- 0:00Speaker 1: There's something about the warm summer air and a cold
- 0:02Speaker 1: corona with lime that makes the roar of the crowd
- 0:05Speaker 1: sound a lot like the roar of the waves.
- 0:07Speaker 2: That's because this is our playa, and the best seats
- 0:09Speaker 2: are always wherever you're sitting.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Whether it's a weeknight game under the lights or a
- 0:13Speaker 1: Sunday afternoon in the sun, you know baseball isn't about
- 0:16Speaker 1: rushing around. It's about settling in, letting the game come
- 0:19Speaker 1: to you. And nothing pairs better than an ice-cold corona. Nothing.
- 0:25Speaker 2: So find your seat, your corona, and your lime. Because
- 0:29Speaker 2: real fans know the only thing better than nine innings
- 0:32Speaker 2: is extra innings, especially on La Playa.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Corona.
- 0:37Speaker 2: La Playa awaits.
- 0:39Speaker 1: The official cerveza of Major League Baseball. Get yours at

- 0:48Speaker 1: by Crown Imports, Chicago, Illinois. What's up, guys? I need
- 0:52Speaker 1: to tell you about this new prediction market called Polymarket.
- 0:55Speaker 1: It's the best new way to trade in sports. In
- 0:58Speaker 1: the past, if you wanted action on the game, you'd
- 1:01Speaker 1: put some money in, and if your team was doing
- 1:03Speaker 1: well and you wanted to cash out, they'd lock the
- 1:05Speaker 1: trade and take a huge fee. But Polymarket is a
- 1:08Speaker 1: prediction market. It's a stock exchange for sports, buying in
- 1:12Speaker 1: and selling out on your terms. I've tried them all,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and Polymarket is simply the best prediction market. Better than DraftKings, FanDuel, Kalshi,
- 1:20Speaker 1: you name it. They're so confident you'll never go back
- 1:23Speaker 1: to the other guys. They're giving you a free $ 25
- 1:25Speaker 1: on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10. And
- 1:27Speaker 1: now they've launched a new feature, Squads, a group chat
- 1:31Speaker 1: where you can see what everyone is trading. So download
- 1:34Speaker 1: the Polymarket app today and use the code RossRizzo when
- 1:37Speaker 1: you sign up. That's code RossRizzo and get $ 25 free
- 1:42Speaker 1: after you deposit just $ 10.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Welcome back to another episode of Ross and Rizzo Unfiltered.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Day two of the wild card round, and it did
- 1:50Speaker 2: not disappoint Rossi. The Phillies survived a thriller 4-3. The
- 1:55Speaker 2: White Sox put up 7 and win 7-3. The Yankees
- 1:59Speaker 2: bats continued their dominance in their pitching, winning 9-2. And
- 2:04Speaker 2: the Padres beat our Cubbies 4-1. Me and you are
- 2:08Speaker 2: just getting started. We're going to be with everyone all
- 2:10Speaker 2: October long. Instant reactions, playoff previews, predictions, and kind of
- 2:15Speaker 2: in-depth breakdowns. That only me and my partner can give you.
- 2:18Speaker 2: So we thank you for tuning along. Make sure to
- 2:21Speaker 2: subscribe to our channel. Like our videos. Interact with us
- 2:24Speaker 2: on socials. Email us at Ross and Rizzo at gmail.com
- 2:28Speaker 2: for your questions. We love answering them. Rossi, I just
- 2:32Speaker 2: got done watching you on Sunday night. Baseball tonight. Baseball tonight.
- 2:38Speaker 2: You look good, man, on TV.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Thanks, buddy. Thanks. I clean up. They can polish a turd.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I think that's the saying, right? Yeah, man, it's fun.
- 2:46Speaker 1: We're watching a lot of baseball. And, I mean, let's
- 2:49Speaker 1: get right into it. I'm glad the Phillies Braves series
- 2:53Speaker 1: is going to Game 3 because that's been the best series.
- 2:55Speaker 1: It's back and forth. Dominant starters two nights in a
- 2:59Speaker 1: row with bullpen drama. Back and forth. Big homers, Schwarber, Harper. Like,
- 3:04Speaker 1: let's freaking go. Good at bats, man. What a great
- 3:07Speaker 1: series this has been.
- 3:08Speaker 2: You're right. And these two teams, the Braves have dominated
- 3:13Speaker 2: them Over the course of the season. But the Phillies
- 3:16Speaker 2: have beat them the last two times. In the playoffs.
- 3:19Speaker 2: And now they're going to an elimination game. Where it
- 3:21Speaker 2: looked like the Braves were set up to win today.
- 3:24Speaker 2: And then boom. Right?
- 3:25Speaker 1: Like.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Bryce Harper man. I want to get right into that.
- 3:29Speaker 2: He drops a fly ball. The Braves take the lead.
- 3:32Speaker 2: And Bryce is the heart and beat of Philly.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Right?
- 3:35Speaker 2: He signs the big deal. He just talks about ingraining
- 3:38Speaker 2: the Philly culture. The blue collar. How much he loves it.
- 3:42Speaker 1: And.
- 3:43Speaker 2: He hasn't really had too many down moments there as
- 3:46Speaker 2: far as making plays like that. And he comes back
- 3:51Speaker 2: instantly and hits a home run. Him and Schwarber go
- 3:53Speaker 2: back to back. But I love most about that is
- 3:55Speaker 2: his post-game interview, right? He's talking about his son. He's saying,
- 4:00Speaker 2: the reporter asked, hey, how did you get over that
- 4:02Speaker 2: so quickly? He's like, man, I just thought about my son. Like,
- 4:04Speaker 2: what would I say to him if he made a mistake?
- 4:06Speaker 2: And I was like, holy shit, Bryce.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Wow.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Wow.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I didn't see that. I had no idea. And, you know,
- 4:14Speaker 1: like you said, to the credit, a true leader doing
- 4:16Speaker 1: what's best for the team, superstar, highest-paid player, and he
- 4:20Speaker 1: goes from first base, where he's been great, moving in
- 4:23Speaker 1: from right field, going back so they can fit Louisa
- 4:26Speaker 1: Rice in there and Alec Baum now moving over there,
- 4:29Speaker 1: not trying to move too many guys around. And, you know,
- 4:33Speaker 1: misreads that ball. Like, it was a tough read. The
- 4:34Speaker 1: ball's traveling like crazy in the day game in right field.
- 4:38Speaker 1: We've seen it multiple times with homers. going out over there,
- 4:41Speaker 1: just wall scrapers, the one from Alec Bohm here, you know,
- 4:45Speaker 1: to put them ahead late. The one yesterday from Riley
- 4:48Speaker 1: just carries to right center, just goes out. Like, I'm
- 4:52Speaker 1: with you, man. He just had an up and down.
- 4:54Speaker 1: A little bit of the base running stuff early on,
- 4:56Speaker 1: getting the rundown, going on contact. A lot of people
- 4:59Speaker 1: bash him on that. Like, I got no problem with that.
- 5:01Speaker 1: But just the back and forth, getting the first RBI
- 5:04Speaker 1: for them today, great, great game for him. And you love–
- 5:09Speaker 1: when guys make mistakes, them staying positive. And I love
- 5:12Speaker 1: his post-game interview. He was like, I can't tell you
- 5:15Speaker 1: I wasn't trying to hit a home run in that moment.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I wanted to go back, bro. I needed redemption.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I mean, bro, it's– and two, coming off Dylan Lee.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Dylan Lee, for the Braves, has not given up a
- 5:27Speaker 2: home run to any left-handed hitters all season long. And
- 5:30Speaker 2: Schwarber and Harper go back-to-back. Back to back. I mean,
- 5:35Speaker 2: if you're a Phillies fan, you need to just embrace
- 5:38Speaker 2: this almost torture that you're going through. Our producer Chris
- 5:41Speaker 2: Tran is like, it just seems like Phillies are making
- 5:44Speaker 2: up ways to try to lose, but they're in it,
- 5:47Speaker 2: and they have a chance to advance to the NLDS.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So I'm excited for this game three tomorrow. It's on primetime.
- 5:55Speaker 2: It's the only game that there is tomorrow, and they're
- 5:58Speaker 2: going to be front and center of it.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, the thing I love, and I told
- 6:03Speaker 1: you my pick was Brazen 2, and if it goes
- 6:05Speaker 1: to 3, I think the Phillies got the edge, baby.
- 6:07Speaker 1: And they got Aaron Nola on the mound tomorrow. He's
- 6:11Speaker 1: been great.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Since late July. I don't think it's been announced, has it?
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but it will be by tomorrow because I know already.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I'm playing manager.
- 6:19Speaker 2: You're playing the prediction market.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I'm playing the poly market right now. We're going Phillies,
- 6:27Speaker 1: Nola on the mound. I wouldn't be shocked if Wheeler
- 6:30Speaker 1: piggybacked him as little trust as they have in that bullpen,
- 6:33Speaker 1: maybe on three days rest. I don't love the three
- 6:36Speaker 1: days rest with Wheeler. Um, you know, the numbers haven't
- 6:39Speaker 1: been great really since like Josh Beckett back in the day,
- 6:42Speaker 1: I think went on short rest to help the Yankees
- 6:44Speaker 1: win the world. The Marlins beat the Yankees to win
- 6:47Speaker 1: a world series. But, um, yeah, it's crazy, man. My,
- 6:51Speaker 1: the poly market, let me get this in the poly
- 6:52Speaker 1: market prediction. It's Philly's 50% to the yes. A hundred
- 6:57Speaker 1: dollars wins you 195. So you almost double your money
- 7:00Speaker 1: and the Braves are 51% to the yes. A hundred
- 7:01Speaker 1: gets you 189 and I am going Philly.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Well, bro, how about the pitching matchup, right? Christopher Sanchez,
- 7:12Speaker 2: he's going to be top three in Cy Young this year.
- 7:15Speaker 1: He was nasty.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Six and two-thirds, right? 116 pitches. Don Mattingly's riding him.
- 7:22Speaker 2: And then Tyler Maley, seven innings pitch, one earned. His
- 7:26Speaker 2: first career postseason start with the Braves. When he's coming over,
- 7:29Speaker 2: getting traded to the Braves, Nine starts, he had under
- 7:32Speaker 2: a two ERA. So the Braves unlocked something in him.
- 7:35Speaker 2: He started throwing his split a lot more.
- 7:36Speaker 1: That's where it was, yeah, that split.
- 7:37Speaker 2: To go off that fastball that has ride. I remember
- 7:40Speaker 2: facing him. That was a plus-plus fastball. So that was
- 7:43Speaker 2: a great pitching matchup.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Well, the split, he was nasty, to your point. Like,
- 7:47Speaker 1: he threw that thing, I think, over 50% of the time. Like,
- 7:50Speaker 1: he was filthy with that thing. You saw. I felt
- 7:52Speaker 1: like they knew it was coming. You don't make Kyle
- 7:56Speaker 1: Schwarber look that.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Bad in that many events. That's exactly right. It looked like...
- 8:00Speaker 2: Schwarber was almost swinging at left-handed sliders, right? And I
- 8:04Speaker 2: was like, oh, my God. You don't see Schwarber swing
- 8:06Speaker 2: like that, like, knowing Kyle. So I'm pumped, man. Look,
- 8:11Speaker 2: I think the Braves are a deep team. They have
- 8:15Speaker 2: to get through the Phillies, and I think they can
- 8:16Speaker 2: go deep. But it's hard for me not to root
- 8:19Speaker 2: for our boy, Schwarbs, right? Yeah.
- 8:22Speaker 1: We root for friends of the program.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Exactly. You know, another just awesome thing is Andrew Painter.
- 8:30Speaker 2: You know, huge prospect. He gets Tommy John a few
- 8:33Speaker 2: years ago, derails his big league debut, was not very good,
- 8:38Speaker 2: horrible in parts of this year. He was sent down, right?
- 8:42Speaker 2: Came back up, kind of settled, and he was sent
- 8:44Speaker 2: down with a first-half ERA of over 7. And he
- 8:47Speaker 2: comes back in the second half, the mid-3s, and then
- 8:51Speaker 2: delivers three massive innings. As a rookie, bro, in that environment, like,
- 8:56Speaker 2: that's just another– example of October baseball where you just
- 9:00Speaker 2: get the refresh button.
- 9:01Speaker 1: That's exactly what I was going to say. The fact
- 9:04Speaker 1: when you get a refresh, just a clean slate, the
- 9:07Speaker 1: season's over with, all that matters in the postseason is
- 9:10Speaker 1: getting outs, having good at-bats, getting big hits, moving around.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Nobody cares about their stats now. It's just about, I'm
- 9:16Speaker 1: going to go out and give our team a chance
- 9:18Speaker 1: to win. And for a young guy to do that,
- 9:20Speaker 1: I said on TV when Real Muto challenged that last
- 9:24Speaker 1: pitch to end the game, I was like, You love
- 9:26Speaker 1: to see a guy with the name Painter paint the
- 9:28Speaker 1: last pitch on the inside corner. What a cheesy line
- 9:31Speaker 1: that was.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it's great. I love it. It's good to be cheesy. But, bro,
- 9:35Speaker 2: these games, I was talking about this today. I was
- 9:38Speaker 2: on the game, Yankees-Red Sox. I'm with Benetti, Joe Girardi,
- 9:42Speaker 2: and Lou Maloney. And I'm just saying, these games, like,
- 9:46Speaker 2: what a letdown the DS is, right? Because you just
- 9:49Speaker 2: have these, like, must-win games. right out to shoot, and
- 9:53Speaker 2: then you get to the DS thing, oh, there's five-game
- 9:55Speaker 2: series now? Right. Because these games are just action-packed drama.
- 9:59Speaker 2: So it's going to be fun.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Let's get to the one that you call. Like, let's
- 10:05Speaker 1: jump into the Yankees real quick because you guys were
- 10:07Speaker 1: on that, man. Like, my takeaway, we had takeaways from
- 10:11Speaker 1: the postseason today. And, you know, outside of the Cubbies-Bats
- 10:15Speaker 1: being cold, that stood out to me a little bit.
- 10:17Speaker 1: They've been so good all season. And a lot of
- 10:20Speaker 1: credit goes to San Diego. The Yankees look so good.
- 10:23Speaker 1: The Boston Red Sox load up their staff with all
- 10:27Speaker 1: lefties because of the lefty Yankee hitters. And they dominated,
- 10:32Speaker 1: dominated the Red Sox lefties. Left on left, I think
- 10:36Speaker 1: they're like 8 for 11 in the series. Like, they
- 10:40Speaker 1: put together at bats. Red Sox pitching couldn't put away
- 10:43Speaker 1: the Yankee hitters. They hit like 333 yards. with two strikes.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I think they were one of the worst in baseball
- 10:52Speaker 1: during the regular season at that. Man, what a great
- 10:55Speaker 1: series you got to call. The Yankees look great.
- 10:58Speaker 2: They look really good. I said this on the broadcast.
- 11:01Speaker 2: They hit 12 singles tonight. 12 singles, two homers. If
- 11:05Speaker 2: the Yankees are going to hit singles in the postseason,
- 11:07Speaker 2: they are going to win the World Series because it's
- 11:11Speaker 2: a different dynamic that Yankees fans are used to. They're
- 11:15Speaker 2: used to just all or nothing in the slug. And
- 11:17Speaker 2: this is without Aaron Judge as well, the best player
- 11:19Speaker 2: on the planet. So it was electric there in the Bronx.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Sonny Gray and Max Freed came out, honestly, masterclass pitching.
- 11:30Speaker 2: They were both just, their pitch sequencing was off the charts.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Sonny Gray was dicing left and right. He was sinking it.
- 11:38Speaker 2: He was cutting it. He was throwing the sweeper. And
- 11:41Speaker 2: then Max Freed as well. And Max Freed, doesn't have
- 11:44Speaker 2: the best postseason numbers. He's a World Series champion. He
- 11:47Speaker 2: clinched that game-winning game for the Braves. He was on
- 11:52Speaker 2: the mound. But that was good for him to get
- 11:54Speaker 2: settled and into the rhythm. And the fact that they
- 11:57Speaker 2: didn't have to pitch Garrett Cole now going into Tampa
- 12:00Speaker 2: is going to be huge for them because they can
- 12:02Speaker 2: go a combination of Garrett Cole, Carlos Rodon game one.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Yeah, and their bullpen is going to be fresh, right?
- 12:09Speaker 1: They went to those guys today because they needed work,
- 12:12Speaker 1: but you know, they're going to be fresh as well
- 12:14Speaker 1: and they can line up. You talked about it yesterday,
- 12:16Speaker 1: but the fact that they have the off days, you
- 12:18Speaker 1: can go Cole, Cam, right?
- 12:23Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 12:23Speaker 1: To whoever you want to go with, you know, Rodon
- 12:26Speaker 1: or go back to Max Freed. Like you got enough
- 12:29Speaker 1: off days there where Cam's going to be, probably going
- 12:33Speaker 1: to be the game two starter.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, it's, I just love that Aaron Boone
- 12:39Speaker 2: just today when Freed was in the sixth, He didn't
- 12:44Speaker 2: have anyone up in the bullpen. He's like, look, our
- 12:46Speaker 2: pitching's dominant. And he let his boys know. And everyone
- 12:50Speaker 2: showed up. All nine guys in the lineup today had hits.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I mean, Cody Bellinger, what a cool moment. His dad
- 12:56Speaker 2: throws out the first pitch, and then he goes and
- 12:58Speaker 2: hits a three-run home run to put the game out
- 13:00Speaker 2: of reach to make it 8-1. I mean, just so
- 13:03Speaker 2: many good things happening there that if you're a Yankee fan,
- 13:08Speaker 2: you are just– you beat the Red Sox two years
- 13:10Speaker 2: in a row. Now you get to go play the Rays.
- 13:13Speaker 2: who it's a division rival, so the familiarity is there.
- 13:17Speaker 2: And it just feels like right now, I know it's
- 13:20Speaker 2: only two games, but momentum and vibes are high in
- 13:24Speaker 2: that group.
- 13:25Speaker 1: High, vibes are high. That's a great line. Man, well,
- 13:28Speaker 1: when they walked Rice, I mean, Belly already come up
- 13:31Speaker 1: with a big hit RBI earlier in the game. But
- 13:34Speaker 1: when they walked Ben Rice, which I totally agree with,
- 13:36Speaker 1: I just knowing Belly and being around him, like it was–
- 13:41Speaker 1: I'm like, this is not the guy you want to walk.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I mean, it's a contact bat. He loves that moment.
- 13:46Speaker 1: He's putting the ball in play hard somewhere, and then
- 13:49Speaker 1: he gets that big home run, that changeup from Whitlock,
- 13:52Speaker 1: just big homer, and then game's out of reach. It
- 13:55Speaker 1: may have already been. Like, it's weird in that game
- 13:57Speaker 1: how dominant the Yankees were, and it was just 2-0,
- 14:00Speaker 1: you know, 2-0 Yankees, you know, late in the ballgame
- 14:03Speaker 1: both nights, and it felt like the Yankees were up
- 14:06Speaker 1: six runs in the sixth.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Well, that's what I love about it. For them... And obviously,
- 14:10Speaker 2: I'm a little more invested, right? I have really good
- 14:13Speaker 2: friends on that team. Went to the World Series with
- 14:16Speaker 2: them in 2024. We didn't finish the job. But what
- 14:19Speaker 2: I love for them is they were in these tight,
- 14:21Speaker 2: intense pitchers' duels early, and then they broke it open late.
- 14:26Speaker 2: So they got a little bit of experience. The only
- 14:28Speaker 2: thing they didn't experience in this series is getting punched
- 14:30Speaker 2: in the face first, which is going to happen to
- 14:32Speaker 2: them throughout the postseason at some point, and it's on
- 14:35Speaker 2: them to respond. So I just loved... Everything about that series,
- 14:42Speaker 2: from pitch one to the last out, and an underrated
- 14:46Speaker 2: thing in that series is when Belly hits that home
- 14:49Speaker 2: run to make it 8-1, Aaron Boone can bring in
- 14:51Speaker 2: Will Warren. Will Warren's their fifth starter all year. They're
- 14:55Speaker 2: planning on him getting big outs in high leverage situations
- 14:58Speaker 2: deep in the playoffs. So he got to come in
- 15:00Speaker 2: out of the bullpen late, right? They're going to get
- 15:03Speaker 2: Weathers back, who's going to be another piece in that
- 15:05Speaker 2: back end of the bullpen. And they get the rest
- 15:08Speaker 2: of their guys, and to back in a little bit
- 15:10Speaker 2: more and not have to use him as much going
- 15:12Speaker 2: into this Rays series.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you know, I don't want to hammer it
- 15:17Speaker 1: too hard, but, like, when you go to the postseason,
- 15:20Speaker 1: clean baseball is so important, right? Just fundamentally sound, hitting
- 15:24Speaker 1: the cutoff man, like, you know, not making small mistakes.
- 15:28Speaker 1: And when Garrett Crochet came in, I was like, okay,
- 15:31Speaker 1: if he is dominant like he can be, the Red
- 15:35Speaker 1: Sox may have a chance here, you know, keeping it
- 15:37Speaker 1: close if he can have a clean inning. He didn't
- 15:40Speaker 1: get an out, and it started with that wild pitch,
- 15:43Speaker 1: went down, rushman blocks, it gets away from him a
- 15:46Speaker 1: little bit, and then the throw to first, you know
- 15:48Speaker 1: as a first baseman, like, he was at the back
- 15:50Speaker 1: of the bag. If you're at the front of the
- 15:51Speaker 1: bag and you're stretched, that's like a five-foot difference. You know, like,
- 15:54Speaker 1: it's an easy out.
- 15:55Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 15:56Speaker 1: And, you know, Wilson not being able to get there,
- 15:58Speaker 1: he made a play earlier on, not to hammer on Wilson, but, like,
- 16:01Speaker 1: earlier on.
- 16:02Speaker 2: He didn't get to the bag.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Yeah, Story makes that amazing play. You gotta get to
- 16:07Speaker 1: the bag, and Former catcher, again, getting used to first
- 16:10Speaker 1: base in that last couple years. He's been good over there.
- 16:12Speaker 1: But it's those little details and fundamental sound baseball that
- 16:16Speaker 1: pushes you over the edge and keeps you in ballgames.
- 16:18Speaker 1: You can't have those mental mistakes happen in that type
- 16:22Speaker 1: of environment.
- 16:23Speaker 2: No, I mean, every single play matters. And I was
- 16:26Speaker 2: thinking about it, too. How many times since switching over
- 16:29Speaker 2: to first or a new position do you think that's
- 16:32Speaker 2: happened to Wilson where it was a bang-bang play With
- 16:36Speaker 2: a drop third strike. You know what I mean?
- 16:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Maybe three or four times where it's bang, bang. So
- 16:42Speaker 2: him being a little late there, you saw it. It
- 16:44Speaker 2: changed the whole inning. And he just hit a home
- 16:48Speaker 2: run the inning before to give the Red Sox momentum.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Right?
- 16:52Speaker 2: So they could have really– I mean, the whole game
- 16:56Speaker 2: is different because of that drop third strike. That was
- 16:59Speaker 2: a turning point. And Adley had never caught Crochet before,
- 17:02Speaker 2: so maybe he didn't know how nasty he was. I
- 17:05Speaker 2: know he faced him before. but there's different catching. Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 2: And then, and then after the game, you have kind
- 17:14Speaker 2: of Wilson and Sonny talking to the media and Sonny
- 17:17Speaker 2: gray thinking he should have stayed in the game and
- 17:19Speaker 2: questioning Chad Tracy, whether to take them out. And that's
- 17:22Speaker 2: a competitor of him, competitor in him. But that's, that's tough, man, to, uh,
- 17:29Speaker 2: to kind of show up your brand new manager who, who,
- 17:34Speaker 2: help turn the entire year around.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:36Speaker 2: And yeah, it should win.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And they're getting crushed for, you know,
- 17:41Speaker 1: kind of the analytical red socks and some of the,
- 17:43Speaker 1: some of the stuff they did, but you know, it
- 17:46Speaker 1: comes down to, first of all, like after a loss,
- 17:48Speaker 1: a season like that, and the season you guys had
- 17:50Speaker 1: fighting back, like it's, it's, it's a resilient group. Like,
- 17:53Speaker 1: you know, I got to give kudos to the red
- 17:55Speaker 1: socks and how they came back. But, you know, I
- 17:58Speaker 1: think the off season stuff is left for the off season.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Like nobody's in a good mood after you lose in
- 18:02Speaker 1: the post season. Like, It's hard to send negative vibes
- 18:07Speaker 1: out after all that and create a little bit of drama.
- 18:09Speaker 1: It's not leadership. It's not winning vibes like you're talking about,
- 18:14Speaker 1: and it's definitely a bad look.
- 18:16Speaker 2: No doubt. New York now goes to Tampa, the best
- 18:21Speaker 2: team in the American League. I personally think that the
- 18:24Speaker 2: Rays having this time off is going to hurt them,
- 18:26Speaker 2: especially play-off play, the format of the American League D.S.,
- 18:33Speaker 2: But that's going to be a must-watch. But like you said, Rossi,
- 18:38Speaker 2: now what for the Red Sox? That's my question heading
- 18:41Speaker 2: into this offseason. They turned the season around. Before this,
- 18:46Speaker 2: there was a clear path for the Boston Red Sox.
- 18:49Speaker 2: It was basically rebuild. The Red Sox have had one
- 18:54Speaker 2: foot in, kind of pretending like they're a big market
- 18:57Speaker 2: for the last number of years. They trade away offensively.
- 19:00Speaker 2: a lot of their stars. They traded away Devers. I
- 19:02Speaker 2: know there's drama there. They traded away Mookie. Red Sox
- 19:05Speaker 2: fans are getting fed up with it. And at one
- 19:07Speaker 2: point this year, it was clear that they were going
- 19:09Speaker 2: to sell and they can go into a rebuild maybe
- 19:11Speaker 2: this year and next year. Now, it's like they almost
- 19:14Speaker 2: have that one foot in again, but not two feet
- 19:17Speaker 2: all the way in. Where Lou Merloni said it, this
- 19:20Speaker 2: team made the playoffs the last two years, but they
- 19:22Speaker 2: didn't play a home playoff game. So it doesn't even
- 19:24Speaker 2: feel real to these fans.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it makes a lot of sense. And, you know,
- 19:30Speaker 1: I look at it and I said this earlier in
- 19:32Speaker 1: the season, but when you look at when they were struggling,
- 19:34Speaker 1: you look at the Red Sox, you always think about
- 19:36Speaker 1: a big time slugger, right? Like, who is that guy?
- 19:39Speaker 1: Wilson had a great year, but is he that guy
- 19:41Speaker 1: to be the aircraft carrier for them? Like, it feels
- 19:44Speaker 1: like they need like another big time bat, maybe a
- 19:46Speaker 1: right-handed bat, go out and get somebody, you know, even
- 19:50Speaker 1: a great player like Cattell Marte or like trade for
- 19:52Speaker 1: somebody like that. Just, just a real, you know, they
- 19:54Speaker 1: missed out on Pete Alonzo. They could have went and
- 19:56Speaker 1: got Pete Alonzo thinking about that. You know, they go
- 19:59Speaker 1: get Wilson who had a phenomenal year, but you, I
- 20:01Speaker 1: feel like the Red Sox, when you look at their history,
- 20:06Speaker 1: like where's your David Ortiz? Where's your Manny Ramirez? Where's
- 20:09Speaker 1: that lad? big-time slugger in the middle of the order.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Even Rafi Devers, who was dominant for them, playing well.
- 20:16Speaker 1: It feels like they're missing that one big bat. Because
- 20:19Speaker 1: I think they've done a nice job there pitching. I
- 20:21Speaker 1: think that's Brez's kind of bread and butter. They've done
- 20:24Speaker 1: a nice job, crocheted back for an entire season. We
- 20:27Speaker 1: know he's going to be good. Sonny Gray, whether he
- 20:30Speaker 1: comes back or not, he's a free agent. They've got
- 20:32Speaker 1: some good young starters with Toley and Bennett. But, yeah,
- 20:36Speaker 1: I'm with you. They've got to go out and make
- 20:38Speaker 1: a big move this offseason.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I think a lot of their leadership stuff got
- 20:46Speaker 2: masked because they went on this massive run. I was
- 20:50Speaker 2: invested in the Red Sox this year because I got
- 20:53Speaker 2: to interview Chad Tracy a few times being there on
- 20:55Speaker 2: Sunday Night Baseball. Everything he was saying, I was like, man,
- 20:59Speaker 2: I like this guy a lot. Baseball family, he grinded
- 21:03Speaker 2: in the minor leagues. He's now the manager of the
- 21:06Speaker 2: Boston Red Sox gets thrown into an absolute shit situation
- 21:09Speaker 2: where they have to scramble for coaches. He said it.
- 21:11Speaker 2: He's like, I had to go get six new staff members.
- 21:14Speaker 2: You can't just monitor the coaching market. It's mid-season. Everyone's
- 21:20Speaker 2: locked up. So they brought guys in from Fort Myers, right?
- 21:24Speaker 2: They're minor league complex. And his message to his guys
- 21:26Speaker 2: is like, just give us a chance to these players, right?
- 21:29Speaker 2: Because as a big leaguer, you bring a minor league,
- 21:33Speaker 2: like rookie ball coaching, you're like, what the fuck is this, right?
- 21:37Speaker 2: You got to earn your stripes up here, right? Like
- 21:40Speaker 2: we all had to.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:41Speaker 2: But he did such a good job of turning around.
- 21:43Speaker 2: But I just feel like there's so much kind of
- 21:47Speaker 2: bullshit that happened in Boston this year with guys showing
- 21:52Speaker 2: each other up. You had the Durant incident where he's
- 21:54Speaker 2: yelling at fans. Wilson's yelling at fans. Durant's showing up
- 21:58Speaker 2: Wilson for not tagging. And they kind of just masked
- 22:01Speaker 2: everything because they were winning. And now that you don't win,
- 22:04Speaker 2: this is when it all comes out under the hood.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Yeah, and another point that we missed out on, like
- 22:09Speaker 1: Roman Anthony and who we believe he's going to be,
- 22:13Speaker 1: like that's my boy. I was around him at WBC.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Like he's an awesome dude. He competes his tail off,
- 22:20Speaker 1: wants to be in the moment. And for him to
- 22:23Speaker 1: be hurt with that wrist injury and then not be
- 22:24Speaker 1: able to play today, like that's a big loss. That's
- 22:27Speaker 1: going to be a big loss. And he was that
- 22:32Speaker 1: left-handed bat in the middle of that order. So I
- 22:35Speaker 1: still believe they need to go out and get a bat.
- 22:37Speaker 1: But I think, you know, looking at, we talked this through,
- 22:40Speaker 1: they've got a chance, but to your point, like the
- 22:43Speaker 1: culture stuff has to, has to improve. And then maybe
- 22:46Speaker 1: that's an outfielders, an outsider's perspective.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Cause you know, we don't know what's going on.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yeah. They did come together and, and, and have that
- 22:54Speaker 1: turn around to your point. But you're right. It does
- 22:58Speaker 1: all that. Those comments at the end of the game,
- 23:01Speaker 1: kind of tell a different story.
- 23:03Speaker 2: No doubt. No doubt.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Let's get to the positive team in Chicago.
- 23:10Speaker 2: The positive team in Chicago right now. The Chicago White
- 23:16Speaker 2: Sox getting a letter from the Pope. Jerry Reinsdorf saying
- 23:19Speaker 2: he's going to convert to be a Catholic now. He's like,
- 23:22Speaker 2: how can you not? I'm a Jew. I'm a Jew.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I'm a Jewish boy from Brooklyn. And the Pope's writing
- 23:28Speaker 2: me a letter for our team. I don't know if
- 23:30Speaker 2: you saw that, Rossi, but.
- 23:31Speaker 1: That was awesome.
- 23:32Speaker 2: I saw that. That was cool. I saw that. Bro,
- 23:34Speaker 2: they first playoff series win since 2005. It's a World
- 23:38Speaker 2: Series rematch, first off. The 05 rematch, right?
- 23:41Speaker 1: Right. Back when Houston was in the National League.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Both teams today, after opening with a bullpen game, never
- 23:50Speaker 2: seen it. First game of a playoff series bullpen game.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Come back with their aces, Hunter Brown and... Who was it?
- 23:57Speaker 2: Sean Burke for the White Sox. Did you see Sean
- 23:59Speaker 2: Burke's quote saying, like, this is all I got. I
- 24:01Speaker 2: don't have a family. I don't have a girl. All
- 24:03Speaker 2: I do is play baseball. Like, love that.
- 24:06Speaker 1: I didn't see that. That's so good.
- 24:08Speaker 2: That's so good.
- 24:09Speaker 1: And Hunter Brown doesn't make it out of the first inning. Bro,
- 24:12Speaker 1: I had this stat. Like, the White Sox led all
- 24:16Speaker 1: of baseball with runs scored in the first three innings. Like,
- 24:18Speaker 1: and it played out in the postseason. Like, they jumped
- 24:21Speaker 1: on the starters two nights in a row, and it
- 24:24Speaker 1: fell out of hand immediately. both nights Hunter Brown, who
- 24:28Speaker 1: I thought was, I thought he was going to deal today. Honestly,
- 24:30Speaker 1: like I love that stuff. Yeah. And, and he, he
- 24:33Speaker 1: didn't get out of the first inning. Like that was just,
- 24:37Speaker 1: you know, that was detrimental. And the Astros to their credit,
- 24:40Speaker 1: they fought good at bats. I was really impressed. They
- 24:42Speaker 1: didn't give up really good at bats. A lot of
- 24:44Speaker 1: champions on that team. And, uh, they just weren't able
- 24:48Speaker 1: to pull it out.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Three solo home runs. Jose Altuve hitting another playoff home run. His, his,
- 24:55Speaker 2: Just storybook postseason, yeah.
- 24:58Speaker 1: 28th home run. Buster Olney told me this. I got
- 25:01Speaker 1: to give him credit. He told me Jose Altuve was
- 25:06Speaker 1: one home run away from setting the all-time home run leader,
- 25:10Speaker 1: being the home run leader in the postseason and passing
- 25:13Speaker 1: Manny Ramirez. I was like, what?
- 25:15Speaker 2: I know.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Who would have thought that?
- 25:16Speaker 2: He's played in a lot of postseason games. I mean, bro,
- 25:19Speaker 2: you know he's going to pass both of them with
- 25:22Speaker 2: The way he keeps doing it is Kyle Schwarber. I
- 25:24Speaker 2: think he hit his 23rd or 24th today. Let's go, Schwartz. Bro,
- 25:28Speaker 2: the experienced Astros, a lot of guys on that team
- 25:33Speaker 2: have a lot of playoff experience, just looked overmatched by
- 25:36Speaker 2: the White Sox. The White Sox deserve to move on, man.
- 25:41Speaker 2: They are just, they're vibes, bro. Will Venable, congratulations. Chris Zanorfia,
- 25:46Speaker 2: friends of the program.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Did you see Chase Mydraw's scream when he hit that
- 25:52Speaker 1: home run.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Bro, that's the definition of this team. The dugout erupting,
- 25:59Speaker 2: guys just pouring into each other. It's the best feeling
- 26:02Speaker 2: in the world as a baseball player when you have
- 26:05Speaker 2: this type of camaraderie with your guys. I mean, we
- 26:08Speaker 2: have a video of them celebrating after the game. You
- 26:12Speaker 2: gotta tell me, what are you feeling right now? It's cinema.
- 26:13Speaker 1: 100! 100, not 1,000 this time? Yeah, 100! I'm Japanese!
- 26:22Speaker 1: It's early in Japan.
- 26:23Speaker 2: They're celebrating with you.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Anything you want to say to them?
- 26:26Speaker 2: Same, hi.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Same, same.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Same. Yeah, he's drunk.
- 26:29Speaker 1: He's drunk! He's drunk.
- 26:31Speaker 2: But he's drunk!
- 26:32Speaker 1: Yeah. You told me you.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Didn't need him.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I'm drunk! I'm drunk! Yeah, yesterday, maybe hungover, you know? Yeah.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Tomorrow hungover. Yes! No, no, yesterday, tomorrow.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Yeah, sorry. I don't speak English.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Is there anything like today? No, there's nothing like today,
- 26:52Speaker 1: and there's nothing like tomorrow. Live in the present.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Mike, your thoughts about going to Cleveland? My thoughts about
- 26:59Speaker 3: going to Cleveland?
- 27:00Speaker 2: That's right, sir.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Well, what we're going to do, we're going to get
- 27:03Speaker 3: on a plane, and we're going to head to Cleveland, Ohio.
- 27:06Speaker 3: Somebody's pouring alcohol down my pants.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Sure.
- 27:09Speaker 3: And what we're going to do is we're going to
- 27:10Speaker 3: show up, play White Sox baseball, and we're going to
- 27:13Speaker 3: kick some ass.
- 27:14Speaker 2: All right, Mike, go get them.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Come on. Yeah.
- 27:18Speaker 2: The only thing better there is if you would have
- 27:19Speaker 2: been Steve Austin and slammed the beers together, right? That
- 27:22Speaker 2: was great. But, dude, that's just– I think the best
- 27:26Speaker 2: compliment you can ever get when you're in the big
- 27:28Speaker 2: leagues is when someone tells you, you guys are playing
- 27:30Speaker 2: like kids. And that's what that looks like there. There are–
- 27:34Speaker 2: Looks like they're just genuinely having fun. Morikama comes over
- 27:39Speaker 2: from Japan. Doesn't get maybe the offers he thinks that
- 27:43Speaker 2: he was going to get. The White Sox take, I guess,
- 27:45Speaker 2: a chance on him. What a great signing by Chris Goetz.
- 27:49Speaker 2: And goes off. And then Mike Vassell is like, dude,
- 27:56Speaker 2: this guy's an unsung hero of this team. He had
- 27:58Speaker 2: Tommy John surgery to start the year. And he's... When
- 28:03Speaker 2: you have Tommy John surgery and you're out for the season,
- 28:04Speaker 2: you don't travel with the team. He was such a
- 28:06Speaker 2: vibe for this team. They started bringing him on the
- 28:08Speaker 2: road throughout the year to keep the vibes up for
- 28:10Speaker 2: that team. It's just so much fun to watch this team.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I know some Northside Chicago Cubs fans don't like that,
- 28:19Speaker 2: especially with the Cubs losing, but this team's easy to
- 28:22Speaker 2: root for.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Yeah, they definitely are. Congrats to Will. The vibes are high, man.
- 28:27Speaker 1: It's fun to bunch of fine teams that you can
- 28:31Speaker 1: relate to and they are they are just kids i
- 28:33Speaker 1: think six of their starters are like with two years
- 28:36Speaker 1: or less experience so the the quality of bats controlling
- 28:40Speaker 1: the strike zone man they just they they did it
- 28:42Speaker 1: they're doing it they've done it all year uh under
- 28:45Speaker 1: the radar underdogs and it's going to be a really
- 28:48Speaker 1: good series in cleveland.
- 28:50Speaker 2: And now they get to get on a plane and
- 28:52Speaker 2: go kick some ass in cleveland but the beauty is
- 28:55Speaker 2: rossi just like in 2015 we beat the pirates in
- 28:58Speaker 2: the wildcard, and then we get to go play the Cardinals,
- 29:00Speaker 2: who we're also super familiar with. So these guys are
- 29:04Speaker 2: going into another postseason round with momentum, popping champagne again,
- 29:11Speaker 2: and they get to play a team that they're so
- 29:13Speaker 2: familiar with so they can really just settle in and
- 29:15Speaker 2: play baseball and not let, hopefully, the moment of what
- 29:19Speaker 2: they're doing right now get to them.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt. No doubt. Now let's get to the
- 29:24Speaker 1: bad news. The other team in Chicago are Cubbies. They
- 29:30Speaker 1: went cold, man. I didn't see that one coming.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Number one offense in the league. Bro, this is what happens.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Two games, man. It's a two-game series. and it happens.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Teams go get hot and get cold, and it's unfortunate.
- 29:45Speaker 2: The Padres sweeping them behind elite pitching. Michael King and
- 29:49Speaker 2: Nick Pavetta. That home field advantage there looked insane.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Insane, bro.
- 29:56Speaker 2: From Jump Street. From the very first pitch the Cubs threw.
- 29:59Speaker 2: or very first at bat, Fernando Tatis hitting the home run,
- 30:02Speaker 2: it was just, oh, fuck. That's what I felt. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Well, it sounded like they had the towels out. They
- 30:09Speaker 1: kept doing shots on TV of, like, the aerial view,
- 30:13Speaker 1: and it looked like packed to the rafters, man. Like,
- 30:15Speaker 1: it was impressive. The white, excuse me, the Padres are
- 30:21Speaker 1: a vibe as well. I mean, they've got a good
- 30:23Speaker 1: thing going over there. Everybody, I mean, Tatis, it was,
- 30:27Speaker 1: the lineup, when you look at it in the production,
- 30:30Speaker 1: you were looking at like Jackson Merrill, uh, Ty France.
- 30:34Speaker 1: It's not just a piece of Machado. Like Gavin sheets. Like, yeah,
- 30:39Speaker 1: like it was, it was all every guy and the
- 30:42Speaker 1: pitching staff. And then they go, you see how dominant
- 30:44Speaker 1: that bullpen is. And those guys can go multiples down there.
- 30:47Speaker 1: You knew that was a strength, but to watch it
- 30:49Speaker 1: play out against a really good offense in Chicago that I,
- 30:52Speaker 1: you know, we want to talk about them not hitting
- 30:55Speaker 1: and them not having much to cheer about, but, I
- 30:57Speaker 1: think a lot of that credit has to go to
- 30:58Speaker 1: the Padres pitching staff, and the starters outperformed my expectations.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, the Cubs going so cold, it's just unfortunate.
- 31:07Speaker 2: PCA 0-7, Bregman 0-8, Dansby 0-6, Happer 0-6. So it's tough, man.
- 31:15Speaker 2: There was high expectations coming into the year for this
- 31:17Speaker 2: Cubs team, and I know they dealt with a lot
- 31:20Speaker 2: of adversity on the pitching end. They played amazing defense,
- 31:24Speaker 2: best defense. best offense in the league. They lost a
- 31:29Speaker 2: home field advantage, and it ended up costing them. I
- 31:33Speaker 2: know I said I wanted them to be road dogs
- 31:35Speaker 2: because I didn't think just home field for the wild
- 31:37Speaker 2: card round would get them to the World Series, but
- 31:41Speaker 2: they just ran into a Padres team that is the
- 31:43Speaker 2: best team in baseball right now. I saw a stat.
- 31:47Speaker 2: I believe the Padres are 19-3 since Manny Machado dyed
- 31:51Speaker 2: his hair blonde. How about that for a stat?
- 31:54Speaker 1: Oh, how about that stat? what Buster had said since
- 31:56Speaker 1: there was, I don't remember the date, but he said
- 31:59Speaker 1: they're on a pace of like a hundred and, you know, 20,
- 32:03Speaker 1: some kind of crazy number 21 pace since they got hot.
- 32:07Speaker 1: So they are definitely dominant and it does look like
- 32:10Speaker 1: there may be the, you know, we'll see what Milwaukee
- 32:13Speaker 1: has to offer, but, Um, they, uh, they, they, they've got, uh,
- 32:18Speaker 1: a vibe there and it looks like the, the road
- 32:20Speaker 1: to the world series could go through San Diego. It was,
- 32:24Speaker 1: it was electric, man.
- 32:25Speaker 2: I tell you what, I know the Milwaukee Brewers definitely
- 32:27Speaker 2: wanted to play the Cubs and not the Padres.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Well, I want to go back to the point you
- 32:32Speaker 1: made and, and we, we made this, I made this
- 32:35Speaker 1: not to toot my own horn, but I really felt
- 32:38Speaker 1: like home field advantage. What you just said was so
- 32:40Speaker 1: important for Chicago. And they didn't play well down the
- 32:42Speaker 1: stretch to kind of take that over, and the Padres did.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Phillies didn't either. And so somebody could have taken that
- 32:49Speaker 1: and just didn't play their best baseball down the stretch,
- 32:52Speaker 1: and it cost them, in my opinion.
- 32:54Speaker 2: No doubt. I mean, Craig Council pulling Gosman in the fourth, right,
- 32:59Speaker 2: after it's one out, Bogart hits a double, and you
- 33:02Speaker 2: pull him to bring in Palencia, who still, you know,
- 33:06Speaker 2: he's been better of late but didn't come back the
- 33:08Speaker 2: same guy. And then Gavin Sheets hitting that home run
- 33:11Speaker 2: in the fourth. It's just... It felt over. It felt
- 33:15Speaker 2: over right there. And it's unfortunate because the expectations and... Look,
- 33:22Speaker 2: the expectation in Chicago is to win a World Series.
- 33:24Speaker 2: And it's... This offseason, the guys are going to go
- 33:28Speaker 2: in and hopefully this fuels them to be better. And
- 33:31Speaker 2: they have to catch the Brewers. The Brewers have set
- 33:34Speaker 2: the gold standard in the NL Central. They've won the
- 33:36Speaker 2: NL Central... The last four years, this isn't a cute
- 33:39Speaker 2: little team anymore that Pat Murphy likes to say, oh,
- 33:42Speaker 2: nobody knows who we are. You've won the NL Central
- 33:44Speaker 2: the last four years. You're the gold standard right now
- 33:47Speaker 2: in the National League Central.
- 33:49Speaker 1: No doubt. Well, last point for me on the Cubs. Like,
- 33:53Speaker 1: there's a lot of positive that happened in Chicago this
- 33:55Speaker 1: year with Pete Bregman. Like, you know, hopefully next year
- 33:59Speaker 1: they get Steely back and Kate Horton. Like, There's a
- 34:02Speaker 1: lot of positive, but they're going to have to do
- 34:04Speaker 1: something about, you know, Happer's a free agent, Say is
- 34:07Speaker 1: a free agent. They've got some guys that they're going
- 34:09Speaker 1: to have to retool, but there's a lot to look
- 34:11Speaker 1: forward to if you're a Cubs fan for next year.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I know right now it doesn't feel like it, but
- 34:16Speaker 1: they've got a good core.
- 34:18Speaker 2: No doubt. And with those pitchers coming back, maybe go
- 34:21Speaker 2: out and sign a few bullpen arms, which isn't easy, right?
- 34:25Speaker 2: You can identify some guys. Easy for me to say.
- 34:28Speaker 2: It's not my money.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that's not really Jed's forte. He's
- 34:33Speaker 1: going to, you know, he doesn't usually put a lot
- 34:36Speaker 1: of money down the bullpen.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Yeah, so, I mean, it's just a tough ending for
- 34:41Speaker 2: Cubs fans, for the team, but an exciting time to
- 34:46Speaker 2: be a Padres fan, right?
- 34:47Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Their new owners are dancing and all happy, and vibes
- 34:52Speaker 2: are high in San Diego, right?
- 34:54Speaker 1: Vibes are high.
- 34:55Speaker 2: I love it. I love it. Let's get to our,
- 34:59Speaker 2: like I said, I love the wild card round. It's amazing.
- 35:03Speaker 2: It's amazing.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Well, because it feels do or die, right? Like the
- 35:06Speaker 1: short series is like, it doesn't matter. You don't have
- 35:09Speaker 1: time to get comfortable in the box. You don't have
- 35:11Speaker 1: time to like get the feel. Like we're going to
- 35:13Speaker 1: the bullpen. If you start giving up runs, Hunter Brown
- 35:15Speaker 1: out in the first inning, like there's no waiting around
- 35:18Speaker 1: in this wild card series. And that's what I think
- 35:20Speaker 1: makes it so exciting and the best way to kick
- 35:22Speaker 1: off the postseason. Yeah.
- 35:23Speaker 2: I mean, the Phillies blow a lead. in the first
- 35:28Speaker 2: game with their closer. The Braves blow a lead late
- 35:31Speaker 2: in the game today, right? The Padres first at bat
- 35:37Speaker 2: of the series home run. Yankees, Red Sox are in tight, like,
- 35:43Speaker 2: tense games in the Bronx until the Yankees blow it open.
- 35:46Speaker 2: So it's just must-watch. One swing can change the entire series,
- 35:51Speaker 2: and that's happened in these series so far.

- 37:13Speaker 2: This is just day two, Rossi.
- 37:16Speaker 1: I know. It's crazy. I always feel like I'm on
- 37:18Speaker 1: the grind.
- 37:19Speaker 2: First question is an email from Luke.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Come on, Luke.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Your top three favorite away clubhouses and top three worst
- 37:27Speaker 2: away clubhouses.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 37:30Speaker 2: The worst is Universal, right?
- 37:32Speaker 1: Right. Yeah.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Wait, say it on three. Say it on three. The worst.
- 37:36Speaker 1: No, hold on. Hold on. Worst. Oh, yeah, yeah. Okay,
- 37:38Speaker 1: I'm ready.
- 37:38Speaker 2: One, two, three.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Oakland. St. Louis. Who do you got?
- 37:43Speaker 2: Oakland.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Oakland. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oakland for sure.
- 37:47Speaker 1: For sure. For sure. For sure. No doubt.
- 37:50Speaker 2: I always... St.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Louis, to me, had to... It's all based on the food, right? Like,
- 37:55Speaker 1: the food is everything.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Food in St. Louis was tough.
- 37:57Speaker 1: St. Louis is tough. It's a grind. But they bring in...
- 38:00Speaker 1: When they bring in the barbecue at the last day,
- 38:02Speaker 1: it always makes it better. They bring in that St.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Louis barbecue. That's all. With the Cubs, the barbecue always
- 38:07Speaker 2: happened to be dried out, you know?
- 38:11Speaker 1: I'm going to go positive. Again, we went negative, first
- 38:14Speaker 1: of all. I'm going positive. Hands down, Yankee Stadium. Hands down.
- 38:19Speaker 1: down that's the food there yeah the food there's and
- 38:23Speaker 1: crazy uh Lou it runs a tight ship the guys
- 38:27Speaker 1: around there anything you want like they'll go get you
- 38:31Speaker 1: autographs from like when you're playing against Jeter and these
- 38:33Speaker 1: guys like little things like that for charity it's just
- 38:36Speaker 1: run the security around there's tight like.
- 38:38Speaker 2: This postgame spreads oh my.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Gosh it's like made to order pasta bar they're filling
- 38:43Speaker 1: you up making you nice and fat before you.
- 38:45Speaker 2: Go out there and play oh yeah So Yankees by
- 38:48Speaker 2: far visiting number one. I would say the, I like
- 38:55Speaker 2: the Mets too, bro.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Mets is good.
- 38:57Speaker 2: New York, the food. And then another, I.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Love when they do a little, uh, shake shack, like
- 39:04Speaker 1: right before or during games, my runs down, like give
- 39:07Speaker 1: you a little nice shake shack pizza.
- 39:08Speaker 2: They got it. They got every.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Latin, the Latin food that they bring in too is unbelievable.
- 39:13Speaker 1: I love me some, some fresh cold meat.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Uh, um, I love Philly because of the cheesesteaks.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Cheesesteaks.
- 39:20Speaker 2: That's cheesesteaks in Philadelphia from the visiting clubhouse. But the Braves,
- 39:26Speaker 2: Truist Park is amazing. And then the new one in Texas.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Globe Life. I don't know if you've been in there, Ross.
- 39:31Speaker 2: I never played Texas. It's fucking huge, bro.
- 39:34Speaker 1: It's huge.
- 39:37Speaker 2: They have buttons you can hit to call the clubbies. Really? Yeah,
- 39:40Speaker 2: it's awesome. That's number one for me. Really?
- 39:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Nice. Nice. I was going to say the Braves,
- 39:48Speaker 1: the Braves used to not be any good and they
- 39:49Speaker 1: moved to Truist and they, they got the, uh, what
- 39:52Speaker 1: cooking on wood or that group that like makes you
- 39:54Speaker 1: fresh stuff or cooking with wood. I think it's called, um,
- 39:57Speaker 1: they got, they got the Braves has stepped it up
- 40:00Speaker 1: over there. That was, that was good.
- 40:01Speaker 2: But you know what I, uh, I love most about
- 40:05Speaker 2: the Rangers visiting clubhouse is they have pictures of their
- 40:09Speaker 2: home clubhouse in there. So like when it's attracting free agents,
- 40:13Speaker 2: Just being like, fuck you, our home clubhouse is way
- 40:16Speaker 2: better than all of yours. And it has all their equipment,
- 40:18Speaker 2: their weight room, their recovery rooms. It's pretty cool.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I wish I got to play there. I wish I
- 40:24Speaker 1: got to play there. All right, next email. You want
- 40:28Speaker 1: to go bad ones? Let's not bury everybody.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Oakland definitely stinks. I'm not a fan. But they have
- 40:32Speaker 2: great guys in the clubhouse there, so I always enjoy
- 40:35Speaker 2: going to Boston.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Milwaukee... Milwaukee to me. Milwaukee, what do you mean, bro?
- 40:40Speaker 1: They got those broads, bro. Those broads. I'm not a
- 40:43Speaker 1: broad guy.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Dude, Phil in Milwaukee is the GOAT. I love Phil.
- 40:49Speaker 2: He would make me banana bread every time we went. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 40:54Speaker 2: He's the GOAT. I love banana bread.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't want to blaspheme those guys. Those guys
- 40:58Speaker 1: take care of you. Next email from Guy Carafa. I
- 41:03Speaker 1: hope I'm saying that right. What do you both think
- 41:06Speaker 1: of people seemingly using these challenges at poor times. Will
- 41:10Speaker 1: it come back to bite someone in the postseason? Man,
- 41:14Speaker 1: I thought, first of all, there's some really good challenges
- 41:17Speaker 1: in the Braves games that, like, they got a lot
- 41:19Speaker 1: of them right. A ton of them. JT Arremuto, one
- 41:21Speaker 1: of the best in the game. I had a little
- 41:23Speaker 1: bit of a problem with the PCA punch out today
- 41:26Speaker 1: to start the game.
- 41:27Speaker 2: That's just pure emotion, bro.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Yeah. And honestly, it can't happen. They used their two
- 41:33Speaker 1: early today, and they... They weren't really at that borderline.
- 41:38Speaker 1: They're trying to grind offensively when you're struggling that bad.
- 41:42Speaker 1: You're trying to get anything to.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Go your way.
- 41:44Speaker 1: There definitely could have been some emotion involved.
- 41:47Speaker 2: I think, too, look at what happened at the end
- 41:50Speaker 2: of the game in the Phillies game. The Phillies won
- 41:52Speaker 2: by JT challenging that pitch. If they're out of challenges
- 41:56Speaker 2: and JT can't challenge that.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Who knows what happens.
- 42:00Speaker 2: You know what I mean? You have to be really strategic.
- 42:03Speaker 2: We talked about this today on our broadcast for the
- 42:07Speaker 2: game about maybe major league baseball implementing another challenge in
- 42:13Speaker 2: the playoffs. So each team gets three challenges, but you
- 42:16Speaker 2: do have to be very strategic and be convicted. It
- 42:19Speaker 2: has to be in a high leverage situation for sure.
- 42:21Speaker 1: No doubt. No doubt.
- 42:23Speaker 2: A last email from James Riley. Did you guys collect
- 42:26Speaker 2: baseball cards when you were young? And what is it
- 42:28Speaker 2: like seeing the, their first few cards released, man?
- 42:33Speaker 1: I didn't re, I didn't collect baseball cards as a kid.
- 42:36Speaker 1: I had a buddy that did. It wasn't kind of
- 42:38Speaker 1: my thing, but it's gotten so much attention lately. I'm
- 42:41Speaker 1: kind of like, man, maybe I should just go buy
- 42:44Speaker 1: a box and just, you know, what they call it,
- 42:46Speaker 1: like rip them.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Rip.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Rip wax.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Rip a pack. Rip a pack. Let's go. Yeah, sorry.
- 42:54Speaker 1: I'm showing my age here. But when you get your
- 42:57Speaker 1: first card, like as a player, that's some cool stuff.
- 43:00Speaker 1: My mom, one time, cool story. she gave me for
- 43:04Speaker 1: Christmas a baseball card book with every card that had
- 43:08Speaker 1: ever been made of me. It was a really cool gift.
- 43:11Speaker 1: I've got that at the house and something I cherish.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Cause it's like, you know, you get, you sign stuff
- 43:15Speaker 1: all the time and want a new one would pop
- 43:17Speaker 1: up every once in a while. And you're like, Oh,
- 43:18Speaker 1: that's really cool. But when you have all your baseball
- 43:21Speaker 1: cards and, and you know, you turn into a kid
- 43:24Speaker 1: when you get to sign your first card and you
- 43:26Speaker 1: get your rookie card and all that stuff, like what
- 43:28Speaker 1: a cool, cool thing to have. It's like seeing somebody
- 43:30Speaker 1: in the, in the stands, You way more than me,
- 43:33Speaker 1: but when you see somebody in the stands wearing your
- 43:35Speaker 1: jersey or something like that, it doesn't get any cooler
- 43:38Speaker 1: than that.
- 43:38Speaker 2: That is the coolest thing ever. When I got traded,
- 43:43Speaker 2: pretty much every road city we would go to with
- 43:45Speaker 2: the Yankees, I'd see Cubs jerseys there coming to the game,
- 43:49Speaker 2: and I thought that was the coolest thing. But the cards, yeah,
- 43:51Speaker 2: their first cards, especially I was with the Red Sox,
- 43:55Speaker 2: so many different teams, right? Red Sox, Padres, Yankees, Cubs.
- 44:00Speaker 2: So it's so cool to have all the different varieties.
- 44:03Speaker 2: I collected, starting in 2021, Jock Peterson got me on
- 44:10Speaker 2: basketball cards. Really? And I was looking for the Lomelo
- 44:14Speaker 2: ball rookie card, right? And it was this phase. And
- 44:17Speaker 2: in spring training, we would just be ripping cards, trying
- 44:19Speaker 2: to get the Lomelo one of one or whatever it was.
- 44:22Speaker 2: And there was just, ended up having stacks in my locker.
- 44:27Speaker 2: And I was like, what the fuck am I doing? Right?
- 44:29Speaker 2: And because it blew up.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Now you got guys just pulling these insane cards that
- 44:35Speaker 2: are worth so much money. One of my friends just
- 44:38Speaker 2: texted me a PCA card that he just bought for
- 44:40Speaker 2: a few hundred thousand dollars that he's like, this card's
- 44:43Speaker 2: going to be worth over a million dollars here pretty soon.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Wow.
- 44:46Speaker 2: It's a, it's a legit hobby and I'm not into it.
- 44:50Speaker 1: We might need to rip a pack or two on,
- 44:53Speaker 1: on our show one day.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Do some live rips.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Just go lose a couple of live rips for the folks.
- 44:58Speaker 1: But yeah, Send some more emails, see if anybody wants
- 45:00Speaker 1: us to rip a couple card packs here, maybe after
- 45:03Speaker 1: the postseason to see if we get something good.
- 45:06Speaker 2: No doubt. Well, we will be coming back to you
- 45:10Speaker 2: after this Phillies-Braves elimination game. With all of our feedback,
- 45:15Speaker 2: we thank everyone for listening. We're just getting started, day
- 45:18Speaker 2: two of the wild card. We can't wait for tomorrow,
- 45:21Speaker 2: day three. Thank you for watching. Again, rossandrizzo at gmail.com.
- 45:26Speaker 2: I'm Anthony Rizzo with my partner, David Ross, and we
- 45:29Speaker 2: are Ross and Rizzo Unfiltered.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Peace. Peace. We love you guys.
