- 0:05Speaker 1: Gary Phillips is here and back with us on FT
- 0:08Speaker 1: to talk a little Yanks. Gary, We appreciate the time
- 0:10Speaker 1: as always, it's good to see you. Let's get right
- 0:14Speaker 1: into it with the Yanks because there's a lot of
- 0:15Speaker 1: action going on, and of course you can catch you know,
- 0:17Speaker 1: anything from Gary to in the New York Daily News
- 0:21Speaker 1: and check out your social media platforms as well. Gary,
- 0:25Speaker 1: let's start with trade talk Yanks. What do you see
- 0:30Speaker 1: them talking about over the next few weeks that'll pop up.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yeah, So the Yankees are looking for bullpen help. They
- 0:38Speaker 2: are looking for a right handed hitting catcher.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Now.
- 0:40Speaker 2: I know there's some talk about, oh, could they add
- 0:42Speaker 2: to the rotation, could they maybe even upgrade at shortstop?
- 0:46Speaker 2: With Anthony Volpi and Jose Cabalero kind of alternating at
- 0:50Speaker 2: that position. Right now, I see their top priorities as
- 0:53Speaker 2: the bullpen and a righty hitting catcher. Now, the catcher
- 0:56Speaker 2: issue goes back to even last year when on how
- 1:00Speaker 2: they were using Ben Rice and whether J. C. Scar
- 1:02Speaker 2: was up on the major league roster. They've had two
- 1:05Speaker 2: to three left handed hitting catchers on the roster for
- 1:09Speaker 2: two years now, and the problem is none of their
- 1:12Speaker 2: lefties are hitting Rice is not part of that equation anymore,
- 1:15Speaker 2: or at least not at the moment. He's obviously hitting
- 1:17Speaker 2: pretty well but not doing any catching work since he
- 1:21Speaker 2: had the palm injury a couple of weeks ago. So
- 1:24Speaker 2: they're going to want to bring in a righty somebody
- 1:26Speaker 2: who could at the very least platoon. Right now, they
- 1:29Speaker 2: have Ali Sanchez up from the miners, but he's not
- 1:31Speaker 2: a guy that has a lot of track record of
- 1:34Speaker 2: success in the big leagues. So I would expect them
- 1:38Speaker 2: to look at somebody like Ryan Jeffers if he comes
- 1:40Speaker 2: back from Minnesota and is healthy. I know Adlie Rutchan's
- 1:43Speaker 2: name has been floated around there as well. I'm not
- 1:46Speaker 2: sure I see him necessarily as a guy who's as
- 1:49Speaker 2: likely to be traded after that. There's not a ton
- 1:52Speaker 2: of good right handed hitting catchers out there. You know,
- 1:54Speaker 2: they might be looking at more of a backup or
- 1:57Speaker 2: a platoon type player, somebody like Houston's christ and Vasquez,
- 2:00Speaker 2: So be on the lookout for that, Be on the
- 2:02Speaker 2: lookout for bullpen help. You know, they've got a couple
- 2:04Speaker 2: internal options, notably Carlos Lagreney, who you know they're gonna
- 2:08Speaker 2: probably try to test out at the major league level
- 2:11Speaker 2: in the bullpen first before the trade deadline. See if
- 2:14Speaker 2: that's something that they could solve internally. But those are
- 2:16Speaker 2: gonna be their biggest needs and areas to improve upon
- 2:19Speaker 2: before the deadline.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Gary, is it true that because we've had so much
- 2:24Speaker 4: good White Sox talk, they brought you on just because
- 2:26Speaker 4: the Yankees beat the White Sox last night?
- 2:29Speaker 2: You know, it's funny you mentioned that I wasn't very
- 2:31Speaker 2: impressed with the White Sox last night. I had heard
- 2:33Speaker 2: they I had heard they'd.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Been a lot. Oh my gosh, I heard they were good.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Tonight is the revenge of the revenge game against Garrett Cole.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean the standings, I know they're top the
- 2:44Speaker 2: central I was looking forward to seeing, you know, some
- 2:47Speaker 2: better play from the White Sox than I've become accustomed
- 2:50Speaker 2: to in years past, but did not happen last night.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Game five, Game five, That's all I'm gonna say.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Game five, really give fifth inning.
- 2:59Speaker 3: I'm just saying, wow, I don't know about the words.
- 3:05Speaker 4: I've been to the playoffs so long I forgot so so
- 3:08Speaker 4: you're saying they only need a right handed hitting catcher.
- 3:11Speaker 4: What does that mean for Austin Wells, because Austin Wells
- 3:14Speaker 4: was thought to be the future and he's I mean,
- 3:17Speaker 4: he's been up and down depending on who you ask, right,
- 3:20Speaker 4: But does that mean that they're looking for someone to
- 3:21Speaker 4: take his place long term or is this just a
- 3:24Speaker 4: short term solution. Do they get through the offseason and
- 3:26Speaker 4: then figure things out again?
- 3:29Speaker 2: I think it depends on the caliber of the type
- 3:32Speaker 2: of catcher that they could bring in. You know, if
- 3:33Speaker 2: you're bringing in somebody like Jeffers, then you know you're
- 3:38Speaker 2: probably giving up a lot for him. He's an impending
- 3:40Speaker 2: free agent as well, so are you going to invest
- 3:42Speaker 2: in him in the offseason. He's a guy who probably
- 3:45Speaker 2: should be starting every day or more often than not.
- 3:49Speaker 2: If you're only bringing in a platoon type of player,
- 3:51Speaker 2: I think that probably bodes well for Wells as far
- 3:55Speaker 2: as hanging onto the bulk of the playing time. You know,
- 3:58Speaker 2: something Brian Cashman said in the past is that he
- 4:00Speaker 2: doesn't really like onboarding starting caliber catchers in the middle
- 4:04Speaker 2: of the season because that could be detrimental to a
- 4:06Speaker 2: pitching staff. And the Yankees still love what Wells does
- 4:10Speaker 2: behind the plate. Their pitching staff loves what he does
- 4:13Speaker 2: behind the plate. He's always being praised for his game, calling,
- 4:17Speaker 2: his preparation, things like that, so I would be somewhat
- 4:20Speaker 2: surprised if some a new catcher supplanted him as the
- 4:25Speaker 2: full time starter. I do think you need to have
- 4:29Speaker 2: an alternative though, From the right side.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Support for today's episode comes from Square, and they've got
- 4:36Speaker 1: big news. During Squar's biannual Releases event, they launched a
- 4:39Speaker 1: wave of innovative new tools to help local businesses run faster, smarter,
- 4:42Speaker 1: and more profitably. Square is awesome. Around Orlando, where AJ
- 4:46Speaker 1: and I live, we go to the farmers' markets around town.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I go to the one near Lake Iola. It's awesome.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I use Square to pay with my phone. I get
- 4:54Speaker 1: the receipt right away.
- 4:54Speaker 4: It's great. And so many businesses, not just small businesses, uses.
- 4:57Speaker 4: So many restaurants and businesses I walk into, not only
- 5:00Speaker 4: in Orlando, but all over the country have these and
- 5:03Speaker 4: you just use your credit card, pops out a receipt,
- 5:06Speaker 4: emails it right to you. It's so fast, it's so efficient,
- 5:09Speaker 4: it's so hassle free. It's one of the great things
- 5:11Speaker 4: that you have going.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Square launched its most powerful tools yet designed to give
- 5:15Speaker 1: local businesses a competitive edge without the complexity. If you're
- 5:19Speaker 1: ready to sell smarter, run faster and stress less right now,
- 5:21Speaker 1: you can get up to two hundred dollars off Square
- 5:23Speaker 1: hardware at Square dot com slash Go slash foul. That's
- 5:27Speaker 1: Square dot Com slash Go slash foul. Run your business
- 5:30Speaker 1: smarter with Square, get started today.
- 5:33Speaker 4: All right, Well, they're just going to look down the
- 5:35Speaker 4: list of who receives the best, because that's all they
- 5:38Speaker 4: really care about. Behind the dishes, a team fans care
- 5:41Speaker 4: about Austin Wells hitting one to eighty the team. The
- 5:44Speaker 4: organization loves him because he receives well, and so does
- 5:47Speaker 4: a Scara so off the catching position to the bullpen.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Everybody thinks Brian Cashman's this like megamover at the trade deadline.
- 5:57Speaker 4: He rarely makes mega moves. Last year was his largest,
- 6:01Speaker 4: bringing in bringing in two relievers that had more long
- 6:04Speaker 4: term hope in Bednar and Deval. Did he miss on
- 6:09Speaker 4: those trades and is he gonna have to try to
- 6:10Speaker 4: take another swing at mega relief core additions.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I think he'll probably have to bring in at least
- 6:19Speaker 2: one established arm prior to the trade deadline. Now you
- 6:22Speaker 2: look back at last year's deadline. I would say David
- 6:25Speaker 2: Bednard has been a success in pinstripes. He's had some
- 6:28Speaker 2: rocky moments, and you know he likes to work in
- 6:30Speaker 2: and out of traffic. He's been really good since he
- 6:32Speaker 2: stopped relying on his curve ball so much over the
- 6:34Speaker 2: last few weeks. Dvall, I don't see how you really
- 6:38Speaker 2: trust him in a high leverage situation other than out
- 6:41Speaker 2: of just default and absolute need. Because of the state
- 6:44Speaker 2: of the Yankees bullpen right now. You know you mentioned
- 6:47Speaker 2: two guys, but there is also Jake Bird. He hasn't
- 6:49Speaker 2: panned out and been what the Yankees expected him to be.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I know his metrics are really strong, but the results
- 6:55Speaker 2: are obviously not there. So I think you're probably gonna
- 6:58Speaker 2: see them bring in one or two more high leverage
- 7:01Speaker 2: established guys. I think they want to see what Legron
- 7:04Speaker 2: Hay can be. You know, can he throw strikes and
- 7:08Speaker 2: avoid enough walks while seeing an uptick in his electric
- 7:11Speaker 2: stuff out of the bullpen? In their perfect world. The
- 7:14Speaker 2: answer to that is yes. You know, I also think
- 7:16Speaker 2: they're looking down the line if the rest of their
- 7:19Speaker 2: rotation can stay healthy and Max Freed can come back
- 7:23Speaker 2: relatively soon. He just started throwing the bullpens this past week.
- 7:27Speaker 2: If he can come back and the rest of the
- 7:29Speaker 2: rotation is healthy, well, then you can slot Will Warren
- 7:32Speaker 2: or Ryan Weathers into the bullpen and you know, they
- 7:36Speaker 2: can provide a little bit of length with quality stuff,
- 7:39Speaker 2: and they would be upgrades over somebody like Ryan.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Yarborough or Paul Blackburn.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Now you could even look at Clark Schmidt down the road.
- 7:46Speaker 2: You know, that might not be until late August early September,
- 7:48Speaker 2: but he's a guy that has bullpen experience and would
- 7:51Speaker 2: be able to provide length and quality stuff out of
- 7:53Speaker 2: the pen. So I think their hope is that he'll
- 7:56Speaker 2: be able to address this more internally this summer. That said,
- 8:01Speaker 2: I still think they would benefit from bringing in an
- 8:03Speaker 2: outside arm.
- 8:05Speaker 3: That makes sense, all right.
- 8:06Speaker 4: One guy I got to ask about because he cannot
- 8:08Speaker 4: do a Yankees interview without asking about him. He's the
- 8:10Speaker 4: short stuff. He's Anthony Volpe. He's right in line with
- 8:13Speaker 4: his career. He's got a six sixty two ops, which
- 8:16Speaker 4: is right pretty much his entire career. Is he the
- 8:19Speaker 4: long term solution still for the Yankees, or the Yankees
- 8:22Speaker 4: value him higher than any other team does?
- 8:25Speaker 3: Well?
- 8:26Speaker 2: Right, now he doesn't even appear to be the guaranteed
- 8:29Speaker 2: everyday solutions. I mean, it's been it's been kind of
- 8:32Speaker 2: interesting to see how Aaron Boone has gone back and
- 8:36Speaker 2: forth between Volpi and Jose Cabbaliro since Kybaliro came off
- 8:40Speaker 2: the IL with the fractured finger. Obviously there's some other
- 8:43Speaker 2: factors here, you know, a couple outfielders, including Aaron Judge,
- 8:46Speaker 2: going on the IL creates some openings for Kybaliro to
- 8:49Speaker 2: play right field. Now he could also play third base,
- 8:53Speaker 2: he could play second base when the Yankees are facing lefties.
- 8:56Speaker 2: But he was playing the best shortstop in baseball prior
- 9:00Speaker 2: to getting hurt. And now Volpi has more or less
- 9:04Speaker 2: gotten the bulk of those starts since he's since he's
- 9:08Speaker 2: been recalled, and since Kybaliro has been back off the IL.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I don't necessarily understand it. Like you said, the offensive
- 9:16Speaker 2: production is not there from Volpi. I know the Yankees
- 9:19Speaker 2: have publicly said they've been really happy with Volpi's defense
- 9:23Speaker 2: after it was pretty poor last season. I think there's
- 9:26Speaker 2: been a handful of plays that have not been good.
- 9:30Speaker 2: That's not to say there haven't been some web gyms
- 9:32Speaker 2: as well. Right but like he's messed up on a
- 9:35Speaker 2: couple of routine plays, some weak throws. Now he certainly
- 9:38Speaker 2: doesn't have as strong an armis as kyby Row. So
- 9:42Speaker 2: it's interesting how they've handled this and how I'm sure
- 9:45Speaker 2: they'll continue to handle it, just because they always do
- 9:48Speaker 2: seem to defer to Volpi. I can't really explain it
- 9:51Speaker 2: at this point, but that's that's basically the situation right now.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Are they putting the best team out there?
- 9:57Speaker 4: Because you said, you said Cabiiro is very versatile, but
- 10:02Speaker 4: is that loss? Do you think or have you heard,
- 10:05Speaker 4: is the organization hoping maybe Vulpi could be versatile? Like
- 10:08Speaker 4: do you ever see him taking balls in right field
- 10:10Speaker 4: with Judge out? And Kybrier started there last night?
- 10:14Speaker 2: Not right field. He has started working at second base
- 10:17Speaker 2: and you'll see him take some grounders there before games
- 10:20Speaker 2: that you know he's that's something he started doing when
- 10:22Speaker 2: Coby did come back. He hasn't played there in a
- 10:25Speaker 2: game yet. And whenever we ask Boom now in the
- 10:28Speaker 2: week since is this something that's still in play, he says, yeah,
- 10:32Speaker 2: he's still working there. But also kyby Erro's versatility becomes
- 10:36Speaker 2: Volpi's versatility which maybe if you were, like, if there
- 10:41Speaker 2: was a need to get both of those guys in
- 10:43Speaker 2: the lineup, would make some sense and you'd want them
- 10:46Speaker 2: both from the lineup. But Volpi's also not doing anything
- 10:48Speaker 2: offensively to warrant being in the lineup. So it's kind
- 10:54Speaker 2: of always been the same song and dance with how
- 10:55Speaker 2: the Yankees treat Volpi and go about his playing time. Now,
- 10:59Speaker 2: it looked as if maybe that was going to change
- 11:02Speaker 2: when Cabiro came off the il, but Phobia is still
- 11:05Speaker 2: getting the bulk of the starts at short.
- 11:08Speaker 3: All right, I completely forgot what I was gonna say.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Oh, Caballera Cabrera in the pitchclock situation, was that ever
- 11:16Speaker 4: explained resolved? Why would he get a warning for following
- 11:20Speaker 4: the rules just because it annoyed the Blue Jays?
- 11:23Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 11:24Speaker 2: So the way Boone was kind of explaining it was
- 11:27Speaker 2: so the rule says you have to be alert right
- 11:30Speaker 2: at eight seconds, and in cabal Arrow's mind, he is
- 11:34Speaker 2: following this to a t and he's looking up at
- 11:37Speaker 2: eight seconds. An interpretation of that, which is perhaps what
- 11:40Speaker 2: happened the other day on Sunday, is that the process
- 11:43Speaker 2: of lifting your head and looking up at eight is
- 11:46Speaker 2: not equivalent to being alert at eight, So you can
- 11:50Speaker 2: argue that's semantics, that's nitpicky. It is what it is
- 11:54Speaker 2: like whatever Boone's explanation was basically like he needs to
- 11:59Speaker 2: be alert, and maybe certain umpires are going to have
- 12:03Speaker 2: different interpretations of that. I think the simple solution here
- 12:07Speaker 2: is just making sure your eyes are up at nine
- 12:10Speaker 2: or ten seconds instead of eight, and there's no confusion whatsoever.
- 12:15Speaker 2: But kybro is also obviously doing this to try to
- 12:18Speaker 2: get under Pitcher's skin and try to use the clock
- 12:21Speaker 2: to his advantage, So he does want to milk the
- 12:23Speaker 2: clock for every last possible second. Does it get to
- 12:27Speaker 2: the point where it becomes, you know, an everyday conversation
- 12:30Speaker 2: which with an umpire, which is kind of what it's
- 12:32Speaker 2: been all season?
- 12:36Speaker 4: Gary, What about Paul gold Schman, I know he's found
- 12:39Speaker 4: his power. All of a sudden, did he lose his power?
- 12:41Speaker 4: Did it disappear? I know it went down for a
- 12:44Speaker 4: little while, But he's found it. He's hitting right, he's again,
- 12:46Speaker 4: which he obviously had done for a long time before
- 12:49Speaker 4: the last couple of years.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so he only hit ten homers last year, his
- 12:53Speaker 2: first season the Yankees he's at ten home runs already
- 12:56Speaker 2: this year.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I actually asked Paul.
- 12:59Speaker 2: In Toronto, did you do anything over the off season
- 13:02Speaker 2: that would explain the uptick and power, anything different with
- 13:05Speaker 2: your mechanics, your preparation, the way you take care of
- 13:08Speaker 2: your body, anything. He was like, no, not really, so,
- 13:12Speaker 2: you know, he was saying basically like he just feels
- 13:15Speaker 2: good and like his timing has been strong. He is
- 13:19Speaker 2: hitting the ball out in front a little bit more.
- 13:20Speaker 2: There's been a some small deviations in his stance compared
- 13:25Speaker 2: to last year if you look at that stuff on
- 13:26Speaker 2: Baseball Savant. But he said, none of it is conscious,
- 13:30Speaker 2: none of it's intentional. It's more just, you know, all
- 13:33Speaker 2: this analytical stuff and these metrics are a byproduct of
- 13:36Speaker 2: him just feeling good at the plate and having good
- 13:38Speaker 2: at beats. I think it's interesting, you know. I kind
- 13:41Speaker 2: of went into it figuring like, Okay, he's thirty eight,
- 13:44Speaker 2: and you don't just find your slug again at that age.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Surely something must be different. I asked him, you know,
- 13:50Speaker 2: three four different ways, and he was just like, no,
- 13:52Speaker 2: wish I had something to explain it for you.
- 13:57Speaker 1: With over thirty five million download Seekeeek is the number
- 13:59Speaker 1: one rated ticketing app and krats. There are many many
- 14:04Speaker 1: baseball games on the inventory to check out all summer long.
- 14:08Speaker 1: This is the season now, it is baseball baseball season.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Not many other options for you sports wise. I know
- 14:13Speaker 1: you can go anywhere you want to go with Seakeek.
- 14:15Speaker 1: There's so many tickets to choose from, but baseball's center
- 14:18Speaker 1: stage now for the next couple months.
- 14:20Speaker 3: School's out.
- 14:21Speaker 4: I'm going to watch some baseball games, some big league games,
- 14:24Speaker 4: all in my area, and I want to know exactly
- 14:26Speaker 4: what it looks like. And I also want the best deal,
- 14:29Speaker 4: so I'm looking for the green, not the red.
- 14:31Speaker 3: That's right.

- 14:57Speaker 4: Do you hear anything in the clubhouse, or if you
- 14:59Speaker 4: asked Aaron Boone about the way that Jazz handles his challenges.
- 15:04Speaker 4: I think he's four for fifteen. He's been successful four
- 15:07Speaker 4: times and fifteen chances.
- 15:10Speaker 2: We've asked Boone about it a couple of times. He
- 15:12Speaker 2: tends to leave it as at you know, I talked
- 15:15Speaker 2: to him about it. Well, we went over that one.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I'm honestly kind of surprised that Jazz and some others
- 15:22Speaker 2: have not been stripped of their challenge privileges yet. But basically,
- 15:27Speaker 2: whenever we ask like, oh, was that a good one?
- 15:29Speaker 2: Was that one that you need to talk to a
- 15:31Speaker 2: guy about, Boom's default as always. Yeah, we chatted about
- 15:34Speaker 2: it and he kind of leaves it at that. The
- 15:39Speaker 2: Yankees actually have a system in place where if you know,
- 15:43Speaker 2: an entire ball is in the strike zone and the
- 15:47Speaker 2: batter challenges it, they're supposed to pay a fine. So
- 15:50Speaker 2: you would think that alone would war Jazz off from
- 15:52Speaker 2: these poor challenges, but it hasn't seen.
- 15:54Speaker 3: It hasn't seemed to.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Happen yet, well because the fine is not large enough.
- 15:59Speaker 4: And also once said that he's rich or something for you, right,
- 16:02Speaker 4: So yeah, I got on Instagram, I'm rich and the
- 16:04Speaker 4: rest of the people are.
- 16:05Speaker 1: He's going to be doing this with the abs challenges
- 16:08Speaker 1: take all my bills. It's only five putting him.
- 16:11Speaker 3: That's not much.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Yeah, he actually he actually did a self imposed thousand
- 16:15Speaker 2: dollars fine earlier this season, which was how I came
- 16:19Speaker 2: across that story. But yeah, he does not mind putting
- 16:21Speaker 2: money into that pot.
- 16:24Speaker 3: But he'll still challenging exactly. That's why he doesn't mind.
- 16:27Speaker 3: You know.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Hopefully it's going to a good cost. Gary, good stuff, man.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Great to have you on. Thanks for swinging by, and
- 16:34Speaker 1: yeah for everyone else following all the socials, check out
- 16:37Speaker 1: the articles in the New York Daily News. Thank you Gary.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Guys.
- 16:42Speaker 4: The White Sox are coming tonight, Gary, watch out the
- 16:45Speaker 4: revenge for the Revenge game.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Keeping my eye out.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yes, all right, thanks guys, let's uh, let's keep it
- 16:52Speaker 1: here for a moment. I wanted to get your reaction
- 16:55Speaker 1: because we brought this up in yesterday's show. But then
- 16:57Speaker 1: there was an update before the Yankees White TX game.
- 17:01Speaker 1: The league actually called the Yankees and said, hey, here's
- 17:04Speaker 1: the deal. Batter's got to be alert and engaged with
- 17:07Speaker 1: the picture. When the pitch clock strikes eight seconds, They're like, yeah,
- 17:10Speaker 1: I mean he's doing that to me. They were kind
- 17:13Speaker 1: of inferring that he's like looking up at the eight
- 17:17Speaker 1: seconds versus kind of settling into the eight seconds, which
- 17:21Speaker 1: gets very very ticky tacky with how the rule is.
- 17:24Speaker 1: And then Caballero was pissed and it sounds like rightfully,
- 17:28Speaker 1: So he said there were a lot of quotes from
- 17:30Speaker 1: him yesterday, HESHNEI clarification on it. Regardless of what the
- 17:33Speaker 1: rule will be, I will wait until eight or nine
- 17:35Speaker 1: seconds to be alert. I'm not going to give my
- 17:37Speaker 1: app bat to the picture to determine if he's going
- 17:39Speaker 1: to control my timing or not. I'm going to wait
- 17:42Speaker 1: all the way until my time. And he said, you know,
- 17:46Speaker 1: he's not going to let you know pitchers freeze him
- 17:48Speaker 1: or a runner, like it's just part of his routine now.
- 17:51Speaker 1: And he feels like the league is, according to him,
- 17:55Speaker 1: changing things every day. He was like, I'm getting different
- 17:57Speaker 1: interpretations every day. And he said, once the clock goes
- 18:02Speaker 1: down to thirteen, I do my routine. I put my
- 18:04Speaker 1: head up at eight, and now that's an issue. I
- 18:06Speaker 1: don't get it. So there was some complaining from him
- 18:09Speaker 1: and is it rightfully.
- 18:12Speaker 4: So yeah, and then I love what will venable? So
- 18:14Speaker 4: he goes it's a tactic. It's a good tactic, and
- 18:16Speaker 4: it's in our advanced meeting, So tell your pictures. He's
- 18:20Speaker 4: going to look up at eight seconds, so don't plan
- 18:21Speaker 4: anything until there's eight seconds on the clock.
- 18:23Speaker 3: So I listen.
- 18:24Speaker 4: I thought he was doing everything right out and have
- 18:26Speaker 4: a problem with this. You know, sometimes people don't like
- 18:30Speaker 4: things when they don't go their way.
- 18:31Speaker 1: And but it sounds like this isn't over because the
- 18:37Speaker 1: league called and said, no, he needs to be not
- 18:40Speaker 1: it needs to be like you're here now at eight seconds,
- 18:43Speaker 1: not Zoolander, look up eight second.
- 18:46Speaker 4: That's the rule.
- 18:46Speaker 3: The rule is you have to engage at eight seconds.
- 18:49Speaker 3: So now we change the rules.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Just like the whole Just like the whole ABS people
- 18:54Speaker 4: were like, oh, well we should have a little buffer zone. Okay,
- 18:57Speaker 4: well then you're just expanding the zone like it's black
- 19:01Speaker 4: or white, it's eight seconds or it's not. An umpire
- 19:04Speaker 4: can't say, well, actually, you have to be engaged. And
- 19:07Speaker 4: what engaged means is what if he looks up and
- 19:10Speaker 4: he has his eyes closed, like is that engaged?
- 19:14Speaker 3: Who knows?
- 19:15Speaker 4: Like I forget who was big jacked pitcher for the Yankees.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Uh Ian No, I forget who was. He never would
- 19:23Speaker 4: engage with the with the batter because he had the
- 19:25Speaker 4: pitch colm on and so he would have his head
- 19:28Speaker 4: down like this and he would say yes with his
- 19:31Speaker 4: head down and he would never make eye contacts.
- 19:33Speaker 3: So they were I forget what his name was.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Kind of injured guy, kind of short arm Ian Hamilton,
- 19:41Speaker 4: Ian Hamilton.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Isn't he a driver? No noise? Ian Hamilton.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that's losing in Hamiltons Hamilton.
- 19:50Speaker 3: He dates Kim Kardashian Lewis Hamilton, No, I think I
- 19:54Speaker 3: think it was.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I Ian was on the Yanks the last like four
- 19:58Speaker 1: years before this year. Now, you know, I think he's
- 20:01Speaker 1: been hurt for the most part but this year, but
- 20:03Speaker 1: he pitched a lot for the Anks last few years.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Maybe that's who you're talking about.
- 20:07Speaker 4: Yes, and so I think there's there's different mechanics to it.
- 20:10Speaker 4: But to take it away from a player that has
- 20:13Speaker 4: made it successful, I think is it's nitpicking. And I
- 20:16Speaker 4: feel like the umpire overstepped it, overstepped his line there.
- 20:20Speaker 1: But it's not just the yump That's my point is
- 20:22Speaker 1: it's also MLB now that has gotten involved and said hey,
- 20:26Speaker 1: they didn't call and say hey, you're good. They called
- 20:29Speaker 1: and said, hey, here's how we're interpreting it.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Remember, because they so does he have to do it
- 20:37Speaker 4: at ten seconds? Like you have to like it has
- 20:39Speaker 4: to be black and white in my opinion, Then they're
- 20:42Speaker 4: going to say it has to be at eleven, right,
- 20:45Speaker 4: So that's so, that's so dumb.
- 20:49Speaker 3: O comment.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I hope he continues to do what he does and
- 20:52Speaker 1: then we see how this plays out.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Yeah you do you Jose, We like it to continue
- 20:58Speaker 4: with the double EyeBlack too.
- 21:00Speaker 3: I can't pull that off, but he can't. Yeah, you go, hey, man,
- 21:05Speaker 3: there's no listen.
- 21:06Speaker 4: If you're gonna say you do what you do, then
- 21:07Speaker 4: don't came out at the double eyeblacks in the dome too.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Royce Lewis had the double eye black with the white
- 21:14Speaker 4: eye black. Wait what's the white I? And then another
- 21:19Speaker 4: black in the dome in Texas. Last night they worked.
- 21:23Speaker 4: They scored a lot of runs. So choch keys, chach.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Keys, gimmicks, whatever you want to call them. I love them.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Look good, feel good, play good, it doesn't matter.
- 21:34Speaker 1: And then if you play good the next day I
- 21:36Speaker 1: don't care where you're playing. You could be playing on
- 21:38Speaker 1: the moon. You're doing that right.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Royce loss in the bushes no long ago. He's back
- 21:42Speaker 4: in the big leagues. If he gets some hits, he's
- 21:44Speaker 4: gonna be wearing it. He might be wearing no, he
- 21:46Speaker 4: might be wearing eye black with places.
- 21:47Speaker 3: You can't see.
- 21:48Speaker 1: You keeps getting that's right, whatever works.
- 21:51Speaker 3: I know one thing that he doesn't do to get hit.
- 21:52Speaker 3: So I wasn't on that show.
- 21:56Speaker 2: That okay,
