- 0:06Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to My Favorite Murder. That's Georgia Hartstar's

- 0:24Speaker 1: on the show. He is an immigration and criminal defense
- 0:27Speaker 1: attorney who you might know from TikTok. She is a
- 0:30Speaker 1: senior leader in the nonprofit world and.
- 0:32Speaker 2: A self professed frustrated writer, fledgling wedding, efficient and curly
- 0:36Speaker 2: hair activists.
- 0:38Speaker 1: And they're here to talk about their brand new legal podcast,
- 0:42Speaker 1: which debuts in mere days here on Exactly Right Network.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Please welcome all the way from New York City. The
- 0:48Speaker 3: hosts a brief recess Michael Foot and Melissa Malbranch.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Comes off.
- 1:01Speaker 3: And here we go.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Yeah, Hi, thank you for having us.
- 1:04Speaker 3: We're so excited to be here. Really, thank you.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Thrilled to have you, Thrilled to have you in a
- 1:09Speaker 2: time like this. I think we should go back to
- 1:11Speaker 2: the Ketamine conversation with her.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Ketamine Karen, she's in the studio, she's on it right now.
- 1:20Speaker 3: We're going to do the first live podcast.
- 1:24Speaker 4: She grew up with horses, so it is a very
- 1:26Speaker 4: apt conversation. It's a horse tranquilizer. Humans have you know,
- 1:30Speaker 4: appropriated Yeah, like.
- 1:32Speaker 3: They do for everything, right, that's true, horse.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Appropriate to the white man in the room to be like,
- 1:37Speaker 4: let's talk about appropriation. Let's talk about the horse culture
- 1:41Speaker 4: reappropriating it for my club, my circuit.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Party, for your club nights.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Yeah. No. Ketamine therapy is what I've been doing, and
- 1:50Speaker 4: it's incredible. It's helped with like deep anxiety. I think,
- 1:54Speaker 4: like I used to get really bad panic attacks and
- 1:56Speaker 4: just sort of like shifted the way I sort of
- 1:58Speaker 4: like perceive myself when I'm like experiencing anxiety. Do you
- 2:02Speaker 4: get anxiety? You're always like the cool calm collective.
- 2:05Speaker 5: I will say that historically I have not had anxiety
- 2:10Speaker 5: but perimenopause.
- 2:12Speaker 3: That bitch. Let me tell you something.
- 2:14Speaker 5: And since I really and since then, my anxiety is
- 2:21Speaker 5: ridiculous and it's about anything.
- 2:24Speaker 3: It could be about anything about nothing, right.
- 2:26Speaker 5: And I was actually going through my text messages looking
- 2:28Speaker 5: for something, and I found a thread between my cousin
- 2:32Speaker 5: and I where I was saying to her that I
- 2:35Speaker 5: had just come back from my gynecologist who said to me,
- 2:38Speaker 5: I think you're in perimenopause in twenty seventeen.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I am still there anything.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Oh yeah, but I'm not on I'm on the pack,
- 2:53Speaker 5: but I'm not on kedemy, and I feel like the
- 2:56Speaker 5: anxiety is such that it can almost paralyze you.
- 3:00Speaker 4: I've been there, and I think for me.
- 3:01Speaker 5: What was so surprising is that I didn't know what
- 3:03Speaker 5: was happening to me, right, So I just thought I
- 3:05Speaker 5: was going crazy, right.
- 3:06Speaker 4: No, I remember when you and you and I were
- 3:08Speaker 4: connecting a couple of years ago, when this was starting
- 3:11Speaker 4: to happen, and you were like, I actually think I'm
- 3:13Speaker 4: going in see.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Well, they didn't talk about it in twenty seventeen. It's
- 3:17Speaker 3: just now that we're finding out a huge explosion.
- 3:19Speaker 5: And I remember, you know, I went to my mom
- 3:22Speaker 5: and I was just like, did you have this?
- 3:24Speaker 3: No, yep, same my mom. My mom never turns out no.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it just got hot every once in a while.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Other than that, it was I can't.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Tell you the e I'm sorry, can we get the
- 3:33Speaker 4: arab actually?
- 3:35Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 3:35Speaker 3: Actually hot?
- 3:36Speaker 5: But interestingly, I remember when my mom I didn't know
- 3:40Speaker 5: what it was at the time, yes, but I remember
- 3:43Speaker 5: there was this period of time where I felt like
- 3:45Speaker 5: my mother was going insane. Yes, And I remember saying
- 3:48Speaker 5: that to my dad, I think something's wrong with mom,
- 3:50Speaker 5: and he was like, like, what and I was.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Like, I don't know, I'm a child.
- 3:54Speaker 5: I wasn't I was in my twenties, but like she
- 3:56Speaker 5: was acting so crazy, and she, in insight, I'm realizing,
- 4:01Speaker 5: was having panic attacks, was having anxiety.
- 4:04Speaker 3: It's when her clusterphobia really sort of exploded. Shehes, like,
- 4:08Speaker 3: you can't explain that to someone who won't get them
- 4:10Speaker 3: that it does feel like claustrophobia a little bit like
- 4:12Speaker 3: you're just you need to take off all of your
- 4:14Speaker 3: clothes now, and you're angry about it.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Yes, very angry. I'm not going through menopause, but I
- 4:22Speaker 4: have angrily wanted to rip my clothes off.
- 4:24Speaker 5: I can remember one day, like coming off of the subway,
- 4:27Speaker 5: going into the office and feeling like I was going
- 4:30Speaker 5: to die. I went into the ladies room. I took
- 4:32Speaker 5: off all my clothes and pressed my back against my
- 4:37Speaker 5: back up against the stainless steel door. Oh so good,
- 4:41Speaker 5: because the heat.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Is coming from inside the house.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Yes, it's her.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Totally.
- 4:48Speaker 2: You just can't control it in any way. And it
- 4:50Speaker 2: is a surprise. The thing that's driving me crazy is
- 4:53Speaker 2: now on TikTok, the big thing where they're talking about, Oh,
- 4:56Speaker 2: in women's medicine, they've never done any research about the
- 4:58Speaker 2: way ABCD. So this idea that now in twenty twenty
- 5:02Speaker 2: five were suddenly talking about Gary menopause and menopause is
- 5:06Speaker 2: a disgrace. It's it's insane.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Well, historically they would just be like, oh, you're crazy, right,
- 5:11Speaker 4: Why don't you just not be crazy?
- 5:13Speaker 5: I had read this thing where they were talking about
- 5:16Speaker 5: fuck but like burning witches at the stake and the
- 5:21Speaker 5: women were usually like in their forties.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Yeah, O my god.
- 5:26Speaker 5: I mean again, I don't I don't know, I mean
- 5:28Speaker 5: it yeah, but I mean that fits.
- 5:30Speaker 3: But if it's right, it kind of makes it. You're like, okay,
- 5:33Speaker 3: that's what it is. Yeah, yeah, I know. I think
- 5:35Speaker 3: about my mom too, and like she had to get
- 5:37Speaker 3: on you know, anti depressants and anxiety and it was
- 5:40Speaker 3: probably just hormones, but they didn't check that fact.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Well, let'sa call me one day and she was like,
- 5:45Speaker 4: I honestly am so filled with rage. I think I
- 5:48Speaker 4: don't know if this is attorney client confidentiality that I'm breaching.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Right now, but I wanted to.
- 5:53Speaker 4: She was like, I actually am concerned about what I
- 5:56Speaker 4: might do to someone. Yeah, I am so angry.
- 6:00Speaker 5: I mean I don't know if this is sort of related,
- 6:02Speaker 5: but a little bit so. A few months ago.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Do you remember this. A few months ago, I was
- 6:06Speaker 3: getting off the subway.
- 6:07Speaker 4: And we talked about podcast.
- 6:10Speaker 5: I accidentally stepped on the back of someone's foot and
- 6:14Speaker 5: I said, oh, excuse me. This man turned around and
- 6:17Speaker 5: he kicked me.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Wait, that's not even the worst part of it.
- 6:21Speaker 4: I was the first call. It was like, okay, assault
- 6:23Speaker 4: on the subway.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Yes, but like that was a part of it.
- 6:27Speaker 5: That's completely wrong, But that is not who I am.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I don't kill me. But I kicked this man back,
- 6:36Speaker 3: and this other man behind me came. He was like no, no, no, no, no.
- 6:40Speaker 5: I didn't kick him too very gently touched me in
- 6:47Speaker 5: the back and was like, don't do this, and he
- 6:50Speaker 5: kicked me.
- 6:51Speaker 3: What an angel that person?
- 6:52Speaker 2: I know.
- 6:55Speaker 5: I was so enraged and I feel like that has
- 6:59Speaker 5: never been me before. No, right, And I don't know
- 7:01Speaker 5: if Taraji Henson was on somebody's podcast and she said
- 7:05Speaker 5: that she really feels that we are born with a
- 7:09Speaker 5: certain amount of fucks to give, and by the time
- 7:12Speaker 5: I get yes, yes, and by the time you get
- 7:15Speaker 5: to your fifties, you are.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Out of fucks. Yeah, I'm three years old. I am
- 7:19Speaker 3: negative fucks.
- 7:22Speaker 2: To keep your feet to your.
- 7:25Speaker 5: Toe, bitch, and I'm willing to go down Like It's
- 7:28Speaker 5: weird instant.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Kind of what level of violence can you enact on
- 7:35Speaker 1: someone who just kicked you without getting okay?
- 7:38Speaker 4: So short, you have a duty breach, causation and harm.
- 7:42Speaker 4: So you have a duty to behave a certain way
- 7:44Speaker 4: in society. Okay, if there is a breach, such as
- 7:47Speaker 4: someone kicks you, then that duty has been breached. It
- 7:50Speaker 4: has to be the causation. You have to cause someone's harm,
- 7:53Speaker 4: so the harm is usually damages. So in this situation
- 7:56Speaker 4: there were there the harm sounds mostly emotional, I think ascertain,
- 8:03Speaker 4: so I would say that it probably wouldn't pass the sniff.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Like a core a civil suit, usually it's there's some
- 8:11Speaker 4: sort of documented medical issue either way.
- 8:14Speaker 2: With her side or that man's.
- 8:16Speaker 4: It depends on the state. So this was in New York,
- 8:19Speaker 4: so it depends contributory negligence. So if you were someone
- 8:22Speaker 4: who contributed to the other person's harm and they harmed
- 8:25Speaker 4: you as well, it kind of like cancels out in
- 8:27Speaker 4: some case, so it sometimes comes out in the wash.
- 8:30Speaker 2: But so what her flat tire and then the kick wash.
- 8:36Speaker 4: The extra book.
- 8:36Speaker 5: I need to know is technically not right and damage
- 8:42Speaker 5: apologize right, like it wasn't.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Just like I was.
- 8:44Speaker 4: That was you were at zero, that was a curable Yeah, I.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Would say, is that to be fair? Neither one of
- 8:51Speaker 5: us had any power behind the kick, like like end
- 9:00Speaker 5: in high school.
- 9:00Speaker 3: And I really didn't mean it, like so I didn't
- 9:03Speaker 3: hurt her.
- 9:03Speaker 2: It just came out.
- 9:04Speaker 5: He didn't hurt me, and I didn't hurt him. I
- 9:06Speaker 5: think I was just I was so offended. I was
- 9:09Speaker 5: offended symbolic yes.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Well, also to go from okay, a slight accident too okay,
- 9:18Speaker 4: intentional harm right, violence.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Violence New York City in the morning on a commute, it's.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Happened to all of yes, right, it's like it should
- 9:28Speaker 5: be over yourself, get over it.
- 9:31Speaker 2: But in these trying time are you seeing this? Is
- 9:35Speaker 2: this a thing that's like an escalating thing where the
- 9:37Speaker 2: normal interaction would have been no problem from that guy,
- 9:41Speaker 2: but now everyone is under this insane.
- 9:43Speaker 3: I will say, do you think this? I feel like
- 9:46Speaker 3: we are still not okay from the pandemic, right, I'm.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Just going to bring miss pandemic kind of walked out
- 9:51Speaker 4: of it. It's like, yeah, we were like okay, back
- 9:54Speaker 4: to work, deepas like we weren't like, oh, we should
- 9:56Speaker 4: all probably go to therapy.
- 9:59Speaker 5: Really traumatized, right, I mean we were stuck inside the
- 10:01Speaker 5: house and it felt like and it's easy, I think
- 10:04Speaker 5: to look back on and be like, Okay, we made
- 10:06Speaker 5: it out relatively okay. But in the very beginning, it
- 10:12Speaker 5: felt like the zombie apocalypse was upon us.
- 10:14Speaker 4: It was very scary.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Pizza delivery was going to kill us, like that's the thing.
- 10:18Speaker 1: We all thought we were going to die.
- 10:20Speaker 2: We were wiping down cereal boxes.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Leaving the mail outside right like you know.
- 10:26Speaker 5: It was it was and you know, and it didn't
- 10:28Speaker 5: help that the commander in cheap at the time whatever
- 10:31Speaker 5: how you feel, in the very beginning, did not take
- 10:34Speaker 5: it seriously enough and was And there are a lot
- 10:36Speaker 5: of people that we thought we could trust who were
- 10:38Speaker 5: saying it's like.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Getting a cold. Yeah, yeah, I know exactly.
- 10:45Speaker 4: So I remember when we were watching Italy, we were like,
- 10:47Speaker 4: oh and it was watching what was happening.
- 10:50Speaker 3: The body is like stacked up in in Brazil, it
- 10:53Speaker 3: was awful.
- 10:53Speaker 4: In New York, there were choppers overhead twenty four, it
- 10:57Speaker 4: was like living in saving private in situations.
- 11:01Speaker 5: You could see the streets were so empty and it
- 11:03Speaker 5: was bizarre. And I also think, what's interesting, like you
- 11:06Speaker 5: also saw that like wildlife came back around, right, Like, yes,
- 11:14Speaker 5: the water was cleaner because because you were drinking.
- 11:17Speaker 4: From the East River.
- 11:19Speaker 2: It was some beautiful time.
- 11:21Speaker 3: It was a magical time. Right.
- 11:23Speaker 2: I've never seen out my front window of a beautiful
- 11:26Speaker 2: view of the valley and it was crystal clear. I
- 11:29Speaker 2: could see so far that I was like, what is
- 11:32Speaker 2: that over there? I've never seen.
- 11:34Speaker 5: I mean, it just shows you, like we are the problem.
- 11:38Speaker 5: We are human beings are the problem.
- 11:40Speaker 2: It's us, whether it's on the subway or up where
- 11:43Speaker 2: the viewer.
- 11:44Speaker 3: It's all of it. We are the problem.
- 11:47Speaker 2: It's true. My god, how are you guys going to
- 11:48Speaker 2: solve that problem on your podcast?
- 11:50Speaker 4: So anyway, yes, we we actually we have a ten
- 11:52Speaker 4: step plan. It starts with me to down kicking people
- 11:57Speaker 4: on the subway. It's a whole plan. But yeah, so
- 12:01Speaker 4: we're excited about the show. I mean, we actually are
- 12:04Speaker 4: approaching a lot of these issues on the podcast. I
- 12:08Speaker 4: for the people who maybe know me from the internet,
- 12:10Speaker 4: maybe they don't everything I do there has to be
- 12:13Speaker 4: a this is what you can do button on the
- 12:17Speaker 4: end of it. I don't want any more doomscrolling. I
- 12:20Speaker 4: don't want any more think pieces about fascism. It's not
- 12:23Speaker 4: interesting to me. It is depressing speaking of ketamine, and
- 12:28Speaker 4: it's just not something I'm interested in consuming anymore. And
- 12:31Speaker 4: I just feel there's like this, I'm not a journalist,
- 12:34Speaker 4: but I am like a citizen who has at least
- 12:37Speaker 4: some knowledge of what folks can do to flex their
- 12:39Speaker 4: democratic muscles to combat what's going on in this country.
- 12:43Speaker 4: I do a lot of work with immigration advocacy, so
- 12:47Speaker 4: a lot of what I do is like, Okay, this
- 12:49Speaker 4: is literally what you can do from your sofa right
- 12:51Speaker 4: now if this is pissing you off, if this is
- 12:52Speaker 4: bothering you. So we don't cover any fucking story that
- 12:56Speaker 4: doesn't have something at the end where it's like, this
- 12:58Speaker 4: is what you can do if you didn't like this
- 13:00Speaker 4: and you want to do something.
- 13:01Speaker 3: So teaching moment's super a teaching.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Moment and like not like a like didactic educational like
- 13:07Speaker 4: sit down and eat your vegetable situation. It's like, no,
- 13:09Speaker 4: we're going to talk to this congressman. And I think
- 13:12Speaker 4: in the first episode, we talked to a congressman. Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 4: and I'm like, dude, what is the literal to do
- 13:16Speaker 4: list of what you are doing to fix?
- 13:18Speaker 1: It's overwhelming because very especially on social media, it's like, no,
- 13:22Speaker 1: that person was wrong, you have to do this, No,
- 13:24Speaker 1: this person is wrong to do that. This is you know,
- 13:26Speaker 1: and it's just you don't know where to start.
- 13:28Speaker 5: And I think the great thing is that because Michael
- 13:30Speaker 5: is an attorney, he sort of understands the law. I
- 13:33Speaker 5: am not, though, So I feel like maybe I can
- 13:35Speaker 5: represent like most people in the audience, right, So I'll
- 13:39Speaker 5: ask him a question like, Okay, that's great for you
- 13:41Speaker 5: as an attorney to go in and help one person.
- 13:44Speaker 3: What can I do? What can I do?
- 13:46Speaker 5: And I think I think a lot of us are
- 13:49Speaker 5: have grown weary of hearing this advice of like, well, right,
- 13:52Speaker 5: you're congressman, all right, sure, yes.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Right, right?
- 13:58Speaker 3: What is this Victorian.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Word?
- 14:05Speaker 4: Miss it?
- 14:08Speaker 3: What can I actually do?
- 14:11Speaker 5: Right as somebody as a LA person, you know, somebody
- 14:14Speaker 5: who has sort of average resources, right, And like I
- 14:16Speaker 5: don't have a huge social media presence, But what can
- 14:19Speaker 5: I do? What are the conversations that I could have
- 14:20Speaker 5: with people? And I think you know, at the end,
- 14:23Speaker 5: we're all looking for hope, right, but real hope, not
- 14:29Speaker 5: like airy fairy do you know what I mean? Like
- 14:31Speaker 5: I hate like I hate that, Like well you could
- 14:33Speaker 5: just sort of like I love my family very much.
- 14:36Speaker 4: But like.
- 14:38Speaker 5: But like no, no, you have to say it, right.
- 14:41Speaker 5: But like a lot of the times and if you are,
- 14:44Speaker 5: we're on we have WhatsApp groups, and I think this
- 14:46Speaker 5: is like a very sort of immigrant sort of situation.
- 14:50Speaker 3: There's a family WhatsApp.
- 14:51Speaker 4: Group, Melissa's family from from Haiti.
- 14:53Speaker 5: And they are big prayers, right, They love to pray,
- 14:56Speaker 5: They love a good saint. And I what I get
- 15:01Speaker 5: really frustrated at is like, you know, God is in charge.
- 15:05Speaker 5: That's great. Yeah, that's great if you are a believer.
- 15:08Speaker 5: Not everybody is, and that's also okay, But what can
- 15:11Speaker 5: I do?
- 15:12Speaker 4: We also have like non deities in charge too, who
- 15:15Speaker 4: have responsibility.
- 15:16Speaker 1: In the meantime, because it seems like there's like kind
- 15:18Speaker 1: of a disconnect. The Internet connection isn't great between us
- 15:20Speaker 1: and like you know, beauty in the meantime.
- 15:23Speaker 5: In the meantime getting broadcast? What can we what can
- 15:28Speaker 5: we actually do? What is you know? What is one
- 15:31Speaker 5: thing that I can do right, like an individual thing.
- 15:34Speaker 4: That's how I mean the podcast kind of came together
- 15:36Speaker 4: was because Melissa and I would sort of get together
- 15:38Speaker 4: and we'd be like, what are we what is going on?
- 15:40Speaker 4: What can we do? And we would kind of talk
- 15:42Speaker 4: about it, especially around like the Black Lives Matter movement.
- 15:44Speaker 4: We were sort of figuring out like and and those
- 15:46Speaker 4: were the dark days of the PAN first year. What
- 15:50Speaker 4: can we do? How can we be safe? How can
- 15:51Speaker 4: we what can we do if we get arrested? What
- 15:53Speaker 4: happens if something goes down at a protest? Like people
- 15:57Speaker 4: were getting beaten in reason right, right, So we were
- 16:02Speaker 4: kind of looking at each other as just as dear
- 16:04Speaker 4: friends know each other. What do we do?
- 16:06Speaker 2: What do we do?
- 16:07Speaker 3: How do we help?
- 16:08Speaker 4: So that was really like when we came into the show,
- 16:10Speaker 4: we were like, all right, that is the governing principle,
- 16:13Speaker 4: that is our guiding light.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I love that because it's like when two people who
- 16:17Speaker 1: agree completely talk, it's like now turn to us.
- 16:21Speaker 4: And that's a podcast exactly.
- 16:25Speaker 3: It's like we loved crying together. Let's sucking.
- 16:28Speaker 2: It makes me think though about you know, the amazing
- 16:31Speaker 2: No King's protests. But then of course, like the two
- 16:34Speaker 2: three days later, we start to hear on social media
- 16:37Speaker 2: it's like protests don't do anything, Marchians don't do anything,
- 16:41Speaker 2: and it's like, just as a person who isn't you know,
- 16:44Speaker 2: I grew up in the eighties and nineties where political
- 16:46Speaker 2: action was not cool. It was like, you don't talk
- 16:49Speaker 2: about that. That's for those people that went to like
- 16:52Speaker 2: the student un or whatever, and like everybody else needs
- 16:55Speaker 2: to be rock and roll. And you're watching, you know,
- 16:58Speaker 2: the fall of democracy kind of in front of you
- 17:01Speaker 2: and me seeing that where I'm like, that feels like
- 17:04Speaker 2: a bad faith voice that's now in here, when clearly
- 17:08Speaker 2: that was powerful and huge. And then then you see
- 17:12Speaker 2: the ice raids and you see these people being taken
- 17:15Speaker 2: and the rest of the community just coming right up
- 17:17Speaker 2: and around and then they walk away, and I'm like,
- 17:20Speaker 2: that's what it does.
- 17:21Speaker 3: It does, right, and that is the best part about it, right.
- 17:24Speaker 4: I mean, my husband and I we go, we take
- 17:26Speaker 4: the dog for a walk every night and we have
- 17:28Speaker 4: like a debrief. We do like our daily sort of
- 17:30Speaker 4: like debris.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Is it one of those dogs on your shirt?
- 17:34Speaker 3: Jack Jack is a jackets a dog.
- 17:39Speaker 4: He's wanted an all fifty States sexual offender Megan's Law,
- 17:44Speaker 4: just humping strangers and dogs in the st like he
- 17:47Speaker 4: is a wild animal. He is a rescue with two
- 17:50Speaker 4: men for a reason, because they can't handle any other situation.
- 17:53Speaker 4: He's thirteen, going dementia. Yeah, just watch dementia. Oh yeah,
- 18:00Speaker 4: he's like he's starting the sunset at night. He just
- 18:02Speaker 4: oh my god, he's yeah, you do even more adorable
- 18:07Speaker 4: and endearing as he just becomes like this like crusty
- 18:10Speaker 4: goblin and it is just like wandering around.
- 18:14Speaker 3: The house late, just like a senile cat. And she
- 18:18Speaker 3: screams me, just howls is me me.
- 18:23Speaker 1: She's like sixteen, okay, and she's going through it and
- 18:25Speaker 1: people keep giving us cat nip toys shaped knives, like
- 18:28Speaker 1: bloody knives and axes.
- 18:29Speaker 3: So she carries a bloody knife around the house. I
- 18:32Speaker 3: don't know, sorry, this is not here or there.
- 18:36Speaker 2: She's kitching you. Her new horror, I know, the irony
- 18:42Speaker 2: man being killed by a cat.
- 18:44Speaker 4: Kind of okay with that. That's actually that's probably in
- 18:47Speaker 4: Final Destination three or something like that. We go on
- 18:51Speaker 4: these walks and we sort of debriefed, like and we
- 18:53Speaker 4: were talking about the New King's Protest, and I was
- 18:55Speaker 4: like rad like what did it do? Like why is
- 18:58Speaker 4: this important? And like he's like much more emotionally stable
- 19:01Speaker 4: than I am, and he was like think about like
- 19:04Speaker 4: the impression that made on everyone. Not the president, yeah,
- 19:08Speaker 4: everyone else in an elected position in government saw this outcry,
- 19:14Speaker 4: saw all these people coming out, and when you're looking
- 19:18Speaker 4: at that crowd as an elected official who isn't in
- 19:20Speaker 4: the White House, you're seeing the people who are going
- 19:23Speaker 4: to vote or.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Not correct correction.
- 19:26Speaker 4: Yeah, that is the real power or something like that.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Interesting, Yeah, that's yeah, what else does protesting do?
- 19:32Speaker 1: That sounds so dorky, but like I really want to
- 19:34Speaker 1: know because I'm scared to go out in big crowds
- 19:37Speaker 1: like that and like what's going to happen? Is it
- 19:39Speaker 1: smart to, like, you know, get in the middle of
- 19:42Speaker 1: an ice raid? Is it smart too? Like what should
- 19:45Speaker 1: you do?
- 19:45Speaker 3: Which you see that? Yeah, that's a.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Really good question. I asked that question too. You know,
- 19:49Speaker 5: what do I do if ice comes into my neighborhood?
- 19:53Speaker 5: What do I do if ice comes to my workplace?
- 19:55Speaker 3: What can I do?
- 19:55Speaker 5: I Mean, there's a part of me that feels like
- 19:58Speaker 5: if they're in my neighborhood, I'm going to go it's
- 20:00Speaker 5: just not yelling immigration is here, don't open your doors,
- 20:04Speaker 5: don't open your doors immigration.
- 20:06Speaker 3: I feel safe doing that.
- 20:07Speaker 4: The ACLU currently has a lawsuit up against uh this
- 20:11Speaker 4: administration against ICE because they are arresting American citizens and
- 20:15Speaker 4: they're being held in detention centers, which is a clear
- 20:17Speaker 4: violation of so many costs. Right.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Did you see that when they tried to like yelling
- 20:22Speaker 3: I'm from the Bronx.
- 20:29Speaker 5: The New Yorker and me just my heart just opened
- 20:32Speaker 5: up and he was just like, suck my dick up.
- 20:36Speaker 2: And the girl in the polka dot dress.
- 20:39Speaker 4: So crazy with the double middle finger love her for me.
- 20:42Speaker 4: I'm just like I mean, I always think not myself
- 20:46Speaker 4: is like the governing principle, and everything I do, it's like, Okay,
- 20:48Speaker 4: I know, I'm a white man. I'm usually in a
- 20:50Speaker 4: suit and a tie. I'm usually at like an immigration courthouse.
- 20:54Speaker 4: I Am going to be the person who's in the middle. Like,
- 20:56Speaker 4: is how I need to like exercise that privilege?
- 20:58Speaker 3: You can stand up exactly.
- 21:01Speaker 4: I get incredible privileges in life being a white man
- 21:04Speaker 4: in a suit who has an education. I can walk
- 21:07Speaker 4: right past security guards into any building or business in
- 21:10Speaker 4: New York City security doesn't follow me around stores. Okay,
- 21:14Speaker 4: I get all these like fun privileges. When I get
- 21:16Speaker 4: pulled over, nothing weird, it happens. Okay, what can I
- 21:20Speaker 4: do to help those people who don't have those same privileges? Right? So,
- 21:23Speaker 4: how can I intervene in that adversarial situation where someone's
- 21:27Speaker 4: getting arrested?
- 21:27Speaker 2: Can we?
- 21:28Speaker 3: Like, how can that people like us?
- 21:30Speaker 4: Yeah? So thinking a lot about like depending on the situation,
- 21:33Speaker 4: Like I can advise people to break the law, because
- 21:35Speaker 4: I'll lose my life now, but I mean definitely attending protest,
- 21:41Speaker 4: definitely contacting. It depends on the situation too, right. I
- 21:44Speaker 4: Mean there's this incredible image on TikTok of like a
- 21:47Speaker 4: young girl in like a pilates oupha with an iced
- 21:49Speaker 4: coffee sitting down in front of a car that has
- 21:53Speaker 4: migrants in it. It's just sitting in front of a
- 21:57Speaker 4: car that's trying to drive away.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Wow.
- 21:58Speaker 4: People who've been to.
- 21:59Speaker 5: Tank, I think you you figure out what your comfort
- 22:02Speaker 5: level is, right, and then maybe and as time goes by,
- 22:05Speaker 5: maybe you push it a little bit, right. So you know,
- 22:08Speaker 5: I think I said this on our show, right, I
- 22:10Speaker 5: was talking to somebody and I'm like, you know, if
- 22:12Speaker 5: somebody says something in front of you that is clearly
- 22:15Speaker 5: racist or is an aphobic, and and they think it's
- 22:17Speaker 5: a joke, my favorite thing to do is to make
- 22:20Speaker 5: that person feel uncomfortable.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Right, Oh my.
- 22:22Speaker 4: God, this is the Melissa does this and she is
- 22:25Speaker 4: an absolute.
- 22:25Speaker 5: Con and I'm just like, oh, wait, I don't understand, Like,
- 22:32Speaker 5: turn it around to me.
- 22:33Speaker 3: I don't understand why.
- 22:34Speaker 4: That's because you know, you know, they're you know.
- 22:38Speaker 6: They're black, they're gay, and you whisper it and cannot
- 22:42Speaker 6: whisper it and be like what sorry, I couldn't hear you.
- 22:49Speaker 5: I don't I don't understand. Wait, So it's funny because
- 22:52Speaker 5: of that. And then eventually, yeah, the person is just
- 22:56Speaker 5: like frozen and they're just like oh no, I mean
- 22:58Speaker 5: so someone was.
- 22:59Speaker 4: Like, well, because there, you know, touching the skin.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Yes, And.
- 23:08Speaker 5: Then and then like blank blank blank blank, like when
- 23:11Speaker 5: you're frankly, the audacity right of somebody to come up
- 23:15Speaker 5: to me, a black woman and be like because and
- 23:18Speaker 5: this person was not a black person or a person
- 23:20Speaker 5: of color, and they were.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Just like because you know what, like, and I was like,
- 23:25Speaker 3: what are you saying now?
- 23:27Speaker 5: I didn't feel like, again, I'm not somebody who kicks people, right,
- 23:30Speaker 5: so I did not.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Story about going to have to.
- 23:37Speaker 5: But but if you are not somebody who is sort
- 23:40Speaker 5: of naturally aggressive, right, or you're not somebody who likes
- 23:44Speaker 5: to sort of cause a scene, you do it in
- 23:47Speaker 5: the space where you are, right. So I made this
- 23:51Speaker 5: person explain to me what it was they were trying
- 23:55Speaker 5: to do. And then there is something and maybe this
- 23:59Speaker 5: is me just being petty patty, but there's something that
- 24:02Speaker 5: I find invigorating about watching the person deflate.
- 24:05Speaker 3: In that way. You are not allowed to do that
- 24:08Speaker 3: in front of me.
- 24:09Speaker 4: You know.
- 24:10Speaker 5: There was somebody that I knew who they had asked
- 24:12Speaker 5: a question about whether or not the person was Indian,
- 24:15Speaker 5: and this person said, this person said, dot not feather,
- 24:22Speaker 5: excuse me.
- 24:23Speaker 4: We took great umbrage.
- 24:25Speaker 5: And so again is it the nineties, Explain to me
- 24:31Speaker 5: what it is that you're trying to stay here.
- 24:33Speaker 4: And a lot of people said in that discomfort.
- 24:36Speaker 5: Them uncomfortable until they are squirming, and hopefully without being preachy, right,
- 24:45Speaker 5: if that's not who you are, hopefully you've turned that
- 24:49Speaker 5: into some kind of a teachable moment.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Right.
- 24:51Speaker 5: So, like the same person, this person was deeply problematic.
- 24:54Speaker 5: But you know, we were talking about getting Mexican for
- 24:58Speaker 5: lunch and they said, oh, you're going to home depot.
- 25:02Speaker 4: What fire? Which is.
- 25:07Speaker 5: I think a lot of us have sometimes people like
- 25:10Speaker 5: that in our lives, who think that they could say
- 25:12Speaker 5: things like that and that they can get away with it.
- 25:16Speaker 5: If you are not somebody who was confrontational, there is
- 25:19Speaker 5: a way to turn that into a teachable moment, right.
- 25:23Speaker 1: That's kind of your podcast is going to be doing.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I can't wait to see christ interview people who don't
- 25:27Speaker 1: agree with you.
- 25:30Speaker 5: Very few people agree with that, and I am I'm
- 25:33Speaker 5: actually I'm actually really interested because of the rage the
- 25:36Speaker 5: rage problem that I have.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Am I going to be able to like perfect timing
- 25:39Speaker 3: for a time? Am I going to do?
- 25:40Speaker 5: What was the name of that woman from the Housewives
- 25:43Speaker 5: who threw up the table? Is that Liam Teresa on
- 25:52Speaker 5: the table?
- 25:53Speaker 4: We recorded the iHeart Studios in New York, which they
- 25:56Speaker 4: have they our producer c Jada Bolt on the table
- 26:00Speaker 4: just for just reliability. But I wasn't gonna I was
- 26:03Speaker 4: going to give you an note.
- 26:07Speaker 2: How has that then? Because like you guys, just going
- 26:10Speaker 2: in and doing your weekly video podcast is that like
- 26:14Speaker 2: adjustment for you guys, anyway, it.
- 26:16Speaker 5: Is, and I can It's really what's really interesting is
- 26:18Speaker 5: that I can see it.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Right.
- 26:20Speaker 5: So when I our first one, I think, when I'm
- 26:24Speaker 5: watching myself listening to myself, I feel like I came
- 26:27Speaker 5: across kind of wooden, do you.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Know what I mean. I was nervous. I was nervous.
- 26:31Speaker 3: I was anxious.
- 26:32Speaker 5: And I'm used to the conversations that I had with
- 26:35Speaker 5: Michael being between Michael and I, not with cameras, not
- 26:38Speaker 5: with people looking at us. But I've been able to
- 26:41Speaker 5: see we've been doing We've done quite a few of them,
- 26:44Speaker 5: and I have gotten more comfortable, you know, even though
- 26:47Speaker 5: it doesn't really feel exactly like the conversations that Michael
- 26:50Speaker 5: and I have when we were.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Alone, but it does.
- 26:53Speaker 5: I feel very safe with Michael, and I feel like
- 26:55Speaker 5: that's coming across right, Yes.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Like difficult conversations. I mean, we're talking about abortion rates,
- 27:02Speaker 4: We're talking about access to contraceptives. We have an opportunity.
- 27:05Speaker 4: People have the opportunity to leave us a voice smail.
- 27:07Speaker 4: We play it on the show. I ask questions, Yeah,
- 27:11Speaker 4: people ask us all sorts of crazy stuff. I mean,
- 27:13Speaker 4: we call it tales from the dms where we go
- 27:15Speaker 4: into like the crazy things people DM me, which is
- 27:18Speaker 4: like sometimes.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Why absolutely insane, but I love it.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Admitting to a crime.
- 27:23Speaker 2: That TikTok Michael made a TikTok recently, just showing there
- 27:27Speaker 2: was a couple of them, right, people saying like my
- 27:30Speaker 2: client was like, I totally did it.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Writing in writing, Yeah, a DM ever been used as
- 27:40Speaker 1: evidence in a court case?
- 27:41Speaker 4: Oh yeah absolutely. Yeah. So under the Fourth Amendment, anything
- 27:45Speaker 4: you text or your phone records, you are technically sharing
- 27:48Speaker 4: them with a third party and you don't have a
- 27:50Speaker 4: right to privacy. So if you are texting someone technically
- 27:54Speaker 4: or texting at and T who then sends it to
- 27:57Speaker 4: your friend, so you've already breached that expectation of confidentiality
- 28:01Speaker 4: and the text message, and therefore it's not protecting under
- 28:04Speaker 4: the Fourth Amendment.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I remember being way really young and hearing that those
- 28:07Speaker 1: remember the used to supermarket cards, that they were like
- 28:10Speaker 1: membership cards.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Yeah card, Yes, that they can subpoena that. Yeah, below
- 28:16Speaker 3: my fucking mind.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Yes, a guy found out that his wife was cheating
- 28:19Speaker 4: on him from the easy Pass. Yeah, I got the
- 28:21Speaker 4: easy Pass wreck going back and forth.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Wow, yeah, yeah, that'll do it?
- 28:27Speaker 4: Yea. I represented her in the divorce and how's she doing.
- 28:31Speaker 2: She's great, flourishing.
- 28:33Speaker 4: She got enough money to use that easy pass and
- 28:36Speaker 4: hire me girl. You got this.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it's such a public world, like it's that I
- 28:43Speaker 2: think that kind of information, especially for say a gen
- 28:46Speaker 2: X or something where it's like that was not the
- 28:48Speaker 2: truth for my whole life until twenty six seven whatever,
- 28:52Speaker 2: and now suddenly it's like, oh, you're on the on
- 28:55Speaker 2: camera at the.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Store here, and I'm going through I'm going down Montana
- 29:02Speaker 4: Avenue and someone is filming me in the way because
- 29:06Speaker 4: they're like, look at this self driving car go by,
- 29:09Speaker 4: and I'm like, I've been documented at this place here. Yeah,
- 29:12Speaker 4: at this moment, I.
- 29:13Speaker 5: Mean, aren't you As a fellow gen xer, I am
- 29:16Speaker 5: so glad that my life was not recorded.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Right every morning I wake up the Lord, thank you.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Get it on camera right now? What was it? Do
- 29:27Speaker 4: it straight to camera.
- 29:29Speaker 2: I used to do a lot of fake talk shows
- 29:31Speaker 2: where I was being interviewed by David Letterman, but it
- 29:34Speaker 2: was just an empty chair.
- 29:35Speaker 4: Oh my god. I used to drive around talking back
- 29:37Speaker 4: to Terry Gross and I'd be like, oh, what was
- 29:40Speaker 4: the question? I go and I'd answer.
- 29:43Speaker 7: That, Terry, I'd be chatting with her this is Jeopardy,
- 29:47Speaker 7: and you'd be like really trying to construct the perfect
- 29:50Speaker 7: answer where you're like, Dave, the thing about me is
- 29:53Speaker 7: that just I feel like I'm a natural I used
- 29:56Speaker 7: to do.
- 29:56Speaker 4: That, and I would do like my haunting n PR voice.
- 29:59Speaker 4: You know't have run an pr well, Terry. The thing
- 30:03Speaker 4: about existing as a queer man in America, he's so calm.
- 30:07Speaker 4: We look at ourselves the way that we see the
- 30:09Speaker 4: world reflection in a mirror back of what's happening in
- 30:13Speaker 4: the world around that is actually perfect if you're watching
- 30:18Speaker 4: book me, I feel like.
- 30:21Speaker 2: My voice has never gone to that decibel in natural
- 30:24Speaker 2: in the natural world, Natural world, such a bad person.
- 30:27Speaker 3: That's a beta blocker voice.
- 30:29Speaker 4: Talking about Oh I love a good Beata.
- 30:32Speaker 3: That has got me through this tour is take a
- 30:33Speaker 3: beta blocker.
- 30:35Speaker 4: I'm waiting for the hotels to like leave it on
- 30:37Speaker 4: the pillow for me, like I am waiting by the
- 30:40Speaker 4: wayside now that everyone's like paleo and not eating sugar,
- 30:44Speaker 4: I want a little patan al on my pillow before
- 30:46Speaker 4: because it's just like commune a little bit and it's
- 30:49Speaker 4: nice it's not like a Xanax where you're like.
- 30:51Speaker 3: It's not Nope, you can take it in the middle
- 30:53Speaker 3: of the.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Day, operate heavy machinery.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Recommend you don't please don't.
- 31:00Speaker 3: I feel like I need to investigate that you do.
- 31:01Speaker 1: I said your racing thoughts in a way that's does
- 31:04Speaker 1: that like Xanax does too. But you're fucked up, you know,
- 31:07Speaker 1: and likens.
- 31:10Speaker 4: Down the like music playing in the background in your.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Brain exactly, which is just Sabrina Carpenter on a list
- 31:17Speaker 1: tour right, like crazy.
- 31:20Speaker 4: We actually I actually, oh my god, you're the composer
- 31:22Speaker 4: from exactly right. I don't know if he has a
- 31:25Speaker 4: head out on me because I had him change the
- 31:28Speaker 4: music too, and I had him based off Sabrina Carpenter.
- 31:32Speaker 4: I don't know if we're allowed to say this on
- 31:33Speaker 4: the show, but I sent him house tour and I
- 31:35Speaker 4: was like, can you take the underlying like nineties theme
- 31:38Speaker 4: from this? Melissa and I have a lot of nineties references. Yeah, uh,
- 31:42Speaker 4: you know Dunker even though she.
- 31:44Speaker 5: Was a child, even though yes, and I was out
- 31:46Speaker 5: here making terrible decisions.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Just you my name's name?
- 31:52Speaker 2: How did you guys me? Speaking of that?
- 31:54Speaker 4: Yeah, Melissa and I have gotten to know each other
- 31:57Speaker 4: through we work together. We've known each other just for
- 32:00Speaker 4: about a decade now, right, and we have one absolutely chaotic,
- 32:04Speaker 4: villainous best friend who is sort of the glue between us.
- 32:07Speaker 4: She's my favorite, Alissa, and she is our best friend.
- 32:10Speaker 5: Alyssa is the kind of person yeah, yeah, yeah, Lisa,
- 32:13Speaker 5: Alissa is you know, the kind of friend that you
- 32:16Speaker 5: have that is down for whatever. Alyssa, We're going to
- 32:20Speaker 5: Croatia tomorrow.
- 32:22Speaker 4: She's she's at the airport.
- 32:25Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:26Speaker 3: She upgraded your seats and.
- 32:28Speaker 4: She has the miles like she is never home. And
- 32:31Speaker 4: we tracked your location because we kept do we have
- 32:35Speaker 4: shared custody of this thirty seven year old woman?
- 32:38Speaker 3: I know because I worry about you too.
- 32:41Speaker 4: Are we at a casino in the morning. I'm on
- 32:44Speaker 4: the away because my dog is pissing everywhere. I'm cleaning
- 32:47Speaker 4: it up and I'm checking your location. You do?
- 32:50Speaker 3: And she's like, oh, I just gota.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Do you remember when her she left her phone and
- 32:55Speaker 4: Angel found it had a Yankees game and a guy
- 32:57Speaker 4: named Angel and the Bronx found it. He did, and
- 32:59Speaker 4: she was like, I'm going to go meet this guy.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Angel's got my phone, and I was like, you are
- 33:05Speaker 4: going with me?
- 33:06Speaker 3: You can't do that.
- 33:08Speaker 4: Angel I was like, you're paying for the uber. I'm
- 33:10Speaker 4: coming with her on your security, and we went and
- 33:12Speaker 4: got her phone.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Is a good friend, it was.
- 33:16Speaker 4: It was more the paperwork alone. If something happened to her,
- 33:20Speaker 4: I'm not doing that paperwork. I'm not talking to her
- 33:23Speaker 4: parents about this. It is untenable. It's not going to happen.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Could Alyssa ever make an appearance on the podcast D Yeah,
- 33:31Speaker 2: Chaotic Corner, which.
- 33:32Speaker 4: The problem issue to be there on time never mind? Yes,
- 33:37Speaker 4: but I do think at some point she's going to
- 33:39Speaker 4: get so mad. She does have major fomo she does.
- 33:42Speaker 4: She's going to kick down that fucking studio door happen
- 33:46Speaker 4: in a chunky boot.
- 33:47Speaker 2: What can she bring to the table? What can she
- 33:49Speaker 2: help with? Do we think? What does she what's her strength?
- 33:52Speaker 5: Alyssa just brings herself like the Alyssa energy, Like everybody
- 33:56Speaker 5: needs a.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Friend like that, Sally.
- 33:57Speaker 4: I went to a drag show with Alyssa last weekend
- 33:59Speaker 4: and Clint and she whatlet.
- 34:01Speaker 3: The record reflect, they never asked me to go to
- 34:03Speaker 3: any kind of things.
- 34:04Speaker 4: Well, okay, it was we went at midnight okay, and
- 34:07Speaker 4: I had a couple of drinks on me and this
- 34:09Speaker 4: is always out. So I text her. I was like,
- 34:11Speaker 4: meet me at the show. I'm in the bar and
- 34:13Speaker 4: i can see her through the window fifty feet away
- 34:17Speaker 4: and I'm there for like ten minutes watching her on
- 34:19Speaker 4: her phone, and I'm like, what are you doing? So
- 34:22Speaker 4: I called her because I'm like, I know you're on
- 34:24Speaker 4: your phone and I'm in here throwing dollar bills out
- 34:27Speaker 4: of drag queen yep, And she's like, sorry, booking a flight.
- 34:32Speaker 4: She was booking a flight at midnight jeroone on the street.
- 34:36Speaker 4: It's all the time.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Where's she go?
- 34:38Speaker 4: I don't think she and it was like, that is
- 34:42Speaker 4: a computer activity. That's not a phone at we don't
- 34:45Speaker 4: book phone that's a desktop situation. We're not doing this
- 34:52Speaker 4: on our phone.
- 34:53Speaker 3: She does.
- 34:54Speaker 4: I'm too scared.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I do it all the time, as it's not flights obviously,
- 34:57Speaker 1: but like, can you use your phone for.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Things like that in public?
- 35:01Speaker 4: Should you? I don't know?
- 35:03Speaker 3: No, I don't think so.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Yeah, because you're putting because you're putting your credit card information.
- 35:07Speaker 4: But how my credit cards have been stolen all the time. Yes,
- 35:10Speaker 4: I think they think I'm running game, because it's like
- 35:13Speaker 4: it's always like eighty like eight hundred dollars of vapes
- 35:16Speaker 4: and queens on my credit card. They go to the
- 35:20Speaker 4: vape store like down the road.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Stock up while we have this credit card available.
- 35:26Speaker 4: And I'm on the phone with the person from AMEX,
- 35:28Speaker 4: and I'm like, I swear I listen to this voice.
- 35:33Speaker 4: It's not a voice, hard smoker. Okay, this is American spirits.
- 35:39Speaker 3: To do American spirits.
- 35:41Speaker 4: All these Yeah, thank you.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Well, maybe she'd be great at you guys could do
- 35:48Speaker 3: like pick a side.
- 35:49Speaker 4: Oh yes, we could do a great debate.
- 35:53Speaker 3: She'd be great about that. She would be actually really good.
- 35:55Speaker 2: If you don't know, this is a little game where
- 35:57Speaker 2: essentially we just make you pick aside in a very
- 36:00Speaker 2: benign Yeah.
- 36:01Speaker 1: People write in just their basic problems. We're not going
- 36:03Speaker 1: to solve that anyone's big problems.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Don't listen to us.
- 36:06Speaker 4: That's not our I a litigator to come out and
- 36:09Speaker 4: fucking fight about something. Settle on a hell yeah right, okay,
- 36:13Speaker 4: I'm so ready.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Do you want me to go first?
- 36:15Speaker 3: You have good one.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Let's do it.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Let's see.
- 36:16Speaker 2: The subject line of the email was seventeen years of
- 36:19Speaker 2: contention Hi, friends, boy, do I have the lowest stakes,
- 36:23Speaker 2: longest running pick aside for you. My husband and I've
- 36:25Speaker 2: been married for seventeen years, and at least twice a
- 36:28Speaker 2: month for that entire time, we have argued over which
- 36:31Speaker 2: is better, the basic Kraft mac and cheese with the
- 36:34Speaker 2: powder or the velvet to shells and cheese with the
- 36:37Speaker 2: sauce pack. I'm not going to tell you who prefers
- 36:39Speaker 2: witch so as not to bias your opinion. This is
- 36:42Speaker 2: such a low stakes issue. This is we will both
- 36:44Speaker 2: eat either, our kids will eat either. It's just an
- 36:48Speaker 2: argument over preference. But I want the upper hand, so
- 36:51Speaker 2: I'm hoping you ladies agree with me. Thanks for everything
- 36:53Speaker 2: you do, Brooke.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Okay, do you want to rock paper scissors for a side?
- 36:56Speaker 5: Now?
- 36:56Speaker 3: You go ahead first?
- 36:57Speaker 4: Okay, Well, should I do like an opening statement and
- 37:03Speaker 4: thank you ladies and gentlemen of the jury. I will
- 37:07Speaker 4: be representing the Velveta Cheese here in court today and
- 37:12Speaker 4: you're going to hear a lot from the defense about
- 37:14Speaker 4: what is and is not cheese and what constitutes cheese.
- 37:17Speaker 4: We have experts here in the courtroom. We're going to
- 37:20Speaker 4: talk about the process that powders go through and how
- 37:23Speaker 4: they are still cheese even though they're reconstituted. However, let's
- 37:28Speaker 4: say an animal gets run over in front of your house, right,
- 37:30Speaker 4: very sad, very tragic, and no one comes and cleans
- 37:33Speaker 4: it up, and it's a particularly dry season and it
- 37:35Speaker 4: dries out right, and then it rains and it reconstitutes.
- 37:41Speaker 4: Is that still an animal? I don't think so. And
- 37:44Speaker 4: you're going to hear a lot from the defense about
- 37:47Speaker 4: what is and is not reconstituted cheese here today. And
- 37:51Speaker 4: what I'm here to tell you is at it acent because
- 37:55Speaker 4: Belvida is in its purest form. We're not modifying, We're
- 37:59Speaker 4: not at You don't have to add and take away
- 38:02Speaker 4: in order to give something its original shape, texture, and taste.
- 38:07Speaker 4: So in conclusion, Velvita is and always will be the
- 38:15Speaker 4: best mac and.
- 38:16Speaker 5: Cheese, the best box mac and cheese. Yes, yeah, okay,
- 38:20Speaker 5: so I'm not going to do it.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Michael just did.
- 38:21Speaker 5: I couldn't do that anyway, It's you said.
- 38:25Speaker 4: That all the time. Yeah, whatever, Michael just did.
- 38:28Speaker 5: I hate them both, but I suppose that's the problem,
- 38:35Speaker 5: is that I don't like fake cheese, and they both
- 38:40Speaker 5: they both feel like fake cheese to me. However, there
- 38:43Speaker 5: is a certain level of creaminess to the velveta shells
- 38:49Speaker 5: mac and cheese. What I wish though, what I wish, deeply,
- 38:52Speaker 5: deeply wish. I don't like my mac and cheese with shells.
- 38:56Speaker 5: I like my mac and cheese with like the elbow type. Right,
- 39:00Speaker 5: So if we could do macaroni with macaroni, if we
- 39:03Speaker 5: could do the creamy mac and cheese with the right.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Pasta, has anyone done that? I don't know.
- 39:11Speaker 2: You know, there's somebody out there that buys both and combined.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Sure, that's what I would go for that.
- 39:16Speaker 4: I like the shell because it gets kind of stuck
- 39:19Speaker 4: in there. You don't like that?
- 39:20Speaker 2: No, no, no, that answer is just so diplomatic.
- 39:23Speaker 4: It's just like it's very much yeah, Kerrie Russell.
- 39:27Speaker 5: But I feel like Melissa malbranche response, Yes.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Yeah, that's how you do. Like that's usually response always
- 39:34Speaker 4: like it's all disgusting. However, I will say that, you know,
- 39:39Speaker 4: I do make my own bestchamel for my macar I
- 39:41Speaker 4: do she does?
- 39:43Speaker 3: You know what, lady's your what's your recipe?
- 39:47Speaker 5: A combination has a good one. My grandmother had a
- 39:50Speaker 5: good one. I usually come combine all those things. It
- 39:54Speaker 5: can't just be the one kind of cheese. You need
- 39:56Speaker 5: several cheese.
- 39:57Speaker 4: To Each one has a different purpose.
- 40:00Speaker 5: And I like a baked mac and cheese as opposed
- 40:03Speaker 5: to a stove top mac and cheese.
- 40:05Speaker 3: They have different purposes. Yes, when is late night? Yes,
- 40:08Speaker 3: sound drunk? Yeah, you need something to snake one your
- 40:12Speaker 3: kids shove it in their mouth. You're done.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Yeah, We're always I'm Melissa is always making fun of
- 40:15Speaker 4: me because I go to Taco Bell when I am
- 40:18Speaker 4: just glazed over, and people will recognize me as like
- 40:21Speaker 4: the TikTok lawyer at four am Taco Bell, because it's
- 40:25Speaker 4: all like twenty two year olds from TikTok at the
- 40:27Speaker 4: Taco Bell therapart you except for me. I'm like the
- 40:31Speaker 4: long in the tooth, a little long in the truth
- 40:34Speaker 4: to be going out all night.
- 40:35Speaker 2: It's just tac.
- 40:38Speaker 4: You're not supposed to get crutch girl. And so when
- 40:41Speaker 4: I am there sometimes people will be like, Sod's giving
- 40:44Speaker 4: me trump, Oh my god, And I'm like, I've got
- 40:47Speaker 4: one eye on last weekend and one eye on next
- 40:49Speaker 4: week that is and gone. There is no way I
- 40:52Speaker 4: could be giving legal advice at this point. And Brad
- 40:54Speaker 4: stepped in the one time he was like, he cannot
- 40:56Speaker 4: be giving listen to anything. He said, he will right
- 41:00Speaker 4: because because he was at the club with me what
- 41:02Speaker 4: I was doing. He's like, you should not be talking
- 41:04Speaker 4: to anyone right now, not.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Even after forty eight hours, when I yes, yeah that's true. Okay,
- 41:10Speaker 3: one another one. Wait, wait, where do you guys come?
- 41:13Speaker 4: Oh?
- 41:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we don't matter.
- 41:16Speaker 2: You're trying to make you guys argue. Well, I have
- 41:21Speaker 2: very early daycare memories of Kraft mac and cheese that
- 41:26Speaker 2: when I smell it, I just go like that, like
- 41:28Speaker 2: that kind of like I realized I was being warehoused
- 41:31Speaker 2: at age four, and I was just like, what the
- 41:33Speaker 2: is it is?
- 41:34Speaker 4: Reaction? Yeah, I can smell at Chabani yogurt across the
- 41:38Speaker 4: something platform. I can triangulate someone's fucking location based off
- 41:41Speaker 4: that goddamnani smell. You know that smell? Yeah, it's like
- 41:46Speaker 4: powdering the airport at five hours. You didn't sleep, You're
- 41:51Speaker 4: waiting to bore your stomach for the South there already.
- 41:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you're making me so sad.
- 41:57Speaker 4: Anyway, sorry, bring us back, Bring us back.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Well, I have a Midwestern husband who loves snacks and
- 42:03Speaker 1: like really bad food, so he buys the little cups,
- 42:05Speaker 1: individual cups.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Craft. Oh yeah, we do the powder. We mix it up.
- 42:10Speaker 3: It's like perfect. And then you add more cheese.
- 42:13Speaker 4: Oh from the real cheese. You got to get that.
- 42:17Speaker 4: I don't know what they're doing at the Telemook Factory.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Delicious and I was just happy people living in a
- 42:22Speaker 2: beautiful valley.
- 42:24Speaker 4: I met one of the employees and he was, yes,
- 42:27Speaker 4: he's like dating my cousin. They might be married. I
- 42:30Speaker 4: didn't if I didn't send a gift, I'm.
- 42:31Speaker 3: Sorry, no you're not.
- 42:35Speaker 4: This is a gift to get so and he was like,
- 42:38Speaker 4: I've worked there for years and it's like the most
- 42:40Speaker 4: wonderful employer. It was like it was actually I think
- 42:42Speaker 4: it might be a cult.
- 42:43Speaker 2: We stopped there on the way from like Portland to
- 42:47Speaker 2: the to the ocean, and it's this gorgeous look. It
- 42:50Speaker 2: looks like you you suddenly went into the picture on
- 42:54Speaker 2: the front of a package of cheese. Like the little Hills,
- 42:58Speaker 2: the like Green Hills go like this in the split
- 43:00Speaker 2: idyllic farmhouse, perfectly stage.
- 43:03Speaker 4: They have a.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Dairy and a factory that you can tour, and then
- 43:07Speaker 2: at the end you can buy whatever they make. And
- 43:11Speaker 2: there's this big ice cream shop. So everybody there at
- 43:14Speaker 2: the end of the tour is eating triple scoop the
- 43:16Speaker 2: ice creams and smiling and singing.
- 43:21Speaker 4: What's everyone's ice cream order? That's a that's a good Yeah,
- 43:24Speaker 4: peanut butter and chocolate. Peanut butter and chocolate.
- 43:26Speaker 3: Cookies and cream.
- 43:29Speaker 5: Brend and Jerries has everything but the Yeah.
- 43:34Speaker 4: The earliest who can't make up their mind right, like
- 43:38Speaker 4: a little bit of everything, chocolate chip because I very cleansing, yes,
- 43:42Speaker 4: very light, elevating. Yeah, it's like the elevated choice for
- 43:47Speaker 4: the modern woman.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Like the Orpper patty where it's like, this isn't a
- 43:50Speaker 3: chocolate bar. Those are my favorite.
- 43:53Speaker 4: That's my favorite because those are egg whites in there. Yeah,
- 43:59Speaker 4: it's not vegan, so so be warned. I came here today.
- 44:02Speaker 4: I was like, I was in I have a full
- 44:04Speaker 4: leather jacket having a big leather back, and I was like,
- 44:06Speaker 4: I hope, no, one not exactly right.
- 44:09Speaker 2: There's a couple of I'm sure there are.
- 44:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I hope they're not. And you know what, I
- 44:12Speaker 4: can handle it. I'm okay. You know I've been through worse.
- 44:15Speaker 3: Sure you passed the bar.
- 44:17Speaker 2: You're still part of this family.
- 44:18Speaker 3: I mean, as long as it was it really just
- 44:19Speaker 3: a big fur a big bear, a.
- 44:22Speaker 4: Vintage for we talked a lot about vintage for.
- 44:25Speaker 5: Okah, Right, I think it is, I mean, And maybe
- 44:28Speaker 5: I'm just sort of like trying to I don't know
- 44:31Speaker 5: justify what I'm doing, but I feel like it's already right.
- 44:36Speaker 3: And I didn't do it, and.
- 44:38Speaker 4: It was a minute ago. It wasn't like last.
- 44:41Speaker 5: The first four coat that I got I inherited from
- 44:42Speaker 5: an aunt of mine, and I will say that I
- 44:45Speaker 5: remember when she got it, and for her, I feel
- 44:49Speaker 5: like it was a moment where she felt she had arrived,
- 44:52Speaker 5: like it was like a big deal. I feel like
- 44:54Speaker 5: in the eighties, right when I was growing up, a
- 44:56Speaker 5: woman with a fur coat was a woman who had arrived, right,
- 44:59Speaker 5: that is so, yes so, And she passed away and
- 45:01Speaker 5: she didn't have any children, and the rest of my
- 45:05Speaker 5: cousins all lived in sort of tropical places. So I
- 45:07Speaker 5: was like, so it's either I take it or it
- 45:10Speaker 5: ends up in.
- 45:11Speaker 3: A landfill somewhere, right.
- 45:13Speaker 5: And I also, because I love estate sales so much,
- 45:16Speaker 5: there was this woman who she wasn't publishing, she had died.
- 45:19Speaker 3: She had the best clothes in the world.
- 45:21Speaker 4: People publishing have fears the publishing.
- 45:25Speaker 3: And distract up and I bought her for a coat
- 45:27Speaker 3: and I love it so much.
- 45:29Speaker 4: But I get that people called me from the estates side,
- 45:32Speaker 4: and I'm the friend people call when they're like about
- 45:34Speaker 4: to maybe do something on ethical or like, I just
- 45:36Speaker 4: kind of want to like run the gut check past you,
- 45:38Speaker 4: because my ethics are a little gray. I would say,
- 45:43Speaker 4: you know, I do represent people accused of violent crimes.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Sometimes I do a lot of work with immigration defense,
- 45:50Speaker 4: but sometimes there are like a lot of crimes attached
- 45:52Speaker 4: to it. I was just telling the two of you
- 45:53Speaker 4: before we started rolling about my client who has was
- 45:58Speaker 4: maybe or maybe allegedly caught with a bunch of heroin
- 46:01Speaker 4: at the border. So we've a lot of things. I'm
- 46:04Speaker 4: sort of the ethical gray area friend, which is like
- 46:06Speaker 4: a really fun person. And Melissa did call me and
- 46:08Speaker 4: ask me. She didn't call me as if she I
- 46:11Speaker 4: did there was some sort of penous crime committed. I
- 46:14Speaker 4: was like, yeah, do it. I died and my mom
- 46:19Speaker 4: donated her first to the animal shelter.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Sounds like a.
- 46:24Speaker 5: Threat, but you know what though, I had so a
- 46:28Speaker 5: while ago when I got this coat I posted it
- 46:31Speaker 5: and I was just like, what do you What do
- 46:32Speaker 5: people think.
- 46:33Speaker 3: I should do?
- 46:33Speaker 5: And a lot of people said that I should donate
- 46:35Speaker 5: it to an animal shelter.
- 46:37Speaker 4: For the puppies to like snuggle with when they're like
- 46:40Speaker 4: if they don't have their But I.
- 46:41Speaker 5: Was like, yeah, I don't know, Like it felt weird, right,
- 46:45Speaker 5: It's almost like giving chicken to a chicken.
- 46:49Speaker 2: There's there's a butcher shop in New York. I lived
- 46:52Speaker 2: there very quickly.
- 46:53Speaker 4: I'm so worried where the.
- 46:56Speaker 2: Outside is a little pig chef you're talking about?
- 47:00Speaker 4: Yeah, and I took pictures.
- 47:02Speaker 2: The first week. I was like, what the f It's
- 47:07Speaker 2: just like, come get our sausages.
- 47:09Speaker 4: It's like, oh no, did you know him.
- 47:13Speaker 3: A hot dog putting ketchup and mustard on himself?
- 47:16Speaker 7: What that is? Weiry?
- 47:17Speaker 4: Hard?
- 47:17Speaker 3: No?
- 47:18Speaker 5: No, yes, yes that is yeh.
- 47:23Speaker 4: We're excited. We're going to talk about fat discrimination on
- 47:26Speaker 4: the next episode. I'm so excited because I was a
- 47:29Speaker 4: former fact kid and I was treated viciously growing up.
- 47:33Speaker 4: And you know, whatever your like body journey is, is
- 47:35Speaker 4: your own journey.
- 47:36Speaker 5: And I had weight loss surgery about eleven years ago now,
- 47:40Speaker 5: and I will tell you It's been really interesting about
- 47:43Speaker 5: that journey. Is the world is not kind of fat people,
- 47:47Speaker 5: not at all. And I can't tell you I could
- 47:52Speaker 5: feel the difference in the way that I was cheated,
- 47:54Speaker 5: even by strangers, right, people look you, and the people would.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Look me in the eye. Now people were on the
- 47:59Speaker 3: street sort of kinder to me.
- 48:02Speaker 5: The one thing I will say that I wish was
- 48:04Speaker 5: that there is a body positivity movement right now that
- 48:09Speaker 5: I wish that I would have been part of, because
- 48:11Speaker 5: I think a part of what was wrong with me
- 48:15Speaker 5: is that there was self loathing, yes, right, and really
- 48:18Speaker 5: feeling like I sort of didn't deserve to be treated better, yes,
- 48:21Speaker 5: which I feel bad for.
- 48:22Speaker 3: The person who I was for that reason.
- 48:25Speaker 2: Right, But it is amazing to see, especially young women
- 48:28Speaker 2: these days, not having any of.
- 48:30Speaker 5: It, and I love that for them so much. And
- 48:35Speaker 5: I'm I'm sorry that I missed out on that moment
- 48:40Speaker 5: because when I was like seventeen years old or twenty
- 48:42Speaker 5: years old or thirty years old, I needed it then, yeah,
- 48:45Speaker 5: you know.
- 48:45Speaker 2: And it felt like it would never change. I mean,
- 48:47Speaker 2: that was the kind of thing where it's like we
- 48:48Speaker 2: lived in a very Vogue magazine world, very singular the monoculture.
- 48:53Speaker 3: Cookies right, and dye culture was so fucked.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Up, so huge that it's like we would never have
- 48:57Speaker 2: that conversation about shells and cheese versus mac and cheese,
- 49:00Speaker 2: because what a pig? What are you saying? Like exactly
- 49:03Speaker 2: that whole culture. And I think that's the upside of
- 49:06Speaker 2: social media, where it's like everyone got on there and
- 49:08Speaker 2: then a bunch of people were like, Hey, how about
- 49:10Speaker 2: you don't say that, but you know what I mean,
- 49:12Speaker 2: how about you adjust that position and what you think totally.
- 49:15Speaker 4: And we're going to talk about like discrimination lawsuits around
- 49:18Speaker 4: fat people and how they're treated and like things that
- 49:21Speaker 4: have been litigated. So I think it'll be an interesting
- 49:23Speaker 4: kind of like entry into that, but we always end
- 49:26Speaker 4: up talking about like our personal experiences with these, so
- 49:30Speaker 4: I don't.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Know, it's amazing.
- 49:31Speaker 3: It hits home.
- 49:32Speaker 4: Yeah, for a lot of people, like everyone, even if
- 49:35Speaker 4: you didn't like live that experience, you know someone or
- 49:38Speaker 4: you had a family member who was always treated differently,
- 49:40Speaker 4: or you always heard like someone's side from Mark after Yeah.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Yeah, what I love about this is like the legal
- 49:45Speaker 1: side of things. I feel like I'm not part of
- 49:48Speaker 1: that and I'm not there, like I can't be part
- 49:50Speaker 1: of that conversation because I don't know legal terms at all,
- 49:54Speaker 1: but but I love that you guys make.
- 49:58Speaker 2: It PU now yeah, yeah, you know you may. I mean,
- 50:02Speaker 2: this conversation is very similar to the podcast and that
- 50:06Speaker 2: it's got your central thing you go there, but you also,
- 50:09Speaker 2: like friends just kind of talk through things, discover things.
- 50:13Speaker 4: Yeah, we were talking about like looted art and like
- 50:16Speaker 4: stolen art and then the Louver robbery.
- 50:19Speaker 3: Were like somebody got arrested.
- 50:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I got So we're I mean, we're recording every week.
- 50:25Speaker 4: It'll be a very topical episode. I think we record
- 50:27Speaker 4: a couple it comes out a couple of days after,
- 50:29Speaker 4: so we will be covering headlines like what's really happening,
- 50:32Speaker 4: and I'll dive into like the law behind it. But
- 50:34Speaker 4: like I'm not a Supreme Court litigator, like I am.
- 50:36Speaker 4: I am at the local courthouse with your drug dealer,
- 50:40Speaker 4: with the person who was drinking and driving, like I
- 50:44Speaker 4: am there with like the local public defenders and the
- 50:47Speaker 4: local prosecutors. This is not going to be like an
- 50:50Speaker 4: esoteric legal podcast where we're pontificating on like the latest
- 50:53Speaker 4: Supreme No.
- 50:54Speaker 5: But I mean, I think the point is to sort
- 50:56Speaker 5: of like give some information and also make people laugh
- 51:00Speaker 5: and made people sort of recon like, oh, you know what,
- 51:02Speaker 5: I'm going to think about that, and maybe I've heard
- 51:06Speaker 5: this thing from Melissa and Michael's podcast, and I'm going
- 51:08Speaker 5: to look and do a deeper dive.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Right, I contextualize it too, right, like what do you
- 51:12Speaker 4: do if you get pulled over? Okay, we're going to
- 51:14Speaker 4: do this like twice, once for white people and once
- 51:16Speaker 4: for black people. The things that happened to the two
- 51:18Speaker 4: of us when we get pulled over are very different,
- 51:20Speaker 4: very different. Yeah, And I've started giving legal advice in
- 51:24Speaker 4: my practice to migrants based off of their appearance, based
- 51:28Speaker 4: off how brown they may appear, which is it's always
- 51:31Speaker 4: kind of been like that. I mean, criminal defense attorneys
- 51:33Speaker 4: and immigration attorneys, we've always had to sort of think about, like, Okay,
- 51:37Speaker 4: this client is from Sweden. It's going to be a
- 51:39Speaker 4: little bit different. Maybe we do this thing a little
- 51:41Speaker 4: bit differently, or do something over here. But now it
- 51:44Speaker 4: is quite explicit. It was always like inferred, and I
- 51:48Speaker 4: think especially defense attorneys were always acutely aware of like
- 51:52Speaker 4: racial injustice and the justice system. But now it is
- 51:56Speaker 4: so explicit. The quiet parts being said out loud, full chest.
- 52:01Speaker 4: So it's been a really interesting time to start up
- 52:05Speaker 4: because the first episode I was like, what the fuck
- 52:08Speaker 4: are we going to cover? I mean, there's so many
- 52:12Speaker 4: We've got too many things.
- 52:13Speaker 3: There are so many things, so much but we.
- 52:16Speaker 4: Will be We'll be in the studio every week talking
- 52:18Speaker 4: about it. And I always say I'm flying around New
- 52:20Speaker 4: York City on my broomstick. I bike everywhere. I bike
- 52:22Speaker 4: up and down Second Avenue to the courthouse, and then
- 52:25Speaker 4: I come after after court wraps at like five o'clock.
- 52:29Speaker 4: I wear up on my bike with.
- 52:31Speaker 3: A helmets, wear a helmet safety first.
- 52:34Speaker 4: My dad taught me that I fly up to the
- 52:37Speaker 4: studio after uh trial wraps.
- 52:41Speaker 3: Yeah, let's do should we do one more pick aside?
- 52:44Speaker 4: And then we'll do a pick aside for them.
- 52:48Speaker 2: But it'll be all constitutional law and we.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Don't know.
- 52:53Speaker 1: We told you we're sweating. Okay, should be on? Yeah, okay,
- 52:57Speaker 1: this has solved my disagreement. Do you shower after?
- 52:59Speaker 3: How having a bath?
- 53:01Speaker 1: Hello MFM family, love you all. Recently, I had a
- 53:03Speaker 1: disagreement with my fiance. At the time, I was so
- 53:06Speaker 1: sure I was in the right that I pulled my
- 53:08Speaker 1: friends and family to find out it was more of
- 53:10Speaker 1: a divisive, divisive, divisive topic than I.
- 53:13Speaker 4: Don't know if it's divisive because I said one on
- 53:16Speaker 4: TikTok and everyone fucking came from it. They were like,
- 53:19Speaker 4: this discussive man doesn't know how to pronounce that they
- 53:22Speaker 4: came from the People just started calling my phone after that.
- 53:30Speaker 4: It could be that or the swifties.
- 53:33Speaker 3: So easily triggered everyone's divisive about it.
- 53:37Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 53:38Speaker 3: I still don't know data so much.
- 53:40Speaker 2: I know what.
- 53:43Speaker 3: Everyone off.
- 53:44Speaker 1: When you have a bath, do you shower afterwards? My
- 53:47Speaker 1: view is that you do all that relaxing, that showering
- 53:50Speaker 1: afterwards would just undo the relaxing. The bath also cleans you.
- 53:54Speaker 1: That's how people have been cleaning themselves for centuries. My
- 53:57Speaker 1: fiance says that you need to wash off the SuDS if,
- 53:59Speaker 1: for example, it was a bubble bath. What other people
- 54:01Speaker 1: have said is that that you are lying in your
- 54:03Speaker 1: own dirt. That's what I think to what I have
- 54:09Speaker 1: realized that my information gathering is that most people who
- 54:11Speaker 1: are British where we live and where my family is
- 54:14Speaker 1: agree with me. But my fiance, who is Polish and
- 54:17Speaker 1: a lot of other my friends who are from other countries,
- 54:20Speaker 1: they have another opinion. I haven't asked any Americans yet. Yeah,
- 54:23Speaker 1: please help all the different Thank you, Laudian.
- 54:25Speaker 4: I'm sorry we're not taking any advice from England, like hygiene.
- 54:29Speaker 4: I'm sorry to have any British. Sorry, all of us
- 54:33Speaker 4: around the table have fierce teeth we're looking at. So
- 54:36Speaker 4: we're not going to England for any how, we're gonna.
- 54:39Speaker 4: I've been there, I've lived there. It is Why are
- 54:43Speaker 4: first swall in England? The two faucet's hot and cold
- 54:45Speaker 4: about a mile apart, and sink why I'm getting I'm
- 54:50Speaker 4: changing time zones to get warm water. This is absurd that.
- 54:53Speaker 3: The war's over. Guys getting together around the.
- 54:55Speaker 4: World for three hundred years. That was absolutely force, Yes,
- 55:00Speaker 4: but like anyway, so that that was the first thing
- 55:04Speaker 4: I heard, and the second thing I heard was for
- 55:06Speaker 4: centuries people am a bathing like this. I don't think
- 55:09Speaker 4: it's been documented that they were bathing particularly well.
- 55:13Speaker 3: They used to.
- 55:15Speaker 5: Be.
- 55:17Speaker 4: Yeah, so that's so.
- 55:20Speaker 3: Lain and simple.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Let's do the most updated version instead of looking back
- 55:24Speaker 2: to our.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Ancestors what they have wanted to do, probably get the
- 55:30Speaker 1: I wish.
- 55:30Speaker 4: I could get the film off are all post baths
- 55:33Speaker 4: shower not?
- 55:35Speaker 1: You are not not so after a bath you just
- 55:38Speaker 1: get out later, lean to myself, but.
- 55:41Speaker 3: You've been No, no, I'm not dirty though.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Like I married my husband and he was like, what
- 55:46Speaker 1: are you doing? I was like, why are you getting
- 55:47Speaker 1: the shower? Like what a fucking wake a call after
- 55:49Speaker 1: this relaxing thing. I mean, I'm not that dirty to
- 55:52Speaker 1: begin with.
- 55:53Speaker 4: Again, what you're taking a bath?
- 55:54Speaker 2: It's like I wanted to tell you, nos, always just
- 56:01Speaker 2: had a little bath, right, just a little? Are you?
- 56:06Speaker 5: Are we thinking that the bath is for cleaning or
- 56:09Speaker 5: relaxing both?
- 56:11Speaker 3: I think both, Okay.
- 56:12Speaker 4: I think that sometimes the bath bombs are like so
- 56:15Speaker 4: strongly scented. I worked a lush in two thousand and
- 56:18Speaker 4: nine as a holiday higher before law school. I had
- 56:21Speaker 4: to make money while I was setting for the l sets.
- 56:23Speaker 4: I had four jobs. Was one wow, and my laundry
- 56:28Speaker 4: smelled fucking wicked after the end of the day. You
- 56:31Speaker 4: those bathrooms smelled crazy.
- 56:32Speaker 3: I was asking for U t I not to fucking
- 56:35Speaker 3: one for sure.
- 56:36Speaker 2: Yes, but as someone with very thick hair, I can't
- 56:40Speaker 2: wash my hair in a bathroom. No, no, no, So so you're.
- 56:46Speaker 1: Maybe like a face mask. Okay, some magnesium.
- 56:50Speaker 4: Magimum salim drives my skin out a little bit. Yeah,
- 56:54Speaker 4: but then I have.
- 56:55Speaker 3: To take you so you're adding something else, Like yeah,
- 56:57Speaker 3: I definitely feel like the bath. The bath for me
- 57:01Speaker 3: is relaxing, not cleansing.
- 57:03Speaker 4: But showers aren't. Don't wake me up showers, I'm like
- 57:05Speaker 4: still going to sleep.
- 57:06Speaker 3: The shower and the bathtub have to be separate.
- 57:09Speaker 4: I will, oh, you won't do a shower, Okay, Mims
- 57:11Speaker 4: div has never lived in New York.
- 57:14Speaker 3: Always, Yeah, I've lived.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I've lived in apartments and I haven't taken it.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Didn't take baths for my years.
- 57:20Speaker 4: They fell in the tup. This is like, oh my gosh,
- 57:23Speaker 4: I'm crazy. And I think I called you because why
- 57:25Speaker 4: would I call my husband? And I called Melissa And
- 57:29Speaker 4: this is these are the friends we are. When your
- 57:30Speaker 4: cat died, you called me and not her husband Andre
- 57:33Speaker 4: like this is how this is how emotionally dependently? Yeah,
- 57:38Speaker 4: really were They were like can you come help deadlift
- 57:42Speaker 4: this ninety year old man out of the tub. My
- 57:44Speaker 4: neighbor came and got me and I'm like, you know,
- 57:46Speaker 4: I'm there. I'm like I'm ready, and I go down
- 57:49Speaker 4: hard cut to me trying to live this man out
- 57:52Speaker 4: of the dub it was and I was like, was
- 57:55Speaker 4: he alive? I was like, he needs medical assistances.
- 57:57Speaker 2: I have to call it.
- 57:58Speaker 4: They didn't want him to go to a hospital. They
- 58:00Speaker 4: were like he might get an infection. Oh my god.
- 58:02Speaker 4: And I was like, this is this is beyond my
- 58:05Speaker 4: capabilities at this point. This is as a neighbor, this
- 58:08Speaker 4: is like yes, right yeah. And I went back forty
- 58:11Speaker 4: minutes ago by the police came. I'm talking to the police,
- 58:13Speaker 4: were doing a translator situation. I go back upstairs. My
- 58:17Speaker 4: husband's still watching TV. He's like, where were you? I
- 58:21Speaker 4: was like, sorry, what were where were you?
- 58:27Speaker 7: Help?
- 58:27Speaker 2: You enjoyed Dancing with the Star watching TV.
- 58:31Speaker 4: Slide on Dancing with the Stars. What the what if
- 58:34Speaker 4: my drag downstairs covered in blood?
- 58:37Speaker 1: Wait?
- 58:37Speaker 3: But also like if you helped him and he got
- 58:39Speaker 3: hurt from it, he could sue you.
- 58:40Speaker 4: Oh right sure yeah, And that was my thought as
- 58:43Speaker 4: a naked octogenarian was laying over my shoulder bleeding on me.
- 58:48Speaker 4: I was like, this is a head trauma situation. This
- 58:52Speaker 4: is really something that we need medical assistance.
- 58:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you got to know when it's beyond your powers.
- 58:59Speaker 4: Anyway, we moved and I don't talk to my neighbors anything.
- 59:03Speaker 4: I don't talk to and I've lived there for years
- 59:06Speaker 4: in my new apartment, and people come, they see me
- 59:08Speaker 4: come off the elevator, and.
- 59:09Speaker 2: It's they want to talk to you so bad because
- 59:13Speaker 2: they're like, I saw you on TikTok, my TikTok neighbor.
- 59:18Speaker 4: I don't want to be that guy who has to
- 59:19Speaker 4: come pick your grandpa up out it. I can't do it. Yeah,
- 59:23Speaker 4: that's too much.
- 59:24Speaker 2: I feel like this could go on for I don't
- 59:27Speaker 2: want to stop it, but I think we have to.
- 59:29Speaker 2: But we just need to tell you, guys, we are
- 59:32Speaker 2: so thrilled that you are on this network with us.

- 1:00:11Speaker 4: They're just calling myself. You really did I.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Thought you were joking about they doxed you.
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: But I get doxed all the time. Yeah, okay, okay.
