Transcript
- 0:00Hello there, control your insolence and concentrate.
- 0:05It's time for most things. Kenobi.
- 0:21Hi everyone. Welcome to another episode of
- 0:23Most Things Kenobi, a podcast about Obi Wan Kenobi and all
- 0:27things Star Wars. I'm your host, Lauren.
- 0:29And I'm your host Leanne. And this week we're doing a bit
- 0:33of a crossover. We are going to talk about all
- 0:36the times Indiana Jones appears in Star Wars and Star Wars
- 0:39appears in Indiana Jones. I can't believe the list now.
- 0:43I had to look up a list. I did too.
- 0:45I I don't. I knew like two things off the
- 0:48top of my head. This list is online.
- 0:50We're not coming up with any of this on our own, at least other
- 0:54than the two that we can we can name.
- 0:56But. Yeah.
- 0:58It's fun. It's super fun.
- 0:59Everyone is aware that there are always some kind of rumor of a
- 1:03crossover or oh, this was acknowledged in the even in The
- 1:07Clone Wars, they do like little nods too.
- 1:10And I think it's cute because Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones,
- 1:15the the music. Who's the guy?
- 1:16Oh, John Williams, Yeah. John Williams.
- 1:19Honestly, this isn't on this list.
- 1:20But every now and then, whenever I watch Indiana Jones, there is
- 1:23like a little thing the music does that always sounds like
- 1:27Leia's theme. Oh God, that theme makes me cry
- 1:30every time me. Too, and I've really tuned into
- 1:34it. So when it starts to go, I
- 1:36always expect it to be Leia's theme.
- 1:38And then it's it's not 'cause it's Indiana Jones.
- 1:40But I kind of wonder if John Williams did that on purpose.
- 1:43But who knows? Who knows, Maybe he just dreams
- 1:46in his own music and it's all mixed up in his head.
- 1:49So this list, I think is what, 20 things?
- 1:52And we got it off Screen Rant. So like you said, we can't take
- 1:55credit for it. But if you don't want to read
- 1:57the full article, we will summarize it for you here.
- 2:01That's it. And I am actually surprised by
- 2:04some of these that I have seen all of the Indiana Jones except
- 2:07for like the latest latest one. I have seen all of them except
- 2:12the 2nd to last one, the one that had Cate Blanchett.
- 2:15I didn't ever saw that one, but I did see the most recent one.
- 2:19Did you like it? Yes and no.
- 2:24Your face, Your face. I didn't see it, so I can't even
- 2:29comment. I liked it because it was much
- 2:31more like the Indiana Jones we know, but it was also just kind
- 2:35of like one car chase after another, and it was very long.
- 2:38So they could have probably removed a car chase and I would
- 2:42have stayed interested a little longer.
- 2:43But in general, it had that lovely Indiana Jones charm to
- 2:46it. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:48And they are charming. But I don't remember a lot of
- 2:52these. I can't believe I haven't
- 2:53noticed some of these. Well, and I I love that they do
- 2:58this on purpose. It's all very purposeful.
- 3:01It makes sense to because George Lucas and Spielberg were on
- 3:05vacation, I believe, in Hawaii together when they came up with
- 3:08the idea of Indiana Jones. And of course, Star Wars was the
- 3:12other thing going on. Spielberg did do Jurassic Park.
- 3:16Oh yeah. I wanted to make sure, Yeah,
- 3:18Which is filmed in Hawaii on multiple locations, which some
- 3:23of them going to and I can't wait, it'll be good, Yeah.
- 3:25I've honestly there's probably more crossover stuff with
- 3:28Jurassic Park too. I feel like because there was
- 3:31some article I think I I scrolled over here that
- 3:33mentioned Jurassic Park as well so.
- 3:36Well, just imagine the amount of brain and creativity power in a
- 3:40room of Spielberg and Lucas. Oh my.
- 3:44God, I have to dive for cover. One is wearing Costco sneakers,
- 3:52the other a pressed button down. Yeah, they both have aviator
- 3:57sunglasses and giant poofy hair, so at least back in the 70s.
- 4:02Fucking love it anyway. We hail thee, both of them.
- 4:08And I'm I'm here for all of these crossovers.
- 4:12So if you recognize any of these as we're going through, shout
- 4:16out. You're like, Oh yeah, I know
- 4:17that one. And then let us know 'cause
- 4:20that'll be our that'll be our listener comment.
- 4:22Yeah, 'cause if we miss any. Also, if there's some that we
- 4:25don't know of that aren't on this list, you'll have to tell
- 4:28us those too. All right.
- 4:29Do you want to kick it off? I'll kick it off.
- 4:32The first one is the and I did not know this one.
- 4:36Me either. The opening scene of Raiders of
- 4:38the Lost Ark. Indiana Jones is fleeing in the
- 4:41airplane. It's a little float plane on the
- 4:44back, it says. OB Dash CPO.
- 4:48A nod to both OB One and C3PO. Now come on.
- 4:53I've seen this movie how many times never ever noticed it.
- 4:57Exactly how is it right there and I'm not seeing the obvious
- 5:02like. Wow, I love that scene because
- 5:09that's the I Hate Snakes scene and I relate to that 100.
- 5:13Percent Oh my God, I completely, 100% relate to this.
- 5:19I can't with snakes. I honestly.
- 5:22I can't either. So if Indiana Jones can't, then
- 5:24it's OK that we can't. I mean, it's probably why we
- 5:28didn't notice the OBCPO on the plane, because we were like,
- 5:32exactly. Fuck snakes, man.
- 5:34You know? And there's a lot of action and
- 5:38stuff. And you know, she's going on, I
- 5:40guess. I guess it's like the PLO Koon,
- 5:43the emblem on the side of the gunship in Clone Wars.
- 5:47Is it PLO Koons? It's like PLO's Bros.
- 5:50Yes, it is. Yeah.
- 5:52I mean, I that's a little harder to see than this seaplane
- 5:56writing, but you know, it's there.
- 5:57You have to pause it and then translate the Airbus, yeah,
- 6:02yeah. OK, by the way, shout out to
- 6:06rural farm boy. Oh yeah.
- 6:08He had a screenshot of our podcast playing on his computer
- 6:13and it was in Arabesh. Like everything was in Arabesh.
- 6:16And I was like, wow, this man is not only a beast, but he's got
- 6:21us up there. He's and he's got it in Arabesh.
- 6:26That is comical. I know, man.
- 6:30So this next one I've heard of, but I never saw it myself.
- 6:34It's the hieroglyphics of R2D2 and C3PO, and I guess that's in
- 6:39Raiders of the Lost Ark. When Indy and Salah are carrying
- 6:43the ark, you can kind of see it in the background.
- 6:45There's all these Egyptian, I think they're Egyptian, right?
- 6:47Hieroglyphics. Yeah, yeah, I think.
- 6:50R2 and 3PO are right there in the middle.
- 6:53Now I knew about this one, and I paused specifically to see this
- 6:59because I had heard about it. I heard about another one that I
- 7:02paused to see, but I did see this one and it's very clear so.
- 7:06Okay, yeah. Yeah.
- 7:07It's never. I mean, you gotta pause.
- 7:10It's like. That's the thing that's so funny
- 7:12is they they put this in the background, barely noticeable,
- 7:17and you have to really be looking for it to see it.
- 7:20Yeah. Which just goes to show how much
- 7:22they are thinking about it and having fun with it.
- 7:25Right? Because most people are going to
- 7:27miss it. Yeah, it's the having fun
- 7:29because I don't know, it's it's these little things.
- 7:32If I we're putting together a work of art, such as these kinds
- 7:37of movies that stand the test of time, I would have a little fun
- 7:41with it. Who wouldn't want a little
- 7:43inside joke or an inside like nudge, nudge, nudge, you know?
- 7:47Well, and of course, all of this then makes people wonder, you
- 7:51know, is there a connection between the universes?
- 7:54Of course, it could just be them having fun as film makers, but
- 7:58is there possibility that Indiana Jones is in the same
- 8:02Galaxy as Han Solo? Why not?
- 8:07Why not? Exactly.
- 8:10There's two of them. Shit.
- 8:17OK, next one's pretty pretty obvious.
- 8:21This is in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, just before the
- 8:25activation of the Akator Akator. I don't know.
- 8:31I haven't seen this is the one. I've never seen this one.
- 8:34Yeah, same Indy, says the famous line.
- 8:38A bad feeling about this, which is, you know, I've got a bad
- 8:41feeling about this, which I'm pretty positive Han Solo has
- 8:45uttered. Oh yeah.
- 8:47I can't remember if he's the one who said it.
- 8:49No, he probably isn't the one who said it first, but he
- 8:50definitely does say it, Yeah. He does say it, so I nod to
- 8:54himself as a different character in a different timeline, Galaxy,
- 8:59etcetera. Plus, apparently it's like right
- 9:02before a spaceship A. Spaceship shows up, yeah.
- 9:06How appropriate. That's nice.
- 9:09Who the hell knew Indiana Jones and aliens would one day cross
- 9:13paths? But yeah, there's a there's a
- 9:17reason I haven't seen this one. Yeah, I don't.
- 9:22I well, Shia Labeouf's in it and I'm not like the biggest fan.
- 9:27Yeah, just not a fan whatsoever. No, not knocking him.
- 9:32I just, he wasn't, I wasn't watching movies when he came
- 9:36into the scene, right. And so I like totally missed
- 9:40growing up with him or or being introduced to him And so he's
- 9:44just like a guy I know is in movies, period.
- 9:47So. No real connection or tie there.
- 9:51Yeah. No.
- 9:52So, no, nothing, nothing against him.
- 9:53I just, you know, whatever. Yeah, I have a bad feeling about
- 9:58him being in these movies. Sorry, sorry.
- 10:03The joke was there. I had to take it.
- 10:07This next one was really, really obvious.
- 10:09Obvious. I even noticed this as a kid.
- 10:12Yeah, this was the one I I know. Yeah, most people know this one.
- 10:15It's from Temple of Doom. The club at the beginning is
- 10:18Club Obi Wan. It's really no.
- 10:23Here's where I need to enter into this because I want to know
- 10:29what club Obi wan's about. Is he wearing a Hawaiian shirt
- 10:32like The Lego Movie? Does he sing on stage?
- 10:37Is he is he telling people in his in his club that they can
- 10:42have death sticks or are they still outlawed?
- 10:45I was thinking how appropriate it is because Obi Wan is one of
- 10:48the few Jedi we've seen take a shot.
- 10:51He's he's the exact reason I think they have a club.
- 10:56Obi Wan because he's the most straight buttoned up like and
- 10:59he's the one who takes he. He's like I don't even know how
- 11:02to describe it. He's over here being the perfect
- 11:05Jedi, who's the perfect everything with perfect Terran,
- 11:08perfect morals and he's taking shots and death sticks and he's
- 11:11and he's in a Hawaiian shirt and and the whole thing, it's.
- 11:16Just on stage. Yes he does.
- 11:19And he like ad libs and shit, so I don't know if there's a club
- 11:23Obi want, I want in. How much is the cover charge?
- 11:25Let me know. Yeah, I will never leave.
- 11:27I will pay and never leave. You cannot kick me out.
- 11:30I feel like it's a club that Ventress would would frequent.
- 11:34Yes, I. Feel like she would be allowed
- 11:37in this club. I I agree.
- 11:39She's always sitting in the back drinking her.
- 11:42Yes, booze of choice. Yeah, and she gets it for free.
- 11:47I know in the movie In Temple of Doom, I think it's even
- 11:50Spielberg's wife. Is the woman singing on stage.
- 11:53I could be wrong. I haven't watched this movie for
- 11:56a while, but I would much prefer it if it was Obi Wan singing on
- 12:00stage. It is club Obi Wan after all.
- 12:03It is at this point we're going to have to get him in there.
- 12:08Yeah, I mean, at this point, when this was made, it was still
- 12:10Alec Guinness was Obi Wan. Ewan McGregor was not.
- 12:13So people might not have preferred it.
- 12:16Alec Guinness? Who?
- 12:17I. Think that'd be hilarious?
- 12:20On stage, he would pop up and, like, pull his hood up like,
- 12:25hello, patrons, enjoy yourselves tonight.
- 12:28Oh my God, I have no recollection of this Droid over
- 12:31here serving drinks. Right, right.
- 12:35Don't remember ever owning A Droid liar?
- 12:39'Cause you're drunk, I'll be wanting your own club.
- 12:42Go home, Obi Ron, you're drunk. Too many death sticks?
- 12:45Or that. Burn the memory.
- 12:49It's also seen at the very end of Disneyland's Indiana Jones
- 12:52ride. Oh, is it?
- 12:53Have you ever been on that ride? Here's the thing.
- 12:57I'm pretty sure it was broken when we were there recently.
- 13:00So we were not on it. Or was it?
- 13:04No, we were on. We were.
- 13:05We rode the mummy ride. Indiana Jones, I believe was
- 13:09broken, 'cause these things are always broken, like periodically
- 13:12broken throughout the day. So I wouldn't know.
- 13:16I would remember this, but we did not ride.
- 13:18It sounds like the ride had too many death sticks also.
- 13:22So. That was bad.
- 13:24Yeah, that was real bad. I love it.
- 13:26No, I love it. Wait, now there's another club
- 13:31mirroring Club Obi Wan in the Temple of Doom.
- 13:35Star Wars The Bad Batch Season 2 features a nightclub that Clone
- 13:39Force 99 has to shoot their way out of, much like Indiana Jones.
- 13:44Even better, the name of the club when translated from the
- 13:47Star Wars alphabet, AKA Orbesh, is Club Lau Che.
- 13:52Yes, and I guess I forgot to mention that club Obi Wan is
- 13:55owned by Lauche in Temple. Of there you go.
- 13:58That's why. There you go.
- 14:00Makes sense, yeah. Well, I haven't seen Season 2 of
- 14:03Bad Batch. I know.
- 14:04Don't come for me. Cancel me if you want, but don't
- 14:07come for me. Haven't seen it yet.
- 14:09It's on the list. So I was unaware of this.
- 14:13That's very fun. I like that.
- 14:14I mean, I love that even in current Star Wars, there's still
- 14:17sliding the Indiana Jones references and.
- 14:20Yeah, aren't we going to have an and OR reference at some point
- 14:24too? Oh, a couple.
- 14:25There's actually at least two, if not three.
- 14:28Yeah. OK, 'cause I recognize those,
- 14:31but we'll get to those. I'm I'm getting ahead of myself.
- 14:34Well, this one we've already talked about, we actually talked
- 14:36about in our last two episodes, last episode the the staff of
- 14:42Raw. If you haven't listened to our
- 14:44recent episode, we talked about Dooku Captured and the Gungan
- 14:47General and Senator Karas who is bringing the ransom to get
- 14:54Dooku. He carries the staff and it is
- 14:57the staff of RAW, basically missing the Red Ruby or Gem,
- 15:02whatever that is. But otherwise it's pretty much
- 15:04identical. And that's the staff of RAW from
- 15:06Raiders of the Lost Ark. That's essentially what spawned
- 15:10us to do this episode. We were talking about it, and
- 15:12we're like, oh, how many crossovers are there?
- 15:14Yeah. 'Cause that one I knew about
- 15:16cause Dave Filoni mentioned it. I didn't even notice it when I
- 15:20was watching. I I have, I have Clone Wars on
- 15:22DVD. That's how long ago I bought
- 15:26them. I don't even know if they come
- 15:27out on DVD nowadays, but there's all this special features.
- 15:31And Filoni was talking about the staff of RAW and I was like,
- 15:34that is fucking cool. And again, love that they do
- 15:38that. Well this next one I have seen
- 15:42but didn't realize it because anyone who's been to Galaxy's
- 15:46Edge, this is this is a nod to that it's Indy's Ark Covenant
- 15:52which is all over the Star Wars Galaxy including Clone Wars
- 15:57Episode Liberty on Ryloth which is one of it's of excellent
- 16:01excellent episode. The version of the Ark is in the
- 16:03background of Wattambor as he attempts to leave the planet.
- 16:07The Ark is also on Batu, the corner of which can be spotted
- 16:11within Doc Ondor's Den of Antiquities, which is where you
- 16:14buy the lightsabers, so I've been in there 100 times.
- 16:19So is this picture that they have in the article?
- 16:21Is that from Galaxy's Edge? It is, yes.
- 16:24So like Doc Ondor, he's he's one of those things with the curved
- 16:28heads. What are those things?
- 16:31If Thorian or something like that.
- 16:33Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:34Yeah. So he's one of those, and he's
- 16:37like busy. He's an animatronic and he's
- 16:39back there like fiddling with his antiques and he's got all
- 16:43kinds of stuff and cool things and artifacts and things behind
- 16:46him. And then Indy's stuff is back
- 16:49there too. Oh, that's so cool.
- 16:51It's kind of cute. Likewise, mysterious Box, Han
- 16:53Solo and Chewbacca could never open on their cargo hauler in
- 16:56The Force Awakens carries the ID tag 9906753, which is the same
- 17:03number given to the Ark of the Covenant in Raiders at the
- 17:05movie's end, which is such an obscure thing.
- 17:08Yeah, I think it that's because it's being closed in like a
- 17:11shipping crate in Raiders of the Lost Ark, right?
- 17:13And that crate has it on there, man.
- 17:16You would really have to be deep in Indiana Jones lore to spot
- 17:21that and know what you're seeing right away.
- 17:23I barely remember Han and Chuy's box that they can't open.
- 17:29Yeah, I don't remember that. At all.
- 17:31I've seen the movie several times and I don't remember that.
- 17:35And it's like, oh, you really got to be looking Who's keeping
- 17:38track of all this besides us? And Screen Rant.
- 17:42Well, Harrison Ford surely does give no fucks at all, but. 0.
- 17:47But zero? OK, so if that means Han Solo
- 17:50has the Ark of the Covenant from Indiana Jones on his ship.
- 17:55I know it's like you could say it's something else, but like
- 17:58that seems pretty obvious that maybe obvious that maybe I'm
- 18:04still using like I'm not sure language.
- 18:07Yeah, the. The the universes are connected
- 18:09somehow. I can see it.
- 18:11I know they're just they're just referencing.
- 18:13I know, but it's still fun to think about, right?
- 18:16But still, the Galaxy is a very large place.
- 18:19There's It could be out in the Unknown Regions.
- 18:23Yeah, well, especially since it showed the Ark of the Covenant
- 18:26showed up in Ryloth. I didn't.
- 18:29I I have no memory seeing that at all when I watched Nope the
- 18:33show. Nope.
- 18:34And we've we've seen these episodes more times than we can
- 18:37count. Yeah, and we miss these things.
- 18:40You know why? Because we're staring at Anakin
- 18:42and Obi Wan this. Is true, so rewinding over and
- 18:44over to make sure we see all the angles.
- 18:47Yeah. I mean, you could say we're
- 18:50focused. It's.
- 18:51Just not something else. That's it.
- 18:55So this next one I I never noticed this at all, and
- 18:58probably because I also never saw the Kingdom of the Crystal
- 19:01Skull or whatever it was called. Yeah, Indies Crystal Skull shows
- 19:06up in season three of the Clone Wars in Wookie Hunt.
- 19:10That's the episode where Ahsoka gets taken by Trendo
- 19:13Transdocians. I can barely say that.
- 19:16And like they hunt her like the most dangerous game.
- 19:20Kids show, right? Exactly.
- 19:22Good Lord, so in one of their, I think it's like they're hunting
- 19:26a lodge. The Crystal Skull is up on on a
- 19:29shelf and something that I've heard Filoni say.
- 19:33There's also a Wookiee pelt hanging on the wall there.
- 19:38That lodge is so icky. That is, I hate that.
- 19:44Yeah, it's really awful. Like these are the details that
- 19:48the Clode where's people put it and it's like, who the fuck said
- 19:51that was OK? I don't know, but I kind of
- 19:55respect it, even though it's terrible.
- 19:58Like they thought, you know what, throw it in.
- 20:01Yeah, why not? Just get ruthless.
- 20:05Apparently the crystal skull can be seen right next to the helmet
- 20:08of A Mandalorian from Knights of the Old Republic as well.
- 20:11Yeah, I I also never that's a game right?
- 20:14And I. Never saw that.
- 20:15I've never. Yeah, but I've Nope.
- 20:18And a Mandalorian, like, if you look at it, it looks more like a
- 20:22Knight of the Republic helmet. Isn't there like a temple guard
- 20:26or something like that from that game?
- 20:28Yeah, I don't. Know, I don't know.
- 20:30All these little details. Now this one, this one, this one
- 20:34I love. Indiana Jones, famous fedora,
- 20:38was almost worn by CAD Bane, and this is in season four of The
- 20:44Clone Wars. Obi Wan Kenobi's undercover
- 20:46mission posing as a mercenary alongside CAD Bane.
- 20:50Of course, the bounty hunter is in need of a new hat, a
- 20:54signature style Bane apparently can't go without.
- 20:57As such, CAD Bane almost chooses a hat looking exactly like
- 21:01Indiana's classic fedora. He kind of passes over it, kind
- 21:06of looks at it, considers it passes over, it moves on.
- 21:09And it's like, hello over here, Indiana Jones's hat, which I
- 21:13think is great because it's like, how did he lose his
- 21:16favorite hat? This is all in the same Galaxy.
- 21:19I'm with you, girl. I know, I know, the, like.
- 21:22Indiana Jones hat will just blow off his head and reappear later
- 21:27right in front of him. Yeah, it's like a magic hat.
- 21:30He can't. Wasn't there a James Bond
- 21:34character that would throw his top hat in, like slice people's
- 21:37heads? Odd job.
- 21:38That's it. OK, so Indiana Jones does not
- 21:41use his fucking hat but to kill people.
- 21:45But he must have it to. It's like his trusty companion,
- 21:49you know. It's his comfort blanket or
- 21:52like. It is.
- 21:54I don't know why I compared that to a killing assassin in James
- 21:58Bond, but there you go. Hat.
- 21:59I just remember the dude. Yeah, hats.
- 22:02Funky hats in things from the 70s and 80s.
- 22:05Famous hats and movies. Yay.
- 22:09Our new podcast. OK, this one I I noticed this on
- 22:16my own so size noodles our girl. Our girl.
- 22:21What's up, psy? She sings anything goes, kind
- 22:26of. She sings like an alien version
- 22:28of it. It's in Clone Wars.
- 22:30It's in one of my favorite episodes ever, which I can't
- 22:33remember the name of it now because I'm blanking.
- 22:36It's it's the one where Obi Wan has to go to the the dudes.
- 22:41Hunt for 0. Yeah, because it's his.
- 22:44Mother. Yes, Hunt for 0.
- 22:46And yeah, and they and what's his name?
- 22:48Busting the door. Yes, I can't.
- 22:51Remember, somebody lives here. Quinlan.
- 22:54Oh my God, my brain. Just Quinn stopped working for a
- 22:57minute. So at the beginning of Temple of
- 23:01Doom, Winnie Scott, is that the character's name or the
- 23:04actress's name? I don't know.
- 23:06Sings, anything goes. And then in this episode of
- 23:09Clone Wars, Psy sings something that is similar, but it's alien.
- 23:14And some of the phrasing is like inverted a little bit.
- 23:17But yeah, it's definitely a reference to Temple of Doom,
- 23:22which I did notice that. That's one thing.
- 23:25I did not. I can't.
- 23:28I'm focusing on way too much when Size Noodles is on the
- 23:32screen. That I probably can tell you
- 23:35right now. I don't.
- 23:36I'm not paying attention to whatever garbly goop is coming
- 23:38out of her mouth. So God bless her, but like,
- 23:42she's just too sassy for me. Too much sass in one little
- 23:46package. What can I say?
- 23:48This one I'm not familiar with at all, so I'm going to have to
- 23:52read it. The quote Look what you did by
- 23:55AZI 3 and Henry Jones Senior during the season six episode of
- 24:00the Clone Wars titled The Fugitive 5 starts to uncover the
- 24:04dark truth about himself. It hurts.
- 24:06It hurts. And his fellow clones regarding
- 24:09Order 66 refusing to have his memory wiped 5 knocks a camp a
- 24:14coming someone from Camino. I can't say Cam, Camino, Yoan,
- 24:23someone from Camino, a scientist, and a handful of
- 24:26security guards unconscious. This causes the Droid AZI 3 to
- 24:30remark, Look what you did. I can't believe what you did
- 24:33before. Fives pulls him away in need of
- 24:35his help. The scene is a reference to The
- 24:38Last Crusade, which I fucking love.
- 24:40Me too. When Indy knocks out several
- 24:42Nazi guards and his exclaiming father says the exact same
- 24:46thing, that is Sean Connery. I am here for it.
- 24:48It's my favorite Indiana Jones movie.
- 24:50Mine too, of course. And I can't can't believe I
- 24:55don't know this. I didn't like.
- 24:58I know that Henry Jones says that, but I did not remember AZI
- 25:013 saying it at all. No, because I'll.
- 25:04I'll tell you why. There's too much sadness
- 25:07happening. I was going to need to notice.
- 25:11There's a lot going on here. I never noticed because I could
- 25:14only bring myself to watch that episode one time.
- 25:17Correct. That's it's one of those.
- 25:20That's it. That's it.
- 25:21It's a hard one to watch, but I like that they put it in.
- 25:26It's great that it's coming from a Droid because they can be as
- 25:30ornery as a father at times, you know?
- 25:33Yes, I love the Last Crusade. I love.
- 25:36Oh my God, I love it too. They're dynamic, father and son.
- 25:40It's so entertaining and never fails to make me laugh.
- 25:43It and it's executed so perfectly.
- 25:46They play well together. I think there's a respect for
- 25:50the actors there because, I mean, Sean Connery's a fucking
- 25:53legend. I mean, Speaking of James Bond,
- 25:54I just didn't see that coming. But exactly.
- 25:57And then, like, Hans, Han Solo, Harrison Ford, excuse me, these
- 26:02two actors are like Generation One, Generation two of greatness
- 26:07and the fact that they're together in a film, iconic film.
- 26:12And Sean Connery's kind of a he's kind of a little goofy.
- 26:15He's a little, yes, he's kind of like a little off kilter.
- 26:18He's a little. He's like the opposite of James
- 26:20Bond. Yes, I love that.
- 26:22And I. Love it.
- 26:23Love it. I appreciate that whole film for
- 26:27so many reasons. I love it.
- 26:28And the love that India has for his dad too.
- 26:30Yes, the affection and the respect.
- 26:33I don't know. I just love the movie.
- 26:34And I love Sean Connery. I do too.
- 26:38I I think it's nice because it takes Indiana and shows you that
- 26:42he's not just a suave, cool guy. It's like there's a real
- 26:45relationship there. And that's I really loved seeing
- 26:50it, honestly. And even like when his father
- 26:53slaps him. Oh, yeah.
- 26:55Yeah. Yes, I.
- 26:56Loved that too, because you see that this guy who can whip a
- 27:00bunch of Nazis, his dad will not tolerate blasphemy.
- 27:04Like, yes. It's so fun.
- 27:07It's fantastic and it's believable because of these two
- 27:11actors putting on a hell of a show, Honestly.
- 27:15God, it makes me want to go back and watch it.
- 27:16Maybe I'll rewatch it. I haven't seen it for a really
- 27:19long time. I know I haven't either.
- 27:21I think we did an Indiana Jones rewatch years ago.
- 27:25We watched all three in a row, but that was a long time ago.
- 27:29And honestly, I could watch The Last Crusade on its own, over
- 27:32and over. And never.
- 27:33Gets sick for sure. So, Star Wars Rebels.
- 27:37Orinda Price. Forgive me, Governor Price is
- 27:40how I know of. Governor Price, Yeah.
- 27:42Resembles Crystal Skulls Arena Spalco.
- 27:45That's pretty obvious when you see the pictures side by side.
- 27:49Cate Blanchett's character really looks like this character
- 27:52from Rebels, but they've never said it was a direct nod, right?
- 27:56They they've never said if it was a coincidence.
- 27:59Or not. Well, it's.
- 28:01I mean, come on, look at them, you know, right, right down to
- 28:04the uniform. I mean, the hair is on point.
- 28:07Yeah, it's pretty. She's like that.
- 28:09Velma. Kelly.
- 28:10Blunt, Bob. Yes, yes.
- 28:14They even wear the same color suit, so.
- 28:18Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, the uniform is very
- 28:20similar. I don't know.
- 28:21It's it's got to be. I mean, come on.
- 28:24It seems like a non. But can't.
- 28:27Cate Blanchett is also basically in Star Wars as the unofficial
- 28:33person who plays fucking. What's her name?
- 28:36God. Oh, Satine.
- 28:37Satine. Thank you.
- 28:39She's basically Satine as well. Everyone's adopted her as like,
- 28:43the face of Satine in live action, even though it doesn't
- 28:46exist. But.
- 28:47Do you think she knows that she's Satine crazy?
- 28:50Absolutely, yes. Oh, absolutely, absolutely.
- 28:56I listen if she hasn't been told.
- 28:59Someone should tell her soon if she doesn't.
- 29:01Please I didn't know that Arena Spalko in Kingdom of the Crystal
- 29:08Skull is Ukrainian. I didn't know that either, and I
- 29:13wonder how accurate that Ukrainian quote, UN quote,
- 29:16Ukrainian accent is, or if it's just the generic.
- 29:18I would have to hear it. I know there's so many people
- 29:21just use the generic Russian, right?
- 29:24It's not the same. My my partner is Ukrainian and
- 29:29he speaks Russian. So.
- 29:31Yeah, they had to, usually. There is a difference, though.
- 29:34I would like to hear it. I I guess we're going to have to
- 29:36watch all these Lauren. I mean, damn, I.
- 29:38Don't want to watch that one, but I.
- 29:41Want you to keep blanchett's in it.
- 29:44I changed my tune. I saw the first, I don't know,
- 29:4710 minutes of it. And there's some nuclear bomb
- 29:49that goes off in Indiana. Jones hides from it in a
- 29:52refrigerator. And that's the minute they lost
- 29:55my attention, honestly. OK, well, now that.
- 29:58OK, I'm back. I'm back out again.
- 29:59Sorry, Kate. I'm going to have to.
- 30:01Sorry. I'll wait for you as Satine, the
- 30:05next one again. The Holy Grail makes an
- 30:07appearance, this time in Grand Admiral Thrawn's office.
- 30:12This is not a surprise. We see it in Rebels.
- 30:15He has a collection of items because as we know, Thrawn
- 30:19studies his enemies and their art and their culture and their
- 30:23behaviors. Scary, freaky, crazy man that he
- 30:26is. And of course, there it is in
- 30:28the background, the Holy Grail itself on a pedestal.
- 30:32It makes so much sense that it would be in Thrawn's position.
- 30:36Not surprised at all. Kind of scares me of what he
- 30:39wants with it. There was so much silence there
- 30:46as we pondered. I know.
- 30:48I'm thinking it's like the ability to grant you eternal
- 30:53life, right? But you can't take it out of the
- 30:55temple with. That hold up?
- 30:57Nope, Nope, he doesn't have it as of Ahsoka because he had to
- 31:01use duct tape. So that shit is wrong.
- 31:04He didn't use it on his own troops.
- 31:06He's. Keeping it for himself.
- 31:09Everyone else gets duct tape. That that I would.
- 31:11I can accept, yeah. He's waiting for the right.
- 31:13Moment. Yeah, All right.
- 31:15This one I love. Yes, this is the one I was
- 31:17thinking of. Yeah, so this is from Andor,
- 31:21Indiana. Jones's whip is encased in
- 31:24carbonite in Lutheran's shop, which I think is so freaking
- 31:29cool. And it's a great nod because it
- 31:31it's both a reference to Indiana Jones, obviously, but then also
- 31:34Han Solo, who was frozen in carbonite himself.
- 31:37So that's a great double reference there.
- 31:39I love it. I love that one.
- 31:41Yeah, very much. That's great.
- 31:43And the next one is the Raiders of the Lost Ark's fertility idol
- 31:46in both Andor and Solo. So the the movie Solo, which
- 31:52that's obviously a tie in right there.
- 31:54Right. Because you know, young Han
- 31:57Solo, young Harrison Ford. Why?
- 32:00My brain is not functioning just behind the whip.
- 32:04And Lutheran's shop is also the Fertility Idol, so that's
- 32:07obviously the relic that Indiana Jones failed to retrieve at the
- 32:10beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
- 32:11So that's an Andor. And it's also in Solo, A Star
- 32:15Wars Story in the office of Crimson Dawn's Dryden Voss.
- 32:19As a result, perhaps Dryden ordered the idol from Lutheran.
- 32:23That's a curious thing. So what?
- 32:25When I read this, my alarms went off.
- 32:29Well, Klaxon Alert went off in my brain because remember, we
- 32:34wondered if they were going to make Crimson Dawn part of Andor
- 32:37because there was that symbol. The little symbols.
- 32:41So this would be that tie in and they had also referenced that
- 32:45Andor was released from prison to the planet.
- 32:48We can never pronounce that. We always say Jim Beam.
- 32:51Yes, Jim Beam. Jim Beam.
- 32:55Jabim. Jabim.
- 32:57Which is also where Solo is, I believe at the beginning, or at
- 33:00least whenever he's enlisted by the Empire.
- 33:03So they're they're like making ties between Solo and Andor,
- 33:07which is not my favorite thing in the world, but we'll see how
- 33:10it plays out. But yeah, I don't know.
- 33:12That seemed like a a more obvious reference right there
- 33:15that somehow Lutheran is connected to Dryden Voss.
- 33:18Well, they we never quite got it with those symbols, even though
- 33:22we had theorized and people had theorized and yeah, there were
- 33:26rumors and stuff. So maybe, maybe.
- 33:27We'll see. We'll see.
- 33:28Yeah, Season 2 someday. So this other one I I love this
- 33:32one too. And this is when I did notice.
- 33:35So also an Andor in Lutheran shop because Lutheran has
- 33:38everything. He is like the Thrawn, but less
- 33:44scary. He's just as a collector, yeah.
- 33:48In Lutheran's shop you can see behind him on like a top shelf
- 33:53he has like a Jedi and a Sith holocron.
- 33:55And then next to it, shoved like into the shelf, are the Sankara
- 34:01stones from the Temple of Doom, which I don't remember what they
- 34:05do in Temple of Doom. I remember they have to be
- 34:07placed in that statue. Yeah.
- 34:10And I don't. I don't remember what exactly
- 34:13they do, Like either the temple falls down or it gets powerful.
- 34:16I don't remember Temple of Doom is when I don't watch that
- 34:21often. I like that they're just up
- 34:23there like pieces of a toolbox that he just didn't have the
- 34:26time to put away, so he just shoved them.
- 34:29Stuffed in a shelf, like kind of pushed them back as far as
- 34:32possible. It makes me wonder why they're
- 34:35not out in the front room. He must not know what they are,
- 34:39or he or he does, that he's keeping them.
- 34:41I love it. Yeah, I just.
- 34:43I love it. It's so great.
- 34:44They look really cool, too. They actually look like they're
- 34:47made of glass. The next one is also from The
- 34:49Last Crusade, but I have lot, I have not seen bad batch season 2
- 34:53as I said. So it's the phrase let it go.
- 34:56And that's when Indiana Jones well, Henry Jones senior is
- 35:03holding on to Junior and the Holy Grail which lies just out
- 35:07of reach. And the father is telling Indy
- 35:10let just let it go. Don't, don't let it consume you.
- 35:14Let the thing go. That sort of thing proves he
- 35:17loves Indy more than the object, which is kind of like a greater.
- 35:20Theme of you know. Possessions and and love and
- 35:24things. And then this scene is
- 35:25replicated in The Bad Batch Season 2, when a pack full of
- 35:29treasure lies just out of reach, and Echo similarly tells Omega
- 35:33that she also has to let it go, proving that she is more
- 35:36important than the items. Yeah, that was a great scene.
- 35:39So like older wiser figure telling younger figure, let the
- 35:45I like that it's good. It's good symbolism for life.
- 35:48It is. You're focusing on the wrong
- 35:51thing. And I love.
- 35:52I love that moment in Indiana Jones, too, because I know the
- 35:56the Holy Grail has been Henry's whole life and at the end he
- 36:00says his son is more important. That was.
- 36:03I love it. I know.
- 36:05And it's believable. Again, because these two are
- 36:07masters at their craft and just Spielberg.
- 36:12Period. So.
- 36:14So this next one is kind of AI guess it's an obvious one but
- 36:19Doctor Afra is the anti Indiana Jones.
- 36:23Is she OK? Afra is from the comic book so I
- 36:26don't know not everyone is going to have read all of them but and
- 36:30I honestly I gave up. Guess it was it was just too
- 36:33much. She is kind of similar in
- 36:36personality to Indiana Jones, kind of cracking one liners and
- 36:41kind of flippant and always able to get out of a jam.
- 36:44But she's she's definitely more self interested and isn't so
- 36:48altruistic as Indiana Jones, but.
- 36:50She collects things. She does.
- 36:53She works for Vader for a little bit.
- 36:55Yeah, I know that it people are going to think I'm crazy, but I
- 37:02won't read the AFRA stuff because I'm jealous of her.
- 37:09I said it. I admitted it.
- 37:10I'm jealous of a fictional character who gets to work for
- 37:13Vader and she's a cool fucking tattoo or whatever those things
- 37:16are on her. Arms.
- 37:17Yeah, they're like, oh God, what are they called?
- 37:21Like on motherboards. Yes, a motherboard.
- 37:22Yeah, like transistors and motherboard and.
- 37:25I think that's a cool tattoo. I've seen a person with them.
- 37:28For real, I think it would be great.
- 37:30I would love it. It's so cool.
- 37:33Honestly though, I lost interest after a while.
- 37:35I liked it. What was she?
- 37:36Was she in Screaming Citadel with Luke?
- 37:39Oh shit. And I liked that.
- 37:41But also, yes, that was one of the the comic books where it's
- 37:45like, I really liked the artwork and the story was just kind of
- 37:49like, did I miss something here? Is there a chapter missing?
- 37:54I don't know. So that's kind of where I
- 37:56started to give up on the comic books, because they started to
- 37:59just. Not there's so many, there's so
- 38:01many. And they're just not as good.
- 38:02I have all the Vader ones that you gave me.
- 38:05I don't she she's not in any of them.
- 38:06I don't. Think I don't think she's in any
- 38:08of those. Yeah, she's in like the later
- 38:10Vader stuff. I read like two of them.
- 38:12I got pissed at Palpatine for being so mean to him.
- 38:16God, I am so weird. I I'm way too invested.
- 38:21What the fuck? Moving on, all right, If
- 38:27anyone's ever been to Disneyland and rode or have ridden the Star
- 38:31Tour rides, I've ridden the ones in Disney World, not the one in
- 38:35Disneyland. But the Star Tours ride lists
- 38:39Earth as a refueling stop on the way to the forest moon of Endor.
- 38:44As such, this is what we've been talking about.
- 38:47This technically means that Indiana Jones would be cannon in
- 38:51the Star Wars universe. However, seeing as Star Wars
- 38:55took place in quote a long time ago, Galaxy's Edge and Batu
- 39:00which are in Disney World and Disneyland are considered Canon
- 39:03to Star Wars and the timelines might be a little crazy.
- 39:07But I say if if Earth is mentioned, anything goes.
- 39:12Yeah. Is Star Tours considered Canon?
- 39:15It's essentially you're just like in a canister that bumps
- 39:18around. It's not really like a roller
- 39:19coaster or anything. And it's a screen and you have
- 39:21like, I don't know if you have the 3D glasses or not, you
- 39:24might, but it's a different show quote, UN quote every time you
- 39:28go in there. And like you can go in twice or
- 39:30three times and see three different versions.
- 39:32And I haven't done it enough to say.
- 39:35That's crazy. I mean it's just, it's just a
- 39:37little like for anyone. It's not, if anything, you get
- 39:41motion sickness from like the bumping back and forth, but
- 39:44you're literally in like a little like you're in a thing
- 39:47that moves back and forth. Back when rides were not rides.
- 39:51Yeah, I mean, it's essentially just like, it's weird.
- 39:54So anyway, Earth is present, so you know, anything goes almost.
- 39:59See what I can. Do anything goes?
- 40:02Yes. All right.
- 40:04This this is the final one. And this one honestly blew my
- 40:09fucking mind. And after reading this I was
- 40:11like. I'm sorry, what?
- 40:14Well, let's have it. Let's end on the highest note.
- 40:17Into the great unknown, which I've never heard of.
- 40:21It's the ultimate Star Wars and Indiana Jones crossover.
- 40:24A what if type story from Dark Horse Star Wars Tales #19.
- 40:30The short story Into the Great Unknown is still one of the best
- 40:34Indiana Jones and Star Wars crossovers of all time according
- 40:37to this article. Chased by the Empire and forced
- 40:41to do a blind jump into hyperspace, Han and Chewie crash
- 40:45land on Earth and are attacked by a tribe of Native Americans.
- 40:49Han is killed and over a century later, Indiana Jones and Short
- 40:56Round find the quote somehow familiar remains of the
- 40:59Millennium Falcon and Solos skeleton.
- 41:04All the while, Chewbacca watches from the trees above, having
- 41:08become the basis for the myth of the Sasquatch.
- 41:13Oh my God, what the fuck dude? I don't know, but I love.
- 41:20I'm never going to look at Sasquatch Shit.
- 41:22The same after this now that from this moment on, it's
- 41:26fucking chewy wandering around because Han died on earth from a
- 41:31blind hyperspace jump. This.
- 41:33What the fuck is this? It's.
- 41:35So fucking crazy and. What?
- 41:37There are two of them. Han and Indiana are there's two
- 41:41of them. Yeah.
- 41:42So it's not like one or the other, like they exist together
- 41:46on this. That is timeline, yeah.
- 41:48Wild into the great unknown. I'll be down.
- 41:52Man, the Dark Horse comics were so much more fun 'cause.
- 41:56They're better, way better than Marvel.
- 41:58No offense. Crazy fucking shit happens in
- 42:02them. They like approved storylines
- 42:04that Disney would never approve. Now I'm gonna have to track this
- 42:08down, but also, I don't want to see Han die.
- 42:10That's weird. Well, no.
- 42:12And poor Chewy. Just wandering the forest,
- 42:14hiding in trees, looking at people.
- 42:16That's sad, He. Has a wife and child.
- 42:21I'm sorry, what? Then the Christmas special.
- 42:25Doesn't Chewy have a wife and kid?
- 42:26Oh, I don't know. I can't make it through that
- 42:29thing. Either, but I'm pretty sure he
- 42:31has a family and now he's trapped here on Earth as the
- 42:35Sasquatch and can't get home to his family.
- 42:38This is too much. You know what's funny?
- 42:41In my workplace I have AI have a poster.
- 42:46It's Sasquatch sitting on a side of a river.
- 42:49Now you need to put a bandolier on it and say it's.
- 42:52No shit. And it says believe in yourself,
- 42:55even if no one else will. And listen folks, we believe
- 43:01that Indiana Jones and Star Wars exist in the same universe.
- 43:05So they're 6° from Sasquatch to Indiana Jones to Star Wars.
- 43:19All right, that's the the list, the extensive list.
- 43:23Did we miss any? Let us know if there are some
- 43:26references to Indiana Jones or vice versa, some references of
- 43:29Star Wars in Indiana Jones that we missed.
- 43:32If we didn't miss any, tell us which one is your favorite.
- 43:34Which one did you? Did you notice any on your own
- 43:37without help? Seriously.
- 43:40If you did. Good eyes.
- 43:44So just tell us your thoughts and we will share them on next
- 43:46week's episode. And next week's episode, we're
- 43:50talking about filming locations. Lauren and I are going to pick
- 43:54two, at least two different filming locations.
- 43:57So we'll have four separate filming locations from Star
- 44:00Wars, any of the Star Wars media movies, etcetera.
- 44:04And we're going to get into where they filmed, how they
- 44:07filmed there, why it's unique, etcetera.
- 44:09So join us back here. We're doing film stuff next
- 44:12week. And last week, we forgot what we
- 44:17talked about all of a sudden. We laughed our way through Dooku
- 44:20being tied up to Obi Wan and Anakin.
- 44:22That's what we did last. Week.
- 44:26That's right. Last week we discussed the gung
- 44:28in general. We asked the question though,
- 44:30what was your favorite moment from the whole arc?
- 44:33From the whole arc, all two episodes was one of the shortest
- 44:36arcs ever. But we got some feedback we
- 44:39heard from our friend Ben, he said.
- 44:42I think my favorite part of the arc is either the master of
- 44:45getting caught scene or the part where Obi Wan and Anakin deny
- 44:49that they were in trouble. Both the Ahsoka and the Jar Jar
- 44:52which is very obvious on character on brand for both of
- 44:55them. Totally checks out.
- 44:57Yes, and our friend Z wrote in and said the control your
- 45:02insolence scene is my favorite and everything.
- 45:05Hondo says Obi Wan, Anakin Dooku and Hondo is the comedic quartet
- 45:10I didn't know I needed. Love it.
