- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Hey, I'm so excited for today. Last episode we were at the park doing fun activities. Lucas: Right, we learned 'Saya suka berjalan' and 'Mari kita bermain.' Good stuff. Luna: Yeah, I've been practicing. So what are we learning today? Lucas: Today, we're going to the zoo! We'll learn some common animal names in Malay. Luna: Ooh, I love the zoo. Okay, what's first? Lucas: Let's start with a very common animal: monkey. In Malay, monkey is 'monyet.' Say it with me: mo-nyet. Luna: Monyet. Monyet. Lucas: Perfect! Now, how about 'bird'? Bird is 'burung.' Bu-rung. Luna: Burung. Burung. That sounds like 'boo-roong.' Lucas: Exactly. Next, fish. Fish is 'ikan.' I-kan. Luna: Ikan. Ikan. Easy. Lucas: And finally, snake. Snake is 'ular.' U-lar. Luna: Ular. Ular. That one sounds a bit like 'you-lar.' Lucas: Yes. So we have monyet, burung, ikan, ular. Let's practice them together. Repeat after me: monyet. Luna: Monyet. Lucas: Burung. Luna: Burung. Lucas: Ikan. Luna: Ikan. Lucas: Ular. Luna: Ular. Lucas: Great! Now let's put them in a simple sentence. 'I see a monkey' is 'Saya nampak monyet.' Let's break it down: Saya means I, nampak means see, monyet is monkey. So: Saya nampak monyet. Luna: Saya nampak monyet. Saya nampak monyet. Lucas: Very good! Now try: Saya nampak burung. Luna: Saya nampak burung. I see a bird. Lucas: Exactly. And Saya nampak ikan. Luna: Saya nampak ikan. I see a fish. Lucas: And Saya nampak ular. Luna: Saya nampak ular. I see a snake. Ooh, I'm not a fan of snakes. Lucas: That's okay. Let's learn another useful phrase: 'The bird is small.' In Malay, 'Burung itu kecil.' Burung is bird, itu means 'the' or 'that,' and kecil means small. So: Burung itu kecil. Luna: Burung itu kecil. Burung itu kecil. So if I want to say 'The monkey is small,' it's 'Monyet itu kecil'? Lucas: Exactly! You're catching on. Monyet itu kecil. And if you want to say 'The fish is small,' it's 'Ikan itu kecil.' Luna: Ikan itu kecil. And 'The snake is small' is 'Ular itu kecil.' Lucas: Perfect. Now let's imagine we're at the zoo. I'll be the guide, and you're the visitor. I point and say, 'Saya nampak monyet.' What do you say? Luna: Saya nampak monyet. Lucas: Now I say, 'Monyet itu kecil.' What do you say? Luna: Monyet itu kecil. Lucas: Awesome! Now let's switch. You point at a bird. Luna: Saya nampak burung. Burung itu kecil. Lucas: Perfect! Now let's do a quick review. Repeat after me: monyet. Luna: Monyet. Lucas: Burung. Luna: Burung. Lucas: Ikan. Luna: Ikan. Lucas: Ular. Luna: Ular. Lucas: Saya nampak monyet. Luna: Saya nampak monyet. Lucas: Burung itu kecil. Luna: Burung itu kecil. Lucas: Saya nampak ikan. Luna: Saya nampak ikan. Lucas: Ular itu kecil. Luna: Ular itu kecil. Lucas: Fantastic! You've learned four animal names and two useful sentences. Practice them before our next episode. Luna: I will. Thanks, Lucas!
