- 0:00[SPEAKER_04]: Welcome to another edition of the Social Fruit Podcast.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_04]: If I didn't say it before, I'm going to say it again.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_04]: Welcome to another edition of the Social Fruit Podcast.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_04]: It's a very special episode because this week, I was letting everybody know that I, unfortunately, am going out of business.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of funny though because when I made that post,
- 0:24[SPEAKER_04]: The engagement was insane.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_04]: If I had said, I'm launching a new business.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_04]: I've been no engagement about it.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_04]: Good for you.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_04]: But I am going out of business, but I'm not poor.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_04]: And because I didn't want the doctor to do more.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_04]: Like, hey, my cows have been frozen.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_04]: Send me a casher.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_04]: It wasn't that.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just saying, there are certain things that did not work for me.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_04]: And I, Dave, your hypocrite, coaching everybody in the hot seat, you need to be in the hot seat.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_04]: First off, I do need to be in the hot seat, especially for the level that I'm going.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_04]: But I am going out of business for the businesses that cannot scale to a hundred million dollars in revenue, but also if I can't
- 1:10[SPEAKER_04]: truly impact millions of people.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_04]: Those things are going on.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_04]: I've been a T-shirt salesperson for years.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_04]: So I got merch and every now and again I'm print and sell merch while print a thirty dollar book and we're going to be a vendor at the events and I'm going to set up a vendor table at the back of wherever I go speak at.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_04]: I'm
- 1:31[SPEAKER_04]: not doing that anymore.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_04]: So I am going out of business of being a low ticket income lifestyle entrepreneur.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_04]: I am looking to make a big splash and all of my focus, all of my attention is focused on one thing, creating major impact.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_04]: So I've been advice on friends all in today who think a lot bigger than I do.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_04]: And I think when I was working at the cheesecake factory, my as big as I can see it was making six figures as an entrepreneur and who knows what six figures is.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_04]: But my goal is like to make a hundred thousand dollars and be able to get into the club for free because in the city on pop at major goals for me.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_04]: And as I was able to quit my job and start selling more T-shirts, both those things actually happened, but then I'll realize
- 2:28[SPEAKER_04]: This hundred thousand dollars that I'm making as an entrepreneurship manure isn't really a hundred thousand dollars because I don't get to keep all of the money and it cost me a lot to make the hundred thousand dollars and if I wanted to make two hundred thousand dollars I literally have to do double the work I did for the first hundred thousand dollars and I did get into a lot of clubs for free so that worked in the city people recognize in my name
- 2:52[SPEAKER_04]: But then I started having conversations as of late with people who have a much bigger view on impact.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_04]: I believe I have failed as an entrepreneur because I know I have bigger potential.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_04]: I have a huge network.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_04]: People that like me, I put in a whole bunch of work and the numbers that I've been putting up are well below what I can perform.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_04]: If someone has the ability to drop fifty points a night and they drop twenty five every single night, I believe that's a failure.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_04]: You failed.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_04]: Now somebody might look at and say, oh my gosh, which I've been twenty-five and a year successful.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_04]: Well, that's your view, but I know I can do more.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_04]: We are going to a whole another level and for me to do that, I have to grow and for me to grow, I have to get around people who are building things that impact the world and lots and lots and lots of people at a time.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_04]: I'm putting out this out there out.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm selling off all of my T-shirts, I'm selling off all of my books.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_04]: We're doing a sale in a week or so where everything's seventy percent off and I got a bunch of stuff where I was thinking about little services that I can offer people.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_04]: I'm selling all that stuff because I am going in a bigger direction.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not doing events and making an offer.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_04]: I don't see myself doing any masterminds in the next foreseeable future.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_04]: I don't see myself selling courses or anything like that.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_04]: Nothing wrong with it because this is
- 4:31[SPEAKER_04]: what you need to impact a group of people.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_04]: Man imagine, impacting thousands of people.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_04]: We have a community of people in our my son figure podcast community where I get to meet with them every single week and there's a program put together.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_04]: I'm doing that because it's leading to something bigger but I want to invite my friends to the show people have impacted me in major ways and I want to start with.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_04]: So Isaac Hayes, a fan base.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_04]: What's up man?
- 5:01[SPEAKER_04]: I use you as an example a lot.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: You do?
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: I've been using using an example on that.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_04]: Let me tell you this example.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_04]: When we talk about focus, you are an example of that.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_04]: So when I wake up in the morning, I think of, all right, I need to create content.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_04]: I'm creating content for other people.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_04]: Teaching people by casting.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_04]: Teaching people on entrepreneurship.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_04]: I may have a community of people like a mastermind.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_04]: I have this really good idea.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_04]: We're actually for the last few months.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_04]: I hired someone specifically to go get me speaking gaze because I want to be a speaker.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_04]: But I know that when you wake up in the morning, there's one word on your mind.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_04]: And that's family.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: Wonderful.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I have it.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think it
- 5:50[SPEAKER_02]: It keeps things simple for me.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I don't have a lot to to to think about.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I wear the same clothes every time you see me.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: I have the same clothes on.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: I have a t-shirt pair of jeans and some Air Max nineties or her ratchies on it.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: It makes life simpler.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: I shave my head bald.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have to get haircuts.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_02]: I pretty much eat the same thing every day almost, so it just makes it, it keeps it right on task and it makes what we're building together a lot more efficient and impactful.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_04]: So for those that don't know, tell us about some of the accomplishments of where we're at in business for families.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: So fan base is now the lower one point four million users.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: We've hired twenty new people since February.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: We're in the middle of our fourth equity crowd fund raise, which is a seventeen million dollar raise and we're almost at about thirteen million dollars raised in total of raise about twenty three million dollars and five years for the company.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: And we have a lot of other
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: You know, where focus on retention, retention is kind of like the only thing that matters in social when you're really just taking everything away is like when people come on your platform, what keeps them there and keeps them there for a long time, what their interests are.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: So that's been our focus for Q-two and Q-three and going into Q-four.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_04]: How many employees do you have total?
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: Probably about forty.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_04]: for the employees.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_04]: That's impact.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_04]: Goodness gracious.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_04]: And twenty-three million raise.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I think of?
- 7:34[SPEAKER_04]: And this is just incredible when I appreciate this conversation because it's helping me with the thing I can see off is to talk to you about.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_04]: When I somebody was talking to me about the business and I'm calculating
- 7:47[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, how much is going to cost to get a website or at and you know, if I'm going to come on, you know, some sort of marketing campaign what my strategy is and then I just go to my bank account and I'm like, all right, well, do I have enough money for this?
- 8:00[SPEAKER_04]: Because I traditionally don't think involvement of other people until I got it.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_04]: I could just go to myself, right?
- 8:10[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm changing the way I think because you have how many investors?
- 8:16[SPEAKER_02]: Twenty, twenty, three thousand.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_04]: Twenty, three thousand investors.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_04]: It's incredible.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_04]: So it's reshaping how out there.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_04]: I totally, I don't want a hundred percent understand it just yet, but I know as on watching some of these interviews of like tech founders and things that I nature.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_04]: I was watching a wide-combinator at YouTube channel and they said, if you're going to build a tech company, you need to have a CTO.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_04]: That needs to be the first hire.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_04]: have someone there who understands that part.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm reshaping my mind because again, I come from a twenty five dollar t-shirt sale.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_04]: A ninety seven dollar a month membership or you know what I mean?
- 8:58[SPEAKER_04]: Like you can't really solve a huge worldwide problem that way.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_04]: So you are solving a problem and I'm sure we're going to get into it.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_04]: And then my brother who just dropped
- 9:10[SPEAKER_04]: his new book take a deep breath and remember who the you are.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_04]: figure and you're both going to have a title like this.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_04]: It's been a long and cut.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_04]: There's good deals very best to keep it clean today.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_04]: One of the owners of, I've got a bunch of stuff going on, right?
- 9:32[SPEAKER_04]: The last one I spoke at was together land.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_04]: Together land doesn't Dallas, right?
- 9:39[SPEAKER_04]: One music fest, largest music festival that I've ever seen in my life, see if you can out with some of the
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm good, brother.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for having me for this collective mindset.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: So to introduce yourself, tell people about... Steve can now co-founder of One Venture Group.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Under One Venture Group, we have One Music Fest.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: We have Togetherland.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: We have She's Got Time.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: We have the Black Promotors Collective.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: We also have the agency side as well.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_04]: But it sounds like those are all events, right?
- 10:14[SPEAKER_04]: You do large-scale events.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: That's part of it.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: So we are a media and entertainment company, right?
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: So within that on the agency side, so everything we do for ourselves, we do for our clients.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: So we work with Proctor and Gamble, we work with Foot Locker, we work with Major League Soccer, and for plus other brands, Home Depot, Ducati.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: Within that, we offer different services for each.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: We're not cookie cutters.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: So depending on what that brand or that company needs,
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we do everything in house, right?
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: So whether it's media buying, strategy, programmatic, we have tools we've invested, you know, six, you know.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: Six hundred thousand into tools to find an audience, retarget target.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: We can find who that brand needs.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: When we talk about media buying and having IP intellectual property, a partner like a proctor and gamble,
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: can invest into one music fest and be a title sponsor for that.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: And we also develop a ten city tour that concept, strategy, fabrication, we do it all, right?
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: So we build a tour and we actually negotiate with the schools and we take the tour across the country for them.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: So they reach their audience in two different ways.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: They can come into our world or we can build for them to reach an audience for them as well.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_04]: That's strong.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_04]: For one music festival, I believe people would typically come.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: A hundred thousand.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: A hundred thousand people that we have at one music festival, Peemont Park, largest green space.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: And it's fun, right?
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: We call it a cultural homecoming, right?
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: We started with twenty five hundred people in the parking lot to grow into a hundred thousand people at Peemont Park.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_04]: That was you saw, did you see that many people at a festival?
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know, with the first one, you know, consistency is key.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: We had a foundation, we knew who we were and what we wanted to offer our community and culture, right?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: And with that, the possibilities are endless, right?
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: So we started it in that space, but we always had a vision of growing and getting bigger and bigger and bigger.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: Right, being in Atlanta, Atlanta is a unique, unique place.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: And Isaac, you know, Hey, he's always talks about this, you know, coming to Atlanta.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's different from anywhere else.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: I've been to every state in the country.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: I've produced events in every state North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, everywhere Utah.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: been everywhere, right?
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I see the clear cut difference in Atlanta.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: The support system here, the community here, you have access like nowhere else, right?
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: We grew up with the mayor, right?
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: And that's not normal, right?
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: So being able to have access to these things to be able to see a possibility where the first black owned
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: festival to sell out at Pmont Park, right?
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: To have that, you know, that support from the community and, you know, economic, you know, give back, sixty-eight million, you know, black economic, you know, impact that we have for the city, like that means something to us, right?
- 13:25[SPEAKER_04]: Being able to... Oh, sixty-eight million.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_04]: There's almost sixty-eight million dollars.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's the density, the flow through the city just from one music festival.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: When you think about all the vendors, when you think about all the jobs that are created,
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: When you think about the opportunity for people to enjoy that platform within Pmont Park, they're tapping into vendors, corporate partners, just community impact hotels, restaurants.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: When you think about it all, Uber's tips on Uber, all that is being impacted through one music festival.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: for us, our vision was always to give back to culture and give back to the city.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's always been embracing to us.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_04]: That's why I ask you all to come here because someone that's gonna like launch their book or their new headline or I'm gonna start, I don't know, a community and we're gonna charge them for nine dollars a month and I'm put some courses together and we're gonna sell like you don't, you can't impact a city in that way.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_04]: You can help some people.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_04]: y'all I'm not knocking this because this this is me I'm just helping you all see in real time that I am wanting something different and I want to change in industry not my own income so I'm gonna take some shots today for the entrepreneur that's simply thinking too small so
- 14:57[SPEAKER_04]: When you think of an entrepreneur and they come to you and say, you know, I'm working my job and I got this little business, I had this idea and I need to get to six thousand dollars a month in business, right?
- 15:08[SPEAKER_04]: We know that entrepreneur, right?
- 15:12[SPEAKER_04]: If you were their coach, you were their mentor, what are some of the first things you would say to them?
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, what's the goal?
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: If I was talking to them, what do you want?
- 15:20[SPEAKER_02]: Like what's the vision you have?
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: Because of vision, make the vision big.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: If you're a visionary, then have a big vision.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: Because then, you're not limiting yourself on what you think you can accomplish.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_04]: Let's talk about creating a big vision though.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_04]: What does that mean?
- 15:37[SPEAKER_02]: Just, okay, so back to what he just said.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_02]: and I'm talking about Atlanta briefly, but, and I said this before, Atlanta allows you to dream bigger than most, right?
- 15:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think how we, how the earth sits just in the right spot, if we were Venus, we'd be too hot, if we were Mars, we'd be too cold, it's just right.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_02]: Atlanta sits in that perfect ecosystem that's space for black people that they can envision and build big things and actually accomplish those things.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: So we have some of the biggest
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: visionaries that are black to come out of Atlanta like the town of Paris and the Will Packers and everybody that's just building businesses one music fest fan base what you're doing everybody just like and everybody at some point I don't care where you are probably said the idea is stupid so whenever they were doing it like yeah you know I think I think a little when they got I remember so fusion and all those things all you got y'all y'all the party from all just stay there
- 16:37[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, nah, but if we do more, we can do more, we can do more.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: So one, you got to kind of clear out the clutter.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: If anybody's around you just telling you you can't do something, get away from them.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: Move those people out of the way.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_02]: Get the haters out of the way.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_02]: And not even the haters just doubters, because some people hate some people doubt.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: Get those doubters out of your way.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: And then figure out, like, what are you willing to sacrifice to accomplish what you want to sacrifice?
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, what you want to achieve.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_04]: So even, I think there's some people that you love that mean well.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_04]: that you also have to eliminate for seasons because even though they love you, the conversations are so small.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_04]: I remember being that the thing I was just saying, I remember sitting in my living room, talking to my friend.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_04]: I think it was my man died out in LA.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_04]: And we were talking about the vision of this sleepers for circus T-shirt brand.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_04]: And I remember it like it was yesterday.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_04]: He was like, yeah, we're going to go.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_04]: I remember it.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_04]: And I remember as being excited, like, yo, we bought the lid out here.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_04]: But those, imagine replacing that room with another room where they're saying, yo, we gotta come up with a strategy to make a hundred million dollars.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_04]: There's a different conversation.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_04]: And though that conversation, they mean well,
- 18:05[SPEAKER_04]: And it's not a bad thing, but if you want to go to the next level, you have to really analyze the circle.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_04]: So when you say sixty million dollars an impact in a city, it's like, how can I, how can I do that?
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, to add to that though, I think we also have to think of the foundation and understand why people think like that, right?
- 18:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's why these platforms are important, right?
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: Just think about just the family structure, right?
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: My family came here from Haiti.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: what did they know, right?
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: Coming from Haiti, you know, living, you know, modestly, you know, living mansions, they didn't have corporate jobs, right?
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: Their vision was coming to the states to give us a better opportunity at life.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: And what they knew was, all right, you can become a doctor, you can become a lawyer, you're gonna work, a nine to five, right?
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: And they're gonna work two jobs to put food on our plate and put clothes on our backs.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: Our white counterparts, their parents are executives at big Fortune five hundred companies.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're working corporate.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: They can see what this potentially can be, right?
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: Where majority of us don't have that.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: So our mindset is what we see.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_00]: We see these videos.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I want.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: I want, you know, BT after dark.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be at the pool.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: I want all these women naked and I want to be partying.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's the mindset.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: I want to get the watch, the cars with the big rims.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's mindset.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: The reason why our mindset
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: not drastically, but it's shifting a little bit and you're seeing more wealth and you're seeing more opportunity.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: Think about Jay-Z, like these are first-time millionaires.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying blue and his kids are going to be able to live off that and see bigger and it's going to continue to grow, right?
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: But for us, that's why this platform is important because we have to share.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's why our right books.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_00]: I was fortunate enough to have a Damon John, a two-chains, a Barbara Corcoran, and all these people that actually poured into me and shared insights and information.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: So I wrote the mind of a winner so you could be a fly on the wall to hear their failures, how they overcame, and how they, you know,
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: They had success over time.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't just one time.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: They had consistency.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to share those insights.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: So I gave the book out when I go to colleges.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm making sure students have it because I have to do my part because I got that information.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: But to look at our community and they'd be like, oh, I think it's not big enough.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's not their fault.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_00]: That's what they know.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: And when we think like that, we're doing ourselves at the service.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 20:44[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's real.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: When people can't visualize, pass their own circumstances, it is that kind of lead in the jar with the flea and you take the lead off and you can jump as high as you want.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: And so again, the examples that I had
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: living in this city were not the stereotypical examples of what success is like.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: I father came from the music business, but he moved to a city where they were doctors and lawyers that were had as much money as he did if not more.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: They were people in construction.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like you're saying, I build buildings, you know what I'm saying?
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a dentist.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: I get it.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: He plays basketball, right?
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: But I own real estate.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_02]: And so now it's like, OK, I can do that.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_02]: Because stereotypically, black people are like, I'm going to get up the hood by wrapping, singing, hooping, something like that.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: But now we have examples of, you know, you are a mega festival.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like, there's probably as young black people right now say, I don't make
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: They don't, they want music festival.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_02]: When we're doing, I'm going to do the investment for our generation.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to do the next fan base.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be like Tyler Perry or whatever.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be like all these people that we've seen, you know, scale our businesses.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: One thing for me, when I'm talking about, when I think about big vision though, I've been, I take two things that's very honest about.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: One,
- 22:07[SPEAKER_02]: if I were white or another race, I would have not built fan base.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_02]: Number one.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: Because I know that the advantage that I have over all of the tech is the culture.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: And so we know what powers, we know what powers technology and social media is black culture and then they can't make that.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: So that's one part.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: Two, I would not have built an app if I did not think that it could scale to hundreds of billions of dollars.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: And the reason we were talking earlier about
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: billions, hundreds of billions.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: And the reason why I said that is because we say we make it about money.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_02]: All of this is very, very political for me.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: And what I mean by that is, all of this started before fan base there was, oh, Atlanta might lose its election and not have a black mayor.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, well, how do we get mayor's in office?
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they got a campaign and they got to raise money.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, cool, but all right, so how do you, how do you raise capital?
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they're usually funded by particular people that fund them.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: So when, when Manard, the cool thing about what Manard Jackson did with the joint venture contract system was when he set that system up,
- 23:16[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the Mac Willborns and the A.J.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_02]: Russell companies, they weren't prepared to be able to take advantage of the legislation he put in place.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_02]: So people like Shirley Franklin taught them, this is what you just got to get you.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_02]: This is how you got to qualify for this.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: Mac, this is how you got to qualify for that.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: Then they put them on and made them millionaires.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_02]: Now, guess who's funding the political campaigns?
- 23:37[SPEAKER_02]: Mac.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: in Herman.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_02]: So you have to build that infrastructure where you're able to fund candidates.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_02]: Because I say like Elon bought a whole app so he could get starting contracts and Tesla contracts and went into election.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: He bought his agenda.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I mean by that is like you literally buy your agenda.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: We think it's voting and it's voting.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: But there's people that walk in rooms and click checks and say when you get elected, I need you to do this, this, this and this on a high level.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_02]: Not okay taxes and all these other things.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_02]: No, I need you to deregulate this.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't have to pay this amount of tax.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_02]: So I can keep another, you know, ten billion dollars a year for myself.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: And so with the Black community, we are not building businesses that create enough wealth for us to buy our candidates.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: So for me, I'm trying to be funny, but that's really what it is.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, elections cost and you have to be able to do that.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: And the reason why I say that is in this city, I've just seen firsthand that when you can buy an agenda, you can change laws, you can create it so that
- 24:43[SPEAKER_02]: Black people can have an opportunity to have economic equality and businesses that they don't.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: Meaning, if Atlanta had always had a white mayor, they don't have to give them a permit to have their festival.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like, no, I'll take your festival to the Southside.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: Take their shit to Southfulton.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_02]: Take that stuff out of Atlanta.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: You're not going to have a festival here.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_02]: You're not going to build a record company here.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: You're not going to build it.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: We're not going to let you build a movie studio in the middle of this city.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: A black man that's three times as big as any movie studio Hollywood.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: So the politics matter.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_02]: So for me, fan base has always been the ability to create wealth.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: And then not for myself, not individual success, which is why I use equity crowdfunding because if I can make myself rich, but also make you rich and you rich, then we can all fund whatever can is we want to fund.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_02]: We could take, we could take this and like, yo, he could go to New Orleans, he could go wherever and say, okay, I'm gonna go down there, help this guy run for mayor.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna put the governor, I'm gonna get the first black governor in Louisiana down here.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_02]: And so that's how big we have to start thinking.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_04]: I'm thinking if I'm being honest, I know your approach and I know you love your community.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_04]: I'm thinking we're going to compete with FanBit.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_04]: We're going to build FanBit to compete with these other platforms because there's not a platform built by us.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_04]: But as you start explaining a political agenda,
- 26:00[SPEAKER_04]: I, that expands my mind even more like a man.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_04]: There's a bigger play here.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_02]: We're seeing what we're seeing right now in real time.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: What I mean is like a year ago, we were arguing over whether or not Kamala Harris is black or not.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_02]: No, just real talk.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_02]: We were saying this.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: She had black ones.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: She's not black.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_02]: Today, we have DC that's militarized running up on young black people, stopping frisk and doing that kind of stuff.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: Three hundred thousand women have lost their jobs.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: They're trying to remove slavery under the Smithsonian.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_02]: They're doing all this stuff.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: And all that stuff has to do with who paid to put that person to do that.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_02]: Project twenty twenty five was bought and paid for.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_02]: These ones saying so we can't we can't
- 26:41[SPEAKER_02]: by and pay for our own agenda, there's no way out of this.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_02]: And so again, I said this not too long ago and again, I love, I am happy for you and you and all the individual success that we all have accomplished, but I made it so you can make it two days is over with.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's gotta be, it's gotta be collaboration.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody got to come up together.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm happy that Jason's a billionaire and Tyler Perry and all that, but they need to be trying to make twenty-five more.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: And if they're not in the room saying, what can we invest in?
- 27:14[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to create another twenty five thirty five billionaires.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_02]: That is a problem.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_02]: We cannot compete with each other any longer.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_02]: We have to put our resources together and be like, all right, cool.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's why it's only so valuable.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: a soft drink company can get.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: So I can build the best soft drink coming in the world and Coca-Cola could acquire it.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_02]: But I know that if I can build something that's worth hundreds of billions of dollars and I have a path to do it.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm doing the math.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, sixty sixty nine percent of sixty percent of Africa is under the age of twenty nine.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: And they're not even on the internet yet.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_02]: They can't really afford.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_02]: Their internet is like daytime minutes right now for them.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: When they get the internet, it's going to be two billion people on the internet.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's two billion billion people of color.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to be on the internet.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_02]: Plus African-American people.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: So the ability to control infrastructure and technology when that happens, then boom, we got a chance to really scale it up.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: But my point is, is that if I know that that bite dances is a three hundred billion dollar company.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm sorry, bite dances is a four hundred billion dollar company.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_02]: Facebook Meta has a market cap of one point nine trillion dollars with a T. So so again, I said this before Coca-Cola came out in the late eighteen hundreds.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's two thousand twenty five.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: They're four hundred nothing.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: They're three hundred billion other company.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: So in a two hundred years they've gotten to three hundred by a billion valuation.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: Facebook came out twenty five years ago and they're one point nine trillion not a company in twenty five years.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: and it's all tech.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm thinking about what's the fastest way to grow wealth, technology?
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, what can black people do to get into the tech space and having advantage over any other people?
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: Not the coding, not the marketing, not the money, it's the culture.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: What makes social media work?
- 28:56[SPEAKER_02]: Black people.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: So we build the infrastructure, we invest it, scale it up, go public.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody else around the world, and in the country, whether you're white, black, or that knows that black people run social media by culture, you can invest in it too, and we run it up, and we go public, or we exit, and we take that money, and then we go by agendas.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_00]: Well said, Steve, yeah, obviously, you know, it's a gender-driven, you know, to not have that be successful.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a mindset, right?
- 29:25[SPEAKER_00]: Why wouldn't you just join the platform, understanding the power of social media, right?
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: Why wouldn't all people of color just join fan base?
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: Just because just getting the count, right?
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: Just getting the count, sign up and understand how life works.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: understand how agendas work and understand the power of technology and tools, especially when you own.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_00]: You have to have, you have to own, right, to be able to scale and get to what you're talking about, right, for that mindset.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_00]: But going to that person who wants to make six thousand dollars a month, like if you're in corporate, like for me, I coined the term corporatepreneur.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_00]: I was in corporate, but I went to corporate for a reason.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_00]: I went to corporate to learn how to run a billion dollar company.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_00]: to understand the importance of infrastructure and how it worked, how the machine worked, the mindset, right?
- 30:17[SPEAKER_00]: That was my PhD in my master's was going to corporate for the time that I went.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_00]: I was still an entrepreneur.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_00]: And during that time, I used the machine to raise my funds, my paycheck to fund what I was doing.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_00]: But also the mindset, the resources and the relationships and understanding how that machine worked,
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm able to apply to what we do today.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we're able to have multiple IP.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's like being in corporate and having six different soda flavors or six different brands, right?
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, six different brands.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to mention their names, right?
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: Six different brands, but you have to know how that machine works.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a monolith.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: You can't market them all the same.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_00]: They're all speaking to a different audience.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: They all have a different avatar.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: So you have to understand how to create programming and strategy and have the right people to be able to make those machines work, right?
- 31:11[SPEAKER_00]: So for that person, why you're working that corporate job, getting that paycheck, save your money, you working nine to five, and then from six to whatever, you gotta work on your business as well, right?
- 31:24[SPEAKER_04]: The biggest thinker that you've ever met and someone who's had a major impact on you, right?
- 31:31[SPEAKER_04]: Because I recently again had a conversation with Dr. Benjamin Hardy which it's just a big thinker and it's just changed my life with that particular conversation.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_04]: I always share that but I can think of just people throughout my life, would they say something
- 31:48[SPEAKER_04]: And it's so big that I don't understand it.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_04]: And they look at me like what I'm doing this small.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_04]: And I remember thinking like, yeah, this is like, hey, don't be real like, come on now.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_04]: I'm about to, I'm about to really crush it.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_04]: But I just came across these people in my life.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_04]: So give me one person you think is like the biggest thinker that you met and tell me a little bit about the conversations you ever had.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_00]: Well, mine's gonna be a little bit different because it's how it's set the path of who I am today, right?
- 32:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be remiss if I didn't.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_00]: One, just my mother and my father leaving everything that they've had in Haiti to come to the States.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_00]: And some people may like, well, they left Haiti, but people won't understand the resources in the wealth that's in Haiti.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_00]: First and foremost, but think about you're leaving family, you're leaving everything you know to start something new, right?
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: and put all of your energy, all of your thoughts, put fear aside to say, I'm going to do this because I know it's going to create an opportunity for the next generation, which is myself, my sisters, my brother, to be able to have that mindset to know like fear, put it aside.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be all right.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: We've gotten to this point right now and we've been all right.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to be all right.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay to take chances, right?
- 33:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay to fear, but still put that to the side to put an agenda in a plan and a strategy forward, right?
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: So that set the course of why yeah, that's my DNA, right?
- 33:16[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll never fear opportunity.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'll never fear collaboration.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'll never fear developing and starting something new because they left everything they knew for this, right?
- 33:27[SPEAKER_00]: Especially in the time when
- 33:30[SPEAKER_00]: it wasn't the best for that person, right?
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: Coming into the states.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I can't lie the next person is Damon, Damon John, right?
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like he and I went on tour for four years, um, created a tour called Tap the Future where we're a funding small businesses, putting resources into businesses.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: But it was the insights and the strategy that they got from all of that.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_00]: That for me, I had, I, I further understood the importance of insights and data.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_04]: Give me a conversation where you can remember where the light bulb just goes off and you're like, man,
- 34:00[SPEAKER_00]: Damon told me that I was one of two people that have black people that have ever cut him in check.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_00]: When he told me that I knew what I needed to do to get to where I needed to go.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's played it, right?
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: Understanding that, you know, for us, it's not that sometimes that we don't want to, because there are other Steve canals that were in corporate positions to cut him in check.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_00]: sometimes you aren't giving the resources or the ability to.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you fear what that'll look like if you do, right?
- 34:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's just the tone of us being in corporate, right?
- 34:38[SPEAKER_00]: We have the smallest budgets, but are expected to five, ten X and outperform the NHL team or whatever team within corporate, that has the budgets that are five times bigger than yours, right?
- 34:52[SPEAKER_00]: So for me, I understood through that conversation and we've talked about it.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_00]: that one, like I said, for me it's the year of collaboration.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: Can't do it by yourself, right?
- 35:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I understood that I needed to work with as many people as possible to put that mindset together to create strategies and plans and do it together and grow because as they always say, they'll add it, we're stronger together.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: And being able to be that support system for him, put him on a path to create other relationships within that system.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_00]: So it wasn't just on me, other people saw the strength and the benefit of working with him because I knew how to package those insights and the data that impact that.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I knew I had to work harder to put this in a position to storytell, right?
- 35:38[SPEAKER_00]: And put our wins on display for people to understand.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not bragging, right?
- 35:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's an opportunity to tell the story to grow.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_04]: I love it.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_04]: Isaac, we don't, we don't, we're not just born with these ideas and these visions.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_04]: Who are some like the mentors that you've had like where you just saw someone with a big vision and you were able to adopt that?
- 36:03[SPEAKER_02]: Only one.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_02]: Isaac Ayes.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, so, you know, when you grow up,
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: When you grow up, the child of a famous person, they're just like your parent.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: So you understand it.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's like, what's like being just a lot of a famous person?
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, you get in trouble, you get, you know, you all go kick and have dinner.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's a family.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: But my mom did a really good
- 36:28[SPEAKER_02]: job about is telling my father's story from the perspective of, you know your father used to pick cotton as a child.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know he used to work on a hall factory, right?
- 36:38[SPEAKER_02]: You know he used to go to school with holes in his shoes, but they would put cardboard in the bottom of him, so he could have something to walk on.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_02]: You know he couldn't read, so he taught himself how to read, and became salutatorian of his high school.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know he only knew how to play piano with two fingers and taught himself to play and went on to win an academy award for creating music.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_02]: So once you see that there's a no excuse.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: There's no
- 37:04[SPEAKER_02]: There's no, there's nothing, there's no, there's no, but I and why and excuse to be made.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's literally like, okay, so you go from, you go from, like I said, my father grew up without his father and my grandmother, I never met her, she died when he was two years old.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_02]: So his great-grandmother raised him.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, his grandmother raised him.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_02]: My great-grandmother raised him.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: So he had this broken life, but he always was like, I want to do things.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_02]: I want to take flutes and strings and combine them with organs and drum and bass and make this symphonic soul genre music that people laughed at him about.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_02]: From Detroit to Memphis, they were like, nah, we up here, we do the pop string stuff.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_02]: with the temptations and suprimes.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_02]: And y'all got Otis Redding, y'all got the staple singers, y'all got Johnny Taylor, that's what y'all do.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_02]: But I was like, he's like, we can, we can do both.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_04]: Now I just, when you say it, it's like, oh, man, it's music.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's Arbina.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_02]: There's no time.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_02]: It was like blood and crisps.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_02]: It was literally like, I was joking.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like there was no like they too tracked.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_02]: So my dad's breakout out was hot but a soul.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm called walk on by a huge, amazing orchestra arrangement.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_02]: They had to take the two track of the song.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_02]: Pull on two track and go to Detroit and record the strings into Troy.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: There weren't nobody in Memphis to play strings.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_02]: So the strings for hot but a soul were all done into Troy.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_02]: So he went up there and said, I'm going to work with y'all.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to do my thing down here and he put it together.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: And now you cannot, you literally can't imagine aren't being hip-hop without strings and flutes.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: Even when I think of like Snoop Dogg and I think the shit that comes on on doggy style with a flute and it's got that organ in there.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_02]: That's anything that takes
- 38:54[SPEAKER_02]: Hard as beats with flukes and strings.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_02]: After that was Curtis Mayfield.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: After that was Barry White.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_02]: After that was Teddy Pintergrass.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: After that was the OJs.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody was after that.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_02]: So he made modern day R&B.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_02]: So to me, it's like dreaming big.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_02]: That was the thing that I always said for me when I wanted to become an entrepreneur.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_02]: I was caught.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: I was lost for a little while.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_02]: And when I met by that is that I thought that I needed to be my dad.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: to be creative, because I'm a creative, but I realized my dad had a work ethic, and actually it was the discovery of we were transferring all my father's masters from two inch tape to digitize them on pro tools.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_02]: And so in doing that process, I'm reading the dates
- 39:40[SPEAKER_02]: of these sessions.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, oh, they did four songs that day.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_02]: They did three songs that day.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he was working on my birthday.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: This song was done like, this song was done, this song was done.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like the night before I was born or whatever, whatever, I got all these tapes.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_02]: And so I'm like, okay, it's work ethic too.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I've always had a really good work ethic.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: But for me, like I said, it's about the ability to dream past that.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: So I was like, I can still
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: have the work ethic and the vision of my father and not necessarily have to be in music.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: So once I felt like, I didn't need to, I got like, you can't, I can't be my dad, I can't, only one person is going to be going to ask for the first time, only one as a case, right?
- 40:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I could want to write and produce records, but I was like, all right, cool, but I want to do, I want to do something more.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: I have a bigger vision.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the combination of his work ethic and then growing up in this city and just knowing the legacy of civil rights and Martin Luther King and Manor Jackson and all the mayors and seeing what kind of lives Black people live.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, OK, this has to be protected.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_02]: This has to be amplified.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_02]: This has to be expanded.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_02]: This has to be, you know, just just, you know, marketed and promoted and done the way that we can spread it across that.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_02]: That's really the only, my parents is the same way, like, that's it.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_02]: What my dad went through with my mother told me, like, you ain't, don't, don't ever think that you don't, you know, don't have the work hard.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_02]: And that's always just been how I was.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_04]: Polarizing, common, right here, but it's gonna sound kinda crazy, but someone that inspires me is Donald Trump.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_04]: simply because you're not supposed to even be able to do stuff that he does like you would have to be in politics at some point to be the president right you got to know something about politics be like a governor or mayor or like at least be a political figure you can't be on Twitter all day but
- 41:39[SPEAKER_04]: No one told him you can't.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 41:42[SPEAKER_04]: Or like, you know, bro, you got felonies and you can't be the president.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_04]: It's like I'm running anyway.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_04]: Like that mindset, not the person himself.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_04]: But that mindset of audacity, you can't tell me what I can't do.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_04]: I, it's an inspiration to me, like for a person who, again, has
- 42:13[SPEAKER_04]: feeling like you're convicted, you're convicted.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_04]: What's up with you, bro?
- 42:18[SPEAKER_04]: But you shouldn't even, for me, I wouldn't run because I know that or there are some people where someone comments bad on your social media and you don't want to, you don't want to create anymore content because someone in the, there's a couple of people in the comments to say, I don't like what you said.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm looking, honestly, to start adopting the, I can do the impossible.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_02]: Let me, let me tell you how that's done.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_02]: As you got to villainize, you got to villainize the world.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I remember the White House correspondent's dinner with Obama, and he was cracking junk jokes at Trump.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_02]: That made Donald Trump.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_02]: When everybody was laughing at him in that room, that day, he was like,
- 43:06[SPEAKER_02]: You need that.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_02]: You need a villain origin story.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_02]: You need the Michael Jordan like I took that personally and I'm going to show you.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_02]: You need the if you ever seen genius the Kanye West documentary that first episode is Kanye's villain origin story.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody was crap on on him.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_02]: You need that like yeah, because he again I I they're all Jim and I see I'm a Jim and I Trump's a Jim and I Kanye's a Jim and I like you
- 43:31[SPEAKER_02]: Kendrick's a Gemini.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_02]: You want petty?
- 43:34[SPEAKER_02]: You want it?
- 43:34[SPEAKER_02]: You want I'ma show you?
- 43:36[SPEAKER_02]: Time of energy!
- 43:38[SPEAKER_02]: All right, play them games with a Jim and I see how hard we go.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_04]: But not everybody takes it that way.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_04]: Some people take that type of slander and shrink.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_04]: It's a different type of person.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_04]: But I'm saying this to the person who can relate.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_04]: Like if there are too many people that say no or too many people will say what you're doing is crazy.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_04]: It shrinks us.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_00]: Bill and I. Bill and I. But also.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_00]: what is giving him that confidence.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's not just him, right?
- 44:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like, depending on how far you want to go, like, you guys have to have some type of level of support that's going to give you that type of confidence that no matter what anybody says, no matter what they do, I know where I'm going because I know how this system works, right?
- 44:29[SPEAKER_00]: If you're getting endless donations,
- 44:32[SPEAKER_00]: and you're getting endless, you know, folks who are moving those chess pieces, you're playing out a different game.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 44:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's like going into a match, you know what the result's gonna be because, you know, because of certain data or information that you have.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_00]: Certain things you're going into a situation, you know that outcome already.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know what's about that happened.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you need votes.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_00]: You need this.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_00]: You need that.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_00]: But if you know how the system works, you know what levers you need to move and you have that support, it's a different level of confidence.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter what people said.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 45:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he had the backing because some people wanted the system to change.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_04]: I think everything you just said is a part of my point because there are some things that have to happen and have to take place.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_04]: How do you get in an environment where you learn what leverage it's a pool or you put yourself in an environment where you can have some people help you predict the outcome.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_04]: So I go to Isaac's office to other day and I'm telling about this idea in his vision and
- 45:37[SPEAKER_04]: That was one of the licenses that I got to say, oh, cool, because he was like, yeah, if you had that out right now, I'd use it right now.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_04]: And he started telling me how the game is played.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_04]: We started going with the conversations in the past and crowdfunding and raising.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm starting to develop the formula on how to go into the game and understand how it's rigged.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_04]: or understand how to play it.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_04]: But we're going in blind.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_04]: We don't know.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_04]: We just, oh, I'm gonna just start some cool idea of what the performance has.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a tricky, well, I was gonna say, for me, what I did, and I think all of us have, all of us have a skill set and an experience that can be used to further ourselves in another industry that's like transferable skills.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_02]: So I took, I literally took, like, I always say, music and tech in Notre Dame, and actually music is harder than tech.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_02]: The music industry is way, the tech is a piece of cake because the reason why I say tech is a piece of cake is because it's the same thing as entertainment, but there's actually more rules and more protections in place for you, but if you don't know, you'll get treated like an artist.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_02]: So if you don't know, you're going to sign over your IP to some guy that invested in your company and then you're going to get kicked out of the company and they're going to own you and they're going to run you out of business.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_02]: So you got it.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_02]: So you got to always, you have to have your head on a swivel and entertainment.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody's always trying to stab you in the bag.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody's always trying to steal your ideas.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody's always trying to get your publishing, signing a master's, whatever, whatever, get jerked.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's the story of the music business.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_02]: So a business
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: If I already come in there with that, I already know you're trying to screw me.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_02]: There's people in our ecosystem that tried to offer me deals.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I say, OK, yeah, two things.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'll never work for anybody.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_02]: No one ever will be my boss.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_02]: And don't ask for no crazy percentage of equity of what you're trying to do.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_02]: And they disappear.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_02]: Because they know I can't get him.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_02]: But I can get that.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_02]: I can get the guy out of.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_02]: and the guy at Georgia Tech or the young tech industry says, I wanna build my product.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, cool, I need money though.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, cool, here's the money.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_02]: Sign here.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_02]: Cool.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, there's two people on the board.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, you just wait, oh yeah, but I believe in my vision.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_02]: You guys live it, I love it.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_02]: No, we really just wanna scale this thing up to about five million dollars and got our initial million dollars and just quadrupled it and then sell it and then tell you to go and build something else.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there are a lot of smart people in the world.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_00]: There are a lot of ideas, amazing ideas that are out there.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_00]: Only two things that can make it successful.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_00]: People are money, right?
- 48:12[SPEAKER_00]: And the side that has the money,
- 48:15[SPEAKER_00]: is gonna bet on people not supporting you for you to have to make a deal with them.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_04]: Right?
- 48:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was actually just a gym.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: All right, I know what you mean.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's actually just a gym.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, share this.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_00]: There's two ways for you to attain that success, right?
- 48:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's money or people, right?
- 48:37[SPEAKER_00]: And the people with the money are gonna bet on the people not supporting whatever you're building
- 48:44[SPEAKER_00]: for them to wait for you to come begging for that check or to make that deal for them to be a part of what you're building, right?
- 48:51[SPEAKER_00]: So the reason why I say people need to sign up for fan base just to sign up is because, you know, Isaac has a line he's drawing in the sand, right?
- 49:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going in this direction and I'm not gonna do that.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_00]: For it to be successful, you need people when you make that decision.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 49:13[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why it's so important for storytelling, right?
- 49:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's for people to understand.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_00]: And if the people aren't connecting and getting it, then there needs to be another level of a collection of people that have the power within those systems and machines to support that line in the sand.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_02]: Can I add to what he said, though?
- 49:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's appropriate.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_02]: What he said is a gem because
- 49:37[SPEAKER_02]: when equity crowdfunding came on the scene.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_02]: All the VCs were like, oh, people are too unsophisticated to know what they're going to invest in.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_02]: Don't trust it.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's not, you know, it's not sophisticated.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_02]: If you take money from equity crowdfunding, then we won't invest in your company.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_02]: The reason why they did that is because the people power equity crowdfunding, not the VCs.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_02]: So he's right.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_02]: So the reason is like, when I go raise twenty two million dollars from people,
- 50:03[SPEAKER_02]: I can walk in the room with a VC and they're like, yeah, you can't give me five hundred thousand dollars for twenty five percent of my company.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_02]: No, because I got the people behind me, you can't do that.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_02]: And so that's why they hate it because now I'm giving the people the opportunity to make the wealth that they've been making for eighty three years and bypassing them.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_02]: So all week.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_02]: And it's, and again, I'm not trying to invest in a soda company.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to build something that gets as big as Google or Microsoft and like, oh, and you're going to let black people on that.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_02]: So you're going to build a company, a tech company, and let
- 50:32[SPEAKER_02]: thousands and thousands of black people own that and scale that up and then all y'all exit like we've been doing for hundreds of years and then putting our kids through college and then take that money and then go invest in other startups and more startups because again it's like you know the guys at the guys have put the guys have put five thousand dollars in the Uber turning into twenty four million dollars in nine years.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_02]: What did any of the business that you can do daily?
- 50:52[SPEAKER_00]: You can't think just think about the path that he's taken, right?
- 50:58[SPEAKER_00]: And you have another business and you're about to do a raise.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_00]: The poorest your business will be at that point, right?
- 51:08[SPEAKER_00]: When you get an investment at that point, you really want that money.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_00]: So for five million, ten million, twenty million.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_00]: If you have a vision that your business is worth two hundred million, three hundred million, four hundred million.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_00]: And you're giving up thirty five percent, forty forty percent for that five million, that ten million, that twenty million.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_00]: You have to understand what that means when you get to two hundred million, four hundred million, five hundred million.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_00]: You have to think that way because you're giving up a lot of your business.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_00]: for the earliest part of your business.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 51:47[SPEAKER_00]: So strategically, you have to make a decision of what it's worth.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I, you know, take the path that Isaac has, or the investment that I am taking in, right?
- 51:57[SPEAKER_00]: I believe in their ability to grow my business to that point, right?
- 52:02[SPEAKER_00]: They're offering something, whether it's relationships, technology, strategy, something that's gonna help me get to that point.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_00]: Then it's well worth it.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 52:11[SPEAKER_00]: But if if that person is just cutting me and checking, they just want me to do all the work to get to that.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_00]: They're expecting that five million to be ten million, twenty million, thirty million, right?
- 52:19[SPEAKER_04]: So you have the level of belief or somehow how big you even see it.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_00]: A hundred percent.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_00]: So starting out from the beginning.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to be a great company.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_04]: I'm a exit for five million.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_04]: Somebody offers you five.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_04]: We really got
- 52:35[SPEAKER_04]: a hundred million dollar five hundred million dollar idea that five is the is the ceiling anyway you like you know I did it but you like I think I really like what you said where you like how can not only I exit but how can I get thousands of people to have an exit
- 52:54[SPEAKER_04]: where there's some growth.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_04]: You know what we have to scale?
- 52:57[SPEAKER_02]: We have to scale businesses to hundreds of billions of dollars.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_02]: How do we do that?
- 53:05[SPEAKER_02]: I need to know.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_02]: I have this weird brain.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_02]: I have this sequential thought process and I have these metaphors and I repeat to myself all the time, one of them is, I live my life, I eat my crab legs.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_02]: And people don't understand what that means.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I ask people like, if you, anybody eat crab legs, do you crab legs?
- 53:25[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_02]: How do you eat crab legs?
- 53:27[SPEAKER_02]: Crab legs.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, cool.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_02]: I don't do that.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_04]: You don't want those people to eat the whole crab legs, right?
- 53:34[SPEAKER_04]: I see it on top.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_02]: I crack weird all the crab legs and then I eat.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, I want to do all the work.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_02]: And then I want to feast.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_02]: I hate cracking and cramling and eating.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_02]: If it's cold, crack.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_04]: I'll be able to tell him because that's how you like it.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_02]: Cracking the cram.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_02]: I just want to crack on the cram legs.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_02]: Throw that bad boy in the microwave for about twenty five seconds.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_02]: Don't some butter on it and just feast.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_02]: work reward, work reward.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_02]: And so the sacrifice that it takes to build something, you sacrifice friendships, dating, like I said, all the things that I did, even as a young person, the phrase is, work hard as a kid, play hard as an adult.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_02]: Play hard as a kid, work hard as an adult.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's why when you go to college, the people that go to college are like, yo, I want a king and party and yellow, and all those things they tell you, that is a trap.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_02]: They're telling you that, so they're like, you don't really get your shit together, when you got the energy to build something in your twenties.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody should live their life like a professional athlete, that I'm only going to be good to I'm thirty-five.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_02]: I should be retiring at thirty-five years old, because to become a bronze James, you're going to have to miss a promise to wear a dancer too, or a field trip, or a sleepover.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_02]: You know, while we're going to the arcade and watch them, I got to practice.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_02]: I got to go to work.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_02]: I saw them like I'll be joined, say that.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's no reason why it ain't no secret why he's successful.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_02]: He's not really a partier.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_02]: I want to focus on what I want to do and accomplish what I want to accomplish.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_02]: But we're always taught to party and kick it and have fun and then go work and I'm hung over and all that and great.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to live your life that way, that's fine.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_02]: But while you're young, while you can go to bed at four in the morning, like we all used to and get up at nine and have the energy to do that a whole week in a row.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_02]: Then use that time to not party, but to build your business.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_02]: How you scale business to billions and billions of dollars is identify.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_02]: So just keep it simple.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_02]: When I said I had that linear mindset, the only way
- 55:31[SPEAKER_02]: realistically in your scale business since you hundreds of billions of dollars is technology.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_02]: So if the conversation isn't about tech, I don't care what you do.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're in the podcast and you're media, how can tech be part of your media business?
- 55:43[SPEAKER_02]: So okay, we got media, but how can tech be a part of it?
- 55:45[SPEAKER_02]: Because my tech business, my media business, come out with tech, I can get it to a billion dollars.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever you're building, it can be a podcasting, but how can tech be part of podcasting and build it to billions of dollars?
- 55:57[SPEAKER_02]: I've been social media, be part of technology or black culture, be part of technology and scale it to billions of dollars.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_02]: So the answer is tech.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_02]: So if it ain't tech, I ain't talking about it.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to talk about it.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_02]: I got this again.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I say when we have these conversations about it, I'm making it and you can make it too bro.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_02]: If it ain't about tech, I don't want to talk about it.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_00]: And he's absolutely right.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_00]: And that's exactly what I was about to say before he said it, right?
- 56:19[SPEAKER_00]: Just think about who those hundreds of billions and show these dollars and those businesses, you know, what are they made of or the makeup of them, right?
- 56:27[SPEAKER_00]: You have some net of products, you know what I'm saying?
- 56:30[SPEAKER_00]: But you need technology.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_00]: You have to build and why are you building technology?
- 56:36[SPEAKER_00]: Access to people.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_00]: How do you reach people with the fastest way?
- 56:39[SPEAKER_00]: How do you develop a tool that's going to keep them engaged to interact on that technology that you
- 56:44[SPEAKER_00]: own, right?
- 56:46[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever it is, that's moving that tech, you know, like you, that's what's going to get you to that number.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's the only way.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_00]: You just said it.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's the only way you're going to be away.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to get to that.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's technology.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_00]: So when we say media and entertainment, it's because behind that, when I said I invested in that X amount of dollars in tools, the technology,
- 57:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's why a Fortune-Fifty brand sees value in what we do, because it's not only can you get to that a hundred thousand person event, we can reach millions upon millions as well outside of that event, right?
- 57:22[SPEAKER_00]: And we can get you closer to that audience.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_00]: That specific person you're looking for, that you need to speak to.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_00]: We know where they are, what they read, what cool they they like.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 57:33[SPEAKER_00]: What time they like to eat dinner?
- 57:35[SPEAKER_00]: How many kids they have?
- 57:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like that is the key.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_00]: The reason why it for us is taking a little bit longer as a culture to get there collectively is because it's so hard for us every day.
- 57:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like you're not thinking about the data.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_00]: the insights.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_00]: How can I not only have the data?
- 57:55[SPEAKER_00]: Because I get so many people every day like, yo, I got this party, I got this event, I need sponsorship.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, bro, if you're really doing the work, you know what brands want to sponsor you.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_00]: Because you've done the insights and research to know who their target audience is.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 58:11[SPEAKER_00]: That data that insight and the makeup of your demo, who is your audience?
- 58:17[SPEAKER_00]: All right, you got ten thousand people who attend, who are they?
- 58:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 58:21[SPEAKER_00]: How many women?
- 58:22[SPEAKER_00]: How many men?
- 58:22[SPEAKER_00]: The basics?
- 58:23[SPEAKER_00]: How old are they?
- 58:24[SPEAKER_00]: What school did they go to?
- 58:26[SPEAKER_00]: How much money do they make?
- 58:27[SPEAKER_00]: You know what kind of cars do they like to drive?
- 58:29[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying when you start to get that information and you get to leverage the technology and the tools to really make that machine work?
- 58:38[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's a different ball game.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_00]: You don't need to call me.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I need to reach out to these five brands because that's who they're interested based off this, this, this right here.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_00]: But it's so hard for us on a day to day.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's the last thing we're thinking about.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_04]: That's the most important.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_02]: Which is the most important.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_02]: Retention.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_02]: He just said, retention.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's the same thing, retention.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_02]: In the algorithms, like we're working on, we're working on our algorithm.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_02]: And so when I had to learn about algorithms, it's really just algorithms.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_02]: A recommendation is a form of algorithms, so what you see when you're on platform.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_02]: So when you're on social media.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_02]: So you don't understand how much data these apps are getting from us.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_02]: Number one, they're all connected.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_02]: So what you're looking at on Instagram, TikTok has access to that number one.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_02]: Because they're open source APIs, they can pull, they can pull that data.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_02]: He says, okay, I can pull that information.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_02]: What you when algorithm like ingestion engines take, you're scrolling on a video, you stop.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_02]: You stop on a video and they say, okay, you're watching a video of a person playing basketball in San Francisco wearing Jordan's with a hot dog in the background.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_02]: on a Saturday night at two p.m.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_02]: with a t-shirt on that says this and they take all of that in every single thing.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_02]: What the words on the screen, what the music is and they take all that and they just keep feeding and feeding and feeding and feeding and now they're trying to get a profile and they're saying, okay, cool.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_02]: So in the last fifty videos, he didn't stop for two point five seconds on the videos.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_02]: They have basketball shoes in them.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, but what basketball shoes in a well-aided minute?
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, there's some re-box in here.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_02]: There's some deities in here.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_02]: There's some Nike's in here, but not Nike's.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_02]: No, they're George, but not just George or Jordan ones.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so, all right, let's send them some more content about Jordan ones.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_02]: So, all right, there we go.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_02]: Now we, okay, now we got you.
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_02]: So now you wind up, when I've ridden you wind up, I've ridden you better than you know yourself.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_02]: They tell the innermost desires that you have.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_02]: Like I forgot for you.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_02]: If you look at my content on any of my platforms, I like comic books, pet videos, really attractive women.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, and that's it.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_02]: And music, music, culture content.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_02]: But that's kind of it.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_02]: because it's just the things that, because that's why I talk about Shazam and such a genius.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_02]: When I talk about Shazam's, anyway, I know Shazam is where you listen to the music, right?
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's why Shazam and such a genius tool, because would you ever shazam a song you hate?
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_02]: No, exactly.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like, boom.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like, every time you shazam a record, it's already something that you like.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's instantaneous.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, okay, cool.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_00]: and social telling you already for you page.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_00]: You're right.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_00]: You may have seen Keith Lee.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's been Tom and Keith Lee.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_00]: Next time it's gonna be ten different versions of Keith Lee that you're watching.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_00]: And then whatever you're spending that time, it's going to feed you specifically.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I say social media isn't social media anymore.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's not us talking and engaging with each other.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's you're basically watching channels.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_02]: Not a toy.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's a tool.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_02]: It was a toy in two thousand ten.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_02]: It was a toy when Facebook and my space was a toy.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_02]: We all have fun.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's a tool now to it's it's literally a machine to learn as much as you can about the human being and get things from it in the process.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_02]: We all still our problem is we still have a fun on it.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_02]: We still making the challenges and but that but that in itself is is a is a skill that no one else has anyway.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like so when someone says nothing we suggest to holiday right and then we start making all those videos like think about how many times you've heard that.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_02]: They can't pay for that type of advertisement.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_02]: And black people are giving them that advertisement for free.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't made the New Orleans bounce version of it.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_02]: Nothing beats a jet tool holiday.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_02]: From my point, it's like, go look at their website traffic.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_02]: Go look at Google Trends.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_02]: Go look at go search jet to holiday and see how in June it just shot up like a rocket.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_02]: because we want to be the cool, we innovate and then the collateral of our innovation is trillions of dollars of ideas and value that we give to brands.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_02]: And then, okay, how do we capture that?
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_02]: So my point is stop what you're doing.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_02]: put take your hand off the turntable in the mixer.
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go figure out how to build turntables in mixes because when you do this fly thing over here, techniques and pioneer and Sony and all, they're going to make all the money.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to be the cool, you're going to be the guy like we can get into, we can get into club for free.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_02]: before everybody else.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, but who's making the money?
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_02]: Who's owning the infrastructure of your innovation?
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_02]: So great.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's cool.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a cool guy in the black.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_02]: I can DJ all the girls like me.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but techniques and pioneer.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_02]: Stop.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_02]: Let's figure out how to build that.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_02]: And I just didn't look man.
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_02]: Stop with the social media stuff.
- 1:03:22[SPEAKER_02]: Let's own it.
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_02]: on the infrastructure.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_02]: There's no Twitter without black Twitter.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_02]: There's no TikTok without black people making dances.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_02]: There's no Instagram without these platforms literally cannot function.
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_02]: They would suffocate and die.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_02]: So if you know you have that type of power over organization, then why not say, oh, I'm a bitches bill, something that I own and suffocate these guys, but I'm not going to just use it to have fun.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_02]: We have fun, but I'm an earning.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_00]: This is the mindset of how we are when we grow up just culturally.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_00]: We're raised to be worker bees, right?
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_00]: So you're working, working, working, working.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_00]: You get on social.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_00]: You be creative.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_00]: You love the people who are being creative naturally.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_00]: And that's where it stops.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_00]: Because in a couple of hours, you got to go to bed, you got to feed your kids, you got to take them to school, you got to go to work again, you're going to repeat.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_00]: We're on repeat.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's only a few, when you look at the whole body, that actually create.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a duty there for us to continue to do that, but to the point of creation.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's creating opportunities for people to come on board.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_00]: And it is with youth, giving them those opportunities.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_00]: We do so many internships and hires that
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_00]: We're in a position to allow people to produce or be in a background and see a production for that large scale or events with people that they see on TV and understand what the possibilities are.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like we have to give the youth that opportunity.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_00]: So we have to create and bring those interns in and create those jobs because we're at the home right now.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_00]: of that creation.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_00]: So when Isaac says he's hiring for ES-Forty employees, like there's still other people that he's hiring in ten ninety-nine and you know folks that he's bringing in that get to see the machine work.
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's very, very important because that's not the norm.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_00]: You don't just wake up and get a job to be able to work at Twitter or Instagram or whatever.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_00]: Like you have access right now, right?
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_00]: Because he took the time to build, right?
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's why it's important for us to take advantage of these opportunities because we can blast it out all day.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_00]: But it's going on deaf ears because people got bills to pay.
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_00]: They got kids to feed.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_00]: They got to go to work.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_00]: And they hear it in one ear and out the other.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_00]: So the one is that we can't grasp, that next person's going to create ten jobs.
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_00]: And that person's going to create twenty jobs, right?
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like we have to keep that machine oiled and move.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, said.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_03]: Do you work on weekends?
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_03]: Do you work on weekends?
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_03]: Not all Saturday because I'm in church, but Sunday.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_02]: What about you?
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_00]: It depends what the kids are doing.
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_00]: So y'all got kids and stuff.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_02]: I was just having the conversation yesterday and there was something that I wanted to do on Saturday.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not going to go into the details of it, but the person was like, yeah, but it's the weekend, like, work life balance.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_02]: And not that.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, bro, if you want to be a billionaire and no work life balance, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's sacrifice.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_02]: And then you do it.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_02]: And again, you got, I mean, the work life balance that you have to have is taking care of yourself.
- 1:06:37[SPEAKER_02]: So I try to go to bed, I don't drink liquor.
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I don't go places and I don't just say like, that's, I don't care about the time.
- 1:06:43[SPEAKER_02]: I don't need time away to go kick it.
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm like, yo, that's the only way that you're going to, like, to the entrepreneurs that want to build businesses.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's to help you all in time, like, even even people that work, even people that work for the, for the company, I'm like, yo.
- 1:06:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I haven't even, I've heard some people say this, like, even in even in the company, even in a company, I hope you were saying, well, Isaac, everybody, everybody's not going to see it like that.
- 1:07:08[SPEAKER_02]: But I was like, hey, but the people that work here have stock options.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_02]: You're telling me that I can't own a piece of something that I have the ability to make worth billions of dollars.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm working on the weekends.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to hunt it because people do that at record companies and just be the intern.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_02]: They did, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_02]: People do that just to just just a sleep on the floor or the studio and just want to be in the room, but you actually got a piece of it.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_02]: Because those are the people that you see like, oh yeah, they worked at Oracle, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_02]: Or they, you know, all the rich people in Austin, I'm a twenty-some-year-old.
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_02]: They got mint because they, because they worked on, now they're like, okay, I'm thirty-five, you go forty-five years on retire.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_02]: I got fifteen million dollars in the bank.
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_02]: I can eat crab legs every day if I want to.
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's just saying, it's like, that's how you got to be thinking about it.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_02]: But you really got to focus, but again, there's so much, there's so many things that confuse and distract us thrown at us every day.
- 1:08:00[SPEAKER_02]: You got to filter out all the BS.
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of things with that, you know, for those who do have the stock options that might not fully grasp and understand what that potential means, because maybe their first generation of getting that, right?
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_00]: And where other folks, their parents might have gotten stocks and they understand like, oh, they cashed out when they retired or they got this and they was sold, right?
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_00]: Their mindset is different, right?
- 1:08:22[SPEAKER_00]: So they work because they know what the potential is for that.
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_00]: right so again that story telling is sharing that information like you saying that right now maybe somebody who works for you you just sparked their mind like oh
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I didn't even think of it that way.
- 1:08:39[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:08:41[SPEAKER_04]: Y'all gave me some things today in terms of like the information about the data and insights and analytics, but I wasn't getting all that.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_04]: I was trying to sell the twenty five, give me the money.
- 1:08:51[SPEAKER_04]: Like if we get twenty five hours a year product and then at the end of the day, I count my money and I wake up and go do it again.
- 1:08:57[SPEAKER_04]: And that's kind of more of a limited thinking if I'm not having this conversation or when I went to the office the other day,
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_04]: Isaac pulls up this list of all the billionaires, and he's going to the list, said they built their billion, text, tech, tech.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, retail, okay, tech, tech, tech, tech, tech, tech, tech, tech, tech, tech, tech, tech, tech, tech.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_04]: He's pointing out the fact that all of these billionaires built their wealth, some sort of tech.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm like, oh, I could put two and two together.
- 1:09:28[SPEAKER_04]: I can count.
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_04]: I could do the math.
- 1:09:30[SPEAKER_04]: I need to be.
- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_04]: In tech, if I ever want to get to that high level of really changing not only, again, my own financial picture, but solving a true problem that affects everyone, not just me.
- 1:09:45[SPEAKER_04]: I think, you know, it's not, we got to go, but this has been an eye-opening conversation.
- 1:09:51[SPEAKER_04]: These are more to conversations that I want to have, not just
- 1:09:55[SPEAKER_04]: not just different like plays that we can make right there strategies where you can go out and make some money but if you are going to build the infrastructure of something huge
- 1:10:07[SPEAKER_04]: We have to be playing a different game.
- 1:10:08[SPEAKER_04]: So please, Steve, you can let everybody know how they can get in touch with you.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_04]: Also support your book and then some closing words for us.
- 1:10:17[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely all social platforms, fan base and all Steve can now as Steve can now see a NAL.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_00]: Shoot me a DM, hit me up.
- 1:10:29[SPEAKER_00]: And from my book, you can get both my books on SteveKanal.com.
- 1:10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Definitely sign it and send it off to you.
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_00]: The biggest thing for me is your mindset has to be in the game.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_00]: You have to think bigger, but you can't do it alone.
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_00]: The world can't support.
- 1:10:48[SPEAKER_00]: The world can't help if the world doesn't know what you're trying to do.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_00]: The days of just, you know, just keep it in your back pocket isn't the best, right?
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_00]: We have trade marks, copyrights.
- 1:10:58[SPEAKER_00]: We have all that, all those things, NDAs you could put in place to have those conversations, but leverage this.
- 1:11:05[SPEAKER_00]: If you're starting a business, if you have a business, right?
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_00]: Start what you're networked.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, you know, hey team, you know, just started this cupcake business with love, you support.
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_00]: This is how you can purchase the cupcakes as our location.
- 1:11:19[SPEAKER_00]: Send the text message off.
- 1:11:19[SPEAKER_00]: You have three people in your phone book.
- 1:11:21[SPEAKER_00]: If twenty five hundred of them have that mindset for support and other five thousand is more executive and you don't want to go there.
- 1:11:28[SPEAKER_00]: Send me that text message.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_00]: If a hundred of those people decide to purchase your cupcakes, you're on the moon.
- 1:11:33[SPEAKER_00]: Got them saying, so you have to leverage your immediate network.
- 1:11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Stop thinking in the mindset like, I don't want to bother these people out.
- 1:11:41[SPEAKER_00]: They say, no, they say no.
- 1:11:43[SPEAKER_00]: What's worse?
- 1:11:44[SPEAKER_00]: You going out of business and not having anything or having some people say no, and a hundred people say yes, and now you're moving, right?
- 1:11:52[SPEAKER_00]: Leverage your network.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_00]: You cannot do it by yourself.
- 1:11:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's a ninety nine point nine percent impossible to do it by yourself.
- 1:11:59[SPEAKER_00]: There are those who hit the lottery, might do something and they get that chance, but you got to leverage people.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_04]: Well said, and I appreciate you dropping by my brother.
- 1:12:08[SPEAKER_04]: How does it close to salt man?
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_04]: How do I can invest?
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_04]: How do I can work with you?
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_04]: Or how do I can invest?
- 1:12:15[SPEAKER_04]: And how do I can support?
- 1:12:16[SPEAKER_04]: And also give us some words of wisdom.
- 1:12:19[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm at IZK's three on fan base, and all of the socials but fan base, thank you for that as well.
- 1:12:26[SPEAKER_02]: Make a fan base first.
- 1:12:28[SPEAKER_04]: True.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_04]: I too am an investor.
- 1:12:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:12:30[SPEAKER_04]: I did the interview, but I did.
- 1:12:35[SPEAKER_04]: And the end of y'all got to go last that first interview I do I was okay.
- 1:12:39[SPEAKER_04]: It was so compelling.
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_04]: I invested that I'm talking about what I'm all y'all brought.
- 1:12:43[SPEAKER_04]: Let me just do it right now and I invested it.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_04]: It wasn't no play.
- 1:12:46[SPEAKER_04]: It wasn't planned.
- 1:12:48[SPEAKER_04]: It was I the story telling.
- 1:12:51[SPEAKER_04]: It made me feel something, a sense of responsibility.
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_04]: I said, yep, I will invest.
- 1:12:55[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_04]: So, yeah, I'm sorry.
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to be like dated, you can ask D.E.
- 1:13:01[SPEAKER_02]: You can go to startengine.com slash fan base to invest.
- 1:13:04[SPEAKER_02]: The minimum is three hundred and ninety nine dollars.
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_02]: The irony in what I said is we have twenty three thousand investors and I'll say I never raise twenty three million dollars.
- 1:13:13[SPEAKER_02]: I really like average investment size by the thousand books.
- 1:13:16[SPEAKER_02]: So a thousand people, if forty one hundred people invested a thousand dollars, the race would close today.
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_02]: I always say that.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_02]: And I know everybody ain't got a thousand dollars, but I know people would be spending some money on a lot of crazy stuff.
- 1:13:30[SPEAKER_02]: Words of encouragement persistence.
- 1:13:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like you can nothing, nothing beats persistence.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's another thing about me.
- 1:13:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's like somebody can be having more money than you be more talented than you, be smarter than you, but nothing beats just like not stopping.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_02]: You will not fail if you don't stop.
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like fan bases, it's already a success.
- 1:13:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to continue to be a success because I'm not stopping.
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_02]: You're only failing what you're giving up on.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_02]: And so when you're starting your business, you've got to kind of put that in mind because you're going to want to quit.
- 1:14:04[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to feel like, you know, maybe you're going to have self-doubt.
- 1:14:08[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to have all those things, but you kind of got to sinning yourself with God, like, really sinning yourself in your faith and say, all right, I know I have these voices.
- 1:14:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's really, am I really supposed to be doing this?
- 1:14:18[SPEAKER_02]: Should I be doing this?
- 1:14:20[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be a purpose-driven mission.
- 1:14:23[SPEAKER_02]: It'll consume your life.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_02]: but it'll give you calm, it'll give you focus.
- 1:14:27[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be more peace than you ever found, because you're not thinking about other things.
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_02]: Everything seems insignificant.
- 1:14:34[SPEAKER_02]: This person honking at me, I'm not about to yell at you.
- 1:14:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not about to have this toxic relationship where I argue with somebody all day long.
- 1:14:42[SPEAKER_02]: I am focused.
- 1:14:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not gonna deal with the family members that want to go back and forth in the group chat over Thanksgiving dinner.
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have time for that.
- 1:14:50[SPEAKER_02]: I gotta focus.
- 1:14:52[SPEAKER_02]: And so when you want to scale your businesses, I think for me, that's what I tell people persistence, hard work.
- 1:15:01[SPEAKER_02]: And then again, I said villainize and I really mean that.
- 1:15:04[SPEAKER_02]: And what I mean by villainize is like, you know,
- 1:15:08[SPEAKER_02]: One of the things about the person that you admire Donald Trump.
- 1:15:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well, okay, one of the people that one of the people that one of the people that I felt was really was really compelling about him is that he turned politics into competition.
- 1:15:31[SPEAKER_02]: He literally turned into competition.
- 1:15:32[SPEAKER_02]: It was always competition.
- 1:15:33[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_02]: Politicians used to get it both.
- 1:15:35[SPEAKER_02]: Staying to say, I'm here for better health care.
- 1:15:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm here for taxes.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm here to do this.
- 1:15:39[SPEAKER_02]: We need to have more jobs.
- 1:15:42[SPEAKER_02]: Trump got to say, I want to beat them.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care about nothing else.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_02]: I have, I don't care what the policies are.
- 1:15:50[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care what it is.
- 1:15:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's us versus them.
- 1:15:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's literally the Super Bowl of voting.
- 1:15:55[SPEAKER_02]: And so to get people to move in that fashion, you have to do one of two things.
- 1:16:00[SPEAKER_02]: You either have to make them mad enough or scared enough.
- 1:16:04[SPEAKER_02]: I say that all the time.
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_02]: Don't let them change in your life until you either mad enough or scared enough.
- 1:16:08[SPEAKER_02]: Because you could be, I say, you think you got a million problems, until you got a health problem.
- 1:16:14[SPEAKER_02]: And then you only got one problem.
- 1:16:15[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:16:18[SPEAKER_02]: So they're, oh, all this stuff I'm worried about, shoot them.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'll get my cholesterol down.
- 1:16:22[SPEAKER_02]: None of this matters.
- 1:16:23[SPEAKER_02]: basketball practice this over here when I want to do next year when my business none of that matters.
- 1:16:25[SPEAKER_02]: So that anxiety is good.
- 1:16:26[SPEAKER_02]: That that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that
- 1:16:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's a driving motivator.
- 1:16:51[SPEAKER_02]: I, but I'm saying, you got to have that, you got to have that, you got to have that, you got to have that, exactly exactly word.
- 1:16:57[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you see a little John doing somebody did something a little John somebody.
- 1:17:00[SPEAKER_02]: I'm saying Johnny the guy, I'm saying John, they need to say a look, John saying look.
- 1:17:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm tired of people calling me skinny or the doctor said too much for trauma.
- 1:17:10[SPEAKER_02]: get behind it.
- 1:17:10[SPEAKER_02]: And that's why John the last superhero right now.
- 1:17:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's the point though.
- 1:17:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm telling you, if you ask them, it's only one or two reasons.
- 1:17:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's not the inspiration.
- 1:17:18[SPEAKER_02]: I'm doing it for the number.
- 1:17:20[SPEAKER_02]: You got to be mad enough or afraid enough.
- 1:17:21[SPEAKER_02]: That's true change.
- 1:17:22[SPEAKER_02]: It fires those, it fires that fighter, that fighter flight, that Batman jumping out of the jumping out of the pit in the dark night without the rope.
- 1:17:30[SPEAKER_02]: Every time he jumped with the rope, he buses ass.
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_00]: She has a chance I got a question for you.
- 1:17:35[SPEAKER_00]: You coming back to Omefthusia?
- 1:17:38[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, listen, listen.
- 1:17:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like, Luther Chris, twenty-five year anniversary, future, dungeon family.
- 1:17:46[SPEAKER_00]: The new time, dungeon family came and performed in Atlanta.
- 1:17:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, getting my outcasts last time you ever seen them.
- 1:17:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's the first time that dungeon family ever performed all together.
- 1:17:57[SPEAKER_00]: What's the dates?
- 1:17:58[SPEAKER_00]: October twenty-fifth and twenty-six.
- 1:18:00[SPEAKER_00]: We got Kalani, Mary J. Blige, the Roots, bro.
- 1:18:03[SPEAKER_00]: Dochi.
- 1:18:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see you there too stepping with the wife.
- 1:18:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to have a problem.
- 1:18:09[SPEAKER_00]: October twenty-fifth and twenty-six.
- 1:18:13[SPEAKER_00]: So I say the twenty-six because it's twenty-fifth, you know, you got you.
- 1:18:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yo, can I set up like a stage and do a high-seat live for entrepreneurs?
- 1:18:22[SPEAKER_04]: Let's talk about it.
- 1:18:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know, people love.
- 1:18:24[SPEAKER_00]: We did it together, right?
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_00]: It was lit.
- 1:18:27[SPEAKER_04]: The first, you know, there's a couple people see it there.
- 1:18:29[SPEAKER_04]: And then I think as it go, I kept people, I kept seeing people like, look at this, like, hear it in the speakers.
- 1:18:37[SPEAKER_04]: It was like so disrespectful, I was like people can't say, and it was, it was full about something that I was gonna say.
- 1:18:43[SPEAKER_04]: So, yeah, that's pretty good.
- 1:18:44[SPEAKER_02]: I want that, I want, I want that to get, I want one music festival to get a bit bigger.
- 1:18:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because I was talking about, I was like, man, I was like, yo, I was having a conversation about essence.
- 1:18:56[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, Atlanta, Atlanta needs an essence festival, right?
- 1:19:01[SPEAKER_02]: Something that's just a little different and more, a little younger, a little bit more ASQ.
- 1:19:04[SPEAKER_02]: And somebody said, that's one music festival, I was like,
- 1:19:08[SPEAKER_02]: because one week once the rest of that stuff get built downtown, all that stuff, y'all got, it's, it's room to really activate in a way and I was like, oh yeah, I want music festival to be, I want to be bigger.
- 1:19:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:19:20[SPEAKER_02]: That's, that's, I think about that.
- 1:19:22[SPEAKER_04]: I'm locked in, I'm locked in.
- 1:19:24[SPEAKER_04]: That's, I wanna do something there.
- 1:19:25[SPEAKER_04]: Let me do something there.
- 1:19:27[SPEAKER_04]: When we do something there, or can I do like, can we have like the the on math podcasting in the back?
- 1:19:34[SPEAKER_04]: And the people that come through, I get to ask them some questions, but we'll have to go.
- 1:19:40[SPEAKER_02]: Can we announce the people that perform it next year's one music festival in the audio room on fan base like drop the names with the guests pull up like everybody put it like okay this person is going to perform and it comes in drop the names collaboration
- 1:19:58[SPEAKER_04]: Man, we got a good out here, man.
- 1:20:00[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you all so much for coming.
- 1:20:01[SPEAKER_04]: I need y'all to do me a favor right now.
- 1:20:05[SPEAKER_04]: I need you to jump in both of these gentlemen's DMs and just say thank you.
- 1:20:09[SPEAKER_04]: If there was a takeaway, if there was a bar, you can look up at Isaac A's three.
- 1:20:15[SPEAKER_04]: Isaac Hays, is Isaac Hays, I, I are three, three, right?
- 1:20:18[SPEAKER_02]: Number three.
- 1:20:19[SPEAKER_04]: Isaac Hays, number three, and at Steve Canal, S-C-E-V-E, C-A-N-A-L, right?
- 1:20:26[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I correctly went a little fast.
- 1:20:29[SPEAKER_04]: Make sure you're just jumping to DMs, just say thank you, just be appreciative.
- 1:20:33[SPEAKER_04]: I want them to know that you got some information, you got some game, and you are just throwing something blank, just give some flowers these days, man.
- 1:20:41[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you so much, man.
- 1:20:42[SPEAKER_04]: Make sure you join fan base.
- 1:20:43[SPEAKER_04]: Make sure I see one music fest and then do yourself a favor.
- 1:20:47[SPEAKER_04]: Go get you some social proof, meaning go build something and build it really, really big.
- 1:20:51[SPEAKER_04]: I need that vision to grow where you impact an entire culture, not just the community and your neighborhood, build something really, really big, but come back to your community and teach them how you did it.
- 1:21:03[SPEAKER_04]: It's the only way our community grows.
- 1:21:05[SPEAKER_04]: We are out here, please.
- 1:21:08[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 1:21:12[SPEAKER_04]: I got work to do.
