- 0:00Hello everyone. Couple days ago I posted a
- 0:03picture of me taking the motor out of my race car.
- 0:07Just having fun and sharing what I'm up to.
- 0:11A lot of people said tell me all about that motor.
- 0:16All right, come on, let's take a look.
- 0:20OK, A lot of you get really excited about the cubic inch.
- 0:26For me, it's not about the cubic inch as much as it is about take
- 0:32off. I like torque because I run a
- 0:34lot of bull rings, small race tracks, you know, 575 to 648
- 0:41gear. So that means when I get on the
- 0:43gas, I want to go now. Now if I go to Volusia, I want a
- 0:47430. Girty, let yourself go.
- 0:50Coincidental murder, nothing to show.
- 0:54So I make my own words up to my songs.
- 0:56So yeah, if you're a Volusia, you're an Eldora.
- 0:59You want a 430 guardy baby, big cubic inch, all that.
- 1:06I want my motors situational. I want to go around the bull
- 1:10rings. Let's talk about this motor.
- 1:14I have two motors total 2. This is my Daryl Hoffman motor.
- 1:20I'm quite proud of this. This ran 41 straight nights.
- 1:26What cubic inch is it? What cubic inch is it?
- 1:30This is a 415 cubic inch. You know, you go to you go down
- 1:35to Volusia, you might want a 430.
- 1:38Now, remember Gertie used to build a motor years ago.
- 1:41I had a buddy named Robert Owens.
- 1:43Robert's still after we call him Pumpkin.
- 1:46He was funny. He said, man, I had a 430,
- 1:49Gertie. So anyway, this is a 415 cubic
- 1:53inch. Now let's talk about this motor.
- 1:56This is a 23° headed motor. Now what that means, Follow me
- 2:01here. Now 23° heads.
- 2:04Let's look at the let's look at the heads.
- 2:07Now listen, I I want to tell you all something Brother Rusty
- 2:11would say. You're thinking wrong just
- 2:13because my ports look rich. Oh, they're black.
- 2:16They're black. It runs good.
- 2:20It's got torque. So dirt motors tend to look a
- 2:24little richer, but this motor was perfectly chassis Dinos at
- 2:28Willy's six pulls. We tuned the timing.
- 2:32We got the the carburetor just perfect.
- 2:34So no matter what you think of these portholes, let's look at
- 2:37them, Brody. OK, they might look a little
- 2:40dark to you, but Brody, get in there.
- 2:42Look how nice. They're perfectly Gray.
- 2:44That's a shadow you're looking at.
- 2:46That's not black. That's Gray right there.
- 2:51So see, pictures and lighting can fool you.
- 2:54Those are perfectly Gray. It's perfectly tuned at Willy's.
- 2:58You go down there. Saves you a lot of money because
- 3:02if your motor's not tuned, you burn too much gas and you have
- 3:06motors that blow up when they're not supposed to.
- 3:09So this motor is perfectly tuned. 6 pulls.
- 3:14Tune on it. OK, let's go again.
- 3:17Tune on it. OK, let's go again.
- 3:20Willie. Willie Krupp.
- 3:22His son is Will. It's opposite.
- 3:24The old man's name is Willie. Like a boy Willie.
- 3:27Hey, Willie. And Will is the son.
- 3:30It's the opposite of what you think.
- 3:31So Willie and Will and Larry Anderson, everybody down at
- 3:36Willie's, they tuned it perfectly.
- 3:38So don't think that those ports are black.
- 3:41They're not. Brody showed you they're
- 3:43perfectly Gray. OK, so 415 cubic inch 23° head,
- 3:50really affordable motor. I don't have anything close to
- 3:5525,000 in this. This motor is way cheaper.
- 3:58You know why? Because these heads and those
- 4:01intakes, that intake, I sound like Larry Mack.
- 4:06These two heads and that intake they're 23° heads.
- 4:10Nice intake used used from the old NASCAR days.
- 4:15Darrell Hoffman hooked me up so pretty proud of this motor.
- 4:20So yeah, there it is 415 cubic int 23° head.
- 4:24I set the timing at 31°. That's what I do.
- 4:28I I hope you enjoyed this. Now this motors got 41 straight
- 4:32nights on it. It's ready to go back and get
- 4:36freshened up. So he's going to freshen it up.
- 4:40That's going to cost me. It could be 8 to $10,000.
- 4:44Now the Super late model motors, them 4 Durham's or 60 grand.
- 4:48This motor here was way less than 25 grand.
- 4:51But the Super late model motors, they're 60,000 and if you want
- 4:56to get them freshened up, they're around 15,000.
- 4:58Hey psycho telly Cevalla says if you're going to play, you got to
- 5:04pay. Welcome to the big time boys.
- 5:06You won't be a race car driver. I get it.
- 5:08You ain't got that kind of money.
- 5:10Run AB mod. Those motors are around 9:00 to
- 5:1415,000. Some of them boys, they're
- 5:16playing too hard. The B mods are meant to be me B
- 5:20mods. But now them boys spend too much
- 5:21money. So be careful.
- 5:25If you want to play, you got to pay.
- 5:28And competitors always going to spend more.
- 5:30Now this motor's ready to go back.
- 5:31It's clean. You know why it's clean?
- 5:34Because Brody, the man working the camera, he washed it.
- 5:37We like things clean. Hey, Wallace, I've never seen a
- 5:4041 race motor look that clean. Somebody screamed on social
- 5:44media. Hey, that motor's too clean.
- 5:47It's because Brody washed it. Yes, our clean.
- 5:52All right, now let's go over to my Chad Mullins motor.
- 5:57Yes, I run two different motors. This is Darryl Hoffman.
- 6:00Now let's go over to Chad Mullins motor fresh, ready to
- 6:03go. OK, this is a really nice motor.
- 6:10Two different motor builders and it's fresh.
- 6:13It's ready to go. It's been sitting for a while.
- 6:17I'd say it's been sitting about nine months.
- 6:22What? What's that?
- 6:23What's that do? Have I been spinning it over?
- 6:25Are you worried about the Vow springs?
- 6:28Well, me too. So I'll call Chad up.
- 6:30I'll go. Chad Motors been sitting.
- 6:33I did not spin it over. It's been it's been right on
- 6:35them. Same damn battle springs for a
- 6:37long time. Are you worried about it?
- 6:39Are you worried about it? I'll call Chad Molden and see
- 6:43what he says. I know you're thinking you
- 6:45should spin it over every week, ma'am.
- 6:47OK, we'll talk about it later. Respond right here.
- 6:50Because when you respond right here, that's what I like.
- 6:54That's what I need. I need because I know all you
- 6:56are motor man. You know all about motors.
- 7:00Hi. OK, so let's look at it.
- 7:04This is motor 2183. He wants the he wants me to run
- 7:08it at 5000 RPM. He wants 31° timing and he wants
- 7:13me to set the lash at 16 thousands damn 16.
- 7:17I think that's my fingernail ready to go in ready to go in
- 7:22the car. Now this is the motor now.
- 7:23Right now it's 2025. I ran this motor all of 2000 24
- 7:31this motor ran all of 2024 That motor ran all of this year 2025.
- 7:38I hope you enjoyed it. I hope it answered all your
- 7:40questions. I don't know the cubic inch of
- 7:42this motor. I don't care.
- 7:45I mean that respectfully. I don't care.
- 7:47I don't care about any of this Just give me a motor don't blow
- 7:50up my motor building days. I I did it all I ran those nine
- 7:54to ones in asai would replace the valve.
- 7:57Look here. I pulled that plug out, I put
- 7:59air in there, keep the valve up. I did it all, broke the, you
- 8:02know, valve, put the new valve spring and I did all that.
- 8:06I don't do that anymore. I already know I'm a mechanic.
- 8:10Yeah, I don't have to prove that.
- 8:11So they say, Herman, what kind of motor you want?
- 8:15I say one, it's got torque and it's light because I like rear
- 8:19weight. So I don't get into that 11
- 8:22degree, 13° head, big old motor in the front.
- 8:24Y'all do that that you guys do that?
- 8:26I don't do that plus they're like 35 grand.
- 8:29I want a very affordable motor, one that I can run around the
- 8:32Midwest. So for me that's going to be 23°
- 8:35head, very affordable motor. Maintain it.
- 8:39I've already I use zero 50 Mobil one oil.
- 8:43I use zero 50 Mobil one. It's the best oil and I got some
- 8:48great friends around here and they say, Herman, that's some
- 8:51good oil. And I said, I know.
- 8:54All right, hope you enjoyed it. Respond right here with all your
- 8:57bullshit.
