- 0:00Speaker 1: You are not going to like this, Christine.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Excuse me?
- 0:03Speaker 1: You're not going to be happy. I'm telling you. It's
- 0:05Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine. Kristen producing. Kristen just gave
- 0:08Speaker 1: me an article here. It says if you're looking for
- 0:11Speaker 1: a spooky Halloween road trip, forget Salem. Forget New Orleans.
- 0:15Speaker 2: What?
- 0:16Speaker 1: You've been there multiple times. You swear that they are
- 0:19Speaker 1: the spookiest towns, and I think they still are.
- 0:21Speaker 2: For like a good reason, yeah.
- 0:23Speaker 1: But a new study says the spookiest city in America
- 0:27Speaker 1: is actually Virginia City, Nevada. The former Wild West mining
- 0:32Speaker 1: town topped the list thanks to its huge number of
- 0:35Speaker 1: haunted attractions, ghostly legends, spiritual shops, and paranormal activity. Coming
- 0:41Speaker 1: in right behind that is Tombstone, Arizona. They make pizza.
- 0:46Speaker 1: They do, really?
- 0:47Speaker 2: I'm kidding. Oh, Tombstone. Sorry.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Maybe it does come from there. Come on, I'm sorry. No,
- 0:52Speaker 1: you're fine. Famous for its Old West history and Eureka Springs, Arkansas,
- 0:58Speaker 1: another hot spot for ghost tours and haunted mansions. Meanwhile,
- 1:02Speaker 1: traditional Halloween favorites like Salem and New Orleans and Savannah, Georgia,
- 1:07Speaker 1: they didn't even crack the top three. You're kidding. The
- 1:09Speaker 1: study also found that interest in paranormal travel is booming
- 1:13Speaker 1: with searches for haunted hotels skyrocketing in recent years. Wow.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I kind of think I would do a hotel that
- 1:20Speaker 1: was haunted.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Um, okay.
- 1:23Speaker 1: That's about it.
- 1:24Speaker 2: You would do a hotel?
- 1:24Speaker 1: I would do a hotel because you can get out
- 1:26Speaker 1: of there if you need to.
- 1:27Speaker 2: What about a haunted house?
- 1:29Speaker 1: I like haunted houses.
- 1:31Speaker 2: You like it? No, but I'm saying... Like a real
- 1:33Speaker 2: house that is technically haunted?
- 1:35Speaker 1: I think they're the ones that pop up on Halloween.
- 1:37Speaker 2: There's a survey from Clever Real Estate and they said
- 1:40Speaker 2: over half of Americans would buy a haunted house. They're like, yeah,
- 1:43Speaker 2: it's okay. I don't mind.
- 1:45Speaker 1: That's a great question for our big audience here. Yeah.
- 1:47Speaker 1: There has to be somebody out there that has purchased
- 1:49Speaker 1: a home knowing it's maybe haunted or something bad has happened.
- 1:53Speaker 2: And you still bought it.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Yeah, give us a text. What about you? No. You
- 1:58Speaker 1: wouldn't do it?
- 1:59Speaker 2: No.
- 2:00Speaker 1: What if it's a really nice house?
- 2:01Speaker 2: Well, here's the thing.
- 2:02Speaker 1: They said that- At a really good price.
- 2:03Speaker 2: When they up the ante, right? When they say, what
- 2:06Speaker 2: about if we drop the price? Then even more people, 62%
- 2:09Speaker 2: of people are on board. And then if you lower
- 2:13Speaker 2: the property taxes, bing, bing, bing, even more people are in.
- 2:17Speaker 2: So maybe you're kind of swaying me at that point.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Because it does.
- 2:21Speaker 2: It takes a lot to own a house. But no,
- 2:23Speaker 2: I don't think I would intentionally buy a haunted house.
- 2:26Speaker 1: You're like a hard no, right? But then you think
- 2:29Speaker 1: about money. If the money drops, you're a hard yes.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah, but what if you get in there and then
- 2:33Speaker 2: you're just going to have to move anyway because the
- 2:35Speaker 2: ghosts don't like you?
- 2:36Speaker 1: No. Well, you know what I always think about? I
- 2:38Speaker 1: think about the Amityville Horror House a lot. The one
- 2:40Speaker 1: on Long Island. Not haunted, but we know what happened
- 2:42Speaker 1: there back in the 70s. The movie scared the heck
- 2:45Speaker 1: out of me. And I've driven by that house. And
- 2:48Speaker 1: it's a beautiful home.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:50Speaker 1: And I'm still blown away that people live there. And
- 2:53Speaker 1: I wonder what their mind state is. Yeah. They bought
- 2:57Speaker 1: knowing what happened. And I think multiple people have lived
- 2:59Speaker 1: in there since 1974. And have said it's okay. And
- 3:02Speaker 1: said it's okay.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 1: But that house always gets me. Maybe because it's local, too.
- 3:07Speaker 1: It's not far from here.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And we know about it.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yeah. If you were going around with a realtor and
- 3:11Speaker 2: they said, oh, somebody died here. This house is said
- 3:14Speaker 2: to be haunted. Would you still buy the house?
- 3:16Speaker 1: Give us a text at 44363. Last thing, remember that
- 3:20Speaker 1: house that was getting weird notes a couple years ago?
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yes, that was New Jersey, too.
- 3:24Speaker 1: That was New Jersey, wasn't it?
- 3:25Speaker 2: There was like a, was it Netflix? Somebody did a
- 3:29Speaker 2: series on it.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Yeah, every time, Kristen, do you remember the story? She's
- 3:33Speaker 1: looking it up right now. Yeah, they receive letters. Every
- 3:34Speaker 1: time new people moved in, they get letters from anonymous people.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Yeah, like warning, get out of that house.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Get out of the house.
- 3:40Speaker 2: And it was enough to creep people out that they left.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Where is it? Westfield. Westfield. Westfield. That's right.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Oh, and Westfield's supposed to be really cool for trick-or-treating. Like,
- 3:48Speaker 2: the whole town's supposed to be haunted. The Addams Family house,
- 3:51Speaker 2: like the person who wrote it, that house is located
- 3:53Speaker 2: in Westfield.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Oh, the outside shots?
- 3:57Speaker 2: The person, the Addams Family, the person who wrote it.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Oh.
- 4:03Speaker 2: That's the house, so I guess it's based, yeah, on it.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Look, I.
- 4:08Speaker 2: We're asking a lot of me when it's not even
- 4:12Speaker 2: 7 in the morning.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Someone's up right now.
- 4:14Speaker 2: I'm just trying to give you cute little tidbits.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Go Google. I love the fun facts. Do you know
- 4:19Speaker 1: that a pumpkin is a berry, technically? Wait, what? Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 2: That sounds familiar.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Light FM.
