- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn French with Fexingo, episode 154. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Last time we worked on torso parts. I think I need a refresher. Lucas: No problem. We'll go over them again slowly. Let's start with le torse. Luna: Le torse. That's the chest area, right? Lucas: Exactly. The torso. Next, le ventre. The belly. Luna: Le ventre. I have to remember that one. Lucas: Then le dos. The back. Luna: Le dos. Like your spine side. Lucas: Right. And la poitrine. The chest, but more specifically the breast area. Luna: La poitrine. That's a new one for me. Lucas: Finally, les épaules. The shoulders. Luna: Les épaules. I love that word. It sounds fancy. Lucas: It does. Okay, let's do a quick drill. I say a part in English, you say it in French. Ready? Luna: Ready. Lucas: The torso. Luna: Le torse. Lucas: The belly. Luna: Le ventre. Lucas: The back. Luna: Le dos. Lucas: The chest. Luna: La poitrine. Lucas: The shoulders. Luna: Les épaules. Lucas: Perfect. You know, these words come up a lot when describing pain or doing sports. Luna: Right. Like 'j'ai mal au dos' – I have a backache. Lucas: Exactly. Or 'j'ai mal à la poitrine' – chest pain. Luna: Oof, that's a serious one. I hope I never have to say that. Lucas: Me too. But it's good to know. And speaking of things that help, I want to mention something quickly. Luna: Sure, what's that? Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make progress with French, a handful of listeners chip in monthly through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. That's what keeps this show ad-free and going. Luna: Yeah, it's a small group, but it really helps. So thank you to those who do. Lucas: Okay, back to the body. Let's practice a sentence: 'Je me suis blessé au dos.' I hurt my back. Luna: Je me suis blessé au dos. What about shoulders? 'Je me suis blessé à l'épaule'? Lucas: Yes, but careful: 'à l'épaule' because épaule is feminine. But if you hurt both shoulders, it's 'aux épaules'. Luna: So 'Je me suis blessé aux épaules'. Lucas: Perfect. Let's try one more: 'J'ai mal au ventre.' I have a stomach ache. Luna: J'ai mal au ventre. That one I'll remember because of overeating. Lucas: Right. Okay, let's review all five one more time. I'll say the French, you repeat. Luna: Sounds good. Lucas: Le torse. Luna: Le torse. Lucas: Le ventre. Luna: Le ventre. Lucas: Le dos. Luna: Le dos. Lucas: La poitrine. Luna: La poitrine. Lucas: Les épaules. Luna: Les épaules. Lucas: Wonderful. Now you can use these at the doctor or talking about workouts. Luna: Definitely. And I feel more confident with the torso words now. Lucas: That's the goal. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time on Fexingo. Luna: Bye for now!
