- 0:00What do you call a person with no goals?
- 0:03If you looked it up in a slang dictionary, you might find the word slacker or perhaps drifter.
- 0:10But if you look at it through the lens of the soul or spirit, we will call that person dormant.
- 0:17Whether it's a teenager stuck in the loop of video games or someone who has simply given up after too many hard seasons.
- 0:26Living without a goal is like having a powerful engine that is stuck in neutral.
- 0:32But don't judge yourself too quickly if you feel you have no goals.
- 0:36By the end of today's episode, you will know and understand what living without goals really looks like, the spiritual danger of metaphysical stillness and how to solve the pain of aimless living.
- 0:51By using our five Minute Sleep Spark exercise, we're moving from just passing time to the purposeful redeeming of time.
- 1:01Stay tuned.
- 1:03Ordinary Women Extraordinary Faith When God calls, we say yes.
- 1:10The Arise Women of God Podcast hello, and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God Podcast.
- 1:16I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 1:18Anderson, and joining me today are Sandy Falter and Amanda Powell of our Women warriors of Light Advisory Board.
- 1:26And today we're covering the topic of the goalless life.
- 1:32First, we're going to talk about why humans are designed for movement and what happens to a soul when it really stops.
- 1:40Second, we'll discuss the artificial goal trap and why consuming a digital mission isn't the same as creating a real one.
- 1:51Third, we will talk about the atrophy principle and why doing nothing is actually a form of spiritual decay in your soul.
- 2:00And finally, I'm going to share with you the Warrior Spark list we've created, which gives you 10 specific 5 minute micro goals to wake up your soul and spirit today.
- 2:13But first, let's ask the question, do you or someone you love truly have no goals?
- 2:19I A goal is not defined by actually writing it down, but by having something in your mind and heart that you're working towards and you're accomplishing.
- 2:28For years as a young mom, I don't think I wrote down any goals for the year because my goal was simply surviving and taking care of my kids day in and day out.
- 2:37But that doesn't mean that I didn't get things done.
- 2:40Oh no, I had little projects going all the time.
- 2:43Working on my house, working when the kids were asleep, painting a room, making some curtains, leading a choir at church.
- 2:51I was constantly moving, but I didn't write them down as goals.
- 2:56A person without goals isn't actually lazy.
- 2:59They are often overwhelmed or disconnected when, for example, someone plays video Games all day.
- 3:06They are actually seeking a goal, and the game gives them a mission and.
- 3:12And a reward.
- 3:13The human soul craves progress so much that if we don't have a real life mission, we'll often pay money to simulate one.
- 3:23But the tragedy there is that the engine is running, but the car is stuck in the garage.
- 3:28Amanda and I are now going to dive in.
- 3:30This idea of, do we really need goals or can we live without them?
- 3:35Let's think about that for a minute.
- 3:37I would love to just go there.
- 3:38Could we live life without it?
- 3:40I don't think I could.
- 3:41I am too much of a doer.
- 3:43I have a little bit of ADHD in me.
- 3:45And so the thought of sitting still and doing nothing would probably drive me absolutely batty.
- 3:51So I couldn't do it.
- 3:53I don't know if any of us could do it.
- 3:56Like, that's why I asked you that, because, like, even my grandson.
- 3:59I'm looking at my grandson, who's five and even he has goals.
- 4:04I'm gonna come in first place when I play this game with my dad, right?
- 4:10So I'm kind of looking at that, and I think, is it because it's divinely inherent in us?
- 4:16I mean, even our father has a goal, right?
- 4:18To bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.
- 4:21Maybe it's something that is within us and you remove the goal, right?
- 4:26You remove us from being goal seekers and goal doers and goal achievers to not having goals.
- 4:33Then what are we doing?
- 4:34So I almost feel like there is a purpose to having goals.
- 4:38It's something inside of us that makes us want to become something better.
- 4:43You don't become without a goal.
- 4:46We are built to become my friends.
- 4:48When we stop that progress, we do not stay the same.
- 4:52We actually start to slide backwards.
- 4:55We call this atrophy.
- 4:58Next, Sandy Falter is going to share a gym analogy.
- 5:02This is that explains what happens when we truly have no goals, no aim, no intention of progress.
- 5:10You know, I've thought about this, and I've thought about, you know, my goal to go to the gym.
- 5:15And it's not always successful.
- 5:18But why do we do that?
- 5:20And what happens with our muscles if we do nothing?
- 5:23If we do nothing, they atrophy.
- 5:26They don't stay the same.
- 5:27And so goals are so important because they help us to grow and progress.
- 5:31And.
- 5:31And.
- 5:31And we have to put in effort to grow and progress.
- 5:34And so doing nothing isn't the solution.
- 5:38And setting goals and setting intentions is.
- 5:41That's how we grow.
- 5:42If you are feeling dormant or you're watching someone you love sit in neutral.
- 5:47You don't need a five year plan, you just need a spark.
- 5:52So we've compiled a wonderful warrior spark list that will give you 10 options you can do in five minutes or less to signal to to your mind, body and spirit that it is time to move and change.
- 6:06First, the creation connection.
- 6:08Step outside and find three wonderful things that God has made feel connected to him with a heart full of gratitude.
- 6:17Second, the digital reset.
- 6:19Delete one app that drains you.
- 6:22Third, the hydration habit.
- 6:24Drink one glass of water and water your soul.
- 6:28Number four the sacred silence.
- 6:30Sit for three minutes and ask God to show you one tiny direction of something you can do to move you forward.
- 6:38Number five the body blessing.
- 6:41Do 60 seconds of stretching.
- 6:44As you think about your body being a tremendous gift and as you stretch each part of your body, think how grateful you are for it.
- 6:52For example, stretch your neck thinking and I'm so thankful I can move my neck.
- 6:56Or stretch your arms and say, oh, I'm so thankful I have arms and hands that can do things.
- 7:04Number six the one Surface sprint.
- 7:07Here's what we mean by that.
- 7:08Clear one small counter or drawer and see how you feel.
- 7:12It's amazing how something that small can encourage momentum.
- 7:17Number seven the encouragement text.
- 7:20Send one person and I'm thinking of you.
- 7:23Note Number eight the armor up affirmation.
- 7:27Look at yourself in the mirror and say, I am a child of God with a mission.
- 7:33Number nine the music shift.
- 7:36Listen to one hopeful song with your eyes closed.
- 7:40And number 10 the next 15.
- 7:43Plan only the next 15 minutes and then cross it off.
- 7:48Pick one thing from that list and that win, however small, proves to the adversary that you're not damned or stopped.
- 7:58You are a progress maker.
- 8:00Once you've done one, you can roll it into two or three or five.
- 8:05Just keep moving and build that momentum.
