- 0:00We're just going to sit here in an embarrassed silence until
- 0:02Luke says something, but he's not here.
- 0:04I think I figured out how to record using this.
- 0:07Isn't it ironic? I mean, I don't mean to be
- 0:10condescending, but it's not ironic that we rely on him for a
- 0:12technical matter with regards to this show.
- 0:15When did that happen? I'd never say that to his face,
- 0:17and I'd call you out for saying it on air.
- 0:18Except he doesn't listen to the show.
- 0:20So I think we're we're safe. Yeah.
- 0:22I'm not sure he knows how to listen to this show.
- 0:24True. Kenny knows how to record.
- 0:26That is. That is ironic.
- 0:29Welcome to Multiple Nerdgasm with your hosts Matt, Luke and
- 0:36Dan Multiple Nerdgasm, your guide to all things nerdy.
- 0:49He's he's been on more podcasts than he's listened to.
- 0:53Yes, yeah, yeah, that's definitely true.
- 0:58So he's not here, obviously, no. And The funny thing is he is not
- 1:02here because he's on too many drugs.
- 1:05But I found his, yeah, prescribed drugs.
- 1:08I found his messages hilarious this week.
- 1:11I think I think drugged up Luke is dead set comedy gold I got.
- 1:16So yeah. So he he's in getting his
- 1:18ketamine treatment for his for his leg as he he's getting what
- 1:21we call the Matthew Perry. And then yeah, it's like I was
- 1:26at work at the time and I got this this because listeners
- 1:31watches you, you know, Luke, he's he's a man of few words on
- 1:35message as well often. Oh yeah, yeah, he weighs him,
- 1:38but he's like, he's, you know, he calculated Yeah, but we he's
- 1:43fucking too massive messages for him, just like fucking ideas for
- 1:47yeah, just just brains and jokes and stuff and it's just like
- 1:52there he is, there he is. Fucking loved it.
- 1:54Yeah, same, same. So yeah, pie as a fucking kite.
- 1:59Get Me gets my thumbs up. Yeah.
- 2:03Yeah, very funny percent. You did something last night
- 2:07that would have made 20 year old Dan extremely happy.
- 2:12You went and saw LinkedIn Park. No, sorry, Linkin Park and went
- 2:17to a job fair. LinkedIn.
- 2:18Yeah, that's right. Yeah, a bunch of decent suits.
- 2:22Yeah, yeah, They extracted their DNA from Amber and turned them.
- 2:27Oh yeah, yeah, No, I saw Lincoln Park.
- 2:31Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:32How were they? Great it was it was awesome,
- 2:35really, really good and fuck man.
- 2:38So it was a TD Park, which is like the big sports arena thing
- 2:42in, in Boston. I wondered whether they came to
- 2:45Rhode Island, Rhode Island, or whether you had to drive down.
- 2:47No, don't have to drive. Yeah.
- 2:49So many fucking people there. Like I think, oh, I think 20,000
- 2:53people ish. And like, and this is the first
- 2:57concert I've been to where they're like, crowd was
- 3:01literally louder than the band. Like, as in, you know, often
- 3:04when you see a band, they'll be singing and then they'll stop.
- 3:07And then you go, oh, you hear the crowd.
- 3:09Oh, wow. The crowd's really loud.
- 3:11That's great. Yeah.
- 3:12Like, they didn't have to stop. Like, there were times where I
- 3:14could not hear the band. This fucking loud ass band that
- 3:19my, my watch was saying, you're in a loud environment.
- 3:21What are you doing, mate? You're too old for this.
- 3:24Over the fucking crowd yelling the songs.
- 3:27It was great. That is great, Linkin Park.
- 3:30I mean, I don't, I don't need to tell you.
- 3:32And the listeners don't want to hear me crap on about how much I
- 3:34like Linkin Park. But they're a band that have
- 3:38matured with their audience at such an intelligent rate.
- 3:43Yes, that's the. So they have a new singer, as
- 3:47people may or may not know, which was according to the
- 3:50Internet, you're supposed to hate her and send her death
- 3:52threats. I don't understand that.
- 3:54So, Matt, have you been doing that?
- 3:55Have you been sending your threats?
- 3:57No, I think she's great. I I don't understand.
- 4:00Well, I think there's a couple of reasons you might not like
- 4:03her. One, she's a woman.
- 4:04Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:05Chester was not a woman. Yeah, just that she's not
- 4:09Chester. And clear on that.
- 4:09Full stop. There's that.
- 4:11Yes, but I think so, you know, it's very unfortunate what
- 4:17happened. Chester took his own life.
- 4:20But I feel like the rest of the band had no say in that.
- 4:24And I just think if if that had that happened, right.
- 4:28And obviously they they did nothing for 10 years.
- 4:31They were like, I guess we're done.
- 4:33But then it seems like from what Mike Shinoda said in interviews,
- 4:37they kind of met up and then they were like, you know what?
- 4:40I don't think we're done. Kind of think I'm done.
- 4:42What about you guys? Yeah.
- 4:44And then they were like, yeah, no.
- 4:45And then yeah. And they were like, well,
- 4:47actually you have side projects. We just have this bed.
- 4:50So we're definitely not done. Like.
- 4:51Yeah, like you've still been working.
- 4:53Yeah, that's right. Yeah.
- 4:54You've got Fort Minor, you've got solo stuff.
- 4:57We. We're just hanging out for the
- 4:58Lincoln Park reunion. Yes.
- 5:00So I just don't see anything because people have said, oh,
- 5:03it's disrespectful, the chest or whatever.
- 5:05No, it's not. I mean, he made his decision on
- 5:07that front without them. Like no, I don't need to like
- 5:10no, no, no, but I mean it. It is a selfish decision without
- 5:14the heavy qunotation of you know, I'm not judging the guy
- 5:16for it. No, no, they're saying like
- 5:18tragic. He he didn't take into
- 5:19consideration who was gonna sing for they Yeah, it's not like the
- 5:22band decided to split up and they've reformed without him.
- 5:25That's right, yeah, they didn't bully him out.
- 5:27No, So, yeah, I don't, I don't, I understand that argument.
- 5:31Look, I understand. I look, I would also understand
- 5:33if somebody, I mean, Chester wasn't even my favorite part of
- 5:36that band, you know what I mean? Like, no, it's so I've got to
- 5:39say, hearing Mike is like, I mean, I'm sure if if Chester was
- 5:45still singing, his voice would do the same thing.
- 5:46But like, just Mike, just rapid, like I, it's just like, I don't
- 5:51know. I was like, oh, fuck yeah, man.
- 5:52I'm like, you know, I'm 20. I'm 20 again.
- 5:55Yeah, yeah. And did they play songs from
- 5:57like, Hybrid Theory, like the playoffs?
- 5:58Yeah, yeah, yeah. And the new singer just sang
- 6:01Chester's Pass. She's great songs.
- 6:03Yeah, yeah, yeah. She doesn't sound like Chester,
- 6:05which is arguably don't get someone who just sounds like
- 6:09Chester, but she sounds, she sounds great doing his.
- 6:13She can do it in the songs. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's great.
- 6:16And the new stuff's good too. So yeah, like I've got to listen
- 6:19to the new stuff. I've got to listen to more of
- 6:20the new stuff. And yeah, anyway, I loved it.
- 6:23Yeah, great. Cool to see him again.
- 6:26That's a fucking fancy ass show, too.
- 6:28It was in like, like, so it was like a, the stage is in the
- 6:31middle, so everyone's just all the way around.
- 6:34Like, you know, like they were at one end and everyone's
- 6:36looking at them. It was in the middle.
- 6:38They played for two hours. They had like, like, drums and,
- 6:45you know, Mr. Hahn with his sexy stuff on one side.
- 6:49Yeah. And then they were facing in a
- 6:52circle like that. And then halfway through, they
- 6:54went off for a bit. The team ran on and just spun
- 6:56the whole set around. So everybody got, like a yeah,
- 7:00that's right. Yeah, that's cool, awesome,
- 7:03awesome. And then this crazy lights show
- 7:05with, like, lasers and fucking shit everywhere.
- 7:07It's cool. Fuck, yeah.
- 7:08You hadn't seen them before? No, and I don't.
- 7:14I know that if I hadn't seen them before, it would be in
- 7:16Australia, where I don't like we get back when we were kids, we
- 7:22didn't get a lot of bands until we were kind of about 20 ish.
- 7:25And then bands started coming more frequently to Australia.
- 7:28But they didn't bring the light show often.
- 7:29Yeah. Or like the one that you'd see
- 7:31in videos, you know, you watch 9 Inch Nails on.
- 7:33Yeah, on the DVDs or whatever. You'd be like.
- 7:35I didn't see that. Yeah, that stuff was blowing up
- 7:39when I was there. They just came and played music
- 7:42stage at one end of the hall and they played the music.
- 7:45Yeah. Well, actually more often than
- 7:47not they came and did festivals. So they just did like a small
- 7:51set at a festival. I know Lincoln Park have come to
- 7:53Australia. I don't even think.
- 7:55It's certainly not during the peak time.
- 7:58They were just doing like the big day outs and stuff like
- 8:00that. And I was like, don't do that.
- 8:01Do a big fucking show. I want to go, yeah.
- 8:02I don't want to hang out for a weekend in the dirt in the sun.
- 8:07Yes. And they would off like smaller
- 8:09bands would often do like the sideshows at yeah, sound wave
- 8:12and stuff like that. But yeah, some of the times the
- 8:14big bands just didn't do it. I was like, yeah.
- 8:15I mean, come on. I can kind of understand to a
- 8:20point. Why.
- 8:21Like if you just love Chester, you would you would mourn his
- 8:23loss and and not be able to get a new singer.
- 8:26But like, but like, I don't know, in a strange way, I still
- 8:30wish Jason Eusted was in Metallica, but he is talking
- 8:34about this afterwards. And Robert Trudillo has been in
- 8:37Metallica longer than all the bass players leading up to him.
- 8:41So that's my problem, not Metallica's problem.
- 8:44Yeah. Jenna and I were talking
- 8:45afterwards about how. Because like, obviously I never
- 8:47saw Linger Park with Chester. So.
- 8:51And we're talking about, like what?
- 8:52What bands do you regret not having seen in the various
- 8:56incarnations? I said, yeah, Metallica with
- 8:58Jason Newsted just because, like, I don't know.
- 9:02Others would say Metallica with Cliff Byrne.
- 9:03Yes. So like, it's not like, yeah,
- 9:06yeah. Just because that's with Jason,
- 9:08that's the era that I exactly because I, I mean, I like the
- 9:12Cliff era, but I visited that retroactively after I had
- 9:16already heard Jason's Cliff had died before I even knew who
- 9:20Metallica were. Yeah, that's right.
- 9:22Yeah. By falling out the window of a
- 9:24bus and then having the bus fall on him.
- 9:28Fuck. That's.
- 9:29Like, yeah. Crazy.
- 9:32Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:33They crashed the tour bus. Or somebody crashed the tour
- 9:35bus. I can't remember who it was.
- 9:37The driver, presumably. Yeah.
- 9:38Whoever it was. Yeah.
- 9:39Well, yes. Yes, But he fell out the window.
- 9:42Yeah. And then was crushed by the bus.
- 9:45Yeah. It's fucked.
- 9:46The people who stayed in the bus survived.
- 9:50Yeah. Jason didn't die.
- 9:53He was just bullied until he left.
- 9:55If you believe him, yes yeah, and they all admit that if you
- 10:01listen to the end Justice for all album, you can't hear him.
- 10:04And then Lars is like, yeah, it's because we turned him down
- 10:06yeah, we we we thought it'd be funny way down so that they
- 10:09released a fucking album where they just took turned the bass
- 10:12off Yeah, just to. And then on black album, he
- 10:15wrote a bass only track and then they just put lyrics on it
- 10:21didn't tell him. Oh man, for chasing.
- 10:27Yeah. So that and I wish I'd seen,
- 10:29I've seen 9 Inch Nails a bunch of Times Now.
- 10:32I never saw them before. Like the Reformation in like,
- 10:38was it 2001 with teeth? So I never saw them.
- 10:41The With Teeth tour was my first live concert too.
- 10:44Yeah, just because they didn't come to Australia that often.
- 10:48And so there was, there was a limited opportunity and I never
- 10:51took the opportunity. And in fact, they played it Big
- 10:53day out was the last. But before the Fragile, I think
- 10:56that's the only show they did in Australia for that period was a
- 11:00big day out. And I didn't go because I was
- 11:02like big day out, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:05And then and then instantly Trent was like, I'm fucking
- 11:08done, I'm in rehab or whatever. And I was like, God, I'm never
- 11:11going to see them for my friends.
- 11:14And then yeah, yeah. So and then they reformed I saw
- 11:17a bunch of times, but I never saw them before that with like
- 11:19Danny Loner and like, yeah, all those guys.
- 11:22So it's basically a different band after that.
- 11:27Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah, Yeah.
- 11:31I would say it's the opposite with I've seen Nick Cave and the
- 11:34Bad Seeds heaps it half a dozen times.
- 11:37But I would arguably say the Bad Seeds are a better lineup now
- 11:41than they ever were, you know, so like when you see them now,
- 11:44Warren Ellis and you know, and it's just it's fucking good
- 11:47shit. So NIN is, is very polished
- 11:50these days, right. So to see them is probably
- 11:53technically better right now. But the scrappy version, like
- 11:58those earlier albums to me are like my favourites and just I've
- 12:03not seen them in that era is what's like, oh man, I should
- 12:06have done that. Like, yeah, yeah.
- 12:09Were you with the big Top gig where he walks off?
- 12:13Yeah. Little Park, because they.
- 12:15Yeah. Little Park because they
- 12:16couldn't get the lights right. Yeah.
- 12:19Because we're talking about that too, though, because they, that
- 12:21was one of the occasions where they did bring some of the show
- 12:24with them, like the big fucking, the lights that were in front of
- 12:27them and all that kind of stuff. Yes.
- 12:29Oh, fuck yeah. That was incredible.
- 12:32Because yeah, we didn't get that all the time.
- 12:34No, we did not. No, we did not.
- 12:37No, the fucking Dresden Dolls are touring again.
- 12:41I've noticed. Oh, are they?
- 12:43Which is sound as funny. I saw them at fucking Manning
- 12:46Bar. Yeah, right.
- 12:48Manning Bar. I couldn't think of the name of
- 12:49that the other day. Yeah.
- 12:51And I'm like, OK, She's like, what do I do now?
- 12:55Neil Gamer's got me in way too much trouble.
- 12:57Oh, just stop using my name. I've been watching Sandman
- 13:00season 2. It's good.
- 13:03OK. Yeah, I'm enjoying it.
- 13:06They're caught. It's make honestly, watching it
- 13:09makes me annoyed because I'm like, like, Neil, why did you
- 13:13have to fucking like, your stuff's so good.
- 13:16Like, yeah. And and we're getting so much of
- 13:19it. And it's like, what?
- 13:20I mean, it's just like, yeah, God damn it, Neil.
- 13:25I know. Yeah.
- 13:26Try try not to make this personal for myself.
- 13:30But. No, I know, I know.
- 13:31But yeah, I'm just annoyed with him.
- 13:33Like how, but I just the casting in the Sandman in particular is,
- 13:41is like because this season's got more of the endless like so
- 13:44like you get a lot of delirium and, and, and the casting for
- 13:47delirium, it's just great. She's great.
- 13:49And I was like, oh man, I want more of this.
- 13:51And then the guy that plays Sandman is plays Dream like,
- 13:57like how do they find that guy? Because this isn't this fucking
- 13:59intense, isn't he? There's shots in this where I'm
- 14:01just like, that just looks like what I remember the comic book
- 14:03like yeah, he just looks like body and his face.
- 14:06It just matches. Yeah, yeah, It's like, how did
- 14:09you find this guy? I do want to watch it now.
- 14:13Yeah, That's it's good, but it but it's a bummer.
- 14:18Yeah, yeah, it it is. It's also a bummer that in
- 14:26addition to enjoying his books, I very much liked hearing him
- 14:31read his books. And he he was always the first
- 14:34to put up his hand to narrate the audio books, several of
- 14:37which I have. And he's one of the few people
- 14:40who I would say, yes, please, you should do that because a lot
- 14:43of authors, I'm like, no, pay a professional.
- 14:45That's right. Do not do it.
- 14:47Yeah. I love your book.
- 14:49I don't love you reading it to me, but because I started just a
- 14:54couple of months ago, I was just looking back at what I had and I
- 14:56was like, oh, fucking Neverwear. It's been years since I've read
- 14:58Neverwear and it's it's him reading it.
- 15:02But now I can just hear him being like and then Richard May,
- 15:06sorry, I've just got to finger someone.
- 15:07Hold on. It's just, I can't separate it
- 15:13yet. Yeah, yet.
- 15:16Yes, it'll come a day. Such a shame.
- 15:19Such a shame. Anyway, yeah, we're not the
- 15:23victims. We're definitely not the
- 15:25victims. We're definitely not the
- 15:27victims. What a deal.
- 15:29I would, I would say that, yeah, I would say that the literary
- 15:32audience as a combined unit is a victim of sorts, but certainly
- 15:39not to detract from literal victims.
- 15:42I'm still baffled by not that I think that this is unfair or I
- 15:47just think it's so strange and unbalanced to me how fucking
- 15:54completely knocked out of existence he's been versus
- 16:00those. And I'm saying not that he
- 16:01shouldn't have been, I'm just saying versus others who have
- 16:05done arguably much worse things who are still completely fine
- 16:10operating in the fucking industry though in like.
- 16:14And I think, yeah, maybe it's just because he he was one of
- 16:18us. Yeah.
- 16:19Like, I think that's how I think that's part of it.
- 16:21It's a betrayal. People feel really betrayed by
- 16:24him. People don't forgive betrayal.
- 16:27That's like the what? You know, because Cormac
- 16:29McCarthy kidnapped an underage girl, talking to Mexico, raped
- 16:33her, left her there and went back to his wife and kids.
- 16:36And that's just a fun story people tell her that people
- 16:39publish. Whatever it was, it's just like,
- 16:43OK, yeah. And I just wonder what it's.
- 16:46Sometimes I'm like, hell yeah. Like, yeah.
- 16:50Again, not that he shouldn't be, just that.
- 16:53Why isn't anybody else? Yeah.
- 16:55Because the one that gets me is that image that went around on
- 16:59the Internet a couple of months after this all came out of that
- 17:04picture of him, black and white and dim lighting with just the
- 17:07word monster next to it. And it's like, yeah, well, hold
- 17:11on. Like yes, yes, he it's
- 17:15inappropriate with women and that needs to stop and he needs
- 17:18to be held accountable for that. But are we, is this a
- 17:22proportional response to that or isn't it?
- 17:25Unless we're saying, if we're saying from now on that's it,
- 17:29everybody is, well, I'm not sure that's the case.
- 17:33I think for some reason he just got fucked.
- 17:37And again, I don't mean to say, yeah, yeah, he shouldn't have
- 17:40been or anything like that. He definitely, he brought all
- 17:42this on himself. I just think he was as shocked
- 17:45as any of us when it's just when when the when the repercussions
- 17:49he got was fucking shit knocked out of him because of it, which
- 17:54probably should end. But yeah, why didn't anybody
- 17:57else? Yeah, that's right.
- 17:58But also the fun, the thing that the thing that makes me also
- 18:03question it is everyone's like, yeah, I knew all along.
- 18:05Here's several clips from him from 15 years ago, like being a
- 18:09weirdo. And it's like, OK, well, if you
- 18:11knew all along he was a weirdo, why wait till now?
- 18:13And again, I'm not talking about the women that I'm talking about
- 18:17people on the Internet who who have jumped on the bandwagon.
- 18:20Now, Yes. Yeah.
- 18:28Anyway, I did something else yesterday.
- 18:30I went to the 24 Hours of Lemons, which is a mockery,
- 18:38would say of the 24 Hour of Lemons race.
- 18:42Jenna's boss is has entered into the 24 hour Lemons.
- 18:45Basically, the premise is, look, it's a very funny pun, but I
- 18:47didn't know that Americans used the word lemon to describe a, a,
- 18:50a bad car. Do they?
- 18:51They must if they say yes. OK.
- 18:53I thought that was always a quintessentially Australian
- 18:55term. So no, no, no, they do.
- 18:58Yeah. The premise is you, you have to
- 19:00spend less than $500 on a car and then you then have to spend
- 19:05a lot of money on safety stuff for the car because you're going
- 19:09to be racing it around a track. I bet that's a new thing.
- 19:12I bet in the 80s they didn't have that rule.
- 19:15They told us, I don't know exactly how much to spend on the
- 19:18car, but we're saying, you know, like, yeah, under 500 bucks.
- 19:20And he goes, mate, this has been very expensive.
- 19:24That's right. Keith's friends.
- 19:26Who? So Keith is Jenna's boss and her
- 19:29his friends, I guess their work at in mechanic OK Industries.
- 19:33Because as far as I know, Keith doesn't fuck all about cars,
- 19:35right? No offense.
- 19:36Keith did be listening. No, but then you do have to have
- 19:38friends who are mechanics. If you're going to, you need to.
- 19:42Yeah, because their car was out of Commission half yesterday and
- 19:44they were trying to fix it. So yes.
- 19:47Right. So fixing it on the fly so that
- 19:48he could continue racing. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:52And there they took turns driving.
- 19:53And it's not, I learned it's not technically 24 hours like Le
- 19:55Mans. It's from 8:30 yesterday to 6:00
- 19:59PM yesterday, and then you have to stop.
- 20:01And then today they'll go again from.
- 20:02Yeah, 3:50 or something. Sure.
- 20:05I mean, that's like when Tom Delong was talking about when
- 20:08the CIA, like, questioned him for 48 hours.
- 20:11And Jared, really, two whole days and nights.
- 20:14He's like, no, not 48 consecutive hours.
- 20:18Every afternoon, watch the movie in between.
- 20:20But it was really fun. And some of the cars, man, like
- 20:29it's like like literally Mad Max shit.
- 20:32Like they've got fucking there's one they've just built a
- 20:36Batmobile by like welding fucking wings on.
- 20:39And it's like like you just don't expect to be see these
- 20:44kind of cars driven because it's just like how how good a job do
- 20:49they do of recreating A Batmobile?
- 20:50Like did it look like a like a world?
- 20:53It looks like a sticky tape thing or did it look like a bat?
- 20:55It looked like the Batmobile if someone from Mad Max made it.
- 20:58I'm not like they all. There's one.
- 21:00I was not. Going to be able to Unsee that
- 21:01because that sounds fucking red. I've got photos.
- 21:04I'll send you some photos. My favorite car was it because
- 21:07I've said this before, I always wanted and I almost bought a
- 21:10300ZX, Nissan 300ZX and there was one that they turned into a
- 21:14shark with a fin on the top of it.
- 21:17That's like that's just fucking cool, man.
- 21:22And so they just drove around like the whole time we were
- 21:26there, they were driving around doing laps.
- 21:28I don't know if anybody's keeping track of.
- 21:32Yeah, I was going to ask what? Yeah.
- 21:34OK. Right.
- 21:34Seems it's not the point. Not the point, no.
- 21:37And I mean, because Keith's car is not competitive, let's say,
- 21:42but they're just there for fun. So.
- 21:43And I, I think a lot of and some of those cars did not cost $500.
- 21:49There's no fucking way. There's like a one thing as in
- 21:53like a modern, modern era Mustang going.
- 21:55Yeah, I guess so Somebody said sell this for you.
- 21:58Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Something, some some dodgy
- 22:01trades or something going on there because some of those cars
- 22:04like a lot of BMWs, like, yeah, right.
- 22:07Yeah. Goes against the spirit of this,
- 22:09surely. Apparently not.
- 22:11Apparently it's like nobody can whatever you can get.
- 22:15OK, sure. On paper, yeah.
- 22:18Because like I said, there's a a pack of them that are like
- 22:21fucking flying around and then everybody else is just kind of
- 22:24like. Yeah, right.
- 22:26Yeah. And here he comes again.
- 22:28Yes. Sick.
- 22:29Yeah. So how much of it did you watch?
- 22:32We were there for, we were there for like 6 hours yesterday.
- 22:36Yeah, right. And like, you know, we were
- 22:38watched and Lira was there. So she was, we were walking
- 22:41around looking at stuff and then she was pretty entertained
- 22:43actually. She like, yeah, that's great.
- 22:47Yeah. It's fun.
- 22:48Nice. Nice.
- 22:49It's a good day out. Yeah.
- 22:52Yeah. She wants to go again today.
- 22:57She said. Yeah, right.
- 22:58Are you going to go? Like, I don't know.
- 23:00We talked. We.
- 23:01Jenna and I said we'll discuss in the morning when she wakes up
- 23:03and we see what? Right.
- 23:05Yeah, kind of a she was. Yeah.
- 23:08She, she stayed at her grandma's because we went to Lincoln Park
- 23:11Friday night. Oh yeah, She stayed at her
- 23:12grandma's. I'm not convinced she slept very
- 23:14well because by by like 6:00 PM yesterday, she was not having
- 23:20it. Like I said, she was having fun.
- 23:22And we, she will not stop having fun.
- 23:24I don't know what you said. She's literally throwing.
- 23:28She's not tired a lot doing snow angels in in the piles of dirt.
- 23:32And we're like, can you please not do that?
- 23:34And she's like, I'm going to do whatever I want.
- 23:37It's like, you're not the boss of me.
- 23:39Yeah, it's OK. We need to take her home now and
- 23:41put her in the shower. Yeah.
- 23:46So let's see how she is this morning.
- 23:48Yeah. Yeah.
- 23:49Fair. That sounds like we've got a lot
- 23:51of fun. A lot of fun.
- 23:52I'm also, I'm just. I'm into obviously just just
- 23:56weekend events, you know, like when you have kids and you've
- 24:01got to find stuff to do on the weekends, you want to just sit
- 24:03around. So that sounds very fun.
- 24:07Yes. All right.
- 24:10We've got some news and whatnot to get to, I suppose.
- 24:13Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:17Take me through this first one because I, I tried to wrap my
- 24:21head around this, this Board of Education meeting and I
- 24:23couldn't, I couldn't quite work it out.
- 24:25So it's quite mysterious, apparently.
- 24:27Yeah. OK, so this was in Oklahoma, I
- 24:31believe. And there was a, a, a Board of
- 24:34Education meeting. And part way into the meeting,
- 24:39some attendees were like, sorry, what's going on?
- 24:44Because on the TV, the, the, the speaker who was speaking at the
- 24:46time, State House speaker No, that's not who was speaking.
- 24:53It's during the meeting. Anyway, behind the person
- 24:59speaking on ATV screen that they have in the meeting room, there
- 25:02was just naked women mysteriously appeared.
- 25:06The video of, of I, I, I don't think it says in what context
- 25:11the, the women were naked, but it was a video of bunch of naked
- 25:14women and people were like, sorry, what's happening?
- 25:17And nobody's owning up to up to why this happened, just
- 25:24apparently has happened. And then now they're, they're
- 25:26like blaming each other. The two I think major political
- 25:29parties obviously saying what's blaming each other for it.
- 25:33And that's like, was this an intentional stunt or that's
- 25:41bizarre? And do we I, I don't, I mean,
- 25:45this is going to sound perverted, but I just, I'm
- 25:48genuinely cute. Do we know what the women were
- 25:49doing? No, that's the I don't think
- 25:51they've said. No one's saying.
- 25:53That's why it's so confusing. It says, OK, this is a quote.
- 25:55This is a quote from Becky Carlson, one of the the the
- 25:59women present during the meeting.
- 26:01I was like, what am I seeing? I was kind of in shock,
- 26:04honestly. I started to question whether I
- 26:05was actually seeing what I was seeing.
- 26:07I was like, is that what we're naked?
- 26:09And then I was like, no, she's got a bodysuit on.
- 26:11And it happened very quickly. I was like, that's not a
- 26:13bodysuit. I hate to even use these terms,
- 26:16but I said, those are her nipples.
- 26:19And then I was looking closer and I got off the body view.
- 26:24So I was so disturbed by that. I was very loudly and boastfully
- 26:29like, it was a parent, A teacher said to Walters, what is on your
- 26:31TV? What am I watching?
- 26:32And he was like, what, what are you talking about?
- 26:35And he stood up and saw it. He made an acknowledgement that
- 26:38he saw it. And I said, turn it off now.
- 26:41And he said, what is this? What is this?
- 26:47And he was like, I can't get it to turn off.
- 26:50I can't figure out how to turn it off.
- 26:52And I said, get it turned off. And he finally got it turned
- 26:55off. And that was the end of it.
- 26:57Amazing. Are you imagine these as older
- 27:00people? They've got to be.
- 27:01Oh yeah, that's up there with I'm not a cat.
- 27:04That's some kind of filter. I'm still here, Your honour, I'm
- 27:10not a cat. Another board member confirmed
- 27:17this description, calling the footage retro.
- 27:20Oh, and saying the women were standing around a chiropractic
- 27:23table. What's a chiropractic?
- 27:28Table. Like a massage.
- 27:30Table, maybe practic table. Yeah, Yeah.
- 27:36Well. But it can.
- 27:38Bend, I think bend people in different table.
- 27:43Yeah, OK. It's one of those ones with the
- 27:45face holes, like a massage table.
- 27:49That's why I came. So, I mean, I mean, from that
- 27:52I've decided what I think the video was probably going to be.
- 27:56I think that probably there were two holes in the table.
- 27:59Yeah, yeah, yeah. But very strange there.
- 28:03Yeah. Yes.
- 28:09So anyway. And yeah, at this point, they're
- 28:11all just blaming each other for. Yeah, right.
- 28:14For it. I mean, what American politics
- 28:17has come to now it literally it is these days.
- 28:20I mean, this is fairly innocuous, to be honest.
- 28:25Yeah. Yeah.
- 28:25You bet on what else everybody's going.
- 28:27If everyone was over the age of 18 and this is.
- 28:29You were on pedophile Ireland. Yeah, You were on pedophile
- 28:32Ireland. You were all on pedophile
- 28:34island. Yeah.
- 28:35Let's just be there. It's about what you did there
- 28:37that we don't know. Yes, everybody was there.
- 28:39Apparently we were there. Yeah.
- 28:42Because I've heard that fucking Trump had a falling out with
- 28:45Epstein because he was pinching stuff from his fucking private
- 28:48island to go to his private island.
- 28:51And then there's pictures of Clinton there getting massaged
- 28:53by those girls. And it's like, this is not a
- 28:55good book. And I'm not saying he had sex
- 28:58with him. I don't know.
- 29:00We don't know. That's the problem.
- 29:01We don't know. We don't know.
- 29:02But I know that he no one's no one blown up to anything.
- 29:04That's right. Somebody was somebody.
- 29:07Yeah, somebody definitely was. Yes.
- 29:11Or this wouldn't be a thing. Right.
- 29:14Like, yeah. Galaine Maxwell's in prison for
- 29:16the rest of her life. There's traffic and women.
- 29:18Who Exactly. Yeah.
- 29:20Exactly. Yeah, Yeah, yeah, Yeah, Yeah.
- 29:21Not just Devstein. It's.
- 29:23I mean. Not buying that.
- 29:26No, no. Yeah.
- 29:28No, definitely not. Apparently we're all there.
- 29:30Fine. You weren't all involved.
- 29:32Fine. I believe that.
- 29:33Yeah. Who fucking was?
- 29:35Yeah. I don't care.
- 29:36I think these people here are like, oh, yeah.
- 29:38But oh, yeah. But like, you know, you think
- 29:40Trump was on the list, but Clinton was on the list.
- 29:41I don't care. Arrest them both.
- 29:43Yeah, that's right. I don't know why you think
- 29:45that's probably did it. Yeah.
- 29:46I don't know why you think it's another all those, all those are
- 29:48not Democrat there too. I don't care.
- 29:50Yeah. Arrest him.
- 29:51Political. It's not political.
- 29:53Stephen Hawkings was there at one point.
- 29:54I'm not saying he was digging up and put him in jail, I don't
- 30:00care. Oh man, another another sex.
- 30:05Another sex related scandal this week, although not the same way.
- 30:09What'd you do? People have been throwing dildos
- 30:12onto the court during WNBA games but it's just because people
- 30:16don't respect women as far as I can tell.
- 30:20A few I thought it was. Something horrible.
- 30:23I mean, it's not political in that sense.
- 30:26Literally what is the purpose of it?
- 30:29Just, I don't know, just to say fucking easy dildo ladies.
- 30:33Like, yeah. Twice this week.
- 30:37Just. Throwing dildos and throwing.
- 30:39Them on to it. That's just a thing that people
- 30:40do now, just a scumbag thing that people do that's so
- 30:43strange. It's pay to get in there too, to
- 30:46do that. I know, I know, right?
- 30:50And you've got to buy a dildo, unless you've already.
- 30:52That's the old dildo that you own.
- 30:56I don't want this anymore. Point are you trying to make.
- 31:02I only watch. Basketball, if there's Dicks.
- 31:05That's so weird. Yeah.
- 31:09OK, Yeah, whatever. I've got nothing to say about
- 31:13this. I've just.
- 31:13Yeah. No, that's just.
- 31:14That's the news. I just report the news.
- 31:17Yeah. Throwing dildos on stage.
- 31:19That's should not at Linkin Park.
- 31:21Yeah, Yeah, I don't understand it, but she would have
- 31:26understood. She would have known, probably.
- 31:29Yeah, She was like, she would have been like, is this a
- 31:30Scientology thing? That was the only controversy
- 31:35that I. This is back to Linkin Park.
- 31:38Apparently Emily, the new singer is or was Scientology related in
- 31:44some way. She was brought up in a
- 31:45Scientology. No, no, I don't give a shit.
- 31:47She, I think the main contentious thing was that she
- 31:51was amongst the people who gave, what's his name, Danny
- 31:53Masterson, a good review. Yeah, they could called into
- 31:58court to give like a character reference and she gave him one.
- 32:00But then she said about it afterwards.
- 32:01She goes, well, I didn't know he'd done that stuff.
- 32:03Yeah, like, I think they all. Yeah, that's the thing.
- 32:06It was a bunch of people that came in and they said, yeah,
- 32:08he's a lovely guy because they weren't the ones that got raped.
- 32:11She said, yeah, I literally didn't even know what he was
- 32:13accused of. I just because it was all in the
- 32:15court case. I just got asked to come in and
- 32:17give a character reference. Yeah.
- 32:18You can't blame her for that. Doesn't seem like it, but.
- 32:23Anyway, and speaking. Of prison, if we.
- 32:26Want to Oh. Yes, I've got for the first time
- 32:29in fuck knows how long. Yeah, she's going follow up.
- 32:32It hasn't come up for a while, but yeah.
- 32:35The West. Memphis 3 case that I've seen a
- 32:38lot, it's kind of a coincidence actually.
- 32:40I've seen a lot of stuff coming out.
- 32:41People have turned on them a little bit, I think in the
- 32:44modern era, because everyone's gotten bored of the story now.
- 32:47Yeah, because they got out. So.
- 32:50OK, if you don't know, I mean, they do admit they did it to get
- 32:52out. That's not.
- 32:53Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 32:54But that's why everyone was like, wow, maybe they did do it
- 32:57then. So they just didn't want to be
- 32:59in prison anymore. Guys in the 90s in West Memphis,
- 33:02three very young 8 or 9 year old boys were murdered and found in
- 33:08the in the woods. And there's three documentaries
- 33:12about it, Paradise Lost 1-2 and three.
- 33:14Basically these other three older kids were convicted of the
- 33:19crime and 'cause it seemed like the cops just went, this must
- 33:23have been done like Goths. Where are the Goths?
- 33:26Yeah, and, and if you watch, they were kind of metal head
- 33:30goth kids. They were little smart asses.
- 33:33They arguably caused more problems than they needed to for
- 33:37themselves by being smart asses to the cops, but I think the
- 33:40documentaries make it pretty clear they didn't kill the kids.
- 33:42Yeah, yeah. Yeah, or.
- 33:44At least it's not beyond reasonable doubt.
- 33:47I don't think they certainly put up enough.
- 33:50Enough other. Evidence to make you question
- 33:53it, Certainly. Yeah.
- 33:54I mean, and they if, if, if there's any flaws in the
- 33:56documentaries, it's that each one of them has a slightly
- 33:59different idea about who it might have been and still
- 34:01actually did do it. Yeah.
- 34:02Yeah. But I don't think that's
- 34:04actually the fault of the documentary.
- 34:06I don't think that's the reason to keep these three people.
- 34:09No, I think it's just really, really unclear who did it.
- 34:11And they just decided it was these three kids and went with
- 34:14it and then they got convicted. Yeah.
- 34:16Yeah. So yeah, so they were in.
- 34:19Prison for 20 years for for this murder.
- 34:22And then one of them deeming was on death row.
- 34:25And then I think, what, like 2000?
- 34:3020 something. Ish wasn't how long ago was it
- 34:32they got out Yeah, they had to do this Alfred plea thing where
- 34:36they basically they say they. Were getting a new trial.
- 34:39Because there was new DNA evidence and a couple other
- 34:42things had come up. So they've been granted a new
- 34:44trial, and then the prosecution made a deal with them that said
- 34:47if you sign this piece of paper, basically what it says is you
- 34:52plead guilty and you accept that you've been found guilty of the
- 34:57crime. And therefore you're legally not
- 35:00able to hold the the police or the courts responsible for
- 35:05falsely imprisoning you. But you are allowed to say that
- 35:08you didn't do it, and you can still investigate and prove
- 35:10later that you didn't do it. So they signed this thing.
- 35:13Basically they said, yeah, we maintain that we didn't do it,
- 35:16but we are guilty in a legal sense because yeah.
- 35:21Because we don't want to be in. Prison anymore because they're
- 35:24literally going to execute Damien because we were fucking
- 35:2617 and now we're death row 40. Yeah, yeah, we'd like to not be
- 35:30in prison anymore. Thank you.
- 35:31We'd like to have a life, some, some kind of life.
- 35:33But lately there's been a lot of there's like a podcast and and
- 35:37some books about like, maybe they just fucking did it.
- 35:40And it's like, well, maybe I guess it doesn't seem like it.
- 35:46I've certainly never been convinced.
- 35:48Yeah. Because the evidence is like,
- 35:50they listen to this song by this band, listen to the lyrics.
- 35:52It's like, well, that's not proof of a man.
- 35:54He knows who Aleister Crowley is.
- 35:56And he says he he was interested in Wicca.
- 35:59And it's like, yeah, so did all of us in the 90s.
- 36:02Yeah. Like it.
- 36:03Yeah. Yeah.
- 36:04Maybe not in West Memphis, but certainly broaden your skirts
- 36:07and you'll see. Yeah.
- 36:09In Penrith. Yeah.
- 36:10I promise you. Yeah.
- 36:13We're all interested in that shit.
- 36:14Shit. Yeah.
- 36:15There were fucking shops where you could just buy books on that
- 36:18shit. Yeah.
- 36:19In Penrith. So I think that's why this
- 36:23captured our generation so much was that just like we saw these
- 36:27kids who could have been ours convicted of this thing based on
- 36:31things that were like, well, we would probably be found guilty
- 36:34on that basis. So.
- 36:37But anyway, so but for the first time in fuck knows how long,
- 36:40because they they did go quiet. And then one of the arguments
- 36:42was that if they're if they're innocent, why have they just
- 36:45stopped looking into this? And it's like, well, because
- 36:47they, I mean, arguably they're just doing it.
- 36:50What's Yeah, they've got stuff to do.
- 36:53Yeah. The outsiders want to just live
- 36:54their lives. Yeah.
- 36:56But this is actually this article literally got updated
- 36:59yesterday or the day before because it was originally saying
- 37:03there was a hearing granted to discuss testing the evidence
- 37:08with new DNA methods. The hearing was granted by the
- 37:12judge after being initially denied and it was held on the
- 37:16first couple days ago and the article got updated because the
- 37:19judge has said yes, they will retest with modern DNA methods.
- 37:25A list of the evidence that is it's in the article.
- 37:28It's a long list of things. I will, I will run through it,
- 37:32but I will censor myself on one of the, yes, one of the items.
- 37:36I believe that's the word you're meant to use.
- 37:38OK. I mean, I'm not sure about it,
- 37:41so I'm not going to use that word.
- 37:44Ligatures, hairs from various people.
- 37:47I don't need to go through the list.
- 37:50Jeans. Lots of hairs, lots of hairs.
- 37:54And then the last item is a hair from, let's just say from a,
- 37:57from an African American person. Probably interesting.
- 38:01Because here there are. No, I've not heard of any.
- 38:06You know, I didn't know they suspected anybody.
- 38:11Yeah. And.
- 38:13Any any black people in the thing, They probably don't.
- 38:17I don't know. Yeah, just, it's just odd that
- 38:19that's on the list to me because.
- 38:20Did that come up? Yeah.
- 38:22It's also odd that they have written it so explicitly and.
- 38:24And just listen, if you if you, it's not what you think.
- 38:27It's just. No, no, no.
- 38:28It's just unnecessarily descriptive.
- 38:30Let's just put it that way. And an old fashioned in an old
- 38:33fashioned way. Yeah.
- 38:38Interesting. So, yeah, Jenna said her money's
- 38:43on Terry Hobbs still. Well, I don't.
- 38:46Know about? That.
- 38:50That's one of the kids step. Dads listeners, he was he he the
- 38:54documentaries, I think every every.
- 38:57Everyone. The first one.
- 38:58Was mostly just centred around like, we don't think these kids
- 39:02did it. The second one was, we think,
- 39:04what's his name? John Mark Baez did it.
- 39:08And then the third one was like, actually it was probably Terry
- 39:10Hobbs. Yeah, yeah.
- 39:11And then I think that's the way everyone's been sitting for a
- 39:14while. But he's got a book out.
- 39:17Terry Hobbs. I mean, there's been just a
- 39:19bunch of stuff about this later, right?
- 39:21It's just covered after silence. Yeah.
- 39:24Other 8 year old boys, Stevie Branch, Christopher Byers and
- 39:27Michael Moore murdered. Because that's the thing that
- 39:30gets lost in this often I think is people are like, oh, Paul
- 39:34Eccles Baldwin and Miss Kelly were wrongfully convicted.
- 39:36The poor, you know, poor guys, whatever.
- 39:38It's like, yeah, but someone, somebody, yeah, three eight-year
- 39:42old boys and seems to be like a, it's a really fucking horrible
- 39:48way. Yeah, like, yeah, yeah.
- 39:51Somebody did that. Yeah.
- 39:53And if it wasn't these guys who've been in prison
- 39:56emphatically saying they didn't do it, still out there, they're
- 39:58there. Yeah.
- 39:59In your town like. Yeah.
- 40:02That's kind of fucking terrifying.
- 40:04Yeah, yeah. It's funny, this.
- 40:08I mean, if podcasts and Netflix documentaries have taught me
- 40:11anything, it's that police, small police stations in small
- 40:14towns just want to pin it on anyone who's easy to pin it on.
- 40:17Right. Yes.
- 40:19But I must say that's just interesting.
- 40:21No, I'm sure it's not the case. But you also think like, well,
- 40:24getting the actual guy should be a a real concern for you at this
- 40:28point. Yeah, it's tough, I think
- 40:31because. I believe.
- 40:34That, you know, like if small town cops, you know, like making
- 40:37a murder and all that kind of stuff.
- 40:38People portrayed they were portrayed in the documentary and
- 40:41they do it in in this case as well.
- 40:44You know, the police are just dumb idiots who just want to
- 40:47send these, you know, these goth kids to jail.
- 40:50I'm sure that's not true. I'm sure they really genuinely
- 40:53like as mortified about this murder as everybody else.
- 40:56Like these were three local kids, but they they have limited
- 41:02resources like. And I know it's the case.
- 41:06Here, I'm sure everywhere that like if you working on a case,
- 41:11you go with what you have. And if they thought they could
- 41:14make a case against the the West Memphis 3, they did, they got
- 41:18convicted and it's like the case closed, especially because
- 41:24they've signed saying they were guilty or whatever.
- 41:26Like that's it, case closed as far as the cops are concerned.
- 41:28They are not looking into this anymore.
- 41:30Yeah, that's right. Because they're not, they can't.
- 41:32They're not allowed to basically.
- 41:33Yeah. Well, also, they feel they don't
- 41:35have to because they've got a conviction.
- 41:38Like if you're at work and you're like, I, I did finish
- 41:41that project. I've closed.
- 41:42I'm just happy with it. I'm going to keep going.
- 41:43And the boss is like, no, no, you will do the new work that
- 41:45I've assigned. Yeah, Like the people that have
- 41:47already gotten this other. No, no, no, I'm just going to.
- 41:49I'm going to work. There are several other murders
- 41:51we need to solve, unfortunately. Yeah.
- 41:54So I get it. That's.
- 41:59It's kind of. Scary that someone who did that
- 42:02is still walking around somewhere.
- 42:04Yeah, yeah, yeah. Or, even more terrifying, they
- 42:11fucking did do it, and now the whole world thinks they're like
- 42:14heroes. Yeah, at least everyone.
- 42:17In our generation thinks they're heroes for.
- 42:19I mean I don't think that's likely, but because why the fuck
- 42:23would Damien Nichols be asking them to DNA test the evidence
- 42:26again if he did it? At this point, he could just do.
- 42:30Nothing. Yeah, that's right.
- 42:32He could just walk away. Yeah.
- 42:34Yeah. He's not getting those 20 years
- 42:35back regardless. Yeah, exactly.
- 42:37Yeah, if if he really did it, his best course of action is
- 42:40nothing at this point. Just live his life.
- 42:44Yeah. So yeah, no, I watched a movie.
- 42:52This. Week that I know you've seen did
- 42:55you? Yeah, yes, because I was I.
- 42:58Just wanted to watch a dumb. Comedy.
- 43:01And I've just got, I've just got Project Hail Mary in my head now
- 43:04because this is my most kind of I just, I just want to watch
- 43:07that movie. Just wanted to come out so I can
- 43:08watch it. So I was like, what Ryan Gosling
- 43:10movies are there? And I realized I never saw The
- 43:13Nice Guys. Oh, yeah.
- 43:14And I can't remember a movie in recent memory that I laughed out
- 43:19loud as many times as I did in this fucking movie.
- 43:21This is a fucking great movie. He's very funny.
- 43:24Great, particularly. Yeah, mate, Russell Crowe is the
- 43:27straight man. You feel like you're going to
- 43:30watch this again? What?
- 43:32It's so good. Their banter.
- 43:36His banter with the daughter. Fucking Russell Crowe's banter
- 43:40with the daughter, it's all good.
- 43:42It's just so good. I don't remember too much about
- 43:45it to be honest. I remember it's a very funny
- 43:47scene where he's on the toilet with a cigarette and yeah, that
- 43:51being very funny. There's like 7 gags crammed into
- 43:54the space of like 10 seconds in that scene.
- 43:57Like. Like every watch that busts.
- 44:00Open and he's going to the toilet, he's trying to get his
- 44:02thing, his arms broken so it's in a cast.
- 44:03It's hilarious. He's got he's trying to get his
- 44:05fucking cigarette out and then he ends up fucking burning his
- 44:08Dick with it. It's it's fucking hilarious.
- 44:10It's hilarious. Yeah.
- 44:12Yeah. So good.
- 44:14So good. I need more.
- 44:15I need more like this. Yeah, right.
- 44:18But it's funny because it was almost.
- 44:19A spiritual successor to LA, not LA Noire, that's a that's a
- 44:23video game. What's the fucking cops and
- 44:28robbers movie where it's it's Russell Crowe and the other
- 44:37Aussie from neighbors. LA Confidential.
- 44:40Oh oh. Guy Pearce.
- 44:42Guy Pearce, yeah. Because that is a fucking
- 44:44terrific movie if no one's seen that.
- 44:46Not funny, not like this at all, but at least two or three, the
- 44:50yes, two or three, the cast double up and it's like LA is a
- 44:55character, you know. So it's like if you see all the
- 44:59all the landmarks. Yeah, but just reminded me of
- 45:03like, if somebody was like, we should remake that, but as a
- 45:06comedy, it would be this. Yeah.
- 45:11Could you. I gotta watch that again.
- 45:13Yeah. Nice guys.
- 45:14Yeah. It was funny.
- 45:15It was really funny. I.
- 45:17Wouldn't watch any. No Watch any.
- 45:18Movies this week? I don't think so.
- 45:19I'd watch the amount of bunch. Well, watch Sonic 2.
- 45:23With Lira. Oh yeah, we'll talk about that.
- 45:25Not as good as the first one. That's my basically my.
- 45:27Yeah, that's still good enough. Not the first one.
- 45:30Yeah, I watched 4 episodes of Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
- 45:36Oh, yes, because I realized that the, the new episodes were no,
- 45:40no, just wait. I realized the new episodes were
- 45:42out and I was like about to click on them and I'm like,
- 45:44like, it's been a while since I've watched any Always Sunny.
- 45:47You want to get in the I don't have to watch the new ones.
- 45:49Yeah, I don't want to kind of waste new material on a, on a
- 45:53stale brain. So I just, I just get back to
- 45:55Season 2 because I've watched season 1 a couple of times.
- 45:58So I just started with Bam Frank's.
- 45:59Oh, that's when Frank's in the episode.
- 46:01Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fucking hell, man.
- 46:03So fucking Dennis, he's so good. He's just psychopath.
- 46:08The season's pretty. Funny so far, Yeah.
- 46:10Actually, yeah. There's been a couple of really
- 46:12good episodes for fun. So yeah, OK.
- 46:13I'm looking forward. I won't, I won't watch all 15
- 46:16seasons on the way to this. I just wanted to wet my take you
- 46:19a while to get there. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:23Created by Rob Mack. He's done the name change.
- 46:27He has now. The weird thing it was, I feel
- 46:31he waited until he was quite famous.
- 46:33Before he did that, they played a whole song.
- 46:36Ryan. Ryan Cosley.
- 46:37Ryan Reynolds had a whole song made about how to pronounce his
- 46:41name. And I wonder if that just
- 46:42annoyed him. Yeah.
- 46:44I mean, if he could do what he wants.
- 46:45So it's just funny that he waited till now to.
- 46:48Yeah, change it. He's almost now that he's named
- 46:52the household name. Almost.
- 46:53Yeah. And now he's gone and changed
- 46:55it. That's so funny because he was
- 46:57at the start of we were watching Welcome to Wrexham as all the
- 47:02seasons of that and it it's in like he was in season 1 of
- 47:07Welcome to Wrexham when they're talking about how Ryan Gosling
- 47:09and that other guy have bought this the football team.
- 47:13And that's how it was for a long time.
- 47:14But I feel like now he's like, it's like Robin Ryan, they know
- 47:18who he is kind of thing. And it's like, yeah, definitely.
- 47:21I'll say this, back in Season 2, he is definitely the worst actor
- 47:26than anybody. And knowing now, I wondered why
- 47:30he wasn't as good. And it's like, well, it's his
- 47:33fucking show, mate. He creates it.
- 47:35He writes it. It was his idea to do the show.
- 47:37He's very funny. He's just not.
- 47:39Yeah, he's hilarious. Well, I guess it's like
- 47:41Seinfeld, like, sign Jerry Seinfeld, the man.
- 47:45Jerry Seinfeld was a terrible actor.
- 47:47Yeah. But you know, the show was great
- 47:49and he works in it. Yeah, yeah.
- 47:52And, and if you watch the bloopers, like Rob's always the
- 47:56one who laughs first. And I actually know they,
- 47:59they're all pretty bad, but he, well, it's because they just go
- 48:01fucking nuts, like and make shit up.
- 48:06Yeah, yeah. They do one take where they do
- 48:08it to the script exactly so that they have it.
- 48:11And then it's just like, do whatever you want.
- 48:13Yeah, Yeah. And then that's.
- 48:14Yeah. But yes.
- 48:17And he he did a video just for his I think maybe it was just on
- 48:20Instagram where he was like, I just want to address the
- 48:22rumours. Yes, I am changing my name to
- 48:23Rob Mack. No, I'm not going to justify it
- 48:25because it's none of your fucking business.
- 48:27Yeah, fair enough. And it's like, yeah, OK, cool.
- 48:30Yeah, yeah, yeah. But yeah.
- 48:32So this season, opening credits created by Rob Mack.
- 48:36OK, done. He it's an actual name change,
- 48:38right? Like he's not just having a
- 48:40legally place. He changed his name to Rob Mack.
- 48:44Are his kids now called Whatever Mac, or are they still
- 48:47Mcelhenny? You know what I don't know?
- 48:50Or are they also? He's not returning my calls.
- 48:53Yeah, he doesn't. He won't tell you.
- 48:54He's not a fucking businessman. I don't know who you are.
- 49:00I don't know how you got this number.
- 49:02I got it from Ryan. Reynolds Yeah, I didn't.
- 49:05I didn't, no. But they're good friends.
- 49:07Speaking of good friends who are also very, very funny, there's
- 49:11new Michelin web coming. Really saw this in here.
- 49:15In what context? Like a sketch show?
- 49:18Yeah. Fuck yeah.
- 49:21Just more sketches. Love that.
- 49:24Yes, love that. What's it going to be on?
- 49:26Do we know? Because we do know.
- 49:29It's all nontraditional now. Yeah.
- 49:31Yeah. I think they were on I.
- 49:34Don't know what channel they were on there.
- 49:35In it's a British channel, yeah, probably BBC Four, I don't know.
- 49:39Yeah, something like that. I was going to say I don't know
- 49:40them all, but. You, Mitchell and Webb's.
- 49:45Great news. Mitchell and Webb are not
- 49:48helping. Nice channel. 4.
- 49:51OK, I haven't lived. In the UK, except for two years
- 49:56when I was a kid. Is Channel 4 and BBC 4 the same
- 49:59or they're not? It's just Channel 4.
- 50:02I don't know. You also haven't lived there
- 50:03since the early 80s. She's there now.
- 50:05She lived there now? Yeah, she's back.
- 50:08And she was born there, I assume.
- 50:09Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, but I mean, she lived in.
- 50:13Australia for yeah, for 30 years time, Yeah, 30 years more than
- 50:17that. 40 years. Yeah, must be right.
- 50:21Yeah. Yeah, yes, she's back there now.
- 50:27Yeah. Alaska.
- 50:28Yeah. Where is she in London?
- 50:30No, she's up like basically where I was born up.
- 50:34She's in like rural up near Liverpool.
- 50:36Oh, OK, nice. Yeah, Nice, clear.
- 50:39Even closer actually, than I thought they were going to be.
- 50:41This. They were talking about going to
- 50:42living in Chester, right. Because Chester's just a cool
- 50:46place that we, when we've been back, we usually meet up there
- 50:49or whatever because it's a nice town.
- 50:50And but I, but also the whole point was that she wanted to be
- 50:54near her family and that's where that's my family's all up there.
- 50:57Yeah, right. And mate, I'd like if I moved to
- 51:00England, like, I just love to live in like one of those
- 51:02fucking like, Hot Fuzz towns, you know?
- 51:06Like, yeah, I really think the Cotswolds or somewhere would be
- 51:09a great place to live. I'm sure it's fucking expensive.
- 51:12But yeah, yeah, yeah, that'd be fucking nice if Jeremy Clarkson
- 51:20out there. Yeah, it can't be cheap.
- 51:23Annoyed him like everybody else, apparently.
- 51:25That's right. Yeah, you could buy his Ferrari.
- 51:30I'd love to buy his Ferrari. Well, it's for sale, man, so I
- 51:35can't buy his Ferrari. Get your cheque book out.
- 51:38Not just not just because I don't know the many reasons.
- 51:42Yeah, it's not the only liberty factor.
- 51:44Yeah. I'll, if I, if I do move there,
- 51:47I will have spent all my money on the House.
- 51:49Yeah. Yeah.
- 51:49It won't be like, yeah, OK. And now I'll just have, I'll
- 51:52spend a little Ferrari money as well.
- 51:54Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 51:55The backup funds that I don't have.
- 51:58I, I mean, I love Ferrari. That.
- 51:59I mean, I've got 2 Ferraris sitting right, right here made
- 52:02out of like, and actually only one, which means my daughter has
- 52:04been in here and moved my other Ferrari.
- 52:07I've got Aston Martin up. I've got Aston Martin I think is
- 52:13here somewhere. And here I've got the last of
- 52:15the V8 Interceptors 00. Do you?
- 52:18Oh, sick. That's what's in that little box
- 52:20there. And Lyra keeps asking me why is
- 52:21that car in a box? Oh, look at that.
- 52:24Yeah. Yeah.
- 52:25Is that Le Clair or Hamilton? What?
- 52:28What do you think? You see the you're seeing the
- 52:30fucking. I was about to say dreadlocks.
- 52:33They're not dreadlocks. What are they Cornrows?
- 52:36Yeah. Did you watch quali?
- 52:40No, I didn't watch. I just read Quali.
- 52:42Quali recaps. So yeah.
- 52:45Yeah. Yeah.
- 52:46Amazon's not doing so well. A bummer, yeah.
- 52:50Don't know what's going on there.
- 52:52Just not fit for the car. I guess not.
- 52:54That's what I'm saying. I mean, not, yeah, just, I mean,
- 52:56I don't mean he's not fit for the car.
- 52:57He doesn't. I mean, he doesn't.
- 52:58The car's not a good fit for him.
- 52:59Kind of, Yeah, Yeah. That's not what I meant.
- 53:02What I mean is that it's just obviously there's some guy
- 53:04Leclaire's on pole and Hamilton got ANK you once.
- 53:07So it's obviously something he's just not.
- 53:08Yeah, yeah, he's not jelling with the car or whatever, right,
- 53:10Because he's obviously he's a fucking great driver.
- 53:12So yeah, something's going on like the off looking.
- 53:16He's a fucking knight of the realm.
- 53:18Yeah, exactly. Yeah, he's one of the best
- 53:20drivers in the world and for some reason that car just
- 53:24doesn't work for him, doesn't suit him.
- 53:26Yeah. And which happens which like, I
- 53:29mean, if you if you only watch like NASCAR or stock car racing
- 53:32in general, like, and everyone's car's the same and you're like,
- 53:35and it's all just about the driver like you could, you could
- 53:38question that, but it's like, no, no, no.
- 53:40If if your car doesn't suit you, you're.
- 53:43You're fucked. And look at.
- 53:44I mean, look at. Red Bull, now they've had all
- 53:46this stuff going on, they can't seem to get the car right.
- 53:49Like, that's right. Like, yeah, what the fuck?
- 53:51Like Max won every race for like a year.
- 53:55It was like they just extended Max's body with some car, you
- 53:59know, wheels on him on Max. Yeah, Yeah.
- 54:03And then now, for whatever reason, yeah.
- 54:05Yeah. Well, also, yeah, I mean.
- 54:08And then you might ask, why do they even change it?
- 54:10Well, because that you have to change it because they change
- 54:12the rules every year and they changed.
- 54:13Well, that and McLaren keep winning now.
- 54:17So they're like, we've got to do something to make our car as
- 54:20fast as their car somehow. And so they try things and it's
- 54:23like, oh, we no, that didn't work, did it?
- 54:25Yeah, you can't. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:29Or, or it was too good. Now we're disqualified and have
- 54:31a huge fine to pay. Yeah.
- 54:34Yes. It was funny though, so.
- 54:36Everybody was shocked. So Leclerc got pole, right?
- 54:40Right. Like at the end there, he just
- 54:41fucking went to the top. And then all the commentators
- 54:43were like, what the fuck? And then and then they should
- 54:46play the radio message where Charles finished the lap.
- 54:49And then his engineer was like, that's P1.
- 54:51And Charles was like, what? So like, even he was.
- 54:56Like OK, yeah, love it so. Good as well I.
- 55:00Love Charles Leclerc. He's a he's a bad ass.
- 55:03He deserves it. Yeah, I mean he.
- 55:06Doesn't he was born incredibly wealthy?
- 55:08Like he does not need the money. Born and raised in fucking
- 55:12Monaco. He's fine.
- 55:14Yeah. And Monte.
- 55:15Carlo. He's fine.
- 55:20Speaking of a man who drives a very nice car that we've
- 55:24mentioned already in this episode.
- 55:26Batman. Bruce.
- 55:28Batman, his name is. Yeah, he's he's back.
- 55:32The ones we like the best. I I think it's still fair for me
- 55:36to say that, at least about myself.
- 55:38I mean, this says this is my Batman.
- 55:40They are my Batman movies. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 55:45Back in cinemas. Fuck yes.
- 55:47Just for a very brief run, Batman and Batman Returns.
- 55:50The Tim Burton ones will be back in theaters.
- 55:54I think it says only AMC, which is a bummer.
- 55:56He's not one of those close enough to me that I could
- 56:00reasonably go see these because I would go see these.
- 56:03Yeah, yeah. The new 4K UHD release, which
- 56:10I've realized I don't think I have those, so I might have to
- 56:12get them. Yeah, I was.
- 56:13I was about to say I'm also interested in in that so.
- 56:17Because I really I. I honestly I just fucking love
- 56:20these movies. I've said this a million times
- 56:22before, but Batman is the movie that made me interested in
- 56:26movies in that I watched, went and saw the movie with my dad
- 56:30and I was like, that was fucking awesome.
- 56:32And then I watched all the behind the scenes stuff and I
- 56:34just absorbed and I'm like, oh, that guy's the director.
- 56:36Oh, that guy does this, That guy does that.
- 56:38And I just that's how I learned. And that book Batman, I've got
- 56:41it on the show, the Batman, the movie book.
- 56:43I was like the annual. I need to know everything about
- 56:46this. How did they make this kind of
- 56:48thing? When you saw the the moral of
- 56:51the street scene, you know, with the balloons and all that,
- 56:54you're like, fuck Canal. Yeah, as as a kid, I was just
- 56:56like, I want to do that. And then I think I learned, no,
- 57:01I don't want to. Yeah.
- 57:02Yeah. By participating in that
- 57:04industry, you'll learn that that is a shit hole of an industry.
- 57:06It's just very stressful in a way that I'm just not interested
- 57:09in. Yeah.
- 57:11It's more, it's much more enjoyable to watch the movies
- 57:14than it is to participate in the making of the movie.
- 57:16Or I think if you're in a specific role, it probably is
- 57:20very fun. Like, yeah.
- 57:21But I think it's probably also not because I think I'll be the
- 57:23director to be fun. Probably isn't.
- 57:25Yeah, it's probably fucking stressful.
- 57:26I'm sure you'd know. Like decided he didn't want to
- 57:29be Batman anymore, even though they said he could write and
- 57:31direct it. Yeah, look at all the photos of
- 57:33him, like Offset when he was Batman.
- 57:36Just fucking just here being like, get Get Me Out of this.
- 57:40Like, it doesn't look very fun. Watch Lost in La Mancha, the
- 57:44documentary about the making the first time they tried to make
- 57:48Terry Gilliam's Don Quixote movie, and just fucking
- 57:52everything going wrong. They finally, finally get the
- 57:55sets up and they fucking blow away into the desert.
- 57:58Like, you know, they finally get the star in and he's got fucking
- 58:01hemorrhoids and he has to go home.
- 58:02Like just. It's just.
- 58:04It's not, it's just. What's?
- 58:07That. Movie I.
- 58:08Think it's a Verna Verna Herzog or one of those German
- 58:11directors. The one about the the ship where
- 58:13they they carry the ship over land is it?
- 58:17That's the one about the the crazy guy who tried to get sail
- 58:23across South America up the river.
- 58:27And yeah, Fitzgerald, yeah, I think.
- 58:29There was think of the same one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:32And there's that story about how one of the actors was like, I
- 58:34don't want to do this anymore. And he literally pulled the gun
- 58:36on him and he was like, do the fucking scene.
- 58:38Yeah. He was like, stand the director.
- 58:40And I think that was, I think that was going Klaus Kinski.
- 58:43Yeah. Klaus Kinski who's like quite a
- 58:45famous actor in in Germany as well.
- 58:47Like just yeah, yeah. He literally had a guy at some
- 58:49point do the fucking scene or I will shoot you.
- 58:52Yeah. Yeah, and it's.
- 58:53Like Jesus Christ. Fucking maniac and very
- 58:57entertaining. Yeah.
- 59:00Yeah, have you seen him eat in? That show, have you seen the
- 59:01clip of him eat in that shoe? He made some.
- 59:06Comment he made some comment about some other actor or some
- 59:10movie and he was like, and if that fucking if this movie sells
- 59:13even 1 ticket, I'm going to eat my shoe.
- 59:15And then it was a hit. And then and so he had to get up
- 59:19at Cannes and literally eat his shoe.
- 59:21Oh God, that's funny. Oh, speaking.
- 59:26Of so Danny Hoffman, obviously that's my it was my introduction
- 59:29to film music, which I've gone on to absolutely love film music
- 59:32and Danny Hoffman in particular. He did Batman and he's he did.
- 59:37I learned the the new, the Dracula.
- 59:40The not, not, not Ferratu. The Luke Basant Dracula is Danny
- 59:44Hoffman. So the score of that.
- 59:46Fuck, man. I wonder.
- 59:47He's been waiting to do Dracula since he was six years old, I
- 59:50reckon. I wonder if I'll like this more
- 59:51than I like Nosferatu, to be honest.
- 59:54Nosferatu was beautiful, Yeah. And and that's it.
- 59:58I agree, but I did not enjoy it. I got bored, wanted to enjoy it
- 1:00:02so badly and I didn't. I enjoyed it until he came to
- 1:00:08London. Was it?
- 1:00:09No, it wasn't. Was it London in this one?
- 1:00:10It was Germany. Yeah.
- 1:00:12Yeah. Now I will say that's also just
- 1:00:17the fault of Dracula, if you're book accurate, because the book
- 1:00:20is the same. It's not London.
- 1:00:22The book's the South of England, but they he gets.
- 1:00:25It's fucking intense in fucking Transylvania and Harkins and the
- 1:00:28castle and the wild. That whole sequence in last
- 1:00:31Friday was great. Yeah.
- 1:00:32Yeah. But you could even say that
- 1:00:33about the Universal Dracula 1930.
- 1:00:35Like that whole opening sequence is fucking great.
- 1:00:39And then he goes to London and it's just people in rooms
- 1:00:41talking. Yeah.
- 1:00:44I think Coppola did a great job of not having that.
- 1:00:48I really like them. Jenna hates that movie, but I
- 1:00:50really like it. No, I like it too, I think.
- 1:00:52Yeah. Yeah, I.
- 1:00:55Don't. Maybe because I saw.
- 1:00:55It when I was a kid and I. Man, I ate that.
- 1:00:58Shit up. Same as Batman.
- 1:01:00Like, remember when we were 9? Batman was everywhere.
- 1:01:03Yeah. Just a fucking yellow and black
- 1:01:07Insignia on anything. And I wanted it was on a
- 1:01:10toothbrush. I want it was on a beach towel.
- 1:01:12I want. I'll have brushed my teeth all
- 1:01:13of a sudden. Yeah, that's right.
- 1:01:16I had this fucking so for kids are funny.
- 1:01:18I had this badge, you know like AI guess in America they call
- 1:01:21them pins, right? Fucking batch.
- 1:01:23Yeah yeah, yeah, just black bat symbol on it, right?
- 1:01:28Yeah, fucking loved it. Used to wear it right here
- 1:01:31because I just wasn't your heart.
- 1:01:33I just wasn't ballsy enough to wear it in the middle right.
- 1:01:40If I was alone, I'd move it into the middle and be like fucking
- 1:01:43I'm Batman, I'm Batman. But if I went out anywhere, I
- 1:01:45was like, I just like Batman. Someone asked me the other.
- 1:01:49Week because I was I was going about how much I enjoyed
- 1:01:53Superman. I've seen Superman twice now
- 1:01:55yeah and I really enjoyed it and then someone was like oh do you
- 1:01:59like Superman? And I was like, let me I've been
- 1:02:02reminded that I like Superman by yes, yes, because the thumbnail
- 1:02:07for the episode the other week is that is a photo of me listers
- 1:02:11slash watches. If you're wondering, that is
- 1:02:13literally a photo of me when I was a kid dressed as Superman.
- 1:02:18And some some really nice some really nice tights.
- 1:02:21My mum made this like that Superman costume.
- 1:02:23Yeah, amazing, amazing. Somewhere I've got a Batman
- 1:02:28picture almost identical as that the same film grain.
- 1:02:31I mean, I was I was Batman in a film we made if you 2 films we
- 1:02:36made technically, I mean, depending who you ask, some
- 1:02:39people think we were in Batman in in The Dark Knight Rises.
- 1:02:42So you, like, punch me in the Dick?
- 1:02:49Someone actually thought we were in the movie.
- 1:02:51We did a good job of that trouble.
- 1:02:52I love that. I love that.
- 1:02:54I wish I was. I know We should have just not
- 1:02:57said anything. Yeah.
