- 1:10Speaker 1: I thought it was that new calumn that we use
- 1:13Speaker 1: and U c A l M. It's a great product
- 1:15Speaker 1: that app that we use to sleep better. Yes, yeah,

- 1:39Speaker 1: I okay, yeah, well, thank you, well, thank you for
- 1:42Speaker 1: coming today and helping this out here. So, so where
- 1:45Speaker 1: is your lovely mother? Because she was here yesterday? So
- 1:48Speaker 1: what she just she's what's she doing?
- 1:51Speaker 2: My mom went back to Texas?
- 1:52Speaker 4: She did?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, because your sister's graduating from high school, yes
- 1:56Speaker 1: she is. Well, that is exciting. So she's very busy,
- 1:59Speaker 1: and you're very busy. Right, you're you're here living in La.
- 2:02Speaker 2: I'm adulting, you're adulting.
- 2:04Speaker 1: How's that going going?
- 2:05Speaker 2: Well? I really I really love living.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Looks good in January?
- 2:08Speaker 5: You do?
- 2:08Speaker 1: Okay? Well, good, thank you.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I love the sun.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I love the sun too. I wish it was out
- 2:14Speaker 1: here we've been since we've been in La. I brought
- 2:15Speaker 1: the clouds in the rain, I guess.
- 2:18Speaker 2: But and it's looking a little more like Seattle, yeah
- 2:21Speaker 2: reason days.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but but it's still fun. Well, I'm so glad.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I'm thrilled that you could join us and sub in
- 2:27Speaker 1: today evening. Well, thank you. Yeah, this is gonna be
- 2:30Speaker 1: fun because we are gonna have a fun, fun show today.
- 2:34Speaker 1: You know why, because it's super fun. I mean, I
- 2:37Speaker 1: love this. I love what we're talking about today because
- 2:42Speaker 1: I love Carmel. So let me ask you a question.
- 2:46Speaker 1: What if something as simple as a piece of caramel
- 2:50Speaker 1: could shift your whole mood or even your whole day?
- 2:54Speaker 1: Can you imagine that?
- 2:57Speaker 3: I personally, I would like to Well, Okay, I think
- 3:01Speaker 3: we know someone.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Let's go for it. Yes, because today's guest believes that
- 3:05Speaker 1: it can. She's a former Hollywood executive and she turned
- 3:09Speaker 1: entrepreneur founder of Good Carmel. She's the mom of two daughters,
- 3:15Speaker 1: and her company is based in Bozeman, Montana. Please welcome
- 3:19Speaker 1: Patty West. Welcome to the Mom's Called Patty.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Thanks for having me.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I love this.
- 3:28Speaker 1: This is so I mean, it's just as we say
- 3:30Speaker 1: here in the Mom's Club. This is amazing the whole story.
- 3:33Speaker 1: So can you take us through from your concept to
- 3:37Speaker 1: the kitchen? How did this? How did Good Carmel start?
- 3:40Speaker 1: Tell us the story?
- 3:42Speaker 6: Okay, it's a little long. I'll try to shorten it
- 3:44Speaker 6: as much as I can. I was dating this really
- 3:49Speaker 6: outdoorsy guy, and he got me into hiking, and he
- 3:52Speaker 6: brought a ziploc bag of carmel that had bought his
- 3:56Speaker 6: boss had made, and I thought, wait, you could I
- 4:00Speaker 6: just made karmel on this stove. I mean, I wasn't
- 4:02Speaker 6: a cook or a chef or anything like that, but
- 4:05Speaker 6: I thought that sounds kind of cool. I think I
- 4:07Speaker 6: want to do it. So I played around and I
- 4:11Speaker 6: got my mom's old cookbooks like Betty Croper and Good Housekeeping,
- 4:15Speaker 6: and I tried a bunch of different recipes and I
- 4:17Speaker 6: came up with some caramel that I loved, and I
- 4:20Speaker 6: thought this would make a really cool, like Christmas gift
- 4:23Speaker 6: for all the people I worked with, friends and family.
- 4:26Speaker 6: And then I got to thinking, like what if I
- 4:28Speaker 6: tried to make it more meaningful, Like how could I
- 4:30Speaker 6: add some meaning into it? And I decided to go
- 4:34Speaker 6: to my collection of inspirational quotes. I always was collecting
- 4:37Speaker 6: quotes and writing them down on everything, and I had
- 4:39Speaker 6: a friend helped me figure out.
- 4:40Speaker 4: How to create a logo and it was a little Buddha.
- 4:43Speaker 6: And I wrapped each caramel with quotes and got some
- 4:46Speaker 6: packaging and gave it to friends, and literally the next
- 4:49Speaker 6: day everyone's like you need to quit your job at
- 4:51Speaker 6: Corner Brothers and start this business.
- 4:53Speaker 4: This is a product.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Wow. You know I always think things happen like it's
- 4:58Speaker 1: this was meant to because you picked You picked caramel,
- 5:03Speaker 1: Like if you had chosen chocolate, it wouldn't have worked together,
- 5:06Speaker 1: you know, like because it's karma with an L at
- 5:08Speaker 1: the end, and then you're bringing in good karma and
- 5:12Speaker 1: with as part of your product, you're right providing.
- 5:15Speaker 6: And my brother's really punny, he's a bit of a
- 5:18Speaker 6: wordster jokester, and he I was talking about bringing some
- 5:21Speaker 6: caramel to go visit my nana and he's like, that'd
- 5:24Speaker 6: be good carmel.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, there you go.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Like that's it. Like all these little pieces just were sort.
- 5:30Speaker 6: Of floating around in my head and it just all
- 5:33Speaker 6: really came together. It was a total like Oprah aha moment.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Well, and speaking of Oprah, so you were discovered by
- 5:40Speaker 1: and then you know what, some of our other guests
- 5:42Speaker 1: we've had on the show, including one I'll mention a
- 5:44Speaker 1: little bit later, they started by Oprah discovering their product.
- 5:50Speaker 1: So that's what happened with Good Caramels. I understand. So
- 5:53Speaker 1: you were part of Oprah's Favorite Things. How did that happen?
- 5:56Speaker 6: Yeah, So, while I was still working in Hollywood my
- 6:00Speaker 6: regular job, I was, you know, starting to create the
- 6:02Speaker 6: business at night, and a friend of mine had given
- 6:06Speaker 6: a sample to another person who worked on a blog
- 6:09Speaker 6: called Daily Candy, and we got in that blog and
- 6:12Speaker 6: like as soon as they said, you're going to be
- 6:14Speaker 6: in this blog.
- 6:15Speaker 4: So I built a website really.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Fast, and someone from Harpo Films, Oprah's film production company,
- 6:22Speaker 6: saw that blog and bought some and sent it to
- 6:25Speaker 6: Chicago for them to try it out.
- 6:27Speaker 4: So it really just happened really organically.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Wow, you know, I've so this is the second story
- 6:32Speaker 1: where something like that has happened. I don't know that
- 6:35Speaker 1: we're going to suggest that all the moms out there
- 6:37Speaker 1: that start making things and sending it over to Harpo
- 6:40Speaker 1: or to Oprah, you're going to be in the Favorite Things.
- 6:42Speaker 1: But that is a very cool story.
- 6:45Speaker 6: Yeah. So we're way too small to handle that level
- 6:49Speaker 6: of exposure.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Six months in, I can imagine, we had to shut down.
- 6:54Speaker 6: The show aired like November twenty fifth, you know, it
- 6:57Speaker 6: was her holiday things, and the next we had to
- 7:00Speaker 6: shut down our website for the rest of the year
- 7:02Speaker 6: and just frantically try to fulfill all those orders.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's a good problem to have, I guess
- 7:07Speaker 1: as it could be. Yeah, no, that is great. So
- 7:10Speaker 1: you what, so tell us a little about your career
- 7:12Speaker 1: in Hollywood. So what did you like? I want to
- 7:15Speaker 1: call it give up because you didn't. You're into something
- 7:17Speaker 1: really amazing. But what were you doing before you were
- 7:20Speaker 1: doing this?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 7:22Speaker 6: I was a publicist for television shows, so not specifically
- 7:26Speaker 6: the actors, but the entire show. So I worked with
- 7:30Speaker 6: like twentieth Century Fox, worked on the studio side. They
- 7:33Speaker 6: would hire us, and then ultimately I ended up working
- 7:36Speaker 6: at Corner Brothers TV Network the WB.
- 7:40Speaker 4: So we would handle publicity for all the.
- 7:43Speaker 6: Shows sorry as they would launch, we would get talk
- 7:47Speaker 6: shows for the actors. We would you know, book the
- 7:50Speaker 6: actors on talk shows or you know, pitch a magazine
- 7:55Speaker 6: feature and we would handle.
- 7:57Speaker 4: All of that. So it was a lot of travel,
- 7:59Speaker 4: very glamorous.
- 8:00Speaker 6: I worked with some wonderful, wonderful people like Sarah Michelle
- 8:03Speaker 6: Geller on Buffy, and Carrie Russell on Felicity, Christine Baranski
- 8:07Speaker 6: on Sybil, just really iconic women.
- 8:11Speaker 4: It was a great, great job.
- 8:13Speaker 1: HM. So what did it feel like? What prompted you
- 8:17Speaker 1: then to make this change? Because when you have a
- 8:20Speaker 1: successful career like that, I mean, I imagine if I
- 8:22Speaker 1: shared that career story with a lot of people, they'd
- 8:24Speaker 1: be like, well, she stayed in and of course that's
- 8:26Speaker 1: glamorous and wonderful. What was in you that you decided,
- 8:30Speaker 1: you know what, I think I'm going to make this
- 8:33Speaker 1: kind of risky at time. I mean, because being an
- 8:35Speaker 1: entrepreneur is a risky endeavor. What made you make that decision?
- 8:40Speaker 1: You know?
- 8:41Speaker 6: When I went to college, I did an undergraduate business
- 8:45Speaker 6: program at the University of Virginia, and so I knew
- 8:48Speaker 6: a little bit about all of it. I'd marketing it, accounting, finance.
- 8:54Speaker 6: You know, I felt like I had more to give
- 8:58Speaker 6: than what I was doing in my job.
- 9:00Speaker 4: I had more that I wanted to do.
- 9:02Speaker 6: It just seemed like I had more creativity and more
- 9:05Speaker 6: ideas than what was being captured in that job.
- 9:09Speaker 1: And so now you did did you immediately? You're in
- 9:13Speaker 1: both You're in Montana now, so yeah, when was when
- 9:16Speaker 1: did that happen? Because the company's based there? Correct?
- 9:20Speaker 6: Yeah, so yeah, after Oprah, I mean, we you know,
- 9:23Speaker 6: slept for like a week after that rush, and then
- 9:26Speaker 6: I hired someone to I'm like, find me someone who
- 9:28Speaker 6: can manufacture this for us.
- 9:31Speaker 4: I'll go anywhere. I didn't have kids. I just had
- 9:33Speaker 4: a boyfriend. We weren't even married yet.
- 9:35Speaker 6: And she brought us this article of a woman in Bozeman,
- 9:39Speaker 6: Montana who had started a caramel company. She bought all
- 9:43Speaker 6: this equipment. Didn't have a ton of sales. I had
- 9:45Speaker 6: a ton of sales, no equipment. So she took us on.
- 9:50Speaker 6: So they manufacture you know, our caramel for us, along
- 9:54Speaker 6: with theirs as well, and so we moved to Bozeman, Montana.
- 9:57Speaker 6: For that partnership. Were two separate companies. But it it's
- 10:00Speaker 6: been amazing.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Oh that's great. Well, Montana's beautiful. But when I when
- 10:05Speaker 1: I think of Bozeman, I always think of that Big
- 10:08Speaker 1: Bang Theory episode where Sheldon's trying to get away from
- 10:10Speaker 1: Pasadena to go somewhere safe and he ends up in Bozeman.
- 10:13Speaker 1: And so you know, I'm never been there, but I mean,
- 10:16Speaker 1: I know that Montana's gorgeous. Well that had to be that.
- 10:19Speaker 1: It'd be quite a change from Los Angeles to go
- 10:21Speaker 1: to Bozeman, Montana. What was that like?
- 10:24Speaker 6: It was it was a really big change. Bozeman's nice
- 10:27Speaker 6: in that it's a university town, so there are people
- 10:30Speaker 6: from everywhere.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Oh yeah, there is a lot.
- 10:32Speaker 6: There are a lot of urban transplants who have ended
- 10:35Speaker 6: up here. But I mean it, there's snow. I'm looking
- 10:39Speaker 6: at my window at snow. It snowed yesterday.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Oh wow. Well it's a little chili here. You're not
- 10:45Speaker 1: missing as far as you're not. The warm weather is
- 10:47Speaker 1: not not here today.
- 10:48Speaker 2: It's a little colder in Montana.
- 10:50Speaker 4: But what's been neat?
- 10:51Speaker 6: You know, when I moved here, I wasn't thinking about family,
- 10:54Speaker 6: and it's been an amazing place to raise kids. My
- 10:58Speaker 6: girls are super outdoorsy and really grounded, and it's been
- 11:02Speaker 6: a great experience.
- 11:03Speaker 1: So do your daughters. I know, in some of the
- 11:06Speaker 1: mom preneur sort of things that we talk about on
- 11:08Speaker 1: this show, they include their kids. I mean sometimes right
- 11:12Speaker 1: down to you know, packaging the item and shipping it,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and like, have you integrated your kids or are they
- 11:19Speaker 1: involved in all in it? Or how does that work.
- 11:23Speaker 6: They're both super busy with their own things, but certainly
- 11:26Speaker 6: around Christmas time I rope them in and that's exactly
- 11:28Speaker 6: what they're doing. They are packaging, they are shipping.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Absolutely, I feel like this.
- 11:34Speaker 1: To me, this would be a very fun. Well, first
- 11:36Speaker 1: of all, I think it's great. When I started to
- 11:39Speaker 1: do this get ready for this interview, I thought, well,
- 11:41Speaker 1: there's that old tomato versus tomato thing, like people say
- 11:45Speaker 1: caramel or caramel, but in your case, you would have
- 11:48Speaker 1: to say caramel every time because and there's no.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Correct Now I'm not consistent, it's true, I do say carara.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Oh really, okay, I think both Well, it works for
- 11:56Speaker 1: this for sure, But to me, you have like it.
- 11:59Speaker 1: It seems like a fun. If I had a product
- 12:01Speaker 1: like this, didn't it be able to come up with
- 12:04Speaker 1: inspirational quotes or like fun? How do you do that?
- 12:07Speaker 1: And that that has to be fun? How do you
- 12:09Speaker 1: choose what it's going to go in the product as
- 12:11Speaker 1: far as the quotes, because that's a big part of
- 12:13Speaker 1: what you're it's what you're selling it is.
- 12:17Speaker 6: And there are also there are a lot of fake
- 12:18Speaker 6: quotes out there. You know, we'll find a quote that's
- 12:20Speaker 6: amazing and you look it up and it's like this,
- 12:22Speaker 6: this person never said this quote. But my criteria is
- 12:25Speaker 6: it has to be positive and about either being good
- 12:30Speaker 6: to yourself, being good to others, being good to the earth.
- 12:34Speaker 6: So that's that's really my that's how I try to
- 12:38Speaker 6: live my life.
- 12:39Speaker 1: And you're very and you're also really into sustainability. I
- 12:42Speaker 1: mean your company is trying to be positive all the
- 12:45Speaker 1: way around in terms of how you conduct the company.
- 12:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it's called good Kramel. Yeah, like if
- 12:53Speaker 4: we are what are we doing?
- 12:54Speaker 1: Well, that's true. If you were polluting everywhere, that would
- 12:57Speaker 1: probably be bad caramelsthing. Yeah, yeah, no, I think that's great. Well,
- 13:01Speaker 1: we actually have some samples here that you were kind
- 13:05Speaker 1: enough to provide, and I mean there's they've got, Like,
- 13:07Speaker 1: I'm going to keep this one because everyone knows I'm
- 13:10Speaker 1: the best dog mom ever, so I cannot wait to
- 13:13Speaker 1: uh to read what it's in here. Oh when it's
- 13:17Speaker 1: also gluten free and so that's great. So even my
- 13:20Speaker 1: son who's got a gluten intolerant best cat mom, it's
- 13:27Speaker 1: you are okay good, that's yeah. I Cats kind of
- 13:32Speaker 1: take care of themselves though, don't they. I mean or
- 13:34Speaker 1: I don't know, like I always feel like a cat
- 13:38Speaker 1: a mom. Everybody needs a mom, that's true.
- 13:40Speaker 6: They make their emotions heard. Oh okay, they feel things
- 13:46Speaker 6: pretty deeply.
- 13:48Speaker 1: They do.
- 13:48Speaker 2: They're very opinionad.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Your mom is a badass mama, so that's pretty perfect
- 13:53Speaker 1: for her.
- 13:54Speaker 2: But Monica, I think you need this one.
- 13:55Speaker 1: This one is you are brilliant and kind and super hot.
- 13:59Speaker 2: So No, that does not say super salt super hot.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Oh, stupid hot, so hot. I can't read. That's my problem.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Oh yes, stupid hot. Well that works too.
- 14:12Speaker 2: It's illiterate and stupid hot.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that just makes me stupid, right, I can't read.
- 14:17Speaker 2: I'm stupid hot.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I'm stupid hot and stupid. No, that would not be
- 14:21Speaker 1: good caramel to tell me I'm stupid.
- 14:24Speaker 2: I mean, well, I want good car stupid hot.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I mean that I'm whatever. You're super hot, super cool.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I love this, and I'm sure it's delicious too. So
- 14:32Speaker 1: does it come in I see sea salt caramel? Does
- 14:35Speaker 1: it come in different flavors of caramel?
- 14:37Speaker 4: Or yeah?
- 14:38Speaker 6: We do vanilla sea salt and chocolate sea salt in
- 14:41Speaker 6: all of the boxes.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Oh it's your favorite sea salt.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Okay, Oh wow.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Whenever, whenever I'm.
- 14:48Speaker 6: Like walking through the office and I think I better
- 14:50Speaker 6: do a quick quality check, I'm always grabbing this.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I think that sounds like a perfect plan.
- 14:56Speaker 3: No, I think I'd have a serious problem working in
- 15:00Speaker 3: it's like a sweet business like that, because I would
- 15:02Speaker 3: want to be quality testing a little bit too much.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Mm hmmm.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I'm working in retail right now and I can barely
- 15:09Speaker 3: get through the day without buying something, so I this
- 15:12Speaker 3: would be a big challenge.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Yeah, this would be super tempting for me. And that's
- 15:16Speaker 1: for sure because I love caramel.
- 15:18Speaker 6: So we're doing when we hire like that's one of
- 15:20Speaker 6: the biggest perks is literally all the caramel you can eat,
- 15:23Speaker 6: like take it home.
- 15:24Speaker 4: We have a ton of scraps or like.
- 15:26Speaker 6: Misshapen ones, and people are just like leaving home with
- 15:28Speaker 6: like huge bags.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Oh wow, that's nice.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I have a friend who works at a gym and
- 15:33Speaker 3: complains about not being able to have a gym membership
- 15:36Speaker 3: at the gym they work at. I'm gonna tell them
- 15:37Speaker 3: to quit and work for good Karmo, because then they
- 15:40Speaker 3: won't have to worry about the gym.
- 15:42Speaker 2: They can just eat caramel.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Mm hmm. No, that's good.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Well, then she did, and they'll send them Bozeman.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Moved them up to Bozeman. Yeah, I think they'd they
- 15:51Speaker 1: would love it. It's gorgeous up there for one night
- 15:53Speaker 1: for what I understand. So what is your favorite quote, like,
- 15:57Speaker 1: what inspires you? If you got if what quote would
- 16:00Speaker 1: you want in your box of caramels?
- 16:04Speaker 2: Have a few.
- 16:06Speaker 6: The one that I love is help your brothers boat
- 16:09Speaker 6: across and your own will reach the shore. That's not
- 16:13Speaker 6: like a Hindu proverb, but you know, when you help
- 16:17Speaker 6: someone out, you're not inconveniencing yourself. You're actually getting yourself
- 16:21Speaker 6: something too, you know, mm hmm.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Plato.
- 16:26Speaker 6: There's a Plato quote that I like. It's be kind Forever.
- 16:29Speaker 6: I think it's everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
- 16:34Speaker 4: So I'm terrify.
- 16:35Speaker 6: But you know, every single person you encounter has such
- 16:40Speaker 6: a backstory that you don't.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Know, right.
- 16:45Speaker 6: Yeah, And I think it's another one that I really
- 16:48Speaker 6: like is if you're facing in the right direction, all
- 16:51Speaker 6: we have to do is keep walking.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:55Speaker 6: If your intention is pointed right, each day you're moving
- 16:59Speaker 6: it forward.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I love. I love the positivity of it. Now
- 17:05Speaker 1: for our moms out there who are trying to start
- 17:08Speaker 1: their own businesses, business is business sometimes, do you ever
- 17:11Speaker 1: find there's a tension between the business side of it
- 17:15Speaker 1: and your desire to keep it positive and sweet and great.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I mean, do you feel any of that? How do
- 17:24Speaker 1: you deal with that? How do you handle that part
- 17:26Speaker 1: of it?
- 17:27Speaker 6: I say no to a lot of things, like there's
- 17:30Speaker 6: so much that would have grown our business that I
- 17:34Speaker 6: just declined throughout the years. You know, I shut down
- 17:38Speaker 6: for three months each time I had a baby, just
- 17:40Speaker 6: shut it down, wow, and came back and hoped that
- 17:42Speaker 6: customers came back.
- 17:44Speaker 4: We chose to don't. We don't sell to stores.
- 17:47Speaker 6: You can only buy it on our website, which you know,
- 17:51Speaker 6: we could be much much bigger, but less profitable and less.
- 17:56Speaker 4: Time with my babies.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 18:00Speaker 6: Yeah and so so yeah, I mean I held I've
- 18:02Speaker 6: hold I've held it back a ton.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Well that's great.
- 18:05Speaker 2: That's really admirable.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 2: I think people will get lost.
- 18:10Speaker 4: And pick them up from school and go to the plays.
- 18:13Speaker 6: I got to do all this stuff while also having
- 18:15Speaker 6: this great business.
- 18:16Speaker 1: That is great.
- 18:17Speaker 3: They appreciate that more than you know. Also having a
- 18:20Speaker 3: parent that's there to go to those events.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Well, that is true. That's why I retired from law
- 18:25Speaker 1: there for a while, so I could spend time with
- 18:28Speaker 1: my kids, so that I could become the team mom
- 18:30Speaker 1: of my son's baseball team and then become a little
- 18:34Speaker 1: much for that. But I but I was there for him.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Hope you knew that. No, that's really cool. Do you
- 18:40Speaker 1: do that with all your employees too? Like do they
- 18:42Speaker 1: have a pretty generous liberal policy as far as like
- 18:46Speaker 1: if they have a baby or how does that work?
- 18:49Speaker 6: I mean, I'm not a huge company, so I can't
- 18:50Speaker 6: provide all those huge benefits that large companies.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Yeah, but yeah, we say that.
- 18:55Speaker 6: You know, we want there, you know, your job to
- 18:59Speaker 6: fit your lifestyle. So we work as much as we can.
- 19:01Speaker 6: If you want to work from six am to noon, great,
- 19:04Speaker 6: if you want to work from noon to six great.
- 19:06Speaker 6: You know, we want to try and make it work.
- 19:08Speaker 6: And yes, we have a lot of people who have
- 19:10Speaker 6: to leave for kids stuff, And I'm thumbs up on
- 19:14Speaker 6: that big time.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Well, you know it's interesting you said, you know, you
- 19:17Speaker 1: could be a lot bigger and if you were at
- 19:18Speaker 1: the mindset you know, I'm going to grow and be
- 19:21Speaker 1: this amazing. You know, I'm gonna be bought by private
- 19:23Speaker 1: equity or once you could do that, But you're super
- 19:27Speaker 1: successful with keeping it within your own values. I mean,
- 19:31Speaker 1: like you just you've been on the Today Show You've
- 19:34Speaker 1: been featured in Forbes, You're everywhere, and yet you've stayed
- 19:39Speaker 1: true to your mission and your values and you're being
- 19:42Speaker 1: rewarded for that. If you know, that kind of attention
- 19:45Speaker 1: is like the reward. But I think that's a lesson
- 19:48Speaker 1: for all those moms out there who want to start
- 19:50Speaker 1: their own company. You don't have to, you know, stick
- 19:53Speaker 1: to your values. What you're trying to do, and you'll
- 19:57Speaker 1: be You'll be rewarded in so many ways, is not
- 20:00Speaker 1: just financially. So that's what's so cool about what you're doing. Well,
- 20:04Speaker 1: what's the next step for good Karmel? What do you
- 20:06Speaker 1: want any thing in the future here that you've got
- 20:10Speaker 1: planned that we'd love to know about?
- 20:13Speaker 6: Great question, you know, No, we're just going to We
- 20:16Speaker 6: just keep growing every year, and you know all those
- 20:19Speaker 6: boxes you showed, that's what we're really enjoying is all
- 20:23Speaker 6: those different designs, seeing why people are ordering and what
- 20:26Speaker 6: they're sending, what their gift messages are, and then creating
- 20:29Speaker 6: new boxes based on you know, what people are looking for.
- 20:32Speaker 4: It's been really fun.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Yeah, because didn't you start out where people were like,
- 20:36Speaker 1: do people like if I've said I want to send
- 20:39Speaker 1: something to all of my my Zoomer moms out there
- 20:43Speaker 1: who've been so wonderful to us and been a big
- 20:46Speaker 1: part of the show. Do I give you suggestions for Hey,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I want you to send this message? Or yeah, is
- 20:53Speaker 1: that how that you can custom order?
- 20:56Speaker 2: Right?
- 20:57Speaker 6: Like half of our business is custom orders. So we
- 20:59Speaker 6: were with brands like Nike and Microsoft and Evada and
- 21:04Speaker 6: you know, huge great brands and they'll create their own
- 21:07Speaker 6: box label or we'll create it with them and then
- 21:10Speaker 6: they can pick you know where we have quotes wrapped
- 21:13Speaker 6: around the caramels. They can put corporate messaging like Amex
- 21:17Speaker 6: puts their their brand message. But like right now, we're
- 21:21Speaker 6: printing something today for a funeral, for a you know,
- 21:25Speaker 6: a service.
- 21:26Speaker 4: We've got the photo of the.
- 21:28Speaker 6: Person and people will put quotes from their loved one
- 21:34Speaker 6: who has passed, like funny quotes. Like people make it
- 21:36Speaker 6: so creative. It's so fun to see what people do.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Oh wow, I feel like there's so much opportunity in
- 21:42Speaker 3: making custom orders, and I think it's really cool that
- 21:45Speaker 3: you guys are able to do that. It's a way
- 21:48Speaker 3: to expand the good karma exactly.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Well, I love that, and you know me, I'm such
- 21:53Speaker 1: a shopper. You're You're probably gonna hear a lot from me, actually,
- 21:56Speaker 1: because now I'm going to custom order everything all my
- 22:00Speaker 1: all my friends are gonna like the Mom's Club, our
- 22:03Speaker 1: own little group of friends. Absolutely don't don't tell your mom,
- 22:06Speaker 1: but yeah, I can do a custom order to the
- 22:09Speaker 1: friends we call our we call ourselves the Disney Moms.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Is kind of a long story, but yeah, something like that,
- 22:19Speaker 1: that'd be fun.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Or weddings a wedding.
- 22:21Speaker 4: We do a ton of weddings. Great, we have We
- 22:24Speaker 4: have a mom who.
- 22:25Speaker 6: Just ordered some boxes for her daughter celebration just graduated
- 22:30Speaker 6: from med school. And on the wrappers, instead of where
- 22:35Speaker 6: we put you know, good karma, she put its doctor.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Actually, I love it.
- 22:41Speaker 1: That is cute. Well, and I know I noticed how
- 22:44Speaker 1: you asked that question. Georgia, you do weddings great. Do
- 22:49Speaker 1: you have anything didn't tell your mother? No? No, no, A
- 22:51Speaker 1: very serious boyfriend by the wedding.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Oh, I thought we come into my cousin's weddings this year.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I thought we could make an announcement here on the
- 22:59Speaker 1: mom's while your mom wasn't wasn't here.
- 23:02Speaker 3: She'd kill me if I made without her. But that's
- 23:05Speaker 3: the number one problem.
- 23:06Speaker 1: But I tell you what if you if that happens,
- 23:10Speaker 1: then I think.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Then I'm getting to myself some good custom Karmel.
- 23:13Speaker 1: You should.
- 23:13Speaker 3: I also, I think that it's I love that you've
- 23:17Speaker 3: made this because something about I mean witty jokes that
- 23:22Speaker 3: women make to each other and like that. It's doctor
- 23:24Speaker 3: actually like that kind of stuff. That you're combining it
- 23:27Speaker 3: with a suite. It makes for a really unique experience,
- 23:31Speaker 3: and I just think that's so cool that you can
- 23:33Speaker 3: share that. I think it's a feminist humor some of it.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Yeah, what's the most interesting request you've ever got? When
- 23:43Speaker 1: you're like, wow, where did that one come from? But
- 23:45Speaker 1: that's kind of interesting.
- 23:47Speaker 6: I think the I think the best one was honestly
- 23:50Speaker 6: for a celebration of life, where they put the funniest things,
- 23:54Speaker 6: like the funny things this man has said in his life,
- 23:57Speaker 6: and they were racy, like they were Oh, it was
- 24:00Speaker 6: really funny. I pictured all the family members opening these
- 24:03Speaker 6: and cracking up.
- 24:05Speaker 1: That's good. Yeah, that is because that that is a
- 24:09Speaker 1: very positive thing and a various kind of stressful situation.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna make a note of that too, because my husband,
- 24:16Speaker 1: he already wrote his entire We went to the computer
- 24:19Speaker 1: one day and my kids went to the printer and
- 24:21Speaker 1: they looked on it and my husband had written his
- 24:23Speaker 1: own funeral out because I guess he doesn't trust us
- 24:26Speaker 1: to do a really good job with it. So we're
- 24:28Speaker 1: just gonna surprise. Yeah, we're gonna surprise him with him
- 24:32Speaker 1: and it was Carmel. Yeah, we're gonna add and tell
- 24:34Speaker 1: him we're gonna do that. I think that would be
- 24:36Speaker 1: very cool. Well, this is so interesting and I can
- 24:40Speaker 1: already promise you you've got you just whatever happens with
- 24:43Speaker 1: the rest of the show, I promise you've got a
- 24:44Speaker 1: really good customer. That would be me. You're gonna be
- 24:47Speaker 1: very happy that you were on this.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Show because I order lots of stuff.
- 24:51Speaker 1: But we have some other women who also are interested,
- 24:55Speaker 1: and those are our zoomer moms. Welcome zoomer moms, Welcome
- 24:59Speaker 1: to them. Hell, well, this is so much fun. And
- 25:07Speaker 1: I have to say to all you zoomer moms, the
- 25:09Speaker 1: ones that are here, We're so thrilled that you're here.
- 25:12Speaker 1: And I just want to share with our moms out there.
- 25:14Speaker 1: If you have friends or you want to be a
- 25:16Speaker 1: zoomer mom, you just have to get in touch with us,
- 25:18Speaker 1: and you can also be a zoomer mom on the show.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Very rewarding, as you will find out. So let's welcome
- 25:23Speaker 1: our zoomer moms First. Shannon, Welcome to the Mom's Club.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Tell us your name, where you're from, and a little
- 25:29Speaker 1: bit about yourself. Hi.
- 25:32Speaker 7: I'm Shannon Summers.
- 25:33Speaker 5: I'm from Dallas, Texas, and I've got two boys, one
- 25:39Speaker 5: in college and one about to be in college this fall,
- 25:42Speaker 5: so soon to be an empty nester. I'm not quite
- 25:45Speaker 5: sure how i feel about that yet, but day by
- 25:48Speaker 5: day I'll take it. And I'm a fractional CMO right
- 25:54Speaker 5: here in Dallas. And Patty, I love that you've talked
- 25:59Speaker 5: about Good Carmel because I have to say I've been
- 26:02Speaker 5: a customer. I've ordered in bulk for clients before and
- 26:07Speaker 5: know how one delicious they are and to what a
- 26:10Speaker 5: big hit they were with my clients. So it's been
- 26:12Speaker 5: really fun to learn about your business. And I had
- 26:16Speaker 5: a question for you. As I've been building my own
- 26:19Speaker 5: fractional business. One of the things that is challenging is
- 26:23Speaker 5: kind of juggling time and knowing where should you spend
- 26:28Speaker 5: your time to get the biggest output for your business.
- 26:32Speaker 5: So I'd love to know your thoughts on kind of
- 26:36Speaker 5: I guess it's the juggling at all question.
- 26:39Speaker 4: That's a great question. Well, I'm so psyched to hear
- 26:41Speaker 4: you're a customer. That's so cool.
- 26:45Speaker 6: I'm in the same boat, by the way, one in college,
- 26:47Speaker 6: one about to go to college.
- 26:49Speaker 5: Oh, it's terrifying, isn't it awful?
- 26:51Speaker 4: Yes, I just I'm taking a watercolor class. I'm trying
- 26:54Speaker 4: to come how I'm going to fill all of it in.
- 26:57Speaker 6: Yeah, that that to do list is so serious, right,
- 27:02Speaker 6: trying to figure out what to do because there is
- 27:04Speaker 6: an unending of never ending really important things to do. Definitely,
- 27:11Speaker 6: I delegate as much as I can. I work with
- 27:15Speaker 6: my husband, my brother, and a lot of great staff members,
- 27:18Speaker 6: so I do.
- 27:19Speaker 4: I am always looking for something.
- 27:21Speaker 6: That they could grow with, Like if there's a problem
- 27:25Speaker 6: that they could solve and also learn a new skill
- 27:27Speaker 6: so that the next top time that problem came up
- 27:30Speaker 6: they could do it.
- 27:31Speaker 4: I'm always looking for that.
- 27:33Speaker 6: I try to really spend my time on things that
- 27:37Speaker 6: require me. I am the only one who could do this,
- 27:42Speaker 6: and that of course requires some humility, so that I
- 27:46Speaker 6: don't think that all of it requires me that's really hard.
- 27:51Speaker 6: And yeah, anything that is super impactful. I try, even
- 27:56Speaker 6: though those are the hardest things and so I want
- 27:58Speaker 6: to procrastinate them.
- 27:59Speaker 4: I try to tackle them.
- 28:01Speaker 6: Anything with a huge deadline, Am I about to miss
- 28:04Speaker 6: a deal because I've waited too long? So time sensitive
- 28:08Speaker 6: and impactful, where like this is going to move my
- 28:10Speaker 6: business forward if I tackle this. Those are the things
- 28:13Speaker 6: I really try to focus on. But you can't do
- 28:16Speaker 6: all of that every day. So then I also try
- 28:18Speaker 6: to give myself little wins, but just eat. Okay, I
- 28:21Speaker 6: can move this forward and it'll be really easy, and
- 28:22Speaker 6: I feel great about myself.
- 28:25Speaker 1: That's great.
- 28:27Speaker 7: That's really helpful.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Thank you, Yeah, yeah, you bet.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Thanks Brittany, welcome to the Mom's Club. Tell us your name,
- 28:34Speaker 1: where you're from, and a little bit about yourself.
- 28:37Speaker 7: Yes, thank you so much. Thank you.
- 28:40Speaker 8: My name's Brittany Washington, And just like Shannon, I am
- 28:43Speaker 8: here from Dallas, Texas a transplant though all the way
- 28:48Speaker 8: from San Diego, California, so yes, a little bit of.
- 28:52Speaker 7: Cali and me. But yes, nice to meet you, Patty.
- 28:57Speaker 8: I am actually have not tried good caramel, but I'm
- 29:02Speaker 8: going too soon. But yes, I'm actually in marketing, just
- 29:08Speaker 8: like like Shannon. And one thing, I'm actually in a PR,
- 29:13Speaker 8: PR and marketing, and I have clients who are mothers
- 29:18Speaker 8: and I do marketing and a lot of them are mothers,
- 29:21Speaker 8: and they do juggle a lot in between trying to
- 29:24Speaker 8: balance that lifestyle in PR and living that lifestyle.
- 29:29Speaker 7: And I have a question for you when.
- 29:31Speaker 8: It comes to being in the public eye and trying
- 29:36Speaker 8: to be a mother and the things that they are
- 29:38Speaker 8: trying to articulate.
- 29:40Speaker 7: How do you try to balance.
- 29:43Speaker 8: I want to say, being in social media and living
- 29:51Speaker 8: the lifestyle of trying to just be you and using
- 29:59Speaker 8: what's that word we try.
- 30:01Speaker 7: To say in social media? Balancing just living that just
- 30:08Speaker 7: trying to be you?
- 30:10Speaker 8: What's that word we use, Shannon, in social media living.
- 30:15Speaker 5: The authenticity lifestyle?
- 30:19Speaker 8: Thank you, the authenticity lifestyle because a lot of them
- 30:22Speaker 8: try to ask me how to be living that authenticity lifestyle.
- 30:27Speaker 7: But being a mom but trying not.
- 30:30Speaker 8: To use vulgar lifestyle vulgar words, but trying to be
- 30:34Speaker 8: a mom too.
- 30:35Speaker 7: How do you balance that lifestyle?
- 30:40Speaker 1: Well, that's a good question.
- 30:43Speaker 4: I'm pretty vulgar.
- 30:48Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that I think about the people on
- 30:53Speaker 6: social media that I really connect with YEA are so
- 30:59Speaker 6: flawed and raw and vulnerable. And I think trying to
- 31:05Speaker 6: be perfect in any aspect, and I speak from experience,
- 31:10Speaker 6: is painful and doesn't move anything forward. You're stuck. You
- 31:16Speaker 6: can't move if you're going to be perfect. So I
- 31:18Speaker 6: think I would advise clients to really like find your
- 31:25Speaker 6: vulnerability and share it.
- 31:28Speaker 8: I think it's the imposter syndrome too, is also too
- 31:32Speaker 8: where I was trying to get at that imposter syndrome
- 31:35Speaker 8: trying to be someone else, but also to trying to
- 31:39Speaker 8: balance that lifestyle of being a mom.
- 31:42Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, man, my kids are seventeen and nineteen,
- 31:46Speaker 4: so I'm over a lot of hurdles.
- 31:48Speaker 6: And I really thought I was doing all the things
- 31:51Speaker 6: I was supposed to do and I was doing everything right.
- 31:53Speaker 6: And I look back now and I'm like, man, we
- 31:56Speaker 6: should have had a lot more fun and I should
- 31:58Speaker 6: have worried less about the schedule rules and the carpools
- 32:01Speaker 6: and what are they wearing?
- 32:02Speaker 4: What is their hair like?
- 32:03Speaker 6: And if I had had an influencer helping me see
- 32:07Speaker 6: that earlier, I think that would have been amazing. I mean,
- 32:10Speaker 6: that's what I would look for, is like, yes, we're
- 32:12Speaker 6: all impostors.
- 32:13Speaker 7: M h, yeah, no, thank you.
- 32:16Speaker 1: No, that was a great question because yeah, there's also
- 32:20Speaker 1: I guess a challenge of your company is all about
- 32:23Speaker 1: positivity and good karma. And but if everybody saw you
- 32:27Speaker 1: that like, oh, she's really not you know you do
- 32:29Speaker 1: you feel like you when you said you're a little vulgar?
- 32:32Speaker 1: I mean you feel like sometimes you have to project
- 32:34Speaker 1: some kind of image of good karma or good karma.
- 32:39Speaker 4: You know, I don't.
- 32:40Speaker 6: I really let the product lead for itself. I am
- 32:45Speaker 6: not out here unlike today, I am not usually out
- 32:48Speaker 6: here as a spokesperson. It's not my comfort zone. I
- 32:52Speaker 6: am doing this just for a friend. She pushed me
- 32:56Speaker 6: to do it, and I'm thrilled that I'm doing it,
- 32:58Speaker 6: But no, I feel like I am pretty anonymous mostly
- 33:02Speaker 6: in my life.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Well, we're thrilled that you were able to do it too,
- 33:06Speaker 1: and yet I've seen you on the Today Show, so
- 33:08Speaker 1: you've been a good spokesman for you are a good
- 33:10Speaker 1: spokesman for it, And I just also want to comment
- 33:14Speaker 1: just personally. I'm still often that we have a lot
- 33:18Speaker 1: of zoomers from Dallas, and I'm from Dallas, so you know,
- 33:22Speaker 1: good job, ladies, I'm so thrilled that you're here. Yeah,
- 33:25Speaker 1: because I'm actually from well, from Plano, but you know,
- 33:28Speaker 1: when you're from Plano, you say you're from Dallas. That's
- 33:31Speaker 1: kind of how it works there. Kim, welcome to the
- 33:34Speaker 1: Mom's Club. What's tell us your name, where you're from,
- 33:37Speaker 1: and do you have a question.
- 33:39Speaker 7: Yeah, So my name's Kim.
- 33:41Speaker 9: This is Leila. We used to I used to live
- 33:44Speaker 9: in LA and I moved to Trinidad, California. It's like
- 33:48Speaker 9: population three hundred and eleven people in northern California. So yes,
- 33:53Speaker 9: we're kind of in the middle of nowhere. But I'm
- 33:57Speaker 9: very inspired by what you were saying, just as mom
- 34:00Speaker 9: that's also trying to start a business and just so
- 34:03Speaker 9: that I can be with my kids more so. I
- 34:06Speaker 9: guess my question would be what point in your children's
- 34:09Speaker 9: life did you start the business and how have you
- 34:13Speaker 9: created those partnerships with big brands.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Good question.
- 34:18Speaker 6: So I started it before I was married and before
- 34:23Speaker 6: I had kids, so I had all those late night
- 34:28Speaker 6: hours I was free to I mean, I burnt every
- 34:31Speaker 6: midnight oil I could that we it was crazy, And
- 34:35Speaker 6: once the babies came, I slowed down for sure and
- 34:38Speaker 6: got help and so, yeah, I understand that just the
- 34:46Speaker 6: brain drain and the energy drain when you have little ones,
- 34:49Speaker 6: it's really hard to get something off the ground.
- 34:51Speaker 4: You definitely want to go easy on yourself.
- 34:55Speaker 6: And the partnership with the brands came, I would say,
- 34:59Speaker 6: from the great press that we got when we started out,
- 35:02Speaker 6: so they would see us, you know.
- 35:03Speaker 4: In a in style magazine, and then they would reach
- 35:06Speaker 4: out to us.
- 35:07Speaker 6: But we also do a lot of work on LinkedIn,
- 35:09Speaker 6: trying to get out to other people in companies, you know,
- 35:13Speaker 6: just a lot of posting, a lot of sharing of
- 35:15Speaker 6: successes and things like that.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, thank you for that good network. Yeah, sure,
- 35:21Speaker 1: I you know, I just it just dawned on me,
- 35:23Speaker 1: like how you started. So you've got a recipe and
- 35:27Speaker 1: I've asked ask you this question, is I'm the world's
- 35:29Speaker 1: worst cook? I mean, if I'd gotten that recipe and
- 35:33Speaker 1: mixed it, nobody would be buying caramel from me. I'm guarantee.
- 35:37Speaker 1: You like so, but you're you're saying, you're not, like,
- 35:40Speaker 1: how did you do that? You just by luck it
- 35:43Speaker 1: turned out great and you that was how it worked?
- 35:45Speaker 1: Or what did you do?
- 35:47Speaker 4: Kind of I mean, I really I was not a cook.
- 35:50Speaker 6: I was a latchkey kid. I never saw my mom
- 35:52Speaker 6: cooking a meal. She'll kill me for that, but it's true.
- 35:57Speaker 6: But to me, when I read that caramel recipe, it
- 36:00Speaker 6: almost felt more like a chemistry lab versus.
- 36:04Speaker 4: You'll know when the brisket's done. I don't. I can't
- 36:07Speaker 4: tell when meat is done. I don't know.
- 36:10Speaker 6: This was this had a thermometer like, this was math,
- 36:14Speaker 6: and I felt like, okay, I.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Can do that. I can do math and chemistry. So yeah.
- 36:19Speaker 6: So for me, somehow that felt totally doable when you
- 36:24Speaker 6: know cooking.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Doesn't feel doable.
- 36:27Speaker 6: I lucked out that my very first batch was amazing
- 36:30Speaker 6: because if that first batch had been a dud, which
- 36:33Speaker 6: sometimes harmel is, it's a tricky thing to cook. If
- 36:37Speaker 6: that had been a dud, none of this would have happened.
- 36:39Speaker 6: But I thought, well, gosh, I can do this and
- 36:40Speaker 6: this is great. I'm gonna tweak this a little bit,
- 36:42Speaker 6: and I'm gonna use white sugar instead of brown sugar,
- 36:44Speaker 6: and I played around with it like a chemistry lab
- 36:47Speaker 6: and it was really fun.
- 36:48Speaker 1: That is that is very cool. That's why this is
- 36:50Speaker 1: all certaintipity. I mean, look how this all came together.
- 36:54Speaker 1: It's very cool.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it was.
- 36:57Speaker 4: It was meant to be sure. I don't doubt it
- 37:00Speaker 4: at all.
- 37:01Speaker 3: I was going to ask you, I think as like
- 37:04Speaker 3: a young person who may still want to start a
- 37:07Speaker 3: business one day, what advice would you give young women
- 37:10Speaker 3: who want to start a business, like people women that
- 37:13Speaker 3: are the same age as your daughters.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Good question.
- 37:17Speaker 4: I'd be open to the science, right.
- 37:20Speaker 6: Imagine if I had ignored all the things that were
- 37:22Speaker 6: getting put in place for me.
- 37:26Speaker 4: Follow your passions.
- 37:27Speaker 6: Don't try to create something just to create something. Definitely
- 37:31Speaker 6: create something you love that your friends love, that someone
- 37:34Speaker 6: wants to buy like you want to follow your joy,
- 37:39Speaker 6: follow your passion, and keep your eyes and heart open
- 37:43Speaker 6: to what's coming to you.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Do either of your daughters have any interest in continuing
- 37:50Speaker 1: with this or do they have other passions that they're following,
- 37:52Speaker 1: or would you encourage them to be part of your business.
- 37:56Speaker 4: I want them to live their life. This was mine.
- 37:59Speaker 6: You know, it'd be neat if one of them said,
- 38:01Speaker 6: this is the coolest thing ever. I want to do it.
- 38:03Speaker 6: But no one wants to be a doctor. One wants
- 38:05Speaker 6: to be a writer.
- 38:06Speaker 4: And that's amazing.
- 38:07Speaker 6: I'm so excited for them, but this is a fallback.
- 38:11Speaker 6: If they want to take a year off and come
- 38:13Speaker 6: work with me, I'd love it, you know.
- 38:15Speaker 1: That's great. Yeah, that is great.
- 38:19Speaker 2: I feel like you.
- 38:20Speaker 3: So a lot of people try to describe successes like
- 38:23Speaker 3: I've been getting a lot of advice as I'm a
- 38:25Speaker 3: young adult trying to start my career here, and some
- 38:29Speaker 3: people are like, yes, say yes to every opportunity. But
- 38:32Speaker 3: something that you do that I think is even better
- 38:35Speaker 3: advice is to say yes the opportunities that you connect
- 38:38Speaker 3: with and that are meaningful to you. Not just saying
- 38:41Speaker 3: yes to everything because you want to advance because you
- 38:43Speaker 3: want that next job, but saying yes to things that
- 38:46Speaker 3: you actually think you're going to exceed in. And then
- 38:48Speaker 3: it seems like these serendipitous things happen when you're enjoying
- 38:51Speaker 3: what you're doing.
- 38:52Speaker 4: That's amazing, that's really insightful.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, Yeah, Well there's a lot of there's a
- 38:59Speaker 1: lot of good lesson since in today's show, there's that,
- 39:01Speaker 1: and also saying no to the things that you.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Yeah, people like that but don't fit with their.
- 39:09Speaker 1: What they're doing, with what they're doing, well, see, aren't
- 39:11Speaker 1: you glad you? But I'm so glad you're here because
- 39:13Speaker 1: you've you've learned a lot. You know, your mother would
- 39:16Speaker 1: have just sat over there and interrupted me all the
- 39:18Speaker 1: time and asked a bunch of questions. No, she's good too,
- 39:21Speaker 1: She's very good, and I appreciate it. I think this
- 39:23Speaker 1: is good. This has been great. This is a very
- 39:25Speaker 1: inspiring show for a lot of people who because there's
- 39:27Speaker 1: so many moms out there who want to who have
- 39:30Speaker 1: an idea, that want to start a business, sometimes they
- 39:32Speaker 1: get discouraged because it's not I mean, this has worked
- 39:36Speaker 1: out great, but anything can happen along the way. But
- 39:39Speaker 1: you got to keep pushing forward to which I imagine is
- 39:41Speaker 1: what you were what you share and say I could
- 39:44Speaker 1: get a box of caramels that just give me that message,
- 39:47Speaker 1: you know, keep going and keep trying. Yeah, well that
- 39:50Speaker 1: is great. Well, Patty, how do we order good Carmel?
- 39:54Speaker 1: Where do we go to find you?
- 39:55Speaker 6: You go to Goodcarmel dot com, g oo d hey

- 40:29Speaker 1: if you're not interested, if you think you know, I
- 40:31Speaker 1: could never do that, which trust me, you all can.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I mean, if I'm sitting here, you could be you
- 40:35Speaker 1: could be sitting there as a zoomer mom. But if
- 40:37Speaker 1: you think that's not me, but I have a great
- 40:39Speaker 1: I have a friend who would be fabulous on as
- 40:42Speaker 1: a zoomer mom. Then sign your friend up or get
- 40:45Speaker 1: your friend to sign up. Because the more moms across
- 40:48Speaker 1: America that can be part of our show, the happier
- 40:50Speaker 1: that we are. This is a club. This is a
- 40:52Speaker 1: network of women across the country supporting each other and
- 40:56Speaker 1: doing it with a lot of humor. And we just
- 40:59Speaker 1: always want to stay positive, which is really the message
- 41:02Speaker 1: of today's show. So do that. Please do that and
- 41:05Speaker 1: also join our chapters. We are developing chapters all over
- 41:09Speaker 1: the country. We have had two fabulous events in my
- 41:13Speaker 1: hometown of Dallas, Texas, and they were fun. The women
- 41:16Speaker 1: got to come out, meet other moms, the local vendors
- 41:20Speaker 1: in the community. They gave and this is what was
- 41:23Speaker 1: really great. They gave prizes. So we had drawings during
- 41:27Speaker 1: the cocktail party, so you could not only come to
- 41:30Speaker 1: it and meet other moms, which is fabulous, but you
- 41:33Speaker 1: could actually win really cool things. And I got to
- 41:36Speaker 1: draw them out and at one point I have to confess, yes,
- 41:40Speaker 1: I threw my name in there and I wasn't supposed to. Thankfully,
- 41:44Speaker 1: I didn't win any I didn't win anything. See that's
- 41:47Speaker 1: probably yeah, But I was tempted because they're really great
- 41:50Speaker 1: some of the local people. In fact, we have a sponsor,
- 41:53Speaker 1: Beverly Hills Lingerie. They were amazing, as we say here
- 41:57Speaker 1: in the Mom's Club. They made a donation and somebody
- 41:59Speaker 1: got to walk away with a great a great prize
- 42:03Speaker 1: from that. So check out in your local town and
- 42:06Speaker 1: if you're interested in getting part of being part of
- 42:09Speaker 1: a chapter in your community, or you want to start one,
- 42:12Speaker 1: just contact us because we are we really want to
- 42:15Speaker 1: be a network of moms across America. The whole, the
- 42:18Speaker 1: whole idea behind the Mom's Club is we support women,
- 42:21Speaker 1: support each other, women women's friendships, are very precious and
- 42:25Speaker 1: special and different then sat. Frankly, a lot of our
- 42:28Speaker 1: husbands and a lot of men don't have the same kind
- 42:30Speaker 1: of relationships that women do and that moms do. So
- 42:34Speaker 1: that's our goal here on the Mom's Club is to
- 42:37Speaker 1: help you laugh, have fun, but also to connect with
- 42:40Speaker 1: other moms and and that's very rewarding in that that's
- 42:44Speaker 1: what we want to see happen. So please check out
- 42:46Speaker 1: the chapters, and we also want to thank one of
- 42:49Speaker 1: our sponsors that we have for all because this is
- 42:52Speaker 1: the month where we're sharing things with moms everywhere. Farmhouse
- 42:57Speaker 1: Fresh has the most amazing products you've ever put on
- 43:02Speaker 1: your skin. I thought yes, because that's when I first
- 43:06Speaker 1: thought the glow that you had over there, and I thought, oh, Julie,
- 43:09Speaker 1: you've gotten so much younger. Yes, it's because that wouldn't
- 43:12Speaker 1: surprise me because Farmhouse Fresh has these amazing products. One
- 43:15Speaker 1: of my favorites is make It Melt because it helps
