Transcript
- 0:11Speaker 1: It's time for Snake Bit with Albert Nims on the North Florida Sports Network.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Happy, happy, happy Wednesday to everybody being coming off the Orange Blossom Classic.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I'm talking to you guys live from Atlanta.
- 0:33Speaker 2: This guy's back from Miami on yesterday, so that lets you know how much fun that I personally had and celebrating the rallies with the first win over Jackson State in Miami.
- 0:43Speaker 2: It's not our first Orange Blossom Classic win because it's the oldest classic that has ever been played before.
- 0:49Speaker 2: It goes all the way back to the 50s if I'm not mistaken.
- 0:52Speaker 2: But hey, all that's needed to hear there.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Let's talk about this W.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Alright, if you was there in Miami you already knew you didn't have time to get your popcorn to be able to sit in your seats because family took the opening kickoff back.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Okay, and that was taken back by Marcus Riley 96 yards opening kickoff.
- 1:12Speaker 2: So we kind of set the tone with the opening kickoff.
- 1:14Speaker 2: But I do want to say this shout out to Jackson State as opposed to Deion Sanders' area.
- 1:19Speaker 2: You really could tell by the crowd from Jackson that Sanders made a really, really big difference.
- 1:24Speaker 2: You know he kind of brought the crowd because the tennis wasn't as large as it was last year.
- 1:28Speaker 2: But we got the W this year so we're not even worried about the tennis last year.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Man, man.
- 1:36Speaker 1: It sounds like a great start, though I mean what a big game, what a reversal man, what an outcome was?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and it really was.
- 1:45Speaker 2: And I want to say this shout out to Jerry Ramosa.
- 1:47Speaker 2: He came out looking really, really sharp.
- 1:50Speaker 2: He went 12 for 22, 150 yards, two touchdowns with a long go 68.
- 1:54Speaker 2: And he only got second once.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Yeah, because last year we gave up a lot of seconds.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Jackson State had a really, really fast defense.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Jackson was bringing out there they have a quarterback in for the person but they did go with a duo quarterback team.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Both of them actually completed 10 passes apiece, both of the Jackson State quarterbacks, with Zade McDonald going for 10 for 14, which was their starter 449 yards.
- 2:21Speaker 2: He had a long of 66 yards.
- 2:22Speaker 2: When we gave up a big play, that was a big touchdown.
- 2:24Speaker 2: We gave up, but that was Jackson late in the game because we had him scoreless at 28-0 for a long, for a good little while.
- 2:30Speaker 2: A half time man, yeah, a half time.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And then they didn't score a field goal until the third quarter.
- 2:35Speaker 2: But then you came out hot.
- 2:36Speaker 2: We didn't score any more points after.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I mean, we didn't come in the score any second half points.
- 2:42Speaker 2: But that just came from a lot of making a lot of adjustments and we gave up a couple big drops.
- 2:47Speaker 2: But the biggest thing that I was surprised to see and that I'm really proud of is that he has a very good running game.
- 2:54Speaker 2: We had Tariel Jennings yeah, Tariel Jennings had 11 carries for 79 yards, and then he had a long of 19.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Then Yant came right behind him with 11 carries also, so they kind of shaded equally with 72 yards.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And then Kelman Dean had nine carries and Jerry Moosa actually was positive.
- 3:12Speaker 2: He had three carries for 17 yards.
- 3:15Speaker 1: That's great, and you know what's good to see is you said you mentioned it one sack, but no turnovers for Moosa.
- 3:19Speaker 1: No turnovers and they ran a ball, a balanced running attack.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I mean both guys had the damn near the same numbers you know, that was good to see.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I know you had mentioned that in the off season, that that was something that was going to be new this year is that running game?
- 3:38Speaker 2: And then sure showed up in a good way.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, because Coach Simmons is known for this.
- 3:43Speaker 2: The reason why they call him shot they don't call him shot going just for you know, just for just for giggles, and but now we got a balanced pass.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I got a balanced offense and to me, I love a balanced offense more so than a lopsided offense.
- 3:57Speaker 2: The defense came out really really well, looked extremely sharp.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Isaiah Minor had I'm sorry, isaiah Major, which is our star middle line back in the cap Another defense.
- 4:07Speaker 2: He had six tackles for assisted, two solo, and Anthony Dunn Jr had two sacks and four total tackles, but two of them were sacks.
- 4:17Speaker 2: So we were really, we were really, I was really impressed.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I really like, extremely impressed.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I like you.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I like you.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Touchdown.
- 4:26Speaker 1: That was a really an athletic play.
- 4:28Speaker 1: The way he jumped over that defender and got in.
- 4:30Speaker 1: It was really fun to watch.
- 4:33Speaker 1: It looks like you don't, and then with the defense was able to do.
- 4:37Speaker 1: You know you don't need to risk it.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You know, really, you just need to be efficient and hold that ball.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Let the defense rest.
- 4:45Speaker 1: It was a yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It could be a potent, potent venom this year for the Rallers.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Yeah, it really could be, because what to see the thing is the total yards for both teams.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Jackson had 303 yards on 66 plays.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Family had 357 yards on 62 plays.
- 5:01Speaker 2: So it shows that special teams really made a big difference.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Family has some good punt returns.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I had some good kick returns.
- 5:09Speaker 2: So special teams is really making a big difference in family has some red zone.
- 5:13Speaker 1: The red zone Right.
- 5:15Speaker 2: We were three for five.
- 5:15Speaker 2: That's the difference of the game.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Well, you know, they didn't get any.
- 5:20Speaker 1: They were only able to move the ball.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I mean, you could say you can just tell right there, just saying you gave me those stats and gave me the final score.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I could say that I mean, but that's, that's so.
- 5:31Speaker 1: The red zone defense by fam use what stood up and that's that's something big that you want to have on a winning team.
- 5:37Speaker 1: What a start to the season.
- 5:39Speaker 1: That's what?
- 5:40Speaker 1: Now, 10 straight.
- 5:42Speaker 2: That's to come on Also.
- 5:43Speaker 2: It's going to keep rolling.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Man, that's a.
- 5:46Speaker 2: And now we get ready to go to the yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 1: And now we get ready to go to temple on Saturday.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Against the USF Golden Bulls.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and they have a new coach, they have a whole new regime.
- 5:56Speaker 2: They were not.
- 5:56Speaker 2: They weren't a very good team last year.
- 5:58Speaker 2: So I think family has a really good chance.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I don't say it's putting out an upset family, just on the red out.
- 6:04Speaker 2: This year we always probably started off ranked at 25 preseason.
- 6:08Speaker 1: You got family pulling it off.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the highest ranking since what into the poll a couple of years ago.
- 6:14Speaker 2: The end of the poll.
- 6:15Speaker 2: A couple of years ago we went down into our southeast Louisiana.
- 6:17Speaker 2: But, I have.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I have family possibly pulling off a W down here in temple and that would kind of really set the tone for those recruits.
- 6:26Speaker 2: It's going to be a great game.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I don't think it's going to be a blowout.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I think Coach Simmons going coach really, really smart, because now you see the real balance and now you see how the defense is.
- 6:37Speaker 2: A family has a strong defense.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and Austin, you know how X men and Zagan Smith was your guy.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I think we might have a good replacement in Mark is yeah, ok, yeah, and you have a couple of guys.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Cherede also.
- 6:50Speaker 2: That's right, cherede is extremely tough, too Big game for him as well.
- 6:53Speaker 2: So that.
- 6:53Speaker 1: That's another thing you can, you know you have, but not the odds or by numbers, and you can have that running game.
- 7:00Speaker 1: You pick your poison.
- 7:02Speaker 2: My favorite was.
- 7:06Speaker 1: We lost John there, who was your favorite man ago.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Did man ago give many touches with him.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I've talked with him on Sunday morning before the game and he felt really good waking up that morning.
- 7:15Speaker 2: But the coaches and the team decided to hold him out because they didn't want to, you know, into that handy.
- 7:21Speaker 2: No more, they want to get a full recovery.
- 7:23Speaker 2: But he's our graduate receiver.
- 7:24Speaker 2: He's changed his number from 85 to number three this year and Look out for David Mannequin, because he didn't get into the paint last year and this year he got something to prove man, it's, it was a fun game, the defense it was game through.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I mean with brother was wait.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah, the weather was really really good.
- 7:42Speaker 2: It wasn't too hot, it might have been like it was versus last year.
- 7:45Speaker 2: The marching 100 did a very good job.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Jackson State Sonic boom team did a very good job.
- 7:50Speaker 2: So Well, you know what?
- 7:55Speaker 1: you know, did a good job.
- 7:56Speaker 1: You did a good job and pick in and, talking about Colorado, you were always on that?
- 8:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you did, I'm wrong.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I'm just tell you right now I was wrong, man you know it wasn't the fact that I thought that, uh, I mean Fred.
- 8:11Speaker 1: That wrong, I didn't.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I should have known that Dion ain't trying to build.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I mean, when he means build, it's like no, I meant now you're trying to go down, to go now, in forever more.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and I and I just I guess it was just a Block in my.
- 8:26Speaker 1: It must have been a blindside man for me and I'm not gonna sit there any longer.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I was impressed.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Should door Sanders should have been?
- 8:33Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, he's the real deal and he was last year.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Oh my good, it's a new story.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Oh he did the one up flu and now you know, you know now how look at the change.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Yeah, the change that those, those guys that left I mean.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Is a is a real deal man is a monster and then you have to get.
- 8:52Speaker 2: You gotta remember to Travis Hanna.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Said said made history by playing both sides with the game.
- 8:57Speaker 2: In the other realized to Travis Hanna was the number one recruit.
- 9:00Speaker 1: But he ended those good numbers in HBC you.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I think it just shines a light that there's good football there.
- 9:07Speaker 2: There's real good football there and the offense had and he's coaching with the chip on his shoulder now, when the coach has a chip on the shoulder.
- 9:14Speaker 2: The players gonna have a chip on oh yeah because I love it.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I love his postgame press conferences.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Oh, I know, I mean it's the.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I mean he has nothing to prove to anybody.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I mean he's a proven champion winner.
- 9:25Speaker 1: He's done it.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Oh, he's lived it.
- 9:27Speaker 1: He's lived the game in every aspect of it.
- 9:29Speaker 1: So the fact that you said, just because he hasn't Technically been a coach in college, but he coaches kids every single level, he played every single level.
- 9:40Speaker 1: He's been around Everyone it's just a foolish thing to do it.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I mean by me, picking the under was just a foolish thing to do, but I wasn't the only one.
- 9:49Speaker 1: A lot of people were doing it.
- 9:51Speaker 1: But I think it's just based on the fact that they hadn't.
- 9:54Speaker 1: But when you have, when you does, when you do stuff like this, it hadn't been done before you know.
- 9:58Speaker 1: That's why it stands out.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Right and I still have and I still got beyond sentence in the Colorado team doing Tim Williams.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I know you do.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I still got a new one team.
- 10:08Speaker 1: It's they got.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Nebraska this Saturday is sold out and Boulder man can't find a seat in the house.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but I'm gonna be so as long as the out there.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Both are gonna be, so it's good to see you like a joint play with the yeah.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember in Colorado and Nebraska games in the 90s, meeting everything good football.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but this is good football.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I think.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I think that Dion's gonna Got something for Nebraska this Saturday man.
- 10:33Speaker 2: I think so too, and it's good to see Colorado football being bad, because I remember Colorado and Notre Dame.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah um Well, I remember right the codelle Stuart pass.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I remember Ross, we're Sean Salon.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I got over 2000 y'all Buffalo running out on the field man right.
- 10:50Speaker 1: They have the traditions and they have, I mean, you got a lot Black and golds, pretty solid, uniform man.
- 10:56Speaker 2: You better believe it.
- 10:56Speaker 2: It's a nation, colorado.
- 10:58Speaker 2: It's a wet at all black.
- 10:58Speaker 2: I like speaking of.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you, thank you for real nice.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I love the green white combination.
- 11:05Speaker 2: You know I love that and Then they had to and then, if you notice, real good family added a little orange, trimming Yep, and the pans now have a stripper orange that borders behind the there's some good uniform Adjustments to Florida State look really good as well.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I know you saw.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Man good football back.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Yes, yes, there is man Well hey football back in the capital city way yes, so Fam you against some.
- 11:38Speaker 2: USF.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Saturday night.
- 11:39Speaker 1: What times the game start?
- 11:41Speaker 2: I want to say the game starts at seven, so seven o'clock.
- 11:44Speaker 2: You see, fam, you we're not gonna shot at Raymond James.
- 11:48Speaker 1: It'll be a big one, yeah.
- 11:52Speaker 2: And I will be in the building, so all right, we'll be coming back to you guys live on next Wednesday.
- 11:57Speaker 2: All right we're gonna talk some more football and hopefully we'll be talking about a win.
- 12:01Speaker 1: That's right.
- 12:02Speaker 1: All right, man, I appreciate you and we'll talk to you next time.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Hey man, I appreciate you having me a now.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Y'all remember, Please don't follow me.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Follow the North Florida sports network and the family rat and the simulnows.
- 12:15Speaker 1: All right, baby, we'll talk to you next time.
- 12:17Speaker 2: All right, okay, man.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Well, man, always good to talk to snake bit family contributor Albu man.
- 12:24Speaker 1: He is going with possibly the upset Saturday.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Possibly.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you think?
- 12:33Speaker 3: I'm just, I'm going with the outright upset man.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you S F's coming off that loss Do they?
- 12:40Speaker 3: Got beat by Western Kentucky, smacked by Western Kentucky, mm-hmm, starting a true freshman quarterback.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Mm-hmm who is wildly inaccurate.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Now, he can, he can run, he can motor.
- 12:51Speaker 3: They got some running backs.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't, I mean so what is a good Well, if not now, when I?
- 12:58Speaker 3: don't think.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I don't think South Florida's any better than Jackson State.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Let's put it that way, yep, and I think, fam, you's clearly better than both, right and I don't think you've seen the thing.
- 13:08Speaker 1: This offense has another level to it, because I think they can even take it up a notch With the passing game.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that's there.
- 13:18Speaker 1: So you got fam, you over.
- 13:23Speaker 3: You know we'll start that.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I got you going undefeated man, they hell yeah well, this will be.
- 13:29Speaker 1: This will be probably the last game, though they won't be favorite to win on the schedule, so we'll see what happens.
- 13:34Speaker 1: That game is Saturday night at seven.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Like like Altoge, all come out to Raymond James Stadium.
- 13:42Speaker 1: It'll be a good one.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Well, as far as I think.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I think fam you man usf better come to play, and I think they will.
- 13:53Speaker 1: But I think fam you wins.
- 13:54Speaker 1: They had the experience at the quarterback position.
- 13:58Speaker 2: They have guys at the running back position, the defense.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I mean this is an experienced team.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Well, coach team, and I think, fam, you extends the winning streak To 11 With the huge Win over the Bulls.
- 14:12Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 14:12Speaker 1: All right, let's continue the games.
- 14:16Speaker 1: All right, it's time, let's start right there.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Oh J Bob John J Fisher in Miami Johnny James big game, Crystal ball.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I think a and m's got four, he's getting four and a half.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, man, I picked them to lose when they were, when I was doing their season projection.
- 14:41Speaker 3: I it.
- 14:43Speaker 3: It comes down to that power run man.
- 14:45Speaker 3: They, you know it looks like to be.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Miami's strength is that offensive line?
- 14:49Speaker 3: That's definitely going to be the strength of Texas.
- 14:54Speaker 3: A and m's defense.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Is that that front four man?
- 14:59Speaker 3: I'll say a and m, but you know, I think Miami might cover here.
- 15:00Speaker 3: I think it might be a really close game.
- 15:04Speaker 3: You know, kind of like the last few games Jimbo, jimbo won when he was at FSU.
- 15:08Speaker 3: He kind of got some some late game luck man.
- 15:12Speaker 3: You know it's going to be the game I'm really most excited to watch during the day I know, I'm really intrigued by that that offensive front for Miami right.
- 15:24Speaker 3: That Texas a and m front four.
- 15:25Speaker 3: I see which which one dominates.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Or if it's a stalemate, that's still.
- 15:29Speaker 1: You know well it's going to be a good one, bobby Petrino, do against that Miami defense that looks a lot better, bobby.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Petrino even be allowed to do it.
- 15:38Speaker 3: You know when is Jimbo I?
- 15:39Speaker 1: picked this game.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I don't feel as good as I do, but I'm going to stick with it.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I think a and m wins.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I still think they're further along, you know, and just because Jimbo's been there, he has more talent, more depth.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the improvements that were clear, though the improvements were clear.
- 15:58Speaker 1: This is a game, though.
- 15:59Speaker 1: If you can win your one ahead of the of the prognosticators, if you're, Miami can either head coach really right now afford to lose this game?
- 16:08Speaker 1: No, this is a no, this is a big game.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I know Jimbo loses this game.
- 16:12Speaker 1: It's it's head on.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I mean they're the heat's coming.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Yeah, he's already there.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Well, the heat's coming, the interest level is going to go way down, yeah.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I just think a and m's just further along, a little bit more depth.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Jimbo's record in Miami is pretty stout and I'm going to go.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I'm going to go with that.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I got a and m covering.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Don't believe he's lost in Miami.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I think a and m wins by double digits.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Oh, you're going like that.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I do All right find out I could be dead wrong, which I might be, but I'm sure we'll hear from Justin if I am.
- 16:51Speaker 3: I'm a big fan of the Lance Gidry higher defensive coordinator, I think that's you know.
- 16:56Speaker 3: I think there's enough familiarity there between him and Jimbo Fisher to where they'll uh, they'll be.
- 17:02Speaker 3: It'll be close, man.
- 17:03Speaker 3: I think that that it'll be like maybe a late game field goal, something like that.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Still going a and m, I agree with you, I lead toward not so much depth is just experience.
- 17:15Speaker 3: You know, there's some, there's some youth.
- 17:18Speaker 3: That's some key spots for Miami still, even though that youth looks really good.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yeah Well, another big game is is up in Raleigh as the Catholics rally there, catholics are going down there.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Sam Hartman.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Is Sam Hartman coming right back down to his reunion tour for old Sammy?
- 17:41Speaker 1: and Notre Dame is giving in C Seat seven and a half at home.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Hmm, you know I NC State can't block anybody, they're offensive line really struggles.
- 17:55Speaker 3: I think Notre Dame covers I do too.
- 17:59Speaker 1: I do too.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Notre Dame looks like a playoff team.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I'm not going to even joke around with it.
- 18:04Speaker 2: They had.
- 18:04Speaker 2: The defense looks good.
- 18:05Speaker 1: The offense looks just on point with looks like they got exactly what they needed.
- 18:11Speaker 3: They seem to be pretty stout in the trenches both sides, and that's, that's the beginning, right.
- 18:17Speaker 1: And when you have a quarterback that's established and knows what to do with it, you're, you're going to have to go out.
- 18:21Speaker 1: You got to have to go out and execute and beat them and they, and I'm telling you, no, nc State doesn't have it this year, but now, with the great house.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Kid at wide receiver is true freshman quarterback.
- 18:32Speaker 1: He has a little bit of athleticism, the guy from Virginia.
- 18:35Speaker 2: but he's going to get shut down.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Notre Dame is going to win by double digits, so yeah, I think Notre Dame is a team that's going to week by week.
- 18:45Speaker 3: They're going to start just moving on up.
- 18:47Speaker 3: People are going to realize that this kind of for real.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Well, let's go up to Iowa.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I'm field's heaven, baseball field baseball corn, blue skies, iowa.
- 19:05Speaker 1: The big rivalry game Iowa State, Iowa.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Oh, they got the.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Uh, they got the cyclones.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Huh, Yep, I was got.
- 19:12Speaker 3: What is that?
- 19:12Speaker 3: The Psyhawk trophy?
- 19:14Speaker 1: Psyhawk yeah.
- 19:16Speaker 3: All right, yeah, I got Iowa man winning the game.
- 19:18Speaker 3: What?
- 19:19Speaker 3: What's the?
- 19:19Speaker 3: Four and a half, I think they cover.
- 19:21Speaker 3: They finally have a quarterback that can throw the football down the field.
- 19:25Speaker 3: I think that's what was keeping them from.
- 19:28Speaker 3: You know they weren't going to be a highly explosive offense, but they can get 25 points a game.
- 19:35Speaker 3: You know, mac American throw, you got a couple of weapons there.
- 19:38Speaker 3: That big tight end that followed him from Michigan and Iowa always plays defense.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Okay.
- 19:45Speaker 3: But you know, he, I don't know man, matt, matt Campbell.
- 19:48Speaker 3: I see they seem like they're kind of in a rebuild this this season.
- 19:52Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Okay, I think they'll care.
- 19:56Speaker 3: I think they're going by a touchdown at 28, 21 type of deal.
- 19:59Speaker 1: All right, all right, I got Iowa.
- 20:04Speaker 1: All right, I'm with you on that.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I love the.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I know we're agreeing again, but the Hawkeyes, I like the Hawkeyes.
- 20:11Speaker 1: This year they have a sneaky big 10 team.
- 20:14Speaker 3: man, they really are.
- 20:15Speaker 1: They still have the divisions in the big 10 as well.
- 20:17Speaker 1: They have the West.
- 20:18Speaker 1: So, like you said, if they have a quarterback that can score some points and just be dagger, moderately, okay, you are going to have a good year.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Just don't turn the ball over and and those are two things, that that they didn't have last year.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Right, there was no even okay and right.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Massive turnovers from the QB spot.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Okay, let's move on here.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Yeah, let's go down to Texas and we'll see the pack 12 champion Utah Utes coming off their big win over Florida at home, going to take on Baylor who lost.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Texas state.
- 20:56Speaker 3: They're going to be without their starting quarterback, I think too, looking kind of rough.
- 21:01Speaker 3: I'll go Utah.
- 21:02Speaker 3: What are the?
- 21:02Speaker 3: What are they?
- 21:04Speaker 1: what's the spread?
- 21:05Speaker 1: Utah is getting six Okay.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Six just saying yeah man.
- 21:13Speaker 3: All right, I got him covering that man, I think uh.
- 21:16Speaker 1: You guys, you talk yeah, all right, we ready, we ready.
- 21:19Speaker 1: This is it.
- 21:20Speaker 1: This is my upset, special man.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Baylor, baylor.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Over the youths Comes up the backup quarterback who was in it for the starting job.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I think they're either gonna rally at home.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Their coach is nine and four as the underdog in the spread.
- 21:37Speaker 1: He acts, he plays, he has his best preparation weeks.
- 21:41Speaker 1: That is when they're underdogs and I think they'll be the home opener.
- 21:46Speaker 1: You got embarrassed in week one.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you are gonna come out with that chip.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Everybody's gonna come focused.
- 21:53Speaker 3: And it's still.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Utah's first game on the road.
- 21:56Speaker 3: It's no right Still questions at quarterback.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Okay okay, We'll see I'm gonna pick.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I got Baylor winning outright, All right yeah there we go, there we go.
- 22:06Speaker 1: That's right there.
- 22:07Speaker 1: All right, let's keep it rolling.
- 22:09Speaker 1: All right, let's see Illinois, the guy that looks like Butthead from Beavis and Butthead.
- 22:19Speaker 3: He talking about old Bert Belemus.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Yes, brett.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:24Speaker 1: He is going out to Kansas Kansas.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Oh okay, leopold, Lance Leopold and Brett Belemus.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Yeah, jesus At Kansas.
- 22:34Speaker 3: What's it he's?
- 22:35Speaker 1: always getting three and a half.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Ooh, man, that's some.
- 22:38Speaker 3: You know what?
- 22:40Speaker 3: I'm gonna go Kansas on this one.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you know.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I don't know why, but it's out there in Lawrence.
- 22:47Speaker 3: I like Lance Leopold.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I think he's a really good coach, but, more importantly, I don't like Bert Belemus.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I know, but I'm gonna go against you again.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I think the Alina I travel and get this one.
- 23:00Speaker 1: I think he's got some big, he'll get some big guys.
- 23:04Speaker 3: They're big fan of their defensive tackles.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Coach.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Yeah, they got some dudes and I think they can disrupt and maybe get the steal, the win on the road.
- 23:11Speaker 1: So there we go, two differences.
- 23:13Speaker 1: I know I hate picking the butt head, but yeah.
- 23:19Speaker 3: He seems like he's kind of in his lane up there in Champaign man.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Yeah, well, this one is interesting.
- 23:25Speaker 1: You have the Vanderbilt Commodores going to Wake Forest, up on the hill.
- 23:32Speaker 3: And that's a sneak peek.
- 23:33Speaker 3: That's a low key, good game, man.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:38Speaker 3: What's the what's Wake?
- 23:39Speaker 1: Forest Vanderbilt's getting 11 and a half.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Vanderbilt's favored.
- 23:45Speaker 1: No, no, they're getting 11 and a half.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Okay, I'm misunderstood.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they'll definitely cover that.
- 23:52Speaker 3: You know, clark Lee is a defensive minded coach, got a little bit of experience with Dave Claus and I believe he used to work there.
- 24:00Speaker 1: They don't have Sam Hartman.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I know they don't have.
- 24:03Speaker 1: It's huge in this game last year.
- 24:04Speaker 1: They don't have Hartman.
- 24:07Speaker 3: They're not going to have Donovan Green either, so that's.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I think Vanderbilt covers.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Wake Forest wins.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I think Vanderbilt wins.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Man, go ahead and put me down on the upset there.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Oh my yeah, all right, I think they go in there and they put it on old Dave Claus, and this might be the year he takes some lumps.
- 24:29Speaker 3: I hope so, okay.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Let's go to another inter-conference matchup with.
- 24:37Speaker 1: The Washington State is hosting Wisconsin from the Big Ten.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Oh man.
- 24:44Speaker 3: That's quite a road trip.
- 24:45Speaker 3: That's Washington.
- 24:46Speaker 1: State Home underdog.
- 24:46Speaker 1: You're getting four points.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Man, I didn't even watch any of Wisconsin.
- 24:55Speaker 3: I'll go ahead and say they'll cover that.
- 24:58Speaker 3: I don't know how good Washington State is.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I just I'll go ahead, man, I'll take.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Wisconsin.
- 25:07Speaker 1: That's well tough this year.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I don't know man, I'll take Wisconsin big.
- 25:10Speaker 3: How about that?
- 25:10Speaker 1: There you go.
- 25:11Speaker 1: I like it Big Ten.
- 25:12Speaker 3: At least two touchdowns.
- 25:14Speaker 1: All right.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to go with the upset here.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Washington State All right, Home underdog.
- 25:20Speaker 1: They went out right In the Pac-12s last season.
- 25:25Speaker 1: They have like one of the best years.
- 25:27Speaker 3: It's going to be the Pac-2.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Next year.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Oh, I know it's great, the Beavers in the old.
- 25:31Speaker 1: All right, well, let's stick with the inter-conference matchups and let's stick with the home underdogs, the Beavers in the Cougars, there you go From the Pac-12.
- 25:38Speaker 1: As Oklahoma State Cowboys are coming are going to Arizona State as the favorite.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Arizona State's getting three and a half.
- 25:47Speaker 1: What do?
- 25:49Speaker 3: you got, I got Oklahoma State big, just because you know Gundy's been there for what 20 years.
- 25:55Speaker 3: It seems like I think they're a little bit better than they were last year.
- 26:00Speaker 3: They've improved a little bit.
- 26:01Speaker 3: And you know old Kenny Dillingham and he's got a rebuild project on his hands.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Yeah, he does.
- 26:07Speaker 3: You know they're starting a true freshman quarterback Rashada.
- 26:09Speaker 3: They got the win last week, but you know it was a squeaker against.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Was it Southern Utah?
- 26:15Speaker 3: Somebody like that?
- 26:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:17Speaker 3: So I think Oklahoma State comes out.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Man, you know, they may hang with them for a half, but eventually the Cowboys got to put it on.
- 26:24Speaker 1: I agree with you Um just too soon.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Oklahoma State wins and covers.
- 26:31Speaker 1: All right, let's get to the big ones.
- 26:36Speaker 3: The meat.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Oregon at Texas Tech.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Texas Tech is six and a half.
- 26:42Speaker 1: They lost at Wyoming so they're gonna be another team at home and love it.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Oregon put up 80 something, dad gun points.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Yeah, 81 points.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, bo Nix is in the midst of his Heisman campaign for this season.
- 26:59Speaker 3: What do you say?
- 27:02Speaker 3: It was six and a half.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Texas Tech has six and a half at home.
- 27:07Speaker 3: Oh man, I got Oregon covering that big time.
- 27:09Speaker 3: I do too yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Oregon's good Bo Nix is another Heisman candidate.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Yeah, and I am.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Legitimate.
- 27:15Speaker 1: The Pac-12 has some guys this year, man yeah.
- 27:19Speaker 3: They really do, dan Lanning is good.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I mean they really have some quarterbacks.
- 27:23Speaker 1: When you think of who's out in the Pac-12 this year, it is a Got some talent.
- 27:28Speaker 1: There is a quarterback league this year, heavy, heavy in the Pac-12, man, you got the Dagum Heisman winner, you got Sidorah Sanders, you got Phoenix out there and Phoenix out there in Washington, and then you have Bo Nix in Oregon.
- 27:44Speaker 1: All guys that could easily win the Heisman.
- 27:47Speaker 3: And you got guys like Cam Rising.
- 27:49Speaker 1: You know he hasn't played yet.
- 27:51Speaker 3: And younger guys, man, young guys.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Rashada, he's young, he's a five star.
- 27:55Speaker 3: He's young.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Conte Moore at UCLA, the five star from Michigan.
- 27:58Speaker 3: He hasn't played yet, but he's gonna be really good man.
- 28:03Speaker 3: That's a quarterback league out there.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Well, that's going out with a bang, I guess.
- 28:09Speaker 1: All right, well, let's move on.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I know you're excited about this game and it's Lane Kiffin.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Oh, lane In, two lane, yeah, ok, battle of the Lane Playing.
- 28:21Speaker 1: They're at two lane.
- 28:21Speaker 1: It's at two lane.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Is it in two lane or they're not playing it in the Superdome or anything like that.
- 28:26Speaker 3: It's actually on their stadium.
- 28:28Speaker 3: In their stadium I mean, yeah, ok, I'm going to pick them to pull it off.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Man, michael Pratt, the quarterback, I mean he was nobody's talking about his performance last week because they didn't really play anybody, but he was sharp and he was a late Heisman kind of dark horse guy.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Last year, if you remember, they got a really nasty defense.
- 28:51Speaker 3: I think they're going to pull the upset.
- 28:53Speaker 3: I know Lane Kiffin, I know Ole Miss looked really good last week scoring 70 something points.
- 28:58Speaker 3: But again, that's kind of what Lane does man Teams that they can beat up on.
- 29:02Speaker 3: He'll just run it up.
- 29:04Speaker 3: I'm going to pick the green life.
- 29:06Speaker 3: I'm going to pick the yes so.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Willie Fritz to fight and fritzes man, I like it, but I'm going against you.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I think Ole Miss covers.
- 29:12Speaker 1: I think the magic ends, although two lane coming off the big win over USC and in the bowl game.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you know that's what I'm saying.
- 29:24Speaker 3: They lost that.
- 29:25Speaker 3: They lost that game, that they can that running back spears.
- 29:27Speaker 1: You can go in the now to the US Down in the SEC and you beat Lane Kiffin.
- 29:33Speaker 1: That's a statement when right there for that program.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Oh, that's a huge win, huge win coming off what you did last year.
- 29:39Speaker 1: That's a big game.
- 29:41Speaker 1: We're looking forward to that one.
- 29:44Speaker 1: All right, let's go to where game day will be.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, tuscaloosa.
- 29:54Speaker 1: And let's before.
- 29:55Speaker 1: We're going to talk about Florida State after that, but let's pick that game Alabama.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:03Speaker 1: It's giving Texas a touchdown.
- 30:07Speaker 3: OK, well, I don't know if Jaylen Key is going to play.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Seven and an extra point.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll go ahead.
- 30:15Speaker 3: I'm you know what I'm going to pick Alabama to cover that.
- 30:18Speaker 3: I'm not a believer in Steve Sarkesian, but I will tell you that if those two starters are out in the secondary, all bets are off man.
- 30:31Speaker 3: You know, it could be a lot like it was last season.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Well, last year they got a quarterback guy hurt but Alabama got bailed out with a terrible call.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I think this is the year.
- 30:43Speaker 3: I think and last year that you know they don't have Bryce Young.
- 30:45Speaker 1: I know the guy looked good in the first Texas needs to do a good job of protecting, though they can't let the quarterback get hit and fumble and allow easy scores like that.
- 30:54Speaker 1: If they can do that, I think they upset Kermit and Tide.
- 30:58Speaker 2: I'm picking, I think they do.
- 31:00Speaker 3: This is kind of the story of Texas my fingers, yeah.
- 31:02Speaker 3: It's like the big games they get in, and no matter the coach they get in these big games, and then they just flounder.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I think this is the year I had him.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I got him in my playoff.
- 31:11Speaker 3: You figure, they got to do it eventually.
- 31:13Speaker 1: This is.
- 31:13Speaker 1: They're going to get blown out, but I'm picking Texas.
- 31:16Speaker 3: We'll see.
- 31:17Speaker 1: You got Alabama.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they're going to cover man.
- 31:19Speaker 3: I think they'll just run the ball down Texas's throat.
- 31:23Speaker 1: All right, let's talk Florida State, let's do it.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Wow, what a game.
- 31:28Speaker 1: What a game.
- 31:29Speaker 1: A lot of recruits.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Kitty pool moon was yeah, it was on the scene, man, it was a when, at 65, I think the the count was like an official number or something like that, but it was man I.
- 31:42Speaker 3: I don't think they could have done better had it been a home game with a bunch of official visitor, I mean this one around the state for multiple classes, like it had an effect.
- 31:52Speaker 3: So it was huge.
- 31:55Speaker 3: It was huge, man, it was huge.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you had guys all up and down term of the blue chip kids too.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it did.
- 32:02Speaker 3: You know, out of the 65 kids, I'd say probably 90 percent of them were blue chipped.
- 32:07Speaker 3: You had guys from the 24 class all the way to the 27 class.
- 32:12Speaker 3: So it's it was impactful.
- 32:15Speaker 3: I think really, if you had to narrow it down into what, what you?
- 32:20Speaker 3: For me personally, there's one kid, lawall McCray Jr.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Lj McCray, defensive lineman out of Daytona Beach.
- 32:26Speaker 3: Florida State really was kind of just, you know, running fourth or fifth for this kid.
- 32:33Speaker 3: He's unquestionably the top defensive lineman on the board left for the 24 class.
- 32:38Speaker 3: I think you know they threw their hat back in the ring here with that one game.
- 32:43Speaker 3: I think they're going to be somebody that's in the thick of it until he makes his decision, and that's huge.
- 32:49Speaker 3: His dad is the as a coach at the Thun Cookman has been for, you know, 20, 25 years.
- 32:54Speaker 3: So O'Dell Higgins has known, you know, this kid for a while.
- 32:59Speaker 3: I think Florida State's kind of been in it just based off that prior relationship.
- 33:04Speaker 3: But now there's actually starting to be some serious consideration from that, you know, from his side of the things that for me that's the biggest one there's.
- 33:15Speaker 3: If you just get in it with that kid, potentially sign him for this class.
- 33:19Speaker 3: That's huge.
- 33:21Speaker 3: And you get into other classes, man, a kid, class of 25, kid, armando Blunt.
- 33:26Speaker 3: He may be the top defensive lineman in the state when it's all said and done, huge, huge impact on him.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Like you know, you read anything, any articles, the kids, all positive, and even through the back channels, man, it really it started opening some eyes and eyes.
- 33:42Speaker 3: This was a huge win for Florida State.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Yeah, man, it's.
- 33:47Speaker 1: It's got the line at 31.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Now for the home opener against the.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
- 33:54Speaker 1: This is a game that Southern Miss has circled on their schedule.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Yeah, what did?
- 33:58Speaker 3: What did Coach Wilhall say the best team he's ever coached?
- 34:01Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not.
- 34:02Speaker 1: He's not making any yeah he's not.
- 34:04Speaker 3: He's not, he's not giving any bulletin board material.
- 34:07Speaker 3: Man Right, he's going to gas us up.
- 34:09Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 34:11Speaker 3: 31 points is a lot, that is a lot.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Frank Gore Jr still running the ball for them Like a kick in play.
- 34:18Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 34:20Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 34:21Speaker 3: I'd rather it just be, you know, decided in the first half.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Oh, it will be, instead of like worrying about how many points we end up it will be this team's hungry.
- 34:31Speaker 1: I think they cover.
- 34:32Speaker 1: I think they come out.
- 34:33Speaker 1: It's the only home game in September.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Fans are going to be rowdy again, it's a night game man, which is a different atmosphere at Doke at night.
- 34:42Speaker 1: It's going to be crazy.
- 34:44Speaker 1: People are just so hungry.
- 34:46Speaker 1: This team is just wants to perform.
- 34:50Speaker 1: I mean it's hungry man, there's.
- 34:52Speaker 1: No, you have guys that haven't had a chance yet, that are hungry, who want to make plays.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I think I think they cover big.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I think they win big.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I tend to agree with you, man.
- 35:04Speaker 3: I'll go ahead and pick them to cover.
- 35:06Speaker 3: I really hope that we get to see a lot of Tate in the second half.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Oh, rodermaker, I want to see see how good he looks.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Apparently, he's going to be the next one in line.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Also, man, I did keep guys healthy.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Well, we got to get on out of here.
- 35:27Speaker 1: But yeah, speaking of Tate, I'd love to see Tate ride a magnet.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Maybe get Poitiers and catches State fur of.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Georgia.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's right, I don't know man and like yeah, poitiers, another guy that didn't get any catches.
- 35:42Speaker 1: I'd see Destin Hill get some catches, yeah this guy gets some.
- 35:44Speaker 3: I'd like to see some guys that did, and those guys gonna be hungry, maybe even run the football.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Run the football yeah.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Another thing, a lot of things to be excited about 31 points yeah, let's do it.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Let's do it.
- 35:54Speaker 3: Let's do it.
- 35:55Speaker 3: It's your one home game for the entire month.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Right, I think the fans show up.
- 36:00Speaker 1: It's going to be a good atmosphere, good football playing, being played in Tallahassee, rattlers.
- 36:08Speaker 3: I tell you what man, that's, that's right, the tally ball.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Yep, they got a streak going and they got three going to brag to.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Can't wait to get back over to brag, but they'll be down in Tampa taking on the bulls and Raymond James this week.
- 36:25Speaker 3: They're going to do it.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Sir, big recruits at the game in Orlando?
- 36:31Speaker 1: It couldn't be a.
- 36:32Speaker 1: I mean, everything's going right, so how do you respond when everybody's patting you on the back?
- 36:38Speaker 1: Just gotta keep working, man, keep doing it and I think you got the right leaders on both sides of the ball.
- 36:44Speaker 1: You have veteran dudes that.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Yeah, you're one to win.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Yeah, veterans at the, at the key positions, keep the team driven.
- 36:53Speaker 3: It really does.
- 36:54Speaker 3: It makes the difference.
- 36:55Speaker 1: And that's why I would never pick this, this team, to cover this kind of game in the past.
- 37:02Speaker 1: But man, impressive man, it looks like they've totally just got taken that next step.
- 37:09Speaker 3: That's low rebuild, that makes a transfer portal and high school kids and just you know it really is.
- 37:14Speaker 3: It's more about the mentality, the mindset, than it is where you're, where you're picking the kid from.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll see, man, it's going to be a big week.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Week two college football.
