- 0:00Speaker 1: John, Welcome to busting with the boys. As I was
- 0:02Speaker 1: sitting down, you had some very choice. I was just
- 0:04Speaker 1: kid out of nowhere.
- 0:05Speaker 2: You were ranking Texas running what he said, he said,
- 0:08Speaker 2: better than any running back that's came out of Michigan.
- 0:10Speaker 2: He said, Ricky Williams, Earl Campbell himself better than any
- 0:13Speaker 2: running by this came into Michigan.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Okay, Ricky Williams the goat smoking.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Yeah, but Earl Campbell really good ball player. And you've
- 0:22Speaker 1: had one year in the league. But I mean, we
- 0:24Speaker 1: got to but we're talking.
- 0:25Speaker 4: College I'm biased, but there's been like I mean, you
- 0:30Speaker 4: got you got.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Fifty five touchdowns. But what you say about Blake Krn's touchdowns.
- 0:36Speaker 5: No, I mean no, I mean.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Blake he's one of the best running backs COLLG football history.
- 0:42Speaker 4: I give him that, But there was a lot of
- 0:44Speaker 4: them touchdowns.
- 0:45Speaker 1: One of the best college football history. Respect him heavy,
- 0:52Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 0:52Speaker 4: I mean, you saw in the draft this year at
- 0:55Speaker 4: the first running back taking off the board was from Texas.
- 0:59Speaker 3: From Texas, how'd y'all do against Washington? How'd that go?
- 1:05Speaker 1: We handled it for you? The next week, y'all did
- 1:07Speaker 1: y'all did? We talked their business should win a national championship.
- 1:10Speaker 1: You're right, You're right, but and congratulations, thank you very much.
- 1:13Speaker 1: But yeah, we get that one next year.
- 1:17Speaker 4: I think I think we're really good even just us
- 1:20Speaker 4: going to SEC, Like, I think we have like a
- 1:22Speaker 4: really good chance of doing some good stuff.
- 1:23Speaker 5: I mean, even we got everybody coming from the portal.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Like, yeah, you guys in Ohio State, what are they
- 1:29Speaker 3: going to?
- 1:29Speaker 2: Are they going to build the couture? How is it
- 1:30Speaker 2: playing for? How is it playing for? Coach sark Man?
- 1:32Speaker 4: It was so much fun, like just having you know
- 1:35Speaker 4: him as is not necessarily a father figure but like
- 1:38Speaker 4: an older brother to come and like actually coach me
- 1:40Speaker 4: and just take me in. And what was cool is
- 1:43Speaker 4: like me and sark I was with them for the
- 1:46Speaker 4: rise of what he has now. So you know, with
- 1:49Speaker 4: like those those struggles that we went through, like that
- 1:52Speaker 4: was like what we had to go through. And now
- 1:55Speaker 4: seeing him, you know, be you know, respected around the
- 1:59Speaker 4: whole college football everybody that that knows football, like it's
- 2:02Speaker 4: pretty sick. Ain't gonna lie, but he's definitely the dude
- 2:06Speaker 4: that I respect a lot, especially for like making me
- 2:09Speaker 4: who I am today as a young man.
- 2:11Speaker 3: But I love that dude.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Man, Dude, Texas is such a dope university. We had
- 2:15Speaker 1: the opportunity to go there and check it out.
- 2:17Speaker 5: Where'd y'all go?
- 2:18Speaker 3: We went? We were warning As last spring, yep.
- 2:21Speaker 1: But the uniforms just like how everyone kind of rides
- 2:23Speaker 1: to the Longhorns there, it's a it's a university.
- 2:26Speaker 4: It's crazy and it's cool because like like Texas, like
- 2:28Speaker 4: it's not a it's not a college town, but it
- 2:32Speaker 4: feels like a college town because I bade the campuses
- 2:34Speaker 4: and then you got like downtown like five minutes away.
- 2:37Speaker 5: So I love it so much.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yeah, when you're coming up through high school, like what
- 2:42Speaker 1: what made you choose Texas?
- 2:44Speaker 4: Just just a lot of prayer, bro Like, like you know,
- 2:46Speaker 4: my faith is my big it is my biggest thing.
- 2:48Speaker 4: So I just knew like that's where God wanted me
- 2:49Speaker 4: to go. And I mean what three years later, like
- 2:53Speaker 4: he was right. But it was more so like the
- 2:56Speaker 4: coaches there. I mean I had like my first running
- 2:58Speaker 4: back coach because Drake and he he was like the
- 3:02Speaker 4: best college running back coach in the country. I mean
- 3:04Speaker 4: he had like Ezekiel Elliott at Ohio State, like he
- 3:06Speaker 4: did so many he had so many guys. So when
- 3:09Speaker 4: I went to him, it was like a no brainer.
- 3:12Speaker 4: And my first year, like it was hard. It was hard,
- 3:14Speaker 4: bro because I had I had COVID, so it was
- 3:16Speaker 4: a COVID year for me. I came in in the summer,
- 3:19Speaker 4: so I didn't have like that spring that spring development.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Yeah, but it was.
- 3:25Speaker 4: It was a good time, like just going there and
- 3:27Speaker 4: learning from him at first, and then obviously he got
- 3:29Speaker 4: a head coaching job and then.
- 3:31Speaker 3: The rest was history because any other school that came
- 3:34Speaker 3: close State. So I hate to hear this.
- 3:37Speaker 4: I hate to hear this, but like so I silently
- 3:40Speaker 4: committed to Ohio State for a week.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Silently committed for the second time we've heard that.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I know.
- 3:45Speaker 5: It's like that little yeah for a week.
- 3:47Speaker 3: I'm just letting you know, yeah, that side girl talk again.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Here, That's what it was. And it was like it
- 3:54Speaker 4: was more so. It was more so like people and
- 3:56Speaker 4: players like in my ear telling me like you got
- 3:59Speaker 4: to go here, you should go here, like we're gonna
- 4:01Speaker 4: build the dynasty here, They're gonna be amazing, which could
- 4:04Speaker 4: have been true, but I just knew, like, you know,
- 4:08Speaker 4: I could, I could really go to Texas for you know,
- 4:11Speaker 4: a forty year decision and like not just football, but
- 4:14Speaker 4: I can become somebody here and always come back here
- 4:18Speaker 4: and always like feel like this is this was always
- 4:20Speaker 4: the place for me.
- 4:21Speaker 5: And then I mean that was the main decision.
- 4:23Speaker 4: But yeah for a week, man, And I told the
- 4:25Speaker 4: coaches like that was the hardest conversation in my life.
- 4:27Speaker 3: I was gonna say, how when you decommitted? How was
- 4:29Speaker 3: it was tough?
- 4:30Speaker 4: It was tough because I called I called the coaches
- 4:34Speaker 4: and I was like, hey, look like.
- 4:38Speaker 3: For you right now, immated last Monday.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I committed on Monday. Yeah, now Saturday, And I called them.
- 4:45Speaker 4: I was like, you know, this just isn't the place
- 4:49Speaker 4: for me. Like having to say that to like a
- 4:51Speaker 4: grown man and then him be like, what are you
- 4:55Speaker 4: talking about? Like I I sent all my running backs
- 4:59Speaker 4: away like you were only one was getting only guilt trip.
- 5:02Speaker 3: It was man, it was crazy.
- 5:03Speaker 2: It's got to be a heartbreak whenever that. Yeah, because
- 5:06Speaker 2: he's a fire. I mean, he was the man.
- 5:07Speaker 3: He is the man.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, he's continued to stay yeah. Man, then they fizzle
- 5:11Speaker 1: out still staying the man.
- 5:12Speaker 5: Yeah, I appreciate it.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Yeah, Like it was just it was it was just tough,
- 5:17Speaker 4: like to have that conversation as a seventeen year old kid.
- 5:21Speaker 3: And then him going the ran you still just be like,
- 5:23Speaker 3: I know, I'm sorry. I know.
- 5:24Speaker 4: It was like I was with my family and they're
- 5:27Speaker 4: just like like get.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Him on speakerphone, Yeah, this phone, I know, coach, I'm sorry, coach.
- 5:39Speaker 2: It was the biggest position coach and knowing like who
- 5:42Speaker 2: they've mentored coach, Yes, what was the big pivotal thing
- 5:46Speaker 2: for you?
- 5:46Speaker 4: Was it that it was a position coach because it's
- 5:49Speaker 4: just like you're gonna be with him your whole time,
- 5:52Speaker 4: so I think, and he and even just talking to
- 5:54Speaker 4: like other running backs you know before before I got there,
- 5:58Speaker 4: and like Reggie Bush, like his position coach in college
- 6:02Speaker 4: was that was his guy, Like he said, this is
- 6:06Speaker 4: the position coaches was most important because if you don't
- 6:10Speaker 4: agree with him and he doesn't agree with you, then
- 6:12Speaker 4: you're not playing and he doesn't trust you. And then
- 6:16Speaker 4: he's he talks to the head coach like he's the
- 6:18Speaker 4: most important important guy for yourself. So even hearing that,
- 6:23Speaker 4: I was like, all right, so let me like actually
- 6:24Speaker 4: build a relationship. And then the crazy thing is like
- 6:28Speaker 4: nowadays in nil and stuff, Bro no, no relationships are
- 6:32Speaker 4: being built, like and then that's why you see so
- 6:35Speaker 4: many transfers and so many kids going to other places
- 6:38Speaker 4: because they're getting promised one thing and then they're not
- 6:41Speaker 4: producing on the field. So after one year and not
- 6:44Speaker 4: even after one year, after one some like like spring semester,
- 6:49Speaker 4: like they're leaving and I'm like, bro, Like, first of all,
- 6:53Speaker 4: it looks bad in my opinion, but it's like you
- 6:57Speaker 4: should have been building that relationship with the coach and
- 7:00Speaker 4: knowing you can have that trust with him before you
- 7:02Speaker 4: even get there, so you understand that when you're there,
- 7:05Speaker 4: like you know what's gonna come, you know what's about
- 7:07Speaker 4: to happen beforehand. So I think that's kind of where
- 7:10Speaker 4: college football is changing. And I get it, like you
- 7:12Speaker 4: got to make your money and stuff.
- 7:13Speaker 3: No, not thinking too much long term, thinking like what
- 7:15Speaker 3: did I get here?
- 7:16Speaker 2: Now?
- 7:16Speaker 3: Exactly did you ever get tempted by some pre in
- 7:19Speaker 3: I L in I L.
- 7:20Speaker 5: I never did never once.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Say names, yeah pre and iol.
- 7:28Speaker 4: I didn't have but I didn't have it. I didn't
- 7:30Speaker 4: have an IO when I came. I know, so like
- 7:32Speaker 4: even like the under the table stuff, like it just
- 7:36Speaker 4: never came across an don't name names. Did anybody ever
- 7:39Speaker 4: try under the table stuff? And then they tried, they
- 7:43Speaker 4: tried with my coach, my high school coach, and he
- 7:46Speaker 4: was like, nah, like this isn't who like this is
- 7:49Speaker 4: you got the wrong kid? Like he's not going to
- 7:51Speaker 4: come here off of begging or off of trying to
- 7:54Speaker 4: get him with some money.
- 7:57Speaker 5: So that he that that all got sent away.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Arizona man.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Top five what that's the top five football.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Stay Taylor in the country. It is? Come on, are
- 8:11Speaker 3: you from in Arizona?
- 8:12Speaker 5: Tucson, Arizona?
- 8:14Speaker 3: You A give you any interest? Zero? None?
- 8:19Speaker 5: Like you have a you have a a s U.
- 8:21Speaker 3: No a s U over U of A though.
- 8:25Speaker 5: Like you like I feel like if a s.
- 8:27Speaker 4: U was was a consistently really good team, like they
- 8:32Speaker 4: would get everybody.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Because the thing that's wild to me about as U
- 8:36Speaker 1: is like they have all the makings to have a
- 8:38Speaker 1: good team. They have great weather, beautiful people. There, there's
- 8:40Speaker 1: a lot of nightlife you can just bring like, hey, yo,
- 8:43Speaker 1: we can create something beautiful. And you have so much fun.
- 8:46Speaker 3: That's to say, so much money in Phoenix, so.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Much you have and you have all these different areas
- 8:50Speaker 4: like sponsors that will sponsor you, but I.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Don't know it was never you talk about building relationships
- 8:57Speaker 1: and how it's become way more transactional in college coming
- 8:59Speaker 1: in the NFL. This is truly where it's a transactional business.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Like you can what's the phrase you use, you love
- 9:04Speaker 1: me but don't trust me? Yeah, yeah, I love you,
- 9:07Speaker 1: but don't ever trust me. Right, that's the kind of
- 9:09Speaker 1: the mindset of all these coaches. They want to build
- 9:10Speaker 1: a relationship. At any point. If you're not doing your job,
- 9:13Speaker 1: we'll see you later, no doubt.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Do you Are you aware.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Of that and still continue to build relationships regardless, Yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 4: I'm definitely. I'm definitely aware of it. You know, I've
- 9:21Speaker 4: seen that firsthand, Like you know, guys have been here
- 9:25Speaker 4: and then next day, like they're not here anymore. And
- 9:28Speaker 4: like my freshman, my freshman, my first year last year,
- 9:32Speaker 4: you know, just just during reco MINTI camp, like I
- 9:35Speaker 4: was with so many guys up to that point, and
- 9:38Speaker 4: then when we start with the team, then a lot
- 9:41Speaker 4: of them are here and it was like it was
- 9:43Speaker 4: like a shock to me. I was like, it's crazy.
- 9:45Speaker 4: I just built a relationship with these kids, like with
- 9:47Speaker 4: these dudes, and then now they're not here no more,
- 9:50Speaker 4: and it's like, okay, so now you kind of see
- 9:53Speaker 4: like where the business is. And then even even like
- 9:56Speaker 4: coaches too, next day they're here, one day they or not.
- 10:01Speaker 4: And I'm like, right, like this whole time we've been gelling.
- 10:05Speaker 4: And but I see it, like like that statement right there,
- 10:09Speaker 4: I feel it's true. But for me, I think it's
- 10:11Speaker 4: still important to you know, build a relationship with those
- 10:14Speaker 4: coaches because you know, like I was just telling him,
- 10:17Speaker 4: like like Lord Willing, I could stay here in my
- 10:19Speaker 4: whole career, but say I'm not, and say those coaches
- 10:22Speaker 4: are somewhere else, Like you built those relationships so like
- 10:25Speaker 4: they trust you, so when you're somewhere else and they're
- 10:28Speaker 4: somewhere else, then they'll then they'll.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Like bouch out for you and pick you up. Right.
- 10:32Speaker 4: So that's why I think it's like, that's why I
- 10:34Speaker 4: think you should keep keep the relationship out the whole time.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Talk Talk Talk Us through your rookie year.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I listen to your podcast you did on the Pivot,
- 10:41Speaker 2: which is right before the drafty you do go the
- 10:43Speaker 2: first round, which is awesome, and talk about that process
- 10:47Speaker 2: getting draft in the first round and then kicking off
- 10:49Speaker 2: your rookie year.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Yeah, man, I mean so so during that process, Like
- 10:54Speaker 4: it's a long process, so just from from when I'm
- 10:58Speaker 4: done with my last year in my junior year and
- 11:01Speaker 4: then up to the draft, Like those five months, five
- 11:05Speaker 4: six months are long, and it's repetitive of talking to coaches, going.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Doing combined training, doing interview training.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Like I'm doing so many things and.
- 11:19Speaker 5: For me, like I love to do other stuff.
- 11:21Speaker 4: So I want to be an actor when I'm done
- 11:23Speaker 4: playing football one day. And I've been doing like acting classes,
- 11:26Speaker 4: but that's those acting classes have been helping for the
- 11:29Speaker 4: interview training because like it gets you comfortable and talking
- 11:33Speaker 4: to coaches and get you comfortable and being in different
- 11:35Speaker 4: areas with a lot of people in one setting. So
- 11:38Speaker 4: like me having to go through that was was alarm process.
- 11:43Speaker 4: But and then on top of that, like I was
- 11:45Speaker 4: in the controversy of should you take a running back
- 11:48Speaker 4: in the top ten, Like yeah, should you you know, yes,
- 11:51Speaker 4: you know, he might have the talent, he might be
- 11:53Speaker 4: the most talented, but like should you still do it?
- 11:56Speaker 5: Should you invest in it?
- 11:58Speaker 4: So I was like hearing all that type of stuff too,
- 12:01Speaker 4: and like it was it was weird because like some
- 12:03Speaker 4: days I'll be walking walking just on the street and
- 12:08Speaker 4: you see a TV in a restaurant and it's like
- 12:10Speaker 4: your face is the one that's up there on like
- 12:12Speaker 4: should you do this?
- 12:13Speaker 3: Should you do that?
- 12:14Speaker 4: I'm like, and then that's the questions that I've been
- 12:16Speaker 4: getting asked. So like that was like a definitely a
- 12:20Speaker 4: different process for me. But I think when you do
- 12:24Speaker 4: get drafted, like that was, it's like the best frienally
- 12:27Speaker 4: ever obviously, and going to the draft like experiencing that,
- 12:31Speaker 4: you know, if you have the opportunity to do that,
- 12:33Speaker 4: I think you you most definitely should as a player.
- 12:36Speaker 4: But then when I got here, you know, that's when
- 12:40Speaker 4: we started started rookie mini camp and like that's what's
- 12:44Speaker 4: about to happen right now here, and it's crazy, like
- 12:47Speaker 4: that was a year ago, but like that was I
- 12:50Speaker 4: think that was like a really great process for me,
- 12:52Speaker 4: rooky mini camp because for me, like, yeah, I play more.
- 12:55Speaker 4: I played running back, but I play other positions too,
- 12:58Speaker 4: Like I play receiver, play slot. You can line me
- 12:59Speaker 4: up anywhere. So like I really appreciate, you know, Arthur
- 13:03Speaker 4: Smith for doing that to me, because you know, with
- 13:07Speaker 4: him with him doing that for me, like now where
- 13:10Speaker 4: I'm at, the game just like slowed down so much,
- 13:14Speaker 4: like instantly because I'm learning so many different things, Yeah,
- 13:18Speaker 4: from linebackers to coverages to everything. So and then obviously
- 13:23Speaker 4: with the season, like yes, it was definitely a blessing
- 13:26Speaker 4: of a season, you know, for myself, but even just learning,
- 13:30Speaker 4: you know, how guys are, how coaches are, like, it.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Was, it was definitely a fun a fun, fun time
- 13:35Speaker 5: for me.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Was it the hardest thing for you was the speed
- 13:37Speaker 1: of the game at first? Or what was the biggest
- 13:39Speaker 1: culture shock for you diving to the NFL your first
- 13:41Speaker 1: couple of games.
- 13:42Speaker 4: Yeah, so it wasn't really the speed of the game,
- 13:45Speaker 4: because dudes are a little faster than college. But I
- 13:49Speaker 4: think it was more so like dudes are smarter in
- 13:52Speaker 4: the league, So like you're not going to see a
- 13:54Speaker 4: lot of guys like miss their gaps. You're not gonna
- 13:57Speaker 4: see a lot of guys under pursuit, and dudes are
- 14:02Speaker 4: always chasing the ball somewhere somehow. But I think you know,
- 14:06Speaker 4: when you when you get a grasp of it and
- 14:08Speaker 4: understand it, then then y'all you'll start to click. But
- 14:12Speaker 4: when you find your rhythm then then it's like you're
- 14:15Speaker 4: playing collegeball game.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Yeah, when that camerangle came out, you're shifting around and
- 14:20Speaker 2: that shit was nasty.
- 14:21Speaker 4: Yeah, and for me, So for me, like in college,
- 14:25Speaker 4: like I would bring out the shifts and stuff sometimes,
- 14:28Speaker 4: but like not a lot. But I think I think
- 14:32Speaker 4: now in the NFL it gives me way more freedom
- 14:35Speaker 4: to do that because dudes are coming from different angles
- 14:39Speaker 4: in different areas and you're always trying to get yards,
- 14:42Speaker 4: but you're always trying to find a way to like
- 14:44Speaker 4: make somebody miss because somebody's always right here.
- 14:46Speaker 3: So I get to like.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Obviously just slow a process down that I can.
- 14:52Speaker 4: I'll feel a defender coming any which way, and then
- 14:56Speaker 4: I know I have to do something real quick because
- 14:58Speaker 4: if I don't, like they're going to make a tackle.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:01Speaker 4: So like breaking tackles for me is like it's a
- 15:04Speaker 4: fun thing, which is interesting.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Breaking tackle is a fun thing. Absolutely.
- 15:09Speaker 2: It's fascinating to hear him talk about it because it's
- 15:10Speaker 2: it's like clearly he's like, I've added more shift shiftingess
- 15:14Speaker 2: to my game. But basically because the game has gotten faster,
- 15:16Speaker 2: he's developed quicker.
- 15:18Speaker 5: There is That's exactly it.
- 15:20Speaker 4: So, like, because the game's gotten faster, like I have
- 15:23Speaker 4: to get faster in my process and.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Just set your head.
- 15:26Speaker 2: I'm going to get faster, and well even his instincts
- 15:28Speaker 2: it ends up coming.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like it's like you're in the I don't
- 15:33Speaker 4: even know how to explain it if you could, if
- 15:35Speaker 4: I if I, if I could, It's like you're in a.
- 15:39Speaker 5: I havent seen a John Wick?
- 15:41Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you have seen John Wick? Yeah? Yeah, yeah.
- 15:43Speaker 4: So there's like the scene and like John wait two
- 15:46Speaker 4: and like they were all surrounded him and he was
- 15:49Speaker 4: just like looking around like trying to find anything, but
- 15:51Speaker 4: they were all attacking him. But like that's kind of
- 15:53Speaker 4: like what you're in when you're going up against and
- 15:56Speaker 4: you're figuring it out. You're figuring it out, just feeling
- 15:58Speaker 4: one thing to the next and versus fast. But then
- 16:01Speaker 4: when it slows down then it's like then that's when
- 16:04Speaker 4: it gets dangerous.
- 16:05Speaker 3: John Wick or Jason Bourne Wick.
- 16:07Speaker 5: Have you seen Jason?
- 16:09Speaker 3: I have? I have?
- 16:10Speaker 5: I have seen them all.
- 16:11Speaker 4: I haven't seen him, but okay, that's right, Okay, I
- 16:13Speaker 4: can't say I can't say that if I haven't seen
- 16:15Speaker 4: them all.
- 16:15Speaker 3: You can stand on business. I'm whatever you want.
- 16:18Speaker 1: I'm glad to have your opinion on busting with the boys. Yea,
- 16:22Speaker 1: who in a straight fight? John Wick is like, never
- 16:25Speaker 1: lost to me. He actually loses frequently.
- 16:27Speaker 3: He does.
- 16:28Speaker 1: He does frequently, gets a lot of help, but he.
- 16:30Speaker 5: Loses in a way that he looked like he won.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Like he does.
- 16:37Speaker 3: He does.
- 16:38Speaker 1: You got to go back and wants to Jason Bourde movies.
- 16:40Speaker 1: He never actually gets his ass beat. There's not one
- 16:43Speaker 1: scene he's like that tactical. He's always one step ahead
- 16:46Speaker 1: of the game. John Wick. How many times in those
- 16:48Speaker 1: movies JP was he just his ass was saved?
- 16:53Speaker 3: The last movie he's going up those damn stairs.
- 16:54Speaker 1: He gets his ass kicks seventeen times and gets his
- 16:56Speaker 1: ass saved.
- 16:57Speaker 5: It's great, but it's a great movie.
- 17:00Speaker 3: No we did it. You talk about like things clicking
- 17:03Speaker 3: for you.
- 17:04Speaker 1: At what point the season last year, we're like, okay,
- 17:06Speaker 1: like I'm officially finding my speed. Rob is to touch
- 17:09Speaker 1: above everybody else.
- 17:11Speaker 4: So that first game of the season, I like had
- 17:16Speaker 4: this touchdown and when my first touchdown, like I made
- 17:19Speaker 4: this move and broke a couple of tackles. At that point,
- 17:23Speaker 4: I was like, oh shoot, like I could do this,
- 17:26Speaker 4: like at a high level but then the second game
- 17:29Speaker 4: we played the Packers, and like I walked on the
- 17:33Speaker 4: field and obviously like God gifted me with talent and everything,
- 17:38Speaker 4: but then it's like you walk on the field and
- 17:41Speaker 4: like everything's just slowing down. It's like slow motion, and
- 17:45Speaker 4: like I'm in the huddle, and when I like break
- 17:48Speaker 4: the huddle, it's like I'm backing up and they're like
- 17:50Speaker 4: moving slow.
- 17:52Speaker 3: It's like some it's insane.
- 17:54Speaker 4: And so when I when the ball snaps, like I'm
- 17:57Speaker 4: anticipating everything like quick quick, and I mean, that was
- 18:03Speaker 4: an awesome game, but it was just like the and
- 18:05Speaker 4: I never even explained this, but it was just like
- 18:07Speaker 4: the process of like what I was processing during that
- 18:09Speaker 4: game and then the rest of the season.
- 18:12Speaker 3: It was something that like I was like, man, this
- 18:15Speaker 3: is pretty cool.
- 18:16Speaker 4: And obviously like you got to watch a lot of
- 18:17Speaker 4: film and that's all that film study and everything like
- 18:20Speaker 4: that to anticipate everything, but actually like feeling it and
- 18:24Speaker 4: seeing it that fast, it was pretty It was pretty.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Dope last year, Like on the outside looking in, I
- 18:29Speaker 2: want to say it was maybe the middle of the year.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Your workload would shift around and I feel like Coach
- 18:35Speaker 2: Smith would get questioned about it and wouldn't say too
- 18:37Speaker 2: much about anything happening behind the scenes or wouldn't really
- 18:40Speaker 2: tip off anything that's going on. Is there anything that
- 18:43Speaker 2: was happening in the middle of the year to where
- 18:45Speaker 2: your workload was shifting or to where you're hearing the
- 18:49Speaker 2: same stuff the external noise and whatever conversations you're having
- 18:52Speaker 2: with coach smiss behind closed doors, like you know, people
- 18:55Speaker 2: who are curious about what was going down last year?
- 18:58Speaker 2: Is there any insight to that? Yes, Oh, it was
- 19:01Speaker 2: more so of me hearing the external noise. And like,
- 19:04Speaker 2: you know, fantasy football is a big thing.
- 19:07Speaker 3: It's so like I had you, I had.
- 19:10Speaker 4: So like a lot of people had me on their
- 19:11Speaker 4: fantasy team, so we would get lot of your ms.
- 19:17Speaker 4: But yeah, like here in the middle of the season,
- 19:19Speaker 4: you know, so so Coch Smith was you know trying
- 19:21Speaker 4: to you know, make me comfortable in the game and
- 19:26Speaker 4: make me comfortable with situations, and you know he was
- 19:30Speaker 4: just you know, trying to protect me and do what
- 19:32Speaker 4: every coach like because what Coach Smith didn't want to
- 19:35Speaker 4: do was was Derrick Henry me year one, like twenty
- 19:40Speaker 4: eight carries, twenty five carries, Like you're taking all this
- 19:42Speaker 4: workload year one because he was trying to like gradually
- 19:46Speaker 4: get me, get me ready to eventually do all that
- 19:50Speaker 4: type of stuff.
- 19:51Speaker 3: But probably from all over the field.
- 19:53Speaker 4: You're right, and like at the be end of the season,
- 19:56Speaker 4: like those first five games, like it was I was
- 19:58Speaker 4: like rolling, and then like in the in the middle
- 20:02Speaker 4: of the season, it was more so, okay, it's like
- 20:05Speaker 4: let's get him, let's get him back to like gradually
- 20:08Speaker 4: kind of you know, getting them right.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Were you injured, Whe's there stuff going on towards saying, hey,
- 20:14Speaker 2: we want to Okay, I know we're we're picking up
- 20:16Speaker 2: your workload, like let's kind of maybe mitigate some of
- 20:18Speaker 2: the reps in the middle of the year and start
- 20:20Speaker 2: to make a run at the end of the year.
- 20:21Speaker 4: So yeah, but it was that, but it wasn't like
- 20:23Speaker 4: because of the injury and at the same time, like
- 20:25Speaker 4: my workload was becoming excessive, and you know, I was
- 20:30Speaker 4: I was running go routes, I was motioning, I was
- 20:33Speaker 4: doing all types of stuff, running the football, blocking in
- 20:37Speaker 4: on third down. And you know, for me, like we
- 20:41Speaker 4: have Tyler Algiers, he's the other running back, he's super good,
- 20:45Speaker 4: and you know, we played off each other really well,
- 20:48Speaker 4: and which obviously helped both of us a lot, but
- 20:52Speaker 4: you know, it was more so like doing all those
- 20:54Speaker 4: extra things to to be the decoy for the defense,
- 20:58Speaker 4: you know, because if I go on motion and then
- 21:00Speaker 4: that everybody is up, yeah, then it would shift on
- 21:03Speaker 4: the defense and it could open somebody else up. So
- 21:06Speaker 4: like that was that was where his thinking was. And yeah,
- 21:09Speaker 4: it you know, my worklow wasn't a lot like it.
- 21:11Speaker 4: It would decrease in terms of like getting carries and stuff,
- 21:16Speaker 4: but he was just trying to, you know, gradually get
- 21:18Speaker 4: me right in different situations. Because obviously like towards the
- 21:21Speaker 4: end of the season and then it started picking up again,
- 21:23Speaker 4: but it was just at like the middle point of
- 21:25Speaker 4: the season.
- 21:27Speaker 3: That that's where his and that's where his mind was at.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Now are you guys talking through this wall. It's all
- 21:31Speaker 3: going down as yah.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Yeah, like we're all we were always on the same page.
- 21:35Speaker 4: We're always on the same page. Obviously everybody else didn't
- 21:38Speaker 4: agree with it, but we always knew, you know, what
- 21:41Speaker 4: the plan was. And he told me what the plan
- 21:43Speaker 4: was before the season even started, and I was perfectly
- 21:46Speaker 4: okay with it, but and everybody was. But I mean,
- 21:50Speaker 4: as you start getting questions from the media, and as
- 21:53Speaker 4: you start going on like there it is, yeah, there
- 21:57Speaker 4: it is. And then you have you have fantasy you
- 22:00Speaker 4: know players, you know, and on social media like what's
- 22:03Speaker 4: going on?
- 22:04Speaker 5: What was happening?
- 22:05Speaker 3: Like, so it.
- 22:06Speaker 4: All tied in, but we were always like on the
- 22:10Speaker 4: same page. And then towards the end of the season,
- 22:12Speaker 4: that's what everything started to pay back up.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Yeah, when you uh, when this is all going down
- 22:16Speaker 1: and like you're getting this heavy workload. Then towards like
- 22:18Speaker 1: the middle lull, Yeah, everyone started to ask questions. At
- 22:21Speaker 1: any point, did you want to be like, hey, this
- 22:23Speaker 1: is part of the plan. Did you ever want to
- 22:24Speaker 1: speak up for that situation or you just kind of
- 22:26Speaker 1: had to sit back and let the noise be noise.
- 22:28Speaker 4: I just kind of sat back and let let the
- 22:30Speaker 4: noise be noise, and you know, yeah, I'll get media
- 22:33Speaker 4: questions from the media, and I was just kind of
- 22:35Speaker 4: tell them like like you just said, like you know,
- 22:37Speaker 4: this is all part of the process. You know, this
- 22:39Speaker 4: all guy's plan, like which it was like and just
- 22:42Speaker 4: for me just understanding mentally and physically where where I
- 22:45Speaker 4: was at. But then you know, when when when things
- 22:50Speaker 4: did start you know, picking up. Then then we saw
- 22:54Speaker 4: the end the vision of it. But that middle like
- 22:57Speaker 4: three four weeks, it was like yeah, like what's happening,
- 23:02Speaker 4: and but we we knew the whole time, like where
- 23:05Speaker 4: we were going with it.
- 23:07Speaker 2: What kind of jump do you see yourself making going
- 23:08Speaker 2: into year two? Like what are your what are your
- 23:10Speaker 2: goals and aspirations for b Jhon Robinson?
- 23:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, obviously, Bro like to to elevate as
- 23:16Speaker 4: a teammate. So I want to be like I want
- 23:19Speaker 4: to leave by example in a way that you know,
- 23:21Speaker 4: everybody will be on the same page, you know what
- 23:23Speaker 4: I'm doing, and you know, for me, I think it
- 23:26Speaker 4: was really good to have, you know, the vets that
- 23:28Speaker 4: we did have last year, because I learned so much
- 23:30Speaker 4: from them. Like even like Kalays Campbell like Bro, like
- 23:33Speaker 4: he's ultimately he's got that voice too, got that voice.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Yeah. He would just sit down with me, Like he
- 23:39Speaker 4: sat down with me at the end of the season
- 23:41Speaker 4: and he was like, yo, be like you can really
- 23:42Speaker 4: be the best running back in the NFL for a
- 23:44Speaker 4: long time, Bro, And he was saying, but you shouldn't
- 23:47Speaker 4: go in every day saying that like you obviously you're
- 23:51Speaker 4: very humble, but you should. You should just do it
- 23:53Speaker 4: by your work and just show everybody because for me,
- 23:57Speaker 4: like I'm big with finishing, so like after a run,
- 23:59Speaker 4: I finished always in the end zone. Sometimes coaches hate that,
- 24:02Speaker 4: but you know my coaches like are cool, like they
- 24:04Speaker 4: love it because it shows everybody else like that's what
- 24:07Speaker 4: we got to do. And you know, for me, I
- 24:09Speaker 4: think just me doing that type of stuff in practice
- 24:12Speaker 4: and you know, even just asking questions to other players
- 24:16Speaker 4: on what their goals are and where they want to
- 24:18Speaker 4: see each other because obviously I think as a team,
- 24:22Speaker 4: you know, we want to win the super Bowl, like
- 24:24Speaker 4: like but that's what everybody says, Like everybody's like we
- 24:27Speaker 4: want to win super Bowl.
- 24:28Speaker 5: We want super Bowl. But it's like what are you
- 24:29Speaker 5: going to do?
- 24:30Speaker 4: You know as a team, you know, and when nobody's watching,
- 24:34Speaker 4: and you know, I think team dinners like stuff like
- 24:37Speaker 4: that are always a big thing because you build so
- 24:39Speaker 4: much chemistry. And that's why I appreciate like even Kirk,
- 24:42Speaker 4: because we be out there, you know, grinding every single
- 24:46Speaker 4: day on offense, like trying to just build the most
- 24:48Speaker 4: chemistry because obviously we're on the field, then that's what
- 24:52Speaker 4: what we're trying to do is be great and then
- 24:54Speaker 4: for me, like, yeah, obviously I have these goals that
- 24:56Speaker 4: I that I set for myself, and I set stronomical goals,
- 25:02Speaker 4: like I think I even said an interview that I
- 25:04Speaker 4: want to get two thousand yards, but like it wasn't
- 25:06Speaker 4: me saying that. It was just the goal I have
- 25:09Speaker 4: to set for myself because obviously, like we have Tyler
- 25:11Speaker 4: al Jerry, like we have you know that one two punch,
- 25:15Speaker 4: and I just want us to just kill the.
- 25:18Speaker 2: You're not saying it to diminish anything else. You're saying like, yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 2: I'm trying to get two.
- 25:21Speaker 3: K facts facts, So you can take that and run
- 25:24Speaker 3: with that quite a bit.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, with uh you brought up Kirk cousins, like
- 25:28Speaker 1: what was your reaction when Atlanta signed Kirk and how
- 25:31Speaker 1: has your relationship grown since.
- 25:32Speaker 3: You've met him? Man? I mean I was happy.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Man, I was happy, you know, just because like, yeah,
- 25:38Speaker 4: I mean I feel like, yeah, he is a top
- 25:39Speaker 4: ten quarterback. But you know, I think because you know,
- 25:42Speaker 4: with his faith, just how good of a dude he
- 25:44Speaker 4: is to other people, to his teammates.
- 25:49Speaker 5: That's why I was excited, Like I knew he can.
- 25:51Speaker 4: Come in here and you know, Joe right away with
- 25:54Speaker 4: all of us because you know, I think the cool
- 25:56Speaker 4: thing that Terry obviously Raheem, Arthur Blank, Arthur Smith, what
- 26:01Speaker 4: they all did is like they got really talented dudes,
- 26:03Speaker 4: but they got really good dudes at the same time.
- 26:06Speaker 4: And obviously he's a good dude. So I think he
- 26:09Speaker 4: would come in here and you know, immediately like Joe
- 26:13Speaker 4: with the team, and that's that's really what he did.
- 26:15Speaker 4: And I mean our relationship is strong already, and you know,
- 26:18Speaker 4: just having talks with him and understanding like where his
- 26:21Speaker 4: his vision is and you know where he's coming from
- 26:24Speaker 4: and how you know, he wants everybody on the offense
- 26:27Speaker 4: to you know, have the best seasons that they've ever had.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Like that's that's huge for a quarterback coming in because obviously,
- 26:35Speaker 4: you know, when you're a quarterback, like you know, you
- 26:37Speaker 4: want that like.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Me, me me type of glory.
- 26:40Speaker 4: But with him, it's like it's all of us and
- 26:42Speaker 4: we're off on the eat in this offense.
- 26:44Speaker 2: He's a worker tothing else, even a meeting proven meetings, like.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Like he's telling you exactly how he how he sees it,
- 26:52Speaker 4: how he wants it, how it should be and I
- 26:55Speaker 4: mean I never had that, so like having that and
- 27:00Speaker 4: even like in practice, he'd be like, this is where
- 27:03Speaker 4: where it should go. This is where how how I
- 27:06Speaker 4: see it? And he he hits it there every time
- 27:09Speaker 4: and it's like this is the game change right here.
- 27:12Speaker 3: So seen your facial expression to about Kirk.
- 27:15Speaker 5: Yeah, it's exciting. Seen crypt chains yet, like the change.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Around No, no, no, does he have the chain? Is locker?
- 27:22Speaker 5: His ultimates.
- 27:26Speaker 3: They came out yet I can't wait to put a
- 27:30Speaker 3: chain on there. You know, what what else do we
- 27:34Speaker 3: have for Bjeon?
- 27:35Speaker 2: I got I got one. Hey, the Bjon Mustards and
- 27:38Speaker 2: the mustard. Let's talk about the brand of the mustard.
- 27:41Speaker 4: Yeah, so the mustard came out like two years ago,
- 27:45Speaker 4: and you know, it was all it was all from
- 27:47Speaker 4: like an idea of two guys, David and Craig. They
- 27:50Speaker 4: are the other owners of the mustard too, and they
- 27:53Speaker 4: came with this like whole presentation of like.
- 27:57Speaker 5: What it it's going to become, like what it should be.
- 28:00Speaker 4: This is before anything, and we're like in the top
- 28:02Speaker 4: golf like meeting room. So they came with it and
- 28:07Speaker 4: at first I was like, it's kind of cheesy. Lokey
- 28:11Speaker 4: like you know that, you know this is a little weird,
- 28:14Speaker 4: but uh like they had like billboards and like murals
- 28:17Speaker 4: and they had like it's selling in stores, and I
- 28:21Speaker 4: was like, yeah, this sounds really good, but I mean
- 28:24Speaker 4: I just don't know how it's gonna be, so like.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Is it gonna sell?
- 28:27Speaker 5: It's gonna sell.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:28Speaker 4: So the two months later it came out in that summer,
- 28:33Speaker 4: and you know, it was like a big thing, like
- 28:36Speaker 4: the pr and everything, and people were like like this
- 28:39Speaker 4: dude has his own mustard. Like that's kind of where
- 28:41Speaker 4: it was at first, and so people started buying it
- 28:43Speaker 4: online and then like a whole bunch of people like
- 28:47Speaker 4: we saw we saw an order cell from like a
- 28:50Speaker 4: little bit to like it just skyrocketed out of the blue.
- 28:54Speaker 5: And so we like made merch we.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Made all types of stuff, and I think the first
- 28:59Speaker 4: six once it was out and it was during that
- 29:02Speaker 4: football season, it was like the highest selling condiment in
- 29:06Speaker 4: the US.
- 29:07Speaker 5: What congrats on that.
- 29:09Speaker 3: It was pretty cool.
- 29:10Speaker 1: That's a big game too. Some big dogs in that game, Hines, Yeah, big,
- 29:15Speaker 1: some big dogs.
- 29:17Speaker 4: And it's crazy because you know, even even in like
- 29:20Speaker 4: the grocery stores, like in Austin. Obviously we're trying to
- 29:23Speaker 4: get it across the country and in every grocery store.
- 29:27Speaker 4: But like every week you'll go to the grocery store
- 29:31Speaker 4: and it's gone, and then you'll have every other condiment
- 29:34Speaker 4: still there and they're just like keep reloading it. So
- 29:38Speaker 4: and it's cool because I mean people like when they
- 29:41Speaker 4: get the mustard, like they'll like take a picture with it,
- 29:43Speaker 4: like they're like happy about it. Like you don't, You're
- 29:46Speaker 4: not going to Hines you catch up or Ruster like like.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Settle, you know, and it's like it's not cool, but.
- 29:59Speaker 4: It about to buy it up. Maybe the probably they did,
- 30:03Speaker 4: like obviously like somebody, you're open.
- 30:06Speaker 2: For business business, have you done anything creative marketing wise
- 30:11Speaker 2: yourself outside of like marketing planes, Like right now I'm
- 30:14Speaker 2: thinking to myself.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Is pretty creative. He needs to have the mustard, like you.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Know, somebody one of the equipment guys has in the bag,
- 30:19Speaker 2: but he has it out on the field. Not out
- 30:21Speaker 2: on the field, but on the sideline and after he scores,
- 30:24Speaker 2: it's like he jogs over to the sideline just takes
- 30:26Speaker 2: a shot of the mustard, which that right there is
- 30:28Speaker 2: just I mean, so there's your advertising. Yeah, if you
- 30:33Speaker 2: have water, just a bottle, you just go right back.
- 30:36Speaker 2: It's like Marshawn eating the skittles.
- 30:37Speaker 5: That's a matter of fact. Like that one's free.
- 30:40Speaker 4: We've done like marketing stuff obviously with the commercials and stuff,
- 30:45Speaker 4: but that one right there, like after a touchdown and
- 30:48Speaker 4: like somebody just throw it in the like throw it
- 30:50Speaker 4: from the crowd, like throw it at me.
- 30:52Speaker 5: You know, we can do a lot in the sideline.
- 30:54Speaker 3: Yeah, get a couple throw to the fans and let
- 30:55Speaker 3: them do it.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Let them do it, bro keep it under the goalpust
- 30:58Speaker 1: a hot dog and the mustard score touch down, put
- 31:00Speaker 1: the mustard.
- 31:00Speaker 3: On top that that would probably be a fine though.
- 31:02Speaker 1: That's all right, He's fine for sure, right on.
- 31:07Speaker 3: That's it. It's nothing.
- 31:09Speaker 1: It's a long term play you could do. So yeah,
- 31:12Speaker 1: well one hundred percent has to have the design of
- 31:15Speaker 1: your mustard.
- 31:16Speaker 4: And then we have like the mascot. We have the
- 31:17Speaker 4: mustard maskot. So yeah, so it'll be at all the games.
- 31:20Speaker 3: It's me.
- 31:22Speaker 4: On my phone like yeah, but yeah, he's just at
- 31:25Speaker 4: all the games, like at the Falcon games, like it's
- 31:28Speaker 4: in the stadium for re at Texas games, like they're
- 31:32Speaker 4: just walking around just and it's a big attraction, Like
- 31:35Speaker 4: it's pretty cool.
- 31:35Speaker 3: I can't wait for you to negotiate your second contract
- 31:37Speaker 3: to Arthur Blake and your mustard. You're going to do this.
- 31:40Speaker 1: This is the only condiment you're allowed to happen there
- 31:43Speaker 1: and he just sits there and twittles his mustache, agrees confidently,
- 31:47Speaker 1: shakes your hand. I know we're about to slow this
- 31:51Speaker 1: thing down a little bit. But and see, did you
- 31:53Speaker 1: ever play the game and loved it?
- 31:55Speaker 3: Loved it? How heartbroken are you that you're not going
- 31:58Speaker 3: to ever be at the game very much? Just missed
- 32:00Speaker 3: that time you will be I think Legends twenty five, Yeah,
- 32:05Speaker 3: that'd be cool.
- 32:07Speaker 4: But I'm heart broken bad like I was three years
- 32:10Speaker 4: two years off, two years off.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I hated to bring that up. But it is coming
- 32:14Speaker 1: out really soon, it is. And so when it comes
- 32:16Speaker 1: out there, you're gonna play July July, middle of July.
- 32:20Speaker 1: They're like announcing everything. I think next week or something.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Stuck on that game. You're a gamer. I'm a gamer.
- 32:25Speaker 1: What your game spa gamer? And after dude combo.
- 32:29Speaker 4: There it is so like I love I love FIFA
- 32:32Speaker 4: mm hmmm, I love like I love two k Maden,
- 32:35Speaker 4: I'm okay at like UFC, like that's my stuff right there.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Okay. So would you say you're the best gamer in
- 32:41Speaker 3: the locker room. Absolutely not.
- 32:43Speaker 4: There's a couple of dudes that are actually like real
- 32:46Speaker 4: like so like Coop, He's unbelievable.
- 32:54Speaker 3: I can't count. Can't count kickers. They have more time
- 32:57Speaker 3: than everybody else to do what they want. That's true.
- 33:00Speaker 4: That is true even even in college, like the kickers
- 33:02Speaker 4: were just like just way better than me for for
- 33:04Speaker 4: no reason. And I was like, come on, man, all
- 33:05Speaker 4: the games, ping pong all we had.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Kickers in college that it was like not their day
- 33:11Speaker 1: to kick. So I'd be like walking out to practice
- 33:13Speaker 1: and they'd be like, oh, we're going to the movies.
- 33:16Speaker 1: God damn it.
- 33:17Speaker 3: It was they were going to the movies. Yea Kern
- 33:21Speaker 3: and uh who was Ryan suck Up? Ryan suck Up?
- 33:26Speaker 2: And Kern would be breaking down, like we're in meetings
- 33:29Speaker 2: and they'd be breaking down golf courses. They just be
- 33:32Speaker 2: playing out golf trips and breaking down. We're going like
- 33:35Speaker 2: we have a break to go to the bathroom and stuff.
- 33:37Speaker 2: You kind of go in, hey, what do you guys
- 33:39Speaker 2: and they're like literally breaking it get like stapled papers
- 33:41Speaker 2: and everything, breaking down golf courses.
- 33:43Speaker 6: Speaking of golf, like who's your favorite golfer Tiger Woods?
- 33:47Speaker 6: All right, I'm just kidding. I don't watch enough Max
- 33:51Speaker 6: Homa Okay, oh yeah, that's that's one.
- 33:54Speaker 5: He's been on the pot.
- 33:55Speaker 2: He's one of the Scottiefer sure. Yeah, just kind of
- 33:58Speaker 2: came on. He kind of came on to the scene
- 34:00Speaker 2: this year by.
- 34:02Speaker 5: Yeah, golf, I'm not golf, but I'll watch it and
- 34:05Speaker 5: I played it.
- 34:07Speaker 1: You watch golf? Yeah, for really, you have it on
- 34:10Speaker 1: and you're like you're stuck to the TV watching watch it.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Watch get behind that man, he said he I played
- 34:16Speaker 1: on PlayStations.
- 34:17Speaker 3: And that's kind of why I watch it. Good are
- 34:20Speaker 3: you can you hoop? Nahed? I was gonna go. I
- 34:28Speaker 3: was gonna get him going. Yeah.
- 34:29Speaker 2: I mean we asked coach raw this, like who's got
- 34:33Speaker 2: the best athletes NFL or NBA?
- 34:35Speaker 3: NFL?
- 34:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I think there's no question, Like no, no NBA
- 34:43Speaker 4: player can play NFL, but no NFL player can play
- 34:46Speaker 4: in the NBA.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Oh you're trying to line down the middle. There's nowhere
- 34:49Speaker 1: to go both think so who Devin fun.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Is now jps Okay, but that's awesome, Like that's awesome
- 34:54Speaker 4: for us one in a million, like and a lot
- 34:56Speaker 4: of guys.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Michigan guy to talking on nasty about Michigan guys here,
- 34:59Speaker 1: we don't that's that's.
- 35:03Speaker 5: Great, whitcorn. No, I'm talking about the NBA.
- 35:08Speaker 1: I mean I don't watch basketball watch Actually I focus
- 35:13Speaker 1: on football. Dude're a football guy, all right? No, no, No,
- 35:18Speaker 1: offensive line we had fourteen of them in the league.
- 35:20Speaker 1: That's more than any other college. That being said, Atlanta
- 35:23Speaker 1: Falcon's office line talks to me, how awesome Jake Matthews
- 35:25Speaker 1: is He's Is.
- 35:26Speaker 3: He the longest tenured Falcon? Yeah? It is? He just
- 35:30Speaker 3: uh is it greaty?
- 35:33Speaker 5: And is he?
- 35:34Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah?
- 35:35Speaker 1: Is Jake talking about Jake's personality like your classic offensive
- 35:37Speaker 1: lineman keeps to himself.
- 35:39Speaker 4: No, no, no, he's got to like open like when
- 35:41Speaker 4: he opens up to you, like Jake's my dog. Yah,
- 35:45Speaker 4: that's my dude, man. I mean obviously all five of
- 35:48Speaker 4: them are. I mean the whole office line room is
- 35:50Speaker 4: like super dope. But like when you meet Jake, I mean,
- 35:53Speaker 4: when you know Jake, he's just like the most laid back,
- 35:56Speaker 4: chill dude, I mean talks about everything, can talk about everything,
- 36:00Speaker 4: and he's still funny, Like he still has that funny
- 36:03Speaker 4: personality side to him.
- 36:04Speaker 5: That's my dude, man, Like for a vet, that's the
- 36:08Speaker 5: what I want to have.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Can you do me a favorite? We have a segment
- 36:10Speaker 1: called Tier Talk. Yeah, and Tier Talk is basically ranking
- 36:14Speaker 1: whatever whatever the topic is. Can you tear talk me
- 36:17Speaker 1: your three favorite players on the Atlanta Falcons?
- 36:22Speaker 5: Okay, I feel like that's like a trick question.
- 36:23Speaker 3: You can give an honorable mention. You just got to answer.
- 36:26Speaker 3: It's gonna suck for you to hear this, man. I
- 36:31Speaker 3: love everybody. Started three, started three, started three. If there's
- 36:36Speaker 3: an honorable mention going and throw you in there. If
- 36:38Speaker 3: you need to take a minute too, we got we
- 36:39Speaker 3: got time. Yeah.
- 36:42Speaker 4: So number three, I'm gonna have to say matthew Ber No, no, no,
- 36:47Speaker 4: I'm playing man.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Sorry, Matt, that's gotta be tough, brother.
- 36:53Speaker 4: Okay, I'm gonna say Zach Zach Harrison number three, Matthew
- 36:59Speaker 4: Berger around number two, and then Tyler Alger number one.
- 37:05Speaker 3: No audible mention, audible mention.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Uh, the.
- 37:11Speaker 4: Rest of it, I'm gonna say, Liam, he's our long Snapper.
- 37:20Speaker 4: That's fire dude, fire dude or Jesse Bass.
- 37:25Speaker 1: I find a very interesting. Jake Matthews did not make
- 37:27Speaker 1: that after talking so nice.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Yeah, your team, your team, I am. I am close everybody.
- 37:35Speaker 2: How about your top three running backs in the NFL
- 37:38Speaker 2: right now? And if you could give a little synopsis
- 37:40Speaker 2: on what makes him great?
- 37:41Speaker 3: All right?
- 37:43Speaker 5: Then I'm I'm well, my first one.
- 37:44Speaker 4: Number one is christ McCaffrey just because, like you know,
- 37:48Speaker 4: his his stopping start is incredible, and you know, I
- 37:53Speaker 4: watch this game so much, like I compare my game
- 37:56Speaker 4: to his just the most because I feel like we
- 37:59Speaker 4: do the most similar of So I'm gonna say, I'm
- 38:01Speaker 4: gonna say him, and then I'm gonna say Brice Hall
- 38:06Speaker 4: is the other one, okay, just because like his patience,
- 38:09Speaker 4: how he you know, invades, breaking tackles, how he getting
- 38:13Speaker 4: he still has a long speed, He's the other one.
- 38:18Speaker 5: And then my third I'm gonna have to go with
- 38:24Speaker 5: I'm gonna have to go with.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Who probably Saquon.
- 38:32Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, I know his like his situation has
- 38:35Speaker 4: been tough, but like I think just raw just give
- 38:38Speaker 4: the talent for a running back, I think he got
- 38:40Speaker 4: that and his like lateral movement, how he can bend
- 38:45Speaker 4: and make cuts still, like how big he is, Like
- 38:48Speaker 4: I think he's he's the other one.
- 38:50Speaker 3: So it's a solid list. That's a good list.
- 38:52Speaker 5: I want to say those three, that's a good list.
- 38:54Speaker 5: Put myself in there.
- 38:55Speaker 3: The boy. I know, I was thinking that tale, but
- 38:58Speaker 3: I didn't want to be such a home Henery. Ah see.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Actually I mean him in his prime, Like you know,
- 39:04Speaker 1: he's he's Hall of Famer. Yeah he's yeah, most definitely
- 39:08Speaker 1: he had two k Yeah, he did behind this offensive
- 39:12Speaker 1: line that year.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Five games. What's up? I'll take that. Come on, take
- 39:21Speaker 3: credit for that, though.
- 39:22Speaker 5: Who's who's your top three?
- 39:25Speaker 4: Uh?
- 39:27Speaker 3: Just podcasters? Yeah matter podcast podcasters, rogans Rogan's one.
- 39:37Speaker 5: But what makes him the one?
- 39:39Speaker 1: Like his ultimate curiosity, he's so present and he's so
- 39:43Speaker 1: his ability to be so curious about the subject at
- 39:45Speaker 1: hand and be able to break that down and have
- 39:47Speaker 1: information about it is I think that's a that's a
- 39:51Speaker 1: one of one talent in his range.
- 39:53Speaker 2: I mean, he can literally crazy range anybody on and
- 39:55Speaker 2: he does his he does his prep work.
- 39:57Speaker 3: He's what what was that supposed to go three first?
- 40:01Speaker 5: But he's yeah, yeah Brogan, God, what about full seeing Like, yeah, dogs.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Those guys are awesome. I don't know, but like, what's
- 40:16Speaker 1: the category that we're talking about when it comes to
- 40:18Speaker 1: podcasts like that? Okay, okay, just whatever the oh I'm
- 40:21Speaker 1: talking about. There's like so many podcasts. And then Milk
- 40:23Speaker 1: Boys have a massive audience. They do a great job
- 40:25Speaker 1: and their content is amazing. But are we talking about uh,
- 40:29Speaker 1: their interviews, how they approach the interview, those types of things,
- 40:32Speaker 1: because then I think it does change a little bit
- 40:34Speaker 1: because their their audience is insane.
- 40:35Speaker 3: Okay, and those guys, they are good dudes. And then
- 40:38Speaker 3: I would say, just like interviews.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Interviews, just being the well, like I would say, you
- 40:46Speaker 2: heard of him, Okay, armchair quarterback, he's our armchair expert.
- 40:52Speaker 3: He's really good man who I found myself listening to
- 40:58Speaker 3: a lot. I mean THEO there. And I feel like
- 41:04Speaker 3: he's developed over time too.
- 41:05Speaker 2: He's a lot more comedy in the start, because obviously
- 41:07Speaker 2: he's a comedian, but I feel like he's starting to
- 41:09Speaker 2: get he's starting to create a range and a variety
- 41:11Speaker 2: for himself where he's handling himself well in all these conversations.
- 41:14Speaker 3: I like that is he like in Atlanta he's in Nae. Yeah, Nashville.
- 41:19Speaker 3: I think he's put between the Nashville maybe l A,
- 41:22Speaker 3: I'm not sure. Yeah, he was doing Nashville. He was
- 41:24Speaker 3: doing the pod with the shop right for a minute.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, that's a solid three. You got Rogan and
- 41:36Speaker 2: armchair Expert back Shepherd that I've never seen armer expert
- 41:40Speaker 2: one time, but I'll co sign it. What's another what's
- 41:43Speaker 2: to think because Shoals has a really good one.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but I've seen I've seen his clips. I've
- 41:48Speaker 1: never really watched the show. I think he's really good.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it's hard. I know there's something.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't digest a whole lot. I mean, and
- 41:59Speaker 2: that's based on like what I listen to, Like we
- 42:01Speaker 2: can't we can't not talk about the boys part of
- 42:03Speaker 2: my take.
- 42:03Speaker 3: P m T.
- 42:04Speaker 2: They're like the number one sports pod. They have been
- 42:07Speaker 2: for a long time. Kelsey Brothers have a great pod.
- 42:10Speaker 3: That's a good one.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they're massive spin chickles all Barcel everybody with Barsel
- 42:14Speaker 2: listening all the Barcel pods. Yeah, pm T probably is
- 42:17Speaker 2: like they would probably be up there with Rogan Poppy too. Yeah,
- 42:21Speaker 2: I mean, they don't see him being at the top
- 42:23Speaker 2: for as long as as long as they have each
- 42:26Speaker 2: other having the same sense of humor, like they do
- 42:28Speaker 2: a great job.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's that's there.
- 42:31Speaker 4: You go.
- 42:31Speaker 3: There's there's your top whatever.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Top twenty six, right, there was your top left tackles. Okay,
- 42:41Speaker 1: my top left tackles. Trent Williams is one easy above
- 42:46Speaker 1: and beyond dog man the best one. He's the best one.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I wish I had a list to look at. I'm
- 42:59Speaker 1: trying to go through.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Okay, Matthews, I think.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Seattle, that's West. Tunsil is probably in there. Yeah, I'm
- 43:12Speaker 1: just trying to run through it all because like, uh,
- 43:15Speaker 1: I think Jake's great. I think who's hot, Tunsil, Houston
- 43:20Speaker 1: is Tunsil, he's nasty.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Who's saints?
- 43:27Speaker 5: They got nobody?
- 43:28Speaker 3: Well, no, respective, I'm just trying to think of names. Yeah,
- 43:32Speaker 3: let me do I'll do.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Trent Tunsil. Let me get Dean Dawkins for three. Honorable
- 43:43Speaker 1: mention to our boy, Jake Matthews. I still hold a
- 43:46Speaker 1: lot of animosity towards him.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Room.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Yeah, we were sitting like in a room outside of
- 43:54Speaker 1: Radio City and we kind of like started talking because
- 43:57Speaker 1: we were both doing the you know, top tackles in
- 43:59Speaker 1: the drive, kind of sizing each other up a little bit,
- 44:01Speaker 1: but like being respectful the same guy. I'm kind of
- 44:03Speaker 1: both doing the uncomfortable thing together. And so I was like, Hey,
- 44:05Speaker 1: where do you want to go? And he's like, honestly,
- 44:07Speaker 1: he kind of looks around as if somebod's actually listening
- 44:08Speaker 1: to us for tackles.
- 44:09Speaker 3: He's like, Atlanta would be sick. I was like, dude, same.
- 44:12Speaker 1: And then that Monday before the draft, Atlanta flew to
- 44:15Speaker 1: me and they're like, if you're there at six, be ready,
- 44:17Speaker 1: and I'm like, I'll be there. I will be there
- 44:21Speaker 1: around six comes around and I'm like fired up, and
- 44:25Speaker 1: the phone starts ringing on Jake Matthew's table and he's
- 44:28Speaker 1: like two tables away from me too, and his family
- 44:30Speaker 1: started celebrating. I was so fucking mad. I was so
- 44:33Speaker 1: tight because that's where I wanted to go. I was like,
- 44:35Speaker 1: al sick flower Branch. I came down here, checked it out.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Arthur Blank was kind of dope too. Seems like a
- 44:41Speaker 1: couple of guys not himself personally. I made the re
- 44:44Speaker 1: correct phone calls to get things done, and I respect
- 44:46Speaker 1: that if you're able to get away with that, and
- 44:48Speaker 1: so for me, I was like, yeah, I'd be kind
- 44:49Speaker 1: of sick. And then Titans called me and I was
- 44:51Speaker 1: mad about that because they had two tackles. I was
- 44:54Speaker 1: mad as about it. Wait, so you're with Arthur Smith.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's that's our guy.
- 44:59Speaker 3: He was one of the boys.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Man, he was a control guy when I first got there. Yeah,
- 45:04Speaker 1: we would do these pursuit drills where they like hold
- 45:06Speaker 1: up balls in the corner of the end zones and
- 45:08Speaker 1: we would just run and try to punch the ball
- 45:09Speaker 1: out and I would literally beat the ship up.
- 45:12Speaker 3: I would run about tackling the ground, start punching the ball.
- 45:15Speaker 5: Brother.
- 45:16Speaker 4: Think I love about him though, It's like, yeah, obviously
- 45:19Speaker 4: he's a great coach, and like we built the relationship.
- 45:21Speaker 4: But like, bro, his dark comedy hilarious like like if
- 45:27Speaker 4: you're if you're like if you're like a whisper like
- 45:31Speaker 4: something like that. Bro, you can't handle like coach Smith
- 45:33Speaker 4: because like he'll joke with you and it's hilarious. Quick, quick,
- 45:39Speaker 4: it's hilarious.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Bro. Like he's got good group chat humor as well.
- 45:42Speaker 4: He does he does oh my gosh, like he put
- 45:46Speaker 4: he put us in a group chat some of us
- 45:48Speaker 4: off the players and just send the most like crazy things.
- 45:52Speaker 5: But like it was so funny.
- 45:54Speaker 4: It was so funny, and I mean that's like, man,
- 45:58Speaker 4: he could definitely like relationship but like any player just
- 46:02Speaker 4: office comedy because.
- 46:03Speaker 3: I mean that dude was hilarious. Bro, I love that
- 46:05Speaker 3: You've just added one more though. Top three coaches you've
- 46:08Speaker 3: ever had?
- 46:09Speaker 5: Top three coaches?
- 46:11Speaker 1: This is This has been a fun transition, I guess, yeah.
- 46:16Speaker 5: Like ever in my life.
- 46:17Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, Well number one, I'm gonna have to
- 46:21Speaker 4: go with my high school coach, coach Benet. Then it's Bene.
- 46:25Speaker 4: He's kind of like Coach Smith just off like like
- 46:30Speaker 4: he's very he's like the greatest coach in Arizona history
- 46:33Speaker 4: high school coach Charlie Rag.
- 46:34Speaker 1: But yeah, go ahead, all right, just arguing about whatever.
- 46:41Speaker 4: But you know, even even just him like developed being
- 46:45Speaker 4: like helped develop me me to become like a respectable
- 46:48Speaker 4: man and just like be a great kid.
- 46:50Speaker 3: He was that guy.
- 46:52Speaker 4: Uh. But then number two, I'm gonna have to go
- 46:56Speaker 4: ahead Coach Choice to Shark Choice. He was my coach
- 46:59Speaker 4: at Texas, running back coach in Texas. I mean, like
- 47:02Speaker 4: his energy is like awesome, Like I mean, he brought
- 47:06Speaker 4: about it every day every day and then watch I bet,
- 47:11Speaker 4: I bet at the end of all this, like Rahim
- 47:12Speaker 4: is gonna be my number one. But I'm gonna say
- 47:17Speaker 4: he's already like Danner up there, bro, like Rahiem is
- 47:20Speaker 4: fun for a month and he's already like that guy.
- 47:25Speaker 4: I mean just his presence and like obviously like he's
- 47:31Speaker 4: gonna coach you like and get everything out of you,
- 47:34Speaker 4: but he's gonna do it with you like you be
- 47:37Speaker 4: seeing him on the field like in drills, like in
- 47:39Speaker 4: the drill, and I'm like, I just never had a
- 47:42Speaker 4: coach like that before. And then even my coach Petriot,
- 47:46Speaker 4: he's I guess he'd be like my number three and
- 47:48Speaker 4: he's my running back coach now and.
- 47:50Speaker 3: Like my dog for life, that no doubt, I hear.
- 47:54Speaker 3: I gotta I have a question.
- 47:57Speaker 2: People would assume that a cat like yourself, five star recruit, best,
- 48:03Speaker 2: you know, drafted top ten, you're the man even currently
- 48:07Speaker 2: that somebody like you wouldn't have faced a lot of adversity.
- 48:11Speaker 2: What are one of the more trying times you've had
- 48:13Speaker 2: in your career as a football player.
- 48:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, while I faced like I saw for me,
- 48:19Speaker 4: I think I faced a lot of adversity just going
- 48:23Speaker 4: to Texas and not having a winning team, Like when
- 48:28Speaker 4: we would lose, like a lot of it would be
- 48:31Speaker 4: on me, and you know, like we would go eight
- 48:34Speaker 4: and five and then it would be like nine to
- 48:38Speaker 4: four or something like that, like that's a bad season,
- 48:41Speaker 4: like Texas and for me being like the leader of
- 48:45Speaker 4: the team, like who people watch like you know it
- 48:49Speaker 4: was had the guy?
- 48:50Speaker 3: Yeah it was.
- 48:50Speaker 4: It was hard, like and sometimes I would catch myself
- 48:54Speaker 4: like going to Twitter and seeing what people would say
- 48:56Speaker 4: and type in.
- 48:57Speaker 3: Your name's all been there? You shouldn't you know, you shouldn't.
- 49:01Speaker 4: I'm like I should not be doing this, but like
- 49:04Speaker 4: and I'm glad I did it then because obviously I
- 49:07Speaker 4: trickled out and now I don't care like care people think.
- 49:10Speaker 3: But like then it was like, all right, what's happening?
- 49:13Speaker 3: Like what did I do? What's the small mess up
- 49:17Speaker 3: that I did to make this kind of had a
- 49:19Speaker 3: nice game and see people.
- 49:20Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah I had a nice game, but I still
- 49:23Speaker 4: want to see, like what's it? So it's like all
- 49:25Speaker 4: that kind of stuff was was a learning lesson for me.
- 49:30Speaker 4: But it would be like more adversity of like trying
- 49:33Speaker 4: to get teammates on the same page as you, and
- 49:37Speaker 4: sometimes like teammates went to went to the school because
- 49:43Speaker 4: of just the name, like they weren't invested in in
- 49:47Speaker 4: the in the in the play, like they just want
- 49:49Speaker 4: because they want to go to frat parties and say
- 49:52Speaker 4: I'm a football player, like that's all. And I was like,
- 49:55Speaker 4: that's cool, but I don't think you're really getting none
- 49:58Speaker 4: out of it by doing that, Like why don't you
- 50:01Speaker 4: want to be a great player? Didn't do it, Like
- 50:04Speaker 4: I just didn't know where where the where their minds
- 50:06Speaker 4: were up. Yeah, they're messed up. And then even you
- 50:11Speaker 4: know even here, like man, this team is is so tight,
- 50:14Speaker 4: that we're so close, and like just some of those
- 50:18Speaker 4: heartbreaking like losses from last year, like it was it was,
- 50:22Speaker 4: you know, really hard because obviously, like those are the
- 50:24Speaker 4: ones that you want and those are the wins that
- 50:26Speaker 4: you want. But you know, with the NFL, like we
- 50:29Speaker 4: we would put ourselves in in some situations where it
- 50:31Speaker 4: was just hard to come out of from from some
- 50:33Speaker 4: of those games, and then it would end up in
- 50:35Speaker 4: a two point loss, three point loss, and it's just
- 50:38Speaker 4: like we know if we won that game, like we
- 50:41Speaker 4: would be like easily in the playoffs. But it's like
- 50:44Speaker 4: those little things that I had to learn from and
- 50:49Speaker 4: come over because I think, you know, God plans everything.
- 50:54Speaker 4: You know, you have a setback for huge setups for everything.
- 50:56Speaker 4: So like that's where that's where the setup really is,
- 51:00Speaker 4: and that's where where we're right now. And I feel
- 51:02Speaker 4: like where we're right now is where the setup is
- 51:04Speaker 4: is happening.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Yeah, so man, we appreciate you coming on.
- 51:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you can tell that you love ball like you know,
- 51:10Speaker 2: being a good teammate, you care, which is going to
- 51:12Speaker 2: take you a long way, Like you know, there's there
- 51:14Speaker 2: you you you've probably seen it already. There's just guys
- 51:16Speaker 2: in the league that you know, they don't take losses hard.
- 51:20Speaker 2: They don't see it that way. They don't come in
- 51:21Speaker 2: the next day at work and you're just like, man,
- 51:23Speaker 2: why don't you care about this the same way I
- 51:25Speaker 2: feel like I'm caring.
- 51:25Speaker 5: About this, no doubt, no doubt.
- 51:27Speaker 3: But you can tell you love ball, man, And we
- 51:29Speaker 3: appreciate you coming on.
- 51:30Speaker 5: Man, Thanks for having me. Man, this is fire.
- 51:32Speaker 3: Yeah, we do appreciate it. Hey, the mustard move.
- 51:37Speaker 5: I'm yes, address give you like a care package and.
- 51:41Speaker 3: I'll show you the technique and everything. Please do.
- 51:44Speaker 4: Yeah, there is a video. There's videos of dudes just
- 51:46Speaker 4: like going crazy with it, telling you yeah, I'm like,
- 51:48Speaker 4: that's insane. I would never do that.
- 51:50Speaker 3: After touchdown, you will, yeah,
