- 0:00Speaker 1: Stirring the pot one morning at a time. Welcome to
- 0:05Speaker 1: the Alabama Show.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Hey, buddy.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Hey, good morning.
- 0:17Speaker 3: What's on your mind?
- 0:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Like, I was thinking about, like, why is blue raspberry
- 0:23Speaker 4: not an actual, like, fruit?
- 0:26Speaker 3: But raspberries are. Because we make a lot of unnatural
- 0:30Speaker 3: fruits all the time. Why can't we make blue raspberries?
- 0:32Speaker 3: Why don't we make flavors?
- 0:33Speaker 5: Why don't we.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I don't know. You know what I'm saying? We have
- 0:36Speaker 3: a bunch of like fruits.
- 0:37Speaker 4: We got grapes that taste like cotton candy.
- 0:39Speaker 3: And those are delicious.
- 0:40Speaker 5: They are?
- 0:40Speaker 3: Yeah, but why don't we have blue raspberries? Are they
- 0:42Speaker 3: good for you?
- 0:43Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't know.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Probably they're grapes. They're just flavored weird. But why don't
- 0:47Speaker 3: we have raspberries that are blue? I don't know. I
- 0:49Speaker 3: would not buy blue raspberries. I don't even like blue
- 0:53Speaker 3: raspberry flavor. Isn't that kind of sour? No, it's sweet
- 0:56Speaker 3: as can be. I love it because it tastes blue.
- 0:59Speaker 4: If you're ever wondering what it was like to be
- 1:01Speaker 4: in producer Blake's brain for exactly one minute, you just
- 1:04Speaker 4: got it.
- 1:05Speaker 5: Was that a minute?
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yeah. Anyway, good morning. Thanks for listening to The Alabama Show.
- 1:11Speaker 3: On the way, no more of that.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Ask Alabama at 7 o'clock if you ever have an
- 1:15Speaker 4: issue going on in your life.
- 1:17Speaker 3: We want to do our best to help.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Also, 6.15, 8.50, what the hell headlines, crazy things people
- 1:23Speaker 4: are doing in the news. And then there was an
- 1:26Speaker 4: incident at my house. We'll tell you about that at
- 1:30Speaker 4: 8 o'clock today.
- 1:31Speaker 3: But good morning. Thank you for being here.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Stop.
- 1:34Speaker 1: It's what the hell headlines.
- 1:35Speaker 3: What the hell are you talking about?
- 1:38Speaker 1: On the Alabama show.
- 1:40Speaker 4: A woman pretended to be a substitute teacher and went
- 1:44Speaker 4: into a classroom and started yelling at students.
- 1:47Speaker 1: What the hell?
- 1:49Speaker 3: Did these kids do something to her?
- 1:51Speaker 4: I don't know what happened. It was a woman in Wisconsin.
- 1:54Speaker 4: She went into the classroom and started making fun of
- 1:57Speaker 4: the kids.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Listen to this.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Students also say Jones started playing rap music very loud
- 2:01Speaker 2: and dissed kids for their weight, race, looks and money.
- 2:05Speaker 2: even asking if any students had a vape or marijuana because, quote,
- 2:09Speaker 2: the class was so lame and annoying.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. Anyway, she got arrested.
- 2:14Speaker 1: What the hell? Super easy trivia with The Alabama Show.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Crystal, good morning. What are you doing right now? Where
- 2:22Speaker 3: are you going? To work?
- 2:24Speaker 5: I'm driving to work.
- 2:25Speaker 3: What town are you in?
- 2:26Speaker 6: I am in McCalla.
- 2:27Speaker 5: Okay.
- 2:28Speaker 3: How's traffic in McCalla today, Crystal? It's fine.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Reporting live from McCalla, Crystal says traffic is fine.
- 2:35Speaker 5: They're flying past me.
- 2:37Speaker 4: What?
- 2:38Speaker 5: They're flying past me.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 2:42Speaker 4: All right, let's play super easy trivia. Let's win you
- 2:45Speaker 4: tickets to Homestead Hollow. Crystal, question number one.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Okay.
- 2:48Speaker 3: What sweet food do bees make?
- 2:51Speaker 4: Honey.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Yes, honey, that's correct. Next one. What month comes after October?
- 2:58Speaker 6: November, my birthday.
- 3:00Speaker 3: November is.
- 3:01Speaker 4: And also the day the pilgrims and the Indians became friends.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Is that the month? That's Thanksgiving. Oh, yeah, yeah, you're right.
- 3:09Speaker 1: November. Okay, last one.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Last one for the win. How many stars are on
- 3:17Speaker 3: the American flag?
- 3:18Speaker 6: 50.
- 3:19Speaker 5: 50's it.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Congratulations, Crystal. You just won Super Easy Trivia.
- 3:35Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 3:36Speaker 1: It's three things you need to know with the Alabama show.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Tropical storm Isaiah's is forming in the Gulf, which means
- 3:43Speaker 4: this weekend we do have the potential for heavy rain,
- 3:46Speaker 4: gusty winds and isolated tornadoes.
- 3:49Speaker 3: So be prepared.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Keep a lookout on the weather this weekend and obviously
- 3:53Speaker 4: we'll keep you updated and know your safe space in
- 3:55Speaker 4: case a tornado does pop up. Starbucks just announced the
- 3:59Speaker 4: 2026 holiday menu.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Fans say it's blasphemous.
- 4:02Speaker 4: They are upset because Starbucks now has a new line
- 4:05Speaker 4: of tiramisu inspired beverages. They have the tiramisu velvet latte,
- 4:10Speaker 4: hot and iced, and they're also dropping a tiramisu velvet
- 4:13Speaker 4: cold brew. But because they're bringing the new drink, they're
- 4:16Speaker 4: taking away the chestnut praline latte and people are upset
- 4:19Speaker 4: about it. They're still bringing back the peppermint mocha, caramel
- 4:22Speaker 4: brulee latte, sugar cookie latte, and gingerbread chai, and also
- 4:25Speaker 4: three new food items, a barista cake pop that looks
- 4:28Speaker 4: like the barista cup, the turkey and stuffing sandwich with
- 4:31Speaker 4: a new recipe, and a new braised short rib grilled cheese.
- 4:34Speaker 4: So enjoy all the holiday stuff. It'll probably be out
- 4:37Speaker 4: very soon. Google just dropped the best days to book
- 4:40Speaker 4: your holiday travel. Are you flying anywhere for the holidays?
- 4:43Speaker 3: I'm not flying, but I might be driving.
- 4:45Speaker 4: What we got? Well, it's time to book those flights.
- 4:47Speaker 3: If you are.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Thanksgiving, the lowest fares are 34 days before flying out
- 4:52Speaker 4: with the best price range between 21 and 57 days out,
- 4:56Speaker 4: which would technically be right now to book. Also, Wednesdays
- 4:59Speaker 4: are the cheapest booking days. So today I would be
- 5:01Speaker 4: looking at your Thanksgiving flights. Christmas deals 56 days before
- 5:06Speaker 4: you fly out. Google also found that flying on Monday
- 5:09Speaker 4: and returning on Tuesday or Wednesday will save you money
- 5:11Speaker 4: over the weekend flights.
- 5:12Speaker 3: OK, that's pretty good advice.
- 5:14Speaker 4: So if you're flying out and you save some money
- 5:16Speaker 4: from booking today, you're welcome. That's three things you need
- 5:19Speaker 4: to know more at the Alabama show dot com.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You're listening to The Alabama Show On Demand.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Good morning, Peyton. What's your issue for Ask Alabama?
- 5:29Speaker 6: My sister is trying to use me to.
- 5:30Speaker 5: Get a job.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I know.
- 5:32Speaker 3: That is why we do Ask Alabama. We do our
- 5:35Speaker 3: best to help you if you ever have any kind
- 5:36Speaker 3: of issue. Call the show, 833-501-BAMA is the number. What
- 5:38Speaker 3: is going on?
- 5:42Speaker 6: So I've been at my company for four years and
- 5:45Speaker 6: we have a referral scheme and I have used it
- 5:48Speaker 6: twice now. And both times those people worked out, which
- 5:51Speaker 6: is why I get taken seriously when I refer people
- 5:54Speaker 6: at my company.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Oh, that's awesome.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Good for you. Good for us.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Oh, thank you.
- 5:59Speaker 6: So my sister asked me to refer her for an
- 6:02Speaker 6: opening on a different floor. and I said no.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Why'd you say no?
- 6:06Speaker 6: So I helped her get a job before and she
- 6:09Speaker 6: was always late, then stopped showing up without saying anything
- 6:12Speaker 6: to anyone.
- 6:12Speaker 3: So I told.
- 6:14Speaker 6: Her I wasn't going to refer her again.
- 6:16Speaker 3: That makes sense.
- 6:17Speaker 6: She ended up applying anyway and put me down as
- 6:20Speaker 6: her I get an email from HR basically confirming that
- 6:26Speaker 6: I referred her and I told them that I did not.
- 6:30Speaker 3: So he finds out because they told her that the
- 6:33Speaker 3: referral couldn't be verified.
- 6:34Speaker 6: And she called me screaming that I basically like blacklisted
- 6:39Speaker 6: her and stopped her from getting this job. And my
- 6:42Speaker 6: mom said, I should have just said yes.
- 6:44Speaker 3: And now my whole family is mad at me.
- 6:46Speaker 6: Am I wrong for not referring my sister to this job?
- 6:49Speaker 3: Look, your family don't pay your bills. That's all I'm
- 6:52Speaker 3: going to say. They do not have a say in
- 6:55Speaker 3: who you refer to, who you don't refer. It doesn't
- 6:57Speaker 3: matter if it's blood or not. She could have changed.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Has she had a job since then?
- 7:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess.
- 7:03Speaker 6: But like, no, like no job like this. Like this
- 7:06Speaker 6: is like what I'd say like an adult.
- 7:08Speaker 7: Job you know what i mean let's see if we
- 7:09Speaker 7: could get some advice for you call the show have
- 7:12Speaker 7: you ever referred somebody at your job and then they
- 7:16Speaker 7: were terrible at it and got fired or quit or
- 7:19Speaker 7: whatever how.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Did you handle that 833-501-BAMA is the number that's 833-501-2262
- 7:24Speaker 4: you're listening to.
- 7:27Speaker 1: The alabama show on demand.
- 7:29Speaker 4: I just remembered that i'm the bad family member That
- 7:32Speaker 4: somebody referred to their job.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Okay, what? Call the show.
- 7:37Speaker 4: Have you ever referred a family member to your job?
- 7:40Speaker 4: Because Peyton just called. Her sister wanted her to refer her,
- 7:43Speaker 4: and she said no, and now it's causing a whole
- 7:45Speaker 4: big fight.
- 7:46Speaker 3: My aunt got me into her job when I first...
- 7:51Speaker 3: moved back home. Okay. And she got me in at
- 7:54Speaker 3: her job where.
- 7:55Speaker 4: She was like a broker for truck drivers, 18 wheelers.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Like they find loads and book the truckers for the loads.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I worked there two days and quit. You would be
- 8:06Speaker 3: the worst person to refer. That would drive me up
- 8:10Speaker 3: a wall. I couldn't do it. I couldn't do the math.
- 8:13Speaker 3: It was so hard.
- 8:14Speaker 4: I didn't even make it past the training.
- 8:16Speaker 2: God, you would irritate me if I ever recommended you,
- 8:19Speaker 2: and you were like, yeah, I can't do this.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh, you would drive me.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Up a wall.
- 8:23Speaker 4: I literally woke up the third day, and I was like,
- 8:26Speaker 4: I just emailed the boss.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, this job isn't for me. I
- 8:30Speaker 3: can't do it.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Ooh.
- 8:32Speaker 3: That would make me even more mad. Oh, my gosh.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I did.
- 8:36Speaker 3: I'm that girl. Oh, my gosh. Like, that actually puts, like,
- 8:40Speaker 3: boils on my skin. I get so angry about that.
- 8:43Speaker 5: Oh, my gosh.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Call the show. Have you ever referred a family member
- 8:46Speaker 3: to your job?
- 8:47Speaker 1: What happened?
- 8:48Speaker 2: 833-501-BAMA.
- 8:50Speaker 1: It's three things you need to know with the Alabama show.
- 8:54Speaker 4: The Oxford police are warning against pranks that could damage
- 8:56Speaker 4: property ahead of homecoming. Because, you know, every year when
- 8:59Speaker 4: homecoming happens, people like to play pranks. They say the
- 9:02Speaker 4: big thing is don't shoot paintball guns or gel blasters
- 9:06Speaker 4: at homes or cars because it can damage it.
- 9:08Speaker 3: What happened to good old fashioned toilet paper? Anyway, just
- 9:11Speaker 3: don't do it.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Apple TV is making It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,
- 9:16Speaker 4: available for free streaming for a two-day window in October.
- 9:20Speaker 4: So if you don't have Apple TV, you can still
- 9:22Speaker 4: watch for free the special on October 17th and 18th.
- 9:27Speaker 4: They also said that a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving will be
- 9:30Speaker 4: free to watch on November 14th and 15th. And then
- 9:33Speaker 4: they're making a Charlie Brown Christmas free to watch on
- 9:35Speaker 4: December 12th and 13th. Even if you are not a subscriber,
- 9:38Speaker 4: you can go watch those for free. If you want
- 9:41Speaker 4: to know the perfect time to buy your pumpkin for Halloween,
- 9:44Speaker 4: producer Blake.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Okay, let me know so I can stay away.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 9:47Speaker 4: No, you got to get a pumpkin now because you're
- 9:50Speaker 4: renting a house and you got to put a jack-o'-lantern
- 9:52Speaker 4: on your porch, I say. The Farmer's Almanac says you
- 9:55Speaker 4: can buy your pumpkin now and carve it later because
- 9:58Speaker 4: a healthy, uncarved pumpkin can last forever.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Much longer than one that you carve.
- 10:01Speaker 4: So buy it now because now's the perfect time to
- 10:03Speaker 4: buy it and then carve it around October 28th through
- 10:06Speaker 4: the 30th. Choose a firm, undamaged pumpkin. Keep it cool, dry,
- 10:10Speaker 4: and out of the sun until you carve it.
- 10:13Speaker 5: Oh, God.
- 10:13Speaker 3: I don't know if I can do it, but... Carve
- 10:16Speaker 3: a pumpkin. Quit being a Grinch.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Be fun.
- 10:18Speaker 3: A Grinch for Halloween pumpkins? I don't know about it.
- 10:22Speaker 4: That's the things you need to know. More at thealabamashow.com.
- 10:25Speaker 1: You are listening to The Alabama Show. The following program
- 10:29Speaker 1: is on demand.
- 10:32Speaker 4: 833-501-BAMA is the number to call this show.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Austin, good morning. Do you have good news?
- 10:38Speaker 5: I do. Here soon, I'll be celebrating five years clean
- 10:43Speaker 5: and sober off of all the drugs and stuff.
- 10:48Speaker 3: That is so awesome. And I don't know if you
- 10:50Speaker 3: know my story.
- 10:51Speaker 4: I talk about my mom all the time who passed
- 10:53Speaker 4: away from an accidental overdose. And so I really think
- 10:57Speaker 4: it's important when people who are sober and that have
- 11:00Speaker 4: a long term recovery like you celebrating five years, it's
- 11:04Speaker 4: important to share, to show people that there's hope and
- 11:07Speaker 4: it can be done. And so thank you for giving
- 11:10Speaker 4: hope to people who may be struggling today.
- 11:13Speaker 5: Of course, you got to recover out loud to help
- 11:16Speaker 5: others who are dying quietly.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 11:19Speaker 4: If you could give anybody any advice today, what would
- 11:22Speaker 4: it be like?
- 11:22Speaker 3: How where did you even start?
- 11:24Speaker 5: Well, I call it a blessing in disguise. Gail.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:30Speaker 5: I wasn't built for jail.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Absolutely. And sometimes that's how it happens. But that's OK.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. That's what I needed to save my life
- 11:37Speaker 5: and get my life back on track. And that's what
- 11:39Speaker 5: needed to happen.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Awesome.
- 11:41Speaker 3: That is so awesome.
- 11:42Speaker 4: I'm going to give you the air horn again. Cause
- 11:46Speaker 4: that's huge. And I'm proud of you for calling. I
- 11:48Speaker 4: know that's a vulnerable thing to share with a lot
- 11:50Speaker 4: of people. And so I'm glad that you called the
- 11:52Speaker 4: show and shared. Thank you for that.
- 11:54Speaker 2: No problem.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Thank you for what y'all do.
- 11:56Speaker 1: You're listening to the Alabama show on demand.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Don't ever sleep naked.
- 12:02Speaker 1: What?
- 12:03Speaker 3: What is that? Don't sleep naked. Just don't. It's a
- 12:06Speaker 3: bad idea. Do you wear pajamas when you sleep?
- 12:08Speaker 4: No.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Do you sleep naked?
- 12:10Speaker 5: Sort of, but not really.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Thanks for listening to The Alabama Show. I'm Alabama with
- 12:14Speaker 4: producer Blake. If you have this problem, call in 833-501-BAMA.
- 12:19Speaker 3: I sleep naked.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Okay. Good to know.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Thank you for letting me know that.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I have dogs that wake up in the middle of
- 12:26Speaker 4: the night that I have to let out.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:29Speaker 3: So I let my dogs out in the middle of
- 12:31Speaker 3: the night.
- 12:32Speaker 6: Right.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I also have.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Chickens that like to jump into the.
- 12:39Speaker 3: There's a tree in the.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Middle of my yard, and for whatever reason, they like
- 12:42Speaker 4: to jump into the tree.
- 12:44Speaker 3: They don't go into the coop, so they sleep in
- 12:45Speaker 3: the tree.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Right.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Somehow... Oh, God. When I let the dogs out, I
- 12:52Speaker 3: sit at the door and wait, and then just open
- 12:55Speaker 3: the door. In all my glory.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Okay.
- 12:58Speaker 3: The way God made you. The way Adam and Eve
- 13:02Speaker 3: came out.
- 13:02Speaker 2: I got it.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Yep, I got it.
- 13:03Speaker 6: Go ahead.
- 13:04Speaker 4: So all of a sudden a chicken starts yelling as
- 13:08Speaker 4: I'm beeping the dogs. Somehow the dog jumped up and
- 13:11Speaker 4: got a chicken out of the tree and they had
- 13:13Speaker 4: it pinned down and they were trying to play tug
- 13:15Speaker 4: of war with it at 3 a.m.
- 13:18Speaker 3: And the chicken's screaming. So I have to save the chicken.
- 13:21Speaker 3: So I don't think I don't put on shoes. I
- 13:24Speaker 3: don't put on a robe. I put on nothing. I
- 13:26Speaker 3: run out the door. In the middle of my yard
- 13:28Speaker 3: at 3 in the morning, butt naked. Fighting, grabbing my
- 13:31Speaker 3: dogs off of my chicken. True American heroes, I say.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Had to do it. You had to let the world
- 13:38Speaker 3: see the glory, Ann, didn't you? I don't know if
- 13:40Speaker 3: anybody saw or not, but I know. It's caught on
- 13:43Speaker 3: my ring camera.
- 13:44Speaker 5: We're not sharing that one.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Video footage.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Well, you kind of can't see anything, and I've been
- 13:49Speaker 4: debating all day of whether we share it on the
- 13:52Speaker 4: Alabama show or not.
- 13:53Speaker 6: No!
- 13:54Speaker 3: We can blur it. I don't want to see that.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Before Blur, I'm going to have to be the one
- 14:00Speaker 3: to do it. I don't want to do it. You
- 14:01Speaker 3: can't tell. I don't care. I know there's there. Anyway,
- 14:06Speaker 3: the chicken's fine, in case you're wondering. I didn't care
- 14:09Speaker 3: about that.
- 14:09Speaker 5: I'll be honest.
- 14:10Speaker 3: I got the dogs off of the chicken. The chicken
- 14:12Speaker 3: ran away, and she's good. I won't be. Why did
- 14:18Speaker 3: you tell me that? It's a good story. Call the show.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Have you ever done anything? Has this ever happened to
- 14:24Speaker 3: you or something like it? What happened when you slept naked?
- 14:28Speaker 3: 833-501-BAMA is the number. That's 833-501-2262. You are listening to.
- 14:34Speaker 1: The Alabama Show On Demand.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Good morning. Who's this?
- 14:38Speaker 5: This is Shante. What's the deal, baby?
- 14:42Speaker 3: Did you just call me baby?
- 14:44Speaker 5: Yes, ma'am. Okay.
- 14:45Speaker 1: What about me?
- 14:47Speaker 5: Can't call you baby, bro. You can try. Nah, I
