- 1:28Speaker 1: you everybody tuned in on whatever way you chose to
- 1:30Speaker 1: listen to this post game tonight. Again, as I mentioned,
- 1:32Speaker 1: the Sabers win this one by a four to two
- 1:34Speaker 1: final over the Tampa Bay Lightning with an empty netter
- 1:37Speaker 1: now tie to top the Atlantic Division with one hundred
- 1:40Speaker 1: and two points, tied with those at the Atlantic Division
- 1:44Speaker 1: leading Tampa Bay Lighting in a four point swing game.
- 1:46Speaker 1: The Sabers most points in a season since the two
- 1:48Speaker 1: thousand and six two thousand and seven season.
- 1:51Speaker 2: It's been an.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Incredible, you know, turn around for this team. The beer
- 1:54Speaker 1: Sabers were out tonight. The black and red jerseys were
- 1:57Speaker 1: out for the Sabers as well. A lot of great
- 1:59Speaker 1: stuff there. And look forward to talking with you guys
- 2:02Speaker 1: about it tonight. If you have any any thoughts on
- 2:03Speaker 1: the game as well, you can leave those in the
- 2:05Speaker 1: comments section below on whatever platform you're listening to this
- 2:08Speaker 1: live on the video version. Then I'll try to answer
- 2:11Speaker 1: the questions as best I can. Again, the Sabers. Yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 1: big victory after back to back disappointing performances and two
- 2:19Speaker 1: regulation losses to the Ottawa Senators and the Washington Capitals
- 2:23Speaker 1: where they were outsport ten to three in those two contests,
- 2:26Speaker 1: and then obviously, with the Montreal Canadians playing so well
- 2:28Speaker 1: right now, they were able to get ahead of the Sabers.
- 2:31Speaker 1: The Sabers fell all the way back to third place
- 2:33Speaker 1: in the Atlantic Division. With this victory, now they have
- 2:37Speaker 1: climbed two. Here we go as I pull it up
- 2:41Speaker 1: for you guys here on the screen, as I just
- 2:43Speaker 1: adjust things here, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Sabers
- 2:47Speaker 1: are now tied with one hundred and two points. Again,
- 2:49Speaker 1: the Savers have that one extra game played, so the
- 2:52Speaker 1: Tampa Bay Lightning with that game in hand, are technically
- 2:54Speaker 1: still leading the division. But massive game for the Sabers tonight.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Everybody knew what this game meant coming into it. Head
- 3:02Speaker 1: coach Lindi Ruff talks about it later in the postgame
- 3:04Speaker 1: as well, which we'll hear from him. But again, massive
- 3:07Speaker 1: victory for the Sabers. They leap frog the Montreal Canadians.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Montreal has that game in hand as well, so we'll
- 3:13Speaker 1: have to wait and see how this all shakes out
- 3:15Speaker 1: in the final four games for the Sabers and final
- 3:17Speaker 1: five games for the Lightning and the Canadians. But right
- 3:19Speaker 1: now the Sabers have that X beside their name. First
- 3:22Speaker 1: playoff appearance in fourteen seasons, fifteen years and the longest
- 3:26Speaker 1: tenured drought in North American pro sports now belongs to
- 3:30Speaker 1: the New York Football Jets. So best of luck to them,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I guess, But the Sabers get back in the win,
- 3:34Speaker 1: call them tonight and look forward to breaking this one
- 3:37Speaker 1: all down for you. We'll get things started with our
- 3:39Speaker 1: game stats is always brought to you by Jnel Flooring.
- 3:41Speaker 1: If you're think you get a better deal anywhere else
- 3:42Speaker 1: you don't know Jack, check them out at Jannel Flooring
- 3:45Speaker 1: dot com or visit der Niagara Falls location to begin
- 3:47Speaker 1: your quality flooring project today. Pull up the game stats
- 3:50Speaker 1: for you guys. If you weren't able to catch the
- 3:52Speaker 1: game tonight. It was a sold out barn at Key
- 3:56Speaker 1: Banks Center and an exciting atmosphere after what was spirited
- 4:00Speaker 1: eight to seven matchup in the last game, basically Game
- 4:04Speaker 1: of the Year candidate in the National Hockey League. The
- 4:07Speaker 1: last time these two teams faced off, so shots on
- 4:09Speaker 1: NET twenty five to twenty eight in favor of the Sabers.
- 4:12Speaker 1: The Sabers led in the shot department in the first
- 4:14Speaker 1: and second period eleven and then thirteen and then in
- 4:17Speaker 1: the In the final period, Tampa led nine to five,
- 4:21Speaker 1: but again trailing for most of it, trying to push
- 4:24Speaker 1: the pace there. The face off percentage was fifty two
- 4:27Speaker 1: point five percent of forty seven point five in favor
- 4:30Speaker 1: of Tampa Bay. Again no Sam Carrick for the Sabers,
- 4:33Speaker 1: still out with the injury. I should mention Jordan Greenway
- 4:36Speaker 1: got in the lineup tonight as well as Luke Schen
- 4:38Speaker 1: played on the third pair with Logan Stanley, and considering
- 4:42Speaker 1: how scrutinized that pairer has been the last few times
- 4:44Speaker 1: they've played together since coming over from Winnipeg, they brought
- 4:47Speaker 1: in some grit tonight and they didn't get completely exposed tonight,
- 4:51Speaker 1: so that was good. Obviously, you you sacrifice the mobility
- 4:54Speaker 1: when you don't put a Zach metz', Connor Timmins or
- 4:57Speaker 1: Michael kesselring in the lineup. But I thought that the
- 4:59Speaker 1: pair ring of Stanley and Schen didn't stand out in
- 5:02Speaker 1: any way, and that's a good thing for those two
- 5:04Speaker 1: if they if things didn't didn't go awry and they
- 5:07Speaker 1: didn't didn't get completely caught at a position.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Uh that that's a good thing. Obviously.
- 5:11Speaker 1: We know they're they're bigger types of defensemen in the
- 5:14Speaker 1: trees that Yarmakika line and talked about bringing in. So
- 5:17Speaker 1: uh they they did a decent job there on that
- 5:20Speaker 1: third pair tonight. I know, coming into the game, people
- 5:22Speaker 1: are looking at the lineup and saying, oh boy, what
- 5:24Speaker 1: is what is this going to look like? But for
- 5:26Speaker 1: the Sabers they held the four tonight and Greenway you know,
- 5:30Speaker 1: didn't he had I believe one one scoring opportunity in
- 5:33Speaker 1: the opening period, but didn't do anything too horrible. Uh
- 5:37Speaker 1: and again like didn't look completely out of place, even
- 5:39Speaker 1: though you know you'd want some of those other guys
- 5:41Speaker 1: in the lineup that that have been playing so well.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But no Sam Carrick for the Sabers continues to be
- 5:46Speaker 1: difficult on that faceoff dot so Tampa. Tampa led in
- 5:49Speaker 1: that category again. No Brandon Hagel. You know, whether whether
- 5:53Speaker 1: Sabers fans wanted them in tonight or not, we saw
- 5:55Speaker 1: before the game there were uh those uh I guess
- 5:58Speaker 1: though those punching bags outside the arena with Brandon Hagel
- 6:01Speaker 1: on it, and fans were getting a whack at him,
- 6:03Speaker 1: so obviously they wanted to see him in this game,
- 6:05Speaker 1: but he was out for Tampa Bay as well as
- 6:07Speaker 1: Anthony Sirelli, so that it made a difference as well
- 6:10Speaker 1: in a lineup. But moving forward, powerplay percentage tonight not
- 6:14Speaker 1: great for either team. Tampa was one for five on
- 6:16Speaker 1: the power play, Buffalo is zero for four, and man,
- 6:21Speaker 1: the power play, I can't even explain what has been
- 6:25Speaker 1: going on there, and it's not a lack of talent.
- 6:27Speaker 1: It's been happening all year, the inconsistencies there giving up
- 6:30Speaker 1: short handed opportunities and know Alex Tuck had a short
- 6:33Speaker 1: handed opportunity in Buffalo's way against Tampa Bay there, which
- 6:36Speaker 1: I'll get into when I start breaking this game down.
- 6:39Speaker 1: But yeah, the power play not there for Buffalo tonight.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Hits twenty eight, twenty two in favor of Tampa Bay.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Both teams with ten block shots, giveaways eighteen to thirteen
- 6:49Speaker 1: in favor of Tampa, so they had five more giveaways
- 6:51Speaker 1: and then takeaways five to four in favor of the Lightning.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Those are your game stats for the game.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Will move forward with our scoring summary tonight, brought to
- 6:58Speaker 1: you by the Nagar Employment Helps Center helping people find
- 7:00Speaker 1: work in the Niagara regions is nineteen eighty three. Check
- 7:03Speaker 1: out Third Diddy job board at EHC dot ow dot
- 7:05Speaker 1: you find your next work opportunity today. Get things forward
- 7:10Speaker 1: here with the scoring summary, Alex Tuck opened it up
- 7:13Speaker 1: for the Sabers and that was his thirtieth goal of
- 7:17Speaker 1: the season. He had taken a penalty just before that,
- 7:20Speaker 1: came out of the box, took the pass from Bowen
- 7:22Speaker 1: Byram and Ryan mcclod with the other assist on that one,
- 7:25Speaker 1: and Tuck is able to beat Vassilevski state skating down
- 7:29Speaker 1: the slot far side. Obviously not want to take a
- 7:33Speaker 1: penalty in that situation, but he gets to the Sabers
- 7:35Speaker 1: on the board with the opening goal in that opening
- 7:38Speaker 1: period and getting the crowd off to a good start
- 7:40Speaker 1: there for Buffalo, and Alex Tuck was obviously hyped up
- 7:44Speaker 1: in this game. Had a shift where he had the
- 7:47Speaker 1: four shots in a matter of seconds, so he was
- 7:50Speaker 1: very animated tonight and was obviously ready to go. We're
- 7:54Speaker 1: in that the black and red number eighty nine Jersey.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Then Tampa Bay tied the game on their lone power
- 7:59Speaker 1: play goal. In the lone power play goal for both
- 8:01Speaker 1: teams in that first period. It was a little bit
- 8:05Speaker 1: of of a weird play because Perry he had done
- 8:07Speaker 1: some stuff earlier in the game where he got hit
- 8:09Speaker 1: along the bench and maybe he took a few wax
- 8:12Speaker 1: with his stick on a few Sabers players on the bench.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And you know what you're gonna get with Corey Perry.
- 8:16Speaker 1: He heard it the live mic saying all night long,
- 8:19Speaker 1: all night long, he was going to try to play
- 8:21Speaker 1: the agitating game that he always does, so we expected
- 8:23Speaker 1: that from Corey Perry. He started the scrum after a
- 8:26Speaker 1: whistle and obviously, you know, doing what he does best,
- 8:29Speaker 1: able to bait the Sabers into taking a penalty. The
- 8:31Speaker 1: Sabers took the extra miner on that one three given
- 8:34Speaker 1: out total two to the Sabers, and Kutrov takes the
- 8:37Speaker 1: cross ice pass on the power play from from Genzl
- 8:40Speaker 1: and buries it and the Sabers just sort of lost Koutrov.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And that's definitely not a guy you want to lose
- 8:47Speaker 1: in defensive coverage on ah, especially when you're down a man,
- 8:50Speaker 1: to be able to leave him wide open for that
- 8:52Speaker 1: one time or in the in the right circle there
- 8:54Speaker 1: so he's able to blast that one home for his
- 8:58Speaker 1: forty third goal the season and try to keep pace
- 9:00Speaker 1: with McDavid for that the art Ross Trophy. The number
- 9:03Speaker 1: eighty six is not a guy you want to leave
- 9:05Speaker 1: wide open for in the high slot with with a
- 9:08Speaker 1: one timer opportunity, he buries it to make it one
- 9:10Speaker 1: to one. Shortly after, though, Josh Norris took the pass
- 9:13Speaker 1: on the right circle from Jason Zucker down low and
- 9:16Speaker 1: goes five hole. A great net front from Benson that
- 9:20Speaker 1: they sort of showed on the the intermission report for
- 9:23Speaker 1: the NHL Network was Zach Benson's net front and not
- 9:26Speaker 1: really was he looking for the pass on that play,
- 9:29Speaker 1: but he was just looking to sort of shadow into
- 9:33Speaker 1: Darren Radish there to to kind of take that to
- 9:36Speaker 1: take that away from him and open up the lane
- 9:38Speaker 1: for Josh Norris, who was a third man in the
- 9:40Speaker 1: third forward in the trailer, and they were able to
- 9:42Speaker 1: find him on that play, so Zach Benson doesn't necessarily
- 9:46Speaker 1: get involved in the play. He actually does get the
- 9:49Speaker 1: secondary as system the play, but just a great job
- 9:52Speaker 1: by the Savers being able to enter the zone they
- 9:54Speaker 1: look for that play the third man in the trailer
- 9:56Speaker 1: and Benson goes makes a smart play to the net,
- 9:59Speaker 1: not just going to to the net, but you know,
- 10:01Speaker 1: really really taking away the option of Radish trying to
- 10:04Speaker 1: to make that play in front of the net. So
- 10:06Speaker 1: Norris goes five hole, makes no mistake, and he really
- 10:08Speaker 1: needed that one to be able to get to get
- 10:11Speaker 1: on the score sheet there. Him and McLeod have sort
- 10:13Speaker 1: of been on a dry spell as of late. So
- 10:15Speaker 1: really nice for the Sabers to respond after giving up
- 10:17Speaker 1: the power play goal to make it a two to
- 10:19Speaker 1: one game. Later on McLoud and Donut a two on
- 10:22Speaker 1: one that was stopped by Vassilevsky that really could have
- 10:25Speaker 1: opened the game up. It was, it could have been
- 10:26Speaker 1: three to one at that point, So for the Sabers
- 10:29Speaker 1: that that was a part in the game where you
- 10:31Speaker 1: really could have taken advantage there. But again, when you're
- 10:34Speaker 1: facing a goaltender of Vassilevski's caliber, you know, a Stanley
- 10:38Speaker 1: Cup winner, ves the winner just a con smythe you
- 10:41Speaker 1: know winner, he's he's one of the best for a
- 10:43Speaker 1: reason and why Tampa Bay are where they are in
- 10:46Speaker 1: the standings right now. And he was able to make
- 10:48Speaker 1: that make that big save at the time in the
- 10:51Speaker 1: second period Uh yeah, Vasilevski made another unbelievable save. Ryan
- 10:56Speaker 1: McLeod found, I found Zach Benson all alone out in
- 10:58Speaker 1: front and he just takes a quick snapshot right in
- 11:02Speaker 1: the crease there no one around him, and wow, what
- 11:05Speaker 1: to say by Vassilevsky with the glove to keep that
- 11:07Speaker 1: Sabers lead at two to one. So realistically there, Sabers
- 11:10Speaker 1: could have been up three or four to one at
- 11:12Speaker 1: the time, but again it's only a two to one game.
- 11:14Speaker 1: And then the Lightning are are able to tie the
- 11:16Speaker 1: game up there in the second period. Jake Genseil was
- 11:20Speaker 1: the beneficiary of that. This was a play where Logan
- 11:23Speaker 1: Stanley just couldn't get the puck out of the net.
- 11:25Speaker 1: He tried to ship it out the Sabers forwards. Maybe
- 11:27Speaker 1: we're thinking a different play was coming there. Krebs, you know,
- 11:30Speaker 1: couldn't ship it out there after Stanley tried to get
- 11:33Speaker 1: that out at the line. Great keep by Darren Radish
- 11:35Speaker 1: at the line, and they were able to find I
- 11:37Speaker 1: think it was point was able to find Jake Genseil
- 11:41Speaker 1: who was able to bury that to make it two
- 11:43Speaker 1: to two, and the Sabers just a little bit of
- 11:44Speaker 1: miscommunication there and they're able to tie the game in
- 11:47Speaker 1: Tampa Bay's favor when the Savers really could have been
- 11:50Speaker 1: up for to one at the time. So obviously a
- 11:52Speaker 1: team like Tampa Bay, you let them hang around enough,
- 11:55Speaker 1: they'll get that game tied. So a couple of penalties
- 11:59Speaker 1: back and forth after that. Gurgenson's got high stick by
- 12:02Speaker 1: Quinn right off the Sabers goal on the face off
- 12:06Speaker 1: right after that, so the Lightning went to a power play.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Alex Tuck had a short handed breakaway with a tired
- 12:13Speaker 1: Jake Gensel near the end of that power play, he
- 12:15Speaker 1: was stopped. He pallowed up with his rebound, got two
- 12:18Speaker 1: more opportunities that were stopped by andre Vassilevski, so three
- 12:22Speaker 1: shots in the matter of about fifteen seconds were stopped there,
- 12:26Speaker 1: and then he had a two on one opportunity shortly
- 12:28Speaker 1: after that. So number eighty nine was all over the
- 12:31Speaker 1: ice tonight, buzzing and could have had again three or
- 12:34Speaker 1: four goals even in the same shift, or rather so
- 12:38Speaker 1: the Sabers.
- 12:38Speaker 2: It's a two to two game at that point.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Jason Zucker later in the second period the game the
- 12:44Speaker 1: eventual game winning goal, and it was a big goal
- 12:46Speaker 1: at the time bow and Byron takes the point shot.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Jason Zucker tips it in front, usually where he's standing
- 12:51Speaker 1: around on the power play, and he tips it over
- 12:53Speaker 1: the left shoulder of andre Vassilevski to make it a
- 12:55Speaker 1: three to two game in favor of Buffalo. Heading to
- 12:58Speaker 1: that third period, they're really again in the third period,
- 13:01Speaker 1: Tampa was trying to push, trying to to find those
- 13:05Speaker 1: stretch passes and things like that. Buffalo is doing a
- 13:07Speaker 1: really good job, as you'll hear Lindy Rough talk about it,
- 13:10Speaker 1: of just you know, playing with the lead, playing with
- 13:13Speaker 1: a three to two lead, and knowing how to win
- 13:15Speaker 1: a game like that against a great team like Tampa
- 13:17Speaker 1: Bay that will make you pay on any sort of mistakes.
- 13:20Speaker 1: The Sabers don't really get into any any you know,
- 13:24Speaker 1: unsportsman like things or after the whistle things afterwards. The
- 13:28Speaker 1: Tampa Bay is usually good at baiting teams into so
- 13:32Speaker 1: the only really good opportunity they had was a Lukenan
- 13:35Speaker 1: made a big save going going left to right on
- 13:37Speaker 1: a Corey Perry one time or with about six minutes
- 13:39Speaker 1: left in the game. That was really the only opportunity
- 13:42Speaker 1: I thought that was high danger for Tampa Bay in
- 13:44Speaker 1: that third period. I thought the Sabers did a good
- 13:46Speaker 1: job of not really you know, allowing them into that
- 13:48Speaker 1: that home base area and didn't really you know, take
- 13:52Speaker 1: a lot of penalties and things like that. There there
- 13:54Speaker 1: was a point in this game laid out late with
- 13:56Speaker 1: about four minutes left whe Tampa Bay had pulled the goaltender,
- 13:58Speaker 1: but for some reason they had put him back in
- 14:00Speaker 1: the net in case they didn't win the face off.
- 14:02Speaker 1: They end up getting him out of the net just
- 14:04Speaker 1: a bit later, and I think there was a still
- 14:06Speaker 1: a bit of confusion there from some of the Tampa
- 14:08Speaker 1: Bay players on the ice as to whether the goaltender
- 14:11Speaker 1: was actually pulled or not, because usually you see when
- 14:13Speaker 1: the goaltenders pulled a little bit extra urgency, maybe those
- 14:16Speaker 1: players are a little bit back then they would be.
- 14:19Speaker 1: And then the neutral zone after the Sabers sort of
- 14:21Speaker 1: flipped that one out Lucan and went for the empty
- 14:23Speaker 1: net earlier as well, that got blocked, but Jack Quinn
- 14:26Speaker 1: is able to kind of chip it out from the
- 14:27Speaker 1: red line and it just is able to trickle into
- 14:30Speaker 1: the net. With the Tampa Bay Lightning players again a
- 14:33Speaker 1: little bit confused as to if Vasilevski was back there
- 14:35Speaker 1: or not. Was he going to be the last man
- 14:38Speaker 1: or not? And he was already already gone to the
- 14:40Speaker 1: bench at that point. So a little bit of a
- 14:42Speaker 1: misfortune for Tampa Bay is Buffalo's gain in that sense.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So they get the empty net or from Jack Quinn
- 14:48Speaker 1: and that seals it for the Sabers. They win it
- 14:50Speaker 1: by a four to two final and again tying the
- 14:52Speaker 1: Tampa Bay Lightning atop the Atlantic Division. So really good
- 14:57Speaker 1: stuff there. There's a couple of tweets I want to
- 14:59Speaker 1: go over Becau because a little bit interesting there following
- 15:03Speaker 1: the scoring summary was John Cooper was a little bit
- 15:06Speaker 1: disappointed with He had some comments tonight from and these
- 15:10Speaker 1: are from Lancesowski of the Buffalo News was covering the
- 15:13Speaker 1: game tonight, a longtime Savers reporter along with covering the
- 15:16Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills. He says Lightning coach John Cooper said the
- 15:19Speaker 1: penalty box was not completely closed when Ponts Holmberg went
- 15:22Speaker 1: into the boards causing the forwards injury. I don't know
- 15:25Speaker 1: who's working the penalty box, but I don't know if
- 15:26Speaker 1: they should keep their job after what happened there. Homberg
- 15:29Speaker 1: just kind of went awkwardly shoulder first into the penalty
- 15:33Speaker 1: box area after sort of just a play there where
- 15:37Speaker 1: they got tied up with a Sabers player and he
- 15:41Speaker 1: went shoulder first. Didn't didn't look great, called her bone
- 15:43Speaker 1: shoulder not really sure there, but didn't look good and
- 15:46Speaker 1: he had to be helped off the ice. More from
- 15:49Speaker 1: John Cooper. The officials didn't get a glowing review from
- 15:51Speaker 1: Cooper as well. He said, every time you touch somebody,
- 15:53Speaker 1: it's a penalty. Come on, let the teams play. That's
- 15:56Speaker 1: why everybody filled the building tonight. It sucked the fun
- 15:58Speaker 1: out of the game and his in his mind, so
- 16:02Speaker 1: some strong comments there from the Lightning head coach in
- 16:05Speaker 1: John Cooper. But for the Saber side of things, they
- 16:09Speaker 1: were obviously excited with the result for tonight's game. So
- 16:15Speaker 1: that's it for the scoring summary. If you're listening in

- 21:51Speaker 1: on the road in di aagress Is twenty twelve in
- 21:54Speaker 1: honor of the late William Robert Hunter. Here's what Lindy
- 21:56Speaker 1: Ruff had to say following his team's performance and being
- 21:59Speaker 1: able to take down the Tampa Bay Lightning by a
- 22:02Speaker 1: four too final. As always, postgame audios courtesy of Sabers
- 22:07Speaker 1: dot Com as well as x dot Com Slash Buffalo Sabers.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Here's Lindy Roff's great goal to lead it off.
- 22:13Speaker 6: But I thought he skated incredible in the game. I
- 22:16Speaker 6: thought his penalty killing was really good. It was a
- 22:19Speaker 6: big night for him. I mean, I thought our top
- 22:22Speaker 6: players had a good night, like Norris had a good
- 22:23Speaker 6: night and Alex had a good night.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Tom Or really skated well, competed.
- 22:28Speaker 6: So it was a night we needed our top guys,
- 22:31Speaker 6: and I thought they came through for us. Sharp all night.
- 22:37Speaker 5: Has left Ski pretty hard on him. He had some
- 22:40Speaker 5: good saves.
- 22:41Speaker 6: I made a great save on Corey Perry right there
- 22:43Speaker 6: with about six minutes left in.
- 22:44Speaker 5: The third period.
- 22:46Speaker 6: I thought both goaltenders made plenty of good saves. Didn't
- 22:50Speaker 6: have a lot, but had to make good saves, and
- 22:53Speaker 6: he gave us a great effort. The big reason why
- 22:55Speaker 6: we won too.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Just the way the game.
- 23:00Speaker 6: With your fourth line on the ice and he you know,
- 23:03Speaker 6: crowds of the park right after draw and hold it
- 23:05Speaker 6: to get fourth lyne off, it's just play a goal.
- 23:07Speaker 5: He has to really be into the game. Didn't know
- 23:09Speaker 5: what to do with that.
- 23:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean good, Uh, great thinking by them to
- 23:14Speaker 6: pull the goalie at that moment.
- 23:16Speaker 5: Uh, but countered by what.
- 23:18Speaker 6: He did was wasn't just tells you how into the
- 23:21Speaker 6: game he was. And uh he even tried for an
- 23:24Speaker 6: empty net goal, which I thought at the end of
- 23:26Speaker 6: that I said to him, hell of a try.
- 23:29Speaker 4: This wasn't as animated a game as the last meeting
- 23:32Speaker 4: between the two teams. Was important this game, really keep
- 23:36Speaker 4: your composure against.
- 23:37Speaker 5: The lighting that didn't seem like they wanted to be animated.
- 23:41Speaker 5: So it was. It was a game. I think both
- 23:44Speaker 5: teams knew the importance of winning a hockey game.
- 23:46Speaker 4: What do you mean of what this Atlantic Division is
- 23:49Speaker 4: going to come down and over these next ten days.
- 23:52Speaker 5: It's just one heck of a battle.
- 23:54Speaker 6: I mean, I think when you look at it, you
- 23:57Speaker 6: got to take a lot of pride in the fact
- 23:59Speaker 6: that you made the playoffs in a year where this
- 24:02Speaker 6: division and this conference was so incredibly tough. I think
- 24:08Speaker 6: the the effort by our group from December on has been,
- 24:14Speaker 6: I mean, has been sort of second to none to
- 24:16Speaker 6: get to where we're at.
- 24:18Speaker 5: This was a big game for us.
- 24:19Speaker 6: This was a big test for us tonight because we
- 24:22Speaker 6: knew how big this game was. We knew it was
- 24:24Speaker 6: against the team was sitting there just ahead of us.
- 24:26Speaker 6: We didn't play well in the previous two games, and
- 24:30Speaker 6: good teams know how to, you know, have some pushback,
- 24:33Speaker 6: and I thought our guys had great pushback, got a.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Big save immediately to two. When he makes that big
- 24:39Speaker 2: saver right up to that, you know you've got him
- 24:41Speaker 2: for the game.
- 24:41Speaker 1: It seems like he really fuels him when he makes
- 24:44Speaker 1: that big save right up the bat.
- 24:46Speaker 6: I think it helps any goaltender. At the same time,
- 24:50Speaker 6: I think it hurts some guys when they when they
- 24:52Speaker 6: don't make it. But I think getting that good save
- 24:54Speaker 6: you a goalie's got to feel good.
- 24:56Speaker 5: I mean not a.
- 24:58Speaker 6: Goalie, but you would have to think that. Yeah, you
- 25:01Speaker 6: know you're seeing a pucket moving well, you made a
- 25:03Speaker 6: good save and and you've got to feel good. You
- 25:07Speaker 6: know from that point on that you're seeing the puck
- 25:10Speaker 6: pretty well.
- 25:12Speaker 5: Guys that knows how electric when it's playoffs or playoff
- 25:18Speaker 5: type atmosphere. Given that, how important is it to your young.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Team for homes advantage to be able to be fueled
- 25:26Speaker 3: by what we saw tonight.
- 25:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I think the the energy in the building was
- 25:30Speaker 6: was incredible. The I think you could you could sense tension,
- 25:35Speaker 6: you could send excitement, you could you know when the
- 25:38Speaker 6: game got to to it was it was like a
- 25:41Speaker 6: real playoff atmosphere where you know, the game could go
- 25:45Speaker 6: either way. They're waiting for our response. The response when
- 25:49Speaker 6: we scored was incredible. Uh. You know, I saw a
- 25:53Speaker 6: few clips before the game of some stuff in the
- 25:57Speaker 6: where they had the Hagel thing and people were punching
- 26:00Speaker 6: the Hagel dummy on the way into the building. Uh.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Uh, I just think that's part of it.
- 26:08Speaker 6: You know, everybody's into it, and uh, you know, I
- 26:13Speaker 6: think our fans have been waiting for this for a while,
- 26:15Speaker 6: so it's good to see.
- 26:18Speaker 1: There was Sabers head coach Lindy Ruff on the Wild
- 26:21Speaker 1: Bills Auto Repair post game.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he was. He basically said that Tampa.
- 26:27Speaker 1: They didn't want to get in the animated in that
- 26:28Speaker 1: animated game, as we saw in that eight to seven
- 26:31Speaker 1: victory for Buffalo just over a month ago. And that
- 26:35Speaker 1: was a little bit from Lindy Russ's post game there.
- 26:37Speaker 2: It was.
- 26:38Speaker 1: It was interesting to see hear him talk about the
- 26:40Speaker 1: fans and and how how the the team knew how
- 26:43Speaker 1: big this game was, and and you know how they
- 26:45Speaker 1: how they knew that the building was going to be
- 26:47Speaker 1: rocking tonight and in their favor, so great stuff there
- 26:50Speaker 1: from from Sabers head coach Lindy Ruff and even addressed
- 26:53Speaker 1: the the Brandon Hagel punching that outside a couple more
- 26:57Speaker 1: comments that were cut off there. He was asked about
- 27:00Speaker 1: Luke Shen being in the lineup with Logan Stanley on
- 27:03Speaker 1: that third pair. He said, we needed his heaviness and
- 27:06Speaker 1: he thought that he did a good job on the
- 27:07Speaker 1: penalty kill for the Sabers tonight in that sense with
- 27:12Speaker 1: Luke Sheen checking back into the lineup, and then he
- 27:15Speaker 1: said right after that we.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Can close out these games. We can't.
- 27:19Speaker 1: We can't just give up two goals when they're leading
- 27:21Speaker 1: three to two. They've gone through some times this year
- 27:23Speaker 1: where they've given up late leads for the Sabers as well,
- 27:27Speaker 1: but they're able to close out a good Tampa Bay
- 27:29Speaker 1: team here tonight, obviously, in what everybody knew the stakes
- 27:33Speaker 1: coming into this, this game for Buffalo and for the
- 27:36Speaker 1: Sabers to be able to close out a game like
- 27:38Speaker 1: that against a great team like Tampa Bay was very
- 27:41Speaker 1: important to you know, for them to be able to
- 27:43Speaker 1: go into the playoffs knowing that they're going to be
- 27:45Speaker 1: in these tight games, these low scoring games when you
- 27:48Speaker 1: get into a seven game series against certain teams and
- 27:50Speaker 1: they might even face Tampa Bay. Who knows how the
- 27:52Speaker 1: seating will will sort of shake out here. But to
- 27:55Speaker 1: be able to hold on to a win like that,
- 27:56Speaker 1: it felt like, you know, a playoff type victory where
- 27:59Speaker 1: you're able to hold the three lead, you get the
- 28:00Speaker 1: empty netter, and you close it out when you do
- 28:03Speaker 1: have a lead. So for the Savers, they went through
- 28:05Speaker 1: some adversity in this game tonight, but they're able to
- 28:08Speaker 1: pull out the victory. And that's what good teams do,
- 28:09Speaker 1: and that's what they've continued to show here with their
- 28:12Speaker 1: strong play here since December and one of the best
- 28:16Speaker 1: teams in all the National Hockey League since then. So
- 28:18Speaker 1: there was head coach Lindy Ruff with his postgame thoughts.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Let's get connected with you guys and our fans with
- 28:23Speaker 1: our fan poll tonight, brought to you by the Nagardentri
- 28:26Speaker 1: Clinic creating natural smiles in the Naga region for over
- 28:29Speaker 1: twenty five years. Who was your player of the game
- 28:32Speaker 1: tonight for the Savers in their four to two victory.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Alex tuk ukco Peca Lucan and Jason Zucker Bowen Byrom
- 28:37Speaker 1: seventy five percent of the poll. Right now is Uco
- 28:40Speaker 1: Peca Lucan in the net for Buffalo making his twenty
- 28:42Speaker 1: three saves, and then second was placed was Alex Tuck
- 28:45Speaker 1: with his goal and many opportunities for the Savers tonight
- 28:48Speaker 1: gets twenty five percent of the vote.
- 28:50Speaker 2: There.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Zuker and Byrom Zucker and Byron also had good games
- 28:54Speaker 1: as well for Buffalo getting on the score sheet as well,
- 28:57Speaker 1: so showed us to them and thank you to those
- 29:00Speaker 1: who participated in our fan polls. Make sure to give
- 29:02Speaker 1: us a follow on x at Saber Semantics. Do you
- 29:04Speaker 1: get in on our all of our interactive content for
- 29:07Speaker 1: our shows and things like that. So we are going
- 29:10Speaker 1: to have if you're listening to this tomorrow or on
- 29:14Speaker 1: Tuesday Tuesday Night, Boston brought and myself for going to
- 29:18Speaker 1: record a best Moments from the Drought podcast. That'll be
- 29:22Speaker 1: a fun one to be able to break down and
- 29:25Speaker 1: reminisce over the good and the bad over the last
- 29:27Speaker 1: fourteen years, the Sabers missing the playoffs. So we're gonna
- 29:31Speaker 1: give our our top five players, top five moments.
- 29:33Speaker 2: It'll be a very fun episode.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Hope you guys tune in tune into that one for
- 29:37Speaker 1: for fun, another video episode or audio here on Saber Semantics,
- 29:42Speaker 1: so look forward to that as well. As we move
- 29:45Speaker 1: forward here, I just quickly want to discuss a few
- 29:47Speaker 1: players tonight from the scoring summary as I pull it
- 29:50Speaker 1: up here from tonight. Yeah, I gotta, I gotta expand this, guys,
- 29:56Speaker 1: because I can I can barely see the thing, so actually,
- 29:59Speaker 1: you know, I'll just I'll just pull it up on
- 30:00Speaker 1: the so I'm not squinting the entire time I have
- 30:03Speaker 1: it up for you guys. I'm gonna pull it up
- 30:05Speaker 1: for myself so I can actually read this thing. So
- 30:08Speaker 1: I can't it's in small screen on video. So as
- 30:11Speaker 1: I pull up this the player stats tonight, here we go.
- 30:14Speaker 1: So again, Benson got an assist tonight, he was a
- 30:17Speaker 1: plus one. Norris got on the board with the goal.
- 30:19Speaker 1: He was a plus one. Zucker got a goal and assist.
- 30:22Speaker 1: He was a plus two. Quinn with the empty netter
- 30:24Speaker 1: he was a plus two. McLeod was a plus three
- 30:28Speaker 1: tonight with one assist. Alex Tuck wasn't even with a
- 30:32Speaker 1: goal on the night. Josh Done got an assist as
- 30:35Speaker 1: well on that Noris goal, so it was actually Norris
- 30:40Speaker 1: taking the pass from Don not Sucker that I think
- 30:42Speaker 1: I said earlier. He was a plus one in the game.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Bowen Byron was a plus two with a pair of assists.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Mattia Samulson was plus two with a pair with no
- 30:51Speaker 1: points but a plus two rating there. Rasmus Doleen had
- 30:53Speaker 1: an assist in the game. The captain with a plus
- 30:56Speaker 1: two rating and logging the most minutes tonight was Doleen
- 30:59Speaker 1: on the back at twenty three oh seven. Stanley played
- 31:03Speaker 1: the least tonight at twelve forty Shen just above him
- 31:06Speaker 1: at twelve fifty four. So again that pair didn't play
- 31:09Speaker 1: a whole lot, but they didn't give up a whole
- 31:12Speaker 1: lot either, And again they were scrutinized coming in of
- 31:14Speaker 1: whether you know they were going to be able to
- 31:15Speaker 1: hold the Ford against us some of those Stampa Bay players,
- 31:17Speaker 1: But no Hegel and no Sirelly for Tampa Bay made
- 31:20Speaker 1: it easier, I guess for those guys as well, just
- 31:23Speaker 1: to be able to play their defensive game, and in
- 31:26Speaker 1: the lack of mobility, I guess you could say with
- 31:27Speaker 1: that pair, Zucker had four shots on net. Quinn at
- 31:30Speaker 1: four shots, Tuck had six. He had four in about
- 31:32Speaker 1: two minutes, so his total was up to six. The
- 31:37Speaker 1: block shots tonight, Dunn had a cat a pair, Mallenstein
- 31:40Speaker 1: had a pair, so you love to see that from
- 31:41Speaker 1: the fourth line. Malenstein also had five hits in the game.
- 31:45Speaker 1: On the back end, Stanley led the way with blocks
- 31:47Speaker 1: with two. Shen and Samuson also had one as well.
- 31:50Speaker 1: So when you look at the Sabers ice time for forwards,
- 31:54Speaker 1: the leader in that category was Alex Tuck at seventeen
- 31:58Speaker 1: fifty nine on this night, Benson seventeen forty four, McCleod
- 32:02Speaker 1: seventeen thirty one, and Thompson seventeen fifty six, so just
- 32:06Speaker 1: three seconds less than Alex Tuck tonight. So he was
- 32:10Speaker 1: on the ice a lot number eighty nine for Buffalo
- 32:13Speaker 1: in this game. So just quickly wanted to give you
- 32:16Speaker 1: a little bit more from the player stats tonight and
- 32:19Speaker 1: who sort of stood out there going.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Forward from the fan poll and things like that.
- 32:24Speaker 1: So the player of the game tonight again in my mind,
- 32:29Speaker 1: I mean I could go a few different ways with this.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna stick with Zucker. You know that big goal
- 32:33Speaker 1: at the time, the game winning goal, the tip. Also
- 32:36Speaker 1: I had an assist in this game mate. It was
- 32:39Speaker 1: a presence in front of the net as he usually is.
- 32:41Speaker 1: So I'm gonna give it to number seventeen tonight. Jason
- 32:43Speaker 1: Zucker is going to be my player of the game
- 32:45Speaker 1: for Buffalo, coming through in another big game. He seems
- 32:48Speaker 1: to come through in the biggest of games. He came
- 32:50Speaker 1: through in the Tampa Bay game as well with a
- 32:52Speaker 1: pair of goals in that contest. Tuck also with a
- 32:56Speaker 1: big game in that con back in a month ago.
- 32:58Speaker 1: So the Sabers again at the time we're recording this now,
- 33:02Speaker 1: are tied with Tampa Bay for the division lead within
- 33:05Speaker 1: the Atlantic Division. Again, Tampa has that game in hand,
- 33:09Speaker 1: so keep in mind there and Montreal also as a
- 33:12Speaker 1: game in hand, it could tie Buffalo by the next
- 33:14Speaker 1: time they play as well. So Buffalo's got their game
- 33:17Speaker 1: on Thursday, and we'll sort of see them on home
- 33:20Speaker 1: ice once again. They increase their home record on the
- 33:23Speaker 1: season to twenty five ten and four, so a solid
- 33:28Speaker 1: home record there. As the fan base in Western New
- 33:32Speaker 1: York and downtown Buffalo Key Bank Center continues to come back.
- 33:36Speaker 1: We got some announcements about the block parties and the
- 33:39Speaker 1: parties in the plaza for the playoffs. The playoff merchandise
- 33:43Speaker 1: is out as well. Playoff tickets have been selling well
- 33:46Speaker 1: according to pek Welli, so a lot of great stuff
- 33:49Speaker 1: here for Saber's going to be playing meaningful games in
- 33:52Speaker 1: April when the playoffs do start here in a few weeks.
- 33:55Speaker 1: So hopefully you guys enjoyed this quick postgame episode here
- 34:00Speaker 1: after the Horn Sports cast right here on Saber Semantics.

- 34:17Speaker 1: another Saber Semantics episode coming out for you guys on Wednesday,
- 34:20Speaker 1: going over best and worst moments from the Sabers fourteen
- 34:24Speaker 1: year playoff drought that is now a thing of the past.
- 34:27Speaker 1: They've got that X and it almost feels surreal that
- 34:29Speaker 1: there's gonna be playoff hockey in Buffalo once again. So
- 34:34Speaker 1: as always, Saber Spantics is probably about to buy Global
- 34:36Speaker 1: Pet Foods where pets are unannihibially part of the family
- 34:38Speaker 1: and their three great Niagara Region locations and Niagara Falls
- 34:41Speaker 1: fon Hill and Scots Freed and Saint Catharine's again on Tuesday.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Make sure to go in and get your free dog
- 34:44Speaker 1: treat courtesy of this Saber's Home victory and Saber Semantics
- 34:48Speaker 1: dog or cat treat. Excuse me, don't want to leave
- 34:51Speaker 1: out the cats as well, so again make sure two
- 34:54Speaker 1: give us a follow on x that Saber Semantics was
- 34:57Speaker 1: on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok by searching the Armshare GM
- 34:59Speaker 1: Sports Network. So my name is Brandick Puttter, the host
- 35:02Speaker 1: of the program again. Tonight's final score of the Buffalo
- 35:04Speaker 1: Sabers for the Tampa Bay Lightning two now tie to
- 35:07Speaker 1: top the Atlantic Division with one hundred and two points,
- 35:09Speaker 1: their most since the six seven season. Talk to you
- 35:12Speaker 1: guys again very soon here on the Armchair GM Sports Network.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Have yourself a good night. You're listening to the Armchair
- 35:18Speaker 1: GM Sports Network.
