- 0:00Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food. Freshly
- 0:05Speaker 1: made with Reburger.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Oh, g'day, you mad bastards. Great to have your company
- 0:19Speaker 2: this glorious Friday afternoon. It is the 23rd of October, 2026.
- 0:25Speaker 2: And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show,
- 0:28Speaker 2: brought to you by Reburgure.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options available. Reburgure are redefining
- 0:34Speaker 1: the norm.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Reburgure.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Yummy.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Speaking of yummy, g'day Mogi, you stallion, you Greek god,
- 0:42Speaker 2: how's life?
- 0:43Speaker 3: Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of
- 0:46Speaker 3: a bee. Look, it's an absolute ripper here in Auckland,
- 0:49Speaker 3: isn't it? I hate to sort of start the show
- 0:51Speaker 3: by saying that spring has sprung, but... I think it
- 0:54Speaker 3: genuinely has, and I was riding around. Is there anything
- 0:57Speaker 3: better than riding around the city, beautiful sunny day, on
- 1:01Speaker 3: your mum's step-through e-bike?
- 1:05Speaker 2: I saw you on it for the first time yesterday.
- 1:07Speaker 2: You looked hot, mate.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Thanks, mate.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Amazing spectacle.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Thank you for pointing out that the back tyre was
- 1:12Speaker 3: a bit flat.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I've pumped it up now.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah, good stuff, mate.
- 1:16Speaker 3: You've got great guns. How are you, Keezy, man?
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yeah, great. It's a beautiful day, Mogi, and it's great
- 1:22Speaker 1: to hear that today you were once again Mummy's Bike Mogi,
- 1:26Speaker 1: sitting side saddle on your mum's old e-bike. That's really nice.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Do you know I pushed the wrong, there was a
- 1:31Speaker 3: switch there. I thought, ooh, a little lever there on
- 1:33Speaker 3: the handlebar hanging off. I was like, I don't know
- 1:34Speaker 3: what that is. So I flicked it there, and the
- 1:37Speaker 3: seat plummeted down. Oh, God. I dropped out of the
- 1:41Speaker 3: sky there. And so rather than adjusting it at the seat,
- 1:44Speaker 3: which you would think you do, there's a lever that
- 1:46Speaker 3: does it. God, I look like an absolute.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 1: What, on your mum's pushbike? Nah, I don't believe that.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I'm good though, fellas. Today, genuinely, in shorts and a t-shirt.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Doing a bit of work around my old house there.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Genuinely working up a sweat out in the sun.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I was like, yes! Yeah.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Summer's coming, baby. It's what we're talking about. Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 3: It's so sunny, I'm actually peeling. You can see here
- 2:08Speaker 3: some of the skin's peeling off my shoulder, Kezi. Do
- 2:12Speaker 3: you want a taste of that?
- 2:13Speaker 2: Well, that actually looks like something else.
- 2:14Speaker 3: That's what I call good eating.
- 2:16Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 2:17Speaker 3: A little bit of mochi skin.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Hey, Jay.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:20Speaker 1: How are you today?
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Can't complain. Been out and about
- 2:25Speaker 2: getting my preparation for a bit of fishing over the weekend.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I was lacking all my fishing gears at our family batch.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And so I needed to go and get some stuff today.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Went and looked at my old joint, see how things
- 2:37Speaker 2: are going.
- 2:38Speaker 3: It's all good stuff. Bursts into tears.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yeah, bursts into tears.
- 2:41Speaker 1: But more on that on the podcast. Disclaimer, which comes
- 2:44Speaker 1: out tonight.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Bonus content. Massive show ahead. What's happening on The Big Show?
- 2:55Speaker 3: Well, it's Friday, so that means it's another opportunity to
- 2:58Speaker 3: have a go at the throbber there, fellas. We absolutely
- 3:00Speaker 3: love it. Also, the ITM trade-off. Last day we're doing it.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Is it the last day for it? It is. We're
- 3:06Speaker 3: having two.
- 3:07Speaker 2: No, it's another week.
- 3:08Speaker 3: We've got another week.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, bloody oath.
- 3:10Speaker 3: We get two cracks at it, though, fellas. Plus, plus
- 3:13Speaker 3: giving away $ 500 in cold, hard cash. And Keezy, coming
- 3:17Speaker 3: up next, you're absolute sicko. We're going to chat about
- 3:20Speaker 3: how you went with the cuisine over in Japan.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Yeah, because I don't eat seafood. I don't like seafood.
- 3:25Speaker 1: And Japan is the nation of seafood. So I thought
- 3:28Speaker 1: I'd just give you a run through of all the
- 3:29Speaker 1: meals I ate.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff.
- 3:31Speaker 2: It's going to be great, wasn't it?
- 3:31Speaker 3: I can't wait.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Hey, here's Harvey Danger.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 3:35Speaker 4: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Kings of Leon there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show
- 3:42Speaker 2: this Friday afternoon. The time is 4.13. Now, as you'll
- 3:45Speaker 2: be very aware of, old Keezy went to Japan for
- 3:49Speaker 2: two weeks very recently, didn't you, Keezy?
- 3:52Speaker 1: Certainly did, Jase. Two-week holiday. I'm part Japanese. It's a
- 3:55Speaker 1: place I've always wanted to go.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:56Speaker 1: So my wife and I went there, got back on Monday,
- 4:00Speaker 1: thoroughly enjoyed it. But, of course, one of the reasons
- 4:02Speaker 1: people go to Japan.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Is for the cuisine.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Now, I personally don't actually like seafood.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:11Speaker 2: And Mogi and I, I've got to be honest with you,
- 4:14Speaker 2: we're very concerned about what you're actually going to eat
- 4:17Speaker 2: over there. Famous, of course, for their nigiri, their sashimi,
- 4:21Speaker 2: and for their seafood in general.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing, you know, some of the most
- 4:26Speaker 1: popular tourist attractions over there are fish markets. But the
- 4:30Speaker 1: good thing about Japan, too, is it's a variety of food. So,
- 4:34Speaker 1: for example, your Wagyu beef.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 4:37Speaker 1: They're big on their wagyu.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah, they really are. That's sort of veins of fat
- 4:41Speaker 2: all through it. Marbled. Marbled, yes.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah, had plenty of that. Had that about three or
- 4:46Speaker 1: four times.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Tofu.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Which is, yes, it was some delicious tofu. Tried some tofu.
- 4:50Speaker 1: You know, your udon.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Oh, yes, your udon.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It's like a soup with noodles in it.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Plenty of udon.
- 4:55Speaker 3: But you can't just have soup, Keezy. You've got to
- 4:57Speaker 3: have some protein in there. Where are you getting your protein?
- 5:00Speaker 1: Oh, that was a chicken udon.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Oh, chicken.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Oh, right, okay. Because you did actually say to us,
- 5:06Speaker 2: Before you left, you'd been working up to getting into
- 5:09Speaker 2: the seafood, and so we were very excited because it's
- 5:13Speaker 2: one of the great joys of the world is fresh seafood.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I was trying to wean myself onto seafood, right?
- 5:20Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah, so you've got your pork tonkatsu, which is like
- 5:26Speaker 1: a big pork fillet, which is deep fried.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I guess they did have a bit there, didn't they? Pork, beef, chicken.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Tofu. Scallops.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Scallops. Did you have some scallops?
- 5:36Speaker 1: Had some scallops.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Oh, well done, Chris.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yakitori. To be honest, I've had scallops before. I quite
- 5:41Speaker 1: like them.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, delicious.
- 5:42Speaker 1: This is yakitori style.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Did they have the tongue on or was it just
- 5:45Speaker 2: the white part of the scallop?
- 5:47Speaker 1: Just the, oh, no, the tongue was there. The tongue
- 5:50Speaker 1: was there.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:51Speaker 1: But it was like on a skewer, grilled.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Skewer. It's pronounced, over there it's pronounced skewer. Oh, is it?
- 5:57Speaker 1: Yeah. I thought it was pronounced yakitori.
- 5:59Speaker 2: No.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Is it skewer?
- 6:00Speaker 2: Skewer.
- 6:02Speaker 1: So I had a few skewer scallops. Bloody delicious prawns.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah, well, prawns.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Are you on the prawns or are you?
- 6:09Speaker 1: Oh, no, my wife did.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Oh, right, okay. What about, you know, your fresh cut
- 6:14Speaker 2: of fish?
- 6:15Speaker 4: Ah, tuna.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Your sashimi.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Sashimi. So over there, a big thing is your fatty tuna. Yes.
- 6:20Speaker 1: You've got fatty, fatty, medium fatty or light fatty. Fatty.
- 6:25Speaker 1: And the fatty fatty is very rich, very oily. Most
- 6:28Speaker 1: people prefer the medium.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I would actually describe the tuna as quite a meaty fish.
- 6:34Speaker 2: You know, because I had tuna the other night and
- 6:37Speaker 2: a wasabi sauce. Yeah. It was very meaty. It was
- 6:40Speaker 2: almost steak-ish, Kesey. Did you try some of that?
- 6:44Speaker 1: No, I didn't.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Didn't even try it?
- 6:46Speaker 2: No.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Good on you, man. That's the spirit.
- 6:49Speaker 2: What about some, like, you know... plump, creamy, beautifully fresh salmon,
- 6:55Speaker 2: for example, dipped in a bit of soy, a little
- 6:57Speaker 2: bit of wasabi. What about something like that?
- 6:59Speaker 1: No, salmon is a big one because it's my wife's favourite.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I didn't have any of it.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Good on you, man.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Well known for octopus over there.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yes, octopus.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Had two octopus balls. And by that I mean, I
- 7:14Speaker 1: don't mean the testicles off an octopus.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Say no more, man.
- 7:17Speaker 1: No, I feel like I need to.
- 7:18Speaker 2: No, that makes sense.
- 7:21Speaker 1: But it's just people are going to think.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I ate the.
- 7:23Speaker 2: What about seaweed? Did you have some seaweed?
- 7:28Speaker 1: Yes, I had some sushi.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Oh, yeah?
- 7:30Speaker 1: Which was wrapped in seaweed.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yeah, what was in the sushi? Chicken.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Did you have any... Did you have any re-burger?
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:40Speaker 1: No, I didn't. I wish. I'm going to be honest, fellas.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I didn't eat any seafood.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Did anyone try it? That's crazy. That is....
- 7:47Speaker 2: So disappointing Keezy.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I know I know I had pizza one night do
- 7:54Speaker 1: you want to know genuinely the only thing.
- 7:55Speaker 3: That surprised me about that is that it was one
- 7:57Speaker 3: night yeah exactly do.
- 7:59Speaker 1: You want to know what genuinely the best meal of
- 8:01Speaker 1: the trip was what's that smash burgers where in Japan
- 8:06Speaker 1: there's a food truck outside our apartment one night we
- 8:10Speaker 1: got home late and everything closed early in this particular
- 8:12Speaker 1: area and the only thing open was a smash burger
- 8:15Speaker 1: van we were like stuff it let's just get burgers Delicious.
- 8:21Speaker 1: That and the octopus testicles.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Shocking bastard. What a waste.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Highly recommend, fellas.
- 8:28Speaker 2: There's rage against the machine.
- 8:33Speaker 4: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 8:36Speaker 4: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 8:38Speaker 2: White stripes there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 8:42Speaker 2: Friday afternoon. The time is 4.27. I want to carry
- 8:44Speaker 2: on the food chat, fellas, because something extraordinary happened to
- 8:48Speaker 2: me last night on that front. Now, you'll recall I
- 8:52Speaker 2: mentioned in the show yesterday that my mother-in-law was staying. Oh, yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 2: And the reason that she was staying with us last
- 8:58Speaker 2: night was because she wanted to go and see a play.
- 9:01Speaker 2: just down the road from us there.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Oh, great.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Which was great. Is she out of town usually? Yeah,
- 9:07Speaker 2: she lives up north.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Wow.
- 9:09Speaker 2: And so occasionally comes down to the big city and
- 9:11Speaker 2: so forth. You know, when she comes down, we like
- 9:14Speaker 2: to take her out and treat her.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Make her feel special.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Make her feel special. Yes, exactly, Mogi. Show her the
- 9:20Speaker 2: sights and sounds of the big city. The big city.
- 9:26Speaker 2: And my wife was going with her to this play, obviously.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Oh, you're not going?
- 9:29Speaker 3: No, I.
- 9:30Speaker 2: It was a musical from the start.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Oh, oh, oh.
- 9:34Speaker 3: I know the one.
- 9:34Speaker 2: It was a musical about dementia, I believe.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Really?
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yes, truly, truly. So it didn't really appeal to me.
- 9:42Speaker 3: There's another musical on at the moment, which also doesn't
- 9:45Speaker 3: appeal to me. Right, okay. Because it's a musical.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah, look, I'm going to say, I'll be honest, I
- 9:50Speaker 2: hate musicals.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Just full stop. Anyway, so I said, come on, love.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I'll take you out on the town before you go
- 9:57Speaker 2: to your theatre show. So. me and my wife and
- 10:01Speaker 2: my mother-in-law, we went to a lovely restaurant just up
- 10:04Speaker 2: the road from us. One of the great things, fellas, about...
- 10:08Speaker 2: Living in the CBD is your location to all the
- 10:12Speaker 2: sort of, you know, the great eating out spots.
- 10:14Speaker 3: You won't get that out west, Casey.
- 10:16Speaker 2: You certainly won't. You might get a sort of grody
- 10:18Speaker 2: old sort of toasty bar or something.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Excuse me. I know how to eat out out west,
- 10:22Speaker 1: all right?
- 10:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I know you do.
- 10:25Speaker 2: So we went to a Vietnamese restaurant. Very nice. We've
- 10:28Speaker 2: been there before. It does a great pork sort of soup. Anyway,
- 10:34Speaker 2: true story. We were about a third of the way
- 10:37Speaker 2: through our meal. It took a little while to come out. Now,
- 10:39Speaker 2: the play started at 7.30, and my mother-in-law looked at
- 10:45Speaker 2: her watch, and she went, oh, my God, is that
- 10:48Speaker 2: the time?
- 10:49Speaker 3: Was it?
- 10:50Speaker 2: And it was the time, and the time was 7.25.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Right, because you would have left here not long before 7.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Gone straight there.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Straight there. They should have ordered beforehand. Well, they should have,
- 11:02Speaker 2: but they didn't. And it was 7.25. You know when
- 11:05Speaker 2: I get chitty-channing? I can go on a bit, you know.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Tell me about it.
- 11:08Speaker 2: We'd only just really started the meal, and then they
- 11:12Speaker 2: both went, oh, my God, we've got to go.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Right.
- 11:15Speaker 2: So I went, oh, oh, okay. Yeah, no, I suppose. No,
- 11:18Speaker 2: you guys go. You guys go.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Did you immediately drop lip and just go quiet?
- 11:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I did. I just went, fine.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Right, so you gave your mother-in-law the silent treatment as well.
- 11:27Speaker 2: She's used to it. And anyway, this is true. And
- 11:34Speaker 2: the woman who runs this restaurant, she's a lovely lady,
- 11:37Speaker 2: and she was like, oh, is everything all right? Because
- 11:38Speaker 2: they were literally bolting up the door. And they were like, yes, no, sorry, sorry,
- 11:43Speaker 2: we've got to go and didn't really explain the situation.
- 11:46Speaker 2: So it left me there looking like an absolute doofus,
- 11:50Speaker 2: like I'd said the wrong thing or, you know, and
- 11:54Speaker 2: upset the family and they both just got up and left.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Right.
- 11:59Speaker 2: And so she was, you know, the restaurant owner was
- 12:02Speaker 2: really concerned and worried about, oh, did they not like
- 12:05Speaker 2: the food?
- 12:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 2: And I was like, no, they loved it.
- 12:07Speaker 3: It's a real insult.
- 12:09Speaker 1: It's a huge insult because I know in a lot
- 12:11Speaker 1: of those Asian countries, the serving size is not huge.
- 12:16Speaker 1: It's not like in Western countries when they'll just give
- 12:19Speaker 1: you a huge meal and you eat as much as
- 12:20Speaker 1: you can. It doesn't matter if there's leftovers. Usually what
- 12:23Speaker 1: they give you, you're supposed to eat all of it.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Yes.
- 12:25Speaker 1: And it's a massive insult not to.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Because it's a pretty modest serving size.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Sometimes food can be very hard to come by, Jason.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Well, look, I know. And this is also true. Rather
- 12:35Speaker 2: than to go, oh, can you pack their meals up?
- 12:39Speaker 3: Yes.
- 12:40Speaker 2: I ate it all.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Good.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Did you actually? I literally ate it all because I
- 12:45Speaker 2: felt so bad for her that I ate my wife's
- 12:48Speaker 2: meal and my mother-in-law's meal. And her meal was, of
- 12:52Speaker 2: huge piece of chicken and massive bowl of rice. So
- 12:55Speaker 2: I ate it all simply, and I'd ordered two rounds
- 12:58Speaker 2: of spring rolls.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Right.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Which I also ate.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Did you pay for it?
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yeah, of course I paid for it, but I felt
- 13:05Speaker 2: nauseous afterwards. But, you know, it really left me in
- 13:10Speaker 2: a predicament, fellas.
- 13:11Speaker 1: It is a tough predicament.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Have you started talking to your wife and your mother-in-law again,
- 13:15Speaker 3: or are they still in the doghouse?
- 13:16Speaker 2: I didn't go home.
- 13:19Speaker 4: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Let's see who's winning an ITM Toolbox trade-off from the
- 13:30Speaker 3: Big Show on Radio Hauraki.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Yes, indeed, the ITM Toolbox trade-off. The punters are loving it, fellas,
- 13:36Speaker 2: and why wouldn't they?
- 13:37Speaker 1: Certainly are, Jase. It's to celebrate ITM's Toolbox top-up sale,
- 13:40Speaker 1: which is on right now, runs through October and November
- 13:43Speaker 1: at your local ITM. Get down there, get a bloody bargain.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Hey, I think ITM actually sells fishing gear too, so
- 13:50Speaker 2: I might pop in there and have a bit of
- 13:52Speaker 2: a gander.
- 13:52Speaker 3: You should.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Get some gears for over the summer period. What do
- 13:56Speaker 2: you reckon, fellas? Bring you in some fresh snaps. Some snappers.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Some photos of you not catching any fish. Yeah, good stuff.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Mitch, you mad bastard.
- 14:08Speaker 2: How's life? Yeah, good, fellas. How about you?
- 14:11Speaker 1: Yeah, good, thanks, mate.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Can't complain, can't complain. How is magnificent New Plymouth today?
- 14:16Speaker 3: She is stunning, mate. Blue skies all around.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, nice.
- 14:21Speaker 1: How good.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Nice, beautiful part of the country.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Mitch, just quickly, man, what do you do for a crust?
- 14:26Speaker 3: I'm an estimator, mate.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Give or take.
- 14:29Speaker 1: So what does that entail?
- 14:31Speaker 3: Oh, pricing things, eh, and getting it wrong.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Do you just say the word approximately a lot?
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:38Speaker 3: I estimate. Yeah, so you're one of those guys where
- 14:42Speaker 3: you're responsible for when a budget completely blows out. So
- 14:46Speaker 3: it's going to be $ 3 billion for that, and then
- 14:48Speaker 3: it comes in, oh, actually it's going to be $ 20
- 14:50Speaker 3: billion because their estimator was rubbish.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Yeah, good at it, though.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Good on you, Mitch.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Hey, Mitch, we're doing the ITM trade-off, all right? So
- 15:00Speaker 1: you have to tell us one of your tools that
- 15:02Speaker 1: you'd like to trade for one of ours. What are
- 15:04Speaker 1: you going to trade?
- 15:04Speaker 2: I'll give you a claw hammer. A claw hammer?
- 15:09Speaker 1: So that's just a hammer?
- 15:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:11Speaker 1: But it's got a claw on the... What's wrong? Why
- 15:15Speaker 1: are you trading it away, man? Don't you like your
- 15:16Speaker 1: claw hammer?
- 15:17Speaker 3: Nah, she's a bit buggered in two pieces. Oh, no.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Oh, mate. That was him banging it against a bit
- 15:25Speaker 2: of wood after he got another estimate wrong.
- 15:30Speaker 1: That's the one, Jason. Just looking at what tools we've
- 15:32Speaker 1: got here to swap with a claw hammer. To be honest, man,
- 15:36Speaker 1: I don't actually have a claw hammer in stock, so
- 15:37Speaker 1: what I'll do is I'll trade you the Hikoki 18-volt
- 15:40Speaker 1: Speed Series high-volume framing nailer kit worth $ 13. 99 plus GST.
- 15:46Speaker 3: You absolute ripper.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Wow.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's bloody good. It includes a framing nailer, two batteries,
- 15:52Speaker 1: a smart charger, and system case. So it says here
- 15:56Speaker 1: it's worth $ 1399 plus GST. What's your estimate on it, Mitch?
- 16:00Speaker 3: I'd say it's probably about $ 800.
- 16:01Speaker 2: He's good at his job.
- 16:04Speaker 1: He's good at his job. Good on you, Mitch. You
- 16:08Speaker 1: hold the line, mate. That tool is all yours.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Thanks, fellas. Good on you. Good on you, mate. I
- 16:13Speaker 2: tell you what, just so you know, we're doing another
- 16:15Speaker 2: one of these after 5 o'clock, aren't we, fellas?
- 16:18Speaker 1: We certainly are, because it's a long weekend.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Yes.
- 16:20Speaker 1: So we've got two weeks' worth of tools, so we
- 16:22Speaker 1: thought we'd double down today. Also today, we are giving
- 16:24Speaker 1: away $ 500 to one of this week's winners.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yes.
- 16:29Speaker 1: So if you've won a tool of us, have your
- 16:31Speaker 1: phone on.
- 16:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:32Speaker 1: We could be calling you to give you $ 500 cash.
- 16:34Speaker 2: It's extraordinary.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Isn't it amazing, man?
- 16:36Speaker 2: It just gets better and better and better.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Speaking of better, you want a bit of stereophonics?
- 16:42Speaker 1: This is a tune, by the way. Don't forget, ITM's
- 16:45Speaker 1: Toolbox Top-Up Sale. It's on now.
- 16:47Speaker 4: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 16:51Speaker 4: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Tune. The temperature app there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show. Yes, Mogey.
- 17:00Speaker 3: They're from Australia. Do you know that, Jase?
- 17:02Speaker 2: I didn't actually.
- 17:03Speaker 3: There's an Australian band there.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a hell of a tune. I enjoy that one.
- 17:06Speaker 2: It's an absolute doozy. Hey, fellas. Let's talk TV. Okay.
- 17:14Speaker 3: What's on the.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Telly with Mike Minogue. Yeah! Hey, FYI, just between the
- 17:24Speaker 2: three of us, Pugson's in a hurr of a mood.
- 17:26Speaker 1: He is in a hurr of a mood.
- 17:27Speaker 2: So just don't go into Studio B.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 17:31Speaker 3: He keeps sticking his tongue at me. It's driving me nuts.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Yes, I know.
- 17:34Speaker 3: He's got a few foul habits, actually. That and biting
- 17:36Speaker 3: his nails. It's disgusting. I've asked him to stop. He refuses.
- 17:39Speaker 2: I'm going to have to step it up now to
- 17:41Speaker 2: the management.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Because to me, it's a sexual type of harassment. And
- 17:45Speaker 3: I've asked him one-on-one to just stop it, and he refuses.
- 17:48Speaker 3: So what is that?
- 17:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's harassment.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Do you know what I'm saying? If anybody else asked him,
- 17:51Speaker 3: what would he do?
- 17:52Speaker 2: I'm not going to even talk about all the sex
- 17:53Speaker 2: toys he keeps leaving behind.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Yeah, we've done that to death, to be honest.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Fellas, I'll be honest with you, I didn't watch anything
- 18:00Speaker 3: last night. A family of three walked past our house,
- 18:04Speaker 3: and then they ended up coming inside for a drink
- 18:05Speaker 3: of wine. What was really interesting was, well, the daughter
- 18:08Speaker 3: was my daughter's age, so they played on the trampoline.
- 18:11Speaker 3: We sat outside, had a glass of wine there. They'd
- 18:13Speaker 3: just been to Japan.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
- 18:15Speaker 3: They'd been to Japan for a couple of weeks. After
- 18:17Speaker 3: talking to them, it really made me want to go.
- 18:20Speaker 1: What about me talking about it?
- 18:22Speaker 3: They went on this huge, Keezy, do you mind? They
- 18:25Speaker 3: went on this big bike riding tour. So they have
- 18:28Speaker 3: all these islands and they have these suspended bridges between
- 18:31Speaker 3: these islands, Jase.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:32Speaker 3: And they're six miles long. Huge suspended bridges, these bastards.
- 18:37Speaker 3: He took his whole family, the three of them went,
- 18:40Speaker 3: young six-year-old daughter, seven-year-old daughter, some 70 kilometres of these
- 18:43Speaker 3: suspended bridges they went on.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Wow.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Then they got themselves around in Osaka and a whole
- 18:47Speaker 3: bunch of other places. There's this thing called Teamland. These things, Teba,
- 18:51Speaker 3: they're an art installation, interactive art installations that you can
- 18:55Speaker 3: go on. And it's essentially where they've refigured it with multimedia.
- 19:00Speaker 3: But as opposed to you going into a museum and
- 19:03Speaker 3: experiencing art, like you go to the art, right? You
- 19:05Speaker 3: stand in front of a painting or a sculpture and
- 19:07Speaker 3: you experience the art. These things are four-story buildings, and
- 19:10Speaker 3: the art comes to you. Right. The art is, it
- 19:14Speaker 3: could be bubbles, it could be sculptures, it could be
- 19:16Speaker 3: projected little turtles that run along the wall. It sounds
- 19:20Speaker 3: absolutely mind-bendingly incredible. Yeah. The way they describe the food. Jason,
- 19:26Speaker 3: I've got to go.
- 19:29Speaker 2: What you've just said to me makes me want to go.
- 19:33Speaker 3: And I've never wanted to go.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Same.
- 19:35Speaker 3: As time has gone on, I've wanted to go less
- 19:38Speaker 3: and less.
- 19:41Speaker 1: It's actually the Shimanami Kaido is that thing, the bike ride.
- 19:45Speaker 3: I don't know about any of that.
- 19:48Speaker 1: And Borderless is what the the Team Labs thing's called.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Thanks, Google.
- 19:59Speaker 1: That's actually a great bird.
- 20:01Speaker 2: You're calling someone Google? You were too busy standing outside bloody...
- 20:08Speaker 2: smash burgers shacks.
- 20:12Speaker 1: You're in Australia it's like basically.
- 20:15Speaker 2: New Zealand fellas like you Mogi I don't have anything
- 20:19Speaker 2: to offer TV wise because I just you know explained
- 20:21Speaker 2: earlier on how my wife and my mother-in-law left me
- 20:23Speaker 2: in the restaurant to go to a play cool we'll
- 20:25Speaker 2: just move on to me so I went I went
- 20:27Speaker 2: to bed in a hurrah of a mood and pretended
- 20:29Speaker 2: I was.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Asleep did you grab the duvet and roll over yeah
- 20:32Speaker 3: like a little caterpillar.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Yeah that's it yeah nice Ever since you put that
- 20:36Speaker 1: hat on backwards, Jase, you've got a real attitude.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 20:39Speaker 2: I just need a bit of bling and I reckon
- 20:41Speaker 2: I'll make it work.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:43Speaker 2: What did you watch, Keezy? Because I'm always fascinated by
- 20:46Speaker 2: what's going on. Stop being a smartass. What do you mean, man?
- 20:51Speaker 1: You know what I watched.
- 20:53Speaker 3: I got fingers crossed. I'm hoping it was another episode
- 20:55Speaker 3: of Traders.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yeah, same.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Last night I watched Traders Celebrity UK on 3NZ or 3Now.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Richard E. Grant, one of your favourite actors. Can I
- 21:08Speaker 1: just say that that's a stretch?
- 21:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he's not my favourite actor.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I like that movie.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Actor in one of your favourite movies, which is Withnail
- 21:15Speaker 1: and I. He was a massive penis in the first episode.
- 21:19Speaker 1: My wife does not like him. But let's just say...
- 21:23Speaker 1: Don't have to worry about that anymore. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:26Speaker 1: And my wife was stoked.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Can I ask, when are you getting back to old
- 21:29Speaker 2: outrageous fortune? Because you were loving that.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I just thought some of the performances were pretty weak.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Mainly the lawyer.
- 21:39Speaker 2: He's in prison now, though, isn't he?
- 21:40Speaker 1: Oh, that's a massive spoiler. Cheers for that.
- 21:55Speaker 3: It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Yes, indeed, the Friday Throbber. And I feel like the
- 22:06Speaker 2: Friday Throbber's even better when we're in spring and summer,
- 22:08Speaker 2: don't you, fellas? Because, you know, obviously the days are longer,
- 22:11Speaker 2: people are getting home from work, the sun's out, they're
- 22:14Speaker 2: probably listening to Radio Hauraki, listening to the tunes, having
- 22:17Speaker 2: a few cool crisp beers on the deck or something
- 22:20Speaker 2: like that. You might be asking, what is the Friday Thrubber?
- 22:24Speaker 2: Each of us here in the studio, we choose a
- 22:25Speaker 2: song to kick off your Friday celebrations into the long weekend,
- 22:29Speaker 2: don't we, fellas?
- 22:30Speaker 3: Exactly right. And if you like a particular song from
- 22:33Speaker 3: a particular fella, you give us a ring on 0800 Hauraki.
- 22:36Speaker 3: First to two votes out of three wins the Thrubber
- 22:38Speaker 3: for that week, gets their song picked, and then we
- 22:40Speaker 3: sort of just rip each other for another sort of
- 22:42Speaker 3: 10 minutes or so, stick it to each other, and
- 22:44Speaker 3: then get on with our lives. Yes.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Pretty much.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Sound about right?
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds exactly.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Right, Mogi.
- 22:49Speaker 1: We're also keeping score. Whoever wins at the end of
- 22:51Speaker 1: the year gets a full special episode of The Big
- 22:53Speaker 1: Show with just their tunes.
- 22:55Speaker 2: How do you do it, man? Bloody good.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Hey, I can go first if you like, guys. I
- 22:58Speaker 3: just want a good old-fashioned bit of rock and roll.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Okay.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Okay?
- 23:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Let the parties hit the floor. Let the parties hit
- 23:06Speaker 1: the floor. Let the parties.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Hit the floor.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Bit of bodies there from drowning pool.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Drowning pool. It's a pool. Where you drown. That's cool.
- 23:28Speaker 2: It's good stuff, Mikey. It's good stuff. It was slobbering, man.
- 23:31Speaker 3: It was pulsing. Thank you.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Pulsing. Speaking of pulsing, Jase, do you want to go next?
- 23:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Burn it to the ground. What the fuck?
- 23:52Speaker 1: Bit of Nickelback there.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Oh, man. Did I choose that part of the song?
- 23:57Speaker 3: That's not the part I wanted. One of the biggest
- 23:59Speaker 3: laughingstocks on the planet. Good on you, man.
- 24:01Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. what part you chose of Nickelback.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I do recall someone winning with Nickelback at some point.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Yeah, but not that song.
- 24:11Speaker 1: No, because the issue with that song is it's trying
- 24:13Speaker 1: to be rock and roll.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
- 24:17Speaker 1: And the worst part is you've chosen a bit of
- 24:19Speaker 1: a stinker there, while me and Moggy have chosen some
- 24:21Speaker 1: absolute throbbers. Clowns to the left of me.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Jokers to the right. Here I am, stuck in the
- 24:28Speaker 2: middle with you.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Yes, I'm stuck in the middle with you.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Pugs isn't happy out there, can I say that?
- 24:35Speaker 1: Yeah, he's in a hurry.
- 24:36Speaker 2: I feel like, I feel like, KZ, we should just
- 24:40Speaker 2: concede this, shouldn't we? You and I should just be
- 24:45Speaker 2: taking out the back paddock there.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Don't lump me in with you, that's deeply offensive.
- 24:50Speaker 2: We should just be done with now, you know what
- 24:52Speaker 2: I'm saying?
- 24:53Speaker 1: No, no, no, I can still win this thing.
- 24:55Speaker 3: There'll definitely be people that are into it, man. Your
- 24:57Speaker 3: song's there, Jase. Yeah, well... Okay.
- 25:00Speaker 1: The good thing is to, by the way, give us
- 25:02Speaker 1: a call now. 0800 HODAKI. Vote for which song you
- 25:05Speaker 1: would like to win the throbber. And every single person
- 25:08Speaker 1: that calls through on 0800 HODAKI and plays the throbber
- 25:11Speaker 1: is in the draw for a copy of Fontaine's DC's
- 25:13Speaker 1: new album, Dopamine Chamber, on vinyl.
- 25:16Speaker 2: What?
- 25:17Speaker 1: One lucky person will be awarded that.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Yeah, how good.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Old pug son will choose. Do you like mayonnaise? What?
- 25:29Speaker 1: It's a song by Smashy Punch.
- 25:32Speaker 4: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 25:39Speaker 2: It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber. Tuesdays.
- 25:45Speaker 1: The Friday Throbber. where we each choose a song and
- 25:53Speaker 1: you vote which song you'd like to hear played in
- 25:54Speaker 1: full on 0800HODUCKY. And today as well, because it's Vinyl Friday,
- 25:59Speaker 1: one of these callers on the line right now will
- 26:00Speaker 1: win a copy of Fontaine's DC's new album on vinyl,
- 26:03Speaker 1: Dopamine Chamber.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Oh, man. Yeah, how good, man, how good.
- 26:06Speaker 3: That's actually great.
- 26:07Speaker 2: I feel like it's going to be a real tight
- 26:08Speaker 2: tussle today.
- 26:09Speaker 3: I actually do. I think you'll be surprised.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Yeah, so we'll start with Mogi's offering from Drowning Pool.
- 26:15Speaker 2: LAUGHTER Let the bodies hit the floor.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Let the bodies.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Hit the floor. That sounds great. Angry throbber.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 1: From old Mogi there. Speaking of an angry throbber, check
- 26:42Speaker 1: this shit out from Oidy J.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Rival!
- 26:48Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 26:49Speaker 2: I'm ashamed of myself. I mean, I've picked some shitters,
- 26:53Speaker 2: but this must be the worst of the lot.
- 26:55Speaker 3: It's unreal. And I'll be honest with you, I think
- 26:58Speaker 3: Nickelback get too much of a hard time. They've got
- 27:01Speaker 3: some absolute tunes. That ain't true.
- 27:03Speaker 2: That's not one of them, yeah.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Because it's them trying to be badass.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
- 27:07Speaker 3: It's weird.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I agree, man.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Luckily, old Keezy saves the day with an absolute throbber.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Everyone on the world loves this song. On the world?
- 27:19Speaker 3: You guys like that song, though.
- 27:23Speaker 2: It's been a while. I guess we go to the
- 27:39Speaker 2: phone lines. G'day, Dan, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, good.
- 27:43Speaker 3: How are you, fellas? Yeah, good. Thanks, mate.
- 27:46Speaker 2: What are you running with there, Dan?
- 27:48Speaker 5: Oh, well, Jason Kesey's songs are not.
- 27:52Speaker 3: That great, so it'll have to be Mogi.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you, mate.
- 27:56Speaker 3: That's the spirit.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I don't agree with you, Dan. You hold the line there, man.
- 28:00Speaker 1: You could win that vinyl, right? You stay there.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Hayden, you mad bastard, how's life?
- 28:06Speaker 3: Oh, it's wonderful down here.
- 28:07Speaker 4: It's nice and sunny.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Yeah, good on you, mate.
- 28:09Speaker 1: He's in Christchurch, by the way.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Can you put us out of our misery, please, Hayden?
- 28:12Speaker 1: Who are you voting for, Hayden? I'm voting for Jizzbox. Oh, no.
- 28:18Speaker 3: There you go.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Good on you, Hayden. You hold the line there, man.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 28:25Speaker 1: What do you mean? You're going to win the throbber, Jason, maybe?
- 28:28Speaker 2: No. G'day, Fergus, you mad bastard. How's life?
- 28:33Speaker 3: Oh, good, Hootie Jizz.
- 28:34Speaker 2: How are you, mate? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. What are
- 28:36Speaker 2: you running with there, Fergus?
- 28:39Speaker 3: Oh, this Friday evening, I think I have to go
- 28:41Speaker 3: with a bit of Nickelback.
- 28:42Speaker 4: I think it's you, Hootie Jizz.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Fergus, you've got great taste, mate. You
- 28:47Speaker 1: hold the line, you can win that album. Oh, I
- 28:49Speaker 1: love it.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Well, I'll be honest with you, a win for Hootie
- 28:51Speaker 3: J is a win for old Mogi.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Yeah, true.
- 28:55Speaker 1: But, mate, the reputational damage that this is going to do.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Look, this is unprecedented. Can I take the win and
- 29:03Speaker 2: not play the song?
- 29:04Speaker 5: No.
- 29:05Speaker 3: You can't.
- 29:05Speaker 2: We have to play the song in full.
- 29:06Speaker 3: No, you cannot take the win.
- 29:08Speaker 1: By the way, everyone on the line right now, hold
- 29:10Speaker 1: the line. Pugs is going to randomly choose a winner.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Yeah, good idea, Keezy.
- 29:14Speaker 1: But for now.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Wait. What? I know this is unprecedented. Right. Can I
- 29:20Speaker 2: take the win, but we play Mogi's song? No.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Oh, it's already started, man.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Nickelback, man.
- 29:26Speaker 1: 3483, let us know your thoughts on today's Friday Thrubber.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Every text in the draw for 50 bucks. Reburger. Turn
- 29:32Speaker 1: it up!
- 29:34Speaker 2: Woo!
- 29:35Speaker 4: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 29:38Speaker 4: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I apologise. I apologise, everyone. I apologise and I'll apologise again.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Nickelback.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:49Speaker 1: On Hodaki. Just won the Friday Throbber as chosen by Jase.
- 29:52Speaker 1: As voted by the listeners, though, and Jase on 3483.
- 29:55Speaker 1: A lot of people texting in their thoughts and feelings.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Brett says, this song brings back memories. It was one
- 30:02Speaker 1: of the old WWE Raw opening theme songs.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Oh, was it? Yeah. He finishes that off by saying,
- 30:08Speaker 3: what a throbber.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Boom.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Tune, thanks for reminding us how damn catchy this is.
- 30:14Speaker 1: The bass and guitar rock on. Hoity J.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Honestly, Jase, people are loving it, mate.
- 30:18Speaker 3: Nickelback, absolute banger. What? You can't win them all. This
- 30:22Speaker 3: throbber sucks balls.
- 30:24Speaker 2: No.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Specifically the Bulls. Nickelback rules. That's from Em. I've never
- 30:31Speaker 1: been more jizzed up on a Friday. What a tune.
- 30:33Speaker 1: That's from Jordan. Jeez, as soon as this banger came on,
- 30:37Speaker 1: Newstalk ZB never sounded so good. And then this one
- 30:41Speaker 1: here just says, Jase, you absolute meathead. It's divisive. It is.
- 30:46Speaker 1: People either love it, pretend they don't like it, or
- 30:49Speaker 1: genuinely don't like it.
- 30:51Speaker 2: I'm in the genuinely don't like it category. Why?
- 30:53Speaker 1: Did you choose it then?
- 30:55Speaker 2: Well, you know, because I was trying to get the
- 30:57Speaker 2: vibe of what the listeners would want today.
- 30:59Speaker 3: And you nailed it, man.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks, Mogies.
- 31:00Speaker 3: What's the name of that song?
- 31:02Speaker 2: Burn It To The Ground.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Oh, man, it's hardcore for sure.
- 31:04Speaker 1: It's something about going out tonight.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Burn it to the ground. Yeah, it's all about going
- 31:10Speaker 2: out and getting steamed.
- 31:12Speaker 1: It's like it's about we're going out tonight and going
- 31:14Speaker 1: to have a big party.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Whee!
- 31:15Speaker 2: Because we're in Nickelback.
- 31:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:17Speaker 3: It's good stuff.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it is good stuff. Well, it did win the throw,
- 31:20Speaker 1: but just looking at the old scoreboard here for 2026,
- 31:23Speaker 1: way out in front still with 18 wins. You've got
- 31:27Speaker 1: old Mogey. Second place, Keezy, with 11 wins and an asterisk.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Jase, though.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yes.
- 31:36Speaker 1: You know, you might think Seamogie's score and think that's unobtainable,
- 31:39Speaker 1: but with that win, you are now on, he's on,
- 31:42Speaker 1: what was it?
- 31:43Speaker 2: 18. 18.
- 31:44Speaker 1: You are on eight with two asterisks and a small D.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Yes.
- 31:50Speaker 2: I'm feeling confident, though.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Anything's possible. Anything's possible.
- 31:54Speaker 2: I feel like I've got my mojo back. Anything is possible.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Those guys fired me up, man.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Who, Nickelback? Yeah. Oh. A palate cleanser now?
- 32:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. Foo Fighters.

- 32:45Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I mean, I'd have to shift some stuff around, but

- 34:54Speaker 1: If you guys had to dress up for Halloween, what

- 34:57Speaker 3: Obviously.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Yeah, here we go.
- 35:00Speaker 3: No.
- 35:00Speaker 1: No jokes.
- 35:02Speaker 3: I've actually got, well, do you know what, Keezy? Once
- 35:04Speaker 3: I won best dressed at a Halloween dress-up party. I
- 35:09Speaker 3: went as, I don't know if you've seen the movie
- 35:10Speaker 3: Crow with Brandon Lee.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Crow. Isn't that a horror?
- 35:14Speaker 3: It is, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Wait, isn't it?
- 35:17Speaker 3: Go on.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Wait, what did you go as? Go on.
- 35:21Speaker 3: I went as the crow.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Jeez.
- 35:24Speaker 3: Doesn't he?
- 35:26Speaker 2: Oh.
- 35:27Speaker 3: He's having it up.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Oh, because of your beak, obviously.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. What about you, Jase? What have you
- 35:32Speaker 3: gone as?
- 35:33Speaker 2: I don't do Halloween.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Yeah, right, okay.
- 35:35Speaker 1: It's a shame because there'd be a lot of costumes
- 35:38Speaker 1: that you'd be great at. Hey, keep an ear out.
- 35:41Speaker 1: You could win $ 250 cash thanks to our mates at
- 35:44Speaker 1: Super Liquor. Cheers to gigs. Cheers to Super Liquor.
- 35:47Speaker 4: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 35:50Speaker 4: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Call now.
- 35:57Speaker 2: To win an ITM Toolbox trade-off from The Big Show.
- 35:59Speaker 2: 0800 HODUCKY.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Boom!
- 36:04Speaker 2: Look at the phone lines there, fellas, just going off.
- 36:07Speaker 2: The ITM Toolbox trade-off.
- 36:09Speaker 1: That's right. It's to celebrate ITM's Toolbox top-up sale, which
- 36:13Speaker 1: is on right now through to the end of November
- 36:15Speaker 1: as well at your local ITM. Get down there for
- 36:17Speaker 1: plenty of sales on all the biggest names and tools.
- 36:19Speaker 2: And the reason we're doing two today, of course, is
- 36:21Speaker 2: because Monday's a holiday.
- 36:23Speaker 3: It is.
- 36:23Speaker 2: And we're all pretty stoked about that, I'll be honest
- 36:26Speaker 2: with you.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Labor weekend, can't bloody wait. Another reason we're doing... two
- 36:30Speaker 1: of these, is because we're also celebrating the fact we've
- 36:32Speaker 1: got $ 500 to give away. Yes. Because it's not just
- 36:34Speaker 1: the tools you get. You know, if we trade for
- 36:37Speaker 1: one of your tools, all five people who got themselves
- 36:40Speaker 1: in the draw this week, well, six actually, including these
- 36:42Speaker 1: people here that are calling up now, in the draw
- 36:44Speaker 1: for $ 500, we're going to do a lucky dip and
- 36:46Speaker 1: give one of them cold hard cash.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Not bad, all right. Not bloody bad.
- 36:50Speaker 1: All right, so we rip into it, fellas?
- 36:51Speaker 2: Yes, I think so, mate. Let's see who's winning an
- 36:58Speaker 2: ITM Toolbox trade-off from the big show on Radio Hauraki. G'day, Keegan,
- 37:03Speaker 2: you mad bastard. How's life?
- 37:06Speaker 3: Not too bad, not too bad.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Good on you, mate. Walkworth, that's a beautiful part of
- 37:09Speaker 2: the country. It must be beautiful up there today. Yeah,
- 37:13Speaker 2: I'm up in Paiaia at the moment, and it's beautiful
- 37:15Speaker 2: up there. Oh, yeah, nice. Nice. And tell me, Keegan,
- 37:18Speaker 2: what do you do for a crust, mate?
- 37:19Speaker 4: I'm a mechanic.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Oh, backbone. Yeah, nice. Grease monkey. Yeah. Yeah.
- 37:26Speaker 1: What's your favourite tool when you're mechanicing, Keegan?
- 37:30Speaker 2: I love my half-inch rattle gun.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, half-incher, yeah.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got no idea what that is, but it
- 37:36Speaker 2: sounds cool.
- 37:37Speaker 1: It's a gun, right?
- 37:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 1: It's about half an inch wide. It's tiny.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Yes.
- 37:41Speaker 1: And it just makes a little rattling noise.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it's broken when you get it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:45Speaker 2: So, Keegan, it's the ITM Toolbox trade-off. What tool do
- 37:49Speaker 2: you want to trade with us? I've got a pretty
- 37:53Speaker 2: sad jigsaw.
- 37:55Speaker 1: How many pieces? 500 pieces? 1,000 pieces?
- 37:57Speaker 2: It's been one piece.
- 38:01Speaker 4: It just sometimes doesn't jig very well.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I hate that with the old jiggy.
- 38:06Speaker 3: The old jiggy there. Mogi, do you have a jiggy?
- 38:10Speaker 3: I used to have a jiggy, but I had to
- 38:12Speaker 3: get rid of it. I had to get rid of
- 38:14Speaker 3: it for exactly that reason that you're talking about, the
- 38:16Speaker 3: air keg. And sometimes it just simply would not jig. Yeah.
- 38:19Speaker 3: And then I'm the idiot. I don't think so. So
- 38:21Speaker 3: it's in the bin, man. See you later. All right.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Well, I'm just going to take a look here, Keegan,
- 38:25Speaker 1: at what we could trade you for. Do we have
- 38:29Speaker 1: a jigsaw? No, we don't. What we do have is
- 38:31Speaker 1: a Makita 40-volt Max XGT four-piece combo kit with $ 1699
- 38:34Speaker 1: plus GST, mate.
- 38:35Speaker 5: Ooh.
- 38:39Speaker 1: You like the sound of that?
- 38:40Speaker 4: That is bloody awesome.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Damn right it is. It includes a drill, an impact driver,
- 38:48Speaker 1: a circular saw, a multi-tool batteries, rapid charger and a
- 38:52Speaker 1: rolling tool chest, Keegan.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Oh, awesome. That's got to make your long weekend, mate, surely.
- 38:59Speaker 4: That does make my long weekend.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Oh, how good.
- 39:03Speaker 1: So that tool is all yours. We are trading you.
- 39:05Speaker 1: You hold the line there. We've got to do a
- 39:07Speaker 1: lucky dip, fellas.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we do. $ 500 cash, is that right, Keezy?
- 39:11Speaker 3: That's right.
- 39:11Speaker 1: So what I'm going to do is I'm thinking of
- 39:13Speaker 1: a number between one– Between one. Between one and five.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Right, okay.
- 39:19Speaker 3: One and six.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Actually, no, what I'm saying is pick, sorry, yes, one
- 39:21Speaker 1: and six.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Pick a number between one and six.
- 39:24Speaker 5: All right?
- 39:24Speaker 2: I'm going to go three.
- 39:26Speaker 3: No, I was going to go three.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Okay, let's go to the line three then.
- 39:30Speaker 2: G'day, is that Paul, is it? No way.
- 39:35Speaker 1: You little ripper.
- 39:37Speaker 2: How good. Hey, Paul, how's beautiful Todonga today?
- 39:42Speaker 3: Oh, she's gorgeous, mate. Not a cloud in the sky.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Have you got an idea about how you might spend
- 39:48Speaker 3: this 500 bucks here, Paul? Queen of the Nile, man.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Good shit, Paul. Well, not only did you win a
- 39:57Speaker 1: tool off us earlier this week, mate, you've also got
- 39:59Speaker 1: yourself 500 bucks cash.
- 40:01Speaker 3: Oh, fellas, you guys are absolute.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's amazing, man.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Thank you very much.
- 40:05Speaker 1: And thanks, ITM, as well.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Good on you, man. That's good stuff. You have a
- 40:09Speaker 2: fantastic long weekend, Paul. You too.
- 40:13Speaker 3: You guys too. I love you.
- 40:14Speaker 2: You hold the line, Paul. Yeah, good stuff.
- 40:16Speaker 1: That was pretty fun, wasn't it?
- 40:17Speaker 2: Paul's had a hell of a week, hasn't he?
- 40:19Speaker 3: He's had a great week. Very polite. I think he
- 40:21Speaker 3: was the only one of our winners that thanked ITM.
- 40:24Speaker 2: True.
- 40:24Speaker 3: On both occasions. Good on you, Paul.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Yeah, good stuff.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Big shout out to ITM and their toolbox, Top Up Sale,
- 40:29Speaker 1: which is on now October through November. Some of the
- 40:31Speaker 1: biggest brands and more with great prices. Now, coming up
- 40:34Speaker 1: after six, fellas.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 40:35Speaker 1: We've had an internal complaint.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Yes.
- 40:38Speaker 1: It's about a handling of a on-air last night. We
- 40:42Speaker 1: were supposed to be telling the audience about a great
- 40:43Speaker 1: new competition we've got happening at the moment. Apparently, we
- 40:47Speaker 1: did a bad job of it. So we're just going
- 40:49Speaker 1: to listen back and see whether the complaint was justified.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Fair enough, man.
- 40:54Speaker 4: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 40:58Speaker 4: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Friday afternoon slash
- 41:04Speaker 2: early evening is absolutely going off. You're listening to The
- 41:07Speaker 2: Big Show, incidentally, brought to you by Reburger.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburger. Ah, that's really
- 41:16Speaker 1: quite yummy.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it really is quite yummy. Genuinely delicious. Genuinely.
- 41:21Speaker 3: No.
- 41:22Speaker 1: No.
- 41:22Speaker 2: No.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I don't believe you. I already don't believe you either.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Please.
- 41:26Speaker 1: If you say you're having Reburger.
- 41:29Speaker 2: What?
- 41:29Speaker 1: What's up, Chase?
- 41:30Speaker 2: I'm going to have Reburger tonight. No, you're not. I
- 41:32Speaker 2: genuinely am.
- 41:33Speaker 3: You've never had Reburger.
- 41:35Speaker 2: I totally am, man. It's just me and my wife
- 41:38Speaker 2: again tonight, so why wouldn't we?
- 41:40Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 41:41Speaker 1: It's that every night, isn't it?
- 41:43Speaker 2: No, no. My little one's with us a lot of
- 41:44Speaker 2: the time.
- 41:45Speaker 3: And what?
- 41:46Speaker 1: She doesn't like Reburger?
- 41:47Speaker 2: No. No, well, it's just when she's home, we cook food.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 41:51Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get it. Yeah,
- 41:55Speaker 2: so it's going to be good. What are you fellas
- 41:56Speaker 2: going to have tonight?
- 41:57Speaker 3: It's a great question.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:59Speaker 3: Last night I had some sort of a beanie number.
- 42:03Speaker 2: Like a hat?
- 42:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like a hat, actually.
- 42:06Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 42:06Speaker 3: A hat full of beans. And the hat was a wrap.
- 42:10Speaker 3: And a little bit of cheese there, a little bit
- 42:11Speaker 3: of avocado. God, it was good.
- 42:13Speaker 1: A burrito.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know what's happening tonight, though. It's going
- 42:16Speaker 3: to be delicious.
- 42:17Speaker 1: You look stoked about it.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Yeah. Wow.
- 42:20Speaker 3: I mean, listen to my voice. I am stoked.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, man, totally. What about you, Keezy?
- 42:24Speaker 1: Well, I'm a happy boy at the moment because we
- 42:26Speaker 1: are clearing out the freezer because we're moving out at
- 42:29Speaker 1: the end of next week. And in the freezer, we
- 42:32Speaker 1: found two little homemade chicken, bacon, and mushroom pies from
- 42:37Speaker 1: my wife's mother. So we've got two of them out.
- 42:40Speaker 1: We're just going to cook both of them because they're
- 42:42Speaker 1: perfect size for one person.
- 42:43Speaker 3: Great.
- 42:44Speaker 1: So that's what we're having tonight.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Can't wait. At Jase's house, you'd have one and have
- 42:47Speaker 3: to split it.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Yes. One serving for two people.
- 42:52Speaker 1: But I'll be hoeing in.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Yeah, totally.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Yeah. What are you having for dinner? Oh, I know
- 42:56Speaker 1: it's not Tuesday.
- 42:57Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Okay. Well, in that case, just play a tune.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so, man. You do it.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Do you guys like Pearl Jam?
- 43:03Speaker 3: Yes.
- 43:05Speaker 4: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Supergrass there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday evening.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Hey, fellas, we have done three Come Dine With Me
- 43:20Speaker 1: episodes here at Radio Hauraki. Mogi, you hosted us first,
- 43:24Speaker 1: then Horty J, then myself, partners included.
- 43:26Speaker 3: Yes.
- 43:27Speaker 1: The last person, the final Come Dine With Me is Pugs.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Now, we've got pretty busy schedules coming up, and we've
- 43:33Speaker 1: locked in a Sunday afternoon. Yes. I believe it starts
- 43:36Speaker 1: at 2 or 3 in the afternoon, I think. The
- 43:40Speaker 1: issue is I fly home from Christchurch. I think I
- 43:44Speaker 1: land at 1 o'clock, so I'll be coming straight to Pugs'
- 43:47Speaker 1: house from the airport.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Yes. With your missus?
- 43:49Speaker 1: With my wife. She'll be there as well, so that's cool.
- 43:53Speaker 1: The issue is I'm trying to make it as fair
- 43:55Speaker 1: as possible to all the other come dine with me's. So, obviously,
- 44:01Speaker 1: I have to show up really, really, really hungover, both
- 44:04Speaker 1: my wife and I do. Yeah. Because that's how Pugs
- 44:07Speaker 1: showed up to ours.
- 44:07Speaker 3: That's true.
- 44:08Speaker 1: And his partner.
- 44:09Speaker 3: That's true. He was in pieces, wasn't he?
- 44:11Speaker 1: He was in pieces. And, you know, like, I was
- 44:13Speaker 1: already up against it.
- 44:15Speaker 2: How come?
- 44:17Speaker 1: Well, it was just a lot going on and the
- 44:18Speaker 1: various rules weren't understood by my wife and I. And look,
- 44:21Speaker 1: I don't want to get into it.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Right, okay.
- 44:23Speaker 1: But I just, I'm trying to make it as fair
- 44:25Speaker 1: as possible by making sure.
- 44:26Speaker 3: I thought you would have had heaps of time because
- 44:28Speaker 3: you made everything the week before.
- 44:29Speaker 1: No, I didn't make everything the week before. I made
- 44:32Speaker 1: it the day before and was just, well, apparently. What's up, Pugs?
- 44:38Speaker 2: What's up?
- 44:38Speaker 3: What do you want?
- 44:39Speaker 2: Oh, hey, guys. Oh, no, I just figured, you know,
- 44:41Speaker 2: this is a team discussion. for a team competition.
- 44:45Speaker 3: Oh, Keezy really didn't want you here, but all good.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:47Speaker 3: No, sweet.
- 44:48Speaker 2: That's all G. So what are you– are you saying, Keezy,
- 44:52Speaker 2: that you're going to turn up massively hungover to them?
- 44:54Speaker 1: Well, I have to do what Pugs and his very
- 44:57Speaker 1: young partner did, which is they– Sorry.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Sorry about what? You don't seem sorry.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Your partner, your lovely partner, they showed up like shells
- 45:08Speaker 1: of humans. Yeah. Yeah. And so I'm like, obviously, I
- 45:11Speaker 1: have to do that. So obviously, the night before, I'm
- 45:13Speaker 1: going to have to do what they did and do
- 45:14Speaker 1: all sorts of bloody drinking.
- 45:17Speaker 3: But the trouble is, though, what might end up happening,
- 45:19Speaker 3: because you know when you get really hung over, pissed up,
- 45:23Speaker 3: hung over the next day, then any food tastes really good.
- 45:27Speaker 1: And boy, did it.
- 45:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Because Jase was massively hungover.
- 45:35Speaker 2: Yeah, totally.
- 45:36Speaker 1: But you said you liked my lasagna.
- 45:38Speaker 2: The only person that was sober was Mogi.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Is anyone thinking straight?
- 45:43Speaker 2: It was very creamy.
- 45:47Speaker 1: This is good stuff, fellas. Hope it worked out for.
- 45:51Speaker 2: You, man.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just going to turn old Pugs off there.
- 45:53Speaker 1: He's off now.
- 45:56Speaker 3: He's been turned off there. So that's what I'm thinking, fellas, anyway. Well,
- 45:59Speaker 3: what was interesting was that you did the first thing,
- 46:01Speaker 3: and we should have done this from the start as well.
- 46:02Speaker 3: The whole thing has been a learning process, and that
- 46:04Speaker 3: is you marked the guests. You marked the guest.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Oh, yes, that's right.
- 46:09Speaker 3: And so that's where it comes into play, I think.
- 46:11Speaker 3: And ultimately, at the end of all of this, we
- 46:13Speaker 3: could have also had best guest.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Yes, that would have been cool. Yes.
- 46:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:17Speaker 1: That's right, because, Jase, you were vaping outside most of
- 46:19Speaker 1: the time.
- 46:20Speaker 3: That's right.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Pugs was still steamed, I'm pretty sure.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Yes.
- 46:24Speaker 1: Mogi, you were very, very, well, I don't even want to,
- 46:26Speaker 1: you were great. I can't look you in the eye
- 46:29Speaker 1: and say because of the score you gave me, but
- 46:30Speaker 1: that's all G.
- 46:31Speaker 3: It's interesting, isn't it? They say that the human psychology
- 46:35Speaker 3: is that you see the snake. So you can have
- 46:38Speaker 3: all these fantastic things going on, but you see the
- 46:40Speaker 3: bad thing. You see the danger. So while I did
- 46:43Speaker 3: give Keezy a six, I'm also the only person out
- 46:45Speaker 3: of everyone to give a 10. But there's no mention
- 46:49Speaker 3: of that. Yeah.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Only mention I get is about the six. Didn't you
- 46:53Speaker 2: give me a 10 as well for something? Oh, my entertainment.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Yeah, your entertainment was unbelievable. But there's no chat about that,
- 46:58Speaker 3: is there? I only get criticised, and that hurts.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I can understand. Are you all good, man? I
- 47:02Speaker 2: can understand, Mogi.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Oh, man, I'm so sorry. Do you guys like ACDC?
- 47:08Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 47:10Speaker 4: Sweet. The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 47:15Speaker 2: White stripes there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 47:19Speaker 2: Friday evening. But right now it's time for.
- 47:22Speaker 3: Be Pretty Nibs 69. At gmail.com. Get in touch with
- 47:31Speaker 3: the fellas.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Meet PaddyNib69 at gmail.com. Real email address. Get in touch
- 47:37Speaker 1: if you genuinely need advice. We'll do our best to
- 47:39Speaker 1: help you out.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Yeah, don't get in touch if you've just taken a piss.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Yeah, totally.
- 47:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:44Speaker 2: I haven't got time for that sort of stuff. I'm
- 47:45Speaker 2: a busy man.
- 47:46Speaker 3: Busy.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Of course, it's 100% anonymous. If you read it on
- 47:50Speaker 1: the show, $ 50 Reburger voucher. G'day fellas, anonymous here. Do
- 47:54Speaker 1: they always start with anonymous here or are you just
- 47:56Speaker 1: saying it like that? Because you normally sign off at
- 47:58Speaker 1: the end, don't you?
- 47:58Speaker 3: You normally say, G'day fellas, going through such and such
- 48:02Speaker 3: and such at the end.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Sincerely anonymous anonymous nah for some reason everyone says g'day
- 48:08Speaker 1: guys anonymous here every single.
- 48:09Speaker 3: One wow it's amazing it's amazing little insight there little
- 48:12Speaker 3: look behind the.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Curtain fellas I'm a blue collar bloke with a hell
- 48:18Speaker 1: of a concept for a TV show got some characters
- 48:22Speaker 1: fleshed out storylines scenarios etc but I don't know how
- 48:25Speaker 1: to put it into a script or what the next
- 48:27Speaker 1: step is what do I do flag it what do
- 48:30Speaker 1: you mean it's too much.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Work It's just such a process, man.
- 48:35Speaker 1: For you guys, man.
- 48:36Speaker 3: Chat GPT.
- 48:38Speaker 2: No, don't use chat GPT. A lot of people bag
- 48:41Speaker 2: the use of AI with the arts.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:45Speaker 3: So much faster. The quality of the product is terrible,
- 48:48Speaker 3: but it's faster.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. It takes so much of the stress
- 48:51Speaker 2: out of it.
- 48:51Speaker 3: And nowadays, nobody wants a good quality product. They only
- 48:54Speaker 3: want shit. Yeah.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Hence why we're on here.
- 48:57Speaker 2: And the reality is, even if you do write it
- 48:59Speaker 2: yourself and it's amazing, no one's going to want it.
- 49:01Speaker 3: No.
- 49:01Speaker 1: But that's just your personal experience.
- 49:05Speaker 2: No one's going to give you any money for it.
- 49:07Speaker 3: No, no.
- 49:07Speaker 1: But I feel like you guys, once again, this is
- 49:09Speaker 1: your personal experience. But for other people.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Do you want me to talk about someone else's personal experience?
- 49:15Speaker 3: All we can go off is our personal experiences.
- 49:17Speaker 2: I mean, do you want me to talk about, you know,
- 49:20Speaker 2: what i've experienced in my life.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Or not i do and to be honest i've heard
- 49:24Speaker 1: a lot of it um but what i'm saying for
- 49:26Speaker 1: this guy he's blue collar he works his ass off
- 49:28Speaker 1: every day he thinks he's got a great idea for
- 49:30Speaker 1: a tv.
- 49:30Speaker 3: Show he probably doesn't yes.
- 49:32Speaker 1: But maybe but what he wants to know is the
- 49:35Speaker 1: next steps well write it down Right, okay, like just
- 49:39Speaker 1: write down the idea? Yeah.
- 49:41Speaker 3: Okay. But you've got to script it out. So the
- 49:43Speaker 3: first thing that I would do is just send the
- 49:46Speaker 3: idea to me, and I can give you some guidance
- 49:50Speaker 3: on whether it is a good idea or not. To Mogi?
- 49:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:52Speaker 3: I don't know. I'll give you some guidance on that one.
- 49:55Speaker 1: What's the deal when it comes to intellectual property and
- 49:57Speaker 1: stuff like that?
- 49:59Speaker 3: It's a lot like looters' rights, actually. Yes.
- 50:02Speaker 1: Which is where you can just sort of take whatever
- 50:04Speaker 1: you want.
- 50:04Speaker 3: Yeah. And then it's like... You know, if you catch me,
- 50:07Speaker 3: you don't like it, let's go. If you come off
- 50:10Speaker 3: second best, then tough titty.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ryan, okay.
- 50:16Speaker 2: There might be a role in it for you, Keezy.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 50:21Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 50:22Speaker 1: But we've got to actually help him out first.
- 50:24Speaker 2: True, true, true.
- 50:25Speaker 3: So he's a blue collar guy.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Yep.
- 50:27Speaker 3: Like a lot of my family.
- 50:28Speaker 1: So I can picture my cousins and stuff, I'm picturing them. Yeah.
- 50:31Speaker 1: And they want to have a crack at TV because
- 50:33Speaker 1: it's an exciting world, but it's always like, how do
- 50:35Speaker 1: I get into it?
- 50:35Speaker 2: It's not really, it's hell. Right.
- 50:39Speaker 3: It looks exciting from the outside, I'll give you that.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Right.
- 50:41Speaker 3: But then once you get into it.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Shit. Hell.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Yeah. Look at us with all our success. You know, Keezer,
- 50:49Speaker 3: you can talk about this. You've been through hell. All
- 50:51Speaker 3: those ideas you've had, all those series you've presented, and
- 50:53Speaker 3: then you just get some rugby league player comes along
- 50:55Speaker 3: and takes it all away. I'm amazed you're still on
- 50:57Speaker 3: two feet. Jason and I talk about this all the time.
- 51:01Speaker 3: If that had happened to us, we'd be lying inside
- 51:04Speaker 3: in our bed with the curtains closed. We'd never come out.
- 51:06Speaker 2: I would have thrown in the towel three years ago.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Well, that's why, fellas, sometimes I'm not on
- 51:11Speaker 1: two feet, sometimes I'm on all fours.
- 51:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:15Speaker 1: So I hope that helps, Anonymous. Good luck. Just put
- 51:18Speaker 1: it into chat GPT or tell your idea to Mo.
- 51:21Speaker 4: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 51:26Speaker 4: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 51:37Speaker 5: There you go, you mad bastards.
- 51:50Speaker 2: That's a big show done and dusted for you Friday
- 51:52Speaker 2: night as we head into the long weekend. What's the
- 51:56Speaker 2: disclaimer clip that we've got here today, Keezy?
- 51:59Speaker 1: Today's disclaimer, which is bonus content we do, an extra podcast.
- 52:03Speaker 1: We were discussing Dreaming. A lot. So here's a clip
- 52:06Speaker 1: that comes out at 7.30 tonight.
- 52:09Speaker 3: My first job out of school was a travelling salesman.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Poor person, but in my case, man.
- 52:15Speaker 3: It was a man. Definitely a man.
- 52:18Speaker 1: While his co-worker was driving. Do you remember that story?
- 52:21Speaker 3: It's one of the greats. It is one of the greats.
- 52:25Speaker 2: It's a fascinating story that you should definitely listen to
- 52:28Speaker 2: that podcast.
- 52:29Speaker 1: It's a hell of a yarn.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Yes. I've forgotten about that yarn. I haven't.
- 52:32Speaker 2: No.
- 52:33Speaker 1: I literally haven't. Whenever anyone mentions that particular topic and
- 52:37Speaker 1: you'll have to listen to the podcast, I always think.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Old Mogi.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Reminds me of old Mogi in the car with his workmate.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Shock and bust.
- 52:44Speaker 3: No, it's nothing to do with me. Yeah. It's nothing
- 52:46Speaker 3: to do with me. Perfectly natural.
- 52:48Speaker 2: Hey, Mogi, I don't think you realise this. We've got
- 52:50Speaker 2: three days off, mate. What's the plan in the Mogi household?
- 52:54Speaker 3: Well, I've got a little bit on. What have I got?
- 52:56Speaker 2: Tomorrow I'm going to go to, I might be playing golf. Oh,
- 52:59Speaker 2: my God.
- 53:02Speaker 3: And then I'm going to Armageddon.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Are you really?
- 53:05Speaker 3: Yeah, going to Armageddon. And then on Sunday, I'm going
- 53:08Speaker 3: to Armageddon. because old Keezy's going to be there.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Wait are you going to Armageddon because we're going yeah
- 53:13Speaker 1: really yeah if anyone's going to Armageddon by the way
- 53:17Speaker 1: I'll be there which is the nerd fest yeah on
- 53:19Speaker 1: Sunday Sunday to be honest it's today yes Saturday Sunday
- 53:23Speaker 1: Monday because my gaming podcast is going to be there.
- 53:25Speaker 3: That's right from lunchtime onwards 12 till 2 you'll be
- 53:28Speaker 3: there won't you Keezy so I'll be down there for
- 53:29Speaker 3: that and then in and around that I'll probably be
- 53:32Speaker 3: hammered yeah yeah nice what do you.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Mean in and around can you not show up hammered
- 53:37Speaker 1: Jason what are you doing.
- 53:39Speaker 2: Well, I want to know, so you're going to Armageddon
- 53:41Speaker 2: on the Sunday. What else are you doing?
- 53:43Speaker 1: Okay, so tonight my wife and I are packing and
- 53:46Speaker 1: taking a load to the storage unit.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Yes, nice.
- 53:51Speaker 1: Tomorrow morning we're loading up my truck and driving it
- 53:54Speaker 1: down to Tauranga to store at my parents' house. Sunday
- 53:57Speaker 1: morning we then leave early and come back so I
- 53:59Speaker 1: can go to Armageddon. And then Sunday after that we
- 54:01Speaker 1: go look at a house and then we go out
- 54:03Speaker 1: for dinner with some friends. Then on Monday we're packing
- 54:06Speaker 1: the house.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Yeah, nice. Yeah.
- 54:09Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 54:11Speaker 2: Where to begin?
- 54:11Speaker 1: Don't even worry about it. Why don't you tell us
- 54:15Speaker 1: on Monday?
- 54:15Speaker 2: No, wait, Casey, please. How rude. Now, let's see. I
- 54:20Speaker 2: think tonight... because my wife just texted me and said,
- 54:24Speaker 2: do you want me to pick you up? Because she's
- 54:25Speaker 2: just finished work too. And I was like, you know what, darling,
- 54:28Speaker 2: to be honest, it's a beautiful night for a walk.
- 54:30Speaker 2: So no, thank you.
- 54:32Speaker 1: We should put the booster seat in the car for nothing.
- 54:34Speaker 2: I'll meet her at the apartment. And then I think
- 54:39Speaker 2: maybe just chill out for a while, then go out
- 54:42Speaker 2: for a nice casual dinner on the town. Might even
- 54:47Speaker 2: get ourselves a little treat on the way home there
- 54:49Speaker 2: and there.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Some yoghurt.
- 54:51Speaker 2: Then go back, probably watch something. Don't know what, actually.
- 54:58Speaker 1: A bit of a loss at the moment. Hey, goodbye.
- 55:00Speaker 2: Have a good long weekend.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Love you. See you Tuesday.
