- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester.
- 0:02Speaker 2: And Matt Flynn. Okay, here we go.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Where the plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Dude, they said I gotta come off the bench.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench, live from the Raising
- 0:12Speaker 1: Cane Studio.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Welcome back in, OTB. Tried to make a switch there.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Sounded great.
- 0:31Speaker 4: This wire keeps.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Getting caught on the kink. And I thought maybe if
- 0:35Speaker 2: I switched the kink, if I went from the left
- 0:38Speaker 2: side to the right side, it would help a little bit.
- 0:40Speaker 3: It did not.
- 0:41Speaker 4: It only made it worse.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Let me scoot up. I got to get close. Wire
- 0:44Speaker 2: only has so much.
- 0:47Speaker 3: The kink, huh? Like Greg Kinky?
- 0:53Speaker 2: No, Moscona didn't buy the long wire. Ah, the long one.
- 0:56Speaker 2: He went with the six-foot wire. He didn't splurge for
- 0:58Speaker 2: the ten-foot wire. Come on. You know?
- 1:00Speaker 3: I just say wireless, man. The technology's out there.
- 1:04Speaker 2: You think you can go wireless with... I guess you
- 1:06Speaker 2: could with a Rodecaster.
- 1:08Speaker 3: The technology is out there. Bluetooth, maybe.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Some way, somehow. It's 2026. I don't know that here
- 1:15Speaker 2: at 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge we're going to get that technology.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it seems like, you know, we were just talking
- 1:20Speaker 3: about it. Technology always creates problems.
- 1:23Speaker 2: So....
- 1:25Speaker 3: It'd probably be a problem. It'd probably work for a while.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Then the Bluetooth would stop toothing.
- 1:33Speaker 4: How does that happen?
- 1:36Speaker 3: I don't know. It's like, why has the Wi-Fi stopped working?
- 1:40Speaker 3: Why is the tree good?
- 1:42Speaker 2: I don't know. Don't keep hauling.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Why is this guy good?
- 1:44Speaker 2: Don't keep hauling. What else is good, Matt? You get it.
- 1:51Speaker 2: All right, let's go quickly around the top 25 in
- 1:54Speaker 2: college football and give you some scores. It was Miami
- 1:59Speaker 2: over FAMU, 77-7 on Thursday. On Friday, it was number 23,
- 2:05Speaker 2: Missouri over Kansas, 38-21. It was number 24, Louisville over Villanova, 59-13.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Number 25, Virginia over Norfolk State, 59-3. Virginia's pretty good.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Let's see. On Saturday, it was number four, Texas, taking
- 2:23Speaker 2: down number one, Ohio State, 24-23. It was number two, Georgia,
- 2:29Speaker 2: taking down Western Kentucky, 70-20. Number three, Notre Dame with
- 2:33Speaker 2: a barn burner against Rice, 52-0. Number five, Indiana, 55-0
- 2:39Speaker 2: over Howard. Oklahoma State, after losing to Tulsa, comes back
- 2:44Speaker 2: at home and beats number six, Oregon, 39-0. to 31
- 2:50Speaker 2: and we'll come back to that game I know the
- 2:52Speaker 2: Texas Ohio State game but what a win for the
- 2:54Speaker 2: Polks as they take down Oregon after losing to Tulsa
- 2:58Speaker 2: of course LSU 45-14 over Louisiana Tech Ole Miss over
- 3:01Speaker 2: Charlotte 41-9 Texas A & M pulls away outscores Arizona
- 3:06Speaker 2: State 24-0 in the fourth quarter to beat Arizona State
- 3:11Speaker 2: 48-20 we've already talked about it Michigan takes down number
- 3:15Speaker 2: 11 Oklahoma 17-10 Alabama and Kentucky look like it was
- 3:20Speaker 2: going to be a four-quarter game, and then Alabama in
- 3:23Speaker 2: the third quarter certainly pulled away. So number 12, Alabama
- 3:26Speaker 2: beats Kentucky on the road 45-17. Number 13, Texas Tech
- 3:31Speaker 2: goes on the road and takes down Oregon State 35-24.
- 3:35Speaker 2: The Raging Cajuns went out west to USC and actually
- 3:38Speaker 2: fought until the very end. They go down, though, 49-30. BYU,
- 3:42Speaker 2: number 15 team in the country, takes down Arizona 28-17.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Number 16, Penn State, 27-9 over Temple. Number 17, SMU
- 3:52Speaker 2: takes down UC Davis, 56-10. Number 18, Tennessee goes on
- 3:56Speaker 2: the road downtown Atlanta and takes care of Georgia Tech
- 4:00Speaker 2: with ease, 45-24. Number 19, Washington really struggled with a
- 4:05Speaker 2: bad Utah State football team. They come away with a victory,
- 4:09Speaker 2: but 16-14. against Utah State. Number 20, Utah, all over Arkansas.
- 4:15Speaker 4: They are bad, bad.
- 4:17Speaker 2: 43-10. Iowa, number 21 team in the country, wins that
- 4:22Speaker 2: rivalry game 16-13 over Iowa State. And then number 22, Houston, 77,
- 4:28Speaker 2: Southern 6. So that is the top 25 in action
- 4:31Speaker 2: in week number two. The Texas-Ohio State game, that was
- 4:36Speaker 2: an instant classic. That was a great game. It looked
- 4:39Speaker 2: like Texas was left for dead. They outscore Ohio State
- 4:42Speaker 2: 21-0 in the fourth quarter to win that game. Look,
- 4:48Speaker 2: that's a big win, and I don't cheer for conferences.
- 4:52Speaker 4: I don't do that.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I think that's kind of dumb. But the SEC, in
- 4:56Speaker 2: the argument, needed a win like this against the Big Ten,
- 4:59Speaker 2: certainly after Michigan beats Oklahoma.
- 5:04Speaker 3: As impressive as it was for Texas... What they did
- 5:08Speaker 3: to come back and win, it was equally as disappointing
- 5:11Speaker 3: for Ohio State. In no world can you lose that
- 5:15Speaker 3: game if you're Ohio State. And, of course, I say that.
- 5:21Speaker 3: You have to make a lot of mistakes. You have
- 5:22Speaker 3: to make a lot of poor decisions from a coaching
- 5:25Speaker 3: staff as well. And this was during the LSU game.
- 5:30Speaker 3: I was also enjoying a margarita at the time, so
- 5:33Speaker 3: I'm not going to tell you exactly all the perfect
- 5:35Speaker 3: details about the bad coaching decisions.
- 5:37Speaker 2: You're supposed to.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Be working during the LSU games, watching, analyzing.
- 5:41Speaker 3: I don't work weekends. That's what I watch the film for,
- 5:45Speaker 3: for LSU, bud. But a lot of things have to
- 5:49Speaker 3: go wrong. You've got to make a lot of bad
- 5:50Speaker 3: decisions and a lot of bad plays. And on the
- 5:51Speaker 3: other hand, Texas has to make a lot of great plays.
- 5:54Speaker 3: And that they did. I still don't completely understand how
- 6:01Speaker 3: they could let that happen. But it certainly did. But
- 6:04Speaker 3: it was a great game. Like you said, instant classic.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Sarkeesian needs to chill out a little bit, though. He's
- 6:11Speaker 3: kind of a douche.
- 6:12Speaker 2: It's so weird because, like, I love interviewing Steve Sarkeesian.
- 6:19Speaker 2: He's great with his time. He gives great answers. He's
- 6:22Speaker 2: got a side where he can have some fun, and
- 6:25Speaker 2: he'll go in-depth about his team. But, like, I hadn't seen, like,
- 6:30Speaker 2: I don't see, like, that side.
- 6:31Speaker 4: But, like, Holly Rose got a job to do.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 3: He's just a prick.
- 6:35Speaker 2: And you're supposed, like, you have to know, like, that's
- 6:37Speaker 2: part of your job.
- 6:39Speaker 3: And it is.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Like, that's in your, like, that's in the deal is
- 6:42Speaker 2: that you're going to, you know, you've got partnerships. And
- 6:44Speaker 2: the league's partnered with ESPN. And so you have to
- 6:47Speaker 2: do that.
- 6:48Speaker 4: And, you know, Holly's got a job to do.
- 6:52Speaker 2: And so, like, when you do that, the only, and
- 6:54Speaker 2: I understand wanting to celebrate with your team.
- 6:56Speaker 4: I really do.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Like, and.
- 6:57Speaker 4: You see your team down there.
- 6:58Speaker 2: They're celebrating. They just had this huge victory against the
- 7:00Speaker 2: number one team in the country. It doesn't have to
- 7:03Speaker 2: be long.
- 7:04Speaker 3: It doesn't.
- 7:04Speaker 2: But you can't say hook them into the thing and
- 7:06Speaker 2: then just run off. You know, you say it in
- 7:08Speaker 2: a way. Holly asks a question. You answer it. And
- 7:11Speaker 2: then in your answer, you kind of say, hey, can
- 7:14Speaker 2: we get one more in so I can go celebrate
- 7:16Speaker 2: with my team? And nobody cares.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:19Speaker 2: But, yeah, like look at it, hook them and run off.
- 7:21Speaker 4: And then that puts Holly in a really bad spot.
- 7:24Speaker 3: And it seems like one of the nicer people, too.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Yeah, no, for sure. No, Holly's great. Holly's salt of
- 7:30Speaker 4: the earth.
- 7:31Speaker 3: But, like, just relax a little bit. I mean, are you, like,
- 7:33Speaker 3: I don't know. Like, do you have a, I don't know.
- 7:38Speaker 3: He came on, like, I just don't, there's something about him.
- 7:42Speaker 3: He's got too many of these situations where he just
- 7:44Speaker 3: blows up. Just relax a little bit. Like, okay, get excited.
- 7:47Speaker 3: You've got to do the interview. Would you rather not
- 7:48Speaker 3: be the coach, get interviewed because you lost? Like, do
- 7:51Speaker 3: the interview.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Your guy Drink handled it awesome this past weekend. Did
- 7:57Speaker 3: you see the post-game interview? So they win the game.
- 7:59Speaker 3: They beat Kansas. I guess it's a rivalry. How embarrassing.
- 8:02Speaker 4: They used to be in the Big 12 together for.
- 8:03Speaker 2: A long, long time.
- 8:04Speaker 3: How embarrassing is it that you're an SEC team and
- 8:06Speaker 3: you're a rivalry with the Kansas Jayhawks? That's embarrassing.
- 8:10Speaker 2: This man will never give himself over to Missouri being
- 8:13Speaker 2: in the league.
- 8:14Speaker 3: He handled it the right way. He's doing an interview,
- 8:15Speaker 3: and he saw his team start to break out in
- 8:17Speaker 3: a fight. He was like, hey. Let me answer your
- 8:19Speaker 3: questions really quick. I've got to handle this situation over here.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I just want to make sure nothing stupid happens. At
- 8:23Speaker 3: least he took the time to do it. Sark just
- 8:25Speaker 3: came off like a prick, man. Whatever. I'm not cheering
- 8:32Speaker 3: for Texas.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I'll tell you that.
- 8:34Speaker 5: I know.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I was cheering. I was hoping Ohio State would win
- 8:36Speaker 3: so bad.
- 8:39Speaker 4: I'm not cheering for Texas. God, I'm not doing that.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Not with him at head coach.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Well, I always like. I want the teams that LSU
- 8:47Speaker 2: is playing. Like, Texas is on their schedule. So, like,
- 8:50Speaker 2: I always kind of go back and forth. I'm like,
- 8:53Speaker 2: you know, I don't want them to be undefeated. And
- 8:55Speaker 2: so when they come here and they lose the Tiger Stadium.
- 8:57Speaker 3: That's how I am traditionally. Like, normally I cheer for
- 9:01Speaker 3: all the people LSU plays for leading up to that game.
- 9:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Because I want to beat the number one team or
- 9:05Speaker 3: the number two team or whatever it is. I want
- 9:06Speaker 3: to beat those guys. But not them.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I mean, like, even like we talked about with Ole Miss. Like,
- 9:11Speaker 2: Louisville had a chance to beat them. I'm kind of like,
- 9:13Speaker 2: you know what? I want week number three to be
- 9:15Speaker 2: a couple undefeated teams, you know. So, like, even as
- 9:18Speaker 2: we get into more of a preview for that game.
- 9:20Speaker 2: But a big win for Texas. But, yeah, Sark definitely
- 9:23Speaker 2: could have handled that better. The chat's telling me he
- 9:25Speaker 2: threw some shade at LSU, too, during game day.
- 9:28Speaker 4: He did that in a press conference, too.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I mean, that's okay.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I mean, they actually had the first guy on a
- 9:34Speaker 2: team that had an NFL helmet on for a couple
- 9:36Speaker 2: different NFL teams. Yeah.
- 9:37Speaker 3: I'm not going to get mad at that. It's fine.
- 9:39Speaker 3: A little gamesmanship there. Well, this would be a prick
- 9:42Speaker 3: to be a prick. He yelled at that poor person
- 9:45Speaker 3: just doing their job in the tunnel.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I forgot about that.
- 9:50Speaker 3: My God.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I forgot about that one. He was ready to go out,
- 9:53Speaker 2: and the guy was like, hold, hold, hold. He put
- 9:55Speaker 2: a couple of fingertips on him, and then he freaked out.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Medication or something. bipolar. Yeah.
- 10:02Speaker 4: And you don't, I mean, you're not a confrontation person anyway,
- 10:04Speaker 4: so I get it.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I mean, not until I have to be. I'm not
- 10:09Speaker 3: trying to, I'm not out trying to.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Now, you're not T-Bob levels of non-confrontational, but.
- 10:15Speaker 3: I'm not out here trying to fight Holly Roe.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Poor Holly.
- 10:24Speaker 3: A look on her face was so sad, man.
- 10:27Speaker 2: She was trying to do her job.
- 10:28Speaker 3: It's like, my God.
- 10:29Speaker 4: She rolled those eyes heavy.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Yeah, because she knows.
- 10:33Speaker 2: She got a job, and now that reflects on her.
- 10:36Speaker 3: This is one of those things that's like probably one
- 10:38Speaker 3: of these things that is known within all the inner
- 10:40Speaker 3: circles of the media because they see these coaches all
- 10:44Speaker 3: the time. They try to get interviews with them. It's
- 10:46Speaker 3: probably known that he's an a-hole.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't know.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Ask some people. Ask your people. Have them call our people.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Anyway. John Davis says, spell out what's in his contract
- 11:01Speaker 2: for me, and then we can talk. No, it is.
- 11:03Speaker 4: I mean, there is a clause in there.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not going to go into bylaws because
- 11:06Speaker 2: I don't care that much, but there is a part
- 11:08Speaker 2: of it that, like, on-field interviews like that are a
- 11:11Speaker 2: part of the contract. Through the SEC, with ESPN, you're
- 11:16Speaker 2: an SEC institution, so it is part of your contract.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I like that.
- 11:19Speaker 2: If it wasn't, I wouldn't say it. It's part of
- 11:22Speaker 2: your contract. You have media obligations, and there's certain ones
- 11:25Speaker 2: that you have to do, and that is one of them.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, people– the coaches aren't getting paid because of, like,
- 11:32Speaker 3: the gate prices and the ticket prices. They're getting paid
- 11:34Speaker 3: because of, you know– largely because of– and schools are
- 11:38Speaker 3: getting paid because of TV contracts.
- 11:40Speaker 2: So you.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Got to do the interviews. Sorry. It sucks sometimes.
- 11:47Speaker 2: It does.
- 11:47Speaker 4: No, it does.
- 11:48Speaker 3: It's– And there's a nice, and look, there's a.
- 11:51Speaker 4: And I have to do those on the radio.
- 11:55Speaker 3: And there's a way to treat human beings no matter what.
- 11:57Speaker 1: True.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Even if you don't want to do it, right?
- 11:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 3: But those eyes I saw coming out of him.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Oh, crazy eyes. Sorry.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Everybody's got obligations they got to do out there in
- 12:09Speaker 3: every job. Got to do them. Oh, yeah.
- 12:13Speaker 2: I mean, you're right. If Lane did that right now
- 12:16Speaker 2: to ESPN and Holly Roe, yeah, bless Mary.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Yeah, Sankey would be back in Baton Rouge.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Golly, we wouldn't be able to play Ole Miss this weekend.
- 12:25Speaker 3: No doubt. He makes a joke last week coming off
- 12:27Speaker 3: the field at halftime.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:30Speaker 3: And he gets crushed. And Sark over there wanted to
- 12:34Speaker 3: kill a very nice lady.
- 12:39Speaker 4: So, Oregon sucks.
- 12:42Speaker 3: They're not good at all. They almost got beat by Boise.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Early season is so funny, dude, because we were coming
- 12:49Speaker 3: out last week saying, man, it's Boise State. That's definitely
- 12:52Speaker 3: going to be a playoff team. They're like super legit.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I was talking about their quarterback, how well he played.
- 12:57Speaker 2: He started for 17 years.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I didn't expect it.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I think he did the.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Statue of Liberty against Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Back in 2005 or whatever year that was, 2006.
- 13:07Speaker 3: I didn't expect the team that lost to Tulsa last
- 13:10Speaker 3: week to come out and beat them.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Maybe the Golden Hurricane. Maybe we're burying the lead here.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe Tulsa's it. Maybe Tulsa is him.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Oregon got beat up up front two games in a row.
- 13:27Speaker 2: And that's kind of like that's the reason that I
- 13:29Speaker 2: thought that they were going to be different is because
- 13:32Speaker 2: Dan Lanning's kind of changed that culture in Oregon. They
- 13:35Speaker 2: used to all be about speed and he's kind of
- 13:38Speaker 2: brought a different attitude, intensity.
- 13:39Speaker 4: He's a guy that's coached a lot in the SEC.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, it starts to look different and This
- 13:44Speaker 2: year they were supposed to be their best up front,
- 13:46Speaker 2: and they are getting pushed around by both teams they played.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it's very disappointing.
- 13:54Speaker 4: What's the total yards they gave up there? 554.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Oklahoma State at 554 total yards.
- 14:02Speaker 2: And that's pretty impressive because Oklahoma State wasn't good on
- 14:04Speaker 2: third down.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Five of 17 and still.
- 14:07Speaker 2: So a lot of times when you give up that
- 14:08Speaker 2: many yards, right, extended drives, and that's the reason why.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Nope.
- 14:14Speaker 2: That wasn't it. 554 yards.
- 14:17Speaker 4: They got put in a blender.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Yeah, no, they got beat up both sides of the ball.
- 14:23Speaker 3: 36 minutes, 54 seconds time of possession to 23 minutes
- 14:27Speaker 3: time of possession. The guy that has your quarterback thought
- 14:31Speaker 3: to be the number one guy.
- 14:32Speaker 2: And I know Taylor said Messamaker is good in the
- 14:34Speaker 2: chat here.
- 14:35Speaker 4: He's okay.
- 14:37Speaker 2: He threw two interceptions, too, that weren't great interceptions, and
- 14:40Speaker 2: they still found a way to win.
- 14:42Speaker 3: I mean, Messmaker, yeah, he had some really nice plays,
- 14:45Speaker 3: but again, he lost to Tulsa.
- 14:49Speaker 2: The Golden Hurricane.
- 14:50Speaker 3: It's not an interstate rivalry either. It's not a rivalry,
- 14:58Speaker 3: even though they're in the same state.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I was about to say, wait a minute. That's an
- 15:01Speaker 2: in-state rivalry.
- 15:01Speaker 3: No, that's definitely in-state, but I don't think anybody's getting
- 15:05Speaker 3: it twisted that it's a rivalry. I think that's two
- 15:08Speaker 3: years in a row. Dante Moore, I don't know.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Is it two years in a row, Moose? Yeah, that
- 15:11Speaker 4: Tulsa Vito comes to.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Say, I thought so. Tulsa.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Playoff team?
- 15:16Speaker 4: That's what we're asking.
- 15:18Speaker 3: How'd they do this past week? I'm sure they blew
- 15:20Speaker 3: someone out.
- 15:21Speaker 2: We definitely know. We definitely know what Tulsa.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Did this weekend. Hey, is the experiment over? Dan Lanning,
- 15:28Speaker 3: the Dante Moore experiment's over. It's time.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Oh, for your boy.
- 15:33Speaker 3: I don't know if y'all know this, but Dylan Rayola
- 15:36Speaker 3: transferred there. It's time. Mahomes is back tonight. Dylan Rayola
- 15:44Speaker 3: back this weekend.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I mean, to our point, Tulsa went on the road.
- 15:51Speaker 2: You just don't do this. You don't go on the
- 15:54Speaker 2: road and beat Sam Houston 23-17. Nobody just does that, okay?
- 15:59Speaker 3: You're not just going to roll out a college team.
- 16:03Speaker 3: You just beat the team that beat Oregon a week before.
- 16:07Speaker 3: and take down Sam Houston, the Bearcats, by six points.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Are they the Bearcats? Yeah, when did they drop the
- 16:12Speaker 2: state part of it? Oh, Sam Houston State forever. Just
- 16:16Speaker 2: say Sam Houston now. Cancel culture. State? Yeah, he's a
- 16:20Speaker 2: bad guy.
- 16:21Speaker 3: He's a bad guy.
- 16:23Speaker 2: They still kept– you're talking about Sam Houston. You're talking
- 16:28Speaker 2: about– you and Alondra, I don't know. You got to
- 16:30Speaker 2: give me the history of Sam Houston. I don't know.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Crushed it?
- 16:32Speaker 3: I don't know. How about Texas Independence? but destroyed a
- 16:37Speaker 3: whole country by themselves.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Mexico. I don't know. And then Boise State goes and
- 16:43Speaker 2: beats Memphis 38-20, so maybe they are good. I don't know.
- 16:47Speaker 2: It's what we love about college football.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Who knows?
- 16:49Speaker 2: You can't play six degrees of Kevin Bacon in college football.
- 16:51Speaker 2: It doesn't work that way because, well, the math isn't
- 16:54Speaker 2: mathing sometimes. All right, we will step away. We've got
- 16:58Speaker 2: a little weekend winners. I know it's been some time.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I know it's been some time. We've had a lot
- 17:02Speaker 2: to talk about on Mondays about court cases and lawsuits
- 17:05Speaker 2: and all this different stuff that we've talked about on Mondays,
- 17:08Speaker 2: but we're going to bring weekend winners back when we
- 17:11Speaker 2: come back. So Tay-Tay Alondra back in studio. Go ahead
- 17:14Speaker 2: and get some of those weekend winners ready. We will
- 17:17Speaker 2: step away, and we'll come back right here live from

- 18:17Speaker 3: They got that Trash Rangers sanitation department. Portable toilets for

- 19:39Speaker 2: weekend winners.
- 19:42Speaker 4: That's how winning is done.
- 19:43Speaker 1: That's right.
- 19:45Speaker 3: We can't have anyone freak.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Out out there, okay?
- 19:47Speaker 3: We gotta keep our composure we've come too far I'm
- 19:52Speaker 3: by winning I win here and I win there now what.
- 19:55Speaker 6: Are you doing what it takes to win a championship
- 19:59Speaker 6: wow winning well then.
- 20:02Speaker 3: I guess there's only one thing left to do.
- 20:05Speaker 2: What's that win the whole All right, I'll start us off.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Weekend winner for me, I think it's going to be
- 20:20Speaker 2: LSU football leaning in to being the villain, leaning into
- 20:27Speaker 2: being where all the cool kids are. You had Boosie
- 20:32Speaker 2: and Lil Wayne walk down the hill with you, and
- 20:33Speaker 2: we talked about the hill, whatever, and that's going to
- 20:36Speaker 2: be reimagined and from what it's been the first two weeks. But, like,
- 20:39Speaker 2: having those guys in the building, and I'm going to
- 20:42Speaker 2: say a weekend winner for this. So, and I'm not
- 20:45Speaker 2: going to say who it was, but so I was
- 20:47Speaker 2: walking through the tunnel to get to the field because
- 20:49Speaker 2: I like to talk to the coordinators before the game.
- 20:52Speaker 4: You know, hey, who should I look out for? Like,
- 20:55Speaker 4: what are you thinking today?
- 20:56Speaker 3: Whatever.
- 20:56Speaker 2: So I'm walking through the tunnel, and I'm going to
- 20:57Speaker 2: talk with Blake Baker, and I see, like, three big-time
- 21:01Speaker 2: recruits right there. And, like, Boosie walks by. And, like,
- 21:06Speaker 2: they just stopped talking and just, like, had their jaw open.
- 21:09Speaker 2: And they just, like, watched him walk out of the tunnel.
- 21:11Speaker 2: And then after they got through with that, then, like,
- 21:14Speaker 2: here comes Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne walks into the tunnel. And, like,
- 21:17Speaker 2: these big five-star recruits that LSU is desperately trying to add, like,
- 21:22Speaker 2: the same thing. Like, they're like, oh, my God, like,
- 21:24Speaker 2: that's boosting Lil Wayne. And so, like, those things are
- 21:29Speaker 2: really big for, like, LSU recruiting right now. They're having
- 21:31Speaker 2: a lot of success with stuff like that. I think
- 21:34Speaker 2: LSU is doing a good job of making it the
- 21:35Speaker 2: cool place to be. Look, I know you might have
- 21:38Speaker 2: some different feelings, some different thoughts on it, but LSU
- 21:41Speaker 2: right now certainly is a place that recruits are paying
- 21:44Speaker 2: attention to. You start to read some of the stuff
- 21:46Speaker 2: from these visits, and those are things that they mention.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Right now it doesn't have anything to do with football.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Maybe it's not what you should pay attention to, but
- 21:55Speaker 2: it certainly helps. And I saw it firsthand. And so
- 21:58Speaker 2: seeing it firsthand, I put a note. I'm like, that's
- 22:01Speaker 2: a weekend winner. These guys walking by.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it certainly is eye-opening and attention-grabbing. When you talk
- 22:12Speaker 3: about that, people that make a recruit drop his jaw, right?
- 22:17Speaker 3: Usually it would be somebody. That's why they always like
- 22:20Speaker 3: NFL players to come back and be on the sideline,
- 22:23Speaker 3: be around the facility. Now, Brian Kelly didn't like that
- 22:25Speaker 3: as much, but traditionally they've always welcomed and wanted the
- 22:29Speaker 3: guys that are playing in the NFL to be around
- 22:32Speaker 3: because of the recruiting impact because it gives the guys
- 22:35Speaker 3: in the locker room something to look forward to something
- 22:38Speaker 3: to it helps visualize a goal to be said that's
- 22:41Speaker 3: where I want to be I want to be that
- 22:42Speaker 3: guy that comes back but then you're doing it a
- 22:45Speaker 3: different way and like you can think of what you
- 22:48Speaker 3: want about the hill and try to be a traditionalist
- 22:50Speaker 3: and we certainly said that last week the first week
- 22:52Speaker 3: just it was surprising and new and maybe the people
- 22:55Speaker 3: didn't really make a lot of sense but It's not about, like, people.
- 22:58Speaker 3: They're not trying to grab our attention. It's not about us.
- 23:01Speaker 2: That's true. That's actually a good point.
- 23:03Speaker 3: It's certainly leaning in, I guess, to the villain-ish role,
- 23:09Speaker 3: but I think Lane's just being Lane and leaning into
- 23:13Speaker 3: the culture and being different.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Yeah, those things are.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Being, like, the sexy school. 100%.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Those were in different ways. Like, not that that doesn't make.
- 23:22Speaker 3: You the villain.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I'm saying they've leaned into... And we heard the halftime
- 23:26Speaker 2: speech against Clemson. You already know everybody hates you, so
- 23:29Speaker 2: go tell them. Can't say what he said, but we
- 23:31Speaker 2: loved it. And then this portion of it, too. So
- 23:33Speaker 2: those two things are separate. I'm just saying, like, that's
- 23:35Speaker 2: what they've really leaned into.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Yeah. All right, my weekend winner, I'm going to go
- 23:38Speaker 3: down to the high school level here in Louisiana. We
- 23:41Speaker 3: got a record that was broken this past week. Country
- 23:45Speaker 3: Day quarterback Jack Grace throws for Louisiana State record nine
- 23:49Speaker 3: touchdown passes in a game.
- 23:51Speaker 4: That had to be a Brock Berlin record he broke.
- 23:53Speaker 3: It got to be.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Had to be a Brock Berlin record.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Win over Willow 70-35. Mr. Jack Grace goes 37-46, 576
- 24:01Speaker 3: yards and nine touchdown passes. A Louisiana high school record.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Shout out Mr.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Jack Grace.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Weekend winner.
- 24:09Speaker 2: It took Flynn in high school seven games to throw
- 24:12Speaker 2: nine touchdown passes.
- 24:13Speaker 3: You're talking about maybe a season. Are you kidding me?
- 24:16Speaker 3: How about that pop pass over the middle?
- 24:20Speaker 2: And that's how you become honorable mention all district in
- 24:23Speaker 2: a four-team district.
- 24:24Speaker 3: That's third best in four teams. Scholarships.
- 24:28Speaker 4: That is awesome, though.
- 24:29Speaker 3: That is incredible. It's hard to throw nine touchdowns on air.
- 24:33Speaker 3: My God, in a game?
- 24:35Speaker 4: Well done, sir.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Well done.
- 24:37Speaker 4: Great job.
- 24:38Speaker 2: All right, Alondra, Tay-Tay, back in studio, some weekend winners.
- 24:42Speaker 5: I actually have a weekend loser, and my weekend loser
- 24:47Speaker 5: is going to be John Mateer and the Oklahoma Sooners,
- 24:51Speaker 5: also me and Matt, because we probably have been the
- 24:54Speaker 5: highest on them in the.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Studio, but it's okay.
- 24:57Speaker 5: Maybe they'll make a comeback.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Who knows, but we can lose her.
- 25:00Speaker 5: John Mateer, uh, went to Ann Arbor number, ranked number 11,
- 25:05Speaker 5: lost 17 to 10 to a team that lost to
- 25:08Speaker 5: Western Michigan. We thought they were dead in the water.
- 25:10Speaker 5: Weren't going to make a bowl game.
- 25:12Speaker 2: All of that.
- 25:13Speaker 5: They go on the road and lose to that team.
- 25:14Speaker 5: You can't be a Heisman hype quarterback and then go
- 25:17Speaker 5: 17 of 33 for 189 yards, turn the ball over
- 25:19Speaker 5: and score again. 10 points and lose to Michigan so
- 25:24Speaker 5: weekend loser for me John Mateer and the Sooners I'll.
- 25:28Speaker 7: Go weekend winner look a lot of great games in
- 25:30Speaker 7: the NFL which first off like I feel like scoring's
- 25:34Speaker 7: way down in week one people put up some gaudy
- 25:36Speaker 7: numbers in week one I'm gonna give it to the
- 25:38Speaker 7: Minnesota Vikings sorry Matt it's not who they beat it's
- 25:41Speaker 7: how they won this game Everybody had kind of written
- 25:44Speaker 7: off Minnesota, and I know that's a super tough division.
- 25:48Speaker 3: It's not that they won this game week one. It's
- 25:50Speaker 3: how they won.
- 25:50Speaker 7: Kyler Murray throws five passes in that game, gets knocked
- 25:54Speaker 7: out due to a concussion.
- 25:55Speaker 3: They're losing in the fourth quarter.
- 25:57Speaker 7: They outscore Green Bay 22 to nothing in the fourth quarter,
- 26:01Speaker 7: thanks to some defense with a backup quarterback in Carson Wentz.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Shout out to the Vikings weekend winners.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I don't. Yeah, you don't hate
- 26:11Speaker 2: that one. Green Bay's not very good. Minnesota's better. Look,
- 26:17Speaker 2: weekend loser to the Chargers.
- 26:19Speaker 4: My God. Lose to the Cardinals at home, and it
- 26:22Speaker 4: really wasn't close. You lost 26-14.
- 26:24Speaker 2: It was supposed to be a better offense. It did
- 26:28Speaker 2: not look like a well-oiled machine.
- 26:31Speaker 3: And I don't want to knock on you, Jacob, and
- 26:34Speaker 3: make you think this is all about me hating on you.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Is Justin Herbert and Jordan Love the same person? Are
- 26:40Speaker 3: they the most overrated quarterbacks? They're great quarterbacks.
- 26:43Speaker 2: They're starting to become that way.
- 26:45Speaker 3: They're great quarterbacks. So don't take it as like I'm
- 26:48Speaker 3: saying they're a bad quarterback. But on the pedestal that
- 26:52Speaker 3: people put Justin, Justin Herbert gets the benefit of the
- 26:55Speaker 3: doubt all the time. Jordan Love gets the benefit of
- 26:57Speaker 3: the doubt, maybe not as much, but he's always in
- 26:59Speaker 3: these preseason talks for MVP. Those two are almost like
- 27:05Speaker 3: the same guy in different conferences.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 27:08Speaker 4: And make a throw that keeps your jaw on the floor. Yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 4: And then that's what you fall in love with.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Or have these games that makes you. Oh, you got
- 27:15Speaker 3: John Harbaugh saying, you know, Justin Herbert might go down
- 27:18Speaker 3: as the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:22Speaker 3: It's starting to get a little tired.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:26Speaker 3: I agree. And look, this is week one. Week one,
- 27:28Speaker 3: crazy overreactions always. But when you come out from an offseason.
- 27:32Speaker 3: And especially with Justin Herbert being in the spotlight a lot,
- 27:35Speaker 3: like there's more eyes on you.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:37Speaker 3: And your coaches, you get Mike McDonnell, Mike McDaniel. And so, like, it's.
- 27:42Speaker 2: That's McDonnell, McDaniel.
- 27:44Speaker 3: I know.
- 27:45Speaker 2: I know.
- 27:46Speaker 3: So it is one of those things that they're both overrated.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Very good quarterbacks. I'm with you. So don't get me
- 27:53Speaker 3: wrong on that. Don't twist my words on that. But
- 27:56Speaker 3: from where the pedestal that they are put on, which
- 27:58Speaker 3: they didn't ask for.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Right.
- 28:00Speaker 3: They continue to, I guess, underwhelm.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I'm with you because you'll go watch a game with
- 28:06Speaker 2: a Josh Allen, a Lamar Jackson, a Joe Burrow, and
- 28:09Speaker 2: you're like, that's what it's supposed to look like.
- 28:12Speaker 4: And even their bad games. I was about to say,
- 28:14Speaker 4: it's more consistent.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Like, even their bad games look a little bit more
- 28:18Speaker 2: consistent than, man, the Chargers and Herbert just did not
- 28:22Speaker 2: show up at all against a bad. The Cardinals are
- 28:25Speaker 2: not good. Like, Trey McBride is maybe the best tight
- 28:28Speaker 2: end in the NFL.
- 28:29Speaker 4: He's awesome.
- 28:31Speaker 3: They've got some weapons.
- 28:32Speaker 4: They do.
- 28:32Speaker 2: I mean, but they're not a good football team overall. Now,
- 28:36Speaker 2: they're better than they were last year when they won
- 28:38Speaker 2: three games. But, yeah, that's a weekend loser there, Bo. Yeah,
- 28:42Speaker 2: for sure.
- 28:42Speaker 3: I do have another couple of winners.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Okay.
- 28:47Speaker 3: I'll give two real quick. The Chicago Bears scored the
- 28:50Speaker 3: second most points. A week one NFL history.
- 28:53Speaker 2: That was a fun game for a long time. And
- 28:55Speaker 2: then they pulled away. But, like, Bryce Young was going.
- 28:57Speaker 3: So, Bryce Young. I felt real good about that nice
- 29:00Speaker 3: good card I got of Bryce Young's. You started, like,
- 29:03Speaker 3: thinking about selling it right then? Well, I got some offers.
- 29:05Speaker 3: And I held off with some offers in the offseason.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Just thinking, like, if he just plays decent.
- 29:09Speaker 4: Yeah, he played well.
- 29:10Speaker 3: No, he did. He did play well. But that offense
- 29:12Speaker 3: is going to be a problem. Everybody in the NFC North.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Should be worried about the Chicago Bears now. But I
- 29:19Speaker 3: want to give another weekend winner to most of the
- 29:22Speaker 3: first-year coaches in their new spots in the NFL. Six
- 29:26Speaker 3: teams with a new coach, a first-year coach, got the win.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Joe Brady with the Bills, Jesse Minter with the Ravens,
- 29:33Speaker 3: Mike McCarthy and the Steelers, Mike LaFleur with the Cardinals,
- 29:36Speaker 3: Clint Kubiak with the Raiders, and John Harbaugh with the Giants. Now,
- 29:40Speaker 3: there was four new coaches that did not get the wins, Stefanski, Munkin, Halfley,
- 29:44Speaker 3: and Robert Sala. But shout-out Sala. I feel like six
- 29:48Speaker 3: is a pretty good number for a first-year head coach.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Ten new head coaches is wild in a 32-team league.
- 29:54Speaker 3: It is wild.
- 29:55Speaker 4: By the way, the Jets look much better. I mean,
- 29:58Speaker 4: they played the Titans, but.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Not going to get there.
- 30:01Speaker 2: They played a lot better. Not going to get where?
- 30:04Speaker 3: To where I'm saying the Jets are.
- 30:06Speaker 2: They played well.
- 30:06Speaker 4: I mean, they signed a lot of people in the offseason.
- 30:09Speaker 2: They better be good. They drafted well.
- 30:11Speaker 3: They got a billion first-round picks.
- 30:13Speaker 2: They do.
- 30:15Speaker 4: We've seen a lot of teams mess up first-round picks.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Todd Monken didn't look very good, actually.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Oh, the Browns.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Todd Monken, you're not going to make it long, bud,
- 30:22Speaker 3: if you keep Deshaun Watson in. And that's not just
- 30:24Speaker 3: because he might be the best quarterback on your team.
- 30:27Speaker 3: On your roster. But you've got to read the room.
- 30:29Speaker 3: You've got to judge the temperature from the fan base
- 30:32Speaker 3: as well.
- 30:32Speaker 4: He took five sacks yesterday.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Nobody wants him to play. He's a shell of himself.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:37Speaker 3: And nobody wants him to play. And, again, he might
- 30:40Speaker 3: be the best quarterback on your roster. You've got to
- 30:42Speaker 3: pull him or you're going to lose your job.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Yeah, that was as bad as the team was this weekend.
- 30:47Speaker 4: That was rough to watch.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 30:51Speaker 3: And I was on our fantasy league, the one where
- 30:53Speaker 3: you beat me. And I auto-drafted. And it was starting
- 30:57Speaker 3: the Browns' defense. And I was like, nah, this can't happen.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Did you play with them?
- 31:02Speaker 3: No. I cut them immediately.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Who did you pick up?
- 31:05Speaker 3: Who did the Browns play? Whoever they did.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Jacksonville.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Jacksonville. They didn't have their defense.
- 31:08Speaker 4: Well, it didn't really matter because you still caught these hands.
- 31:11Speaker 3: I still got one guy playing that I can come back.
- 31:13Speaker 3: He can score 38 points. Beat you.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Who is it?
- 31:17Speaker 3: Someone good.
- 31:18Speaker 2: He's going to score 38? I don't have anybody left.
- 31:21Speaker 3: He's got a shot.
- 31:24Speaker 2: I got to. As I like to say, I bet
- 31:26Speaker 2: a chance of pissing in a hot sauce bottle.
- 31:27Speaker 3: I got Kenneth Walker.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:29Speaker 4: He's not going to get.
- 31:30Speaker 3: He might.
- 31:31Speaker 4: He's not getting 38.
- 31:32Speaker 3: You know, they're going to feed him, feature him.
- 31:37Speaker 2: You know the best part about what I just did?
- 31:39Speaker 2: I was giving a line about pissing in a hot
- 31:40Speaker 2: sauce bottle, and I'm pretty sure somebody from the alumni
- 31:43Speaker 2: was taking a video to post.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Definitely. Hopefully they caught you.
- 31:48Speaker 4: I hope that makes the final cut.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Hopefully they caught you when you're pronouncing the double S's.
- 31:57Speaker 4: Look, it's a great line from White Chocolate, Jason Williams.
- 32:00Speaker 4: I steal it often. Anyways, we'll take a break.
- 32:02Speaker 2: More OTB when we come back here live from U Club.

- 32:43Speaker 3: They got the best technology around. So if you work
- 32:45Speaker 3: in an office, you run an office, maybe you own

- 32:51Speaker 3: whatever it is. It can be a one-person office. In
- 32:53Speaker 3: that Cajun basement, in that office above the garage, it

- 33:29Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 33:42Speaker 6: All right, welcome back in OTB here live from the
- 33:46Speaker 6: LSU Alumni Golf Tournament in U Club. Jake Flynn moves
- 33:50Speaker 6: here with Yolanda Tate back in studio.
- 33:53Speaker 4: In downtown Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge, the capital city, Matt.
- 33:56Speaker 3: It is the capital city here in Louisiana.
- 33:59Speaker 2: All right, so if I got a me thinks into
- 34:01Speaker 2: the broadcast, what's going to be the new challenge? So
- 34:03Speaker 2: I've already gotten capital city. I've got me thinks. We're
- 34:06Speaker 2: going to be on the road, going to be in
- 34:08Speaker 2: the booth in Oxford. Do we need to raise the stakes.
- 34:11Speaker 4: A little bit?
- 34:12Speaker 2: Yeah, probably.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Published Arter.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Ooh. That was going to be tough to get into
- 34:19Speaker 2: a broadcast, just like to find my way, you know,
- 34:22Speaker 2: to a writer.
- 34:23Speaker 3: You could call Sarkeesian a douche.
- 34:29Speaker 4: I don't know that that plays into playing Ole Miss either.
- 34:33Speaker 3: See, that's why it'd be unexpected.
- 34:36Speaker 4: I got it.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Okay. Whenever I get the starting lineup, I got to
- 34:41Speaker 2: drop at least two Brad's and Chad's.
- 34:43Speaker 3: Oh, that'll be super easy, actually.
- 34:46Speaker 2: That'll be too easy?
- 34:49Speaker 3: The odds of you even making it to the broadcast
- 34:51Speaker 3: booth are against you anyway because you're going to get
- 34:55Speaker 3: in a fight out in the tailgating. Did you see
- 35:00Speaker 3: the clips coming out from the Grove this past weekend?
- 35:04Speaker 3: So many fighting each other. Fighting each other. Sorority girls
- 35:07Speaker 3: fighting each other. It's a mess over there. You don't
- 35:11Speaker 3: think they're going to be out ready? Well, I don't
- 35:14Speaker 3: have to go. They better get the National Guard ready.
- 35:19Speaker 3: It's going down for real this weekend.
- 35:22Speaker 2: I don't go to the Grove. I travel with the team.
- 35:25Speaker 2: So we go from wherever the team is staying on
- 35:27Speaker 2: a bus. We pull right up to the stadium and
- 35:30Speaker 2: go right into the locker room slash field slash broadcast booth,
- 35:34Speaker 2: which I appreciate it that way. I don't need to
- 35:36Speaker 2: be out there.
- 35:36Speaker 3: I don't need a chandelier in the tailgate.
- 35:40Speaker 4: Don't need all that. Don't want all that.
- 35:42Speaker 2: But I have told you to kind of get to
- 35:45Speaker 2: the broadcast booth.
- 35:46Speaker 4: You do go through the people. You go through the crowd.
- 35:49Speaker 2: And you know me. I'm going to be purple all day.
- 35:51Speaker 2: head to toe. This is not a good thing. I'm
- 35:55Speaker 2: not saying it is a good thing, but I do
- 35:56Speaker 2: thrive in confrontation.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:59Speaker 4: So that's what you're saying, I won't make it.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Might be Chris Blair solo.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Just kidding.
- 36:06Speaker 3: You're fine.
- 36:07Speaker 2: I'll be fine.
- 36:09Speaker 3: I'm sure it'll be super calm and tame there this weekend.
- 36:12Speaker 4: I don't know what to expect. I really don't.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Because I didn't go to the game when Saban came
- 36:17Speaker 2: back to LSU. We were both playing you know, on Sundays,
- 36:21Speaker 2: and so we weren't here for that game. So I
- 36:23Speaker 2: don't know what that was like. But I think whatever
- 36:25Speaker 2: that was, and I'm sure it was intense, I'm sure
- 36:27Speaker 2: it was crazy because there's a lot more people, obviously,
- 36:30Speaker 2: that go to LSU games than Ole Miss with stadium capacity,
- 36:33Speaker 2: the whole deal.
- 36:34Speaker 4: But, like, with the Internet being a thing and.
- 36:37Speaker 2: Social media being more of a thing, like, I don't
- 36:39Speaker 2: know what to expect. Like, I'm expecting the worst, I guess.
- 36:42Speaker 2: This is going to be worse than that.
- 36:44Speaker 3: I mean, at least when Saban came back to– LSU,
- 36:47Speaker 3: it was his second year, so it wasn't quite as fresh.
- 36:50Speaker 3: The wound wasn't so fresh. And he didn't leave LSU
- 36:55Speaker 3: to go to Bama. This is all of that, but, like,
- 37:00Speaker 3: on steroids.
- 37:03Speaker 4: I think so, too.
- 37:04Speaker 3: And Saban wasn't painted the villain by everybody else in
- 37:07Speaker 3: the country.
- 37:08Speaker 5: True.
- 37:08Speaker 2: You know?
- 37:08Speaker 3: It's going to be fun. I'm looking forward to seeing
- 37:14Speaker 3: the videos.
- 37:15Speaker 4: You should come.
- 37:17Speaker 3: For what?
- 37:18Speaker 2: To see it for yourself.
- 37:22Speaker 3: No, I can't do that. Girls start soccer season now.
- 37:27Speaker 3: So we got, of course, games middle of the day
- 37:29Speaker 3: Saturday and a game middle of the day Sunday as well.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Just like you love it.
- 37:34Speaker 4: Draw it up, baby.
- 37:35Speaker 3: 1 p.m. every Sunday. We got six-year-old soccer, baby. Started
- 37:41Speaker 3: off the season hot yesterday, 1-0. Not a big deal.
- 37:45Speaker 3: On Saturdays, midday. Now, that time changes between 9 a.m.
- 37:50Speaker 3: and I think 2.30.
- 37:51Speaker 2: You know, the good thing is there's a lot of
- 37:54Speaker 2: shade at Burbank, too.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Dude, it was like I was trying to sit down.
- 37:59Speaker 3: It was too hot to sit down yesterday.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Had to keep moving.
- 38:02Speaker 3: I had to keep moving. It was awful.
- 38:04Speaker 2: It was terrible.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Yeah, and no, there's not a lot of shade.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:09Speaker 3: I got one of those chairs that has the shade
- 38:11Speaker 3: thing that pops up over you, but the screws weren't tightened,
- 38:14Speaker 3: so it kept falling down. Wasn't great. Wasn't great.
- 38:22Speaker 2: You got to prepare better, bud. I know. We do
- 38:25Speaker 2: have our flag football games on Sundays. This one was
- 38:28Speaker 2: at 530.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Yep.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Like I told you, at least that charger, team one.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Yep.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I'm not going to be able to see a lot
- 38:34Speaker 3: of Saints games live because they're going to play at
- 38:37Speaker 3: noon most games.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 38:41Speaker 3: Not a lot of flex to 335 or a lot
- 38:43Speaker 3: of night games. Yeah. They might catch an Amazon game
- 38:46Speaker 3: at some point.
- 38:47Speaker 2: They have one primetime game this year so far, unless
- 38:50Speaker 2: they get flexed out. But again, Saints, good team on
- 38:53Speaker 2: the road. Actually had multiple chances to win the game.
- 38:57Speaker 2: So it's encouraging for the New Orleans Saints. Again, you
- 39:01Speaker 2: were a seven-point dog. Not only did you cover, you
- 39:04Speaker 2: put the fear of God in them. You had them wondering.
- 39:07Speaker 2: And now you've got to go do it again because
- 39:09Speaker 2: you've got the Baltimore Ravens who looked really good as well.
- 39:12Speaker 3: The Ravens looked very good. First-year head coach, Lamar Jackson.
- 39:17Speaker 3: Seemed like playing under center some. They were a fun watch. Now,
- 39:22Speaker 3: I didn't lock into the whole game, but I would
- 39:23Speaker 3: kind of see the highlights here and there. I'd turn
- 39:27Speaker 3: it to their game for a little bit. They're a
- 39:29Speaker 3: good team. So, the Saints have their hands full. It
- 39:31Speaker 3: would have been real nice to steal that one in
- 39:33Speaker 3: Detroit this past weekend. But, look, a lot to be
- 39:36Speaker 3: excited about for Saints fans and for the Saints. You
- 39:38Speaker 3: got your second-year quarterback throwing for, you know, damn near
- 39:41Speaker 3: 400 yards in the second half. So, it's– quite the
- 39:46Speaker 3: difference there was. And you're right. The first half, he
- 39:48Speaker 3: was probably getting his feet on him. Looked like a
- 39:50Speaker 3: quarterback that hadn't played much football in eight months. So
- 39:56Speaker 3: get the bad plays out of the way, but come
- 39:57Speaker 3: back in the second half. He just kind of has
- 40:00Speaker 3: that it factor a little bit. He does. And it's
- 40:04Speaker 3: hard to explain what it is. That's why it's the
- 40:06Speaker 3: it factor. You can't explain it. And just one of
- 40:09Speaker 3: those things where when the game is on the line,
- 40:11Speaker 3: when the back's against the wall, everybody when he's in
- 40:14Speaker 3: seems to execute they seem to elevate their play he
- 40:19Speaker 3: seems to elevate his play certainly his decision making gets
- 40:22Speaker 3: into that rhythm gets into that the zone as you
- 40:25Speaker 3: know people like to call it hard to explain what
- 40:27Speaker 3: the zone is but yeah he just elevates everybody around
- 40:30Speaker 3: him and we saw it last year leading led the
- 40:33Speaker 3: NFL and QBR in the fourth quarter whatever it was
- 40:36Speaker 3: and third down conversion so like when when the backs
- 40:39Speaker 3: against the wall is when he seems to play his.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Best yeah I agree with you and again I think
- 40:44Speaker 2: a lot of The first half struggles were because he
- 40:47Speaker 2: didn't have any real time in the preseason. I think
- 40:50Speaker 2: that matters. And so as he settled in, he only
- 40:52Speaker 2: got better. He elevates the play of those around him.
- 40:55Speaker 2: And we always knew this was going to be a
- 40:57Speaker 2: tough start for the New Orleans Saints going on the
- 40:59Speaker 2: road against two likely playoff teams in Detroit and Baltimore. Now, remember,
- 41:04Speaker 2: we always said if you stole one of those games,
- 41:08Speaker 2: if you stole one of those games, after that you
- 41:11Speaker 2: would have the Raiders and the Falcons.
- 41:13Speaker 3: All right.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Those are two very winnable games.
- 41:15Speaker 2: And so, you know, your hope was that you could
- 41:17Speaker 2: be three and one as you had to take on
- 41:20Speaker 2: the Minnesota Vikings. But still a lot to like from
- 41:23Speaker 2: the New Orleans Saints. Certainly a lot to like from
- 41:25Speaker 2: their quarterback. This feels so much better than it did.
- 41:29Speaker 2: A year ago, you cleaned some things up. And in
- 41:32Speaker 2: the first half, you cleaned some things up. I mean,
- 41:33Speaker 2: there was four or five plays that if that one
- 41:36Speaker 2: play goes your way, you win the game, including a
- 41:38Speaker 2: fumble that wasn't a fumble. All right, we will step away. Again,
- 41:42Speaker 2: we are live here at U Club for the LSU
- 41:45Speaker 2: Alumni Golf Tournament.
- 41:46Speaker 4: We'll be back here on OTB.

- 42:58Speaker 1: Off the bench with Hester and Flynn presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 43:03Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in. OTB here live from the
- 43:07Speaker 3: LSU Alumni Golf Tournament out at U Club. We've got
- 43:10Speaker 3: a couple of former Tigers walking around, our guy Will Helmers.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Got a chance to see him. He's over there. He's
- 43:31Speaker 2: ready to play.
- 43:32Speaker 3: It is the LSU Alumni Association, so everyone's a former Tiger.
- 43:36Speaker 4: Probably not. Probably actually not.
- 43:40Speaker 2: But that's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Star guy Justin Vincent,
- 43:45Speaker 2: he was walking by as well. The real star of
- 43:48Speaker 2: the show, Blaine Besch. I mean, that guy's walking around.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Big football coach.
- 43:52Speaker 4: Big football coach, Blaine Besch. Yeah, we got your signals too, Blaine.
- 43:57Speaker 2: We know them.
- 43:58Speaker 4: Don't get mad.
- 44:00Speaker 2: He got mad at me a couple years ago.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Yeah, we know when you're calling quarters.
- 44:04Speaker 2: He was calling the offense, and he was giving signals.
- 44:08Speaker 2: And I recorded him giving signals and said, Blaine, I
- 44:11Speaker 2: got your signals.
- 44:12Speaker 3: You counter-stallioned him?
- 44:13Speaker 2: He didn't like it very much.
- 44:14Speaker 4: I didn't give it to him. It's middle school football.
- 44:17Speaker 4: I could tell the team what was coming.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Did you dress up in a St. George assistant coach outfit?
- 44:23Speaker 4: No, I actually had Harlow, I think, on my shoulders.
- 44:25Speaker 4: It was that easy.
- 44:29Speaker 2: He didn't find it too funny, I don't think, though.
- 44:31Speaker 2: But it's like I could tell them what's coming and
- 44:33Speaker 2: they wouldn't know. It is pretty funny. It's middle school football.
- 44:36Speaker 2: I know.
- 44:37Speaker 3: I was watching, like, I went and watched Catholic play
- 44:40Speaker 3: or Dunham go and play Catholic.
- 44:42Speaker 5: Ooh.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Well, it's not a great game. But it was funny
- 44:45Speaker 3: watching the sidelines and watching hand signals and stuff in
- 44:47Speaker 3: high school.
- 44:48Speaker 2: It was pretty funny.
- 44:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:49Speaker 2: How quickly you probably got them?
- 44:51Speaker 3: About three and a half plays.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I didn't have a good time in
- 44:59Speaker 2: that stadium on Thursday night either.
- 45:00Speaker 3: So that was my first time in the stadium in Memorial.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Did you bring a chair? I didn't bring a chair.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Whoops.
- 45:06Speaker 3: I got to tell you, not comfy.
- 45:08Speaker 2: No, can we get, if that's going to be the
- 45:11Speaker 2: stadium for the city, can we get like a different,
- 45:13Speaker 2: can we get some bleachers or something in there? I mean,
- 45:17Speaker 2: as much as we love the hot concrete that's there,
- 45:21Speaker 2: you know. Yeah.
- 45:22Speaker 4: Just saying.
- 45:23Speaker 3: No, it's, no, it's a, yeah. First time, no, it's a,
- 45:27Speaker 3: cool them if you're playing they're probably cool venue but
- 45:30Speaker 3: like i don't know how those lights are legal there's
- 45:34Speaker 3: like a lumens that you got to hit i feel
- 45:36Speaker 3: like to be able to play it is dark tackle
- 45:39Speaker 3: football it is very dark on that field passes misjudging
- 45:42Speaker 3: i'm like well no no crap like there is no
- 45:45Speaker 3: lights out here yeah how are you supposed to play
- 45:47Speaker 3: football yeah that's a safety hazard it is really dark
- 45:50Speaker 3: get a light get some more like if you had
- 45:52Speaker 3: one like We've got to do it in our factory,
- 45:54Speaker 3: carry around different manufacturing parts. You've got to hit a
- 45:56Speaker 3: certain amount of lumens for food safety reasons. This is
- 45:59Speaker 3: just brain safety out there. Get some lights out there.
- 46:04Speaker 2: It's so funny because as soon as you said it,
- 46:05Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, it is really dark out there. It
- 46:07Speaker 2: is so dark.
- 46:07Speaker 4: It makes a lot of sense.
- 46:09Speaker 3: So there's not supposed to be shadows on a football field.
- 46:11Speaker 3: There are long shadows on both sides, and they're facing
- 46:13Speaker 3: each other because the lights aren't powerful from one side
- 46:16Speaker 3: to hit the other side of the field.
- 46:17Speaker 4: Yeah, there's enough teams that play there, too. Pass the hat.
- 46:19Speaker 4: Get some new lights. What are we doing? It's a
- 46:22Speaker 4: safety issue.
- 46:23Speaker 2: It is safety. Yeah, it's funny.
- 46:25Speaker 3: Get your lumens up.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Get your lumens up. All right, now we are going
- 46:30Speaker 2: to step away. We've got another hour coming your way.
- 46:33Speaker 2: We'll dive back into LSU, and we'll review, we'll preview,
- 46:36Speaker 2: and we'll do.
- 46:36Speaker 4: It right here on OTB.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Off the bench.
- 46:40Speaker 4: All right, if you're looking to.
