- 0:00Speaker 1: It's more more mister New York on seven ten wr.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Hey. Look for the stock market it hit fifty thousand
- 0:12Speaker 2: in the next couple hours. It will most likely happen
- 0:14Speaker 2: and setting all time records in S ANDP. But look
- 0:17Speaker 2: for the stock market to break the fifty thousand mark
- 0:20Speaker 2: before the day is over. Oil is down about eight
- 0:23Speaker 2: dollars right now. A lot going on Iran. You know,
- 0:28Speaker 2: this is a fascinating situation. By blocking the straits of Hormose,
- 0:32Speaker 2: they've completely cut off their revenue. They have no money.
- 0:39Speaker 2: It's a fascinating situation. Way back in the Iranian Revolution
- 0:44Speaker 2: in the late seventies, some of you were around back then.
- 0:46Speaker 2: The Iranian Revolution caused all kinds of you know, we
- 0:50Speaker 2: were battling Iran, the US Iran they cut off our
- 0:54Speaker 2: oil and it was terrible. We had tremendous gas shortages
- 1:00Speaker 2: in the United States. And if you around back then,
- 1:03Speaker 2: you remember there were gas lines that would go for blocks.
- 1:08Speaker 2: I mean, think about this. You had to wait in
- 1:11Speaker 2: line for gasoline, and sometimes you had to wait an
- 1:14Speaker 2: hour or two hours in line to get gas. And
- 1:18Speaker 2: back then, a big problem with people would actually run
- 1:20Speaker 2: out of gas while in the line and couldn't move
- 1:22Speaker 2: their car. It got so bad that we had to
- 1:27Speaker 2: do gas rationing. This is in nineteen seventy nine in America.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Gas rationing. And remember you had to have it was
- 1:34Speaker 2: even an odd If you had an even number at
- 1:37Speaker 2: the end of your license plate, you could only buy
- 1:38Speaker 2: gas on an even day. Odd numbers could buy on
- 1:41Speaker 2: odd days. It was unbelievable. And there were many times
- 1:46Speaker 2: with those long gas lines, the gas stations would run
- 1:49Speaker 2: out of gas and they would have these big no
- 1:52Speaker 2: gas signs they would put up. And now here's another
- 1:56Speaker 2: problem that happened back then. Back then gas was twenty
- 2:02Speaker 2: nine cents a gallon, thirty nine cents a gallon, forty
- 2:06Speaker 2: nine cents a gallon. Maybe in a crisis it could
- 2:08Speaker 2: go to sixty cents a gallon eighty cents again, so
- 2:12Speaker 2: there were only two digits on the price on the
- 2:16Speaker 2: gas pump, just two digits for the gas price. So
- 2:23Speaker 2: the price of gas went up so much. When they
- 2:26Speaker 2: cut our supply back in seventy nine and we had
- 2:31Speaker 2: so little gas, the price of gas ran up the pump.
- 2:34Speaker 2: They didn't have enough numbers on the pump. They were
- 2:37Speaker 2: unable to display a price over ninety nine cents a gallon,
- 2:41Speaker 2: so the only thing they could do was sell by
- 2:43Speaker 2: the half gallon, so you could buy a half a
- 2:45Speaker 2: gallon of gas. Back then, it was so out of Hey,
- 2:48Speaker 2: by the way, that's why they created the fifty five
- 2:52Speaker 2: mile an hour speed limit. It used to be. Was
- 2:55Speaker 2: it seventy five? Yeah, I think you go seventy Maybe
- 2:57Speaker 2: it was seventy speed limit on the highways used to be.
- 3:00Speaker 2: They reduced it to fifty five. Now people think that
- 3:03Speaker 2: was to make it safer. It was not. That was
- 3:07Speaker 2: done by the Department, by the government. That was done
- 3:11Speaker 2: in seventy nine to conserve gas. So that's why they
- 3:15Speaker 2: created the fifty five mile an hour speed them. That
- 3:17Speaker 2: was originally just a conserve gas.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Hey.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Also, this whole crisis, this led to the creation of
- 3:23Speaker 2: the US Department of Energy in nineteen seventy seven. So
- 3:28Speaker 2: here's the beauty of all this, of what's going on
- 3:30Speaker 2: in Iran right now. We have completely destroyed every We've
- 3:34Speaker 2: destroyed their military. We have got the straight of horn
- 3:38Speaker 2: Moose close, which means they have absolutely no revenue coming in.
- 3:42Speaker 2: And believe it or not, right now you're going to
- 3:44Speaker 2: love this. We have created gas lines in Iran. Remember,
- 3:51Speaker 2: we're the biggest oil producer in the world. We now
- 3:53Speaker 2: produce fourteen million barrels a day thanks to Donald Trump
- 3:58Speaker 2: and is opening up the drilling. Under Biden, we were
- 4:01Speaker 2: doing four million barrels a day. Now we're doing fourteen
- 4:04Speaker 2: million a day. That's more than anybody in the world.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Saudi Arabia only does eight million a day. So we've
- 4:10Speaker 2: actually caused gas lines in Iran. That is great. You know,
- 4:16Speaker 2: here's an interesting thing about this crazy mayor, Mom Donnie.
- 4:20Speaker 2: They had this very solemn ceremony at the World Trade
- 4:23Speaker 2: Center Memorial when Prince King Charles was here, When King
- 4:29Speaker 2: Charles was here, and it was Talaya wreath. It was
- 4:31Speaker 2: a very solemn ceremony. And Mom Donnie has no business
- 4:36Speaker 2: anywhere near any nine to eleven anything, since he pretty
- 4:40Speaker 2: much supported the other side on that. So Mayor Bloomberg
- 4:45Speaker 2: was there. Michael Bloomberg came and basically hosted. He was
- 4:48Speaker 2: the one that was with King Charles and Queen Camilla.
- 4:51Speaker 2: He was the one escorting them around. He was the
- 4:53Speaker 2: one Mayor Bloomberg, former Mayor Bloomberg. He was the one
- 4:57Speaker 2: that laid the wreath with him at the Memorial. Now
- 5:01Speaker 2: this week we had the met Gala. It's tradition that
- 5:06Speaker 2: the mayor be at the met Gala. It used to
- 5:08Speaker 2: be quite a prestigious event. It used to be the
- 5:10Speaker 2: most elegant affair with the biggest names in business and society.
- 5:16Speaker 2: In recent years it turned into basically a Halloween clown show.
- 5:19Speaker 2: It's all crazy music, artists, all the society business though
- 5:24Speaker 2: they're not there anymore. So but Mayor mom Donnie wouldn't go.
- 5:28Speaker 2: He refused to go. Yeah, it's one hundred thousand a ticket,
- 5:30Speaker 2: it's three hundred and fifty thousand a table. It's a
- 5:33Speaker 2: ridiculous elitist so he wouldn't go. They got Mayor Bloomberg
- 5:38Speaker 2: to go. They got Michael Bloomberg to come. So this
- 5:40Speaker 2: is twice now he's had to represent the city in
- 5:45Speaker 2: these kind of events. So he had to represent mom
- 5:48Speaker 2: Donnie at World Trade Center, he had to represent him
- 5:55Speaker 2: at the met Gala. So it's pretty silly mayor who
- 6:00Speaker 2: can't do his own work like the older guy, the adult,
- 6:05Speaker 2: a real mayor has to come in and fill in
- 6:06Speaker 2: for him at these things. Hey y, we had the
- 6:09Speaker 2: sad news earlier. Ted Turner passed away at the age
- 6:13Speaker 2: of eighty seven. Ted Turner. He was a fascinating guy.
- 6:20Speaker 2: He suffered from all kinds of mental things and depression
- 6:24Speaker 2: and all kinds of things. He was on all kinds
- 6:28Speaker 2: of medication for it. And I mean a couple of
- 6:30Speaker 2: times I m ced Luncheon's Dinners where he was the
- 6:34Speaker 2: speaker and we couldn't find him. We'd go backstage and
- 6:37Speaker 2: he was asleep, his head on the table in the
- 6:41Speaker 2: middle of the day. But a great guy. He created
- 6:45Speaker 2: CNN first he had He was in all kinds of businesses.
- 6:49Speaker 2: His father committed suicide and he took over the business,
- 6:54Speaker 2: which was just some sort of advertising down in the Georgia.
- 6:59Speaker 2: One of the things he inherited was a local TV station,
- 7:03Speaker 2: and he decided he'll take his little local TV station
- 7:06Speaker 2: and make it a superstation. Nobody had done anything like
- 7:09Speaker 2: that before. He called it a superstation, and he was
- 7:11Speaker 2: a great salesman, and he went around the country and
- 7:14Speaker 2: got it on all the cable systems. So suddenly his
- 7:17Speaker 2: little local TV station in Atlanta was seen nationally everywhere.
- 7:22Speaker 2: It was called WTBS Turner Broadcasting System, and back then
- 7:27Speaker 2: you could watch WTBS or TBS or whatever they called it.
- 7:32Speaker 2: This little superstation was on your cable system wherever you were,
- 7:36Speaker 2: and they had unbelievably great programming. Why they had leave
- 7:40Speaker 2: it to beaver reruns in the middle of the day.
- 7:43Speaker 2: It was great stuff. So he became very successful with that,
- 7:47Speaker 2: and then in nineteen eighty one eighty two, he decided
- 7:50Speaker 2: to create a cable network that would be all news
- 7:55Speaker 2: twenty four to seven. Now, remember this is hard to imagine,
- 7:58Speaker 2: but before that, before nineteen eighty two, if you wanted
- 8:02Speaker 2: to watch the news on TV, you put on the
- 8:05Speaker 2: local news at six o'clock and the network news at
- 8:08Speaker 2: six thirty, and you could watch the local news at
- 8:11Speaker 2: eleven at night, and that was it. That was the
- 8:14Speaker 2: news on TV. There was no other place you could
- 8:16Speaker 2: go on television anywhere to get the news. And during
- 8:20Speaker 2: the day when you're watching the soap operas in the
- 8:22Speaker 2: game show, sometimes at the end of the hour, right
- 8:26Speaker 2: before the hour they'd have, they'd cut away for like
- 8:29Speaker 2: a minute update or NBC News update with Edwin Newman,
- 8:34Speaker 2: or who's the woman Nancy Dickerson a little one minute
- 8:37Speaker 2: Updore that was it. There was no other place to
- 8:40Speaker 2: get news on TV. So when he decided he would
- 8:44Speaker 2: do a twenty four hour day news network. Everybody told
- 8:47Speaker 2: him he was crazy. There's not enough news to do.
- 8:51Speaker 2: What are you going to do all day? I mean,
- 8:53Speaker 2: look at the Huntley Brinkley, look at the Walter Cronckett.
- 8:56Speaker 2: The half hour. They give you all the news. What
- 8:58Speaker 2: are you gonna do the rest of the day. How
- 8:59Speaker 2: you going to fill the other twenty three hours? So
- 9:02Speaker 2: it seemed, but he always said, they do it on
- 9:05Speaker 2: the radio. They got WIS in New York, WCBS to
- 9:08Speaker 2: get to these all news stations in various cities do
- 9:12Speaker 2: very well. So that's where he got the idea to
- 9:15Speaker 2: do that twenty four hours a day, and CNN debuted.
- 9:21Speaker 2: There was CNN, it was the cable news network. It
- 9:25Speaker 2: seemed crazy. In eighty two. The original anchors were remember
- 9:28Speaker 2: Bernard Shaw and you know, I can't remember the names.
- 9:33Speaker 2: They were all the original anchors, and it did nothing
- 9:37Speaker 2: but twenty four to seven news. They got lucky because
- 9:40Speaker 2: a couple of things happened, bigger news events happened, so
- 9:44Speaker 2: it was just luck. They were major Africa of the
- 9:46Speaker 2: original major news stories where it did very very well
- 9:49Speaker 2: with those, and then they got the idea at nine
- 9:52Speaker 2: o'clock at night, We'll break from the news do a
- 9:53Speaker 2: talk show at nine o'clock at night. And they hired
- 9:56Speaker 2: doctor Sonya what was her name, doctor Sonya Friedman. I think, yeah,
- 10:01Speaker 2: she's like a radio psychologist TV second. So she did
- 10:04Speaker 2: a nine o'clock show and it was pretty successful. But
- 10:09Speaker 2: this is one of those cases, this happens at broadcasting
- 10:11Speaker 2: where she decides, my husband will be my agent, which
- 10:15Speaker 2: you never want to do. That never works. That's always
- 10:17Speaker 2: a disaster. That's how Suzanne Summers couldn't stay on two's
- 10:22Speaker 2: company or three's company. You want a real agent. You
- 10:25Speaker 2: want the William Morris office, our CIA and professional agents.
- 10:30Speaker 2: They know these executives at the network. They deal with
- 10:32Speaker 2: them all the time. They can work together. You bring
- 10:35Speaker 2: in your husband. He gets into a fight with Ted Turner.
- 10:37Speaker 2: He's yelling at Ted Turner. He's threatening Ted Turner. Well,
- 10:42Speaker 2: Ted Turner knew the radio host Larry King. He had
- 10:45Speaker 2: been on a show a lot. He thought Larry King
- 10:47Speaker 2: was pretty good. So he called Larry King right after
- 10:50Speaker 2: the husband is yelling and leaves his office. He said, hey, Larry,
- 10:55Speaker 2: could you do a nine o'clock TV talk show for
- 10:57Speaker 2: an hour? Every night, and Larry was stunned. He goes, well,
- 11:01Speaker 2: when would you want me to start? He goes, like tomorrow.
- 11:04Speaker 2: He goes, I can't stand this, husband, I got a fire.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I just want to throw her off the air immediately
- 11:09Speaker 2: and put somebody else on. So it was tough for
- 11:13Speaker 2: Larry King to because he's already doing that late night
- 11:15Speaker 2: radio show. But they he offered him a lot of money.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Larry King did it, and it became Now, remember there's
- 11:21Speaker 2: no Fox, there's no MSNBC, there's nothing else on, no
- 11:24Speaker 2: other cable news. It was just Larry King all alone
- 11:26Speaker 2: at nine o'clock at night. It became so big that show.
- 11:30Speaker 2: It had millions and millions of viewers, and it was
- 11:35Speaker 2: anything and everything. One night it was George Burns, the
- 11:37Speaker 2: next night it was Ted Kennedy. It could be anything.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Next night it'd be a show on abortion it was.
- 11:45Speaker 2: And then Bill Clinton is running for president and he
- 11:49Speaker 2: becomes a takes the lead just by doing Larry King.
- 11:52Speaker 2: There was the famous ross perrot al gore to became
- 11:55Speaker 2: the biggest thing. Presidents would do this show. World leaders
- 11:59Speaker 2: would come undue Larry King. It was unbelievable. Now years
- 12:03Speaker 2: later they would create Fox and msnbcing it be Hannity,
- 12:07Speaker 2: Rachel Maddow and Larry King. It couldn't compete against him,
- 12:10Speaker 2: so they eventually dropped the show. But he had an
- 12:12Speaker 2: incredible run for twenty something years. But good for Ted Turner.
- 12:17Speaker 2: He created all of that. It was an amazing thing. Hey,
- 12:20Speaker 2: speaking of television, Stephen Colbert is going off the air.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Do you know what it is? Two weeks May twenty first,
- 12:29Speaker 2: you're in the final two weeks, Stephen Colbert. This awful
- 12:32Speaker 2: cancer on America, this hate filled, nasty, wormy guy with
- 12:36Speaker 2: the glasses. He's going off the air in two weeks.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Remember when Johnny Carson announced he was leaving. It was
- 12:42Speaker 2: the final year, and every major star in the world
- 12:45Speaker 2: came back to do one more Carson. It was a
- 12:48Speaker 2: year of superstars. Well, this will be two weeks. They
- 12:52Speaker 2: got Obama, He's going to do it. That's about it.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I'm looking at the list here. Sally Field. Enough, seventy
- 13:01Speaker 2: five percent of the audience is not going to know
- 13:03Speaker 2: who she is. But okay, she was Gidget, the Sally
- 13:07Speaker 2: Field Bert Reynolds, she was the flying nun. But I
- 13:10Speaker 2: don't think they're going to talk about that but again,
- 13:13Speaker 2: I don't think that seems to be the guest list
- 13:15Speaker 2: so far. They can't get any big names. I'm sure
- 13:18Speaker 2: you'll see George Clooney in those types. But Colbert May
- 13:22Speaker 2: twenty first will be the final light, apparently preparing some
- 13:25Speaker 2: sort of emotional final show. So we'll see. It's May
- 13:29Speaker 2: twenty first, it's only two weeks from now. That'll be
- 13:32Speaker 2: the actually two weeks from tomorrow, that'll be the end
- 13:34Speaker 2: of Colbert. Hey, the Rolling Stones have a new album
- 13:38Speaker 2: coming out. It's called Foreign Tongues. They had a big
- 13:41Speaker 2: event yesterday in Brooklyn, all of them on stage taking questions.
- 13:46Speaker 2: The audience mostly media, radio people, a lot of iHeart there,
- 13:50Speaker 2: Jim Kerr, Maria Muldo, Carol Miller, all those people were there.
- 13:57Speaker 2: So it's twenty twenty six. Now, these guys are like
- 14:00Speaker 2: ninety five. We love the Rolling Stones. I know Q
- 14:05Speaker 2: one oh four, which is the biggest classic rock station
- 14:07Speaker 2: in the world, right down the hall. I'm sure they'll
- 14:09Speaker 2: play this, but I don't know who's going to play
- 14:12Speaker 2: this album nowadays. You know, if this were nineteen seventy six,
- 14:18Speaker 2: they'd be on Z one hundred, they'd be on ninety
- 14:20Speaker 2: nine xt they'd be on everything. But I don't know.
- 14:24Speaker 2: So they're releasing the single. I don't even know who's
- 14:30Speaker 2: going to play the album the single. Who's going to
- 14:32Speaker 2: play the single? The single is called something Stars? What
- 14:36Speaker 2: the hell is it called in the stars? Because I
- 14:38Speaker 2: think that are magnificent. Do you like the lyrics? I
- 14:42Speaker 2: don't know either. I can't tell one thing they're singing.
- 14:45Speaker 2: All right, let's be on. It sounds great, it's really good.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Doesn't sound like twenty twenty six. I don't know. If
- 14:55Speaker 2: you didn't know who this was, if I didn't say
- 14:57Speaker 2: Rolling Stones, if I just took this audio down down
- 15:00Speaker 2: the hall, that's the one hundred, the program director is
- 15:02Speaker 2: right there, the music director. I said, hey, listen to this.
- 15:06Speaker 2: You think he'd say, oh, we got to put that
- 15:08Speaker 2: on there. I don't know who's going to play this,
- 15:09Speaker 2: But the thing I noticed, you go back the old
- 15:12Speaker 2: Rolling Stones boy, that Mick Jagger voice was so clear
- 15:16Speaker 2: and so prominent. But you know, when you get to
- 15:19Speaker 2: be what is he ninety eight? When you get to
- 15:20Speaker 2: be older, the voice isn't quite there? Is it me?
- 15:23Speaker 2: Or are they bringing up the instrumental tracks to cover
- 15:25Speaker 2: the voice up?
- 15:26Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 15:27Speaker 2: They seem to be bearing his voice. That's not the
- 15:28Speaker 2: mix they would have used thirty years ago. You know
- 15:31Speaker 2: the other problem they got. We go down the hall
- 15:34Speaker 2: to some of these these we have all the top
- 15:36Speaker 2: music station of the world down there, and the greatest DJs.
- 15:38Speaker 2: But they're twenty seven, they're twenty nine, they're thirty two.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I don't know if they know who the Rolling Stones are.
- 15:46Speaker 2: We could go out on the street and stop people
- 15:48Speaker 2: under thirty, stop people under thirty five. I don't know
- 15:51Speaker 2: if they know who the Rolling Stones are. But it's
- 15:53Speaker 2: good stuff. We'll see. I hope they do well anyway. Hey,
- 15:57Speaker 2: we'll take some calls. Next. Eight hundred three two one
- 16:01Speaker 2: zero seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three two
- 16:05Speaker 2: one zero seven ten.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Wow, you're listening to the Mark Simone show on wo R.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Hey, let's take some calls. Eight hundred three two one
- 16:18Speaker 2: zero seven ten is them. Let's go to Howard in
- 16:21Speaker 2: North Carolina. Howard, how you doing doing great?
- 16:24Speaker 3: Mark, glad to speak with you. I'm just curious on
- 16:27Speaker 3: the Rolling Stones. Back in the day, maybe at Studio
- 16:30Speaker 3: fifty four, did you ever run into Micker known of
- 16:32Speaker 3: those guys?
- 16:32Speaker 2: Yeah, no, no, all the time, well even in recent years. Yeah,
- 16:35Speaker 2: Mickjagger's all a big part of New York. He spends
- 16:38Speaker 2: a lot of time in New York. He's the only
- 16:40Speaker 2: Rolling Stone I know. The other guys I don't know
- 16:42Speaker 2: at all, but the one of them, well, Keith Richards
- 16:45Speaker 2: lives in Connecticut. It's been living in Connecticut for like
- 16:48Speaker 2: forty years.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Right, right, Well, great, love your show, Mark, Let's all
- 16:52Speaker 3: time have a great one.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Thanks. Thanks. Yeah, yeah, Mick Jagger had an apartment. I
- 16:57Speaker 2: think he still does. Right. I don't want to say where,
- 16:58Speaker 2: but it's all block from where I'm sitting right now.
- 17:02Speaker 2: And uh, you don't one thing about the Stones. You
- 17:05Speaker 2: remember when the album Some Girls came out, that was
- 17:07Speaker 2: what was that late seventies really captured the field of
- 17:11Speaker 2: New York back then, the gritty, gritty New York streets,
- 17:14Speaker 2: and you know, for guys from England, it captured better
- 17:18Speaker 2: than most US bands did. Let's go to Harriet in Brooklyn. Harriet,
- 17:22Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 17:23Speaker 1: God bless you. You're a great patriot. Thank you for
- 17:25Speaker 1: your service. God blessed Donald Trump. Barack who said thank
- 17:29Speaker 1: you for my service. Yeah, you're you're a patriot. You're
- 17:33Speaker 1: a patriot. You're you're a supporter of Donna J.
- 17:35Speaker 5: Trump.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I love you?
- 17:36Speaker 2: What service? Where did I serve?
- 17:39Speaker 1: You're serving the United States of America with your patriotism?
- 17:42Speaker 1: You mind our great president. This is what important. We
- 17:45Speaker 1: need patriots. And he're like, how we car and you're great, Harriet.
- 17:49Speaker 2: We love you. But you're getting a little carried away?
- 17:51Speaker 2: There are you?
- 17:54Speaker 3: There?
- 17:56Speaker 2: Did you go away?
- 17:57Speaker 1: That man, daddy is an extraordinary talent. Well we have
- 18:04Speaker 1: he's the first Muslim Brotherhood president, a disgrace to the nation.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Lack. I don't know. He wasn't born in the country.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I don't think he can be president. He wants to
- 18:12Speaker 2: be governor one day.
- 18:14Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, yeah, but Barack Barack Obama is stating
- 18:19Speaker 1: that he's an extraordinary talent. Man, Danny. You see, that's
- 18:22Speaker 1: the damn and the man. Dammy, it's not Danny. Yeah,
- 18:25Speaker 1: he's creating the city of the damn here.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Yeah all right, Harriet, well, great call, thanks for calling.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Let me just explain Obama. He's been gone for a
- 18:32Speaker 2: while under the radar. He was getting paid a fortune,
- 18:35Speaker 2: a fortune by Netflix and all the book deal he
- 18:38Speaker 2: was making. He made himself one hundreds of millions of dollars. Well,
- 18:41Speaker 2: that kind of all stopped. Now you're all of a
- 18:44Speaker 2: sudden seeing Obama all over the place. The reason for
- 18:46Speaker 2: that is a he wants to be relevant again, but
- 18:50Speaker 2: he also wants to make some more money. So that's
- 18:52Speaker 2: why he's all over Mom Donnie. You know, during the campaign,
- 18:56Speaker 2: Mom Donnie kept calling Obama for support and Obama never
- 18:59Speaker 2: would answer. But now that he's mayor obob it's all
- 19:04Speaker 2: over him. He's going to be for all the big, big, big,
- 19:08Speaker 2: big corporations and may want to hand him millions of dollars.
- 19:12Speaker 2: He's trying to act like he's very connected to anything,
- 19:15Speaker 2: you know, so he can get anything done with Mom Donnie.
- 19:18Speaker 2: His guy, David Aclearod was over in the Vatican meeting
- 19:20Speaker 2: with the Pope. That he's signaling all the big corporations
- 19:23Speaker 2: you need anything done, I'm your guy. That's what Bill
- 19:26Speaker 2: Clinton did when he got out of office. Billionaires corporations
- 19:30Speaker 2: would pay Clinton millions and millions and millions to help
- 19:34Speaker 2: them get deals. And if they were having trouble in
- 19:37Speaker 2: India they couldn't get their power plant deal approved, they'd
- 19:42Speaker 2: pay Clinton millions, get on a plane with him, fly
- 19:44Speaker 2: over to India because he knew the Prime Minister, he
- 19:46Speaker 2: knew all the people there. He could walk you right
- 19:48Speaker 2: into their office. Let's go to Lenny in Long Island. Lenny,
- 19:51Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 19:53Speaker 6: Yeah? I'm doing good.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Mark.
- 19:55Speaker 6: Hey, I got a message for Mick Jagger and Rolling Stones.
- 19:59Speaker 4: Yeah, couple, it's all over now. Time is not on
- 20:02Speaker 4: their side.
- 20:03Speaker 6: And I get no satisfaction from that.
- 20:05Speaker 2: No single All right, where are you in Long Island?
- 20:08Speaker 2: I'm in ronkonk oh Okay. Hey, speaking of Long Island,
- 20:12Speaker 2: there's a great restaurant, Posto Pozzo. I love to eat there.
- 20:15Speaker 2: It's in Huntington. The best pizza anyway. The one of
- 20:19Speaker 2: the Joey Patron, Luigi Patron is the other brother. He's
- 20:23Speaker 2: in news Day yesterday. Apparently Luigi was eating at Peter
- 20:27Speaker 2: Luger when a customer at another table started choking to death.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Luigi and his friend got up and gave the guy
- 20:35Speaker 2: the Heimlich maneuver. Saved his life. I've had to do
- 20:39Speaker 2: that in a restaurant. Saved somebody's life with the Heimlich maneuver.
- 20:43Speaker 2: The place where the most dangerous is a steakhouse, because
- 20:46Speaker 2: when that steak gets stuck there but good for him.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Let's go to Greg in New Jersey, Greg and Jersey City, Greg,
- 20:54Speaker 2: how you doing by doing good?
- 20:56Speaker 3: Mark?
- 20:57Speaker 6: Just to correct you, the first C and M primetime
- 20:59Speaker 6: host his name was Sandy Freeman.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Oh you're right, you're right, so I say, I said,
- 21:04Speaker 2: Sonya Friedman.
- 21:05Speaker 6: Yeah, Freedman had a morning show. I'm seeing that. But
- 21:08Speaker 6: Freeman was the first from eighty to eighty five. And
- 21:11Speaker 6: you were right. She did have you know, the contract
- 21:14Speaker 6: was pulled from she got, you know, the details where
- 21:17Speaker 6: you know they say they hadn't greased.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Well, I got the details from Ted Turner himself and
- 21:21Speaker 2: from Larry King. Yeah, he just said. And Larry was
- 21:24Speaker 2: thinking about it, and he said, when would I starty?
- 21:27Speaker 2: It was like tomorrow. I got to get this woman
- 21:28Speaker 2: out of here, he said. He actually said, I can't
- 21:30Speaker 2: use the language. He said. I want to do it
- 21:33Speaker 2: just to screw that husband completely. So never let your
- 21:37Speaker 2: wife or your husband be your agent. It never works.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Let's go to Walker in Jersey City. Walker, how you doing?
- 21:43Speaker 7: I'm doing great? Mark?
- 21:45Speaker 2: Uh?
- 21:45Speaker 7: You know, I I just was was thinking about Ted Turner.
- 21:50Speaker 7: And when Ted Turner was interviewed in Playboy, they questioned
- 21:55Speaker 7: him because he did not have the coverage of Reagan
- 21:59Speaker 7: being shot. And it was a great response because Ted
- 22:02Speaker 7: Turner said, yeah, we were our crew was inside covering
- 22:05Speaker 7: his speech, and that's why we didn't have him. That's
- 22:08Speaker 7: why we didn't. We weren't out there when he got shot.
- 22:11Speaker 2: And yeah, it was a very primitive network when it started. Hey,
- 22:16Speaker 2: we got to take a break for the news. We'll
- 22:18Speaker 2: take some more calls next and we got a lot
- 22:20Speaker 2: to talk about coming up. Eight hundred three to two
- 22:23Speaker 2: one zero seven tenants the number one. Welcome back to
- 22:28Speaker 2: the Mark Simone Show.
- 22:30Speaker 3: You are.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Hey, we'll take some calls in a minute. Eight hundred
- 22:35Speaker 2: three to two one zero seven tenants the number and
- 22:38Speaker 2: culter not here today, should be back next week. So
- 22:42Speaker 2: you know, Charlie Sheen was a real Hollywood left wing democrat,
- 22:47Speaker 2: super liberal. Charlie Sheen. It's interesting if you read the book,
- 22:51Speaker 2: he just wrote, something happened. He was like stuck in
- 22:54Speaker 2: bed or sick. I don't know. He's like depressed. I
- 22:58Speaker 2: don't know. He's like in bed for a wee and
- 23:01Speaker 2: he starts he's just watching TV. He starts watching newsmas
- 23:05Speaker 2: and being a left wing Hollywood you know, fake news Kook.
- 23:10Speaker 2: He had never seen like real news before, like the
- 23:12Speaker 2: actual new news. He starts watching Fox. He starts watching
- 23:16Speaker 2: Newsmas and he said, Ray says it in the book.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Is I realized I wasn't getting the whole story. The
- 23:22Speaker 2: fake news was hiding things from me, not telling me everything.
- 23:25Speaker 2: He said, I really like Newsmax And he said, I
- 23:27Speaker 2: just kept watching it, and I said, I really was
- 23:31Speaker 2: felt very close to these anchors, you know, the two robs.
- 23:34Speaker 2: And he said, Greg Kelly, I really like Greg Kelly.
- 23:36Speaker 2: And uh so, it is possible to cure a Hollywood
- 23:42Speaker 2: liberal with Trump's arrangement syndrome. It doesn't happen office often,
- 23:45Speaker 2: but you can cure him. Hey, Cash Pttel in the
- 23:49Speaker 2: new podcast with Sean Hannity reveals a lot of stuff
- 23:53Speaker 2: our FBI director now that he's in charge, and he
- 23:56Speaker 2: is going through the whole building. As we said yesterday,
- 23:59Speaker 2: he found secret room where they hid all the Russia stuff.
- 24:04Speaker 2: You know, they created this whole fake Russia hoax, Russian collusion.
- 24:07Speaker 2: It was all made up. It was all fake. You
- 24:09Speaker 2: can see it in a lot of documents. So apparently
- 24:12Speaker 2: they put those documents in burn bags so they could
- 24:15Speaker 2: be destroyed. Instantly, But they had him in a room,
- 24:18Speaker 2: a secret room that wasn't even on the blueprint of
- 24:20Speaker 2: the building. As FBI director, he kept searching and searching.
- 24:24Speaker 2: He found this room. So you may see some stuff
- 24:27Speaker 2: come out of this. They might start to reveal some
- 24:29Speaker 2: documents showing out this would be under James Comby's watch,
- 24:35Speaker 2: Christopher Ray, total corruption with this little part of the FBI,
- 24:40Speaker 2: with this Russia hoax. But you might see this stuff
- 24:43Speaker 2: start to come out. Hey, speaking of Trump derangement syndrome.
- 24:48Speaker 2: The great hospital in Los Angeles, Cedar Sinai Hospital. So
- 24:52Speaker 2: there's a nurse, male nurse Matthew Schaeffer, who put up
- 24:57Speaker 2: this awful on his Twitter, awful thing about Trump should
- 25:01Speaker 2: have been assassination, should have been assassinated. How come the
- 25:04Speaker 2: assassin missed again? Why do they keep missing? Who's hiring
- 25:08Speaker 2: these people? Up your game? Let's get better assassins. Terrible
- 25:12Speaker 2: thing to post. Cedar Sinai released a statement social media
- 25:17Speaker 2: postings of individual staff members do not reflect the views
- 25:20Speaker 2: or positions of Cedar's side. I don't know, do you
- 25:24Speaker 2: fire the guy because he posted that. I mean, these
- 25:26Speaker 2: are a lot of left wing kooks that save this stuff.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I don't know. Can you fire him for that? You'd
- 25:31Speaker 2: have to fire a lot of people. He could fire
- 25:34Speaker 2: him just for having bad judgment. I mean, I mean,
- 25:36Speaker 2: find if you have Trump arrangement syndrome, but don't post
- 25:39Speaker 2: things like that. Now there's an employee at the FAA
- 25:42Speaker 2: Federal Aviation Administration. They just arrested this guy. Apparently he
- 25:47Speaker 2: was thinking of becoming a presidential assassin. He's thirty five.
- 25:52Speaker 2: He was on Google looking up all kinds of things
- 25:55Speaker 2: for an assassination attempt. His searches included to smuggle a
- 26:00Speaker 2: firearm into a federal facility. He was studying previous assassination
- 26:05Speaker 2: attempts targeting Trump very carefully going on. And you know, obviously,
- 26:12Speaker 2: if you got arrested, you're the Gilgo Beach killer. They're
- 26:18Speaker 2: gonna get your computer. They're gonna come in with a warrant,
- 26:20Speaker 2: take your computer, and they're gonna see what you searched
- 26:22Speaker 2: on your computer. But what you may not know. In
- 26:25Speaker 2: a lot of cases, they can just go to Google
- 26:28Speaker 2: and see who's searching things. They don't even have to
- 26:30Speaker 2: know who you are. They could go to Google and say,
- 26:33Speaker 2: let's see everybody that searched how to make a bomb,
- 26:36Speaker 2: and they can track down people that way. So just
- 26:40Speaker 2: pare that in mind when you make a Google search
- 26:43Speaker 2: it sometimes they're checking those Google searches to see exactly
- 26:47Speaker 2: who made them. Let's take some calls with go to
- 26:49Speaker 2: Brian Greenwich, Connecticut. Brian, how you doing, Hey, Mark?
- 26:54Speaker 4: Oh yeah, great show.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Thanks, So.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Got a quick Nick Jagger story was running catering up
- 27:01Speaker 4: at the Waldorf back in the eighties, and Nick was
- 27:04Speaker 4: introducing the Beatles. So Ron Delsner, who you know, he goes, yeah,
- 27:09Speaker 4: he called me kid. He goes, Kid, you gotta go
- 27:11Speaker 4: picnic up down by the Bull and Bear. So I said, okay,
- 27:14Speaker 4: So I go down and picnic up.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Bull and Bear's the restaurant downstairs in the lobby, yes.
- 27:19Speaker 6: Sir, yep.
- 27:20Speaker 4: And so I take him to the room's already sort
- 27:23Speaker 4: of full, and I'm in the ballroom. Elevators and they
- 27:26Speaker 4: go really really slow. So I said, hey, Nick, I
- 27:29Speaker 4: know you heard a million stories. Going to give you
- 27:30Speaker 4: a quick but my grandmother was a chambermaid at the
- 27:33Speaker 4: Pierre Hotel, and you guys used to stay at the
- 27:36Speaker 4: Pierre when you were touring. And she said at dinner
- 27:39Speaker 4: table on Sundays. She always said, you'd leave a five
- 27:42Speaker 4: dollar tip on the pillow. And Mick Jagger sees such
- 27:45Speaker 4: a nice young man, as Grandma said.
- 27:47Speaker 6: So I told him the story and he looks at me.
- 27:48Speaker 6: He goes, NT. That's that's nothing, right, mate, but a
- 27:51Speaker 6: great story.
- 27:52Speaker 4: So anyway, that's my story. I brought him up to
- 27:54Speaker 4: the stage.
- 27:55Speaker 2: It's an okay story. I think he was spending a
- 27:57Speaker 2: little nice to you show us what a nice guy is.
- 28:00Speaker 2: He pretended to be thrilled by that story.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Yeah. So I want to invite you up to my band,
- 28:06Speaker 4: the Band of Brothers Mark playing at the Cornell You're
- 28:09Speaker 4: playing where on Saturday? At at Cornell University?
- 28:13Speaker 2: Oh? Where's that in Ithaca?
- 28:15Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 28:17Speaker 2: Yeah, So if anybody wants to drive six hours to
- 28:19Speaker 2: see this.
- 28:23Speaker 6: It'll be worth the wait.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Yeah. But I'll send you the video one of these days.
- 28:28Speaker 4: We've got a good band, great band alllumni guys.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Oh that's great. Thanks, I really appreciate it.
- 28:35Speaker 5: Jeez.
- 28:38Speaker 2: There's these bands. They're all over the suburbs, every suburban
- 28:42Speaker 2: every Thursday night they banned, they got and they think
- 28:47Speaker 2: they're phenomenal. But anyway, let's go to Tim and White
- 28:51Speaker 2: plains Tim, how you doing good?
- 28:54Speaker 5: Mark, just wondering why the president. Every time it seems
- 28:58Speaker 5: that he's doing something that works, the Iranians say they
- 29:01Speaker 5: want to negotiate, and then he stops and lets them
- 29:04Speaker 5: off the hook, and they keep dragging things on and
- 29:07Speaker 5: on and on. They're like the Knight in the Monty
- 29:10Speaker 5: Python movie where can Art the cuts off the right arm,
- 29:13Speaker 5: the left arm, the right leg, the left leg, and
- 29:15Speaker 5: then the vanquished Night is on the ground with no
- 29:19Speaker 5: arms and no legs, and he says, okay, okay, we'll
- 29:21Speaker 5: call it a draw.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Well, yeah, the President does seem to be taking way
- 29:26Speaker 2: too I think they're deliberately taking way too long. They're
- 29:29Speaker 2: taking as long as they can deliberately because with the
- 29:32Speaker 2: straight closed, Iran has no revenue. Their economy is it
- 29:35Speaker 2: a complete standstill. Worse than that, it's shut and they're
- 29:38Speaker 2: shut down the entire range of economy. Now, this is
- 29:41Speaker 2: two months of the straight close. They're just about out
- 29:43Speaker 2: of cash. In fact, some people think they got another
- 29:45Speaker 2: week or so and then they can't make payroll. There's
- 29:49Speaker 2: already tremendous problems in Iran with no revenue coming in.
- 29:53Speaker 2: So the longer we can stretch this out the better. Hey,
- 29:58Speaker 2: Ted Turner, as we mentioned, passed away eighty seven years old.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Massive tributes obviously on CNN, but even Fox everybody else.
- 30:05Speaker 2: You'll see it throughout the day. Tributes to Ted Turner.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Remember he has a big ranch in Montana. Spent a
- 30:12Speaker 2: lot of time there, massive ranch in Montana where he
- 30:15Speaker 2: raised buffalo and he was a big you know how
- 30:19Speaker 2: all of a sudden people started eating buffalo steak and
- 30:21Speaker 2: buffalo That was really Ted Turner in the eighties that
- 30:23Speaker 2: started pushing that. You know, he still has a restaurant.
- 30:26Speaker 2: It's right over there, is it? Fifty second near Rockefeller Center.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Ted Turner's buffalo restaurant is still there. There are some
- 30:35Speaker 2: people that swear by buffalo meat. I've tried it. I
- 30:39Speaker 2: would swear at it, not for it. But if you
- 30:42Speaker 2: want to try Ted Turner's restaurant, it's still there. Hey's
- 30:45Speaker 2: speaking of which, Delta Airlines announced no more snacks on
- 30:49Speaker 2: the short flights. If it's under three hundred and fifty miles,
- 30:54Speaker 2: no snacks, and apparently passengers are all up in arms.
- 30:58Speaker 2: They said, well, I'm not going to take Delta, We're
- 31:00Speaker 2: going to take another airline. If it's three hundred and
- 31:02Speaker 2: fifty miles. What's that? That's about thirty five minute flight?
- 31:06Speaker 2: Forty minute flight. Are you telling me you can't go
- 31:10Speaker 2: thirty five minutes without a bag of potato chips? You
- 31:13Speaker 2: know you don't really need that snack cart on the
- 31:18Speaker 2: Delta Airlines. But you can bring your own pretzels, you
- 31:21Speaker 2: can bring your own potato chips, you can bring your
- 31:24Speaker 2: own doritos. You don't have to depend on them if
- 31:27Speaker 2: you don't want to. Let's go to Joe in Elmwood Park. Joe,
- 31:32Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Good morning Mark, Good morning Vincent.
- 31:35Speaker 7: Not to change gears? When is Nick surely going to
- 31:38Speaker 7: come to New Jersey because things.
- 31:39Speaker 6: Are still with the fraud, things are still way at
- 31:42Speaker 6: a way out of the Yeah.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Nick surely's the young twenty something, young reporter, brilliant guy
- 31:47Speaker 2: who went to a Minnesota uncovered billions in fraud that
- 31:51Speaker 2: nobody else knew about. He then went to California. He's
- 31:55Speaker 2: looking at fraud there. They think the fraud is in
- 31:57Speaker 2: the tens of billions. Apparently Ohio is on the list
- 32:02Speaker 2: they want to do Ohio. You could do this in
- 32:03Speaker 2: every state. I don't think New Jersey is just made
- 32:07Speaker 2: for fraud. I mean it's all fraud. I'm talking about
- 32:09Speaker 2: government and government programs and all of that. It's just
- 32:12Speaker 2: NonStop fraud. That'd be a lot for Nick. Sure, you
- 32:15Speaker 2: know that's the problem. Actually, President Trump has signed JD.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Vance to be the government guy looking into all this fraud,
- 32:24Speaker 2: but he should probably team up with Nick Shirley talk
- 32:27Speaker 2: to him, so eventually they'll get on it. It's going
- 32:30Speaker 2: to take a while, but eventually they'll start to You know,
- 32:32Speaker 2: if he cured all this fraud, government wiste, fraud bloat,
- 32:37Speaker 2: you'd free up literally two or three trillion dollars that
- 32:39Speaker 2: we could have back. That's all tax payer money. Your
- 32:43Speaker 2: taxes could be cut in half if you got rid
- 32:44Speaker 2: of all the waste and fraud. Hey, I'll be on
- 32:47Speaker 2: cudload tonight actually this afternoon, four to five on the
- 32:51Speaker 2: Fox Business Network, So be sure to watch that. And
- 32:54Speaker 2: you know, Curtis is back. Curtis Lee, what is now back?
- 32:56Speaker 2: He's here every weekday, Curtly Larry Mente six to ten
- 33:01Speaker 2: on seven to ten WR in Mark on Demand by
- 33:06Speaker 2: setting a preset for his podcast on the iHeartRadio app.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Now back to Mark Simone on war.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Well Hey, stock market way up today, way up, oiled down,
- 33:22Speaker 2: dropping about seven points today. What else is going on?
- 33:27Speaker 2: The Republicans had huge victory yesterday Ohio and Indiana primaries.
- 33:32Speaker 2: There were a whole bunch of seats that Trump really
- 33:35Speaker 2: wanted and campaigned for those people, and there was some
- 33:39Speaker 2: anti Trump Republicans he wanted out. Well, everybody he backed.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Everybody won yesterday, some of them huge one but fifty percent,
- 33:49Speaker 2: so massive victory for the Trump people. Yes to say,
- 33:54Speaker 2: you won't hear about this anywhere. You remember when the
- 33:56Speaker 2: Republicans would lose a seat in Florida. Recent leaders front
- 34:00Speaker 2: page news lead story. This story will will be the
- 34:03Speaker 2: most underreported story of the year. Uh. Anyway, we're out
- 34:06Speaker 2: of time. I'll be back tomorrow ten to noon. I'll
- 34:09Speaker 2: talk to you then on seven to ten. Woos
