- 0:00Welcome to your daily business update. We begin
- 0:03today in Dubai, where the pace of development
- 0:06just continues to accelerate, you know? And it's
- 0:09all supported by some really innovative government
- 0:11initiatives. So get this. His Excellency Saeed
- 0:16Mohammed Al -Tayr, he's the MD and CEO of the
- 0:19Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, or DIWA,
- 0:22right? He announced that DIWA approved WOW. 132
- 0:29,981 no -objection certificate applications.
- 0:32And that was just in 2025 under their Sucura
- 0:36program. Yeah, these applications were submitted
- 0:39by about 2 ,472 consultants and contractors up
- 0:45to the end of December 2025. That's an increase
- 0:48of nearly 4 .5 % compared to 2024. Now, the Sucur
- 0:53program, it's really pivotal. I mean, it's designed
- 0:56to streamline the whole approval process, right?
- 0:59It enhances first submission success rates, and
- 1:02ultimately it just accelerates project delivery
- 1:05across the entire emirate. His Excellency Altair
- 1:09said it himself. He stated, in line with the
- 1:11Dubai Economic Agenda D33, we provide a motivating
- 1:15environment that supports business acceleration
- 1:18and growth. Our programs and initiatives, they
- 1:21support the successful completion of projects
- 1:24and foster greater happiness among stakeholders,
- 1:27which further consolidates Dubai's position as
- 1:30a global hub for business, investment and entrepreneurship.
- 1:34So this huge increase in demand for infrastructure
- 1:37services, it's a really clear indicator of just
- 1:40how much Dubai's business landscape is expanding.
- 1:43The approvals were managed across three core
- 1:46units. So you had the Transmission Power Division
- 1:49approving almost 70 ,000 applications. Then the
- 1:53Distribution Power Division, they approved over
- 1:5545 ,000. And the Water and Civil Division approved
- 1:58around 17 ,747 applications. But the program
- 2:04isn't just about speed, you know? It's also about
- 2:07quality and safety. Hussein Luta, who's the executive
- 2:11vice president for transmission power at Diwa,
- 2:14he said the Sukur program assesses compliance
- 2:16with standards and guidelines, which helps to
- 2:19reduce violations, minimize risks, enhance field
- 2:23operations, and protect Diwa's assets. Diwa is
- 2:27really active in supporting its partners, too.
- 2:29They have these comprehensive technical guides
- 2:32on their website, and they even present a Sucur
- 2:34award to outstanding consultants and contractors.
- 2:38Now, here's a question we'd like you to think
- 2:40about. As cities grow and digitalize, how can
- 2:44administrative processes, things like permitting
- 2:47and approvals, become not just a regulatory step,
- 2:50but a strategic accelerator for economic growth?
