- 0:31Speaker 5: Hello friends, I'm your host, christrou I'm a former Romeries commando.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I've adventured for better and sometimes worse, across eighty countries
- 0:42Speaker 1: on all seven continents. Welcome to the Port the t
- 0:46Speaker 1: Shirt Podcast. Now you know I'm always saying there is
- 0:58Speaker 1: a lot of ills going on in the world, folks.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I think if you look back from time a memorial,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you'll find that the balance of good and evil quite
- 1:07Speaker 1: likely has always been here. The utopia that we seek
- 1:13Speaker 1: on the outside, we're possibly never going to find. However,
- 1:17Speaker 1: what do I say? I say, nobody's coming to rescue you.
- 1:21Speaker 1: You've got to do it yourself. And anyone that's familiar with,
- 1:24Speaker 1: for example, the esoteric nature, the incredible allegory contained in scripture.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Will know that the answers lie inside, and that Moses
- 1:35Speaker 1: was your old testament testament pineal Gland, Jesus is your
- 1:39Speaker 1: new testament, pineal Gland. What's that telling you? That we've
- 1:43Speaker 1: got to go within? And one of the ways we
- 1:46Speaker 1: go in is through breathing inspiration or in spirit. And
- 1:52Speaker 1: Tim is the man, my elite Force's brother that's going
- 1:57Speaker 1: to enlighten us to all of this. But I do
- 2:00Speaker 1: want to tease out some of Tim's backstory first, because
- 2:03Speaker 1: Tim was ambushed in Afghanistan. It all kicked off, it
- 2:08Speaker 1: got unpleasant, and probably, like me, I think after Tim
- 2:12Speaker 1: left the forces, there was quite a bit of readjustment.
- 2:15Speaker 1: So without more ado, Tim, how are you doing, Sir Chris.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Great to be here and thank you for that warm welcome.
- 2:23Speaker 1: No problem, to be honest, I think if I were you,
- 2:25Speaker 1: i'd be outsurfing rather than talking to a boring Englishman.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Well, you're right, it's probably getting colder over there while
- 2:34Speaker 2: it's getting warmer down here down Under.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yeah, And didn't we just have two poms attacked by
- 2:40Speaker 1: a bull shark in yeah?
- 2:42Speaker 2: Yeah? Well that's the other thing in down Under there
- 2:45Speaker 2: is plenty of sharks in the water as well, and
- 2:48Speaker 2: I believe I don't watch a lot of news, but yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 2: two tourists were taken and I do believe they're from
- 2:55Speaker 2: the UK.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that's kind of when I was backpacking around or right.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I love to surf. You know Newcastle just north of Cydny. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I popped in a second hand shot there and it
- 3:09Speaker 1: was Derby days, really important for you guys. You know
- 3:13Speaker 1: the race day is it the Melbourne Cup?
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah, very good. Yeah, yeah, you're across it.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah, this was a long time ago. So I'm digging
- 3:20Speaker 1: deep hitting and I went in there and they were
- 3:23Speaker 1: all getting all the staff in the shop were watching
- 3:26Speaker 1: the telly getting drunk and they were like, yeah, mate,
- 3:29Speaker 1: just pick pick any surpboard you want, just take it.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I'm like, wall, you don't want any money.
- 3:34Speaker 2: They're like no, no, no.
- 3:35Speaker 1: You know you're we'll we'll treat you know that that
- 3:38Speaker 1: one mate. And then they even give me the octopus
- 3:41Speaker 1: straps to put it on. Put it on my higher
- 3:44Speaker 1: car and yeah. I spent incredible six weeks going up
- 3:48Speaker 1: and down the East Coast, but every time I was
- 3:51Speaker 1: in that water, especially early in the morning. You you
- 3:54Speaker 1: just think, you know, it just could happen. And I
- 3:58Speaker 1: know statistically it's nonsense, But you know, ste you, I
- 4:03Speaker 1: tell my audience, Steven Spielberg serves a function. His function
- 4:06Speaker 1: is to keep people in trauma. You know that film Jaws.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Is it's not done a lot for the shark species,
- 4:14Speaker 1: is it.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, And you're right, You're more likely to die
- 4:19Speaker 2: from eating baked bean statistically than getting eaten by shark.
- 4:23Speaker 2: But when you're in that environment, it really challenges our
- 4:26Speaker 2: idea of being top of the food chain, because this
- 4:29Speaker 2: is why shark attacks are so scary, at least in
- 4:31Speaker 2: my world, because we think we are top of the
- 4:34Speaker 2: food chain, where this godlike removal from anything else on
- 4:38Speaker 2: this planet. But when we're in the water and there's
- 4:40Speaker 2: something genuinely more powerful than us and we're part of
- 4:43Speaker 2: the food chain, that is almost too much to handle
- 4:46Speaker 2: and shocked, terror and fear kick in. But to me,
- 4:50Speaker 2: it's actually quite beautiful to be in a space where
- 4:56Speaker 2: you have to work in with something so much greater
- 4:58Speaker 2: than you and done right unlocks all these different parts
- 5:02Speaker 2: of a person. Because our ancestors had to, you know,
- 5:05Speaker 2: go into these places of danger just to feed their families.
- 5:09Speaker 2: And you know, our genetics I believe are still in us.
- 5:13Speaker 2: We just lack the environment for all those things to
- 5:15Speaker 2: come out. Point in fact, I've just I just led
- 5:18Speaker 2: a group of men on something I call the Apex Odyssey.
- 5:22Speaker 2: And the only place you can swim with great whites
- 5:24Speaker 2: in Australia is Port Lincoln. So I took five men
- 5:28Speaker 2: out there. We went out to the Neptune Islands. We
- 5:31Speaker 2: put tuna blood in the water, we were in a
- 5:33Speaker 2: cage and all that. And on the day they didn't
- 5:37Speaker 2: we didn't see any But just the just the fact
- 5:40Speaker 2: of going into a place where you're not the biggest
- 5:44Speaker 2: you know, fish in the sea or the top of
- 5:47Speaker 2: the top of the food chain. Really and I actually
- 5:51Speaker 2: do it every every year I go there. I'll dive
- 5:55Speaker 2: in waters, you know, without a cage or anything like that.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And I've just noticed that in those environments, Chris, my
- 6:02Speaker 2: courage fails me. And what I've noticed about fear is
- 6:06Speaker 2: fear is me worrying about something that hasn't happened yet.
- 6:10Speaker 2: So when I'm swimming in these green, murky waters where
- 6:14Speaker 2: jaws could appear any minute, and you have to remember,
- 6:16Speaker 2: a great white can see through you. They've got a
- 6:18Speaker 2: nervous system that can pick up electrical energy. So if
- 6:21Speaker 2: you're stress, they'll know it. They'll think your food. So
- 6:24Speaker 2: the only way for me to get a really clean
- 6:26Speaker 2: slate is to give up all the things I'm attached to.
- 6:29Speaker 2: So I'm swimming around and I have to give up
- 6:31Speaker 2: my desire to ever walk on land again. I have
- 6:34Speaker 2: to give up my desire to ever see a sunset.
- 6:36Speaker 2: I have to give up my desire to ever talk
- 6:38Speaker 2: to someone I care about again. And once I empty
- 6:41Speaker 2: myself of all these things I'm trying to hang on to,
- 6:43Speaker 2: all of a sudden something turns on inside of me,
- 6:46Speaker 2: and it's this complete oneness and I can be with
- 6:49Speaker 2: it all. And so if a shark did turn up,
- 6:52Speaker 2: of course it doesn't make me bulletproof, but it's not
- 6:55Speaker 2: going to mistake me for food, because I'm not going
- 6:57Speaker 2: to be overreacting.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting what you said then, because I always
- 7:04Speaker 1: believe when we sort of wandered the forests gathering our
- 7:07Speaker 1: food for these I think it's like billions of years.
- 7:11Speaker 1: There's certainly millions of years long, longer than than history
- 7:16Speaker 1: of science has taught us any recorded history. Yeah, but
- 7:19Speaker 1: I always think that we would have been in nirvana.
- 7:22Speaker 1: We'd literally would have been in the moment all the time,
- 7:26Speaker 1: with the exception of when we faced a predator. And
- 7:29Speaker 1: isn't it interesting how that electrical nervous system court is
- 7:34Speaker 1: all going into your blood. It immediately drags you from
- 7:38Speaker 1: spirit into material, you know, into the real world to
- 7:43Speaker 1: fight to sort out your problem, and then boom back
- 7:46Speaker 1: to paradise again.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Well, here's the thing. I believe people like you and
- 7:50Speaker 2: me and a lot of veterans are in this place.
- 7:52Speaker 2: So I imagine a hunter gatherers. They're walking around the
- 7:55Speaker 2: place and danger appears, and there's people that now actually
- 8:00Speaker 2: run away from it, and then there's people that go
- 8:03Speaker 2: time to switch on, let's go towards it, And that's
- 8:06Speaker 2: how we get wired. And our body is just a
- 8:08Speaker 2: sacrifice on the back of our intention. Our intention is
- 8:10Speaker 2: to keep our love one safe and if we sacrifice
- 8:12Speaker 2: our body in the process, that's what we're born to do.
- 8:15Speaker 2: And I would I would I actually find that when
- 8:19Speaker 2: you're in the in the moment of what most people
- 8:24Speaker 2: consider terror, certain people switch on more and they become
- 8:29Speaker 2: I would say spirit and flesh and carn't it all
- 8:31Speaker 2: of a sudden. I didn't know I could dilate time,
- 8:34Speaker 2: you know, like in the matrix where it's bullet time.
- 8:38Speaker 2: It wasn't quite like that, But I didn't know that
- 8:41Speaker 2: when I was in my very first sort of contact
- 8:44Speaker 2: that seconds could slow down to, like one second was
- 8:48Speaker 2: like thirty seconds, you know, so five seconds was like
- 8:52Speaker 2: a couple of minutes, and it was It was somewhat
- 8:57Speaker 2: euphoric because it was this mindful moment where you didn't
- 9:02Speaker 2: care about Yesterday didn't exist, Tomorrow didn't exist. I didn't
- 9:05Speaker 2: even know my name. I just knew what I needed
- 9:07Speaker 2: to do next. I knew I knew the people around me,
- 9:11Speaker 2: you know, this sense of connection that happened when we
- 9:14Speaker 2: had an external threat that appeared. Now, obviously I don't
- 9:19Speaker 2: think we're built for that all the time. And my
- 9:22Speaker 2: art form for the last you know, fifteen plus years,
- 9:25Speaker 2: have been helping people unwind their threat response to you know, go,
- 9:32Speaker 2: you know what, It's okay to go in the cave.
- 9:34Speaker 2: It's okay to love the people I love. It's okay
- 9:36Speaker 2: to see beauty all around me. It's okay to let
- 9:39Speaker 2: the tension out of my system. I don't have to
- 9:41Speaker 2: be on point all the time. So I do think,
- 9:45Speaker 2: you know, you know, under heaven and earth, there's a
- 9:47Speaker 2: time and a place for everything, and I think it's
- 9:50Speaker 2: good to find out what your body can do. I
- 9:53Speaker 2: didn't know why. I just knew if there was a
- 9:55Speaker 2: war in my generation, I had to be a part
- 9:57Speaker 2: of it because I wanted to see how this body
- 9:59Speaker 2: would react, because there was stuff in there that would
- 10:01Speaker 2: never appear until I was actually in that physical space.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Because the strength of our ancestors didn't disappear. It's still
- 10:07Speaker 2: in us. But we kind of live such a comfortable life.
- 10:10Speaker 2: We don't know just how our bodies react. We don't
- 10:14Speaker 2: tap into that DNA that is so powerful. But I
- 10:19Speaker 2: think I kind of went a bit too hard in
- 10:21Speaker 2: that and I cooked myself. I got a dreamal fatigue
- 10:24Speaker 2: on the back of PDSD, And there was this point
- 10:28Speaker 2: where I was about to kill a man because I'd
- 10:31Speaker 2: reach rock bottom. It was twenty eleven in April and
- 10:34Speaker 2: family was falling apart, and someone said, Tim, you've got
- 10:37Speaker 2: a You're all messed up. You've got to see a psychologist.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And that didn't make any sense to me. Chris because
- 10:44Speaker 2: I didn't know this guy. I didn't trust this guy.
- 10:47Speaker 2: What help is he going to do? And then I'm like,
- 10:50Speaker 2: what do I know? I'm the one going crazy apparently.
- 10:53Speaker 2: So I go to this guy and I pay a
- 10:54Speaker 2: lot of money to see him, and I'm quite triggered
- 10:57Speaker 2: just being in that space, having to talk about all
- 11:00Speaker 2: this stuff, and this happens. I'm not the only one.
- 11:03Speaker 2: The experience is they finally stick their hand up for help,
- 11:06Speaker 2: and help doesn't help. In fact, help makes it worse.
- 11:10Speaker 2: This guy wasn't just incompetent, you know. I could handle
- 11:13Speaker 2: in competency, Chris, what I couldn't handle his apathy. He
- 11:16Speaker 2: just didn't give a crap. So I told him all
- 11:18Speaker 2: the crap that I saw in service Afghanistan. And at
- 11:21Speaker 2: the end he kind of snorts and goes, ah, you
- 11:24Speaker 2: think it was a problem with your mum and dad,
- 11:25Speaker 2: And I tell you I hadn't had time dilation since Afghanistan.
- 11:29Speaker 2: But that whole office froze. I immediately became aware of
- 11:33Speaker 2: everything in that room. And I saw this guy, and
- 11:36Speaker 2: I saw it as fortuitous that he had a glass
- 11:39Speaker 2: frame psychology degree behind him and with a certain skill set.
- 11:43Speaker 2: I knew there wasn't a man on the planet that
- 11:44Speaker 2: could stop me getting out of my chair, grabbing that
- 11:47Speaker 2: psychology degree and feeding it down his throat because he
- 11:51Speaker 2: was supposed to be a healer. In my mind, I
- 11:53Speaker 2: was in a state of disconnect. In my state of disconnect,
- 11:56Speaker 2: it made a lot of sense to remove this person
- 11:59Speaker 2: who wasn't just not healing, he was causing harm. And
- 12:02Speaker 2: I get out of my chair to do this, and
- 12:04Speaker 2: I feel this hand on my chest and it was
- 12:07Speaker 2: it was words like red flag, red flag. I've never
- 12:11Speaker 2: heard those words before, and it was, Tim, you're the
- 12:14Speaker 2: toughest guy. You know how many other people are struggling
- 12:18Speaker 2: in a system that doesn't seem to care or even
- 12:22Speaker 2: know how to help. And feeling quite lost, I sat
- 12:25Speaker 2: back down. But Chris, that's when I saw him. I
- 12:28Speaker 2: literally saw thousands of people to my left and to
- 12:31Speaker 2: my right looking in They were hurting, and I was
- 12:34Speaker 2: looking into me, saying, Tim, if you can find a
- 12:36Speaker 2: way forward for you, you can find a way forward
- 12:39Speaker 2: for us. And then all of a sudden, this guy
- 12:41Speaker 2: just disappeared because he wasn't the thing. I said to myself,
- 12:44Speaker 2: and look, it doesn't matter if it takes me a week,
- 12:48Speaker 2: a year, a decade to find healing. I've got to
- 12:50Speaker 2: find a way through this, because if it takes me
- 12:52Speaker 2: ten years to get through this, that's the amount of
- 12:55Speaker 2: time I'm going to be able to save all those
- 12:56Speaker 2: people in the same situation. And that was that was
- 12:59Speaker 2: the day I broke my isolation, because in my state
- 13:03Speaker 2: of disconnect, I thought all sorts of crazy stuff was possible.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I was about to kill a man. I was about
- 13:08Speaker 2: to murder a man. I wasn't getting paid for this,
- 13:11Speaker 2: and that made sense in my state of disconnect. But
- 13:13Speaker 2: when I asked this golden question, and I do ask
- 13:16Speaker 2: everyone listening to draw this question to them. With what
- 13:19Speaker 2: you're up against, and we're all up against something. How
- 13:21Speaker 2: many other people are in your situation? And I invite
- 13:25Speaker 2: you to give it a real number. At the time,
- 13:27Speaker 2: I thought at least a few thousand. So I put
- 13:30Speaker 2: those thousands of people left and right of me, and
- 13:32Speaker 2: then they were looking in encouraging me sincerely, and you know,
- 13:37Speaker 2: to find a way forward. And that when my isolation broke,
- 13:41Speaker 2: all of a sudden, it was like this tornicqut came
- 13:43Speaker 2: off my thinking mind. It's like my higher thoughts kicked
- 13:47Speaker 2: in and I started thinking as a collective and all
- 13:50Speaker 2: these crazy thoughts of revenge and violence towards people that
- 13:54Speaker 2: had pissed me off. Because everything pissed me off. We're relaxed,
- 13:58Speaker 2: and I thought, well, I need to start, but firstly
- 14:00Speaker 2: breaking the isolation and others, because pain makes people feel
- 14:04Speaker 2: alone and that's the worst thing pain does. And so
- 14:07Speaker 2: I had this goal Chris, of saving forty veteran lives,
- 14:12Speaker 2: and I didn't care if I worked the rest of
- 14:13Speaker 2: my life to do that. But with the programs I created,
- 14:16Speaker 2: they did two things, break the isolation through simple sharing,
- 14:21Speaker 2: authentic sharing of stories. And once the isolation was broken,
- 14:26Speaker 2: we needed to get them out of fatigue. Because if
- 14:29Speaker 2: if I'm the only one that if I'm feeling all
- 14:32Speaker 2: alone and isolated, I'm the only one that's got my back.
- 14:35Speaker 2: No one's got my back. I can't drop my guard
- 14:37Speaker 2: for a second because if I dropped my guard, something
- 14:39Speaker 2: bad's going to happen, you know, and it's going to
- 14:40Speaker 2: be my fault because I dropped my guard. So I'm
- 14:43Speaker 2: feeling alone and isolated. I'm not sleeping, so I'm very fatigued.
- 14:46Speaker 2: So we noticed that once we broke people's FORTI broke
- 14:50Speaker 2: people's isolation and loneliness, and they'd say words like fuck.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I thought I was the only one. So when I
- 14:55Speaker 2: heard those words come out of people's mouth, I'm like,
- 14:58Speaker 2: that's the first step in the healing journey. And this,
- 15:00Speaker 2: this is what millions of dollars get poured into, you know,
- 15:04Speaker 2: veteran mental health, but mental health in general. Veterans are
- 15:06Speaker 2: humans too, and its and it's just water off a
- 15:09Speaker 2: duck's back if you're not breaking the isolation and you're
- 15:11Speaker 2: not getting people out of fatigue. And so I noticed
- 15:14Speaker 2: that once you broke people's isolation genuinely and they felt
- 15:18Speaker 2: they were part of something more and they started sleeping better,
- 15:21Speaker 2: you didn't You only needed two or three percent of
- 15:25Speaker 2: the resources you thought you needed because these people had
- 15:28Speaker 2: their internal golden compass turned on again and they knew
- 15:32Speaker 2: where they needed to go. And so that goal of
- 15:35Speaker 2: saving forty veteran lives, that lifetime goal was achieved within
- 15:39Speaker 2: twelve months.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Awesome. Well, let's peel back to the beginning of your
- 15:42Speaker 1: story then, because, as you know, my sort of campaign
- 15:46Speaker 1: at the moment in my build up to Mount Everest
- 15:50Speaker 1: is I want people to start talking about the mom
- 15:53Speaker 1: and the dad, and I had so many people on
- 15:56Speaker 1: this show, so many people I meet. First Off, when
- 16:00Speaker 1: I speak to military kids, they say, hey, Chris, I
- 16:03Speaker 1: was a military brat, and they actually say that, like like,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I'm going to be impressed that they've taken on board
- 16:11Speaker 1: this oppressive moniker. That is a hideous thing to call
- 16:14Speaker 1: any child, and that they don't understand that going to say,
- 16:19Speaker 1: five schools before you were ten years old is incredibly
- 16:24Speaker 1: traumatizing and damaging, and five sets of new relationships, five
- 16:28Speaker 1: sets of bullies to five sets of teachers. You know,
- 16:31Speaker 1: back in my day, certainly they weren't not all teachers
- 16:35Speaker 1: were very nice. In fact, most of them were. You'd
- 16:37Speaker 1: call them evil. Some of the stuff teachers used to
- 16:40Speaker 1: do to us, you'd get like five years in prison
- 16:43Speaker 1: for doing that.
- 16:44Speaker 2: You'd make the front page of the paper just on
- 16:47Speaker 2: a Tuesday.
- 16:47Speaker 1: So I say to these interviews, I say, first off,
- 16:49Speaker 1: don't ever refer to yourself as that in my presence. Again,
- 16:52Speaker 1: that's just offensive to everyone. You know. Secondly, acknowledge the
- 16:56Speaker 1: fact that your dad, his job was way more important
- 16:59Speaker 1: to him than you were, and that is that is
- 17:02Speaker 1: highly damaged to you as a child, that your primary caregiver, givers,
- 17:07Speaker 1: your mother and father, one of them was absent from
- 17:10Speaker 1: your life, rejected you. I don't tim obviously, I don't
- 17:14Speaker 1: say it like this. I'm saying this for the purpose
- 17:16Speaker 1: of the podcast and just saying it. How so, this
- 17:20Speaker 1: is what I want to get people talking about. Like
- 17:22Speaker 1: I say, when when my friend Craig killed himself earlier
- 17:26Speaker 1: this year, I read his book. He gave Afghanistan, you know,
- 17:30Speaker 1: like a few pages and he got you know, they
- 17:34Speaker 1: got really stuck in over there, and he gave his
- 17:37Speaker 1: turbulent youth chapters and there I couldn't see one mention
- 17:43Speaker 1: of his father, but I mean probably was in there somewhere.
- 17:47Speaker 1: It was a while ago I read it. But what
- 17:49Speaker 1: I saw was, you know, drug use, violence, criminality, and
- 17:55Speaker 1: then finally the salvation of the raw marines offering this opportunity,
- 18:01Speaker 1: which was you know, which was the story for so
- 18:05Speaker 1: many of us. Now I could easily say that I
- 18:08Speaker 1: landed on my ass chronically addicted to crystal meth, mentally unwell,
- 18:13Speaker 1: homeless on the streets of Hong Kong. Oh, that was
- 18:16Speaker 1: because of my military service. And my family would love
- 18:18Speaker 1: it if I said that, because it absolves them of
- 18:22Speaker 1: any responsibility. Not not tim that I blame them at all,
- 18:26Speaker 1: obviously I'm a mature adult now, But you know, it's
- 18:31Speaker 1: it's just so often I have to point out to
- 18:34Speaker 1: people that, oh, you said you had a wonderful childhood,
- 18:38Speaker 1: and in the next breath you said your parents got
- 18:40Speaker 1: divorce when you were seven. It's it's and I'm being
- 18:44Speaker 1: in like a bit you know, harsh here, obviously because
- 18:47Speaker 1: people who haven't studied this stuff can't be expected to know,
- 18:51Speaker 1: you know, the foundation of PTSD or complex PTSD. But
- 18:56Speaker 1: I just wondered if that's an area you've explored with
- 19:00Speaker 1: spack to you know, you've clearly you're clearly on the
- 19:04Speaker 1: enlightenment path, and.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I think it's trauma right now. Chris, Yeah, Okay, It's
- 19:11Speaker 2: true that they say PDSD needs two events. One sort
- 19:16Speaker 2: of sets you up and the other knocks you over.
- 19:18Speaker 2: The setup in my case was bullying from a senior
- 19:25Speaker 2: ranking person who, as I perceived, his actions, put my
- 19:29Speaker 2: family at risk. So he this sergeant figured out that
- 19:34Speaker 2: you couldn't scare me. It's just not going to happen.
- 19:37Speaker 2: You get me to dig ten latrines. That just makes
- 19:39Speaker 2: me stronger, and he then went after my family. And
- 19:43Speaker 2: as I perceived it, it's like he took the things
- 19:46Speaker 2: that I value most and and hurt me with them.
- 19:50Speaker 2: And that happened before the ambush in two thousand and nine.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I think we're in Kajakie and getting shot at wasn't
- 20:00Speaker 2: uncommon in Afghanistan. It was a pretty daily thing. But
- 20:04Speaker 2: on this occasion what set me up for PDSD is
- 20:07Speaker 2: I perceive it was a betrayal from someone senior that
- 20:12Speaker 2: put my family at risk. And then on this occasion,
- 20:15Speaker 2: we knew that there was an RPG ambush rocket propeled
- 20:18Speaker 2: grenade ambush waiting for US upp ahead. Not unusual that,
- 20:23Speaker 2: you know, the insurgents had been playing this game for
- 20:25Speaker 2: a long time, and so the order came down to
- 20:28Speaker 2: put the heavily armored vehicles to the rear of the convoy,
- 20:31Speaker 2: because the rear vehicle is the least offended, so that's
- 20:34Speaker 2: the one that takes all the heat. And we had
- 20:36Speaker 2: these things called bush Masters that could take an RPG
- 20:39Speaker 2: no problem. The vehicle I was in was just the
- 20:42Speaker 2: usual Special Forces. It was actually a range Rover, a
- 20:47Speaker 2: British made range rover with the roof cut off and
- 20:50Speaker 2: sort of you know, machine guns put in place now
- 20:53Speaker 2: in the fog of war. You might call it this
- 20:56Speaker 2: bush master cut us off. And we were now the
- 20:59Speaker 2: rear vehicle heading into this RPG ambush. And I saw
- 21:05Speaker 2: that as a great act of betrayal. My vehicle commander
- 21:09Speaker 2: look back and said, Fellas, if this goes away, I
- 21:12Speaker 2: think it will, it's been an honor serving with you.
- 21:14Speaker 2: And I felt such rage because in my mind, the
- 21:20Speaker 2: officer in that vehicle was looking after his own ass
- 21:23Speaker 2: by leaving ours out to get blown to hell. And
- 21:28Speaker 2: I had this replay. You know, they call it the
- 21:31Speaker 2: ramp ceremony when they're carrying the flag bodied, flag covered
- 21:35Speaker 2: body of the fallen soldier down the ramp of the airplane.
- 21:38Speaker 2: And I saw my own ramp ceremony, and I saw
- 21:40Speaker 2: my wife and my two young kids crying. You know,
- 21:44Speaker 2: as this happened, I'm like, that fucker in the front
- 21:48Speaker 2: is now going to be you know. So this second betrayal,
- 21:51Speaker 2: as I saw it, that's what tipped me into this
- 21:54Speaker 2: set of crazy eyes. And we had about five minutes
- 21:59Speaker 2: before we hit the kill, and I was I discovered
- 22:03Speaker 2: just how angry I could get you know, and in
- 22:05Speaker 2: my in my emotional state, I completely disconnected from myself.
- 22:10Speaker 2: My high thinking was like it's like there was no
- 22:12Speaker 2: one else in the vehicle except me. But then like
- 22:15Speaker 2: this strange question came to me, Chris that I've that
- 22:19Speaker 2: sculpted me to this day, And it was Tim, how
- 22:22Speaker 2: many other people have done this before and how did
- 22:26Speaker 2: they get through it? And I'm like, I don't know anybody,
- 22:29Speaker 2: And I began to feel very alone. The night got
- 22:33Speaker 2: darker and Australia seemed like a very far far place
- 22:37Speaker 2: away from where we were. But then I started thinking,
- 22:40Speaker 2: you know what I do know some men on a
- 22:43Speaker 2: night as dark as this came up against an enemy
- 22:47Speaker 2: that was waiting for them, the ANZACs. So my mind
- 22:50Speaker 2: went back in time to these ANZACs and they were
- 22:53Speaker 2: heading up this beach. The Turks were waiting for them,
- 22:56Speaker 2: and what did they do? They kept moving forward. The
- 23:00Speaker 2: outside world could not stop them from seeing the power
- 23:04Speaker 2: inside them. And on Anzac Day, Chris in Australia, and
- 23:08Speaker 2: you say it too, I'm sure we say less we forget,
- 23:11Speaker 2: less we forget. And it was like these ANZACs poked
- 23:14Speaker 2: a hole through time started finger pointing me in the
- 23:17Speaker 2: chest and saying, lest you forget, lest you forget the
- 23:20Speaker 2: power inside of you, Lest you forget the power looking
- 23:23Speaker 2: after your mates. And I tell you, Chris, that in
- 23:25Speaker 2: that moment, my isolation was broken, and it was like
- 23:28Speaker 2: night turned into day. And what happened next was was
- 23:33Speaker 2: this series of amazing events that that happened once I
- 23:37Speaker 2: gave up on my woe is me, this is and
- 23:40Speaker 2: worrying about the stuff that hasn't happened yet. I literally
- 23:43Speaker 2: saw my circulatory system jump out in front of me
- 23:46Speaker 2: and I was looking at it like a map, and
- 23:48Speaker 2: I saw that, you know, the blood gone from the
- 23:49Speaker 2: heart down the legs up into the brain. And I'm like,
- 23:51Speaker 2: you know what, the brain is the only thing I
- 23:53Speaker 2: need to maintain positive pressure. So I can lose an
- 23:57Speaker 2: arm and a leg that is it's RPGs, you know,
- 24:00Speaker 2: but I might lose two. So let's put two tornique's
- 24:04Speaker 2: on my chest. So normally we have one, but we
- 24:07Speaker 2: put I put a second one up there because I
- 24:09Speaker 2: was on the fifty cow so I'll be the one
- 24:11Speaker 2: drawing most of the bullets, and I needed to be
- 24:14Speaker 2: ready in case something, you know, hurt my mates as well.
- 24:18Speaker 2: And when I broke my isolation. It was like, all
- 24:22Speaker 2: these options came to me that I never thought was available.
- 24:25Speaker 2: And a strange thing happened. When you have more energy
- 24:29Speaker 2: in the moment, your thoughts can think higher. And I thought, well,
- 24:33Speaker 2: you know what, they might find my body in five
- 24:36Speaker 2: minutes time, But you know what they're not going to find.
- 24:38Speaker 2: They're not going to find magazines full of bullets. I
- 24:41Speaker 2: am emptying all my ammunition on this one. And then
- 24:43Speaker 2: it kind of dawned on me. I'm like, crap, you know,
- 24:46Speaker 2: guess what. My magazines contain bullets, But my mind, Our
- 24:51Speaker 2: minds contained something so much more powerful than bullets. They
- 24:55Speaker 2: contain ideas, They contain hopes and dreams. I'm like, why
- 24:59Speaker 2: die with all those things still in your head? So
- 25:01Speaker 2: if I survive this tonight, it is time to empty
- 25:04Speaker 2: a magazine. I Am not going to put my body
- 25:06Speaker 2: into the grave before I empty out everything I have
- 25:10Speaker 2: in my head.
- 25:11Speaker 1: And so I've got two things going on there. I
- 25:14Speaker 1: noticed we've conveniently skipped over the childhood stuff, which I'd
- 25:18Speaker 1: like to cover because this feelings of rage and anger
- 25:21Speaker 1: and feeling that our families are you know, that doesn't
- 25:25Speaker 1: come from nowhere. Tim does it. But also before we
- 25:30Speaker 1: do that, let's talk about this ambush. So where were
- 25:33Speaker 1: the rounds hitting? Well, i'd worked out with my higher
- 25:36Speaker 1: thinking kicked in. These are our pgs we're going to
- 25:39Speaker 1: get hit with. And they self detonate at fifteen hundred meters,
- 25:42Speaker 1: so they're going to be probably and they don't want
- 25:43Speaker 1: to be too close to us, so they they're going
- 25:47Speaker 1: to be, you know, shooting at us between eight hundred
- 25:49Speaker 1: and one point two kilometers away.
- 25:52Speaker 2: And I worked out the arcs and I'm like, if
- 25:53Speaker 2: we're going at thirty five ks, now, we're going to
- 25:55Speaker 2: be inside the killbox for maybe three or four minutes.
- 25:58Speaker 2: And I thought, well even if I even if I
- 26:00Speaker 2: bleed out and die, my mates will be able to
- 26:03Speaker 2: revive me with a you know, IV drip. So I
- 26:07Speaker 2: did an interview on ABC National and I actually wrote
- 26:11Speaker 2: a book about it. My standard answer, Chris is, you know,
- 26:14Speaker 2: just by the book if you want to know what happened.
- 26:17Speaker 2: But look between you and me, like I said, bombs, bullets,
- 26:21Speaker 2: daily ambushes happen every day. On that occasion, for whatever reason,
- 26:26Speaker 2: no one pulled the trigger. We went through the kill
- 26:29Speaker 2: box and absolutely nothing happened Wow, but it was. But
- 26:33Speaker 2: it was one of the rare occasions where you actually
- 26:35Speaker 2: knew it was going to come and you had those
- 26:38Speaker 2: sort of thoughts about stuff beforehand.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Yes, you've got off lightly, are we saying on that occasion, yes, yeah,
- 26:46Speaker 1: and going back to them before your service and what
- 26:49Speaker 1: you know, I think people don't just join up for
- 26:52Speaker 1: no reason, and you know, to come out of service
- 26:56Speaker 1: and have complex PTSD. Obviously, that's a build up, that's
- 27:01Speaker 1: your whole life has led to that point. And I
- 27:04Speaker 1: just wondered if we could explore that.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Sure, sure, and I don't want to. I didn't skip
- 27:09Speaker 2: over the childhood stuff. I mean, I had a regular childhood.
- 27:14Speaker 2: There wasn't anything there that I would say that set
- 27:17Speaker 2: me up for the PTSD I had in Afghanistan. That's
- 27:20Speaker 2: why I sort of caveated that most PDSD has an
- 27:23Speaker 2: event before which in some cases would be childhood trauma,
- 27:27Speaker 2: but in my case was an experience of higher ranking officer,
- 27:32Speaker 2: you know, screwing me over. I joined the military at thirty.
- 27:38Speaker 2: They were running this direct recruiting into special forces in
- 27:42Speaker 2: Australia for the very first time in Australia's history. If
- 27:46Speaker 2: you passed all the testing to get in, and you
- 27:50Speaker 2: did your basic, you did your advance, you could get
- 27:52Speaker 2: a chance to go on Special Forces selection and obviously
- 27:56Speaker 2: if you pass that only then could you get let in.
- 27:58Speaker 2: So in two thys and four, essentially the government you
- 28:02Speaker 2: wore was coming, so they had money, but no bums
- 28:04Speaker 2: on seats for you know, Special Forces. And the oldest
- 28:10Speaker 2: alliable age was thirty and I was thirty and everyone
- 28:13Speaker 2: was saying I was too old. My nickname was old
- 28:16Speaker 2: Man Tomo, which I didn't particularly like that I in
- 28:21Speaker 2: my twenties, I was a professional fighter, so before mixed
- 28:26Speaker 2: martial arts was a thing, there was no rules. Fighting
- 28:29Speaker 2: which was semi legal held in underground biker bars, and
- 28:33Speaker 2: back in the nineties you could smoke in pubs, so
- 28:36Speaker 2: you know you're walking out to the ring coughing up
- 28:38Speaker 2: half a lung. I would say, though, if we're talking
- 28:42Speaker 2: about trauma. I was raised in a very conservative Christian household,
- 28:47Speaker 2: like it was obey the letter of the law right,
- 28:50Speaker 2: and you were taught to turn the other cheek. And
- 28:52Speaker 2: can you imagine how quick it was that the other
- 28:56Speaker 2: kids in the playground realized they could punch the big
- 28:58Speaker 2: guy in the face. It out and he wouldn't do anything,
- 29:01Speaker 2: you know, So there was that was a thing, right.
- 29:04Speaker 2: So in many ways, my getting my power back when
- 29:09Speaker 2: I was doing the professional fighting could have well been
- 29:13Speaker 2: a trauma response because it felt it felt great to
- 29:16Speaker 2: be in this sort of combat where you could you
- 29:18Speaker 2: could hit back. You know.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's in psychological tone. It's called taking control to him,
- 29:24Speaker 1: isn't it. It's that it's the same. It's there's parallels
- 29:29Speaker 1: there with alcohol and drugs. It's you can do this
- 29:32Speaker 1: behavior and it puts you in the control seat as
- 29:35Speaker 1: opposed to that innocent child who had the control taken
- 29:40Speaker 1: taken away from them. And yeah, I appreciate you saying
- 29:43Speaker 1: that because i've kind of sometime was chatting with someone
- 29:45Speaker 1: yesterday and they were like, you know, is your podcast
- 29:48Speaker 1: political crew? And I was like, no, not at all.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I'm a freedom you know, enlightened person and I just
- 29:54Speaker 1: want to give this back to other people, and I
- 29:57Speaker 1: use various mechanisms to do that. And what they've done
- 30:00Speaker 1: over the years is I've just moved away from the
- 30:03Speaker 1: military podcast simply because I just fed up with veterans
- 30:07Speaker 1: coming on and telling me that they had wonderful childhoods.
- 30:10Speaker 1: And I know that they didn't, but perhaps they don't.
- 30:13Speaker 1: They don't, they haven't got to that stage where they
- 30:16Speaker 1: can acknowledge that, so they're still blowing the I got
- 30:20Speaker 1: PSD in war thing, And of course our charities are
- 30:24Speaker 1: all set up for Oh, PTSD is it's only soldiers
- 30:28Speaker 1: get it and you have to be And what's happening
- 30:30Speaker 1: is all these wonderful people, both civilian and military, that
- 30:34Speaker 1: didn't get PTSD in Afghanistan and sat there going, well,
- 30:37Speaker 1: I can't go and ask for help because I didn't
- 30:40Speaker 1: serve in the minute. People are going to think like
- 30:42Speaker 1: I'm a sissy or so, and what do they do?
- 30:45Speaker 1: They end up taking their own lives because they feel worthless.
- 30:48Speaker 1: And this needs to be challenged. And this is why
- 30:51Speaker 1: I'm sort of kind of, you know a little bit.
- 30:54Speaker 2: More, Chris, And to me, I'm actually dyslexic. I see
- 30:57Speaker 2: things in patterns, and the pattern I saw in pain
- 31:01Speaker 2: was it doesn't matter if it's emotional pain or physical pain.
- 31:04Speaker 2: It'll go for a certain duration or intensity where it
- 31:07Speaker 2: transforms without the person even knowing it into loneliness and isolation.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Now we're social mammals, you know, Chris, if you knew
- 31:14Speaker 2: I had your back one hundred percent, and I knew
- 31:17Speaker 2: you had my back one hundred percent, there's not a
- 31:19Speaker 2: goddamn thing that we can't do. All everything just falls
- 31:22Speaker 2: away when we feel truly connected to our fellow human
- 31:25Speaker 2: And conversely, when we feel alone isolated, no one's got
- 31:30Speaker 2: my back. That's probably the worst human pain I know
- 31:33Speaker 2: and in my experience of suicide, and this is what
- 31:37Speaker 2: made me effective in that suicide prevention space was the
- 31:40Speaker 2: conversation where people don't know the pain emotional, physical, it
- 31:44Speaker 2: doesn't matter veteran or civilian, it doesn't matter. You become
- 31:48Speaker 2: alone and isolated and you're not sleeping, you're fatigued, you're lonely,
- 31:54Speaker 2: you're in pain. You can see you're causing pain to others,
- 31:56Speaker 2: and if you look into the future, you can't see
- 31:59Speaker 2: anything changing. And then suicide comes as Oh wow, I'm
- 32:04Speaker 2: going to do everyone a favor. I'm going to do
- 32:06Speaker 2: you a favor. I'm gonna do myself. I'm gonna end
- 32:08Speaker 2: the pain. I'm gonna end the pain to me, I'm
- 32:09Speaker 2: going to end the pain to you. Is this is
- 32:11Speaker 2: like a revelation. I'm helping people when I do this
- 32:14Speaker 2: and in their in their state of fatigue and loneliness,
- 32:18Speaker 2: they find a way out and simply saying those words
- 32:23Speaker 2: out loud to somebody who's in that situation, they start
- 32:27Speaker 2: opening their jaw and going, fuck, I thought I was
- 32:30Speaker 2: the only one you know. And if you're, if you're
- 32:33Speaker 2: in those dark places, I just want to invite you
- 32:37Speaker 2: to consider the question, how many other people do you
- 32:40Speaker 2: think are in your situation right now, whatever you're up against,
- 32:44Speaker 2: And if you can give that a real number, then
- 32:47Speaker 2: they're now the people looking in authentically encouraging you, because
- 32:51Speaker 2: if you can find a way forward for you, you're
- 32:54Speaker 2: going to find a way forward for them. And it
- 32:56Speaker 2: starts with breaking isolation because only you were qualified to
- 33:00Speaker 2: break their isolation. You know, no amount of mental health
- 33:03Speaker 2: or good psychologists is going to break that personation isolation.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Only you because you can say, you know, I've been
- 33:10Speaker 2: through breast cancer, I've been through you know, the veteran
- 33:13Speaker 2: PTSD space, I've been through whatever it is that you're
- 33:16Speaker 2: up against. Your words can dissolve the rocks around their hearts.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Because unspoken words become like rocks around a person's heart.
- 33:23Speaker 2: It's like they can't feel anymore and as humans, we
- 33:25Speaker 2: want to feel, you know, And I used to drink
- 33:28Speaker 2: all sorts of alcohol just so I could feel I
- 33:30Speaker 2: had these rocks around my heart that I was just
- 33:32Speaker 2: carrying and life was hard. So if I was speaking
- 33:36Speaker 2: very plainly to veterans, you know, you might not think
- 33:39Speaker 2: you're special, but I bet you've been through some shit,
- 33:42Speaker 2: and our job is not to stay in the ship,
- 33:43Speaker 2: but to turn that shit into fertilizer, because the stinkiest
- 33:46Speaker 2: shit makes the best fertilizer that makes everything grow. And
- 33:50Speaker 2: it might take you a week or you know, a
- 33:52Speaker 2: year to turn that shit into fertilizer, but that's the
- 33:54Speaker 2: amount of time you're going to be able to save
- 33:56Speaker 2: all those other people. And once you can contextualize, it's
- 33:59Speaker 2: not what we do that makes us valuable from the
- 34:02Speaker 2: perspective of others. It's what we come through, and it's
- 34:06Speaker 2: often the last thing we want to do, but it's
- 34:08Speaker 2: the thing that makes us most valuable to others. You know.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I thought I'd be happy just drinking lots of alcohol,
- 34:14Speaker 2: taking lots of pills, but I feel I was put
- 34:17Speaker 2: through that so I could then create pathways for others
- 34:21Speaker 2: in the same situation to get through what I got
- 34:23Speaker 2: through in far less time.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Like I said, it starts with the conversation.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Yeah, sorry, I just want to point if you see
- 34:30Speaker 1: me looking over there, I'm not ignoring you. I'm putting
- 34:32Speaker 1: information up on the screen. It's it's yeah, it's a
- 34:37Speaker 1: pet hate of mine, bloody on another screen.
- 34:42Speaker 2: It's annoying. So yes, the communication, Yeah.
- 34:46Speaker 1: I mean absolutely, And it needs to be acknowledged that
- 34:50Speaker 1: we're indoctrinated. I mean you joined quite late, so you
- 34:53Speaker 1: had your kind of mental faculty when you joined up.
- 34:57Speaker 1: A lot of us we joined as teenagers, and we're
- 34:59Speaker 1: in me. You thrown into this incredibly alpha male matcho
- 35:05Speaker 1: team environment with a specific focus in certainly in our
- 35:10Speaker 1: commandos that a training mechanism or technique is to make
- 35:15Speaker 1: you feel that you're the weakest link, which I don't
- 35:18Speaker 1: think is probably not I don't think it's helpful. And
- 35:22Speaker 1: to some people who don't have the you know, the
- 35:26Speaker 1: self governance or the power within them, this I think
- 35:29Speaker 1: it's incredibly damaging because even as adults, I see former
- 35:35Speaker 1: ryal marines like they're still like that, looking at what
- 35:40Speaker 1: they think other people will think of them, and that
- 35:43Speaker 1: can be so powerful to actually make you think you
- 35:47Speaker 1: are worthless. To take your own life, you must have
- 35:50Speaker 1: got to a place where you thought your life was worthless.
- 35:55Speaker 1: And the irony is these guys that we're losing. A
- 35:58Speaker 1: really lovely bloke, you know, the one of the chaps
- 36:02Speaker 1: Lee took himself out the game. He left after a
- 36:07Speaker 1: twenty odd year career, like twenty five years or something.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Super guy used to message me and thank me for
- 36:14Speaker 1: all my charity work and this kind of stuff. He
- 36:17Speaker 1: sent me photos in holding my books and just a
- 36:21Speaker 1: super super bloke. He killed himself the day after he
- 36:24Speaker 1: left service. And he had four four children, Tim, you know,
- 36:28Speaker 1: four children? What was going through his head? Why is
- 36:33Speaker 1: there no planning place that recognizes that if you take
- 36:36Speaker 1: it to someone from a rocky childhood, I mean you
- 36:39Speaker 1: mentioned dyslexia. That's another major red flag, you know, of
- 36:43Speaker 1: the hey, I'm different to the rest kind of thing,
- 36:46Speaker 1: and you put them through this heavy brainwashing that they're
- 36:50Speaker 1: potentially the weakest link and all these other thirty blokes
- 36:53Speaker 1: are going to hate you and probably even get violent
- 36:56Speaker 1: on you. And I witnessed that in my service. And
- 37:00Speaker 1: then when they leave this this protective umbrella, and then
- 37:04Speaker 1: they've been told for twenty years that the color of
- 37:07Speaker 1: their hat makes them really important. In reality, like totally
- 37:12Speaker 1: means nothing to anyone outside of the military except a
- 37:16Speaker 1: few people on the fringe that understand the commitment it
- 37:20Speaker 1: takes to get a green lid or a you know,
- 37:23Speaker 1: a purple lid or a cherry lid or whatever it
- 37:26Speaker 1: might be. And you know that military is acting as
- 37:30Speaker 1: the substitute for the father that was never really there,
- 37:33Speaker 1: or the bullying, you know, the lack of self esteem
- 37:37Speaker 1: from the bullying in school, and then you're expected to
- 37:40Speaker 1: leave it after twenty years and be totally all right.
- 37:43Speaker 1: And then on top of that, you're not feeling that
- 37:46Speaker 1: good in yourself and you're now concern that nobody likes you.
- 37:50Speaker 1: It's there's a lot of work to do here, but
- 37:53Speaker 1: tim that brings us onto the good stuff, because that's
- 37:58Speaker 1: where you and I come. And isn't it in the
- 38:00Speaker 1: that we're doing breath work. Where's my little got my
- 38:04Speaker 1: air fit here? I'd be interested to get your opinion
- 38:08Speaker 1: on the batteries long since run out so that it
- 38:10Speaker 1: won't can act to the app on my phone. But
- 38:13Speaker 1: this is a lung lung capacity trainer, folks, right, not
- 38:17Speaker 1: more for the sort of fitness side of things than
- 38:19Speaker 1: the spiritual, but you still are, you know, inspiring. It's
- 38:24Speaker 1: kind of a bit wim hoffish, you know, to anyone
- 38:28Speaker 1: out there, and we're not talking to veterans, We're talking
- 38:30Speaker 1: to everybody, because I would argue everyone's traumatized. I see
- 38:36Speaker 1: the effect that it has on people. I love the
- 38:39Speaker 1: women very hard as a bloke to know what to
- 38:43Speaker 1: try and give a compliment sometimes because the damage has
- 38:47Speaker 1: been done there through years of the the satanic beauty culture,
- 38:53Speaker 1: where now we no longer recognize people as beautiful for
- 38:56Speaker 1: the way that they are. We've set up this, you know, hideous,
- 39:00Speaker 1: grotesque ideal of what makes you know a beautiful person,
- 39:05Speaker 1: and you see people just buying into that from the
- 39:08Speaker 1: intense media brainwashing to the point where you've got people
- 39:13Speaker 1: there tim you've got girls that literally won't go out
- 39:16Speaker 1: of the house unless they've spent two hours in front
- 39:19Speaker 1: of the mirror. Do you know what I mean? It's
- 39:21Speaker 1: it's and I'm not criticizeding people who want to wear makeup.
- 39:24Speaker 1: That's not the point what I'm saying. The point what
- 39:26Speaker 1: I'm saying is, my God, if you're like, oh, no, no, no,
- 39:29Speaker 1: I can't go out like this. Why are we not
- 39:32Speaker 1: pulling that up by the bloody drawstrings or whatever? You know,
- 39:36Speaker 1: Why is that not being challenged? This is our children,
- 39:39Speaker 1: This is our odd kids that are subjected to this.
- 39:42Speaker 2: You know.
- 39:43Speaker 1: It starts with all the pink shit when they're like
- 39:45Speaker 1: two years old, and then assigning you know, the people,
- 39:49Speaker 1: colors and this sort of thing. Then you've got the blokes,
- 39:52Speaker 1: you know, most blokes, idea and masculine. It is Hollywood,
- 39:55Speaker 1: this insane, insane view that the more people you can
- 40:00Speaker 1: hill in a movie that makes you know that that's
- 40:02Speaker 1: what you should aspire to in life. And then the
- 40:05Speaker 1: bodybuilding stuff and the and the tattoos and the gym
- 40:09Speaker 1: and the and all of this stuff that on the
- 40:12Speaker 1: outside you think it's creating strong men. I'll tell you what,
- 40:16Speaker 1: tim they go and top himself just as quick as
- 40:18Speaker 1: the ones without the muscles and the tattoos, just as damage,
- 40:23Speaker 1: just as searching for that daddy that didn't love them enough.
- 40:25Speaker 1: And yeah, sorry, gone slightly off on one, haven't. I
- 40:30Speaker 1: can't even remember what we're doing a podcast.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Regardless of how you get there, I think the pattern
- 40:35Speaker 2: you're pointing to if I'm hearing you right, Chris, is
- 40:38Speaker 2: that the second you put your sense of self worth
- 40:41Speaker 2: on something outside of you, you automatically become off centered
- 40:46Speaker 2: and a bit of a slave to that. You know,
- 40:48Speaker 2: it doesn't matter if it's beauty, doesn't matter, if it's
- 40:49Speaker 2: a car, doesn't matter, if it's the way the body,
- 40:52Speaker 2: what other people say about your body. We ironically look
- 40:58Speaker 2: for the value that we can give ourselves in others.
- 41:02Speaker 2: And without segueing too harshly, I've found the experience of
- 41:07Speaker 2: breath work done properly can actually give us the sense
- 41:10Speaker 2: of peace, the sense of power, the sense of self
- 41:12Speaker 2: worth that a lot of people are looking for. So
- 41:14Speaker 2: with all my clients, I said, imagine, imagine before you
- 41:18Speaker 2: leave the house. I mean, I'm all about being productive
- 41:20Speaker 2: and doing what you're supposed to do in this world.
- 41:23Speaker 2: But don't think that the car that you're working hard
- 41:25Speaker 2: to get is going to give you your sense of self worth.
- 41:28Speaker 2: What if and nothing wrong with getting a car, but
- 41:30Speaker 2: what if you could give yourself that sense of self worth?
- 41:32Speaker 2: What if you could give yourself that sense of peace
- 41:34Speaker 2: before you left the house from your own resources. And
- 41:37Speaker 2: then you're like, you know what, it's going to be
- 41:39Speaker 2: great to get that car because I want to, not
- 41:41Speaker 2: because I have to, or I'm not feeling something I
- 41:43Speaker 2: don't want to feel.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Absolutely sorry, Tim, I was just I was just getting
- 41:48Speaker 1: up my friend's suicide. Note here so people can see
- 41:51Speaker 1: how real this is. This was Craige. Goodbye to the world, folks.
- 41:56Speaker 1: You can just see it. I can't show you the
- 41:57Speaker 1: rest of it because it's got my f friends list
- 42:00Speaker 1: on Facebook and they probably wouldn't appreciate. Well, I mean
- 42:04Speaker 1: they wouldn't really give a damn to be honest, but
- 42:06Speaker 1: you never know. Look, goodbye beautiful people. So someone who
- 42:10Speaker 1: had it within them to call people beautiful wrote that
- 42:14Speaker 1: as he was taking his own life, it's exactly right.
- 42:20Speaker 1: And I see a lot of people on the right
- 42:23Speaker 1: trajectory and they don't get as far as to what
- 42:26Speaker 1: you just said to him, which is it's not on
- 42:29Speaker 1: the outside. It's on It's not even on the skin,
- 42:32Speaker 1: the earrings, the hairstyle, the mutt. It's making that connection
- 42:38Speaker 1: with the divine and then realizing the divine is you.
- 42:42Speaker 1: And it's quite simple, really, if your God or a
- 42:45Speaker 1: manifestation of God. And I know that is a borring
- 42:49Speaker 1: to people because Christianity and organized religions and controlling doctrination.
- 42:55Speaker 1: It works really really well keeps people in their you know,
- 42:59Speaker 1: material place. But once you realize that you are a
- 43:02Speaker 1: divine manifestation, then you understand that you're that's what That's
- 43:07Speaker 1: hence the term eternal life. You've always been here, you
- 43:12Speaker 1: will always beat be here, not in this body that
- 43:16Speaker 1: people referred to as grits. You know, you you'll transform
- 43:19Speaker 1: your you're your energy. At the end of the day,
- 43:22Speaker 1: you'll become other stuff. And I'm not talking about reincarnation.
- 43:26Speaker 1: I just mean physically, you you know, this building material
- 43:29Speaker 1: called energy will will go on to form other things.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Then you realize, well, if I've always been here and
- 43:36Speaker 1: I'll always be here, I can't worry about anything, and
- 43:38Speaker 1: I certainly can't worry about people who live in the
- 43:41Speaker 1: ego who go round upsetting everyone and up you know,
- 43:45Speaker 1: calling people out and slagging them off on Facebook and
- 43:49Speaker 1: sacking them from That's why if I ever get sat,
- 43:51Speaker 1: I just walk o and laugh. It's it's it all
- 43:55Speaker 1: becomes irrelevant to him, you know. And in instead, you
- 43:58Speaker 1: can learn to love yourself and love the universe and
- 44:01Speaker 1: realize tim is me and I'm just Tim in another body.
- 44:04Speaker 1: You know, we're truly brothers. That's why I wish the
- 44:09Speaker 1: best for Tim, and I know he wishes the best
- 44:11Speaker 1: for me. There's no we'd be deluded if we saw
- 44:15Speaker 1: life in a different way. And so yes, absolutely with
- 44:19Speaker 1: you on that, on that, Tim, it is within. And
- 44:22Speaker 1: you said an interesting thing before the podcast, you said,
- 44:26Speaker 1: inspire from the word in spirit. You know in the
- 44:30Speaker 1: beginning was with Jesus breathed life, Sorry, God breathed life
- 44:37Speaker 1: into the creation.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Well, yeah, technically in Genesis God took clay and breathe
- 44:43Speaker 2: into man's nostrils. And it amazes me how many professional
- 44:47Speaker 2: athletes I'd work with don't know how to breathe. And
- 44:49Speaker 2: it amazes me how so many Christians don't see breath
- 44:53Speaker 2: work as a spiritual practice, because man was created by
- 44:57Speaker 2: breath into from God's breath into men's nostrils. And if
- 45:02Speaker 2: you read the New Testament, how did Jesus give the
- 45:05Speaker 2: Holy Spirit to his disciples? He breathed on them. And
- 45:08Speaker 2: so I've done over fourteen thousand recorded rounds. More than that,
- 45:14Speaker 2: but fourteen thousand recorded rounds of breath work, and I've
- 45:17Speaker 2: not found a height or a depth to the experience
- 45:20Speaker 2: because it's, in my terms, a spiritual experience. And I
- 45:25Speaker 2: agree that we are a physical manifestation of a spiritual form.
- 45:29Speaker 2: And the way I sort of come to it, Chris,
- 45:31Speaker 2: you know, if you say we are God in the
- 45:33Speaker 2: way that a branch is part of the tree, okay.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Or if you have a magnet with a piece of
- 45:38Speaker 2: paper on top, and you've got metal filings on top
- 45:40Speaker 2: of the piece of paper, those metal filings will stack
- 45:43Speaker 2: up to that invisible field, you know, and imagine if
- 45:46Speaker 2: that magnet was sentient and he could make the bits
- 45:50Speaker 2: of metal filing form a different shape. So that's how
- 45:53Speaker 2: I see this body that we've been given, is the
- 45:57Speaker 2: invisible forces creating it. So the it's like that the
- 46:02Speaker 2: metal filings aren't God themselves, but they are in tune
- 46:07Speaker 2: with the God energy. And that's what I believe we're
- 46:10Speaker 2: here to do, and we naturally want to connect to
- 46:14Speaker 2: the God energy. But I believe we hold blockages. And
- 46:19Speaker 2: you know, people call it trauma, people call it whatever.
- 46:22Speaker 2: I call it, a blockage between us and our sovereign state,
- 46:25Speaker 2: between us and our divine state. And what happens when
- 46:27Speaker 2: we're in the divine state there's more love, more joy,
- 46:30Speaker 2: more peace, and we naturally experience those things. We're built
- 46:34Speaker 2: to experience those things. But the form we're in and
- 46:37Speaker 2: the world we live in often we pick up these blockages.
- 46:41Speaker 2: And this is where I think breath work has a
- 46:44Speaker 2: place to give us a chance to feel what life
- 46:47Speaker 2: is like without those blockages for a second, to get
- 46:50Speaker 2: to get ourselves realigned, to create a place that we
- 46:53Speaker 2: want to live from. That tells me that, oh, I'm
- 46:58Speaker 2: feeling there's something in me that's blocking my connection to
- 47:02Speaker 2: the divine. I've got to get back into it. But
- 47:04Speaker 2: so many people, I lived for many years with this
- 47:08Speaker 2: blockage that stopped me feeling more love, more piece, more joy,
- 47:11Speaker 2: and I compensated with lots of alcohol. I compensated with
- 47:14Speaker 2: lots of pills, and I didn't know breath work was
- 47:18Speaker 2: there to give me a chance to reset myself daily,
- 47:22Speaker 2: to live from. I call it the zone of sovereignty,
- 47:26Speaker 2: And I'm very aware now when I step outside of
- 47:30Speaker 2: my zone. Whereas in the past i'd step outside of
- 47:32Speaker 2: my I'd get in there, but then I'd fall out
- 47:34Speaker 2: and wouldn't know it. I just knew I had to
- 47:36Speaker 2: drink a lot at the end of the day.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Yes, the old self medicating is not like us veterans
- 47:40Speaker 1: to take a drink or two, is it? And and
- 47:44Speaker 1: and all the rest. So Tim just want to come
- 47:48Speaker 1: in there. This is the frustration of the podcast. My
- 47:51Speaker 1: podcast is we're literally talking about the greatest stuff people
- 47:56Speaker 1: could ever you know, this is what people should be
- 47:58Speaker 1: talking about in pubs. Not not that people really go
- 48:01Speaker 1: to pubs anymore. The government. The government's destroyed that. And
- 48:07Speaker 1: I get a lot of people like I say, Chris,
- 48:09Speaker 1: when are the veterans when they come to rescue us?
- 48:12Speaker 1: When are the military going to throw down their art
- 48:14Speaker 1: or you know, turn their back on the king and
- 48:16Speaker 1: come and actually fight for the people that they swore.
- 48:20Speaker 1: And my thing is like, what are you doing again?
- 48:23Speaker 1: You're externalizing, aren't you. You're putting it out on you.
- 48:27Speaker 1: You're putting your blind faith guys like doing the lottery
- 48:31Speaker 1: and thinking that that's going to secure your future. It's
- 48:35Speaker 1: it's highly highly highly statistically unlikely. And yet if we're
- 48:40Speaker 1: all this one energy field, what are people doing themselves
- 48:46Speaker 1: now right this minute? That's where you keep seeing me
- 48:49Speaker 1: going every time you remind us of breathing, you know,
- 48:53Speaker 1: because it worked the tree that you talk about. We're
- 48:56Speaker 1: a part of that tree, and that was some you know,
- 48:59Speaker 1: how many people in the freedom movement think they're awake.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Understand when I say that tree, there is literally a part.
- 49:07Speaker 1: I can't function without it. That tree dies, I die. Okay,
- 49:11Speaker 1: you know, en Mass, If the trees die, I can't
- 49:15Speaker 1: survive without them. It's a symbiotic relationship, the geia theory,
- 49:20Speaker 1: the synergy of universities. Everything's connected.
- 49:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and we're as powerful as we are connected. And
- 49:26Speaker 2: that comes with certain awareness. But there's being aware of it,
- 49:29Speaker 2: and there's embodying it truly, wholy and solely. And I
- 49:33Speaker 2: found those individuals. You don't need many of them, but
- 49:35Speaker 2: if they can really embody the divine, it's like they
- 49:38Speaker 2: can compense. They can connect tens of thousands of others
- 49:41Speaker 2: because just like disconnect can be imposed on others, connection
- 49:46Speaker 2: sovereignty is able to flow over from you know, your
- 49:49Speaker 2: energetic space into so many others. You know, Fear is contagious,
- 49:52Speaker 2: as is courage, and we get to choose what state
- 49:55Speaker 2: we occupy. And for me personally, the quickest way I've
- 50:00Speaker 2: found to connect to that spirit is through.
- 50:02Speaker 1: Breath, absolutely right in that moment. And also breath is
- 50:06Speaker 1: a form of breathing is a form of meditation, which
- 50:09Speaker 1: is emptying the mind.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Is it not well to be technical, you could say
- 50:14Speaker 2: breath work is meditation, but meditation classically is thoughts, controlling thoughts,
- 50:19Speaker 2: and that can be really hard when you've got a
- 50:20Speaker 2: bit of a train wreck going on up here. What
- 50:22Speaker 2: breath work is is a chemical override. So it's a
- 50:26Speaker 2: bit like going to the side of the house and
- 50:27Speaker 2: pulling the fuse box out. Because breath is more ancient
- 50:32Speaker 2: than thinking. Before we were thinking, we were breathing.
- 50:35Speaker 1: I think we've got a very different understanding of meditation. Tim.
- 50:39Speaker 1: I hear what you're saying, and I reckon this is
- 50:41Speaker 1: like preached in breath work seminars that that meditation shit
- 50:46Speaker 1: where they are I.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Know, I'm not saying it's shit. I'm just saying I'm
- 50:49Speaker 2: just saying there's certain modalities which attain the same end state,
- 50:55Speaker 2: Like we are looking for that connected mindfulness, feeling one
- 50:58Speaker 2: with the divine, and there are different modalities to get there.
- 51:02Speaker 2: I'm just saying that classically, meditation is a guided thought
- 51:06Speaker 2: process connected to the body. Breath is focusing on the
- 51:11Speaker 2: breath and all of a sudden, the mind and body
- 51:13Speaker 2: just fall into play. So me, I'm probably a little
- 51:18Speaker 2: more expedient in my practice, and maybe because I've had
- 51:21Speaker 2: such good results from breath work, I'm leaning that way.
- 51:24Speaker 2: So I hope, I hope I'm making myself clear. I'm
- 51:26Speaker 2: not pinning breath meditation.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Absolutely, and no you're not. You're not slagging off meditation.
- 51:33Speaker 1: I just wanted to clarify that for me. And in
- 51:36Speaker 1: scripture Jesus said, take no thought. I prayer as an
- 51:41Speaker 1: empty the mind, not not think. If you're thinking, that's
- 51:45Speaker 1: not meditation. It's the complete opposite it. And what you're
- 51:48Speaker 1: trying to do is you're you're focusing your energy on
- 51:52Speaker 1: the pinney, on the petuitary gland, to to to to
- 51:58Speaker 1: send your energy to your your aka, your third eye.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Isn't it your deal in your peturatory ground, they create
- 52:04Speaker 1: a trusts field. And if you put your energy there
- 52:07Speaker 1: rather than squander it in thinking about this and thinking
- 52:11Speaker 1: about that and eating this and stressing, you know, it's
- 52:15Speaker 1: just quiet in the mind. Take no thought, and as
- 52:18Speaker 1: a result, your biochemical mechanism changes and your frequency rises
- 52:25Speaker 1: to connect with what we've been referring to us as
- 52:28Speaker 1: the divine So I just wanted to highlight it's a
- 52:32Speaker 1: very we're talking about a very similar thing. Meditation team
- 52:37Speaker 1: is just so you know, I just say to people, look,
- 52:40Speaker 1: I've got to bring myself back from that because I
- 52:42Speaker 1: could just it's taking.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Yeah I got that, I got that well, you know, but.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Sorry, I didn't mean. I didn't mean a talk covi you.
- 52:50Speaker 1: I just hate it when like everyone's going in the
- 52:53Speaker 1: same direction and there's this kind of like slight misunderstanding
- 52:58Speaker 1: and we're.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Completely to disagree on certain points. You know, we fight
- 53:03Speaker 2: for the right to disagree. You know, if everyone was
- 53:06Speaker 2: like Tim, it to be a very boring world. And
- 53:09Speaker 2: we have to fight for the right to be a
- 53:10Speaker 2: little offensive too, because essentially any expression could be offensive
- 53:13Speaker 2: to somebody, you know, So we can only offer authentically
- 53:18Speaker 2: what we have and know that if it does impact
- 53:22Speaker 2: on someone else, usually it's just a chance for them
- 53:24Speaker 2: to see the imbalance that they have, because we can't
- 53:26Speaker 2: get offended at anybody unless there's something inside of us. Yeah,
- 53:30Speaker 2: you know, So I would love because we've spoken about breath,
- 53:35Speaker 2: we've spoken about sleep, I would love to give your
- 53:39Speaker 2: listeners a real access. So if it works for you.
- 53:43Speaker 2: I'd love to show them how my little party trick,
- 53:46Speaker 2: how in how in three breaths you can completely relax
- 53:50Speaker 2: your body in mind.
- 53:51Speaker 1: Yep, let's do it.
- 53:52Speaker 2: So all I'm going to ask is, if you're going
- 53:54Speaker 2: to do this, make sure you do it in a
- 53:57Speaker 2: safe place. You know, if you've had of any major surgery.
- 54:02Speaker 2: Just go extra gentle on this one. But obviously, breathing
- 54:06Speaker 2: is natural, there's it's and it's to be done in
- 54:09Speaker 2: a relaxed and comfortable place. This breathwork technique is not
- 54:13Speaker 2: to be done like driving or anything like that. And
- 54:16Speaker 2: to get them and this is going to be your breath,
- 54:18Speaker 2: but to get the most from it, you have to
- 54:20Speaker 2: understand that you've been breathing your whole life. So how
- 54:23Speaker 2: many years has that being Chris, that's fifty six for me?
- 54:27Speaker 2: Fifty six years. Okay, you're holding your age very well there.
- 54:29Speaker 2: I'm sure you're here all the time. So for fifty
- 54:31Speaker 2: six years you've had a certain habit of breathing a
- 54:34Speaker 2: certain way. So to do something new, we have to
- 54:37Speaker 2: give permission for our breath to give us a new experience.
- 54:42Speaker 2: So before I, before I do these three breaths, I
- 54:46Speaker 2: just need to ask three questions of yourself and the listeners.
- 54:50Speaker 2: This is all invitation, but it's going to allow you
- 54:54Speaker 2: to get the most from this little three breath experience
- 54:58Speaker 2: that if it works, you're going to be able to
- 55:00Speaker 2: have it in your back pocket for yourself whenever you
- 55:02Speaker 2: need it, as well as for anyone you come across
- 55:05Speaker 2: who needs to reconnect back into their own body and mind.
- 55:09Speaker 2: So the first question really simple. Chris, do you give
- 55:12Speaker 2: permission to your own breath to completely nourish every cell
- 55:17Speaker 2: in your physical body? Yes? I do Awesome, that was easy.
- 55:20Speaker 2: And Chris, do you give permission for your breath to
- 55:24Speaker 2: nourish every part of your conscious thinking mind? Yes? Awesome. Okay,
- 55:28Speaker 2: last question, Chris, do you give permission to your breath
- 55:31Speaker 2: to nourish every part of your unconscious mind?
- 55:35Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 55:35Speaker 2: Awesome. So this is really simple. Simply breathe in and
- 55:39Speaker 2: out nice. Now on this time when we breathe in,
- 55:43Speaker 2: and ideally breathing in and out is with mouth close,
- 55:46Speaker 2: breathing through the nose. I want you to breathe in,
- 55:49Speaker 2: but then breathe in more more, more, more, more more more. Okay.
- 55:53Speaker 2: So we're going to start with an exile, blow it out,
- 55:56Speaker 2: blow it out, blow it out, out, out, out, out out.
- 55:58Speaker 2: You'd be surprised how much you can blow out, and
- 56:00Speaker 2: then start breathing in and then breathe in more more, more, more, more, more,
- 56:05Speaker 2: more more more more, in in in, in in, and
- 56:09Speaker 2: then just hold it and give it a wriggle. Wriggle
- 56:11Speaker 2: your shoulders, wriggle your spine, wriggle your arms, wriggle, wriggle, wriggle,
- 56:15Speaker 2: push it around the place, wriggle, wriggle, wriggle, and then
- 56:19Speaker 2: let out with it. Ah nice, Just let that energy integrate.
- 56:24Speaker 2: This is an active receivership. This is a gift that
- 56:27Speaker 2: was given and we let it into every part of us.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Very good. Now, part of the joy of my job, Chris,
- 56:35Speaker 2: is showing people what their own body, the body that
- 56:39Speaker 2: they've had their whole life, can actually do. And a
- 56:42Speaker 2: lot of people don't actually know that their two fingers
- 56:45Speaker 2: and thumb contain a power button. So on this occasion,
- 56:50Speaker 2: we're going to hit that power button. When we're in
- 56:53Speaker 2: the top ten percent of our inhile, so we're gonna
- 56:56Speaker 2: blow it out just like we did. We're going to
- 56:58Speaker 2: breathe in. And when we're in and that last little
- 57:00Speaker 2: bit of breath, I want you to pinch your fingers
- 57:03Speaker 2: together and look up. Okay, and pinching your fingers together
- 57:07Speaker 2: really hard will activate those inspiration muscles. Okay, So just
- 57:11Speaker 2: two fingers getting ready to pinch. Okay, call them power buttons,
- 57:15Speaker 2: and just exhile, exhal exhile, and as you blow it out,
- 57:19Speaker 2: shake it out, blow it out, shake it out, blow
- 57:21Speaker 2: it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out,
- 57:22Speaker 2: shake it out, shake it out. And when you're all
- 57:24Speaker 2: the way at the bottom, start breathing in. And then
- 57:27Speaker 2: when you're ready, hit those power buttons and look to
- 57:29Speaker 2: the ceiling. Hit the power buttons, look to the ceiling.
- 57:32Speaker 1: Open, open, open, awesome.
- 57:34Speaker 2: Now hold it and just wriggle, wriggle your shoulders, wriggle
- 57:38Speaker 2: your spine, wriggle your hands. Circle, circle, circle, and if
- 57:43Speaker 2: it feels good, let it out with a sigh. Ah nice,
- 57:48Speaker 2: and just let that energy fall through your system, fall
- 57:52Speaker 2: through your body, fall through your mind, fall through your
- 57:55Speaker 2: unconscious mind. Very good. It's amazing how impactful just one
- 58:02Speaker 2: or two breaths can be. So how are you feeling, Chris, yeah,
- 58:06Speaker 2: absolutely wonderful. And we're not even a third of the
- 58:09Speaker 2: way through it. So when we breathed in and then
- 58:12Speaker 2: we breathed in more, you notice there was more air
- 58:15Speaker 2: being filled up in your top third. So we're going
- 58:17Speaker 2: to call that your secondary inhale. Okay, and your power
- 58:22Speaker 2: buttons help with the secondary inhle. So you know, if
- 58:26Speaker 2: you're in a shopping center and you know the line's
- 58:29Speaker 2: taking too long, you're getting a bit frustrated, I will
- 58:32Speaker 2: pinch my power buttons and snort through my nose, fill
- 58:35Speaker 2: it there, regul it around, and just and then that
- 58:39Speaker 2: gets brought back to who I am and where I am.
- 58:41Speaker 2: Because we only get frustrated when we warrant about something
- 58:44Speaker 2: that's outside of us. That little power button brings us
- 58:47Speaker 2: back into the moment. Okay. So that's why I call
- 58:50Speaker 2: the secondary in hale the breath of possibility. When things
- 58:54Speaker 2: feel impossible, I make them possible again by breathing the
- 58:58Speaker 2: breath of possibility because that brings me back to who
- 59:01Speaker 2: I am and where I am. And when you're ready,
- 59:03Speaker 2: I'm going to show you how to juice it up
- 59:05Speaker 2: even more. All right, So everyone's got one of these
- 59:09Speaker 2: noses and behind our noses are sinuses. Now, when I
- 59:13Speaker 2: was a professional fighter, my coach used to say, Tim,
- 59:15Speaker 2: before you do a combination, do a big snort through
- 59:18Speaker 2: your nose, because that sucks air over your sinuses straight
- 59:21Speaker 2: into your brain so you can you can function better. Now,
- 59:25Speaker 2: that might not have been based in science, but it
- 59:28Speaker 2: was very effective in combat. And I'm going to show
- 59:31Speaker 2: you how to access rapid oxygen uptake through your sinuses
- 59:37Speaker 2: as we do what we've just done. So this time,
- 59:40Speaker 2: when we just blow it out with our power buttons ready,
- 59:43Speaker 2: we're going to double the speed of our inhal So
- 59:46Speaker 2: let me give you a little demonstration. So just like before,
- 59:48Speaker 2: we're going to blow it out, blow it out, blow
- 59:49Speaker 2: it out, have our power buttons ready, and then very rapidly,
- 59:53Speaker 2: I'm going to look at the ceiling and breathe in
- 59:55Speaker 2: through my nose, pinching my fingers and I'm really trying
- 59:59Speaker 2: to suck that air over those sinuses to pull it
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: straight through and then hold it and give it a wriggle.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Is that cool? All right? So with your power buttons ready,
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: blow it out, blow it out, blow it out, blow
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: it out, out, out out out, out let yourself. Hunch
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: over head sort of forward. That'll sort of help help
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: empty out your lungs. Head forward, and then when you're ready,
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: hit those power buttons. Point your nose at the ceiling
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: and breathe in rapidly through your nose like you're trying
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: to suck air through the back of your head. Open open, open, open, now,
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: hold it and wriggle wriggle, wriggle, wriggle it, wriggle it,
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: wriggle it. Push out any tension, wriggle, wriggle wriggle those shoulders,
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: push it around the place, and if you feel like
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: there's a sigh inside you just let it out with
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: a ah.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I'll be honest him, I'm too relaxed to make that
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: noise that to make the sigh.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: That's perfectly fine. There's no wrong ways to do it.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: The fact that you're doing it, you're feeling relaxed, it's
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: a plus.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, there's a See, there's so much sort of
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: crossover here. I'm not really like, I'm a what do
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: you call eclectic person? So when people come to Minutes,
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: say Chris, how do I meet? I said, you're already
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: You're you're thinking way too much. You'll look to externalize
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: something and then jump on it as though that's going
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: to save you, And I say, look, but the other
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: thing I do, obviously is breath. Breathing, especially if if
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: you're in a stressful environment. Really that's your go to thing,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: isn't it. And the process you've put me through, tim,
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: I would describe that as the Kunderlini experience, like a
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Kunderlini yoga, which to me is is almost like the
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: ultimate goal of meditation is if you can achieve that
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: state you really Oh.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: You're plugging back into the power, which is this thing here.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: The second we focus out there, it's like we're giving
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: our energy away. But when we do that breath, we
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: plug back into the source of all power. And if
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: if anyone's experienced sort of something taken from us, our
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: natural instinct is I've got to take it back. No,
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: we've got to give it back to ourselves by plugging
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: into something super powerful. Now I've actually only shown you
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: half of this technique. It's about to get a whole
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: lot better if you can believe that.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: I can't wait, can't wait, friends at home, I'm not
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: just putting this on. I can absolutely take It's like
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: it's like someone's giving you a bite of the most golden,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: bloody apple and it just it's emancipating. It's like a
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: feeling you've never felt before that you've got this. This
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: such a beautiful feeling that kind of lingers in the
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: top of your your body, like this magic elixia that
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: you've been filled with. It's it's yeah, this is uh,
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: this is on the money, this one.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: And I really hope it serves you and your listeners
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: because once you've got this, you're going to have this
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: for life, for at least as long as you're breathing. Okay,
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: And if you can master this, you may come across
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: somebody that very quickly you can bring them into balance
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: simply by this particular breath. And I found that that
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: power button interaction helps override intrusive thoughts, brings you back
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: in the moment, helps you access that breath of possibility. Okay,
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: so breath of possibility, I'm going to show you how
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: to move it into the breath of peace. Now. This
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: breath of peace is a super relaxing experience and again
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: needs to be done in a safe place. You can
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: do breath with possibility in the public. This one, you
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: want to be seated, feeling supported, and you know, not
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: in the shower or near any body of water, okay,
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: because this one can create a really deep drift, which
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: is very pleasant, and it's to be let in. But again,
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: just be in a safe space. So we're going to
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: do exactly what we did. We're going to you know,
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: double the speed of the inhal breathe in and hold
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: it up. But then we're going to riggle it. We're
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: going to wriggle it from up to the middle down low, okay,
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: and allay your head to sort of go forward. And
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: I just encourage you right now, just so you can
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: get the feel of it. Put your hands on your
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: belly and push your belly out. So we're going to
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: be pushing our air down low into our belly down low. Okay.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: We're going to trap it there, and then we're just
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: gonna hum for as long as possible, mouth closed, coming
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: out the nose. Okay. The reason why we're doing this
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: and the reason why we should be breathing through our
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: nose more often is nitric oxide is only created through
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: our nose, not our mouth breathing, so breathing through your nose.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: Nitric Oxide benefits the heart, benefits the brain. It's a vasodilator.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: It helps with physical performance, helps with physical recovery, It
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: helped it boosts your immune system, it boosts sexual function.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: So if you went to the chemist and said I
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: want something that helps my heart, my brain and every
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: part of me, you're probably paying hundreds of pounds over there,
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: hundreds of dollars elsewhere. But we can dose this ourselves
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: by breathing through our nose, and when we hum, it
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: uptakes the amount of nitric oxide by two hundred percent.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: So what we gonna do is do that breath of possibility.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Hold it, but we're gonna wriggle it down low, wriggle
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: it down low like it's a balloon sitting down low,
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: and then just hum for as long as possible, and
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: just let that vibration go through your nose. And I'll
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: be here with you as we do it.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Right, So ten, because of my adhd like personality, can
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: you just talk me through that just quite quickly?
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Sure, let me let me demonstrate it just like we did.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: We're going to do the breath of possibility. We're gonna
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: hold our breath and we're just gonna wriggle it down low,
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: wriggle it down low. Wriggle it down low, wriggle it
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: down low, hands on the belly, hands on the belly,
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: push it down low, push it down low, let your
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: head go forward, and then just go and hum for
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: as long as possible through your nose.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Okay, and initially initializing it, we're breathing all the way
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: out first, and power buttons. Breathe in through the nose,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: pushing it.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: To the back of us.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: Sinus is the back of our head.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Hold it and then wriggle, rigg or wriggle breath. When
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: you're at the top of your breath, hold down low,
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: down load, push it down low, con pressure, and then
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: just go and hum for as long as you can
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: through your nose. I'll walk and talk you through it.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: And don't worry. You're doing really well.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: You've got the rest of your life to perfect this.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: Just tell me, I'm tell me, I'm a top student.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: I like that. Go for this.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: So with your power buttons ready, Exhile, exhil, exhil, exile.
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: Blow it out, shake it out, blow it out, shake
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: it out, shake your shoulders, shake it out. As you
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: blow it out, and then when you're ready, hit those
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: power buttons. Look up, wrap it inhusero the nose in
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: in in in in in in in in Now hold it,
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: hold that breath and just wriggle, wriggle the front of you.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Push it from you to your middle chest. Let yourself
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: hunch forward, put your head forward, put your hands on
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: your belly, hands on your belly, hands on your belly,
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: feel it push down low, can push it down low,
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: and then just hum for as long as possible, Hum
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: for as long as possible is. Let your shoulders relax,
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: let your arms relax, let your face relax, let everything relax,
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: and as that airs leave.
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: Your body, just picture your body like an inflatable toy deflating,
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: and just stay where you are.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Let the chair take your weight. Just sit in your chair.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: Let the muscles touching the chair relax. Let yourself feel
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: supported by the chair. The chair was built to hold you,
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: It will hold you. Let yourself feel supported. So often
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: in our tension, we don't allow ourselves to feel supported.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: It's like our own tension is our own way of
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: giving ourselves a hug and making ourselves feel supported, But
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: it doesn't work like that. Only when we let go
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: and let ourselves feel held, feel supported, that we get
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: that support and so allow that energy just to circulate.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: You've given it permission to nourish every cell in your body,
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: every selling your mind, your unconscious mind. And then when
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: you're ready, Chris, because I feel like you're ready for this,
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: we're going to do two more of those and just
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: let it happen. This is there's no force in this.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: This is just you going through that process, taking your
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: time and letting yourself go deeper into it, letting yourself
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: get higher into it. So that was just one. We're
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: going to do that two more times. Cool cool, Okay,
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: So blow it out, shake it out, blow it out,
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: shake it out, blow it out, shake it out. Have
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: your power buttons ready, have your power buttons ready. And
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: when you're all the way out, out, out, out out,
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: double your speedy, your inhu looking up up up up
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: up up up up in in now hold it and
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: just wriggle it down, wriggle it down, wriggle it down
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: to the middle, wriggle it down, wriggle it down, hands
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: on your belly, hands on your belly, and then sort
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: of hunch forward, put your head towards your knees, head
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: towards your knees, and then just hum for as long
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: as you can. Let vibration go through your sinuses, go
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: through your system, feel like your body is a deflating toy,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: and alloy yourself to feel the depth of the experience.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: This is a gift. We just need to receive it.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: You're doing so good, and then your body will do
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: it for you. But when you're ready, start with the
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: exhal a little bit of tension on the inhal so
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: you can really snort it down and then feel into
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: the last breath. This is your third one. Good good
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: good good good good good Up up up, up, up,
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Hold itrigle, wriggle, wriggle it down to the middle, wriggle
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: it down low. Push it into your belly button. Feel
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: like you're pushing it lower than it's been Beforehands on
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: your belly, hands on your belly, push it down low,
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: Let your head go forward, let your head fall forward,
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: and then when you're compressing that air, let it out
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: with that mmmmm. Yeah, this is a good one, and
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: just let the chair hold you. Feel supported by the chair.
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: It was built to hold you, it will hold you.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Let the muscles touching the chair relax and feel how
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: wonderful it is to feel supported, to feel held. This
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: is the wonderful connection to our own divine nature. And
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: if all we had to do was take three breaths
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: to reconnect back to the divine how often would we
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: be focusing on our breath? And don't rush this. Experience
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: what you're feeling right now, Chris. A lot of people
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: have traveled continents to find taken all sorts of substances
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: to have what you have right now. And acknowledge yourself
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: for letting this in. This could well be your first
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: proper breath in fifty plus years, So acknowledge yourself for
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: taking this new thing on and anyone listening, I invite
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: you to give it a name that you can own me.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: I call it the breath of Peace and possibility. If
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: you want to call it something that you want to
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: call it so you can own it and use it
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: yourself whenever you need it. And if you are watching
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: this on video, you'll see that Chris has embodied the
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: practice of breathwork. Really well well done, buddy, Thank you.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: I think we'll call it on this channel we'll call
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: it the Legends breath. Yes, I'm just marveling at the
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: You know, when I talk to my audience about meditation,
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: that's what I'm describing. And it's added a string to
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: my bow because I always talk about meditation and prayer,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: and of course there's a third part to that, which
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: is you've open my eyes. Is the breathing. Of course
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: the inspiration. So yes, that's a lovely triumvirate. And it's
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: it's self care, tim isn't it. It's completely self care.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: It costs you nothing.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Yeah, you can take everything out the office and sit
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: in your car five minutes, ten minutes, boom. It's like
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: in the video games when you go and recharge your
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: power pack or whatever the kids do these days. Absolutely amazing.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: I'm still just really.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: Yeah, don't don't rush it, just let it, let it
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: work through your system. There's so many levels that you've
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: just been accessed right now, and for anyone listening, I
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: really encourage you to get this as a muscle memory.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Practice it when you don't feel like you need it,
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: So when you really need it, like if something's bothering you, boom,
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: You've you've got your your whatever you want to call it,
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: You've got your piece, You've got your possibility when you
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: need it. So when I'm walking down the street, I've
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: always got my power buttons ready, because what I'd do
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: in the past was something would upset me, I'd just
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: wear it and then I wouldn't know that I needed
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: a drink more that night. So this is what I'm
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: saying here, Chris. This is the zone of sovereignty, as
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: I call it. This keeps you in the zone that
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: you want to be and you know the emotional range,
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: your piece, your power, and this to me is how
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: we can we can really love those around us.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: And alternative well, I mean it's the only alternative to
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: drugs and alcohol, isn't it. Maybe people take drugs and
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: alcol to feel this feeling and it's there for you.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: And the irony is, if you keep up the drugs
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: and the alcohol, you're not going to be able to
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: experience this to its full extent because you're you're masking.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: You know, you're putting a blocker, a blocker between you
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: and spirit and spirit. Is you so kind of blocking
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: yourself from yourself? That's amazing, Tim, this has been a
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: phenomenal chat. I'm going to take myself off for a swim.
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: Now and feel fantastic.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: You feel really great about life. Thank you so much,
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: and let's just run through. I've got your links up here,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: so we've got breath work in Bed. Is your Instagram? Yep,
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: there's a link below. Friends, I always try and follow
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: the instagrams and we go that like actually add to
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: my life and make me feel good about me. I
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: don't follow Instagram because I want to feel good about
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: how someone you know for the wrong reasons, is what
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I'm saying. So that's my tip for the top. Folks,
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: there's breath.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: I'd love to you go sorry, I'll cut you off.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: No, I just say there's your breath Working bed Facebook.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: Folks must be so much nicer doing this stuff in
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Brisbane than it is in ray and rainy southwest of England.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: There's your TikTok. You can get hold of Tim on LinkedIn,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: folks if you want to book Tim for a seminar
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: or coaching or to explore potential avenues together. And yes,
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: amazing you were going to say something mate.
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: Oh no, I just love to gift everybody twenty eight
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: days free use of the Breathworking Bed app. So you know,
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: imagine if you just had something falling out of your
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: phone just before sleep, and then when you're waking up,
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: breath work. That's what that's what the breath, that's what
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: my product that I'm wanting to give people for twenty
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: eight days. You tell it. When you want to sleep,
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: it'll guide you turn your bed into a cloud. But
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: then when you get up in the morning, breath work
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: to turn into a trampoline, and your day occurs really
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: differently when you start your day connected to your breath,
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: connected to your power, connected to your spirit. Well, let's
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: just I'll give you those links as well.
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: Yeah, you sent them to me in your email response,
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: so I'll put them below the video.
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: What I want to ask beginning of the day is important.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: As a content creator, you're always tied to where is it?
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: Huh? He says.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: He says, he's tied to his phone and my phone's
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: not here. Look at that? How wonderful am I focus?
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: What a massive legend? No, it's on charge in the
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: other room. But what I just want to explore, and
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I think a lot of people will get help from this.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: I would like nothing better than to start my day
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: with my usual routine, get up, make the bed, open
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: a curtain, say thank you to the universe for having
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: me here. And then you get out and you know,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: I smash my gym, or I go for a run
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: or swim, and then a sauna. I do make sure
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: to do some breath work. If I haven't run, which
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: kind of is like my breath work, I make sure
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: to actually do some breathing. And it's a great way
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: and it sets you up. And I'm probably listened to
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: sometimes a spiritual podcast in the or something about a
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: scriptural decode in the sauna. Good good, good stuff. What
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: happens is sometimes I get caught up if I check
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: my phone, which is kind of hard. When you're content provider.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: You want to check that your content's hitting home and
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: it's getting you to that target that you probably made
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: five years ago that you still haven't bloody reached or whatever.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: It might be a very powerful attraction there, you know,
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: like a tractor beam sort of thing. And or I
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: do this wonderful morning routine and then I sit down
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: on this thing and I go to check something on
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: the internet. The next thing I know, like my time's on.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: I've spent an hour and a half because that led
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: me to this. I wouldn't say none of it's relevant
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: because I talk about stuff on my channel TIN. But
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: what I am saying is it's I know there's a
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: cutoff point when that has to stop and I actually
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: have to do some work because I got a lot
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: of work to do. I got my audio books. I
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: need to get them done. It's been I've been procrastinated
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: about five years now, probably eight seven years, if I
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: was honest, and what how do you manage that? As
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: somebody that clearly puts out content and puts out programs?
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: How do you manage the whole internet, social media? Scrolling
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: on the phone thing?
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: So it's a very wise idea to connect to yourself
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: first and not throw your energy away to the universe
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: first thing in the morning, because the second you look
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: at that phone, you're giving your connecting to something outside
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: of yourself, not to this moment. Okay, It's very similar
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: to when you know the matrix, when they put that
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: cord in the back of the head and they disappear
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: into the matrix. It's basically you disconnect your body from
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: your eyes. You're just feeding this dope meat into your eyes. Now,
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: I say that ironically, because one thing that I noticed
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: that is if I have a preset breath work track
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: that I can listen to in the mornings that I
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: just go tap on my phone and then I can
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: connect into my breath before my feet have hit the floor.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: That is super powerful. So I try and use technology
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: to connect me into the highest tech part of me,
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: which is my lungs. So anyone who wants to take
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: me up on that twenty eight day free trial, you'll
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: get a notification in the morning that you can tap
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: while you're still in bed. You'll reconnect to your breath
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: and there's a few bonus things in there that I'll
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: let you discover. But if you can win the first
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: five minutes of the day, you've won the day. And
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: if I was to give someone a supercharge habit to have,
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: try and be in a position where eyes can see
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: the sun rising without any glass between you and the
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: first frequency of light, Because when that first frequency of
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: light comes over the horizon, it goes into the part
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: of our brain I think it's called the super charismatic nucleus,
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: and that gets all your circadian rhythms in sync. It
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: reduces the tiredness and sleep chemicals in your system and
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: it sets up this cascade of reactions automatically. I believe
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: we're light receptive creatures. So when if you can see
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: that first light through your eyeballs, take some deep breaths
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: when that happens, get some sun on your actual skin.
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: That is one of the most powerful habits, and it's free.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: I'm quite well known. The only way I can see
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: the sun rises on my roof. So every morning, and
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: in Australia right now, the sun's getting up at four
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: thirty am. Every morning, I'm up there getting those first
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: rays of light, doing my breath work and getting that
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: sun on my skin.
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: It's so beautiful in Australia in the mornings. I know
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: it gets quite hot in the afternoon, but that first
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: part of the day it just makes you want to
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: grab your board and run down to the beach or something,
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: you know, go for a go for a padle or whatever.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: It might be amazing. Yes, okay, so we're all going
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: to bear that in mind. Don't reach for the phone.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: Connect to yourself first, connect to your divinity, do some breathing,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: and yes, there we go. The answers are all there,
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: aren't they. They're all there now, and no one's going
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: to do it for you.
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: It's up to us. If we expect someone else to
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: do it for us, it only costs us money and
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: we give up our power. So you know, I still
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: listen to my breath work tracks. I still hit that
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: notification and as much as I sometimes because I live
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: with chronic pain. I was in the army carrying you
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: call them Bergen's for probably too long and I got
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: off all my and I'm hesitant to say this, but
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: breath work is also anti inflammatory and it drops pain
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: scales as well, so presence of oxygen, absence of disease.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Even if you're a type of person to get to
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: sleep well, it's a good idea to put to alcoholize
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: your system before it does its deep clean at nighttime.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: So yeah, highly recommend breath work going to sleep and
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: waking up and the rest of your day will kind
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: of take care of itself.
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: Brilliant advice, Tim, Thank you so friends. Just before we
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: say goodbye to Tim, can I give a shout out
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: please to our upcoming Arctic Legends expedition. I myself and
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: my team of former Rule Marines commandos. They are Roger
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: and John who some of you will have met now
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: because you're coming with us. We're going to head up
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: to the Arctic Circle the first week of March. There
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: we go. Tim's got the globe and Laurel there. That's
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: the cap badge of the Rual Marines folks, or the
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: crest for those uninitiated. We're going to go up to
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: the Arctic Circle. We're going to teach you skiing and survival,
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: and then we're going to have a few days skiing
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: from cabin to cabin in the wilderness, living by candle
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: or head torch light, stacking up the fire and watching
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: the northern lights, which is absolutely worth going on this
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: trip in itself. If you fancy that, please to send
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: me a send me an email, or send me a message.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: This year it's boys. Next year we're going to do
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: unisex girls, et cetera, et cetera. So send me a
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: message anyway and I'll put your name down on the list.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: It's the same price, folks, as a cheap skiing holiday.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: Let me put it that way. You know, we're out
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: just to give you the best experience ever. Bit of
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: mail bonding. Let's get over our traumas. Let's remember what
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: life's about let's get in the nature, un let's uh,
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: you know, let's celebrate friendship. So that's that you heard
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: me mention my my every summit in May. There we go.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: If you can spare me a five of folks to
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: help me shiner light for struggling veterans just like I was,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: just like Tim was, and make that all important link
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: that nobody is making between the adverse childhood experiences and
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: adult mental health, or in the veterans community case, the
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: sad situation we had with military suicide. We've got to
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: start talking about this, folks. You know, I've got to
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: start tracking back what's behind this trauma. So there we go.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: There's a link below. Spung us a fiver. If you
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: can bung us more, you'll be a legend for life. Tim,
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: stay on the line so I can thank you properly.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: I'm just going to play us out with a few
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: bits and pieces, but thank you for what you've done
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: for my life in the minimum. Secondly, thank you for
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: what you've done doing for everybody out there. And a
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: final thank you for coming on the show. We're definitely
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: going to definitely going to get you back on because
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: I think this is an area that we all need
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: to chase or we need to uncover. I should say, friends,

- 1:24:31Speaker 1: the nonsense going on out there. We're not stupid. We
