- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here. Hello, it's Yvonne 2.
- 0:16Happy Friday. Thank you, friends.
- 0:18Honey, you've got to say hello, friends.
- 0:19Hello friends, I think you have the trademark on that phrase at
- 0:23the moment. No, it's everyone's to enjoy and
- 0:25share. Oh.
- 0:27Hello everyone. Oh, hello friends.
- 0:30Great to have your company. It's the 29th, we are almost
- 0:34done with May and it about to be June.
- 0:36Wow, and it feels like winter is upon us in our neck of the
- 0:40woods. And particularly we've walked
- 0:42into the room where we're recording and the heating has
- 0:44not been on here and it's a wee bit chilly.
- 0:48A little bracey. What are some of our other
- 0:50euphemisms for cold? Don't say cold.
- 0:53We say it's fresh, it's brisk. Yes, a little nippy.
- 0:59Yes, but very seldom cold. Yes, Yeah.
- 1:03No admitting that it's cold. That's yeah.
- 1:06But cold, warm, fresh or or bracing, we are going to go back
- 1:12to a warmer part of the world. When I imagine King Solomon, I
- 1:15imagine him being warm. Yeah, I'm picturing.
- 1:18Yeah, definitely sunshine and dates.
- 1:21So we're gonna sit as he chews on some dates and sprout some
- 1:26knowledge to us via this ancient text.
- 1:30Proverbs 24 8 to 14. A person who plans evil will get
- 1:45a reputation as a troublemaker. The schemes of a fool are
- 1:49sinful. Everyone detests a mocha.
- 1:54If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small.
- 1:59Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die.
- 2:03Save them as they stagger to their death.
- 2:06Don't excuse yourself by saying look, we didn't know, for God
- 2:10understands all hearts and he sees you.
- 2:14He who guards your soul knows you knew he will repay all
- 2:18people as their actions deserve. My child eat honey for it is
- 2:24good and the honeycomb is sweet to the taste.
- 2:28In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul.
- 2:32If you find it, you will have a bright future and your hopes
- 2:37will not be cut short. And again.
- 2:43A person who plans evil will get a reputation as a troublemaker.
- 2:48The schemes of a fool are sinful.
- 2:50Everyone detests a mocha. If you fail under pressure, your
- 2:56strength is too small. Rescue those who are unjustly
- 3:01sentenced to die. Save them as they stagger to
- 3:04their death. Don't excuse yourself by saying
- 3:08look, we didn't know, for God understands all hearts and he
- 3:14sees you. He who guards your soul knows
- 3:18you knew he will repay all people as their actions deserve.
- 3:23My child eat honey for it is good and the honeycomb is sweet
- 3:28to the taste. In the same way wisdom is sweet
- 3:32to your soul, if you find it, you will have a bright future
- 3:36and your hopes will not be cut short.
- 3:49Well, that's a spicy 1, isn't it?
- 3:52Haha oh I loved the ending. Talking about wisdom being sweet
- 3:56for our souls and just ah. If you find it you'll have a
- 3:59bright future. I love that part.
- 4:01That is lovely. Yeah, I, I actually really
- 4:05appreciate the part before that says, you know, so often we try
- 4:08to convince people of things, right?
- 4:10We we play tricks and we we try to make excuses that sound
- 4:14really convincing and can convince people that we were
- 4:18actually in the right when we know in our heart of hearts we
- 4:21should have been doing things slightly differently.
- 4:23And this just says God sees through to the heart of it.
- 4:28Yeah, there's a fair bit of accountability in that section,
- 4:31isn't there? Just yeah, we always have
- 4:34someone who who knows our actual intentions.
- 4:37And even when our intentions are no good, if we come with
- 4:42repentant hearts, Jesus has won forgiveness for us.
- 4:46And I think that is just the the beautiful kind of tie in there
- 4:49that even though God understands our motives, which are often not
- 4:52great, we are forgiven people. And I guess when it says he sees
- 4:58us, isn't just he sees what we've done that's wrong, but
- 5:03just that he sees us like he gets us, he understands us and
- 5:08he loves us. Oh Lord, thank you that your
- 5:13wise, all knowing eyes see us and they see us in our broken
- 5:19state and they see us tempted and challenged by the
- 5:23difficulties of life. But at the same time, when you
- 5:26look at us, Father, you see Jesus and you see his
- 5:29perfection, one for us and given freely to us.
- 5:34Ah, we just thank you for this paradox that we might be broken
- 5:38people, but we are whole and perfect in Christ.
- 5:43So we thank you and we thank you for your wisdom that helps us to
- 5:47understand the truths about you thought.
- 5:50I pray that your wisdom may be the thing that resonates in our
- 5:53minds today and draws US ever closer to you and living in the
- 5:57truth of the promises that we have in you, your forgiveness
- 6:01and your grace. And we love you and we're
- 6:04thankful for everything that you've done for us.
- 6:06And we pray this in that saving name of Jesus, Amen.
- 6:10Amen.
