to 70x80, the section of 7080 .it that deepens
• 1:00
the topics discussed on the portal. I'm with
• 1:02
the journalist Enzo Mauri, who introduces the
• 1:05
today's topic. Good morning, today I'm talking
• 1:07
to you about a memorable April 1st. In Switzerland,
• 1:10
every year in this period, there is a very particular
• 1:14
  harvest festival. Teatro della Manifestazione
• 1:16
is the municipality of Morcote, on the shores
• 1:17
of the Lugano lake, in the Ticino canton, where
• 1:19
dozens of braccianti dedicate themselves to the
• 1:22
peculiarity of the place, the tree of the...
• 1:24
spaghetti it isn't only in Britain that spring
• 1:26
this year has taken everyone by surprise here
• 1:30
in the Ticino on the borders of Switzerland and
• 1:33
Italy the slopes overlooking Lake Lugano have
• 1:36
already burst into flower at least a fortnight
• 1:38
earlier than usual not, of course, carried out
• 2:08
on anything like the tremendous scale of the
• 2:10
Italian industry. Many of you, I'm sure, will
• 2:13
have seen pictures of the vast spaghetti plantations
• 2:16
in the Po Valley. For the Swiss however, it tends
• 2:19
to be more of a family affair. believed in anything,
• 2:48
even that spaghetti grow on trees. According
• 2:51
to another version of the facts, the finding
• 2:53
was published by Charles de Jaeger together with
• 2:55
Albert Kunzl, said advertising at the Swiss National
• 2:58
Office of London. The two had gone to lunch in
• 3:01
an Italian restaurant where they had chosen to
• 3:03
eat spaghetti alla bolognese and the plate suggested
• 3:06
to them the idea of the joke. Once they decided
• 3:08
to experiment the fish of April on the trees
• 3:11
of St. James Park, they noticed that the cooked
• 3:13
pasta fell from the branches. It went better
• 3:15
with the fresh one, After picking, the spaghetti
• 3:34
is laid out to dry in the warm alpine sun. MCL
• 3:38
Avvocati Associati www .lexmcl .it For the staging,
• 3:43
Charles de Jaeger chose some trees of gold on
• 3:46
the branches of which he hung wet spaghetti,
• 3:48
not cooked. Protagonists of the film were six
• 3:50
local workers, shot while collecting the spaghetti
• 3:54
and spreading them in the sun. Once cooked, the
• 3:56
pasta was served on the table in a restaurant
• 3:58
of the place called Taddei. Many people are often
• 4:01
puzzled by the fact that spaghetti is produced
• 4:03
at such uniform length. But this is the result
• 4:06
of many years of patient endeavor by plant breeders.
• 4:10
who've succeeded in producing the perfect spaghetti.
• 4:39
Love Song, by Walter Stout. It must be considered
• 4:58
that the joke worked because at the time in Great
• 5:01
Britain the spaghetti were little known and many
• 5:04
did not know the composition based on flour,
• 5:07
flour and water. It was estimated that that evening
• 5:09
at least 8 million viewers saw the program, in
• 5:12
hundreds they suffered calls from the BBC headquarters,
• 5:15
some unbelievers, others to ask for information
• 5:17
on the cultivation of the spaghetti tree. The
• 5:20
answer was put a branch in a box of pelati and
• 5:23
hope for the best. Years later the American CNN
• 5:26
defined that of the spaghetti tree, the biggest
• 5:29
buffalo that any respectable journalistic institution
• 5:32
has ever invented. Thanks to Enzo Mauri for the
• 5:35
today's theme. See you in the next episode of
