- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities CE OS and even royalty Adam Cox, these
- 0:21recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's world
- 0:24famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:38Hi, it's Adam here. And this is a slightly different
- 0:42hypnosis session in the basis that it actually.
- 0:46Deals with the. Counter intuitive nature.
- 0:50Of. Hypnosis because sometimes
- 0:53people can become attached to the very thing that they don't
- 0:57like. Maybe they had a horrible trauma
- 1:00or something bad happened in their childhood, but they still
- 1:03think about that a lot. Or maybe part of their identity
- 1:07is based on what someone said or did in the past.
- 1:11Or maybe there has been something that's happened and
- 1:14they're living with that, but they're still emotionally
- 1:17attached to that thing. So this hypnosis session is
- 1:20based on the idea of what? Resists.
- 1:22Persists. And it utilizes a branch of
- 1:26third wave behavioral therapies called Acceptance and Commitment
- 1:29therapy. And a wonderful metaphor.
- 1:32I don't think it's in this hypnosis session, but it's a
- 1:34good metaphor to explain that. Imagine if you have a beach ball
- 1:39and you're trying to keep it. Below the surface.
- 1:42Of a swimming pool, it takes a lot of effort to keep the beach
- 1:47ball. Submerged and.
- 1:49Actually, if the beach ball just existed and was floating around
- 1:51the pool, but you were having fun swimming around the pool,
- 1:55actually the fact that there's a beach ball in there is less
- 1:58important to you than if you have to use all of your energy
- 2:02to keep it under the water. Because if you do that, you
- 2:04can't swim as well. And I think a lot of people,
- 2:07whether it's trauma and certain memories and certain beliefs,
- 2:10they're too attached to it. So the essence of this one is
- 2:14about detachment and having a different way of thinking, which
- 2:18is about just kind of allowing things to be as they be and then
- 2:22allowing the natural evolution and the resources that flow from
- 2:26that. It was created for an
- 2:28individual. And therefore some of the
- 2:29suggestions are going to be perfect for them and not quite
- 2:32right for you. So if you like the idea of a
- 2:34bespoke session, there's a couple of things I would
- 2:36recommend. There is a suitability test that
- 2:39takes 60 seconds to do, and you'll find out how likely
- 2:42hypnosis is to work for you. But I've also recorded a webinar
- 2:46that helps to explain what hypno hypnotherapy works with, what
- 2:51it's good for, what it's not quite so good for.
- 2:53There's some suggestibility tests within that webinar and
- 2:56there's some very special bonuses at the end for anyone
- 2:59that gets to the end of that webinar.
- 3:00So check that out. It's in the description if
- 3:02that's of interest. For now though, find a quiet,
- 3:05comfortable place where you won't be distracted or
- 3:07disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 3:12Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 3:24resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 3:33And as you exhale, feel a wonderful sense of release that
- 3:41any worries, stress and tension are slowly, surely, and
- 3:50incrementally leaving your body in that outward breath.
- 4:04And here, in this place of ever deepening relaxation, there is
- 4:13no hurry, no urgency. This time belongs entirely to
- 4:20you. The deeper you breathe, the more
- 4:25relaxed you feel. And the more relaxed you feel,
- 4:30the deeper you breathe. As your body relaxes, your
- 4:34imagination awakens. And I'd like you to imagine a
- 4:40river. A real river.
- 4:48A broad, mature river that has been flowing for a very long
- 4:53time. A river that's carved its own
- 4:58course through the landscape, unhurried, powerful, entirely
- 5:05itself. And this river has been flowing
- 5:12since long before you arrived at its bank.
- 5:17And this river will continue long after.
- 5:21And there is something about its presence, its constancy, the way
- 5:30the water moves without effort, without resistance, without
- 5:37argument about the shape of the ground beneath it.
- 5:45And this river invites a particular quality of stillness
- 5:51in the person who sits beside it.
- 5:56I wonder if you could imagine yourself at the river's edge
- 5:59now, maybe seated on a warm stone or soft grass where the
- 6:07bank slopes gently to the water. Perhaps you could imagine the
- 6:13sound of the current, not intrusive, just present,
- 6:20rhythmic, reliable. And as you settle into that
- 6:28place, notice how the body begins to do what it knows how
- 6:34to do when given permission. The breath slowing to match the
- 6:44rhythm of the water, the shoulders dropping, the jaw
- 6:50releasing fingers, toes just all relaxing, the face softening.
- 7:00And every year of your life has given you a body that knows how
- 7:05to rest when the conditions are right.
- 7:09A mind that knows how to release when it's safe to do so.
- 7:15And right now, here at the river's edge, all the conditions
- 7:21are right. Feel that as you stare into the
- 7:29current of the river, you're drifting deeper and deeper.
- 7:38And here you are at the river, at rest and ready for a
- 7:46conversation with the very deepest part of yourself.
- 7:54And as you watch the river for a moment, I want you to notice how
- 8:00it moves around the stones in its path.
- 8:04It does not stop to argue with them.
- 8:08It doesn't organize a campaign against them.
- 8:13It does not waste energy resenting their presence or
- 8:18wishing that the riverbed were different.
- 8:23It simply flows around and in, flowing around, it arrives
- 8:31further along, closer to the sea, having lost nothing of
- 8:37itself in the encounter, having spent none of its energy on that
- 8:44which cannot be changed. The world has changed, it
- 8:52continues to change, and it will keep changing in ways that
- 8:58cannot be predicted, cannot be controlled, cannot be reversed.
- 9:05So all of that energy spent resisting would be wasted.
- 9:11And you already know this. You have always known this at a
- 9:17level deeper than previously thought.
- 9:24What resists persists. And this is not poetic
- 9:29observation, it's a description of how energy actually works.
- 9:37When attention is directed against something, that
- 9:42something is fed, enlarged, kept alive and present there in the
- 9:49nervous system, where focus goes, energy flows.
- 9:57Why focus on that which cannot be changed?
- 10:04That is not beneficial. The very act of resistance makes
- 10:11the thing being resisted more real and more consuming.
- 10:17And acceptance, true acceptance is not resignation, it's not
- 10:26defeat, and it isn't the lowering standards or
- 10:31abandonment of values. It is something altogether more
- 10:36sophisticated than any of those things.
- 10:43What if acceptance is the decision to stop spending energy
- 10:48on that which cannot be changed, and to redirect that energy
- 10:54toward what can, like the river choosing to flow around the
- 11:00stone rather than spending its force on impact?
- 11:06And in that choice, it travels further with less effort, and
- 11:14arrive somewhere worth arriving. The world as it is, is the
- 11:24riverbed you have been given. Perhaps not one that you would
- 11:31have designed, and perhaps not the same riverbed that you
- 11:36remember, but the actual one, the one that exists right now
- 11:43beneath your feet. And your river flows most
- 11:48powerfully when it works with what is actually there.
- 11:56Give yourself permission to accept the world as it is, not
- 12:01because you approve of everything in it, but because
- 12:05acceptance frees the energy you need for everything that truly
- 12:11matters. And notice what happens in the
- 12:18body. As that acceptance deepens, some
- 12:24part of the tension that has been maintained by resistance
- 12:30begins to release. Not all at once, but genuinely,
- 12:37as if a grip is loosening that had been held for longer than
- 12:41necessary. The stress dissolves, the
- 12:47frustration finds less to attach to.
- 12:51The anger loses its fuel. Not because the world has
- 12:57improved, but because you have stopped arguing with its reality
- 13:05and the energy that was locked in.
- 13:08That argument is yours again, free, available for what you
- 13:17choose to direct it toward. There is a philosophy that some
- 13:26find uncomfortable and others find liberating, and those who
- 13:33find it liberating tend to be people of a certain depth of
- 13:38character, people who have lived long enough to know that comfort
- 13:45and growth rarely occupy the same space at the same time.
- 13:55The philosophy is this. You are 100% responsible for
- 14:01your life, not for what has happened to you, not for the
- 14:08behaviors of others, not for the conditions of the world, but for
- 14:14how you respond or meet all of those things, what you do with
- 14:21what you have been given, where you direct the extraordinary
- 14:27resource of your attention and your energy.
- 14:34And the reason this is liberating rather than
- 14:37burdensome is that responsibility and power are the
- 14:43same thing, measured differently.
- 14:48To be responsible for your life is to be in possession of your
- 14:54life, to be the author rather than the subject of the story,
- 15:02the navigator rather than the passenger.
- 15:08With great power comes great responsibility, and the reverse
- 15:14is equally true. With great responsibility comes
- 15:19great power. The willingness to own your
- 15:24experience completely is the act that places the controls in your
- 15:31hands. And your life of living has not
- 15:38diminished this power, it's deepened it.
- 15:43The wisdom accumulated across that span, the pattern
- 15:49recognition that only comes from experience, the perspective that
- 15:55only arrives when you have seen enough of life to know which
- 16:00things are actually important. These are forms of power that
- 16:10grow with time, not shrink with it.
- 16:16You are 100% responsible for how you meet your life, and from
- 16:27this place of complete responsibility, just notice the
- 16:33quality of the freedom it generates.
- 16:37You're not waiting for the world to improve before you improve.
- 16:44You are not waiting for permission to be well, to be
- 16:48purposeful, to be engaged, to be useful to those around you.
- 16:56You're not seeking permission from anyone.
- 17:00The permission was always yours to give yourself.
- 17:05So now give it fully, without reservation, without the need
- 17:12for anyone else's approval or acknowledgement.
- 17:19Progress, not perfection. This is the standard of the
- 17:27genuinely responsible person. Not the paralyzing demand of
- 17:34perfect execution, but the honest, daily, imperfect real
- 17:41movement in a direction that matters. 80% done and moving
- 17:48forward is worth 10 times more than 100% planned and waiting
- 17:58and hesitating for the right conditions.
- 18:04There is something that a life well lived accumulates that has
- 18:10no name in economics or finance. There's a kind of moral and
- 18:17experiential wealth, the understanding that comes from
- 18:23having been through enough to know what it feels like on the
- 18:28other side of difficulty and adversity.
- 18:33The compassion that grows, not shrinks, with the depth of what
- 18:38one has survived and understood. Your compassion is not
- 18:45sentiment. It's not pity.
- 18:49It's not the comfortable gesture of someone who has never known
- 18:54hardship. It is the hard one,
- 18:58understanding of someone who knows what it is to need help,
- 19:04to be uncertain, to be less resourced or less capable than
- 19:09the situation seems to demand. But what if this understanding
- 19:15is a form of power? Not power over others, but power
- 19:21for others. The capacity to see someone in
- 19:27difficulty and to know without condescension how to move toward
- 19:33them in a way that actually helps, that actually meets them
- 19:39where they are rather than where it would be convenient for them
- 19:44to be. Because your body is the vessel
- 19:52for your soul's journey. Consider for a moment the extra
- 19:58extraordinary fact of the body you inhabit.
- 20:04It's carried you through, through illness and recovery,
- 20:09through exertion and rest, through grief.
- 20:14And celebration through cold and warmth, through every season and
- 20:21climate of a full human life and its body, is not a convenience.
- 20:29It is a gift, the specific, irreplaceable instrument through
- 20:35which your particular consciousness experiences this
- 20:40particular life, the vessel without which the journey has no
- 20:45vehicle, and it deserves to be treated accordingly.
- 20:50And what you choose to give this vessel, what you choose to put
- 21:00into it, what you choose to subject it to or spare it from,
- 21:07is one of the most consequential decisions available to you.
- 21:13Your body is the vessel for your soul's journey, and what you
- 21:18give it is a statement of how much you value the journey, so
- 21:25you choose accordingly. Health matters more than any
- 21:34processed thing can taste, and your unconscious can lock this
- 21:41as an automatic intuitive truth that shapes choices before
- 21:48conscious deliberation is even required.
- 21:53The reach for something nourishing becomes as natural as
- 21:57the reach for breath. Not a discipline imposed from
- 22:01outside, but a preference that arises from inside, from a self
- 22:08that genuinely values what it is tending.
- 22:15And while you sleep tonight and every night, your unconscious is
- 22:26actively engaged in the work of repair, of processing, of
- 22:32restoration. Your sleep is not passive
- 22:37absence. It's the body's most productive
- 22:41time, and trusting it, giving it the hours it needs, is one of
- 22:49the highest leverage health decisions available.
- 22:54Your body is your best friend, your mind is your best friend,
- 23:02and you nourish them both with what you eat, with what you
- 23:06think, and with the quality of rest you give them because they
- 23:12carry everything you value. I want you to get a sense that
- 23:24there is a pattern that runs through almost every domain of
- 23:28human life, the distribution of impact that keeps appearing
- 23:33regardless of the field. That 20% of actions produce 80%
- 23:41of results, 20% of relationships provide 80% of connection, 20%
- 23:51of decisions carry 80% of the weight of a life.
- 24:00And this Pareto principle is not a management technique, not a
- 24:07formula. It's a description of how value
- 24:13actually concentrates in the real world.
- 24:18And the person who has learned to navigate by it, who has
- 24:22developed the instinct to move towards the high leverage thing
- 24:31rather than the merely busy or convenient things, operates with
- 24:38the quality of efficiency that leverages time, energy and
- 24:47emotion. And that's what it is, the
- 24:53wisdom to know what matters most.
- 25:00No perfection required. So unlock your intuition's
- 25:06ability to gravitate towards those 20% of activities that
- 25:15enhance your health, well-being, quality of life.
- 25:24The very combination that activates, amplifies and
- 25:28enhances you at your truest self, giving you the ability to
- 25:38manage life's Rapids, to reset, recalibrate and to rest whenever
- 25:47necessary. And there you are, at the side
- 25:53of the river, feeling there is one more thing to do before
- 26:00returning to wash off the residue of your past.
- 26:06So imagine taking a swim in that river.
- 26:11Anything from your past, any emotions, any shame, blame,
- 26:17anger. Just allow it to be washed off
- 26:24and return to the riverbank clean, fresh, full of acceptance
- 26:31with an insatiable desire to do what matters most.
- 26:40It's time to return. So take a deep breath in through
- 26:42the nose and out through the nose and wiggle your fingers and
- 26:48wiggle your toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 26:51here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 26:57you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 27:03456 more alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 27:08Open your eyes 910. Wide awake.
- 27:13Wide awake. Wide awake.
- 27:24Thank you. So much for joining me on
