- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think so many people are keyboard activists, right?
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's good at sending a tweet about how the world should be, and nobody's doing anything about it, and that's just that is just very much human nature.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: We've done soft as a culture.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you know, I mean, of course we've gotten soft as a culture in the U.S.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: because the U.S.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: has had an incredible 200 year run, right?
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: Like, this is just what happens.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so as a culture, you know, I can't speak for, you know.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: people that live in the Amazon River and I can't speak for, you know, people that's still living Belarus, but the American culture is soft and that's a great thing.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: That means there's been enormous amounts of prosperity, but let's not be naive.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, people literally complain when somebody gives them the wrong amount of like extra cream in a Starbucks $6 coffee.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: My lack of interest in complaining is so high and when I watch what people complain about, it breaks my heart because they completely lack perspective.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I genuinely believe my happiness and optimism comes from my perspective.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: Even in political unrest times like right now, a lot of people very bent out of shape, but the reality is that it's just never been better to be a human being, that's just the truth, that's just data, that's reality.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's just a very fun time to be alive.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the way people look at the world right now because it's such an incredible time is actually the quickest tell to whom they are.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: If you think it sucks, or it's bad, you have losing pessimistic DNA, and if you think it's awesome and phenomenal, you have optimistic winning DNA, and I believe that to be true.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: And so, that's where we're at.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: We're beating ourselves up.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like everybody sucks at something, right?
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like we all have shortcomings, and we all have strengths.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: And for me, it's like, why don't we just audit that?
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like why don't we just look at it that way?
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: And be like, all right, well, I'm good at this, but I'm not good at that, and then I only focus what I'm good at, right?
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't dwell that I can't fix shit around the house.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: I call somebody to fix it.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm not like, I'm not a man, I don't give a fuck.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, like, like, you know, like, I don't get it.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like, we all, like, I also think it's awesome that I'm so emotionally stable.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm the emotional backbone of everybody.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: Is that what a dude's supposed to do?
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like, like, these cliches, these stereotypes, they're so silly.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm fully in love with myself.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm also fully in love with everybody else too, right?
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like, it goes both ways.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I tell people to buy into me, that work for me.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's because I buy into them first.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't need anybody to gain trust with me.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: I, it's there.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I believe the human race is so grossly underrated.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: We are good.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: Of course we have some bad.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: There's fucking seven billion of us.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: But like, when you look at our net score, it's bonkershit.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know what you damage, we can be doing to each other on a hourly basis.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: And we don't, like, we're still here.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like, we won.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: We're the alpha being.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: And we figured out how to stay together.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: This is insane when you think about it.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: And yet everybody wants to dwell on, like, somebody said something mean.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to be an anomaly, you have to act like one.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like people want all these special things to happen, but then they're acting like everybody else.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: And that gets into this Saturdays on in your 20s, or just like taking risks or things like that nature, like,
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: There's anything they take away.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, look, you're going to only be so pretty.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: You're only going to be so smart.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's things that are going to be natural.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: And there's things that you can actually control.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: I do believe, and I don't know if I'm right or wrong.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: I don't.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: But I do believe that work ethic is a top behavior.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's something you do have more control over.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what really sealed the deal for me?
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: Getting healthier.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: I was 38 years old and didn't come natural to me.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it didn't come natural to me at all.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: I hate the gym, I hate it now.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: I hate it, I don't like it, I don't want to do it, but I knew it was important.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: And somewhere around midway, through being 38 years old, I got serious, I figured out my system, I made the financial commitment, and I've won, right?
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll never lose again because the system was, I needed to be accountable to another human being.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: So it was about Mike and now Jordan, whoever else is my trainer, I'm doing it almost
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like there's a shift that can make people work harder.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: The big one that I push is you're gonna die.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like, like, if you're complaining, like, to me, life is broken down into complaining and not.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're not complaining, well, I have no advice for you, but I'm pumped.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you did it, like, like, I friends who make $42,000 a year.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: work nine to four, kind of, with an hour to half lunch, and 45 minutes of YouTube, and 10 minutes of bullshitting, and an hour of complete waste of time in a meeting.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: So they're kind of working like six hours a week, right?
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: But they're pumped, and they text me, these are high school friends, and they'll text me, like, how happy they are to be the coach of their kids baseball team.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, like, that's amazing.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that seems very obvious to me.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's like, that's
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know what's super weird?
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm actually nearly end-yes.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, I, it sounds cool, like in theory, right?
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: Grass is always greener, right?
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like, far less pressure.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, like, like, all that time with my kids?
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, that would be cool.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's just like all these things that I can justify.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: So to me, but I have friends who have $100 million in the bank because of Facebook's IPO.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: who complain, who are still hungry, who wanna do even more, who will complain to me because they know I work a lot about no work life balance and they don't get this fed enough time with their family and I'm like, you have a hundred million dollars.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you could stay home, like, you're in control.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you don't complain about it.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: You've made that choice.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: Don't bullshit me.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you wanna spend more time with your family?
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: Spend more time with your family.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to be very careful about what I'm saying, versus what I'm doing, because that's how you get exposed.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't mean like people calling you out and being like, you suck, I mean to yourself.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to be exposed by myself.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's looking to yourself in the mirror and saying, like, am I doing this right?
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: So to me, there's so many people that are talking shit about how big of a non-truppinore they're gonna be and how much they're gonna achieve and they don't work on weekends.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I worked every Saturday of my 20s.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and I took a 20 year old entrepreneurs every single day.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: Lately, I've been saying to them, this Saturday, you're gonna have more time off than I've had in my entire 20s on a Saturday.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: So like before you tell me how you're gonna be bigger than me, start thinking about what you're actually doing.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm careful to not give advice that I know is uniquely something that I was gifted with.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like, how do I tell you that, oh, here's how it actually works and it almost started happening, it didn't happen.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I actually get goosebumps.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like, actually, like real, heavy goosebumps.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: When I hear something that I know feels right.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: What's the advice there?
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, Johnny, start getting goose bumps.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's certain things that I can't talk about because I know they're not practical.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: They're intuitive to me.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'd plan to instill kindness into my kids.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: I plan on instilling perspective into my kids.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: I plan in instilling just being a good human being.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: I plan on making sure they don't use their parents' wealth and microfame and leverage to impose on any other person.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just petrified of that.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: If my kids try to punk their friends on my shit, I'm going to beat the fuck out of them.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's just loser DNA.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't do that.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: right?
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: So like, I'm not obsessed with tactics.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm obsessed with religion.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: So I have a lot of wealthy friends at this point who think it's smart for them to sit first class but the kids in code.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's a tactic.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: They send their kids to Africa to build a school for a week.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's a tactic.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's like my friends at Love the Environment.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: The number two sector in the world that is hurting the
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: When you run the math of what's doing bad to the earth, it's the number two industry behind.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even want to say it because I'm not sure if it's gas in oil.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: The number two industry this side of the fact is the fashion industry.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: So all my fancy friends who love the environment are they willing to give up their fucking Louis bags?
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Let's say, right?
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: So I think people talk shit.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: So you let them sit, coach, and you went first class, but you went to Hawaii and ate it all the best.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you can't pick and choose.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: To me, it's binary.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't want to be a hypocrite.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: So my big thing is like, look, you need to be kind.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like, mean mean is just non-negotiable in our family, right?
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: And then you just need to not be full of shit.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to look at Daddy's mountain, and you want to say what I did to my dad's, and that was a big mountain for an immigrant, like, wow, dad did it, right?
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to say, I'm gonna climb that, and I'm gonna climb bigger, awesome.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm pumped, I'm weirdly not cheering for you, cause I'm, I'm just a weirdly competitive dude.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: This is actually something I'm not proud of.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm comfortable saying this, and I believe this is a flaw.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't want my kids to be me.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, like, I hate saying it.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: I know this is where I get in trouble.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: People will take one little clip from one video interview and they're like, you're bad.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's just my truth.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to bullshit you guys.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm that competitive.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: I just want them to be all in on them, right?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't need them to be an entrepreneur.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't need them to make me proud.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: They don't need to go to Harvard.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: They don't need to do shit.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: They need to be themselves all in and they need to be kind and I'm a good.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like everybody thinks their stuff is so good.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like every day, Gary, my Instagram's so on fire, it's so awesome.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: Why is nobody like why am I not gaining followers?
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's not awesome.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: think we all think our stuff is the best and like I get that but yeah that would be my advice only because that also is liberating.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: To me everything's about breathing, right?
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like to me everything is about like take full ownership for everything and then everything gets easy because then you're
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: and then learn how to love to lose.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's how entrepreneurship, that's how life is, we all have losses.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: And so, I like losses, I love adversity, I like the climb, I like the chip on my shoulder, I like when people are like, oh, I knew it, he's not that good, that is like, like, I'm even weirdly scared as I continue to ascend and I'm getting popular and what do you say?
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: The marketing leading people start putting these words in front of my name, I'm like, am I gonna sabotage myself?
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: to like, me correct this, like, I like adversity.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, all on me, you know, I enjoy losses.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: Now all of a sudden, like, what?
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: You become completely invincible.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: I feel invincible.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: I really genuinely outside of the health of myself and 20 people feel 100% invincible as a person.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: I know what my intent is.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: I wanna do good at nobody else's expense.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm far from perfect, we all are.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: And so just easy.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: It feels very light to live life.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just in a good mood.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: home and I think modern day parents and most parents do not do that.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think they focus on dumb shit like grades because they are insecure and they want to put the bumper sticker that their kid went to, you know, Stanford.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's real fucked up when you really think about what's actually happening.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: So much of it is misery loves company or people reflecting on what's inside of them.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: is the impact that you want to have on the world.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: Same thing that attracts so many of millions of people to people that are selling bullshit, those same people are attracted to me.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: And what I want to do is suffocate out all those other people and become the alpha of that entire world of people that are are hoping and are desperate.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: to look at me and what I want to do is inspire to 14-year-old girls in Kansas City right now to build a billion-dollar company on having a bunch of employees hugging each other in the halls.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Steve Jobs came along became an icon.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: But, the sad part of that narrative was he did not treat his employees well.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: He became an icon, and the narrative became he got the most out of people by being a jerk, and that became romanticized, and a lot of people in Silicon Valley today run companies where you're mean, because they think that's the right thing to do, because they put Steve Jobs on a pedestal.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: I want my pedestal moment, I want to become that big, and what I want to come from that is that kids that aren't even bored today think that they can build a $5 billion company and be a great guy or great guy.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: I want to build the biggest building in town, ever by just building the biggest building in town, while I think most people try to tear down everybody else's building.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I think positivity and good is practical advice to building an empire and I want to be the poster child of the person that built the biggest, baddest empire and did it by being a good dude along the way and not everybody's going to be happy about everything I did but if it's 97 percent of people talking good behind your back that's a real legacy and I want to do it in a pop culture way.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to do it anyway.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: People have done that before just so you know there's
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's plenty of people that have done that.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: There's a difference.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: I want to do it, and I want to be a rock star, right?
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: And that's where you influence people.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I want to do it, but I also want to be the most popular.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: And so then that person's like, oh, I want to be him.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess I'll be nice.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I want to literally take people who have DNA that's kind of nice and make them more nice, because they think that's how I became big.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: So I basically want to trick the business world into becoming kinder.
