- 0:00Speaker 1: Eh two man team will work its way through the
- 0:02Speaker 1: wilderness to a cabin hidden somewhere on this mountain. Roots
- 0:06Speaker 1: are treacherous, so use your maps.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I lost my map.
- 0:10Speaker 1: You haven't been issued a map yet.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Four finger Discounted.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Welcome to four figure discount. With this week, we're going
- 0:32Speaker 4: to be doing a special classic review. We've gone all
- 0:35Speaker 4: the way back to season eight. I'm wearing my Pinpal shirt.
- 0:37Speaker 4: We're not doing Team home Er. We're doing Matin of Madness.
- 0:39Speaker 4: I'm down, don't and I'm guying, and I'm just wearing
- 0:41Speaker 4: a shirt. Yeah, a shirt. But this is from our
- 0:43Speaker 4: friends Uncle Riica. I thought you want It's just a
- 0:45Speaker 4: lovely It's really nice to wear this jacket, this champa.
- 0:48Speaker 5: I was here when this, when this arrived, in the unboxing,
- 0:52Speaker 5: the unboxing, the unwrapping, ripping of the plastic in the paper,
- 0:55Speaker 5: and I took one look at that and I said
- 0:57Speaker 5: give it to me, and you said no, no, and
- 1:00Speaker 5: nine and that, and then I said to uncle, we
- 1:03Speaker 5: go and send us nine more. Yeah, no, no, no, I
- 1:05Speaker 5: didn't say that.
- 1:06Speaker 4: It's just look at the stitching on pin.
- 1:09Speaker 5: We talked about this and when we unwrapped it, or
- 1:12Speaker 5: when you unwrapped it, and I said, Wow, that's really nice.
- 1:14Speaker 5: I think, I said, I think I use the word
- 1:16Speaker 5: quality maybe five times in a sentence. Yeah you did,
- 1:20Speaker 5: because I'm inarticulate. And also, this is just quality.
- 1:23Speaker 4: It is quality.
- 1:24Speaker 5: And yeah, I mean, why else would you be wearing it?
- 1:26Speaker 4: Exactly? If you want to get one, you save ten percent.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I think they're only about fifty dollars as well, save
- 1:30Speaker 4: ten percent by using the code four finger. We just
- 1:32Speaker 4: follow the Lincoln description of this pod.
- 1:33Speaker 5: Let me do the mass. Oh that means you saved
- 1:36Speaker 5: five bucks.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Yes, for coffee. But it's not just off this, it's
- 1:40Speaker 4: off your entire order, not just Simpsons shit, your entire order.
- 1:42Speaker 4: But anyway, enough shilling in the madness. Jesus, Wow, you're
- 1:46Speaker 4: a full salesman. But I was just, you know, because
- 1:48Speaker 4: it's team Homer. But this is about team work this episode,
- 1:50Speaker 4: doesn't it.
- 1:53Speaker 5: You were just a five D chess master. You are
- 1:55Speaker 5: like the Queen's gambit of five D chess.
- 1:57Speaker 4: I was like, how can I bring this around? Yeah?
- 1:59Speaker 4: And you did. You're much like Homer in the parking
- 2:02Speaker 4: lot in the car park.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Of this episode. Really, you know you think it's going
- 2:06Speaker 5: nowhere and it ends up somewhere.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Now, this episode of the podcast may not have had
- 2:10Speaker 4: a fantastic opening act, but this episode certainly did. I
- 2:13Speaker 4: mean it was fine.
- 2:14Speaker 5: I think it went pretty well.
- 2:15Speaker 4: It was okay, But the opening I think it's going great.
- 2:18Speaker 4: What's wrong with the opening act of this episode? I
- 2:20Speaker 4: think it's just fantastic because it has the fire drill,
- 2:23Speaker 4: is a lot of fun. You know from the get
- 2:24Speaker 4: go it's going to be not just a family based story.
- 2:27Speaker 4: It's going to incorporate a lot of people. I always
- 2:29Speaker 4: enjoy the more a workplace episode than a family episode. Yeah,
- 2:32Speaker 4: and I always enjoy when you see people two characters
- 2:34Speaker 4: that you would normally see hanging out in a new scenario.
- 2:37Speaker 5: It's a gamble, Yes.
- 2:39Speaker 4: It really is. It's like a first date.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Yeah, you're not sure if you're going to have the chemistry,
- 2:43Speaker 5: but when you do, you get a mountin a madness. Oh,
- 2:45Speaker 5: you get a nice relationship like Guy has with Lovely Lawyers.
- 2:47Speaker 4: Yes, you know, it's going to be a unique story
- 2:50Speaker 4: because it's in a whole new setting, and it's a
- 2:51Speaker 4: whole bunch of fun because it's got a whole bunch
- 2:52Speaker 4: of characters as well. So I just thought it didn't
- 2:54Speaker 4: waste any time straight to the fire driwl, which is
- 2:56Speaker 4: a bit of fun set up the story, and I
- 2:58Speaker 4: also like the way that they thought, well, we're gonna
- 3:00Speaker 4: have to incorporate the family somehow. I haven't been the
- 3:02Speaker 4: only idiot to bring his family has a reason for
- 3:04Speaker 4: their family to be involved in. The whole episode felt natural.
- 3:07Speaker 5: It feels natural some of the stuff with the the kids,
- 3:11Speaker 5: not so much with with Barton Lisa and their interaction
- 3:13Speaker 5: with Smithers. That feels I guess natural, organic, kind of funny.
- 3:17Speaker 4: In some ways, I related so much more to Smithers
- 3:19Speaker 4: now as a kid. Like watching this, I'll be like, oh,
- 3:22Speaker 4: Smithers has just been an old grump. Now when you're
- 3:24Speaker 4: just trying to get the basic things done and the
- 3:26Speaker 4: kid's asking you, why is that tree greens? Like, shut up, kid,
- 3:30Speaker 4: Oh gosh, the old two piece feet I've never heard
- 3:37Speaker 4: that's same on the podcast. If you said the exact
- 3:39Speaker 4: same thing when I told you you've just forgotten kids, kids,
- 3:45Speaker 4: I'm like a kid, You're gonna have to beat it
- 3:47Speaker 4: into me.
- 3:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Yeah, we kids are curious, you know, always asking questions.
- 3:50Speaker 4: So I always try to a serious exactly. So I
- 3:53Speaker 4: always trying to answer as many of Elliot's question because
- 3:55Speaker 4: they're still learning the world whatnot. But when am I
- 3:57Speaker 4: sitting there watching the footy, and the entire time, I
- 4:00Speaker 4: feel like I'm just asked answering his questions. I get
- 4:03Speaker 4: to the point where I go, Alliott, I feel like,
- 4:05Speaker 4: you just watch the movie, or if you just watched
- 4:07Speaker 4: the game, ninety percent of your questions will probably be answered.
- 4:11Speaker 4: But it's just one of those that's terribly patronized. But like,
- 4:15Speaker 4: we're watching Harry Potter, but also we're very accurate. Every
- 4:17Speaker 4: time I watch Harry Potter, why is he going to
- 4:19Speaker 4: cut on his head? Holly Magic, we know this, You've
- 4:22Speaker 4: seen the movie.
- 4:23Speaker 5: She's like, oh, yeah, I've heard about this kind of
- 4:27Speaker 5: thing before. Oh it's in Uh, it's in the movie.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Steve Jobs, Sorry about jobs, Steve Jobs, No Jobs does
- 4:36Speaker 4: not exist. The ash culture version does not exist. Strike
- 4:39Speaker 4: it from the record. We're talking about what I watched
- 4:41Speaker 4: plane and it put me to sleep. Could that's good?
- 4:43Speaker 4: It did its job? You want to sleep on a plane.
- 4:46Speaker 5: There's You're just reminded me of a bit where Steve
- 4:50Speaker 5: Jobs's daughter is asking him questions and he say, you've
- 4:52Speaker 5: already asked me this, you know the answer to this,
- 4:54Speaker 5: And someone else says.
- 4:55Speaker 4: To Steve, job is like people do that. Kids do that.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Because they want ressurance and they want a bond with you.
- 5:00Speaker 5: They may already know the answer, they may even know
- 5:02Speaker 5: that they know the answer when they're asking you, but
- 5:04Speaker 5: they still want to interact with you. So your kids
- 5:06Speaker 5: are trying to interact with you, and it what's wrong
- 5:07Speaker 5: with you? Jesus, you're a bad fan.
- 5:12Speaker 4: I try to answer as many questions as possible, but
- 5:14Speaker 4: it comes to the point where you've answered the same
- 5:15Speaker 4: question five times in the last ten minutes. You just go,
- 5:17Speaker 4: come on, kid, it's why you're podcast with me? Who's Lenny?
- 5:22Speaker 4: And who's go again? Someone told me once, whether I
- 5:26Speaker 4: read it, whether I heard it in an interview or something,
- 5:28Speaker 4: that if kids engaging with their parents is very important
- 5:31Speaker 4: because it's just important to keep stimulating their brains and
- 5:33Speaker 4: have them engaging. If you just tell a kid to
- 5:34Speaker 4: sit there and shut up, they won't be mute, but
- 5:37Speaker 4: they won't learn. They won't be curious to try to
- 5:39Speaker 4: want to learn.
- 5:40Speaker 5: There will be a stone rather than a spun.
- 5:43Speaker 4: He remembers everything he remembers you watched the footye and
- 5:45Speaker 4: you'll go remember that time Brisbane beat Hawthorne by twelve
- 5:47Speaker 4: points last year And I was like, no, I'll go
- 5:50Speaker 4: through checks results. Shit kid.
- 5:55Speaker 5: I am not sadistically that your kid is rain Man,
- 5:57Speaker 5: but I sometimes but next time you're seeing throw whole
- 6:01Speaker 5: bunch of toothpicks on the floor. Wow.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Timely Reference from nineteen eighty eight say that they were
- 6:08Speaker 4: about to review anpisode of The Simpsons that originally aired
- 6:11Speaker 4: in nineteenty seven, So it's twenty seven years old. It's
- 6:13Speaker 4: crazy to me because it feels like yesterday I was
- 6:15Speaker 4: watching this as a new episode on TV.
- 6:17Speaker 5: Now this episode is too old for Leonardo DiCaprio to
- 6:20Speaker 5: day exactly.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Wow.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Another zinger Jesus coming out with them today. But what
- 6:25Speaker 4: did you like? Not favorite moments, but what did you
- 6:27Speaker 4: enjoy just overall about this story. I mentioned how like
- 6:29Speaker 4: the way they incorporated the family in a natural way,
- 6:31Speaker 4: just the overall setting being in a fresh, new area,
- 6:34Speaker 4: it makes it feel unique the story.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Yeah, location was a good thing. I was actually happier
- 6:39Speaker 5: with the I guess relationship or dynamic that developed between
- 6:45Speaker 5: Homer and Burns. You know, we're so used to it
- 6:48Speaker 5: being Ah, he's the monstrous boss who I can't get
- 6:51Speaker 5: on the wrong side of all that kind of disess.
- 6:53Speaker 4: And this is post who shot mister Burns as well.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Yeah, so you've got a nice bit of opposites attract
- 7:00Speaker 5: kind of thing going on. These two do not have
- 7:01Speaker 5: any common grand whatsoever, but they find it in cheating
- 7:05Speaker 5: or cheating and also the glory of a good sit down.
- 7:08Speaker 5: Who among us does not enjoy a good sit true
- 7:10Speaker 5: words have never.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Been he said sit, he said sit. Everybody the word
- 7:15Speaker 4: that sounds like that also applies. Who does not enjoy
- 7:17Speaker 4: a good one of those?
- 7:18Speaker 5: Either?
- 7:20Speaker 4: Let's still get down out right. But I think we'll
- 7:25Speaker 4: say that about the south Park episode. I think it
- 7:27Speaker 4: was just, yeah, seeing Burns in a because the boss
- 7:30Speaker 4: when you're work in an office or whatever at a
- 7:32Speaker 4: I worked afford Ford, very similar mentality to what the
- 7:34Speaker 4: power plane is at the in Springfield. Here the boss
- 7:38Speaker 4: is the boss. There's that fear factor. But sometimes when
- 7:40Speaker 4: the boss or throws your bone and they say come, come, come,
- 7:43Speaker 4: lunch of me or whatever, you're like, oh god, oh yeah,
- 7:45Speaker 4: it has to be my friend. I spent the last
- 7:47Speaker 4: six months shit done this guy and don't tell. But
- 7:53Speaker 4: we've talked recently about how I think it's come up
- 7:57Speaker 4: in various episodes. You want the approval, it's dish Mackie.
- 8:00Speaker 5: We talked about Yeah, yeah, I'm terrified of him, but
- 8:04Speaker 5: oh if he likes me, it provides a bit of
- 8:08Speaker 5: positive reinforcement for yourself. It's like, oh, there must be
- 8:11Speaker 5: something good about me of this guy's seeing it. Yeah,
- 8:14Speaker 5: not realizing that this guy's full of shit as anybody else,
- 8:17Speaker 5: probably just kids.
- 8:17Speaker 4: More as I did love the justification of the cheating
- 8:20Speaker 4: day because we all hate the idea of we'd like
- 8:22Speaker 4: to think that we wouldn't cheat at something. However, if
- 8:25Speaker 4: we were given the chance to cheat in this kind
- 8:27Speaker 4: of situation, I think we're taking it right. If a
- 8:30Speaker 4: horseless sled or arrives, it's a really.
- 8:34Speaker 5: Really good line now about cheating is the gift the
- 8:37Speaker 5: man gives himself. Yeah, I kind of agree. It's a
- 8:41Speaker 5: good line by Swartsworlder as an American or some of
- 8:44Speaker 5: the many people who worked on this script because we
- 8:47Speaker 5: were just doing our research. That's interesting beforehand, but it
- 8:52Speaker 5: was a Josh Weinstein.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Yeah, So basically this was written by John Swatswolder. He's
- 8:56Speaker 4: credited for it, but apparently we're just ready on the
- 8:58Speaker 4: wiki page that they got the script and they went,
- 9:01Speaker 4: if you tinker with a Swartzwelder script, you're just going
- 9:03Speaker 4: to fuck it up. So basically we just had to
- 9:05Speaker 4: rewrite the whole thing, even though he's still credited to it.
- 9:07Speaker 4: And I want to throw the question to you, would
- 9:08Speaker 4: you still want your name attached to it if you
- 9:11Speaker 4: didn't write this, if this is not your baby, because
- 9:13Speaker 4: would you sit home and go I know it says
- 9:16Speaker 4: I wrote this, but I didn't write that. I don't.
- 9:17Speaker 4: That's not how I would have handled this situation.
- 9:19Speaker 5: I would imagine, And I could be wrong, because I
- 9:21Speaker 5: often am, but I think that Swartzweather will be held
- 9:23Speaker 5: in pretty high esteem or respect by the people it
- 9:26Speaker 5: sends in the HQ. I think they would say, John,
- 9:30Speaker 5: we did a bit of reworking on this because it
- 9:32Speaker 5: was just too damn crazy.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Was reworking it was rewriting?
- 9:36Speaker 5: Well yeah, but yeah, well we did a bit of
- 9:38Speaker 5: rewriting on it, or we rewrote it. What do you
- 9:41Speaker 5: think would do you happy to go out with your
- 9:42Speaker 5: name on this? Or should we alan smithy it and
- 9:46Speaker 5: say you know and it was a group effort. He's
- 9:47Speaker 5: probably just getting that residual money for me. That credit
- 9:49Speaker 5: is the writer, probably a very smart guy, and this
- 9:51Speaker 5: the Swartsweader and put my name on it and give
- 9:54Speaker 5: me that money.
- 9:55Speaker 4: He's just created that mystique forever has any Swartswolder, even
- 9:58Speaker 4: to this day, we don't quite know the man. Certainly
- 10:00Speaker 4: on this podcast we're doing Where's Well, We're saying his
- 10:07Speaker 4: name in hush tones like it's I've always sort of
- 10:09Speaker 4: said to myself, I'm gonna be that since this podcast
- 10:12Speaker 4: that eventually gets spotswatter, I feel like if anyone's going
- 10:14Speaker 4: to make it happen, it's this guy.
- 10:16Speaker 5: Oh, Well's go to have a dream.
- 10:18Speaker 4: I'm one of those people where unless it's the ability
- 10:21Speaker 4: to fly, if I set myself a reasonable goal, I
- 10:24Speaker 4: eighty five percent of the time I achieved them. I
- 10:26Speaker 4: feel like I'm going to try and get Swartswater on
- 10:28Speaker 4: this podcast. I feel like problem with this is not.
- 10:30Speaker 5: An unreasonable goal. No, I think you can do it.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Yeah, why not?
- 10:34Speaker 5: If you have to drop my name to do it,
- 10:35Speaker 5: then I'm happy to help my favorite We'll get in
- 10:40Speaker 5: the favorite moments I have I have two and one.
- 10:43Speaker 5: I've already alluded to who among us does not enjoy
- 10:45Speaker 5: a good sit?
- 10:46Speaker 6: Ye?
- 10:46Speaker 5: Sitting's great, YEA all for it. I love it, and
- 10:50Speaker 5: I'm glad that Homer actually got to show a bit
- 10:54Speaker 5: of his prayer as he earned a bit of respect
- 10:56Speaker 5: from my day from being just a really good sitter.
- 11:00Speaker 4: And not just to sit. It's the ability to move
- 11:02Speaker 4: the dog. He's effective and efficient. Why you'd have to
- 11:06Speaker 4: get up? That was great? It was such a stupid
- 11:09Speaker 4: cliche setup. But it's like you knew exactly what they
- 11:10Speaker 4: were doing. You'd have to get up. I love that
- 11:14Speaker 4: on infomercials. That would take me all day. Tell me more.
- 11:19Speaker 4: You mean a world have to do that? But you
- 11:22Speaker 4: mentioned it a good sit, right for maybe? No, it's
- 11:25Speaker 4: like yourself and myself. There's two the two most important
- 11:29Speaker 4: things we have in our house our beds and our couch.
- 11:32Speaker 4: So we spend the most bad time sleeping and sitting.
- 11:34Speaker 4: So you're gonna go out and buy a mattress or a couch.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Make sure it's not just a shitty one. Treat yourself
- 11:39Speaker 4: because you don't realize how often you spend on that couch.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Time for guy's cliche corner. Do you realize you spend
- 11:45Speaker 5: a third of your life asleep?
- 11:46Speaker 4: Yeah, and it sounds like a lot. Then you realize
- 11:48Speaker 4: and you go, oh sure, kauhala mattress, friend of the Pond,
- 11:52Speaker 4: sleeping duck or one. What is a sand Man factory?
- 11:56Speaker 4: Is that the mattress place?
- 11:58Speaker 5: That sounds evil?
- 12:00Speaker 4: The Sandman not evil? If you want a sponsors not evil,
- 12:04Speaker 4: I'm a I'm aware of the sand The.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Sandman Factories has like a serial killer's like it's a
- 12:11Speaker 5: super villain.
- 12:12Speaker 4: It's spider Man. They think they've got that little girl
- 12:16Speaker 4: who live in the Sandman Factory. I love it. This
- 12:18Speaker 4: is a great story. Elliott watches spider I'll be the
- 12:21Speaker 4: judge of that. Elliott right loves Spidery and his amazing friends.
- 12:24Speaker 4: It's the show, a genius show where they kid versions
- 12:27Speaker 4: of the Marvel heroes getting them in early. You're not
- 12:30Speaker 4: gonna like DC, You're gonna like Marvel. Do they have
- 12:32Speaker 4: a kid punish it? No, not yet, But there's the
- 12:34Speaker 4: Samman's been on it right, And I feel like you
- 12:36Speaker 4: must have tested well of audiences because if you've heard
- 12:39Speaker 4: a few episodes. But Elliot watches and he goes, he
- 12:41Speaker 4: turns into sand. What's good of that turning into bottle?
- 12:49Speaker 4: But he's just like, hees, what's his super power? So
- 12:52Speaker 4: he turns in the sand. He goes, why do I
- 12:54Speaker 4: take him? Turn the sand? I'm like, I mean, I
- 12:57Speaker 4: get it, that's true.
- 13:00Speaker 5: I think there's a reason the Sandman didn't show Spider
- 13:02Speaker 5: Man three very well played by Thomas Hayden.
- 13:06Speaker 4: He goes, he can't fly, he doesn't have a glider
- 13:08Speaker 4: like like Electro and and Green Goblin. He's just said,
- 13:13Speaker 4: what's so good about? Said?
- 13:14Speaker 5: Give him some comic books. I mean, I'm sure the
- 13:16Speaker 5: Sandman has done some really good I remember enjoying the
- 13:18Speaker 5: Sandman in Spider Man's just on this show.
- 13:20Speaker 4: He's just the abilities. Just what's the deal with the Saldmon?
- 13:25Speaker 4: He turns into a sand I don't know how and
- 13:33Speaker 4: friends of favorite moments. I don't know enjoying a good
- 13:37Speaker 4: good Sandman the Mattress Factory. We're back, We're back, he
- 13:41Speaker 4: made I really enjoyed home. I got more fatal we're
- 13:44Speaker 4: taking turns? Yeah, I thought that was trivia. No, what's
- 13:48Speaker 4: your shake up? A bit shake One thing that I
- 13:51Speaker 4: like is a couple of just homeless sort of just
- 13:53Speaker 4: manuisms here, So I put all your names into the hat.
- 13:58Speaker 4: You like the process and the because I could totally relate.
- 14:02Speaker 4: And I can understand why you would think this if
- 14:04Speaker 4: you've rocked up late to the party and Smizers has
- 14:05Speaker 4: just said you have to follow to the cabinets on
- 14:09Speaker 4: your map. I don't have a map, but you haven't
- 14:11Speaker 4: initialed a map yet. It's like I lost the map.
- 14:13Speaker 4: It's like you would think, well, the fact, do you
- 14:15Speaker 4: think he's lost it? That's gay, yes, but you know
- 14:18Speaker 4: you would think, well, haven't given a map yet?
- 14:20Speaker 6: What?
- 14:20Speaker 4: Yeah, that's just I like that I've lost my Matt.
- 14:24Speaker 5: One should always be curious, Elliott, and I'm always asked questions.
- 14:28Speaker 5: There are no dumb questions, except sometimes there are dumb questions.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Because if you get to a thing late, Garrison would say,
- 14:35Speaker 4: is that trivia a little segment? Such is a stupid
- 14:39Speaker 4: question only stupid people. Very good point.
- 14:43Speaker 5: You rock up to something late, and you know you
- 14:45Speaker 5: asked the question about, oh, so are we covering this?
- 14:47Speaker 5: I've already talked about this. You've been here on time,
- 14:49Speaker 5: and everyone's looked at you like this. You're like that
- 14:52Speaker 5: person that calls out a letter on real fortune. That's
- 14:54Speaker 5: either a already out on the border lorady being called out.
- 14:55Speaker 5: You're like, the fuck the hell's wrong with you? I
- 14:58Speaker 5: don't know if I should say it. We're going to
- 15:00Speaker 5: do that episode of soundtrack, so that's going to be interesting.
- 15:04Speaker 4: The camera guy. But what else did you like? I
- 15:08Speaker 4: was always.
- 15:09Speaker 5: Curious, very curious episode to that. Ye about the line,
- 15:14Speaker 5: your ideas are intriguing to me, and I would like
- 15:16Speaker 5: I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. I always thought
- 15:19Speaker 5: that the Simpsons not rip this off from somewhere else,
- 15:21Speaker 5: but they are paying homage or referencing something, but it's
- 15:24Speaker 5: from this Yes, But that became it became a real
- 15:27Speaker 5: saying yeah, I said all the time, Yeah, it's like, well,
- 15:29Speaker 5: your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to
- 15:31Speaker 5: subscribe to your newsletter.
- 15:32Speaker 4: In that moment, is that Bart trying to just be
- 15:34Speaker 4: like just one of those right wing idiots? What was
- 15:37Speaker 4: this thing about? You know this? And what about that? Hey,
- 15:39Speaker 4: the world's going to shit.
- 15:40Speaker 5: He's becoming an ultra conservative for its news very early
- 15:43Speaker 5: in the in the proceedings of his life, Yes, but yeah,
- 15:48Speaker 5: certainly in the late nineties. Yeah, that that saying was
- 15:51Speaker 5: going around a lot. I mean, yeah, post this episode,
- 15:53Speaker 5: I'm guessing, but it seemed like it was a bit
- 15:56Speaker 5: of a shorthand gag. You know, of anyone, anytime, anyone
- 16:00Speaker 5: anything interesting or vaguely fends like your ideas are retreating me.
- 16:04Speaker 5: You know, we should subcribe to your newsletters. Who would
- 16:05Speaker 5: have thought that would become a thing? You're a glib
- 16:08Speaker 5: fuck around ye.
- 16:10Speaker 7: Uh.
- 16:11Speaker 5: Those are my two favorite moments.
- 16:13Speaker 4: I also enjoyed, so they get there And if you
- 16:15Speaker 4: turn this door knob the right way, No going through
- 16:19Speaker 4: the window for us, Like that makes it's stupid, but
- 16:24Speaker 4: it's so funny. No going through the window for us.
- 16:28Speaker 4: It's home destly trying to catch up to how the
- 16:31Speaker 4: way how the half lives? He's like, oh this how
- 16:32Speaker 4: the other half? Wow? You guys using fancy doorknobs. Next question,
- 16:39Speaker 4: you there eating the paste? All right? Trivia time? Since
- 16:42Speaker 4: I interrupted your favorite moments, you can kick off the trivia?
- 16:45Speaker 4: Can I fance do it? Thanks? Dan, You're welcome. I
- 16:48Speaker 4: am in the team, you know, pulling out of names
- 16:52Speaker 4: from the sorting hat and the hat as he mentioned
- 16:53Speaker 4: Harry Potter earlier, it's.
- 16:55Speaker 5: All time together. Who is paired with Haney.
- 17:00Speaker 4: I K you're going to ask a question like this,
- 17:01Speaker 4: I don't know who look at the look at this guy.
- 17:05Speaker 4: You know when you watch it and you go, oh,
- 17:07Speaker 4: this is probably be a tricky question, and then you
- 17:11Speaker 4: get it and you're like, oh no, it's Trucker. Trucker.
- 17:14Speaker 4: I was thinking because when they finished that, I thought,
- 17:17Speaker 4: I wonder if any of those names were like, you know,
- 17:18Speaker 4: Weinstein or Oakley or show people worked on the show.
- 17:22Speaker 7: No.
- 17:22Speaker 4: The one thing I was happy about, like Zutro is back.
- 17:24Speaker 6: I was.
- 17:25Speaker 5: I mentioned it's like work hard and every day you
- 17:28Speaker 5: get the shame of Penny, which is how Dan I
- 17:30Speaker 5: got me on board?
- 17:31Speaker 4: Or what do they say, Stuart get back to work,
- 17:32Speaker 4: Stewart let Steward unfortunately. I My first question for you
- 17:38Speaker 4: is what game does Smith suggest they play? It's just
- 17:44Speaker 4: a game or the domestic version Chinese Chinese Checkers or
- 17:47Speaker 4: domestic Yeah, chickeny China, the Chinese Chicken except from Chinese Chicken.
- 17:54Speaker 4: It's some pop song, isn't it. It's been one day
- 17:57Speaker 4: since you looked in Yes from Ban Naked Ladies, the
- 18:01Speaker 4: Finest is it one day? It's been one week? One
- 18:04Speaker 4: weeks again looked. I'm like, well, it always every day,
- 18:08Speaker 4: that's what that's.
- 18:11Speaker 5: I did that to avoid copy right straight, I'm learning.
- 18:17Speaker 5: My next question to you is when did the story
- 18:21Speaker 5: of National parks begin? Oh, nineteen twelve, eighteen seventy two,
- 18:26Speaker 5: eighteen seventy two, according to the very boring yes, what
- 18:31Speaker 5: dates are the Mountain Music Festival?
- 18:34Speaker 4: Oh? Damn it August twelve to sixteenth March fourteen eighteen. Okay,
- 18:40Speaker 4: so I was wrong in every wrong in pretty much
- 18:43Speaker 4: every way. I really like that Ranger though as a
- 18:46Speaker 4: kid I never really got it. He watched his now
- 18:48Speaker 4: apparently he's based on the design off Al Gore. Yeah,
- 18:51Speaker 4: but it's just so funny. Yeah, just very deadpan. Yeah, deadpan,
- 18:55Speaker 4: and also just like slipping in that little primover much
- 18:58Speaker 4: more in eating.
- 19:00Speaker 5: I have one more question for you. Yeah, how many
- 19:03Speaker 5: bones are in burns of snowman? How many what bones? Bones?
- 19:08Speaker 4: Oh? Is it same as a human body? That's a
- 19:10Speaker 4: good question. Two hundred and something? Okay, we have two
- 19:14Speaker 4: hundred and thirty six, is that right? I don't know.
- 19:17Speaker 5: I haven't counted my bones late.
- 19:19Speaker 4: How many bones the human body have, let's have a look,
- 19:21Speaker 4: Or how many has birds has got burns, but burns
- 19:24Speaker 4: of bones. Two hundred and six. Two hundred and six
- 19:26Speaker 4: bones is the exact for him. Yeah, okay, what did
- 19:29Speaker 4: I say? Two hundred and thirty six? Yeah?
- 19:31Speaker 5: Where are your extra bones?
- 19:32Speaker 4: Buddy? I don't know bone? Final question? Disappointed? What does
- 19:39Speaker 4: burns find? And he'd seventy years ago already in the cabin? Oh,
- 19:45Speaker 4: damn it, it's it's a comic. It's Bazuka Joe.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Yes, I was gonna talk.
- 19:51Speaker 4: No, it's it's pinching material from another another show. Okay.
- 19:56Speaker 4: A website, a web site, a you find out www
- 20:01Speaker 4: dot Yeah, no, I did the http backlas Bashlas, a
- 20:07Speaker 4: YouTube program that I came up with a very plausible
- 20:11Speaker 4: sounding but completely pornographic explanation for the name Bazooka Joe.
- 20:16Speaker 5: I need to look up if it's actually true, because
- 20:18Speaker 5: the guy who told the story it was incredibly funny,
- 20:20Speaker 5: incredibly smutty, and also like that could be a thing.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Say it with enough conviction that gee George stands away.
- 20:27Speaker 5: Oh yeah, oh the way of the Internet. Yes, honesty,
- 20:30Speaker 5: conviction will always be mistaken for accuracy.
- 20:33Speaker 4: All right, let's the names of our beloved Stonecumers as well.
- 20:35Speaker 4: What do you reckon?
- 20:35Speaker 5: How about you do it?
- 20:36Speaker 4: I reckon?
- 20:37Speaker 5: I better do it because I'm the one with the list.
- 20:38Speaker 5: You're the one with the computer in front of your man.
- 20:41Speaker 5: I've got patter and pen like a caveman.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Who do we start with? Always? We always start with
- 20:46Speaker 4: the letter G. We we skip right through the first
- 20:49Speaker 4: few letters of the alphabet because G is the most important.
- 20:52Speaker 4: It's because no G, because guy, because guy starts with
- 20:56Speaker 4: G ATG k E G Kate e G yes with
- 20:59Speaker 4: her one hundred dollar support. Thank you so much, Katie
- 21:01Speaker 4: for continue to supportus. He at the four figure discantey.
- 21:03Speaker 5: That would be if Katie G went to the Olympics
- 21:06Speaker 5: as a break dancer. Do you think she would go?
- 21:08Speaker 5: By kate discussion?
- 21:10Speaker 4: Can we talk about Reagan? Can I stalk about reagaann?
- 21:12Speaker 4: Everyone's talking about Reagan. They were, They're not going to
- 21:15Speaker 4: be anymore. By the time this comes out, she'd be
- 21:16Speaker 4: old news.
- 21:17Speaker 5: That's correct. Her her pan will have been flash. She
- 21:19Speaker 5: had her fifteen seconds. If Katig went to the Olympics
- 21:22Speaker 5: of breakdownce kate e G K eight was it even
- 21:25Speaker 5: worth it? Don't but katG is certainly worth it, and
- 21:27Speaker 5: we're worth one hundred dollars a month. According to Katy.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Yeah, Andrew' serve with his fifty dollars support also our
- 21:32Speaker 4: man as a.
- 21:33Speaker 5: Lolling as you would say something knowics about Andrews. We're
- 21:34Speaker 5: always saying no stuff about Katie, who deserves it.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Andrew has just been the constant. He's been a fifty
- 21:39Speaker 4: dollar supporter for so long. What an absolute champion. When
- 21:41Speaker 4: you talking about mister Zerr, I think you just said
- 21:44Speaker 4: welcome to the rock, because he's the rock. He is
- 21:46Speaker 4: the rock, He's the backbone. And he also has one
- 21:48Speaker 4: of the biggest Pluto collections you'll ever see.
- 21:51Speaker 5: I'm wondered where that was going.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Yeah, so you look, he should be to be a photo.
- 21:54Speaker 4: He basically owns every Cluter ever released or it is
- 21:56Speaker 4: like an entire wall of Cludo's and I'm like, that's
- 21:59Speaker 4: a lot of the game. However, every game has its
- 22:01Speaker 4: own unique locations whatnot. Okay O games at Andrews's place
- 22:05Speaker 4: would be a lot of fun.
- 22:06Speaker 5: I think it would go right off. Yeah, I think
- 22:09Speaker 5: you would do it in the living room with the candlestick.
- 22:11Speaker 4: What's your favorite Cluto? Do you ever what's played? You've
- 22:14Speaker 4: ever played a theme? I don't think I've ever I
- 22:16Speaker 4: don't think I've ever played clue. This really wow, there's
- 22:19Speaker 4: a Simpsons Cludo that's unbelievable.
- 22:20Speaker 5: For our American friends, you just clue.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Yeah, so I've got Seinfeld Clue because it was never
- 22:25Speaker 4: released here. Nicolas got friends Clue because it was never
- 22:28Speaker 4: released here. Never happened.
- 22:30Speaker 5: Do you think it's just Is it called cludo anywhere
- 22:33Speaker 5: else in the world?
- 22:34Speaker 4: Everywhere but the States?
- 22:36Speaker 6: Oh?
- 22:36Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, because it sounds very austraight yeah.
- 22:39Speaker 4: Clude looks like you make clue Bersie Cluto. Okay, Gluto,
- 22:47Speaker 4: all right, let's have it. Is Cludo called clue in
- 22:51Speaker 4: UK's have a look. The game was eventually picture of
- 22:54Speaker 4: the British publisher Waddington's, who changed it to make you
- 22:56Speaker 4: change it to the made up word Cludo, a mashup
- 22:59Speaker 4: of clue and Ludo, Ludo being the name of Pachisi
- 23:02Speaker 4: in England. In nineteen forty eight, the game is presented
- 23:05Speaker 4: to Waddington's American partners Parker Brothers, who changed the name
- 23:08Speaker 4: to clue. So it's only clue in the States. Everywhere
- 23:10Speaker 4: else Cludo.
- 23:12Speaker 5: There you go, because you want to clus sounds like
- 23:14Speaker 5: the wonderful clash of England and America.
- 23:16Speaker 4: It's like, Hello, I'm Horace Waddington the Third. You know,
- 23:20Speaker 4: my great grandfather founded Washington's Games back in the hell
- 23:24Speaker 4: Hell where the Parker Brothers, sorry they were Australian, where
- 23:28Speaker 4: the Parker Brothers. We muscled those guys out. I am
- 23:34Speaker 4: entertaining myself with this, but no one else. If you
- 23:36Speaker 4: said to someone who wants to play Clue, I'd be like,
- 23:39Speaker 4: all right. If someone says, who want to play Cludo? Yeah, Cluto,
- 23:42Speaker 4: it sounds so much more fun, hey, Cludo. It doesn't
- 23:44Speaker 4: It does anyway enough to b Cluto. Also, our man
- 23:47Speaker 4: Zach Pruitt, who added the show occasionally here in the
- 23:49Speaker 4: fourth just edited all that stuff out, yeah, Andrew Swan.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Our man it runs out Discord and helps out the
- 23:54Speaker 4: website was Jordan mom and Richie Jonathan ROSSI reached Beasley,
- 23:57Speaker 4: Stephen Roberts, Sean DVP Anderson, Timothy else and Andrew Davis,
- 24:00Speaker 4: Ryan Dunal Lap, Kevin's Dentel planned flood, Sheddon Hope as
- 24:03Speaker 4: a guy takes a big drink coffee, Balow Window Bank,
- 24:05Speaker 4: Jack McFadden, Heath Apple, be Adrick McLeod Lewis cavanaughh Matral
- 24:08Speaker 4: Even Reese, Roberts, Ginger and Pickle, Preston, Murray, t Lee
- 24:10Speaker 4: and Riquez, Chee Masato, Decklan Phoenix, Brian McCoy, Josh Halleer,
- 24:14Speaker 4: Logan b James Sheppard, Joe Readin, Szac, Dave Puts McNally,
- 24:16Speaker 4: Gavin Lang, Damian Millen. They may be wondering why I
- 24:18Speaker 4: put it out the coffee, because now people know when
- 24:20Speaker 4: they're watching this on YouTube, that this is actually happening
- 24:22Speaker 4: in real time.
- 24:23Speaker 5: This is happening in real time. Also, this is the
- 24:26Speaker 5: only time we've got so many stonecutters that you know,
- 24:30Speaker 5: Damno is going to be occupied for a bit. Yeah,
- 24:32Speaker 5: I don't have to talk. I can you know, by
- 24:35Speaker 5: the way, this is tea, not coffee. Ah, but I
- 24:37Speaker 5: can cleanse my palette and you know, whit my whistle
- 24:41Speaker 5: and get ready to provide you with top notch content.
- 24:43Speaker 4: Do you want to know the original air day of
- 24:45Speaker 4: Mountain of Madness. Sure, it was February second, nineteen ninety seven.
- 24:48Speaker 4: The production code, would you believe, was four F one zero,
- 24:53Speaker 4: and as we mentioned earlier, it was written by John Swartzwald,
- 24:55Speaker 4: although he may not have written I want to see.
- 24:57Speaker 4: I want to read what the Schwartzwater version of this
- 24:59Speaker 4: apparently was insane, as Weinstein says, so I would love
- 25:02Speaker 4: to read John swartz Order's original version of Mountain of Madness.
- 25:05Speaker 4: I wonder I reckon he goes real like crazy with
- 25:08Speaker 4: once they have cabin Fever. One's while with that, I reckon.
- 25:12Speaker 4: I like Swartzwelder. I like it.
- 25:13Speaker 5: I like his philosophy of writing just a really basic
- 25:17Speaker 5: thing and then the next day, Oh, I get to rewrite.
- 25:19Speaker 5: You know, you do the fun stuff.
- 25:21Speaker 4: I love that he bought the diner booth that he
- 25:23Speaker 4: likes and brought it into his house. What a man. Yeah.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Also directed by Mark Kirkland. The cash gag the couch
- 25:29Speaker 4: has folded out into a bed with Grandpa sleeping on
- 25:31Speaker 4: at the Simpsons folded back up and he gets sucked
- 25:32Speaker 4: into the couch and there was no chopboall game, just
- 25:35Speaker 4: gip straight to the couch gag. So the episode kicks
- 25:37Speaker 4: off with Burns walking all happy into work. Have I
- 25:42Speaker 4: ever seen a boss walk into work like this?
- 25:44Speaker 6: No?
- 25:45Speaker 4: The boss never seems happening. I feel like that if
- 25:46Speaker 4: you're a boss, you've got to set that you're going
- 25:48Speaker 4: to set the president right love the way he said, Boss,
- 25:50Speaker 4: just then really sort of boss, You've got to set
- 25:52Speaker 4: the president of If I look like I'm happy to
- 25:55Speaker 4: be here, then hopefully my workers will want to be
- 25:57Speaker 4: here as well.
- 25:58Speaker 5: Well you're leading from the top, Yeah, because a top
- 26:00Speaker 5: down manage, I.
- 26:01Speaker 4: Know, previous employment. You go here, you're going, yeah, living
- 26:04Speaker 4: the dream. I'm like, well, this guy fucking hats being in,
- 26:06Speaker 4: then why should I enjoy being the point he's only
- 26:09Speaker 4: getting paid. Whenever I walk into the studio that we've
- 26:15Speaker 4: got here, Dan, it's almost very very cheerful. Yeah, another day,
- 26:18Speaker 4: let's help. The promise of a new day, the promise
- 26:22Speaker 4: of a new Davis Beta. But officer him coffee, no
- 26:29Speaker 4: need for coffee. As I said, promise of a new
- 26:31Speaker 4: day is more than enough exhilaration for him. And then
- 26:33Speaker 4: by lunchtime he's just in the bed. This is what
- 26:35Speaker 4: it's like at enofice job. By a lunchtime you're like,
- 26:37Speaker 4: oh god, how's it only twelve o'clock? True? Yes, so
- 26:40Speaker 4: that's when you log at it. Yes, No, don't log out,
- 26:46Speaker 4: Go get your Steve Kie, then come back and log out. No,
- 26:48Speaker 4: this is the thing, you know, this week marks two
- 26:50Speaker 4: years since I quit my office job to pursue this
- 26:52Speaker 4: is a dream. Wow two years two years as I've
- 26:54Speaker 4: had to work for somebody else. Wowpaus to me, well,
- 27:01Speaker 4: chase that drink, Yes, Chase the dream indeed. But he
- 27:04Speaker 4: then asked the coffee because obviously he needs it. And
- 27:06Speaker 4: then that shot here of him and going ah with
- 27:08Speaker 4: the coffee that gets used so often in memes, Burds
- 27:12Speaker 4: with this little coffee and just full of energy, and
- 27:14Speaker 4: he's wide away now and decides, what can we do here?
- 27:17Speaker 4: We do a drill of some kind. So you go
- 27:18Speaker 4: through his meltdown alert, a mad dog, one, a blimp,
- 27:22Speaker 4: and you just side and a good old fire drill.
- 27:24Speaker 4: Imagine having this power. Were just like, I feel like
- 27:26Speaker 4: making them do a drill.
- 27:29Speaker 5: Putting them through their paces. Yeah, making them bend to
- 27:32Speaker 5: my will.
- 27:32Speaker 4: They do it forward, but they would they would always
- 27:36Speaker 4: like the top officer would always say, you gonna do
- 27:37Speaker 4: a fire drill today in Geelong, but that they would
- 27:40Speaker 4: always come around the union God always comeround and go
- 27:42Speaker 4: doing a fire drill at nine forty five. Just get ready,
- 27:43Speaker 4: just make just get ready. It was like it was
- 27:47Speaker 4: like the need to know basis, you know what I mean?
- 27:51Speaker 4: Ninety five the fire drill. Everyone's like, is that the
- 27:53Speaker 4: fire drill? Got leave it in orderly fashion, thankfully. Here's
- 27:58Speaker 4: this exit package I've.
- 27:59Speaker 5: Prepared earlier, but I'm going to follow to the letter. Yeah,
- 28:02Speaker 5: I'm certainly not afraid from my life. So yeah, so
- 28:06Speaker 5: it's just going to going crazy.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Lenny's waiting for his coc I did, like Carl thought
- 28:10Speaker 4: the popcorn's ready. Now you're mentioning, you've read someone on
- 28:13Speaker 4: Wikipedia that this was the first one established the Lenny
- 28:16Speaker 4: Carl relationship, apparently al Pale Josh Weinstein, because they've always
- 28:21Speaker 4: been friends, yes, but.
- 28:23Speaker 5: Now we're establishing that they are an actual sort of duo. Yeah,
- 28:27Speaker 5: best buzz.
- 28:27Speaker 4: It's weird because I've always just seen them as a duo. Yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 4: we do a bit of retroactive. What's the word I'm
- 28:34Speaker 4: looking for is just because you've watched the same episodes
- 28:36Speaker 4: over and over again, just feels like it's always been
- 28:37Speaker 4: that's always been that way. Yeah, because I guess the episodes,
- 28:40Speaker 4: I would say the ones that we're put on TV
- 28:43Speaker 4: the most in Australia reruns wise, we'll be like four
- 28:45Speaker 4: through eight. I reckon and this is season eight, so
- 28:47Speaker 4: it's cold on the end of that. But still, I think,
- 28:49Speaker 4: just watching these episodes over and over again, you just
- 28:50Speaker 4: think this has just always just been the way. As
- 28:52Speaker 4: I said, now, who are you? Are you the fire
- 28:56Speaker 4: extinguisher guy in a fire drill when you think that
- 28:58Speaker 4: the shit's gone shit's gone down? Or either fire fire
- 29:00Speaker 4: fire fight? Which one are you? Either guy get the
- 29:02Speaker 4: fired seriously hitting people? Or are you panicking? Or you
- 29:06Speaker 4: what do you?
- 29:06Speaker 5: Neither of these a good option. No, they're not. I'm
- 29:09Speaker 5: probably far extinguished that I'm gonna be honest about.
- 29:13Speaker 4: If it's every man for himself, you know this building
- 29:16Speaker 4: is coming down, what are you doing? Are you going
- 29:18Speaker 4: to be helping people or is it every man for himself? No,
- 29:21Speaker 4: I'm going to be helping people. You reckon, I am
- 29:23Speaker 4: No one remembers you, though, what's the point in happening people?
- 29:25Speaker 4: If it was all coming down it's every man for himself,
- 29:27Speaker 4: You're going to get out first.
- 29:28Speaker 5: Man in the last few seconds of my life. I'm
- 29:30Speaker 5: going to be like, there's a saying that.
- 29:32Speaker 4: It might not have to be if it's every man
- 29:33Speaker 4: for himself, it mightn't have to be the last few
- 29:35Speaker 4: seconds of your life. Yeah, and then I've got to
- 29:37Speaker 4: live the rest of my life. There was that poor
- 29:39Speaker 4: chump I could have helped out, and that that person
- 29:41Speaker 4: will haunt me for the rest of my day. But
- 29:42Speaker 4: then you just have to have someone go. Yeah, but
- 29:43Speaker 4: if he was in that situation, would done the same
- 29:45Speaker 4: thing to you? And you're like, yeah, you probably would have.
- 29:49Speaker 5: No.
- 29:50Speaker 4: No, I've gotta be able to look at myself in
- 29:51Speaker 4: the mirror for the rest of my life. So yeah,
- 29:54Speaker 4: and I saying I'll come a rescue. In the cowboy photo,
- 29:57Speaker 4: as well as most of the family, I love to
- 30:00Speaker 4: choose between.
- 30:00Speaker 5: All of them, Like there's a family phok right there,
- 30:02Speaker 5: that's got everyone in the grab that one, the stabby
- 30:05Speaker 5: photo is at home.
- 30:05Speaker 4: This one is me.
- 30:08Speaker 5: I'm not saying you shouldn't have taken the cowboy, of
- 30:11Speaker 5: course he has, but he's looking like which you choose?
- 30:13Speaker 4: Which I choose?
- 30:14Speaker 5: Ah?
- 30:14Speaker 4: Yeah, what were you going to say?
- 30:16Speaker 5: There's a saying from an old Western that I like
- 30:19Speaker 5: that is not necessarily a motto, but this cowboy's sort
- 30:24Speaker 5: of lived a bit of a rough life. He says,
- 30:26Speaker 5: when my time comes, I just want to enter my
- 30:27Speaker 5: house justified, which means, you know, I want no regrets.
- 30:30Speaker 5: I want to walk up to the pearly gates and say, yeah,
- 30:34Speaker 5: I did it right. That's the thing I want to
- 30:36Speaker 5: I want to enter my house justified. Yes, so yeah,
- 30:39Speaker 5: that's that's how I feel about it. I would help
- 30:41Speaker 5: someone out.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Bands and Smiths are waiting. He says, how does it
- 30:45Speaker 4: normally take? Was it like usually forty five seconds or something?
- 30:48Speaker 5: Forty five seconds? And the storte is it supposed to
- 30:53Speaker 5: take this long?
- 30:54Speaker 3: What's a good term for a mass evacuation of the
- 30:56Speaker 3: entire plant?
- 30:58Speaker 1: Forty five seconds? And to tell him so far I
- 31:01Speaker 1: don't know. Sorry, let's stop watch only goes up to
- 31:03Speaker 1: fifteen minutes.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Damn nation? What kind of slow coaches? The way of
- 31:07Speaker 4: working for me.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Was one of our fellows.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Now I think I won, mister Burns, Yes, you won.
- 31:18Speaker 3: All right, you won more than you burgained.
- 31:21Speaker 7: Fun.
- 31:23Speaker 4: I love this shot here. It's just detailed the background,
- 31:27Speaker 4: Burns dressing him down, the guy climbing down and he
- 31:29Speaker 4: falls off at the last bitte.
- 31:31Speaker 5: That was good. I like that. By the way, another
- 31:34Speaker 5: pop culture deep cut in here are very Burns thing,
- 31:38Speaker 5: because Burns is always, you know, talking about stuff. That
- 31:40Speaker 5: was just ancient and before by the time this episode
- 31:44Speaker 5: came out. I think he talks about the Ritz Brothers
- 31:46Speaker 5: he does, which were like, I really, I want to
- 31:49Speaker 5: say a low rent Marx Brothers, but it's like Marx
- 31:52Speaker 5: Brothers are really popular in the thirties and forties, and
- 31:55Speaker 5: I think it was like Famous and Brothers, find all
- 31:57Speaker 5: the Vallville, thead, the.
- 31:58Speaker 4: Rights, who got the Ritson? The Right Brothers did the plane?
- 32:03Speaker 4: Also a well known comedy duo. Yes, but yeah Rich
- 32:08Speaker 4: Brothers like a yeah, a Marx Brothers knock off.
- 32:11Speaker 5: Of course this is something but a joke designed especially
- 32:18Speaker 5: for me and my head full of pop culture epemera.
- 32:20Speaker 4: But a rule lesson in teamwork, as he explains, here
- 32:24Speaker 4: is what Lenny and I don't know he does like
- 32:25Speaker 4: clearly not working as a team. So it's true this
- 32:28Speaker 4: is this feels like the episode where now you pointed
- 32:30Speaker 4: it out. A lot of the episode is Lenny and Carl.
- 32:33Speaker 4: I think I didn't have it as the first time
- 32:35Speaker 4: as seen him as a duo. I saw it as
- 32:37Speaker 4: the first time we sort of saw Carl's disdain for Lenny,
- 32:40Speaker 4: which I think is my least favorite part of that relationship.
- 32:43Speaker 4: Because as the show evolves, it's almost like Lenny evolves
- 32:47Speaker 4: into Carl as well. They both have just disdained for
- 32:49Speaker 4: each other and everything else around them. Yeah it feels unnatural. Yeah,
- 32:52Speaker 4: isn't it, because why frankly unwanted? Yeah, it's weird. We
- 32:56Speaker 4: don't want that. No, so burns, so as I always
- 33:00Speaker 4: said that. So Homy then explains that you can take
- 33:02Speaker 4: him to a teamwork retreat, to the family, as if
- 33:04Speaker 4: they say, you've got to come with me. This is
- 33:06Speaker 4: where we get the Barts rant about the just the
- 33:08Speaker 4: world's not going the way he likes it. I wish
- 33:10Speaker 4: to subscribe to your newsletter, think about Babe Ruth. Yes,
- 33:13Speaker 4: what's funny? What tends to even play for? Who knows? Nobody? Yankees?
- 33:19Speaker 4: And then his response is ignores and continues his rant.
- 33:23Speaker 5: It was already played for the Boston Red Sox. It
- 33:25Speaker 5: was like, wait a minute, this is gag. And he
- 33:27Speaker 5: actually did play for the Socks. But yeah, he was
- 33:30Speaker 5: a picture for the Socks.
- 33:31Speaker 4: I thought. And then then when the Yankees hit, I think,
- 33:34Speaker 4: you say he didn't play for the Yankes, and I
- 33:36Speaker 4: was like, my whole life is a lie. I swear
- 33:37Speaker 4: he played for the Yankees. It's like a fil reference
- 33:41Speaker 4: here Australia Garriol but Senior played his first couple years
- 33:44Speaker 4: at Hawthorne. Yeah, and they let him go. There are
- 33:52Speaker 4: always those tales about okay, you take this or you
- 33:54Speaker 4: take this?
- 33:56Speaker 5: Why don't keep reading recently because it keeps coming up
- 33:58Speaker 5: on social Media's like Vincent.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Price was offered like a cut of Thriller.
- 34:05Speaker 5: Royalty or twenty grand to Ida and he took twenty grand.
- 34:12Speaker 4: The best one is Alec Guinness McGinness is the Meginnis. Yes,
- 34:16Speaker 4: just Guinness, just get us. Yeah, taking the cut of
- 34:18Speaker 4: the merchandising.
- 34:20Speaker 5: Oh did you take the merchandising or just or just
- 34:22Speaker 5: got points in the movie? I thought it was merchandising
- 34:25Speaker 5: or was that Lucas Luke Lucas took them. He was
- 34:27Speaker 5: just like, don't pay me anything. I just one percentage
- 34:29Speaker 5: of something Guinness did. What a genius?
- 34:34Speaker 7: Teamwork is overrated? Think about it. I mean what team
- 34:39Speaker 7: was Babe ruth On who knows Yankees sharing is a
- 34:44Speaker 7: bunch of bulls too? And helping others and what's all
- 34:46Speaker 7: this crap I've been hearing about tolerance.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to
- 34:52Speaker 2: subscribe to your newsletter, but I think we have to
- 34:54Speaker 2: go and a retreat anyway.
- 34:56Speaker 4: They rub a mat useful, the strategic Granite Reserve and
- 34:59Speaker 4: then the car park. See this is just another one
- 35:00Speaker 4: of those rakes, just to kill some time, I guess.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Then Birds is running through all the different things and
- 35:05Speaker 4: realize family. As we said, it's just a way of
- 35:11Speaker 4: having Marge Bart Lisa make it in the episode, even
- 35:13Speaker 4: though make it didn't really do much anyway. Actually it
- 35:15Speaker 4: was just a little starfish. Yeah, there was one one
- 35:18Speaker 4: little nitpick I've got with the Marge toroyal and then
- 35:19Speaker 4: I'll bring up when we get to it. Okay, but
- 35:21Speaker 4: Marge says, you know, we can have lots of fun here,
- 35:24Speaker 4: right a mountain and then the range of rocks up
- 35:25Speaker 4: the first time we've seen. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts,
- 35:28Speaker 4: we've had to remove anything even the least bit entertaining. Well, goodbye.
- 35:31Speaker 4: Then Smithers is explaining about the map. I'll last my map.
- 35:33Speaker 4: You haven't been issued a map yet. Just setting up
- 35:36Speaker 4: the homisis an idiot. Then when you arrive you'll have
- 35:39Speaker 4: sealbratory savages and like affordable Yeah, something like that.
- 35:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I like as well. I mean, I'm trying to
- 35:48Speaker 5: remember if we've ever seen prior to this Smithers be
- 35:53Speaker 5: kind of flinty and a short tempered.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Because yeah, how man the Smithers. Oh yeah, I guess
- 36:00Speaker 4: tries to kill Homer. Point what about when he's walking
- 36:06Speaker 4: the street. Can't a man walked down the street if
- 36:08Speaker 4: had been offered a job. That's I believe the joy
- 36:13Speaker 4: of sect. That's the was it the note? It's the no, No,
- 36:16Speaker 4: that's the Hank scopia one.
- 36:19Speaker 5: Thanks for pointing the finger told me.
- 36:21Speaker 4: But yeah, the home of the Smithers is from season seven,
- 36:23Speaker 4: I believe. So, yeah, great, it's.
- 36:26Speaker 5: Just impossible to contend with their big brain Neils.
- 36:29Speaker 4: It's not at all. It's a wasted youth. I wouldn't
- 36:32Speaker 4: say wasted. I've made it my job right. It was
- 36:35Speaker 4: all ground work. Yes, it was just like laying the groundwork.
- 36:37Speaker 4: But yeah, So basically they're explaining that you need to
- 36:40Speaker 4: map you get salvatory sandwiches. Then the second last team
- 36:43Speaker 4: gets the trophy of worst employee and last gets fired.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Burns and says that even he and Smithers are going
- 36:48Speaker 4: to be so even we might get fired, not likely.
- 36:51Speaker 4: I always thought that delivering the reading of not bloody
- 36:54Speaker 4: likely just felt so odd because that's not what an
- 36:57Speaker 4: American would say. No, it was just weird, not bloody likely,
- 37:00Speaker 4: what the hell? Just it felt like a weird thing
- 37:03Speaker 4: for Burns to say, Yeah, because he's American. Yeah, I
- 37:07Speaker 4: say bloody at all, the bloody like I don't think
- 37:08Speaker 4: they and it's never really it made its way into
- 37:12Speaker 4: American bloody hell, the bloody bloody hell. Try put on
- 37:18Speaker 4: your best American accent, try to say bloody hell, which
- 37:20Speaker 4: which accent though I can't do American accents. But that's
- 37:24Speaker 4: what's blossomed, bloody, bloody, bloody hell. That's that's that's not
- 37:29Speaker 4: of an American. I don't know what it is. It's weird,
- 37:31Speaker 4: it's odd. Yes, the modern day bloody hell is for
- 37:36Speaker 4: fox sake, one word, yeah, fox sake? Is that is
- 37:40Speaker 4: that an ussy thing? Fox sake? I think?
- 37:43Speaker 5: So let's claim it.
- 37:44Speaker 4: Yeah, let's claim it.
- 37:47Speaker 5: But Americans don't say bloody.
- 37:49Speaker 2: It was.
- 37:49Speaker 4: It was a weird thing. Yeah. But as of saying that,
- 37:51Speaker 4: he says, if we might, then all the names are
- 37:53Speaker 4: in the hat. And Carl's annoyed that he gets put
- 37:56Speaker 4: with Lenny, I feel like oh nuts was the gag
- 37:59Speaker 4: of the week in the writer's room because it's get
- 38:01Speaker 4: said so often in this episode.
- 38:03Speaker 5: Yeah, it didn't feel like they were trying.
- 38:05Speaker 4: To create a catch right now. It's like, well, it's
- 38:07Speaker 4: a bit. Yeah, this is the bit Homer and Burns
- 38:10Speaker 4: get put together. Smithers's like, what do you mean? I
- 38:12Speaker 4: thought we were going to be reading this will frankly
- 38:14Speaker 4: be in a bit of a pill lately. What do
- 38:15Speaker 4: we always fight on vacation? Smith is now on his own.
- 38:19Speaker 4: I did love this and we paired with me and
- 38:22Speaker 4: it is wener. Smith's great, perfect, That's just perfect. We've
- 38:25Speaker 4: all been a situation where it just feels like nothing's
- 38:27Speaker 4: going right. But they start the race, shoots, the gun,
- 38:31Speaker 4: goes into the snow. Everyone starts running off, shooting stuff
- 38:33Speaker 4: out of the snow. I just got here. What a
- 38:35Speaker 4: great opening act. That's pretty good. Nothing was wasted, there
- 38:37Speaker 4: was no filler. It all set up the story. Yeah,
- 38:40Speaker 4: just really well handled. We're now at the visitor center
- 38:42Speaker 4: with Marche and the kids. Bart's with the bear and
- 38:45Speaker 4: this is one of the more iconic moments from the episode.
- 38:49Speaker 6: Only who can't prevent Forest Fires? You pressed you referring
- 38:55Speaker 6: to me, that is incorrect. The correct answer is you.
- 39:01Speaker 4: So he asked, can we go outside to play? Marge says, yep, sure,
- 39:04Speaker 4: no worries my nitpick use the term apple cheek, which
- 39:07Speaker 4: I liked. My nitpick is coming up though, a little
- 39:10Speaker 4: bit later, Marge says, but Lisa, where are you what
- 39:14Speaker 4: You've just told them they can go outside and play?
- 39:16Speaker 4: Why are you looking for them in the visitor center?
- 39:19Speaker 4: Have you looked outside? Well, no, it's like that's where
- 39:22Speaker 4: you told them they can go play. It's that microscopic
- 39:25Speaker 4: eye for detail that sets you apart.
- 39:28Speaker 5: It's that kind of.
- 39:29Speaker 4: Thing that's gonna get this man. I learned it from
- 39:35Speaker 4: you dead. Smithers is angry and we get the bony
- 39:39Speaker 4: all behind which slaye me as a kid.
- 39:41Speaker 1: How could you do this to me, mister Burns, After
- 39:43Speaker 1: all I've done for you, Why if you were here,
- 39:46Speaker 1: I kick you right near bony all behind bony.
- 39:49Speaker 6: All behind bony all behind bony all behind.
- 39:53Speaker 4: Bony behind the way.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Thank you Simpson. They have been watching my figure.
- 39:58Speaker 4: But then shoots the snowball off the tree. I like
- 40:01Speaker 4: the idea that he knew Lisa would enjoy the idea
- 40:03Speaker 4: the two snowflakes that identical to each other. Oh boy,
- 40:05Speaker 4: really and shoots the snowball hits mister Smithers, so he's
- 40:09Speaker 4: little Randy. Oh great, it's the Bubbsy Twins. I appreciate
- 40:12Speaker 4: the fact that he immediately apologized because it just felt
- 40:15Speaker 4: out a character for him to be mean to Button Lisa.
- 40:17Speaker 4: And it's just frustrated. He's just frustrated, And that's what happens.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Sometimes you get frustrated. Sometimes I say things. I go, okay, Al,
- 40:23Speaker 4: I'm sorry. I didn't meant to yell, but I'm just
- 40:25Speaker 4: I've had enough. Sometimes you just hit that breaking point
- 40:30Speaker 4: you I felt like the equivalent for you is when
- 40:31Speaker 4: technology is not working your way very much and you've
- 40:34Speaker 4: just had enough.
- 40:36Speaker 5: This is why Dan and I record in the same
- 40:38Speaker 5: room as opposed to try to do it remotely.
- 40:43Speaker 4: But just push push that button. But we couldn't. We
- 40:45Speaker 4: couldn't film it though. If you were in the same room,
- 40:48Speaker 4: that zoom in your face and it wouldn't. Yeah, you know,
- 40:53Speaker 4: no one likes that. Everyone likes that. They okay, but
- 40:57Speaker 4: they offered to help him, and yeah, I just thought
- 40:59Speaker 4: this was a great set up. Smithers button Lesa. You
- 41:01Speaker 4: don't see them sort of working together very often, so
- 41:03Speaker 4: it was just nice to something fresh, you know, something different,
- 41:06Speaker 4: And it's also nice to see someone The dynamic I
- 41:08Speaker 4: liked about this is that someone who isn't used to
- 41:11Speaker 4: having to deal with kids correct now has to hang
- 41:13Speaker 4: out with kids. But he also it's kind like a
- 41:14Speaker 4: big kid himsel because they see them in the Malibu
- 41:16Speaker 4: Stacey episode. He collecks right, the dolls and whatnot. So
- 41:19Speaker 4: he asked Bart for the time twelve eighty? What comes
- 41:23Speaker 4: after one? Was it twelve one? I said, after twelve?
- 41:25Speaker 4: How are your kids with after one? When with a
- 41:29Speaker 4: clock as opposed to a digital clock. They haven't quite
- 41:32Speaker 4: worked out the clock yet. Yeah. I wondering if the
- 41:34Speaker 4: kids are the kids of today, not just your kids,
- 41:36Speaker 4: the children they still teach them, I would hope. So, yeah,
- 41:42Speaker 4: they still teach them to right, thank God? Yeah?
- 41:44Speaker 5: Oh big hand in little hand.
- 41:45Speaker 4: Yeah yeah. Alice getting really good at reading and writing.
- 41:48Speaker 4: It's incredible. You know, he's been at school for six.
- 41:51Speaker 5: Months now and county toothpicks.
- 41:52Speaker 4: Yes, humans can just just learned, man like he's been God.
- 41:56Speaker 4: So it's incredible, Like how quickly. This picks it up.
- 41:58Speaker 4: He's like we're walking down the street. It's just like
- 41:59Speaker 4: the does that say Buxton? Like that the real estate.
- 42:02Speaker 4: I was like it does. He reads words and he
- 42:05Speaker 4: goes X exciting, fantastic, And I was like, these are
- 42:09Speaker 4: words you've never read.
- 42:10Speaker 5: Before, and it's why we need to teaching because I've
- 42:12Speaker 5: got no idea how to sort of teach that. Yeah,
- 42:14Speaker 5: but you really want to.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Yeah, Well we went to the classroom yesterday. It was
- 42:17Speaker 4: just afternoon that had like little parents can come in
- 42:19Speaker 4: for the last half and hour kind of thing and
- 42:21Speaker 4: just watching the class work and just the way, just
- 42:24Speaker 4: the basics. And you're like, I probably did this same
- 42:26Speaker 4: thing to learn as but I don't remember. I don't
- 42:29Speaker 4: remember how I learned. It's just because I just know
- 42:31Speaker 4: how to do it. Yeah, you don't remember, as we
- 42:32Speaker 4: said before, how to lay the groundwork. Yeah, okay, Yes,
- 42:35Speaker 4: this is the alphabet, and this is how certain words
- 42:38Speaker 4: sound together, and way this word is a bit like
- 42:40Speaker 4: that words it might sound a bit like that, oh
- 42:42Speaker 4: that kind of business thing.
- 42:43Speaker 5: We're humans.
- 42:46Speaker 4: We're not bad, so we are bad. Oh we're bad,
- 42:49Speaker 4: not bad at some things. We're well designed, revolved well, yes,
- 42:54Speaker 4: it could be better though.
- 42:55Speaker 5: We're working on that down Elon's working on that.
- 42:58Speaker 4: But speaking of people who are doing the wrong thing,
- 42:59Speaker 4: but right reveals here that there's this far too much.
- 43:02Speaker 4: I always bring it back, far too much hysteria about
- 43:04Speaker 4: the so called cheating. It's my dude, is American to
- 43:07Speaker 4: do it? If I can capitalize in a situation, just
- 43:09Speaker 4: justifies it. And home at the end, mister burns eye
- 43:11Speaker 4: assist that we cheat. And you always hear that the
- 43:17Speaker 4: Olympics have just wrapped up. Yeah, you know, I watched
- 43:19Speaker 4: one sport for about fifteen minutes. I bought the fifteen
- 43:22Speaker 4: dollar package from Stan didn't watch any of it. Nick,
- 43:25Speaker 4: I'm like, the Olympics have finished. I'm always excited by
- 43:27Speaker 4: the idea of the Olympics, and then they come around
- 43:31Speaker 4: and we just watch mad Men. What.
- 43:35Speaker 5: First of all, I can't I can't fault that. I
- 43:37Speaker 5: mean watching we gave up on Lost. You gave up
- 43:40Speaker 5: on the Lost.
- 43:40Speaker 4: We got two seasons in season Finally of season two,
- 43:43Speaker 4: I went to Nicola. I just don't tell much other
- 43:46Speaker 4: stuff happening. Well, it's just it's stupid. The point that
- 43:49Speaker 4: it lost me. Right, I was just one little quick
- 43:51Speaker 4: grand viewers of Lost will understand. They want to get
- 43:55Speaker 4: into this room. It's like a hatch hid the hatch,
- 43:58Speaker 4: and they want to blow it up. This this guy Echo,
- 44:01Speaker 4: mister Echo, wants to blow it up, right, yes, So
- 44:03Speaker 4: he sets off this giant Dyna white bomb in this
- 44:05Speaker 4: hallway where there's no escape, right, and he gets encased
- 44:09Speaker 4: in the flames. Just this whole hallways full of flames.
- 44:13Speaker 4: He's incinerated. Right. Five minutes later we come back, he's
- 44:16Speaker 4: just laying on the floor. He's closed out of and burnt.
- 44:18Speaker 4: His skin's not burned. I'm just like, I'm done. I'm
- 44:21Speaker 4: just done. And we did. We just went through Disney
- 44:23Speaker 4: Plus and read the descriptions of each episode and then
- 44:26Speaker 4: we watched it. And we watched like the last fifteen
- 44:29Speaker 4: minutes of the final episode, and I was like, thank god,
- 44:32Speaker 4: we didn't commit six seasons to this ship. But then Madman.
- 44:35Speaker 4: I was like, because I really want to start watching
- 44:36Speaker 4: Madman again. So we started rewatching it yesterday and what
- 44:40Speaker 4: a show?
- 44:41Speaker 5: What a show?
- 44:41Speaker 4: What's it on?
- 44:42Speaker 5: Is which streamer?
- 44:43Speaker 4: I have the physical cupies? I'm ready It's also on Netflix.
- 44:48Speaker 4: Oh cool, yes, but I want to watch it with
- 44:49Speaker 4: Calvin Cannies. We're going to do a TV launch port
- 44:53Speaker 4: on mad Man. Maybe we should. Yeah, we'll throw it
- 44:55Speaker 4: into the people. The current one is Cheers or Fraser,
- 44:58Speaker 4: and at the moment Fraser is when oh, okay, yeah,
- 45:01Speaker 4: I was kind of the point I wanted to do Cheers.
- 45:03Speaker 4: One thing let people vote is that democracy doesn't work.
- 45:08Speaker 5: It's a bad time to say that my choices were
- 45:11Speaker 5: Cheers or Frasier. Not the pole should be between Cheers
- 45:15Speaker 5: and Fraught. I thought they're two good options. They are
- 45:18Speaker 5: two good options. It also means you didn't do the work,
- 45:20Speaker 5: you didn't come.
- 45:20Speaker 4: Up with them. No, well, I was going to suggest Cheers,
- 45:22Speaker 4: and then you're just to Cheers a prasi and I
- 45:23Speaker 4: was like, oh, you've already suggested one of mine. So
- 45:25Speaker 4: I just I'll clean the loser. You can clean the winner.
- 45:28Speaker 4: You say that, okay, fine, No, it's good. What do
- 45:30Speaker 4: you think of I thought of wholesome sitcom Cheers just
- 45:32Speaker 4: coming straight to my mind, wholesome sickcoms because of the
- 45:35Speaker 4: theme song. I guess no, just the ever vibe with
- 45:37Speaker 4: the show is just wholesome, isn't it? Norm to you?
- 45:41Speaker 4: My hero is it's that guy.
- 45:42Speaker 5: I don't know if it is at the very end
- 45:45Speaker 5: of the cheers grand sequence, but it's the guy who's
- 45:47Speaker 5: just he looks so happy, that guy. Yeah, everything's going
- 45:52Speaker 5: that guy's way. Yeah, what today is?
- 45:54Speaker 4: What a lord?
- 45:56Speaker 5: Okay, where were we?
- 45:58Speaker 4: He's better to reveal the horseless sleigh. He's like, well,
- 46:00Speaker 4: you do know a lot about hitting. I'm older than you.
- 46:04Speaker 4: And they seek when Homer gets on a lot of
- 46:05Speaker 4: callbacks in this, so the all nuts is a bit
- 46:07Speaker 4: of a callback. And then he says it call back
- 46:08Speaker 4: to when Kyl says him seeking in the snow? Here
- 46:10Speaker 4: is a call back to when Burns sunk in the
- 46:11Speaker 4: snow with a gun? Or is it just them reusing gags?
- 46:15Speaker 4: Let's just go a callback.
- 46:16Speaker 5: I'm I'm trying to write a script at the moment.
- 46:22Speaker 5: I'm trying to do this forever but committed for August,
- 46:25Speaker 5: like get a whole bunch of shit down on paper.
- 46:28Speaker 5: And I'm finding as I'm going, he's.
- 46:29Speaker 4: Like, oh, this relates. It's even unconscious I'm that good.
- 46:34Speaker 4: But I'm like, oh, oh this can relate to that. Oh,
- 46:37Speaker 4: I've got themes.
- 46:38Speaker 5: And ideas that are calling back and echoing all through
- 46:41Speaker 5: this thing. So I'm gonna get him the benefit the
- 46:43Speaker 5: doubt and say it's all deliberate.
- 46:45Speaker 4: It's a callback. But they went back at the visitor center.
- 46:48Speaker 4: Now this is where Marge is looking for Barton Lisa.
- 46:51Speaker 4: I just never got this. I don't understand the point
- 46:53Speaker 4: of it, the whole John John Muir Moire whatever. It is,
- 46:58Speaker 4: him being sort of slowing his each and March being
- 47:00Speaker 4: sort of scared by the video it was. It's the
- 47:03Speaker 4: most bizarre scene. Yeah, it feels more if I'd rather
- 47:06Speaker 4: a chalk gag this said of this, it feels more
- 47:08Speaker 4: like texture than anything that actually moves the story forward.
- 47:10Speaker 4: I think they're trying to say, oh, it's a weird play.
- 47:13Speaker 4: They said before.
- 47:14Speaker 5: About how look how funding has been cut and there's
- 47:17Speaker 5: nothing fun anymore. They haven't had a chance to update
- 47:19Speaker 5: or upgrade this in a very long time. This is
- 47:22Speaker 5: stuff that was probably a huge hit in like nineteen
- 47:24Speaker 5: thirty eight.
- 47:25Speaker 4: I feel like this is Dan Castlenada made the funny
- 47:28Speaker 4: voice in the writers. Oh we're gonna work that in somewhere.
- 47:30Speaker 5: We're working in some way. I mean imagine like close
- 47:33Speaker 5: to one hundred years ago. You know, you you don't
- 47:37Speaker 5: have the television. You don't mean you don't know shit, like, wow,
- 47:41Speaker 5: an expedition to the woods, fantastic, and that looks like
- 47:44Speaker 5: a human being.
- 47:44Speaker 4: It's not that, but it's talking to me. What's what?
- 47:48Speaker 4: What devilry? Is this talking bad? Yeah?
- 47:52Speaker 5: It would blow your fucking mind. But now they've got
- 47:56Speaker 5: no money. It's like, oh, this is a big hit
- 47:58Speaker 5: of seventy five years go.
- 48:00Speaker 4: But and it's still But this was a projector right,
- 48:04Speaker 4: this wasn't a statue.
- 48:05Speaker 5: Oh no, no, but I'm talking about yeah, just exhibits and things.
- 48:09Speaker 5: Just it was a big deal back.
- 48:10Speaker 4: In the day.
- 48:11Speaker 5: And you have not kept pace with the times. What's
- 48:13Speaker 5: like by virtual being lazy or not having any money
- 48:15Speaker 5: or something like that. I put on dinosaurs, the Hanson
- 48:18Speaker 5: Jim handsOn dinosaurs, not the Mama the baby right for
- 48:20Speaker 5: Allien now who likes dinosaurs, and they can't.
- 48:23Speaker 4: Just quite get it. They're like, yeah, but they're not
- 48:25Speaker 4: real dinosaurs. I'm like, yeah, but you do understand that
- 48:28Speaker 4: the magic it's got into making this show, they're real.
- 48:30Speaker 4: They existed. I put the cartoon and I'm like, but
- 48:33Speaker 4: that's that's not real.
- 48:34Speaker 5: These seas are not real, but they're real.
- 48:38Speaker 4: That there's people in there that this is. This is
- 48:40Speaker 4: robots and stuff.
- 48:41Speaker 5: It's good that you've been big up being Elliott and
- 48:44Speaker 5: his curiosity and his obviously big brain that he got
- 48:47Speaker 5: from his dad and of course Nikola Nikola, but he's
- 48:52Speaker 5: still got to grasp suspension of disbelief.
- 48:56Speaker 4: We're not quite there. Whoa, we're halfway there. Watches Drussic
- 49:00Speaker 4: Park now and he's like, yeah, I've watunate and he goes,
- 49:04Speaker 4: they're not real, are there? I was like, no, they're
- 49:05Speaker 4: not around. He's like, they look really like I.
- 49:07Speaker 5: Know, should have been around ninety three games.
- 49:11Speaker 4: That's the beauty of the Joussy Park one. It's like
- 49:13Speaker 4: there's not much cgi That fucking t rex was there.
- 49:17Speaker 4: Oh absolutely, it was terrifying. Oh you were there, but
- 49:20Speaker 4: I mean blew our mind. I was seeing for the
- 49:22Speaker 4: first time, going, I know that other ship ain't real,
- 49:25Speaker 4: but that's a fucking dinosaur.
- 49:28Speaker 5: All right. But we're back at the place.
- 49:30Speaker 4: Yeah, margin she's looking around the visitor center. This is
- 49:34Speaker 4: a center and she says, we're to find my kids.
- 49:36Speaker 4: So I like it. It's called mant useful. Yeah, I
- 49:38Speaker 4: just find that funny goes to find them on the
- 49:40Speaker 4: chair lift and the chances finding them are slim to nils.
- 49:42Speaker 4: There they are and they wave smiders waving as well.
- 49:48Speaker 5: I think, yeah, what happens now? Actually, you know, folds
- 49:51Speaker 5: into my theory about Yeah, they just can't upgrade anything.
- 49:54Speaker 5: It's like, oh, there's Breton, No how the world?
- 49:58Speaker 4: It's just Margin's story. The ranger is actually quite funny throughout,
- 50:02Speaker 4: isn't it? Yeah? What was was making with her at
- 50:04Speaker 4: this point?
- 50:04Speaker 6: Though?
- 50:04Speaker 4: Was maggy? Was she holding making on the chair lift?
- 50:07Speaker 4: Seems dangerous? I don't remember, Yeah, not quite sure. But
- 50:10Speaker 4: Burns and Homer now celebrating. You know, you're the richest
- 50:13Speaker 4: guy I know, more than Lenny. So is that was
- 50:16Speaker 4: that sort of thing that Lenny was apparently rich? Covermber
- 50:19Speaker 4: There was a gag where he's got a wife and
- 50:21Speaker 4: who knows. They change it all the time. Sometimes he says,
- 50:23Speaker 4: don't put in tep people the rich. Who knows? But
- 50:27Speaker 4: our Burns here, have I skipped something? Oh it actually
- 50:29Speaker 4: I've skipped Something've skippedhere birds and have arrived.
- 50:31Speaker 8: We have several hours before the others arrive. Let's see
- 50:34Speaker 8: we get comfitte. Now we have electricity. This propeane tank
- 50:38Speaker 8: wills the players were heat and this doorner properly turned
- 50:43Speaker 8: will allow us access to the cabin.
- 50:47Speaker 2: No going through the window for us.
- 50:50Speaker 4: And therese where the kids are just annoying with this.
- 50:51Speaker 4: My favorite bit was Bart saying knows gold dis mountain,
- 50:54Speaker 4: I don't know, I need check. What did you find
- 50:58Speaker 4: that had like a spread? A true? True? Are there
- 51:01Speaker 4: any animals that aren't injured? And there's and there's damn
- 51:03Speaker 4: virus whatever. Now they're celebrating and then I lock the
- 51:06Speaker 4: you're the riches go, I know, I trade it all
- 51:08Speaker 4: for a little more. Long's philosophy are life?
- 51:12Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 51:12Speaker 4: Yeah, And they boast about a good sit yes. And
- 51:16Speaker 4: as you're sitting in the sheet, it's like this when
- 51:18Speaker 4: you just relax, you're like this is great.
- 51:20Speaker 5: Oh yeah, it's like you ever tried this one?
- 51:23Speaker 4: We'll our couch now has zero gravity excuse me. So
- 51:27Speaker 4: basically it feels like you're floating when you're laying down
- 51:29Speaker 4: now it feels like you're floating in water essentially, not
- 51:32Speaker 4: not water like a waterbed, but you feel like you're waitless.
- 51:35Speaker 4: You realize that when we've wrapped up these episodes, I'm
- 51:37Speaker 4: gonna go other sit like it's it's weird because you
- 51:40Speaker 4: go on back and then because your legs are on
- 51:42Speaker 4: the foot rest, if you just look not slightly the
- 51:44Speaker 4: legs rest coach, they're sort of uplight that, so your
- 51:46Speaker 4: legs are sort of like elevated a bit. So you're
- 51:47Speaker 4: sort of laying there and you're like the back massage happening,
- 51:50Speaker 4: and it's like, I don't it looks like you were
- 51:53Speaker 4: doing home this thing where it's like, oh, yeah, see, Homer, Homer,
- 51:57Speaker 4: because you said Nicola and I were very rare treat
- 52:00Speaker 4: ourselves to things like, you know, a nice couch or
- 52:02Speaker 4: a nice bed. So when we were just like you
- 52:04Speaker 4: know what, we'll got shot of the catch, we went,
- 52:06Speaker 4: let's just fucking treat ourselves. We bought the most expensive
- 52:09Speaker 4: gag they had with all the glitz and the glamor,
- 52:11Speaker 4: and then arrived. We're all like, good on us, well done,
- 52:14Speaker 4: We've earned this. We looked over the kids and just
- 52:18Speaker 4: a fucking mess, and I was like, we have earned
- 52:19Speaker 4: this a lot. Yeah, but yes, as I said that,
- 52:22Speaker 4: the celebrating the good sit, the only hard part is
- 52:26Speaker 4: getting up. So he shows him the move to get
- 52:27Speaker 4: the dip and he's now in his debt. Then they
- 52:30Speaker 4: cheers with the wine glass, which causes the avalanche. It's
- 52:33Speaker 4: a nice to Act too. Act three the act too
- 52:38Speaker 4: and Act three is trying to get out of this situation,
- 52:40Speaker 4: a good point.
- 52:42Speaker 5: I liked how Homer is just you would think that
- 52:46Speaker 5: this is going to set up the avalanche, but no,
- 52:48Speaker 5: it's the thing of the champage glasses. It's an obvious gag,
- 52:52Speaker 5: but it's a good gag.
- 52:53Speaker 4: Lenny, here's something, He's like, here's something did I? I
- 52:58Speaker 4: don't know? So you can kind of see that Lenny
- 53:00Speaker 4: would be annoying. But you know this it felt out
- 53:01Speaker 4: of nowhere a little bit, didn't it.
- 53:03Speaker 5: This antagonism, Yeah, felt new and quite frankly I didn't
- 53:06Speaker 5: like it.
- 53:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I've never liked it. Home and then checks the
- 53:08Speaker 4: doors and the windows and see the snow's coming in
- 53:10Speaker 4: like that. It's felt very classic Simpson to go back
- 53:12Speaker 4: to the door again. Yes, and then they realized there's
- 53:15Speaker 4: no way out. The Burns sends the telegraph the SOS
- 53:18Speaker 4: and where does it go?
- 53:21Speaker 5: What's his name?
- 53:21Speaker 4: Moose? Samuel Moore? Samuel Moore, that's right. The exhibit ye
- 53:25Speaker 4: in the museum has a little cob web on it. Yeah. Yeah,
- 53:28Speaker 4: no one's going to museums. But I feel like I
- 53:30Speaker 4: feel like museums are made. If someone of ad comeback,
- 53:32Speaker 4: I feel like they're not cool. But people more kind
- 53:34Speaker 4: to go out to the museums Now I think so. Yeah,
- 53:37Speaker 4: But for a while there, maybe it's just my age.
- 53:39Speaker 4: At the time, I was like, I gone to a museum.
- 53:40Speaker 4: Now that I'm older, I'm like, you know what, it's
- 53:41Speaker 4: a good museum. Good god. Oh, I knew I was
- 53:52Speaker 4: getting old. We're driving on the other day and I
- 53:54Speaker 4: was like, hey, kids, No, when I was a kid,
- 53:56Speaker 4: this Nicholas like, look at you. This did I was like,
- 53:57Speaker 4: oh no, I'm old man Dando. I was like this
- 54:00Speaker 4: when I used to live and this is you know,
- 54:01Speaker 4: when I was a kid, this was here, and then
- 54:02Speaker 4: that was that. Good Times said some take a good
- 54:06Speaker 4: look around because it's your hometown. Lenny and Carlon arrive,
- 54:11Speaker 4: but there's nothing there. They can't find it. Oh maybe
- 54:13Speaker 4: it was like metaphorical. They said there'd be sandwiches. If
- 54:17Speaker 4: you're probably sandwiches and there's no sandwiches, you would be
- 54:19Speaker 4: somewhat disappointed.
- 54:21Speaker 5: Let me tell you something when we when we wrap
- 54:24Speaker 5: up recording today, I am a good sandwich. Well, yeah,
- 54:26Speaker 5: because I'm going to Melbourne tonight to see a previous
- 54:29Speaker 5: screening of Alien Romulus.
- 54:31Speaker 4: Oh why was my invite? Probably could have it, probably
- 54:34Speaker 4: could have come along. Okay, next time, next time. Yeah,
- 54:39Speaker 4: I'm going to see Trap. See I haven't I haven't
- 54:42Speaker 4: seen tramp. Oh I'm going to see it. I'm seeing
- 54:44Speaker 4: it tomorrow tonight with Nico on Tuesday tonight.
- 54:46Speaker 5: Yeah, on day night.
- 54:48Speaker 4: Yeah, that's very nice because like, what are we going
- 54:50Speaker 4: to have seen? I'm like, trap? Is this the first trap?
- 54:53Speaker 4: And they know it's just a trap, but you know
- 54:54Speaker 4: he is kind of a first trap and you're going.
- 54:56Speaker 5: To the first step three. That's what you should have said.
- 54:59Speaker 5: She it's implied. Yes, So I'm seeing that tonight. I'm
- 55:02Speaker 5: gonna leave a bit early and I'm going to stop
- 55:04Speaker 5: by Rocos Delicatestan in Yarraville because they.
- 55:06Speaker 4: Do a fucking excellent sand Shout out to Rocos.
- 55:09Speaker 5: Shout out to Rocos, friend of the pot. I'm the
- 55:10Speaker 5: only friend of guys.
- 55:11Speaker 4: I'm going to quickly look up Rocos the Rocos Delhi Yes,
- 55:15Speaker 4: in Reville. Is it a forty five minute detour? Like
- 55:18Speaker 4: the fucking donut shot was that time? No, but I
- 55:20Speaker 4: might go to that donut think one hundred and sixty
- 55:22Speaker 4: thousand follows on Instagram. It must be, it must be decent.
- 55:25Speaker 4: Oh they do it just just one store, Yeah, tiny
- 55:29Speaker 4: little deli. Holy fuck, look at those sandwiches, know right,
- 55:32Speaker 4: that's insane.
- 55:34Speaker 5: Use your magic editing skills, you or Zach with the
- 55:37Speaker 5: video to sort of cut in just a not even
- 55:39Speaker 5: subliminal shot.
- 55:40Speaker 4: Of like sandwich. There's just there's a timeless of them
- 55:43Speaker 4: putting all this excess meat on a roll. Don't Is
- 55:46Speaker 4: that just how much you get on a normal one?
- 55:48Speaker 4: Or that this like double meat, double meat, double meat.
- 55:49Speaker 5: I don't think it's double meat, but you the basic
- 55:52Speaker 5: role is comes with you know, all the anti pasto
- 55:55Speaker 5: stuff and you can put either two or three meats
- 55:59Speaker 5: in there and we.
- 56:00Speaker 4: Get Proshuoto and mortar Della. That's insane. Really, we need
- 56:03Speaker 4: to get these guys friends in the pot. I think
- 56:06Speaker 4: so I'm gonna starting other people say, hey want to be
- 56:08Speaker 4: fans in the parks? And how often do we talk
- 56:13Speaker 4: about sandwiches all the time? We should be eating sandwiches
- 56:17Speaker 4: right now. On the podcast Rocks if you're listening or watching,
- 56:20Speaker 4: say us some sandwiches. Yeah, I will take a picture
- 56:22Speaker 4: of myself with the sandwich. I'll try to please don't no, no,
- 56:28Speaker 4: but I'll try to be like the Homer one. Yeah, yeah, no,
- 56:33Speaker 4: you have to do a time lapse and like after
- 56:34Speaker 4: a week, Louise, I'd like to be lowered the sandwich
- 56:38Speaker 4: for a minute. You're gonna eat it, yes, but anyway, yes,
- 56:42Speaker 4: so I'm definitely going to rock as for a good
- 56:45Speaker 4: sandwich seems like a good decision. Yes, all right? Are
- 56:49Speaker 4: you going a message from Zach? How are you going
- 56:50Speaker 4: to Zach? I won't read it what he says as guys,
- 56:54Speaker 4: shut up yet, tangents please no more? But yeah, I
- 57:01Speaker 4: sort of saying, so basically, they think there's gonna be
- 57:04Speaker 4: sandwiches there, and there's no sandwiches. Yep son. We panned
- 57:06Speaker 4: down and see birds in Homer a stake. By the way,
- 57:08Speaker 4: did I mention I'm gonna have a sandwich? Lad did? Yes?
- 57:10Speaker 4: From Roccos Dali in Narroville. So they panned down and
- 57:13Speaker 4: we see birds and Homer are digging their way out.
- 57:16Speaker 4: So I'm not the digger I promised. I was started supervising. Yes,
- 57:19Speaker 4: I can start supervised supervisor's home. They get out. Hope
- 57:22Speaker 4: it does a good job here. Home is actually good
- 57:24Speaker 4: in this episode. It makes mistakes so that it brings
- 57:28Speaker 4: the family. But like that was innocent of course. Yeah,
- 57:31Speaker 4: and then you know Burns an associated what am I king?
- 57:34Speaker 4: Burns and teammate. They get out, They give a high five,
- 57:36Speaker 4: which causes another avalanche, and if you noticed, just before
- 57:39Speaker 4: the commercial break, he says, don't and then another avalanche
- 57:42Speaker 4: starts just before the commercial break. We come back there,
- 57:44Speaker 4: speaking very quietly because they're causing more avalanches. What happened?
- 57:51Speaker 2: You think when we yield because another avalanche.
- 57:56Speaker 3: We should be careful not to speak unless it's absolutely
- 58:09Speaker 3: persively necessary.
- 58:18Speaker 9: You are gosh avalancious than I think, Dame Adopt.
- 58:34Speaker 4: Let's go. So they start blaming each other, now that
- 58:38Speaker 4: the last one was your faults and now Kevin favs
- 58:40Speaker 4: starting to get in and this is this is exactly
- 58:43Speaker 4: what would happen after a while, probably about this quickly,
- 58:44Speaker 4: but after a whid be like, oh, well, if.
- 58:47Speaker 5: You're in a tense and possibly life threatening situation, you know,
- 58:51Speaker 5: friends really are, Yeah, there's a chance you're gonna blame
- 58:55Speaker 5: it on someone. It's like, I wouldn't even be here
- 58:56Speaker 5: if it wasn't exactly that kind of stuff.
- 58:59Speaker 4: Does he say? Is this where says it's like so
- 59:02Speaker 4: so buttons? Yes? What the Burns? So Lenny and car
- 59:09Speaker 4: then find the new cabin. They think, well, I think
- 59:11Speaker 4: this must be it because there's nothing else around. Burns
- 59:14Speaker 4: and finds the Berzuka Joe comic which he read seven
- 59:16Speaker 4: years ago, and the Hammer suggests maybe should build snow
- 59:18Speaker 4: men we built real man. Even Homer's like, oh shit,
- 59:20Speaker 4: this guy.
- 59:21Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, he's doing a whole.
- 59:25Speaker 4: It's the Spirits moose. Yes, get in. Yeah, everyone is
- 59:28Speaker 4: cold in the other cabin. Why is that cold? There's
- 59:31Speaker 4: a fire. Shouldn't it be fine? But it's no propane,
- 59:33Speaker 4: I guess, and Lenny chucks the moose in. They walk in,
- 59:36Speaker 4: Spiers and the kids. The moose is on fire. Good.
- 59:38Speaker 4: I don't care. I'm last. I'm going to be fired. No,
- 59:41Speaker 4: you're not last. I just love the way that they
- 59:43Speaker 4: always refer to birds as birds by and help I
- 59:45Speaker 4: have made it.
- 59:50Speaker 5: I think Lenny really wants to like Burns or or
- 59:54Speaker 5: just wants his approval. I means everyone's approval, which is
- 59:56Speaker 5: based solely on the fact that the fact that he
- 59:59Speaker 5: just called Burns and also the thumbs up there.
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: Yes, there's all my evidence. It's just a nice guy.
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: But I feel like they made Lenny pathetic as the
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: seasons went on, as opposed to as growing When I
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: was growing up, it always felt like, who's the one
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: Simpsons character you'd want to be as your friend. It
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: just felt like Lenny. Lenny was the one. You just
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: felt like it feel like you'd have your back, You'd
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: always be around, hey len Cover watching footy? Yeah, sure go,
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: you nothing else to do, Like you feel he'd always
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: be there when you want him, And then it's made
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: not there when you don't. Yes, and then it has
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: made him annoying pathetic as the show went on. But
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: so they've realized here that Homer and Birds are trapped
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: in the cabin and Spinders is concerned about Burns, and
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: are the kids concerned about Homer? Obviously, then they're building
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: their snowmen. He's less a snowmen than a guards got
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: full toowty lips. Yes, he has indeed, what fifty meters
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: or fifty miles fifty meters of small intens and he
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: says fifty miles, though, does he yeah, because I was
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: just thinking about the coming. Surely that can't be right.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: He says, small intestine? How long small intest and is
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: twenty two feet seven meters on average? Okay, he does
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: say fifty miles, though, it says, Well says this is miles.
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: I'm certain I was just like that seems like a lot.
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: That's a lot of smaller. So then he says, well,
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: we'll managed to stay off cabin fever for a few hours,
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: and Homer suggests dressing them. Yes, let's do that. So
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: they take their clothes off to dress these snowmen. Burns
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: stinks look at them with their cloves makias and makes
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: home a paranoid as well, what do we do? Wouldn't
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: you like to know? Burn's lost his mind? Yes, yes.
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: The Ranger and Margin arrive at the cabin and they realize, Hey,
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: the other cabin should be over there. I know this
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: is the Ranger station. I'll like the get my way.
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: You were drunk, where's Ranger or whatever? I'm right here
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: behind and drunk. They realize the cabin's gone, though.
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: The only other cabin is right over there.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: Huh, look at all these avalanches. Do you think they
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: could have buried the cabin.
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: Well, I'll tell you one thing.
- 1:01:51Speaker 6: They didn't come here for the Mountain Music Festival March
- 1:01:54Speaker 6: fourteenth to eighteenth.
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: He reminds me of remember the b guy, you know,
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: the guy that's just like quiet little two quite remember
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: the guys that worked at the bee Hive and got
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: the sugar. That's right, Simpson, you die burns in Homer
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: then have their stare off. He's trying to hypnotize me
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: the good Las Vegas. Well, I've always been intrigued by
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: the idea of hypnotism, and gone, I don't believe it,
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: but I feel like I have to try it, just
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: to just to confirm with myself, to just just to
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: make sure, because I don't believe it's true.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: Right, But how would you know?
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: But you wouldn't. This is the thing. If I, Nicko
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: would have to be there, right, and if I get
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: hypnotized and remember it, Nicola would wouldn't bullshit hold the
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: camera up? Yeah, yeah, so you actually did clock like
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: a chicken? Yeah yeah, yeah, you dropped your pants and
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: you're saying what my gray may show it what she
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: used to be. You know what I mean, just you
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: don't let me hypnotized. That was no, but Burns then says,
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: you know, I think use me as a carcass and
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: ribe me down the hill. So they have a big fight.
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: Burns genuinely tries to kill Homer Hill the fire poker.
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: But this, this is a bit where they've got the
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: imaginary army's behind them, right, yeah, political powers. I never
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: liked that line for some reason.
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: I just didn't.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: I didn't feel home. I did it no, and it
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: didn't feel like much of a gag. Just feels a
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: bit silly. Yeah. I don't know anyway what Sportswater thinks
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: about it. I would just love to know what did here.
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: Probably not his gag, now maybe it was his. I
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: don't think it was his game completely rewrote it. He
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: would have had the cabin fever aspect to it. I'd
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: just love to know how Sportsword would handle this. I
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: always thought that was a bit odd as well. John Buddy,
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: come on the show, let us know. I don't have
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: to be here. Give me you and Dando hit the head,
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: but he cuts open the the propane. Yes, Hank Kill style.
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: That's what I was thinking every time. It's all propane,
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: and they realized about to go down. Homer buddy. They
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: embraced the house flies off, completely unrealistic, this would never happen.
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: But whatever, what the ranger, Let's take him over to
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: him with the children. Kids, Your dad's going to be
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: just okay. Put on your cop handing gloves. You've got
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: some frozen bodies out there, but but buys it here.
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: At least that's gonna be okay. Then Lisa sees the
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: cabin and knows he hits a shrew on the way through.
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: Yeahs hits on the shrewes home appraiser did protect his
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: roucket house and all within this everyone bails. What's Lenny say?
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: Keketron's breaks whatever, whatever, and the cabin stops next to them.
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: Lenny Yeah, walks out and uh, marg kids and Burns
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: reminds them it's still a competition. Last one in gets fired.
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: They all run in. Lenny is last one in, nuts
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: Nuts gets fired. Then he asked, do we learn about teamwork?
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: We did? Letny's not fired after all? Lenny falls in
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: the hole nuts.
- 1:04:37Speaker 8: Well, Simpson, I must see, once you've been through something
- 1:04:41Speaker 8: like that with the person, you never want to see
- 1:04:44Speaker 8: that person again.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: You said it, Yeah, weirdo.
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: I like this ending in the sense that it sets
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: up the status quo, but it also doesn't They can
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: go either way because this ending here is very open ended.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: Smithers and Burns might still like each other, but they
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: probably won't. And I like the way that's loves to
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: open ended like that, because do you mean Homer and
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: Burns or Smithers Smiths. I meant Hammer and Burns. Yeah,
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: the way they're sort of like staring at laughing staring
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: because the thing is it gives you the chance to
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: and they do take this or try to have more
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: Homer Burns stories going forward. Well, it's it's like the
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: ending of the Breakfast club. Well you yes, that's the
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: end of the Breakfast.
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: But they have a bit where it's like, you know,
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: when we see each other in the halls on Monday,
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: will we even acknowledge each other?
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: So I don't know if we will.
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: I don't care.
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: I reckon they didn't hang out, but they just acknowledged.
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: There's an unspoken except from Bender John Bender, Yes, not
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: Bend to the Robot. I don't know. But Bender is
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: so cool. He's the bully, right he's But yes, I
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: feel like though, if they needed his help, he'd probably
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: help them.
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: He'd probably step up. He's underneath all the bravado on
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: the there's smoke up, Johnny, He's probably solemn enough.
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: Dude.
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: Yes, have you watched the documentary Brats about the Back
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: Have on Disney Play?
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, I saw the ad for it.
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: We got together for more. Margaret Mary's third ninety fourth
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: ye celebration on last the celebration on last Sunday.
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: The birthday is this Thursday. Happy Birthday, Margaret Mary.
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: And my sister Margin was.
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: Saying, if you say brats, it's terrible, and we went
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: off on Andrew mccarthury. Have you seen it? I have not,
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: but I've read, but I'd read a bit about it,
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: just like I don't like it. But do you and
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: your sister like the same things?
- 1:06:41Speaker 5: Margot?
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: Yes, okay, the other one fuck? Margaret and I had
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: kind of similar taste in a lot of in the
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: long regards. All right, Well, that is our review of
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: Mountain of Madness, A fantastic episode of the SIMPCE. It's
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: hard to go wrong when you go in like season
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: four through eight, isn't it. There's not too many duds, No,
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: there's a couple off we didn't get the Duds, a
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: couple of episodes that I just really don't like. I
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: also don't like they're not bad. It is my least favorite, okay,
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: my least favorite here it is, guys. My least favorite
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: Simpsons episode from the Golden era is My Sister, My Sitter,
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: where Lisa becomes the babysitter of Bart and Bart is
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: just for no reason being a shithead and ruining it
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: for Lisa, and it's just spiteful and it's not funny.
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: I remember the synoptis and the vague shape of it,
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: but I might have to go back and rewatch it,
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: and then you and I.
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: Can have a debate because I like Dana. This is
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: one of the best. We'll soon find out find out
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: or am I go?
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: Dando? You were right, as I often do.
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: Now I threw out to the patrons quickly for some
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: questions from out the badness? Should you get through a couple?
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: Bail is here.
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: Dan Stazinski, who we got it right? Yes, we got
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: it right.
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: He says, what did he just get married and just
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: had a kid?
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: Now it's the kid. Dan says, what would your first
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: actions be if you were snowed in depends what you
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: were snowed in as well.
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a good point. I probably killed Dando on
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: Eddie's body.
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: I don't think I can ever result of can It'd
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: have to be like last straw, don't you think?
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: Well, given that I just said, I would nobly sackos
- 1:08:07Speaker 5: myself in a burning building or something like that.
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I would probably not. Ben Lionzo says, have you
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: ever had to team up with a boss for something
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: before potentially realizing how could? Have you ever had to
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: team up with a boss before? Boss for something before
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: potentially realizing how you could take advantage of the situation?
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: So being is being with the boss and a team
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: or whatever tend with the boss?
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: No?
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: I never have.
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: I feel like the bosses always keep themselves separate, right, Yeah,
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: I think that's usually the way or the safest way
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: is and I've generally been my own boss. Yes, Teleah
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: in Riquez, How well would you to survive checking up
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: a mountain like the characters? Would you say the way
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: the ranger acted towards the kids was appropriate or would
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: you rather kids face the hard, cold truth? And who
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: would be support? Who would be who would support you?
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: In who would be support you in of your snowman
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: army delusions? I don't understand that, like question so toly,
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: who would be in your snowman army? Whould be in
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: the army? That is a delusion. I would have all right,
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: nineteen ninety eight Bill Golbo from WW. I would have
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: Connor McGregor. He's a madman.
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: He's sort of a very tough person.
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: Who would you have? I would have Dave Batista Batista? Okay, yeah,
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: I can't pronounce the guy's their name, Francis Nagano. He's
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: like an MMA guy.
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: I forgot. He's from an African country and he's just
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: a fucking slaughter house. Okay, yeah, I don't know. But
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: it would be fighters, essentially, fighters. I don't think we'd
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: have too many diplomats.
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: On political Political powers are useless in a war this
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: when it comes to the actual fist fighting.
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: That's true. Yeah, I mean you would think that if
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: you got political powers, is going to be diplomacy. But no,
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, Abraham Lincoln iss, let's get ready to rumble.
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: This was like a three part question from Talia say,
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: let's wand the tape back of it. What was the
- 1:09:56Speaker 5: first one.
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: How would you and I go survive your mountain like
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: the character? I think we do.
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, be fine, depending on the mountain.
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I applied. I nearly got through. I got through
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: to the final round of the Amazing Race once, like
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: to get onto the show with my old friend Michael.
- 1:10:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: We sent it out an audition tape. We had to
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: do sort of like a zoom call with him a
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: Skype I think it was at the time. It's like
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: twelve fifteen years ago. And then we got past that
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: and then we're down to like the final step, and
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: we didn't because Michael was that Michael couldn't get something
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: to do with his work. But we wouldn't have got
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: through anyway, but you wouldn't It worked out that we wouldn't.
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: We didn't get through, but even if we did, we
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: wouldn't have been able to do it something to do
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: with Michael's work. Yeah, okay, Yeah, I applied to be
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: on it and they said.
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: You're too amazing. Well, well, I said, look, I'm not
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: I'm not leaving Australia. I'm not going to be any
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: foreign country. And they said, well, you're too much of
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: an amazing racist to be on the Amazing Race. Oh yeah,
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: but yeah, I've always known this was that gag worth it.
- 1:10:45Speaker 5: I don't know you let me know.
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: All right. That'll do for the questions, because we've got
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: to do another podcast after this datement.
