Latest / The Epstein Chronicles / Leon Black Storms Out Of His Epstein Related Congressional Interview
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. On Friday, the 26th of June, Leon Black
- 0:08Speaker 1: appeared before the Congressional Committee overseeing the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And in the middle of that hearing, Leon Black ended
- 0:16Speaker 1: up getting up and walking out when he found out
- 0:19Speaker 1: that he was going to be hit with a subpoena
- 0:21Speaker 1: to be under oath instead of just giving testimony. And
- 0:25Speaker 1: according to sources, this all went down in the middle
- 0:28Speaker 1: of the hearings. So Leon Black was being asked questions
- 0:32Speaker 1: about NDAs and he didn't want to answer them. So
- 0:35Speaker 1: in the middle of the hearing, according to sources, we
- 0:38Speaker 1: weren't there obviously, but according to sources, Leon Black and
- 0:41Speaker 1: his legal team decided enough was enough. And I think
- 0:45Speaker 1: it really goes to the heart of what we've been
- 0:46Speaker 1: talking about, right? This committee has no teeth. If a
- 0:51Speaker 1: guy like Leon Black can get up and walk out
- 0:54Speaker 1: in the middle of a congressional hearing, does that signal
- 0:57Speaker 1: to you that it's serious? that there's consequences if you lie,
- 1:02Speaker 1: if you don't tell the truth, because from where I'm sitting,
- 1:05Speaker 1: it does the opposite. And it just confirms everything I've
- 1:09Speaker 1: been saying about this committee since the beginning. And this
- 1:12Speaker 1: is why this voluntary nonsense is a bunch of BS.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Everybody should be subpoenaed. Everybody should be under oath. And
- 1:19Speaker 1: if they don't respond to the subpoena, they don't show up, well,
- 1:22Speaker 1: guess what? They go to jail. We had no problem
- 1:27Speaker 1: sending people to jail for not showing up for subpoenas previously, right?
- 1:31Speaker 1: So what's the problem here? Why is this committee doing
- 1:35Speaker 1: everything it can to continue to protect Jeffrey Epstein's friends?
- 1:40Speaker 1: Today's article is from the New York Post. And the headline,
- 1:45Speaker 1: House Committee Subpoenas Leon Black Midway Through the Jeffrey Epstein Testimony.
- 1:49Speaker 1: And look, there's no doubt that that's a bit odd.
- 1:52Speaker 1: That's not something you see all the time. Someone giving
- 1:54Speaker 1: testimony and then getting subpoenaed In the middle of that
- 1:57Speaker 1: testimony by the same people that you're giving the testimony to?
- 2:01Speaker 1: Not exactly confidence-inducing that Leon Black is telling the truth,
- 2:05Speaker 1: is it? This article was authored by Josh Christensen and
- 2:09Speaker 1: James Franey. Billionaire investor Leon Black was hit with a
- 2:13Speaker 1: subpoena from the House Oversight Committee midway through testimony on
- 2:17Speaker 1: his relationship with late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
- 2:22Speaker 1: The move came after Black, the co-founder of Apollo Global Management,
- 2:25Speaker 1: refused to answer lawmakers' questions about whether there are any
- 2:29Speaker 1: nondisclosure deals between him and women connected to Epstein, lawmakers said. Now,
- 2:35Speaker 1: why wouldn't he answer that? I'm sure it has nothing
- 2:37Speaker 1: to do with incriminating himself, right? Leon Black has paid
- 2:40Speaker 1: close to $ 200 million when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Not to Jeffrey Epstein himself, but $ 200 in total. When
- 2:48Speaker 1: we're talking about fines, when we're talking about settlements and NDAs,
- 2:53Speaker 1: does that sound like a man who's innocent? Who didn't
- 2:55Speaker 1: do any of this stuff? Who wasn't around Epstein? Who
- 2:58Speaker 1: knows nothing? Who gets up and walks out of a
- 3:00Speaker 1: congressional testimony? I'll tell you who. Somebody that is scared
- 3:05Speaker 1: shitless of telling the truth. That's who. And maybe, just maybe,
- 3:10Speaker 1: if James Comer and his buddies would have went and
- 3:12Speaker 1: sat down with Les Wexner, they would have come to
- 3:14Speaker 1: the same conclusion. But they couldn't be bothered to do that.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Black's now set to come back to Congress for videotaped
- 3:22Speaker 1: testimony under oath. on July 16th, per one of the subpoenas.
- 3:27Speaker 1: The other one demands the NDAs. Look, Leon Black stepped
- 3:31Speaker 1: in it. This dude directly stepped in it. Now, do
- 3:34Speaker 1: I think he's going to be held accountable? I don't.
- 3:37Speaker 1: They're never held accountable. What would make this different? I mean,
- 3:40Speaker 1: maybe that there's a little more publicity and people are
- 3:43Speaker 1: paying attention. But besides that, I don't think anybody in
- 3:47Speaker 1: Congress really cares. And I think that the litmus test
- 3:52Speaker 1: is going to be after midterms. If people keep talking
- 3:55Speaker 1: about the subject, the topic, cool. But after the elections,
- 3:59Speaker 1: my guess is all these people who have been riding
- 4:02Speaker 1: the wave, trying to use this politically against their enemies,
- 4:05Speaker 1: et cetera, et cetera, those people, they're going to fade
- 4:09Speaker 1: into the background and they're going to start talking about
- 4:11Speaker 1: all the other shit they were talking about previously. And
- 4:15Speaker 1: then whatever becomes profitable, they'll jump on that. And that's
- 4:19Speaker 1: the same cycle we've seen over and over when it
- 4:21Speaker 1: comes to the Epstein story. People aren't built for the
- 4:25Speaker 1: long haul. People don't have the patience. People don't have the,
- 4:29Speaker 1: you know, willpower to see it all the way through.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And I get that. There's a lot going on in
- 4:35Speaker 1: the world. I completely understand. But for me personally, there's
- 4:39Speaker 1: no issue bigger than this one. And that's why we're
- 4:43Speaker 1: going to continue to harp on it no matter what.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I don't care if we have a million listeners or five.
- 4:50Speaker 1: The importance doesn't change because interest is fading away. So
- 4:54Speaker 1: we're going to really see who's about it after this
- 4:56Speaker 1: election cycle. And I want you to pay attention to
- 4:58Speaker 1: the people that use this as a vehicle to get
- 5:01Speaker 1: where they're going. And then after they get to their destination,
- 5:04Speaker 1: they abandon the topic. Because believe me when I tell
- 5:07Speaker 1: you it's coming. We need the NDAs to be able
- 5:12Speaker 1: to move forward with the investigation. Oversight Committee James Comer
- 5:15Speaker 1: told reporters mentioning that they concerned women, Possibly in Epstein's orbit.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Not possibly for sure. Like this isn't new to us.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And it shouldn't be new to Congress either. And I
- 5:28Speaker 1: think that's one of the biggest problems that people have.
- 5:31Speaker 1: If all of us knew about this for all these years,
- 5:34Speaker 1: how did all of these folks miss it? Or was
- 5:38Speaker 1: it that they knew and they just looked the other way?
- 5:41Speaker 1: I know that's uncomfortable, but a lot of these people
- 5:44Speaker 1: that are in office, they don't have any tenable ground
- 5:46Speaker 1: to stand on. They knew what was going on. We
- 5:50Speaker 1: want to know, was Jeffrey Epstein involved in the NDAs?
- 5:53Speaker 1: Was he involved in writing? Was he involved in awarding
- 5:55Speaker 1: funds to the women for the NDAs? What was the
- 5:59Speaker 1: reason for the NDAs? We want to know everything about
- 6:01Speaker 1: the NDAs, added Comer. And look, that's well within Congress's purview.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And if the DOJ ever files charges against Leon Black,
- 6:12Speaker 1: those NDAs go out the window. Criminal court is where
- 6:17Speaker 1: NDAs go to die. And we saw it with Diddy.
- 6:21Speaker 1: We saw it with Epstein several times. And we'll continue
- 6:24Speaker 1: to see it. The NDA has no bearing when it
- 6:27Speaker 1: becomes a criminal case. The investor earlier told the committee,
- 6:32Speaker 1: in a closed-door deposition, that he played no part in
- 6:34Speaker 1: Epstein's sex trafficking scheme. A lawyer for black voiced outrage
- 6:39Speaker 1: over the subpoenas. Well, of course. That's the last thing
- 6:42Speaker 1: they want to do. Be under oath? have to tell
- 6:45Speaker 1: the truth, God forbid. And why a guy like Leon
- 6:47Speaker 1: Black was given the option to appear voluntarily is a
- 6:50Speaker 1: mystery for the ages. Every single person that was even
- 6:53Speaker 1: considered a co-conspirator at some point, they should not be
- 6:57Speaker 1: given voluntary interviews. They should be under oath and forced
- 7:02Speaker 1: to tell the truth. And if they don't, there should
- 7:05Speaker 1: be serious consequences. Mr. Black came here voluntarily to assist
- 7:08Speaker 1: the committee. This was nothing more than a planned political stunt. Mr.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Epstein had no involvement. with any NDAs, whether they exist
- 7:16Speaker 1: or not. Attorney Susan Estrich said in a statement, Let
- 7:19Speaker 1: me reiterate, the committee did not ask a single question
- 7:22Speaker 1: about the legitimate payments to Epstein for professional services on
- 7:26Speaker 1: tax and estate matters. Let me reiterate, your client isn't
- 7:30Speaker 1: there to set the terms. Your client's there to answer questions.
- 7:35Speaker 1: And if you guys don't like that, nobody gives a
- 7:37Speaker 1: fuck anymore. I'm so sick of these ultra-rich people thinking
- 7:40Speaker 1: they can do whatever they want. And then people showing
- 7:43Speaker 1: up and acting like, yeah, you know, he's being unfairly targeted. No,
- 7:47Speaker 1: he's not. No, he's fucking not. The guy's an absolute liar.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And it's my opinion that if a competent prosecution took
- 7:54Speaker 1: over and they looked into Leon Black and they looked
- 7:57Speaker 1: into his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, well, they'd come to
- 8:00Speaker 1: find that there was a lot of money laundering going on.
- 8:03Speaker 1: But I guess we're not going to follow the money trail, right?
- 8:05Speaker 1: Not salacious enough. Bunch of clowns. One of Epstein's biggest clients, Black,
- 8:12Speaker 1: told the committee he'd been deceived by a man he
- 8:14Speaker 1: hired for tax advice. Imagine hiring Epstein for tax advice.
- 8:18Speaker 1: What is the H & R fucking block? Yeah, I'm
- 8:22Speaker 1: Jackson Hewitt over here. What does Jeffrey Epstein know about taxes,
- 8:26Speaker 1: besides how to hide money and launder it? Oh, that's right, nothing.
- 8:30Speaker 1: But let me give him hundreds of millions of dollars.
- 8:32Speaker 1: And for my next trick, I'm going to pay a
- 8:35Speaker 1: mechanic $ 500 million to cook me food. I've never abused
- 8:42Speaker 1: a woman, he said. I have never been with an
- 8:44Speaker 1: underage woman. I've never engaged in sex trafficking. Black also
- 8:48Speaker 1: denied paying Epstein for access to women, insisting he had
- 8:52Speaker 1: never been blackmailed. Well, I thought Jeffrey Epstein was the
- 8:55Speaker 1: greatest blackmailer in the world. And that's how he got
- 8:58Speaker 1: Les Wexner and Bill Gates to get on board. Or maybe,
- 9:02Speaker 1: hear me out, they didn't need any convincing. You ever
- 9:06Speaker 1: think about that? I was not involved with and had
- 9:10Speaker 1: no knowledge of any of Epstein's heinous conduct, he said.
- 9:13Speaker 1: The 74-year-old, worth an estimated $ 13. 5 billion according to Forbes,
- 9:18Speaker 1: paid Epstein $ 158 million over five years for estate and
- 9:23Speaker 1: tax planning. $ 30 million a year. Bro is making more
- 9:28Speaker 1: than Jalen Brunson. Okay, think about that. So do you
- 9:32Speaker 1: think that Jeffrey Epstein's advice about taxes was worth that
- 9:35Speaker 1: kind of money? Worth more than Jalen Brunson's contract? I'm
- 9:42Speaker 1: not buying it. Now, if you want to believe it,
- 9:44Speaker 1: and you want to buy it, I really don't care.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I don't care what anybody else thinks, what anybody else does,
- 9:51Speaker 1: what anybody else says. He told the committee that he
- 9:58Speaker 1: thought he was paying far less. Black's drafted testimony claimed
- 10:01Speaker 1: that Epstein falsely promised the fees were tax deductible or
- 10:04Speaker 1: 60 cents on the dollar. Oh yeah, I'm sure he
- 10:07Speaker 1: promised that. Easy to blame everything on him, right? Epstein's gone.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Nobody can say, oh, well, that's a lie. What Black
- 10:16Speaker 1: believed was 95 million in net fees. Turned out to
- 10:19Speaker 1: be 158 million, he said, while admitting that the late
- 10:22Speaker 1: pedophile solved a massive estate problem that lawyers could not. Yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 1: I'm sure he did. Illegally. Backdoor channels. Doing things he
- 10:31Speaker 1: shouldn't do. By the way, Leon Black, have you declared
- 10:35Speaker 1: your art? How much of that art have you declared?
- 10:39Speaker 1: How much of it's taxable? Where's it stashed? Do you
- 10:41Speaker 1: have it hidden overseas? How many accounts do you have?
- 10:44Speaker 1: We can go all day. The problem is, the committee
- 10:48Speaker 1: doesn't have the stones. He fired the financier in 2018
- 10:54Speaker 1: after a dispute over fees and an unpaid $ 30 million loan.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Black stepped down as Apollo's chief executive in 2021. The
- 11:02Speaker 1: company is now led by Mark Rowan. Black's testimony cited
- 11:07Speaker 1: a review by the law firm Deckert, which found that
- 11:10Speaker 1: he paid Epstein the massive sum, but uncovered no evidence
- 11:13Speaker 1: he took part in any crimes. Of course not. But
- 11:16Speaker 1: it was bad enough he had to step down, right?
- 11:18Speaker 1: Forced out by Josh Harris. Forced out by Mark Rowan.
- 11:22Speaker 1: But sure, nothing to see here. Keep in mind that
- 11:26Speaker 1: Leon Black's son is part of the Trump administration. Black
- 11:34Speaker 1: said that Deckard examined 60,000 documents and interviewed 20 people
- 11:38Speaker 1: over three months. He called himself the only public figure
- 11:41Speaker 1: in Epstein's orbit to commission an independent investigation and make
- 11:45Speaker 1: the results public. Oh yeah, independent investigation, is it? You
- 11:49Speaker 1: mean internal investigation, stupid. The Wall Street bigwig said that
- 11:54Speaker 1: he met Epstein in the mid-90s and gave him a
- 11:57Speaker 1: second chance after his 2008 conviction for soliciting a minor.
- 12:01Speaker 1: These people are so fucking dumb that it's not funny.
- 12:03Speaker 1: And furthermore, Alan Dershowitz and his big fucking mouth running
- 12:07Speaker 1: around yapping all the time about how he doesn't have
- 12:10Speaker 1: anything to do with anything. Yeah, you do, bitch. Yeah,
- 12:13Speaker 1: you do. What's up with the NPA? How many backroom
- 12:17Speaker 1: deals were made to have that happen? How deeply were
- 12:20Speaker 1: you involved? How many times did you do the end around?
- 12:24Speaker 1: The local Southern District of Florida to go to Maine Justice.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Stop the bullshit. The whole entire point of that first
- 12:30Speaker 1: prosecution was so we'd be here now. So later on
- 12:33Speaker 1: down the road, these idiots could point to that prosecution
- 12:36Speaker 1: and say, Oh, we had no idea. We thought it
- 12:38Speaker 1: was a girl with a fake ID. She was 17.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Fuck you. Fuck them. And fuck that narrative. He said
- 12:48Speaker 1: Epstein told him the case was an isolated incident involving
- 12:51Speaker 1: a fake ID. I knew Jekyll Black said, I didn't
- 12:54Speaker 1: know Hyde. Oh no, sure you didn't. Just had him
- 12:56Speaker 1: involved in calling the FSB to press Guzel Ganieva. But
- 13:01Speaker 1: no big deal, I had no idea who he was.
- 13:04Speaker 1: He said he didn't learn of Epstein's sex trafficking of
- 13:06Speaker 1: minors until the financier was charged for the crime in
- 13:09Speaker 1: July of 2019. The Justice Department alleged that Epstein created
- 13:14Speaker 1: a vast network of girls some as young as 14,
- 13:16Speaker 1: for him to sexually abuse between 2002 and 2005. FBI
- 13:23Speaker 1: files released by the Trump administration, released by the Trump administration,
- 13:28Speaker 1: kicking and screaming. Is the author for real here? I'm
- 13:31Speaker 1: getting sick of this shit too. And if you haven't noticed,
- 13:34Speaker 1: like Circe Lannister, I woke up today and I chose
- 13:37Speaker 1: verbal violence. I've had enough. Enough of the gaslighting and
- 13:40Speaker 1: enough of the bullshit. One Epstein victim told agents in
- 13:46Speaker 1: 2019 that Epstein directed her to give massages to Black
- 13:49Speaker 1: and others. But New York prosecutors examined the claim and
- 13:52Speaker 1: never charged them. Yeah, the whole idea was to control
- 13:56Speaker 1: the blast area. Just like I told you. Black devoted
- 14:01Speaker 1: much of his Friday statement to three civil suits brought
- 14:03Speaker 1: by the Wigdor law firm, calling them baseless and fabricated.
- 14:08Speaker 1: The first two were dismissed with prejudice. In the third,
- 14:11Speaker 1: the ex-Apollo CEO... said a federal judge issued a 76-page
- 14:15Speaker 1: ruling last month sanctioning the plaintiff, her lawyer, and the
- 14:19Speaker 1: firm for submitting false evidence. He said that the plaintiff
- 14:23Speaker 1: testified she bore four of Epstein's children, three of them
- 14:26Speaker 1: kidnapped at birth. As a result of this torrent of
- 14:29Speaker 1: lies and misrepresentations, I've received death threats and my family
- 14:34Speaker 1: now feels unsafe. For the first time in my life,
- 14:37Speaker 1: I've had to deploy a bodyguard, Black said, according to
- 14:40Speaker 1: the prepared remarks. These people are all the victims now.
- 14:44Speaker 1: The whole idea of what they're trying to do here
- 14:47Speaker 1: is throw a lid on the conversation. They don't want
- 14:50Speaker 1: you talking about Leon Black. They don't want you talking
- 14:53Speaker 1: about Les Wexner. For the first time ever, these dudes
- 14:56Speaker 1: are in the spotlight. And guess what? Welcome to the show.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Before the session began, Comer told reporters he believed it
- 15:04Speaker 1: might be the most groundbreaking hearing yet in the committee's
- 15:07Speaker 1: nearly year-old Epstein probe. What? Stop it. Give me a break,
- 15:12Speaker 1: James Comer, okay? This could be a pretty significant deposition
- 15:18Speaker 1: as we try to get answers, he said. The committee
- 15:20Speaker 1: is investigating how the federal government handled Epstein and his associate,
- 15:24Speaker 1: Glenn Maxwell, the socialite daughter of a British newspaper tycoon.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Epstein died by suicide, allegedly, in August 2019 while awaiting trial.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I'm glad the author is so confident in that. Well,
- 15:38Speaker 1: he died by suicide. The government told me so. And
- 15:41Speaker 1: it was backed up by Nicholas Tartaglione. The panel previously
- 15:46Speaker 1: interviewed former President Bill Clinton and billionaire Bill Gates, who
- 15:50Speaker 1: both denied wrongdoing. Black and his family own about 14%
- 15:54Speaker 1: of Apollo. Representative Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the
- 15:58Speaker 1: Oversight Committee, voiced support of subpoenaing Black. There are numerous
- 16:03Speaker 1: allegations of real abuse by women, by survivors, against Mr. Black.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Garcia said, We understand that Mr. Black may also be
- 16:11Speaker 1: connected to and had a relationship with President Trump. Always
- 16:15Speaker 1: President Trump thrown in. And that, of course, causes more division. Like,
- 16:21Speaker 1: we get it, okay? Trump is overseeing this cover-up. But
- 16:24Speaker 1: if you try to connect every single piece and thread
- 16:26Speaker 1: directly back to Trump, this is going to fail. Trump
- 16:31Speaker 1: certainly played his part here with the cover-up, and certainly
- 16:33Speaker 1: had a relationship with Epstein in the past, but the
- 16:36Speaker 1: whole story isn't about Trump. And the more people like
- 16:39Speaker 1: Garcia try to make it all about Trump and not
- 16:42Speaker 1: about the overall empire. Notice he doesn't talk Rico. Notice
- 16:45Speaker 1: he doesn't talk the NPA. Notice he doesn't talk holding
- 16:48Speaker 1: people accountable from the first negotiation. No. What does he do?
- 16:53Speaker 1: Same old shit. So I told you from the beginning
- 16:56Speaker 1: about Garcia and the thoughts I had about him and
- 16:59Speaker 1: how I didn't think he was being honest. And I
- 17:01Speaker 1: feel the same way now. In fact, worse. Him and Comer,
- 17:04Speaker 1: two peas in a pod. And this committee? Absolute joke.
