- 0:13Sex and culture. I wouldn't normally start a
- 0:16podcast off with this phrase, but well, I've been doing some
- 0:22research into JD Unwin. Now this was all brought about
- 0:26because I kept hearing references by by a lot of other
- 0:32people on social media to how we will see the collapse of society
- 0:38after well, basically after you see sexual morality start to
- 0:43decline in society, allow, you know, allow sexual depravity to
- 0:50just go unchecked, well then eventually we will.
- 0:53We will see the decline in that civilization itself ends.
- 1:00So in in people have been referring to how this is what
- 1:03had happened in the the Roman Empire with the Greeks, other
- 1:10other civilizations. And I've been reading about JD
- 1:14Unwin. So JD Unwin had released a book
- 1:17in the 1930s called Sex and Culture.
- 1:22And I've been, but I've done so many.
- 1:24I've tried to record this episode so many times, but it's
- 1:30such a big topic. And JD Young, When's book is so
- 1:34complex, so big, and trying to summarise it is very near
- 1:39impossible for a podcast. Basically what I can take out of
- 1:45it all. And after reading some of the
- 1:48book, after reading the excerpts from that and also a study, a
- 1:53study that was done by a philosophy student named Kirk
- 1:57Durston who has written a very, a very, a very in depth blog
- 2:05about about this book, sex and culture.
- 2:11You'd have to come to the conclusion that what JD Young
- 2:15Ones research has included is absolutely correct.
- 2:20So he he done a research into I think his 86 different cultures
- 2:25throughout throughout the history of this world and come
- 2:29to the same conclusion that every time the same monotonous
- 2:32repetition is is occurring. Basically, these cultures all
- 2:37reach a pinnacle. They'll all have some kind of
- 2:40sexual revolution and then within 3 generations they will
- 2:43see the collapse of their culture and they'll be, you
- 2:49know, either completely decayed collapse from within.
- 2:52They'll be taken over by another culture, another more energetic
- 2:56culture. Just amazing to read to see the
- 3:01evidence that that he puts forward to to explain what's
- 3:08going on now considering that he wrote released this book in
- 3:121930. So 30-40 years before our own
- 3:18sexual revolution, which started to occur in the late 1960s.
- 3:23Thank you all you hippies from the 60s.
- 3:28Sorry. And then there's another book
- 3:31that came out, Mary Eberstadt's Primal Screams, How the Sexual
- 3:36Revolution Created Identity Politics.
- 3:41Reading about these two books together and what the
- 3:44conclusions that they've come to you, you said they're going
- 3:47well, you have to come to the conclusion that the sexual
- 3:53revolution of the 60s and 70s started in the 60s, went through
- 3:5860s, seventies 80s I suppose marked the decline of our modern
- 4:04Western culture. So I'm just going to read a
- 4:07little bit about what of what Kirk Durston has written and
- 4:12it's far too complex to go through everything the the
- 4:15Complete Blog that he's Done or try and summarise these books
- 4:19from Unwin in From Estates. But if you think that the 1960s,
- 4:27just like what Unwin said from the late 60s when we had this
- 4:30sexual revolution, from then on we can say OK, we can start
- 4:34seeing the decline of our civilization and this will last
- 4:38about 3 generations. I just want to read a little bit
- 4:42more about what what dustins would up regarding what Mary
- 4:48Eberstadt has said. So it Miri abstatt.
- 4:54Recent research into mass killings, the substantial rise
- 4:58in mental health issues including depression and the
- 5:01explosion of identity politics is a Primal Scream due to the
- 5:07loss of identity that was once provided by growing up in the
- 5:10long term immediate family with siblings and a sizable group of
- 5:14cousins, aunts and uncles, all of which provided identity
- 5:21essentially for well being. Eberstadt shows and documents
- 5:26from various studies that this decimal decimation of the family
- 5:31was a direct consequence of the sexual revolution at the end of
- 5:36the 20th century. Her research indicates that
- 5:43increased sexual freedom led to the decimation of the family,
- 5:49which resulted in the loss of family identity, which produces
- 5:53Eber Stats, primal screens, a massive increase in mental
- 5:57health issues. They're not today.
- 6:01Mass killings. And what do we see?
- 6:04That and the rise of extreme identity groups at war with each
- 6:10other, all symptoms of a society rapidly spiralling into
- 6:15collapse. Which all this seems to go and
- 6:19support. Unwin's book, which was written
- 6:21in the 1930s saying, hey, when we see societies have, you know,
- 6:27a sexual revolution, you can give them basically 3
- 6:30generations and you'll see the total collapse of that
- 6:33civilization. Perhaps this appears to have
- 6:36greater explanatory power than Unwins psychological suggestion,
- 6:42although the two may actually be closely related, given whatever
- 6:47Stat shows. Both Unwin JD Unwin in his book
- 6:51Sex and Culture and Eberstadt provide substantial evidence
- 6:56that a sexual revolution has long term devastating
- 7:01consequences for culture and civilisation.
- 7:05As Unwin states, the history of these societies consists of a
- 7:09series of monotonous repetitions.
- 7:11Remember he studied 86 different cultures and how they collapsed
- 7:15and appears anti disappears that our civilization is following
- 7:20the same well travelled Rd to collapse.
- 7:25And then to summarise a little bit more of what JD Unwin said,
- 7:31basically saying that a loosening of sexual constraints
- 7:35probably does not occur in one year or even 1 decade.
- 7:40In our case one could argue that the sexual revolution began in
- 7:43the late 1960s, lasted throughout the 70s and possibly
- 7:47into the 80s. According to Unwin, only small
- 7:50changes in a culture occur in the first generation due to the
- 7:54cultural momentum of the previous generations, which
- 7:58still continues to be a heavy influence in the generation.
- 8:01After the loosening or strengthening of sexual
- 8:05restraints, the changes become more prevalent in the second
- 8:10generation, which is where I think we are at today.
- 8:13But it is not until the 3rd generation, after the initial
- 8:17generation has completely died off, that the changes reach
- 8:21their full effect, occurring rapidly over the course of that
- 8:25third generation. By the end of the third
- 8:28generation, which I think we're about to, we're hitting that
- 8:32tipping point. We're about to go into the third
- 8:34generation. By the end of the third
- 8:35generation, the changes have fully taken place and the
- 8:40culture stabilises. That's at its new level.
- 8:43However, if it has stabilised at the highest level, then the
- 8:46flourishing of that culture continues to increase in
- 8:49subsequent generations. Though Unwin observes that no
- 8:53culture maintains that state very long.
- 8:56However, if it has stabilised at the lowest level, in other words
- 9:02if it has collapsed, which is what I think is happening now,
- 9:06then that culture is destroyed from within, or conquered or
- 9:11taken over by the more energetic culture destroyed from within.
- 9:21So it's going to read the the last section of this blog, which
- 9:25is going back to the philosophical thoughts that this
- 9:27writer, Kirk Durston, had written, saying that for years
- 9:34it has been my thinking that God's moral laws are not simply
- 9:39a bunch of arbitrary rules given to restrict mankind's freedom.
- 9:45Instead, they are like operating instructions designed to spare
- 9:50people from suffering while maximising human flourishing
- 9:54unwinds. And Herbie Stats research
- 9:57provides strong rational justification for the inference
- 10:02that God's moral laws pertaining to our sexuality, although they
- 10:08may restrain us from some immediate pleasure, protect us
- 10:13from enormous long term suffering while maximising our
- 10:17long term flourishing. Look, reading these studies,
- 10:29reading the summary of these studies about from Unwin and
- 10:32Eberstadt, the sexual revolution and also the feminist movement,
- 10:38I think from the 60s and 70s, eighties, wherever it has
- 10:43devastated as a society our culture and we can see the
- 10:49degradation of our civilization and how it is being eaten from
- 10:55within. We see reasoning completely
- 10:59going out the door, a culture that it doesn't just deny God,
- 11:05it just doesn't even have anything to do with God because
- 11:08it just doesn't have time to even consider that there is
- 11:11possibly a God, just completely non religious there.
- 11:20There's just it's it's not even about being A and an atheist,
- 11:26because they haven't even put in enough thought to being an
- 11:30atheist. I mean.
- 11:32I mean, I mean, an atheist at least considers both arguments
- 11:38and considers God and considers things has, you know, thought a
- 11:43thought process. And modern generation now
- 11:45doesn't even doesn't consider anything.
- 11:47They're just too worried about themselves, too self-centered,
- 11:54which is the conclusion that I would Unwin comes to one of the
- 12:02one of the states of societies that just.
- 12:05I think it's the soloist, Zoest culture, this culture that just
- 12:11just that just looks within that just cares about themselves,
- 12:14that don't don't care about anyone else.
- 12:19All they care about is themselves.
- 12:22We're going back towards that. Anyway.
- 12:26Look, I this subject is it's far too far too big to talk about in
- 12:31in a podcast, so I think I'm gonna have to try and find
- 12:34someone. Actually I want to try and get
- 12:38get a hold of this Kirk Durston and get them to talk and see if
- 12:41they'll come on the programme and talk about it.
- 12:42But I would encourage you to read read.
- 12:47If you can't read the books themselves, read the studies
- 12:50that have been done about from Eberstadt and from Anwan and you
- 12:58can see it's blatantly obvious, blatantly obvious where our
- 13:05society is going and how the sexual revolution and the
- 13:12feminist movement did nothing to help S society and modern day
- 13:17culture. They have actually been the
- 13:20start of the destruction of our modern day culture in there, and
- 13:29as King Solomon said, there is nothing new under the sun.
- 13:44And as this radius is that God's moral laws pertaining to our
- 13:49sexual sexuality, although they might restrain us from some
- 13:54immediate pleasure, ultimately they've been put in place to
- 13:58protect us from enormous long term suffering while maximising
- 14:03our long-term flourishing. Anyway, I'd encourage you to
- 14:10look it up for yourself. I'll put the links in there for
- 14:13you to check it out for yourself.
- 14:16It's my opinion. I'm Jay Fallon.
- 14:18Thanks for listening to the Slippery slope.
