- 0:22Speaker 4: that bill as well. You auditioned for American Idol with
- 0:25Speaker 4: Your Man by Josh Turner. Now you got the new
- 0:27Speaker 4: album fifteen where you've done this version with him. Can
- 0:29Speaker 4: you believe this is all happening?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Oh?
- 0:31Speaker 1: Man, It's pretty full circle, isn't it. You know, I
- 0:35Speaker 1: was such a fan still I am a huge fan, but
- 0:37Speaker 1: as a kid, I mean he was like my dude.
- 0:39Speaker 1: He was my hero. So yeah, all these years later
- 0:43Speaker 1: to call him a friend and get to play shows
- 0:45Speaker 1: with him and do a collab with your Man, it's
- 0:48Speaker 1: I'm still I'm pinching myself over here.
- 0:50Speaker 4: I don't want to spoil anything, but you are on
- 0:52Speaker 4: the same show with Josh at our date. Do you
- 0:55Speaker 4: get to perform together at all? Or do you get
- 0:57Speaker 4: to work that out?
- 0:58Speaker 2: You know?
- 0:58Speaker 1: I think if we are, I need to hit him
- 1:01Speaker 1: up and see what if he wants to do something.
- 1:04Speaker 1: A lot of times that stuff that happens when we
- 1:05Speaker 1: get to the show, when we're telling backstates and you're like, hey,
- 1:07Speaker 1: you want to do this, and so yeah, we'll see
- 1:11Speaker 1: it could happen.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Have you got a chance to perform this one live
- 1:13Speaker 4: with him?
- 1:14Speaker 1: Just a couple of times? Like I remember when I
- 1:16Speaker 1: just got off idle, Like the first thing we did
- 1:18Speaker 1: was go to see Mafest in Nashville and they had
- 1:21Speaker 1: me come out and join him on Your Man at
- 1:23Speaker 1: the stadium that night. So I mean it was seventy
- 1:26Speaker 1: thousand people the first time I did this live with him,
- 1:28Speaker 1: and maybe a couple times since then.
- 1:30Speaker 2: But it's been a while, so it's been a while.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Morgan County Fairgrounds is where you're performing. I actually grew
- 1:36Speaker 3: up in Morgan County and a lot of small towns there.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Do you have like a small town value that you
- 1:42Speaker 3: learned growing up that still influences you today?
- 1:44Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:44Speaker 1: You know, I think it's just treating everybody like people.
- 1:47Speaker 1: You know, it's no matter you know, treat them CEO
- 1:50Speaker 1: the same way you treat the janitor. You know, it's
- 1:52Speaker 1: it's or all human beings and disrespect, I think is
- 1:57Speaker 1: a big thing in the small towns. You know, you
- 1:59Speaker 1: got to respect for from small towns because it's going
- 2:01Speaker 1: to see them at the grocery store and we kind
- 2:03Speaker 1: of wherever you go.
- 2:04Speaker 2: So absolutely well known.
- 2:05Speaker 4: That you are from Carolina. The Carolina Hurricanes in the
- 2:09Speaker 4: Stanley Cup Finals, your song being used for some of
- 2:12Speaker 4: the promotions. Do you get to go to any of
- 2:13Speaker 4: these games or anything like that?
- 2:15Speaker 2: Oh?
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we live right there, so we can walk
- 2:18Speaker 1: to the games when we want to.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I was a game one I've never been to anything
- 2:22Speaker 2: like it.
- 2:22Speaker 1: It was amazing. And the whole town is buzzing right
- 2:25Speaker 1: now with the energy for the Hurricanes.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Man, when your team is in it, it is just
- 2:30Speaker 3: a different feeling, isn't it. We had the Pacers in
- 2:32Speaker 3: the NBA Finals last year, and now fast forward this year.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I am missing it a whole bunch.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Oh dude, totally. I mean it's just everybody's friends. Everybody's
- 2:40Speaker 1: where the gear, they got the flags on the cars,
- 2:42Speaker 1: you're high fiving people. I mean it's I gave somebody
- 2:46Speaker 1: a hug at the game. I've never talked to but
- 2:48Speaker 1: it was just like, you know, we sat across the
- 2:50Speaker 1: aisle for a while from each other for a while.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So we made it. So here we go.
- 2:54Speaker 4: We got fifteen years since your Opry debut. We like
- 2:57Speaker 4: to ask all over opry members the same question. Was
- 3:00Speaker 4: there like a secret initiation process? We don't know when
- 3:03Speaker 4: it comes to the opera. I know what we see
- 3:05Speaker 4: on stage, but what happens backstage.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Well, there could be or there could not be. You know,
- 3:11Speaker 1: It's it's one of those things.
- 3:12Speaker 2: So uh yeah, right, it seems.
- 3:17Speaker 4: To be everyone's answer when we asked them.
- 3:20Speaker 3: No one's really giving us it's a little suspicious.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Oh man, it's uh yeah.
- 3:26Speaker 1: The Opry is a it's a special special place, and
- 3:29Speaker 1: the membership and the backstage it's it's one of the
- 3:32Speaker 1: more unique things the country music, I think than any
- 3:36Speaker 1: other genre doesn't have. And it's uh yeah, it's really
- 3:39Speaker 1: really proud to be a part of that. But yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 1: the initiation is who knows?
- 3:44Speaker 2: I like that.
- 3:45Speaker 4: All right, So you got two sons now at home.
- 3:47Speaker 4: How has touring change since having the kids?
- 3:51Speaker 1: Oh?
- 3:51Speaker 2: You know, well it makes it tougher to hit the road.
- 3:53Speaker 2: You know.
- 3:53Speaker 1: When I'm telling the kid the good night, And like
- 3:56Speaker 1: last night I was telling him, Hey, you know, daddy's
- 3:57Speaker 1: going for four shows. I'll be back on minding, listened
- 3:59Speaker 1: to your model, that.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Kind of stuff.
- 4:01Speaker 1: But but yeah, you know, for me, it makes it
- 4:04Speaker 1: so much better when they get to come on the road.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Like the last two weekends, I had the whole family
- 4:08Speaker 2: out with me. And then like my little boy.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Avery, he's three and a half and he loves the
- 4:13Speaker 1: band and he loves music, and like he wants to
- 4:16Speaker 1: be out there to help set up the drums when
- 4:18Speaker 1: my drummer Joey's setting up and he's, uh, he's just
- 4:22Speaker 1: all about it.
- 4:22Speaker 2: So it's it's so awesome to see.
- 4:24Speaker 3: I love that. I Does it get easier after the
- 4:27Speaker 3: first I've got My daughter is about nine months old
- 4:31Speaker 3: right now, we are in the thick of it.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Wow awful. Yeah you sure are. No.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if it gets easier. It's
- 4:38Speaker 1: pretty chaotic at home right now. But I wouldn't have
- 4:41Speaker 1: it any other way. It's exactly beautiful thing.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Oh, we appreciate your time, Scotty. You know, I got
- 4:45Speaker 4: a show tonight to get to. We can't wait to
