- 1:51Welcome back, Treasured Mama. Coach Kori here, and we are talking all things L-O-V-E.
- 1:59We are talking about love this month, and today we're diving into how love is in action.
- 2:08It is so interesting to me. As I look back, my husband and I dated when we were
- 2:15in high school, took a break, dated again, and then got married.
- 2:19And here we are over 10 years of marriage later.
- 2:22And we were reflecting recently on how love has changed, how we would define
- 2:29it now versus when we were quite a bit younger.
- 2:33And one of the common themes that came up is that love is in action.
- 2:39You know, there's so many moments when you've done a lot of life together,
- 2:43you've gotten married, you've purchased a house, vehicles, new jobs, had multiple children.
- 2:49You truly see all sides of your spouse to include the ones that may not be so likable in a moment.
- 2:58And yet we still find a way to love each other.
- 3:02And recently we had an experience in our household where somebody was recovering
- 3:08from a medical procedure and a couple other people were really sick.
- 3:12And I found me being one of the people that was sick, it was no question if
- 3:18I would show up for the other people in my family. Why?
- 3:22Because I love them. I may do it more slowly.
- 3:25It may not be as pretty as it usually is.
- 3:29The process may be a little less smooth, but regardless, I still show up for my family.
- 3:36And it's not a question of if.
- 3:38It's more so a following through on the love that I I have for them and demonstrating that with actions.
- 3:47On a relationship you have in your life, present day, right now.
- 3:52It's a relationship where you have love for somebody else.
- 3:56In our previous episode, we talked about the three different types of love,
- 4:01the romantic love, the friendship love, and the agape love, like the love of Christ.
- 4:09And it could could be any of those definitions of love.
- 4:12So think about a relationship that you've had where love was a part of the equation
- 4:18and think how different you show up in those situations versus situations where
- 4:25love is not a part of the equation.
- 4:27And what I believe you will find is that when you love somebody and you are
- 4:33operating from a heart posture of love, you find a way to make things happen.
- 4:39You are solution-minded.
- 4:41You are focused on Christ first before the potential roadblocks.
- 4:48However, when we are engaging in an experience where love is not at the forefront.
- 4:55That is when we tend to become blindsided by potential barriers.
- 5:01We shift from being solution oriented into problem focused.
- 5:07That's what I want to spend the rest of our time talking about here today is
- 5:11sharing some practical examples of how you can show up with love being an action
- 5:16and being very intentional about doing this on the daily,
- 5:21not just in the big moments, a graduation
- 5:24a new birth a wedding valentine's
- 5:29day but really the day-to-day meeting
- 5:32the mundane with a heart posture of love and
- 5:36how do we do that we do that first by
- 5:39aligning our heart with the one who is the purest
- 5:42example of love he is love and
- 5:46that is our heavenly father Father oftentimes I
- 5:49will hear things like Jesus is my
- 5:52Lord and Savior and they really do live out the
- 5:55Savior part God has given his
- 5:58only begotten son for us so we could be saved from
- 6:01our sin the Lord part is where many people profess that out of their mouth but
- 6:07they don't really walk it out as an action because if somebody is Lord over
- 6:12you they have lordship over your life you will will surrender to them in every
- 6:18aspect of your existence.
- 6:20And this is where I find so many of us get caught up in those moments of discomfort.
- 6:27Those moments of stretching, those experiences where we have growing pains,
- 6:32and we decide it's just too much.
- 6:36It's not worth it. And sometimes there are experiences where we do need to walk away.
- 6:42Absolutely, they're out of season or we weren't called to be in that position in the first place,
- 6:48but we do that by meeting with the Father and getting clarity on that instead
- 6:54of basing it on if it's easy or not.
- 6:59But when we are focused first on the Father and we are pursuing a life that
- 7:05is in alignment with Him, we will operate from a place of love.
- 7:11Love is one of these things you can't truly, truly define other than to say Jesus is love.
- 7:18However, I will see posts that express sentiments of describe love in three
- 7:25words or tell me how love feels.
- 7:29Or tell me when you'll know it's love. And I find those questions very interesting
- 7:34because I get the idea of asking the question.
- 7:39However, I don't feel I have ever been able to adequately define love,
- 7:46adequately describe it with earthly words when it's really an eternal perspective.
- 7:53And I absolutely love seeing in my personal life, as I've learned to love better,
- 8:01love deeper, love more consistently, that I receive that more often.
- 8:07If you're in a season where you're feeling as if love is not something you can have,
- 8:13or love is not something that's abundant in your life, or love is something
- 8:18that is hard to come by, I encourage you, beloved, go out and be love to somebody else.
- 8:26Show up as a representation of Christ. Be love.
- 8:30And what we put out, we will then begin to experience more often.
- 8:36If you're looking for more kindness, go be kind. If you're looking for more
- 8:40generosity, go be generous.
- 8:42If you're looking for more love, go be loving.
- 8:46One of the things I love to do is gain clarity on how somebody receives love.
- 8:54You may think of this as their love language.
- 8:57I have one child whose love language is absolutely quality time.
- 9:02He loves to spend time. It doesn't matter the activity.
- 9:06It doesn't matter the conversation.
- 9:09He just wants to spend time with me. And I have another child who loves to do
- 9:15things. It's acts of service.
- 9:18It's creating an art project together. It's playing outside.
- 9:22And it's so fun to create unique experiences, to love that child or for you
- 9:29that person, love them well, love them in the language that they are prepared to receive it.
- 9:37Now, please understand love is love.
- 9:41We don't get to redefine what love is, but the action we take to show that love may look different.
- 9:48Just like getting to point B may be the same for 10 different people if we're
- 9:54all going to the local grocery store, but the path by which we drive there,
- 9:59the action we take may be different.
- 10:01In the end, we get the nourishment from the grocery store. In the end, we show somebody love.
- 10:08We exemplify Jesus to them.
- 10:11And that is ultimately what it's all about. It comes back to modeling a Christ-centered
- 10:17life by loving people in a Christ-centered way.
- 10:22Heavenly Father, thank you so much for this opportunity to have a short and
- 10:27potent conversation on love and how it's an action, God.
- 10:32My prayer is for the person listening to this right now, Lord,
- 10:35that they would uncover a deeper love, a more pure love, and also an expansive
- 10:42love in terms of loving daily,
- 10:46not not just in the big experiences,
- 10:49but meeting people in the mundane and loving them well to be a light in those
- 10:55dark spots, to help people see that you are in existence all the time,
- 11:02everywhere, in all circumstances.
- 11:04It's a matter of us choosing to partner with you in that moment.
- 11:08We thank you for your presence, Lord. In your mighty name, Jesus, we pray.
- 11:12Amen. Hey, Mama, one quick thing before you go. If this podcast blessed you
