- 0:22Speaker 1: we are discussing the account of Monte Cristo Season one.
- 0:26Speaker 1: There's only one season, episode five, which originally aired on

- 0:42Speaker 1: story please? Last night I went upstairs, I was like, sorry, guys.

- 0:53Speaker 1: such a flex Nowdas, and I was like, listen, you
- 0:56Speaker 1: don't understand how great the content is there, you know what.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I open up the PBS streamer, I'm like, there's not

- 2:17Speaker 1: are you ready for a synopsis? Yeah? Episode five The Ball.
- 2:21Speaker 1: As Edmund continues to infiltrate the lives of his betrayers,
- 2:27Speaker 1: he discovers more dark secrets that could destroy their reputations. Meanwhile, Mercedes,
- 2:34Speaker 1: trapped in the middle of his revenge plot, begins to

- 2:40Speaker 1: the cast and crew of The Count of Money Cristo

- 2:47Speaker 1: is linked in our show notes. It'll take you directly
- 2:49Speaker 1: to the page for this episode. Girls Gone Hallmark dot
- 2:53Speaker 1: Com is chock full of information about Hallmark and our
- 2:57Speaker 1: PBS shows, so click around if you haven't, which leads
- 3:01Speaker 1: me to my next question. Uh huh didn't we recently
- 3:04Speaker 1: talk about if we needed to do our own PBS podcast.
- 3:08Speaker 1: I have a lot of thoughts about that. I want
- 3:10Speaker 1: to hear your thoughts one and two. Did to anybody
- 3:12Speaker 1: write in? A lot of people did tell me more?
- 3:15Speaker 1: So we got more? Tell me more, so I'll tell
- 3:18Speaker 1: you what people said. We got two varying opinions. Some
- 3:20Speaker 1: people said, I mean, I could no way to read
- 3:22Speaker 1: one of them. Yes, okay, let's let's read one of them.
- 3:25Speaker 1: So Christine wrote in, and she said, yes to a
- 3:27Speaker 1: PBS podcast. I followed you guys from Long Story Short
- 3:30Speaker 1: to GGH to Patreon and would definitely follow you to
- 3:33Speaker 1: a PBS podcast. Can't do the reality stuff. Sorry, Wendy,
- 3:36Speaker 1: So I'm not interested in the summerhouse coverage this summer.
- 3:40Speaker 1: We're actually covering in the city this summer. But I'm
- 3:43Speaker 1: loving the count of Monte Cristo and the Foresight's discussions,
- 3:45Speaker 1: and I feel like PBS has so many more good
- 3:48Speaker 1: shows to dive into. I realized time is limited, but
- 3:51Speaker 1: just wanted to let you know that I'm one hundred
- 3:53Speaker 1: percent in if you decide to do more PBS coverage.
- 3:57Speaker 1: On the other side, and we received multiple email on
- 4:00Speaker 1: both sides of this issue, but Michelle sent a message
- 4:04Speaker 1: and she said, I honestly don't think PBS has enough
- 4:07Speaker 1: shows to warrant its own podcast. I think you would
- 4:10Speaker 1: be struggling to feel content plus another Instagram, etc. I
- 4:13Speaker 1: like having it as a little extra on the GGH
- 4:16Speaker 1: podcast because the PBS shows that you're reviewing are very
- 4:19Speaker 1: Hallmark esque. People that listen to GGH can skip the
- 4:22Speaker 1: PBS if they don't like it. But I think you
- 4:23Speaker 1: have a good base of listeners, and by promoting PBS
- 4:26Speaker 1: with SEO and tagging PBS on Instagram, I think you
- 4:28Speaker 1: will build an additional following. Do you want to hear
- 4:31Speaker 1: my thoughts? Yeah. My thoughts are that we should not
- 4:35Speaker 1: do a separate podcast because you and I time is limited. Correct, Yes,
- 4:45Speaker 1: you want to do a PBS podcast. Oh. The disadvantage
- 4:49Speaker 1: of having PBS episodes under the Girls Gone Hallmark feed
- 4:53Speaker 1: is it's hard to market them. That being said, I
- 4:56Speaker 1: don't know how many people are looking for a PBS podcast. Sure,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I think they're far more likely to look for the
- 5:02Speaker 1: Foresight there's specific shows. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that
- 5:05Speaker 1: makes sense. Creating another podcast means running another website for it.
- 5:10Speaker 1: For show notes, it means you got to promote it separately,
- 5:13Speaker 1: and so we would need to have She's write, another
- 5:15Speaker 1: Instagram or another form of promotion. I think, based on
- 5:19Speaker 1: our current available resources, it's not the best idea to
- 5:24Speaker 1: launch a separate podcast. I agree with you. Oh good.
- 5:29Speaker 1: There were some people in our survey who said I'm
- 5:33Speaker 1: not interested in the PBS stuff, and I think that's
- 5:37Speaker 1: whine skip it. We're not compromising Hallmark content by adding PBS.
- 5:42Speaker 1: We're covering The Way Home, We're covering Hope Valley, We're
- 5:45Speaker 1: covering all the new Hallmark movies. We're not not covering
- 5:50Speaker 1: anything by doing Catamine, Crysto and the Foresights and whatever
- 5:53Speaker 1: else may come, So feel free to skip those. Will
- 5:59Speaker 1: we do more PBS that feels like probably yeah, if
- 6:01Speaker 1: there's something that strikes our fancy, Yeah, Foresight season two. Yeah,
- 6:06Speaker 1: But I think it's not for us right now to
- 6:09Speaker 1: do a fully separate podcast. I think that is a
- 6:13Speaker 1: fair and balanced assessment. There's just not enough time, to
- 6:19Speaker 1: be honest, right, there's not enough time the day. We
- 6:22Speaker 1: have a full team on Megan and Wendy Media right right,
- 6:26Speaker 1: and we have a social media manager, and we have
- 6:28Speaker 1: an editor, and we have someone writing our newsletter every
- 6:31Speaker 1: week and all of those other things, and you and
- 6:32Speaker 1: I are just all we do is create content and
- 6:35Speaker 1: we don't write show notes. Right then? Maybe, yeah, So
- 6:40Speaker 1: the answer is no, But we're still open to your
- 6:42Speaker 1: suggestions for additional shows that we should cover over here
- 6:45Speaker 1: on The Girls Gone Hallmark for Feed. Yes, yes, maybe
- 6:48Speaker 1: let's take a quick break. Sure, Okay, Hey, what was
- 7:00Speaker 1: your first impression of the kind of Monte Cristo episode
- 7:03Speaker 1: five without Google? How is Dante's gathering this level of intel? Oh? Yeah, right,
- 7:12Speaker 1: like it boggles my mind? I know, I wonder I'm
- 7:16Speaker 1: gonna okay, I have I have some questions to pose
- 7:18Speaker 1: but later on, Okay, we'll come back to what's your
- 7:20Speaker 1: first impression. My first impression is Edmond is playing chess
- 7:23Speaker 1: and I don't know how to play chess. Would you
- 7:26Speaker 1: just get like completely hoosed by him? Yes? Yeah, you
- 7:32Speaker 1: know what a soul. I love Sam Klaflin when he
- 7:38Speaker 1: does this like sort of like head tilt, like do
- 7:42Speaker 1: you know what? Have you ever clocked? It? Like when
- 7:43Speaker 1: he's like talking to these people and he'll just be like,
- 7:47Speaker 1: I know so much more than you do. Yes, what
- 7:50Speaker 1: an interesting thought you had? They're you so so wrong.
- 7:53Speaker 1: He plays this part so well. He's excellent. He's excellent.
- 7:59Speaker 1: The subtle act bits he does are really my favorite thing.
- 8:03Speaker 1: He's not a he's not a big actor in that way.
- 8:08Speaker 1: He just communicates so much with just the slightest inflection
- 8:13Speaker 1: in his face. Yeah, I'm gonna have to do a
- 8:14Speaker 1: deep dive on him, right. I don't really know a
- 8:17Speaker 1: lot of his stuff either. This is not always the case,
- 8:20Speaker 1: but for a show like this, I think it would
- 8:22Speaker 1: be a very different experience to watch it as a
- 8:26Speaker 1: viewer than it is to watch it as a reviewer.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Tell me more, if I were watching this as a viewer.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I would just half the time I don't recognize which
- 8:35Speaker 1: woman is which. Half the time I don't remember who
- 8:38Speaker 1: someone is when I watch this show. It takes me
- 8:40Speaker 1: an hour and a half to get through a forty
- 8:41Speaker 1: five minute episode because I'm pausing and looking up names
- 8:43Speaker 1: and trying to remember where I know that person from.
- 8:46Speaker 1: You know, I'm in deep on multiple series at this point. Yeah,
- 8:49Speaker 1: so I thought maybe I would like to show more
- 8:52Speaker 1: if I'm just a viewer and not having to be like, wait,
- 8:54Speaker 1: who's that? Wait? What's their significance? Wait? Why are they here? Yeah?
- 8:58Speaker 1: I have to know who this is and some he asks,
- 9:00Speaker 1: then I can explain, yes, not just Sam's talked to
- 9:03Speaker 1: some dude about saying some dude, Yeah, yeah, did you
- 9:09Speaker 1: like this episode? I liked this episode. Uh oh, it's
- 9:13Speaker 1: not that I didn't like it, it's we are in
- 9:15Speaker 1: setup mode and there's no payoff in this episode. So
- 9:19Speaker 1: there's a lot of what's he gonna do to this person?
- 9:21Speaker 1: What's his endgame with Haiti? How's he gonna help out Max?
- 9:24Speaker 1: I have some questions about Mercedes. Does he really like
- 9:28Speaker 1: and respect Albert? Is he really cool with Albert? Because
- 9:32Speaker 1: Albert is a product of two people who he's upset with.
- 9:36Speaker 1: What's his big plan for Don Glars And did he
- 9:39Speaker 1: send Cadarus to certain death, like you be my decoy
- 9:43Speaker 1: and just get out there in the world and let
- 9:45Speaker 1: that guy follow you. Yeah? Yeah, did you like this episode?
- 9:49Speaker 1: I did like this episode, and I was a little
- 9:51Speaker 1: hesitant going into it because you had said to me
- 9:54Speaker 1: via text, there's a lot happening here, and You're like,
- 9:58Speaker 1: I have to pay attention, and I'm can't. I'm tappy now,
- 10:01Speaker 1: I can't pay I needed to come back to it
- 10:04Speaker 1: the next day. No, yeah, this is this is one
- 10:06Speaker 1: of those shows, and maybe it is. As a reviewer,
- 10:09Speaker 1: I have to put every distraction, excuse me, every distraction
- 10:13Speaker 1: away so I can pay attention. I do wish my
- 10:18Speaker 1: husband was watching it with me, because I do think
- 10:21Speaker 1: he would like it and we could be like, ah
- 10:23Speaker 1: and when someone talk about it in real time. Yeah, yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 1: My biggest like in this episode is Dante's revenge plan
- 10:34Speaker 1: is very detailed, very smart. He's thinking ten steps ahead.
- 10:39Speaker 1: It's slightly diabolical. When he was doing the whole telegraph thing,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I was like, what in the hell is all this about?
- 10:48Speaker 1: And then we see it unfold that the end game
- 10:52Speaker 1: in this particular move was that he was tanking the
- 10:58Speaker 1: stock market for well, not that he was tanking the
- 11:01Speaker 1: stock market, was that he was telling people there, yes,
- 11:04Speaker 1: I have a very unclear like understanding of what the
- 11:08Speaker 1: stock market does, and that for sure theolation of it.
- 11:11Speaker 1: He was saying like, oh, there's un like he was
- 11:13Speaker 1: sending news of like there's unrest in Spain that they
- 11:15Speaker 1: were like, oh, things are bad in Spain. Ditch your
- 11:18Speaker 1: Spanish stock right because they're all going to tank. And
- 11:21Speaker 1: Don Glars has all this stock well, and it's extra
- 11:25Speaker 1: I don't really understand how this works either, but it's
- 11:28Speaker 1: extra sneaky because Don Glars is working with Debray, who's
- 11:31Speaker 1: like feeding him inside her afimation, so he thinks he's
- 11:34Speaker 1: being sneaky, gets rid of all his stock and then
- 11:37Speaker 1: loses his ash. I love it. I just loved it.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I thought, you know it's and they have that whole
- 11:46Speaker 1: inner action where they're like above the stock floor basically,
- 11:49Speaker 1: and he's like, I'm going to hold on to mine.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I'm just going to write it out or whatever, and
- 11:53Speaker 1: Don Klars is like, this guy, what is this guy doing?
- 11:57Speaker 1: I'm smarter than him, which is not the case. I
- 12:00Speaker 1: just love the way he's just so calm. He's like, well,
- 12:03Speaker 1: I'm just gonna see how it goes. Yeah. Just Sam
- 12:05Speaker 1: Klaughlin's just cool as a cucumber, and no point has
- 12:09Speaker 1: he just been like do you know who I am? Yeah,
- 12:12Speaker 1: like Reese Witherspoon and a do I arrest? Oh? Yeah.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I think the character of Edmund Dantees is so interesting
- 12:19Speaker 1: because we, as the viewer or as the reader, I
- 12:22Speaker 1: think we're meant to spend a lot of time questioning
- 12:24Speaker 1: whether or not he's a good person, and whether or
- 12:26Speaker 1: not his actions are justified, and whether or not we
- 12:30Speaker 1: can be on his side. And as we progress, I
- 12:34Speaker 1: understand his need for justice and revenge, but obviously we
- 12:39Speaker 1: keep pushing the boundaries farther and farther into more extreme territory.
- 12:44Speaker 1: And again, we haven't read the book. I don't know
- 12:46Speaker 1: the full story. I don't know what's going on with
- 12:50Speaker 1: his love of chemistry and how that's going to play out.
- 12:53Speaker 1: But I do like that the show makes me ask
- 12:57Speaker 1: the entire time do I like Edmund as a person
- 13:00Speaker 1: and do I like watching Edmund on screen? Because those
- 13:03Speaker 1: are two different answers. I think so too. Yeah, I
- 13:06Speaker 1: don't want to know. Edmond scares that, you know what
- 13:08Speaker 1: out of me? Yeah, I agree, but he's a very
- 13:11Speaker 1: compelling character to watch on screen. Has there ever been
- 13:15Speaker 1: like a modern day remake of this show? That's a
- 13:18Speaker 1: good question, or this novel? I don't know. I don't either,
- 13:22Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Do I understand? Like how
- 13:24Speaker 1: clueless is Emma? Yes, exactly exactly. I think what makes
- 13:27Speaker 1: this so interesting set in the time period that it
- 13:30Speaker 1: is set in, is to your question, in your first impression,
- 13:35Speaker 1: how is all of this possible? Well, that's what I
- 13:38Speaker 1: wonder too, And I'm going to talk about it and
- 13:39Speaker 1: my wishes here, but I'm going to mention it. I
- 13:44Speaker 1: wonder if in the novel there is a lot of exposition. Yeah,
- 13:50Speaker 1: where is it? You know, the storytellers for this show,
- 13:53Speaker 1: it's like, well, we got like eight episodes, so we're
- 13:55Speaker 1: going to just have to Also, how isn't necessarily as interest?
- 14:00Speaker 1: It's interesting to me? It's not as interesting to watch.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I agree, it's interesting. I wonder too, I'm wondering about
- 14:06Speaker 1: all of this when when the inspector is telling Villefort,
- 14:09Speaker 1: you know, Villefort's like, what's his name? How did he
- 14:11Speaker 1: make his fortune? And the inspector is telling him this
- 14:15Speaker 1: is the fake name, that's his name, he made his
- 14:17Speaker 1: fortune and diamond minds, how did Edmund plant that information? That?
- 14:22Speaker 1: All of those details are so interesting to me. When
- 14:25Speaker 1: he says I'm going to give you ten million francs,
- 14:27Speaker 1: I don't know. How is that working without a wire transfer?
- 14:31Speaker 1: I don't know? Or hauling in a giant chest full
- 14:34Speaker 1: of gold. These details are very interesting to me. And
- 14:37Speaker 1: I don't understand this either. Yes, yes, yes, it's interesting
- 14:41Speaker 1: to me because we're watching this show as well as
- 14:46Speaker 1: the Foresights, and there was a little bit of like
- 14:48Speaker 1: Marrine happening, the financial stuff, but also Paris in general,
- 14:53Speaker 1: like in the Four Sights where I can't I don't
- 14:56Speaker 1: know the time frame, like do you know how many
- 14:58Speaker 1: years ahead this is? Aren't we in like the eighteen
- 15:01Speaker 1: seventies and the Foresights and what is this eighteen fifteen
- 15:04Speaker 1: to eighteen thirty nine, so like fifty years different? Okay,
- 15:07Speaker 1: So in the Foresights, Paris is seen as this sort
- 15:11Speaker 1: of like not great place. Isn't that what you're picking up? Oh? Yeah,
- 15:16Speaker 1: it's like a little seedier, right, it's not quite as
- 15:19Speaker 1: refined as London. And then in here we they're in Paris.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Paris society it is a mess like there's shady deals
- 15:29Speaker 1: and marital affairs and all this like the also kind
- 15:35Speaker 1: of the center of the place to be. It is
- 15:37Speaker 1: the place to be in the account of money. Cris Io. Yeah,
- 15:40Speaker 1: it's just interesting to me. I think my ending point
- 15:42Speaker 1: here is just it's just interesting to see how like
- 15:45Speaker 1: messy it is. Just everybody is so messy. I have
- 15:50Speaker 1: to ask you about the Haiti storyline. Oh yes, part
- 15:53Speaker 1: of me is like, where did this come? Where did
- 15:56Speaker 1: this storyline come from? Uh? Huh? Was I our alone
- 15:58Speaker 1: in that? No? Because I think they're telling it backwards?
- 16:02Speaker 1: Oh interesting? Interesting? Interesting, We only really learned she shows up.
- 16:07Speaker 1: We know nothing about her. Okay, that sound like did
- 16:09Speaker 1: I'm missing? No, we know nothing about her. And then
- 16:13Speaker 1: and then how did he find out about her? That's
- 16:14Speaker 1: another question I don't know. But fernand was responsible for
- 16:18Speaker 1: her father's death, right, and so that's the other thing
- 16:21Speaker 1: where I feel like with Haiti and with the children
- 16:25Speaker 1: of mister Morel, we're put in this position where we
- 16:28Speaker 1: see how he is good to those who he believed
- 16:30Speaker 1: deserves it. And I'm curious what his like. Is he
- 16:37Speaker 1: offering Haiti the chance to have revenge in the same
- 16:41Speaker 1: way he wants revenge Or perhaps fernand did her wrong
- 16:45Speaker 1: and so now he's bringing her here to allow her
- 16:50Speaker 1: to witness for nand getting what he deserves. I don't know.
- 16:54Speaker 1: The funniest thing to me is is it for nand no?
- 16:58Speaker 1: Don Glars is the one who's clueless who still likes him,
- 17:02Speaker 1: Villefort doesn't trust him at all, and for Nanda is
- 17:04Speaker 1: like what the heck man? Yeah, they're like kind of
- 17:07Speaker 1: on three different wavelengths. But Donglars is like, eh, I
- 17:09Speaker 1: like him because he's given Danglars all this money to
- 17:12Speaker 1: manage exactly so, and Danglars does not know that he's
- 17:17Speaker 1: the reason that he lost all that money. So I
- 17:20Speaker 1: loved the Mercedes scenes. Yeah, at the ball, Yes, they're
- 17:25Speaker 1: walking and talking. It's very intimate, the way they're speaking
- 17:28Speaker 1: to each other. Mercedes has yet to acknowledge that she
- 17:33Speaker 1: knows who he is. She's speaking like she knows who
- 17:36Speaker 1: he is, but she says, you remind me of someone,
- 17:39Speaker 1: And it feels like he knows she knows, and she
- 17:42Speaker 1: knows she knows. But he's kind of suggesting that maybe
- 17:45Speaker 1: he's not that person. It's an interesting little dance, but
- 17:49Speaker 1: they're so intimate in that discussion it almost feels like
- 17:53Speaker 1: it would draw attention if you saw them talking that way.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Question for you, and I think we've made I've asked
- 18:00Speaker 1: this before. What's the time frame? Okay, he's spent fifteen
- 18:03Speaker 1: years in jail, and then this is like, it's been
- 18:07Speaker 1: twenty years since they were Okay, other because this is
- 18:09Speaker 1: five years in the future. Part of me, my biggest beef,
- 18:11Speaker 1: is like, I'm like, how would they not recognize him?
- 18:14Speaker 1: But then I'm thinking about myself if I was twenty
- 18:19Speaker 1: and met somebody and had a thing with somebody twenty
- 18:22Speaker 1: years later, would I clock them? Right? Because Sam Claflam
- 18:27Speaker 1: looks the same, because it hasn't been twenty years, right,
- 18:30Speaker 1: but right? Is it reasonable that you would think you
- 18:33Speaker 1: look familiar? And you certainly seem he's very different from
- 18:37Speaker 1: that young Edmund for sure is full of life and
- 18:42Speaker 1: very naive and trusting and loving. And now it's just
- 18:47Speaker 1: this see something in the eyes I would look, I
- 18:51Speaker 1: would think so, and I think she does. It's very
- 18:53Speaker 1: clear that when he comes to their home, the first time. Yes,
- 18:56Speaker 1: she has to react. Yeah, but she's got a question herself.
- 18:58Speaker 1: But because you're supposed to be dead. Well, so the
- 19:00Speaker 1: beginning of this episode she goes to the grave, and
- 19:02Speaker 1: I think that is showing her saying what the heck
- 19:05Speaker 1: is going on here? Like, how can I believe this?
- 19:08Speaker 1: We here's his grave? Right? That's very interesting to me.
- 19:11Speaker 1: It's a little agonizing to watch because I want her
- 19:14Speaker 1: to be like, is he right? I know it's you
- 19:17Speaker 1: m hm. You wanted her to call him out on
- 19:19Speaker 1: it a little bit. I have another question about her
- 19:22Speaker 1: for you. A little bit later, we talked a little
- 19:24Speaker 1: bit about the telegraph sequence. Yes, I thought that was
- 19:28Speaker 1: spectacular to watch me too. I actually had to rewind
- 19:32Speaker 1: it a little bit, and I was very happy that
- 19:34Speaker 1: he didn't kill the man. He just incapacitated him a
- 19:37Speaker 1: little bit. You know, that guy's done nothing wrong, quick
- 19:40Speaker 1: working too the hell that he's giving him there you
- 19:44Speaker 1: go and just settles him down telegraphs away. I did
- 19:50Speaker 1: think that scene was very like tense. I was like waiting, like,
- 19:55Speaker 1: what's the guy gonna do if he like gets up
- 19:57Speaker 1: and says like, what are you doing? I mean, I
- 19:59Speaker 1: don't could just be like, oh, I'm just good tons
- 20:02Speaker 1: nothing around with these things. Yeah, because he had said,
- 20:04Speaker 1: will you tell me show me how it works? So
- 20:06Speaker 1: it seemed like maybe they would send a test message
- 20:09Speaker 1: or something. Maybe they have it. I don't know. I
- 20:12Speaker 1: thought it was an incredible scene and it really goes
- 20:15Speaker 1: to what I was saying about, like who, who really
- 20:18Speaker 1: is Edmund at his core? Yeah? Like is he good
- 20:21Speaker 1: or is he bad? Or of course nobody? Is all?
- 20:24Speaker 1: Any one thing you have any more? Likes a small one.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I did like the morale callback Oh yeah, me too,
- 20:31Speaker 1: where he comes across his kids and he finds out
- 20:35Speaker 1: it confirms that like Morrel did think highly of him.
- 20:39Speaker 1: And now we're tying Max into Valentina Villefort's daughter. Yes,
- 20:44Speaker 1: I have a couple of issues with that, and my
- 20:47Speaker 1: wishes not a ton. So can we get into it. Yeah,
- 20:51Speaker 1: let's talk wishes. I'll step right into it. First of all,
- 20:55Speaker 1: Valentine Valentine? Is it Valentine or Valentine? I'm not sure.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I can't remember. It's Villefort's daughter. She looks so much
- 21:03Speaker 1: like the sister, and I'm like, who, Who's who? Who's who?
- 21:07Speaker 1: They just both have like similar faces with their hair
- 21:10Speaker 1: like kind of pulled back. I don't know. But also
- 21:13Speaker 1: I'm like, who are these people? Like why are we
- 21:16Speaker 1: I mean, I know who these people are, but do
- 21:18Speaker 1: we need all of a sudden I know, yeah, all
- 21:20Speaker 1: of a sudden. I was like, why are we introducing
- 21:22Speaker 1: to all of these other Like it's getting more complicated.
- 21:25Speaker 1: It's definitely more complicated, And part of me is like,
- 21:28Speaker 1: there's so many storylines and not like we're just moving
- 21:32Speaker 1: so fast, right, And that's why I laugh every time
- 21:36Speaker 1: I think, oh, there's only one season, because there's just
- 21:41Speaker 1: so many characters and it's moving at such rapid pace
- 21:45Speaker 1: and it's very complicated and interweaved. I'm like, is there
- 21:51Speaker 1: going to be a resolution in the next four episodes? Three?
- 21:55Speaker 1: That's my biggest that's my biggest wish about this episode.
- 21:58Speaker 1: This is a building episode, and we are preparing for
- 22:00Speaker 1: so many things to happen, and there are so many
- 22:04Speaker 1: loose threads, and we introduce even more, so many more
- 22:08Speaker 1: in this episode. You know, we have Albert and oh Eugena,
- 22:13Speaker 1: Albert and Eugenia, right, and then at the very end
- 22:15Speaker 1: of the episode, I said, oh, Eugenie is in love
- 22:18Speaker 1: with her voice teacher. Right then we have Max and Valentino.
- 22:21Speaker 1: We have de la Forte distrusts the Count. We have
- 22:24Speaker 1: Haiti what's going on there. We have this affair that
- 22:27Speaker 1: Hermine is having with del Rey. Yes, we have Yakapo
- 22:30Speaker 1: going to get this dude Vampa. Yeah, because the Count
- 22:33Speaker 1: saved his father. What does he need Vampa for? Why
- 22:35Speaker 1: does he have to go all the way there? You
- 22:37Speaker 1: owe me? So come out here and do my bidding. Yeah,
- 22:39Speaker 1: I guess that guy seem like a bad guy. Yeah.
- 22:43Speaker 1: There's just all of these little spiderwebs out in the
- 22:47Speaker 1: open and there's no resolution. And it just felt like, oh,
- 22:51Speaker 1: we're just building and building and building on this house
- 22:53Speaker 1: of cards, and we have to start wrapping them up.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I hope so. And I just oh my, I want
- 22:59Speaker 1: to google so bad. Like does Dante's win at the end?
- 23:04Speaker 1: You know? Yeah, I just like you said, house of cards,
- 23:08Speaker 1: that's a great way to explain it. That's what's happening. Oh,
- 23:13Speaker 1: why is Dantes so terrible to Caderousse continues to be
- 23:17Speaker 1: so terrible to him? I agree with that, that's my
- 23:20Speaker 1: question too. And I keep going back to he's been
- 23:23Speaker 1: betrayed by Cadarousse once and I don't think he's a
- 23:27Speaker 1: man who offers second chances. I mean, I did love
- 23:30Speaker 1: that Cadarousse was like messing around with like that lady
- 23:33Speaker 1: and I it made me wonder like, oh, is that
- 23:35Speaker 1: a genuine thing or is he just trying to get
- 23:37Speaker 1: information from her? But almost funny. I also love how
- 23:41Speaker 1: he's like, is my life in danger? And found goes?
- 23:43Speaker 1: Not yet? Yeah? Like no skin off my back man, yep.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I have a question for you, okay, So look, we
- 23:50Speaker 1: talked about the Morale children and Haiti, people who he
- 23:53Speaker 1: seems to be protecting. Where do you think Mercedes fits
- 23:57Speaker 1: into the pendulum of people he wants to destroy and
- 24:00Speaker 1: people he wants to protect. I don't know if he
- 24:04Speaker 1: is so like let's compare Mercedes to Cadarousse. If he's
- 24:10Speaker 1: so terrible to He's not terrible to Catarousse, He's terrible
- 24:14Speaker 1: right for that betrayal. It just leads me to wonder,
- 24:19Speaker 1: does he think that Mercedes betrayed him? And if so,
- 24:23Speaker 1: then yes, then she's going to be treated as such.
- 24:28Speaker 1: But I don't know if that's how he sees it.
- 24:32Speaker 1: That's my that's the biggest question mark for me as well.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Will be bombed if like she goes down with because
- 24:39Speaker 1: when he became out of prison, he was saying the
- 24:41Speaker 1: woman I love. He was using that in the present tense,
- 24:45Speaker 1: and so as much as I can understand, she thought
- 24:49Speaker 1: he was dead at this point. It was only a
- 24:51Speaker 1: year later, which I think would probably be a knife
- 24:55Speaker 1: to the heart moment for him that she moved on.
- 24:58Speaker 1: But again, she thought he was dead, and this is
- 24:59Speaker 1: a time period where women weren't successful on their own.
- 25:03Speaker 1: She probably did need to have a partner. The fact
- 25:06Speaker 1: that it's per nand makes it worse. Yeah, I have
- 25:09Speaker 1: a question for you, Yes, at what point do you
- 25:12Speaker 1: think Villafort actually becomes a real threat to Edmund? Like,
- 25:16Speaker 1: is Villefort gonna find out what's going on? Well, I
- 25:19Speaker 1: love that Edmund already knows what Villefort's up to. What
- 25:23Speaker 1: this confirms for me is that Villefort hasn't changed. Villefort
- 25:27Speaker 1: doesn't feel any remorse for what he's done. He's still
- 25:29Speaker 1: manipulating the law. Yeah, even worse. And he's working with
- 25:32Speaker 1: that inspector and the guy's like, yeah, I can't be
- 25:34Speaker 1: going outside the law anymore. Right on the job, I
- 25:38Speaker 1: can do it for cash off the clock, And I'm
- 25:41Speaker 1: like Oh you're still a bad guy. This is not
- 25:43Speaker 1: a bad decision you made in your youth to protect
- 25:45Speaker 1: your father. This is who you are at your course.
- 25:47Speaker 1: So I'm ready for you to get what you deserve.
- 25:50Speaker 1: And also, of course we saw him bury that baby,
- 25:54Speaker 1: and he lies to her mind. He's like the baby
- 25:56Speaker 1: was dead when I bury. Yes, my feeling is that
- 26:02Speaker 1: the Count will come out victorious in the Count versus
- 26:05Speaker 1: Villafort because he sees what he's I don't know how
- 26:08Speaker 1: he knows, but he knows what he's doing, and so
- 26:12Speaker 1: Villefort is not as sneaky as he thinks he is. Yeah,
- 26:16Speaker 1: are you gonna read the book? I am. I put
- 26:19Speaker 1: no timeline on that proclamation, though, yes, look the Kids
- 26:22Speaker 1: of Death for any book for me is if I
- 26:24Speaker 1: purchase the physical book, it's never gonna get read. If
- 26:27Speaker 1: I own it, it will take me forever to read it. Oh,
- 26:29Speaker 1: so you're gonna have to check it out from the
- 26:31Speaker 1: library or like, well, I'd like to own it. It's
- 26:33Speaker 1: just I don't know what it is. It's like if
- 26:36Speaker 1: I buy that book, forget it, it's gonna interest, It's
- 26:39Speaker 1: gonna sit in the stack. That's all I got. Hey,
