- 0:09[SPEAKER_03]: Hello everybody, and welcome back to SnackFab.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yay!
- 0:14[SPEAKER_03]: The family affair, the podcast that is going into the weird wild world of limited edition snacks.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_03]: My name is Angie Cybold.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_03]: I am sitting here with my co-host and my son, Henry Cybold.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, hello, I am Henry.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: Hello.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: You heard me in the previous episode, but hello.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: Hello.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: Hi.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: It's Henry from that other time we did this.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you guys for listening to our first episode.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you Whitney and Bids of the Critically Acclaimed Network for hosting us for the first episode of SnackFam.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_03]: We're hearing there's been some positive feedback.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_03]: We're glad that what we're doing just sitting here and being silly and getting to eat junk food.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_03]: resonating with some of you.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_03]: So thank you for listening and we're back.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: We're back with something little more great.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you can say if they're more insane or not, they start with peeing in the this.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_03]: They're definitely different and maybe this will not be a surprise given how passionately we were reping to get Keete back on the market in our last episode and every episode
- 1:20[SPEAKER_03]: until PPC is back, darn it.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_03]: But yes.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_03]: It's back, you coward.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_03]: Power.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, I can smell it through the container.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_03]: OK, so can I, and that's weird.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_03]: So Henry, do you want to tell the audience what we are tasting today?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: Heck yeah.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: We are trying.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: Peep, marshmallow, chili-a-line mango flavored.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I can smell the mango through the package, which I'm not sure if that's concerning or not.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_03]: And we doesn't get a whole lot of like, in my day talk from Whitney or I.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_03]: We are kind of on the older side for parents.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_03]: We have been through,
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of technological changes in our lives.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: Looking good, smart phones were just little things that you pushed numbers on.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_03]: Those were just called telephones, Henry.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_03]: Have you ever seen a rotary phone?
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: Indeed, I have.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen a couple broken ones.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_03]: See what you know how they work.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you like put your finger in the slot and then you like rotate it to the number.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I tried to dial your number on it once, but it was broken.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: So it obviously didn't do anything.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, a true in my day is that peeps had no flipping respect and no variety.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_03]: You got peeps and the peeps were chicks.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_03]: And they were yellow, maybe they were pink, maybe they were blue, but you got peeps, and that was it, and Easter came and went, and that was the end of peeps season.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_03]: And peeps season.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, there's only been one peeps season, but we need that.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_03]: We need it back in our lives.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: We need that.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: We need that.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: But I am a bit of a peep, a connoisseur, he asked me, I have a lot of plushies, and I've had a lot of the flavors,
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: been tantalized by my friend Mary and a good doctor pepper peep chicken front of me without giving one to it.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_03]: How dare you.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_03]: Sharing is caring.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: You only get one.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, that was like I was saying, peeps used to be at Easter.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_03]: Now there are peeps from time's day.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_03]: Christmas, Halloween.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_03]: In fact, retailers are getting in on the game of bespoke peeps.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_03]: Candy came peeps became a thing because they were commissioned by Walmart in 2012.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_03]: And actually now, Christmas is the second biggest holiday for peeps beyond,
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: Easter.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_03]: We also stirred.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, of course.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_03]: And they're not just chicks and bunnies.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_03]: Now, you can find peeps in the shape of cats, reindeer, pumpkin.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_03]: I know there's a ghost.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_03]: There's a ghost.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_03]: There's hearts, trees, and even snowmen.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: There's a tree.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_03]: There's a tree.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_03]: I guess that's a Christmas tree.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_03]: See, that's how they're commandeering the Christmas market.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_03]: They got Christmas trees and snowmen and reindeer.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_03]: Christmas cats, I don't know where the cats come in.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_03]: I guess it's a Halloween thing.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_03]: Peeps have been around longer than you might realize.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_03]: They were actually the brainchild of not the name behind the company.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_03]: You might know that peeps are manufactured by a company called Just Born, and I always assume that meant, oh, little baby chicks.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, my goodness.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_03]: These peeps were just born.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_03]: It turns out born is actually the surname of Sam Born, who was a Russian Jewish immigrant, and he was really an innovator all around the candy industry.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_03]: In 1916, he invented a stick in starting machine for
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: I want to take the stick and shove it inside of a cherry.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_03]: I thought you said you were going to take a stick and shove it in a peat, which I think peat pops or a thing.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, peat pops.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't need to do that.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's already been done.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_03]: But Sam Boren's mid-TA was that he was a chocolatier.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_03]: And so he had a Brooklyn retail shop back in the day.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_03]: And the freshest chocolat was displayed with a sign in the window that read just born.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: Isn't that cute?
- 5:37[SPEAKER_03]: It's a pun.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't know it was a pun.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_03]: As a parent, I appreciate a good pun.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_03]: And the Justborn company really, yeah, huh?
- 5:46[SPEAKER_03]: You have to raise your hand.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's a podcast, right here.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: I did not interrupt you.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: I just have like three words to say.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: Chocolate cover, peeps.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, chocolate covered peeps are a thing now.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_03]: They began enroving peeps in chocolate for even more flavor varieties in the year 2014 But yeah, Sam born and his chocolate company went on an acquisition spree and so the marshmallow chicks So we know I was peeps were actually made by a company called rota candy.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_03]: They were out of lamb caster, Pennsylvania, and it's a little unsure like when
- 6:25[SPEAKER_03]: peeps first started to be made or even when, you know, we're unsure as to who even named them peeps.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_03]: And this is something I used to write for a food website called the Takeout.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_03]: And this is something I've discovered.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of our food history is lost to time.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_03]: I assume it's kind of like the early days of TV where people thought, oh, nobody's gonna want to watch these doctor who episodes, what's this mess?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_03]: And they just like taped over them.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like food and candy history is kind of the same way.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_03]: No one was really thinking in the time like we need to write this down.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: So now, all we really have to go off of are like the corporate history isn't I'm sure they're they're self aggrandizing to a bit like they're they're building a myth here and we're buying the myth because what else can we do delicious heart attack.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_03]: The Stanley Hardtack Company, for your finest chewing needs.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: For your finest teeth breaking.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_03]: Mmm.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_03]: Are your teeth not strong enough?
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: Why don't you make them even weaker?
- 7:31[SPEAKER_03]: Did you know what hard tech is Henry?
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't look like a really hard gross cookie bread thing.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, it is.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, they were eaten by people during the civil war.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_03]: Question mark, I believe.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: My old war.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, the old war.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the old war.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_03]: in 1953, just born, but brought a candy.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_03]: And by that point, we had moved on to the second generation of Barnes, and Bob Born came in and helped automate their processes by creating a special machine known as the depositor.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_03]: That's my favorite transformer depositor because the original batches of peeps took so long to make because they made the marshmallow fresh like they literally had marshmallow plants and went out and made marshmallows from scratch.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_03]: and I want a marshmallow plank and some of these send us a marshmallow do not send us a marshmallow plant we will kill it but the original peeps they had to air dry and so it could take up to 27 hours for a single tray of peeps to be made so Bob born came in with the depositor and then suddenly they were able to make like five six trays of peeps at a time really sped up process and they actually used the depositor
- 8:47[SPEAKER_03]: I am kind of a nerd for this kind of junk.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_03]: So please cut me off at any time.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: You're you're done.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: You're done.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'll say you.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, although I go grab my chain.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I'll say this is a fun fact.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_03]: Did you know peeps are not kosher because of the martial.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_03]: Marshmallow has gelatin in it.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_03]: So peeps are not kosher and they're also not vegan.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, born also makes Mike and I and hot tamales who pecked in base for choose that I do not enjoy.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_03]: If you made me pick between Mike and Iks and hot tamales, I guess I would pick hot tamales, but they'll get stuck in my teeth.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_03]: You're going to hear a lot about my crappy teeth, probably over the course of this podcast.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so the previous chips we actually kind of had to throw out because.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I didn't really like them and I'll let you say your thing.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_03]: So I appear to be one of the unfortunate souls who is very sensitive to stevia.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't know this was a thing until I started consuming products that have stevia in them.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_03]: I had a lovely bottle of stevia flavored.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was been manna soda.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_03]: I want to say I'd vaguely junior was behind it somehow.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for delicious soda, I'd begle junior, but no thank you for the massive stomach issues.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_03]: I had after drinking a whole bottle of that soda and I did my own research.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_03]: And it turns out that there are people who have a sensitivity to stevia, like my gut just can't process it.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_03]: And it's something that I am having to learn to be very
- 10:35[SPEAKER_03]: a lot of food these days is moving towards well we don't want to have sugar in there because that's bad so we're going to go for these sugar substitutes so yeah like your options are asked for tame which is technically worse it's a chemical or stevia which a natural organic solution great wonderful for those of you who can eat it without being stuck in the bathroom afterwards
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: Um, this is this ice cream is so delicious.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I've been burned too many times and I got burned dear listener by the lays salted caramel potato chips that we ate in our last episode.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_03]: You know, how I couldn't stop eating them?
- 11:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I had to stop eating them.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_03]: So,
- 11:20[SPEAKER_03]: I looked at the package this time.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_03]: There is no stevia in chili line mango peeps think goodness.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: I was literally just, you know, I checked.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_03]: So chili line mango peeps are limited for the twenty twenty six Easter season and they are exclusive to Crogor brand stores.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_03]: So whatever stores are in that family that could be croaker out here on L.A. That's Ralphs.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_03]: That could be King Supers.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_03]: If you're up in Denver, you can find these in time for the limited Easter season at the Crover Family grocery stores.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_03]: There are also a few other limited addition flavors from peeps in 2026.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_03]: There are sunny D flavored peeps which kind of sounds insane.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: I used to like sunny D more than I do now.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_03]: I have never liked SunnyD, like, why does SunnyD do exist?
- 12:10[SPEAKER_03]: We have one choose, we have better things.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: Probably have a one about the Raspberry here.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_03]: Rens, very.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: You had the Raspberry, SunnyD.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_03]: there's raspberry sunny day you have not oh my god you need to try it it's super tangy but in a good way interesting so is it raspberry or is it like R.A.Z.Z berry like a blue raspberries berry raspberry raspberry raspberry raspberry raspberry raspberry raspberry raspberry raspberry raspberry raspberry raspberry raspberry raspberry
- 12:50[SPEAKER_03]: Let me know if the youth, where you go with!
- 12:55[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I lost my co-host.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_03]: I guess I'm just gonna eat these peeps by myself.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_03]: Oh boy, I can't wait to eat these.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_03]: I can't back.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, thank goodness.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think I could do this on my own.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I wish I could do that at work.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_03]: Like if somebody asked me a question that I just could not or did not feel like answering, just get up and leave.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_03]: but I need to get paid, so I'm not getting paid off of this.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, not at least there's sunny D peeps out there in the world for 2026.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_03]: There are also poptarts, frosted, strawberry flavored peeps.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_03]: There are some other fun flavored peeps out there.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_03]: And I like to go look up some other reviews.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't really find like
- 13:38[SPEAKER_03]: Normal people reviews like read it was not blowing up with the chili line mango peeps, but USA today gave them an interesting review they said they weren't spicy like a kick But they felt like they tasted like the peppers themselves
- 13:55[SPEAKER_03]: And the general consensus seems to be like it's really impressive that these peeps actually taste like chili and lime and mango.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so it's not like the laid-self and caramel where you know where it was like weirdly overpowering and read it's all over it.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the keyword here seems to be nuance.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_03]: That's where snaccology is coming from from the omnicasm.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: They gave it five out of five cookies, which is an adorable rating system.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_03]: So shout out to snaccology.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: Cookies is a sort of stars.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm intrigued.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_03]: I think in a world of like crazy flavors, these might actually be a little subtle.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I give these, I give this snack a score of 1.2345678.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: Six.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: Shut up.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: I give this snack a score of 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 cookies.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yay.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_03]: That's actually a pretty low review.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_03]: This is just 1.2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like, is that out of five cookies?
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's out of two.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_03]: Oh.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_03]: I guess that's kind of good then.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, let's stop refueling hypothetical things on rating systems that aren't even hours.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: Let's eat these things and time for the box ASMR or I'll let you eat!
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: Do you hear your satisfying whisper noise?
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: Hello.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back to the snack fans ASMR second.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: Henry is grappling with a wrapper of the box of chili line mango peaks.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_03]: There's 10 peeps in here, which feels like excessive.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_03]: The ones I want to try, and I know they're not even limited edition, but the Dr. Pepper keeps some really interesting to me, and I don't even like Dr. Pepper.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there's two troughs.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, okay, so I guess we each get a tray.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: We each get a tray of slime when it'll bento tray.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: Mango.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's so weird.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_03]: The overwhelming aroma is mango.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that's a little powder.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: Potters taste like sugar you guys.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I mean, that's kind of all it is.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_03]: I think the last step in the peeps process is they get dusted with this colored sugar.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_03]: Well, okay, so we've got our trays of little five, we've got our little five guys, no fries, just peeps.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_03]: And these are peeps, I feel like peeps, bunnies have become very dominant in the iconography.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_03]: Like Henry gets a peep bunny, a stuffed peep bunny every year and he's Easterbass.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: I have two chicks and they're earrings.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_03]: All right, all right, we ready?
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: And thank you.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, Red and Link.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_03]: Whoa.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_03]: I get.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_03]: No, I got what you want to say today was.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't taste pepper like spicy.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_03]: It literally tastes like a chili pepper.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm getting chili and mango.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't taste the lime.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_03]: That was a complaint that seemed like if people had a complaint about these, it's that the lime doesn't really
- 17:27[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like, is the lime in the sugar?
- 17:31[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I know what I just said.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: But sugar did taste kind of limey to me, aren't you?
- 17:36[SPEAKER_03]: Do I need to look this thing?
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, I just licked my hand and tasted like lime.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: The sugar is lime flavor.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_03]: I think the sugar is lime flavor.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really go in again.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I'm gonna eat the rest of this one.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I already ate lime.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm going in again.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure I'm the first one.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_03]: Huh, hmm.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: There's the lime.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_03]: I think it really is the sugar though.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: The last time I did two whites this time I did one bite and I put it on my tongue.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's the lime.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_03]: You guys.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_03]: This is so weird.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm all right.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_03]: I freaking love this.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's so good.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, they're all we know there's this left.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to save one so my dad can try it shout out to chili lime flavors Well, your dad can't try it because he gave up snacks for life.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think he's going to want to pee like a month from now.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think well, how long does a peep keep?
- 18:42[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's just a marshmallow and it's clearly processed.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think there's still like
- 18:48[SPEAKER_03]: plucking the marshmallow plant for, you know, we're not, we even got rid of the, what did I call it, the dispenser.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it was it called, I messed up my, that's a possible, I don't think they're breaking out the depositor anymore.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, the expiration date is 9.226.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I would keep it.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_03]: We'll keep on our tight container for daddy.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna, they're gonna stay good until like September.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_03]: How do you feel about chili line mango is a flavor in general, Henry?
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what it's on.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: If you ask me.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: If you ask me, chillin' my mangoes better on, like candy's and stuff, but it also works on smoothies and fry's, and that's sort of it.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_03]: There is, if you've been, if you've been to Disneyland and you've gone to the Tiki Room, there's a Dolwip Cafe nearby.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_03]: And it used to just be, you just got like the classic Dolwip, like the pineapple situation.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_03]: And that was great, that was great enough.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_03]: And now you can get all these diverse flavors of dole whip and it feels like very kind of modeled after Filipino flavors and I know like Filipino cuisine is really on an up swing right now, which I could not be happier about I love Filipino food.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_03]: One of my my best friends shot out Nicole we used to have dinner parties at her house and we would all end up in the kitchen making will be out with her and her mother so.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: One of my keeps is I was.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_03]: Did you just pick the eye off me?
- 20:30[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_03]: So the peep eyes are just like these weird little blobs.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_03]: Do they taste like anything or are they sugar?
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_03]: All that's to say is the restaurant with the Dolwips by the Teague Room in Disneyland has like a chili line mango, chamois, Dolwip situation.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm pretty sure the last time we went to Disneyland, I was purely motivated by getting another one of those.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think a pee-buy is just a sugar-bobb.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_03]: It just tastes like nothing, really.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: I always have about two pee-sweds.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_03]: What?
- 21:06[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, one!
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: And they're really good.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: They're really good.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I feel like I need to eat another one to just be like that rule.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_03]: But like, do you feel like it changes as you eat more?
- 21:18[SPEAKER_03]: Like, as you know what you're getting into?
- 21:20[SPEAKER_03]: Two, like, that's more like an interesting thing.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_03]: Do you think that's just because sugar accumulation?
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: the science of the scientific process of sugar accumulation on your tongue gay yes I used to eat like two like in a row and then you'll see what I mean a little one-eyed jack here one-eyed jack and then two-eyed Dave hmm well, I don't know why is it all about Dave?
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: why is Dave not me paper?
- 21:49[SPEAKER_03]: you might need to explain that to the listenership I shall not what?
- 21:54[SPEAKER_03]: okay I'll just edit it out then
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: But yes, yesterday a couple days ago, I was playing what beats rock.com and you say like what we drop, what beats rock paper, what beats paper, Dave, Dave does not beat paper, paper is it not, paper is a thing, Dave is a person, you can't beat, you can't beat a thing with a person, that's just weird.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: quote from what beats rock.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_03]: I've now gotten sugar all over my keyboard.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_03]: There's some really sweet and take a before pick of these peeps.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: That sucks.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_03]: What are we going to put on the Instagram?
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, keep execution.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_03]: Henry, when you leave these peeps, what part did you bite first?
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: So what I did, the first time I met from the front, or I met it from the back, and I barely must say I is the second time, I like laid it on my tongue and then just chewed it.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_03]: For peeps, 60th anniversary in 2013, they put out a customer survey, and they found out that nearly two thirds of peeps eaters start by biting its head off.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_03]: But those cool, little people.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_03]: They're just, yeah.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_03]: There is something really predatory that comes into play when you're eating something that is shaped like a creature, but it's not a creature.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like, I don't eat the heads off my peeps first, but I eat the heads off of my animal crackers first.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_03]: And speaking of those little peep eye blobs, all peeps were decorated by hand until 1923.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_03]: If you were here for peeps, Laura, we got you.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_03]: I do feel like I cannot finish a tray because we're recording this after dinner and I've eaten three peeps and now I kinda need to like crawl into the bathtub and die.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: But... Well, that's what I'm gonna be doing.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, time to be head of peep.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_03]: Do you feel like that was more satisfying than how you were eating them before?
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, I got so much shell like, I got it spicy!
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
- 24:30[SPEAKER_03]: the chili line mingo peeps.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_03]: So we have our tier system.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_03]: S equals delicious.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_03]: A equals tasty, the equals mid sequels bad and D equals gross.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_03]: Count of three Henry will say ours together and then we'll litigate from there.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_03]: You're a so I guess one, two, three and then we'll say it.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_03]: You ready?
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: One, two.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: Delicious!
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah!
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go!
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: Esther, baby!
- 24:57[SPEAKER_03]: Woo!
- 24:58[SPEAKER_03]: Our first Esther in episode two!
- 25:01[SPEAKER_03]: She of S!
- 25:03[SPEAKER_03]: That is so gratifying because this is a dangerous proposition.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_03]: Let's face it.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_03]: Like we could be eating some some real crap on this podcast.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_03]: But man, these are legit.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like I feel like I was gonna say good.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna say good and they're like, no.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_03]: They're better than good.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, or tasty, I guess, it's better.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_03]: It would be, yeah, our ate here is tasty.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like what's better than good?
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: Deletions.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_01]: Here was my thought process on the first one.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: Pasty.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: Made delicious delicious.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then the second one, where I sort of like put it on my tongue,
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: big mid-tasty delicious, and then on the third one where I did it's head off, spicy, which isn't on here, tasty delicious delicious delicious delicious.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_03]: Spicy is not a ranking.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's just a fact.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's just a condition.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: Boom.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_03]: Very slight food.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_03]: You know, now I'm not even three of them.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_03]: My nose is kind of running.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_03]: So I guess if you eat one, you're not going to be hit with the heat,
- 26:20[SPEAKER_03]: it does accumulate and there's also like there's also like kind of a sweet chili sauce after taste.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm going hot for me.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: We're like chili.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_03]: Like it really is like that sweet heat flavor profile which I do enjoy.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, that that was an easy one chili line mango peeps.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_03]: They're delicious.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's do one more jinky stinky for the room.
