- 0:00Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:41Hi, it's Adam here. And in this hypnosis session,
- 0:44you're going to be listening to a hypnosis that is all about
- 0:48intrusive thoughts, particularly thoughts connected to anxiety
- 0:54and past events, but also doubts as well.
- 0:58And I was working with a client that had a lot of intrusive
- 1:01thoughts, and those intrusive thoughts were spiralling into
- 1:05emotions like anxiety, and that anxiety was then causing more
- 1:09intrusive thoughts. And what you're going to hear in
- 1:13this particular session is a lot of metaphor to help frame the
- 1:18thoughts as something that they're in control of, but also
- 1:23that sometimes thoughts are useful.
- 1:25They're messengers for really important, useful information.
- 1:29There's also elements of boundary setting.
- 1:32And the particular client that I was working with had thoughts
- 1:36related to their past, but that past events had already been
- 1:41expressed, communicated, acknowledged, forgiven.
- 1:44The slate was already wiped clean, but they were the ones
- 1:47bringing these thoughts back. And therefore you're going to
- 1:50hear 2 metaphors of fortress walls, not just walls or fences,
- 1:55but fortress walls because that's perceived to be
- 1:58impenetrable. So that any thought that comes
- 2:02up from a past, if it's before 2 certain timelines each
- 2:06representing this fortress wall, then it doesn't get to infect
- 2:10their future. I would say this is going to be
- 2:13really useful for someone that is haunting themself with
- 2:17thoughts connected to past events or tends to have a lot of
- 2:22overthinking or intrusive thoughts that are tied to very
- 2:26intense, unuseful or unpleasant emotions.
- 2:30Because a lot of these metaphors will work for whoever you are.
- 2:34There is a reference here to a proposal.
- 2:37That's because the client had proposed to their partner, and
- 2:40that represents the timeline of the closest fortress wall.
- 2:44It's unlikely that you've had a recent proposal and therefore
- 2:48you could ignore that suggestion, but that's why it's
- 2:51included in this particular session.
- 2:54Obviously the nature of this session is that it's all about
- 2:58reducing intrusive thoughts, dialing down anxiety, but it was
- 3:02created for a very specific individual in very specific
- 3:05circumstances. And on that basis, if you feel
- 3:08that you would benefit from a more tailored, bespoke session
- 3:13specific to your needs, there will be a link in the
- 3:16description in the show notes where you can schedule a
- 3:20completely free consultation call to explore working with me.
- 3:24And there's also some other resources there as well like
- 3:26suitability tests and free downloads and even a free seven
- 3:30day course. But in order to get the best out
- 3:33of this session, I would encourage you to find a quiet,
- 3:37comfortable place, ideally in a kind of environment where you're
- 3:40not going to be disturbed or interrupted, and justice, relax
- 3:43and enjoy the session. None.
- 5:17Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 5:23resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 5:28And as you exhale, just allow any feelings of stress and
- 5:33tension to feel like they're slowly leaving your body in your
- 5:38outward breath, breathing in. And on the next outward breath,
- 5:44just allow your eyelids to completely relaxed.
- 5:49And notice with your eyes closed how much easier it is to focus
- 5:56on the sound of my voice. As you continue to breathe in
- 6:01for deeper and exhale for longer, that's in.
- 6:12As you breathe in and breathe out, maybe feel your shoulders
- 6:16drop, any muscles around your jaw start to loosen, and get
- 6:22permission for your mind just beginning to drift in through
- 6:30the nose and out through the nose.
- 6:36That's in releasing tension, just like mist dissolving.
- 6:45And I want you to become aware of your feet.
- 6:49Just notice them, maybe if they're connected to the ground.
- 6:54Just feel that sensation of weight, feeling safe, supported,
- 7:01anchored. And that sense of support
- 7:05spreads upwards from your feet, through your calves into your
- 7:11thighs and your hips. Each breath out a signal that
- 7:18right now, in this moment, you have full permission to just let
- 7:25go. And so your back relaxes, the
- 7:30muscles in your chests, often anything around your neck, your
- 7:35shoulders just melts away any tension as your attention begins
- 7:40to drift inwards. That's right, Breathing in
- 7:47relaxation, exhaling tension. And the deeper you breathe, the
- 7:53more relaxed you become. And the more relaxed you become,
- 7:57the deeper you breathe. Each breath takes you deeper and
- 8:01deeper, relaxed. And as your body relaxes, your
- 8:06imagination awakens. That's it.
- 8:10And I want you to get a sense that sometimes the mind can feel
- 8:16like it's on high alert, like a radar searching for threats.
- 8:24But I want you to get a sense that right now there are no
- 8:28threats, only peace, only stillness.
- 8:36I want you to get a sense that in a state of emergency, it
- 8:42makes sense to be on high alert. But why would you be on high
- 8:47alert if now was the time to let everything dial down?
- 8:57And I want you to imagine a switchboard or a control room in
- 9:01your mind with many dials and buttons.
- 9:06And I want you to see a particular button or dial
- 9:11labeled alert level. And I want you to imagine your
- 9:18hand reaching out and gently turning it down from red alert
- 9:25to amber, from amber to yellow, and then all the way down to a
- 9:33soft green. I want you to get a sense that
- 9:37your body is responding to this change in alert level.
- 9:44And what if all of these recent high alert feelings were linked
- 9:51to a particular life decision that you made to make sure that
- 9:56you were ready to make that decision?
- 10:00But now you've made that decision, the high alert is no
- 10:05longer needed. And just feel that it's dialed
- 10:08all the way down. Allow your body to feel safe and
- 10:15allow your mind to feel relaxed. And in the timeline of your
- 10:23life, there is a powerful moment, like a line drawn in the
- 10:30sand. I want you to visualize the
- 10:36moment you proposed and the moment they said yes.
- 10:42And I want you to get a sense that as you observe that, you
- 10:46get a sense that in that moment, something shifted.
- 10:53Rewind it and now replay it from a first person perspective.
- 10:57Feel like you're back in your body in that moment and hearing
- 11:04the words of affirmation that it was accepted.
- 11:09And I want you to feel physically feel something shift.
- 11:16I want you to get a sense that it wasn't just a proposal.
- 11:21I want you to perceive it as a moment of acceptance, a vow of
- 11:27forgiveness, and a declaration of trust.
- 11:33And by being acceptance, forgiveness and trust, it then
- 11:39builds a fortress wall protecting you from your past.
- 11:46And beyond that fortress wall, imagine another fortress wall
- 11:53where you were explicitly told not everything needs to be
- 11:58shared. Some things are just for you to
- 12:01deal with, and I want you to feel that your relationship is
- 12:07now protected by those two large, impenetrable fortress
- 12:12walls. And I want you to get a sense
- 12:16that that moment of acceptance, forgiveness, and trust was not
- 12:23just of who you are now, but everything you've been through
- 12:28and also everywhere you're going together.
- 12:34So from this moment on, I want you to choose to feel that
- 12:39you've crossed that line and you are on the safe side of those
- 12:45two fortress walls. Everything before that line and
- 12:49those walls are in the past and everything after is your future.
- 12:56A clean slate, a sacred contract, a peaceful mind.
- 13:07Now I want you to imagine a tiny zoo with tiny creatures, strange
- 13:14creatures. Maybe they look like little
- 13:18monsters or aliens. But I want you to create an
- 13:22idea, a new way of thinking that every thought is like a little
- 13:28creature. Some are light and playful, some
- 13:33are curious, some are helpful, and some are loud and intrusive,
- 13:40aggressive and not well-intentioned.
- 13:47But here's something you should know about these little
- 13:50creatures. These creatures can only grow if
- 13:55they are fed and what feeds them?
- 14:01Attention and emotion and sometimes the intensity of your
- 14:07reaction. But you are not a creature like
- 14:12them. You are the keeper of the
- 14:16creatures. You are in control now and you
- 14:22get to decide which thoughts get your attention.
- 14:26And you get to decide which emotions you give away.
- 14:32You get to decide what grows and what fades.
- 14:38Or perhaps you could think of a garden with both flowers and
- 14:44weeds. If you fed the weeds and starved
- 14:48the flowers, your garden would be a horrible garden filled with
- 14:52weeds. But instead you nurture the
- 14:56flowers and you remove the weeds.
- 15:01And I want you to think of your relationship as that beautiful
- 15:05garden. You are nurturing what you want
- 15:08to keep, and you are removing or ignoring what does not belong
- 15:14there. And I want you to get a sense
- 15:19that sometimes those persistence repeating thoughts, especially
- 15:25the ones you didn't invite in. What if they aren't enemies?
- 15:33A plague of thoughts harassing you?
- 15:36I want you to think of them as messengers.
- 15:41What if these recurring thoughts looked like something else on
- 15:46the outside, but had something valuable on the inside?
- 15:52Like a valuable gift in past the parcel, or something helpful
- 15:57inside a Trojan horse. And they may arrive in an
- 16:02uncomfortable, perhaps unusual form, but inside is something
- 16:08valuable. And you know that to be true
- 16:13because every intrusive thought of your past had something
- 16:18valuable to offer you. Maybe it was a lesson.
- 16:24Maybe it was an opportunity to demonstrate a sense of
- 16:28reassurance or growth or progress.
- 16:31Maybe a boundary. Maybe it's to avoid something
- 16:36undesirable happening in the future, or maybe a reminder of
- 16:42what truly matters. It's the next time that
- 16:46recurring intrusive thought appears.
- 16:49Instead of fighting it like an enemy or feeling like you have
- 16:53to share something, something that perhaps someone else
- 16:58doesn't want to hear, you don't feed it.
- 17:01But you do notice it, like watching a cloud pass in the sky
- 17:08or leaves floating on a stream. But if the same cloud comes back
- 17:13time after time, and the same leaf almost seems to fall back
- 17:20on the stream in the same way, you can simply ask yourself, or
- 17:26even ask the thought, What are you here to teach me?
- 17:31What lesson are you offering? And then you thank it and let it
- 17:37pass. And you don't need to decode
- 17:43every intrusive thought, because that's giving it attention and
- 17:48emotion. But you can be curious and don't
- 17:53be surprised if every now and then you find a nugget of gold
- 17:58in inside something that was innocuous or perhaps even
- 18:03undesirable. And you can be grateful for
- 18:08these insights and lessons. And the moment you extract
- 18:12wisdom or something valuable from a thought, the need for the
- 18:17recurring thought immediately vanishes.
- 18:21And the cloud does not reappear, and the stream does not reappear
- 18:27with the leaf in the same place. And I want you to think about
- 18:33your future now. I want you to see yourself on
- 18:38your wedding day. And I want you to see the
- 18:43expression that you would most want on that day.
- 18:51I want you to get a sense of how you're looking, how you're
- 18:53moving. And there may be some nerves or
- 18:56jitters, but I want you to see that the dominant emotion is
- 19:02something wonderful and positive.
- 19:06And then go further into the future.
- 19:08Maybe a few years from now, you could imagine seeing yourself
- 19:13waking up beside your partner, safe and loved.
- 19:18I want you to see those shared smiles, plans not just made, but
- 19:23experienced. I want you to see that that kind
- 19:28of love grows stronger with time.
- 19:29I don't want you to step into any one of those moments to know
- 19:36that it's true that the more you think about what you want, the
- 19:41more you increase the probability of manifesting that
- 19:45future. And what if from now onwards,
- 19:50instead of feeding the thoughts that you didn't want, more and
- 19:55more often you feed the thoughts that you do?
- 20:01That's it. Creating wonderful, self
- 20:03fulfilling prophecies. I want you to get a sense that
- 20:07you can in advance feel the joy of the life you are choosing.
- 20:13Any of those echoes or ghosts from the past can never get
- 20:16through those two fortress walls.
- 20:20This is a future built on trust, forgiveness, and new beginnings.
- 20:27And each day forward, you feed only the thoughts that deserve
- 20:31your energy, are useful or helpful, and you water only the
- 20:38seeds of peace, love, and clarity.
- 20:42Any of those thoughts that weeds feel, that you can just pluck
- 20:46them and throw them away. And that line in the sand, those
- 20:53fortress walls never move. And anytime you need to, you can
- 21:01look back at it, not to return, but to remind yourself how far
- 21:06you've come. You are not your past, you are
- 21:12wiser for it. You've chosen love, you've
- 21:16chosen peace, and you've chosen to be the gardener of your mind.
- 21:25I want you to get a sense that you now have tools, ways of
- 21:29thinking. But more importantly, think back
- 21:34to that dial. No need for high alert.
- 21:39You are safely protected by those fortress halls.
- 21:44Now is the safe time, the calm time, the peaceful time.
- 21:51No need for vigilance. No need for high alert.
- 21:54No need for panic. Start to feel good and aligned.
- 22:01That's it. Very soon I will count from 1:00
- 22:06to 10:00 and you will return back to the here and now.
- 22:10So firstly, take a deep breath in through your nose and out
- 22:14through your nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 22:17wiggle your toes. Start to connect and calibrate
- 22:19into the here and the now. That's it.
- 22:22And now I'll count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 22:26You will awaken feeling calm, refreshed, connected with new
- 22:33ways of thinking about how to think.
- 22:37Starting to count 123 Waking up 456 More alert 7-8 Open your
- 22:44eyes. Open your eyes. 910 Wide awake,
