- 0:00Speaker 1: Toby and Chili mornings on demand on 97.1 Wash FM.
- 0:05Speaker 2: You feeling good this morning? I hope so. How are
- 0:08Speaker 2: you doing? 866-927-4361 and welcome to 97.1 Wash FM on
- 0:11Speaker 2: a Tuesday. We're Toby and Chili in the morning. So, Chili,
- 0:18Speaker 2: why are you feeling good this morning? Because mine's a
- 0:20Speaker 2: little bit involved.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Okay. Yeah, I'm feeling good because I made enough dinner
- 0:25Speaker 3: last night that we have leftovers for this evening. And
- 0:29Speaker 3: I don't have to make dinner twice.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Can't beat that.
- 0:32Speaker 3: There you go. That's why I'm feeling good. Why are
- 0:33Speaker 3: you feeling good?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Well, I'm feeling good that my building did not catch
- 0:38Speaker 2: fire last evening. But I am a little salty and
- 0:42Speaker 2: dragging because the fire alarms... set themselves off last night
- 0:47Speaker 2: for whatever reason. I shouldn't say they set themselves off.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Somebody somewhere in some other apartment did, but it was
- 0:52Speaker 2: in my building and you can hear it. And when
- 0:56Speaker 2: it goes on for a little while, it triggers the
- 0:58Speaker 2: entire complex. You know what I mean?
- 1:00Speaker 3: You had to evacuate.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Well, fortunately it stopped at about the time I got
- 1:06Speaker 2: myself up and said, this ain't ending anytime soon.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Wait, why would you have waited any amount of time?
- 1:11Speaker 2: Because I thought it was like somebody that set off
- 1:14Speaker 2: their alarm while cooking food. Because, you know, like we
- 1:17Speaker 2: go to bed a little bit earlier than most people.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but wouldn't that be alarming that somebody's fire alarm
- 1:22Speaker 3: is going off?
- 1:23Speaker 2: I mean, technically, I gave them the benefit of the doubt.
- 1:26Speaker 2: They could still have been up.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Like wave a pillow or something? Is that what you're
- 1:30Speaker 3: hoping that they'll do?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yes, I was hoping they would wave a pillow at
- 1:33Speaker 2: the alarm. You know, like if I burn something in
- 1:35Speaker 2: the oven, that happens at times.
- 1:37Speaker 3: But that doesn't usually set the whole building off.
- 1:39Speaker 2: No, I know. But it just went on for a
- 1:41Speaker 2: long time. And there have been some people who've moved in.
- 1:43Speaker 2: So maybe they didn't realize how to, you know, manage
- 1:49Speaker 2: such things. But anyway, nonetheless, it went off. The building
- 1:52Speaker 2: didn't burn down. And that's a good thing. And well,
- 1:55Speaker 2: I didn't like succumb to any smoke or fire inhalation
- 1:58Speaker 2: because I don't think there was any. I just think
- 1:59Speaker 2: it was somebody cooked something the wrong way. But it
- 2:03Speaker 2: woke me up. And then I had trouble falling back asleep.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But then ultimately I did and only to have the alarm.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Go off again and wake me up. Alarms. They seem
- 2:12Speaker 2: to be a thing in my world recently. It's 97.1
- 2:16Speaker 2: Wash FM, but there's always a good side to something,
- 2:19Speaker 2: to everything. What's yours? You know where to find us
- 2:22Speaker 2: in the meantime. Let's hope that the news has some
- 2:24Speaker 2: good stuff in it. Top stories at the top of
- 2:27Speaker 2: the hour. Chili, what's going on?
- 2:28Speaker 3: If you're over 40 and you're dating, I'm going to
- 2:31Speaker 3: tell you what people are judging your home for when
- 2:35Speaker 3: they come over for the first time.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Federal agents searched Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's D.C. area home yesterday morning.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Multiple sources say that it's tied to an investigation into
- 2:50Speaker 3: her immigration paperwork, but she has denied the allegations. A
- 2:54Speaker 3: man has died and at least four others were injured
- 2:56Speaker 3: after an incident involving the Goliath roller coaster at Six
- 3:00Speaker 3: Flags over Georgia yesterday. And the cause is now under investigation.
- 3:05Speaker 3: A federal judge temporarily halted tree removal at Tomic Golf
- 3:10Speaker 3: Course in D.C. Preservationists say that crews had cut down
- 3:14Speaker 3: more than 400 trees over the weekend. Two Prince George's
- 3:18Speaker 3: County council members are calling for independent audits of two
- 3:21Speaker 3: nonprofits that received millions in county grant funding. The request
- 3:26Speaker 3: involves organizations that are connected to council chair Crystal Oriata
- 3:31Speaker 3: and council member Edward Burroughs. A Prince George's County mother
- 3:35Speaker 3: says that her 10th grade son was robbed of his
- 3:37Speaker 3: shoes at gunpoint near Bowie High School after dismissal on
- 3:42Speaker 3: October 8th. The school says no one was hurt and
- 3:45Speaker 3: Bowie City Police are now investigating. Actress Selma Blair was
- 3:50Speaker 3: arrested after an alleged incident on a Delta flight from L.A.
- 3:53Speaker 3: to New York. She's accused of assaulting two flight attendants
- 3:57Speaker 3: and trying to open the plane door mid-flight. Her representative
- 4:01Speaker 3: says that she experienced a medical emergency. And a new
- 4:05Speaker 3: survey finds that singles over the age of 40 are
- 4:08Speaker 3: definitely judging your home when they go on a date
- 4:10Speaker 3: with you. Half say that a messy, dirty space gives
- 4:15Speaker 3: them the ick right away. And the biggest turnoffs? Overall
- 4:19Speaker 3: cleanliness and clutter. followed by bad smells. Forecast for today,
- 4:24Speaker 3: sunny skies with highs around 82, right now 55 in Bethesda.
- 4:28Speaker 2: And that is the news. Top stories at the top
- 4:30Speaker 2: of the hour here at 97.1 Wash FM. If you're
- 4:34Speaker 2: feeling some sort of way because, let's see, Maryland, Virginia,
- 4:39Speaker 2: and the district are three places, three of the 20
- 4:42Speaker 2: places where yesterday was a federal holiday and now you
- 4:46Speaker 2: got to shake it off and get back into the
- 4:47Speaker 2: swing of things. Well, we feel you. And you might
- 4:52Speaker 2: need a little help to get going today. So your
- 4:55Speaker 2: morning mindset. Hopefully it'll do just that. Hang out. And
- 5:00Speaker 2: it is time now for your morning mindset here at
- 5:05Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM. We're Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Just finding us for the first time. Well. Here, we'll
- 5:10Speaker 2: explain what this is.
- 5:11Speaker 3: We find a quote and share it with you in
- 5:13Speaker 3: hopes it inspires you, maybe even motivates you as you
- 5:17Speaker 3: take on the rest of your day.
- 5:18Speaker 2: And on this Tuesday, we look to the words of
- 5:20Speaker 2: an inspiration who knows the thing about not regretting the
- 5:25Speaker 2: risks and chances that she's taken in life, Simone Biles,
- 5:29Speaker 2: who says, quotes, I'd rather regret the risks that didn't
- 5:34Speaker 2: work out than the chances I didn't take at all.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Simone Biles. I'd rather regret the risks that didn't work
- 5:42Speaker 2: out than the chances that I didn't take at all.
- 5:46Speaker 2: So why does this mean everything to us today? Well,
- 5:49Speaker 2: it's because we spend a lot of time trying to
- 5:51Speaker 2: protect ourselves, especially when it comes to what we think
- 5:53Speaker 2: might be the wrong decision. But the other regret that
- 5:57Speaker 2: nobody talks about as much is wondering what would have
- 6:01Speaker 2: happened had you gone for it. Maybe take that chance today,
- 6:06Speaker 2: despite what other people may think. do to try to
- 6:10Speaker 2: talk you out of it it's your life not theirs
- 6:13Speaker 2: you know keep that in mind some mobiles with your
- 6:16Speaker 2: morning mindset and if you've got something you want to
- 6:18Speaker 2: share with the class toby and chili page wash fm.com
- 6:22Speaker 2: and don't forget you can find us inspiring you socially
- 6:27Speaker 2: speaking that is on insta facebook and all the things
- 6:31Speaker 2: Stay with Toby and Chili in the morning because in
- 6:33Speaker 2: just minutes on this Tuesday.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Well, the holiday season is going to be here before
- 6:37Speaker 3: you know it. And the hottest toy of the season
- 6:41Speaker 3: is very cheeky, so to speak.
- 6:44Speaker 2: No pun intended. Hey, did you see the Christmas book
- 6:49Speaker 2: from Amazon, which came in the mail last week? It's
- 6:54Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM. Toby and Chili in the morning. Oh,
- 6:56Speaker 2: I did. And then I looked around online and you
- 6:59Speaker 2: know what I saw, Chili? I saw something hilarious. The
- 7:02Speaker 2: number one toy on Amazon right now. Is a toy
- 7:05Speaker 2: that is called Chester Cheeks. And like you said earlier,
- 7:10Speaker 2: it is quite cheeky.
- 7:12Speaker 3: And well, why don't you just go ahead and listen
- 7:14Speaker 3: to give you an idea of what it's all about?
- 7:16Speaker 4: It's Chester Cheeks. Always up to cheeky tricks.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Chester Cheeks by Goliath. For the record, that was heavily
- 7:25Speaker 2: edited for content because the truth is nobody needs to
- 7:29Speaker 2: hear all of that gaseousness in the morning.
- 7:31Speaker 3: That's true. Now, this is a toy that's shaped like
- 7:33Speaker 3: a giant wiggling bottom and it wears headphones. It's operated
- 7:37Speaker 3: with batteries. Squeezing or stretching Chester's cheek sets off gas
- 7:42Speaker 3: fart noises. Why is this even a thing?
- 7:46Speaker 2: Well, first of all, you have a son and a husband.
- 7:50Speaker 3: And you think fart jokes never get old.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Boys will be boys. Okay. You know what I mean.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Here's the thing. It is marketed for kids four and older.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Know that a bunch of adults are probably buying this
- 8:05Speaker 3: as gag gifts or white elephant gifts this season and
- 8:09Speaker 3: somebody will display it and play with it on their
- 8:11Speaker 3: desks somewhere.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Guilty as charged. I did that a couple of years
- 8:15Speaker 2: back when they had the fart blaster. Bought it. It's
- 8:18Speaker 2: still in the box.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Great.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Just in case anybody wants it as a Christmas gift,
- 8:21Speaker 2: I'm open to negotiate.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Okay, well you can add Chester Cheeks to your fart blaster.
- 8:28Speaker 2: This is going to be, according to reason and belief
- 8:31Speaker 2: and the people who speculate, the toy of the season.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I can't believe that we've come to this point.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Well, I can't actually. Nothing surprises me anymore, Toby.
- 8:41Speaker 2: That's true. Boys will be boys and fart jokes will
- 8:44Speaker 2: be fart jokes.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Oh, my goodness.
- 8:46Speaker 2: No matter when. Go on and get one for somebody
- 8:49Speaker 2: close in your life. Hours of endless entertainment. See more.
- 8:52Speaker 2: The Chubby and Chili page. Washfm.com. Need the news? Hang out.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Top stories at the top of the hour. Right around 610. Chili,
- 8:59Speaker 2: what are you working on?
- 9:00Speaker 3: When it comes to Halloween, do you think it's more
- 9:03Speaker 3: for kids or for grownups? I'm going to share with
- 9:07Speaker 3: you the surprising findings of a recent survey.
- 9:12Speaker 2: People who love Journey. You're not going to want to
- 9:15Speaker 2: wander too far away from 97.1 Wash FM. We're Toby
- 9:20Speaker 2: and Chili in the morning, and you are literally minutes away.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Right after 610's Toby and Chili's Top Stories, we're going

- 9:27Speaker 3: Journey when they come to town.

- 9:33Speaker 2: them in minutes. Don't go anywhere.
- 9:35Speaker 1: 97.1 WASH FM, Washington. an iHeartRadio station. Coming up on
- 9:41Speaker 1: Top Stories, top of the hour.
- 9:43Speaker 3: One person has died and at least four others were
- 9:46Speaker 3: injured after an incident on a roller coaster at Six
- 9:49Speaker 3: Flags in Georgia. We've got the latest on that story
- 9:52Speaker 3: and others on the way with Toby and Chili in
- 9:55Speaker 3: the morning on 97.1 Wash FM.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar says that yesterday morning's federal search
- 10:07Speaker 3: of her D.C. area home is a politically motivated smear campaign.
- 10:11Speaker 3: That search was reportedly tied to an investigation into her
- 10:15Speaker 3: immigration paperwork. One person has died and at least four
- 10:18Speaker 3: others were injured after an incident on the Goliath roller
- 10:21Speaker 3: coaster at Six Flags over Georgia yesterday. The ride was
- 10:25Speaker 3: evacuated and the cause is under investigation. One man has
- 10:29Speaker 3: died after a suspected overdose in Wheaton. Three men were
- 10:33Speaker 3: taken to the hospital last night after they were found
- 10:36Speaker 3: at the Wheaton Metro Station. Montgomery County police say they
- 10:39Speaker 3: will release additional information when it becomes available. A federal
- 10:44Speaker 3: judge has ordered an immediate halt to all the tree
- 10:47Speaker 3: cutting at East Potomac Golf Links after more than 400
- 10:51Speaker 3: trees were removed over the weekend. The judge is also
- 10:54Speaker 3: demanding sworn testimony from an Interior Department official who reportedly
- 10:58Speaker 3: ordered the work. The University of Maryland's club tennis team
- 11:02Speaker 3: has been suspended indefinitely after Howard University's team found an
- 11:07Speaker 3: image of KKK hoods in tournament materials. Police and the
- 11:12Speaker 3: school's student conduct office are investigating. A new survey finds
- 11:17Speaker 3: that 70% of adults think Halloween is just as much
- 11:21Speaker 3: for grownups as it is for kids. But 62% say
- 11:24Speaker 3: the perfect way to celebrate Halloween is by staying home.
- 11:27Speaker 3: More than half call Halloween their favorite holiday. And 58%
- 11:31Speaker 3: say it should actually be a national holiday. Forecast for today,
- 11:36Speaker 3: lots of sunshine, going to feel like summer with highs
- 11:38Speaker 3: around 82.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Right now, 55 in Burke. Don't forget, next news right
- 11:43Speaker 2: around 7-10. Top stories at the top of the hour, 97.1.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Wash FM on. Would you like to go see Journey?
- 11:52Speaker 2: Call our 10 right now.
- 11:55Speaker 5: 866-927-4361.
- 11:56Speaker 2: That's the number. Be caller 10, and the tickets to
- 12:00Speaker 2: Journey are yours. It is that easy to win this
- 12:03Speaker 2: early in the morning with 97.1.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Wash FM.
- 12:07Speaker 2: You will not believe what people are building into their homes.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Toby and Tilly in the morning. It is 97.1 Wash FM.
- 12:16Speaker 2: If you stay right there, you'll find out. In the
- 12:19Speaker 2: home improvement game, there is a dark horse which has
- 12:22Speaker 2: emerged out of nowhere that people are talking about. It's
- 12:26Speaker 2: been all over the internet. Perhaps maybe you've seen. Toby
- 12:28Speaker 2: and Chili in the morning, 97.1 Wash FM. But Chili,
- 12:31Speaker 2: of all the things you could do to bring up
- 12:32Speaker 2: the property value, who knew that building a special door
- 12:36Speaker 2: for unloading Costco stuff into the house would be one
- 12:41Speaker 2: of them?
- 12:41Speaker 3: Well, they're dubbed Costco doors, but I guess in theory
- 12:43Speaker 3: you could use it for any sort of grocery haul. Sure.
- 12:46Speaker 3: They're small pass-through doors that are being built into the
- 12:51Speaker 3: garage that connects it directly to a pantry or kitchen
- 12:54Speaker 3: on the other side. So these are like two by two.
- 12:57Speaker 3: They're not that big of an opening. You kind of
- 12:59Speaker 3: open it up and you just put all your bulk
- 13:01Speaker 3: items right directly into the kitchen or to the pantry
- 13:04Speaker 3: so that it makes, I guess, putting stuff away easier.
- 13:07Speaker 2: You don't have to haul it through the house. You know,
- 13:09Speaker 2: some people, they have their garage on a ground level.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Then they got to go up some stairs. Then they
- 13:14Speaker 2: got to go over to the pantry room. But this
- 13:16Speaker 2: whole thing precludes that you have a pantry adjacent to
- 13:20Speaker 2: the garage.
- 13:20Speaker 4: That's right.
- 13:21Speaker 3: You would have to automatically have a very convenient thing
- 13:25Speaker 3: on the other side of the wall.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Or else you're going to knock out some walls and
- 13:29Speaker 2: knock out some other stuff to make some room for
- 13:31Speaker 2: one of these Costco doors.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Our garage doors in the neighborhood, they, when you open
- 13:35Speaker 3: it up, it already automatically kind of almost right into
- 13:39Speaker 3: the kitchen area. So this is not something that I
- 13:42Speaker 3: would look at doing. And by the way, carrying that
- 13:44Speaker 3: stuff is good workout. You shouldn't have to try to.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Yeah. So many corners. Or if you have like a,
- 13:49Speaker 2: you know, life partner, cohabitating partner, one of them husband
- 13:52Speaker 2: or wife things, you know, teamwork makes the dream. Perhaps
- 13:56Speaker 2: maybe they'll be waiting for you when you get home
- 13:58Speaker 2: from a Costco run to, you know, grab the bags
- 14:00Speaker 2: and such.
- 14:01Speaker 3: These are for people who clearly have enough money to
- 14:04Speaker 3: add little bells and whistles to their homes.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Right.
- 14:06Speaker 3: I can't imagine the typical homeowner going out of their
- 14:09Speaker 3: way to build one of these Costco doors.
- 14:11Speaker 2: I'm not a homeowner. The furthest thing from my mind
- 14:15Speaker 2: is building a Costco door into the home that one
- 14:18Speaker 2: day maybe, God willing, I'll have.
- 14:20Speaker 3: And if you could afford building such doors, you could
- 14:22Speaker 3: probably afford somebody else to do the shopping for you
- 14:24Speaker 3: and put it away for you.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. Why not? take uber delivery to a
- 14:29Speaker 2: new level hey you want to read more about the
- 14:31Speaker 2: costco doors find us on socials insta facebook or just
- 14:35Speaker 2: get to the toby and chili page at washfm.com and
- 14:39Speaker 2: don't move too far because.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Well if we're going to talk about people spending ridiculous
- 14:43Speaker 3: money for things uh some nebraska fans are shelling out
- 14:46Speaker 3: over three thousand dollars to buy urinals for memorial stadium.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Wow wow I've heard of people who are fans, but
- 14:56Speaker 2: I don't know what kind of fan shells out $ 3, 000
- 14:59Speaker 2: for some stadium urinals. Till we get chilly in the morning,
- 15:03Speaker 2: it is 97.1 Wash FM, but this indeed happened.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Well, they're Nebraska fans, and Memorial Stadium is selling used urinals. Hmm.
- 15:12Speaker 3: To your point, for $ 3, 000 a piece, these things weigh
- 15:15Speaker 3: 300 pounds. 30 of them immediately were sold. And you
- 15:20Speaker 3: know it's probably going to sell out. People just have
- 15:22Speaker 3: a weird way of defining what sentimental is. And if
- 15:25Speaker 3: they went to those bathrooms and to those games at
- 15:28Speaker 3: the stadium, maybe somebody just wanted one for their house?
- 15:32Speaker 2: Where do you even display that? It's been an incredible
- 15:34Speaker 2: moment that happened at that urinal. I don't recall anybody
- 15:37Speaker 2: buying any urinals from RFK Stadium before they destroyed that place.
- 15:41Speaker 3: But I did buy one of the seats from there.
- 15:43Speaker 2: A seat's one thing. Urinal's different.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah, but that would be my most sentimental thing that
- 15:47Speaker 3: I own is the RFK Stadium seat that I did
- 15:50Speaker 3: not pay anywhere near that much money for.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Yeah, the only thing that I have that's got sentimental
- 15:56Speaker 2: value is my daughter. I got her for her birthday
- 15:59Speaker 2: an autographed cast from the Dear Evan Hansen cast. No
- 16:02Speaker 2: pun intended.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Oh, okay, like an arm cast.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yes, that's nice. Well, she left it at the house,
- 16:07Speaker 2: so that makes it mine.
- 16:08Speaker 3: It does.
- 16:09Speaker 2: And it does have some sentimental value because it reminds
- 16:12Speaker 2: me of a time when we enjoyed going to places together.
- 16:14Speaker 2: So you have something, Dan?
- 16:16Speaker 1: Yes.
- 16:16Speaker 2: That has sentimental value this morning. Thanks for the call
- 16:20Speaker 2: at 866-927-4361. A Bruce Springsteen show with your dad? What's this?
- 16:25Speaker 1: I still have the ticket stub from the first concert
- 16:28Speaker 1: I went to with my dad.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Those were great, actual physical tickets with all the information
- 16:33Speaker 3: written on it.
- 16:34Speaker 1: It's literally a tiny piece of paper that means nothing
- 16:36Speaker 1: to anybody else, but I found it in an old
- 16:39Speaker 1: wallet years later, and I just couldn't bring myself to
- 16:42Speaker 1: throw it away.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Thank you, Dan, for reminding those of us who collect
- 16:45Speaker 2: those ticket stubs that they are indeed important.
- 16:48Speaker 3: You know what you can't carry in your wallet are
- 16:50Speaker 3: those darn QR codes.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Truth.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Not good.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Stacey from Rockville.
- 16:55Speaker 5: I have the ugliest ceramic frog my grandmother gave me
- 16:58Speaker 5: when I was little.
