- 0:16Speaker 4: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota dot Com.
- 0:22Speaker 3: See you guys, your holidays.
- 0:26Speaker 5: They say you're on holiday everything, and I held it
- 0:29Speaker 5: down before we left.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Don't you worry? Her was in good shape. I heard
- 0:33Speaker 2: about that.
- 0:34Speaker 6: That ratings reflected, Oh yeah, your shows were hanging on
- 0:38Speaker 6: the week on the Vineyard, which was really nice.
- 0:41Speaker 3: The wanna be hard? Oh scraped during one of the
- 0:43Speaker 3: two joint practices.
- 0:45Speaker 6: Sirianna doesn't want that smoke, not at all.
- 0:47Speaker 3: When Paul played sports, he didn't like the raw rod. Guys, no,
- 0:50Speaker 3: I deny it.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I did.
- 0:53Speaker 5: You did, But I wasn't try hard because I didn't
- 0:55Speaker 5: have the ability to not do.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Paul, Wait in your life, you didn't try.
- 1:00Speaker 7: I tried, believe me.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. I wasn't a lack
- 1:04Speaker 2: of effort away from being in the major leagues, right.
- 1:08Speaker 3: That's not what Tommy di Debosa told me. Ever, tics,
- 1:11Speaker 3: poison IVY and Mosquitos, why do we need them? The
- 1:15Speaker 3: ecosystem would be fine if we eliminate those three.
- 1:17Speaker 8: I don't think that's true.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I know it is starting at YouTube, and we'll see
- 1:22Speaker 3: if we have to branch out. I have an onlyfan
- 1:24Speaker 3: so well that you know, listen, I'll be doing it
- 1:29Speaker 3: at bare feet and selling my.
- 1:30Speaker 7: Socks bare feet and selling my socks.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Is that how only fens works?
- 1:35Speaker 3: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota dot Com. All right,
- 1:42Speaker 3: welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at Jules Stadium.
- 1:47Speaker 3: The gang's all here at Evans Paul. It's me, It's Duce,
- 1:49Speaker 3: it's Alex, it's Matt and the booth getting ready for
- 1:52Speaker 3: the season. I can tell. I can tell, you know,
- 1:55Speaker 3: everyone's starting to get a little bit anxious, a little
- 1:58Speaker 3: bit excited, right.
- 2:00Speaker 9: And we're all here.
- 2:01Speaker 2: We're all here. Yeah, passed the conditioning test this morning.
- 2:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I did the run tell I passed it flying colors, right, Yeah, yeah,
- 2:11Speaker 6: I'm just picturing Evan doing I've actually I actually wanted
- 2:18Speaker 6: to do it, like I wanted to, like as content, they.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Have a section where you waddle, because you.
- 2:25Speaker 6: Know, I just I feel like there's two things like
- 2:29Speaker 6: that are like running the Hills. I feel like it
- 2:31Speaker 6: would be like fun content to.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Make fun for who God for.
- 2:36Speaker 6: For me to be laughed at.
- 2:38Speaker 8: I can be laughed at that.
- 2:40Speaker 3: We're going to do it of your music playing in
- 2:43Speaker 3: the background.
- 2:44Speaker 8: Like can Evan pass the conditioning test? No?
- 2:47Speaker 2: No he can't.
- 2:49Speaker 8: All right, Well, anyways.
- 2:51Speaker 3: So it is Thursday.
- 2:54Speaker 2: In two days. Gotta hurry, we are going to be
- 2:56Speaker 2: live at practice.
- 2:59Speaker 3: It's hard to believe we're talking about in two days
- 3:02Speaker 3: we're going to be live at practice.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Uh.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Here on patriot dot Com and YouTube. I just went
- 3:09Speaker 3: out there. Matt and his crew were putting together our set.
- 3:13Speaker 3: So it's here, it's.
- 3:15Speaker 7: Here, absolutely trains running. Yeah, let's me get on.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Got some new names signed to the roster yesterday.
- 3:22Speaker 10: Uh Mitch over that, Yeah, Mitch van Voren is one
- 3:26Speaker 10: and then as well as a linebacker.
- 3:28Speaker 2: From the family.
- 3:31Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 10: Uh so a couple of depth moves there, nothing really
- 3:34Speaker 10: moving the needle. I would say, just you know, guys
- 3:36Speaker 10: who were going to compete.
- 3:38Speaker 7: I think we all expected. They let go of a
- 3:39Speaker 7: fan favorite day.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I was gonna see, I was gonna you buried the lead.
- 3:44Speaker 2: You sold this real.
- 3:45Speaker 10: Estate on brock Lampy Island and unfortunately you sold high.
- 3:48Speaker 6: Yeah, we sold high on on Brock. We we found
- 3:51Speaker 6: a listen. I I don't need to, you know, make
- 3:54Speaker 6: fun of brock Lampy. But as soon as we signed
- 3:56Speaker 6: Reggie Gilliam, the island really changed names quickly to.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Appreciate in value and the two full back offense. Though
- 4:02Speaker 2: we were we were a little bit curious about.
- 4:04Speaker 6: Yea, Wherston Island is still going great. We're still we're
- 4:08Speaker 6: actually adding people to that island based off of catch
- 4:11Speaker 6: twenty two yesterday, so we're going good. But yeah, brock
- 4:15Speaker 6: Lampy did not make much sense to carry two full
- 4:17Speaker 6: backs for too long.
- 4:18Speaker 8: So that one I think make.
- 4:20Speaker 2: We'll catch on.
- 4:20Speaker 3: But you know a lot of these guys they get
- 4:22Speaker 3: cut and they tell them, you know, don't don't pack
- 4:25Speaker 3: up yet.
- 4:26Speaker 2: You never know.
- 4:27Speaker 10: Sure, I think you'd be a good fallback should anything
- 4:30Speaker 10: happen to to Reggie Gilliam. But getting things in order,
- 4:33Speaker 10: and you know, we had a few pup lists as well,
- 4:35Speaker 10: you know, Harold Landry being the most notable one. Uh
- 4:39Speaker 10: you know, to me, just I don't I don't know
- 4:41Speaker 10: where to draw the line. Because we talked to Vrabel
- 4:43Speaker 10: in the spring and he just kind of said, like,
- 4:45Speaker 10: Harold Learner's gonna be fine. He doesn't need to to
- 4:47Speaker 10: be here. But I think it's a really thin position.
- 4:50Speaker 10: Gay accus Where's he?
- 4:51Speaker 2: We don't know? That's the one. So those are the
- 4:54Speaker 2: two big questions.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Aunt Landry will be fine, But acis is a mystery.
- 4:59Speaker 2: You know what's going on there? I don't.
- 5:00Speaker 10: Well, we had Burke Beer saying that it could it
- 5:03Speaker 10: could be something of a redst year was what he said,
- 5:06Speaker 10: which really freaked me out.
- 5:07Speaker 9: Has he posted from the squat rack?
- 5:09Speaker 2: There's no more squats.
- 5:11Speaker 6: He's posted hanklings plenty of workout videos of himself on
- 5:14Speaker 6: his own socials this offseason.
- 5:17Speaker 8: So I have no idea what's going on with that one.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It's so weird because in Fortune Foxbury he saw all
- 5:24Speaker 3: the video of him, you know, being so excited, you know,
- 5:27Speaker 3: get me the playbook.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I'm ready to go.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Oh, by the way, I'm gonna have surgery that you
- 5:31Speaker 3: guys didn't know about it. We don't maybe maybe, yeah, yeah,
- 5:35Speaker 3: that's that's.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Mike Rees has reported that he's coming off of a
- 5:38Speaker 5: knee procedure.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Whether they knew about it or not, we don't know.
- 5:42Speaker 2: The mechanics of it all.
- 5:43Speaker 10: But the bottom line was that was the guy we
- 5:46Speaker 10: were all most excited about, and we thought that they
- 5:48Speaker 10: needed that he fit.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I mean, the.
- 5:50Speaker 10: Calls on Forcen Foxborough was rabel like, you already got
- 5:53Speaker 10: the attitude. I mean, they, you know, everybody could see
- 5:55Speaker 10: the way the guy plays is how they the Patriots
- 5:57Speaker 10: want to play.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And now there's this big mystery around it.
- 6:00Speaker 10: I've never experienced anything like this before, especially with the
- 6:03Speaker 10: rookie slotting. You figure the contract shouldn't be that hard,
- 6:06Speaker 10: but it seems like there's a lot of complications going
- 6:08Speaker 10: on right now and I don't really know what the
- 6:10Speaker 10: solution is or when the solution will come. The Redscher
- 6:13Speaker 10: year makes it to me sound like, at the very best,
- 6:16Speaker 10: he's not coming back until maybe the start of the season,
- 6:18Speaker 10: and then they've got to start to work them in.
- 6:21Speaker 5: It's not a great way for a rookie to I mean,
- 6:24Speaker 5: I still think that there's an avenue for him to
- 6:26Speaker 5: be a contributor in year one, but it's not the
- 6:29Speaker 5: best way to start. I mean, he missed the entire
- 6:32Speaker 5: offseason program and you know camp, you know for rookies.
- 6:38Speaker 5: They reported on Tuesday and he hasn't, so I don't
- 6:44Speaker 5: know how this is going to unfold. But it's not
- 6:45Speaker 5: a great way to start as a rookie. And Mike
- 6:48Speaker 5: is right like, it's not necessarily like, oh that's the
- 6:51Speaker 5: that's the best player they drafted. No, he had the
- 6:53Speaker 5: best road for media contribution because it's a thin spot
- 6:58Speaker 5: that they need. You know, they've done a good job
- 7:00Speaker 5: of bolstering the roster, you know, top to bottom, but
- 7:03Speaker 5: that's one area I think and I'm.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Not as.
- 7:08Speaker 5: I'm not as willing to just overlook the fact that
- 7:11Speaker 5: Landry's going to start on pup as Fred is. I'm
- 7:13Speaker 5: not worried about Landry as a veteran being ready to
- 7:15Speaker 5: go if he's physically up to speed. I'm not worried
- 7:18Speaker 5: about him missing practice time. But pup means he's not
- 7:23Speaker 5: able to practice yet wells.
- 7:25Speaker 3: But plenty of guys start on pup and then.
- 7:28Speaker 5: Yes they do, and when they come off pup, that's
- 7:30Speaker 5: when I stop worrying.
- 7:31Speaker 6: Okay, I'm less concerned about the immediate with the pup
- 7:34Speaker 6: with him, and more concerned about in December and January
- 7:37Speaker 6: is going.
- 7:38Speaker 7: To be I worried that that injury is significantly.
- 7:40Speaker 9: He's not part of the maintenance though, of why he
- 7:42Speaker 9: would start on PUP, just.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Because that's how Rabel really massaged it in off season,
- 7:49Speaker 4: his off season availabilities, you know, to Mike earlier.
- 7:52Speaker 5: And that's if he wasn't on a list and he
- 7:55Speaker 5: wasn't practicing regularly, I wouldn't have any concern at all.
- 7:59Speaker 5: They don't have to put him on PUP. It's not
- 8:00Speaker 5: like they get a roster spot for putting him on PUP.
- 8:03Speaker 5: They don't. So that's my concern, Alex, is that Mike
- 8:09Speaker 5: sort of let it be known this is you know,
- 8:11Speaker 5: they did it last year with him, and I thought
- 8:13Speaker 5: it worked pretty well for him. In Morgan, Moses and
- 8:16Speaker 5: No far More, I think was a little of that.
- 8:18Speaker 5: There was some guys that they had to monitor for
- 8:20Speaker 5: different reasons, and I think it really worked well. The
- 8:24Speaker 5: fact that he's on a list tells me he's not
- 8:26Speaker 5: ready to practice yet. Whether they want to massage him
- 8:29Speaker 5: or not, he's not ready to go yet.
- 8:31Speaker 7: So I'm a little concerned about that. You know me,
- 8:32Speaker 7: I get more about this stuff than you guys too.
- 8:34Speaker 6: I'm concerned about him from a big picture standpoint. I
- 8:37Speaker 6: think we're saying the same thing a little differently, Like in.
- 8:40Speaker 5: Other words, the fact that he's on PUP tells me
- 8:42Speaker 5: there's a significant injury that could be a problem for
- 8:45Speaker 5: you in December.
- 8:46Speaker 6: I mean the first five six weeks of the season.
- 8:48Speaker 6: Last year, he looked great, yep, and then an injury
- 8:50Speaker 6: happened in New Orleans and he was never the It's.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Like a new threat, not really a new thread.
- 8:55Speaker 8: It's regularly I was gonna say what it's gonna do.
- 8:58Speaker 6: It was not the same player, And you know, we
- 9:00Speaker 6: were talked about it yesterday on the show, Like just
- 9:03Speaker 6: to get him to be active for the Super Bowl
- 9:06Speaker 6: was like a huge undertaking, just to make sure that
- 9:10Speaker 6: he could dress as like a you know, show of
- 9:12Speaker 6: good fate that he was dressing in the game. I
- 9:15Speaker 6: wasn't really sure he was going to play at all
- 9:17Speaker 6: this year, Like retirement I thought was maybe on the
- 9:20Speaker 6: table for him. And now he's coming back and he
- 9:24Speaker 6: sits out the spring and he's on PUP. I just
- 9:26Speaker 6: I think that whole position is like, well, where are
- 9:29Speaker 6: they going to get the juice out of that spot?
- 9:31Speaker 6: Like you think dra Mun Johs is going to be
- 9:33Speaker 6: like steady, like he's going to be a solid player
- 9:35Speaker 6: for them, but is he going to be a double
- 9:39Speaker 6: digit sack guy? And like, really, you know, get after
- 9:41Speaker 6: the quarterback. You know, Elijah Ponder, that's everybody's you know,
- 9:46Speaker 6: circle breakout candidate, you know camp star. We'll see I
- 9:51Speaker 6: mean Braden Swinson, Yeah, maybe.
- 9:53Speaker 2: I mean it was a concern all off season.
- 9:55Speaker 10: I mean I remember talking about it last year and saying,
- 9:58Speaker 10: this is a position they're going to have to address.
- 10:00Speaker 10: They addressed it, but you know, you're not You don't
- 10:02Speaker 10: know what you're going to get out of Actus, And
- 10:04Speaker 10: I think Evan's to your point. It's just my biggest
- 10:06Speaker 10: thing is if this is a team with Super Bowl aspirations,
- 10:08Speaker 10: is that defensive end group going to be peaking at
- 10:11Speaker 10: the end of January or are you going to have to,
- 10:13Speaker 10: you know, do what you did with Morgan Moses and
- 10:15Speaker 10: those guys, and you're gonna constantly have to be managing
- 10:17Speaker 10: Harold Landry. I like Harol Landry. I'd like to believe
- 10:20Speaker 10: that he could get back to that point, but I
- 10:21Speaker 10: don't think it's arguable that he's on the back side
- 10:24Speaker 10: of his career and you very well might have seen
- 10:26Speaker 10: his best days. So it's it's a key position, and
- 10:29Speaker 10: I just think we're gonna be talking a ton about
- 10:30Speaker 10: it over the next.
- 10:31Speaker 6: I just wonder what Landry My like silver lining of
- 10:34Speaker 6: hope with him is that maybe they try to flip
- 10:38Speaker 6: flop his season where the first couple of months of
- 10:41Speaker 6: this season he doesn't really play a ton and there's
- 10:44Speaker 6: out a ton of it because they're actually saving him
- 10:46Speaker 6: for January, so that maybe the first six.
- 10:49Speaker 7: Weeks not a bad point of.
- 10:51Speaker 6: Last season happened at the end of the season instead
- 10:53Speaker 6: of that's.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Why I've start him acting like everything's fine in order
- 10:57Speaker 3: to put.
- 10:57Speaker 7: Him on pup. Yeah, you have to open camp on pup.
- 11:01Speaker 5: So maybe to Evan's point, maybe they want to give
- 11:04Speaker 5: him take September off.
- 11:07Speaker 2: We'll put you on pup.
- 11:08Speaker 5: You can't play, but hopefully we'll have you healthy and
- 11:11Speaker 5: ready to go.
- 11:12Speaker 10: How do you guys remember like Bill managing that defense
- 11:16Speaker 10: as it got older, you know, two thousand and seven,
- 11:18Speaker 10: two thousand and eight, you know, guys like Rabel and
- 11:20Speaker 10: Bruski and Harrison, you know, did did he take similar
- 11:23Speaker 10: kind of steps or were they like full bore right
- 11:25Speaker 10: from the get go and camp.
- 11:26Speaker 5: I mean it was different veteran days off or you know,
- 11:28Speaker 5: a big, big part of that. I think McGuinness was
- 11:31Speaker 5: really a guy that that started it.
- 11:34Speaker 2: But yeah, as they got older, on his own, not.
- 11:38Speaker 3: With the coach.
- 11:40Speaker 5: Yeah, but I think guess they got older, you know,
- 11:43Speaker 5: veteran days off. Rodney was a guy who you know,
- 11:46Speaker 5: every once in a while you just would be doing
- 11:48Speaker 5: much at practice, you know, kind of like what you
- 11:50Speaker 5: saw Mike do last year.
- 11:51Speaker 8: Yeah, they had a bunch of those guys.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I mean some of it.
- 11:53Speaker 10: I don't mind when a younger player gets an opportunity,
- 11:56Speaker 10: like it's gonna be great for Elijah Ponder to get
- 11:58Speaker 10: a chance, But I just think that's a position where
- 12:00Speaker 10: they need talent and they need production, and that's the
- 12:03Speaker 10: bottom line.
- 12:04Speaker 3: So, speaking of Belichick, I have to tell you about
- 12:08Speaker 3: this dream I had last night that included Belichick, and
- 12:11Speaker 3: it'll show you how traumatized I was over those twenty years.
- 12:17Speaker 3: So the dream takes place in present day, but he's
- 12:21Speaker 3: still he's the coach.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And we're still doing the newspaper. So I get word
- 12:26Speaker 2: that the coach is really pissed at you. He wants
- 12:29Speaker 2: to talk to you. Oh no, and he's so pissed.
- 12:31Speaker 3: He has a new rule that when you guys screw up,
- 12:35Speaker 3: he's taking it out on the regular media. And he's
- 12:37Speaker 3: pulled Chris Gasper's credentials because of yours screw up. And
- 12:43Speaker 3: so yeah, yeah, So I'm like, oh, this is this
- 12:46Speaker 3: is this is worse than me getting like he's taking
- 12:49Speaker 3: it out on them because of stuff. So I'm trying.
- 12:51Speaker 3: I'm racking my brain.
- 12:52Speaker 2: What did we do?
- 12:53Speaker 3: I have no idea, you know, And I'm going through
- 12:55Speaker 3: the last issue of the paper and it's like, well,
- 12:57Speaker 3: we talked about Gonzalez's contract.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Could he be mad at about that? I mean, that's
- 13:01Speaker 2: we we have to talk about that.
- 13:03Speaker 3: That's a big story, Like what is it?
- 13:05Speaker 2: What is it?
- 13:06Speaker 3: So finally our CMO, Jen Farren, I tell her, I said, yeah,
- 13:10Speaker 3: I heard the coaches mad because yeah, I heard too.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I know why. I said why?
- 13:15Speaker 3: And she pointed to this section that we had in
- 13:17Speaker 3: the beginning of the newspaper called press gems, And I
- 13:21Speaker 3: guess it was us taking things that the press said
- 13:24Speaker 3: and just highlighting them, like whether they were so ridiculous
- 13:27Speaker 3: or whatever, just to show what they're saying. And I
- 13:31Speaker 3: don't know who the writer was, but it was really
- 13:33Speaker 3: cheap shots. It was you know, at best, this is
- 13:35Speaker 3: this roster is a talent, is a you know a
- 13:39Speaker 3: bunch of misfits and blah blah blah. So you know,
- 13:41Speaker 3: it was like take but we put it in there
- 13:43Speaker 3: to get people riled up, like you know how bad
- 13:47Speaker 3: this is. So the dream in my mind ends with
- 13:51Speaker 3: me thinking, Okay, I'll be able to explain this, but
- 13:54Speaker 3: how do I get GASPS credentials? Yeah, that's that's how
- 13:59Speaker 3: That's how screwed up we got over the last one.
- 14:02Speaker 7: Can I ask you did that happened to you a lot?
- 14:05Speaker 5: Like over the years, did you have like these random
- 14:07Speaker 5: dreams about Bill being mad or whatever a little bit? Yeah,
- 14:11Speaker 5: Constant really like not the same details as that, but
- 14:16Speaker 5: like Bill wants to see you, Bill confronting me, flashed
- 14:22Speaker 5: back to the elevator, going to the press conference that
- 14:24Speaker 5: I still have over.
- 14:26Speaker 4: There are people here that I'm convinced they're going to
- 14:28Speaker 4: pass the trauma they got from Bill down like in
- 14:31Speaker 4: their DNA like for generations.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Oh, it's definitely Belichick post trauma. Whatever you want to
- 14:37Speaker 3: call it. It affected the whole organization. I think I
- 14:42Speaker 3: think we're still recovering that that. Ye, some of the
- 14:45Speaker 3: attitudes and things are still like.
- 14:47Speaker 2: He's not here anymore.
- 14:48Speaker 3: You don't have to worry about that.
- 14:51Speaker 4: Especially with a lot of people that we deal with
- 14:53Speaker 4: in content that have been around a long time.
- 14:56Speaker 9: Yeah, people still have kind of that.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I don't know, we can't do that.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Oh no, we can do that.
- 15:03Speaker 5: I would say a dozen, maybe a half dozen to
- 15:07Speaker 5: a dozen times a year, like I would have a
- 15:09Speaker 5: random Jellette stadium type dream, and sometimes they were positive.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Sometimes Bill was really happening.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah about there was.
- 15:19Speaker 6: Some good even more because there were times like when
- 15:24Speaker 6: we would do like before like preseason games, like you
- 15:27Speaker 6: know when when we're getting ready because we produce our
- 15:30Speaker 6: own preseason games, and we would do like production meetings
- 15:35Speaker 6: and Bill would be in there, and Bill often incorporated
- 15:38Speaker 6: me into something that he was talking about, Like we'd
- 15:41Speaker 6: be talking about like a cornerback and he got you know,
- 15:44Speaker 6: like you know, Paul's going down for patio get up,
- 15:46Speaker 6: and he would show like the technique of.
- 15:48Speaker 5: Not looking back for the ball but playing through the
- 15:51Speaker 5: guy's hands and staying in FaZe and this, and like
- 15:54Speaker 5: I was always like like I'm his you.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Know, his whipping boy that knows he can do anything,
- 16:00Speaker 2: but like in a good way.
- 16:02Speaker 7: Yeah, it was in a good way.
- 16:03Speaker 5: And I would have these like random dreams like you
- 16:06Speaker 5: know you like you did a really good job at that.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, even though I know we didn't.
- 16:10Speaker 7: Okay, well i'd wake up. No, No, that didn't happen.
- 16:13Speaker 4: What is the psychology, Like there's a psychological meaning behind
- 16:17Speaker 4: that somewhere I'm going to analyze that.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Well, never accept Yeah, you know.
- 16:21Speaker 9: From your father figure back then.
- 16:23Speaker 3: It wasn't that long ago that we stopped the newspaper.
- 16:26Speaker 3: But while we were doing the newspaper, I mean it's
- 16:29Speaker 3: a weekly newspaper that you know, we're doing thirty two
- 16:32Speaker 3: to forty forty eight page newspaper and we're really really
- 16:36Speaker 3: covering the team in depth, and it's your life. You know,
- 16:40Speaker 3: the game's over, you're doing an overnight. You get that
- 16:43Speaker 3: issue out and you're immediately working on the next issue.
- 16:46Speaker 3: So you're you're so ingrained, and I can understand why
- 16:49Speaker 3: you would have it was always about it always, It's
- 16:51Speaker 3: always on your mind, like there's always a deadline you're
- 16:54Speaker 3: always hitting, you know.
- 16:56Speaker 10: I think Paul would have liked your dream scenario though,
- 16:58Speaker 10: because you could get things in the paper and get
- 17:00Speaker 10: this media guy like Bill, get him right, flog him right.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Oops, we did it again.
- 17:06Speaker 3: You're gonna have to buy it's an empty press box.
- 17:11Speaker 2: And he just looked across what he had done and
- 17:13Speaker 2: was satisfied. I will cover the team now.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Sorry, guys, you do you think like not that it's
- 17:20Speaker 6: to be the last You're okay, not woe as any
- 17:23Speaker 6: of it, but like I think about this team and
- 17:26Speaker 6: the job twenty four to seven, like.
- 17:29Speaker 8: And even you know, it's it's actually like hard.
- 17:32Speaker 2: To not think about this team.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Like a sixteen year old thinks about girls, you know, Yeah,
- 17:38Speaker 3: it's always on.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Everything, always on your mind.
- 17:42Speaker 6: I am like the meme that's like he's probably thinking
- 17:44Speaker 6: about other girls, and it's like the.
- 17:47Speaker 8: Backup left guard.
- 17:47Speaker 6: I just don't know if it's good enough, you know,
- 17:49Speaker 6: like that that's no that that like when I was
- 17:53Speaker 6: just on vacation recently and I have to really like
- 17:57Speaker 6: tell myself to stop thinking about it.
- 17:59Speaker 9: Did tweet that much?
- 18:01Speaker 2: Yeah? I had.
- 18:02Speaker 6: My screen time was down sixty percent, very proud of
- 18:06Speaker 6: that's a big number.
- 18:08Speaker 8: Yeah, I was. I basically cut my e I.
- 18:10Speaker 9: Would your screen time mid season.
- 18:13Speaker 8: No, you don't.
- 18:14Speaker 7: I wouldn't know, but it's you know, you'd laugh at mine.
- 18:17Speaker 8: That that's the job though, you know.
- 18:19Speaker 6: So that's how I justify it, is that I'm on
- 18:21Speaker 6: my phone because it used to listen.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Those who are passionate like you are the ones that
- 18:27Speaker 3: are going to be successful. Oh thanks, Fred, No, I'm serious,
- 18:29Speaker 3: keep the passion if that's what you really loved, can
- 18:33Speaker 3: you know?
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 18:34Speaker 5: So is this your way of telling us that we're
- 18:36Speaker 5: normal for having these abnormal dreams about?
- 18:39Speaker 2: No, we are normals. Yeah we are.
- 18:41Speaker 3: No. I mean, like I said, I can understand why
- 18:43Speaker 3: we did, because, like every day was what's next, what's next?
- 18:48Speaker 3: Here's the deadline? You get done done with that one,
- 18:50Speaker 3: You're immediately onto the next one.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Did you ever have the dream when you can't run?
- 18:54Speaker 11: Oh?
- 18:54Speaker 10: Yeah, well, I mean I was going to bring up
- 18:55Speaker 10: it's just right in the genre of and we all
- 18:57Speaker 10: probably have it playing sports that like you have a
- 18:59Speaker 10: game about starting you can't find the right equipment, like
- 19:02Speaker 10: I have that dream exam everywhere.
- 19:04Speaker 5: For me, it's I'm going into a final at BU
- 19:06Speaker 5: and I was not at the class all year.
- 19:09Speaker 9: I'm about to graduate.
- 19:11Speaker 4: I'm about to graduate and my counselor tells me, you
- 19:15Speaker 4: didn't go to this class once. I'm like, I didn't
- 19:17Speaker 4: know that class was on my schedule and I'm failing
- 19:19Speaker 4: it and it's like I can't graduate college. That's a
- 19:21Speaker 4: reoccurring one, or I'm getting kidnapped napped? Do you I
- 19:26Speaker 4: have dreams that you guys don't even have to think.
- 19:27Speaker 9: About as a woman.
- 19:30Speaker 8: Yeah, more than.
- 19:31Speaker 4: I'm being chased and being like yeah, and it's like
- 19:34Speaker 4: that you can never run fast enough, like you guys
- 19:36Speaker 4: are dreaming about. Never like in sports, you can't run
- 19:38Speaker 4: fast enough. I'm like being chased by someone trying to.
- 19:40Speaker 8: Find me by like a creepy Yeah.
- 19:43Speaker 2: My not being able to run is always in sports,
- 19:45Speaker 2: not not.
- 19:46Speaker 8: Yea from a person.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Yeah, anyway, I just had to because that just happened
- 19:52Speaker 3: last week.
- 19:53Speaker 10: I shared that friend. I wanted to get that out
- 19:54Speaker 10: before I forgot. You got to work through that, you know,
- 19:58Speaker 10: it's good to air it.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Why Chris Gasper, I don't know.
- 20:01Speaker 2: I don't know, yeh, p f W guys.
- 20:06Speaker 7: He doesn't have a pf W. Alum he worked with us.
- 20:10Speaker 10: It's like the thing where they like not only shoot
- 20:12Speaker 10: the person, but then they shoot the person next to
- 20:14Speaker 10: him to.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Discourage it, or you know that screws up on the
- 20:19Speaker 3: team and he makes all the teammates do.
- 20:21Speaker 2: The push ups while he watches. You know, the guilt
- 20:25Speaker 2: one do you ever have that was happy about it?
- 20:28Speaker 2: What do you mean that's happened?
- 20:30Speaker 5: Every team I've ever played for, they try that, like
- 20:32Speaker 5: they try to guilt the guy who actually did it
- 20:34Speaker 5: wrong and he has to watch this one guy, like my.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Sophomore year football just kick him back because I thought
- 20:41Speaker 2: it was great. I didn't have to run.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Friends than One of the regrets I had was it
- 20:51Speaker 3: was soccer and they had this like backboard that we
- 20:54Speaker 3: would kick and whoever got the most you know, back
- 21:00Speaker 3: forth without the ball stopping didn't have to do the
- 21:02Speaker 3: run at the end, and I got it.
- 21:04Speaker 2: And I regret not going on the.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Run anyway, because that would have shown, oh, he's going
- 21:09Speaker 3: to do it.
- 21:10Speaker 2: And I was like, Okay, I don't have to run,
- 21:12Speaker 2: but I should have done the run anyway.
- 21:14Speaker 4: Sure you're an effort guy, Yeah, yeah, why would you
- 21:17Speaker 4: cheat yourself.
- 21:18Speaker 2: The right right?
- 21:20Speaker 3: Didn't want it, not like I was in the best shape.
- 21:22Speaker 3: I could have used the run. So you do those things.
- 21:26Speaker 3: You look back and like, I wish I could do
- 21:28Speaker 3: that one over.
- 21:30Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't think about any of that.
- 21:32Speaker 3: No, No, well, okay, all right, what else? What are
- 21:41Speaker 3: we excited about? We talked about things we're concerned about.
- 21:44Speaker 3: But you know, Saturday comes out, you're out there. What's
- 21:49Speaker 3: the first thing you're going to be looking for?
- 21:51Speaker 2: A J. Brown? AJ Brown?
- 21:53Speaker 8: Yeah, A J.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Brown.
- 21:54Speaker 6: I just feel like that the more you think about,
- 21:58Speaker 6: how much that could really elevate the offense and elevate
- 22:01Speaker 6: them to another level, hopefully even better than they were
- 22:05Speaker 6: last year in some respects that it's an exciting player
- 22:08Speaker 6: to have and also a guy that I think really
- 22:10Speaker 6: wants to be here and has wanted to be here
- 22:12Speaker 6: probably since his draft and it didn't work out then,
- 22:16Speaker 6: and it's I think he said in his press conference,
- 22:18Speaker 6: you know, better late than ever, right, and so here
- 22:21Speaker 6: we are. It's pretty cool that, you know, to have
- 22:23Speaker 6: that sort of connection with the player already and he
- 22:25Speaker 6: hasn't even played a snap for you yet. To have
- 22:28Speaker 6: him really want to be here and be excited about
- 22:31Speaker 6: being here, I think that that would be every catch
- 22:34Speaker 6: he makes. I feel like we're going to be tweeting
- 22:36Speaker 6: about it and talking about it, and.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Yep, the very first thing I'll be looking for is
- 22:40Speaker 3: how big is the crowd?
- 22:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 22:42Speaker 3: How many people are here? Now it's the first time
- 22:44Speaker 3: we've ever had our first practice on a Saturday.
- 22:47Speaker 9: The weather's gonna be gorgeous.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm expecting a big turnout, nine thousand. Oh
- 22:54Speaker 2: easily easy. Easily easy, I would. The excitement's back, I mean.
- 22:57Speaker 4: And they've always had a good turn I don't know,
- 22:59Speaker 4: since I've generally.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Have really good crowds on weekends.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Yeah, and even in like the really dark days of
- 23:04Speaker 4: those two seasons back to back, training camp was still
- 23:08Speaker 4: fun and hopeful. So I can't imagine what it is
- 23:11Speaker 4: coming off a Super Bowl.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Where can you get that close to a pro football
- 23:16Speaker 5: team for free?
- 23:17Speaker 9: For free?
- 23:18Speaker 4: That's the biggest thing too, It's like, where can you
- 23:19Speaker 4: do anything great now with your kids or your family
- 23:23Speaker 4: or your friends.
- 23:23Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I was remembers sing yesterday about all
- 23:27Speaker 6: the times we went to training camp as a fan.
- 23:29Speaker 6: As you imagined, me and Barth went to training camp
- 23:31Speaker 6: as a fan quite often.
- 23:33Speaker 2: And matching sweats there was wat I got you.
- 23:38Speaker 6: I mean, core memories of coming to training camp screen
- 23:43Speaker 6: as a kid and it used to be even earlier.
- 23:47Speaker 6: Sometimes the more you know, nine am practices and you
- 23:50Speaker 6: have to wake up early and go go out to camp.
- 23:53Speaker 4: A kid that camped out the night before, like that
- 23:55Speaker 4: group of kids from Providence that does it every year.
- 23:57Speaker 6: I camp out the night before because but I was
- 24:00Speaker 6: you know, I was going to watch, you know, I
- 24:02Speaker 6: wasn't going for the autographs or something like that.
- 24:05Speaker 9: You know you're going, You're like, I don't want to
- 24:06Speaker 9: be front row. I can't see from tell to.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Figure what schemes they're running.
- 24:10Speaker 8: You know who's who hoped? You know who's the next
- 24:13Speaker 8: Zach Sudfelder. You know Riley McKay.
- 24:16Speaker 9: Where stand when you were a fan?
- 24:18Speaker 2: I usually in.
- 24:19Speaker 6: The end zone, like on the hill there behind the
- 24:22Speaker 6: the that was usually our spot of right there.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Spot, that's the best.
- 24:28Speaker 7: He nailed it when you were going.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Do you remember seeing us?
- 24:34Speaker 8: Not as much?
- 24:35Speaker 12: No.
- 24:37Speaker 6: I remember seeing like the media tent and wondering what
- 24:42Speaker 6: that was and like asking my dad, hey, like what.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Are those people? Do you know?
- 24:47Speaker 8: And that was sort of.
- 24:47Speaker 6: What put especially once I got into like middle school,
- 24:50Speaker 6: I would say, uh, you know, that's sort of what
- 24:53Speaker 6: put my mind on it of like oh, you can
- 24:54Speaker 6: do that as a job, Like that's pretty cool. So
- 24:58Speaker 6: but yeah, I do remember that for and I remember,
- 25:02Speaker 6: you know, the all the radio you guys are ninety
- 25:05Speaker 6: five or whatever doing broadcast from training camp, you know,
- 25:08Speaker 6: and I'm listening to those as well. But we used
- 25:10Speaker 6: I used to go as many times as I could
- 25:12Speaker 6: in the summertime, you know, probably went to four or
- 25:15Speaker 6: five practices the year. And yessterday, I was telling the
- 25:18Speaker 6: one about the one, uh the joint practice with Tampa
- 25:20Speaker 6: where Brady got hurt.
- 25:21Speaker 2: And yeah, I was at that one.
- 25:23Speaker 8: Yeah, so that was tough.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Hush fell over there. Yeah, I used to go to
- 25:28Speaker 2: I used to go too.
- 25:29Speaker 10: I mean, I think my first pilgrimage was like twenty
- 25:31Speaker 10: fourteen or like, I got to go to training camp practice,
- 25:33Speaker 10: but I got to shout out pulse blobservations. I love
- 25:36Speaker 10: always reading what he rose streets after the practices. I
- 25:38Speaker 10: thought that was, you know, one of the must read
- 25:40Speaker 10: things that you know. And I don't know why I
- 25:43Speaker 10: thought this, but I remember when I started working, I
- 25:44Speaker 10: was like, no, I feel like I see the game
- 25:45Speaker 10: similarly to Paul, Like I always thought, like, I don't
- 25:47Speaker 10: know why I thought that.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Like I mean, I guess we do.
- 25:49Speaker 10: I don't know, but but I always that was always a.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Must read for me.
- 25:52Speaker 10: And as being in California, you know, you get all
- 25:55Speaker 10: the tweets and you just that's how you compile everything.
- 25:57Speaker 10: And you know, that was my biggest FOMO when I
- 25:59Speaker 10: was blogging, was just like I wish I was there,
- 26:02Speaker 10: you know. And I remember when I got the job
- 26:04Speaker 10: and I hadn't started yet, but camp had started. I
- 26:06Speaker 10: remember sitting in the media tent and you guys were
- 26:09Speaker 10: doing like live radio, you Eric, Meghan and you two,
- 26:12Speaker 10: and you know, being like, wow, this is pretty cool,
- 26:14Speaker 10: Like I'm going to be on with those guys, and
- 26:16Speaker 10: you know, it was that was when it all started
- 26:18Speaker 10: to feel feel real. But it's it's super fun. It's
- 26:20Speaker 10: a great take. I mean, it'll be super fun. Like
- 26:22Speaker 10: Saturday morning, I'll be so excited. Then by about an
- 26:24Speaker 10: hour and a half into the practice, I'll be like, Okay,
- 26:26Speaker 10: when's the past practice?
- 26:27Speaker 2: When's the brats?
- 26:28Speaker 5: But you know, you just it keeps you kind of
- 26:30Speaker 5: wish you could get those first four over with, but
- 26:33Speaker 5: you know, it's all part of the process.
- 26:34Speaker 3: The only thing we don't look forward to is when's
- 26:36Speaker 3: that first preseason.
- 26:37Speaker 10: Game, right right, But I am really interested to see
- 26:41Speaker 10: what the crowd is like just coming off a Super Bowl.
- 26:43Speaker 10: I mean, I think there was a lot of optimism
- 26:45Speaker 10: last year that they were going to start to build
- 26:47Speaker 10: something good, but I don't think anybody obviously expected them
- 26:50Speaker 10: to be as good as they were. And now that
- 26:52Speaker 10: you're starting to have some star power, it's people you
- 26:55Speaker 10: want to come see. You want to come see a j. Brown,
- 26:57Speaker 10: You want to come see Drake May. And I remember
- 26:59Speaker 10: sitting when we're watching Brady back in the day, being like,
- 27:01Speaker 10: how cool is this? You get to come be right
- 27:03Speaker 10: next to Tom Brady, and you know, even as you
- 27:05Speaker 10: get farther away from that, it's just wow. You got
- 27:07Speaker 10: to take advantage of these opportunities to especially the joint
- 27:10Speaker 10: practices with the Colts and the Eagles. What I mean competitive,
- 27:14Speaker 10: I mean, don't waste your money in the preseason.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Go to that. Go to that and you're going to
- 27:17Speaker 2: see all you need to do and go to the
- 27:19Speaker 2: preseason game. Yeah yeah, but that's at.
- 27:22Speaker 7: Least watch on TV and the bobs just count.
- 27:25Speaker 3: If you want to talk about a good take, those
- 27:27Speaker 3: joint practices will be really cool.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I mean past I would. I would guess they're going
- 27:33Speaker 2: to be representation will.
- 27:35Speaker 9: Be national media people will be there just because of
- 27:38Speaker 9: the optics of Big Jays.
- 27:41Speaker 5: Yeah, Alex, did you ever go to training camp practice
- 27:43Speaker 5: before you were in a Western mask?
- 27:46Speaker 2: That's a long run.
- 27:47Speaker 9: I covered it, but like, yeah, that's.
- 27:50Speaker 2: The only time. I mean, I never I never went
- 27:52Speaker 2: up without covering it.
- 27:54Speaker 6: I think this is the most anticipation of a training camp,
- 28:00Speaker 6: excitement of a trading camp since Brady was here. I mean,
- 28:04Speaker 6: like last year we thought optimism, but you didn't think
- 28:08Speaker 6: super Bowl run. Yeah, I mean I can't really think
- 28:11Speaker 6: of another, probably twenty nineteen when they won the Super
- 28:13Speaker 6: Bowl in eighteen and Brady and we're still going.
- 28:16Speaker 5: What would be the least amount of success the team
- 28:19Speaker 5: could have that you would still deem the season to success.
- 28:23Speaker 8: The least making the playoffs, but maybe.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I would make the plays is good? Yeah, I
- 28:28Speaker 2: want to win the AFC East, I agree.
- 28:30Speaker 6: Yeah, if they made the playoffs as a wild card,
- 28:32Speaker 6: Fred's a little higher's Fred's AFC East title or bust? Yeah,
- 28:36Speaker 6: I would say if they make the playoffs, that that
- 28:40Speaker 6: sort of valid hi program.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Yeah, if you make.
- 28:42Speaker 6: The playoffs and you go on a road playoff game
- 28:44Speaker 6: as a wildcard team to Buffalo or Baltimore or something
- 28:48Speaker 6: like that and lose, like depends on how If you lose,
- 28:51Speaker 6: like the US lost to Belgium, I'll be.
- 28:53Speaker 5: Mad, But if you lose in a competitive game, I
- 28:55Speaker 5: think you'll be mad and disappointed in all that stuff.
- 28:58Speaker 5: I'm just saying, big picture, they were, you know, so
- 29:02Speaker 5: far exceeded our expectations last year. What would they have
- 29:05Speaker 5: to do minim minimally to sort of keep the vibes going?
- 29:09Speaker 5: And I would say, if you don't make the playoffs
- 29:11Speaker 5: at all, you know, obviously this is barring a rash
- 29:13Speaker 5: of injuries. You know, if if you if you lose
- 29:17Speaker 5: you know, four or five of your really important players,
- 29:19Speaker 5: Drake may being one of them, and you don't make
- 29:21Speaker 5: the playoffs, I don't think anybody's going to say, wow,
- 29:23Speaker 5: I was a disaster of a season and whatever they've
- 29:26Speaker 5: done well.
- 29:26Speaker 6: Like how do you think that you know, just on
- 29:29Speaker 6: that point, like, how do you think Commanders fans feel exactly?
- 29:33Speaker 6: Because you could say Jayden Daniels got hurt and that's
- 29:37Speaker 6: why their season went up in flames last year, right,
- 29:39Speaker 6: But I'd also say that if you look at the
- 29:41Speaker 6: betting odds of the next head coach fired, Dan Quinn
- 29:44Speaker 6: is really high on those lists, right, And I'm not
- 29:46Speaker 6: saying that about Mike Rabel, but like, if you have
- 29:49Speaker 6: a season from hell like that, like Washington had last year,
- 29:52Speaker 6: then the following season becomes a pressure season need results.
- 29:57Speaker 6: And I think that's where Washington, you.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Know, and there's a good list of you know, teams
- 30:02Speaker 3: that lose the Super Bowl that the next year they
- 30:04Speaker 3: just kind of fall apart, you know, and you don't
- 30:08Speaker 3: want to be on that list. You want to come
- 30:10Speaker 3: back and show that we deserve to be there. It
- 30:13Speaker 3: was no floke, sustained excellence. I think that's the hardest
- 30:17Speaker 3: thing to do in this league.
- 30:18Speaker 10: A lot of teams have a great year, they put
- 30:20Speaker 10: together a great free agency class, it all kind of
- 30:22Speaker 10: comes together, and then maybe it withers a little bit.
- 30:25Speaker 10: But that to me is what it's about. Is, you know,
- 30:27Speaker 10: they did a great job last year on the fly,
- 30:29Speaker 10: bringing a staff together, a lot of different pieces coming together,
- 30:32Speaker 10: and it all seemed to work. Can they you know,
- 30:34Speaker 10: continue to feel like you have a program, you know?
- 30:36Speaker 10: And I feel like that's what they showed last year,
- 30:39Speaker 10: that they knew what they were doing, so hopefully they
- 30:41Speaker 10: were able to keep those vibes going. And I just again,
- 30:43Speaker 10: I expect it to be a little tougher. I expect
- 30:45Speaker 10: the injuries to be a little bit tougher. I don't
- 30:47Speaker 10: think the depth is great in a lot of spots.
- 30:48Speaker 2: There's a couple of key positions.
- 30:50Speaker 10: If they lose a guy, it's going to get interesting
- 30:52Speaker 10: really fast.
- 30:54Speaker 2: So we'll see.
- 30:54Speaker 10: And that's you know, what I'm excited about is just
- 30:56Speaker 10: to see who's going to surprise us?
- 30:58Speaker 2: Like, who are we not talking about that?
- 31:01Speaker 10: Once you get into camp and the pads come on
- 31:03Speaker 10: and all of a sudden, there's a guy out there
- 31:05Speaker 10: that or two that, Wow, this guy.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Can play football.
- 31:08Speaker 10: Like you know, you're not going to jump out when
- 31:10Speaker 10: you're out there in shorts and T shirts, but you know,
- 31:13Speaker 10: and those are the kind of things when they happen,
- 31:14Speaker 10: I think it's a great sign for your program that
- 31:16Speaker 10: you're having guys excel and arise above what you might
- 31:20Speaker 10: have expected from them.
- 31:21Speaker 3: So the system is working.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Yeah, they need them. They need them this year, all right.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Eight five five past five hundred is the Hotline podcast
- 31:29Speaker 3: at Patriots dot Com. Is the email address. What are
- 31:32Speaker 3: you going to be looking for with training camp or
- 31:34Speaker 3: you know, even if you're not here, what stories are
- 31:37Speaker 3: you expecting to emerge? You know what? What what are
- 31:41Speaker 3: your hopes for training camp in particular stay healthy?
- 31:45Speaker 2: Yeah? Oh geez, you know that's well it's already.
- 31:48Speaker 10: Nick s Gordon already went on day one of panthers.
- 31:51Speaker 10: I mean, I can't stand that. I can't stand the injuries.
- 31:54Speaker 10: It's so frustrated.
- 31:55Speaker 3: Kyle from Pembroke writes in writing to give Evan a warning,
- 32:00Speaker 3: the art of training camp is shirts and shorts. Players
- 32:03Speaker 3: like Pop and Kyle Williams shine in this time a
- 32:05Speaker 3: lot like Taekwon Thornton. So don't get taekwond again, Evan.
- 32:10Speaker 3: It's your kryptonite.
- 32:12Speaker 6: We talked about it yesterday because we were talking about
- 32:14Speaker 6: those two guys specifically, and Kyle Williams maybe being someone
- 32:18Speaker 6: that is a breakout, your two breakout kind of candidate,
- 32:21Speaker 6: And I said, you know, speed guys early in camp.
- 32:24Speaker 6: I'm not gonna take the cheese. It gonna have to
- 32:26Speaker 6: see it once the pads come on. But you know,
- 32:28Speaker 6: I think those two guys popping Kyle Williams offer a
- 32:32Speaker 6: speed element that you know the other guy's Brown Dobbs,
- 32:35Speaker 6: Booty Hollins that they're not necessarily built like that, so
- 32:40Speaker 6: they're gonna need one of those guys, I think to
- 32:42Speaker 6: offer some stretch of the field, speed of element, which
- 32:46Speaker 6: one is it.
- 32:47Speaker 3: On a serious note, what young players are you excited
- 32:50Speaker 3: to see or hopeful that they take the next step.
- 32:53Speaker 3: I'm excited about Braden Swinson. He has hype out of
- 32:57Speaker 3: the draft last year, and with Landry and uh Acus
- 33:00Speaker 3: out he should have opportunities.
- 33:02Speaker 7: He will have opportunities.
- 33:05Speaker 5: I want to I have a little bit of a
- 33:06Speaker 5: to Mario Douglas take oh pop Yeah?
- 33:10Speaker 8: Is he popping for you?
- 33:11Speaker 5: No? I would absolutely sign up right now for a
- 33:15Speaker 5: repeat of his year last year. I think that he
- 33:18Speaker 5: was a valuable part of that as a complimentary piece.
- 33:21Speaker 5: And I think the problem sort of the perception of
- 33:24Speaker 5: to Mario Douglas being I think is kind of negative
- 33:27Speaker 5: right now. And I think the reason for that is
- 33:30Speaker 5: two years ago, everybody thought that he was something that
- 33:32Speaker 5: he wasn't and he was overrated by the fans, and
- 33:37Speaker 5: I think people felt like he was this one hundred
- 33:38Speaker 5: catch guy in the in the you know, the next Edelman,
- 33:41Speaker 5: the next Welker, and he's going to be a high
- 33:43Speaker 5: volume slot guy, and I don't really.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Think that's the strength of his game.
- 33:47Speaker 5: I think what he showed last year is he can
- 33:50Speaker 5: come up in big spots and make big plays when
- 33:52Speaker 5: Drake may needs him, and he didn't make every single
- 33:55Speaker 5: one of them. There was like the fourth the failed
- 33:57Speaker 5: fourth down against Pittsburgh.
- 33:58Speaker 7: I think that ended that game.
- 34:00Speaker 5: There was a quick screen to him on a on
- 34:02Speaker 5: a blitz and he kind of cut the wrong way
- 34:04Speaker 5: like a bad It was a bad play. No, I'm
- 34:06Speaker 5: just I want to be fair. I'm trying to pump
- 34:08Speaker 5: the guy up, but I want to point out some
- 34:10Speaker 5: of his shortcomings too. I just feel like if you
- 34:14Speaker 5: think of him as this hundred catch guy like like Edelman,
- 34:17Speaker 5: you'll be disappointed. But if you think of him for
- 34:18Speaker 5: what he is, I think he's a valuable part of
- 34:21Speaker 5: the offense and he made some big plays for them
- 34:23Speaker 5: last year, not the least of which was the fourth
- 34:26Speaker 5: down touchdown in the Houston playoff game, which I think
- 34:29Speaker 5: was was huge in that game. Yeah, I think that
- 34:33Speaker 5: people are kind of sleeping on him and they want to.
- 34:36Speaker 5: I think they've had enough of him, and I don't
- 34:38Speaker 5: think it's fair. I think he's a better player than
- 34:40Speaker 5: people give him credit for.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I hear what you're saying too.
- 34:42Speaker 10: It's because he's not the Edelman in that quick note
- 34:45Speaker 10: that you know, but he's more of a speed guy.
- 34:47Speaker 10: He more of a downfield threat. That was where a
- 34:49Speaker 10: lot of his plays happened. And just my opinion of
- 34:52Speaker 10: him in mini camp was he very involved. You know,
- 34:54Speaker 10: it seemed Drake was. He was praising him knowing where
- 34:57Speaker 10: to be.
- 34:57Speaker 5: Which opposite we heard saying, like, you know, shorts and
- 35:00Speaker 5: T shirts don't get fooled by Tomrio Douglas. I haven't
- 35:03Speaker 5: been fooled by Tomarrio Douglas. He looks good in practice
- 35:06Speaker 5: and he looks good in games when he's called upon.
- 35:08Speaker 5: He's not a hundred catch guy like I don't think
- 35:11Speaker 5: that's the way the offense is going to run. And
- 35:13Speaker 5: I think the biggest part of the reason for that
- 35:15Speaker 5: is I don't think Drake May wants to do that.
- 35:17Speaker 5: I don't think he wants to throw one hundred five
- 35:19Speaker 5: yard crossing routes. That's not the to steal Evans line
- 35:24Speaker 5: about Drake May all the time. That's not his superpower.
- 35:27Speaker 5: That's not what he does best.
- 35:28Speaker 2: His best.
- 35:29Speaker 7: He's had at his best when he's making big plays.
- 35:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I remember last year writing about it and slipped
- 35:35Speaker 6: it up. Averaged nine point seven are yards of target
- 35:38Speaker 6: last year, which is a career high for Tomorrio Douglas.
- 35:40Speaker 6: And there was that period of time, especially around that
- 35:42Speaker 6: New Orleans game where he caught that bomb from Drake
- 35:45Speaker 6: May in that game where his a dot was just
- 35:48Speaker 6: like through the roof. It was like close to twenty
- 35:51Speaker 6: And you know the reason.
- 35:52Speaker 13: Why at average depth of target's learning this stuff, Okay,
- 35:59Speaker 13: And I remember talking to him about it and he said,
- 36:02Speaker 13: you know, this is what I did at Liberty.
- 36:04Speaker 6: Like at Liberty, I was a vertical slot. I was
- 36:07Speaker 6: a speed slot down the field, double moves, things like
- 36:10Speaker 6: that Mount cooks And yeah, not not the five yard
- 36:14Speaker 6: jitterbug routes, right, that wasn't my my thing. And he
- 36:17Speaker 6: fell a lot more at home and a lot more,
- 36:19Speaker 6: you know, comfortable with those targets down the field versus
- 36:22Speaker 6: the targets closer to the line of scrimmage to Paul's points.
- 36:25Speaker 6: So you know it's that's maybe that's the type of
- 36:28Speaker 6: guy his I'd still like to see him be a
- 36:29Speaker 6: little bit more consistent, you know, at the underneath stuff
- 36:32Speaker 6: and then finding the soft spots and knowing when to
- 36:35Speaker 6: sit and knowing you know, when to run away and
- 36:37Speaker 6: things like that. But I do think that he's definitely,
- 36:41Speaker 6: at his core more of a vertical field stretcher than
- 36:45Speaker 6: he is Julian Edelman or Welker one of those guys,
- 36:48Speaker 6: and maybe they kind of discovered that last year and
- 36:51Speaker 6: that's what allowed him to produce a little bit.
- 36:54Speaker 5: Okay, that said, after I go on that big defense,
- 36:57Speaker 5: still probably trade Onmark Cut himself.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Because he's going to.
- 37:02Speaker 5: He is going into the last last year of his deal.
- 37:04Speaker 5: So yeah, I think him and Booty are definite candidates,
- 37:07Speaker 5: you know, if they're looking too.
- 37:09Speaker 2: I mean, that's a great question.
- 37:10Speaker 10: Is is Booty out there on Saturday and working and
- 37:14Speaker 10: just seems like he's here till they decide he's not
- 37:17Speaker 10: or he decides he doesn't want to be.
- 37:19Speaker 2: That's a great question.
- 37:20Speaker 9: He's been in the area, so it seems like it.
- 37:22Speaker 10: I you know, I just highlight a position. I think
- 37:24Speaker 10: that's really hard in training camp, running back position. With
- 37:28Speaker 10: l Jennings starting on the NFI list, so he is
- 37:31Speaker 10: going to be out of the mix at least for
- 37:32Speaker 10: a little bit. You know, jam Miller, Evans, Sky Land, Larison.
- 37:36Speaker 10: You know, how do those reps look like? Are those
- 37:38Speaker 10: guys returning kicks? You know, who might have the inside
- 37:41Speaker 10: track on that RB three kick returner kind of job.
- 37:44Speaker 2: I think it's a job that is up for grabs.
- 37:47Speaker 10: And I'm curious if those jam Miller, Land Larrison, even
- 37:51Speaker 10: the undrafted guy Miles Montgomery.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Have little juice, some pop, you know.
- 37:54Speaker 10: I I just it scares me trying to think about
- 37:57Speaker 10: going through the season just with Remandre and Henderson next year.
- 38:00Speaker 2: You know again, I'd love to just have a.
- 38:01Speaker 10: Third guy to help manage things a little bit and
- 38:03Speaker 10: protect them. But we'll see if somebody emerges.
- 38:06Speaker 2: And so.
- 38:08Speaker 3: You mentioned the running backs, I immediately think of the
- 38:11Speaker 3: offensive line in front of them. What will be that lineup,
- 38:15Speaker 3: first team lineup on day one?
- 38:18Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 38:18Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean I think I think it's it's Amble,
- 38:21Speaker 10: Avt and Wilson on Wnu and Moses and I just
- 38:25Speaker 10: my question is how much does Moses practice?
- 38:27Speaker 2: How much do they manage him? And where does Lomu
- 38:30Speaker 2: work in as as Evan.
- 38:31Speaker 10: Talked about on Tuesday, How does he get his reps?
- 38:34Speaker 10: I think it's going to be opportunity for him to
- 38:35Speaker 10: get some right tackle reps. But we'll see how that
- 38:38Speaker 10: all plays out. It's just does the guard thing continue?
- 38:41Speaker 10: Was that something in mini camp? They were just kind
- 38:42Speaker 10: of let's see how we look, let's get it on tape.
- 38:45Speaker 10: I forget it, let's scrap it for training camp.
- 38:47Speaker 3: You know, based on history, Paul, when they try things
- 38:50Speaker 3: like that in the spring, they sometimes start off in
- 38:56Speaker 3: training camp doing it too, don't.
- 38:58Speaker 2: They challenge over it?
- 39:00Speaker 5: Changes sometimes, like in you know, Bill would say, you know,
- 39:04Speaker 5: we wanted to start him doing the thing that he
- 39:06Speaker 5: hadn't done because we wanted to give him a little
- 39:08Speaker 5: bit more of about like Eugene Wilson's safety corner thing.
- 39:11Speaker 5: You know, We're going to have him do a little
- 39:13Speaker 5: bit more of the thing that he hadn't done a
- 39:14Speaker 5: lot of in college, right, so we can fall back
- 39:17Speaker 5: on it and then camp comes around and he's back
- 39:19Speaker 5: at his traditional spot. But I've absolutely seen it the
- 39:22Speaker 5: other way too, where they did something in the spring
- 39:24Speaker 5: and you need to see a sudden you know, you know,
- 39:27Speaker 5: day two, day three, you see the same thing you
- 39:29Speaker 5: saw in the spring, like, oh, maybe they like him
- 39:31Speaker 5: in that role.
- 39:32Speaker 2: It wasn't like Troy Brown at corner something that was
- 39:34Speaker 2: that was camping right well, that you'd see it in camp.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you see those as back up And.
- 39:39Speaker 5: Because I don't know if you knew, but like Bill knew,
- 39:42Speaker 5: they were going to lose seventeen cornerbacks that year.
- 39:44Speaker 2: So I was getting really frustrated.
- 39:47Speaker 7: And maybe that's why I have dreams.
- 39:49Speaker 3: I was getting really frustrated with your show the other day,
- 39:52Speaker 3: one of your shows.
- 39:54Speaker 7: So can you tell me what show it was? So
- 39:56Speaker 7: I can the.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Main one, that's what it. Would you say that Stefan
- 40:03Speaker 3: Diggs had good numbers last year? Yeah, okay, good. So
- 40:07Speaker 3: they were saying they were comparing Stefan diggs numbers to
- 40:11Speaker 3: A J. Brown's numbers as as like, well A J.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Brown had the same numbers as as Stefon Diggs. As
- 40:16Speaker 3: if that's not good.
- 40:19Speaker 5: So I would say that Diggs had a better year
- 40:22Speaker 5: than Brown last year, but there was far a few
- 40:25Speaker 5: numbers were much more efficient. Evan talked about that on Tuesday,
- 40:29Speaker 5: the eighty three percent efficient rating.
- 40:31Speaker 7: Now they're asked to do different things too, Brown, but if.
- 40:34Speaker 3: He ends up with those numbers. Again, that's a good season.
- 40:38Speaker 2: What numbers? So Brown ends up with like eighty five
- 40:41Speaker 2: for one thousand.
- 40:42Speaker 5: I'd be disappointed really yeah, unless he like there's like
- 40:46Speaker 5: twelve touchdowns or something.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Like that, that's well again you got to see context.
- 40:50Speaker 3: Are those plays that he's making helping you win football games?
- 40:53Speaker 2: Well?
- 40:53Speaker 6: And also like what's the trickle down effect? Like he
- 40:56Speaker 6: only having right is the.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Only Romeo Dogs have ninety catches because.
- 41:00Speaker 4: He's Drake right really spreading it out.
- 41:04Speaker 8: Like that's what happened last year with Dick.
- 41:05Speaker 6: You know, they had Digs at a thousand, they had
- 41:07Speaker 6: Matt Collins, Kishan Boody, a bunch of guys at like
- 41:09Speaker 6: four or five hundred behind him, and they had the
- 41:13Speaker 6: number one EPA offense in the league. You know, so right,
- 41:16Speaker 6: You know, I think that that depends on how the
- 41:18Speaker 6: ball is spread out.
- 41:19Speaker 3: But you know, like you can't in one breath say,
- 41:21Speaker 3: you know, Stefon Diggs they got rid of him, he
- 41:23Speaker 3: had great numbers, and then take those numbers and say,
- 41:25Speaker 3: well A J. Brown had kind of the same numbers
- 41:27Speaker 3: as a negative.
- 41:29Speaker 7: You know, I don't think he had the same numbers,
- 41:31Speaker 7: but yeah, that's all I.
- 41:33Speaker 5: Mean they were talking must make a good point about
- 41:36Speaker 5: the trickle down effect of the offense if you see
- 41:38Speaker 5: that if Dobbs has really good numbers too, then obviously.
- 41:42Speaker 3: And then they were comparing A. J. Brown's numbers to
- 41:45Speaker 3: this guy in the Cardinals Wilson. Uh, who's the Michael Wilson,
- 41:50Speaker 3: Mike Wilson. We had the same numbers as Mike Wilson.
- 41:52Speaker 3: Nobody knows who Mike Wilson had good numbers? Like what,
- 41:56Speaker 3: I don't.
- 41:57Speaker 2: I didn't understand what they were trying to do. Well,
- 41:59Speaker 2: It's also part of it.
- 42:00Speaker 10: AJ Brown was kind of miscast in the Philadelphia offense
- 42:02Speaker 10: that wasn't built to play to his strengths and give
- 42:05Speaker 10: him fully feed him.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Like he should have been fed. So yeah, I think
- 42:08Speaker 2: that's big part of it.
- 42:09Speaker 6: One of the good phrases I've heard about AJ Brown
- 42:12Speaker 6: and all the commentary is, you know the Eagles didn't
- 42:15Speaker 6: help him age gracefully, where like you have things that
- 42:18Speaker 6: offensive coordinators can do, especially lining him up more in
- 42:21Speaker 6: the slot or you know, giving him free releases and
- 42:24Speaker 6: finding ways to get him away from coverage, that the
- 42:27Speaker 6: Eagles were just kind of like you're playing the X
- 42:29Speaker 6: and you're staple to the outside. He's running ninety percent
- 42:31Speaker 6: of his routes or something like that from out from
- 42:33Speaker 6: the outside. Josh McDaniels, I think is going to be
- 42:36Speaker 6: a lot more creative with him, and that might allow
- 42:38Speaker 6: him like he did with Diggs last year, at this
- 42:41Speaker 6: stage of his career, I don't know if AJ Brown
- 42:42Speaker 6: is the same guy he was three or four.
- 42:44Speaker 3: I think last year was a weird year for him,
- 42:46Speaker 3: and I think Paul you and I agree on this.
- 42:49Speaker 3: When you watch the Eagles game, and they were on
- 42:51Speaker 3: a lot, so you got to watch those games, the
- 42:53Speaker 3: AJ Brown portion of the offense seemed forced. It didn't
- 42:57Speaker 3: seem like That's.
- 42:57Speaker 5: Why I don't think he had good numbers because I
- 42:59Speaker 5: think they with the ball to him a lot. Yeah,
- 43:01Speaker 5: and he had the same numbers as Diggs, who has
- 43:05Speaker 5: Evan pointed out on Tuesday, didn't get the ball thrown
- 43:08Speaker 5: to him a lot as much.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Yeah, they had.
- 43:11Speaker 7: Difference in targets, but.
- 43:14Speaker 3: It just didn't seem like he fit or they wanted
- 43:17Speaker 3: him to fit in that offense. And maybe that was
- 43:19Speaker 3: part of his frustration with Hurts, Like Hurts almost seem
- 43:24Speaker 3: like you need to go to a j Brown now,
- 43:26Speaker 3: you know, maybe there's.
- 43:28Speaker 6: Just a much different offense. You know, they didn't target
- 43:30Speaker 6: him over the field as much as in the middle
- 43:32Speaker 6: of the field as I think the Patriots will. They
- 43:34Speaker 6: didn't target him off play action as much as I
- 43:36Speaker 6: think the Patriots will. So I think that there's just
- 43:38Speaker 6: going to be different scheme elements of how they're using
- 43:41Speaker 6: him that are going to hopefully accentuate his straints and
- 43:45Speaker 6: get him back to being closer to the player than
- 43:47Speaker 6: he was a couple of years ago.
- 43:48Speaker 3: So my point to run this whole thing back is
- 43:52Speaker 3: if A. J. Brown has the same numbers as he
- 43:55Speaker 3: did last year, it can look very different even with
- 43:58Speaker 3: the same numbers.
- 44:00Speaker 2: You know, I like the.
- 44:02Speaker 7: Point that you guys made about the rest of the offense.
- 44:04Speaker 5: That could make those same numbers look a lot better
- 44:08Speaker 5: if there's a better efficiency.
- 44:10Speaker 2: You know, take some pressure off at Dobbs too.
- 44:13Speaker 10: You know when he was like the crown jewel of
- 44:15Speaker 10: before they signed AJ Brown a lot on him.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Is he going to produce? But maybe that's good for him, Like.
- 44:20Speaker 5: Does it create a lot of light boxes? Do you
- 44:22Speaker 5: run the ball better? Because you have to, you know,
- 44:24Speaker 5: account more for AJ Brown than.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Maybe you did last year with Jes Diggs.
- 44:28Speaker 6: That's historically been what's happened on AJ Brown's teams. You know,
- 44:32Speaker 6: tightands Eagles. They see a lot of light boxes because
- 44:35Speaker 6: people play with the safety over the top of AJ
- 44:37Speaker 6: Brown and Sakwon Bartley runs for two thousand yards because
- 44:41Speaker 6: he's running into lighter boxes all game long. You know,
- 44:43Speaker 6: those are the things that you hope don't show up
- 44:45Speaker 6: on the stat sheet, that you hope that he brings
- 44:47Speaker 6: to the data.
- 44:47Speaker 3: All right, so preseason predictions. How many people think the
- 44:51Speaker 3: Patriots offense will.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Be top five? I do well, top five and what,
- 44:56Speaker 2: well whatever whatever a top five.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Ye well, okay, I'm just asking this.
- 45:02Speaker 7: Ye I'll say, yeah, I think the offense should be
- 45:04Speaker 7: better this year.
- 45:05Speaker 2: I mean there were second in points.
- 45:06Speaker 3: They're going to play better defenses.
- 45:08Speaker 4: I think that's my thing. I feel like six six six.
- 45:11Speaker 4: I don't know why, Alex, just because I feel like
- 45:13Speaker 4: if I come in the top five, they'll just be fringe.
- 45:16Speaker 9: But that could be a really good thing. Yeah, they're playing.
- 45:20Speaker 7: You could make an argument six against this.
- 45:22Speaker 4: Their objective objectively much better in the whatever the metrics say,
- 45:27Speaker 4: I don't care.
- 45:28Speaker 6: They're all going to be like thirty five points a game,
- 45:30Speaker 6: So the Patriots will be at like twenty nine and
- 45:32Speaker 6: they'll be like.
- 45:33Speaker 8: That's still good.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:34Speaker 10: I think they're going to be a really good offense.
- 45:36Speaker 10: That's just the question of health. And you know, it's
- 45:38Speaker 10: all a lot on Drake. That's the seat. He'll figure
- 45:40Speaker 10: out the ceiling. But I mean, they they've done everything
- 45:43Speaker 10: you can do that's supporting him. They're getting weapons, they're
- 45:46Speaker 10: investing draft capital in the offensive line, you know, almost
- 45:50Speaker 10: to the detriment of the defense a little bit. I mean,
- 45:51Speaker 10: they're kind of hanging on with this defense right now,
- 45:54Speaker 10: which is fine, but you know, at some point they're
- 45:55Speaker 10: gonna have to start investing a little bit more on
- 45:57Speaker 10: the defensive side of the bath.
- 45:58Speaker 3: All right, lots of email, there's lots of calls coming in.
- 46:01Speaker 3: Let's start hearing what you have to say. We'll start
- 46:04Speaker 3: with Larry in Wisconsin. What's up, Larry? Larry? Larry didn't
- 46:13Speaker 3: take the cheese in Wisconsin?
- 46:14Speaker 2: Okay, he's gone.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Well it's Christian in La.
- 46:19Speaker 14: A yeah, Christian in la You know what Usually I say, Hey,
- 46:24Speaker 14: you guys got a little happiness in me? Oh they
- 46:27Speaker 14: going into going into trading camp. Do you know who
- 46:30Speaker 14: I'm excited about. I'm excited about seeing our first, first
- 46:34Speaker 14: and second round draft pick for form just like it
- 46:36Speaker 14: was last year. Wait a minute, I wasn't excited last
- 46:39Speaker 14: year because he made mistakes in the first two rounds.
- 46:41Speaker 14: About draft picks, Oh here we got this year. Oh
- 46:44Speaker 14: yeah we did, because I wasn't excited for short arms
- 46:46Speaker 14: Will Campbell to get blown away. You know what, the
- 46:49Speaker 14: first round draft pick is supposed to be an impact player,
- 46:52Speaker 14: and Will Campbell was an impact player last year. You
- 46:54Speaker 14: know what kind of impact he had? Impact will play
- 46:57Speaker 14: for the other team during the playoffs. It's not gonna play.
- 47:04Speaker 14: I don't care how you guys say, Oh yeah, we're
- 47:06Speaker 14: gonna switch Loe more around. Lobo was supposed to be
- 47:08Speaker 14: an impact player. He's our first round pick. You guys
- 47:10Speaker 14: are mellily mouthed about it, and you try to make
- 47:11Speaker 14: excuses for it.
- 47:12Speaker 3: I am not.
- 47:13Speaker 14: I am not excited about the two first round draft
- 47:15Speaker 14: picks because the second guy isn't even gonna play. So
- 47:18Speaker 14: that's that's that's my gripe. Now, on positive side of it,
- 47:22Speaker 14: you guys are being million mouthed about what you think
- 47:23Speaker 14: this team is gonna accomplish. I can't believe you guys
- 47:26Speaker 14: are gonna sit there and the team that was in
- 47:28Speaker 14: the super Bowl, it was not a fluke because every
- 47:30Speaker 14: game in the NFL is hard to win no matter
- 47:32Speaker 14: who you play. So forget the schedule stuff, and then
- 47:35Speaker 14: we are. We were a top five offers last year.
- 47:37Speaker 14: Our running game was top five and six, and our
- 47:40Speaker 14: defense was pretty damn good. And you guys are sitting
- 47:43Speaker 14: there letting people tell you, guys that, oh, you know,
- 47:45Speaker 14: it's gonna be a harder schedule the Patriots. I'm not
- 47:46Speaker 14: gonna get fourteen wins, you know what I mean? Wins
- 47:48Speaker 14: we're gonna get. We're gonna get thirteen to fourteen wins again. Anyway,
- 47:51Speaker 14: you named anybody on our schedule that you see that
- 47:54Speaker 14: you guys think right off the bat can beat us?
- 47:57Speaker 14: Just tell me yeah, competitive, yes, But who do you
- 47:59Speaker 14: think can beat us?
- 48:00Speaker 3: Well, if they're competitive, they can beat us, and we
- 48:03Speaker 3: can beat them. It's you know, that's the idea of competitive.
- 48:07Speaker 5: Let me put it through a schedule and see if
- 48:08Speaker 5: I can find a team that might be able to
- 48:10Speaker 5: beat them.
- 48:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 48:12Speaker 12: The first game, guess what, see, I was top two
- 48:16Speaker 12: defensive guys are gone.
- 48:18Speaker 14: So at the top running back, who won the who won.
- 48:20Speaker 3: The Okay, so maybe that'll make make a difference.
- 48:24Speaker 5: But maybe that'll make the game competitive this time because
- 48:26Speaker 5: it wasn't the last.
- 48:27Speaker 8: Time Devin Witherspoon get traded.
- 48:29Speaker 2: I don't know, like, get sorry, we stepped on.
- 48:37Speaker 3: We're all negative. It's okay, he's not negative.
- 48:41Speaker 2: I want to know.
- 48:42Speaker 8: I want to know who he's talking about. What do
- 48:43Speaker 8: you mean? Top two defensive guys got trades.
- 48:45Speaker 2: He's allowed to say that.
- 48:46Speaker 5: All the draft picks think gone. That's not negative. He's
- 48:50Speaker 5: allowed to say that because it's Christian saying it. So
- 48:52Speaker 5: that's that's he's keeping it real, right, But we're being
- 48:55Speaker 5: negative by not knowing that they're going to win every game, right.
- 48:58Speaker 6: I'm asking him a question, who are the top two
- 49:01Speaker 6: defensive guys in Seattle that are gone?
- 49:02Speaker 8: Christian?
- 49:04Speaker 2: There I think is gone, right tree quallon their third corner? Yeah,
- 49:11Speaker 2: so what did he.
- 49:12Speaker 14: Wasn't he one of the guys that that they considered, Oh,
- 49:15Speaker 14: guys like a shut down guys guys doing that that
- 49:17Speaker 14: that helped their defense stay at the top. They can
- 49:20Speaker 14: kick two safety because.
- 49:21Speaker 7: They got Okay, but he was their third corner.
- 49:23Speaker 3: That's like saying our edge left.
- 49:25Speaker 8: What Caleb Chase? Yeah, you know, I mean their best
- 49:29Speaker 8: guys on defense are all back.
- 49:31Speaker 2: He played. I'm not trying to argue with you, stiff,
- 49:34Speaker 2: he played, but he was.
- 49:35Speaker 7: He was their third corner.
- 49:36Speaker 8: Who's the other guy that's gone?
- 49:40Speaker 14: The number one running back?
- 49:41Speaker 5: That they had the two best guys on defense, right,
- 49:45Speaker 5: we're looking, That's what we're trying to figure out who
- 49:48Speaker 5: they were.
- 49:48Speaker 14: They lost the safety too. I'm not sure.
- 49:51Speaker 8: Kobe Bryant, who is their third safety?
- 49:53Speaker 14: Okay, but it was their defensive rotation with those two
- 49:57Speaker 14: guys in that made them so ball on defense. They're
- 50:00Speaker 14: gone and the number one running backs gone. I'm not afraid.
- 50:02Speaker 12: The point is that I'm not afraid of any team
- 50:05Speaker 12: in the NFL that, you know, beating us that can
- 50:09Speaker 12: make us think that we won't have fourteen wins against
- 50:12Speaker 12: this year. But I am upset about the fact that
- 50:14Speaker 12: we don't have impact plays for our first two draft picks.
- 50:16Speaker 12: You can't talk me into it. You can't give me
- 50:18Speaker 12: excuse the why it's gonna work anyway, and Lomo's gonna
- 50:21Speaker 12: fit it. Maybe Jackets, you guys, I need.
- 50:23Speaker 3: You to do you think it's gonna be fine screwed up?
- 50:26Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 50:26Speaker 3: You think you think despite that, they're gonna wins dictomy.
- 50:32Speaker 7: Everybody stinks, but no one can beat them.
- 50:35Speaker 5: Like they screwed up the last pick, screwed up the drafts,
- 50:38Speaker 5: but no one can beat them, like.
- 50:39Speaker 7: I don't understand how those two things can be true.
- 50:42Speaker 3: Listen, if he if he's right and Campbell was to
- 50:46Speaker 3: screw up, it's not gonna be that great a year.
- 50:49Speaker 7: You know, I disagree if Loan who can play?
- 50:51Speaker 2: Wow?
- 50:52Speaker 3: Yeah, but he doesn't think that was a good draft
- 50:54Speaker 3: pick either.
- 50:54Speaker 5: No, I well, everybody stinks that again, that's sort of
- 50:58Speaker 5: the the irony of him thinking that nobody can beat them.
- 51:02Speaker 7: Yeah, I thinks everybody on the team kind of stinks.
- 51:04Speaker 6: I didn't think the Lomu pick was the right pick
- 51:06Speaker 6: at the time, but I'm not going to keep beating
- 51:09Speaker 6: a dead horse and say it for another six months.
- 51:11Speaker 8: I didn't love to pick in the moment when they
- 51:13Speaker 8: made that pick.
- 51:13Speaker 6: For a lot of the reasons I think he is
- 51:16Speaker 6: saying is that I don't know if he's going to
- 51:18Speaker 6: contribute right away, and maybe in three years he'll end
- 51:20Speaker 6: up being the right pick. But I'm more concerned about
- 51:22Speaker 6: twenty twenty six, not twenty twenty eight.
- 51:25Speaker 8: So I hear what he's I hear what he's saying.
- 51:27Speaker 2: Now.
- 51:27Speaker 6: I thought at the time, just to be real, that
- 51:29Speaker 6: Akis was going to come in and be an instant
- 51:31Speaker 6: impact player. So far, Accus isn't even here, and I
- 51:34Speaker 6: don't know who's advising him or what, but like, get
- 51:37Speaker 6: your buttet training camp.
- 51:38Speaker 4: That's kind of out of their control because that's what
- 51:40Speaker 4: the front office thought too, you know. Yeah, so I
- 51:43Speaker 4: hear what he anticipated it to play out this way.
- 51:45Speaker 6: Lomu and Eli Reridant to me, are two guys that
- 51:48Speaker 6: are developmental picks. Those are guys that I think are
- 51:51Speaker 6: here for the long term, Like they're not going to
- 51:54Speaker 6: be players that I'm expecting that are going to come
- 51:57Speaker 6: in day one and make huge impacts that they would
- 52:00Speaker 6: guy out of the draft that I thought was going
- 52:01Speaker 6: to do.
- 52:01Speaker 8: That as Akis.
- 52:02Speaker 6: I think that's why it's so frustrating that he's not
- 52:05Speaker 6: here is because he was the one guy in the
- 52:08Speaker 6: draft class that you felt like, Okay, I was going.
- 52:10Speaker 2: To be here. I was excited.
- 52:12Speaker 7: It's another good job by Christian excited too.
- 52:14Speaker 5: It's another good job by Christian and I'm not saying
- 52:16Speaker 5: that ironically.
- 52:17Speaker 2: He listens conversation.
- 52:19Speaker 10: Was he not a fan of picking offensive linemen or
- 52:22Speaker 10: just the specific ones that they picked.
- 52:24Speaker 2: I think probably just y.
- 52:25Speaker 3: They need to be impact players, and he doesn't consider
- 52:28Speaker 3: offensive find an impact player.
- 52:30Speaker 5: And in fairness to him, he brought this up right
- 52:32Speaker 5: after the draft. He was not happy that they picked
- 52:34Speaker 5: a guy who was probably not going to be a
- 52:35Speaker 5: big impact player in year one.
- 52:37Speaker 8: And I think that's sure.
- 52:38Speaker 5: And he thought they were a super Bowl team and
- 52:40Speaker 5: a lot of people felt the same way.
- 52:42Speaker 2: A lot of people felt the same way.
- 52:43Speaker 5: I just I don't really understand how you can say
- 52:45Speaker 5: how bad everything is on one hand and then.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Not really give the other teams any chance to beat them.
- 52:52Speaker 5: I mean, again, if fifteen, but if we're talking about
- 52:55Speaker 5: Kobe Minor and Riek Woman and two of the best players,
- 52:58Speaker 5: so like the Patriots, is the Pages defense in trouble
- 53:01Speaker 5: because they lost Caleb On, Chase On and U J
- 53:04Speaker 5: Jalen Hawkins and Jack Gibbons.
- 53:06Speaker 2: I mean they might m and worry opened on Pp too.
- 53:10Speaker 10: He's still recovering from whatever ankle was probably him, so
- 53:13Speaker 10: maybe that would help them, But I get it. I
- 53:16Speaker 10: think this is it's not enough of a sample size
- 53:17Speaker 10: on Will Campbell yet to make a declaration. I think
- 53:20Speaker 10: we all have similar concerns, but I understand the philosophy
- 53:24Speaker 10: of trying to protect Drake May and taking and how
- 53:26Speaker 10: hard it is to get tackles, and you know, I'm
- 53:28Speaker 10: right there with Evan. There are concerns about both of
- 53:30Speaker 10: those guys. But if you want to put everything you
- 53:33Speaker 10: can around Drake May, you got to make sure.
- 53:35Speaker 3: You protected and think about the effort as a whole. Yeah,
- 53:39Speaker 3: you took two offensive linemen and two consecutive years in
- 53:42Speaker 3: the first round. You also just sign A J. Brown
- 53:44Speaker 3: and Romeo Dobbs, So I mean they're trying to help
- 53:48Speaker 3: the offense.
- 53:50Speaker 5: The offense, I think it will be better than last year.
- 53:53Speaker 5: It might not be ranked higher, but it will be
- 53:55Speaker 5: better than last year.
- 53:56Speaker 2: I think.
- 53:56Speaker 6: Yeah, the second guest on the draft is going to be,
- 53:59Speaker 6: you know, some of those edge guys. If Acus doesn't
- 54:02Speaker 6: end up panning out because of all the reasons that
- 54:04Speaker 6: we've seen so far, If they had taken a first
- 54:08Speaker 6: round edge guy in that spot instead of Lomu and
- 54:11Speaker 6: just drafted a developmental tackle in the second or the
- 54:13Speaker 6: third round. You know, would that of those are the
- 54:16Speaker 6: coin flips of the draft, you know, that's how it goes.
- 54:18Speaker 6: But I'm not like super concerned about the offensive line.
- 54:22Speaker 6: That's like, that's yeah, Like I think their offensive line
- 54:26Speaker 6: is going to be good enough that with that quarterback
- 54:28Speaker 6: and the receivers that he has around them, if you
- 54:30Speaker 6: have a good coaching staff like they do with Josh
- 54:33Speaker 6: McDaniels and Doug Moron and their offensive line staff, did
- 54:37Speaker 6: they have enough talent in that room to have a
- 54:39Speaker 6: serviceable offensive line?
- 54:41Speaker 2: And I tend to believe that, but we'll say.
- 54:45Speaker 6: I mean, I don't like them being like we've seen
- 54:48Speaker 6: them bottom out on the offensive line.
- 54:51Speaker 8: It just happened two years ago.
- 54:52Speaker 9: When's the last time they've been even as deep as
- 54:54Speaker 9: they are right now?
- 54:55Speaker 2: Right?
- 54:56Speaker 6: I mean, the depth on the talent, the coaching I
- 54:58Speaker 6: think is massive. The moron he had a yeah he'll
- 55:02Speaker 6: be back, you know, Like, I just don't see with
- 55:05Speaker 6: the amount of talent that they have in that room
- 55:07Speaker 6: and with McDaniels and Moron coaching it, that room completely cratering.
- 55:12Speaker 8: Like I just can't imagine that now if they have
- 55:15Speaker 8: charger like injuries I.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Think the concern is Verah Tucker in health from a health.
- 55:21Speaker 8: And that's where I think lou had left guard comes in.
- 55:23Speaker 3: Remember those health problems happened at the Jets and.
- 55:27Speaker 2: The charges.
- 55:28Speaker 5: So but I have one more like this, like so
- 55:33Speaker 5: it's all about drafting guys that can play right away,
- 55:35Speaker 5: right like, according to Christian, Like, that's the problem is
- 55:39Speaker 5: that you have these guys that they've taken that they're
- 55:41Speaker 5: not going to contribute right away and they're not going
- 55:43Speaker 5: to be able to do anything to help the team.
- 55:45Speaker 5: But the Seahawks are in disarray because they lost Kenneth
- 55:48Speaker 5: Walker and drafted a running back in the first round
- 55:50Speaker 5: in Endemian Prince. That doesn't matter, I guess again, sort
- 55:54Speaker 5: of the contradiction within a.

- 58:21Speaker 2: We got the wide receiver group.
- 58:23Speaker 10: Everybody loves the White House, right, Paul and the Patriots
- 58:26Speaker 10: grabbed the big one.
- 58:27Speaker 2: That's happened, and I do it happing out so much.
- 58:29Speaker 2: I'm coming around.
- 58:30Speaker 6: You don't like the divas, you don't like the show voters, No,
- 58:32Speaker 6: but I like AJ Brown and I'm excited that he's here.
- 58:35Speaker 2: None of those things. Let's start right off the top
- 58:37Speaker 2: with AJ Brown.
- 58:38Speaker 10: Big acquisition this offseason, and you know, some questions about
- 58:41Speaker 10: where he is in his career. Maybe he's a little
- 58:43Speaker 10: bit more towards the end in the beginning, and that's,
- 58:45Speaker 10: you know, fair enough.
- 58:45Speaker 2: But from what we saw out there in those mini.
- 58:48Speaker 10: Camp practices, it seems like AJ Brown is jumping right
- 58:50Speaker 10: into this offense. He's gonna have a huge role. Josh
- 58:53Speaker 10: McDaniel is going to find a way Paul to get
- 58:55Speaker 10: him the ball. I'd be very surprised if that's not
- 58:57Speaker 10: the case. You know, he just looks uh, sort of motivated,
- 59:01Speaker 10: you know, for lack of a better term.
- 59:03Speaker 5: And I don't know if he's you know, quite the
- 59:06Speaker 5: fifteen hundred yard guy maybe that he used to be
- 59:09Speaker 5: maybe he's a little bit less than that. But what
- 59:11Speaker 5: you saw in the mini campfield was absolutely the agility,
- 59:15Speaker 5: the athleticism, his ability to catch the ball in traffic,
- 59:18Speaker 5: strong hands, soft hands, and like I said, just looks
- 59:23Speaker 5: like he's motivated to prove some people wrong.
- 59:25Speaker 2: He said as much, you know, when he spoke to us.
- 59:26Speaker 5: But they looked a lot more comfortable right out of
- 59:30Speaker 5: the shoot than I anticipated.
- 59:32Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it was like they had been playing together
- 59:35Speaker 6: for a while. I was like, did you guys like
- 59:37Speaker 6: go to Brookline High or something and didn't tell anybody,
- 59:40Speaker 6: but they you know.
- 59:41Speaker 2: I think with aj.
- 59:42Speaker 8: Brown, the question is is how much of was his.
- 59:45Speaker 6: Dip and production Philly related and how much of it
- 59:48Speaker 6: was AJ Brown related? And I joked with Paul out
- 59:50Speaker 6: a mini camp that I was about ready to blame
- 59:52Speaker 6: Jalen Hurts for the fact that he had a little
- 59:54Speaker 6: bit of a down year last year after he was
- 59:56Speaker 6: you know, mossing guys, you know, throughout practice. But I
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: I think that there's ways that Josh McDaniels can help
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: him kind of age more gracefully at this point of
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: his career, moving him around the formation, getting him back
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: into some of the sweet spots of the field in
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: the middle of the field that he was in Tennessee
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: that I don't think they used him as much in Philly.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: In Philly, he kind of became an isolation receiver, you know,
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: throw him up fifty to fifty balls and things like that.
- 1:00:22Speaker 6: With the Patriots, I'm thinking that they're going to get
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: back to some of the stuff he saw in Tennessee,
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: you know, hitting him on those inbreaking routes, you know,
- 1:00:28Speaker 6: over the middle of the field, letting him catch and
- 1:00:30Speaker 6: run with the football a little bit more, some of
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: that yards after the catch, you know, friendly type of stuff.
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: I think it's going to come back for AJ Brown
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: in this offense. So I think there are ways that
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: a coordinator can really help a receiver like AJ Brown with,
- 1:00:45Speaker 6: you know, sort of different roles and different alignments and
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: things like that that I expect Josh McDaniels to do
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: a little bit better than what we saw in Philadelphia
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: last year. Is at the difference between him being a
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: thousand yards and fifteen hundred. I don't know, but maybe
- 1:00:59Speaker 6: it's a difference which we in a thousand yards in
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: twelve hundred or thirteen hundred yards and you get a
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: little bit more out of him than what the Eagles got.
- 1:01:06Speaker 10: One of the questions of this group. Of course, Kaishon
- 1:01:08Speaker 10: Booty had a you know, great year last year, caught
- 1:01:10Speaker 10: some big plays down the end. Wasn't really here during
- 1:01:14Speaker 10: the optional portion of the offseason, was there, mandatory mini camp,
- 1:01:18Speaker 10: didn't really participate though.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: In the last you know, in the last day of practices,
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: the guy.
- 1:01:22Speaker 10: We spent a lot of time talking about a player
- 1:01:24Speaker 10: that the Patriots drafted, that has developed here, that is delivered,
- 1:01:28Speaker 10: and now with Brown arriving, it's kind of hard to
- 1:01:31Speaker 10: see exactly how he fits in now, Paul.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: When I was out there watching camp, I'm like, you
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: could figure it out like that, you know what I mean.
- 1:01:35Speaker 10: Evan's talking about moving him a little bit, moving Brown
- 1:01:37Speaker 10: a little more inside. Like I do think there's a
- 1:01:39Speaker 10: way they could figure it out. But I think for
- 1:01:41Speaker 10: all of us, all signs are probably pointing towards Kaishon
- 1:01:43Speaker 10: Booty maybe not being a part of this.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: Team once we get to the regular season.
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think that you could figure it out
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: if Romeo Dobbs struggles and doesn't have a huge role.
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: If Romeo Dobbs is what we all think he's going
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: to be. I think it's going to be really hard
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: to just figure that out. And I'm really to on
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: this whole thing because my head shows me that every
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: time they've asked Kaishan Boody to do something over the
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: last couple of seasons, he's generally maximized all his opportunities
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: and done everything that they've asked of him. But at
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: the same time, I can understand the team is looking
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: to improve always and he probably looks at it.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: Entering the final year of his rookie deal.
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: He wants to get in a position where he knows
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: he's gonna get targets, knows he's going to put up
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: some numbers and put himself in the best position financially
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: going food.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: So I'm really torn on it.
- 1:02:31Speaker 5: I think he's probably gonna end up elsewhere when all
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: is said and done, But you never know. There's a
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: lot of things that can happen between now and the
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: start of the season. Injuries happened, who knows, Yeah, tell
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: me about Dobbs. So I mean, that's how does that
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: all fit together. I mean, he was, you know, until
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: they got Brown. That was the big signing of the
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: offseason to replace him.
- 1:02:47Speaker 10: Kind of play like Digs, but he's big, he's versatile,
- 1:02:50Speaker 10: can play a little inside outside.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: I mean, it seems like he's a good fit for
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: what Josh wants to do.
- 1:02:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I think he's a classic McDaniel ze.
- 1:02:56Speaker 6: You know, they're going to probably play him mostly on
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: the inside, but he can play a little bit on
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: the outside, especially on those two receiver based kind of sets.
- 1:03:03Speaker 6: And he reminds me just watching him in this spring,
- 1:03:06Speaker 6: a little bit of Jakobe Myers, you know, that power
- 1:03:09Speaker 6: slot that's got a little bit of size to him.
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: Probably not the most explosive player down the field, but
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: it's going to be really sturdy in the middle of
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: the field. It's going to convert routes correctly, going to
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: be in the right spots and sort of move the chains.
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: And I think that's the element of it that you're
- 1:03:22Speaker 6: hoping to replace with Diggs. Brown's going to be the flash,
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: He's going to be the guy down the field and
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: making the big plays. Can Dobbs be the guy? You know,
- 1:03:30Speaker 6: Digs put up fifty one first downs last year for
- 1:03:32Speaker 6: this team. You know, Dobbs had forty one last year
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: on lower volume with the Packers, So a higher volume.
- 1:03:38Speaker 6: Does that mean that he can match digs in terms
- 1:03:40Speaker 6: of it's third and six and we need just need
- 1:03:42Speaker 6: seven yards. We don't need a fifty, we need seven,
- 1:03:45Speaker 6: you know, and you go out there and you make
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: that kind of play. I think in terms of fitting
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: it all together, the Kishon Booty thing is like it's
- 1:03:52Speaker 6: too prong to me. It's not just that they have
- 1:03:54Speaker 6: position redundancy. They also have skill set redundancy. To me,
- 1:03:58Speaker 6: where if you're three top three or Dobbs Booty Brown,
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: I just kind of feel like you're a little bit
- 1:04:05Speaker 6: slow and like where is that like field stretching element
- 1:04:08Speaker 6: coming from? Where's that speed element coming from?
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:04:11Speaker 6: I think there's two ways to look at it. If
- 1:04:14Speaker 6: you just braided this off of like a Madden curve
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: when you just everybody got a Madden rating, those are
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: your three best receivers probably, But if you look at
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: it from an aspect of, you know, a basketball team,
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: like we need different positions, we need guys with defined roles,
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: Like how do you do that? The best, I think
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: is a tough question to ask, is a guy like
- 1:04:32Speaker 6: Kyle Williams who might not be as good of a player,
- 1:04:34Speaker 6: like as Kisehan Booty, but he runs a four to
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: four and he stretches the field. Is that better fit
- 1:04:40Speaker 6: with Brown and Dobbs and Booty? And I think that's
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: the question that they have to ask themselves is do
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: they need that infusionist speed, whether that's Williams or Pop Douglas,
- 1:04:51Speaker 6: different types of players. But you know, I think that
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: they do run the risk, especially with Henry being your
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: tight end as well of being a little bit slow,
- 1:04:59Speaker 6: if you have those guy altogether.
- 1:05:00Speaker 10: Yeah, you mentioned Kyle Williams and Popped Douglas probably saw
- 1:05:03Speaker 10: them racing a little bit.
- 1:05:03Speaker 17: You know, they those two two fast they were, and
- 1:05:06Speaker 17: that they're the they're the fasture hope for speed, right,
- 1:05:08Speaker 17: And that I think is a big part of this
- 1:05:10Speaker 17: receiving group is when you look at Kyle Williams, we
- 1:05:12Speaker 17: all talk about can he make a year or two jump?
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: Can he bring that element to complement the other pieces.
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: So the thing that I like about this is we're
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: talking about the wide receiver group in terms of what's
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: the best combination to use as opposed to well, they
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: got this guy and that guy can do some things
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: and I don't know, maybe someone will emerge mentioned Matt
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: Collins's name, yet like you know, you know, sort of
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: they have no talent.
- 1:05:36Speaker 16: Yeah, Like I.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: Think suddenly, you know, we we sort of blinked and
- 1:05:40Speaker 5: wide receiver became I think the best position group on
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: the whole roster. I mean, Corner probably wants a word
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: with that, but but I think in terms of top
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: to bottom, wide receiver is the answer. And it's going
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: to be a matter of what Josh McDaniels and and
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: ultimately Mike Rabel decide they want to keep and they
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: want to feature as a like, like whatever was talking
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: about do you want to mix in some fast guys
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: or do you want to stick with what you think
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: might be redundant? But maybe the best group. They have
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: a lot of options. They have a pretty deep wide
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: receiver core right now.
- 1:06:12Speaker 10: They do.
- 1:06:12Speaker 6: And it's not like I know, people hear, oh, you
- 1:06:15Speaker 6: know speed, like it's a forty time and that sort
- 1:06:17Speaker 6: of thing, But it's also just separation ability. So like
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: if you have Booty Brown Dobbs and that's your three
- 1:06:24Speaker 6: guys and you're featuring that a lot feels like a
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: lot of contested catches, right. It feels like Drake May
- 1:06:29Speaker 6: throwing fifty to fifty balls a lot to those three guys.
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: I would much rather have one guy like a Pop
- 1:06:37Speaker 6: Douglas or Kyle Williams that when teams play man to
- 1:06:39Speaker 6: man on third down, this guy can get open, you know,
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: like that's the sort of thing that I would like
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: to see, you know, be the third fiddle. But Paul's right,
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: I mean, Matt Collins, if we haven't even mentioned him,
- 1:06:51Speaker 6: He's going to be involved, really versatile player, maybe play
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: a little bit of like the facto tight end even
- 1:06:56Speaker 6: for this group given the fact that Julian Hill's not
- 1:06:59Speaker 6: here anymore. You know, like there's a lot of different
- 1:07:01Speaker 6: factors with Matt Collins's role that are intriguing as well.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: So there's gonna be a lot of mouse defeat.
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: Probably someone's gonna go, you know, you know, Booty, we
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: talk about a lot. You know. Jamario Douglass also in
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: the last year of his rookie rookie deal, so maybe
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: Efton Chisholm pushes him a little bit, similar kind of role,
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: different kind of slot receivers, but similar role in the offense.
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: So someone's going to probably end up going, maybe maybe
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: more than one person ends up going.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: But again, really good problems to have because the depth
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: is there.
- 1:07:29Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean this position group one runs twelve players deep,
- 1:07:32Speaker 10: and I mean four of them were undrafted rookie.
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: Yah.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Those poor guys, they brought it. They came to the
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: Patriot at the wrong year right here for that. But
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: you know, shout out to Kyle Dixon. I thought, look,
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: one guy that stood out in rookie mini camp. He
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: made you know, a few cats.
- 1:07:44Speaker 10: It looked like an adult heart. He's a big boy.
- 1:07:45Speaker 10: I mean it's not you know, he's not Anotherfton Chisholm.
- 1:07:48Speaker 10: He's got some size to him. But you know, Jeremiah
- 1:07:51Speaker 10: Webb another guy that that's been around. So you know,
- 1:07:53Speaker 10: those guys got their work cut out for them down
- 1:07:55Speaker 10: at the bottom of the depth chart.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: How does it all play out. I mean, there's gonna
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: be a lot of opportunities.
- 1:07:59Speaker 10: I think training camp there should be a fun position
- 1:08:01Speaker 10: group I think to watch, especially in some of these
- 1:08:02Speaker 10: joint practices you get them lined up against some of
- 1:08:05Speaker 10: the you know, Eagles and Colts corners.
- 1:08:06Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:08:07Speaker 8: Absolutely, I mean this is going to be.
- 1:08:09Speaker 6: Like Paul said, I think it's probably the best position
- 1:08:11Speaker 6: group on the roster, if not the second best.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: It's stacked.
- 1:08:15Speaker 6: I mean, they really have a lot of talent here.
- 1:08:17Speaker 6: Now they have different types of you know, hierarchy, which
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: I personally love, Like you have a true number one,
- 1:08:22Speaker 6: you have a number two with Romeo Dobbs. I have
- 1:08:25Speaker 6: a bunch of guys that could be a number three
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: on a good offense.
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: So it's an exciting group.
- 1:08:31Speaker 6: It just depends on, you know, roles and how they
- 1:08:34Speaker 6: keep everybody happy and all that kind of stuff is
- 1:08:36Speaker 6: going to be the big question. Last year, they just
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: had such great chemistry in that room and Diggs was
- 1:08:42Speaker 6: a big part of that, and they just had just
- 1:08:45Speaker 6: off the charts chemistry and how do you recreate that
- 1:08:48Speaker 6: and how do you go about keeping everybody happy when
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: you go six seven guys deep and you only can
- 1:08:54Speaker 6: really play three or four of them on a given Sunday.
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: So that'll be a tough part. That's up to McDaniel's
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: in Rabel though. You know that's why they pay those guys.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: And now great moments in history. I mean, is that
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: tub that's in there. It's got a weigh fifteen pounds.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: It's enormous. Did you see that? That's like a that's
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: like an.
- 1:09:17Speaker 18: Ice cream star? Meghan the Stallion. Oh, okay, I bet
- 1:09:22Speaker 18: I was trying. I was trying to cut that off
- 1:09:24Speaker 18: at the path. I knew that was coming, So I
- 1:09:28Speaker 18: was going with the Megan with.
- 1:09:29Speaker 10: The giant jug of ice cream challenge, you know, like
- 1:09:33Speaker 10: how much can you finish?
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: Could you finish the whole thing?
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: Just just know that yes, the answer is a court no.
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: If I wanted to, Yeah, I could.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: I could handle a pint if.
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: I wanted to, the answer is yes, I have.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: To cut down on my ice cream because it binds
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: me up. Yeah. Who studio, Oh, you came very close.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: You came very close there. Ice cream binds him up.
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: That's another great moment from BA.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: All right back here and Patriots on Filter Day five
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: to five pasts five hundred is the hotline podcasts at
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: Patriots dot com.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Is the email address.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: It's Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's Mike, it's Alex,
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: it's Matt and Na Booth and we'll be here until
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: two taking your calls and emails. Getting ready for training camp.
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: First training camp is on Saturday. We're going to start
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: our show at nine for five. Yeah, with on the
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: ramps high above the practice field and we'll tell you
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: everything we see and show you a bunch of stuff,
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: as long as the camera rule is still the same
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: as when Belichick was here. Yeah, you know that kind
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: of that's in change.
- 1:10:39Speaker 8: That's a team rule.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: That's not like a league rule. No, it's not a
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: league rule.
- 1:10:43Speaker 8: I don't want it out there, so good.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: No.
- 1:10:44Speaker 10: I know are some teams out there. I feel like
- 1:10:47Speaker 10: maybe a Raven's practice. I remember online where it was like, geez,
- 1:10:50Speaker 10: they're just they got the whole thing going.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: Yeah there.
- 1:10:52Speaker 6: Yeah, sometimes people sit in the stands and record them.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: Oh yeah, which is.
- 1:10:56Speaker 6: I think sometimes that pops up. But you don't want
- 1:10:59Speaker 6: to give the rest the league with what we're our
- 1:11:01Speaker 6: plays and what we're doing out of practice.
- 1:11:03Speaker 7: I mean, come on, yeah, don't even look at it.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: I want to do that in our tweet about it.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: So that'll be Saturday, and of course the team will
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: also be practicing on Sunday, and we won't have a
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: live show on Sunday. But our next live show after
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: Saturday will be the first day of PADS. I think
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: that July thirtieth, Thursday, whatever date that is today Thursday,
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: and then next week's show times will be one to
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: three one to three and Thursday we'll be live yep
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: so again nine in the morning, So stay tuned for
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: a lot of action next week. Emails coming in Chris
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: and Colfax California.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: Uh first.
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: Every day that goes by raises my concern for Acus.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: I was ridiculously excited when we drafted him as a
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: former wrestler myself, but now I'm very concerned. I can't
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: recall a single red Shirt that has come back and
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: on anything. So if he doesn't play this year, I'm
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: calling the Patriot's career over.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: I hope I'm wrong.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: On a lighter note, if you could take any Patriot
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: from twenty twenty to twenty twenty three and put them
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: as they were on a label coach team, who would
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: it be. I'd love to have seen the twenty twenty
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: two Judon, but Mac Wilson would have been a good
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: one as well. Oh really, so who would have I
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: get what he's trying to say is who would have
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: benefited from being on a on a vable team?
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: Nice? I try to do the biggest team that I
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: can find. Don't you?
- 1:12:36Speaker 8: Don't you disrespect the.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: Like he played receiver for.
- 1:12:41Speaker 9: The past rushow that year with Judon.
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: I think it was that got a bunch of sacks
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: as a result in d Trich Like that was actually
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: a great pass rush that would have been really interesting.
- 1:12:51Speaker 6: Yeah, had a heater in the second half of the season.
- 1:12:55Speaker 6: Turns out it was like a bunch of backup tackles
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: Judon on the.
- 1:12:59Speaker 9: Other side, right, jud just took all.
- 1:13:03Speaker 8: I mean, John is the best player in that.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: It's not a bad pick for that. But I think
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: that the same thing would have happened. You know, that
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: happened with Belichick, like he was a fast starter, flash
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: in the pan, petered out the second half of the year.
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: That was a pattern for him.
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: Do you think John would have had the same Smith
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: John Smith time and new I keep thinking of that.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: But he certainly got better before and after he was
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: on the right.
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: Yeah, well, because he goes and plays for Arthur Smith,
- 1:13:34Speaker 6: Josh McDaniels.
- 1:13:35Speaker 7: You know, but he played for Josh McDaniels.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: That's true. But not with Drake May Okay.
- 1:13:41Speaker 8: I'll give him. That's a good point.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Can't argue with that. There's not a lot to tea.
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: It wasn't.
- 1:13:48Speaker 7: That didn't argue with that.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 1:13:50Speaker 10: It's like Judahn was kind of the savior of those years,
- 1:13:52Speaker 10: the only kind of like impact player.
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: And I mean and Paul's right.
- 1:13:56Speaker 10: Like early in the season, he's got the red sleeves going,
- 1:13:59Speaker 10: everyone's on board and then kind of.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: You know, withers out. But I don't know, I don't
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: really can't really think that anyway.
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: That's the only one I can really think of, especially
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: in light of what this team lacks. You know, a prime,
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: you know, a prime Matthew Judon who had whatever ten
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: twelve sacks in the first ten weeks, So that's you know, whatever,
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: season twenty one, whatever it was. I'd plug him in
- 1:14:22Speaker 5: with Rabel and this coaching staff and on this defense.
- 1:14:24Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, Devin mccordy with Woodson if he didn't
- 1:14:27Speaker 10: have Buyer that that would work for me.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: But there wasn't a lot of talent on the team
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: at that time.
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: Cam Newton, Cam Newton, Chris with a Tia n talking
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: about training camp of the past. Since we're going down
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: memory lane, my favorite memory was the year I went
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: down to practice and Fred waved me over and invited
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: me to sit with him in the media tent, getting
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: a chance to be behind the scenes listening to the
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: conversations and seeing everything from that perspective felt like I
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: had been given access to a whole different world. Fred
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: pulled rank and managed to get me an official media
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: pass with my name on it. When the pass was
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: handed over, I noticed the affiliation listed as PFW, which
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: made it feel even more legitimate. I remember thinking that
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: was about the coolest thing imaginable. I still have it
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: in my office in a place of prominence.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: Wow, that's cool. Come true. I told you was a kingmaker.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: The best part, though, came when Fred asked for the pass.
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: The person who had written out my first name and
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: last name looked at it, paused, and said, oh, this
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: is for Chris with a T, I A N.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: We got a good laugh out of it.
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: I forget who would that have been that gave him that.
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: I don't know, somebody from PR, right.
- 1:15:40Speaker 5: Yeah, we did have occasionally, people in media relations or fans.
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: Yeah, occasionally.
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: Really, I think you're going to say listen. I was like,
- 1:15:48Speaker 6: I think they listened to every show.
- 1:15:51Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean that that would happen from time to time.
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: And I think maybe when Christian came in, Andy would
- 1:15:58Speaker 5: have just like scurried behind the ropes.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: I don't interact with it.
- 1:16:03Speaker 6: I do remember the first practice that I covered as
- 1:16:06Speaker 6: a reporter, and I was on cloud nine. I mean,
- 1:16:09Speaker 6: I can understand where he's coming from. I was still
- 1:16:11Speaker 6: living in New York, but I came for like a
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: weekend practice. Clintis got me credentialed, and I remember just
- 1:16:18Speaker 6: like beaming their way home, like I flew like it
- 1:16:20Speaker 6: was it was cool. It was like that was like
- 1:16:24Speaker 6: dream dream made.
- 1:16:26Speaker 10: Oh well, you see those people every year too, Like
- 1:16:27Speaker 10: you'll see a you kid who I was trying to
- 1:16:31Speaker 10: like go up.
- 1:16:32Speaker 6: My first like game I covered was one of the
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: preseason games that summer, like and you just you never
- 1:16:38Speaker 6: forget your first you.
- 1:16:38Speaker 9: Know, well, with we grow up too.
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: Like with Twitter, you guys were like kind of accessible
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: to us, not really, but you listen and you follow
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: you guys and you feel like you kind of know them.
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: Was it like that for you guys? Like reading great
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: columnists in more of the newspaper.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: Era and then meeting them.
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: Not even just meeting them, but like I feel I
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: got training camp. Every year there's kids yelling like my Grease,
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: Mike Grease or pogging Craft even Volan, you know what.
- 1:17:06Speaker 9: I mean, like, was that always the.
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: Caser they did not yelling at But it wasn't like that.
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: But was it more with Twitter that they became so
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: front facing the old stadium?
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: Yeah? Oh yeah.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: So at the end of the game in the old stadium,
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: the press would come down from the press box which
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: was on the fifty yard line, and you'd have to
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: walk down the sideline and then through the end zone
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: to get to the other side and wait. So with
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: two minutes and it was like walking through a gauntlet.
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: Yeah, Donaldson, go kill yourself. They killed us.
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: It almost got to the point where if someone didn't
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: say something bad about you, that was bad too, because
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: that meant you were irrelevant.
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: Yeah, but we all we all.
- 1:17:52Speaker 7: Heard our share.
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: But you know, the team was not good, and so.
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: They were yelling at him because they were writing bad things.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: I guess, you know retired, Oh yeah, all the time.
- 1:18:02Speaker 9: What would they say about you?
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: Just yeah, you don't know what football? What's what's the
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: what's the number one thing that you would have said
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: about me prior.
- 1:18:10Speaker 7: To about a year and a half ago that you're hey, fatty.
- 1:18:18Speaker 9: Mean, you are so mean.
- 1:18:21Speaker 6: Leave the body shaming out of it. You want to
- 1:18:23Speaker 6: come after Paul's reporting on the team for air Tight.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know im. You just walk on bully,
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: but it was, it was, it was. It was a
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: lot different.
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: They weren't yelling at a salad.
- 1:18:39Speaker 10: We have great fans though that come out to training
- 1:18:42Speaker 10: camp and that's uh, you know, we yelled at you know,
- 1:18:44Speaker 10: people come up and it's it's great.
- 1:18:47Speaker 8: Nobody like though Mike Grease is pretty I don't.
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: Think Mike takes takes any bullets. It's always positive with
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: He's like pretty much everybody else.
- 1:18:56Speaker 8: You would think he was like Paul McCartney.
- 1:18:59Speaker 9: They want to.
- 1:19:02Speaker 5: When I get chirped now it's generally positive. I will
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: say that because I think people listen to this show
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: and they really like our dynamic, and I think far
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: more positive than negative.
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: Because I was complaining earlier about one of Paul's shows
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: comparing the numbers of Diggs and AJ Brown and Mike
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: Wilson and the Cardinals and uh, Anthony says maybe they
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: meant meaning Felgri and Maz that it was considered a
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: down year for AJ and considered an impressive year for Diggs.
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: Diggs coming off the injury versus A J. Brown in
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: his prime. When you look at it like that, it
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: makes sense. That's said, I believe he'll have an excellent year.
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: Brown and Dobbs are giving Moss and Star Wars vibes.
- 1:19:52Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't.
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: Diggs's year was I think as expected. I don't think
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: that he exceeded. I mean, the only thing I would
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: say that exceeded was when we were out there in
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: the spring last year and he was ready to go
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: and running around, yeah, cutting all over the place. I
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: didn't expect to see that, but I expected him to
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: be ready to go at the start of the season,
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: and I expected him to have about one hundred catches
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: for one thousand yards. I think he had eighty something
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: for one thousand yards.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: So like, I don't.
- 1:20:19Speaker 5: That's kind of what Diggs is now. He's not that
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: fifteen hundred yard guy that he used to be like
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: in Minnesota and early in.
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: His Buffalo days, like the last few years.
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: That's the number one thing when you to get back
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: to what we started the show with the excitement level,
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: and you guys said AJ Brown, and I'm totally with you.
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: Is AJ Brown still capable of being Vinta JJ Brown
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: fifteen hundred yard guy? You know, maybe double digit touchdowns,
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: you know, solid fifteen or so plus average per catch.
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: Is that guy still there or has he? Is he
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: now what he's been the last two years in Philly.
- 1:20:58Speaker 5: The first two years in Philly were off the arts.
- 1:21:00Speaker 5: The last two were pedestrian for him. For him, so
- 1:21:05Speaker 5: I'm wondering motivation all the stuff Evan talked about with
- 1:21:09Speaker 5: its excitement to be a Patriot. He says, you know,
- 1:21:13Speaker 5: watch and I'll show you about the knee. When he
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: was asked about the knee. That's what I kind of
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: want to see. How does he look back quarterback.
- 1:21:19Speaker 10: I think it's easy to just look at the stats
- 1:21:22Speaker 10: between the two guys, and what I'm most interested in
- 1:21:25Speaker 10: is also just the presence that aj Brown brings to
- 1:21:28Speaker 10: the offense with his physicality that is not anywhere close
- 1:21:32Speaker 10: to what Diggs does.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: And there's more than one way to skin a cat.
- 1:21:35Speaker 10: He's a phenomenal route runner Diggs is, but that element
- 1:21:38Speaker 10: of physicality, and you know, if he still has that,
- 1:21:41Speaker 10: if he still is barreling through guys, if it's still oh,
- 1:21:44Speaker 10: you're going to try to just push him out of
- 1:21:45Speaker 10: balance like good luck. Like that to me is an
- 1:21:47Speaker 10: element that I think, you know, we can get caught
- 1:21:49Speaker 10: up in the numbers of it all, but there's also
- 1:21:51Speaker 10: just a style that he has that I'm excited to
- 1:21:54Speaker 10: just see that in the offense, and that's like it
- 1:21:56Speaker 10: just fits their play style how they want to go
- 1:21:58Speaker 10: into games physically dominating people, and that's what AJ Brown does.
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: There's a lot of elements with him that I feel
- 1:22:03Speaker 6: like you can't quantify necessarily with like catches and yards
- 1:22:08Speaker 6: and things like that, because of how he impacts how
- 1:22:11Speaker 6: defenses play them and how they you know, game plan
- 1:22:14Speaker 6: for them on a week to wake basis, and are
- 1:22:16Speaker 6: you seeing lighter boxes as he's seeing number one corners
- 1:22:19Speaker 6: like all these different types of things that I don't
- 1:22:21Speaker 6: know if that necessarily is Well, he had eighty three
- 1:22:23Speaker 6: catches for a thousand yards, like that doesn't necessarily tell
- 1:22:26Speaker 6: the whole story.
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: Yep, you guys right about that.
- 1:22:28Speaker 6: And I think Diggs maybe had an element of that too,
- 1:22:30Speaker 6: just differently, like it was just he was playing in
- 1:22:32Speaker 6: different parts of the field. But I think that that's
- 1:22:35Speaker 6: the biggest thing with AJ Brown is you know, can
- 1:22:38Speaker 6: he have that kind of impact on the team. I'm
- 1:22:40Speaker 6: ass worried about is he going to go for fifteen
- 1:22:42Speaker 6: hundred yards, and I'm more interested.
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: About the explosiveness and the impact.
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: Like, I don't think Diggs was capable of being what
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: you're just what you just described anymore. I think Diggs
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: maximize what he has left basically, and I think he
- 1:22:53Speaker 5: could do that again for someone. I expect someone will
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: sign him at some point, and I would expect him
- 1:22:58Speaker 5: to be a productive guy again like that.
- 1:23:00Speaker 7: I do not think.
- 1:23:03Speaker 5: The balance of Diggs's career is still He's still capable
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: of like that huge, huge impact. He was absolutely the
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: guy that every other defense focused on and doubled and
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: he could get to all three levels of a defense
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: he couldn't do. I don't think that anymore on a
- 1:23:19Speaker 5: consistent basis for the Patriots.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: Let's go to the phones, herms and DC.
- 1:23:24Speaker 19: What's up, Hermy, what's going on?
- 1:23:27Speaker 9: Gang?
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: Hey?
- 1:23:28Speaker 19: Everything good?
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: I mean, that's good.
- 1:23:31Speaker 19: I have a quick comment and I'll hop off the phone.
- 1:23:34Speaker 19: I didn't feel like doing this, but I feel like
- 1:23:36Speaker 19: anita response is called up. That was a little bit
- 1:23:39Speaker 19: ignorant from before to break. I think it's so well
- 1:23:42Speaker 19: Campbell conversations getting out of control like this. I mean,
- 1:23:46Speaker 19: this was a rookie to protected take Miss Blonds all
- 1:23:50Speaker 19: the way to the super.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: Bowl and he was hurt.
- 1:23:53Speaker 19: Yes, he might have not played well, but out of
- 1:23:55Speaker 19: them think there's even a left tech Hall of Fame.
- 1:23:59Speaker 19: Was that if you'd have had the same injury, that
- 1:24:01Speaker 19: would have not performed less than you know what I mean.
- 1:24:03Speaker 19: So we just got to you know, we just gotta
- 1:24:05Speaker 19: give some time. Like in this I feel like in
- 1:24:08Speaker 19: this society nowadays, you want everything right of way, and
- 1:24:11Speaker 19: we just need to give certain things time. I guess
- 1:24:13Speaker 19: my overpoint is Will Campbell's fine, He's going to be great.
- 1:24:18Speaker 19: He was hurt and he'll be fine.
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: Please say you guys, okay, all right, yeah, yeah, we'll see.
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: Let's go with that here too. You expect something I'm
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: on board stronger hopefully. Yeah.
- 1:24:32Speaker 6: I think that that's more less than so about the
- 1:24:34Speaker 6: injury is his physical development. I think that was something
- 1:24:38Speaker 6: that've Abel kind of hinted to us to said the
- 1:24:40Speaker 6: combine that is just pretty blunt with it talking about
- 1:24:43Speaker 6: Campbell getting physically stronger and then technique wise. You know,
- 1:24:46Speaker 6: I've talked about this before with some of the arm
- 1:24:49Speaker 6: length deficiencies, like he's going to have to be a
- 1:24:51Speaker 6: really good technician. He's going to have to make up
- 1:24:53Speaker 6: for some of his physical limitations in different ways with
- 1:24:56Speaker 6: his technique. And I don't expect a twenty one year
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: old rookie to know how to do that kind of
- 1:25:01Speaker 6: stuff right out of the gate. But as we get
- 1:25:03Speaker 6: into year two and year three and you're four, like,
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: he's got to improve in those areas to the point
- 1:25:07Speaker 6: where he can cover it up. So both those things,
- 1:25:10Speaker 6: I think he's got to be stronger, and I think
- 1:25:11Speaker 6: he's got to be more technically sound at times.
- 1:25:14Speaker 8: But I don't think that he can't do it. I
- 1:25:17Speaker 8: think we got to see it.
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: Darius and Louisville Wright since says, I'm not overly concerned
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: about the edge position. I understand everyone wants a double
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: digit sack guy, but I thought we were all aware
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: that you can't do everything in one offseason. We upgraded
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: the line and offensive weapons while adding a top safety.
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: Patriots didn't sit on their hands entirely, and we did
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: sign one draft one with the pressure coming through the
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: middle with Milton Barmore, while having a top five secondary.
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: We only need cleanup guys on the outside. We don't
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: need a Miles Garrett yes, it'll be great, but I
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: think we'll be just fine.
- 1:25:53Speaker 7: They also lost one, signed one, I mean drafted one
- 1:25:56Speaker 7: and lost one.
- 1:25:57Speaker 6: Lost two wed count Anthony Jennings too. Yeah, I think
- 1:26:01Speaker 6: that His overall point, though I agree with him, is
- 1:26:04Speaker 6: that they found ways last year to get pressure on
- 1:26:08Speaker 6: the quarterback, whether it was blitzing in the playoffs or
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: the two guys in the middle he mentioned. So I
- 1:26:13Speaker 6: don't necessarily think their talent level on the edge is
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: worse than it was last year.
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: I just wish that Akis and Landry were going to
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: be So.
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: That's a big if to me, is like, if you
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: plug in Landry that started the season this year, then
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: I would say that's absolutely true. I don't think Landry
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: will be what he was in the first five or
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: six weeks again.
- 1:26:34Speaker 6: But if you look at it just where they ended
- 1:26:36Speaker 6: last year, Landry kind of not really contributing a ton.
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: Chase on Ponder is kind of the third guy, and
- 1:26:45Speaker 6: Jennings versus Draymond Jones. Whatever they get out of Landry,
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: Akis and Ponders, it's kind of the same.
- 1:26:55Speaker 7: I don't think Landry is the same. I don't think.
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: I'm just not a believer in like these guys.
- 1:27:00Speaker 5: I mean, you don't think Jones as good as Chasen
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: at rushing the passer. I think Jones might be a
- 1:27:06Speaker 5: better all around player. He might be like stronger at
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: the point of attack and better fit for them. He
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: might end up being a better player. So I have
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: no problem with that signing. But I also think it
- 1:27:18Speaker 5: would just going off those three playoff games during the season,
- 1:27:22Speaker 5: we were sitting here every week saying they can't get
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: any pressure on the passer. In the playoffs, they got
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: all kinds of pressure on the passer. So if that's
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: real and they can do that for a whole season,
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: then Evan's right, we're worried about nothing.
- 1:27:35Speaker 8: Well, I don't know if we're worried about nothing. I
- 1:27:37Speaker 8: just don't.
- 1:27:37Speaker 6: I don't think it was the strength of the team
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: last year, and I don't think it's the strength of
- 1:27:40Speaker 6: the team this year. And I don't know how much
- 1:27:43Speaker 6: they've really lost talent wise in the group this year
- 1:27:46Speaker 6: compared to last year. But last year wasn't It wasn't
- 1:27:49Speaker 6: great either. Like I'm not saying it was, you know,
- 1:27:51Speaker 6: any better or worse. It just was kind of the
- 1:27:53Speaker 6: same as it was last year. And you're hoping that
- 1:27:56Speaker 6: Zach Korr and the staff is going to drop the
- 1:27:58Speaker 6: blitzes like they did and he'll.
- 1:28:00Speaker 7: I just didn't think last year it was good enough,
- 1:28:01Speaker 7: that's all.
- 1:28:02Speaker 10: Yeah, they were like kind of middle of the path
- 1:28:05Speaker 10: and then but we talked about it plenty, and that's
- 1:28:06Speaker 10: what's a little frustrating as you get now you know
- 1:28:09Speaker 10: Camp Eve essentially and it feels kind of the same
- 1:28:12Speaker 10: in the same ballpark. And I think the point about
- 1:28:14Speaker 10: Anthony Jennings is a good one. I mean, you know,
- 1:28:16Speaker 10: he was nothing special as a pass rusher, but he
- 1:28:18Speaker 10: was a solid guy that they that they could put
- 1:28:20Speaker 10: in there and that they found. Now maybe Draymond Jones
- 1:28:23Speaker 10: fills some of that need. But I think the bottom
- 1:28:26Speaker 10: line with this group is just the juice off the
- 1:28:28Speaker 10: edge and when it's third and long, Williams and Christian
- 1:28:31Speaker 10: Barmbo can't do. And I also think if you're sort
- 1:28:33Speaker 10: of middleish, you know, mid mid, you're sort of mid
- 1:28:39Speaker 10: when you completely control every game the way they did
- 1:28:42Speaker 10: last year, like I think you should have had inflated
- 1:28:44Speaker 10: numbers based on the second half of every game the
- 1:28:47Speaker 10: other team was in you know, eighty five pass mode.
- 1:28:53Speaker 10: Again in the playoffs, they showed you they could do
- 1:28:55Speaker 10: it a little bit different, and I think they played
- 1:28:59Speaker 10: more man and I think that was better suited for
- 1:29:02Speaker 10: Gonzo and Gonzales, Davis and Jones. I think that worked,
- 1:29:08Speaker 10: and I think that helped the guys upfront with some
- 1:29:10Speaker 10: of the schemes that they worked. It worked very well.
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: When they got to the point where they had to
- 1:29:16Speaker 5: have it work well when they needed it most, it
- 1:29:18Speaker 5: was there. So I'll have some faith in it until
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: I see otherwise.
- 1:29:21Speaker 8: Yeah, I think the big question with that is is
- 1:29:23Speaker 8: that sustainable over seventeen games?
- 1:29:26Speaker 6: Can you play balls to the wall like that? That
- 1:29:28Speaker 6: would be my first seventeen games. I think it's easy
- 1:29:30Speaker 6: to do it. Not easy, but I think you can
- 1:29:32Speaker 6: do it for three to four games in a playoff setting.
- 1:29:34Speaker 6: Blitzing over forty percent of the time for seventeen straight
- 1:29:38Speaker 6: weeks is not sustainable.
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: And I do wonder, and I don't have the numbers
- 1:29:43Speaker 5: you might have them committed to memory. My just anecdotally,
- 1:29:46Speaker 5: I would guess that they blitzed more against the Chargers
- 1:29:50Speaker 5: and more against the Texans and less against the Broncos.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: That's actually it'so I mean, these are based on ESPN Summers.
- 1:29:56Speaker 10: I had a forty five point five against blitzerate against
- 1:30:00Speaker 10: the Chargers, then thirty six point five against Houston, forty
- 1:30:03Speaker 10: point five against Denver.
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: Okay, so I'm a little surprise point one agains. Yeah,
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: Surprised about the Seattle one, because they blitzed every play
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: once they fell a way behind. Yeah, they were blitzing
- 1:30:11Speaker 5: trying to cause turn rightly, so they were trying to
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: cause turnovers to get back in the game, desperate. But
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: you got the Chargers had nothing of an offensive line.
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: The Texans had nothing of an offensive line. All their
- 1:30:24Speaker 5: starters were out for both and then Denver actually has
- 1:30:27Speaker 5: a decent offensive line. So I was surprised that that
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: number was as high as a one.
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:30:32Speaker 6: I think they attacked, you know, also like they knew
- 1:30:35Speaker 6: that if they got pressured on Stroud that he was
- 1:30:36Speaker 6: going to cough the ball up, so you know, and
- 1:30:38Speaker 6: I just.
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: Wonder if they blitzed more because it was Stidham that
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: was where.
- 1:30:42Speaker 6: And I think Darnold too. I mean, we all remember
- 1:30:44Speaker 6: seeing ghosts right like. That wasn't that long ago. So
- 1:30:47Speaker 6: I that's the question is what the defense that they
- 1:30:51Speaker 6: played in the playoffs was extremely aggressive. Ton de mand
- 1:30:55Speaker 6: Ton of blitzing. I don't know if you can do
- 1:30:57Speaker 6: that for seventeen games. When you do it against a
- 1:31:00Speaker 6: three or four game sample, that's a different story. But again,
- 1:31:04Speaker 6: I just keep with the edge thing. I just like
- 1:31:06Speaker 6: I think Draymond Jones and Chase On are kind of
- 1:31:08Speaker 6: a one for one swap.
- 1:31:10Speaker 7: Yeah, no, I think they're absolutely think that.
- 1:31:12Speaker 6: I think that, But I think that that even the
- 1:31:14Speaker 6: numbers bear that out. Like from like a statistical perspective,
- 1:31:17Speaker 6: they're basically the same guy from a pass rush standpoint,
- 1:31:20Speaker 6: So that one's kind of a watch. The question really was,
- 1:31:23Speaker 6: you know, guys like Akus and Ponder and those players
- 1:31:26Speaker 6: were going to have to step up and we don't.
- 1:31:29Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: There's a little bit of context too. I think that's interesting.
- 1:31:33Speaker 10: Over the course of the season in the regular season,
- 1:31:35Speaker 10: they only had a blitzerrate over forty percent three times.
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: The first game of the season. Did that go?
- 1:31:40Speaker 10: And then the last two games of the season when
- 1:31:42Speaker 10: you had the short handed Dolphins and Jets and you
- 1:31:44Speaker 10: just killed.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: Right, And I wonder, and you know, looking back at that,
- 1:31:48Speaker 5: I wonder if they only did it the last two
- 1:31:49Speaker 5: games because they knew they were going to do it
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: in the playoffs, and they would get in some practice.
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: Game fall Julian and German could jump Fatty go you
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: to Sally. Julian in Germany has a who am I game?
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: You have a vegetable.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: Remember, you can guess at any time, but once you guess,
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: you're done. I played for Arizona College. I was a
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: sixth round pick. I played for eight NFL teams so far,
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: meaning he was a Patriots, he was a Patriot, or
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: he was a Patriot. I joined the Patriots in twenty
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: nineteen Arizona. I'm the record holder for longest field goal
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: in the Alliance of American Football justin.
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: In twenty twenty one.
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: I scored the most points in the league with one
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: hundred and fifty, tied with Daniel Carlson.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: Nick everybody I.
- 1:32:43Speaker 6: Was just I thought it was Nick Fole, but I
- 1:32:45Speaker 6: didn't want to be Rainfult.
- 1:32:47Speaker 8: I got nervous. I was like, Okay. As soon as
- 1:32:50Speaker 8: I heard the spring league thing, I was like, I
- 1:32:52Speaker 8: think this is Nick Fole.
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: That's one out of three. The second one I played
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: for the Rochester Yellow Jackets.
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: Okay, what is that?
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: I was born in Canada blame. I had two stints
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: with the Patriots. I won five Super Bowls, all with
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: the Patriots. My first year with the Patriots was two thousand,
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: my last year with twenty sixteen. It tells you it's
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: not really probably a player. I was never a starter
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: and I'm currently with the Tennessee Titans. By daybo is correct. Finally,
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: I played for the University of Houston.
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: Is correct. That's good, good stuff. I was over three.
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: Was hard because you're thinking player.
- 1:33:51Speaker 8: Once you said a starter, like yeah, come on.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: Andrews in Wisconsin on the hot line, what's up? Andrew?
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: I just had a question.
- 1:34:01Speaker 16: And I don't get to listen all the time, but
- 1:34:03Speaker 16: I just I was on AI, you know, doing our research.
- 1:34:08Speaker 16: I don't know if you've talked about this, but it
- 1:34:12Speaker 16: says that I just came across this tidbit that accuses
- 1:34:17Speaker 16: or Jack as whatever his name is, ag is well
- 1:34:21Speaker 16: turning that way, but that his agent is the same
- 1:34:25Speaker 16: as Gonzales.
- 1:34:26Speaker 8: Correct.
- 1:34:28Speaker 16: I don't know if you talked about is the Is
- 1:34:30Speaker 16: there a chance that like there the aide just waiting
- 1:34:34Speaker 16: for the one to the big one to get signed
- 1:34:38Speaker 16: and then he'll come in. Are they using that as leverage.
- 1:34:41Speaker 8: I don't think so.
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: No, a rookie second round pick doesn't have anything to
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: do with Christian Gonzalez's contract.
- 1:34:48Speaker 16: Well, I just I didn't know if they were just
- 1:34:49Speaker 16: trying to hold the second round pick over their head.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: Or I don't really know exactly with what the issue
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: is here. But this isn't about he's holding out for
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: more money. Like there seems to be like a tone
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: like you were upset with actus here, like this is
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: about something related to his health and when, oh whenever
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: he had an issue and whether it was disclosed. There's
- 1:35:16Speaker 5: something that we don't know about and I and I'm
- 1:35:19Speaker 5: being first one to tell you, I don't know about it.
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: I don't know what the details are. But there was
- 1:35:22Speaker 5: a story behind this that we don't know yet.
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: We may never know. I don't know.
- 1:35:27Speaker 7: But this isn't like all the all the contracts have slotted.
- 1:35:31Speaker 16: Yeah right, No, I just assumed that, like like he's
- 1:35:35Speaker 16: not even in for classroom stuff. Seems like really adversarial.
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: It's if if it's adversarial, it's it's because of something
- 1:35:45Speaker 5: health related.
- 1:35:46Speaker 16: Okay, all right, Like maybe he had.
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: An injury that was pre existing that the patriots didn't
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: know about or maybe they asked him about it and
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: he didn't disclose it. Maybe he wasn't as honest about
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: it as he might have been. There's a lot of
- 1:36:00Speaker 5: different scenarios that could could be at play. I don't
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: know which one it is, right, but.
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: There's no doubt in that first press conference when we
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: learned about it that Rabel you could see frustrated he was.
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: He was annoyed.
- 1:36:11Speaker 5: Yeah, and I and sometimes, like when I don't know
- 1:36:13Speaker 5: the answers to these questions, sometimes I'm reluctant to SPECULA
- 1:36:17Speaker 5: don't know. This isn't just like like Fernando Mendoza just
- 1:36:22Speaker 5: signed here's number one pick of the drive. It wasn't
- 1:36:24Speaker 5: about how much money he was going to get. It
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: was something about language in the car or whatever. I
- 1:36:30Speaker 5: have no idea what was going on in Vegas, but
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: I don't think there was anybody that was too concerned
- 1:36:34Speaker 5: about it.
- 1:36:35Speaker 7: This is something.
- 1:36:38Speaker 5: It has to be something health related, with Acis and
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: the team being maybe not fully up to speed or
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: aware of what the situation was.
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: I mean, Verbel's going to get asked about it tomorrow.
- 1:36:48Speaker 7: I'd be curious to see if it's changes.
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: Yeah, some kind of nugget.
- 1:36:52Speaker 7: I'd like to think he'd be asked about it tomorrow.
- 1:36:54Speaker 6: We'll see, Yeah, Well, and Gonzalez too, right, and him,
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: Gonzalez and Landry are going to be I would think one, two, three,
- 1:37:01Speaker 6: you know, I mean, those are that's the roster.
- 1:37:03Speaker 8: Questions right now?
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: Is Christian Gonzalez here? And this Karen? Yeah, Karen, she
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: knows what.
- 1:37:10Speaker 5: I don't need to tell. Karen run circles around me.
- 1:37:15Speaker 5: Journalist Ben in Arizona.
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: It's annoying to hear constantly the Will Campbell was trash
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: after his injury, that may was trash.
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: In the playoffs. Sure, not great at all.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: However, how many other teams have been successful in the
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: playoffs after playing the top four to five defenses in
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: the league back to back to back. Regular season was
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: amazing and better than expected, easy schedule, but you still
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: have to win. Do you expect to see the team
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: to play as well as in the regular season or
- 1:37:48Speaker 3: will they look more like they did in the playoffs
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: with this tougher season.
- 1:37:54Speaker 8: Can we have somewhere in the Yeah?
- 1:37:55Speaker 17: I hope not.
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I hope the offense doesn't look like it didn't.
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: In them at all. Yeah, I just I think all
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: that stuff they were simplified. They were a good team
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: last year. There. I think they'll be a good team
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: this year.
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: So what was closer to what it will be the
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: offense in the playoffs or the defense in the playoffs
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: last year?
- 1:38:13Speaker 6: Will be defense and closer to what it will be,
- 1:38:16Speaker 6: but it will be this year. I think the offense
- 1:38:18Speaker 6: is going to be substantially better than it was in
- 1:38:20Speaker 6: the playoffs.
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: And the defense could be close, could be top five defense.
- 1:38:24Speaker 5: I just think the offense was so bad in the playoffs,
- 1:38:27Speaker 5: the top five offense and a top five defense.
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: But well, to be better than last year in the playoffs,
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: you just have to have an existed offense.
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: Yeah, he just said what do you think will be closer?
- 1:38:40Speaker 5: The offense which was abysmal, And we all think that
- 1:38:43Speaker 5: the offense has improved greatly, so we all think the
- 1:38:46Speaker 5: offense is going to be better. So you're forced to
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: say defense, and now they have nuclear.
- 1:38:51Speaker 8: Probably defense and now eighty five bears.
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: Yeah, well that that performance in the playoffs was if
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: you put that in a regal seat, that's a defense,
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: but could be if.
- 1:39:02Speaker 8: They equally You said, which one is it going to
- 1:39:03Speaker 8: be close?
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: Which one is going to be closer?
- 1:39:05Speaker 5: Though someone might answer this like vintage Paul would have
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: answered this question, I don't think either one of them
- 1:39:10Speaker 5: is going to be close to what it was in
- 1:39:12Speaker 5: the playoffs.
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: I think the offense is.
- 1:39:13Speaker 5: Going to be much better, and I don't think the
- 1:39:15Speaker 5: defense is going to approach that dominance that they had.
- 1:39:18Speaker 7: And now we'll see what happens now.
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: I think the defense is pretty good, so I'm not
- 1:39:22Speaker 5: telling you that I think there's a huge drop off
- 1:39:24Speaker 5: for the defense, but you set it up so we
- 1:39:27Speaker 5: had to pick one or the other.
- 1:39:28Speaker 8: Okay, good facilitation, Good facilitation by fan.
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: Do you think there is a chance that they could
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: have top five both sides.
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: Of the ball? Again? Didn't they last year?
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: Were the I don't know about that, but.
- 1:39:43Speaker 7: Number you want scoring? The only thing I care about
- 1:39:45Speaker 7: is scoring, and I think they were top five in both.
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: I can't get an I'll get there in a second.
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: Maybe they weren't. I don't know.
- 1:39:50Speaker 7: Maybe maybe I'm just being a homer again Christian. Sorry,
- 1:39:55Speaker 7: what do you call it?
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: Mellie mouth millionau? I didn't care for that.
- 1:39:59Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I I do not care where talking down
- 1:40:01Speaker 6: to the offensive line like that. It's an important position.
- 1:40:05Speaker 6: Got to invest in the offensive line, got to you.
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: Know, everyone says that you need to support Drake may Well.
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: I think that shows support taking two first round picks
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: year to year and signing AJ Brown, bringing in Romeo Dobbs.
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: I think I think, you know, I'm not going to
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: play devil's advocate here for Christian, but I think his
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: point is they could have gotten better players that they drafted,
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: and that would have been better help.
- 1:40:31Speaker 6: I think the offensive line thing though, not to get
- 1:40:33Speaker 6: into the whole philosophical thing, but it's it's supply and demand.
- 1:40:37Speaker 6: Like once you get into free agency and in the
- 1:40:39Speaker 6: veteran market with offensive line, and it's it's hard to
- 1:40:42Speaker 6: find franchise left tackles in free agency. Like those guys
- 1:40:47Speaker 6: don't get to free agency, right, you know, those guys
- 1:40:49Speaker 6: stay on their teams, or every once in a while
- 1:40:51Speaker 6: you see a guy get traded, but it's a substantial
- 1:40:54Speaker 6: trade in a big price. So I think if you're
- 1:40:58Speaker 6: going to build the offensive line for the future in
- 1:41:01Speaker 6: long term, that's why a lot of teams draft linemen
- 1:41:04Speaker 6: is because you kind of have to draft them, you know,
- 1:41:06Speaker 6: like you're not going to get you know, Laromie Tunzel
- 1:41:10Speaker 6: I think is maybe the last true like franchise guy
- 1:41:13Speaker 6: that moved in a trade that I can think of
- 1:41:15Speaker 6: off the top of my head.
- 1:41:16Speaker 8: It doesn't happen very anything.
- 1:41:18Speaker 3: Drafting Lineman is like eating your vegetables.
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: You gotta You don't like it, but you gotta do
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: it and it's gonna help you.
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: But I don't think he is mad that they drafted Lineman.
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: I don't think he agrees with the lineman they set
- 1:41:30Speaker 5: but it's not the same.
- 1:41:31Speaker 9: Like impact play.
- 1:41:33Speaker 8: But who was he supposed to draft?
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: Like last year? Lomu was the last one.
- 1:41:37Speaker 7: No, No, I'm not defending I'm saying I'm just saying
- 1:41:41Speaker 7: like that.
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: But that's what his point is.
- 1:41:43Speaker 7: He doesn't like the guys they took, not necessarily the position.
- 1:41:46Speaker 8: And that's fair enough.
- 1:41:47Speaker 6: But maybe you could have made that argument in Campbell's draft,
- 1:41:50Speaker 6: like maybe you were a Membu guy or Josh Simmons, Like, if.
- 1:41:55Speaker 5: You had to do it over again, how would you
- 1:41:57Speaker 5: feel if you had drafted Membo and then Lomo and
- 1:42:00Speaker 5: that was your left and right tackle. I don't know,
- 1:42:03Speaker 5: but you probably wouldn't have gone to the Super Bowl.
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: Last year with Badarian Lowe playing left tackle for seventeen games.
- 1:42:08Speaker 6: Right, I dis question is where would you have played
- 1:42:11Speaker 6: Membo like last year? Would he had played left instead
- 1:42:15Speaker 6: of playing right with I think he would have played right,
- 1:42:17Speaker 6: but Morgan Moses was here though.
- 1:42:19Speaker 2: No, they're all fair.
- 1:42:21Speaker 6: Second I that's that was always the conversation with Membo
- 1:42:28Speaker 6: is your draft.
- 1:42:29Speaker 5: Ramble was taken fourth overall because they had to draft
- 1:42:33Speaker 5: a guy who could play Week one left tackle, and
- 1:42:36Speaker 5: that's why they chose him.
- 1:42:39Speaker 7: Christian is obviously not a fan of that pick.
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: Listen.
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: I think that up until the injury, you'd say that
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: he had a good season rookie season left tackle, fine,
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: A good I said a good season. I didn't say
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: that he didn't make the Pro Bowl or anything.
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: But he's getting there.
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: But do you think he deserves kind of like I
- 1:43:00Speaker 4: feel like Will Campbell's the low hanging fruit right now
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: to attack the team.
- 1:43:05Speaker 10: Yeah, well, I think he has questions coming out, and
- 1:43:08Speaker 10: the questions in the playoffs kind of you know, his
- 1:43:11Speaker 10: performance in the playoffs brought back those questions, and then
- 1:43:14Speaker 10: you know, you got to a certain point last year
- 1:43:16Speaker 10: and everybody felt like he's been pretty good I mean
- 1:43:18Speaker 10: he had how many sex you give up to Marus Garrett,
- 1:43:20Speaker 10: you know, like, I mean he had had Yeah, he
- 1:43:23Speaker 10: had some struggles during the season. It wasn't perfect, Devin said,
- 1:43:26Speaker 10: passable grade, but the performance in the playoffs and especially
- 1:43:29Speaker 10: with the Super Bowl, and that's what we're left.
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: The taste we all have in our mouth is from
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: that game. So I think a lot of the.
- 1:43:35Speaker 10: Narratives come from that super Bowl, whereas ninety nine percent
- 1:43:39Speaker 10: of that season before the super Bowl, like a lot
- 1:43:41Speaker 10: of that wasn't really questions, like you weren't like Drake's
- 1:43:44Speaker 10: the second place MVP guy, but then you come out
- 1:43:46Speaker 10: of the Super Bowl and you're like, well, he didn't
- 1:43:48Speaker 10: play that great against Seattle.
- 1:43:49Speaker 6: So I just feel like the to me, like the
- 1:43:52Speaker 6: Campbell criticism from the Super Bowl is so misguided, Like
- 1:43:56Speaker 6: I just feel like his his role in that loss
- 1:44:00Speaker 6: was on the list, but it wasn't at the top
- 1:44:01Speaker 6: of my list.
- 1:44:02Speaker 8: I don't think.
- 1:44:03Speaker 6: I think they got thoroughly out coached and out played
- 1:44:06Speaker 6: in every phase. So the single handedly say Will Campbell
- 1:44:10Speaker 6: is like the reason that they lost the Super Bowl,
- 1:44:12Speaker 6: I think is short sighted, Like there was a million
- 1:44:15Speaker 6: things they could have done differently in that Super Bowl,
- 1:44:17Speaker 6: on both sides of the ball, but especially offensively, Like
- 1:44:20Speaker 6: no offense to any of them, but like Drake May
- 1:44:22Speaker 6: did not play very well in that game either, and
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: Josh McDaniels didn't coach very well in that game either,
- 1:44:27Speaker 6: you know, Mike McDonald kind of took him to work,
- 1:44:30Speaker 6: you know, and so like, I don't know, like some
- 1:44:33Speaker 6: of that is obviously on Campbell, that you got to
- 1:44:35Speaker 6: execute your blocks and things like that, But if Drake
- 1:44:37Speaker 6: May had played at the level that he had been
- 1:44:39Speaker 6: playing all year, I don't know if Will Campbell would
- 1:44:41Speaker 6: have allowed fourteen pressures or whatever the heck Next Gen
- 1:44:44Speaker 6: said it.
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: Was, because he's still like in the next Gen page
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: is literally like still the top side.
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: Don't forget, don't underestimate the help of the ex patriot
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: with the conflict of interest that gave them all.
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: Right, right, what do you feel about that? Allegedly?
- 1:45:00Speaker 7: I wish you didn't kiss him now I don't.
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: I'm not convinced it was him. I'm hoping it wasn't.
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: I but you know, if it was, I'm not I'm
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: not happy with that. Like, what do you think he
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: could have done?
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: It's just tendencies for Josh McDaniels.
- 1:45:16Speaker 2: You know how he how he might attack. Yeah, this
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: is the kind of things he likes to do. Yeah.
- 1:45:20Speaker 6: If there's one thing that I think he could have done,
- 1:45:22Speaker 6: and I don't I don't know if it was Braden,
- 1:45:24Speaker 6: I don't think it was. But the way that Seattle
- 1:45:27Speaker 6: attacked their protections in particular, felt like they had picked
- 1:45:31Speaker 6: up something on tape of like how they the Patriots
- 1:45:34Speaker 6: liked to do things from a schematic standpoint. Did somebody
- 1:45:39Speaker 6: like nudge them in the direction of like this is
- 1:45:42Speaker 6: what they've been doing all year, you know, like that
- 1:45:44Speaker 6: that sort of thing. Or is Mike McDonald, who is
- 1:45:47Speaker 6: a great coach, just watched tape for ten straight days
- 1:45:50Speaker 6: of the Patriots offense and figured it out on his own.
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: Yep, David and Bethlehem right sin he's in swaddling clothing
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: from my lane from.
- 1:46:00Speaker 2: The Major every time that he reads that, I think
- 1:46:04Speaker 2: of that.
- 1:46:04Speaker 9: This is in July.
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: From my lame online searches, it seems that Accus has
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: two young aggressive agents, Lukeman Sailor and Vet.
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: Reggie Johnson.
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: Besides failure to disclose injuries, it seems that he's looking
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: for guarantees that other second round players don't get, and
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: the agents and agents are unwilling aren't able to tell
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: him the facts of life. Is accus living on checks
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: he can't cash. What happens if the Patriots insist on
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: MRIs and physical exams before signing him? What happens if
- 1:46:36Speaker 3: there is no agreement? Does acas just stay out and
- 1:46:39Speaker 3: eat donuts?
- 1:46:41Speaker 8: I'm not comforting.
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:46:42Speaker 8: I'm not comfortable touching that email.
- 1:46:44Speaker 5: That could be true. He should be looking for guarantees
- 1:46:47Speaker 5: that aren't typical. I don't think that's the case.
- 1:46:49Speaker 8: I have no idea if that's.
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: Right or wrong, but it would be surprising to me
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: based on like we talked about already, just his mindset
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: on the raft night, how fired up he was, wed
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: else was to see it?
- 1:47:01Speaker 10: You.
- 1:47:01Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 1:47:02Speaker 3: Yeah, he seems to me like the type of guy
- 1:47:04Speaker 3: that would tell his agent screw that I got to
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: get over there.
- 1:47:08Speaker 7: I don't think this has anything to do with agents.
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't matter, I really don't.
- 1:47:12Speaker 10: That's my question is is this something that is still
- 1:47:15Speaker 10: an issue or is this all past things that happened
- 1:47:19Speaker 10: and we're still trying to figure out how to make
- 1:47:22Speaker 10: those things right? Is he I mean he's posting that
- 1:47:24Speaker 10: he's working out, so is he healthy?
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: Is he ready to go?
- 1:47:27Speaker 10: Is there a lingering effect from an injury that they
- 1:47:29Speaker 10: want protection on that you know that he's they're not
- 1:47:32Speaker 10: willing to give him.
- 1:47:32Speaker 4: And why is he post like you're posting to give
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: a perception about yourself.
- 1:47:39Speaker 9: It's all intentional for I'll never find I'm fine.
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: He's posting stuff to say I'm fine. I think that
- 1:47:45Speaker 5: they think he might not be, and they're trying to
- 1:47:46Speaker 5: protect himselfs.
- 1:47:47Speaker 10: I mean of a guy who's never played a game
- 1:47:49Speaker 10: for the Patriots. Has there been a more roller coaster
- 1:47:51Speaker 10: than this guy?
- 1:47:52Speaker 5: Like I Benjamin Watson, that's how far back I off to,
- 1:47:55Speaker 5: Like think, you asked me this like a couple of
- 1:47:58Speaker 5: days ago, do you remember any thing like this? And
- 1:48:01Speaker 5: my answer was, like since eleven when the new CBA
- 1:48:04Speaker 5: came in and all these things became slotted, No, twenty
- 1:48:07Speaker 5: two years. I can't think of any time that it
- 1:48:09Speaker 5: was like this since twenty eleven.
- 1:48:10Speaker 6: So the only other one that I can think of
- 1:48:12Speaker 6: league wide now, and of course now I'm banking on
- 1:48:15Speaker 6: his name, the Nikobe Dean, the Georgia linebacker. He had
- 1:48:19Speaker 6: a similar situation because million injuries. He had a million injuries,
- 1:48:24Speaker 6: some of them potentially chronic, like you know that sort
- 1:48:27Speaker 6: of thing fell in the draft because of it, took
- 1:48:29Speaker 6: a while to sign them, but then they eventually, you know,
- 1:48:33Speaker 6: they signed them and everything kind of it's pretty good player, right,
- 1:48:36Speaker 6: But I that was maybe a good similar situation based
- 1:48:40Speaker 6: just because of the physical element of it.
- 1:48:42Speaker 10: Well, that's what scares me is just that's the like
- 1:48:45Speaker 10: thing I don't want is this some like all of
- 1:48:47Speaker 10: a sudden you realize that this guy's got a long
- 1:48:50Speaker 10: term knee problem, Like this is your get your you put.
- 1:48:53Speaker 10: You spent a second round pick on a guy and
- 1:48:55Speaker 10: it's gonna be damaged goods like that.
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: That's that's that's my.
- 1:48:58Speaker 8: Fear because.
- 1:49:00Speaker 6: Of the contract situation, the fact that they haven't signed
- 1:49:04Speaker 6: him to a contract. My fear is is that they
- 1:49:07Speaker 6: are worried that this issue is product.
- 1:49:09Speaker 5: I'm worried that they're trying to protect themselves all or
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: maybe they're trying to teach them a lesson.
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: You know, we don't like this whole thing of withholding
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: and pulling in. We're gonna make you wait now, because
- 1:49:22Speaker 3: you know, but.
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: Does that at a certain point you're just kind of
- 1:49:25Speaker 4: only hurting yourself to learn, especially as a rookie.
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: And you want to give I don't know how success.
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: All I know is that very able, seem very annoyed.
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: Yeah, you know.
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: Christian Virginia writes in about Christian in La, what an
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: absolute breath of fresh air it was to have a
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: Christian free episode last Tuesday. Honestly, the more we hear
- 1:49:51Speaker 3: from Christian in La, the more convinced I am that
- 1:49:54Speaker 3: the guy is a complete fraud. He doesn't have wealth.
- 1:49:57Speaker 3: He clearly just works for someone else who does. Over
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: in the UK, we have a perfect term for guys
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: like him, an eleven rife eleven arrife.
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: You know the type.
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: You tell him you went on holiday to tenarife and
- 1:50:10Speaker 3: he's instantly been to eleven arrife. Case in point, his
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: desperate need to one up Alex's key Fob's story with
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: that clearly fabricated, fabricated Tesla tale, but he slipped up
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: and completely gave himself away. First off, Tesla doors have
- 1:50:28Speaker 3: built in sensors specifically designed to stop them from swinging
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: open into other objects. Plus there is literally a setting
- 1:50:36Speaker 3: to control how they opened when you approach the vehicle,
- 1:50:39Speaker 3: he'd know that if it was actually his car, and
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: has claimed that a credit card size fob is easily lost.
- 1:50:46Speaker 3: Has the man never heard of a wallet?
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: Christian Virginia Christians being accused of being a fake Tesla owners,
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: fake rich guy.
- 1:50:56Speaker 6: In general, Yeah, I just like how the call continued
- 1:50:58Speaker 6: to move. First it was there too best defensive players.
- 1:51:01Speaker 6: Then I called him out and said who were they?
- 1:51:04Speaker 6: And then he said, well, they also lost Kenneth Kenneth Walker,
- 1:51:07Speaker 6: And I was like, I thought we were talking about
- 1:51:09Speaker 6: the defense. And that's why whenever he calls in, I
- 1:51:12Speaker 6: just think it's a bit like I don't think that
- 1:51:13Speaker 6: he's being serious at all. I think that it is
- 1:51:16Speaker 6: all an art. It's a performative.
- 1:51:19Speaker 3: I think the part about the draft picks, I think
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: he really does believe that part. Yeah, you know he's
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: not the only one.
- 1:51:26Speaker 8: No, maybe, but I just the way he plays it up.
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: Gandolf in the Shire rights in, he's made he's made
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: what listening to us a hobbit?
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: Oh? I should you did that good hobbit question for Paulie.
- 1:51:43Speaker 3: You said that the Patriots wouldn't have made it to
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: the Super Bowl without selecting Will Campbell in last year's draft.
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: Did you say that?
- 1:51:49Speaker 5: Not to that extent, but I think I think I
- 1:51:51Speaker 5: said you could make an argument that they wouldn't have
- 1:51:54Speaker 5: made the super Bowl with Vederian Lowe playing seventeen games
- 1:51:56Speaker 5: at left tackle.
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: I think that's what I said.
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: Okay, correct me if if I'm wrong. But last year,
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: when injuries hit the offensive line, you stated you didn't
- 1:52:03Speaker 3: see much difference between the starters and the backups.
- 1:52:06Speaker 7: I didn't see much difference between Vaderian Lowe and Will.
- 1:52:08Speaker 9: Campbell sample size.
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but he did play well, Darian. I thought he
- 1:52:12Speaker 2: played well in three of the four games that he played,
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: the last.
- 1:52:15Speaker 9: One specifically slippage all games.
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: Would you say seventeen games? Yep? Yeah.
- 1:52:21Speaker 3: Do you believe a healthy low would have been better
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: than a seventy percent healthy Will Campbell just an estimate
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: of his health in the playoffs and thus would they
- 1:52:29Speaker 3: have made it to the Super Bowl?
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: Yes, I do.
- 1:52:32Speaker 7: I think that at that point he's not healthy.
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: Well, I'm only going I personally don't know how much
- 1:52:38Speaker 5: that had to do with health, but I'm just going
- 1:52:40Speaker 5: to take everybody at face value. Right, Campbell was fine
- 1:52:44Speaker 5: until he got hurt. That's what everybody tells me, right,
- 1:52:47Speaker 5: and we're going to find out, and coaches are eight
- 1:52:49Speaker 5: just to find out too. That's why he took a
- 1:52:51Speaker 5: left tackle in first round. But we'll find out.
- 1:52:55Speaker 6: I do think that that is another fair second guess
- 1:52:58Speaker 6: a little bit though, what did it? Would they have
- 1:53:01Speaker 6: been better off? After the Chargers game saying to Will Campbell, you're.
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: Not healthy, You're done, You're done for the season.
- 1:53:06Speaker 8: Right, Yeah, we're putting we're gonna ride it out with Vederian.
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: Because because wasn't there like rumors that they put him
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: on I r uh save him from himself, to keep
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: him from pushing to keep playing.
- 1:53:20Speaker 8: Yeah, so I who knows.
- 1:53:24Speaker 5: No, you're right that that was a story that was
- 1:53:26Speaker 5: shaking my head of the ridiculousness of that was a story.
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: And then four weeks later he when he wasn't playing
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: well it was because he was healthy. Well, I don't know.
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: It's like it's a funny little trick that the media
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: pulls on us. You never pin him down.
- 1:53:44Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: Nick from New York City? Is there any chance Demetrius
- 1:53:47Speaker 3: Crown over play some tight end for more than trick plays?
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: Assuming he makes the team.
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: Is this something they'd even consider, Well, I guess it.
- 1:53:56Speaker 6: There is going sixth offensive linemen considered a trick play Fred? No, No,
- 1:54:02Speaker 6: then I would say so, then I would say yes.
- 1:54:04Speaker 10: Would he be the guy?
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: Do you think?
- 1:54:07Speaker 8: I don't know?
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: He did it?
- 1:54:08Speaker 6: He was a tight end, so I think that's where
- 1:54:10Speaker 6: that comes from high school. But I think it's a
- 1:54:15Speaker 6: open competition for that role. I think Lomu probably would
- 1:54:17Speaker 6: be the first one up.
- 1:54:18Speaker 7: To get You think it would be him and Marcus
- 1:54:21Speaker 7: Briant competing for a roster spot.
- 1:54:23Speaker 6: Yes, me too, But I think Lomu would probably be
- 1:54:26Speaker 6: the sixth offensive lineman first, because you want to get
- 1:54:29Speaker 6: Lomu reps and into games and things like that.
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: But maybe the tackle is going to catch a touchdown
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: this year.
- 1:54:36Speaker 6: How about we go seven offensive linemen and we put
- 1:54:38Speaker 6: ground over and lot never gonna We're gonna do the push.
- 1:54:45Speaker 2: Push, seven offensive lineman, three fullbacks. I love it. We
- 1:54:49Speaker 2: slipped the handle out to the flat boom. How about.
- 1:54:53Speaker 9: The Mighty Ducks.
- 1:54:56Speaker 3: Snap brake, run play done, Let's go, Let's go, Let's go.
- 1:55:01Speaker 6: Who says no, Yeah, Well, we called we call it
- 1:55:07Speaker 6: the elephant to the lineman lineup.
- 1:55:09Speaker 7: For a whole season in twenty twenty.
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: I want to see in the backfield, in the batfield
- 1:55:14Speaker 3: and everyone just goes forward.
- 1:55:16Speaker 8: Wisconsin. I think it's Wisconsin. We call it the Convoy.
- 1:55:19Speaker 6: They used to have a package called the Elephant Package,
- 1:55:22Speaker 6: and I think it was seven offensive lineman. But it
- 1:55:26Speaker 6: was like seven offensive lineman, the quarterback obviously in like
- 1:55:31Speaker 6: a full house backfield, like it was just like it
- 1:55:34Speaker 6: was a fourth and one goal line formation. And I
- 1:55:37Speaker 6: think they I think it was seven offensive linemen.
- 1:55:40Speaker 8: I'm open to it.
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: Let's go, let's go go. We'll finish the show with
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: Anthony's email. Hearing fred say it's Thursday, followed by Paul's
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: quick we gotta hurry brought me so much joy because
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: that means we're close. Love when you guys do the
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: picks and talk about the spread and how minus two
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: and a ha is really plus one and a hay
- 1:56:03Speaker 3: because they're giving.
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: Three points to the home team. Tough math man.
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: All right, well listen, what do the sharps know? This
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: isn't this is not it for the weekend.
