- 0:04Speaker 1: Godfather, We're gonna stop Eric from his dancing because you're
- 0:09Speaker 1: gonna break some news to him right off the jump. Here,
- 0:11Speaker 1: can you tell your friend Eric, who watches almost every
- 0:14Speaker 1: Phillies game, what position Bryce Harper plays.
- 0:20Speaker 2: He now plays first base, Eric.
- 0:22Speaker 1: First base. Eric, he's not a catcher anymore. You were
- 0:25Speaker 1: following him when he was a superstar kid in Las
- 0:28Speaker 1: Vegas on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and he does
- 0:32Speaker 1: not catch anymore. Todd, do you want the context of
- 0:34Speaker 1: the story?
- 0:35Speaker 3: I would love to hear the context, because anything that
- 0:38Speaker 3: Eric says is usually gold gold.
- 0:43Speaker 1: So we were talking about the Phillies and how Boba
- 0:47Speaker 1: Schett could fit into the mix, and then how JT.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Real Muto and potentially Alec Boone would fit in the mix.
- 0:53Speaker 1: You'd probably trade bone blah blah blah. Right, So Kratz
- 0:55Speaker 1: is laying out what the positional lineup would look like
- 0:57Speaker 1: for the Phillies and he's like, yeah, and Bryce Harper
- 0:59Speaker 1: at catch. The backstory, Bryce Harper did play catcher back
- 1:03Speaker 1: in the day, so he was having fun with it.
- 1:05Speaker 1: If you're watching the whole segment, and really, if you
- 1:07Speaker 1: know Eric, you know how he's talking. If you cut
- 1:10Speaker 1: that into this little tiktoky clip and then you put
- 1:12Speaker 1: it online. Fans are like what. You have a subset
- 1:17Speaker 1: of fans that are like, this doesn't know ball. Bryce
- 1:20Speaker 1: Harper is a first base, not a catcher. Then you
- 1:22Speaker 1: have a subset of fans who are a little smarter,
- 1:24Speaker 1: who know the backstory that Bryce did catch when he
- 1:26Speaker 1: was a kid, and so they're like, krat they're not
- 1:29Speaker 1: going to move him to catcher. Bryce isn't going to
- 1:32Speaker 1: catch now. They're not going to do that just to
- 1:34Speaker 1: replace real Muto. And meanwhile, I'm like defending him on
- 1:38Speaker 1: a couple of them. And then Kratz just jumps into
- 1:39Speaker 1: one of the replies on Twitter and he was like, nah,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I was not kidding. I want Bryce to catch. So
- 1:45Speaker 1: he's just trolling everyone who's so stupid bubbled down.
- 1:51Speaker 2: That's tough. That's tough.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Krasty, know your stuff before you send stuff out. I'm
- 1:54Speaker 3: with the fans. I would have been barking at him too, Okay.
- 1:57Speaker 4: I don't I don't know. I don't know what I'm
- 1:59Speaker 4: talking about. Do you see what my career batting averages?
- 2:02Speaker 4: I know nothing about baseball? Every day, my favorite, my
- 2:07Speaker 4: favorite is every day When I hear this guy talk,
- 2:11Speaker 4: it's it's he knows less and less about baseball.
- 2:15Speaker 5: What a buffoon.
- 2:16Speaker 4: And I'm like, you listen to us every day, so happy,
- 2:21Speaker 4: thank you?
- 2:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Josh, of course, twenty years in pro ball, but
- 2:25Speaker 1: he knows nothing.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Do you know?
- 2:27Speaker 4: Two nine hitter, two nine hitter, brutal than better than most,
- 2:33Speaker 4: better than everybody in the world.
- 2:35Speaker 1: How about two nine hitter yet managed to be a
- 2:38Speaker 1: pro for twenty years?
- 2:40Speaker 5: Brutal?
- 2:41Speaker 4: I got pictures of people. It's either I got pictures
- 2:44Speaker 4: of people steroids. Let's see what else can we clip? Oh,
- 2:48Speaker 4: I'm Todd's friend. That's what happened twenty ten. When we
- 2:51Speaker 4: became friends, I was out of the game. I was
- 2:54Speaker 4: I was leaving the game. I just got called up
- 2:56Speaker 4: to the big Lees. I was leaving the game. Became
- 2:58Speaker 4: friends with Todd. All of a sudden. Every year somebody
- 3:02Speaker 4: would call me to be like, hey, don't you worry
- 3:05Speaker 4: about your game, right, I got it, don't worry about it.
- 3:07Speaker 4: You're gonna get a job somewhere. We'll take care of
- 3:09Speaker 4: you over here, all right. And I was like, who
- 3:12Speaker 4: is this? And they were like, don't call me back
- 3:15Speaker 4: next year. Same thing so I kept having a job.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Thanks for your you and your people, Todd New Jersey
- 3:21Speaker 4: for life.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll give you that one.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Somebody clipped that I love that all right. Anyway, let's
- 3:32Speaker 1: get into the news, Baba charging about We've been talking
- 3:38Speaker 1: about it. This is Todd Father's first show of the week,
- 3:41Speaker 1: so we'll get his thoughts too. What do you think
- 3:43Speaker 1: about Kyle Tucker getting thrown a fifty million dollars a
- 3:46Speaker 1: year offer. It sounds like it could go as high
- 3:48Speaker 1: as four years, so it could be maybe four years,
- 3:51Speaker 1: two hundred million. It probably includes opt outs. But it
- 3:54Speaker 1: also does sound Todd Father like the Blue Jays have
- 3:56Speaker 1: offered something very long term, could be seven, eight, nine,
- 4:00Speaker 1: even ten years on the table for someone like Kyle Tucker.
- 4:04Speaker 1: The easiest part of this before looking into who the
- 4:07Speaker 1: teams are with the location. Is am I wrong to
- 4:10Speaker 1: think that he's going to get way more guaranteed money
- 4:12Speaker 1: from the Blue Jays long term offer than anything else?
- 4:14Speaker 1: And so you take that or is there I guess
- 4:17Speaker 1: more to life than money.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I was about to talk into my mind went
- 4:25Speaker 3: right to what you said. Listen, if he's getting more years, yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 3: I would assume he's going to get more money.
- 4:32Speaker 2: But does he want options? You know?
- 4:33Speaker 3: I mean, in my opinion, I feel like if the
- 4:36Speaker 3: Blue Jays want him for six eight years whatever it is,
- 4:39Speaker 3: they're gonna want to lock him down for that six
- 4:41Speaker 3: eight years, no trade clause. All this other stuff without
- 4:45Speaker 3: going to another team will finish his career out there?
- 4:47Speaker 3: Do you want to go with the Mets with you know,
- 4:49Speaker 3: some options here and there? I'm glad all this stuff
- 4:53Speaker 3: is starting to come out, because you know, we we
- 4:55Speaker 3: were just waiting for somebody to start talking some money
- 4:58Speaker 3: here because we're January fifteenth.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Man, Holy cow, we got a month and next thing
- 5:03Speaker 2: you know, boom, we're goore.
- 5:05Speaker 3: But man, if you can get four years for two
- 5:08Speaker 3: hundred million with options, I mean cratzy fifty million a year,
- 5:13Speaker 3: Holy cow. And you're playing down, You're playing in New York.
- 5:17Speaker 3: You're playing for the Mets, understandably, a really good team
- 5:21Speaker 3: that you know in some don't think are going to
- 5:23Speaker 3: be pretty good. Do you want to go the or
- 5:26Speaker 3: do you want to go to the Blue Jays knowing
- 5:27Speaker 3: that you have a big opportunity not only to get
- 5:30Speaker 3: to the playoffs.
- 5:31Speaker 2: But you know, do some damage. It's up to him.
- 5:33Speaker 3: If that's the case, you want longevity or you want
- 5:37Speaker 3: you want the big bang right now and have to
- 5:39Speaker 3: go back in the free agency and do this crap
- 5:41Speaker 3: all over again.
- 5:42Speaker 2: A lot to talk about within the family.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, there's a big time decisions that I
- 5:50Speaker 4: don't you don't ever have to make or ever had
- 5:53Speaker 4: to make.
- 5:53Speaker 5: But it's all relative.
- 5:55Speaker 4: But if it really is, let's say, what what Scott said,
- 6:00Speaker 4: fifty a year for four years now? Because we heard
- 6:03Speaker 4: it was fifty a year now, could be the fourth year.
- 6:05Speaker 4: Maybe it's a little less, Maybe it's like one ninety
- 6:08Speaker 4: or something like that. If he were to become the
- 6:12Speaker 4: third highest paid position player, I'm sorry, fourth highest behind
- 6:18Speaker 4: behind Judge, Vladimir Guerrero and Mike Trout, he would get
- 6:23Speaker 4: thirty four a year. And let's say the Blue Jays
- 6:26Speaker 4: say we'll give it to you for eight years, little math,
- 6:29Speaker 4: that's two hundred and seventy two million dollars. I feel
- 6:33Speaker 4: like the Mets, if the two hundred million dollar range
- 6:36Speaker 4: is where it's at. I feel like the Mets answered
- 6:38Speaker 4: the question that I pose last week. How much is
- 6:43Speaker 4: enough for a short term deal? Because I'm sorry, you
- 6:47Speaker 4: ain't opting out of a You ain't opting out of
- 6:49Speaker 4: a fifty million dollars a year contract that's gonna pay
- 6:54Speaker 4: you for the next three years after this season if
- 6:56Speaker 4: he has a career type of year, because you just
- 7:00Speaker 4: like the numbers are getting close. The numbers are getting
- 7:03Speaker 4: really close. If the number is two hundred million.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Hey, make good eats at home part of your twenty

- 8:04Speaker 1: Varies by a plan Get America's number one meal kit,
- 8:08Speaker 1: Hello Fresh, No, I disagree. What do you mean? So
- 8:11Speaker 1: if he has the best year of his life, right,
- 8:13Speaker 1: Let's say you take his year from two years ago
- 8:15Speaker 1: and that was half a season, and then you play
- 8:17Speaker 1: that out for a full season and he's like a
- 8:19Speaker 1: ten win player. Okay, he does that, And then let's
- 8:23Speaker 1: take the CBA situation and lock that out of the
- 8:26Speaker 1: moment first dep right, and just say, hey, he's got
- 8:28Speaker 1: another normal off season coming up. You think he would
- 8:31Speaker 1: keep his deal for another year. His stock would be
- 8:34Speaker 1: even higher. And we don't know what the rest of
- 8:36Speaker 1: the market looks like. But the whole heer, the whole
- 8:40Speaker 1: point of doing this from a financial standpoint is that
- 8:43Speaker 1: let's say the Blue Jays are offering fifteen plus less
- 8:47Speaker 1: per year. Let's say it's even twenty. Just for the
- 8:49Speaker 1: case of the exercise. Let's say the Mets are offering
- 8:51Speaker 1: fifty year. Blue Jays are offering thirty a year. Okay,
- 8:55Speaker 1: Mets are offering four years, two hundred million fifty a year.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Blue Jays just again, don't hold us to this crowd.
- 9:03Speaker 1: We're just playing easy math here. Yeah, thirty million a
- 9:06Speaker 1: year from the Blue Jays over ten years, three hundred
- 9:09Speaker 1: million dollars. The guaranteed money is significantly higher, but you're
- 9:13Speaker 1: going to be committed to a much longer term contract
- 9:16Speaker 1: and you could play out this one season, make twenty
- 9:20Speaker 1: million dollars more and then hit free agency again. So
- 9:24Speaker 1: Todd father, I give you both of those contracts. Okay,
- 9:28Speaker 1: and you're Kyle Tucker, which one do you want? You
- 9:30Speaker 1: want to do? Because if you're looking at it that way,
- 9:32Speaker 1: you're essentially looking at it as hey, this is a
- 9:34Speaker 1: one year contract. I'm Alex Bregman, I'm pee a Lonzo,
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'm everybody else that has done this game, and I'm
- 9:39Speaker 1: going to take less guaranteed committed dollars because usually the
- 9:43Speaker 1: players are going for the most guarantee. But is there
- 9:45Speaker 1: a line? I think this is what Kratz is getting
- 9:47Speaker 1: at where you go there's such a difference in average
- 9:50Speaker 1: annual value, right the number I'm getting paid for next year,
- 9:53Speaker 1: and I'm down to play my hand one more time
- 9:56Speaker 1: in free agency and make that three hundred long term
- 9:59Speaker 1: offer a four hundred plus. I added a fifty million
- 10:01Speaker 1: dollars in that one season where I was in limbo.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I might be biased towards this because I've been in
- 10:08Speaker 3: free agency three different times and my biggest issue is
- 10:11Speaker 3: going back to free agency the unknown you know, oh,
- 10:15Speaker 3: well we heard from this team they might want you. Well,
- 10:17Speaker 3: this team just said if they don't get this guy,
- 10:19Speaker 3: they're coming for you. Like the unknown part really bothered me,
- 10:22Speaker 3: and that, you know, and that's like an any job
- 10:24Speaker 3: I think would bother everybody, Like you know, if you
- 10:27Speaker 3: work in corporate somewhere and they're saying, we might send
- 10:29Speaker 3: you to Denver or Chicago, Like, there's certain different things.
- 10:32Speaker 3: I don't want to go back to free agency anytime soon.
- 10:36Speaker 3: That's just my feeling. If I could have signed a
- 10:38Speaker 3: free agent deal for five, six seven years, which didn't happen,
- 10:42Speaker 3: which was unlikely, but if I had an opportunity to,
- 10:45Speaker 3: I probably would take that longevity.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Knowing I am set.
- 10:48Speaker 3: For life, I am with an organization that really wants me.
- 10:52Speaker 3: I like it here hopefully, But even if you don't
- 10:55Speaker 3: like it there you're still making a lot of money
- 10:57Speaker 3: and you still got to go perform. So for me,
- 10:59Speaker 3: I don't want to go back in free agency ever again,
- 11:01Speaker 3: knowing what I can get right now, and I hear
- 11:04Speaker 3: what you're saying, Scott, go back and you can make
- 11:06Speaker 3: even more. There's no Givens man, There is no Givens
- 11:10Speaker 3: in this world year by year basis.
- 11:12Speaker 1: And he's had injuries back to back seasons, which we've
- 11:15Speaker 1: talked about is part of the reason why he's probably
- 11:18Speaker 1: being dinged a little bit during the free agent process. Krats.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I'll bring up one more point from Fair Territory, which
- 11:24Speaker 1: was live right before our show and is a good
- 11:26Speaker 1: listener watch. After our show with Ken Rosenthal and Alana Rizzo.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Ken was just talking about like the rumors around Kyle
- 11:34Speaker 1: Tucker and his personality. Ken's covered him, I've covered him.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Most of us know Kyle Tucker at this point. He's
- 11:40Speaker 1: been in the league for a while. He's definitely not boisterous.
- 11:43Speaker 1: He is more low key, nonchalant. The whole deal right,
- 11:47Speaker 1: there is this thought process that he might not want
- 11:52Speaker 1: to play forever. It's not like Anthony Rendon status. But
- 11:57Speaker 1: I think what they were getting at on that show.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Was a ten year deal means you are committed to
- 12:02Speaker 1: playing ball through what thirty eight years old. Not every
- 12:06Speaker 1: player will want to do that. You know, Kyle Tucker
- 12:08Speaker 1: might be like, Yo, I'm going to give hm my
- 12:09Speaker 1: all for another five or six and then I'm good.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I mean, if you sign a ten year contract, you
- 12:15Speaker 1: need to fulfill the contract. You're playing for ten years
- 12:17Speaker 1: in Toronto, right So there is a chance it's not high,
- 12:22Speaker 1: but there is a chance that he looks at that
- 12:24Speaker 1: and says me, I don't want to play ten years.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And if the Blue Jays are like, hey, we're trying
- 12:28Speaker 1: to keep the average annual value down because we want
- 12:32Speaker 1: you to play with the most talented players possible, and
- 12:34Speaker 1: we get destroyed on luxury tax numbers, which is a
- 12:37Speaker 1: soft salary cap which we always talk about. So just
- 12:40Speaker 1: floating that out there, if you think there's any chance
- 12:42Speaker 1: that there's a player who's not Anthony Rendo in status
- 12:44Speaker 1: where he doesn't want to play baseball at all, but
- 12:45Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily want to play for ten years with one
- 12:48Speaker 1: spot right.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Now, Listen, I get it. Probably Kyle Tucker has no
- 12:51Speaker 4: social media. He's probably not even looking at a lot
- 12:55Speaker 4: of this stuff. But his agent is his agent gets
- 12:57Speaker 4: five percent of this contract. If that were not the case,
- 13:02Speaker 4: if the like, you know, excitement about a ten year deal,
- 13:08Speaker 4: if there was you know, hey, I'm not nonchalant. I'm
- 13:11Speaker 4: more like this, this would have been the time where
- 13:14Speaker 4: they're like, hey, you know what, we're gonna get ahead
- 13:16Speaker 4: of this. We're going to do these things. When the
- 13:19Speaker 4: media portrays somebody a certain way and they don't really
- 13:23Speaker 4: buck up against that or nobody else speaks out against that,
- 13:27Speaker 4: that's probably how it is.
- 13:28Speaker 5: And you know what, if he.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Doesn't want a ten year deal, totally good with that.
- 13:35Speaker 4: But I don't think he's going to get in the
- 13:36Speaker 4: range of like eight years, forty million, like where they
- 13:40Speaker 4: would you know, meet in the middle kind of thing.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Maybe his best bet, and it would he would have
- 13:46Speaker 4: to understand his comfort level, his family's comfort level, everything
- 13:52Speaker 4: about what it means to play in New York. I'm
- 13:54Speaker 4: not saying the media is going to just crush you
- 13:57Speaker 4: because he doesn't say much, but there's there's a there's
- 14:00Speaker 4: a lot of obligations to the stars in New York,
- 14:04Speaker 4: whether it's a Mets or the Yankees, and I think
- 14:07Speaker 4: it's a really really fun case for us because we
- 14:11Speaker 4: just get to watch it and sit back and see
- 14:13Speaker 4: what exactly, you know, what actually transpires. But he has
- 14:17Speaker 4: to go through it every single day and wherever he chooses.
- 14:20Speaker 4: People don't understand, like the length of a season is
- 14:24Speaker 4: a grind. And then when you sit there and go,
- 14:29Speaker 4: I gotta be up here for ten years. I got
- 14:30Speaker 4: to do this. I've heard it. I've heard future Hall
- 14:33Speaker 4: of famers say, and I'm so glad I don't have
- 14:36Speaker 4: three more years, five more years on my contract. And
- 14:39Speaker 4: these were guys that were still playing really well. Because
- 14:42Speaker 4: it's it's a lot, it's more than people think.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Also, some guys lose it at a certain age, and
- 14:47Speaker 1: you don't know when that is going to be. But
- 14:50Speaker 1: most players are not good at thirty eight. It's just
- 14:54Speaker 1: how it is these days. Most players are not good
- 14:56Speaker 1: at thirty eight years old. There was a steroid era
- 14:58Speaker 1: where guys were extending there careers a lot, and then
- 15:01Speaker 1: of course there are plenty of outliers that still play
- 15:04Speaker 1: at you know, whatever age, like Aeric Kratz, Yes, Eric
- 15:08Speaker 1: Kratz playing at what age? Did you retire?
- 15:12Speaker 5: Forty forty?
- 15:13Speaker 4: Best youar ever one of the top five Yankees batting
- 15:16Speaker 4: averages of all time career. But that's okay, Todd, don't
- 15:19Speaker 4: worry about it.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Imagine if you're Kyle Talker and you've been great every year,
- 15:24Speaker 1: You've been like a superstar, and then all of a sudden,
- 15:27Speaker 1: you hit thirty five and you're not good, and you
- 15:28Speaker 1: still have three four years left on your contract. It's
- 15:31Speaker 1: tough living. I mean, we kind of saw that with
- 15:33Speaker 1: the DJ le Mayhew just now. I mean, injuries biting
- 15:36Speaker 1: you too. That happens. So it just a lot to
- 15:38Speaker 1: think about. And yeah, last point, and then I want
- 15:41Speaker 1: to get to the report.
- 15:42Speaker 4: I was just going to say, is he a superstar?
- 15:45Speaker 4: We had this argument before and now we're talking about
- 15:47Speaker 4: superstar money, Todd, is he a superstar? There's a difference
- 15:51Speaker 4: between a superstar, all star, sometimes all star.
- 15:58Speaker 5: And then regulars. I think he's a star, not a superstar.
- 16:04Speaker 2: No. I think I think he's really really good, really
- 16:07Speaker 2: good baseball.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Player, superstar, and his personality sometimes skews people from thinking
- 16:13Speaker 1: that he's a superstar. But I think his productivity on
- 16:16Speaker 1: the field is superstar quality. I do it depends how
- 16:19Speaker 1: many superstars you have on your list. But anyway, something
- 16:22Speaker 1: to think about.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Let's get my superstar list is a handful of people,
- 16:28Speaker 3: I know. Yeah, and you're saying, you're saying Kyle Tucker
- 16:31Speaker 3: is in that tight group for you, Scott.
- 16:34Speaker 1: My superstar list isn't as tight as yours.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Okay, I'm saying that my.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Like your your superstar list might be what ten, and
- 16:41Speaker 1: mine might be more like maybe, right, Okay, mine's larger
- 16:44Speaker 1: than that. Mine's probably like I'm looking at the top
- 16:47Speaker 1: fifteen position players in the top tennis pitchers something like that. Right,
- 16:51Speaker 1: take that's a much larger list.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Takers, picture pictures out of it. I was just thinking
- 16:54Speaker 2: hitters wise in mind.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Okay for hitters though, still like you might have seven
- 16:58Speaker 1: and I might have fifteen, and that's a big difference.
- 17:01Speaker 1: So I think he's afteen player in the sport, all.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Right, I'm saying, right, hold on, I want I want
- 17:06Speaker 3: to get this the fifteen in the sport or as a.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Hitter, I have fifteen position players. Probably I haven't done this.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I'm just roughly estimating I probably have fifteen position players
- 17:16Speaker 1: as superstars, and some people might only have five to seven,
- 17:20Speaker 1: and you probably have a smaller.
- 17:21Speaker 3: List, right, Yeah, I just wanted to make sure people
- 17:24Speaker 3: understood like what your answer was to as well, that's
- 17:26Speaker 3: all not trying to come back and fight you with it.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I just wanted to hear exactly that's all.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Yeah, fighting Todd did it?
- 17:45Speaker 1: Fan Sided insider FT insider Robert Murray with us on
- 17:48Speaker 1: a busy day, Kyle Tucker news maybe coming today? What
- 17:51Speaker 1: do you think, Robert.
- 17:53Speaker 7: H First of all, I love the intro at Cooper
- 17:55Speaker 7: in there, so I got to give you guys your
- 17:56Speaker 7: shoutout for that. But I definitely do think that today
- 17:59Speaker 7: might be the day for the Kyle Tucker resolution. And honestly,
- 18:03Speaker 7: it's anyone's guessing where he's going, but we're definitely we're
- 18:07Speaker 7: close to a resolution here. Okay, yeah, why why just
- 18:14Speaker 7: the signs continue to point to a decision being made. Uh,
- 18:19Speaker 7: there is silence from a lot of folks involved, but
- 18:22Speaker 7: anyone who is anyone who I've talked to, expects it
- 18:26Speaker 7: to be soon and quite possibly today. That's the indications
- 18:30Speaker 7: that I've gotten.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Well does that mean.
- 18:34Speaker 4: Sorry, sorry, we're we're we're so excited about the Today
- 18:37Speaker 4: news there that we're like, okay, we I want to
- 18:41Speaker 4: get to the bottom of it. Does that mean, in
- 18:43Speaker 4: a situation like this, is there a chance that there's
- 18:46Speaker 4: some back and forth still or is it offers are
- 18:50Speaker 4: out now it's Kyle's turn to make the decision. No more,
- 18:54Speaker 4: no more back and forth? Is that where we've gotten
- 18:56Speaker 4: to most likely?
- 18:58Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't know exactly where the current state of
- 19:01Speaker 7: talks are, but I think you can make the case
- 19:03Speaker 7: for both. Is like, we're obviously pretty deep into the
- 19:06Speaker 7: offseason here, we're less than a month away from pitchers
- 19:09Speaker 7: and catchers reporting. But also too, like he still hasn't
- 19:12Speaker 7: signed yet, and you have three teams. You have the Mets,
- 19:15Speaker 7: you have the Dodgers, and the Blue Jays all involved
- 19:18Speaker 7: in this. He has not signed yet. So if you're
- 19:20Speaker 7: a team and you want to convince him to come
- 19:22Speaker 7: to your city, come to your team, maybe make a
- 19:25Speaker 7: last second move where all of a sudden it's like, Okay,
- 19:28Speaker 7: we really want you. Here's an extra ten million, here's
- 19:30Speaker 7: an extra whatever incentive, whatever it takes to get him.
- 19:34Speaker 7: So I can see both being the case, But I
- 19:37Speaker 7: don't know for sure what point we're at quite yet.
- 19:40Speaker 2: With that, you said the Mets, Dodgers, blue Jays.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Can you see another team that nobody's talking about right now,
- 19:47Speaker 3: kind of swoop in there, or these are the final
- 19:49Speaker 3: three in your opinion, You.
- 19:51Speaker 7: Know, that's something that I've been asking around about because
- 19:54Speaker 7: usually at this point of the offseason or even before this,
- 19:56Speaker 7: we hear about a mystery team being involved, and we
- 19:59Speaker 7: haven't heard that yet this. In my indications, I think
- 20:02Speaker 7: it's those three teams that are in it at this point,
- 20:06Speaker 7: and you can make the case for any one of
- 20:07Speaker 7: those teams, Like you look at the Mets. I reported
- 20:10Speaker 7: the other day that their offer was for fifty million
- 20:12Speaker 7: a year short term deal, and then you heard Mike
- 20:14Speaker 7: Puma of The Post mentioned that it's a four year offer.
- 20:18Speaker 7: So if you combine those two reports, four for two hundred,
- 20:21Speaker 7: that looks pretty pretty darn good. And I mean, I
- 20:24Speaker 7: know it's for me, that'd be pretty tough to turn down.
- 20:27Speaker 7: I can't lie about that. But then you have the
- 20:31Speaker 7: Blue Jays who are reportedly offering a long term deal,
- 20:33Speaker 7: and I don't necessarily know the specifics of that. But
- 20:37Speaker 7: like one thing that I've I've mentioned a lot of
- 20:39Speaker 7: my podcast, The Baseball Insiders, and I'll mention it here too,
- 20:42Speaker 7: is you hear people be like, why why would Toronto
- 20:45Speaker 7: be a destination You hear people kind of criticize Toronto. It's
- 20:49Speaker 7: a great place to play, man. You have an unbelievable city,
- 20:52Speaker 7: you have that entire fan base and entire country behind you,
- 20:56Speaker 7: and it's like a super desirable place to play, and
- 20:59Speaker 7: you're also going to having a chance of winning a
- 21:01Speaker 7: World Series. So to me, that's incredibly enticing and incredibly intriguing.
- 21:06Speaker 7: And I think the Blue Jays are absolutely a serious
- 21:08Speaker 7: player here. And then you have the Dodgers, where we
- 21:11Speaker 7: haven't heard much there whatsoever as far as reports go,
- 21:14Speaker 7: which you wonder what exactly that could mean. But I
- 21:17Speaker 7: think all three of these teams are a threat. And
- 21:20Speaker 7: as I said before, I think a resolution is around
- 21:23Speaker 7: the corner.
- 21:24Speaker 8: But maybe it's today.
- 21:25Speaker 7: Maybe I think it might be today, But it's up
- 21:29Speaker 7: to Kyle Tucker, so only he knows at this point.
- 21:33Speaker 5: So we should have had Kyle Tucker on and not
- 21:35Speaker 5: Robert Murray. I get it. I got it. That's totally fine.
- 21:38Speaker 5: I got it. Boy.
- 21:39Speaker 8: I wish the wouldn't that be something?
- 21:41Speaker 4: Yeah, that would be that would be how we could
- 21:44Speaker 4: break the news. But one thing I brought up before,
- 21:48Speaker 4: and maybe it's not something that you've even experienced or seen.
- 21:51Speaker 4: But should Kyle Tucker be out there trying to kick
- 21:57Speaker 4: against the narrative that he's non shalant laid back if
- 22:01Speaker 4: it wasn't true, and so if it, if he's not
- 22:04Speaker 4: kicking back against it, then it's probably true. And at
- 22:08Speaker 4: some point we'll have to figure out how much money
- 22:11Speaker 4: that cost him. That like kind of just his his
- 22:15Speaker 4: aura of just being like, eh, you know what, bro,
- 22:18Speaker 4: I got this.
- 22:20Speaker 7: No, Like, he's definitely a chill guy. I've spent some
- 22:22Speaker 7: time around him. He's a chill guy. He's very relaxed,
- 22:25Speaker 7: very reserved. But I don't know if i'd necessarily interpret
- 22:29Speaker 7: that as someone who doesn't love baseball or I don't know.
- 22:33Speaker 7: I've seen the different reports there. I don't necessarily know
- 22:35Speaker 7: what I think of those. I know if it was
- 22:38Speaker 7: me that I would probably fight back against those. But
- 22:41Speaker 7: that being said, he's his own guy, and I don't know.
- 22:45Speaker 7: He's still getting to make it a whole lot of
- 22:47Speaker 7: money here, whether it's fifty million from the Mets or whatever.
- 22:50Speaker 7: He's ended up getting offer from the Dodters in Blue Jays.
- 22:52Speaker 7: So did it cost him money? I don't know, But
- 22:55Speaker 7: that being said, like he's one of the most talented
- 22:59Speaker 7: players baseball. I heard your guys' debate before I hopped on.
- 23:02Speaker 7: I absolutely I think I would put him in a
- 23:04Speaker 7: superstar category. I just heard Todd mention the star category.
- 23:08Speaker 7: Either way, you can't go you can't go wrong. So
- 23:11Speaker 7: he'll get he'll get his due. I have no doubts
- 23:13Speaker 7: about that.
- 23:15Speaker 4: We gotta have a whole We gonna have a whole
- 23:17Speaker 4: breakdown of Robert superstars, Todd superstars. I think I think
- 23:22Speaker 4: it's fun. It's like aces and number ones. It's that
- 23:24Speaker 4: whole debate.
- 23:25Speaker 8: No, it's maybe maybe that's for the next show. How
- 23:28Speaker 8: about that? Should we have an entire show just breaking
- 23:30Speaker 8: that entire thing.
- 23:31Speaker 5: Done once Manfred?
- 23:32Speaker 4: Once Manfred sets a trade deadline, then we have nothing else,
- 23:36Speaker 4: or a signing deadline, then we have nothing else to
- 23:39Speaker 4: chat about, because it would just be one day no
- 23:41Speaker 4: one else can sign and we'd be like, all right, Robert,
- 23:43Speaker 4: what's your favorite ice cream?
- 23:45Speaker 5: All that stuff, but.
- 23:46Speaker 7: Chocolate chip cookie though, by the way.
- 23:52Speaker 1: All right, so now we'll kick this around. It was
- 23:54Speaker 1: breaking news right as the show started. Clayton Kershaw is
- 23:57Speaker 1: going to be a part of Team USA. We just
- 23:59Speaker 1: spoke to Mason Miller about it, and he's excited to
- 24:01Speaker 1: have him as part of the crew. Remember, there's a
- 24:05Speaker 1: backstory here. There was insurance complications last time around, which
- 24:10Speaker 1: usually to me Kratz just means that there was too
- 24:13Speaker 1: much money to pay for Kershaw based on the mileage
- 24:15Speaker 1: and whatever injuries that he was having, because you have
- 24:18Speaker 1: to pay insurance fees here for the players. I believe
- 24:22Speaker 1: the way it works is that the league covers that
- 24:24Speaker 1: because the league is the one that's cashing out hardcore
- 24:27Speaker 1: on this, and so they're able to cover the insurance rates.
- 24:30Speaker 1: But maybe they were at an impasse, you know, just
- 24:34Speaker 1: throwing it out there. It's like maybe most of the
- 24:36Speaker 1: players cost X and they were like, we're going to
- 24:38Speaker 1: charge you double or triple because we don't love the medicals.
- 24:41Speaker 1: He's had injuries, he's late career, blah blah blah. Right,
- 24:45Speaker 1: So anyway, that held him back last time around. This time,
- 24:48Speaker 1: he doesn't have to worry about that. He's not pitching
- 24:49Speaker 1: again in the major leagues. He already retired, so you
- 24:51Speaker 1: don't need the insurance policy like you did, and he
- 24:54Speaker 1: can join the team. I will read a recent tweet
- 24:57Speaker 1: that came out like second to go Alden Gonzalez saying
- 25:03Speaker 1: it's his final act for Team USA in the World
- 25:06Speaker 1: Baseball Classic, a tournament that he was denied participating in
- 25:10Speaker 1: three years ago. He will be pitching. This is the key,
- 25:14Speaker 1: probably only in an emergency. Isn't that kind of how
- 25:20Speaker 1: it was for him? This past postseason? He made one appearance,
- 25:25Speaker 1: right from what I remember, it was the one appearance
- 25:27Speaker 1: which was important, no doubt in the marathon important.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he ate innings. I think the rosa's smart.
- 25:37Speaker 4: But it's also like, let's not prop the brakes. This
- 25:39Speaker 4: is gonna do. That's gonna come out and say, yeah,
- 25:41Speaker 4: I'm ready to pitch, and he's gonna be eighty two.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Clayton Kershall is gonna be the exact same guy he
- 25:47Speaker 4: was the last entirety of his career, and he's gonna
- 25:51Speaker 4: give you quality innings whenever that is. And you don't
- 25:54Speaker 4: have to throw a Mason Miller who is on a
- 25:58Speaker 4: strict pitch county, strict usage limit. And this is an
- 26:03Speaker 4: advantage for the team if they get a huge lead,
- 26:07Speaker 4: or god forbid, if they fall behind big, they need
- 26:11Speaker 4: somebody to be able to eat these innings. That say, okay,
- 26:14Speaker 4: we're not using you. We can't use you on back
- 26:17Speaker 4: to back days. And I mean in twenty three, So
- 26:20Speaker 4: basically in twenty three he was making twenty million dollars.
- 26:23Speaker 4: That insurance policy is going to be quite large. Three
- 26:25Speaker 4: years before that, he was making thirty one million dollars,
- 26:29Speaker 4: three years before that, he was making thirty four million dollars.
- 26:33Speaker 4: And with the injury history, Yeah, I get it. I
- 26:36Speaker 4: get that that's tough. And I don't one hundred percent
- 26:38Speaker 4: know that Major League Baseball's covering it. The only reason
- 26:40Speaker 4: I say that is because I thought part of it
- 26:45Speaker 4: was based on each each corporation, each coalition, the team USA,
- 26:50Speaker 4: team Canada. You know where they're they're covering. Do they
- 26:54Speaker 4: get stipen from Major League Baseball? I'm not one hundred
- 26:57Speaker 4: percent sure on that.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Yeah, well, and we'll see.
- 27:02Speaker 3: I mean, you talk about an emergency situation shouldn't be
- 27:06Speaker 3: all hands on deck, So I don't know.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I hope that's not the case. You know, because you might.
- 27:12Speaker 3: You're gonna need him to pitch eventually, you know, say
- 27:15Speaker 3: a guy goes down, or you know there's a there's
- 27:17Speaker 3: a game where they need a lefty to come in
- 27:20Speaker 3: so I hope the USA is picking accordingly and it
- 27:23Speaker 3: you know, I just hope that you know, if he's
- 27:26Speaker 3: on the team, they're gonna play.
- 27:27Speaker 4: You know.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I know there's some position players that don't play sometimes,
- 27:30Speaker 3: but they're gonna need every pitcher they can get, and
- 27:32Speaker 3: that's definite in these in these World Baseball Classics, for sure.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I don't want to say like last man on the bench,
- 27:39Speaker 1: but it is kind of like that, or it appears
- 27:41Speaker 1: that way. Do you guys know what I'm saying where
- 27:43Speaker 1: it's like, hey, he's more of the emergency guy we're
- 27:46Speaker 1: gonna see and maybe I'm wrong, right, We also don't
- 27:48Speaker 1: know how he's going to feel. I mean, Clinton Kershew
- 27:51Speaker 1: is not preparing for a full season. He's preparing for
- 27:53Speaker 1: a World Baseball Classic. That's a little bit different. Right.
- 27:56Speaker 1: He can go in there and just feel really good
- 27:59Speaker 1: and can't and then blow it out for a few outings.
- 28:02Speaker 1: He could, right if he feels like the arm's good. No,
- 28:05Speaker 1: you don't think Sokratz, right, No, he doesn't have to
- 28:08Speaker 1: do the same arm maintenance that you would have to
- 28:10Speaker 1: do for a full season.
- 28:11Speaker 4: I just think I have a hard time believing he's
- 28:14Speaker 4: gonna lie and be like, no, I got this and
- 28:17Speaker 4: not be good like he had a three er last year.
- 28:20Speaker 4: Like he's gonna go out and get outs. Are you
- 28:23Speaker 4: starting him in the finals against Japan.
- 28:27Speaker 5: No?
- 28:28Speaker 4: No, But like he's gonna go out and get outs,
- 28:31Speaker 4: he's going to be a productive piece of this team.
- 28:33Speaker 4: As a guy who was at the end of his
- 28:34Speaker 4: career asked to play for, I was asked to play
- 28:39Speaker 4: for the eventual silver medal winning Olympic team. I knew
- 28:45Speaker 4: there was a lot that you have to do to
- 28:46Speaker 4: prepare to go into that. Yes, and you couldn't as
- 28:50Speaker 4: much as they said, it's your team, you can be on.
- 28:53Speaker 4: It doesn't matter.
- 28:55Speaker 5: What you do.
- 28:56Speaker 4: I would not have done that to my teammates, to
- 29:00Speaker 4: Team USA, to anybody and said all right, I'm rolling
- 29:04Speaker 4: out of bed on on July third and I'm joining
- 29:07Speaker 4: the team. No chance. That would have been disingenuous to
- 29:10Speaker 4: the guys who you're trying to accomplish something and win
- 29:13Speaker 4: a gold medal.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Agreed, this is this is serious stuff, man.
- 29:18Speaker 3: I help people want putting the USA on and representing
- 29:22Speaker 3: your country, even if it's a World Baseball Classic. Kratzy
- 29:25Speaker 3: and I played for. I played for three different USA teams.
- 29:29Speaker 3: I'm sure he played for three plus maybe a bunch more.
- 29:32Speaker 3: But when you put that on, man, there's a different
- 29:35Speaker 3: there's a different sound, it's a different feeling, it's a
- 29:37Speaker 3: different vibe. When you come off that bus representing your
- 29:40Speaker 3: country and everybody knows USA is coming in town. I
- 29:44Speaker 3: promise you you're gonna get the best of the best
- 29:47Speaker 3: coming after you, and they want to beat you, whether
- 29:49Speaker 3: it's a pool play game, a championship game, or a
- 29:52Speaker 3: World you know, a gold medal match, if they can,
- 29:56Speaker 3: if they smell blood, they're gonna freaking find a way.
- 29:58Speaker 2: And it's intense.
- 30:00Speaker 3: And I remember the first time playing in Port Saint
- 30:03Speaker 3: Lucie in the trials to get to Tokyo for the
- 30:07Speaker 3: you know, for the Olympics, and we're playing Nicaragua and
- 30:09Speaker 3: they went up one nothing.
- 30:11Speaker 2: It was unmatched. It was unbelievable because we're playing in
- 30:15Speaker 2: Florida and seventy eighty percent of cheering against you. It
- 30:18Speaker 2: was crazy. These people came out of the woodwork.
- 30:20Speaker 3: So Kratzy knows the feeling we all do down in Miami.
- 30:24Speaker 2: It's gonna be a different vibe.
- 30:26Speaker 3: We know we got different cultures down there, and it's
- 30:28Speaker 3: gonna be so cool.
- 30:31Speaker 1: What if he feels too good? What if what if
- 30:34Speaker 1: it's coming out of the arm real nice? He's like,
- 30:38Speaker 1: you know what, I didn't throw it all this offseason,
- 30:40Speaker 1: and that's actually no Beer League, Beer League right where.
- 30:45Speaker 1: He's like, I didn't touch a baseball until just now,
- 30:48Speaker 1: and now it feels really good.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Fucking Scott, And I'm sure I'm sure Todd can can
- 30:56Speaker 4: definitely agree with me on this, on this thing. Your
- 31:00Speaker 4: wife is already in there making your plans. That summer
- 31:04Speaker 4: is filled up. Clayton, summer is filled up. Ain't no
- 31:07Speaker 4: way he's he's going and saying, I played that long?
- 31:12Speaker 4: Can I get one more? I know we're supposed to
- 31:14Speaker 4: do this with the kids. We're supposed to go to
- 31:16Speaker 4: the mall D's, we're supposed to go to Greece. We're
- 31:18Speaker 4: supposed to go to Grandma's for July fourth. I might
- 31:22Speaker 4: miss it.
- 31:23Speaker 5: Nope, Nope, Clayton.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Unless Clayton says, now I'm feeling it now. No, I
- 31:29Speaker 4: don't know, don't don't do it. He already said it.
- 31:33Speaker 4: She's she's gonna be like, time to be home, Clayton.
- 31:37Speaker 1: We'll see, or if he says, did you see what
- 31:42Speaker 1: David Robertson did? Honey? He actually enjoyed half of a
- 31:46Speaker 1: baseball season at home. We got some summer activities, picnics outside,
- 31:52Speaker 1: and then he.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Must be throwing if they need him for an inning,
- 31:58Speaker 3: and he like hits like ninety five.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Worried like hay, now I'll need that.
- 32:04Speaker 5: I want to see it.
- 32:05Speaker 4: I want to see it anytime Scott like sits a
- 32:08Speaker 4: certain way, it looks like I got hair.
- 32:11Speaker 5: When it goes up to the screen, yeah.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Oh, take your hat off real quick. Don't show it's
- 32:19Speaker 3: the team. Don't move right there.
- 32:23Speaker 5: Oh my shot?
- 32:28Speaker 1: Screenshot it? Hold on.
- 32:32Speaker 2: They did?
- 32:32Speaker 5: Or me, yes, somebody will. There's a reason I don't
- 32:40Speaker 5: have hair.
- 32:41Speaker 4: If I had hair, Oh my gosh, the arrogance that
- 32:43Speaker 4: would be coming out of this mouth if I had
- 32:45Speaker 4: hair unbelievable.
- 32:47Speaker 5: I'm telling you. If I had hair like you, Todd
- 32:49Speaker 5: or Scott.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, it's a great photo.
- 32:53Speaker 2: You're gross.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Wow, it's really good. This, by the way, is a
- 32:58Speaker 1: nice shirt. It's called the Friar Territory og logo shirt
- 33:03Speaker 1: right here at Friar Territory shop dot com. And if
- 33:06Speaker 1: you want hair for one of your friends, you can
- 33:10Speaker 1: do the same thing. I wore it today because Mason
- 33:12Speaker 1: Miller was on the show. Anyway, next part of the conversation,
- 33:14Speaker 1: as we get back to BIZ, Alec Bregman is going
- 33:17Speaker 1: to be a part of the World Baseball Classic four
- 33:20Speaker 1: Team USA. Bregman did not participate last go around. This time,
- 33:23Speaker 1: he's like, yeah, I'm playing, signed up long term. Let's
- 33:26Speaker 1: do this right now. You get to live out all
- 33:29Speaker 1: of your dreams. So Bregman's back. Guess what Team USA
- 33:33Speaker 1: starts to play in Houston, Texas in front of probably
- 33:38Speaker 1: quite a few Astros fans. So this is going to
- 33:40Speaker 1: be a blast. I mean, look at life for Alex
- 33:42Speaker 1: right now. He gets to have fun with Boston. Then
- 33:44Speaker 1: he gets to spurn Boston and be like, you didn't
- 33:47Speaker 1: pay enough, no respect for me. Bye, I'm going to
- 33:51Speaker 1: the Cubs. And then he gets to play WBC go
- 33:54Speaker 1: back to Houston and be like, here's what you're missing.
- 33:56Speaker 1: This is a fun little stretch of time.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Definitely is.
- 34:02Speaker 3: He's in the driver's seat here, a couple of different contracts.
- 34:06Speaker 2: He's loving life.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Going back to Houston to kind of finish out what
- 34:10Speaker 3: he started there.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I guess you could say.
- 34:12Speaker 3: And I'm sure he's gonna play there again, because everybody
- 34:15Speaker 3: plays everybody in Major League Baseball now, So I think
- 34:19Speaker 3: it's pretty cool. It'd be a nice little homecoming for him,
- 34:21Speaker 3: and hopefully he can represents starting to become a really
- 34:25Speaker 3: nice looking team for USA.
- 34:27Speaker 4: I think it's I think it's fun too, because he's
- 34:29Speaker 4: been on the sixteen you team, the eighteen YOU team,
- 34:34Speaker 4: the college team, and he's already played WBC. But I mean,
- 34:38Speaker 4: my guy's a Team USA fixture. They might be, depending
- 34:42Speaker 4: on how they do they win this thing. I'm sure
- 34:44Speaker 4: he's got some victories under his belts other years when
- 34:47Speaker 4: he was doing it. I don't know, maybe maybe one
- 34:50Speaker 4: of the best Team USA players of all time. He's
- 34:53Speaker 4: no Ben Sheets.
- 34:54Speaker 5: I get it. Ben Sheets won the gold medal. You
- 34:57Speaker 5: know you're you're locked in when you win the gold medal.
- 34:59Speaker 4: But I don't know huspragmants putting together a nice little
- 35:03Speaker 4: Team USA.
- 35:06Speaker 5: Resume.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty eight though, he'll still be in the bigs.
- 35:11Speaker 1: He'll still be kicking, He'll still be.
- 35:12Speaker 4: I mean, like he's got another one that he can play.
- 35:15Speaker 4: But right, wow, it just it just amped it up.
- 35:24Speaker 4: I mean, we can't. We can't not have it on there.
- 35:27Speaker 4: Come on, come on, uncle Bob.
- 35:29Speaker 1: We gotta I think Uncle Bob's gonna improve it.
- 35:33Speaker 5: I do.
- 35:34Speaker 4: I do that you're making you're making their money.
- 35:38Speaker 5: You're making their money in WBC.
- 35:40Speaker 4: That's why I was told from people on the inside
- 35:42Speaker 4: that the reason they never allowed it before, even like
- 35:46Speaker 4: entertain the thought was because not because of the season
- 35:50Speaker 4: change or what that would have meant. It was because
- 35:53Speaker 4: of the fact that they wanted to make sure their product,
- 35:56Speaker 4: which is WB, the WBC was making the cash was
- 36:01Speaker 4: definitely the premier event because baseball is not always in
- 36:06Speaker 4: the Olympics. It's only in the Olympics when it's when
- 36:08Speaker 4: it's held in cities or countries that won it in
- 36:12Speaker 4: the Olympics. Baseball and softball are I forget what they're
- 36:16Speaker 4: called preliminary events where they have like they have to
- 36:19Speaker 4: choose to have it in And obviously when it was
- 36:21Speaker 4: in Japan, baseball is a big sport. When it was
- 36:23Speaker 4: in you know when it's going to be in La
- 36:26Speaker 4: Baseball is a big sport. But it's one of those
- 36:28Speaker 4: things that it is. It was huge that they came
- 36:33Speaker 4: up with the WBC, but it also took players away
- 36:35Speaker 4: from probably at this point we should have had all
- 36:38Speaker 4: big league players in the Olympics.
- 36:40Speaker 5: But yeah, thanks for that.
- 36:43Speaker 4: You get other opportunities, and because Japan loves to put
- 36:47Speaker 4: their big leaguers in there, So just saying, just saying,
- 36:49Speaker 4: we got to keep.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Up, yeah, and I think they will. That decision should
- 36:54Speaker 1: come at some point, maybe over the next year, to
- 36:56Speaker 1: find out if MLB is going to be participating with
- 37:00Speaker 1: their players in the twenty twenty eight Olympics. Bo Bet
- 37:09Speaker 1: MGM Futures regular season wins, Phillies ninety and a half
- 37:14Speaker 1: over under. We got a lot of these lately, a
- 37:17Speaker 1: lot of these just in that like ninety ish range.
- 37:22Speaker 1: I know where I'm going.
- 37:24Speaker 3: I'm stuck on this one because they they still got
- 37:26Speaker 3: a couple moves to make. It's so hard. I can
- 37:30Speaker 3: easily see them going over ninety wins. I can easily
- 37:33Speaker 3: see them doing it. I don't know this one here
- 37:37Speaker 3: I would say, I would say, I would say.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Over, but not by many right now I would I'm
- 37:42Speaker 2: with you.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I think this one's kind of easy. This is one
- 37:46Speaker 1: that I really like. I think the Phillies are more
- 37:48Speaker 1: like a ninety five win team. I mean, Kratz gives
- 37:51Speaker 1: me shit sometimes because I call them a regular season team.
- 37:54Speaker 1: But I've been right about that the last couple of years.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Still is the case. Really strong starting staff, really stable superstars.
- 38:02Speaker 1: The bullpen looks nice. There should be more on the
- 38:05Speaker 1: way too, in terms of the young position players actually
- 38:07Speaker 1: and pitchers Andrew Paynter, Aiden Miller, Justin Crawford to supplement
- 38:11Speaker 1: what they already have. There's still moves to be made.
- 38:14Speaker 1: I like this one, Kratz. I would be shocked if
- 38:17Speaker 1: you told me that the Phillies only won like eighty
- 38:19Speaker 1: eight games.
- 38:21Speaker 4: I mean, I think it's like we had yesterday. I
- 38:23Speaker 4: do like the Braves at eighty seven and a half
- 38:25Speaker 4: the over the eighty seven and a half. I thought,
- 38:28Speaker 4: I thought both these teams are a plus ninety win team.
- 38:31Speaker 4: I think the division is going to allow them to be.
- 38:35Speaker 4: I think the Phillies have historically struggled the last few
- 38:39Speaker 4: years against the Mets. But if the Mets don't make
- 38:42Speaker 4: any moves here the rest of the all seasons, like
- 38:46Speaker 4: where are they actually going to be? The Nats aren't
- 38:49Speaker 4: trying in the sense of like building a stronger team
- 38:52Speaker 4: they're developing. You know, they brought in all their college coaches,
- 38:56Speaker 4: and then the Marlins are going to be a good
- 38:58Speaker 4: pitching team. That if they keep some of their pitching,
- 39:01Speaker 4: which shows that they're getting rid of a lot of
- 39:03Speaker 4: their pitching. So to me, I think the Braves and
- 39:07Speaker 4: the Phillies are plus ninety one. I mean, I would
- 39:09Speaker 4: have had a tough time with his number if it
- 39:11Speaker 4: was like ninety two. But I like the over on
- 39:15Speaker 4: both them, and the Braves love it.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Hey, let's remind everyone where they can find us coming
- 39:25Speaker 1: up in person. Actually, in first off, you can hang
- 39:28Speaker 1: out with Krats online. He's got another bet MGM online
- 39:32Speaker 1: poker tournament coming soon, jumping into a Little Poker Spade
- 39:36Speaker 1: Online Championship. That stuff kicks off January eighteenth and run
- 39:40Speaker 1: through feb one, so Krats will be playing. We might
- 39:43Speaker 1: get a few of us involved online. Look out for
- 39:46Speaker 1: Krats and see how you stack up against. Bruce Banner
- 39:50Speaker 1: is the user name for Krats. If you want to
- 39:52Speaker 1: throw moochi's at him while you're playing against him, if
- 39:55Speaker 1: you want to play poker against us in person, yeah
- 39:58Speaker 1: it does, but he gets you more serious in person,
- 40:01Speaker 1: where Todd Father returns to Redsveat on Saturday to try
- 40:05Speaker 1: and win a title again. And then on Suday it's Todd, father,
- 40:08Speaker 1: Danny Graves, and myself doing a little Q and A.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Fans that are there get to ask questions. There's hard
- 40:14Speaker 1: hitters to Todd and Danny. Twelve o'clock Eastern time is when?
- 40:19Speaker 1: Or actually is it Central time that we're out there?
- 40:22Speaker 2: Is Cincinnati Eastern Eastern?
- 40:25Speaker 1: My bad? So yeah, it is Eastern time. Twelve o'clock
- 40:27Speaker 1: Eastern time, Sunday, January eighteenth, go hang out with us
- 40:31Speaker 1: at Tom's Watch Bar at the Banks that's right next
- 40:34Speaker 1: to the ballpark. And then the day before that will
- 40:36Speaker 1: be in that open tournament. It starts at three o'clock
- 40:39Speaker 1: local time, East Coast time on Saturday, so we'll be
- 40:43Speaker 1: flying out tomorrow
