- 0:24Speaker 3: Hello everyone, and welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. Our special live
- 0:28Speaker 3: coverage from Patriots training camp. Were day four here at
- 0:32Speaker 3: Jilt Stadium, a beautiful day. The crowd is here, the
- 0:36Speaker 3: players are here, Paul Pirillo, Evan Lazarre, Mike du So,
- 0:40Speaker 3: Tomorrow Brown are here and we're gonna bring you practice
- 0:43Speaker 3: for the next No, I don't know a couple hours
- 0:45Speaker 3: or so. Uh so we're excited. It's day four. Tomorrow
- 0:50Speaker 3: they'll be in pads so well, it'd be interesting to
- 0:53Speaker 3: see what they do today to get ready for tomorrow.
- 0:57Speaker 3: But uh, like I said, we'll be here for the
- 1:00Speaker 3: next couple hours bringing you everything that we see on
- 1:03Speaker 3: at practice. After practice, we'll have a special interview with
- 1:07Speaker 3: girod Mao, uh just with us with Patriots Unfiltered, So
- 1:11Speaker 3: he'll be on the field and we'll be talking to
- 1:13Speaker 3: him right after practice.
- 1:14Speaker 2: So that's cool kind of seeing.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah, see where he thinks the team's out after four days,
- 1:21Speaker 3: you know, and we we say four days, but really.
- 1:24Speaker 4: It's beenise him for that.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, I'm gonna it's it's a lot more than
- 1:29Speaker 3: that when you take into consideration the rookie mini camps,
- 1:32Speaker 3: the ot as, the the mandatory mini camp that they had,
- 1:37Speaker 3: So you know, there's a certain point where I would
- 1:41Speaker 3: expect that he thinks the team should be at and
- 1:43Speaker 3: I'll be interested to see what what he says in
- 1:45Speaker 3: terms of what his expectations are and have they been
- 1:48Speaker 3: met so far?
- 1:49Speaker 2: So so what are we looking for today?
- 1:52Speaker 5: I wonder if today is to set the table day
- 1:54Speaker 5: they were off yesterday, you know, I wonder if they're
- 1:57Speaker 5: going to be setting things up for Pats tomorrow and
- 1:59Speaker 5: they be going through some of the things that they're
- 2:01Speaker 5: going to be running tomorrow at full speed, trying to
- 2:04Speaker 5: make sure that that everybody knows what they're doing so
- 2:06Speaker 5: when they get on the field with pads tomorrow it
- 2:08Speaker 5: can be fully effective.
- 2:09Speaker 4: That's I think kind of how Bill used to do
- 2:10Speaker 4: it a little bit.
- 2:12Speaker 6: But it could very possibly change.
- 2:13Speaker 5: It could be, you know, a ramp up of what
- 2:16Speaker 5: we saw a couple of days ago where they're you know,
- 2:18Speaker 5: starting to.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Have some more competitive periods.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I mean, I would imagine even though they have pads
- 2:22Speaker 3: on tomorrow, it's probably seventy five percent, right, You're not
- 2:25Speaker 3: going right from shells to pads and expecting guys to
- 2:29Speaker 3: be hitting at full throw.
- 2:30Speaker 4: I mean, it's like day seventy Fred. They should be ready,
- 2:32Speaker 4: shouldn't they.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Well, I don't know physically, mentally they should be, but
- 2:35Speaker 3: I don't know about you know, yeah, I worry about that.
- 2:38Speaker 4: You're right, they're right.
- 2:39Speaker 3: You know, do you do you go right into full
- 2:41Speaker 3: speed hitting when you haven't done it all summer?
- 2:44Speaker 5: I don't know, but that but that was kind of
- 2:46Speaker 5: a feature when you guys used to watch back in
- 2:48Speaker 5: Brian College, right like like day one pads will be
- 2:50Speaker 5: like that's exactly what it's going to be. It's going
- 2:52Speaker 5: to be one hundred and ten percent because this is
- 2:54Speaker 5: where you know, we're really gonna set the tone in camp.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Back back then, we were smoking, you know, cigarettes and airplanes.
- 2:59Speaker 4: I mean, come on, you know I can remember goal
- 3:02Speaker 4: line on the first day, absolutely live goal line bet
- 3:05Speaker 4: Teddy Johnson and Ted Johnson, Ye, Paul, Yeah, Mountain goats.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Clashing Mountain Goats. I mean, I mean the impacts were audible.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Oh, if you're a middle linebacker're going in the first
- 3:16Speaker 5: day of pads I imagine, or a full back for
- 3:18Speaker 5: that matter, you know you're going to be getting some.
- 3:21Speaker 6: Yeah, we have a seventy seventy five.
- 3:23Speaker 4: I had a new guy. I was just going to
- 3:24Speaker 4: say that we have a new guy.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Players are trickling out onto the field.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Defensive lineman. He's wearing blue. All right, we'll see. Let's
- 3:35Speaker 4: see who that might be. Well, effort that Andy on
- 3:39Speaker 4: the on the Twitter.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's about oh, i'd say close to eighty degrees
- 3:44Speaker 2: right now. It's here at Foxboro, n Nice day today,
- 3:48Speaker 2: sunny day.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Good day for golf of your sunny day?
- 3:50Speaker 6: Stands full of fans.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, what's that time for individual achievement?
- 3:57Speaker 7: Stands full of fans. I have a fan?
- 3:59Speaker 4: Is that the fan you gutter?
- 4:00Speaker 8: Is that a fan from Stacey the Patriots PR Department.
- 4:04Speaker 8: They're fans of us, and they got U Spankee that
- 4:08Speaker 8: I did not get that.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Boy. They're so clever.
- 4:12Speaker 7: Sure, I'm sure they love our coverin.
- 4:14Speaker 4: I got one hand with pen in, one hand with
- 4:16Speaker 4: with binoculars. I don't got a time I gotta count
- 4:18Speaker 4: for a thing.
- 4:19Speaker 8: Few in the building too, well, I will say the
- 4:21Speaker 8: fans that they got us. You can actually strap.
- 4:23Speaker 5: Around your neck like I've seen like some things that
- 4:26Speaker 5: they're got now where you almost you strap a thing
- 4:28Speaker 5: onto your belt and it.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Just blows air up your shirt.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Like there were all these like modern advances and staying cool,
- 4:33Speaker 5: but I always flashed back to those joint practices in Nashville,
- 4:36Speaker 5: which that's the only time I felt like I needed
- 4:39Speaker 5: an auxiliary device to like help stay cold because it
- 4:41Speaker 5: was just it was so like the second we stepped
- 4:45Speaker 5: out of the car at that facility in Tennessee, it
- 4:46Speaker 5: was like I'm just going to be drenched, Like there's
- 4:48Speaker 5: no there's no other way about it.
- 4:50Speaker 7: Yeah, Vegas was was bad, but in a different way. Yeah,
- 4:53Speaker 7: it's that dry desert heat. But Tennessee.
- 4:57Speaker 4: It's no joke. And then we went to Jersey Mike's
- 5:00Speaker 4: and the lady took forever.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Oh remember how long it took us to go through
- 5:04Speaker 5: and like you you got to cut the meat, lady,
- 5:06Speaker 5: you can't get into conversation.
- 5:07Speaker 4: It's long enough at Jersey Mikes. With the amount of
- 5:09Speaker 4: work that goes into the sandwich. Take a look at
- 5:10Speaker 4: my forehead and count all the beat beats of sweat,
- 5:13Speaker 4: and then then you can tell me how I'm doing.
- 5:17Speaker 3: All right back here, a little technical difficulty, but they
- 5:20Speaker 3: cleared that up.
- 5:20Speaker 6: There's something much better for it.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not sure what was going on. I do worry,
- 5:25Speaker 3: you know, with the sun beating down on our equipment,
- 5:27Speaker 3: if that has anything to do, but I don't think
- 5:29Speaker 3: that was it.
- 5:30Speaker 2: So now you've got the handheld fan, uh tomorrow.
- 5:34Speaker 7: Yes, this is actually from manual. Are you from the
- 5:37Speaker 7: south you I know this is actually from I think
- 5:40Speaker 7: my first training camp. You know they handed them out.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, players gets a lot of the handouts, it sure does.
- 5:52Speaker 4: She said that one. She said that one for two years.
- 5:56Speaker 4: It's not that I you know, I'm looking for a fan,
- 5:58Speaker 4: but I'm.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Just saying, so we're pret practice here. It's the principal.
- 6:01Speaker 7: I'm your biggest fan of Paul.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Players still arriving, as they say, so.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Maybe some contract talk.
- 6:11Speaker 5: I think I think since we last spoke, we've had
- 6:13Speaker 5: some contracts going around there to Tungo Biloa.
- 6:16Speaker 4: So yeah, we're going to get to that.
- 6:18Speaker 5: We're going to get to that in a little bit
- 6:20Speaker 5: Evan and I yeah, you're not ready.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Oh no, I'm ready whenever you are, all right, So
- 6:27Speaker 4: you're great, all right. As we're waiting for the players
- 6:30Speaker 4: to arrive and get started and we actually give you some.
- 6:32Speaker 6: Patriots news to talk about.
- 6:35Speaker 4: There was a sort of a line of thought on
- 6:38Speaker 4: the on my show as Freddy, Yeah, as we were
- 6:41Speaker 4: driving home from from work on on Friday, in the
- 6:44Speaker 4: light of Toua's extension. So obviously a big money extension.
- 6:48Speaker 4: It's like fifty two, fifty three, fifty two. Yeah, you know,
- 6:53Speaker 4: so it's a lot of money. I'm not I'm not
- 6:54Speaker 4: downplaying the amount of money he got. It's a lot.
- 6:56Speaker 6: I think he's like third, the fourth highest paid quarterback.
- 7:00Speaker 2: And how much of it is guaranteed.
- 7:01Speaker 6: Like one hundred and sixty seven it's a lot of money.
- 7:04Speaker 4: So the line of thought was that this was a
- 7:08Speaker 4: great thing for the Patriots because they get this terrible
- 7:11Speaker 4: quarterback now now in the division. I'm like, well, so
- 7:14Speaker 4: like yesterday they were behind Miami who had two as
- 7:20Speaker 4: the quarterback under the fifty yeer option. Today he now
- 7:23Speaker 4: makes one hundred and sixty seven million guaranteed, and now
- 7:26Speaker 4: the Patriots it's a good thing for the Patriots. There's
- 7:30Speaker 4: a lot of different layers to this, not the least
- 7:33Speaker 4: of which is two has won a lot of football games.
- 7:35Speaker 4: He's like thirty two and nineteen, Is that right? So
- 7:37Speaker 4: who yes, thirty two and nineteen.
- 7:39Speaker 7: As they Paul, And he's six and zero against the
- 7:41Speaker 7: Patriots exactly.
- 7:42Speaker 2: But like who said it was a good.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Thing, Jim Murray and Matt McCarthy, I said, my shop,
- 7:46Speaker 4: But it's not. It wasn't just that, it was a
- 7:49Speaker 4: lot of people.
- 7:50Speaker 7: I saw a groundswell of it on Patriots Twitter as well.
- 7:53Speaker 7: And to Paul's point, the first point is can you
- 7:56Speaker 7: beat the guy first in a game before we start
- 7:58Speaker 7: saying that, oh, this is great news for the Patriots,
- 8:02Speaker 7: right And the quarterback play that we've watched over the
- 8:04Speaker 7: last five years here since Brady left, they would be
- 8:08Speaker 7: lucky if they had to Attaga Baloa on their football
- 8:11Speaker 7: team as their quarterback right now. And third of all,
- 8:15Speaker 7: just statistically over the last couple of years too, was
- 8:18Speaker 7: one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. You wanted
- 8:20Speaker 7: to use passer rating EPA per drop back, whatever you
- 8:23Speaker 7: want to want to use.
- 8:24Speaker 4: So I'm not he's been an MVP conversation the last
- 8:28Speaker 4: two seasons.
- 8:29Speaker 6: Now.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Two years ago, you know, he obviously got hurt and
- 8:32Speaker 4: that ended that. And last year, like Kevin said, he
- 8:35Speaker 4: was like a top ten quarterback exactly.
- 8:37Speaker 3: But last year it was his first full season correct
- 8:39Speaker 3: that he played without missing games.
- 8:43Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know if it was his
- 8:44Speaker 4: first full I know the year before we got concussions, Yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 2: But I think it was. But but regardless, he's a
- 8:49Speaker 2: he's a good quarterback.
- 8:51Speaker 4: He's a good quarter The point, the point I'm trying
- 8:53Speaker 4: to make is I don't know why it wasn't good
- 8:55Speaker 4: before the contract, but it is good after the contract.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Nothing has changed in terms of his status, like the
- 9:02Speaker 4: fact that he's going to be the quarterback of a
- 9:04Speaker 4: team in your division that is thought to be better
- 9:07Speaker 4: than you for the next five years.
- 9:09Speaker 6: Now. I don't understand how that's a good thing for
- 9:12Speaker 6: the Patriots.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I don't Well, obviously whoever was saying that, I don't
- 9:17Speaker 3: think he's that good.
- 9:19Speaker 4: But he wasn't that good before he signed the contract,
- 9:21Speaker 4: and it wasn't a good thing for the Patriots that
- 9:23Speaker 4: he was their starting quarterback. Well, now he signs a
- 9:25Speaker 4: contract and it's a good thing for the Patrol.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Now it's a topic. I don't know. I'm not defending them.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I'm just trying to think why now they're saying that.
- 9:32Speaker 3: But either way, the Miami Dolphins right now are a
- 9:35Speaker 3: better football team than New England Patriots, you know, and
- 9:37Speaker 3: until Drake May proves, and they're.
- 9:40Speaker 4: In a better situation today than they were heading into
- 9:43Speaker 4: camp because they no longer have a question market quarterback
- 9:46Speaker 4: sure like long term. Okay, I don't again, I don't
- 9:50Speaker 4: really know how that's a bad thing for I mean,
- 9:53Speaker 4: a good thing for the paprioll.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Unless you don't, unless you feel a tu it can't
- 9:56Speaker 3: get them to where they want to go, which is
- 9:58Speaker 3: obviously be champion.
- 10:00Speaker 4: But that might be the case. That could that could
- 10:02Speaker 4: be accurate. Again, I don't know why that's a good
- 10:04Speaker 4: thing for the Patriots. Yeah, like two was gonna fall
- 10:07Speaker 4: short in Miami. How is that good for the Patriots?
- 10:10Speaker 2: Well, it's it's neither good nor bad.
- 10:13Speaker 4: It's just you know, I would agree with that.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Yeah, So I don't know. I wasn't listening, so I
- 10:18Speaker 3: don't It was tough, it was, it was, it.
- 10:19Speaker 6: Was a tough Uh. I just think to take.
- 10:22Speaker 7: The biggest thing is I think, yeah, until you are
- 10:26Speaker 7: on that level, like worry about your your own house
- 10:28Speaker 7: a little bit.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a time where we could demean everybody
- 10:33Speaker 3: else's quarterback because we had the best one, you know,
- 10:36Speaker 3: so no one was as good as ours.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Uh, those days are over, folks.
- 10:40Speaker 4: I mean, like you look at the contracts that Tua
- 10:42Speaker 4: and Jordan Love signed over the weekend. To me, like,
- 10:45Speaker 4: I don't think there's anything wrong with them that that's
- 10:47Speaker 4: that's what it happens.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Well, it is, but it is getting a little bit
- 10:51Speaker 2: much in.
- 10:52Speaker 3: You know, the teams are now so quarterback dependent. I
- 10:58Speaker 3: just wonder if some you know, the next round of CBA,
- 11:01Speaker 3: or even before you know, as they start talking about
- 11:04Speaker 3: the eighteenth game and they have to amend the current CBA,
- 11:08Speaker 3: they might stiffen up the salary cap. You know, right
- 11:12Speaker 3: now it's a very loose salary cap. There's a lot
- 11:14Speaker 3: of loopholes, there's a lot of ways to get around it.
- 11:17Speaker 3: I wonder if the next step from the owners is
- 11:20Speaker 3: to make that a little bit more hard a cap.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know, but I can't imagine
- 11:27Speaker 3: the owners are you know, doing cartwheels about the amount
- 11:31Speaker 3: of money they have to pay one person on their team.
- 11:34Speaker 8: But I will say that one person can really make
- 11:37Speaker 8: or break your team. You've seen how much dependable quarterback
- 11:40Speaker 8: play does for a team, and you see how much
- 11:43Speaker 8: not having a pulse on your your in your quarterback
- 11:45Speaker 8: room does for your team. So I think you know,
- 11:48Speaker 8: regardless of how the salary cap situation works out, I
- 11:51Speaker 8: think the quarterback is the most important person.
- 11:53Speaker 7: On the team.
- 11:54Speaker 4: You're right.
- 11:54Speaker 3: But the second part of what you just said tomorrow
- 11:57Speaker 3: make or break. Yeah, he can also break. And now
- 12:00Speaker 3: you've got all that money that you.
- 12:01Speaker 6: Paid him, you know, But that's not the break part.
- 12:04Speaker 4: The break part is he can't play right, not the
- 12:06Speaker 4: money because the money is fixed. The cap is the cap. Yeah,
- 12:10Speaker 4: I mean, that's not going to go away. They're not
- 12:12Speaker 4: going to do away with the cap.
- 12:13Speaker 2: No, I didn't say they would do. What I'm saying is.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Making it a hard cap makes it harder.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Well, it gives them a reason, a valid reason, Paul,
- 12:22Speaker 3: not to pay as much to one price.
- 12:24Speaker 4: So it makes it harder to be good if you
- 12:26Speaker 4: don't give the quarterback that money.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Well, Paul, that's not what they're worried about he's out,
- 12:30Speaker 2: they're worried about the money.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Yeah, but I mean out they worried about trying to
- 12:33Speaker 4: win games. Would I like to think that most of
- 12:35Speaker 4: the help in sports are trying to win games. I
- 12:38Speaker 4: know that's not one hundred percent. That's naive on my part. Yeah,
- 12:40Speaker 4: I know some guys don't care.
- 12:42Speaker 3: You would hope that's all they care about. But it's
- 12:44Speaker 3: cash out of pocket. You know, we all know the
- 12:47Speaker 3: difference is between what the cap UH number is in
- 12:51Speaker 3: cash spent, which is usually higher than yeah, and that
- 12:57Speaker 3: you know, owners that comes out of the owner's pocket
- 13:00Speaker 3: have to figure out a way to finance that if
- 13:01Speaker 3: they don't have the ready cash.
- 13:03Speaker 4: I'm with you, Fred, So you know, I'm just I'm
- 13:06Speaker 4: just I'm with you. I'm totally with you everything you
- 13:08Speaker 4: just said.
- 13:08Speaker 7: I just think the biggest thing to me is that
- 13:13Speaker 7: clearly a lot of people think that that to a stinks.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Is that Kendrick Bourne, Yeah, but he's yeah, he's not.
- 13:21Speaker 5: STEP's Gibson also had his helmet with him.
- 13:25Speaker 6: I saw that.
- 13:28Speaker 7: With two people obviously think he stakes well, he stinks well,
- 13:32Speaker 7: not stinks well.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Like anybody who thinks it's a good thing for the
- 13:34Speaker 4: Patriots that he signed a contract.
- 13:35Speaker 6: Obviously thinks he.
- 13:36Speaker 7: Isn't whatever you want to call it, like isn't good enough, right,
- 13:41Speaker 7: isn't at that level.
- 13:43Speaker 4: And I would just say that.
- 13:46Speaker 7: The Patriots would be pretty lucky if Drake May ends
- 13:49Speaker 7: up being as good as Tua like that.
- 13:51Speaker 6: Obviously a different kind of player, but I agree with.
- 13:53Speaker 7: That, right just in terms of production, production and that
- 13:58Speaker 7: it just it just goes to show, like there's so
- 14:00Speaker 7: many quarterbacks that end up just actually like Zach Wilson,
- 14:04Speaker 7: like actually stinks, and our barometer is still so high.
- 14:08Speaker 7: I feel like from from Brady that we we still
- 14:12Speaker 7: hold everybody at that at that regard and like whoever
- 14:15Speaker 7: it's Drake May, if it's four years from now, it's
- 14:17Speaker 7: the next guy, no one is going to be up
- 14:19Speaker 7: on that pedestal.
- 14:21Speaker 4: So see, that's something I would say, like you just
- 14:23Speaker 4: threw Zach Wilson out there. Yeah, if the Jets decided,
- 14:26Speaker 4: you know what, he's going to turn the corner and
- 14:28Speaker 4: they gave him a contract that was going to lock
- 14:30Speaker 4: him up. I'm not talking about a now you're I'm
- 14:33Speaker 4: not talking about a fifty million per year contract, but
- 14:35Speaker 4: a contract that was going to make him their starting
- 14:37Speaker 4: quarterback next year, right right, Yes, Now that helps you
- 14:41Speaker 4: clearly is.
- 14:42Speaker 7: At bagging the two a contract and saying that's a
- 14:45Speaker 7: that's a good thing for the Patriots a bad thing
- 14:47Speaker 7: for Miami. You're probably gonna go the rest of your
- 14:50Speaker 7: lifetime never seeing a quarterback that you think is good
- 14:52Speaker 7: for the Patriots because it's never their quarterback for the
- 14:55Speaker 7: Patriots is never going to be.
- 14:57Speaker 4: It was the same kind of stuff when Detroit re
- 14:59Speaker 4: upped Golf.
- 15:00Speaker 6: Right, Jared Goff is pretty good.
- 15:02Speaker 4: He's not Brady, he's not Mahomes, but he's pretty good.
- 15:05Speaker 4: And that's what those guys cost.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Right now, You've got to get used to the number
- 15:09Speaker 3: is that's one of the things. I think people aren't
- 15:11Speaker 3: used to that number, fifty million plus a year for
- 15:17Speaker 3: a player, but that's the number these days. I mean,
- 15:21Speaker 3: what's Dak Prescott going to get. You know, he's the
- 15:25Speaker 3: next best quarterback that has a contract coming.
- 15:30Speaker 2: It's it's gonna be ludicrous.
- 15:31Speaker 6: He'll be in that neighborhood.
- 15:33Speaker 2: I think he's going to demand to be higher.
- 15:38Speaker 6: He probably won't get up from Dallas.
- 15:39Speaker 5: Then, yeah, Paul, you should I thought you made a
- 15:42Speaker 5: good point though about Jordan Love, you know, sitting and
- 15:45Speaker 5: just to sample size with him. You know, it's just
- 15:47Speaker 5: a good it's a good comp fir. When we talk
- 15:48Speaker 5: about Drake May, I mean, I'll let you make the point.
- 15:50Speaker 5: But we spend so much time. But when should Drake
- 15:52Speaker 5: May play? I mean we're seeing it with Jordan Love.
- 15:54Speaker 5: They had to give him that contract, not a huge samples.
- 15:56Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Now, Jordan Love might have a higher ceiling than Tua,
- 16:00Speaker 4: might be more he's you know, as bigger, It might
- 16:02Speaker 4: be more physically gifted than toa so he could turn
- 16:04Speaker 4: out to be a better player. I would feel better
- 16:08Speaker 4: with those contracts based on what I know about Tua
- 16:11Speaker 4: than what I know about Jordan Love.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it's more of a leap of faith for Love
- 16:15Speaker 2: right now.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Again, I think Jordan Love is going to be a
- 16:19Speaker 4: good player. I don't think that's a bad contract at all.
- 16:21Speaker 4: But I'm just saying, if I had to, based on
- 16:23Speaker 4: the evidence that I have, I'd feel better about Sure
- 16:27Speaker 4: Miami than Green Bay because it's really only one season
- 16:31Speaker 4: for Love and he really didn't play all that well
- 16:34Speaker 4: until about halfway through, and then he was awesome, you know,
- 16:38Speaker 4: for the stretch driving in the playoffs, he played really well,
- 16:41Speaker 4: and I think that's where he's going. I think he,
- 16:43Speaker 4: you know, kind of clicked and he's on the rise.
- 16:45Speaker 4: So I'm not criticizing Green Bay for the for the
- 16:48Speaker 4: deal at all, but that's tough. You sit him for
- 16:51Speaker 4: three years and then you don't get a whole lot
- 16:53Speaker 4: of you know, data to go off of when you
- 16:56Speaker 4: have to give these guys fifty plus million a year.
- 16:58Speaker 7: So has just announced that Josiah Brunson is the new
- 17:02Speaker 7: seventy five.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Okay, Josiah Brunson.
- 17:06Speaker 2: And then where see what's his background?
- 17:08Speaker 4: What's his forting?
- 17:09Speaker 7: Do you loading the pin hand sized? So he was
- 17:13Speaker 7: a UFL player, played it in the UFL, another spring league.
- 17:18Speaker 2: So do you think the powers that be in the
- 17:21Speaker 2: NFL like the fact that.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Your team is make or break dependent on one guy,
- 17:31Speaker 3: your quarterback?
- 17:32Speaker 2: Do you think they like that that.
- 17:35Speaker 4: The quarterback is obviously too important? They probably don't like that, right,
- 17:41Speaker 4: So I don't think it has as much to do
- 17:44Speaker 4: with money as it does with the team though.
- 17:45Speaker 3: That's all okay, So thinking ahead five to ten years,
- 17:48Speaker 3: do you think they would ever do anything to alleviate
- 17:51Speaker 3: that too? You know, it's like maybe you know, right now,
- 17:54Speaker 3: all the all the rules are favoring the offense.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Do they reverse that a little bit give the defense
- 18:01Speaker 2: a little bit of an edge?
- 18:03Speaker 4: I just I don't. I mean, it's a good question.
- 18:06Speaker 5: I just I struggle to see how you can reduce
- 18:07Speaker 5: the value of a quarterback in football, and you know
- 18:10Speaker 5: especially I mean, I guess Fred you made a good
- 18:12Speaker 5: point about do you tip a little bit of the
- 18:14Speaker 5: balance back to the defense. I have a hard time
- 18:18Speaker 5: seeing that happen. I just think with fantasy football and
- 18:21Speaker 5: the gambling that goes on now, you know, it's just
- 18:24Speaker 5: it's hard for them for me to see them taking strides.
- 18:26Speaker 4: But a lot of it at Dampston Scoring Down.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Hey Patriots fans, if you want to see Toyota's best offers,
- 18:31Speaker 2: including those not seen on TV, go to buy at
- 18:34Speaker 2: toyota dot com. It's Toyota's official website for deals from
- 18:37Speaker 2: the official vehicle of the New England Patriot's Toyota. Let's
- 18:41Speaker 2: go to practice.
- 18:43Speaker 5: I feel like the clouds are literally moving right over
- 18:45Speaker 5: the field right now, and we're about to have like
- 18:47Speaker 5: the rest of the day is about to be cloudy.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Oh oh, is that you, I mean, look at it.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Did you check out Don Kent's forecast this morning? Oh?
- 18:55Speaker 4: Don Ken, I was unaware of his forehead. One's that
- 18:57Speaker 4: Don kents ntev I love, I love feeling too young?
- 19:03Speaker 5: But does it does seem just like the cloud cover
- 19:05Speaker 5: is literally just coming right over a welcome relief it is.
- 19:08Speaker 4: I I'm all for it.
- 19:11Speaker 3: I'm also all for bud Light because it's easy to drink,
- 19:14Speaker 3: easy to enjoy. Bud Light is the official beer sponsor
- 19:17Speaker 3: of the New England Patriots.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Do you guys watch any of the Olympics there we
- 19:22Speaker 4: got going here. I did a.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Little bit, a little bit. I saw France beat Fiji. Yeah,
- 19:28Speaker 2: seven's rugby, big upset.
- 19:30Speaker 4: I watched that's the first ever loss for Fiji.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:33Speaker 4: In the Olympics, in the Olympic Rocks.
- 19:35Speaker 2: And I watched a little of Nadal and Alcahaz together, right.
- 19:40Speaker 7: I watched a little of Greece Canada and basketball versus
- 19:45Speaker 7: s g A was fun.
- 19:47Speaker 3: So now, Paul, I don't know if you know this
- 19:50Speaker 3: because you're mister red zone, but for the Olympics, they
- 19:53Speaker 3: they do the gold zone and.
- 19:55Speaker 6: If you're Evan was telling me all about it. He
- 19:58Speaker 6: got handsome.
- 19:58Speaker 4: I'm sure torturing it, just like he doesn't on a
- 20:03Speaker 4: weekly basis.
- 20:04Speaker 7: It's not just Scott Hansen. They actually have a rotation
- 20:06Speaker 7: because it's it's like ten hours of coverage. So Andrew Ceciliano,
- 20:10Speaker 7: who did it for Direct TV for years their red
- 20:14Speaker 7: Zone channel, is also.
- 20:17Speaker 6: You have no idea what was going on in games. Either.
- 20:19Speaker 4: It was tough, it was it was bad too.
- 20:22Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean they were tossing to like fencing.
- 20:24Speaker 4: When I was watching it, I meant the actual.
- 20:27Speaker 3: But to be fair, they toss it defencing when something
- 20:31Speaker 3: you know it's about to be a deciding.
- 20:33Speaker 7: Yes, it was the gold medal, like it.
- 20:35Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not going to sit there and watch
- 20:37Speaker 3: an hour of fencing. Just give me the good part.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Yeah right.
- 20:39Speaker 7: The one the one nippick I had about it was
- 20:42Speaker 7: that they didn't stay on an event for very long.
- 20:46Speaker 7: So if it was like a team event or something
- 20:48Speaker 7: like that, you're only getting right, you know, two minutes
- 20:52Speaker 7: of Greece Canada and then all of a sudden they're
- 20:54Speaker 7: throwing to something else. And so I at that point I.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Probed, did you notice that while you're doing that? And
- 20:59Speaker 3: the bottom right you can click and watch the whole
- 21:02Speaker 3: game if you want.
- 21:02Speaker 7: So that's I ended up doing that at basketball game
- 21:04Speaker 7: because I just wanted to watch No, I think the game.
- 21:07Speaker 3: This is groundbreaking coverage of the Olympics, and you know,
- 21:09Speaker 3: obviously NBC is using Peacock to cover it all.
- 21:13Speaker 2: So it's it's pretty cool. It's pretty cool.
- 21:15Speaker 7: It is cool because they literally have every great idea
- 21:18Speaker 7: for the Olympics. Yeah, they literally have everything.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:21Speaker 7: Because of Peacock, they have the ability to show you
- 21:23Speaker 7: pretty much any event that's going on. You could watched
- 21:27Speaker 7: jiu jitsu yesterday if you wanted to watch that, if.
- 21:29Speaker 4: You well, that's tips thing, all right, So Freddy real quick,
- 21:32Speaker 4: just you know, they did send the release out for Josiah.
- 21:35Speaker 4: It's Bronson. He's twenty seven and he played last year.
- 21:39Speaker 4: He played in the in the spring with the Memphis
- 21:41Speaker 4: show Boats. Oh sure, sure, so he had They've got
- 21:47Speaker 4: a size on twelve tackles in ten games with a
- 21:49Speaker 4: one and a half sacks, six three two ninety five.
- 21:53Speaker 4: He spent some time in the NFL with New Orleans, Cleveland, Dallas,
- 21:56Speaker 4: and Miami. Originally a rookie free agent for New Orleans
- 22:00Speaker 4: in twenty one, out of Washington and I'm sorry, what
- 22:03Speaker 4: positions defensive tackle?
- 22:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so sometimes you know, it's very early in the summer,
- 22:09Speaker 2: but sometimes they do that because somebody is having some
- 22:11Speaker 2: injury issues more.
- 22:13Speaker 5: I know, I don't like seeing not seeing barbar out here.
- 22:16Speaker 5: It's it could be something minor. And then somebody said
- 22:19Speaker 5: he was sick the first day, but like you had
- 22:21Speaker 5: a day off yesterday.
- 22:23Speaker 4: I don't know, Radar is up on him.
- 22:25Speaker 3: I always get a little worried when they bring guys in.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Who's hurt, Who's hurt?
- 22:30Speaker 4: Yeah, he's He's the only one kind of missing from
- 22:32Speaker 4: that group, which you.
- 22:33Speaker 5: Know is admittedly kind of thin to begin with, at
- 22:35Speaker 5: least with guys who have a lot of experience in
- 22:37Speaker 5: the NFL.
- 22:38Speaker 8: I was going to say, I think illness is going
- 22:40Speaker 8: around right now. I mean Lamar Jackson was sick as well.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of people were. They were they together?
- 22:46Speaker 8: No, But I mean I'm just saying that a lot
- 22:48Speaker 8: of people are sick right now.
- 22:50Speaker 4: It's going around.
- 22:51Speaker 7: Something is going around. Not sure what it is, but.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Yeah, COVID COVID, Drake May, we're working with a little
- 22:59Speaker 2: walk past right now.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Yeah, is this a cameras off? Portion of the of
- 23:03Speaker 4: the pack.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I think we're cameras are eleven twenty five.
- 23:10Speaker 3: I think we'll have cameras back on.
- 23:12Speaker 5: So maybe uh could mean nothing just because they're near
- 23:16Speaker 5: the red zone. But I do wonder maybe we get
- 23:17Speaker 5: a little red zone today. That could be seven on
- 23:19Speaker 5: seven one, yeah.
- 23:21Speaker 8: Or Mike, it could be like you mentioned earlier, they're
- 23:23Speaker 8: they're working on some things they put on the pads.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just but it's all screen passes. Not really,
- 23:27Speaker 5: you're not really running screens on the four yard line.
- 23:29Speaker 4: I watch. I don't think so maybe that's just how
- 23:32Speaker 4: they're divided up right now.
- 23:34Speaker 7: Yeah, don't have eyes on Antonio Gibson.
- 23:37Speaker 5: No did he he brought it. It's like steps he
- 23:40Speaker 5: got down again. I just walking down scanning.
- 23:43Speaker 7: But yeah, Bourne was not gonna do anything. But uh,
- 23:47Speaker 7: Antonio Gibson, I have not seen. But he did have
- 23:49Speaker 7: a helmet, had a helmet when he I got him.
- 23:52Speaker 7: I got him. So yeah, Antonio Gibbs, it looks like
- 23:54Speaker 7: he was ready to go. We are ago on Antonio Gibson.
- 23:57Speaker 7: Now that he's actually participating in drills, he has to
- 24:00Speaker 7: off NFI, so he's he's good to go. It looks
- 24:03Speaker 7: like so that's good news.
- 24:05Speaker 4: That's a good little yeah, good little bump. What about
- 24:09Speaker 4: taki taki? Guys, realize we're ten days away from the
- 24:14Speaker 4: first preseason.
- 24:16Speaker 7: That's right around the corner.
- 24:17Speaker 4: We only got nine more trade practices. It's going by quick.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yeah, So this will be our last live coverage from
- 24:27Speaker 3: practice except for when the Eagles come and we have
- 24:31Speaker 3: the joint practice. We'll come back up here on our
- 24:33Speaker 3: perch and we'll cover that joint practice live. This week,
- 24:36Speaker 3: we go back to our normal Tuesday Thursday schedule for
- 24:40Speaker 3: Patriots Unfiltered. We'll start it at one thirty every day
- 24:45Speaker 3: as long as you know, because practice at eleven, so
- 24:48Speaker 3: we'll we'll go live with Patriots Unfiltered on Tuesdays and
- 24:52Speaker 3: Thursdays at one thirty unless they changed the practice times,
- 24:56Speaker 3: which I don't think they will.
- 24:58Speaker 2: But although Gerard Meo said yesterday, you know, he wants
- 25:00Speaker 2: to kind of keep.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Things fluid and and see how things are going. But
- 25:05Speaker 3: I think they're going to stick to this eleven o'clock time,
- 25:08Speaker 3: So one thirty Tuesdays and Thursdays going forward with Patriots Unfiltered.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's probably a pretty safe bet yep, yeah.
- 25:18Speaker 7: Just because I have to shamelessly plug Catch twenty two
- 25:21Speaker 7: will be after unfiltered on Thursdays.
- 25:24Speaker 4: You don't have to have any shame that actually just
- 25:27Speaker 4: do it.
- 25:27Speaker 7: Yeah, for one, thirty to three thirty will probably be
- 25:31Speaker 7: like four to six ish Catch twenty two.
- 25:33Speaker 2: There's no shame in that at all.
- 25:35Speaker 4: No shame, Nope, you should be proud of it.
- 25:39Speaker 5: Well he did say it was a shameless but oh right,
- 25:41Speaker 5: I just like, yeah, no shame, right right right, completely devoid.
- 25:46Speaker 7: While they're doing the positional drill stuff. Can we circle
- 25:49Speaker 7: back to the quarterbacks thing real quick? Because you know
- 25:52Speaker 7: the importance of the quarterback. I do think you have
- 25:55Speaker 7: examples in San Francisco in Detroit of two teams that
- 26:01Speaker 7: came about as close as you possibly could last year
- 26:04Speaker 7: without having the superstar quarterback.
- 26:07Speaker 2: So it's possible. It's possible.
- 26:09Speaker 7: You have to have an absolutely loaded roster in every
- 26:11Speaker 7: other facet around the quarterback. And you know, maybe Goff
- 26:14Speaker 7: and Prettier are better than we give them credit for,
- 26:17Speaker 7: or I give them credit for, certainly in Purdy's.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Case, pretty for sure. But you think GoF is okay?
- 26:23Speaker 7: Yeah, GoF is okay when he's running play action. Yeah,
- 26:27Speaker 7: but yeah, no doubt, but it is possible. But those
- 26:32Speaker 7: two teams drafted at the top of the draft for
- 26:34Speaker 7: many years and hit on a lot of draft picks,
- 26:37Speaker 7: you know, and then that's how they were able to
- 26:39Speaker 7: build that up. And that wasn't overnight for either one
- 26:42Speaker 7: of those teams. But it is possible to maybe not
- 26:45Speaker 7: get to the top where Malmes is, but you can
- 26:47Speaker 7: definitely get shoot a Super Bowl championship game. And you know,
- 26:51Speaker 7: we don't know what Jalen Hurts is going to be either,
- 26:53Speaker 7: and the Eagles were just there two years ago too,
- 26:55Speaker 7: so it's possible.
- 26:56Speaker 4: It's funny you mentioned him. I saw some stuff that
- 26:59Speaker 4: they were doing on on ESPN and they had South
- 27:03Speaker 4: Pale at at Philadelphia, and I think that there is
- 27:06Speaker 4: really such a huge unknown with Jalen Hurts. Yeah, like
- 27:09Speaker 4: is he the guy that played two years ago or
- 27:12Speaker 4: did they kind of figure him out a little bit
- 27:14Speaker 4: and maybe they don't want him to run anymore. Evan
- 27:17Speaker 4: always calls it the superpower. Yeah, you know, without that,
- 27:21Speaker 4: maybe he's just sort of average because he wasn't really
- 27:24Speaker 4: great last year from start to finish. I mean, they
- 27:28Speaker 4: still make a great but he wasn't playing great.
- 27:31Speaker 7: I also feel like.
- 27:32Speaker 8: The locker room was lost at some point because you
- 27:35Speaker 8: start off your season went eight and one, and then
- 27:38Speaker 8: the way they ended the season, it just did something
- 27:40Speaker 8: seemed awesome.
- 27:41Speaker 4: Was not happy.
- 27:42Speaker 7: Yeah, they The thing with Jalen Hurts at the Eagles too,
- 27:45Speaker 7: is just listening to other people that watched their film
- 27:48Speaker 7: a lot closer than I do. Their their playbook on
- 27:52Speaker 7: offense got stale really quickly when Stichen left for Indianapolis
- 27:57Speaker 7: and they were running, you know a lot. Ski was
- 28:00Speaker 7: weekly killing them for running like the same five plays
- 28:04Speaker 7: all the time. Now, I don't know if that's just
- 28:06Speaker 7: the lack of creativity on their coaching staff or if
- 28:09Speaker 7: they don't feel like Jalen Hurts can handle more than
- 28:12Speaker 7: what they're running. Two years ago, that stuff was all
- 28:15Speaker 7: new and fresh and took the league by storm. And
- 28:18Speaker 7: then the league adjusts and they didn't do a great
- 28:20Speaker 7: job from a schematic standpoint of adjusting to the adjustment.
- 28:24Speaker 7: So maybe they have another thing up their sleeve. But
- 28:28Speaker 7: when you look at their offense, Stichen might have been
- 28:30Speaker 7: the mad scientists behind the scenes. And now he's in
- 28:34Speaker 7: Indianapolis and the Colts were a good offense last year
- 28:36Speaker 7: with him. Given their situation, I would say they're pretty
- 28:40Speaker 7: solid offensively with Gardner Minshew, so he might be a
- 28:43Speaker 7: really good coach.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Going back to the Tour conversation, Kelly writes in the
- 28:48Speaker 3: Dolphins giving two of that contract this year doesn't matter
- 28:51Speaker 3: at all. People keep saying their big three take up
- 28:54Speaker 3: forty percent of the cap, but that is this year's
- 28:57Speaker 3: cap and current cap is irrelevant because it's July and
- 29:00Speaker 3: the Dolphins won't lose money picking their roster unless they
- 29:05Speaker 3: choose to do so. Next year, the cap goes up
- 29:08Speaker 3: again and it will be thirty percent of the cap,
- 29:10Speaker 3: which isn't bad at all.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not really as much fixated on the actual
- 29:16Speaker 4: numbers as I am, just this notion that locking up
- 29:20Speaker 4: a quarterback who has had success for you somehow helps
- 29:22Speaker 4: the opponents.
- 29:23Speaker 6: Yeah, that's what I'm you know what I mean?
- 29:25Speaker 4: Like to me, it's not about like I think, even
- 29:29Speaker 4: like the the most staunch defender of like how important
- 29:34Speaker 4: the cap is would admit given a quarterback a huge
- 29:38Speaker 4: salary nowadays is not a prohibitive of success. So I
- 29:43Speaker 4: don't really understand how you can.
- 29:44Speaker 5: Come up with that to me, it's just it's a
- 29:47Speaker 5: loser mentality to focus on the cap is what's going
- 29:49Speaker 5: to save the Patriots and get them back.
- 29:50Speaker 6: In the conress.
- 29:52Speaker 4: And they weren't really even talking about the cap. They're
- 29:54Speaker 4: just like, well two is there, so don't worry about
- 29:56Speaker 4: Miami anymore.
- 29:57Speaker 5: Well there's any time you're talking about money and oh
- 29:59Speaker 5: too many guys, they're getting too much and it's gonna
- 30:01Speaker 5: you know, like it's just this team needs talent, and
- 30:04Speaker 5: then you know, worry about yourself, like Evan said, and
- 30:08Speaker 5: I just I think part of it too when we
- 30:09Speaker 5: talked about it yesterday with with with Drake May of
- 30:12Speaker 5: of kind of the great unknown of how he is
- 30:15Speaker 5: in the clutch, and like that's that's the ultimate kind
- 30:18Speaker 5: of Trump card, is if you have a quarterback like
- 30:22Speaker 5: Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady that you're never out of it.
- 30:25Speaker 4: You're never out of it.
- 30:25Speaker 5: And if your team was within striking distance, you're down
- 30:28Speaker 5: by ten points in the fourth quarter like the other
- 30:31Speaker 5: team is sweating.
- 30:32Speaker 6: And how many.
- 30:33Speaker 5: Quarterbacks do you really truly feel like that way about?
- 30:36Speaker 5: Like I think there's a handful, but that's I think
- 30:39Speaker 5: what makes these guys truly truly special is that ability
- 30:43Speaker 5: in the clutch, And that's what I think that's why
- 30:45Speaker 5: Mahomes has those those those super bowls. I mean, it's,
- 30:48Speaker 5: you know, regardless of the pieces beyond beyond be around
- 30:51Speaker 5: him and you know, supporting him, he's able to just
- 30:53Speaker 5: make it work. And that's you know, how Brady was too,
- 30:55Speaker 5: And that's I think the ultimate hope is that you
- 30:58Speaker 5: feel fine paying a guy these huge contracts if you
- 31:01Speaker 5: truly believe that he's one of those guys that we're
- 31:03Speaker 5: never we're never going to be out it with this guy.
- 31:06Speaker 8: You know.
- 31:06Speaker 5: I don't know if I feel that way yet with
- 31:07Speaker 5: two or you know, with Jordan Love, but that to
- 31:11Speaker 5: me is like the pinnacle of quarterback when you believe
- 31:13Speaker 5: truly that you're never out of a game because that
- 31:15Speaker 5: guy is just so good. Even if he's having a
- 31:17Speaker 5: down game, you know he's going to put a drive
- 31:20Speaker 5: together at some point.
- 31:21Speaker 4: So just one observation, I was watching a little bit
- 31:25Speaker 4: of a walk through before they broke into position drills,
- 31:28Speaker 4: and the offensive line was the same one we saw
- 31:31Speaker 4: on Friday. Caden Wallace at left tackle, chooks a corps
- 31:35Speaker 4: for a right tackle. The interior three have been the
- 31:37Speaker 4: same all four days. So maybe this is a yeah,
- 31:42Speaker 4: I a step that they might want to get a
- 31:46Speaker 4: little bit longer off. A look at the rookie Wallace
- 31:48Speaker 4: at left tackle.
- 31:48Speaker 2: If I had to make a bet, I'd say that
- 31:50Speaker 2: that's the five.
- 31:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, what do you think is the best
- 31:54Speaker 5: for the team, Like, I mean just in terms of contracts,
- 31:56Speaker 5: young guys, old guys.
- 31:58Speaker 4: You know where's the guys? What is the best guys?
- 32:01Speaker 5: But yeah, well I know that, but but what do
- 32:02Speaker 5: you like? Is it best for this team? If Caden
- 32:05Speaker 5: Wallace is your left tackle?
- 32:06Speaker 4: The shaw and they kind of yes, is he the
- 32:09Speaker 4: best left tackle? That would be the best, That would
- 32:13Speaker 4: be the best for the team. If he was the best,
- 32:15Speaker 4: I would rather him play right tackle. I think they're
- 32:18Speaker 4: close to what I would.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Rather you So, what have you seen when he plays
- 32:22Speaker 2: left tackle?
- 32:23Speaker 7: Well, he's never played left.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Okay, so why are you saying that I'd rather see
- 32:26Speaker 2: him play right.
- 32:27Speaker 7: Because I would rather Chookes be a stopgap for a
- 32:30Speaker 7: year at left tackle.
- 32:32Speaker 3: No, I'd rather Kayden Wallace to establish himself at left
- 32:35Speaker 3: tackle and surprise everyone say, wow, this guy can play
- 32:37Speaker 3: left tackle.
- 32:38Speaker 2: The only reason he didn't do it?
- 32:40Speaker 4: You guys are arguing two different things. Yeah, and you're
- 32:42Speaker 4: both right. You were saying is right, But I don't
- 32:44Speaker 4: think that's what Evan's talking.
- 32:46Speaker 7: I would rather Kayden Wallace started at right tackle and
- 32:50Speaker 7: that way there when you go into the draft next
- 32:53Speaker 7: year and Will Campbell staring right at you from LSU,
- 32:56Speaker 7: all you're doing is dropping the left tackle in and
- 33:00Speaker 7: the rather other four guys have played a whole season
- 33:02Speaker 7: together in the same configuration. So when you go into
- 33:06Speaker 7: twenty twenty five and you would have from left to
- 33:09Speaker 7: right the rookie City David Andrews, Mike On went who
- 33:13Speaker 7: Caden Wallace and like that, you build up the continuity
- 33:17Speaker 7: that way. And if these two young tackles that are
- 33:19Speaker 7: in college right now, Will Campbell and Calvin Banks who
- 33:22Speaker 7: plays for Texas, if those two guys are as good
- 33:24Speaker 7: as everybody thinks they're gonna be, then next year you
- 33:27Speaker 7: would have a really, really solid But to get this.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Guy, you're gonna have to use a high draft pick
- 33:31Speaker 2: Will Campbell, Right.
- 33:32Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't think that that's gonna be difficult.
- 33:35Speaker 3: I would, I would, but I would rather have Caden
- 33:38Speaker 3: Wallace established himself with left tackle, whether a corps force
- 33:41Speaker 3: here next year or not. I don't know, but I'd
- 33:43Speaker 3: rather have to replace a right tackle, not have to
- 33:46Speaker 3: use a high first round pick on it, and get
- 33:48Speaker 3: that WR one or the best defensive player on the pool.
- 33:52Speaker 4: That's what you're like saying, Like you hold Wallace is like,
- 33:57Speaker 4: I hope he's the guy a really solid starting caliber
- 33:59Speaker 4: left tackle, like I think, like right, yeah, but again,
- 34:04Speaker 4: he played left tackle like I think Evan's looking at
- 34:06Speaker 4: It's like, that's probably not going.
- 34:07Speaker 6: To be the case.
- 34:08Speaker 4: A lot of like really good college left tackles play
- 34:11Speaker 4: right tackle as rookies. Yeah, you're asking this guy to
- 34:15Speaker 4: do the opposite. You're asking him to do the hotter
- 34:17Speaker 4: thing that he's never done. I'm not asking they are, no,
- 34:20Speaker 4: but that's like yeah, but I also do I'm hoping
- 34:23Speaker 4: if that Yeah, Like that's why I said, Look, what
- 34:25Speaker 4: you were saying is right, Like that would be awesome.
- 34:26Speaker 4: Now I don't even have to take a tackle next year.
- 34:29Speaker 4: But that's Josh Allen. I'm trying.
- 34:34Speaker 7: I just feel like they Candon Wallace has a better
- 34:37Speaker 7: chance of being a starting caliber right tackle. Then he
- 34:40Speaker 7: does a left tackle and chooks the corps four, holds
- 34:44Speaker 7: it down for a year you get into this transition period.
- 34:48Speaker 2: A CORPS four holds down left tackle, right.
- 34:50Speaker 7: Yeah, and then next year you're at the top of
- 34:53Speaker 7: the draft picking the tackle and if you just look
- 34:55Speaker 7: at how the board is going to shape up, and granted,
- 34:57Speaker 7: things can change in the fall, but the expect is
- 35:00Speaker 7: that Will Campbell and Calvin Banks are going to be
- 35:03Speaker 7: two of the top prospects in the entire.
- 35:04Speaker 3: Draft, not just that tack Listen, I've been preaching that
- 35:07Speaker 3: we need to have patience with this offense because it's
- 35:10Speaker 3: starting from scratch, and obviously we're talking about Drake may.
- 35:13Speaker 4: You're right about that.
- 35:14Speaker 3: I'd be willing to have patience. See what Caden Wallace
- 35:18Speaker 3: could do what left tackle for three, four five games
- 35:20Speaker 3: this year. If it's not working out, okay, then we
- 35:23Speaker 3: make the switch. And I understand that you know you
- 35:26Speaker 3: want the continuity, but we need to be patient with
- 35:30Speaker 3: all aspects of the offense this year.
- 35:32Speaker 4: Bright.
- 35:32Speaker 8: I like what you just said about preaching patients, because
- 35:36Speaker 8: I think that's exactly what Elliot Wolf and Drod Mayo
- 35:38Speaker 8: have been saying in terms of like dropped and developed,
- 35:40Speaker 8: and maybe they look at Kaden Wallace and they're like Okay,
- 35:42Speaker 8: we drafted this guy, now let's start him, and he's
- 35:45Speaker 8: going to develop all season long. It may not be
- 35:47Speaker 8: pretty all season long, but at least like maybe a
- 35:49Speaker 8: year of him starting at left tackle could mean a
- 35:53Speaker 8: lot of production for the future.
- 35:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I think.
- 35:55Speaker 5: For me, I hear what Evan's saying, though, there's like
- 35:57Speaker 5: just a certain security and saying, Kaden Wallace played right tackle,
- 36:01Speaker 5: He's gonna play right tackle on the pros. We feel
- 36:03Speaker 5: good about him playing right tackle, and we can just
- 36:05Speaker 5: focus on the left side, you know, next year rather
- 36:08Speaker 5: than right. Well, Katon Wallas did a pretty good job
- 36:10Speaker 5: on the left side. Now we're gonna flip him back
- 36:11Speaker 5: over to the right side then next year, Yeah, he does.
- 36:14Speaker 2: It's more at a certain dey. I'm saying, do it
- 36:16Speaker 2: during the season.
- 36:16Speaker 7: That's my concern is that it's a lot of moving
- 36:20Speaker 7: parts and Caden Wallace has never played left tackle before,
- 36:25Speaker 7: so you're asking him to climb a mountain and just
- 36:27Speaker 7: doing that in itself no offense to chooks the corps for.
- 36:31Speaker 7: But if he's kind of got to fall on that
- 36:33Speaker 7: sword for a year and play the left side, then
- 36:36Speaker 7: it's kind of like Jacoby Bris said at quarterback right.
- 36:38Speaker 3: It's like, say, Evan is you know, you say it's
- 36:40Speaker 3: like climbing him mountain. For some people it is, maybe
- 36:42Speaker 3: for him it won't be.
- 36:43Speaker 2: I don't know, and i'd like to see.
- 36:45Speaker 7: I just know that there's a lot of people that
- 36:48Speaker 7: not only didn't think that Caden Wallace was a left tackle,
- 36:52Speaker 7: they didn't think Kaden Wallace was a tackle. Like there's
- 36:55Speaker 7: a lot of people that thought that he's projected best
- 36:57Speaker 7: inside at guard. So now you're asking him to play
- 37:00Speaker 7: the left side. It's just a lot and I would
- 37:02Speaker 7: just much rather I worry for him too in his development,
- 37:06Speaker 7: Like if you throw him in that left tackle and
- 37:08Speaker 7: it's just he's taking on water, Like, what's the point
- 37:12Speaker 7: in that in his development? Like he now all of
- 37:13Speaker 7: a sudden he's going to be derailed and you just
- 37:15Speaker 7: blew a top one hundred pick.
- 37:17Speaker 2: What's the next time we get to talk to Scott Peters?
- 37:21Speaker 8: Yeah, probably soon, But don't you think, like, especially when
- 37:24Speaker 8: you look at a guy like City Sow and how
- 37:26Speaker 8: he was kind of thrown into the fire, that now
- 37:28Speaker 8: he's better for it.
- 37:29Speaker 7: Because he was he got Yeah, absolutely, but he was
- 37:31Speaker 7: playing his natural position.
- 37:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I so so they actually tried to do that
- 37:35Speaker 4: with him and it was a disaster. Yeah, they tried
- 37:37Speaker 4: to do some tackle stuff with him last year, to
- 37:40Speaker 4: Evan's point, Yeah, and then they moved him back inside
- 37:42Speaker 4: where he was sort of had more experience. I have
- 37:45Speaker 4: a this.
- 37:46Speaker 7: Isn't you know. When I've had conversations with Dante Scarnekia,
- 37:51Speaker 7: he always talks about continuity being like his big thing, right.
- 37:54Speaker 7: He wanted if it was up to him, they would
- 37:57Speaker 7: start training camp day one with their starting five. And
- 38:00Speaker 7: obviously injuries and all that stuff make it impossible, but
- 38:02Speaker 7: they would go through the whole year with the same
- 38:03Speaker 7: five guys to build up continuity, even if that isn't
- 38:07Speaker 7: necessarily what we think is the best five on paper,
- 38:11Speaker 7: that is what they would want to do. And I
- 38:13Speaker 7: just feel like the last couple of years along the
- 38:14Speaker 7: offensive line, and granted, injuries has a big part of it,
- 38:18Speaker 7: but they're just constantly shuffling. You know, there's constantly guys
- 38:22Speaker 7: in and now there's constantly you know, different configurations and
- 38:25Speaker 7: things like that, and I would just like to see
- 38:27Speaker 7: it settle down a little bit in.
- 38:28Speaker 2: That wallace on your screens right now, if you're interested.
- 38:31Speaker 8: I mean I think that started with Bill not managing
- 38:34Speaker 8: this roster appropriately. I mean Mac Jones after his rookie year,
- 38:37Speaker 8: like how did you let those two guys just.
- 38:39Speaker 7: Walk out the door?
- 38:40Speaker 2: It started with Joe Toney.
- 38:41Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, even going farther back, but even like Mac Jones, like,
- 38:45Speaker 8: why couldn't you just sign those guys and keep those
- 38:47Speaker 8: guys instead of letting them.
- 38:48Speaker 7: Walk out the door? I mean, his year is the best,
- 38:51Speaker 7: the last time the line was actually solid, Yeah, exactly,
- 38:54Speaker 7: and you had the chance to keep those guys and
- 38:55Speaker 7: you let them walk.
- 38:56Speaker 3: And I know we're talking about the two most important
- 38:59Speaker 3: offensive line positions, tackle, but I do feel some confidence
- 39:03Speaker 3: that interior seems to be a little bit settled now.
- 39:07Speaker 3: The problem, though, is David Andrews didn't get it any younger.
- 39:10Speaker 3: At some point, you're going to need a new center,
- 39:12Speaker 3: and it's probably sooner than later.
- 39:14Speaker 7: Right, Yeah, that's a good point. But I am feeling
- 39:17Speaker 7: more confident about what they did in the interior because
- 39:20Speaker 7: on when he was gonna most likely play guard, which
- 39:23Speaker 7: is where I feel like he's at his best, and.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Well, he's your Joe Toney. He can he can in
- 39:27Speaker 3: a pinch, he can play tackle.
- 39:29Speaker 7: Yeah, but he's gonna that interior three should be solid,
- 39:32Speaker 7: and it's it's manageable if you have one week link
- 39:36Speaker 7: on the offensive line and if that, if that interior
- 39:39Speaker 7: is solid for you all year long, then you can
- 39:41Speaker 7: build around that. Then that's something that you can work
- 39:44Speaker 7: off of. So it's not that it's a complete disaster
- 39:46Speaker 7: yet or anything like that. I just I wonder why
- 39:49Speaker 7: they would want. Essentially, what I view it as is
- 39:52Speaker 7: like you're playing a rookie at a position. Yeah, with
- 39:55Speaker 7: Caden Wallace a left tackle, I'd rather play the veteran
- 39:58Speaker 7: out a position in Chukes a korps for who isn't
- 40:00Speaker 7: necessarily a part of the long term plan anyway. It's
- 40:03Speaker 7: it's it's similar to the situation at quarterback, like Jacoby
- 40:07Speaker 7: Brissett might have to go out there and take some
- 40:09Speaker 7: licks so that Drake May doesn't have to. And that's
- 40:12Speaker 7: kind of the what.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Do you think will know by like, Okay, that's.
- 40:15Speaker 7: The five I think the joint practices.
- 40:18Speaker 4: I know.
- 40:18Speaker 8: I keep saying that about even with Drake May, I
- 40:21Speaker 8: feel like that's the moment where like if he's going
- 40:23Speaker 8: to be competitive and take the spot over, it's going
- 40:25Speaker 8: to be that moment.
- 40:25Speaker 7: I'm not saying the start, I.
- 40:27Speaker 4: Was thinking the same thing.
- 40:28Speaker 3: But I also want to use that joint practice to
- 40:31Speaker 3: see some things because now I'm going against the team
- 40:34Speaker 3: that's really trying, you know, not to say that they're
- 40:36Speaker 3: not in practice, but you know what I mean, yep.
- 40:38Speaker 3: And and so i'd like to experiment a little in
- 40:43Speaker 3: that situation too. So I'm thinking maybe it won't be
- 40:46Speaker 3: until third preseason game, you know, I.
- 40:50Speaker 7: Would hope they would know that I'm with you to Mary,
- 40:53Speaker 7: like that's that to me is too late, Like now
- 40:55Speaker 7: I feel like you're in trouble. But I just this
- 40:59Speaker 7: line is already a big question mark for a lot
- 41:01Speaker 7: of us, I think, just from a talent standpoint, a
- 41:04Speaker 7: personnel standpoint, and we still don't really know what the
- 41:07Speaker 7: coaching is going to bring either. So I would just
- 41:09Speaker 7: rather everybody just play where they belong, you know, and
- 41:12Speaker 7: that way there you at least are building off of
- 41:14Speaker 7: that from square one, and eventually you have to to
- 41:18Speaker 7: solidify something here and tomorrow they're gonna put the bads on,
- 41:21Speaker 7: and I'd like to see it happen as soon as tomorrow.
- 41:23Speaker 7: Where we're just we're committed, we're rolling with these five.
- 41:27Speaker 5: One other thing I think, and that's hard to project,
- 41:30Speaker 5: is that if a CORP four plays left tackle this
- 41:32Speaker 5: year and he plays, okay, he's on a one year deal,
- 41:34Speaker 5: he's gonna get paid next year, Like they're gonna have
- 41:36Speaker 5: to figure out, you know, do they do they want
- 41:39Speaker 5: to pay him again? And what if he's good enough
- 41:41Speaker 5: that you're not in position to draft Will Campbell? You know,
- 41:44Speaker 5: and now some other Now other teams are going to
- 41:47Speaker 5: get involved, and maybe you don't feel like this guy's
- 41:49Speaker 5: not going to be the left.
- 41:50Speaker 3: As whether it's Will Campbell or the next best guy,
- 41:54Speaker 3: the Patriots will be in position to get a good
- 41:56Speaker 3: left tackle if they want to use it in the
- 41:58Speaker 3: first round.
- 41:58Speaker 7: Yeah. So you know, Campbell right now is is considered
- 42:03Speaker 7: a stud, you know, but Joe Alt was considered a
- 42:05Speaker 7: stud too and he ended up going fifth. So it's
- 42:07Speaker 7: not like it's a guarantee that he's going to go
- 42:09Speaker 7: in the top three or anything like that. But without
- 42:12Speaker 7: this being a quarterback heavy draft, that would be that
- 42:14Speaker 7: would be the projection right now.
- 42:16Speaker 2: I would just love to not have to go into
- 42:18Speaker 2: the draft thinking, okay, we have to use the first round.
- 42:20Speaker 4: Yeah, left tack, right right. I don't think that they
- 42:23Speaker 4: would have to, but like why not, Like, I mean,
- 42:25Speaker 4: I think you could, but I don't think you have to.
- 42:28Speaker 4: I think you could easily make an argument for a
- 42:30Speaker 4: wide receiver too, right, But you have to something else.
- 42:33Speaker 4: Edge Rusher.
- 42:34Speaker 6: Yeah, that's why you know. I gave you.
- 42:36Speaker 4: I gave you something else.
- 42:37Speaker 3: But if the defense, but if the tax, if the
- 42:40Speaker 3: offensive line isn't good this year and it's because of
- 42:42Speaker 3: the tackles you're going to have to have.
- 42:44Speaker 4: That probably forces your hand right right.
- 42:46Speaker 3: But I'm I'm hoping that we're excited about Drake May.
- 42:51Speaker 3: He's going to be the guy, and next year is
- 42:53Speaker 3: going to be about filling in pieces around him to
- 42:56Speaker 3: make this offense even better.
- 42:58Speaker 7: Yeah. I mean the receivers in this class, I haven't
- 43:02Speaker 7: done deep dives into any of them, but Luther Burden
- 43:04Speaker 7: is like the consensus number one receiver in the class
- 43:06Speaker 7: coming up. But he's not considered to be neighbors Harrison
- 43:11Speaker 7: and the duneesay like he's probably more considered on that
- 43:14Speaker 7: lower tier you're like not quite two years ago, like
- 43:16Speaker 7: probably a little bit better in the middle somewhere there.
- 43:19Speaker 7: So you know, he's a good player. And he is
- 43:21Speaker 7: more of like that. I would compare him maybe to
- 43:25Speaker 7: like a move piece, like he's not an X, like
- 43:28Speaker 7: a true X. You know, he's gonna be somebody that's
- 43:29Speaker 7: gonna move around the formation and do some different things
- 43:32Speaker 7: for you. And he's dynamic and he's an explosive athlete.
- 43:35Speaker 7: But I just don't necessarily I guess maybe I prioritize
- 43:40Speaker 7: the left tackle a little bit higher, Like I would
- 43:41Speaker 7: much rather get the receiver in the veteran market, like
- 43:44Speaker 7: I'll get Brandon Aiyuk or T Higgins or whatever, and
- 43:48Speaker 7: I would take the tackle.
- 43:49Speaker 4: But I'm just saying, like, you don't necessarily have to
- 43:51Speaker 4: do you prioritize it however you see fit.
- 43:54Speaker 3: That was my only point, Mike and bill Rickin is
- 43:56Speaker 3: my seventh training camp since I turned since I start
- 44:00Speaker 3: to go into Patriots camp, and I turned it into
- 44:03Speaker 3: an annual birthday tradition.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Thrill to be here, especially with the shade today. Weighing
- 44:07Speaker 2: in on the Wallace conversation, I'm with Evan on this one.
- 44:10Speaker 2: I want us to put our players in the best
- 44:12Speaker 2: possible position to successfully develop. I do think Wallace is
- 44:17Speaker 2: out of position at left tackle. Also, Wow, Joe Milton
- 44:20Speaker 2: throws the ball effortlessly. I'm all in on Mail, but
- 44:24Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 44:25Speaker 3: To see the Bazuka on May, I should say, but
- 44:28Speaker 3: I'm excited to see the Bazuka unleashed.
- 44:31Speaker 4: Sorry, Paul, I hate to get the back flop. I
- 44:35Speaker 4: think he has one of the best times I've ever seen. Ever.
- 44:38Speaker 4: You don't have to yeah, I mean like l way
- 44:40Speaker 4: like yeah.
- 44:41Speaker 8: I have a question, Paul. Do you think that it's
- 44:44Speaker 8: too late to learn how to properly train that type
- 44:47Speaker 8: of arm or do you think that was something that
- 44:50Speaker 8: should have been done.
- 44:51Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know. I'm just going off of
- 44:53Speaker 4: his college career was bad. It wasn't even like not good,
- 44:57Speaker 4: it was bad. Yeah, luck too. I mean, he's just
- 45:01Speaker 4: he didn't play a lot. I don't know.
- 45:02Speaker 5: I mean Ryan Ryan Mallet kind of had similar questions,
- 45:04Speaker 5: didn't he When he came in and he just had
- 45:07Speaker 5: an absolute cannon.
- 45:08Speaker 4: But you know, it's like it's like the wild Stallion.
- 45:11Speaker 4: You know, you gotta you have to train? Was that
- 45:12Speaker 4: Wild Stallions from h Yeah? From Ryan was a lot
- 45:16Speaker 4: better in Arkansas that Joe Milton was.
- 45:19Speaker 5: Sure, Yeah, for sure, But but I don't think he
- 45:22Speaker 5: ever really found the touch right that he needed.
- 45:26Speaker 7: The Tennessee tape is just it's just not good.
- 45:29Speaker 4: And so I've had a lot of people, you know,
- 45:31Speaker 4: and I listen, I'm no college football expert. I don't
- 45:34Speaker 4: I don't pretend to watch these games and break him down.
- 45:36Speaker 4: But I've had a lot of people reach out to
- 45:39Speaker 4: me from that area and send me clips of the
- 45:44Speaker 4: different things that got him in trouble a lot, and
- 45:47Speaker 4: I just I'm not sure I didn't. Some guys just
- 45:51Speaker 4: aren't quarterbacks. I think he's a great athlete.
- 45:54Speaker 5: I'm not sure he's a quarter I think I mean,
- 45:55Speaker 5: I think it's and it might just to me be
- 45:57Speaker 5: more processing than trying to figure out how to the
- 46:00Speaker 5: short passes. It's I mean, that's what stood out to
- 46:02Speaker 5: me from OTAs was that look great seven on seven.
- 46:05Speaker 5: But then once there was a defense doing some confusing
- 46:08Speaker 5: stuff that he didn't know what they were going to do,
- 46:10Speaker 5: he looked a little bit more unsure where to go
- 46:12Speaker 5: with the ball, and you know, a little rushed. And
- 46:14Speaker 5: then but we all know the mechanics get messed up
- 46:16Speaker 5: from our.
- 46:17Speaker 4: Physical from the physical study point, you watch the guy
- 46:20Speaker 4: and it's just case it can't.
- 46:22Speaker 7: That's why I kind of feel like as a backup quarterback,
- 46:26Speaker 7: it's not it's never a bad thing to have your
- 46:28Speaker 7: backup quarterback have a trait that is just stands alone.
- 46:31Speaker 7: You know. Maybe some people would rather have, you know,
- 46:34Speaker 7: someone that can come in, like Chase Daniel that can
- 46:37Speaker 7: just come in and keep you in games and things
- 46:38Speaker 7: like that. But at the same time, if you want
- 46:41Speaker 7: to have a backup quarterback, that's the opposite where it's like, okay, well,
- 46:45Speaker 7: if he has to get into a game, at least
- 46:46Speaker 7: we know we can throw it a mile, like, you know,
- 46:49Speaker 7: you have that call for you, right, so I don't know,
- 46:52Speaker 7: you can go out with it.
- 46:53Speaker 5: Almost it almost makes me wonder what it would have
- 46:54Speaker 5: been like if you know the situation where like it
- 46:57Speaker 5: wasn't twenty sixteen where all of a sudden the third
- 46:59Speaker 5: string rookie quack just had to get thrust into it and.
- 47:02Speaker 4: It was him and it was like we're just running
- 47:04Speaker 4: four verts every.
- 47:05Speaker 7: Time, you like basically what tennessee, Yeah, we talked about
- 47:11Speaker 7: Pop Douglas for a second, because has he been popping
- 47:13Speaker 7: for you? No, this is just super weird, like what's
- 47:15Speaker 7: going on with him? So Earlier he was he was
- 47:18Speaker 7: fielding kickoffs. Now he's going through positional drills with the
- 47:22Speaker 7: receivers and catching passes. The point that I made on Yeah,
- 47:25Speaker 7: and then we get to team and he's just off
- 47:27Speaker 7: to the side, not participating. I don't know what the
- 47:30Speaker 7: injury is or what it is, but he looked. You
- 47:33Speaker 7: watch him run around and he's running five Do you.
- 47:36Speaker 8: Think that there is fear that there could be contact
- 47:40Speaker 8: though in some of those team drills, because you know,
- 47:41Speaker 8: sometimes they get bumped and you fall. Do you do
- 47:43Speaker 8: they just want to avoid that altogether?
- 47:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't know. I'm just I'm not saying that.
- 47:47Speaker 7: It's like, I'm not trying to go all tinfoil hat
- 47:49Speaker 7: on anybody and say it's some conspiracy, but just weird.
- 47:52Speaker 7: It's just odd that he's seems to be doing something.
- 47:57Speaker 2: I can understand.
- 47:57Speaker 3: I can understand them not rolling out the gadget plays
- 48:01Speaker 3: with him yet, but you would think you'd want to
- 48:04Speaker 3: have him just doing the normal team drills with wide
- 48:06Speaker 3: receivers because he needs the practice too, you know. So
- 48:10Speaker 3: I don't know, I'm trying to imagine what he trying
- 48:14Speaker 3: to imagine what injury would keep him from doing all
- 48:17Speaker 3: wide receiver drills, but then not do it when you
- 48:20Speaker 3: do team.
- 48:20Speaker 7: I thought there's no way. Almost I feelt there's no
- 48:25Speaker 7: way it could be hand because if it had then
- 48:28Speaker 7: you wouldn't be fieldinges.
- 48:30Speaker 5: I will say too, I think it's been kind of
- 48:32Speaker 5: noticeable without his presence within there's not a lot of
- 48:36Speaker 5: pop in the in the receiver room to begin with,
- 48:38Speaker 5: but his quickness, his change in direction, it's it's.
- 48:41Speaker 4: Unique in this group.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Well when they do that little you know, angling tackling
- 48:46Speaker 2: drill like he's you know, he's on a different level
- 48:50Speaker 2: than most of the guys, the sudden change of direction.
- 48:54Speaker 4: But he'd be a nice piece to see.
- 48:56Speaker 5: I think we're also used to that kind of role
- 48:59Speaker 5: being highly productive in the old system.
- 49:03Speaker 4: You know, how much is it going to fit into
- 49:05Speaker 4: this new system?
- 49:05Speaker 5: You know, is is that you know, slot guy's still
- 49:07Speaker 5: really going to be as big of a piece as
- 49:11Speaker 5: it kind of was with the Josh McDaniels offense.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Well, I mean, going back to Dante, you gotta have
- 49:16Speaker 3: that banky. Yeah, it's either your tight end or a
- 49:19Speaker 3: slot guy.
- 49:20Speaker 5: Usually it's just it's just how much is he is
- 49:22Speaker 5: he going to play? Like when it's you know, I
- 49:24Speaker 5: clearly third long. Yeah, he's going to be out there,
- 49:26Speaker 5: but you know, conventionally in time and on rhythm the
- 49:29Speaker 5: offense is in you know, in structure, like.
- 49:31Speaker 7: Is I just I don't know, I don't know where
- 49:33Speaker 7: he fits into the type of scheme that they at
- 49:35Speaker 7: least want to run on paper on first down. Like
- 49:38Speaker 7: that's the biggest thing to me is that if you
- 49:40Speaker 7: want to be a run first offense and build the
- 49:42Speaker 7: play action off of it, are you really going to
- 49:43Speaker 7: have one hundred and eighty pound receiver is like one
- 49:46Speaker 7: of your two wide receivers on the field and like
- 49:48Speaker 7: a twelve personnel. No, You're probably gonna want to have
- 49:51Speaker 7: guys that can block and can throw their weight around
- 49:53Speaker 7: a little bit. And that that's why I wonder if
- 49:55Speaker 7: his role is more third down yeah, two minute minute
- 50:00Speaker 7: like you know in the game situations obvious passing downs
- 50:03Speaker 7: like things like that, and that might like disappoint some people.
- 50:07Speaker 4: Yeah, if that's the case.
- 50:08Speaker 7: But when you got out there first and ten from
- 50:10Speaker 7: the twenty five, you know is and you have to
- 50:12Speaker 7: ask somebody to you know, block the nickel, Like are
- 50:15Speaker 7: you really going to ask Pop Douglas to be the
- 50:16Speaker 7: one that's doing.
- 50:17Speaker 5: That, whereas with like Polk, like maybe not the burner
- 50:21Speaker 5: or the sudden, but like got the size.
- 50:22Speaker 7: And it's no coincidence to me that that Polk and
- 50:25Speaker 7: Baker both have some size to them and when they
- 50:28Speaker 7: drafted those guys, I think you look at these West
- 50:31Speaker 7: Coast offenses and these coaching trees. You look at San
- 50:34Speaker 7: Francisco with a Yuke and Debo, and you look at
- 50:37Speaker 7: the Packers, Watson, Dobbs, like those guys are bigger guys,
- 50:41Speaker 7: you know, the Rams, Cooper, Cup, Hohoka, Nakua. That's the
- 50:44Speaker 7: type of body type that they tend to go after.
- 50:48Speaker 7: And uh and that definitely is what Baker and polkar.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Yeah, Sun's starting to poke through again.
- 50:53Speaker 4: Dang it. It was really nice that an.
- 50:55Speaker 3: Nice reprieve for a little bit, But here comes the sun.
- 50:58Speaker 3: I'm not complaining though. Summer is too short, right.
- 51:05Speaker 5: It seems like this week's going to be a little
- 51:06Speaker 5: up and down with the weather too, so it might
- 51:09Speaker 5: be a little wet out there tomorrow for pads.
- 51:12Speaker 7: So twenty five twenty US after the first quarter against Serbia,
- 51:18Speaker 7: for people that.
- 51:19Speaker 4: Care, Okay, Serbia is good. Thank you, Scott Hansome.
- 51:22Speaker 7: Jason Tatum has yet to play in the game to play,
- 51:26Speaker 7: yet to play in the game. So do you think
- 51:29Speaker 7: they're they're saving him? I think Steve Kurse stinks and
- 51:32Speaker 7: it's actually going to get me fired up, So I
- 51:34Speaker 7: think we should move on, you want?
- 51:37Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah.
- 51:41Speaker 6: The Douglas thing, to me is is different.
- 51:43Speaker 4: I know that Mark Daniels reported a hand, and Mayo
- 51:47Speaker 4: sort of confirmed that he was dealing with something that
- 51:50Speaker 4: wasn't serious and was considered day to day, But it
- 51:54Speaker 4: is hard to imagine it's a hand.
- 51:56Speaker 6: When he's catching the ball as much as he is.
- 51:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 51:59Speaker 5: Yeah, well you don't want to speculate player.
- 52:04Speaker 4: No, at least he's out here.
- 52:05Speaker 5: I mean, but he looks great. I mean he's flying
- 52:08Speaker 5: around like he always does.
- 52:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 52:10Speaker 5: Yeah, we said we did see Mapu walk walk out.
- 52:14Speaker 5: You know that's another you know, disappointing one. Just guys
- 52:17Speaker 5: first second year, Yep, they start missing practices. It's like, man,
- 52:21Speaker 5: how how is he going to crack this lineup? With
- 52:23Speaker 5: Jalen Hawkins making a push, Pepper's and Duggar are now
- 52:25Speaker 5: secure and kind of what their roles are.
- 52:27Speaker 4: Going to be.
- 52:28Speaker 5: You know, Mapu It's just he needs an opportunity and
- 52:31Speaker 5: he needs to take advantage of it.
- 52:32Speaker 4: And right now, I'm just I'm just not really sure
- 52:35Speaker 4: where that's going to come other than special teams.
- 52:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I will hardly agree with you bringing up Mapu.
- 52:39Speaker 7: I'm glad you did, because you cannot. He has to
- 52:42Speaker 7: be out there, like, he's got to be a guy
- 52:44Speaker 7: that that cars out a role for himself. And right now,
- 52:48Speaker 7: you know, he can't make the club from the tub, right,
- 52:50Speaker 7: So obviously a guy that you wish was out there.
- 52:53Speaker 4: And you know, you wonder if there was an opportunity
- 52:55Speaker 4: there for him too, because Taki Taki's been on PUP
- 52:58Speaker 4: and you know, we talk about him. Is he a safety?
- 53:01Speaker 4: Is he a linebacker? We've seen almost all safety, but
- 53:04Speaker 4: that's the kind of linebacker he could be.
- 53:06Speaker 5: Is that that mold that Mac Wilson was, And Taki
- 53:10Speaker 5: Taki figures to be an athletic guy, maybe in sub
- 53:15Speaker 5: packages and whatnot, you know, closer to the line of skimmage.
- 53:18Speaker 4: But you know, neither one of them have been out here.
- 53:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I was hoping that, you know, we're talking about
- 53:22Speaker 7: this a little bit on Catchway two with Matt Mapu.
- 53:25Speaker 7: I was kind of hoping that they might look at
- 53:27Speaker 7: him as like almost like a big nickel because when
- 53:31Speaker 7: they usually go to nickel, like it's gonna be Marcus
- 53:33Speaker 7: Jones or Jonathan Jones and they just don't have a
- 53:35Speaker 7: ton of size and screen and they haven't had a
- 53:38Speaker 7: ton of size there in years, you know, Miles Bryant's
- 53:40Speaker 7: been in there or whatever, and it would be nice to,
- 53:43Speaker 7: you know, when you play these Shanahan Tree teams, you know,
- 53:45Speaker 7: like the Dolphins and things like that, when they come
- 53:48Speaker 7: out heavy on first down, to have a player like
- 53:50Speaker 7: a Mapu who could cover the slot, cover a tight
- 53:53Speaker 7: end and and be able to hold up against the
- 53:55Speaker 7: run and not necessarily allow Mike McDaniel to just target
- 53:59Speaker 7: Marcus Owns and Jonathan Jones in the corners in the
- 54:02Speaker 7: run game. Even Christian Gonzalez is not necessarily like a
- 54:05Speaker 7: physical guy. And I've seen that in the last couple
- 54:08Speaker 7: of years with those Shanahan Tree teams that that tends
- 54:11Speaker 7: to happen at times, and you'd like to see Maphu
- 54:14Speaker 7: maybe carbon or role like that.
- 54:16Speaker 2: There was is that Milton who just skied one as Jacobe,
- 54:23Speaker 2: Is this the first day we've had overflow onto the
- 54:25Speaker 2: ramps with the fans.
- 54:26Speaker 4: I believe.
- 54:26Speaker 5: So yeah, it's definitely very Uh, it's a good crowd today,
- 54:32Speaker 5: trout today, Sunday, Sunday fun day.
- 54:34Speaker 7: Yeah, let's bring your mom to birthday.
- 54:37Speaker 4: And your grandma and my grandma.
- 54:40Speaker 6: Nobody's got a better seat than them sitting in the view.
- 54:45Speaker 7: I couldn't put them out there and beat Drake made
- 54:48Speaker 7: a Jay bom baker against air.
- 54:52Speaker 9: Well.
- 54:52Speaker 4: On fairness, they haven't haven't hit them all against their
- 54:55Speaker 4: so far, so it's a little concerning.
- 54:57Speaker 7: It is funny watching these quarterbacks throw again there because
- 55:01Speaker 7: you know, guys like Drink May and Joe Milton are
- 55:04Speaker 7: obviously it's such a different look than Mac and Bailey's appy.
- 55:08Speaker 7: It can's there, but the accuracy isn't always there. But
- 55:11Speaker 7: the ball comes out faster, you know.
- 55:13Speaker 5: No, it's it's so nice not to every time you
- 55:15Speaker 5: see him throwing a deep out like gauging the speed
- 55:18Speaker 5: of it. It's just every it's it's like, look, I
- 55:21Speaker 5: don't know if it's going to be right where it
- 55:22Speaker 5: needs to be every time.
- 55:23Speaker 4: But he's got people.
- 55:24Speaker 5: I mean, both those guys got the arm.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Let's see. Patrick writes in a little bright. So a
- 55:34Speaker 3: couple of things I want to throw out there. First,
- 55:36Speaker 3: I was wondering which of the four quarterbacks has the
- 55:38Speaker 3: biggest reaction from the crowd when they've taken the field
- 55:41Speaker 3: for this camp.
- 55:42Speaker 4: I think they're all about the same.
- 55:44Speaker 7: Honestly, I feel like the biggest cheer I've heard so
- 55:46Speaker 7: far is for Judon, not a quarter.
- 55:48Speaker 3: Right, and Fred, I love you, You're the king of
- 55:51Speaker 3: Patriots media, but I couldn't disagree with you more. Regarding
- 55:54Speaker 3: the left tackle position, if you want to stud at
- 55:56Speaker 3: that position, you have to draft him, and more often
- 55:59Speaker 3: than not, draft them high. Usually the guys have become
- 56:02Speaker 3: available via free agency, usually have injury concerns or the
- 56:06Speaker 3: middle of the road players. And I remember Paul saying
- 56:09Speaker 3: something like, if you have a good player at that position,
- 56:12Speaker 3: why would you trade them when I called in and
- 56:15Speaker 3: proposed trading for Orlando Brown.
- 56:17Speaker 2: A few years ago.
- 56:20Speaker 3: If their prognostic cators are correct and we ended up
- 56:23Speaker 3: picking top five, again, go get that stud left tackle.
- 56:27Speaker 4: But you know, okay, so everybody's.
- 56:31Speaker 7: Definition, Jalens just become a high from who Jacobe bressetting
- 56:41Speaker 7: one on one's go ball to Jalen Rager and his
- 56:44Speaker 7: eazy hearns having a tough tamp.
- 56:46Speaker 3: Oh right, mister, But you know everyone's definition of stud
- 56:52Speaker 3: is different. But I think you know, you can get
- 56:55Speaker 3: a good left tackle and it doesn't have to be
- 56:57Speaker 3: Orlando Brown or you know, Tyrone Smith and you can win.
- 57:02Speaker 7: Oh well, that's that was beautiful. Great throwing catch from
- 57:07Speaker 7: Drake made a Kaishan Boody on Christian Gonzalez.
- 57:10Speaker 4: Yeah, really strong.
- 57:11Speaker 7: Catch by Booty and a dropping in the bucket throw
- 57:14Speaker 7: on a go route.
- 57:15Speaker 5: Thornton got some separation ball behind him, still makes the Yeah,
- 57:20Speaker 5: that was twenty nine I think pulld h Yeah, nice catch.
- 57:26Speaker 5: That's some separation though there from Thorny.
- 57:28Speaker 3: Oh, that's a nice catch on this field. Zappi to
- 57:31Speaker 3: eighty eight Jahaeane Bell Jahaime Bell.
- 57:36Speaker 2: Real good.
- 57:36Speaker 3: He had coverage, was right there and he just focused
- 57:40Speaker 3: and basically took it away from the defender.
- 57:45Speaker 7: Drake May taking a decent amount of these.
- 57:50Speaker 4: Thirty field David Wallace.
- 57:52Speaker 7: Yeah, David Wallace, that he ain't that fast.
- 57:54Speaker 4: Too long, You're never wrong long, David Wallace. Course, character
- 58:00Speaker 4: in the office. Seven, it's true. There's the Brakes on
- 58:06Speaker 4: and oh Man forty seven.
- 58:07Speaker 3: All Yeah, a lot of contact there. I'm not sure
- 58:10Speaker 3: if the rest were here that wouldn't get a flag.
- 58:16Speaker 5: We're back at the top of the order here one
- 58:18Speaker 5: verse thirty Henry smokes Jabrill Pepper.
- 58:20Speaker 7: Sorry, dude, that's going to get a No.
- 58:22Speaker 5: That's a good separation there from one over thirty one.
- 58:26Speaker 5: That's a good win for him.
- 58:29Speaker 7: Yeah, those are the types of routes to that highlighted.
- 58:31Speaker 7: Expect a ton of those from Jal and Paul crossing
- 58:34Speaker 7: route over the middle. That's his bread and butter.
- 58:37Speaker 4: Joe and Baker trying to get on as easy and miscommunication.
- 58:41Speaker 4: He wanted them to do the comeback.
- 58:42Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 58:48Speaker 4: So this is one thing that sort of surprised me
- 58:51Speaker 4: that we haven't seen much else until today, and a.
- 58:54Speaker 7: Lot of team so far. It's nice.
- 58:57Speaker 4: Wow ball fourteen to two obvious sideline. This is the
- 59:01Speaker 4: day the Patriots offense hit its stride.
- 59:04Speaker 7: In Some of these go balls have been beautiful.
- 59:07Speaker 4: Yeah, Drake May back in there.
- 59:10Speaker 5: Have you got you got Marco Wilson one against eighty
- 59:16Speaker 5: three greger Man.
- 59:19Speaker 4: He looks loose, he moves Man.
- 59:21Speaker 2: Wide open, but May wasn't on the same page.
- 59:25Speaker 5: May overthrew him, but as an Alady threw it about
- 59:28Speaker 5: two feet over his head.
- 59:29Speaker 4: I think he did. I didn't think he was gonna juju.
- 59:32Speaker 5: Juju vers Gonzales. It's a little shake. Oh god, No,
- 59:37Speaker 5: Gonzalez was all over that one probably would have been
- 59:41Speaker 5: a pick.
- 59:41Speaker 7: If absolutely, I.
- 59:44Speaker 4: Thought he should have got it too juju. I mean
- 59:47Speaker 4: went right off the stage.
- 59:50Speaker 7: That happened a ton last year. Well, I'm too far
- 59:55Speaker 7: in front of Chasehawn Boody. But that's another good route
- 59:58Speaker 7: by Booty on Marcus Jones. Is that who that? Yeah,
- 1:00:02Speaker 7: a couple of misfires there from Drake. I thought.
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: A couple beats up the sideline from both guys.
- 1:00:12Speaker 7: Yeah, some times off the sideline. Both quarterbacks were going.
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: Now we're on the other side, all right, all right,
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: river side it right.
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: Wait, we learned something new this year. Last year was chalk.
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: That's just chalk.
- 1:00:24Speaker 7: I can't believe that. That was so groundbreaking.
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: David Wallace, Oh.
- 1:00:28Speaker 7: He just can't time it up with David Wallace.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: But he beat his man.
- 1:00:34Speaker 7: It's David Wells too.
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: Well, did I call him?
- 1:00:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I think you're thinking of the office guy.
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: It's Wallace. His name was Wallace.
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: Yeah, number thirty it's a l L I s yeah, okay,
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: it's a different wallace.
- 1:00:51Speaker 7: But taekwon taekwon, of course doing very well in the
- 1:00:56Speaker 7: drill one and the drill with a little contact and
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: no pads.
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: Here's an we got. It's like one got overthrown a
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: little bit there against what Sean.
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: Rag and boo. I think I stood out to me.
- 1:01:18Speaker 7: Paul, like how you brought that up? Because I feel
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: like Booty ended the last day of mini camp really
- 1:01:22Speaker 7: strong with a couple of catches.
- 1:01:23Speaker 8: And I was wondering how he's gonna come out here
- 1:01:25Speaker 8: to training camp.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: He has pass as your has your work from home

- 1:02:03Speaker 4: One on ones.
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: Continuing here with wide receivers and cornerbacks on our right field,
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: and looks like a lot of linebackers and safeties and
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: tight ends and running backs on our left field. The
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: lines worked down in Dante's Inferno. We're still calling that.
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: So yeah, Jamon Baker going here, h against it's a
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: bomb and right right in front of the crowd, and
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: he throws the ball into the air in celebration.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: That's what you called running underneath it and he caught
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: up to that him great adjustment, Yeah, yeah, over his
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: shoulder looking up, found it and he beat him right
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: off the line. Yeah, you know from from the go he.
- 1:02:41Speaker 7: Was he had the step that's Mikey Victor like an
- 1:02:45Speaker 7: undrafted rookie. But yeah, that was a great adjustment over
- 1:02:50Speaker 7: the shoulders.
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: Still though, this is you know, Baker Riager. I feel
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: like I made some boy.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: Can't forget about it a little bit of and this
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: is what the crowd is looking for. Why gets them going,
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: oh yeah yeah? Bomb passes right in front of these connections.
- 1:03:03Speaker 7: Fred.
- 1:03:04Speaker 8: It's also a good point too that I think one
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: topic that we've continually brought up throughout campus, the ability
- 1:03:08Speaker 8: for these wide receivers to get separation. If you've seen that,
- 1:03:11Speaker 8: not there a little bit, not there.
- 1:03:15Speaker 7: We haven't seen that a lot.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: But you know, to Evan's point, if you can't get
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: separation in this drill, you can't get separation.
- 1:03:22Speaker 7: You know, take your bags and go home.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: WHOA, All right, we have to turn our cameras away
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: now because they're going into some more strategic X and
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: o's and some strategy.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't want that on camera.
- 1:03:33Speaker 7: So Paul Evan is ready to send guys packing round.
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: I know he's harsh. He's hard.
- 1:03:39Speaker 7: If you can't get open in one on ones as
- 1:03:41Speaker 7: a receiver at this level, then you're in trouble.
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: Right, What if the ball just keeps hitting you in
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: the hands and you can't catch it. And Juju's had
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: a couple of drops.
- 1:03:52Speaker 8: It sounds like a Juju or DeVante Parker. It's all
- 1:03:54Speaker 8: we saw last year.
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: I just tell you, you know, you see Born out
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: here are dancing around before practice, you know, you know,
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: as they were getting ready to warm up and stuff.
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: So I mean that tells me that he's probably going
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: to be ready physically at the start of the regular season.
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: I just don't I don't know if there's a spot.
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: I don't know if there's a spot for some of
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: those guys juju, but what well, that's it's it's I mean,
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: that's what everything is.
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: Everything in these camps, everything is, everything is everything. You
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: realize it from watching hard knocks that they're going to
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: go back and they're going to watch all these plays again,
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: and you know, it's what you know. I think early
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: on I would have said, oh, it's just you know,
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: one drop in a camp practice, but you realize all
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: this stuff counts to them, especially when you got what
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: twelve wide receivers and you know, every every drill it
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: counts for something. And some guys are making some plays
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: and other guys are are letting players.
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: Go back and it's you know, they used to ask
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: Belichick about this, and I'm sure eventually the last draft
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: is like, how much patience do you have with guys
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: you know, if they if they're not doing it right away,
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: how do you know that you're not giving up on
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: a guy too soon.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: It's a late bloomer. It's so tough.
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: Peppers sevens. Yeah, so this is interesting with Alex Austin
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: and Marco Wilson. Is the corners to start this one.
- 1:05:18Speaker 7: And those guys are opportunities.
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: Yeah, there's just this I think I said it yesterday.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: There's just there's been a lot of that stuff where
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: I think it's it's it's just really hard.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: To discern seven on sevens.
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: Yeah, seven on seven's.
- 1:05:32Speaker 7: Got Osborne, Paul, Henry Taekwon, Thornton hermandre right up for
- 1:05:41Speaker 7: that's so.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: So what they're doing is they're taking what they did
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: in the last drill and now they're putting seven guys
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: on the field instead of just a corner back and
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: the receivers seeing the sideline going down the sideline again,
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: these go routes back shoulders.
- 1:05:58Speaker 7: And that was a from the slot to Jalen Polk,
- 1:06:01Speaker 7: and the quarterbacks have got to put the ball up
- 1:06:03Speaker 7: higher for a guy like Jalen Pol because he's not
- 1:06:05Speaker 7: going to create a ton of separation on those You
- 1:06:07Speaker 7: gotta give him a chance to just go up and
- 1:06:10Speaker 7: get the ball. And a couple of these that we've seen,
- 1:06:13Speaker 7: the timing just hasn't been quite.
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: It's supposed to to. By and Bentley in the middle
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: of there set fires it in.
- 1:06:28Speaker 7: There to see that that's gonna be where Polk's.
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: Gonna win in my opinion, over the middle.
- 1:06:32Speaker 7: Yeah, he gets matched up on it's Isaiah Bolden there
- 1:06:35Speaker 7: in the slot and just runs a little uh you know,
- 1:06:37Speaker 7: return route and it gets open just quick off the line.
- 1:06:43Speaker 7: I mean, that's good for a guy like Drake May
- 1:06:44Speaker 7: who loves to throw across the middle.
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: That's good.
- 1:06:51Speaker 5: All right, What do we got that's too tight? Looks
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: like Juju and somebody who's being directed. Yeah, Juju and Rager,
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: Henry and Hooper Antonio Gibson getting some run in this.
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: So that's good.
- 1:07:07Speaker 7: Hooper, nice Hooper, nice win on Exable having a kind
- 1:07:11Speaker 7: of a rough rough here, all of a sudden.
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: Picking on him, picking on him, Drake time.
- 1:07:21Speaker 7: That's been a strong are for Jacoby Brissett.
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: A couple of completions, four reps, and now against Drake
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: we're putting in Jonathan Jones and Christians give the rookie
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: the hell So I like this, Yeah, me too, And
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: and Marcus Jones the rookie receivers Polk and Baker out there.
- 1:07:40Speaker 7: And isn't this the first one we've seen this because
- 1:07:42Speaker 7: usually he's getting the secondary guys.
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: Yeah, it's it's been a pretty good rotation Michael jumps
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: off that come on start and he's out, go run
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: a lap.
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: Go run a lap on Mike, But yeah, I have
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: a look at him. Just run a lot. It's Gibson
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: in there too, so he's starting to get a little
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: little run.
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: And then is that Pop Douglas just running Gassers there
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: down in the poor guy?
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: Coach?
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: When do I get to touch the ball? All right?
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: Back at it.
- 1:08:13Speaker 7: Marcus Jones versus Jayvon Baker on the outside, Oh yeah,
- 1:08:17Speaker 7: there you go again, a little slanted Jalen Polk over
- 1:08:20Speaker 7: the middle. That those are the that's gonna be him? Oh, Paul,
- 1:08:29Speaker 7: If that's well, you gotta have somebody to do that.
- 1:08:33Speaker 6: Yeah, Like I said, but I think I.
- 1:08:35Speaker 7: Think that's definitely giving Jacoby Myers honestly, that one did. Yeah,
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: just possession Chane Mover.
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: I don't know, I mean, you know, I look, I
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: think we'll have no time for three Yeah, I don't
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: for a first down.
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: I just yeah, okay, if it's third and one, yeah, okay, great.
- 1:08:55Speaker 7: Yep, right off the line that time I just throw.
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: Yeah. So my observation for three years now has not
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: changed on Marcus Jones. He chases a.
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: Lot he's really fast, but he's always chasing from behind. Yeah,
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: kJ Osborne got him right off the line on that one.
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:09:13Speaker 7: I don't think that he's an outside corner, and it
- 1:09:16Speaker 7: is for that reason and for the size obviously, but
- 1:09:19Speaker 7: I think he's been pretty competitive in the slot so
- 1:09:21Speaker 7: far in camp, but when you put him on the outside,
- 1:09:24Speaker 7: it's tough for him.
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: Well, right now they're playing with Jones Jonathan Jones in
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: the slot and Marcus on the outside. That's what they
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: were doing. A little They might banjo this one though,
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: so be stay tuned.
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: Oh good, good.
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: Good.
- 1:09:36Speaker 7: Yeah. I like the stacks that they run in this
- 1:09:38Speaker 7: offense though, it's yeah, those two receiver stacks, and.
- 1:09:42Speaker 5: Yeah, you missed them.
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: Didn't think he had Thornton dead. I think Thornton had
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: a step on Gonzales and he kind of hesitated. I'll
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: just say that.
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: I mean, I think we'll continue to break down ja
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: of Polk's game, but it's just involved, and I you know,
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: with some of the disappointing second round receivers and first
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: round receivers I've seen in my time here that can't
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: get consistently involved, don't really seem to be on the
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: quarterbacks radar. At the very least, it seems like Polk's
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: probably been the most targeted guy in these team drills
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: through you know, four days. For better or worse, it
- 1:10:23Speaker 5: hasn't all looked great, but it just seems like the
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: quarterbacks do look his way.
- 1:10:30Speaker 7: Yeah, I would agree with that. I mean, he said
- 1:10:32Speaker 7: the data would agree with you, just in terms of targets.
- 1:10:35Speaker 7: I just feel like I still feel the same way
- 1:10:37Speaker 7: about him as I did in the draft, which is
- 1:10:39Speaker 7: just just not dynamic. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: Like I'm not necessarily all the way on Paul's school
- 1:10:45Speaker 7: this side of the street either, but he's he's going
- 1:10:49Speaker 7: to be the chain mover. That's like what they want
- 1:10:51Speaker 7: him to be. But I just don't see a lot
- 1:10:54Speaker 7: of dynamic movements before the catch, you know, in terms
- 1:10:57Speaker 7: of downfield we're out running and after the catch. But
- 1:11:00Speaker 7: it doesn't mean he can't be a really steady possession
- 1:11:03Speaker 7: receiver in the league. It's just it's just not really
- 1:11:05Speaker 7: there to me.
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: Potential one hundred and a thousand guy.
- 1:11:09Speaker 7: Has the ceiling. Yeah, I think that that's sort of
- 1:11:11Speaker 7: what you're hoping, right is is that kind of production.
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: I'll take that.
- 1:11:15Speaker 5: I'll be interested to see what happens when Douglas and
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: Bourne are out there.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: That they those are the best two receivers and they
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: haven't they haven't taken a snap.
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: Yeah, so someone's got to get the ball through. Yeah,
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: And that's kind of the bonus of it right now.
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: You know, that's kind of the benefit of not having
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: those guys out there is that Poult's seen a lot
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: of action. I mean, he's getting a lot of reps
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: he's getting, you know, I think that's good.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: I think it's just a good thing. Sapp he's in now.
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: Oh he's third reps I've been more.
- 1:11:48Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: Yeah, that's kind of staring at down.
- 1:11:53Speaker 7: But under route to eighty six, Kaywon Baker.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: Big controversy that draws playing music throughout What do.
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: You think controversy? Someone upset about it.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: You know, some people like Bill would have never done that.
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: I like it because I recognize some of the songs.
- 1:12:18Speaker 7: And also every other team plays music throughout their practice, So.
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: I've never been to another team's practice, so I could
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: tell you.
- 1:12:27Speaker 8: Just from like being at the you know, Shrine Bowl
- 1:12:31Speaker 8: and just seeing how a different team operates their practice.
- 1:12:34Speaker 8: They play music throughout even going to other people's training
- 1:12:36Speaker 8: camps too.
- 1:12:37Speaker 7: You see that.
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: I like it, although not it's like white noise in
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: the back. I don't even really even notice it.
- 1:12:47Speaker 7: Also, this is not a boot camp. You don't need
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: to just people out here playing silence.
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: Well, they didn't play in silence.
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: They used to have loud music during team quick periods
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: every day of Belichick's tenure for twenty five years. Yeah,
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: but this is the difference here. Mayo has it throughout
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: practice right, not yet, not just during the team periods.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: Oh boy, okay zig when he thought he was gonna
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: zag z happy.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: To know one. Yah. See. This is the portion when
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: when people say, like, you know, this difference, I feel
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: like it drags in between reps and in between periods
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: a little bit more.
- 1:13:40Speaker 7: Yeah, this was something I thought all the way back
- 1:13:42Speaker 7: to the spring. Just gets a little bit monotonous at times,
- 1:13:47Speaker 7: like the pace of practice. It's a little bit slower,
- 1:13:50Speaker 7: I think a lot of the maybe a little bit
- 1:13:53Speaker 7: more teaching in between.
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: You know, there's a whole new offense.
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:13:58Speaker 7: Whereas with with Bill, he typically they they would save
- 1:14:03Speaker 7: that for after practice. They go back and watch the
- 1:14:05Speaker 7: film and correct things there, whereas here it seems like
- 1:14:08Speaker 7: they wrap then they kind of have a pause to
- 1:14:11Speaker 7: make sure that the coaches can get hands on and
- 1:14:14Speaker 7: say what they need to say, and then they go
- 1:14:15Speaker 7: on to the next one.
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: I like the complaining about music, though, Fred, that's a
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: new one. Oh yeahs crousing about music.
- 1:14:25Speaker 7: Eleven.
- 1:14:26Speaker 6: Darn that rock and roll.
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: Yeah back in the eleven's here no red zone. Maybe
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: they just assume they won't get there.
- 1:14:40Speaker 6: So yeah, nothing, no one, nothing nothing.
- 1:14:42Speaker 7: We do have that offensive line configuration that we were
- 1:14:45Speaker 7: talking about earlier.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: So eleven and eleven.
- 1:14:47Speaker 7: Now Caden Wallace at left tackle and set under center
- 1:14:50Speaker 7: at right.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: Big hole.
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: He gone, Yeah, except Christiano.
- 1:15:07Speaker 6: Well that's why I think he was gone.
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: Oh that's good, that's good stuff, said memories of Nego Collins.
- 1:15:15Speaker 5: It's like Marty Makus just having like, can I can
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: I just know Marty get out the field? He's like
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: he's wandering on. Can I can I get the calls?
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: Got a call? Can I get a call?
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: Here?
- 1:15:28Speaker 7: Uh?
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: Nice?
- 1:15:29Speaker 7: Bounced there by Remandre though what you want to see?
- 1:15:33Speaker 6: And it was a hole.
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: I was being sarcastic when I said he was gone,
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: But there was a there was a.
- 1:15:38Speaker 6: Hole that four five yards.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Defense collapsed in and the outside was wide open.
- 1:15:46Speaker 7: That one that was kind of the pace here is
- 1:15:50Speaker 7: not exactly.
- 1:15:52Speaker 6: That's Gibson that time.
- 1:15:54Speaker 7: So much for the pace, you know, Well, I think
- 1:15:57Speaker 7: one guy must have fought, think's over the top. One
- 1:16:02Speaker 7: guy obviously thought it was live, and the other guy was.
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: Like, he thinks it's a show.
- 1:16:06Speaker 7: David Andrews, David Andrews helmet came off there. Yeah, he
- 1:16:10Speaker 7: might have been in the middle of that.
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: That erupted quickly bad blood.
- 1:16:13Speaker 7: Before I would call that a krewfuffle. That wasn't I
- 1:16:18Speaker 7: would have tried.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: Quickly broken up.
- 1:16:22Speaker 7: I want to lay low.
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: We'll have to go to the streets.
- 1:16:25Speaker 7: For that video. Yeah, that was not just say the streets.
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: That was I love what I can't. It's like my
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: favorite line, I can't. No, it's not I can't even
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: it's I can't. I just I can't, I can't and
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: I won't and I shot thank you, I spring gun
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: all right?
- 1:16:52Speaker 7: Check down drop by was that remondra Kevin Harris, Vin.
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: Harris and it was it was a good foot over
- 1:17:04Speaker 5: his head, but.
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: Yeah, not much there.
- 1:17:11Speaker 5: Still first pass of this it's yeah, not much there,
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: a little high, a little drop, yeah, and a lot
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: of pressure on the passer with a booty and thorn
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: on the outside and juju me inside, lots of speed
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: of the slot here velgro Marcus Jones, Why does.
- 1:17:40Speaker 7: That happen to him over and over and over. He's
- 1:17:42Speaker 7: got no bursts, He's got no, he's got no juice juju.
- 1:17:47Speaker 8: It's like always bouncing off his chest, bouncing off his fingertips.
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: So that was I mean, just supposed to be a
- 1:17:52Speaker 5: quick bang, you know, him right off the lines, stepping
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: into a slant and then Marcus Jones was right there,
- 1:17:58Speaker 5: got a little hand in there too.
- 1:17:59Speaker 7: But got the wraps on them.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a good plaint just walking off slowly.
- 1:18:04Speaker 7: You feel bad for him, keep sitting on the ground
- 1:18:06Speaker 7: and he just can't get any he can't get any separation.
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: Under said with to Kobe here rep Number five.
- 1:18:22Speaker 7: About that. So that's von God really split sack and
- 1:18:29Speaker 7: yeah at a party at the quarterback on that one.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: So all the good feelings of those one on ones
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: are going away now that there's an actual rush.
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: Yeah, there was not much going.
- 1:18:40Speaker 7: Won his rep Clean Dietrich Wise the back was there,
- 1:18:44Speaker 7: but Antonio Gibson was more of a speed bump.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: I know they're not in pads, but has anyone watched
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: the line in you know how much contact there is
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: going on between D line and O line and.
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: And you know if this is a fair fight, I
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: don't know.
- 1:18:59Speaker 7: Definitely favors the I feel like it will.
- 1:19:00Speaker 8: It will never be a fair fight, Fred, because this
- 1:19:03Speaker 8: defensive line has so much continuity in chemistry that the
- 1:19:06Speaker 8: offensive line just doesn't happen.
- 1:19:08Speaker 7: Yeah, I just I mean, it's never a fair fight
- 1:19:12Speaker 7: at this point because it's basically like trying to guard
- 1:19:15Speaker 7: somebody in basketball, Like you're just shuffling your feet and
- 1:19:18Speaker 7: trying to stay in front of people, whereas you know,
- 1:19:22Speaker 7: there's really no finishing.
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: The blox or something to be said for the guy
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: who has the good footwork that can.
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: So that's what I think it was. I think it
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: was Anderson. There might have been Calvin Anderson who said,
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: you know, we really like these because we know if
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: we can do well protecting in this situation, it's going
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: to be easier, right, it can actually hit right.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: Like I'm sure the great ones still did well in
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: this situation.
- 1:19:48Speaker 7: Absolutely, Yeah, got Calvin Anderson at left and Viderian Lowe
- 1:19:52Speaker 7: had right tackle. Now, so that seems to be like
- 1:19:55Speaker 7: the twosomes, you know, who goes where is maybe.
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: A little bit so who's the interior three?
- 1:20:02Speaker 7: The interior three we have Nick Leverett center for Michael Jordan,
- 1:20:09Speaker 7: and this.
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: Center is fifty one. Yeah, fifty one, sixty four to
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: the right and seventy four is that I think so?
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, so sixty four was to the right or left.
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: That's right guard, right guard? Okay, right guard?
- 1:20:23Speaker 6: Thanks guy, you.
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: Got to develop that December depth. There you go.
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: And what was that play that I missed a little
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: out to jam Oh I did see it? Yeah, oh
- 1:20:32Speaker 5: up in his now, Paul, it was average place extra
- 1:20:36Speaker 5: every point too.
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: Drake made had threeload.
- 1:20:43Speaker 7: I didn't like it.
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: I can't stand it running again.
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: May Yeah, that's kind of funny time when we never
- 1:20:58Speaker 5: seen he didn't really seem like he's even in the
- 1:21:00Speaker 5: mix really at all.
- 1:21:01Speaker 9: Huh.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: No traded for him last year.
- 1:21:04Speaker 7: Seemed like, oh, definitely seems like the human ass Darien Lowead.
- 1:21:09Speaker 7: Somebody looks like jumping around, looks like sixty four sixty
- 1:21:12Speaker 7: four Michael Jordan right.
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: No, I think is that Yeah, Marry, I can't remember
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: which one. I think seventy four is Jordan sixty Layden
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: Robinson the rookie. Yeah, he's on his way in a lap.
- 1:21:30Speaker 7: I always get sixty four and seventy four messed it up. Yeah,
- 1:21:33Speaker 7: that's part that needs to be fastest.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: But okay asking plate, but uh, defender was right, so
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: absolutely absolutely fact fred Sack on that play.
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: But Baker was wide open. Yeah yep. So you're saying
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: he's got to get rid.
- 1:21:48Speaker 6: Of that ball.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: No, no, no, I'm saying Baker gets open.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I've been watching for. I haven't really
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: watched the line.
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: I've been watching guys like Juju off the line and
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: which one of these guys have uh enough shimmy and
- 1:22:01Speaker 5: shake to get away from press coverage.
- 1:22:04Speaker 7: I'm impressed by Javon Baker. He's got some he's got
- 1:22:08Speaker 7: some twitch, he's got separation ability, and that's what they need.
- 1:22:14Speaker 5: Definitely more active day for him, just between the one
- 1:22:16Speaker 5: on ones and you know, even just this catch. I
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: haven't seen a lot of him so far, especially not on.
- 1:22:24Speaker 7: The Osborne so well, not a whole lot going.
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: Down by separation there either a lot of a lot
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: of wolf.
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: That's my Alex Austin on the past, Alex Austin breaking
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: up on k.
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: I think he's a second too slow getting rid of
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: it right right now, it's got to get rid of
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: that ball.
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: So the other thing that's a little different about this team,
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: period is that the whole team is over on the
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: the right fields.
- 1:23:01Speaker 7: Yeah. Yeah, you have the two fields going at once, right.
- 1:23:04Speaker 7: I think that one on one period might have replaced
- 1:23:06Speaker 7: the YEP.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: And I just want to remind everyone that Bridgetone is
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: the official tire of the New England Patriots and proud
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: partner with Sullivan Tire, New England's headquarters for quality Bridgetone Tires.
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: Visit Sullivantire dot com to find a location near you.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: Kazuka Joe's in at his first pass batted down.
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: And he just had Dakway Jackson's life ended on a
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: slant that I think Jilani Tovai might have really done
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: some damage in a live situation.
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: Listen, you know the offense is having its struggles today,
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: but remember they're going up against the top five defense,
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: all right.
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: I think it's top two, top one. Let's call it
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: what it is. Melton back to pass pressure everywhere.
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and an actual tackle and now we've got some fun,
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: a little skirmish.
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: It's a fun.
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: Yeah, let's not hit each other that hard. We don't
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: have pads on. Mill went to offense, took offense at that.
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: Anyone take a lap ever in this camp. Yeah, he
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: really took a lap. Yeah, he came all away.
- 1:24:11Speaker 6: He didn't. I think Mafi took his place.
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: I haven't clocked one yet.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: Yeah, we just saw one.
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: We didn't.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: That was on that movement penalty.
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: Well no singing, No, shouldn't do that. But like it's
- 1:24:32Speaker 5: gonna get flagg because you're you're hitting it pitch perfect Milton.
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: Milton flushed out of the pocket and well covered.
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: He's gonna just run out.
- 1:24:41Speaker 7: They banjoed that one. Yeah, there you go. The left
- 1:24:44Speaker 7: hand side. They had two under routes and they switched
- 1:24:47Speaker 7: him in.
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: I wish they'd tell him, like when the play's dead,
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: they just throw it as far as you can, just
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: for and then do a back for. Just throw as
- 1:24:52Speaker 5: far as you can, like nothing there set a throat away,
- 1:24:55Speaker 5: watch it.
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: And that's it. No Super Bailey's appy today.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: Yeah, trying to get eyes on Van Pelt to see
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: what his reaction is.
- 1:25:04Speaker 5: It's like he's taking a drink right now. Well, it's
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: uh off.
- 1:25:11Speaker 7: To more positional work.
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: I mean really, the the little outroutes from May to
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: Polk was probably in my mind when the only plays
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: the oxygute, the offense really at least passing played it,
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: it looked like in.
- 1:25:25Speaker 7: Time kind of I thought the crossing route to Javon
- 1:25:27Speaker 7: Baker was pretty much on time. Yeah, you know, they
- 1:25:29Speaker 7: ran a little uh stack on the right hand side,
- 1:25:32Speaker 7: and they're supposed to create that that traffic and that's
- 1:25:35Speaker 7: not gonna hit like instantly. You know, that play takes it.
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: All right, so that will take it.
- 1:25:40Speaker 7: But uh yeah, those are the two that that I
- 1:25:42Speaker 7: would highlight in that eleven's period. It's good to see,
- 1:25:47Speaker 7: you know, all jokes aside, like Jalen Polk those outs,
- 1:25:51Speaker 7: the slants, like that's gonna be his game. Javon Baker
- 1:25:54Speaker 7: is gonna be a little deeper down the field. And
- 1:25:56Speaker 7: it kind of felt like on those back to back
- 1:25:58Speaker 7: reps we got a little snapshott, Yeah, doing the leveraging
- 1:26:04Speaker 7: open field tackling drill. Now one guy chasing and one
- 1:26:09Speaker 7: guy chasing him. You know, trying to tackle him in
- 1:26:13Speaker 7: the open field. It's good practice.
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: Hang out of that ball.
- 1:26:19Speaker 7: Yeah, last year Pop Douglas fumbled the guy catching him
- 1:26:22Speaker 7: from behind, and he knew that had to Irk Bill
- 1:26:25Speaker 7: because that's what they do, that drill every practice.
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: Lot of security and he never played again.
- 1:26:37Speaker 7: I'm interested. What are you guys stance on that.
- 1:26:39Speaker 8: You know, if if a guy fumbles in a game,
- 1:26:42Speaker 8: do you want to put him back out there in
- 1:26:44Speaker 8: the same way that put Drake May back out there
- 1:26:46Speaker 8: after an interception?
- 1:26:47Speaker 4: Yes? I do?
- 1:26:47Speaker 7: Or do you think let's send him one or two
- 1:26:49Speaker 7: games and then we'll put him back out there.
- 1:26:51Speaker 4: No. I like getting guys back out there now if
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: it becomes a habit, and then that's different than Yeah,
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: you know, you got to have some you know, ramifications
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: for for doing it incorrectly. But like for Andre Stevenson
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: fumbled in his first game, you know, with the game
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: on the line. Oh no, actually his wasn't on me.
- 1:27:09Speaker 4: But he fumbled in his first game and then we
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: didn't really see him for the rest of the month
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: of September, right, Yeah, bugged me. Yeah. The lesser you
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: know extent with Douglas last year, well, that's one thing
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: I used to strongly disagree with Bill about.
- 1:27:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I think any coach has to have
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: a philosophy about how stringing you're going to be with
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: younger players, because younger players are going to make mistakes,
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: but you don't want to get them into a place
- 1:27:34Speaker 5: where they're afraid to make mistakes, and you got to
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: be tougher on veterans that you know.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: No, I think Bill would argue that for the young player,
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: I do want them to be afraid to make mistakes,
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: because you saw, you know, we had those behind the
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: scenes cameras sometimes in meetings and you'd hear Bill say,
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: don't be that guy that loses the game. Don't be
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: the guy that ruins it for the rest of your team.
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: And I think he did coach out of fear when
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: it came to turnovers.
- 1:28:02Speaker 8: I just I don't want it to be a situation where,
- 1:28:05Speaker 8: you know, maybe Drake May goes out and makes an interception,
- 1:28:08Speaker 8: and then you pull them and put you back in
- 1:28:10Speaker 8: and then you don't see Drake May again.
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: To the well, certain guys, I don't think they do that.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: I don't think even Bill would have done that if
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: he was in a position with an.
- 1:28:18Speaker 4: Overall third pick to do that.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: I think he did it with the younger guys who
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: there were other guys to replace him. Yeah, but yeah,
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: I mean Bill was all about the turnovers, all about
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: the turnovers.
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: Don't beat yourself, do not beat yourself.
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: Well, I mean, and it's crazy to think too. I mean,
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: that's got to It had to be pounded into mac
- 1:28:41Speaker 5: Jones's head. And then by his last year I was
- 1:28:43Speaker 5: turnover city.
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: Because he was scrambled eggs by that.
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:28:48Speaker 6: No, but I know Mike's point too.
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: It's like you, yeah, you're doing it out of fear
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: and all that, and that's and that's one thing. But
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: are you're taking away a guy's ability because now they're
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: not playing up to their capability because all they worried
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: about is holding onto the ball and they are not
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: making any place.
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: Yeah, that's you know, you just you want to get
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: to a place where players can play loose and play
- 1:29:11Speaker 5: fast and they're not thinking about mistakes or you know,
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: some special teams.
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: What what.
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: I think you know, going back, remember old friend running
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: back Stephen Ridley. Yes, I mean he was a good player,
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: but I think he turned the ball over so much
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: that his and he was afraid to do that again.
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: His running style changed.
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: So that's hurt him. That needed to lose playing time
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: because he habitually fumbled, you know, as opposed to reminder
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: receivens of putting on the ground once. All right, so
- 1:29:50Speaker 4: what do we got here? Punt? I would say, they're
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: working on the punt team.
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: Yes, let's let's.
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: Let people know who's back there, return and rager.
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: We got we got two three Douglas, one Osborne, Marcus
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: Jones and Jalen Polk.
- 1:30:14Speaker 7: Got to fight the sun on this one. But this
- 1:30:16Speaker 7: is the first time I feel like that they've done
- 1:30:18Speaker 7: special teams.
- 1:30:19Speaker 4: Yeah, they've done some technique work, but this is actual
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: team special teams and team and and and I think
- 1:30:27Speaker 4: it's probably worth noting who's the gunners because Matthew Slater
- 1:30:31Speaker 4: is no longer wearing their uniform anymore. He's playing.
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: Is he coaching out there?
- 1:30:39Speaker 5: Then he's say we're going without gunners. Didn't want they
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: didn't want to tell you, dude.
- 1:30:44Speaker 7: Yeah, I believe Matthew Slater is wearing a cut off
- 1:30:47Speaker 7: could he with the bucket hat?
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: Standing right next to.
- 1:30:54Speaker 7: That's Jeremy Springer, right, So I think Jerry Jerry, and
- 1:30:59Speaker 7: then here's Douglas again.
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: Return of them.
- 1:31:01Speaker 8: So it's interesting to see like what they choose for
- 1:31:04Speaker 8: Pop Douglas to participate in and then what they choose.
- 1:31:06Speaker 7: To pull him out of.
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: Nothing competitive, no team period. I mean, could it be
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: like they the hand is okay to catch the ball,
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: but they don't want to like hit a helmet or something.
- 1:31:17Speaker 4: And then Burton, I don't know, I'm still I know,
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: no matter what, the catching that punt doesn't make it.
- 1:31:22Speaker 6: Yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense to make.
- 1:31:24Speaker 8: And I want to go back to to Jalen Rager,
- 1:31:26Speaker 8: you know, catching punts before him. I think Jalen Riger
- 1:31:29Speaker 8: his ability to play special teams and then what he's
- 1:31:31Speaker 8: showing us on offense as well the past couple of
- 1:31:33Speaker 8: days is going to give him a strong chance to
- 1:31:35Speaker 8: make their astar.
- 1:31:36Speaker 4: I'd put him in the you know, after whatever you
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: want to call it.
- 1:31:39Speaker 5: I mean, after ye what we saw from him in
- 1:31:41Speaker 5: the spring, it's just you know, he's he's showing up,
- 1:31:43Speaker 5: and that's I think all you can really ask. It's, hey,
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: where's this guy been? I haven't seen him make any
- 1:31:47Speaker 5: catches like you yeah, you know, throwing the ball to him,
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: he's catching it. I don't know he looks. I mean
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: he's moving pretty well. Yeah, and I will say a
- 1:31:54Speaker 5: number of bombs Barrenger Bomber.
- 1:31:57Speaker 7: Does when the bads come on. Yeah, he's a fast
- 1:31:59Speaker 7: received and without pass those guys typically are are really good.
- 1:32:04Speaker 7: I mean, even Taekwan's had his moments and these practices.
- 1:32:06Speaker 7: But I'm kind of with Paul, I guess a little
- 1:32:09Speaker 7: bit that you know, Marcus Jones should be the primary
- 1:32:12Speaker 7: return guy. Yeah, and both kickoffs and punts. But I
- 1:32:15Speaker 7: think there is a role for Rager on kickoff return.
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: Yeah. And you made that point the other day about
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: there's probably gonna be two guys back. Yeah, so yep, probably.
- 1:32:24Speaker 7: Need to and I think too.
- 1:32:25Speaker 8: I mean not saying that Marcus Jones is gonna get
- 1:32:27Speaker 8: injured again, but injuries happened and he was out pretty
- 1:32:29Speaker 8: much a majority of last year, and so that prevented
- 1:32:32Speaker 8: that created an opportunity for other guys to step up
- 1:32:34Speaker 8: and play in that role.
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: Yep. One thing we know for certain, there will be injuries.
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: It is interesting to me though, they got Polk returning
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: punts like yeah.
- 1:32:48Speaker 7: I do without him doing that, I can see that
- 1:32:50Speaker 7: as like it wasn't they threw back there in years ago.
- 1:32:54Speaker 7: When you every once in a while when there's like
- 1:32:56Speaker 7: a rash of injuries and on the returners, you know,
- 1:32:59Speaker 7: you get these guys ready to at least get a feel.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: For it in the summertime, and then and then you
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: say during the season, well, he returned punts during training camp,
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: so he's got a little experience right.
- 1:33:08Speaker 7: Right right, and he's sure handed and he you know,
- 1:33:11Speaker 7: he's got good hands and all that, but he's just
- 1:33:13Speaker 7: not going to add any yards, I don't.
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: Think, certainly not the jitterbugged Marcus.
- 1:33:22Speaker 7: Yeah, same thing with Osbourne, you know, the same kind
- 1:33:24Speaker 7: of idea.
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: Christian Kolfax, California thinks that Pope reminds him of Keenan Allen.
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: I wish.
- 1:33:31Speaker 7: I think Keenan Allen's a little bit more explosive, a
- 1:33:34Speaker 7: little more dynamic route runner. I still think Tyler Boyd
- 1:33:38Speaker 7: Jacobe Myers, like those are the two guys that stand
- 1:33:40Speaker 7: out to me with him. I think that, you know,
- 1:33:43Speaker 7: the ceiling would be someone in a Keenan Allen mold,
- 1:33:45Speaker 7: But that's.
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: Just so smooth, and I don't know, he's just he's
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: like a route technician.
- 1:33:52Speaker 7: Yeah, and he's here.
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: Yeah, like Polk feels more like a physical See.
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: What they're doing on that far field with the ball,
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: uh loose ball trying to scoop it toward a teammate.
- 1:34:04Speaker 4: Oh yeah, was that.
- 1:34:06Speaker 7: Kind of like down They're not using a football, they're
- 1:34:10Speaker 7: using like a like a volleyball.
- 1:34:13Speaker 8: I really do not want her.
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: Here comes that shade again.
- 1:34:21Speaker 4: Good nice.
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: Quarterbacks are still working on their footwork, kind of rolling
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: out its hitting a target.
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: Lineman just down there working on lineman dance.
- 1:34:47Speaker 7: Yeah, a lot of a lot of bootlegs here for
- 1:34:51Speaker 7: the quarterbacks, both to their arm side and to their
- 1:34:55Speaker 7: non arm side, the non arm side ones are It's
- 1:35:01Speaker 7: gonna be fun with Drake May.
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: All right, that's the end of this period.
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: It does get interesting with me though, like when the
- 1:35:08Speaker 5: plays break down and it's you know a lot of
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: guys just chuck it away, but like he doesn't seem
- 1:35:13Speaker 5: afraid to just you know, wing it, sidearm it.
- 1:35:17Speaker 7: Chimp up in the air. Like I feel like I've
- 1:35:19Speaker 7: said this a thousand times, but we were not seeing
- 1:35:22Speaker 7: that kind of stuff in practice because that's not what
- 1:35:24Speaker 7: they want him to do in practice. And that's when
- 1:35:27Speaker 7: it really you know, maybe in the preseason games or something.
- 1:35:29Speaker 7: There's a whole other dimension to his game that I
- 1:35:31Speaker 7: feel like we just haven't seen a ton of, because.
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: It's been interesting if you could ask him that yesterday
- 1:35:36Speaker 4: instead of finding out about signing autographs in the atmosphere.
- 1:35:40Speaker 7: Yeah, so many of his highlights are just you.
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: Know, critical of the media.
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: Paul I was in the middle of a question and
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: he was whisked away.
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: Oh, I see.
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: We're getting a team period here or some.
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: Sort of maybe maybe yeah, but again, no no red
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: zone at all.
- 1:36:03Speaker 7: Well maybe the idea what that is is you start
- 1:36:07Speaker 7: to when you put the pads on, now you can
- 1:36:09Speaker 7: actually run goal line. That was always a weird thing
- 1:36:12Speaker 7: to me about them starting in the red zone without pads,
- 1:36:14Speaker 7: was like you're not running them, like you can't run
- 1:36:16Speaker 7: the ball, right.
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: So it's they're just selling out for the past.
- 1:36:19Speaker 7: Yeah, and it's like they're tracking team periods where they're
- 1:36:23Speaker 7: two for eleven or something terrible. Granted that was warranted
- 1:36:28Speaker 7: the last couple of years.
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: All right, we're set on seven and seven of the two.
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: Pop.
- 1:36:37Speaker 8: Uh.
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: It looks like they're using sticks and yard markers on
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: this one. So they're going to move the ball as
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: the play dictates.
- 1:36:51Speaker 7: As these are. They're in third down right now, so
- 1:36:53Speaker 7: these are that's like third and short type of situational.
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: Yep, ye build toward eleven and eleven doing the same.
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: So yeah, one two Rager.
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: Gibson and the plays broke.
- 1:37:12Speaker 7: Yeah, nobody opened.
- 1:37:12Speaker 4: Really good coverage on that one. This is like a
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: day late and short, but that was really good coverage
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: by everybody.
- 1:37:19Speaker 7: He did catch it, though, It's a nice catch. Austin
- 1:37:21Speaker 7: Hooper got behind Kyle Duggar. I think Kyle Duggar jumped
- 1:37:24Speaker 7: around underneath just thinking they're going to the sticks. To
- 1:37:28Speaker 7: Paul's point, it took seventeen years for to make that round.
- 1:37:30Speaker 4: It was a really nice catch though by Hooper. Yep,
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: that was not an easy ball to track. Good protection,
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: you know for a tight end too. Not used to
- 1:37:37Speaker 4: being you know, forty plus yards downfield tracking balls over
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: your shoulder.
- 1:37:44Speaker 5: Speaking of which, I saw my Kasiki made a catch
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: in Bengals camp.
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: I was reminded last year a couple of catches as
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: he made, they never really kind of panned out.
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: Uh also saw the Chargers offensive line coach just gushing
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: about Joel Lolt.
- 1:38:03Speaker 7: They're gonna play my right tackle.
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:38:06Speaker 8: Did you see that video of the cold offensive line
- 1:38:08Speaker 8: that went viral? No, for them like walking out to practice,
- 1:38:11Speaker 8: they like walked out together in a group, like slow motion.
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: It was.
- 1:38:15Speaker 7: It was pretty interesting out to Hunter Henry there simultaneous catch.
- 1:38:20Speaker 7: They're kind of arguing if Dugger had it or if
- 1:38:23Speaker 7: to the receiver. Yeah, it was a little behind by
- 1:38:26Speaker 7: Coby Brissette.
- 1:38:28Speaker 4: Yeah, who was it Dugger? Yep?
- 1:38:30Speaker 7: Yeah, good coverage by Dugger, I thought.
- 1:38:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the coverage has been pretty good in
- 1:38:45Speaker 4: the sevens.
- 1:38:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I agree.
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: Usually it's the other way around. You see it as
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: you're getting.
- 1:38:50Speaker 7: Openings Khan Boody or is that that's a little bit
- 1:38:55Speaker 7: more for Booty two tight ends. Oh, it's good covered.
- 1:39:05Speaker 4: Rakon he looking for a flag not today.
- 1:39:10Speaker 7: That's a good player.
- 1:39:13Speaker 4: It's like Ray wond Mill and another guy that like
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: you just feel like, Hea, he's gonna make the team.
- 1:39:17Speaker 5: I don't know what he's gonna do, but he's gonna
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: be one of those special teams guys too, like like
- 1:39:22Speaker 5: mac Wilson. But they seem to love him. I mean,
- 1:39:24Speaker 5: was he's only his third contract with the team. He's
- 1:39:27Speaker 5: got more contracts than games played.
- 1:39:28Speaker 7: I don't absolutely how that works, but like I feel
- 1:39:32Speaker 7: like they kept signing him to one year deals and
- 1:39:34Speaker 7: they had to sign him to another one year deal, right, and.
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: Then he's like like the team's financial advisor.
- 1:39:40Speaker 7: In the he does a lot of got Javon Baker
- 1:39:42Speaker 7: down here.
- 1:39:44Speaker 6: See see what he did?
- 1:39:46Speaker 10: He's sorry under route to k j Osborne, Drake May,
- 1:39:59Speaker 10: Drake May. It's like Polk is coming in for Juju
- 1:40:02Speaker 10: nas more. I like how they get the rookies paired
- 1:40:06Speaker 10: up now you know they got Polk and Baker with
- 1:40:09Speaker 10: with Drake May.
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: So Mitchell Wilcox is not considered to be an inline blocker, right,
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: I would.
- 1:40:19Speaker 7: Say that's more of his his.
- 1:40:21Speaker 4: Game, okay, because he does not get open unless unless
- 1:40:25Speaker 4: he's uncovered. There was another death sentence Tavai again.
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: Yeah, May trying to thread the need a little behind
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: the receiver should have been caught though.
- 1:40:36Speaker 7: Through it behind him on purpose. I think because Giovanni
- 1:40:38Speaker 7: DeFi was about to.
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: He was he would have got killed in a real game.
- 1:40:42Speaker 6: Yeah that was that Gibson.
- 1:40:46Speaker 7: Uh no, it is kJ Osborne.
- 1:40:50Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, well thank you to Drake May for not
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: putting that out in front of him family thanks.
- 1:41:00Speaker 4: To rights body and rayer.
- 1:41:09Speaker 7: Yep, Michael Peedaway, there you go.
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: Well shall across to Michael peed Away, that's the play
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: they ran a couple of days ago to jaheem Bell
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: that I just missed, like connecting.
- 1:41:26Speaker 5: Kind of the Johnny the John New route. Let me
- 1:41:31Speaker 5: have done that the John Why training CAMPAGNT. My apologies
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: makes here last year two years ago, two years ago,
- 1:41:42Speaker 5: two years John two.
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: Years ago.
- 1:41:46Speaker 7: Is in Miami now, yeah, Atlanta.
- 1:41:50Speaker 6: They had a good year in Atlanta last.
- 1:41:52Speaker 7: Yeah, I think I think he is Miami.
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:41:57Speaker 7: See this is you know, it's not much to do
- 1:42:00Speaker 7: in this type of drill, but that's gonna be something
- 1:42:02Speaker 7: that they're gonna have to start scripting. Like how when
- 1:42:05Speaker 7: he breaks the pocket and the play breaks down, where
- 1:42:07Speaker 7: are you guys going, because you know, like in Kansas City,
- 1:42:12Speaker 7: they they have it all mapped out that when my
- 1:42:14Speaker 7: homes breaks contained, you know, this is where our rules are.
- 1:42:17Speaker 7: This is where everybody's gonna go.
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: Joe Milton get something new. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's uh.
- 1:42:27Speaker 2: I would say the offense has not had a good
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: day overall.
- 1:42:30Speaker 7: Yeah, I would agree.
- 1:42:32Speaker 4: Now just a couple of pockets of place here and there. Yeah,
- 1:42:46Speaker 4: can't do that. That's too late, buddy.
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:42:50Speaker 7: Yeah, So the Jayvon Baker is running across or he
- 1:42:53Speaker 7: did it, did the right thing to sit it down
- 1:42:54Speaker 7: against the zone coverage, but Joe Milton threw way too late.
- 1:42:59Speaker 5: And it's interesting if he stared him down through it.
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: He just told everybody, I'm gonna throw it now right
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: over here, and that's your guy, right, Uh?
- 1:43:08Speaker 5: Is that Joe Giles Harris? Of course not your guy.
- 1:43:12Speaker 5: Don't even thrown Was that your guy?
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: My guy? I think it's your guy. H two four
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: your guy?
- 1:43:22Speaker 7: Rough seventh period here for all three quarterbacks. Yeah, gotta hit.
- 1:43:31Speaker 7: Just a tough rhythm, you know. That's and that's what
- 1:43:33Speaker 7: I feel like with with Milton's.
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: You know, to Tamara's point, the short throws, it's just
- 1:43:37Speaker 5: it's like they don't have rhythm because he throws them hard.
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: Like some of these guys.
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: When you see a short passing rhythm, it's just you
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: feel it, you know, it's he drops back, he hits,
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: he delivers the balls at a good pace and it's right.
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: And with his it's it feels choppy in a different
- 1:43:50Speaker 5: way than it did with Cam Newton or Kim Newton.
- 1:43:52Speaker 5: It just felt like it was always late, and he
- 1:43:53Speaker 5: tried to make up with it, make up for it
- 1:43:55Speaker 5: with with putting mustard on the on the throw, but
- 1:43:58Speaker 5: I don't know. Sometimes with these it just feels like
- 1:44:00Speaker 5: Builton kind of just loses the timing of the play.
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: Reset and huddle up again here. This is not a
- 1:44:07Speaker 4: quality end to the period.
- 1:44:10Speaker 7: Here still about thirty twenty five minutes, so.
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: It's probably gonna be another elevens, I would agree. Did
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: they do two each?
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: Yeah, they won't end here.
- 1:44:23Speaker 7: A third down you.
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: Re huddled and still wind up wrong.
- 1:44:26Speaker 5: David Wallace, come on, bra, give you a credit though
- 1:44:30Speaker 5: you got open write a nice.
- 1:44:32Speaker 7: Out route and out to eighty seven.
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: Mitchell Wilcox, it's been.
- 1:44:37Speaker 7: Involved, Mitchell Wilcox. I don't know what to make of it. Yeah,
- 1:44:43Speaker 7: he is somebody that I called his name more than
- 1:44:47Speaker 7: we've called Jamee Bell's name, which I don't love to
- 1:44:50Speaker 7: hear that.
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: But no, Gen bellspin am I.
- 1:44:52Speaker 2: It comes to the old line from the backfield getting
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: ready to go eleven out of eleven here.
- 1:44:59Speaker 7: He's listened six four two fifty, so that sounds like
- 1:45:01Speaker 7: a guy that should be able to throw his weight
- 1:45:03Speaker 7: around a little bit. Yeah, headway again.
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that arm is talented. Yeah, I'm Joezuka, Joe.
- 1:45:24Speaker 7: You can just tell that they hit both him and
- 1:45:27Speaker 7: Drake may love throwing out, you know, because it's just
- 1:45:30Speaker 7: it's easy to read, and they got the arm to
- 1:45:32Speaker 7: get it out there, so it's no hesitation.
- 1:45:35Speaker 6: Easy to read, easy to enjoy.
- 1:45:37Speaker 8: Right, what do you guys make of Zabie not getting
- 1:45:40Speaker 8: reps in some of these periods.
- 1:45:42Speaker 7: Yeah, he did get He got a couple of sevens
- 1:45:45Speaker 7: right early.
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: Seven. We have seen him been out.
- 1:45:49Speaker 7: It has been passed over since.
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: I think the last time we saw him was that
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: past where the guy zigged and he thought he's gonna zag.
- 1:45:58Speaker 7: Yeah, that was since we have not.
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I think he's probably gonna get a well,
- 1:46:03Speaker 4: I don't know, we'll see. He gets the third one
- 1:46:06Speaker 4: of the team, so they split it up that way.
- 1:46:09Speaker 6: Maybe there's Milton.
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: You can get a sevens on the first sevens and
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: then he got the third reps on the team and
- 1:46:15Speaker 4: third rep on this sevens the second one. Yeah, it's
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: interesting to me.
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: Continue to see key on White a lot of just
- 1:46:24Speaker 5: early down reps as an outside linebacker. Yeah, a little
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: bit interesting to me, just that, you know, Anthrety Jennings
- 1:46:31Speaker 5: not really sniffing any of that.
- 1:46:33Speaker 2: All right, what's our offensive line look like?
- 1:46:36Speaker 7: Same as it's been all Practica Rager Paul Cooper Osborne
- 1:46:44Speaker 7: with Hermandre quarterback on her center.
- 1:46:46Speaker 4: Play action.
- 1:46:48Speaker 7: There it is.
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: There we go.
- 1:46:54Speaker 7: To Austin Hooper, Hooper down the middle, down the scene.
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: Nice play. Judan shot a gap and got picked up.
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: It's probably the best player of the day so far,
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: one of the best of his camp.
- 1:47:15Speaker 4: My whole like that looked like a play.
- 1:47:17Speaker 7: Yeah, Austin Hooper has been had a couple of nice days.
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: He's solid.
- 1:47:24Speaker 7: Henry now Hooper called personnel nub formation, guys. Nu formation
- 1:47:39Speaker 7: is just like kind of a general football term. I
- 1:47:43Speaker 7: don't want to give away too much. Google nub formation
- 1:47:47Speaker 7: and figure it out and u B. But you didn't
- 1:47:52Speaker 7: hear from me, so the case silent. So that was
- 1:47:55Speaker 7: a trap run there, called trap play and they they
- 1:47:58Speaker 7: will run those, uh you know, to kind of counter
- 1:48:01Speaker 7: off of all the zone stuff. And I thought that
- 1:48:04Speaker 7: hit pretty well City.
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: So I think Jalen Hawkins believes that he made the
- 1:48:09Speaker 4: tackle with the line of scrimmage. Okay, by the way,
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: look I don't know if that's true. I mean, he
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: just was going like he was celebrating looking at that
- 1:48:17Speaker 4: pole catch from a couple of days ago.
- 1:48:19Speaker 7: What we wanted definitely would have been a sack. I
- 1:48:23Speaker 7: was when they when they put any the line and
- 1:48:28Speaker 7: the blunder, like if they run any sort of stunt
- 1:48:30Speaker 7: or blitz or something like that there there we're still
- 1:48:33Speaker 7: a work in progress. So Daniel Qualley is the one
- 1:48:36Speaker 7: getting the DAPs so looks like he was the one.
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: Scott Peter's right over to Katon Wallace talking to him
- 1:48:40Speaker 5: a little bit. So I have been back to that,
- 1:48:42Speaker 5: like you know, whether or not the run was successful.
- 1:48:45Speaker 5: Mike and I joke about this all the time in
- 1:48:48Speaker 5: these training camp practices. The defensive guy just go up
- 1:48:50Speaker 5: and they give you a little tap on the hips, right,
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: I'm not necessarily sure you had them.
- 1:48:56Speaker 7: You gotta get him to the ground. That's all different animal.
- 1:48:58Speaker 5: I think though, seeing that video a couple of days
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: ago Polk's catch, I do think Evan was right that
- 1:49:02Speaker 5: Jalen Hawkins, if he had wanted to in a real game,
- 1:49:04Speaker 5: probably would have sent you on Polkin the next two.
- 1:49:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I also think the pass could have been picked off.
- 1:49:09Speaker 7: I just also feel like in that respect, it's like
- 1:49:12Speaker 7: you don't really see safeties get to send guys into
- 1:49:14Speaker 7: next Tuesday anymore, because I think all the flags will
- 1:49:17Speaker 7: just start.
- 1:49:18Speaker 4: That's why I think it probably would have been picked up.
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: And I to me, the biggest thing for that was
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: listening to Drake May talk about the throw after practice. Yeah,
- 1:49:27Speaker 4: that was locked. He was not very complimentary of himself.
- 1:49:30Speaker 7: Yeah, he knew he short armed.
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: It was like they're in a hurry up, right, no
- 1:49:34Speaker 2: or no, I guess not.
- 1:49:36Speaker 7: A little sitting route to Taekwon thor And as a
- 1:49:39Speaker 7: that was a clean pocket, well done, not too.
- 1:49:50Speaker 4: Bad, little maybe a little better here, and he's yeah, yeah.
- 1:49:52Speaker 7: I'd say this is a little smoother. Yeah, got one pressure.
- 1:49:55Speaker 7: But yeah, Jalen Hawkins, I'm sorry, I'm not giving you
- 1:49:57Speaker 7: the benefit.
- 1:49:58Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, I mean I'm kind of honest. Ignoring the
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: run play, Yeah, I liked the play down the scene
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: to Hooper. I mean that that was a highlight to me.
- 1:50:08Speaker 4: You can only tell the running plays that we're going nowhere,
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: and that even that throw to Thornt, now like that
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: was a quick hitter.
- 1:50:17Speaker 7: There's nowhere to run on that play, no way to.
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: Run to baby high. Oh so you can sing, okay,
- 1:50:27Speaker 4: just because I'm all key, Because just because I don't
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: sing well, it doesn't mean I shouldn't be allowed to sing.
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: All right? The drake is in love the Drake.
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: Alex In Somerset said, you guys recently often refer to
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: some plays in training camp as that looked like an
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: NFL play, Like it's a rare occurrence.
- 1:50:48Speaker 6: It's a weird, weird thing that might only interest me.
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: I'm curious when Brady was that quarterback, did every play
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: in training camp look like an actual NFL player or
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: were there lulls in training camp as they iron things out?
- 1:51:01Speaker 4: So the reason why it became a thing in the
- 1:51:05Speaker 4: first place, like that's the origin of it, was whenever
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: somebody other than Brady was playing quarterback, how often it
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: looked like it looks like when Brady played quarterback, So
- 1:51:15Speaker 4: when Garoppolo was in there, or Ryan Mallett was in there,
- 1:51:19Speaker 4: or Rohan Davy whoever was in there when Brady was out,
- 1:51:23Speaker 4: how often did it look like a Patriots play?
- 1:51:25Speaker 6: Like it always looked like a Patriots play. When Brady
- 1:51:27Speaker 6: was in there for the most part.
- 1:51:29Speaker 7: He was pretty good. I heard Tom Brady. Yeah, he
- 1:51:34Speaker 7: had a big event here for him.
- 1:51:36Speaker 4: What was that?
- 1:51:37Speaker 7: Well, sit Jalen Regar and a nice side arm dropped
- 1:51:41Speaker 7: the platform.
- 1:51:42Speaker 4: I mean that one was like another one you just
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: never see where. It looked like he was just going
- 1:51:45Speaker 4: to throw it to the running back, but then instead
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: he just kind of turned and fired at him.
- 1:51:50Speaker 7: Ye wait tell you there was a no look.
- 1:51:53Speaker 4: Everybody was then, well, didn't need do that in like OTAs.
- 1:51:57Speaker 7: That was supposed to be a screen tight end screen.
- 1:52:00Speaker 7: I got blown up.
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: May had to throw that one into the ground.
- 1:52:06Speaker 7: He did did.
- 1:52:09Speaker 6: Yeah, and everybody lost their minds.
- 1:52:10Speaker 4: Then it was kind of cool, right, So now now
- 1:52:14Speaker 4: they're cool because we have a guy who does that.
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: They used to be ridiculous, stupid and overrated when Mahomes
- 1:52:19Speaker 4: said that. Now they're great. Oh you never hear people
- 1:52:22Speaker 4: make fun of Mahome.
- 1:52:23Speaker 6: So the way they gush.
- 1:52:24Speaker 4: Over Mahomes, Yeah they gush over right, you never heard that?
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: Yeah, they say it's great.
- 1:52:28Speaker 4: Okay, so no, no, no, no, people make fun never minds
- 1:52:32Speaker 4: who people make fun of the way they gosh because
- 1:52:37Speaker 4: Mahomes does these routine things and doesn't know. Look, but
- 1:52:42Speaker 4: now we have a guy who does those things, so
- 1:52:43Speaker 4: we'll be excited about it.
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: I thought we were jealous of Mahomes.
- 1:52:47Speaker 7: I am too.
- 1:52:50Speaker 5: Did you guys see the whole thing with the Raiders
- 1:52:51Speaker 5: where they have like a Kermit the Frog.
- 1:52:53Speaker 6: Yeah, I did see that, dude.
- 1:52:59Speaker 7: Why right to Mitchell Wilcox. There was a little bit
- 1:53:03Speaker 7: of separation there.
- 1:53:04Speaker 5: Yeah, that one got away from him. That was that
- 1:53:07Speaker 5: was a bad throw, And I agree you guy was
- 1:53:11Speaker 5: open eighty seven.
- 1:53:14Speaker 4: That sevensky now, yeah, just I.
- 1:53:17Speaker 7: Think when home stuff though this era, I mean, I
- 1:53:20Speaker 7: don't know John Elwayne Dan Marino might have been throwing
- 1:53:23Speaker 7: no look passes. I don't know. But I don't think
- 1:53:26Speaker 7: Matthew Stafford deserves the credit for venting to go. He
- 1:53:30Speaker 7: was the first one that started doing it in this era,
- 1:53:33Speaker 7: and then obviously Mahomes and and other guys have done
- 1:53:36Speaker 7: it now too. But Stafford and the Super Bowl still
- 1:53:39Speaker 7: is the best no look past I've ever seen. And
- 1:53:44Speaker 7: cut to guess who d Keshan Boody.
- 1:53:47Speaker 4: This ad.
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: Could have been a little bit more out front, but picking.
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: Good catch by Booty. Yeah, had to fight off.
- 1:53:58Speaker 5: Uh. John Joe, some secondary hands should be our last
- 1:54:04Speaker 5: play for the Drake.
- 1:54:05Speaker 7: Yeah, let them throw one deep, come on, cowk one guy.
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: Seems like they're doing Thornton's out there and cook one guy.
- 1:54:14Speaker 7: A decent amount of situational stuff here too, you know,
- 1:54:19Speaker 7: quick game, third and short.
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: Some guys with shorts, some guys with game pants, Paul,
- 1:54:24Speaker 2: Which would you choose if you.
- 1:54:25Speaker 4: Were out there? Shorts? Shorts?
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: Who loves the running of the Jewets, The running of
- 1:54:30Speaker 5: the Jewets. Well, you're not going to get a deep
- 1:54:34Speaker 5: ball there.
- 1:54:35Speaker 7: Kevin Harris. Nice job picking up that stunt though. They
- 1:54:38Speaker 7: picked that one up pretty decent. Not so Drake goes.
- 1:54:47Speaker 4: Three doing that.
- 1:54:48Speaker 5: Three for five sit route to really zaps getting some
- 1:54:53Speaker 5: chances here at the end.
- 1:54:54Speaker 4: Hey, every once in a.
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: While, I'm right, do you think in the know what
- 1:54:58Speaker 5: all tent? They're like, you know, they're just bad. It's
- 1:54:59Speaker 5: like he's third.
- 1:55:02Speaker 4: When they did seven on seven the first time, Yeah,
- 1:55:05Speaker 4: it was Brissett May Zappi. Yeah, And they did team
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: and it was Brissett May Milton. Then they did seven
- 1:55:13Speaker 4: on seven again and it stayed Preset May Milton. And
- 1:55:15Speaker 4: now they're going to another sevens. I mean another full
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: team and that oh bubble. So we're getting twenty nine
- 1:55:23Speaker 4: and there by a lot of a lot of Javon
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: Baker being open in this practice. So if you want
- 1:55:29Speaker 4: some good news on offense, I think that's the takeaway toy.
- 1:55:33Speaker 4: Uh is this is this?
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: Uh Terrell Jennings first kind of team action we've seen
- 1:55:37Speaker 5: him get. He's been a rehab guy, right, Yeah, that
- 1:55:39Speaker 5: sounds right. Yeah, so him getting in there. I think
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: I believe the Jennings family was listening to a previous episode,
- 1:55:47Speaker 5: so good news for them if they're still tuning in. Ah,
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: there's there's Tyrone Wheeley, a left tackle and who do
- 1:55:55Speaker 5: we got over on the other side?
- 1:55:56Speaker 4: Sixty four.
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: Juri Henry ah Slater family helping out with special teams.
- 1:56:08Speaker 4: Yo, and Terrell Jennings gets a carry. Oh he gone,
- 1:56:12Speaker 4: and he's gone. He could go all the way. Nice run.
- 1:56:16Speaker 4: This is stupid. You guys can tease me about this later.
- 1:56:19Speaker 4: But then he did kind of look fast on that.
- 1:56:21Speaker 5: Yeah, we haven't even seen him yet.
- 1:56:25Speaker 4: Now he's a big boy, right, like he's got some
- 1:56:27Speaker 4: decent size.
- 1:56:28Speaker 7: I believe.
- 1:56:30Speaker 5: Sounds right if I'm remembered for referring kicker friends are
- 1:56:38Speaker 5: just here down here working on looking on their social game.
- 1:56:44Speaker 5: Yeah right, scrolling.
- 1:56:48Speaker 9: Zappy Oh in.
- 1:57:03Speaker 5: Some crowd he get it in there a little scary
- 1:57:08Speaker 5: threw it into the mesh point.
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: How many games to Billy?
- 1:57:15Speaker 6: I'm sorry, what was what was that?
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: Mike?
- 1:57:17Speaker 7: They're making fun of me? What was that?
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: Mike?
- 1:57:19Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:57:20Speaker 5: I wish Fred not me. I'm just I'm just watching.
- 1:57:23Speaker 5: I'm just watching the difference with Bailey's appy out there.
- 1:57:26Speaker 5: And how do we watch games with him starting this year?
- 1:57:30Speaker 8: How do we watch games with Mac Jones starting?
- 1:57:33Speaker 4: Mac?
- 1:57:33Speaker 5: Poor Mac gotta he got he got a pick on
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: social media going around.
- 1:57:40Speaker 4: Down in Jackson.
- 1:57:41Speaker 7: Yeah, updates from training camp for him are just very accurate.
- 1:57:46Speaker 6: I'll tell you the center. Who is the center?
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: And this uh yuh might be Mafi. He is struggling.
- 1:57:57Speaker 4: Every snap has been off target out of these, I
- 1:58:00Speaker 4: don't care.
- 1:58:03Speaker 5: Which again, it's like, you know, he's playing next to
- 1:58:06Speaker 5: the under after rookie there. Charles Turner, who I don't
- 1:58:09Speaker 5: know if I've even seen him snap the ball yet.
- 1:58:11Speaker 4: He was help Leu's use center last year. Get my owner.
- 1:58:17Speaker 5: If Jake Anders would would fit into this mix, if
- 1:58:19Speaker 5: when he's able to get back out here, all right,
- 1:58:23Speaker 5: ZAPPI still going pet Way Wallace Jennings at running bags.
- 1:58:35Speaker 5: Opportunity is kind of all He's the kind of opportunity
- 1:58:38Speaker 5: reps across the board, even though you grow.
- 1:58:39Speaker 4: Pepper's out there, you know, just set in the town.
- 1:58:41Speaker 4: That's a good okay. I think that would be the
- 1:58:45Speaker 4: last rep I got five each.
- 1:58:48Speaker 7: Yeah, let me go through one more time, maybe just
- 1:58:51Speaker 7: for fun.
- 1:58:52Speaker 4: Well, it's sounding looks like they might get another rep
- 1:58:58Speaker 4: high five and people like.
- 1:58:59Speaker 2: They just congratulating each other surviving a practice.
- 1:59:06Speaker 6: You make fun of me. You have a lot of
- 1:59:08Speaker 6: sidecast to your game.
- 1:59:11Speaker 7: Girod Mayo is U is not signaling them to head
- 1:59:16Speaker 7: to the hill or anything.
- 1:59:18Speaker 4: I'm not sure they're done. I don't think they are.
- 1:59:20Speaker 2: They might go to one fifteen today.
- 1:59:22Speaker 4: They're milling.
- 1:59:23Speaker 7: Looks like Jacoe Brossett is going to get another run.
- 1:59:26Speaker 7: He's talking to Alex van Pelt at the moment, starting
- 1:59:29Speaker 7: defens around there.
- 1:59:30Speaker 4: So yeah, they still don't run it again. I cauld
- 1:59:34Speaker 4: stand the wonderf they'll do nub formation again. That'd be fun.
- 1:59:40Speaker 7: Team USA has pulled away for a twenty one point
- 1:59:43Speaker 7: lead in the fourth quarter. Rest of the world's catching up.
- 1:59:48Speaker 2: Is this still the group stage or what do we do?
- 1:59:50Speaker 7: This is their first game against Serbia, who has Nikola
- 1:59:52Speaker 7: Jokic on their team.
- 1:59:53Speaker 4: Never never lose that snart.
- 1:59:55Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I heard u. I heard Serbia at the
- 1:59:57Speaker 7: best player in the world was really catching up to
- 1:59:59Speaker 7: USA twenty one point, coasting to a win. Here we're
- 2:00:06Speaker 7: walking through or so we are done one for one,
- 2:00:13Speaker 7: we are done.
- 2:00:15Speaker 4: Oh, he's just doing one play.
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: That's it.
- 2:00:18Speaker 4: One play to come. Oh, that was almost an unbelievable
- 2:00:22Speaker 4: one handed catch by that equipment guy who kind of
- 2:00:27Speaker 4: looks like he's stacked the tall the guy in the blue. Yeah,
- 2:00:31Speaker 4: May's out there now. Is everybody gonna just run one plane?
- 2:00:34Speaker 2: Now?
- 2:00:36Speaker 4: I think they might be installing a play.
- 2:00:37Speaker 2: It's like call your favorite play for each quarterback. So
- 2:00:43Speaker 2: what's what's Drake May's favorite play? We'll see right now.
- 2:00:45Speaker 2: So motion to the left, he shotgun and he throws
- 2:01:03Speaker 2: it out.
- 2:01:06Speaker 4: It's the thing with Nick Levertto.
- 2:01:07Speaker 5: He's another guy that I feel like with him snapping
- 2:01:10Speaker 5: second string, He's got a lot of interior kind of
- 2:01:13Speaker 5: swing versatility. How he's gonna fit in with Mafi And now.
- 2:01:19Speaker 11: Zach, So one play each, get one play, gotta lose yourself.
- 2:01:32Speaker 4: You're gonna get one shot, you know, one opportunity.
- 2:01:34Speaker 6: I got it.
- 2:01:35Speaker 4: I got it. Matt Morele is banging heads downstairs right now.
- 2:01:38Speaker 4: That's all he needs. Happy holding it complete and.
- 2:01:46Speaker 5: They have a convoy, so you'll go, all right, here
- 2:01:51Speaker 5: we go.
- 2:01:51Speaker 4: I think we were wrong last practice. Two guys.
- 2:01:54Speaker 6: Everybody had sly for this one.
- 2:01:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I couldn't see with our our angle. So let's see.
- 2:02:05Speaker 2: If the season started today, who's your kicker?
- 2:02:10Speaker 7: Sly Ty goes to the incumbent.
- 2:02:13Speaker 4: I think they probably want Ryland to win the job. Yeah,
- 2:02:17Speaker 4: and they haven't really done anything yet, so I would
- 2:02:21Speaker 4: go with Ryland.
- 2:02:23Speaker 5: No, it's funny because they're not really are They not
- 2:02:25Speaker 5: playing the music for the kickers now, So I mean
- 2:02:28Speaker 5: that used to be when we get some atmosphere, a
- 2:02:30Speaker 5: little pressure here at.
- 2:02:31Speaker 7: The end, but to be fair, usually is silent when
- 2:02:34Speaker 7: they kicks.
- 2:02:36Speaker 4: All right, So Slies going first from Ditrich wise Lake
- 2:02:40Speaker 4: getting out thirty four left.
- 2:02:42Speaker 7: Hack guys, oh off the upright and no good good
- 2:02:47Speaker 7: from how long thirty three thirty four?
- 2:02:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I think thirty four from the left this time
- 2:02:56Speaker 5: slies going first, that was Sly, Yeah, I thought that
- 2:03:03Speaker 5: was Rylan. Now it's Ryland here, No, I know this
- 2:03:07Speaker 5: is Ryland. I thought the first one was Ryland. Okay,
- 2:03:11Speaker 5: you might be right.
- 2:03:12Speaker 4: I don't know. That looked bad too. I don't know.
- 2:03:18Speaker 7: I don't know if that went in. It's so hard
- 2:03:19Speaker 7: to see from this angle.
- 2:03:24Speaker 4: All right. So now now we're doing the rights coming
- 2:03:30Speaker 4: off the field.
- 2:03:30Speaker 2: Here, who.
- 2:03:35Speaker 4: Secn me something to eighty two? You see the guy
- 2:03:42Speaker 4: that got lit up? Yeah, yeah, eighty two, he's the
- 2:03:49Speaker 4: guy that got lit up.
- 2:03:52Speaker 5: Oh, I don't know about that one either, No high facts.
- 2:03:56Speaker 5: I think Slim is that one.
- 2:04:00Speaker 4: And now r Island from the right hash thirty four
- 2:04:03Speaker 4: yard attempt.
- 2:04:06Speaker 5: I can't even I can't even alreadycord this. I can't
- 2:04:10Speaker 5: tell if they're good.
- 2:04:10Speaker 7: I know, I just have Barth tell me after practice with.
- 2:04:15Speaker 4: The hang times no offense. But I don't trust anybody
- 2:04:18Speaker 4: to be honest with her.
- 2:04:19Speaker 5: I don't even know about that from this angle, I can't. Yeah,
- 2:04:22Speaker 5: you know, it's really hard to tell.
- 2:04:24Speaker 8: And I just I don't see anyone like high fiving
- 2:04:26Speaker 8: no either, So like it's just hard to tell if
- 2:04:29Speaker 8: he if it went.
- 2:04:31Speaker 5: Through or not.
- 2:04:32Speaker 2: Well, the foot to ball speed looked at, but.
- 2:04:35Speaker 8: The body language and like no one acknowledging it is weird.
- 2:04:40Speaker 5: Now we're going forty yards from the left hash Joey
- 2:04:43Speaker 5: slide back up?
- 2:04:53Speaker 4: What's up? And it's something? Yeah, I don't know.
- 2:04:59Speaker 5: I mean they kick you in the hole, older high
- 2:05:00Speaker 5: five after everyone, So I don't know.
- 2:05:03Speaker 7: It's up in the air.
- 2:05:06Speaker 5: Made the rops here, yeah, or at least teacher wise
- 2:05:10Speaker 5: used to help us out with this.
- 2:05:13Speaker 4: Eric Alexander and the way back between used to be
- 2:05:15Speaker 4: good at that too. I'm gonna give him that one. Yeah,
- 2:05:26Speaker 4: all right, A lot of the guys are heading out
- 2:05:29Speaker 4: of the field right, so head down to the hills.
- 2:05:31Speaker 2: We're gonna put our camera on the hill while we
- 2:05:35Speaker 2: wait for Gerard Mayo because we're gonna interview Gerard Mayo
- 2:05:38Speaker 2: after practice. Tamara's teeing up for that. You're ready for that?
- 2:05:41Speaker 7: I am.
- 2:05:42Speaker 2: Yeah. You get some good questions lined up. Okay, it
- 2:05:48Speaker 2: should be fun here.
- 2:05:49Speaker 5: He's got a few training camp practices under his belt.
- 2:05:51Speaker 5: I'm sure he's excited though, for a little little pads tomorrow.
- 2:05:54Speaker 5: All football players get excited the crack of the pads.
- 2:05:58Speaker 7: He once played football.
- 2:05:59Speaker 4: That's true.
- 2:06:00Speaker 2: I've heard that all at Tennessee.
- 2:06:02Speaker 7: He docked the line a volunteer, if you will. I
- 2:06:06Speaker 7: think he wore the same number as Joe Joe Milton.
- 2:06:09Speaker 4: Oh yeah, is that like a special number down there?
- 2:06:12Speaker 4: I don't know, specially we're still going here kickers.
- 2:06:20Speaker 7: So maybe it was a tie. Then maybe this is
- 2:06:21Speaker 7: the tie breaker. Loser does carries the pads. I think
- 2:06:27Speaker 7: that went in.
- 2:06:29Speaker 2: Well.
- 2:06:30Speaker 7: Check he's getting some dawns.
- 2:06:31Speaker 4: I don't know. Check.
- 2:06:32Speaker 2: I think we do know about Ryland. He's got a leg.
- 2:06:35Speaker 2: He can he can go.
- 2:06:37Speaker 4: Too, ye see him be.
- 2:06:42Speaker 2: He's know Nick Folk?
- 2:06:44Speaker 4: Nick Folk? Is he the kicker again this year in Tennessee?
- 2:06:47Speaker 4: I believe so. Yeah, jeez, it's great. It's great stuff,
- 2:06:51Speaker 4: great story.
- 2:06:55Speaker 2: So we're waiting for a Drid Mayo. I'm sure he's
- 2:06:58Speaker 2: down by the hills with the rest of the team.
- 2:07:01Speaker 4: So Austin Hooper fred is the guy that I noticed today.
- 2:07:04Speaker 7: Okay, yeah, he had a handful of catches.
- 2:07:07Speaker 4: I thought.
- 2:07:09Speaker 7: Him and Javon Baker. If you want some offensive standouts,
- 2:07:13Speaker 7: Baker I thought was open the entire practice, uh, one
- 2:07:16Speaker 7: on ones and during team periods. But yeah, Austin Hooper,
- 2:07:20Speaker 7: Jalen Rager, Booty had some. He had some one on
- 2:07:24Speaker 7: ones Yep, in not a good way. I think who
- 2:07:27Speaker 7: has been consistently rough the past few days is juju. Yeah,
- 2:07:32Speaker 7: it's like when you're given very little reps as it
- 2:07:35Speaker 7: is because that room is so big and so many
- 2:07:37Speaker 7: people competing for the roster spot. It's like when I
- 2:07:40Speaker 7: look at his tape from the past three four days,
- 2:07:43Speaker 7: you see a bunch of drops.
- 2:07:45Speaker 2: It's not so you can see the Patriots running the hills.
- 2:07:50Speaker 3: And you might have heard about the hills, but I'm
- 2:07:53Speaker 3: not sure a lot of fans may have heard, but
- 2:07:56Speaker 3: I'm not sure a lot of fans out there have
- 2:07:58Speaker 3: actually seen the hell.
- 2:08:00Speaker 2: So here's your opportunity to do that.
- 2:08:02Speaker 4: It starts off a little flat and then all at
- 2:08:04Speaker 4: the end it tails up. Yeah.
- 2:08:05Speaker 2: Well there's two of them. There's one that's a little
- 2:08:08Speaker 2: steeper at the end, and then there's one that's a
- 2:08:11Speaker 2: it's more of a steady incline raised up a little.
- 2:08:16Speaker 5: It's the worst part of every sport, right sprints, just
- 2:08:19Speaker 5: conditioning at the end of practice.
- 2:08:21Speaker 2: Oh God, I hated it.
- 2:08:23Speaker 7: I used to hate ending in well, we used to
- 2:08:25Speaker 7: call them suicides. I don't know what they're called. Now
- 2:08:29Speaker 7: that was the worst.
- 2:08:32Speaker 2: Let's say that line touches in basketball.
- 2:08:35Speaker 5: Yeah, but you also have the flat the flat land
- 2:08:38Speaker 5: group here seam Wade among others up top running without
- 2:08:43Speaker 5: the hill.
- 2:08:45Speaker 7: And then I see some biking. I see some biking,
- 2:08:47Speaker 7: I see some rap work work some peloton. Yeah no,
- 2:08:51Speaker 7: they're one of those bikes that has like the arms too,
- 2:08:54Speaker 7: so not like a peloton. It sounds like a hybrid
- 2:08:57Speaker 7: of like an elliptical flash. That's exactly what it is.
- 2:09:06Speaker 5: I wonder what one does to get into the flat
- 2:09:09Speaker 5: field running group instead of like the hell's too much
- 2:09:12Speaker 5: for these guys?
- 2:09:14Speaker 4: Or do you think, oh wait, this is crazy.
- 2:09:16Speaker 5: I know they monitor all these guys in real time
- 2:09:19Speaker 5: about how much they're doing. Do you think it's possible
- 2:09:21Speaker 5: that they say, you got a lot of work today,
- 2:09:23Speaker 5: you're not on the hill something like that. I mean,
- 2:09:25Speaker 5: do they dial back specific guys who specifically ran more
- 2:09:28Speaker 5: than anybody else? I mean, I don't know, just toss
- 2:09:32Speaker 5: some ideas out there.
- 2:09:32Speaker 4: So I would think all the DB's and wide receivers
- 2:09:35Speaker 4: would be doing that. Then not necessarily, David Andrews.
- 2:09:39Speaker 7: I have the offense with seven successful plays to fifteen,
- 2:09:46Speaker 7: but Jakob Brissett and Drake May quarterback, so actually a
- 2:09:49Speaker 7: little bit more even day, I would say than the
- 2:09:52Speaker 7: last couple of days I've had, but not a whole
- 2:09:54Speaker 7: lot going down the field for the offense. We had
- 2:09:56Speaker 7: a bunch of short passes to make up those seven
- 2:10:00Speaker 7: positive plays.
- 2:10:01Speaker 5: But.
- 2:10:03Speaker 7: Maybe a little bit more, a little bit more even.
- 2:10:06Speaker 5: I mean, I think the thing for me too is
- 2:10:07Speaker 5: that they're just this sense of angst from the players
- 2:10:11Speaker 5: so far, like the offensive players, like there was the
- 2:10:14Speaker 5: last couple of years when we'd watched these practices and
- 2:10:17Speaker 5: you know.
- 2:10:17Speaker 4: Similarly unproductive.
- 2:10:20Speaker 5: I mean, for me, I look back at those practices,
- 2:10:21Speaker 5: I remember a lot of well they had like two
- 2:10:24Speaker 5: nice contested fades in the end zone to Devonte Parker,
- 2:10:28Speaker 5: you know, like those were that was kind of what
- 2:10:30Speaker 5: you would hang your hat on. Whereas you know, now
- 2:10:32Speaker 5: it's just I don't know, that's what all monitors I mean,
- 2:10:35Speaker 5: seems like the offensive coaches and players still seem pretty
- 2:10:38Speaker 5: positive about what they're doing that thus far, despite not
- 2:10:43Speaker 5: a lot of on field results that we've been gushing over.
- 2:10:46Speaker 4: Sporadic plays here and then.
- 2:10:48Speaker 7: Yeah, the old paulism. I mean like when you hit
- 2:10:52Speaker 7: the play to Austin Hooper. You know, those types of
- 2:10:54Speaker 7: plays do give you some confidence that some things are
- 2:10:57Speaker 7: starting to come together. And I would also say that
- 2:11:00Speaker 7: it's it's positive that the offensive line decided to settle
- 2:11:04Speaker 7: down a little bit. They were better a couple of
- 2:11:05Speaker 7: days and you see, you know, that same five out
- 2:11:08Speaker 7: there with Jakobe Brissett. Maybe that does build some continuity
- 2:11:12Speaker 7: and you're able to be a little bit more buttoned up.
- 2:11:15Speaker 7: But I thought they were at times. They still allowed
- 2:11:18Speaker 7: some pressures, you know, Dietrich Wise Godshaw had one, Daniel
- 2:11:22Speaker 7: Qualley had one in there somewhere. But in general I
- 2:11:25Speaker 7: thought that they were a little bit better today.
- 2:11:31Speaker 5: Still working on the hills, Yeah yeah, but I do
- 2:11:35Speaker 5: think we get back tomorrow and it's the same starting
- 2:11:38Speaker 5: five along the offensive line in pads, that that.
- 2:11:42Speaker 4: Probably be it, And aren't you expecting that at this point?
- 2:11:45Speaker 8: I kind of help, which is good because I really
- 2:11:47Speaker 8: don't want them to be still trying to figure that out.
- 2:11:50Speaker 8: You know, the third preseason game, I'd rather than figure
- 2:11:52Speaker 8: out sooner rather than later.
- 2:11:53Speaker 7: They buy Yeah, they got they got it.
- 2:11:57Speaker 4: They got to test it against real fire right. Yeah,
- 2:11:59Speaker 4: I don't know. Fred, You've been telling me they've had
- 2:12:01Speaker 4: hundreds of days of work. I mean, how many days
- 2:12:04Speaker 4: they need?
- 2:12:07Speaker 2: You know, it's teaching.
- 2:12:08Speaker 4: He's too easy. Fred's paying himself in the corner with it.
- 2:12:13Speaker 6: I mean they've been added since like early one.
- 2:12:15Speaker 5: That's a friend's going to lead off the questioning with
- 2:12:17Speaker 5: MAO is he's just going to finger wagon? Well?
- 2:12:20Speaker 4: Actually it's actually wow.
- 2:12:24Speaker 2: Do those practices counter not?
- 2:12:27Speaker 5: You know, have you guys been catching anything else going
- 2:12:32Speaker 5: on at any other camps or I really have not
- 2:12:34Speaker 5: all I.
- 2:12:35Speaker 7: Have thoroughly been enjoying J. J McCarthy throwing pick sixes.
- 2:12:39Speaker 7: Oh yeah, thoroughly.
- 2:12:40Speaker 4: Oh really, I have not seen that.
- 2:12:42Speaker 7: There are some clips going around of him making some
- 2:12:45Speaker 7: good throws too. I'll be fair, but oh yeah, they're
- 2:12:49Speaker 7: picking on poor JJ in Minnesota.
- 2:12:51Speaker 2: Should the Cincinnati Bengals be considered one of the NFL's
- 2:12:54Speaker 2: elite teams?
- 2:12:56Speaker 6: No, what do you consider elite?
- 2:12:58Speaker 2: Like you know, super bottom mat super Bowl content?
- 2:13:00Speaker 4: They're a Super Bowl content? I agree, Yes, Okay, I
- 2:13:03Speaker 4: know everybody hates Cincinnati and for obvious reasons within our building.
- 2:13:08Speaker 4: You're not the only one that said something like that.
- 2:13:09Speaker 1: To me.
- 2:13:10Speaker 4: But yes, they're one of the better teams in the league.
- 2:13:13Speaker 4: But I mean, I don't I wouldn't put them with
- 2:13:16Speaker 4: like San Francisco in Kansas City right now.
- 2:13:20Speaker 6: They have to be more consistent.
- 2:13:22Speaker 4: So are they're they're really good?
- 2:13:24Speaker 2: Are we all going to stay up for Gerard? People
- 2:13:26Speaker 2: going down?
- 2:13:26Speaker 7: What do we do?
- 2:13:27Speaker 4: I thought if you you and Tamara are gonna stay
- 2:13:30Speaker 4: do the interview, I'll wait and you guys can go
- 2:13:32Speaker 4: down now, I'll wait and tap dance with you for
- 2:13:35Speaker 4: lack of a better term. Okay, so we don't have
- 2:13:37Speaker 4: to just, you know, kind of sit around and wait
- 2:13:39Speaker 4: and when Gerard comes over, I'll leave the interview to
- 2:13:42Speaker 4: the professionals. How's that is that a plan?
- 2:13:45Speaker 7: Sounds sounds good?
- 2:13:46Speaker 4: I got to go to talk to somebody down there.
- 2:13:48Speaker 7: So that somebody is probably Pep. It's going to run
- 2:13:51Speaker 7: and chase you down.
- 2:13:53Speaker 4: Legally, I'm not allowed within twenty feet.
- 2:13:55Speaker 7: Hi p, Hi PEP. Big fan of your contract. Glad
- 2:13:58Speaker 7: you're sticking.
- 2:13:58Speaker 6: Around a little something to the effort. I got you
- 2:14:01Speaker 6: half of that, all right?
- 2:14:10Speaker 4: All right? So what do you uh, what do you
- 2:14:13Speaker 4: want to talk about with girod MAO? I mean beyond,
- 2:14:16Speaker 4: you know, like his impressions here. Obviously we're gonna first
- 2:14:19Speaker 4: four days under your belt.
- 2:14:20Speaker 3: Well, I would like to know if there's anything specific
- 2:14:24Speaker 3: that he tells his team to be ready for pads tomorrow.
- 2:14:28Speaker 3: You know, is there something Is there a message that
- 2:14:30Speaker 3: have on my list? Yeah, that he's giving the guys,
- 2:14:33Speaker 3: like how to mentally prepare for tomorrow.
- 2:14:35Speaker 4: Can we ask for a little bit of a sneak
- 2:14:37Speaker 4: peek of what we might see tomorrow?
- 2:14:38Speaker 2: Yeah, we could do that.
- 2:14:41Speaker 6: I'd appreciate that.
- 2:14:42Speaker 2: I think I think the answer is what we've already seen.
- 2:14:45Speaker 2: But you just have pads on.
- 2:14:46Speaker 4: Oh no, I'm I'm asking like, are we going to
- 2:14:49Speaker 4: see So you think nothing will change? No, okay, that's
- 2:14:52Speaker 4: just my opinion. I mean, yeah, that's an answer. Yeah,
- 2:14:56Speaker 4: I was hoping to see a little contact.
- 2:14:59Speaker 2: Well, no, you'll see contact. Yeah, absolutely, that's the change.
- 2:15:03Speaker 2: It's pads. But in terms of the structure of the practice,
- 2:15:07Speaker 2: I think it'll be the same.
- 2:15:08Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I meant like what actually they're doing, not
- 2:15:11Speaker 4: necessarily how they're doing. They're going to do it. You're right,
- 2:15:13Speaker 4: you're going to do it the same way they've done
- 2:15:15Speaker 4: it the first four days, which I keep saying like
- 2:15:18Speaker 4: it's football, right, it's football practice. Like you go around
- 2:15:21Speaker 4: the NFL and there's different times doing this. They do things,
- 2:15:26Speaker 4: you know, a little bit differently than Bill did. But
- 2:15:28Speaker 4: Bill did seven on seven, Bill did eleven on eleven.
- 2:15:31Speaker 2: You know like this, not like this strange you build
- 2:15:35Speaker 2: up toward eleven on eleven.
- 2:15:36Speaker 4: Right, the stuff you do before practice in a walkthrough
- 2:15:39Speaker 4: setting is the stuff that you're going to be doing
- 2:15:41Speaker 4: when you're doing it against the defense. Yep. Ah, it's
- 2:15:51Speaker 4: a good, solid crowd today. I mean I was hoping
- 2:15:53Speaker 4: on Sunday that we'd see some people, and there were
- 2:15:55Speaker 4: definitely a few more people here today than there were
- 2:15:59Speaker 4: on interest on Wednesday.
- 2:16:02Speaker 8: I'll be interested to see how the crowd looks tomorrow,
- 2:16:04Speaker 8: especially if it does rain. It's like, do you still
- 2:16:07Speaker 8: fight it out and come even because it's the first
- 2:16:09Speaker 8: day it pads and you just want to see it
- 2:16:11Speaker 8: or you wait it out?
- 2:16:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I guess it depends on how bad
- 2:16:15Speaker 6: it is.
- 2:16:17Speaker 7: I've honestly been shocked overall with the weather so far
- 2:16:20Speaker 7: that we've had in training camp. Like today's I feel
- 2:16:22Speaker 7: like our best day in regards to weather.
- 2:16:25Speaker 6: Yeah, beautiful day.
- 2:16:26Speaker 4: Is that over there? Yes, near Stacey.
- 2:16:28Speaker 2: He's heading kind of toward us, but not.
- 2:16:32Speaker 4: Quite in the general vicinity of this side to take
- 2:16:35Speaker 4: a little bit of a right turn.
- 2:16:37Speaker 7: You guys have better vision than me.
- 2:16:39Speaker 4: Might have to say hello to some people first. I
- 2:16:41Speaker 4: don't know, Oh, that could be. Maybe it's just.
- 2:16:46Speaker 2: Getting some water.
- 2:16:47Speaker 4: That would be the best case scenario.
- 2:16:49Speaker 2: It's just drink, yeah, do a little hydrate.
- 2:17:00Speaker 4: All right. So you guys are going to be up
- 2:17:02Speaker 4: and running momentarily.
- 2:17:03Speaker 6: Yeah, So Paul, why don't you head down? I enjoyed it, Freddy.
- 2:17:08Speaker 4: Four four more under the belt, fred Yeah, we just
- 2:17:11Speaker 4: keep on going here, huh. You and I revolutionizing training
- 2:17:15Speaker 4: camp coverage. We got a young male greeting her dad.
- 2:17:31Speaker 4: All right, they're getting his headset.
- 2:17:33Speaker 2: On all right.
- 2:17:42Speaker 3: Tomorrow we're joined by head coach girod Mayo, So fire away,
- 2:17:47Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 2:17:47Speaker 7: Fred. Hey, how are you? How are you doing today?
- 2:17:50Speaker 7: I'm great? How are you?
- 2:17:52Speaker 8: You've gotten a couple of practices underneath your belt? How
- 2:17:54Speaker 8: do you think training camp is going so far? Through
- 2:17:56Speaker 8: your through your eyes?
- 2:17:57Speaker 12: I mean it's expected that we'll have ups and downs,
- 2:17:59Speaker 12: but I would say these guys are doing a great job.
- 2:18:02Speaker 12: Turning the page and getting better with every rep, not
- 2:18:04Speaker 12: only on the field, but also off the field.
- 2:18:06Speaker 4: So I'm excited.
- 2:18:07Speaker 8: One of the common denominators that we've heard in all
- 2:18:09Speaker 8: of your press conferences so far is competition. How do
- 2:18:12Speaker 8: you think the competition is playing out at every position?
- 2:18:14Speaker 12: You know, right now it's a little bit of, let's say,
- 2:18:17Speaker 12: control competition. But tomorrow is a big day when we'll
- 2:18:19Speaker 12: be out here in full pads and we'll see who
- 2:18:21Speaker 12: wants to compete and who has to deal with some adversity.
- 2:18:23Speaker 4: So I'm excited for tomorrow.
- 2:18:25Speaker 2: Hey, coach, speaking of full pads tomorrow, is there a
- 2:18:28Speaker 2: message that you give the team to mentally get prepared
- 2:18:31Speaker 2: for tomorrow in more contact? Yea.
- 2:18:33Speaker 12: Honestly, like a lot of these guys, they can't wait
- 2:18:35Speaker 12: to get in pass now understanding the acclimation period is
- 2:18:39Speaker 12: necessary once you put the pads on. If you can't
- 2:18:41Speaker 12: get juiced up to play real football, then you probably
- 2:18:44Speaker 12: shouldn't be here. If I had to give you a
- 2:18:45Speaker 12: row our speech to put on pads and go out
- 2:18:48Speaker 12: there and dominate the men across from you, like we're
- 2:18:50Speaker 12: trying to weed those guys out. So as we go forward,
- 2:18:52Speaker 12: we feel like we have a mentally tough team.
- 2:18:54Speaker 8: Coach, you brought up dominating the man right in front
- 2:18:56Speaker 8: of you. I want to go into the trenches now
- 2:18:58Speaker 8: and talk about the offensive line. You said the that's five,
- 2:19:00Speaker 8: this would play itself out in camp.
- 2:19:02Speaker 7: Where do you think you are with that look?
- 2:19:04Speaker 12: That's a great question, Tomaron, But I would say, honestly,
- 2:19:07Speaker 12: we'll see tomorrow, we'll see the way we'll see. I
- 2:19:09Speaker 12: would love to give you an answer, but it's hard
- 2:19:10Speaker 12: to evaluate the guys up front offensively and defensively when
- 2:19:14Speaker 12: there's not pads.
- 2:19:15Speaker 8: Of course, the biggest question everyone wants to know with
- 2:19:17Speaker 8: this camp is how is Drake may doing?
- 2:19:19Speaker 7: What is your perspective of his progress throughout camp?
- 2:19:22Speaker 12: YEA, Honestly, I would say all the quarterbacks are out
- 2:19:24Speaker 12: here getting better every day, including you know, Zappi and
- 2:19:26Speaker 12: Joe and you know obviously Jacoby. All those guys like
- 2:19:29Speaker 12: they're working their tails off, and we'll see what happens
- 2:19:32Speaker 12: as we continue to go. Right now, we're kind of still,
- 2:19:34Speaker 12: you know, mixing and matching the groups, but once we settle.
- 2:19:37Speaker 4: In, we'll be able to evaluate the quarterback position.
- 2:19:39Speaker 8: But Drake's doing a good job for us last one
- 2:19:41Speaker 8: before you let you go. The wide receiver room is stacked.
- 2:19:44Speaker 8: You've seen a different guy flash every single day. What
- 2:19:46Speaker 8: have you seen out of that room?
- 2:19:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 2:19:48Speaker 12: I mean those guys when you talk about competition, they're
- 2:19:50Speaker 12: competing at everything. They compete on the jug machines down downstairs.
- 2:19:54Speaker 12: So you know, honestly, it's one of those rooms where
- 2:19:57Speaker 12: you don't maybe have that big name, but you have
- 2:19:59Speaker 12: guys that are gonna break out this year just solely
- 2:20:01Speaker 12: based on the way that they are preparing each and
- 2:20:04Speaker 12: every day. So I'm excited to see those guys play.
- 2:20:06Speaker 2: Well.
- 2:20:06Speaker 7: Thanks so much, Coach for your time.
