- 0:00Speaker 1: For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show Podcast,
- 0:05Speaker 1: get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, or
- 0:10Speaker 1: Raw Doggy, four to seven every weekday, on Radio Hodaki.
- 0:15Speaker 2: On Radio Hodaki.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Backbone.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Hello.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Hello.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello. Oh, g'day, fellas. Have we started? Oh, right. I
- 0:23Speaker 2: wasn't even paying attention. G'day, fellas.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Unbelievable.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Jase, man, I played the official intro and everything.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
- 0:29Speaker 5: I thought it was literally just something playing on the
- 0:31Speaker 5: radio and I was like, oh, right.
- 0:32Speaker 3: You said you were going to go, mate?
- 0:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 0:34Speaker 3: But you were trolling buzzies.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Well, yes. That's how I get into the show.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Phil. Did you guys play golf today? Sort of.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I don't want to talk about it, man.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Another shitter. Both a couple of fucking losers.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Fucking terrible.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. It's over for you.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I'm done with golf. I'm out.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Yeah, good.
- 0:54Speaker 4: The thing with Jase is he's a very good golfer.
- 0:56Speaker 4: What's happening at the moment? Is he very good? Yeah. Like,
- 1:00Speaker 4: for someone like me, when Jase is playing well, I think, man,
- 1:03Speaker 4: I wish I could play that well.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Yeah, right.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Like, and we're talking low 90s.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. Which is great.
- 1:07Speaker 4: So about 20 over par.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Yeah, about 20 over par.
- 1:09Speaker 4: But in my opinion, that is very good for someone
- 1:12Speaker 4: who's not playing five times a week.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And is 80.
- 1:14Speaker 4: And is 80 years of age.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Oh, you're 80 now. You're 80 when it suits you.
- 1:18Speaker 3: You're 80 when it suits you or you're 39.
- 1:21Speaker 4: But his thing now is whenever he goes to chip.
- 1:25Speaker 4: His brain is full of, I fucking suck at this.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I'm fucking chipping.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Here we go.
- 1:29Speaker 4: This is going to be a fucking nightmare.
- 1:30Speaker 3: So then do you get somebody who's not as good
- 1:32Speaker 3: at giving you advice? No.
- 1:34Speaker 2: He's not giving you advice?
- 1:35Speaker 4: All I say to him is think positive thoughts.
- 1:38Speaker 3: That's not how Jase operates at his best. Jase operates
- 1:42Speaker 3: at his best by calling himself a piece of shit.
- 1:45Speaker 2: You play a nice tee shot, Mogi.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Here we fucking go. What's the point?
- 1:49Speaker 2: You're just off the green. What do you shoot? Seven.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Four chips. Four chips that go five metres.
- 1:58Speaker 4: It's because he's too tense, Mogi. How do we relax
- 2:01Speaker 4: him with the chipping, man?
- 2:03Speaker 3: Just go down the driving range. You're a bum.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I am a bum.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Or go and get some lessons.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah, well, see.
- 2:10Speaker 3: You won't do that.
- 2:10Speaker 2: No, I'm going to go on YouTube.
- 2:12Speaker 3: That would be like going to a doctor, you know,
- 2:15Speaker 3: to fix a problem. But instead you prefer the moan.
- 2:17Speaker 2: It started off okay and then fell apart.
- 2:20Speaker 4: How about this, all right? Because Jase won't go and
- 2:22Speaker 4: get lessons.
- 2:23Speaker 1: No.
- 2:24Speaker 4: And he's even said, I'm not going to play anymore
- 2:26Speaker 4: until I've fixed my chip.
- 2:27Speaker 3: So I'm like, cool.
- 2:27Speaker 4: So now I've got no playing partner.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's over.
- 2:29Speaker 4: So how about this? If anyone listening lives in Auckland
- 2:32Speaker 4: and is a golf coach and wants to help Hoity
- 2:34Speaker 4: J with his chipping. Message me on Instagram.
- 2:38Speaker 2: What do you want help with, Keezy?
- 2:40Speaker 4: I don't care. Because I'm happy just that you've seen
- 2:44Speaker 4: me play, man. I'm shit at everything. Nah, man.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Come on.
- 2:46Speaker 4: But, like, if my playing partner's not going to play
- 2:48Speaker 4: with me anymore.
- 2:49Speaker 2: No, play. I was just fuming.
- 2:52Speaker 3: It gets to you.
- 2:53Speaker 2: It's fucking annoying, man. It's an exasperating game.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Everything else is going good in just one facet, but
- 3:00Speaker 5: you have to play that shot in every hole.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Why don't you just hit it into the hole on
- 3:05Speaker 3: the first one?
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah, we could do that.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Nah, I think eight hits is good.
- 3:10Speaker 3: At least everything else in the world disappears, I'd imagine.
- 3:16Speaker 3: You're only thinking about this part of your life that sucks.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Not all of the other areas of your life that suck.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Oh, no, they infiltrate as well. You know what I mean?
- 3:25Speaker 3: This is why I'm in a miserable marriage.
- 3:30Speaker 4: But if you let something nice come into your head
- 3:32Speaker 4: as you're about to chip and concentrate on that, I
- 3:34Speaker 4: reckon it would make a difference.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I think a clear mind, an entirely clear mind.
- 3:39Speaker 2: You know what I.
- 3:39Speaker 5: Think works is to just not give a fuck.
- 3:44Speaker 4: But we don't know how to do that.
- 3:46Speaker 2: And I start the last two holes he played bogey, bogey, solid.
- 3:50Speaker 3: That's good.
- 3:50Speaker 5: And it's because I was like, oh, well, fuck this.
- 3:53Speaker 5: And then it pissed down with rain, so we cut out.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Yeah, we were wet.
- 3:57Speaker 2: We got all soggy.
- 3:58Speaker 4: I was sopping wet.
- 3:59Speaker 2: And then we had to walk up this massive fucking
- 4:01Speaker 2: hill in the rain.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Hootie J took a while. By the time I was
- 4:05Speaker 4: in my car.
- 4:06Speaker 2: He was way ahead.
- 4:07Speaker 4: I put my clubs away, put my trundler away, was
- 4:10Speaker 4: in hopping in my car just as Hootie J came
- 4:11Speaker 4: up to the car park.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Oh, God. Huffing and wheezing. The Hauraki Big Show.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. Now, that's good listening.
- 4:23Speaker 2: And it's live.
- 4:24Speaker 3: What are you listening to there?
- 4:27Speaker 2: Oh, me? Oh, sorry.
- 4:28Speaker 5: I was listening to the Radio Hauraki Big Show.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Right. Four to seven weekdays.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that's quite specific.
- 4:38Speaker 4: And I heart radio.
- 4:40Speaker 2: What?
- 4:41Speaker 3: Cheers.
- 4:43Speaker 4: The Horaki Big Show Podcast.
- 4:45Speaker 2: How was your day anyway, Mogi?
- 4:46Speaker 3: Better than yours.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know.
- 4:48Speaker 4: No, I had a pretty good day.
- 4:49Speaker 3: It's still good.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Shit golf's better than working.
- 4:52Speaker 3: No, it was good. It was a bit of a
- 4:54Speaker 3: rough start. I won't get into it. It was a
- 4:56Speaker 3: bit of a rough start.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And then I went and saw the Oasis doco with
- 5:03Speaker 3: my wife. Nice. Which was good.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Like this morning?
- 5:06Speaker 3: Midday it was.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Wow.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Nice. The first screening of it came out today. Oh, wow.
- 5:11Speaker 3: It was at IMAX of their tour, you know, them
- 5:13Speaker 3: getting back together and the tour all around the place
- 5:17Speaker 3: and all that carry on.
- 5:17Speaker 4: Was there much live footage for IMAX?
- 5:19Speaker 3: There was a lot of live footage.
- 5:20Speaker 1: A lot.
- 5:21Speaker 2: A lot.
- 5:22Speaker 3: She's pretty good. She's pretty good. Yeah, man. She's pretty good.
- 5:26Speaker 2: So are they going to make billions out of that
- 5:28Speaker 2: as well? Because they're rich.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yeah, they are. They are rich. They're rich anyway, though,
- 5:32Speaker 3: to be fair. But it is interesting, but it's not
- 5:35Speaker 3: as good as I was hoping it was going to be.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Right, okay.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Which is a shame. Because what I like is, well,
- 5:41Speaker 3: I like all of it, but I like the brothers
- 5:45Speaker 3: becoming brothers again. I like the reunion. I like the
- 5:48Speaker 3: burying the hatchet. I like sorting things out. But I
- 5:51Speaker 3: want to see some hatchet first. That's something in me,
- 5:55Speaker 3: I think, from childhood. Yes. So I really love that stuff,
- 5:59Speaker 3: but they didn't really go into it.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Except to say really at the end that they just
- 6:04Speaker 3: get along really well and the things that used to
- 6:06Speaker 3: bother each other about each other are just gone. And
- 6:10Speaker 3: we managed to get there without having any conversation about
- 6:12Speaker 3: it at all. So because they're so completely non-communicative, even
- 6:16Speaker 3: after 15 years of not talking to each other at all,
- 6:20Speaker 3: living in London, having kids that are exactly the same age,
- 6:22Speaker 3: never met each other.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:24Speaker 3: They got back together to do this and they still
- 6:26Speaker 3: didn't talk to each other about any of that shit.
- 6:28Speaker 1: No.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Which I find unbelievable. really fucking annoying.
- 6:31Speaker 5: Yes.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Because I wanted to see them sit down and talk
- 6:33Speaker 3: about how they'd fucked it up and they love each other.
- 6:36Speaker 3: That's all I wanted. Yeah, man. You know? Yeah, I
- 6:38Speaker 3: get it. They did it in their own way.
- 6:40Speaker 4: I mean, at the end of the day, a certain
- 6:42Speaker 4: amount of money will make you do that.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Will make you do... Get back together.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Forget everything. You know what I mean? Like a certain
- 6:50Speaker 4: amount of.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's... Like a hundred bucks for me. Yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 3: I don't think they... they're really good mates now they
- 6:59Speaker 3: made that clear and they texted they said they're more
- 7:01Speaker 3: in contact now than they've ever been in their lives
- 7:03Speaker 3: well that's great they text each other stupid videos like
- 7:05Speaker 3: you two idiots yes so they're doing all that stuff
- 7:08Speaker 3: so they are really good mates so it's not about
- 7:10Speaker 3: the money because they're fucking loaded they're absolutely loaded yeah
- 7:15Speaker 3: but to be able to go back and even it
- 7:16Speaker 3: was interesting because Noel Gallagher at the start of that
- 7:19Speaker 3: very first gig in Cardiff and they played those sort
- 7:21Speaker 3: of arenas their whole lives yeah but he said the
- 7:25Speaker 3: first 40 minutes he was just fucked by just completely
- 7:30Speaker 3: blown away by the reaction and he wanted to stop
- 7:33Speaker 3: it and go out the back and just have five
- 7:35Speaker 3: minutes and go okay this is what it is okay
- 7:38Speaker 3: i'm ready to go on stage.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Yeah yeah but he was out there like holy fuck.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Freaking out completely he said he was completely freaking out
- 7:45Speaker 3: for the first he can't remember any of the first
- 7:46Speaker 3: 40 minutes he can't remember no it was the songwriter
- 7:49Speaker 3: the songwriter and liam who's the singer he goes yeah
- 7:51Speaker 3: he looked really nervous you know the He looked really nervous.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I'm not being arrogant or nothing, but I didn't give
- 7:56Speaker 3: a fuck.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, that's him though, right?
- 7:59Speaker 2: He doesn't give a fuck.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Absolutely brilliant. So it is a brilliant documentary, but I
- 8:03Speaker 3: just didn't get the, it didn't scratch the itch I had.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 5: And that's totally understandable because, you know, the expectations would
- 8:12Speaker 5: have been huge.
- 8:14Speaker 2: And so there's a fucking lot to go back on.
- 8:16Speaker 5: If you haven't done it for a while and have
- 8:19Speaker 5: these huge crowds going, yes, you'd be.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Like, fuck. Yeah, it is. And I think it's good.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Even if you don't like Oasis, I think it's a
- 8:25Speaker 3: great thing to watch because it does speak to that
- 8:28Speaker 3: sort of unity that people are seeking in this day
- 8:32Speaker 3: and age. But they're saying that most of the audience now,
- 8:35Speaker 3: they're 30. Yes. Most of the audience is 30.
- 8:39Speaker 4: 30.
- 8:39Speaker 3: And so they weren't even born.
- 8:41Speaker 4: I thought it would be older.
- 8:42Speaker 3: They're about 30 or younger. Yeah, right. So looking out
- 8:44Speaker 3: and there's all these people that weren't even born when
- 8:45Speaker 3: this music was out.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 3: And yet those are all the people that are out there.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:49Speaker 3: So really weird and Noel was saying that he spent
- 8:52Speaker 3: a lot of his time with his back to the
- 8:54Speaker 3: audience because he'd be looking out and there'd be fathers
- 8:56Speaker 3: and sons hugging and that, and he'd just burst into
- 8:59Speaker 3: tears and he'd just have to look at the back
- 9:01Speaker 3: of the stage because you can't let another man see
- 9:03Speaker 3: you cry. That's one of the rules, Keezy. Fuck no.
- 9:04Speaker 3: I don't know if you know that, but that's one
- 9:06Speaker 3: of the rules.
- 9:07Speaker 4: No one's ever seen me cry, man.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Fucking oats.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's good. But in fact, and weirdly enough,
- 9:13Speaker 3: but the sound was really good. but I think it
- 9:15Speaker 3: might be better on a smaller television.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Yeah, right, okay.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Which wouldn't be the first time somebody said that about
- 9:19Speaker 3: an IMAX. Oh, man. It's fucking massive. They're fucking huge.
- 9:22Speaker 4: It's fucking, it.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Does my head in. It is overkill for me.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Something between a big cinema and IMAX, just a bit
- 9:31Speaker 4: smidgen smaller. Although I must admit, for the Odyssey, I
- 9:33Speaker 4: thoroughly enjoyed it.
- 9:34Speaker 3: It was just a bit muddy, some of the audio.
- 9:36Speaker 3: I couldn't understand what they were saying.
- 9:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it's so loud that it's like I can't even
- 9:40Speaker 5: fucking hear it, weirdly.
- 9:41Speaker 4: I can't even hear it. I can't hear that.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Anyway, that's out now. Treat yourselves. I absolutely think get
- 9:47Speaker 3: along whether you like them or not. Yeah, it was good.
- 9:50Speaker 3: It was real good.
- 9:51Speaker 4: I saw Jase cry today.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Oh, about his golf. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, man.
- 9:56Speaker 5: Well, I mean, you know, just let it– I don't
- 9:58Speaker 5: worry about crying in.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Front of the fans.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Time I saw you cry, Jase, was– what was that?
- 10:02Speaker 3: Was that on Monday?
- 10:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:06Speaker 3: And under the bridge from the Redhawk Chilli Peppers was playing,
- 10:08Speaker 3: and Jase was just standing there sort of staring off
- 10:10Speaker 3: into the middle distance and just one tear rolling down
- 10:14Speaker 3: his cheek.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Because those lyrics, man, they'll get you.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Oh, they do. They do, man.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Oh, no, it wasn't Under the Bridge. It was Danny California.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Oh, I thought it was Rollercoaster of Love.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Oh, Rollercoaster of Love.
- 10:25Speaker 3: That's what it was. I thought it was I'm a
- 10:27Speaker 3: Little Pea, One Hot Minute.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Well, it could have been any of those. Could have
- 10:31Speaker 2: been any of those, fellas.
- 10:32Speaker 3: He just gets it. Yeah. Can I say that?
- 10:34Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Hey, big show, full seven weekdays. Hauraki, bye.
