- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome back to Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists.
- 0:07Speaker 1: This week, the future of musical theater is here. This week,
- 0:12Speaker 1: we talked to the prestigious graduating senior class of Evermount University.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Ever Mount University is known for one thing, their BFA
- 0:23Speaker 2: Musical theater program, and these future stars are looking to
- 0:27Speaker 2: dish it out of what their last four years have
- 0:30Speaker 2: been like. In the middle of Vermont lies a little
- 0:33Speaker 2: gem known as Evermount University.
- 0:37Speaker 3: So before summer starts and our careers begin, let's close
- 0:40Speaker 3: the curtain and open up that process. Let's listen in.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Guy. Oh wow, guys, wow, this is so crazy for us.
- 0:54Speaker 5: Crazy.
- 0:54Speaker 6: So it was my first time doing camera work.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Oh oh you don't, I'm totally panicking.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Well, I took a workshop, so I'm happy to hold
- 1:06Speaker 1: your hand through it. It's like it too difficult, is.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Like Shonda land workshop?
- 1:10Speaker 6: You did this?
- 1:12Speaker 7: Whop? Guys? Did you do that too? Did you do
- 1:14Speaker 7: that in July or August?
- 1:15Speaker 3: I never did it. I just applied.
- 1:16Speaker 6: Oh okay, did.
- 1:17Speaker 4: You do it?
- 1:18Speaker 5: The application fee was four hundred dollars, so I.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Couldn't do it.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I ended up paying it just because
- 1:27Speaker 1: I had a few jobs that I'm really grateful for
- 1:30Speaker 1: my last.
- 1:31Speaker 8: What is trying to say, because like, like, is this
- 1:33Speaker 8: a normal whib hi? I I am a musical theater actor.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Okay, So what Shonda would say, what Shonda would say,
- 1:40Speaker 1: and what she really drilled into us.
- 1:43Speaker 5: Was oh my god, so Shonda her son.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:47Speaker 6: So it turned out four deal.
- 1:52Speaker 7: It was actually a really good deal. Deal was actually there.
- 1:58Speaker 3: I heard go for like six hundred dollars a month
- 2:02Speaker 3: and you can't talk. Shanda does the whole.
- 2:04Speaker 7: Summer for four hundred.
- 2:06Speaker 6: Oh my god.
- 2:06Speaker 9: I had no idea.
- 2:07Speaker 1: But she said, comes in through the soul and and
- 2:11Speaker 1: out and you are not. So it wasn't a very
- 2:14Speaker 1: catchy catchphrase. She said, in through the soul, out through
- 2:17Speaker 1: the mouth, and I'm not and you're not and you're
- 2:22Speaker 1: not playing to the back of the room. You're playing
- 2:25Speaker 1: to your friends.
- 2:26Speaker 5: So good.
- 2:26Speaker 8: It sounds like that wasn't that wasn't necessarily advice, but
- 2:29Speaker 8: a specific note for you.
- 2:32Speaker 7: She said it to me, but I think it kind
- 2:34Speaker 7: of applied to everything.
- 2:37Speaker 4: I'm taking it.
- 2:38Speaker 1: And I'm just so grateful to her because Shanda and
- 2:40Speaker 1: I got to have she got she got.
- 2:42Speaker 7: Lunch with me, after well, what do you mean? So
- 2:45Speaker 7: I was eating at Granla.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Bar outside the classroom and she was there, and she
- 2:51Speaker 1: was on her way to her car.
- 2:53Speaker 4: It was FaceTime with Shanda. This is fuck, this is
- 2:56Speaker 4: gonna be so good for you.
- 2:57Speaker 6: Oh my god.
- 2:58Speaker 7: We're not here to talk about me.
- 3:00Speaker 3: About the screen. It's not about.
- 3:01Speaker 8: About can we Okay, you're right, it's about us.
- 3:05Speaker 7: Can we last year?
- 3:07Speaker 4: Yes?
- 3:07Speaker 8: Can we maybe get back in first position and maybe
- 3:10Speaker 8: talk about places?
- 3:12Speaker 3: Places, places, Thank you, places, thank you, thank you from
- 3:16Speaker 3: the top, thank you.
- 3:18Speaker 8: Oh and also my our director, uh, mister mister Mark.
- 3:22Speaker 8: We love him. He told me when we go into
- 3:27Speaker 8: places and we're auditioning or talking to anyone, we have
- 3:30Speaker 8: to look at every single person in the eye before
- 3:32Speaker 8: we start.
- 3:33Speaker 6: So I just want to go to every crew person.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Okay, for the audio listener, we're holding space. I'm holding
- 3:41Speaker 3: space with the boom.
- 3:42Speaker 1: We're holding space for the crew, and we're thanking them
- 3:45Speaker 1: for their generosity and being here today.
- 3:47Speaker 2: For me, I'm just kind of letting this moment breathe
- 3:50Speaker 2: and holding space for everybody that wants to be with me.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I'm actually I'm actually I'm actually I'm actually so happy
- 3:56Speaker 3: you said that because what's happening right now is like
- 3:59Speaker 3: a moment we will forget because because and I want
- 4:03Speaker 3: to hold space before, like like John Mayer said, stop
- 4:06Speaker 3: this train.
- 4:07Speaker 6: Don't even bring him up.
- 4:12Speaker 7: Too much.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Weeks from the beginning of our lives and we're just
- 4:16Speaker 3: together in this space.
- 4:18Speaker 6: You know, he's my automatic Mary and Mary kill every time.
- 4:21Speaker 3: We play it's right, no matter what, he's automatic Mary.
- 4:25Speaker 6: If he comes back, my automatic Mary.
- 4:27Speaker 5: All three sometimes the Big Three for him.
- 4:30Speaker 1: The Big three, and we talk and we all voted
- 4:33Speaker 1: on our senior song, our official senior song, being Father's
- 4:38Speaker 1: Been Good to Your Dog voted.
- 4:42Speaker 4: I was definitely.
- 4:44Speaker 2: I love that song so much. I'm such a big
- 4:46Speaker 2: John May I love doing on my guitar.
- 4:48Speaker 8: One of our classmates is the great granddaughter Bernie Telsey.
- 4:52Speaker 8: So we're hearing a lot of stuff about.
- 4:56Speaker 6: Maybe a musical coming might be and it.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Might be about a coffee shop barista who has dreams of.
- 5:04Speaker 6: More, and it might be in the Cold War. It's
- 5:06Speaker 6: in very early stages, right.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Okay, we cannot start talking about other projects and other
- 5:10Speaker 3: books without saying our inner books. Let's go around and say,
- 5:14Speaker 3: and we have to slay.
- 5:15Speaker 4: You're so right, you go first.
- 5:19Speaker 2: No, you guys, don't put me on the spot like this.
- 5:23Speaker 4: This is crazy. No, okay, you love it? Hey, what's up.
- 5:29Speaker 4: I'm Cashne.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I'm a musical theater major, and I do things a
- 5:34Speaker 2: little bit differently. I'm straight, but I'm definitely not opposed
- 5:39Speaker 2: to experience. So I've had a great four years and
- 5:44Speaker 2: this has been the best four years of my life.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I've played a lot of the leads, uh, and I've
- 5:49Speaker 2: played a lot of the love interests. And I'm really
- 5:52Speaker 2: excited for what happens in the future for me. I'm
- 5:55Speaker 2: going to New York to pursue my dreams forever. Now stop,
- 6:01Speaker 2: come on, please Cash.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Name like you guys are are crazy like that and like.
- 6:09Speaker 1: There's no one around here like you, And it's almost
- 6:12Speaker 1: like by default. I don't want to say by default
- 6:15Speaker 1: you get these roles because like you, you do so
- 6:17Speaker 1: much work, but it's like.
- 6:19Speaker 7: Who else would play this? But Cash can play these And.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Honestly, I want to just say, like, you haven't lived
- 6:26Speaker 3: till you've seen Cash do king Lear?
- 6:28Speaker 4: Come on?
- 6:30Speaker 6: Come on?
- 6:31Speaker 2: Well, So mister Mark wrote a musical version of king
- 6:34Speaker 2: Lear and kind of brought the house down it was
- 6:36Speaker 2: a new version set in the eighties, kind of a
- 6:39Speaker 2: goth punk king Lear and I.
- 6:41Speaker 7: Was shocked personally that king Lear was a tenor.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Yeah, so it turns out a straight tenor.
- 6:47Speaker 8: Yesographical from mister Mark's experience going to Beche Mode concerts.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yes, the king Lear part was not out of biographical
- 6:55Speaker 2: for no, but the Depeche Mode was.
- 6:59Speaker 4: So yes.
- 7:00Speaker 2: So thanks guys, thanks for the love. Much love that.
- 7:07Speaker 2: It's kind of my catchphrase. Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 7: Well, I'm Emma McDonald you are Yeah, Yeah, I.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Am so excited to be here. I am a senior
- 7:20Speaker 1: at Evermount University. I am an Alto one and I
- 7:26Speaker 1: I've played some of the some of the leads in
- 7:30Speaker 1: in previous years, not so much the last two years
- 7:34Speaker 1: because I've been focusing on myself. But four year I
- 7:37Speaker 1: was the lead in Well, I guess there are lots
- 7:41Speaker 1: of leads and lame is, but I say there are
- 7:43Speaker 1: Castle on a cloud, right, Yes, I was.
- 7:49Speaker 3: In some fashion. It's a lead.
- 7:52Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:52Speaker 5: Well, and even though you're in Alto, good job, you did.
- 7:56Speaker 7: A really good job, though.
- 7:58Speaker 9: You remember was doing that.
- 8:00Speaker 6: We're a little bittimes, but yeah, I worked really.
- 8:07Speaker 7: Yeah, you guys are being really little bitches about the.
- 8:09Speaker 9: Way I sang.
- 8:12Speaker 5: It was so good.
- 8:12Speaker 7: They lowered it like three keys.
- 8:14Speaker 9: It was insane.
- 8:15Speaker 7: I've never heard it so much.
- 8:17Speaker 8: What's so interesting is that song used to be hopeful,
- 8:19Speaker 8: and when you're thinking it sounds.
- 8:23Speaker 9: It was so good.
- 8:25Speaker 7: It was so good.
- 8:27Speaker 1: So sorry, we just have limited opportunities in front of
- 8:29Speaker 1: a camera, and so could I play the clip really quickly?
- 8:32Speaker 4: Because let's play a clip.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Like mister Mark told us, I said.
- 8:44Speaker 6: Said, you never get as much for the cameras you
- 8:46Speaker 6: wish you had.
- 8:47Speaker 2: You have, you have to do it clip.
- 8:53Speaker 4: I know what. Please wear your one lost Please wear
- 9:00Speaker 4: no one class.
- 9:03Speaker 7: Traw at all, not in my castle, clod.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Unbelievable. And listen back on my base.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Define definitely into your base.
- 9:26Speaker 7: It's so goodn't wait to see what I'm castings.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Come on, let's keep moving.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Sorry cash, Hey, what's up?
- 9:37Speaker 4: Guys.
- 9:37Speaker 3: My name is Channing. I'm so I'm so blessed to
- 9:41Speaker 3: be here. I'm blessed and grateful. I am a distant,
- 9:47Speaker 3: distant I'll just be honest like my uncle by marriage
- 9:52Speaker 3: by law two times over is Jason Robert Brown, and
- 9:56Speaker 3: I'm just so thankful to be here.
- 10:00Speaker 6: You don't know that I actually did.
- 10:01Speaker 5: I don't know how I went like so long without
- 10:04Speaker 5: knowing that. Yeah, Oh my god, it's like that's amazing.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:07Speaker 3: No, I it's just like one of those things where
- 10:10Speaker 3: everyone in my family, because of this distant uncle by law,
- 10:13Speaker 3: everyone in my family does musical theater.
- 10:15Speaker 8: And are you freaking you talked a lot about her.
- 10:18Speaker 5: I didn't say. I've never said anything.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Oh, you know, you guys talk mess You guys are
- 10:26Speaker 1: so messy.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Sometimes you have your own.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Language, even though even though they're talking in full volume,
- 10:32Speaker 3: sometimes they talk so fast that I just can't understand it.
- 10:35Speaker 3: So that's why I think they get away with talking
- 10:37Speaker 3: shit literally in front of us.
- 10:38Speaker 5: But I love you.
- 10:40Speaker 6: We should delete some Facebook comments we made.
- 10:42Speaker 7: Maybe with you.
- 10:45Speaker 4: It's so quick I came here.
- 10:46Speaker 2: It feels like it's on times too.
- 10:50Speaker 7: I feel like they have their own language.
- 10:51Speaker 3: That's I mean, listen, We've been in school together for
- 10:53Speaker 3: four years, but I've learned to tune them out. They
- 10:56Speaker 3: can they can call me whatever they want in front
- 10:58Speaker 3: of my face, and I won't hear it.
- 11:00Speaker 6: The people.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Anyway. So I so what I am doing for my
- 11:07Speaker 3: college audition song, I'll just say it. I am doing
- 11:09Speaker 3: both parts of the next ten minutes.
- 11:12Speaker 7: Oh my god, can we hear it?
- 11:14Speaker 6: Oh?
- 11:15Speaker 5: No, that I'm so sorry, Sorry sorry.
- 11:19Speaker 4: I think that's so brave and so wonderful.
- 11:21Speaker 2: And I love people that follow their gutsh Yeah, my gosh.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I don't know if it's since we ran that, we
- 11:29Speaker 3: ran those Moliere scenes and scenes.
- 11:31Speaker 8: I remember those WHOA when you together, I was so good.
- 11:43Speaker 7: I think we tackled more really well.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I think that nineteen year olds can tackle better than anyone.
- 11:50Speaker 3: And we added the music of Nicki Mina and that.
- 11:53Speaker 4: Was so.
- 11:56Speaker 6: Experience in West Hollywood.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Channing, I gotta say I've loved your wisdom over
- 12:02Speaker 2: the last couple of years. Like I feel like because
- 12:04Speaker 2: of your uncle's connection, you've just been this like you've
- 12:07Speaker 2: always felt like a senior to me, Like the way
- 12:10Speaker 2: that you give notes to your scene partners and you
- 12:13Speaker 2: really help them a lot with their scenes and kind
- 12:15Speaker 2: of the whole program like mad respect and you know, like.
- 12:19Speaker 1: When you're a scene with Channing, you don't have to
- 12:21Speaker 1: ask for notes, you know, Like.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Like immediately coming today, I was like, I know, my
- 12:29Speaker 3: girly over here is going to overplay because the camera's
- 12:32Speaker 3: closed and you're going to be playing for the back
- 12:34Speaker 3: of the room, right, And I just knew immediately just
- 12:37Speaker 3: because of my family, like my uncle from my law
- 12:40Speaker 3: down three lines is it's just theater and it's just
- 12:44Speaker 3: in my blood and I.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Often do you see him? Do you seem one a lot?
- 12:49Speaker 3: We did a family zoom during the pandemic.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Yeah, like four years ago.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Yeah, we did a family zoom and that's when I
- 12:57Speaker 3: met him.
- 12:58Speaker 6: I bet he's so interesting on zoom.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Yeah, like really probably, like really takes up a lot
- 13:03Speaker 2: of space, even when it's a gallery mode.
- 13:05Speaker 3: It's really awesome. Yeah, we're playing heads up that old
- 13:08Speaker 3: game anyway, such a vintage game. Anyway, enough about me,
- 13:13Speaker 3: I'm taking up too much space and I want to
- 13:15Speaker 3: hold space for the others in the room.
- 13:17Speaker 7: Thanks Channing, Thank you, my guys.
- 13:20Speaker 6: You guys know me. I'm contra Broackway Hillhurst and contuor.
- 13:26Speaker 7: Counter serving conter serving concert.
- 13:29Speaker 8: Serving you guys, say that, you guys make me a
- 13:32Speaker 8: thing that I don't always want to be.
- 13:37Speaker 7: Girlfriend, you are always serving hunter.
- 13:41Speaker 5: If you're serving your slaying, You're so thank.
- 13:43Speaker 8: You guys, so much, Thank you guys so much. Yeah,
- 13:46Speaker 8: totally so I am a senior. I'm graduating, I am
- 13:51Speaker 8: moving to Hell's Kitchen in the Bar.
- 13:56Speaker 6: I'm so excited. I'm so excited. Not the music, call
- 14:00Speaker 6: the area obviously, of.
- 14:02Speaker 7: Course I know New York.
- 14:03Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, yeah, So it's gonna be really fun. I
- 14:07Speaker 8: have had so many fun roles here. I played uh
- 14:12Speaker 8: Will in Oklahoma and then ensemble all the way through
- 14:18Speaker 8: and it's been so fun.
- 14:20Speaker 6: But that was so fun. And I got to.
- 14:21Speaker 8: Play you were my a I know, and I'm like
- 14:24Speaker 8: so like truthfully, like I feel like we became like
- 14:26Speaker 8: the best friends of the world, and like we're inseverable because.
- 14:29Speaker 6: I don't even want to I don't even want to
- 14:31Speaker 6: think about it.
- 14:32Speaker 3: We can't talk about it.
- 14:34Speaker 2: And it's crazy that you guys kind of just became
- 14:36Speaker 2: friends in the last show, right, that's crazy to me.
- 14:39Speaker 6: Well yeah, well.
- 14:40Speaker 5: Yeah, but we kind of always knew.
- 14:41Speaker 4: There was like that thing.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Let me say, Cunter when we did counter, when Conter Cunter,
- 14:47Speaker 3: when we did.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Cunter.
- 14:51Speaker 3: When we did I think we were doing like ensemble
- 14:53Speaker 3: numbers in class. Like I don't think we did a
- 14:55Speaker 3: full hair spray, but we did Welcome to the Sixties,
- 14:58Speaker 3: and you were in the back, and I remember mister
- 15:01Speaker 3: Marks went everyone, hold, hold, look at Hunter, look at
- 15:06Speaker 3: Hunter in the back, and you were doing full space
- 15:10Speaker 3: work and you were at and like there are no
- 15:12Speaker 3: small parts, only small actors. And you have completely displayed that.
- 15:16Speaker 3: You displayed that there are no small parts, because every
- 15:18Speaker 3: small part you get, you treat it like it's the lead.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:21Speaker 8: Well, like my whole thing is, like we need good mailmen,
- 15:25Speaker 8: we need good construction workers, need good people who know
- 15:29Speaker 8: how to unclog a toilet, because those are like important things.
- 15:32Speaker 8: And the difference between somebody who can, like, you know,
- 15:35Speaker 8: like send your letter at four fifty five PM versus
- 15:38Speaker 8: somebody who's zoned out and wants to just go home,
- 15:40Speaker 8: and so your letter gets sent the next day, so
- 15:42Speaker 8: your rent is late. Like the butterfly effect of someone
- 15:44Speaker 8: being better at their job is unparalleled. And so like
- 15:47Speaker 8: my whole thing is, you have to be the best
- 15:50Speaker 8: at what you are. And for me, the ensemble is
- 15:52Speaker 8: the Greek chorus. We did that whole Greek chorus that section. Yeah,
- 15:57Speaker 8: we did a lot of Greek. Remember when we got
- 15:59Speaker 8: to do edifice together, hilarious, it was like hilarious.
- 16:03Speaker 5: We like brought so much comedy.
- 16:05Speaker 6: Yes, like no one was really We set it in
- 16:07Speaker 6: like a funky small town.
- 16:08Speaker 9: Oh my god, it's like people's minds.
- 16:10Speaker 6: It was like hilarious.
- 16:11Speaker 7: You guys had so many funny ad libs in Oedipus.
- 16:17Speaker 7: Yeah we could hear.
- 16:18Speaker 1: I mean, you guys are saying them a little quietly,
- 16:19Speaker 1: but they were kind of in my ears.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Oh yeah, oh yeah, sixteen minutes. Let's do it.
- 16:26Speaker 7: Lit many time in front of a camera.
- 16:29Speaker 6: I'm ripping out mine eyes. I'm ripping out mine eyes
- 16:32Speaker 6: because I kissed my mama.
- 16:33Speaker 9: Oh my god, not my eyes.
- 16:35Speaker 6: I'm ripping out my eyes. Mama. We can't be kissing
- 16:38Speaker 6: no more, mama, Oh.
- 16:40Speaker 5: My god, but I want to kiss my son.
- 16:42Speaker 7: And what's wrong with that?
- 16:43Speaker 5: And what this town needs to get like a little
- 16:45Speaker 5: more funky than it already is. So let's funk this town.
- 16:48Speaker 6: That's right.
- 16:48Speaker 8: And I was born this way, born from my mama
- 16:51Speaker 8: to love my mama.
- 16:52Speaker 7: That's right, baby, you were serving serving.
- 16:56Speaker 1: The funniest thing about your ad libs is the rest
- 16:58Speaker 1: of the play was not setting this up health.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Right, right, right, But I kind of felt like the
- 17:03Speaker 5: southern stuff that we have lived was kind of almost
- 17:05Speaker 5: like our inner monologue like kind of coming out. So
- 17:08Speaker 5: it's like maybe that's who my character was inside. Yes,
- 17:11Speaker 5: so like I couldn't help. It's just like it's.
- 17:14Speaker 6: Amazing and you're like incredible, truly like yourself.
- 17:19Speaker 5: Okay, this is your moment to stop.
- 17:23Speaker 6: Okay, I'm gonna stand like an ensemble member.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Thank you, thank you. You're so he's always so dialed in.
- 17:30Speaker 5: It's like number one, I'm Christine turt I. I gosh,
- 17:40Speaker 5: I mean, what do I say? You know, in a
- 17:42Speaker 5: world full of people, who's like second cousin, father's husband
- 17:48Speaker 5: is by law, Jason Robert Brown, I actually have no
- 17:51Speaker 5: family ties to the business. I am completely self made.
- 17:54Speaker 6: Yeah, christ came from nothing, y'all.
- 17:57Speaker 5: The family, the turt family has no artists in it
- 18:03Speaker 5: at all.
- 18:03Speaker 6: I went home with spring break to her house.
- 18:06Speaker 7: It's wild. No, this is what's good.
- 18:13Speaker 5: He brings his own he brings his own thing. I
- 18:15Speaker 5: always have a c I like so appreciate that they
- 18:17Speaker 5: need to know the backstory the Turret household. There's no art,
- 18:21Speaker 5: Like I never even saw a painting growing up, so
- 18:23Speaker 5: like I didn't even know what art was. I just
- 18:25Speaker 5: knew I like had to sing and I it's like,
- 18:29Speaker 5: it's so funny because it's like, how did I even
- 18:30Speaker 5: conceptualize singing? Like there was no music, like made it up.
- 18:34Speaker 5: It's like exactly. And so that's why it's like, you know,
- 18:38Speaker 5: no offense to anyone who has connections or anything. No,
- 18:41Speaker 5: I am completely self made. And yeah, I couldn't spend
- 18:44Speaker 5: four hundred dollars for the application fee to see Shanda,
- 18:47Speaker 5: you know, so I missed out on that truly.
- 18:49Speaker 8: Like and I and I don't want to like steal
- 18:51Speaker 8: your spotlight, but like the place she came from, I'm
- 18:54Speaker 8: telling you slacked so much art. Instead of family photos,
- 18:57Speaker 8: they literally just hung like tax forms on the wall.
- 18:59Speaker 6: It was pretty w two my parents, your parents sad,
- 19:05Speaker 6: Yeah it was.
- 19:06Speaker 5: It was so said we were so poor, we're so poor.
- 19:08Speaker 5: And so I just, yeah, I think I'm here to
- 19:12Speaker 5: like really celebrate the working man. And yeah, I just
- 19:16Speaker 5: kind of like I'm here because I have something. I'm sorry.
- 19:20Speaker 5: I thank you. I feel really good. I feel like
- 19:25Speaker 5: I've never really said that out loud, So I really
- 19:28Speaker 5: thank you guys for like holding space for me. And yeah,
- 19:32Speaker 5: if anyone you know wants to help me on my journey,
- 19:35Speaker 5: my venmo, Christine Turt.
- 19:37Speaker 3: So it's rt, but also like that's a huge mistiness.
- 19:42Speaker 3: You are being so humble, christ because like we're not
- 19:46Speaker 3: even talking about like, well, I'm sure we're going to
- 19:48Speaker 3: get into all of our milestones like these wasn't working.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I think I think I had a glance at you
- 19:57Speaker 3: and you thought I said something, yeah, Christine, yeah, so yeah.
- 20:01Speaker 3: So I was like, I'm sure we're gonna get into
- 20:04Speaker 3: each of our milestones throughout our career and our blossoming artists.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I will never forget the moment we like to call
- 20:09Speaker 3: the Turt triple when you landed that fucking triple pure.
- 20:14Speaker 10: Yeah, that was I think we all remember when that happened.
- 20:19Speaker 10: It was in the audience, yes, and mister Marx actually
- 20:22Speaker 10: led the standing ovation for that one, and it was
- 20:25Speaker 10: like that meant, that meant so much.
- 20:27Speaker 7: Like you are a triple threat.
- 20:28Speaker 3: You are all three.
- 20:29Speaker 7: Thank you, you are all three.
- 20:31Speaker 1: And I think, like I remember, at the end of
- 20:34Speaker 1: our junior year final project, you devised a ten minute
- 20:39Speaker 1: one act starring yourself and it was all about how
- 20:42Speaker 1: your struggles of having to get a summer.
- 20:44Speaker 7: Job, and that really, like so much broke my heart.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Hearing you talk about working at Jersey Mike's like yeah,
- 20:52Speaker 1: to see to think about you there, like and and
- 20:55Speaker 1: just working through it.
- 20:56Speaker 7: I'm sorry it like at the end minute made me cry.
- 21:00Speaker 8: Wait and remember the moment where you rework the lyrics
- 21:02Speaker 8: to Regina Spectors Samson to be about sandwiches.
- 21:06Speaker 6: Yes, Oh my gosh.
- 21:07Speaker 4: We clip three.
- 21:14Speaker 3: The clip of respectively.
- 21:17Speaker 4: I don't know what I'm doing.
- 21:18Speaker 6: You had a chance to play a clip and you
- 21:20Speaker 6: didn't play.
- 21:21Speaker 4: I just like if my father was an opportunity to
- 21:23Speaker 4: play a clip, I would have played.
- 21:25Speaker 3: This is the only interview really we're gonna have. Okay,
- 21:28Speaker 3: we need to use this to play as many clips
- 21:30Speaker 3: as we can.
- 21:31Speaker 4: All right, we're playing what are we play clips? Oh?
- 21:34Speaker 4: This is you reworking.
- 21:41Speaker 5: And like, okay, wait, can I just give a little Okay, guys,
- 21:45Speaker 5: I like literally should have been on vocal rest through
- 21:47Speaker 5: this whole show.
- 21:49Speaker 7: Okay, I need you to know you.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Were pushing through crazy.
- 21:53Speaker 5: For saying that and for noticing I need you to
- 21:54Speaker 5: know before we play the clip, I literally sound this
- 21:57Speaker 5: is not how it usually sound. Okay, because everyone knows
- 22:00Speaker 5: I'm a fucking powerhouse metal everyone knows.
- 22:03Speaker 6: Everyone knows like she's.
- 22:07Speaker 7: That's so good, my uncle. Okay, we have to play
- 22:13Speaker 7: the clip.
- 22:13Speaker 5: I play the clip. It's so it's literally so short
- 22:15Speaker 5: and so okay, just play.
- 22:17Speaker 4: It and play.
- 22:19Speaker 11: Sandwiches come on bread, not too much to put some
- 22:24Speaker 11: bood onions, onions onion, spesses oven.
- 22:34Speaker 9: Everyone just tap read.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Oh my literally like.
- 22:42Speaker 7: I'm gonna cry you guys, okay, but it sounds so bad.
- 22:49Speaker 7: I'm like so embarrassed, so poor. It's thanks like so,
- 22:55Speaker 7: oh my god.
- 22:56Speaker 1: I mean, we should do a bake sale at showcase
- 22:58Speaker 1: for your family.
- 23:00Speaker 4: For you. We should do a base to raise money.
- 23:03Speaker 8: I don't want to blow up her spot, but she
- 23:07Speaker 8: wrote those lyrics. Nod yeah, because your face should be
- 23:15Speaker 8: on your okakes.
- 23:16Speaker 6: Honestly, thank you everywhere. I'm just saying everywhere everyone.
- 23:22Speaker 4: I think said people should be peeing on your face.
- 23:30Speaker 6: I didn't say that. I'm trying to.
- 23:32Speaker 7: I know, contents not what you said. It's what you meant, Sam.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Clean, You're bad, queen.
- 23:39Speaker 6: It's not what you said, it's what you meant.
- 23:41Speaker 8: Serving once again now and you can do that the least. Well,
- 23:51Speaker 8: we should probably discuss uh our showcase.
- 23:55Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Well this is actually a really interesting showcase because we
- 23:59Speaker 2: get a song, we get a monologue. And actually this
- 24:01Speaker 2: year they're doing something really interesting. They've paired us up
- 24:03Speaker 2: for scenes, so we're gonna do scenes with each other.
- 24:06Speaker 6: The first time they're writing scenes in the show.
- 24:08Speaker 3: We use something Me and my girl Emma. We are
- 24:10Speaker 3: slaying our scene from broad City.
- 24:12Speaker 1: We are saying we wanted to do some comedy and
- 24:14Speaker 1: we we really fought to do like a contemporary, like
- 24:18Speaker 1: really contemporary thing.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Yeah, because my monologue from Glassmen Asharie and yours.
- 24:22Speaker 7: Is like I am I ate the divorce papers, Charles.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Like we had.
- 24:28Speaker 3: To like show that, like we can also play like
- 24:31Speaker 3: like HBO girlies.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah, we have to show that, like because as we
- 24:36Speaker 1: pivot to screen, as we pivot to screen, like we
- 24:38Speaker 1: need to be you know, showcasing that we can do that.
- 24:41Speaker 1: And so I'm glad that they were allowing.
- 24:44Speaker 7: Us to do that.
- 24:45Speaker 5: That'll be and that'll be so good for you, like
- 24:47Speaker 5: to have the TV to kind of fall back on
- 24:49Speaker 5: when like there's not a lot of like bass parts
- 24:51Speaker 5: available for women, like because there's lulls, you know what
- 24:54Speaker 5: I mean, There's lots and.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Like we're we're at the forefront of maybe composers and
- 24:59Speaker 3: writers making those parts for women.
- 25:02Speaker 8: And that's what mister Rock said to like go for
- 25:03Speaker 8: a musical theater, but plan for a career in TV
- 25:06Speaker 8: as a backup.
- 25:07Speaker 7: Yes, exactly.
- 25:08Speaker 1: He's so good and so I'm hoping to like take
- 25:10Speaker 1: it sort of as a summer almost like the way
- 25:12Speaker 1: that you worked at Jersey Mics.
- 25:13Speaker 7: Like to take TV work sort of as like to
- 25:15Speaker 7: support myself.
- 25:16Speaker 4: That's so yeah, right, so grave like that.
- 25:19Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 25:19Speaker 6: Yeah, and Christina ask you guys are doing a scene together. Yeah,
- 25:24Speaker 6: come on, that's right.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Stop, Yeah, we're doing a scene together.
- 25:28Speaker 7: It's really compliment.
- 25:29Speaker 4: It's more of a fact crazy, thank you so much.
- 25:32Speaker 3: What's your scene?
- 25:35Speaker 4: Yeah? What what is the scene? Oh it's we're doing
- 25:40Speaker 4: a red Light winter. Yeah, thank you?
- 25:42Speaker 5: Like Winter, Yes, red Winter, sex worker, Yes, really edgy.
- 25:46Speaker 3: To show that you can play sexy and poor and
- 25:50Speaker 3: yes and rich, which show what's hard without your show cases.
- 25:54Speaker 3: People need to know we're trying to show you every
- 25:57Speaker 3: part we can play within these like twenty minutes, and
- 26:00Speaker 3: you got.
- 26:00Speaker 7: To get it in instantly.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Especially Shonda was saying, like Hollywood will make a snap
- 26:06Speaker 1: judgment about you, and that judgment will be negative. And
- 26:09Speaker 1: this is something she said to me, but it sort
- 26:11Speaker 1: of applies to everyone.
- 26:12Speaker 4: I think it's crazy that she said just to you.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Well, she was making eye contact with me, but it
- 26:18Speaker 1: was like a note for the class.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Red Light Winter. It's pretty crazy working on with you.
- 26:24Speaker 5: It's like so int just getting.
- 26:25Speaker 4: To know you a little bit better.
- 26:26Speaker 8: It's just superesay, Okay, I'm good.
- 26:32Speaker 6: I'm good at just getting so hot in here.
- 26:36Speaker 2: This is all well, it's because like we're kind of
- 26:39Speaker 2: playing this like I'm kind of cast against I'm playing
- 26:41Speaker 2: the guy who's kind of obsessed with you, which is
- 26:43Speaker 2: usually like something I'm not used to, and it's been
- 26:45Speaker 2: such a struggling being women.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Is that a gay joke?
- 26:50Speaker 6: No, I'm just literally asking, okay, okay, you've never said
- 26:55Speaker 6: my name.
- 26:55Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 26:56Speaker 9: He's my scene partner.
- 26:57Speaker 6: It's like, yeah, but he's your scene What is that
- 26:59Speaker 6: like best friends getting We can hear dcause it is.
- 27:05Speaker 5: Okay yeah, but but like for the moment I need
- 27:07Speaker 5: to be in this, I.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Have to be fast forwarding podcast on three times three.
- 27:15Speaker 3: It's like suddenly the video went fast.
- 27:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:19Speaker 2: So we're doing Red Light Winter and it's just been
- 27:22Speaker 2: like great like, our private rehearsals has been crazy. You're
- 27:25Speaker 2: just so good at playing poor, like a poor prostitute.
- 27:28Speaker 2: It has been wild for me to like be in
- 27:31Speaker 2: a room with somebody so talented, you know, and thank
- 27:33Speaker 2: you for listening to my guitar songs, my solo songs.
- 27:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:36Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 27:37Speaker 2: We spend half the time rehearsing and then half the
- 27:39Speaker 2: time I show her my.
- 27:40Speaker 5: Music, yeah, which I love and I love whenever like
- 27:43Speaker 5: a streak, I whips out a guitar, you know, not
- 27:46Speaker 5: in the context of like a concert, but just like
- 27:48Speaker 5: kind of in everyday life. Yeah, I get really excited
- 27:50Speaker 5: about what's to come.
- 27:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I also feel it's also feel excited about what's
- 27:55Speaker 1: to come.
- 27:56Speaker 7: It's like, oh my god, what's to come is going.
- 27:58Speaker 4: To be.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Very like sophomore year. You and I did that scene
- 28:01Speaker 3: from Caucasian Chok Circle.
- 28:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Yeah, you brought out your guitar and you did love
- 28:05Speaker 3: Bug by the Jonas Brothers.
- 28:07Speaker 2: I just love that song. I think they're so talented,
- 28:09Speaker 2: those boys are.
- 28:10Speaker 5: They're really good.
- 28:11Speaker 4: They're like kind of my idols. Yeah.
- 28:13Speaker 3: So, Cuzer, why don't you explain what you're doing for
- 28:15Speaker 3: the showcase.
- 28:16Speaker 8: I'm singing the song play with Your Food by the
- 28:19Speaker 8: Cat from the musical Honk.
- 28:21Speaker 5: Oh my god, this is like so brave.
- 28:26Speaker 9: It's literally like.
- 28:28Speaker 3: There's one every year. There's one every year who does.
- 28:32Speaker 7: And some people say it's overused, but like that's and
- 28:35Speaker 7: I would say it's underutil and I.
- 28:36Speaker 6: Said that, and I said, I don't want to do
- 28:38Speaker 6: the sassy Cat from Honk. I don't even want to.
- 28:41Speaker 6: I'm not interested. And I would I would like to
- 28:49Speaker 6: not do that.
- 28:50Speaker 8: I would like to use something that maybe shows something
- 28:52Speaker 8: a little more different.
- 28:54Speaker 6: I said, maybe I could do something terally project that
- 28:56Speaker 6: would be interesting.
- 28:56Speaker 8: Yeah, I could do the monologue that the father says
- 28:59Speaker 8: to the to the uh, to the to the guy
- 29:02Speaker 8: from from the from the court, where he said like
- 29:04Speaker 8: I wish you a life not of death but of pain,
- 29:08Speaker 8: you know. And then now I'm we get food before
- 29:10Speaker 8: you eat it and he's making me wear this mustache.
- 29:14Speaker 4: It's so funny.
- 29:17Speaker 7: It's so funny.
- 29:18Speaker 8: And yeah, like from my scenes, so I guess everyone
- 29:20Speaker 8: got paired up when I went to the bathroom and
- 29:23Speaker 8: I came back and nobody nobody was paired with me. So, uh,
- 29:28Speaker 8: mister Mark found this really really cool monologue from fifty
- 29:34Speaker 8: Monologues for Young Adults.
- 29:36Speaker 4: I Love.
- 29:38Speaker 8: Everywhere, and it's about somebody who loves chocolate chips so
- 29:43Speaker 8: much he's asking me a witch to turn into one.
- 29:45Speaker 3: From the comic side, the comedy side, comic side.
- 29:49Speaker 7: The comic side.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I love the comic section of that book because it's
- 29:52Speaker 1: sort of like they arrange like a mad lib of
- 29:55Speaker 1: comedic premises.
- 29:56Speaker 7: Usually revolves around like food or.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Like being random songs, and I think that's really good
- 30:04Speaker 1: to showcase, especially for the screen crushing it.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Queen, You're absolutely much monologue.
- 30:11Speaker 5: Please we have to roll the Queen.
- 30:12Speaker 6: You don't have to. That was a private video I
- 30:16Speaker 6: sent notes.
- 30:22Speaker 4: It was so good.
- 30:23Speaker 5: I'm sorry. We like everybody has to see a bit
- 30:26Speaker 5: a gift to the world.
- 30:29Speaker 4: So this is your monologue about.
- 30:32Speaker 8: About asking which to turn me into a chocolate Yeah, yeah, listen,
- 30:38Speaker 8: I love chocol chips so much. I would love to
- 30:40Speaker 8: be on right away. I am so into chocolate chips.
- 30:42Speaker 8: Oh my gosh. I could eat a chocolate chip every
- 30:45Speaker 8: single day all year. I cannot wait to be a
- 30:47Speaker 8: chocolate chip. Which which which? Please grant me this wish.
- 30:51Speaker 8: Come on, I know you have a lot to do.
- 30:53Speaker 8: I know that you're looking for more eye of newt.
- 30:55Speaker 8: I know that your salamander is salivating to become a
- 30:58Speaker 8: cauldron student. But I am interested and becoming a chocolate chip.
- 31:03Speaker 8: Please please today, Let it today be the day that
- 31:07Speaker 8: I have a chocolate chip and I can go into
- 31:09Speaker 8: the mouth of my favorite beloved, my darling wife, Josephine.
- 31:13Speaker 7: Oh my gosh.
- 31:15Speaker 4: So good. I love how we can tell how disgusting
- 31:18Speaker 4: you are.
- 31:18Speaker 8: Yes, yeah, I started to play in the gross.
- 31:23Speaker 1: If I could offer like, not a note, but maybe
- 31:26Speaker 1: maybe like a pitch, she should, she should, and I
- 31:28Speaker 1: thank you.
- 31:29Speaker 6: You know what, can you give it to Christine and
- 31:31Speaker 6: then she'll give it to me?
- 31:31Speaker 4: Yes?
- 31:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, Christine, I don't know if you feel this way,
- 31:34Speaker 1: but I just feel like he should be putting Since
- 31:36Speaker 1: it's a comedy scene, I feel like he should be
- 31:38Speaker 1: putting his hands on his hips more.
- 31:40Speaker 5: Okay, Okay, that is a fucking good point.
- 31:43Speaker 7: Goddamn, Okay, it might be better coming from you.
- 31:46Speaker 5: Okay, Conter, she has she has a point. You know,
- 31:51Speaker 5: it's a comedy. We have to remember comedy, right, So
- 31:55Speaker 5: I let's do hands on hips the whole way through.
- 31:57Speaker 5: Just don't don't move them.
- 31:59Speaker 6: Just can you tell I'll take that and thank you
- 32:02Speaker 6: for me.
- 32:03Speaker 5: Thank you so much, He'll take it.
- 32:05Speaker 4: Amazing, it's so good.
- 32:07Speaker 5: You guys work that out, slay queen and.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Come from Oh my god, that guys just working on
- 32:21Speaker 4: a song.
- 32:21Speaker 5: Okay, Cash, Can I point something out about just one
- 32:24Speaker 5: more thing about his performance?
- 32:25Speaker 7: Can?
- 32:26Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 32:26Speaker 5: Okay, then we can go. We can absolutely go to
- 32:28Speaker 5: fast Card.
- 32:29Speaker 4: We don't have to thank you.
- 32:30Speaker 9: I know you've been working on it.
- 32:32Speaker 6: We can listen to we don't have to.
- 32:34Speaker 5: Can we just say, okay, this is like such I
- 32:37Speaker 5: think this is such a good piece of advice to
- 32:39Speaker 5: give to young actors because I think most people who
- 32:41Speaker 5: are listening to this will be like young actors.
- 32:43Speaker 3: And you need to hear this, like you should be
- 32:44Speaker 3: already ready.
- 32:45Speaker 8: Yes, yes, good advice, and trust you can be like
- 32:50Speaker 8: follow what we did.
- 32:52Speaker 5: Right, yeah, right. So if you noticed in his text
- 32:55Speaker 5: he said like please, please, please, like like three times
- 32:58Speaker 5: in a row, his character really.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Starts repetition, repetition exactly.
- 33:01Speaker 5: And so when you have repetition. What I loved is
- 33:03Speaker 5: that for the first please, you added a double use
- 33:06Speaker 5: it was please, which I thought was so good. It
- 33:09Speaker 5: was so exciting yes and so like as soon as
- 33:12Speaker 5: you see your character go please, you're like you're like
- 33:15Speaker 5: locked in. You're like, what's coming next? You know what
- 33:17Speaker 5: I mean? And then it was two regular pleases, which
- 33:19Speaker 5: I think we're so surprising, and I just really loved
- 33:22Speaker 5: how you switch that up.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Absolutely, And if you're at home right now and you're
- 33:26Speaker 3: like writing things down, like remember that with repetition, you
- 33:28Speaker 3: can always throw in a yes, yes, and it's just
- 33:31Speaker 3: going to keep them on their toes.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Like you're so good at like your comedy mastermind, Like
- 33:37Speaker 2: I cannot figure out how to do that stuff, like
- 33:40Speaker 2: like you're so gifted with improv in our improv classes,
- 33:43Speaker 2: like when we do improv formas it's so fast, you're
- 33:48Speaker 2: so you lean so hard and you kind of yell
- 33:50Speaker 2: at people when they.
- 33:51Speaker 7: Mess up, yes, which is so good.
- 33:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I keep the hands out.
- 33:56Speaker 3: WHOA, So you're ready for the cough action.
- 34:00Speaker 1: I'm ready for the collect It's good because you can
- 34:02Speaker 1: a lot of people think you can't win zip zaps up,
- 34:04Speaker 1: but I feel like you clearly win it.
- 34:07Speaker 8: Yeah, And I want to say, guys, we're talking a
- 34:09Speaker 8: lot about me, and I appreciate the love. I kind
- 34:11Speaker 8: of know that it's because everybody else is getting fifteen
- 34:15Speaker 8: more minutes in the showcase than I am. I I
- 34:19Speaker 8: appreciate the love, but I also see that like, you
- 34:21Speaker 8: guys are all amazing, and I don't know.
- 34:24Speaker 1: It was just sort of like how it shook out,
- 34:26Speaker 1: but like as we keep saying, no part, no small parts,
- 34:29Speaker 1: only small actors.
- 34:31Speaker 4: And I feel like it was unfair.
- 34:32Speaker 2: You should be able to do improv games or like
- 34:36Speaker 2: like you should be able to do like party quirks.
- 34:40Speaker 7: Like New Choice.
- 34:41Speaker 6: I would love for them. Yeah, maybe I'll tell mister
- 34:44Speaker 6: Mark that it's funny.
- 34:45Speaker 8: Sometimes I feel like mister Mark is in love with me,
- 34:48Speaker 8: and sometimes I feel like.
- 34:49Speaker 6: He hates my guts.
- 34:51Speaker 4: I never felt that he can't hate you. He can
- 34:56Speaker 4: probably loves you.
- 34:57Speaker 5: Yeah, he loves you. Sorry, Oh my god, I'm just
- 34:59Speaker 5: talking my head voice because I'm like feeling a little horse.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Take care of it. Your head voice is so angelous,
- 35:12Speaker 3: it doesn't he Honestly, let's talk about we have a
- 35:16Speaker 3: huge fresh batch of freshmen that came into our program.
- 35:21Speaker 4: Literally when I was.
- 35:25Speaker 3: And I see them in the d H and I'm like,
- 35:27Speaker 3: oh my god, they're so young and so silly. And
- 35:30Speaker 3: I know they're going to watch this video, so let's
- 35:32Speaker 3: like let's give some advice of like, like what I
- 35:35Speaker 3: wish someone told me when I was in your exactly, Well,
- 35:39Speaker 3: I I really wish someone had told me to avoid
- 35:44Speaker 3: the mashed potatoes in the quad.
- 35:47Speaker 4: You are so funny, You're.
- 35:50Speaker 1: So sorry, that's for fun go straight through you. Yeah,
- 35:56Speaker 1: like not to be too choked on them, right, Yeah,
- 35:59Speaker 1: Well they're both hard as rocks and make you poop.
- 36:02Speaker 7: There's like there's sort of no in between the quad.
- 36:06Speaker 6: I've never gotten an answer.
- 36:08Speaker 3: I've never gotten and like, if you want like a protein,
- 36:13Speaker 3: you have to go to the dining hall. But if
- 36:15Speaker 3: you want like a carb, if just that carb the quad.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Well, they want to be able to discern which food
- 36:22Speaker 1: groups are which, so they do all all carbs in
- 36:24Speaker 1: the quad.
- 36:25Speaker 7: All carbs are served in the quad, All.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Dairy is in the Student Center Protein Dining Hall. And
- 36:32Speaker 1: then if you want to dessert.
- 36:33Speaker 4: You gotta go to the gym.
- 36:35Speaker 3: We should have learned that lesson earlier.
- 36:38Speaker 4: Such good advice, and that's not gonna.
- 36:39Speaker 6: Be something I think about.
- 36:40Speaker 8: If you want to you have to go to the gym,
- 36:42Speaker 8: that's not going to affect me experiences.
- 36:45Speaker 9: There's nothing some liminal in.
- 36:46Speaker 3: That, especially on a day. Yes, yes, I learned that
- 36:53Speaker 3: from Cutter.
- 36:55Speaker 6: Yeah, I learned that from Parks and a creation.
- 36:57Speaker 8: Dude.
- 36:58Speaker 2: You see that's the thing you always like so funny.
- 37:03Speaker 3: But let me just say voice and speech class with okay,
- 37:09Speaker 3: crying anything.
- 37:13Speaker 4: Thank you?
- 37:14Speaker 3: Sorry, go ahead, said a compliment. So you're a freshman
- 37:20Speaker 3: and you are doing voice and speech with doctor Paul,
- 37:24Speaker 3: I highly recommend, I highly recommend practicing your sonnet right
- 37:31Speaker 3: before bed.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Right when I learned.
- 37:33Speaker 3: To like read my sonnet before bed, everything changed for me.
- 37:38Speaker 4: Everything.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, because it like it bakes in overnight.
- 37:44Speaker 7: That's something doctor Paul always said.
- 37:45Speaker 1: It is like you memorized before and then it bakes in,
- 37:48Speaker 1: and then you wake up and you've got like a
- 37:50Speaker 1: totally new.
- 37:50Speaker 7: Perspective on I felt that way with Broad City a lot.
- 37:54Speaker 3: And I think, like, what's so important is your vocal
- 37:56Speaker 3: warm up is specific to you, Like your vocal warm
- 38:00Speaker 3: this is so specific to Yeah.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Really okay, fine, okay, fine, freshman.
- 38:07Speaker 7: I mean this is just one way to do it.
- 38:09Speaker 1: This is not every way to do it, So that
- 38:12Speaker 1: like don't take it from there's lots of do what
- 38:14Speaker 1: works for you, but.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Lelyly load.
- 38:20Speaker 4: Love love love love.
- 38:28Speaker 7: And then you said it back and you said it forward.
- 38:31Speaker 6: And you guys were freshman roommates, right, we were.
- 38:35Speaker 7: I love our posters were so fun, Yes, did you
- 38:38Speaker 7: hear all?
- 38:40Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 38:40Speaker 12: That kind of was like triggering a little bit because
- 38:42Speaker 12: I was like, yeah, but back, yeah, like sucked through
- 38:48Speaker 12: like a dark tunnel, like back into that time, you know.
- 38:53Speaker 9: So that was fun much fun. We had a lot
- 38:55Speaker 9: of fun.
- 38:56Speaker 5: Yeah, And it was like it was just so funny
- 38:57Speaker 5: because like we're from two different worlds, you know, and
- 39:01Speaker 5: I'm like, I'm you know, I came with my one.
- 39:04Speaker 9: I was like, I'm ready for school, like you know, it's.
- 39:07Speaker 8: Really like a classic story, yes, my little like cap.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it's sort of like a like a Wicked like
- 39:14Speaker 1: a Glinda and and the other one situation.
- 39:19Speaker 3: It's alpha but never do that again, it's alphabet, never
- 39:22Speaker 3: do that. It's actually so embarrassed. Embarrassed that ruined our
- 39:27Speaker 3: broad city. So that up again, it doesn't matter if
- 39:31Speaker 3: you don't.
- 39:32Speaker 7: She's never never, it's never plage.
- 39:35Speaker 6: Literally that's the Wizards and can you imagine that.
- 39:43Speaker 4: Literally thousand.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Just changed the livesh gosh.
- 39:50Speaker 4: They literally told us.
- 39:50Speaker 3: We can't do like no thanks, say anything positive cash.
- 39:54Speaker 4: Sorry, my mind is just spinning. Listen cash, you.
- 40:02Speaker 6: Know about a minute of unadulterated cash.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Yeah, monologue, cash in monologue.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Okay, we're gonna be so quiet for literally sixty seconds.
- 40:15Speaker 6: And.
- 40:18Speaker 4: Okay, I guess I'm letting you guys in. Yeah. This
- 40:21Speaker 4: like silence makes me.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Uncomfortable, and uncomfortable makes me think of food, and then
- 40:26Speaker 2: food is kick, and then all of a sudden, like
- 40:29Speaker 2: kick by.
- 40:30Speaker 4: The Ocean, I got Kick by.
- 40:32Speaker 2: The Ocean, and I realized, like, man, I love that song,
- 40:35Speaker 2: and like if I could learn it, then I could
- 40:38Speaker 2: perform it. And so like maybe tonight I'll go home,
- 40:41Speaker 2: I'll smoke the littlest, littlest bit of a cigarette and
- 40:47Speaker 2: look at that song on guitar tabs dot com. And
- 40:51Speaker 2: for me, like then I have to do my finance homework.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Because I was never really a musical theater major. They
- 40:56Speaker 2: just let me do all the shows and then set
- 41:00Speaker 2: my finance homework. And then my friend Gregory is going
- 41:02Speaker 2: to come over and we're going to play Super Smash Bros.
- 41:04Speaker 2: And I love Super Smash Bros. And smash bros. Make
- 41:07Speaker 2: me think of smash bath r I P.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Yeah, the day is start coming and they don't stop coming.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Hit to the roof and I hit the running.
- 41:17Speaker 7: Okay, this was really illuminating.
- 41:18Speaker 6: And that was exactly a minute.
- 41:20Speaker 2: So yeah, I guess I'm a little twisted, guys, So
- 41:26Speaker 2: I guess it's a little funked up in there. I'm
- 41:27Speaker 2: sorry you had to see that.
- 41:29Speaker 3: I want another minute.
- 41:32Speaker 9: I think we should do another minute.
- 41:34Speaker 7: I kind of want to know more.
- 41:35Speaker 6: Can we do a vote? And can my vote count
- 41:38Speaker 6: four times?
- 41:43Speaker 3: Did that when we're talking about hawk?
- 41:45Speaker 4: That is a classic moment.
- 41:52Speaker 6: That's not kind of what I'm going for right now.
- 41:54Speaker 3: That has everyone rehearsed. They're they're part for our finale
- 41:59Speaker 3: of seeing your show.
- 42:00Speaker 11: Hu.
- 42:00Speaker 4: We do it for them like one time.
- 42:02Speaker 1: And this is the one where it's about they kind
- 42:05Speaker 1: of change all the lyrics to be about our school.
- 42:08Speaker 1: It's like that annual showcase and it's filmed and it's
- 42:11Speaker 1: actually watched by a lot of people.
- 42:13Speaker 2: It's like gets hundreds of thousands of views. It's kind
- 42:16Speaker 2: of stressful.
- 42:17Speaker 4: Actually, yeah, I mean.
- 42:18Speaker 3: I could I could give them a little taste. I
- 42:19Speaker 3: could start and you guys can add on just great,
- 42:22Speaker 3: my uncle by law right two times over?
- 42:26Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Have you heard of the last five years?
- 42:30Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think we've had we've heard of it.
- 42:32Speaker 6: Yeah, we actually sing it together a lot.
- 42:34Speaker 3: Five hundred twenty five thousand days in these classrooms. I'll
- 42:40Speaker 3: just leave it there.
- 42:41Speaker 8: Five hundred twenty five thousand mashed potato quis.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Five hundred twenty five thousand soloves to practice?
- 42:52Speaker 3: How do you measure measure a degree?
- 42:56Speaker 4: In guitars?
- 42:58Speaker 9: In in slag? I'm sorry, I have to rest my voice.
- 43:04Speaker 5: I'm so sorry.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Mister Mark and the times he's gone to oh in
- 43:11Speaker 3: Doctor Paul, in solos.
- 43:15Speaker 8: In grivices, in ad libs, or in vocal warm ups.
- 43:23Speaker 3: It's so cute how we're doing one line.
- 43:25Speaker 7: It's really cute because I kind of and it takes
- 43:27Speaker 7: a while to remember when part is yeah yeah, yeah, I.
- 43:30Speaker 9: Was like, I was so like into what all of
- 43:32Speaker 9: you were doing. I'm sorry, I've been not the sandwiches part.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Wait, we should just skip to the we should just
- 43:37Speaker 1: skip to the final line of the chorus.
- 43:39Speaker 7: How about ever, mind?
- 43:44Speaker 3: How about how about.
- 43:54Speaker 4: About moment?
- 43:59Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 44:01Speaker 6: University?
- 44:04Speaker 4: Yeahity talking about love?
- 44:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, we're excited to show obviously, like we just
- 44:19Speaker 1: got the.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Sheet music, it's gonna be freaking crazy, still walking through.
- 44:23Speaker 2: Believe they let me do a guitar solo in that
- 44:25Speaker 2: it's like crazy neither on my acoustic guitar, but they let.
- 44:29Speaker 3: Me bring it out and you can't get like more
- 44:31Speaker 3: than fifteen minutes.
- 44:31Speaker 6: It's just it's no guys, it's not about me.
- 44:33Speaker 8: Like it's fun and like and I I kind of
- 44:36Speaker 8: know I had a dream where I saw the future
- 44:40Speaker 8: realized areus when I'm forty five or fifty, I'm gonna
- 44:44Speaker 8: get the funniest roles, But it's gonna be a tough
- 44:47Speaker 8: twenty years for me.
- 44:49Speaker 6: It's gonna be a tough twenty years.
- 44:51Speaker 3: I think they had a dream here in this room
- 44:53Speaker 3: and that listened to that. I can find that really really.
- 44:55Speaker 5: Yes, And I think, you know what, that's gonna build character,
- 44:59Speaker 5: because if I can tell you anything from my time
- 45:01Speaker 5: working at Jersey Mikes.
- 45:03Speaker 9: It builds character. I could have been at.
- 45:05Speaker 5: A Shonda workshop, I could have been zooming, which Sir
- 45:07Speaker 5: Robert Brown, But that's not gonna build character.
- 45:09Speaker 9: And that's what you're gonna build.
- 45:10Speaker 5: And you're gonna be fucking best after anyone's ever seen
- 45:13Speaker 5: in twenty years.
- 45:13Speaker 6: And we're gonna be best friends forever. And I'm not
- 45:15Speaker 6: gonna get rid of your wedding.
- 45:16Speaker 4: No, I love you.
- 45:17Speaker 3: I love you.
- 45:18Speaker 6: I love you, so love you.
- 45:20Speaker 9: I love you.
- 45:21Speaker 3: This is the beginning of our lives. I can't believe it.
- 45:24Speaker 3: I'll never forget the moments we were in class together,
- 45:27Speaker 3: the moments we did we did cheat music together. I'll
- 45:30Speaker 3: just I just love all of you.
- 45:32Speaker 1: We're literally I've never felt closer to a group of
- 45:34Speaker 1: people in my life.
- 45:36Speaker 7: No, this bond will last forever.
- 45:38Speaker 2: I'm never forgetting any of you guys. You guys have
- 45:41Speaker 2: literally rocked my world and opened me up to be
- 45:45Speaker 2: the more complex guy that I am.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Yes, you guys know so much about me. You know
- 45:49Speaker 3: the size of my shits, you know every single little thing.
- 45:52Speaker 2: About Well, that's because you won't flush, because.
- 45:55Speaker 3: There's no reason why not just pile it off.
- 45:59Speaker 4: I'm gonna miss on. Woman.
- 46:00Speaker 9: Is us so much like my family?
- 46:02Speaker 8: Like literally, yeah, oh my god, I'm not gonna let
- 46:06Speaker 8: anything changes. I know there's some big people coming to
- 46:08Speaker 8: the showcase. I know the artistic director of the Poconost
- 46:10Speaker 8: County Playhouse is coming huge, and I don't want that
- 46:14Speaker 8: to change.
- 46:14Speaker 7: And it's not going to change us.
- 46:16Speaker 1: I trust each and every one of us here that
- 46:19Speaker 1: when I mean we get famous like, nothing is going
- 46:22Speaker 1: to change.
- 46:23Speaker 4: It's kind of remind me of a song.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Do you guys mind if I bring up my guitar?
- 46:26Speaker 6: Sure?
- 46:27Speaker 4: Sure, yeah, just the chorus.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Stop this train, get off and go home again.
- 46:44Speaker 5: The John may.
- 46:47Speaker 4: Stop this, stop this.
- 46:52Speaker 3: I'm inviting my uncle to the showcase. I'm doing it okay.
- 46:57Speaker 6: And I'm doing the fucking cat.
- 47:01Speaker 7: Father's be good.
