- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So let's talk about what happens if you have done something that
- 0:36you are looking at and you're saying, well, I'm not proud of
- 0:41myself for what I did there. First and foremost, let me be
- 0:45very clear about this. We all have traits that are not
- 0:47pretty. We all have traits that are not
- 0:49pretty. I myself am incredibly stubborn
- 0:52and I know that I will. I will stick with something
- 0:55sometimes way too long because I am so committed to saying no, I
- 1:01can get this done now. Has that served me well in my
- 1:04life? 1000%?
- 1:06It has put me in a position that I like, imagined, created.
- 1:11And I've gotten there because I am stubborn now.
- 1:15Have I always done it the easiest way possible?
- 1:17Hell no. Have I made it difficult along
- 1:20the way? Yeah, for sure.
- 1:23Part of that, I tend to believe, is just part of the process.
- 1:27It's just that's the way life goes, you know?
- 1:30I don't, I don't beat myself up anymore for having traits like
- 1:33being stubborn or like being committed to just finding every
- 1:40last answer I possibly can, grinding through it.
- 1:44As my husband says, sometimes he's like, you are just like
- 1:47sandpaper, sometimes you just don't quit.
- 1:49And I'm like, I know, but the finished process, a product is
- 1:54always so fantastic. But that is not something that
- 1:58I'm always proud of, because I realize now as I get older that
- 2:02I have to be able to morph and I have to be able to recognize
- 2:06that not all these traits that we possess are are worthy of
- 2:10every single thing that we get into doing with it.
- 2:13It's just it's just not, you know it's it's just not worthy
- 2:16of our time and effort to pour into it sometimes because it
- 2:19does hurt us. So if you think about it, if I'm
- 2:24just relentlessly asking questions to someone who doesn't
- 2:27want to have that done to them, am I am I helping or hurting?
- 2:31I'm clearly hurting. And should I back off?
- 2:33I should. But do I?
- 2:35Not always. Because I feel like, Oh no, I
- 2:38can do this. I can.
- 2:39I can help. I can.
- 2:40I can get in there. I can find out more, do more, be
- 2:42more, get bigger. And and before you know it,
- 2:45I've, I've created a wall between myself and whoever I'm
- 2:50talking to. So I have learned that that
- 2:53trait, while it can be beautiful, it can also be a
- 2:56major pain in the butt. And whatever those traits are
- 3:00that you possess, that you're not proud of, you should have a
- 3:04list of them. So, you know, you should really
- 3:07have a list of them. Now, on the opposite side, I
- 3:10have another one where it's like I tend to give too much.
- 3:12I tend to say I'll just keep giving.
- 3:14I'll just keep giving. I'll just keep helping.
- 3:16I'll just keep doing it because my heart feels like, yes, you
- 3:20should keep doing this. Yes, you should keep doing this.
- 3:22And sometimes, as a human being, you stop yourself and you go,
- 3:25wait, am I being taken advantage of now?
- 3:27Am I at the point now where I'm being taken advantage of?
- 3:29And the answer is maybe, maybe. But you have to know what these
- 3:34traits are to help yourself not get caught in a situation that's
- 3:38like that. Because if you don't know the
- 3:39trait exists and you're not aware of it, you can't help
- 3:43yourself with. It's like having termites in the
- 3:45house. You can't get rid of them if you
- 3:46don't know they're there. That's why it's so important to
- 3:48know if they're there. That's why you have the checks.
- 3:51That's why you look for things. So think of it like a like a a
- 3:58checks and balance list that you're doing for yourself right
- 4:00now. Think of this like an exercise
- 4:02of saying, okay. Well, if this is true, if what
- 4:05you're saying is true, then I I'm going to go in and make a
- 4:09list of the things that I'm not proud of.
- 4:11And that to me is one of the greatest things.
- 4:16The first step is saying I'm willing to take the inventory.
- 4:18I'm willing to take the list and know what's not working.
- 4:21It's the hardest exercise for a human to do is to say, OK, we
- 4:25can, we all want to be, you know, on the what's working.
- 4:29It's so hard. It doesn't matter if you're an
- 4:31individual, a group, a company. Every time I do this with
- 4:34people, they're like, it's hard to look at what's not working,
- 4:37but so super necessary. So when you do it, no, you're
- 4:40doing something that's hard and you should be proud of yourself
- 4:43for it and say OK, there, there will be middle of the road ones
- 4:47too. You'll have the ones that'll be
- 4:48like, OK, I'm not proud of this trait and this one I'm kind of
- 4:52ambivalent about. It's like sometimes it's OK,
- 4:54sometimes it's not. But when you understand what
- 4:59makes you up, when you go in and you do this kind of work and you
- 5:02figure out what makes you up as a person, the parts of you that
- 5:06are present and available, like who's driving the bus, the
- 5:10parts. And you can think of it this way
- 5:11too, that who you know, these are the drivers that you're not
- 5:15proud of when they drive. And for those of you who have
- 5:18not read the book, it's, I'm Speaking of my book, Who's
- 5:20driving your bus? It's available Kim Johnson on
- 5:24Amazon. This is not a plug for the book,
- 5:26though. This is just explaining these
- 5:27traits, these emotions, these characters, this, these cast of
- 5:32characters that live on the bus in your head.
- 5:34These are the ones that we're talking about.
- 5:36Some of these drivers are not always the most useful, but if
- 5:40you know they're there, you can help them and you don't have to
- 5:43be proud of everybody. Trust me, you don't.
- 5:46But you just don't want to use them all the time.
- 5:48So make sure you know who they are so that they don't impede
- 5:51your progress. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:54you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:56Bye.
