- 0:02Speaker 1: the Birds podcasting is brought to you by the Fanatics
- 0:04Speaker 1: Sports Book at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City. That's
- 0:08Speaker 1: where we are today and every Monday. Got a full
- 0:11Speaker 1: bar there, Peach, you think.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Hey, college hoops already started.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I think that's what they're all watching. No, nope, all right,
- 0:22Speaker 1: we're a live at the Fanatic Sports Book. It is
- 0:24Speaker 1: football at four not going on in Eagle and even
- 0:27Speaker 1: after the bye. Let's get down to business right now.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Jeff Boucher from the Inside the Birds podcast Inside the
- 0:33Speaker 1: Birds dot Com joins me right now as we take
- 0:36Speaker 1: a look at everything Eagles as they get ready to
- 0:39Speaker 1: head back into game mode. They'll play the Packers on
- 0:42Speaker 1: Monday at football right here on ninety seven three ESPN
- 0:45Speaker 1: next Monday. But Mosh, we woke up this morning to
- 0:48Speaker 1: a trade. I'm sure you and I we were already awake.
- 0:52Speaker 1: But some people out there they woke up and saw
- 0:55Speaker 1: the Eagles had already made some moves. Let's start with
- 0:57Speaker 1: the move they made today, Jalen Phillips for third round pick.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Most initial reaction.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Is say that again, Mike, I'm sorry.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Initial reaction to Jalen Phillips for a third round pick.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Is good move, really good move. Adds in an area
- 1:18Speaker 2: that you know they've been trying to upgrade since the
- 1:21Speaker 2: start of uh you know, since the off season, since camp,
- 1:24Speaker 2: since losing Milton Williams and Josh Sweat. I think that
- 1:28Speaker 2: this will have a widespread impact on the defense as
- 1:32Speaker 2: long as Jalen Phillips can stay healthy and is as
- 1:37Speaker 2: impactful of a pass rusher as he can be. I'm
- 1:41Speaker 2: not going to hold the Miami stats against him this
- 1:44Speaker 2: year and even last because he's on such a lousy
- 1:47Speaker 2: defense and probably gets double teamed a lot. He will
- 1:49Speaker 2: not get double teamed on the Philadelphia Eagles front. You know,
- 1:52Speaker 2: you got Jalen Carter, you got Moro Jomo, you got
- 1:55Speaker 2: Nolan Smith will come back, so he'll reap the benefits
- 1:58Speaker 2: of one on ones, and he's been a very good
- 1:59Speaker 2: pass structure when he's had those opportunities. But you know,
- 2:03Speaker 2: obviously his health is his biggest issue. He's dealt with
- 2:07Speaker 2: the achilles injury, the ACL injury, the injuries going back
- 2:11Speaker 2: to college, the moped accident that he had, the wrist injury,
- 2:16Speaker 2: the concussions. He retired from college football at one point
- 2:20Speaker 2: before coming back. So as long as but as long
- 2:22Speaker 2: as he's healthy and he had, you know, then he
- 2:24Speaker 2: gives them what I think Mike is a widespread impact
- 2:28Speaker 2: because I believe it'll let Vic Fangio go back to
- 2:31Speaker 2: leaning heavier on a four man rush. And I wrote
- 2:34Speaker 2: about that on Philly Voice today and why that's so
- 2:36Speaker 2: important because clearly how he has not been able to
- 2:39Speaker 2: do much at the outside cornerback spot opposite Mitchell other
- 2:43Speaker 2: than a dart throw at jayra Alexander and then you know,
- 2:48Speaker 2: bolstering the slot position with Michael Carter too in case
- 2:51Speaker 2: they need to move Cooper to Gene outside, but without
- 2:55Speaker 2: doing much there. I think Vic would like to play
- 2:57Speaker 2: a lot more zone. He's played so much more man
- 3:00Speaker 2: coverage this year because he's blitzed more this year. And
- 3:02Speaker 2: I think Vic would love to be the guy who
- 3:05Speaker 2: in the Super Bowl never had to dial up a
- 3:07Speaker 2: single blitz because his front four got home all the time.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Right, So let's talk a little bit about how he
- 3:13Speaker 1: fits in. Because you got Nolan Smith coming back, you
- 3:15Speaker 1: got Jlex Hunt, you got Josh Hush, Brandon Graham. That's
- 3:18Speaker 1: really five guys there. Does Jalen Phillips go to the
- 3:21Speaker 1: top of the Eagles pass rush list.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Well, I mean, you know Vic likes the three man rotation, okay,
- 3:27Speaker 2: and it doesn't matter who plays the most snaps. But
- 3:30Speaker 2: you know, Jalen Phillips and Nolan Smith when he gets back,
- 3:34Speaker 2: are your sort of top two guys, and Jallex Hunt
- 3:37Speaker 2: will get in there. You're starting to play better as well,
- 3:39Speaker 2: and the snaps might differ a little bit here and
- 3:42Speaker 2: there from game to game, but those will be your
- 3:45Speaker 2: your big three. Now, he may adjust a little bit
- 3:48Speaker 2: and figure out a way to get Oucha and Brandon
- 3:50Speaker 2: Graham on the field when he can sort of like
- 3:53Speaker 2: your backup pass rush line, which he has had before.
- 3:58Speaker 2: But I don't you know, at this point, as long
- 4:00Speaker 2: as Smith, Hunt, and Phillips are healthy, I don't think
- 4:04Speaker 2: you're going to see a ton of Ouch and Brandon
- 4:08Speaker 2: Graham unless those top three guys for whatever reason aren't
- 4:11Speaker 2: getting the job done right.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So, I mean, you look at what Jalen Phillips springs.
- 4:16Speaker 1: You just talked about it. He's not gonna get double
- 4:17Speaker 1: teamed a lot. You would wonder if Vic Fangio knows
- 4:21Speaker 1: that he can do some things with him. Has he
- 4:24Speaker 1: ever played next to a guy in the league of
- 4:26Speaker 1: Jalen Carter like when those early Miami teams that Vic
- 4:30Speaker 1: played for. I mean, I know right now that they
- 4:32Speaker 1: don't have anything close to Jalen Carter, but if he's
- 4:34Speaker 1: getting one on one opportunities, I guess my question is
- 4:37Speaker 1: does this take this Eagles defense to another level.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I didn't go back and look, but I'm pretty sure
- 4:44Speaker 2: that when he had six and a half sacks in
- 4:46Speaker 2: eight games two years ago with Vic Fangio as the
- 4:49Speaker 2: defensive coordinator in Miami, I think that was Christian Wilkins
- 4:52Speaker 2: his last year in Miami. I'll go back and check,
- 4:54Speaker 2: but he has played next to a pretty formidable interior
- 4:59Speaker 2: defensive line. So not now. Again, Jillen Carter is a very,
- 5:04Speaker 2: very good but yeah, Miami was twenty twenty three. That
- 5:06Speaker 2: was Christian Wilkins's last year, and Wilkins himself had nine sacks.
- 5:09Speaker 2: You can see how that guy ate up double teams
- 5:12Speaker 2: and allowed Jilen Phillips to have a good year. So
- 5:15Speaker 2: you can see a similar effect here in Philadelphia. Jillen
- 5:18Speaker 2: Carter gets double teamed a lot. And even though Jillen
- 5:20Speaker 2: Carter has not had the type of year this year
- 5:23Speaker 2: that he did last year. He's still someone that the
- 5:25Speaker 2: offenses have to worry about and have to double team.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I have a feeling right the second half of this
- 5:31Speaker 1: year you might see a better version of Jalen Carter,
- 5:33Speaker 1: which much might mean that you might get an interesting
- 5:37Speaker 1: pass rush here if he could stay healthy. That's been
- 5:39Speaker 1: the big problem.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I mean, that's what heles are banking on. Mike. I mean,
- 5:43Speaker 2: there's no doubt that there's no huge splash move here
- 5:46Speaker 2: like Miles Garrett or Hendrickson, because they have what they
- 5:50Speaker 2: think are the pieces.
- 5:51Speaker 1: So I was gonna ask like, is this a big
- 5:53Speaker 1: enough move? Where did you think bigger? Or is this
- 5:55Speaker 1: about where you thought they would end up with?
- 5:58Speaker 2: I mean this is where I ought they would I
- 6:00Speaker 2: did not think the Miles Garrett rumor was realistic. I'm
- 6:03Speaker 2: not saying they didn't call and check in. I think
- 6:06Speaker 2: there might have been as great as Miles Garrett is,
- 6:09Speaker 2: and you find the place and make it work. Jalen
- 6:13Speaker 2: Phillips is a little bit more of an ideal fit
- 6:15Speaker 2: just from because he's played in his defense before he
- 6:17Speaker 2: can rush, and I imagine he dropped an overhang player
- 6:21Speaker 2: or an outside linebacker for Vic Fangio, whereas I'm not
- 6:24Speaker 2: quite sure Miles Garrett, you know, playing under Jim Schwartz
- 6:27Speaker 2: last few years, he's a hand in the Dirko get
- 6:29Speaker 2: the quarterback guy. Same thing with Trey Hendrickson. I don't
- 6:33Speaker 2: think those guys just come in and adjust to Vic's
- 6:38Speaker 2: defense the way Phillips will. Now, Garrett, you don't really
- 6:41Speaker 2: you just say fine, I'm not dropping you. You're You're
- 6:43Speaker 2: just that great. I'll figure it out, and I'm sure
- 6:46Speaker 2: Vick would have figured it out. I don't want to
- 6:47Speaker 2: make it sound like Garrett's a bad fit. I'm just
- 6:50Speaker 2: saying Jalen has played in the scheme, so he made
- 6:53Speaker 2: the most sense as far as reasonable, realistic targets out
- 6:56Speaker 2: there where you're not giving up, you know, all these
- 6:59Speaker 2: first round pick and paying all this money out.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Salr with Jeff Boscher Football at four from the Inside
- 7:04Speaker 1: of the Birds Podcast, The Big Trade this morning. Jalen Phillips.
- 7:07Speaker 1: So now you've got Jalen Phillips, You've got Nolan Smith
- 7:10Speaker 1: when he returns. What happens with Jalx Hunt here?
- 7:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Jalox Hunt has been coming on as
- 7:15Speaker 2: of late he's a good run defender. I don't think
- 7:17Speaker 2: his snap share is going to decrease exponentially. I think
- 7:22Speaker 2: it's going to be a sort of a thirty three
- 7:24Speaker 2: thirty three thirty three percent split when its all a
- 7:27Speaker 2: said and done between those top three guys. Again, as
- 7:30Speaker 2: long as they're all healthy and productive. But also, you
- 7:34Speaker 2: know Jalen Phillips, with his injury history, you can understand
- 7:37Speaker 2: if he doesn't play as many staff, they're able to
- 7:40Speaker 2: get some leads and they don't need him out there
- 7:42Speaker 2: rushing the pass for all the time. They may they
- 7:44Speaker 2: may get jugs hunt on the field more in those situations,
- 7:49Speaker 2: just to just keep some wear and tear off of Phillips.
- 7:52Speaker 1: All right, let's get your thoughts. You mentioned before. By
- 7:56Speaker 1: the way, you rudely did not answer my text on Saturday.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Oh you know what, I was working all that.
- 8:03Speaker 1: You were doing something that was like an emergency. You'll
- 8:06Speaker 1: make me feel bad, but I I'm driving over the bridge,
- 8:10Speaker 1: I said, you know what, I'm gonna be driving right
- 8:12Speaker 1: through Mosh's area. Let me give my buddy a text
- 8:16Speaker 1: message and I got. I got crickets.
- 8:20Speaker 2: It's my bad. I was also pulling double duty, so
- 8:22Speaker 2: I was working and and the Eagles were obviously making
- 8:25Speaker 2: moves that day with jair Well, and it had tournament.
- 8:29Speaker 1: They had not made the trade yet. You know when
- 8:31Speaker 1: it happened. I actually stopped at eight and Sands Brewery
- 8:35Speaker 1: on my way home. Okay, if you know where that is,
- 8:38Speaker 1: like in Woodbury. So I stopped there, and as I
- 8:42Speaker 1: was sitting down, I got a text message and it
- 8:45Speaker 1: said the Eagles have traded for Jay Alexander. And I said, oh,
- 8:48Speaker 1: maybe Mosh is a little busy with that, So now
- 8:51Speaker 1: I can get your reaction here instead of answering you
- 8:54Speaker 1: right next to me with a nice cold beer.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I get it, but I don't get it,
- 9:00Speaker 2: to be honest with you, I get it because it
- 9:04Speaker 2: costs them nothing. But I don't get it because why,
- 9:11Speaker 2: I mean, what are you expecting to get from Jaiir
- 9:14Speaker 2: Alexander at this stage of his career when two teams
- 9:17Speaker 2: have already said no thank you to him? One team
- 9:20Speaker 2: I think I heard you mentioned this. I mean, the
- 9:22Speaker 2: Ravens have been terrible on defense and they decided no
- 9:27Speaker 2: thanks either. And you know, they wanted him Mike because
- 9:30Speaker 2: they wanted to be able to play him outside opposite
- 9:35Speaker 2: Nate Wiggins, their second year corner who they drafted the
- 9:38Speaker 2: first round, and then that would be able to let
- 9:40Speaker 2: them play Marlon Humphrey in the slot and then keep
- 9:43Speaker 2: Kyle Williams at safety. Kyle Williams is a really good slottle.
- 9:47Speaker 2: They have a kind of an embarrassment of riches there,
- 9:49Speaker 2: but they can't. They couldn't play him. They didn't, you know,
- 9:52Speaker 2: he had the knee surgery. It didn't work out for him.
- 9:54Speaker 2: So Humphrey's going to play outside, Wiggans gonna play outside,
- 9:57Speaker 2: Williams will play the slot, which is I think what
- 9:59Speaker 2: they did last game and JayR became an untenable fifty
- 10:06Speaker 2: three roster spot for them. And I just with the
- 10:08Speaker 2: Eagles already having a logjam of and Dori Jackson a
- 10:11Speaker 2: Khilley ringo and trying to get to Corey Benner on
- 10:13Speaker 2: the field, I just I get it because it's a
- 10:16Speaker 2: dark throw, But I mean.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Well, yeah, do you make a trade for a guy
- 10:23Speaker 1: that you then end up cutting?
- 10:26Speaker 2: Well, that's what I'm saying, Like that someone's gonna have
- 10:27Speaker 2: to go because they're bringing him in.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Though, is like exactly like, do you trade for a
- 10:33Speaker 1: guy and then cut somebody else, or do you just
- 10:35Speaker 1: say we traded for you for a six round pick
- 10:37Speaker 1: and we're just gonna cut you. I mean, because I
- 10:40Speaker 1: kind of agree with you. It's worth the flyer and
- 10:43Speaker 1: I heard the whole Christian Parker worked with him in
- 10:46Speaker 1: Green Bay. Maybe he feels like, but I don't know,
- 10:49Speaker 1: you have the opinion that you're just better with Kaylee
- 10:51Speaker 1: Ringo there keeping what you have or do you look
- 10:55Speaker 1: at no, no, no, you play Jaire Alexander and keep
- 10:59Speaker 1: Cooper in the lot, or like you got gyra Xandler
- 11:02Speaker 1: and Cooper Michael Carter. Do those two guys factor into
- 11:05Speaker 1: this defense at all?
- 11:08Speaker 2: You know, I would think Michael Carter, younger, potentially healthier, imagine,
- 11:12Speaker 2: would factor into the defense because at least even if
- 11:15Speaker 2: he's not playing, if you're even if you're keeping Cooper
- 11:18Speaker 2: in the slot, you can use Michael Carter as a dime.
- 11:21Speaker 2: You can play a lot more either big nickel or dime,
- 11:24Speaker 2: because Carter is it was a safety at Duke. I mean,
- 11:26Speaker 2: he's kind of a hybrid safety nickel anyway, right, so
- 11:30Speaker 2: whatever you want to call it, big nickel dime. You
- 11:32Speaker 2: can play either or package which will come in handy again,
- 11:36Speaker 2: some of the teams you're about to or the spread
- 11:39Speaker 2: out passing offenses you're about to play Packers. Although they
- 11:42Speaker 2: took a hit with Craft, they still can and they
- 11:44Speaker 2: took a hit with Golden too. They can ordinarily spread
- 11:47Speaker 2: out obviously, you know the Lions can, the Cowboys absolutely can,
- 11:52Speaker 2: and the Chargers absolutely can. And then when you get
- 11:55Speaker 2: into the playoffs, you know you're gonna face teams like
- 11:57Speaker 2: the Rams maybe again or the Bucks who have you know,
- 12:00Speaker 2: multiple options at wide receiver slash flex tight end that
- 12:03Speaker 2: you could use an effective dying package against.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you so they end up getting two
- 12:10Speaker 1: corners in a edge guy here, and obviously Jalen Phillips,
- 12:14Speaker 1: she would hope makes a big impact. I seem to
- 12:17Speaker 1: agree with you. I don't know that jay R. Alexander
- 12:20Speaker 1: has much left in the tank, which is sad because
- 12:21Speaker 1: he's only like twenty eight years old. Yeah, but do
- 12:25Speaker 1: you do you agree that you think that Kaylee Ringo
- 12:27Speaker 1: is probably a better option than him.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I think I've heard everybody saying that today, and I
- 12:32Speaker 2: keep saying, hold on a second. They traded a fourth
- 12:35Speaker 2: round pick for Jacory and Bennett for a reason. He's
- 12:38Speaker 2: been on ir got to get him. I think he
- 12:40Speaker 2: was in the practice window before the Bible week. That
- 12:42Speaker 2: to me is the key to what happens next. I
- 12:47Speaker 2: gotta imagine they're going to get a chance to take
- 12:49Speaker 2: a look at Jacoryan Bennett as soon as he's like
- 12:52Speaker 2: they feel like he's ready to go. Okay, if you
- 12:54Speaker 2: know there.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I've been a big fan of getting Bennett, giving
- 12:58Speaker 1: Bennett the opportunity and see if he changes anything. Yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 2: And I think if Bennett works out, then that's the
- 13:04Speaker 2: best case scenario and you can keep Cooper to Gene
- 13:06Speaker 2: in the slot and you can use depth with Michael Carter.
- 13:09Speaker 2: But if Bennett doesn't work out, I don't know that
- 13:12Speaker 2: the answer is going back to Khilia Ringo. I don't.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I don't think there's fact finding here with Killer Ringle.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I think vic Fangio has pretty much said he just
- 13:19Speaker 2: needs to play more football, which is vic Fangio speak
- 13:23Speaker 2: of saying I don't want that much more football for me.
- 13:26Speaker 2: But he's far behind, right. I remember he had the
- 13:29Speaker 2: job then lost it. He was the fourth corner coming
- 13:32Speaker 2: out of camp behind adri Jackson and Jacorey and Bennett
- 13:35Speaker 2: and Quinna Mitchell. So I don't think he's the answer
- 13:39Speaker 2: at all.
- 13:40Speaker 1: What happens to John Campbell now with you made an
- 13:45Speaker 1: edge rusher, right, so is he a backup linebacker and
- 13:48Speaker 1: a Kobe Deed? Do they split time? It would seem
- 13:51Speaker 1: his edge rushing snaps are now.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Going Yeah, it's a great question. I don't know what
- 13:58Speaker 2: they're gonna do. You know, clearly they like having Nakobe
- 14:04Speaker 2: Dean's leadership on the field, and I think it does
- 14:06Speaker 2: make a difference as far as getting the defense set correctly.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It takes the eases the pressure on the rest of
- 14:13Speaker 2: the guys, especially the signal caller guys on the defense
- 14:16Speaker 2: to have to align everyone. So there's a clear benefit
- 14:20Speaker 2: in that regard to Nakobe Dean being on the field.
- 14:22Speaker 2: But you lose a lot of athletics, and you just
- 14:24Speaker 2: lose a freak of major who was playing well. So
- 14:28Speaker 2: I don't think his snaps are just going to totally
- 14:30Speaker 2: go away and vanish and he becomes kind of this
- 14:32Speaker 2: spare of art. But I do think Nikobe Dean's going
- 14:35Speaker 2: to continue to see a decent number of reps at
- 14:38Speaker 2: the off ball linebacker spot.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, you know, moving forward here, that's going
- 14:43Speaker 1: to be a storyline. You know, I would assume the
- 14:45Speaker 1: first game if he's not out there a whole hack
- 14:47Speaker 1: him a lot. Hey what's going on with your high cable.
- 14:49Speaker 1: But it's like it's a weird spot because it's not
- 14:53Speaker 1: like Dean is playing poorly, right, It's not that you
- 14:55Speaker 1: put him back out there. Hey, he was the guy
- 14:57Speaker 1: you don't lose your job, and he's gone out there
- 14:59Speaker 1: and not for he's going back and just performed. Like
- 15:02Speaker 1: it's not like so, but Campbell, you can make an
- 15:05Speaker 1: argument that performed just as well, if not slightly better
- 15:07Speaker 1: than na Kobe, who's got a bigger ceiling. I don't know,
- 15:12Speaker 1: probably probably.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, Campbell has the way bigger ceiling because he's
- 15:16Speaker 2: a freak of nature athlete and he's already played well
- 15:20Speaker 2: in year one. Like think about what you're what you
- 15:22Speaker 2: thought about Quinnon Mitchell last year playing that well in
- 15:25Speaker 2: year one? Right, Yeah, same thing with Cooper to gen
- 15:28Speaker 2: So the sky's limit for the kids, But trying to
- 15:32Speaker 2: win a Super Bowl, you're trying to keep your defense
- 15:35Speaker 2: really intact, and obviously Nakobe Dean is really really good
- 15:40Speaker 2: at getting everybody on the same page aligned diagnosed, kying
- 15:45Speaker 2: and diagnosing, and that matters. And so you know, I
- 15:50Speaker 2: think you know, you'll you'll probably okay again, You'll you'll
- 15:52Speaker 2: see him split, You'll you'll see him figure it out.
- 15:54Speaker 2: But it does feel like they need that element from
- 15:57Speaker 2: n Kobe Dean.
- 15:58Speaker 1: All Right, you wrote an article over at Phillyvoice dot
- 16:01Speaker 1: com about the self scouting. This is what you generally
- 16:04Speaker 1: do during the off week. You kind of look at everything.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Let's take a look at some of the things that
- 16:09Speaker 1: they can maybe fix here or tweak or add as
- 16:12Speaker 1: they get ready for the second half run. One of
- 16:14Speaker 1: the things you wrote about is incorporating more of an
- 16:17Speaker 1: outside run game. We saw a little glimpse of that
- 16:20Speaker 1: in the game last time we saw them on the field.
- 16:23Speaker 1: And does that mean that you have a bigger package
- 16:25Speaker 1: for Tank Bixby?
- 16:27Speaker 2: Oh well, I think that both of those things are
- 16:29Speaker 2: things that the Eagles should continue to work off of.
- 16:32Speaker 2: And I want to be perfectly clear, whether you're under center,
- 16:36Speaker 2: whether you're in shotgun, whether you're runny inside, whether you're
- 16:38Speaker 2: anny outside, whether it's Saquan or Tank, what matters is
- 16:42Speaker 2: that you execute. None of these things is a magic
- 16:45Speaker 2: wand Okay, But as I talked to some guys after
- 16:49Speaker 2: the game last game, you know, when you do these
- 16:52Speaker 2: things and put it on tape, now you give the
- 16:56Speaker 2: opponent extra stuff that they have to this is for
- 17:00Speaker 2: and that helps alleviate the predictability part that people were
- 17:04Speaker 2: getting into. It's not that the Eagles were were too predictable.
- 17:08Speaker 2: They were not executing well. But when you add stuff
- 17:11Speaker 2: on tape that you make your defense have to prepare for,
- 17:14Speaker 2: then you can literally go for any one of those
- 17:16Speaker 2: things you showed at any single time and go to
- 17:18Speaker 2: it while the defense doesn't exactly know where you might
- 17:21Speaker 2: be going with it. So yeah, I think all of
- 17:23Speaker 2: those things are things they can continue to do, should
- 17:26Speaker 2: continue to do. None of it has to be foundational,
- 17:28Speaker 2: but it's just stuff that you do and can do well.
- 17:33Speaker 1: What about AJ Brown in his role? How can they
- 17:36Speaker 1: I don't know, tweak, change, elevate make him more impactful?
- 17:44Speaker 2: So who get I'm sorry AJ Brown? Wasn't I think
- 17:53Speaker 2: AJ bradby AJ Brown? You get him the ball I
- 17:56Speaker 2: would like to see. I feel like lately his rout
- 17:59Speaker 2: tree is because like the deep comebacks, the curls sort
- 18:04Speaker 2: of like not as diverse as when he first got
- 18:07Speaker 2: to the Eagles. You know, I think they got to
- 18:09Speaker 2: get just get back to manufacturing some touches for him
- 18:12Speaker 2: as opposed to letting him come through the flow of
- 18:15Speaker 2: the game and get him involved. It will probably make
- 18:19Speaker 2: him a little happier. But it also it's not like
- 18:21Speaker 2: you're greasing a squeaky wheel. You're actually doing something good
- 18:24Speaker 2: for your offense.
- 18:25Speaker 1: You wrote about this was before the trade, about finding
- 18:29Speaker 1: your best fore man pass rush. What is that best
- 18:32Speaker 1: foreman pass rush?
- 18:34Speaker 2: Now? Yeah, I think right now it's you know, if
- 18:37Speaker 2: it's third and five against the Packers and you're jotting,
- 18:39Speaker 2: jogging out that that fore man rush and you don't
- 18:42Speaker 2: want to play man, you want to play his own,
- 18:44Speaker 2: it's gotta be Jalen Phillips on one end. It's got
- 18:47Speaker 2: to be. I would say, well, are we assuming Nolan
- 18:50Speaker 2: Smith is healthy?
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yeah, and I don't know is already shot he plays
- 18:54Speaker 1: Monday night or.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Now it's possible we have to see if he's out
- 18:57Speaker 2: of practice this week. So but he's though, right yeah, yeah,
- 19:01Speaker 2: well no he's not. He's not been active onto the
- 19:03Speaker 2: fifty three. He's still on. I don't even think they
- 19:06Speaker 2: put him in the practice window yet Mike, he's still
- 19:08Speaker 2: on ir so. But either way, the point is their
- 19:12Speaker 2: overall best four man rush will be Nolan, Smith and
- 19:15Speaker 2: Joe and Phillips on the edges and then Joemo and
- 19:18Speaker 2: Jalen Carter in the middle.
- 19:20Speaker 1: All right, well, let's see I thought I saw something
- 19:25Speaker 1: about him. Now they did place Azizo as a Laari
- 19:28Speaker 1: on injured reserve Marcus EPs Real quick, before we get
- 19:30Speaker 1: out of here, would you think that they are done
- 19:32Speaker 1: making moves or do you think they can actually trade
- 19:34Speaker 1: some of their own players to try to incorporate some
- 19:36Speaker 1: of the picks back.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Well, I would not put anything past Howie at this point.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I could see him trying to recoup picks, But I
- 19:44Speaker 2: really think you're not trying to subtract here. You got
- 19:46Speaker 2: too many guys with injury issues to start like saying, oh,
- 19:50Speaker 2: we're deep here, so I can just pawn off this
- 19:52Speaker 2: guy and pawn off that guy. So unless somebody's gonna
- 19:55Speaker 2: blow Howie out out the water for Josh Route, what
- 19:59Speaker 2: did I hear Josh? I hear Josh say he wouldn't
- 20:01Speaker 2: trade Uch for anything lower than a six round pick
- 20:05Speaker 2: or something like that.
- 20:05Speaker 1: It was something like I wouldn't trade for a six
- 20:08Speaker 1: round pick.
- 20:10Speaker 2: I don't know what josh, I don't know what just
- 20:12Speaker 2: thinks that Joshua's value around the NFL is. I mean,
- 20:16Speaker 2: he's had a nice season for the Eagles, but there's
- 20:19Speaker 2: not a big demand for what has he got one
- 20:21Speaker 2: and a half sacks? And yeah, you realistic about josh
- 20:25Speaker 2: Jay At.
- 20:26Speaker 1: This point, You've got Jalen Phillips coming in. You would
- 20:29Speaker 1: think Brandon Graham kind of takes any of Ouch's maybe,
- 20:32Speaker 1: and then do you just get a six round pick?
- 20:34Speaker 1: It's like, hey, you you take it? By the way, I.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Think josh is basically saying, you want to hold on
- 20:39Speaker 2: to Ouch and yeah, unless somebody blows the doors off
- 20:43Speaker 2: your for him, which is not gonna happen.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Tim McManus wrote this back on September twenty fourth that
- 20:48Speaker 1: the plan for Nolan Smith was to return after the
- 20:52Speaker 1: team's November tewod By. Now they had not opened any
- 20:56Speaker 1: practiced windows, but I guess that was the time frame
- 20:59Speaker 1: that I had remembered, seeing that you could potentially be
- 21:02Speaker 1: ready to play from.
- 21:03Speaker 2: What I understood, though it was an optimistic timeframe. I mean,
- 21:06Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's impossible, but that was sort of
- 21:08Speaker 2: earliest if everything goes well scenario, which you could let's see,
- 21:12Speaker 2: we'll see.
- 21:13Speaker 1: That is where I saw the fact that he could
- 21:16Speaker 1: have played uh in potentially.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Remember they they practiced Thursday, by the way, because it's
- 21:20Speaker 2: a Monday night game, they will not be you will
- 21:22Speaker 2: not get an injury report on Wednesday like you normally do.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Gotcha? All right? Well, there's Jeff Mosher from the Inside
- 21:29Speaker 1: of the Birds podcast Philly Voice, and he's got self scouting

- 21:45Speaker 1: the second half at Philly Voice dot com. All right,
- 21:48Speaker 1: potions back on Wednesday as the Eagles get ready for
- 21:51Speaker 1: the Green Bay Packers, who just lost to the Carolina
- 21:54Speaker 1: Panthers at home this past Sunday. It was a good
- 21:57Speaker 1: week for the Eagles of trade. Both teams in front
- 21:59Speaker 1: of them lost, and now they are the number one
- 22:02Speaker 1: seed in the NFC. Thanks Mosch, check your messages next time,
