The Purple Line is finally hitting a major milestone: live-wire testing is underway overnight between Lyttonsville and Bethesda, with trains running on energized power lines to ensure safety and performance before riders board. Over two and a half miles of track are being rigorously tested from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., evaluating brakes, signals, acceleration, and communication systems across all 28 trains.
