But we got some good stuff to talk about. it's been kind of like a A Christmas in August, I guess, you could say. Yeah. Barry: It's a good way to look at it. Shaun: NBA schedule is out. Tuesday. We got the Christmas and the opening day schedules. And today, or Barry: Some interesting matchups. Shaun: right. Yeah. And then as of recording today, we got the full NBA schedule that has come out as well. So let's start with the the preseason or not preseason. Gosh, what am I talking about? start with nobody cares about preseason at all. Barry: Nobody cares about the preseason. Shaun: let's start with the opening day is what I meant. there's some some good stuff. Barry: Yo, what are your thoughts? I mean, I do have to shout out to my Celtics. They get the first game of the Shaun: God, here we go already. Barry: season, but at two PM, bro. Like central time for us. So it's I think it's three Shaun: Yeah. Barry: PM Eastern. That's interesting to me. Shaun: Well, it wasn't interesting. But what's wrong with it? Barry: Like w why a three o'clock game? Shaun: It it's the Celtics and the Pistons. I mean Barry: I mean it isn't the marquee matchup. It's gonna be inter those are two really interesting teams I feel. Shaun: Yeah. You've got one that's been really on a run the last few years, and then you've got another one that's up and coming with the Pistons. they've been putting it together. It's been really impressive to see how quickly they've become a good young team. Yeah. Barry: I mean last year was a huge jump for them. Like I don't think anybody outside of Detroit saw that, like or would even have like expected that. Shaun: And it's crazy 'cause I don't even like Cade Cunningham. I mean, he he Barry: Dude's a hooper, bro. Shaun: w I I know, but dog, like, you know, I'm a U T fan and like he he went to a rival school and I just I never liked Barry: I don't know. Where do you go? Kansas? Shaun: him. no, he went to God. He was at Oklahoma State, I think. Barry: was it? I dunno I don't I'm not the best at keeping up with college sports, honestly. Shaun: Let me make sure I'm not lying to you, but I'm pretty sure it was Oklahoma State that he went to. Yeah, Oklahoma State. Yeah, that's exactly why I didn't like Marcus Smart before, too. He's a Yeah, I like him, man. Barry: Hm. so he's like my boy Marcus Smart. He's a he's a okay. Bro, I love Marcus Smart. That dude was I hope he retires a Celtic, bro. I hope he gets that. Shaun: He's a scrappy defensive guard. Yeah. I mean whatever guy. I mean we yeah, we would love that for sure. Barry: Mm. Bruh. Just does it all. Love Marcus. Shout out to Marcus Smart, bro. If you ever want to come on the pod, bro, we would gladly have you in a heartbeat. Shaun: Yeah. Once once Barry: Let us know. But Shaun: he left the Celtics, I was like, all right, cool, I can I can like him now. Barry: it's so tough, bro. 'Cause I mean, he literally his trade brought them a championship. So it's I Shaun: Yeah. Barry: would like even and I think I respect him that much more. I know he really didn't have a say in it, but Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: he deserved a championship with the Celtics more than most, and Shaun: Well Barry: his trade definitely brought that championship to Boston. So even in a way he didn't get it, he was still a part of it. So Yeah. But Shaun: It's still part of it. Like you said, he he kinda made it happen with that trade, so yeah. Barry: man. Yeah. Yeah. Th he was part of the KP and I think really his trade kicked off their ability to bring in Jrue Holiday. Like so it was like he brought Shaun: Yeah. Barry: in two huge pieces to that team. Shaun: Yeah. I mean he left the void that Jrue needed to fill, so that was a big Barry: Mm hmm. But I don't think the trade cause they got some assets from his trade that they ended Shaun: Yeah. Barry: up sending to Portland to bring In Jrue as well Shaun: Yeah. Barry: as bringing KP to. But I don't know. It's Shaun: Mm. That's just how it works out sometimes. Barry: crazy. Cause he was supposed to not even be traded and they were supposed to be able to trade just Brogdon to the Clippers, but that thing fell through. So it's like it's Shaun: And Brogdon. Barry: crazy, bro. Brogdon was part of the trade to Shaun: Where Barry: Portland. Him and Time Lord. Shout out to Robert Williams too. No, Brogdon retired, bro. Yo, he s went to New Shaun: But he's not even Yeah, he's he's another one. Yeah, he wears high, right? Yeah. Barry: York and retired the year they were the championship. That's cr it I wonder if Shaun: Yeah. Barry: he's salty about that, bro. Like you literally were on the squad. Did he get a ring Shaun: I mean, how are you gonna be salty about it? Like you you did it. It was your choice. Barry: since he was on the roster? And 'cause I think he retired before the season started. Shaun: Probably. Well, was he ever officially on the roster? Barry: I'm pretty sure he signed a contract, but then he retired before the season started. I'm pretty sure that that's what I'm like. That's crazy. That would Shaun: well I don't I don't think you would then. Yeah. Barry: I would be salty, but I picked the right team. I just said, nah, I'm not gonna run it back this year. I'm gonna call it a day and then they win it. But you never know. I know, that's what I'm saying. He has to be a little salty. Like Shaun: That's yeah, that's wild. What are the chances of that happening? Yeah. Man. Barry: I like Malcolm Brogdon, you know, he was they got six men Shaun: yeah. Barry: on the Celtics due to again, you mentioned a scrappy defender, he's the three and D kind of guy, like Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: He was real big w in Milwaukee, like where he started, Shaun: yeah. Barry: bro. He was a hooper. I mean always in his career, he brought it. So Shaun: Yeah. Like anytime you can bring a player like that off of the bench and he comes in and plays like a starter, like what are you gonna do with that? Barry: Yeah. man. dude. Starter level quality for off your, six man off the bench, it's huge. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: Nah, he was a big part of why they made it to the finals in twenty two for sure. Shaun: Who? Barry: But yeah, I feel bad for him for that. But nah, I mean, like I say, Marcus Smart, best definition of a Celtic and shit in the past to your two thousand, bro. He's just like he's a Celtic. Shaun: Gosh. Yeah, you're Celtics. I know what Barry: I don't know. Like you know what I mean when I say that too, bro. Shaun: you mean. I know what you mean by it. Like he like in the heart, he's still a Celtic. Like he's still a a very good memory. Yeah. Barry: So yeah, like he is what a Celtic is, bro. But like that's what I would hope all Cel yeah, nah he do I h like I say, I hope he comes back and retires with the Celtic. Shaun: Yeah. I don't know, but that's a that's a really good warm up for that second game. That second game is gonna be nice. Barry: I mean both teams, I think the Celtics and the Pistons have a lot that they can prove this year. Like Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Pistons can prove we weren't just a one off last year. But did they make the right roster moves in the offseason? The the Durin thing is still ongoing. He's not signed to anyone. Shaun: I don't know. Because they still d I was like Jalen Duren still isn't yeah, he still isn't signed yet. Yeah. Barry: So I wonder what they do. I mean, they brought in Collins and they traded what somebody from OKC. Shaun: I feel like you need Durin. Barry: No, they need to bring Durham back, but I'm saying Shaun: Yeah. Barry: if they can bring him back with some of the I don't want to say big additions, Shaun: Some of them have brown. Barry: but some of the additions they made in what's the n which Thompson is there? Is Asure, Yeah. Shaun: Asure, yeah. Barry: Dude's a I mean, the he had to be top three defensive player of the year consideration last year. Dude was a beast. Yeah. no, for sure. Shaun: yeah. Both of them. Like both of the twins are good. Yeah. Barry: But I think he's more a defensive specialist. So if he Shaun: Yeah. Barry: can maybe bring it on the offense this year. They they could be really good again, but I don't know. And then they traded Shaun: Yeah. Barry: for somebody from O K C but I forget who it was. It was like a guard Shaun: Yeah. Barry: from OK C or something. Shaun: It was one of their good rotation players. I don't remember who it was either. Barry: Yeah. If they I and like a feel like so if they can bring back Duren, I they're right besides what's his name getting traded away. Shaun: Yeah. I mean they they made a name for themselves last season, which like you said, nobody outside of Detroit expected it. We knew they were gonna be good, but not that good. They came out here and did a lot of surprising. So Yeah. Barry: They did. Nah. No. Yeah. I mean number one in the East, bro. So I mean, we'll see. And then, you know, I'm hoping J T comes out and shows out for Boston. Shaun: Yeah. I'm gonna have to send you this will be like later between me and you, but I'll have to send you something about JT a little bit later. There's a there Barry: Man H J T. Shaun: is a video talking about him and Brittany Greiner, but I'll I'll have to send you. man. It was it was pretty funny. I thought it I thought it was funny. You'll you'll get a kick out of it. Yeah, that's what it is. Like real real ball. Barry: bro, come on. There's don't even How crazy. No. Of course you did. I mean, I you know, I always laugh. It's all funny, bro. I don't take it that seriously. Yeah, Shaun: Heads and like they know. Yeah. Barry: I mean, who comes out of who, man. Regardless of what, you know, your affiliations and your loyalties are. I can always try Shaun: Yeah. I can respect it. Barry: and keep it real and respect it for sure. But Shaun: Yeah, just like J B. I mean J B's got the second game. Barry: Yo, I mean I'm excited, man. I really hope despite of all the craziness and LeBron and I hope JB's success. Just yes, I think he will. Like I mean, they have the every reason to go Shaun: Yeah. I mean he'll be successful. I I feel like it's pretty difficult not to be successful with I mean, knock on wood. But Barry: out and win it this year. Shaun: yeah. With that roster, they're they're gonna be a juggernaut in the East. You would think. Barry: They if you would think Shaun: As is I mean, as long as Embiid can stay healthy, that's a big part of it too. Yeah. Barry: I mean that's that's always it. That's every year. But he di some I saw he lost like fifty pounds. Shaun: Really? Barry: Fifty, five zero to be in shape for Bron. Shaun: Dang. I mean, okay, here's the thing though. We also see that every year with Zion. Yeah, we always see that. And both of them always end up getting injured at some point. Barry: True. He always is doing something in Zion. You ain't even wrong. He like always trying to come in like but yo, I just yeah, I was watching, what is it, 520 in the morning. Shout out to those dudes, bro. I love that show. But Shaun: Well yeah, those do this. Yeah. Barry: T Jeff T was talking about like, bro, you have every reason and the resource to be good and you just haven't because you choose not to. So Shaun: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Barry: and I get that the New Orleans organization is not the best to go to. But even in spite of that, bro has not taken care of himself and done the things that he should do to be Shaun: But I mean, that's the tough thing though, because look at the players that end up leaving. Like A D left, Jrue Holliday left. Barry: I know. They leave and win. Yeah. Shaun: Like if you think like even like all the way back to like Chris Paul, like like those like Yeah. Barry: Mm. I mean he never got one, but he was close. He got a lot closer outside than he ever did there. Shaun: It's like they leave and then they pop and then all of a sudden, like you can really see the potential, which is crazy. Barry: And that's why I say I get both sides of it, but I still agree with like what T was saying, bro. Like Shaun: Yeah. Barry: you should not be coming in out of shape and overweight ever as a professional athlete. That's literally your job is to be in shape and be able to play a sport. That's your job. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: And you get paid a lot of money to hire chefs and take care of yourself. I mean, there's no reason you shouldn't. Shaun: Like you were supposed to be the next face of the league. It was it was ready to come to you. Barry: Yo, like I mean, coming out of high school and through college, there's no reason he shouldn't have been. I Shaun: Yeah. Barry: mean but that I mean, he did get hurt and that's why it's I know there's a lot of luck, but there's a lot of choice. Like, does he get hurt if he's in better shape 'cause he's not as heavy as he was and I Shaun: Yeah. Barry: mean that's I mean, he's what? They were saying he was almost pushing like three hundred at some like one point and I mean to be a professional athlete at that level, bro. Shaun: I mean that that's the thing. He's always been a heavier guy. Like even when he was at Duke. Yeah. But yeah, it it's tough. I mean, especially when you're in New Orleans. I mean, the food is incredible in New Orleans. So yeah. But you've got Yeah. Yeah. Barry: He has and I get that. Like he's a s he's just a big dude. But not coming in like ex I mean, yo, the food is phenomenal. So I get it. But you could still have a chef come in and make you phenomenal things that are healthy for you. Or healthier. I don't even want to say necessarily healthy, but Shaun: Well, especially like like you said, and like you were mentioning Jeff was saying too, like all of the resources that you have when you think of one being a first overall draft pick. Barry: Yeah. There's no reason you shouldn't. The number one. Shaun: Yeah. And then also like all of the resources from the team and the trainers and all of that. So yeah, I don't know. We'll see. It like he'll I think he'll probably pop. Barry: And again, I'm excited because I hope all these people success and I want to see everybody come and compete. Like so it's not Shaun: Yeah. Barry: that I don't think it can happen. It's just disappointing that it hasn't happened yet. Yeah. Shaun: When it doesn't. Yeah. Barry: Like like you said, the just the potential, man. And Shaun: Yeah. Barry: to not I I mean, I know. What right? I couldn't imagine being there and having all that money and just living a life. But I don't know. That's why I'm not a professional athlete, 'cause I don't have that. Shaun: That's a tough one. That desire, that discipline, that drive. Yeah. It's too much. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Barry: I don't have it. I don't have any of it. I le I mean he at least he got the funds and the resources to do it. But I get it. That's what I'm like I can't fault the man, but it's just like I hope like at that level. If you got there, like in especially if it's natural talent and you like you could just put in more effort and you can be like next level. Yo, bounce Shaun: Duke can jump out of the ceiling, dog. Barry: bunnies, bro. Shaun: He he freaking bust a shoe open in the middle of a game when he was at Duke. Like, that's how strong and powerful you are. Yes. Barry: Silly. Just so strong. And he goes off when he plays, bro. Like he's a heck of a post player. Shaun: And he's had flashes in the league, it's just like pulling it all together. I don't I don't know. We'll see. Barry: A hundred percent, but just consistently pulling it together, man. I hope. I hope for Shaun: Yeah. Barry: him, man, for sure. But shout Shaun: It's gotta happen at some point. Barry: out to Zion, bro. Shaun: Yeah. So yeah, it starts off with the Celtics and the Pistons in Detroit. Then goes to New York for Philly versus the Knicks. And then talking about. Barry: I mean, I am looking forward to that, bro. Shaun: yeah, that's gonna be a really good one. And then I mean talking about like disappointments, Barry: Yeah. Speaking of J B in success. Shaun: it ends in San Antonio with OKC and the Spurs. So Barry: I mean, but that was a heck of a series, man. Like, I'm not gonna be mad at that game, probably. As much as I hate the Shaun: I know. Barry: Western Conference getting in the prime time game, but Shaun: Yeah. Barry: it's still probably gonna be pretty good as far as basketball's concern. But yeah. Shaun: it's gonna be a good game for sure. Yeah. Just those two teams, man. And I and at the end of the day, I don't have a problem with the Spurs. I like the Spurs, honestly. I like I like them as an organization. Yeah. But OKC, Barry: It's a good organization. It's probably one of the one yeah, it's probably ones I'm cool with like Shaun: I can't stand OKC, man. Barry: Yeah. But it'll be interesting. They did move Shaun: Yeah. Barry: some pieces like you mentioned. So I still feel they're gonna be good in the West. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Like top three. Worst case scenario. I just don't Shaun: yeah. Barry: see anybody else in the West outside of those two teams, bro, this year, surprisingly, Shaun: No. Barry: compared to last year. Shaun: Yeah. I mean there's I don't think there's a ton of competit like we still don't even know what's going on with Kawhi at this point. Like we don't even know where he's gonna end up or what's gonna happen there or I don't think it can. Barry: True. I d I don't know how that that trade goes through with everything I've heard and read on that, bro. Shaun: I I feel like there's no way the league can let that go through. Barry: No bro. If they do then it's just like y'all are just literally worried about what how y'all gonna Shaun: Yeah, there's definitely gotta be something in the C BA about that. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: We'll see. Dallas, I mean, if they're getting Kyrie back and now you've got Barry: Got Cooper. Shaun: like Cooper Flagg, like he's got a a few games under his belt now. He's starting to figure out the league and see how everything works. So that'll be really good. Barry: He hooped last year. But yo, Portland could kind of scary be good, bro. Shaun: I don't think they can. I I I don't think that they can just because of their ownership. I don't think their ownership is giving them the tools that they need in order to be really good. I don't even know, Barry: Who did they hire as the head coach? Do you know? Shaun: but there's no way they should have fired. dude. Barry: wouldn't one of the Orlando assistant coaches or am I crazy? Shaun: maybe. I don't even know. Let me see if I can find it. Barry: Feel like it was. But yo, their, I mean, Shaun: let's see. Barry: you got Dame Ja, Jrue Holiday. Shaun: Yeah, but Damon's coming back off injury, a major injury. Barry: Yo, I saw a video of him today looking fresh, bro. Like, I know it wasn't f it's not NBA. Shaun: We'll see. they got Micah Nori. Barry: Isn't it wasn't he an Or Orlando assistant or am I crazy? Shaun: no, he was with Denver and Minnesota. Like those are the two that come to mind. Yeah. Barry: that's right, that's right, that's right. Okay. I f I feel like one of the Orlando coaches got hired for some head coaching position. No, Shaun: Yeah. I mean he may have been he may have done a stint in Orlando, but Barry: I don't really know. I just remember s seeing or hearing that and I thought that was who it was. But I mean I don't really keep up with their ownership. But I I mean I have heard that like even in the past, like it's not the best organization when it comes to like treatment of players. So Shaun: Yeah. Barry: and I know that They might have too many guards. That's their problem. But Shaun: They are very guard heavy. Yeah. Barry: what's the dude that went off last year? Avdija? Deni Avdija I think is. No, I he's gonna be fine, bro. He's a good Shaun: I don't know if that's a bad thing in the West though. Yeah. Barry: forward. And then Klingon and then Robert Williams is still there. They got players, Shaun: Yeah. Barry: bro. Sharp. They have Sharp. Scoot. It's like they I mean, as I'm saying, it's Shaun: He scoots another guard though. He's a big guard, but Barry: They could either move them and try and bring some other pieces, but I feel like they have some potential. Dame can turn it back and be somewhat close to what he was, like Shaun: Yeah. Barry: and I mean, I don't know, Ja out here to already posting videos with quarter million dollar grills and stuff, bro. Like he just he he likes the likes to do it. He loves it. I hope that he can focus on basketball, man. I really do. Shaun: He loves it. Yeah. I I think he will. Well, I mean, what else are you gonna in well? I mean, Portland, I mean, you're in Oregon, so Barry: I am Portland, true. Shaun: I mean there's a lot of trouble. You can probably get in an Oregon. Barry: There might be other things out there. Shaun: but probably no weaponry that he'll be around, hopefully. Yeah. At least stay off of social media if you're gonna do it, dude. Barry: Hopefully not. Hopefully at least learn on that front, bro. But Portland could be interesting and yeah, that's what I'm like, bro. Live your life, but you don't gotta post it. We like we don't need to see that if you're gonna Shaun: Like Yeah. We don't Barry: do your thing. But you don't need to put yourself out there all the time. I mean just take a break. Pump pump breaks. Just think about it. Pause. Just a second, bro. Just pause. I want you to do good, ja. I mean maybe. Shaun: If we see it, the league sees it. So stop. Just stop. Yes. For a second. maybe take two or three. I don't know. Barry: But I don't know, first day will be good. Like I say, I'm interested to see Shaun: First day will be good. Yeah. Barry: what New York looks like I mean, defending champs, crazy it is to say that out loud. Shaun: Think we get a repeat? Barry: I don't think so, bro. I don't think they got any better. And I think that a lot of other teams, aka the Sixers are better Shaun: Yeah. Barry: on paper. But it I Shaun: Yeah. Barry: mean but and again we're talking about day one. There's no telling what everything's gonna True. Shaun: The Spurs were better on paper too. Yeah. Barry: Yeah, no, I I mean I picked the Spurs, but it all matter all that matters is what you're looking like going into the second round of the playoffs. 'Cause Shaun: Yeah. Barry: that's when I mean New York really got on their heater. Health and luck. It's a big part of it, bro. Mm-hmm. So Yeah. Shaun: Health and luck. So that's a it's a lot of health and luck when you have such a long season. But yeah. Opening day is gonna be pretty great. I'm I'm really excited about opening day. Christmas is gonna be another one that is dog. I'm Barry: Yo Shaun: not leaving the couch on Christmas, apparently. Like Adam Silver was in his bag when he made that Christmas schedule. Yeah. Man, like Barry: Christmas I d I was I don't know. We may need he he was trying to get people. Trying to get people. No, okay, so going back to the open day, that's one of the things I read is why the all the games are so early, is cause he's trying to hit the European market. Shaun: okay. I mean that makes sense. Barry: He's trying to get them prime time viewership as and then Shaun: Yeah. Barry: just give us more. Shaun: There's been a lot of effort in like having games overseas. So it makes sense that you try to bring them in to the market a little bit more. Barry: Mm. Yeah, he's trying to and I was like, Yeah, I mean I guess that makes sense. But still two o'clock on a I don't even know what day it is. Thursday Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I think, Wednesday, Thursday, something like that. Shaun: Well, I mean, even speaking of that, so before we even get to like Christmas Day, let's talk about the regular season. I am I'm kind of disappointed in the way that the regular season has built out. There are if if you had to take a guess at how many broadcasting or broadcasters, I guess there are for the regular season, how many would you think? Barry: Like how many s different stations? Networks. Shaun: How many different like networks, stations? Yeah. What did you say? Barry: let's see. We got Prime, NBC's back in it, ABC for sure with ESPN. Do you count those separate or same? Shaun: Yeah, those are separate. Barry: So then that's four. Shaun: Former. Barry: League Pass gets in a lot of games. That's five. I know you have Shaun: We'll talk about that. Yeah. Barry: opinions, but we were talking about that already. Those will be my five. I don't know outside of that. Shaun: There are eight. Barry: Who the else got in? Shaun: So you mentioned NBC, ABC, ESPN, Prime, Peacock is one. But there are gonna be Peacock exclusives. Yeah. Yeah. There's also Barry: Well that's NBC, no? You count those separate. I got you. Well then I would have said that, okay, so six, got it. Shaun: gonna be NBC SN, which it sounds like those are gonna be exclusive games too. Barry: really? Shaun: Yeah. And then it sounds like there might be some what was the other one? There was one more. crap. I don't remember what it was, but there was one more, and it was it wasn't Telemundo. No, it is Telemundo, it's Telemundo, yeah. And then Telemundo Barry: Really? Shaun: is another one. Yeah. But dude, League Barry: Interesting. Shaun: Pass, you mentioned League Pass. There are so many games that are locked into League Pass. I'm yeah, I'm not paying for it. Barry: I will not pay for League Pass, bro. I'm not. Shaun: I don't like just looking at the schedule, like if you scroll through it, it's League Pass on repeat. For the grand majority of the schedule. And if that's what I'm saying. Barry: That's sad, bro. They must have paid that money to get to get them games, man. I feel like we talked about this for last season, how like Prime and Peacock and NBC like Shaun: Yeah. Barry: paid a crap ton of money to get. Shaun: Well, and even with like the whole idea behind the NBA Cup was to bring in like more excitement, more viewership early on in the season. Barry: I saw they're playing it at some field house. It's not even in Vegas no more. The championship game is at s all those games are on leap? then I'm definitely not watching it. But a large section. Yeah, I definitely won't Shaun: I don't even know about that, but it it's all League Pass. Well, not all of them, but I would say probably ninety percent of them are on League Pass. Barry: watch that. Shaun: Yeah. I'm like the whole idea behind having this tournament early on in the season was to bring people in to watch the season earlier because it's so long and you're trying to compete with the NFL in those months. If you take it away, what Barry: That's tough, man. Shaun: what good does it do? Barry: I'm not you know I how I feel about League Pass. I'm not or I'm not League Pass, the NBA Cup. I'm not the biggest fan. I d I'm not. I that's part of the reason why I don't like They look crazy. That stuff is ridiculous. Yeah. Shaun: NBA Cup. Yeah. I do like the courts I like when they switch it up and they do the the special courts It's fun, dude. It breaks it up a little bit. Barry: I mean, I get trying to drive like competitiveness at the beginning of the season, but I don't know. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. I don't know. I d I just think that that was a miss. I I understand from a financial standpoint, like trying to bring in more money with League Pass and keeping it going that way, but I Barry: I'm not gonna go pay for it, so Shaun: don't know. Yeah. I f I feel like taking away the access isn't the move to make, but Barry: I feel like I'm a NBA fan, but I will not go pay for that. Shaun: Yeah. I'm not paying like I don't even know how much it is because I've never bought it, but I feel like it's usually around like the like a couple hundred bucks. Yeah. Yeah. On Barry: No, I feel like it's it's not a I'm gonna say it's not anything that makes sense to watch NBA games. Shaun: top of already having to have some sort of network or some other sort Barry: All the others. Mm-hmm. Shaun: of like TV provider so that you can watch all the other games. It's like, dude, might as well just stick with football or co. Barry: Yep. A hundred percent. No. yeah, so the NBA Cup final Hinkle Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. No longer in Vegas. Shaun: Really? Why? Barry: I don't know. Shaun: Hmm. Barry: So Shaun: That'll be interesting. Barry: something happened, bro. I don't know. I don't know why not Vegas. I get Vegas that who doesn't want to watch a game in Vegas? And I'm talking, I mean Shaun: Yeah. Barry: that feeds into expansion there. Shaun: True. Yeah, because that's happening. That's already been approved. So it's gonna Barry: Mm hmm. Shaun: happen. Barry: I guess maybe the next are they trying to expand another team to Indiana? I highly doubt it. Shaun: no. I if anything, I think the Pacers would probably end up leaving at some point. But they can't because now they have the fever. So I mean you have to have the Pacers there if you're gonna have Barry: True that. True that. Shaun: the fever. Barry: Yeah. Yeah. Maybe we're maze. Maybe. Shaun: I don't know. Maybe maybe more space. If if they're doing it in that like I don't know. I don't know if that's a larger arena or stadium, but Barry: No clue. Shaun: yeah. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: Mm. We'll see. But yeah, Christmas Day, dog. He I don't know. In their ear when they made that Christmas Day schedule. Barry: Why you say that Shaun: Dude, because it's like back to back nothing but incredible games. there are usually good games on Christmas, but dude, you start off with the Spurs and the Knicks. Championship finals replay. Barry: Championship rematch. Shaun: Yeah. And then you go into one of the biggest rivalries in the league, Miami and Boston, which is very important to us, dog. I I don't think that I've ever texted you a whole lot on Christmas Day. Barry: Let's go. Yo. We might have to get together on Christmas Day, bro. We might have to get together on Christmas Day for that one. We might have to figure out something. I don't know, but you'll probably be going back home, so maybe not. Shaun: We might have to make something happen. man. Dude, I can I can wait until Saturday to go home because Christmas is on a Friday. Just go Barry: I mean you might need to, bro. You might need to. Shaun: home for a couple days and then come back. But dog, Barry: So Shaun: and then you leave that and then you go to Philly and the Lakers. So Bron versus Bronny. Dude, Barry: Yeah. Bronny going back home. Shaun: what are the chances that you think that JJ Redick puts Bronny in? And Bron switches on him. What do you think those chances are? It's it's gotta happen, right? Yeah, I feel like it has to happen. Y Barry: I mean I feel like that's gonna happen. That's gotta happen. It's gonna they're gonna make that happen. Why wouldn't you? Shaun: if you want numbers, that's how you do it. That's how you do it. Mm. Barry: Yo, if you want viewership, Silver is making that call. Like y'all need to make this one happen. I don't care if it's in the fourth quarter, this needs to happen. Yeah. For sure. Shaun: It's just going to happen at some point. But then you leave there and then you go to OKC in Minnesota. So we get to we get to see Ant Man and Melo on Christmas Day. Barry: Could be a fun game, bro. Melo and ant bro. Shaun: That's a gift in itself. Just having those two. Barry: Yeah, I am looking forward to them, bro. Shaun: I really hope that Minnesota wins that game because I have to see that post-game interview with the two of them on Christmas Day. my gosh. Yes, that would be the best thing ever. Barry: If they win that one, that would be hilarious. Hilarious. Shaun: I feel like honestly, even if they lose. Seeing the postgame back in the locker room. I think that would be hilarious too. Yeah. Yeah. Those two don't miss. Yes. Barry: It would be good either way. No matter what. No. Shaun: That's gonna be a good one. it does. The very last one. Yeah. That's one like at that point, I'll go to bed. I'll be good by that point. Yeah. Mm-hmm. The last Barry: The only one that I'm not looking forward to is the last one. I'll be asleep by then now 9 30. Perfect. I can get all that in and go to bed. Sign me up. Shaun: one for those of you that don't know. The last one is Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors. Meh. Barry: Feel like the Nuggets will take that one. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Like the Warriors, I just bruh. I feel bad for Everybody's old on that. We were talking about that, you know, the they are all old, man. I feel bad. Shaun: The Warriors haven't done anything. They haven't made any moves. Draymond's old. Steph is Steph is up there. Yeah. They haven't done anything to the roster. They're in a rebuild right. They're in an active rebuild right now, but they're not actually doing any rebuilding, which is crazy. Barry: active. They aren't doing it nothing. Shaun: Do you think that Steve Kerr leaves when Steph and Draymond leave? I feel like he's maybe got one or two Barry: I would not be surprised. Shaun: left. Barry: I he's n I from what I've seen he has not done a good job of building the future. Shaun: No, they they don't really have a future at this point right now. Barry: No. Shaun: I don't I don't even I this kind of goes back to something that we talked to on a couple episodes ago. But I I just don't understand the loyalty aspect. I get it, this is where you've always played, you want to be one of those one team players and have a legacy in Golden State. But if if you want to get one more, you you have to leave. Barry: Come to Boston Steph, please. Get you one 'cause that's your best chance. Shaun: Don't go, don't go to Boston, Steph. No, you're gonna be way too guard heavy if you go to Boston Steph. Don't do it. Come to Miami, Steph. Come to Miami. We need a shooter. We've got Giannis. We've got Bam. Barry: N what? No, they would trade a guard away. No. No. Bo, you got a better chance with JT. Shaun: Bro, you've got so much to put around you if you come to Miami. All we need them to do is shoot. Barry: No, bro. They need too much out of Steph, there. Boston Nah, bro. They would be too dependent on him. Shaun: All we need we just need him to run the baseline and shoot. Barry: Steph, go ahead. You know Ayesha don't want you going to Miami. There's too much trouble there. Just come to Boston and hoop, bro. Shaun: No. Dude, you've been in California all of this time. Why not? Why not why not come to the beach? Nah, you don't wanna not the cold of Boston. Yeah, you don't wanna go there. And people were rude in Boston. You don't wanna be around all that. Barry: Yeah, Northern California. It ain't like Miami, bro. It's cold in Northern California. He's used to the cold. Come on. Come on. I mean, Boston is different cold, but still, no, he does. They it's another level. I'll give you that. Southern hospitality is a thing, but I don't think that exists in Miami either. Yo, Steph, come to Boston, bro. I'd shoot my shot. Please. Shaun: I like how we're shooting our shot to get Steph to come behind scenes. no. If if you really wanna do something big. Barry: You kidding? Mazzulla ball, bro, you come shoot as much as you want. We shoot fifty Shaun: His Barry: we shoot fifty a game. Ain't nobody else coming close to that in the NBA, bro. Shaun: He just won a he just won a gold medal with Spo on the on the coaching stuff. Nah. Barry: Come on, bro. No. Come on. Get you some threes up. Shaun: Imagine going from a head coach that you know in Steve Kerr and coming to another head coach that you know in Eric Spoolstra. Barry: To a phenomenally young and out of the box coach who will do crazy things to make your life better. Shaun: No, no. A coach is gonna yell at you and treat you like a rookie. No. Come come to Miami. Barry: Yes, sir. No, he won't. Are you crazy, bro? You like Mazzulla You can't even talk trash about that man. No, bro. Shaun: come to Miami where you know that you've got a coach that you already know, you've got a president that you already know, it's gonna be great. Barry: Yo, did you see that like what's his name? The GM for Dunleavy for he Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: was like w it's really up to Steph at this point. if he asks for a trade, we'll trade him. If not, he's gonna retire here. Shaun: I mean that's perfect. Go to Miami. Barry: So it really is up to Steph. So Steph, Shaun: Yeah. Barry: hashtag Steph Curry, come on. Shaun: that's right. Come and get you a ring in Miami. You should do it. Barry: You look good in that Boston Green. Shaun: you'd look even better in that black and red, bro. Goodness. Barry: No bro. Come come play with your boy JT. Shaun: Nobody wants to play with JT. That's why he was on the bench so much in the Olympics. Barry: Yeah they do. That's just bullshit, you know that. Everybody knows that. Shaun: man. But yeah, Barry: But no. Shaun: I I think this is gonna be a really good season, man. I'm I'm really excited about the NBA this season. Yeah. Barry: Yeah, I'm so excited for it. I am. I really am. Like I wish preseason was like next week, like straight up. Shaun: I know. I've I've been itching. Not only for college football that is actually coming out in a few weeks, but the NBA season, dude. I'm so excited for it. Yeah. Barry: True, right? No, I'm excited, man. I feel like it's gonna be super competitive this year. Like Shaun: Yeah. Barry: just across the board. Even though I think it really does only come down to San Antonio and OKC in the West. The East has gotten a lot better. Or Shaun: A lot better. Barry: at least based off the what I've you know, what I see on paper. Shaun: Yeah. I feel like the East right now is like the twenty eighteens East, like twenty thirteen, twenty fourteen, fifteen. Like those years where the East was like super competitive. Yeah, I feel like we're back in those times right now. Mm-hmm. Barry: Mm hmm. Competitive, bro. The Bulls. Yeah, bro. When D Rose is out there with Butler and them hooping. Shaun: Tabias Harris over me. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: Every time I think of Jimmy Butler, that's what I think of. He's another one on the on the Warriors that's like getting older and the injury, like. Barry: all I can go to. I feel bad yeah, but that's what I I mean and maybe they'll I don't know, maybe the old heads will pull it together and they can Shaun: I mean come back you can come back to Miami too, dog. We'll we'll just take you and Steph. We'll we'll take both of you. Barry: Nah, I don't think he would bro. I don't even think he would Shaun: He n he knows it's home. He knows that he wants to be back. Barry: But any notable games for your heat that you l saw that you excited outside of the Christmas day? Shaun: I mean not really. There's nothing that's like super exciting for me. And I mean Barry: Bruh Shaun: the vast majority of them are in gonna end up being on the freaking league pass anyway. Yeah, so I'm not gonna be able to Barry: A league pass anyway. That's so whack, bro. Shaun: see most of Barry: So Shaun: no. They they do pay the Timberwolves on ESPN, so I will one hundred percent be watching that. and then there's a one? One or two games with Dallas. so I'll definitely be watching that too. But What about the Celtics? Anything for you? Barry: Yeah, bro. I mean, they play Philly like November tenth, Shaun: Okay. Barry: I believe. it's first games in in Philly, but then they they rotate. They literally go Philly, Boston, Philly, Boston. So I am definitely excited about those matchups, bro. Like I feel like it's gonna be Hope it's just him and JT and JB going at each. I really hope that. Like I'm so excited about that, sadly. Cause it w I mean I think that's just gonna be good basketball, bro. No, I'm sad cause JB's no longer a Celtic. I really am bro. Like it hurts. It hurts, man. Shaun: Why? Yeah, I mean there's nothing to be sad about. It's gonna be good. okay, I feel you. I mean it sucks when you have a cornerstone of your team leave. and what am I talking Milwaukee? I forgot about that. The Milwaukee game. I have to watch that one too. That's gonna be a really good one. 'Cause that's in that's in Miami, I think. But yeah, I don't it it's tough when you lose like really good players. Well especially when the player that left is Arguably the best player on the roster. Barry: One A, one B, bro. I feel like on a given night you could argue. I don't know. Shaun: I mean, yeah. Yeah. Barry: I will give it to JT. He he averaged thirty while playing with a lot of so I'm and like I say, I'm just looking forward to seeing what he does too, man. Now that it's he's got his shot to to show that it's his team. Shaun: Yeah. If it is we'll we'll have to see. Yeah, I mean he's kind of the only one, yeah. Barry: So I mean it is, bro. It ain't if it is, it is now. JB's gone. Yeah. Nah, I mean they got like I say, they they literally Shaun: He's the only one. Barry: they got Paul George, bro. As old as Paul George, that dude hooped. No, bro. Shaun: He's the only one. Barry: They got Pritchard. Derek White better have a bounce back season, bro. I really hope he does. He didn't play his Shaun: I will say that Paul George is by far the most valuable player in league history. Like for all of the different people that he's been traded for, Barry: Yo people sleep on that man, bro. Shaun: like he has been traded for an insane, an insane list of incredible players. Barry: A lot of big names. A lot of big names. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: I mean, he may never get a ring, but that's something to hang your hat on. Barry: He's gonna get one this year when Steph comes and they all go. No, 'cause I think he would actually be part of that trade, so he probably wouldn't be. Unfortunately, he Shaun: Steph is not going to Boston. Yeah, they would yeah, they probably trade him to get Steph. Barry: probably would be the casualty of that trade. But no, not to me as a Celtic, no. No, I Shaun: Man. Is that a casualty though if you're getting the stuff? I don't think so. Not at all. Yeah. Barry: like you say loyalty, but I I mean I appreciate him if he plays for the Celtics, but if he's part of the the step to get to the that next level. I mean, I am excited to see him with that PG Shaun: It is what it is. Barry: thirteen. Shaun: my god. That that is back old school. We'll see if playoff P comes back. Playoff P. Yeah. Speaking of like Barry: That's what I'm saying. I hope he turns back the clock, bro. He goes back to them days. Yo, he looked good in the playoffs. He was fresh. Shaun: turning back the clock and looking good, Ben Simmons, dog. He's he's gearing up for a return. I don't know. He's gearing up for a return, bro. Barry: Man, get outta here. Get outta here, bro. No. No, bro. No, he ain't coming back. Shaun: Right, we'll see. Barry: Philly don't need that man. Shaun: I mean, maybe not Philly, but he's he's a good distributor. Barry: Nobody need I'm sorry, bro. No. Talk Shaun: He could he could run point. You can't Barry: Yeah. Shaun: tell me that there's not a starting point guard that he can't replace. I feel like there's gotta be one somewhere that he can replace. I don't know, but there's gotta be one somewhere. Barry: Who? I don't believe that statement, actually, Shaun. Tell me one, and now we could talk about it, but as a seventh or eighth man, maybe. No, bro. I saw highlights Shaun: I think he can I think he can add value to a team somewhere. As a big as a big guard. I think he can. we'll see. Barry: of him today too, and I was not impressed. I mean, sure. Shaun: Hater's gonna hate. Barry: I'm not a Ben Simmons fan, so. Shaun: Yeah. I I I was so ready for him to come into the league because he's so much talent. Gosh, he had so much talent in in college. High school too, but in college, man. I Barry: He had a lot of potential. A lot of potential. Shaun: I don't know, we'll see. We'll Barry: But yeah. Shaun: see what happens from there. All right, man. Well let's get out of here. NBA season. It's gonna be phenomenal. It's great. Thank you all for coming to kick Barry: Excited. Shaun: it with us, hang out for a little bit as we kind of geek out and like fanboy over over the NBA season. Barry: So ready. I'm so ready. I hope y'all are too, if y'all are NBA fans. Or if you're not, Shaun: Yes. Barry: come see it because it's going to be spectacular, bro. I'm excited. Shaun: Yes. Adam Silver, we've had our ups and downs with you, bro, but you did your thing with this Christmas schedule this year. Barry: Just get rid of the NBA Cup, bro. Let's just just toss it up. Let's just say we tried it. It was okay. And let's just get back to basketball. Shaun: I think the NBA's good. I th I think we keep the NBA Cup just how what Barry: What about okay? Shaun: can we do to reduce these league pass games? Like how can we have more nationally broadcasted games? That'd be incredible. Yeah. Barry: I mean true that. True that. I'll give you that. Yeah, make it more accessible. I'm not trying to we out here all struggling, man. We ain't trying to have to pay for some Shaun: Yeah. Barry: more TV access, bro. Just make it accessible. Yeah. For sure. And make the good ones available. The good ones. Shaun: Yes. Give the NFL a a run for its money. Like make make more games available. Well I don't know. Yes. The Miami and Boston Games, the Philly and Boston Games, the Miami and Milwaukee Games. All of those. Barry: All of these Shaun: All of Barry: All of these Shaun: man.
