- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line second to day free
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion has Pumpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and
- 0:26Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. What Eup? Twelves.
- 0:34Speaker 1: This is Hawk Talk Preview edition Week twelve. I'm Michael
- 0:38Speaker 1: Bumps along with Nasa Shelby. The Hawks go on the road.
- 0:41Speaker 1: They're going to Philly to play primetime football on Monday.
- 0:44Speaker 1: But before we get into it, here's Nasa Chelby with
- 0:46Speaker 1: the injury updates. Thanks bump Well, lots of injury news
- 0:50Speaker 1: to report for the Seahawks after the weekend off. I
- 0:53Speaker 1: will start on a positive note. Shaquille Griffin and Chris Carson,
- 0:56Speaker 1: who have been out since Week seven, both returned to
- 0:58Speaker 1: the practice field, which is a great sign. From Monday
- 1:00Speaker 1: night they did get out there today, Yeah, and it
- 1:04Speaker 1: got to work. You know. They were doing doing all
- 1:06Speaker 1: the regular practice stuff today, so it's good sign. Starting
- 1:09Speaker 1: center Ethan Postic, who missed the last two games with
- 1:11Speaker 1: a concussion, also returned to practice, so that's a good sign.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Running back with Shad Penny, who is getting closer. As
- 1:16Speaker 1: you know, he's been on the injured list since tearing
- 1:19Speaker 1: his ACL against the Rams last December. He's not quite
- 1:22Speaker 1: ready to go, but won't practice this week, but we're
- 1:24Speaker 1: hoping to get him back next week. On the negative side,
- 1:27Speaker 1: running back, both Scarborough and tight end at Stefan Sullivan
- 1:30Speaker 1: were both placed on i R. And lastly, starting right
- 1:33Speaker 1: tackle Brandon Shell, who got rolled up on during the
- 1:35Speaker 1: Cardinals game last Thursday night, will be a game time decision, Brandon.
- 1:39Speaker 1: He's still hobbled a little bit. It's gonna be a
- 1:41Speaker 1: it's gonna be a close call to the game. I
- 1:43Speaker 1: can't tell you what's gonna happen now, but he needs
- 1:45Speaker 1: every day tough guy, big strong guy. Sometimes they can
- 1:48Speaker 1: handle this a little bit better than other guys. We'll see.
- 1:52Speaker 1: So it's really day to day with him. So that's
- 1:54Speaker 1: a good rap on the injury report. Hopeing shell can
- 1:56Speaker 1: go all right? Just a reminder before we get going,
- 1:58Speaker 1: join us each and every Thursday from noun to two
- 2:00Speaker 1: for the Huddle, hosted by Jake Stacy and Dave Wyman.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It's your chance to hear directly from the Seahawks players
- 2:06Speaker 1: as they prepare for Sunday in previous game ahead with
- 2:08Speaker 1: the voice of the Seahawks, Steve Rabel and Ray Roberts.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Time to get going. Who's next? The Philadelphia Eagles? Who stacks?
- 2:19Speaker 1: Who stacks? Like Nass said, the Philadelphia Eagles are next.
- 2:24Speaker 1: They are three six and one in second place in
- 2:26Speaker 1: the old so competitive NFC East. No now, so I'm
- 2:31Speaker 1: looking at their record the red. Their losses and tie
- 2:35Speaker 1: aren't red, but I'm gonna focus on the black because
- 2:37Speaker 1: I think that tells a story. Who have they beaten?
- 2:39Speaker 1: They've beaten the San Francisco forty nine Ers, banged up
- 2:43Speaker 1: the Giants and the Dallas Cowboys, not to mention they
- 2:46Speaker 1: lost to the Giants as well. I guess two good
- 2:48Speaker 1: losses would be Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens. They
- 2:51Speaker 1: only lost by two to the Baltimore Ravens, but everywhere
- 2:54Speaker 1: else Man. They've lost to Washington football team, La Ram, Cincinnati,
- 2:59Speaker 1: the Giants, the Browns. This isn't a very good football
- 3:03Speaker 1: team right now, and you're gonna want to focus on
- 3:06Speaker 1: the quarterback. He has some decision making issues, but he's
- 3:09Speaker 1: still the most talented dude on that football team at
- 3:11Speaker 1: this point. Last week, what they do. Last week? They
- 3:15Speaker 1: lost to an ugly game to the Cleveland Browns twenty
- 3:17Speaker 1: two to seventeen. That was the Browns first victory over
- 3:21Speaker 1: the Eagles since ninety four. I was eight years old
- 3:24Speaker 1: and ninety four. Now, oh my goodness, I was. I
- 3:27Speaker 1: was three and a half. Bro, Like it's been a minute.
- 3:30Speaker 1: But so, the thing about that game was it was sloppy.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Like you mentioned, they had four first half penalties, two
- 3:36Speaker 1: for twelve on third downs, and three turnovers. And that's
- 3:39Speaker 1: just the issue with them, man. They don't take care
- 3:41Speaker 1: of the football, and they're they're they're just struggling. They're
- 3:43Speaker 1: just finding ways to get things done. Carson Wentz, as
- 3:46Speaker 1: you mentioned on Sunday twenty one, for thirty five two
- 3:49Speaker 1: hundred thirty five yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, sacked five
- 3:53Speaker 1: times and once for a safety. Above not good and
- 3:57Speaker 1: low key. He should have had four interceptions. Yeah, one
- 4:01Speaker 1: in the end zone. I think they called it. It
- 4:04Speaker 1: wasn't a catch, I guess, but he was in great position.
- 4:06Speaker 1: There's another one in the middle of the film. Nasy
- 4:07Speaker 1: should have had FOREI interceptions. There were two that were
- 4:09Speaker 1: dropped or not called interceptions. Is it his decision making?
- 4:13Speaker 1: Is he forcing it? I don't know. We're gonna find
- 4:15Speaker 1: out soon. Miles Sanders, Yeah, sixty six rushing yards on
- 4:18Speaker 1: sixteen carries, but he had a costly fumble just turning
- 4:21Speaker 1: the ball over. The Hawks know all about turning the
- 4:23Speaker 1: ball over and losing football games. That's not a recipe
- 4:26Speaker 1: for success turning over the ball. You must have ball security,
- 4:29Speaker 1: job security. You get debts that way. Philadelphia not getting
- 4:33Speaker 1: WS as of late. No, And what's happening is it's
- 4:37Speaker 1: given a lot of fuel of the fire for that
- 4:38Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts crowd. They're starting to get a lot louder,
- 4:41Speaker 1: especially in the ball cities. Philadelphia head coach Peterson said
- 4:45Speaker 1: after the game that he's sticking with Wentz against Monday
- 4:47Speaker 1: night against the Seahawks, and he said if he would
- 4:50Speaker 1: to replace Carson Wentz, it'd be sending the wrong message
- 4:53Speaker 1: to your football team that this season was over. When
- 4:55Speaker 1: times get tough, sometimes that might be the easy thing
- 4:58Speaker 1: to do. This word is bigger than one guy. We
- 5:01Speaker 1: all have a hand in it, and we'll all have
- 5:03Speaker 1: to fix it now, Bump, that's a that's a weird thing.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I appreciate you standing up for your guy, but to
- 5:09Speaker 1: say that sends the wrong message. You could also say
- 5:11Speaker 1: it sends the right message because we want guys to
- 5:13Speaker 1: compete and you're not doing your job. So I don't
- 5:15Speaker 1: know how that plays in the locker room. That's wrong, Matt.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I'm kind of like, Okay, if Carson Wentz ain't doing
- 5:21Speaker 1: his job, let's get the rookie in and see if
- 5:23Speaker 1: he can mix things up. You saw two will get
- 5:27Speaker 1: bitched because he wasn't getting the job done in the
- 5:30Speaker 1: middle of the game and got Fitzpatrick getting there. I
- 5:32Speaker 1: guess that's there's always what half half full, half empty.
- 5:36Speaker 1: He's on the half half half full side at this point,
- 5:39Speaker 1: because I think some of these veterans might be calling
- 5:41Speaker 1: for Jalen Hurts, and I said at the beginning this year,
- 5:44Speaker 1: I said it's gonna be a time when Hurts is
- 5:46Speaker 1: gonna be asked to step in and do his thing.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Doesn't look like that's gonna happen, but they should at
- 5:51Speaker 1: least sprinkle him in. It has to be a Jalen
- 5:53Speaker 1: Hurts package in that offense, right absolutely. I think I
- 5:55Speaker 1: think you went and drafted him early. You do that
- 5:58Speaker 1: for a reason, you'd think, right so, And I understand,
- 6:00Speaker 1: and I like the head coach supporting his quarterback, but
- 6:02Speaker 1: I wish he would have just said no, Wentz is
- 6:04Speaker 1: our guy. Period. But once you talk about sending the
- 6:07Speaker 1: wrong message, I just he kind of lost me. There.
- 6:09Speaker 1: You lose me, You lose me. All right, let's talk
- 6:11Speaker 1: about this head to head comparison. All right. We all
- 6:13Speaker 1: know the Hawks offense is doing their thing. They ranked
- 6:15Speaker 1: fourth in the league. Philadelphia's offense is ranked twenty six,
- 6:18Speaker 1: their rush offense twelve, their past offense twenty eight. In
- 6:22Speaker 1: those three categories, the Hawks are top ten. And then
- 6:25Speaker 1: you go to points per game. The Hawks are second,
- 6:27Speaker 1: averaging thirty one and the Philadelphia Eagles are twenty fourth
- 6:31Speaker 1: averaging twenty two. Carson Wentz, Man, how fast does this
- 6:36Speaker 1: falloff been? And he's the quarterback of this team, he's
- 6:39Speaker 1: been banged up. Might get all of that. But end
- 6:41Speaker 1: of the day, when you look at offensive stats and
- 6:43Speaker 1: where they rank, your eyes go directly to the quarterback, right, Yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 1: it kind of has to. I mean, you look at
- 6:48Speaker 1: third down offense or twenty eighth, they only converting thirty
- 6:51Speaker 1: seven percent of time. Their red zone offense is okay,
- 6:54Speaker 1: they're converting sixty three percent of time. But when you're
- 6:57Speaker 1: not scoring points and you're not rack up any yards,
- 7:00Speaker 1: of course, it starts with the guy who has the
- 7:01Speaker 1: ball in his hands every play and the way he's
- 7:04Speaker 1: turning the ball over. It's just tough offensively for them
- 7:06Speaker 1: right now. And I think I think that's a really
- 7:08Speaker 1: good sign for the Seahawk defense they built. They had
- 7:11Speaker 1: a great second half against against the Rams, and they
- 7:14Speaker 1: had a great game against the Cardinals last week. So
- 7:16Speaker 1: this is gonna be a good matchup for them, and
- 7:17Speaker 1: I think this another week where they can build their confidence.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Speaking of defense, the Eagles are a better defensive team
- 7:24Speaker 1: than the Seahawks. Surprise right total defense, they're ranked tenth,
- 7:28Speaker 1: the Hawks ranked thirty second. Rush defense there the Phillies
- 7:31Speaker 1: twenty fifth. The Hawks are fourth past defense, Philly six,
- 7:34Speaker 1: the Hawks thirty second. Not a surprise here. I don't
- 7:37Speaker 1: expect this defense to be ranked above anybody at this point,
- 7:40Speaker 1: but I still believe in this defense. I still see
- 7:43Speaker 1: the improvements in this defense. This is where numbers lie.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Numbers don't tell you the last couple of weeks they've
- 7:48Speaker 1: held their opponents under thirty points. Numbers don't tell you
- 7:51Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks they've been but they haven't
- 7:54Speaker 1: broken and given this offense a chance to win the game.
- 7:57Speaker 1: So when we started talking defensive stats on zone now,
- 8:00Speaker 1: but I don't I don't give it too much merit
- 8:02Speaker 1: because we watched this team every week. We see the
- 8:05Speaker 1: changes that are being made. Oh, no question about it.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I think we've been saying this all year. Too much
- 8:10Speaker 1: damage was done early on. I mean, all those games
- 8:12Speaker 1: given up a well over four hundred yards four hundred
- 8:14Speaker 1: yards passing. If the damage wasn't done. It's just like
- 8:16Speaker 1: your GPA great point average. You screw around your first
- 8:19Speaker 1: year and you get a zero point zero. I don't
- 8:21Speaker 1: care if you get four point ards the rest of
- 8:23Speaker 1: the way, you're still gonna look bad. So it kind
- 8:25Speaker 1: of is what it is. And I think the cool thing,
- 8:28Speaker 1: at least the last thing we'll say about This head
- 8:30Speaker 1: to head thing is turnover differential. The Seahawks had a
- 8:33Speaker 1: rough stretch in there. They were leading the league pretty much.
- 8:35Speaker 1: See the first five games. They dropped a little bit
- 8:37Speaker 1: their plus one to twelfth in the league. But the
- 8:40Speaker 1: Eagles are minus nine. That comes in at thirty. Great
- 8:43Speaker 1: sign for this defense because they like to give that
- 8:45Speaker 1: ball away. Turn the rock over. All right, let's get
- 8:49Speaker 1: to know these two teams. Know your history, No, your history,
- 8:54Speaker 1: all right. Season record between these guys in regular season
- 8:57Speaker 1: is ten to seven, with the Seahawks leading it. The
- 8:59Speaker 1: last for Philly. You have to go all the way
- 9:01Speaker 1: back to two thousand and eight. The Seahawks have one
- 9:03Speaker 1: sixth straight, including the last meeting, where the Seahawks beat
- 9:06Speaker 1: the Eagle seventeen and nine in the wild card playoffs.
- 9:09Speaker 1: The biggest story of that game was a Jadebion Clowney
- 9:11Speaker 1: knocking out Carson wentz out of the ball game after
- 9:14Speaker 1: just the second drive of the game. This is the
- 9:16Speaker 1: whole thing nationally, at least in Philly. Was not a
- 9:18Speaker 1: dirty play, Clowne. He's not a dirty player. He was
- 9:21Speaker 1: going after the quarterback made a play. Unfortunately Carson got
- 9:23Speaker 1: knocked out. But really what happened was I think the
- 9:27Speaker 1: nation finally got to see what DK Metcalf is all about.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Goes in motion, Russell playfake. Now he's gonna throw down
- 9:33Speaker 1: the middle. Kind of man. Metcalf makes the catch diving.
- 9:36Speaker 1: He is in for a touchdown Seahawks. What a play
- 9:42Speaker 1: by the rookie. DK Metcalf gets in behind the secondary,
- 9:47Speaker 1: makes a diving catch, hits the ground, gets back up,
- 9:50Speaker 1: and then drags a defender to the end zone fifty
- 9:53Speaker 1: three yards. What a play by number fourteen. Simply spectacular
- 10:00Speaker 1: and the Seahawks lead five ten. So DK said a
- 10:03Speaker 1: Seahawks record for receiving yards in the playoff game he
- 10:06Speaker 1: had one hundred and sixty two and an NFL record
- 10:09Speaker 1: receiving yards by rookie in his debut. So that was
- 10:11Speaker 1: definitely in the coming out party for DK Metcalf, d
- 10:14Speaker 1: K d K. I'm on the bandwagon, man, I'm a believer.
- 10:18Speaker 1: You called it earlier, you called him a superstar. I'm like, oh,
- 10:20Speaker 1: he's a rising star. Nah, he's a superstar. It's official,
- 10:24Speaker 1: DK mad respect All right, let's get to know the
- 10:26Speaker 1: NFC West. What's the word in the West? And the
- 10:33Speaker 1: Seahawks were the NFC West champs. Again, what's the word
- 10:37Speaker 1: in the West? On hot talk? What's the word in
- 10:41Speaker 1: the West? La Rams, Seattle Seahawks sitting on top of
- 10:44Speaker 1: this division at seven and three. You got the Cardinals
- 10:46Speaker 1: at six and four, San fram at four and six.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Now the Hawks beat the Cardinals on Thursday, and I'm like,
- 10:53Speaker 1: come on, Tom Brad, do us a solid take care
- 10:56Speaker 1: of these Rams. It looked like hot pitat between Tom
- 11:00Speaker 1: Brady and Jared Goff. No you win the game, No,
- 11:03Speaker 1: you win the game. No, you win the game. They
- 11:05Speaker 1: just couldn't get it done. Jared Goff. Say what you
- 11:07Speaker 1: want about Jared Goff. He will panic, he will turn
- 11:09Speaker 1: the ball over. But when he gets it out of
- 11:11Speaker 1: his hands quickly and gets it too those guys on
- 11:13Speaker 1: the outside with Cooper Cup and Robert Woods, damage will
- 11:17Speaker 1: be done. And that's what we saw against a pretty
- 11:19Speaker 1: good Tampa Bay defense. Because of that, they're sitting up
- 11:24Speaker 1: top with the Actually they hold the tiebreaker, so they're
- 11:27Speaker 1: leading the West right now seven to three, or excuse me,
- 11:30Speaker 1: the Wreckers are both seven and three. What you got nas, Well,
- 11:32Speaker 1: here's the thing about that money Night game. First of all,
- 11:34Speaker 1: Tom Brady I'm just gonna call it out. Man. He
- 11:36Speaker 1: looked old. That was I have never seen that. Tom Brady,
- 11:39Speaker 1: he looked not I think he said this on Danny Gallant.
- 11:43Speaker 1: He just didn't look like he had confidence in what
- 11:44Speaker 1: he's doing. Though those throws his interceptions were not confident throws.
- 11:47Speaker 1: He kind of looked a couple of times. I'm like,
- 11:49Speaker 1: he just put his foot in the ground, not running
- 11:51Speaker 1: to get hit and throwing the football and you're like,
- 11:52Speaker 1: that's there's no conviction and that I mean. And then
- 11:55Speaker 1: for Bruce arians said one of him he kind of
- 11:57Speaker 1: got hit. Another one he misread the coverage. I don't
- 12:00Speaker 1: know what you mean, missright the coverage. There was free
- 12:01Speaker 1: safety in the middle of the field. He didn't disguise anything.
- 12:04Speaker 1: He just dropped to You had a guy running down
- 12:06Speaker 1: the hash he threw right to him. I don't I
- 12:08Speaker 1: don't know if I was misreading the coverage. I think
- 12:10Speaker 1: he just got the ball. His hand panicked a little bit.
- 12:12Speaker 1: He saw him throw the ball twice where he got
- 12:14Speaker 1: batted down. They threw the ball again. It was just
- 12:17Speaker 1: it was weird and it just sucked because all the
- 12:19Speaker 1: times were usually rooting against Tom Brady. In the times
- 12:22Speaker 1: that we really needed to like help us out a
- 12:24Speaker 1: little bit, couldn't get it done. So I thought that
- 12:26Speaker 1: was interesting. But back to the Rams, man, that is
- 12:29Speaker 1: not how they liked to win football games. Twenty carries,
- 12:32Speaker 1: thirty seven rush yards, Jared Goffie the ball fifty one times.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I mean, that's usually not a recipe for success for
- 12:39Speaker 1: the Rams. No, it's not. He was thirty nine for
- 12:42Speaker 1: fifty one, three hundred and seventy six yards, three touchdowns,
- 12:45Speaker 1: two interceptions. He played all right. I mean he did
- 12:49Speaker 1: throw some interceptions, but he played better than Tom Brady
- 12:53Speaker 1: enough to get it done. And Cooper Cup, other than
- 12:55Speaker 1: the receivers for the Seattle seahause, Cooper Cup is my guy.
- 13:00Speaker 1: And when he doesn't play the Hawks, roof Cooper Cup.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Love this dude. He's from Washington. He's underrated. What do
- 13:06Speaker 1: you have? Eleven catches, one forty five and then this boy,
- 13:09Speaker 1: Robert was at twelve or one thirty and most of
- 13:11Speaker 1: their yards come after the catch. These dudes get loose.
- 13:14Speaker 1: That's what scares me about this team. All we learned
- 13:17Speaker 1: is the Rams aren't going anywhere. And the matchup on
- 13:20Speaker 1: the twenty seven against the Hawks it's probably going to
- 13:23Speaker 1: decide the division. I called it a mini super Bowl,
- 13:25Speaker 1: just a little little playoff tastes a little A little
- 13:27Speaker 1: division super bowl is what we're gonna call that. It's
- 13:30Speaker 1: gonna be a good one. No, I think so, because
- 13:32Speaker 1: I think that the Niners are obviously out of the picture.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I think the fact that the Rams and the Cardinals
- 13:36Speaker 1: play each other twice might take the Cardinals out of
- 13:38Speaker 1: the picture. The Seahawks have the easiest, you know, strength
- 13:41Speaker 1: of schedule for the next four weeks, So I think
- 13:44Speaker 1: the Seahawks will run the table in that game against
- 13:46Speaker 1: the Rams, I for sure thinks, and decide the NFC West.
- 13:49Speaker 1: All right, let's get into these matchups. Is this man
- 14:00Speaker 1: up on Hawk Talk? All right? We've mentioned his name
- 14:04Speaker 1: plenty so far in this podcast. We're gonna start with
- 14:07Speaker 1: Carson Wentz first, that Seahawk defense. Now, Carson Wentz twenty
- 14:11Speaker 1: two hundred and twenty for three thirty seven for two thousand,
- 14:15Speaker 1: three hundred twenty six yards, fourteen touchdowns, fourteen interceptions, four
- 14:20Speaker 1: fumbles loss. He has eighteen turnovers on the season. Only
- 14:24Speaker 1: the Cowboys and Broncos as a team have more turnovers
- 14:27Speaker 1: than Carson Wentz. I mean, he's it's it's hard to watch.
- 14:31Speaker 1: He's been sacked forty times already this season. He's just
- 14:35Speaker 1: not taking care of the football. And I understand, don't
- 14:37Speaker 1: get wrong, he has guys banged up. I think last
- 14:38Speaker 1: week he had three starters out on the offensive line.
- 14:42Speaker 1: But he's just making decisions in places you can't make.
- 14:44Speaker 1: On the pick six against the Browns last week, I mean,
- 14:47Speaker 1: you just can't make that throw if you're not sure,
- 14:48Speaker 1: you can't float something up to a running back come
- 14:50Speaker 1: out of the flag. I mean, it's just he doesn't
- 14:52Speaker 1: seem confident and he's it feels like he's very far
- 14:55Speaker 1: removed from the guy that was the clear cut MVP
- 14:59Speaker 1: in twenty seventeen for the injury. Yeah, I'm with you. Yeah,
- 15:02Speaker 1: forty four carries, two hundred and sixteen yards and five touchdowns.
- 15:05Speaker 1: That's a sneaky little stat right there. Yeah, he's actually moving.
- 15:08Speaker 1: The fact that he has five rushing touchdowns, So, like Loki,
- 15:10Speaker 1: don't sleep on the man's a letticism. Yeah, when he
- 15:13Speaker 1: gets into the red zone, he's gonna become a threat
- 15:15Speaker 1: for real. All I know is that he's in that
- 15:18Speaker 1: quarterback room and wherever Jalen Hurts is sitting. He's looking
- 15:21Speaker 1: over that shoulder. Oh yeah, man, this young man is
- 15:24Speaker 1: coming from my job. I'm gonna go out and say
- 15:26Speaker 1: that offseason once is gone. Hurts as a guy. Next
- 15:29Speaker 1: year we shall see, all right. Next matchup, Russell Wilson
- 15:32Speaker 1: verse the Eagles defense. Russ is two hundred and fifty
- 15:35Speaker 1: six for three sixty two twenty nine hundred eighty six yards,
- 15:38Speaker 1: thirty touchdowns and ten interceptions. He's also rushed the ball
- 15:41Speaker 1: fifty five times three hundred and sixty seven yards in
- 15:44Speaker 1: one touchdown. He leads the team in Russian. Remember that
- 15:48Speaker 1: year when he led the team and everything. We don't
- 15:49Speaker 1: need him to leave the team and everything now. Man.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Reinforcers are coming this week, though, Carlos High Chris Carson,
- 15:56Speaker 1: So I think that's gonna change. But it's good to
- 15:57Speaker 1: see Russell at least make some plays this feat and
- 16:01Speaker 1: kind of going back to the twenty thirteen through twenty
- 16:03Speaker 1: fifteen Rusts bounce back with a strong performance last week
- 16:06Speaker 1: and it's Cardinals twenty three, twenty eight, two touchdowns, no turnovers.
- 16:10Speaker 1: So it's good to see Russ kind of doing what
- 16:12Speaker 1: he's doing this running game. Is definitely gonna help compliment
- 16:14Speaker 1: him and I expect him to have a big day. Man.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I just want him to do what he did last week.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I mean, people get caught up in the thirty one
- 16:20Speaker 1: rushes that the Hawks had. No it was twenty one
- 16:23Speaker 1: rush just pulled it down and ran ten times. That's
- 16:26Speaker 1: what I want to see out of him. If you
- 16:28Speaker 1: don't like it, man, tuck it to run, get down.
- 16:30Speaker 1: He's great at avoiding the big hit. Keep that thing
- 16:33Speaker 1: going for sure. And then you look at the Eagles defense.
- 16:36Speaker 1: So they have the tenth ranked defense in the NFL
- 16:38Speaker 1: three hundred forty two yards per game. However, they're pretty
- 16:42Speaker 1: well in pass defense, allowing just two hundred nine yards
- 16:44Speaker 1: per game that ranked six in the NFL. So they
- 16:47Speaker 1: are sixteenth though in points allowed per game at twenty fifth,
- 16:49Speaker 1: So they're solid defense. They're not the best defense to
- 16:51Speaker 1: see us have gone up against, but they're definitely getting
- 16:53Speaker 1: it done and it should be a fun matchup to watch.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Russell will go against them all right. The next matchup
- 16:58Speaker 1: we have the Eagles Receive Corps versus the Seahawks secondary.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Once again, the Eagles have had to deal with injuries
- 17:05Speaker 1: and the receiving cord. DeShawn Jackson has n't played since
- 17:08Speaker 1: mid October, and the way that Deshaun got hurt was
- 17:10Speaker 1: messed up. They were just looking for a guy to
- 17:12Speaker 1: return a punt. I think they're returns. Deshaun's like, hey,
- 17:15Speaker 1: I'm probably one of the greatest returners of all time.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Let me have a shot at it, and then he
- 17:20Speaker 1: gets banged up. I always, hey, when ogs get hurt.
- 17:23Speaker 1: There's not too many eighties babies left in the NFL,
- 17:26Speaker 1: and Desheaan Jackson was one of them. Holding on to it.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I hope this guy gets better. So yeah, it was
- 17:30Speaker 1: so tough to see man because it was an unnecessary play,
- 17:32Speaker 1: Like he's down, then he gets hit again, his knee
- 17:34Speaker 1: gets all tweaked. So I mean, it's just been tough
- 17:36Speaker 1: for this receiving cords. They're always banged up. So first
- 17:38Speaker 1: round pick, I think twentieth overall from TCU Jalen Rieger.
- 17:42Speaker 1: He's only played five games this year, but played the
- 17:45Speaker 1: last two games. He's missed a couple of games. His
- 17:48Speaker 1: stats are very so so he's under three hundred receiving yards.
- 17:51Speaker 1: And then you canna talk about Carson Wentz's favorite target
- 17:54Speaker 1: zach Ertz. He's not played since mid October. He was
- 17:57Speaker 1: taken off of the IR So there's a good he
- 18:00Speaker 1: plays on Sunday, and that's something the Eagles definitely need
- 18:03Speaker 1: because right now there's not a lot of production in
- 18:05Speaker 1: that receiving room, not a lot. They're leading receiver, Travis
- 18:08Speaker 1: Fulgum has thirty one receptions, four to fifty one yards
- 18:12Speaker 1: and four touchdowns. I'll never I'll never hate on a
- 18:15Speaker 1: dude in the NFL because I didn't do much. Five catches,
- 18:17Speaker 1: four day yards, I didn't score a touchdown, you know
- 18:19Speaker 1: what I mean? But who is this guy? I just
- 18:21Speaker 1: don't know who he is. You know, when you have
- 18:23Speaker 1: a guy that no one really knows leading the charge,
- 18:26Speaker 1: that means there has to be a bunch of injuries there. Also,
- 18:30Speaker 1: Greg Ward has forty receptions toward the ninety one yards,
- 18:33Speaker 1: three touchdowns. Now, I watched a film on these guys.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Richard Roberts can go, yeah, Dallas god or can go.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I mean, they're solid, they're Titans, but there no Zach Erst.
- 18:43Speaker 1: They're not Travis Kelsey, they're not Kittle. They're above average
- 18:46Speaker 1: tight ends. But when you're focal pointing your pass game
- 18:49Speaker 1: all your tight ends and you're not a Kelsey or
- 18:51Speaker 1: a Kittle. That's a recipe for disaster. Well, it's tough
- 18:54Speaker 1: because if you can't stretch the defense and you can't
- 18:56Speaker 1: test the Seahawks secondary every play and you're not concerned
- 19:00Speaker 1: about getting be deep, you can play win more aggressive.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Now you got Jamal Adams, cause in Havoc, now you
- 19:04Speaker 1: got Trey Flowers and Ovilli sha killed Griffin. If he's back,
- 19:07Speaker 1: they're being physical lining scrimmage. Maybe be staying a little
- 19:09Speaker 1: bit more pressed. Man, Now you got the defensive line
- 19:11Speaker 1: getting more active. So without a deep threat, I think
- 19:14Speaker 1: that's really gonna help the Seahawks secondary and honestly, up
- 19:17Speaker 1: for the first time it feels like forever, they're going
- 19:19Speaker 1: against a receiving corps where I think we've absolutely, without
- 19:22Speaker 1: question to have the better players and we should win
- 19:25Speaker 1: that matchup. Yep, I'm with you should win the matchup,
- 19:27Speaker 1: especially if Shad Griffin plays. It seems like he's healthy.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Trey Flowers has been playing well. DJ reid Man sneaky pickup.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I like that, dude, he has a pick as well.
- 19:36Speaker 1: All right, next matchup matchup Miles Sanders versus Seahawks front
- 19:40Speaker 1: seven and seven games, Miles Sanders has five hundred and
- 19:43Speaker 1: fifty eight yards on one hundred and two carries, three touchdown.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Sanders leads the NFL with a five point seven yards
- 19:49Speaker 1: per rush. What I like about Sanders is the first
- 19:54Speaker 1: guy usually doesn't tackle him. Yeah, he runs hard, he
- 19:57Speaker 1: runs tough, and he has some wiggle and some breakaway speed.
- 19:59Speaker 1: This is a a name that not too many people
- 20:01Speaker 1: talk about, but he deserves some respect. No, it's his
- 20:05Speaker 1: explosive plays. He has a ton of explosive plays. I've
- 20:07Speaker 1: heard Pete talking about him. I've heard Doug Peterson talk
- 20:09Speaker 1: about him. The one he's probably honestly the one really
- 20:12Speaker 1: good bright spot for that offense. He gets things going
- 20:16Speaker 1: eighty three yards per game is fourth in the NFL,
- 20:18Speaker 1: trailing just Dalvin Cook, Derrek Henry and Chubb. He's missed
- 20:21Speaker 1: a couple of games with injury. That's why his numbers
- 20:22Speaker 1: aren't higher. Like we mentioned, leading the NFL at five
- 20:25Speaker 1: point seven yards for rush, the dude can do it,
- 20:27Speaker 1: and a little bit in the receiving game seventeen receptions
- 20:29Speaker 1: one hundred and sixteen yards. So he's in my opinion,
- 20:33Speaker 1: he's their best player. I think we have to continue
- 20:35Speaker 1: to do what we've been doing stopping the run. We
- 20:38Speaker 1: completely shut down the best rushing offense in the league
- 20:41Speaker 1: last week against the Cardinals, and I expect them to
- 20:43Speaker 1: do it again this week. Do it again. The Hogs
- 20:46Speaker 1: are ring fourth in the NFL, just allowing ninety one
- 20:48Speaker 1: yards per game. Like you said, they shut down man,
- 20:52Speaker 1: You shut down Colin Murray, Chase Edmonds, Kenyan Drake. You
- 20:55Speaker 1: should be able to handle this, But then again, this
- 20:57Speaker 1: is the NFL. You never know this. Come ready to eleven,
- 21:01Speaker 1: Bass to the eleven, hats to the ball, I should say,
- 21:04Speaker 1: and do your thing. What's the path of victory? Man?
- 21:08Speaker 1: After forty five waits for the staff, Michael Vickton puts
- 21:12Speaker 1: it down. That kick is away. If that kick is gone,
- 21:17Speaker 1: it's gone. It's a path to victory. On Hawk Talk,
- 21:22Speaker 1: hey first path to victory. Carson Wentz wants to turn
- 21:25Speaker 1: the ball over anyway, keep the good times rolling. Turn
- 21:28Speaker 1: the rock over. Eighteen times he's turned the rock over
- 21:31Speaker 1: this season. I feel bad for Carson Wentz, but I
- 21:34Speaker 1: won't feel bad on Monday. After After Monday, I'll start
- 21:37Speaker 1: feeling bad for him again. But I need you to
- 21:38Speaker 1: be Carson Wentz of twenty twenty and just turn that
- 21:41Speaker 1: rock over. Oh yeah, yeah. I think the Seahawks need
- 21:42Speaker 1: to win that turnover battle. I think this is a
- 21:44Speaker 1: week where he can. I'm expecting at least two turnovers
- 21:47Speaker 1: on Sunday. On the flip side. We gotta take care
- 21:49Speaker 1: of the ball. Last week, the Seahawks had no turnovers.
- 21:52Speaker 1: As we mentioned all year, you win the turn of
- 21:54Speaker 1: a battle, you win the game. Let's keep it up.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Run the ball, physical, run game. We saw it last
- 22:01Speaker 1: week with Carlos Hide at number thirty two. What to do?
- 22:03Speaker 1: Chris Carson is back. I expect that trend to continue.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I'm not saying run the ball thirty times thirty five times, No,
- 22:10Speaker 1: I'm just saying, be a legit threat. When you have
- 22:13Speaker 1: Homer in DJ Dallas, two young guys who are trying
- 22:16Speaker 1: to figure it out, you're not a legit threat. Now
- 22:18Speaker 1: when you throw on Carlos Hide, you throw on Chris Carson,
- 22:21Speaker 1: that threat becomes real again. I hope they establish it
- 22:24Speaker 1: in that first drive. So then the deeps just thinking
- 22:26Speaker 1: about it, and now you can open up and take
- 22:28Speaker 1: your shots when you want to. And honestly, they're going
- 22:31Speaker 1: up against the twenty fifth worst rush defense in the league.
- 22:34Speaker 1: They're lying one hundred and thirty three yards per game
- 22:35Speaker 1: in the ground. So I expect Carlos Hide, Chris Carson
- 22:38Speaker 1: get it done there. And here's the thing. We beat
- 22:40Speaker 1: the teams you were supposed to beat. The Eagles are
- 22:42Speaker 1: three six and one. Yes they're professionals, Yes they get
- 22:45Speaker 1: coached hartwo But here's the thing. If you're gonna make
- 22:48Speaker 1: a deep run in the playoffs, you have to beat
- 22:49Speaker 1: teams we're supposed to be And it starts on Monday night,
- 22:53Speaker 1: and you gotta beat them on the road. You have
- 22:55Speaker 1: to beat the road wars the Seahawks. I've lost three
- 22:57Speaker 1: straight games on the road. You're protecting the house. You're
- 23:01Speaker 1: good at home. Now you have to do what you
- 23:03Speaker 1: do on the road in these next four games. I mean,
- 23:04Speaker 1: I'm not trying to look ahead, but I'm kind of
- 23:06Speaker 1: looking ahead. Yeah, I mean, come on, yeah, and get
- 23:08Speaker 1: it done. It starts with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday
- 23:11Speaker 1: Night football. Absolutely, And here's the thing, man, I just
- 23:14Speaker 1: want to remind everybody. You can listen to us on
- 23:16Speaker 1: Seahawks dot com or an Apple podcast, or on Spotify
- 23:20Speaker 1: or on Stitcher. You can listen to us anywhere. We
- 23:22Speaker 1: appreciate the love all those listeners out there. And another
- 23:25Speaker 1: reminder Cairo Radio and seven ten ESPN Seattle's You're home
- 23:28Speaker 1: for the Seattle Seahawks. And don't miss the Peat Carroll
- 23:30Speaker 1: Show on seven ten ESPN Seattle at nine thirty winning

- 23:39Speaker 1: to be. Come on now, let's go eight and three.
- 23:43Speaker 1: That's if folks. These guys are hitting the road to
- 23:45Speaker 1: take on the Philadelphia Eagles. That's been a Hawk Talk
