:50Speaker 1: this season her husband Ash tells a story about like
- 31:55Speaker 1: being jumping from the Yeah, let's talk Grayson's sister Cassandra.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Aaron says, Grayson's sister Cassandra, how did she die? Why
- 32:08Speaker 1: was she brought up? Question? Mark question Mark. I think
- 32:11Speaker 1: you guys might get some answers. Yeah, I get that.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Alyssa writes the fact that Grayson has a missing sister,
- 32:18Speaker 1: why do we need another mystery about a missing child?
- 32:21Speaker 1: This seems completely unnecessary. Maybe they're setting up season five
- 32:26Speaker 1: here where they're like, now we're going to try to
- 32:27Speaker 1: bring Cassandra home from somewhere. Or is Cassandra dead? A
- 32:30Speaker 1: Cara Sandra died, Okay, maybe she's the one that was
- 32:34Speaker 1: in the five win in four came. I don't know
- 32:39Speaker 1: all right. Regarding the pacing of the season, Jen says,
- 32:42Speaker 1: I think the fact that we are in episodes done
- 32:43Speaker 1: before they knew they were ending the series, but now
- 32:46Speaker 1: watching we know that it is ending, this season makes
- 32:48Speaker 1: it really hard to watch. I do think the last
- 32:51Speaker 1: two episodes will be very right. That will be terrible
- 32:54Speaker 1: in my opinion. I mean, if they're rushed, it's right
- 32:56Speaker 1: on pace with the rest of the season so far.
- 32:59Speaker 1: It's such a deluge of information. Yeah, Francisco says this
- 33:04Speaker 1: was another filler episode. I thought we got next to
- 33:06Speaker 1: nothing and now we're going to a new time. Ugh,
- 33:08Speaker 1: this season is leaving a lot to be desired. Let
- 33:10Speaker 1: me start a new email Francisco at Girls Founder Mark,
- 33:14Speaker 1: we appreciate your hot takes. I like that people are
- 33:19Speaker 1: saying if they like it or if they don't like it, Right,
- 33:22Speaker 1: we all have an opinion. Yeah, okay, these are some
- 33:25Speaker 1: miscellaneous observation Shannon from Australia. Yes, she writes, finding myself
- 33:31Speaker 1: having a bit of a giggle thinking about the show.
- 33:34Speaker 1: How on earth is Alice graduating when she surely misses
- 33:38Speaker 1: so much school? No one ever queries it, Hey, Alice,
- 33:41Speaker 1: where have you been? What are you doing here? Loca?
- 33:44Speaker 1: I don't know why that? What is from? Oh? Twilight? Oh?
- 33:47Speaker 1: I have never seen Twilight. Oh you're missing out on
- 33:50Speaker 1: some quality cinema. Yeah. I think that's why most of
- 33:53Speaker 1: our activities happened during the summer. Other than the first season,
- 33:57Speaker 1: we just fast forward through most of the year. Hannah
- 34:00Speaker 1: on YouTube, Hey, I love that somebody left to comment
- 34:04Speaker 1: on YouTube. She writes so many questions with so little answers.
- 34:08Speaker 1: I feel like I'm putting a puzzle together with all
- 34:10Speaker 1: sky and grass and no outer edges. Damn, Hannah, isn't
- 34:14Speaker 1: that that's my favorite moment? Way to be a writer.
- 34:17Speaker 1: I know, I know, I can feel the frustration. There's
- 34:20Speaker 1: one more comment that didn't get copied over here, but
- 34:23Speaker 1: David on YouTube commented, it's perhaps overblown here, but people
- 34:27Speaker 1: in the Atlantic Canada are well known to lustily sing
- 34:31Speaker 1: songs like that he's talking about VI. Really, I highly
- 34:35Speaker 1: recommend a trip to numerous bars in Halifax or Saint John's,
- 34:39Speaker 1: for example. Well fun, yeah, well that's I love that insight.
- 34:45Speaker 1: I do too. It was like so corny, but if
- 34:47Speaker 1: that's like really a thing, yeah great. Gat Well, thank
- 34:53Speaker 1: you for sticking with us through this listener mailbag episode.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Thank you for all of your submissions. We look forward
- 34:59Speaker 1: to seeing what you I have to say after this
- 35:01Speaker 1: week's episode, so make sure to send us your emails
- 35:03Speaker 1: and your voicemails. Thanks for listening to this episode of
- 35:06Speaker 1: Girls con Hollmark. We'll be back next time with more reviews.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Goodbye bye. All right friends, before we go, just a
- 35:23Speaker 1: quick heads up. You're about to hear some ads. These
- 35:26Speaker 1: little gems help us keep the show running and the
- 35:28Speaker 1: Hallmark love flowing, So do with that info what you will,
- 35:32Speaker 1: grab a snack, hit the skip button, or maybe just
- 35:36Speaker 1: maybe listen in and discover your new favorite product. Bye.
